Importance Of Pursuing International Education
Pursuing international education is something that I ve been wanted to do. International Scholarship is
very expensive that makes it s a dream for many students including me. However, Education shouldn t
be a privileged, but it should be a right instead. Nevertheless, I dedicated myself to take advantage of
the opportunity that this scholarship will provide me. This essay will give you more details of my life
as well as my potentials to contribute to LAS. First of all, I believe that one of my strengths is that I
am a highly disciplined person as I push myself every day to get up and get things done in time. I m
highly confident of who I am and what I am capable of. Indeed, I always have a desire for excellent
academic performance in my current school that I have to spend more time studying not harder, but
smarter. This is the key secret to my academic awards every year since primary school. I could
contribute my learning experiences as well as self discipline to LAS learning community. My second
strength is responsibility. Being responsible to myself is very important as It shows that I am a grown
up man. For instance, throughout my high school years, I ve been chosen to become a class president.
I hope that my responsibility will prove that I am able to live abroad and take care myself. Everybody
has their own unique talent and my talent is painting. Art has become a part of who I am as It allows
me to express myself through colors.

Walt Disney Case Analysis
The Walt Disney Company (DIS) is a well known entertainment and media powerhouse. While its two
most iconic theme parks are located within the US, the company also has parks in France, Japan, and
Hong Kong among other places. The media sector of Disney consists of some of the biggest names in
entertainment. Aside from its namesake Disney outlet, Disney is also the parent company of ESPN,
Lucas Films Ltd., ABC Network, and Marvel Studios. From a broader perspective, Disney seems
poised to make investors happy. While cord cutting (moving from tradition tv to online streaming
services) along with a decrease in subscribers to its ESPN network has hurt the company, recent
moves to enter the media streaming services segment seem promising. In addition, the current
government administration has announced plans to reduce the corporate tax rate from 35% to 20%.
The new administration has also proposed a way for companies to bring in overseas profits without
being taxed. This of course is good news for Disney and its international operations. With a market
cap of $151.4 billion, Disney is without a doubt a large cap stock. Its beta of 1.34 indicates it is 34%
more volatile than the market. However, this also points to higher potential returns. While Disney s
dividend yield of 1.59% isn t the most impressive, it signifies that the companies is reinvesting its
earnings into other business ventures which would reward investors with capital gains. With a PE ratio
of 17.34,

The Effects Of Climate Change On Earth
In another matter, this is not the first time that climate change has affected the planet in the past there
were many problems to the earth millions of years ago. There were five major ice ages from the
longest and first scientists believe occurred was two point four to two point one billion years ago
during the early Proterozoic Eon there was an ice age formed and it was the Huronian. The second ice
age was the cryogenian and it has been known that it produced a snowball earth in which permanent
sea ice extended to or very near the earth s equator; this period occurred from eight hundred and fifty
to six hundred and thirty million years ago. The third ice age that occurred was the Andean Saharan it
occurred during the Paleozoic from fout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scientists believe the possible causes of the medieval warm period were increase in solar activity,
decrease volcanic activity, and change to ocean circulation. After the medieval ended what followed
was the little ice age; the little ice age is a period between the thirteen hundreds to the eighteen
seventies. During this time Europe and North America were subjected to a much colder winters than
during the 20th century. Scientists believe the cause of this period was cyclical lows in solar radiation,
heightened volcanic activity, changes in the ocean circulation, variations in earth s orbit, and axial tilt,
inherent variability in global climate and decrease in the human population these just the few reasons
why the little ice age was formed.
Climate change has caused many problems to humans and ironically the cause of it are humans them
selves. One of the major problems that climate changed has caused is food crisis; hotter temperatures
will severely diminish the world s ability to grow crops and feed humanity and other animals. The
effects of major heat waves recorded in the past were very excruciating like the one in Western Europe
during the summer of 2003 which hunted the crop yield deeply. Also in 2003 Italy was affected by a
big heat wave where a maze yield feel by 36%. These are major signs that humans won t have any
thing to feed themselves in several years if this damaging global warming continues.

FSBO Argumentative Essay
If you re getting ready to sell your home, you ve likely considered the pros and cons of selling it
yourself vs selling with an agent. Certainly, the FSBO market is growing exponentially with the help
of the Internet, but will it actually save you money to do it yourself? What does a real estate agent do
aside from collecting commission? Well, before you rush outside and knock a for sale sign into the
front lawn, you might want to find out.
Usually, when homeowners attempt to sell a home themselves, they want to save the money they d
have to pay to a real estate agent to do it for them. Does it work? Well, that depends on the seller s
level of skill. You can certainly sell your home yourself. People do it everyday, and if you have

By filling out forms, applications, securing documentation and making sure that your bases have been
covered before problems arise, an agent takes a huge burden off of sellers and often makes the
difference between a deal and no deal. Not having paperwork completed on time is the number one
reason most real estate deals fails.
Protection: though you will still need an attorney, a Realtor has knowledge that can protect you in the
long run. Knowing the fair housing laws, state laws that pertain to real estate and how to properly fill
out important documents like disclosure statements will eliminate your liability and get you your
money
Dealing with Buyers: For busy people, this is one of the most welcome things a Realtor will will do

interested buyers when they want to see it allows you to carry on with your life, avoid lost work and

The Scarlet Letter And The Making Of A Pearl
Sarah Thompson
Mr. Carter
English III

The Scarlet Letter and the Making of a Pearl
Every pearl begins as a dangerous and harsh intrusion into life. A piece of dirt is inserted into an
oyster s environment where it doesn t belong. The oyster can either respond by dying, or by accepting
and surrounding the sand with care. With continual care, the oyster turns the small speck of dirt into a
beautiful pearl. The Scarlet Letter is a story of how one woman takes a scandalous event and rather
than allowing the event to define her, she, by constant kindness, turns her life and her child into
something of worth. The theme I am focusing on in The Scarlet Letter is the person and the concept
which embodies courage and redemption.

The oyster must believe that it can survive the intrusion of the sand particle. Similarly, Hester decides
that after being socially shunned she would have to daily overcome the negative statements from
around her and the negative thoughts within her. Hester shows courage under all the stigma when she
entered the Governor s hall (Hawthorne 98). Even though people are judgmental and cruel, she stays
strong. This is a positive example of courage just as when an oyster accepts and nurtures a piece of
dirt. A negative example of courage is Dimmesdale and his deceitful heart toward his sin. He is like
the oyster that doesn t accept the piece of sand and dies because of the intrusion. He hides the fact that
he is also a guilty party in the sin and as a result, he can t forgive himself and slowly withers away
under the social pressure (Hawthorne 238).
The final example of courage is Pearl herself. She is symbolically the piece of sand. Being raised
under Hester s care, Pearl s nature is an embodiment that she is not wanted by her community and
only loved by her mother. Pearl shows great courage by not conforming to the expectations of those
around her. Yes, she is sometimes very demonic like (Hawthorne 126), but she is not a coward like her
father. She doesn t let society define her, she defines herself. Throughout the process of turning a grit
of sand into a pearl, the oyster must keep courage. Likewise, the theme of courage is represented in
the book as Hester grows

Summary Of The Enlightenment Salons
Dr. Dena Goodman is an American historian and Professor of History and Women s Studies at the
University of Michigan. Her most notable publications include The Republic of Letters: A Cultural
History of the French Enlightenment (1994) and Becoming a Woman in the Age of Letters (2009).
In her article, Enlightenment Salons: The Convergence of Female and Philosophic Ambition, (1989)
Dena Goodman stresses the pivotal role of women, as salonnières, in the transformation and
governance of eighteenth century French Enlightenment salons, which were the base of the
philosophes pursuit of the Enlightenment project; furthermore, Goodman argues the reciprocal
successes of the Republic of Letters and the Enlightenment salons was fostered by their ... Show more

The motivations were various and complex, from trying to advance from social dissipation to trying to
supplement the education that was denied to them as children.
However, as illustrated by eighteenth century French theologian and moralist, Jacques Joseph Duget,
there was a perception of frivolous and licentious salon women in the seventeenth century corrupting
society, particularly by feminizing men. Salons in the eighteenth century had evolved from this, now
trying to revive society through the philosophes Republic of Letters.
The salons were reclaimed from aristocracy and utilized by the philosophes as a space of collaboration
and intellectual exchange, fostering Enlightenment ideas, particularly egalitarianism. Salons were
characterized by the acknowledged equality among the participants as well as the birth of intellectual
practice as a valuable interest. The serious tone of the salon as a workspace provided philosophes with
the environment necessary to spread the ideals of the Enlightenment, including the involvement of
women in the enlightened community. The Republic of Letters developed complementarily with the
salon s social, institutional advancements, mirroring the interconnectivity of philosophes and
salonnières alike in the Enlightenment project. Epistolary networks of intellectual discussion and the
continued exchange of letters was vital to the growth and characterization of the Republic of

Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my
covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters
become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and
remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth. So
God said to Noah, This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the
earth.
When Adam and Eve sinned, it did not make God happy. So in order to cleanse the earth, He had
Noah gather up two of every animal and make an arc for the animals and Noah s family. God then
began to flood the earth. Since Noah was faithful, God kept him and his family safe from the flood.
Then God put a big rainbow in the sky to remind us that He would never do that again. This rainbow
reminds us that when we are in times of trouble, God will protect us.
The whole world will never again be covered over by water, but that doesn t mean we won t have
trouble in this life. Our world is full of trouble. Some kids see this trouble every day at home. They

Ptsd Is An Abbreviation For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder...
Every year there are well over 7 million cases of PTSD that are announced (Kledzik). A small
percentage of the people on Earth at some point in their life span will have some form of PTSD. A
solution that will be able to help these people is commonly referred to as man s best friend. For many
years PTSD dogs have been useful to relieve the severe symptoms of this disorder. They have proven
themselves to be more than just an animal. Post traumatic stress disorder dogs are far beyond just man
s best friend; they protect the protectors far after the wars end. First of all, what exactly is PTSD?
PTSD is an abbreviation for post traumatic stress disorder. One website says that the people that have
this disorder developed it from being in a situation that was threatening or terrifying ( Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder ). This disorder does not only happen with veterans; PTSD can develop in anyone who
has been assaulted, involved in any kind of accident, abuse, tragic loss of a close person, or hurricane
victims. There are many symptoms that can be seen in people who have this disorder; however, the
symptoms can be different between adults and children. In a different article by the Nebraska
Department of Veterans Affairs they mentioned:
Although PTSD symptoms can begin right after a traumatic event, PTSD is not diagnosed unless the
symptoms last for at least one month, and either cause significant distress or interfere with work or
home life. In order to be diagnosed with PTSD,

Binder viscosity was altered by changing temperature. The...
Binder viscosity was altered by changing temperature. The initial dispersion of the binder in the
powder depends upon viscosity and shear rate applied. (Schaefer, 1996) Binder viscosity also controls
the consolidation rate and hence subsequent growth via coalescence. (Ennis, et al., 1991). Results
from Rough et al (2005) showed that increased temperature (lower viscosity), the regimes are reached
faster because the binder is able to distribute more effectively in the mixture at a given shear rate
which is in accordance with the work reported by Schaefer et al (1996). As LAS paste quantity was
increased, mixing time required to form designated regimes decreased. Work done by Hibare (2012)
showed that the peak modal granule diameter stays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the crumble regime, bulk density and porosity of the granules display significant turning points.
Rough et al (2005) also stated that the crumble regime is a key stage in the agglomeration mechanism
as it is the point between macro and micro mixing. Hibare (2012) concluded that as binder to solid
ratio increases, granulation time to achieve a particular size distribution decreases. Hibare (2012) also
showed that granule strength decreases as binder to solid ratio increases due to more liquid content in
the granules in both reactive and non reactive binder systems.
2.2 High Viscous (Detergent) vs Low Viscous Granulation Mechanisms
According to the research work on a high viscous binder detergent granulation system of LAS (high
viscosity binder) and zeolite carried out by Rough et al (2005), they found that at a higher impeller
speed, size distribution had the same peak modal diameter, a narrower peak width and less vol% of
bigger granule diameter. Comparing findings from Rough et al (2005) detergent granulation with
pharmaceutical granulation of lactose and PEG melt (low viscosity binder) carried out by Schaefer et
al (1993), Schaefer et al (1993) reported a larger peak modal diameter and a narrower size distribution
at higher speed. Heng et al (2000) suggested that at higher impeller speed with increased shear forces,
rate of granule consolidation should increase as surface plasticity and

Summary Of Seven Years In Tibet
Ann Braun RS 390 Movie Review ( Seven Years in Tibet) November 20, 2017 For this student of
Buddhism, the movie Seven Years in Tibet was a historically correct, religiously sound, and moving
depiction of the beauty and power of this eastern non monotheistic faith. Furthermore, the grand
biography of the Austrian climber Heinrich Harrier, not only illustrated the supernatural aspects of the
faith, but also its folkloric magic. Additionally, it tackled the political struggles, both externally and
parochially, that embroiled the country in the aftermath of World War II. Moreover, so poignant were
these struggles that the Chinese government banned both the lead actor and the producer from ever
visiting China. Lastly, the main theme of the movie, was one of purification and redemption in the tale
of how an egotistical mountain climber evolved when exposed to this compassionate and generous
culture. Jean Jacque Annaud sets most of this epic film in the pilgrimage city of Lhasa, were the
young Dalai Lama resides( Strong 264). Here the story illustrates the many oddities of Tibetan
Buddhism such as the magic rituals that are both part of both Buddhism and earlier folk beliefs. For
instance, the Tibetans are most afraid of foreigners, and the movie shows the people using Tantras (
magic), and making hand gestures or mudras to drive away evil (Robinson 123 124). For example,
travelers sticking their tongues out when meeting strangers, a ritual for which neither the text nor the
film offered any explanation. Just as interesting is the sounds that transport the viewer into the setting,
with hand clapping and bells, both rituals for keeping evil away( Robinson 124). Moreover, the most
powerful use of tantra magic is a scene where the monks have created a large mandala or power circle,
in hopes of affecting a peaceful solution to the conflict with the communist Chinese government.
When the Chinese generals stride through the meticulously created chalk masterpiece, destroying the
work as they go, the audience understands that both Tibet and Buddhism are doomed. Another
example of the supernatural is the Dalai Lamas prophetic powers, as the thirteenth predicts that
foreigners will overrun Tibet, and the

Suicide In Dido s Lament By Mark Morris
Dido s Lament , choreographed by Mark Morris, is an emotional dance theatre piece that illustrates
the tale of Queen Dido, a character from the opera Dido and Aeneas, who prepares to commit suicide
after feeling betrayed by Aeneas, a man with whom she fell in love with. Because the character that
Morris is portraying is preparing to commit suicide due to being heartbroken, Morris wanted to
translate this tragic and moving concept of suicide through not only his movement phrases, but
through the dark setting created onstage by the performers as well. As the title suggests, the word
lament , as well as the concept of suicide and despair, were the main elements on which Morris built
the dance piece on. Through the dark ambiance and slow, dramatic movements onstage, Morris
expresses to the audience through story how emotional grief, inner conflict, and sadness are.
Mark Morris formed the Mark Morris Dance Group in 1980, and was famous for the power of his
dancing and the musicality he chose to utilize with his performances, while still being graceful and
delicate. His ability to technically express the messages he aimed to convey made his performances
captivating. Morris performed in both Dance Theatre and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

emotions, and almost looking as if they are giving up. This can also be seen through how the dancers
are all in front of Morris standing, while he is kneeling, showing that they stand taller and are stronger

The Writer s First Line Generator Summary
The Writer s First Line Generator is a website that has some computer generated assistance if you are
writing. This week wordpress has been encouraging a daily post of flash fiction and it helped me
identify a direction I could take to write my flash fiction post of two days ago.
However, yesterday I went back to the site to see if I could mine it more for inspiration. It suggested
an introduction very, very similar to my post of the twenty fifth. This is what it had for me:
The afternoon when my brother murdered his wife, I became a millionaire s tailor.
I was unhappy that what seemed promising to get some flash fiction rolling was quickly becoming
redundant.
Frankly, this sentence seems a little strange; it was refreshing to have a jump off point two days ago
for flash fiction, but the same general composition would likely result if I went from there. However,
tonight, I m thinking about it, and suddenly I realize I can go to the Content Creation Tool below.
Basically, Spinbot alters a composition so that a substantial numbers of words among the whole of the
piece are turned into different words. The result is amusing, somewhat ... Show more content on

a mogul might have more of an impact than the life of a tailor, in fiction that tailor may be more
clearly defined as the protagonist and therefore of greater relevance to the story going forward from
the introduction suggested by the Writer s Line Generator. A reader could well be moved more by

The Mystery Of The Salem Witchcraft Trials
The Mystery of the Salem Witchcraft Trials Jennifer Hollenbeck AP United States History Mrs. Price
November 12, 2014 The Salem witchcraft trials were a particularly dark and mysterious time in the
history of America. These trials that were arranged upon the belief of witchcraft could have multiple
explanations. In my opinion these trials began as a combination between religious factors, boredom,
social issues and all coming together in a mess of suspicion and deceit. Although these trials did start
because of the Puritan s imagination, their true religious belief in witchcraft, childish antics, and their
hatred for their neighbors helped to fuel their imagination. The people s imagination began to lead the
people in the town of Salem, Massachusetts into a deadly witch hunt. The Salem Witchcraft Trials
were a series of trials in Salem, Massachusetts which accused many local women with witchcraft. The
legal proceedings began in the spring of 1692. More than two hundred people were accused of this
witchcraft. Of these two hundred people twenty were executed. The setting at the time of the Salem
witchcraft trials was a period of unrest. There was increasing tension between the two main parts of
Salem, which included Salem Village and Salem Town. Salem town was a bustling port with a number
of shops, large merchant s houses, and local government buildings. In contrast, Salem Village
consisted of a few scattered farms and farmhouses roughly clustered around the

Tally, an Astonishing Character in the Book Uglies by...
Tally is an exceptional character from the book Uglies who captivates everyone s attention with her

running away from Special Circumstances during the Smoke invasion. Along with these positive
qualities, Tally is a determined girl who will get what she wants when she puts her mind to it. From all

Sometimes, Tally made a risk for her personal reason, like when she crashed the party to see Peris.
Other times it was to help people that she truly cared and loved about, as when she went to see Maddy

had to have extreme courage.
Tally did many things that took great amounts of courage to do, but the things that took the most
courage happened during the Smoke s invasion. When Tally went to go and talk to Dr.Cable during the
invasion she told her that she throw the pendant on the roof (which was a lie) and when Tally went to
get it a guard came with her. When the guard was struggling on the roof she jumped on the hover

action that not anyone would do, only someone with as much courage as Tally. Something else that
Tally did which took courage was, running away from Special Circumstance while they were chasing
her in hoverboards after she was the only Smoky left. While she was running away, she ran into a cave
that she had only been once. Tally didn t have food, water, proper clothing, and light, but she still ran

Essay On English 312
Research Goal During the undergraduate career many english major s will encounter a course in
which they focus on a specific time period of literature. English 317: British Literature 1500 1700 is
one such course. English 317 is designed to allow students the freedom and flexibility to identify and
formulate questions for productive inquiry, to evaluate sources for credibility, bias, quality of
evidence, and quality of reasoning, and to use citation methods and structures appropriate to their field
of study (UWP English Department). These course goals identical to the UW English Department s
Research goal. It is because this course focuses on a time period in which no living being is yet alive
to have personally experienced it, that a heavy amount of research is required. The paper The Witch of

While looking into these several types of plays I was able to accumulate enough information to
effectively argue that there is a separate treatment of women versus men who accept deals with the
devil in return for magical powers. This claim is designed to display that the bias between gender is
prevalent enough to allow the use of satanic pacts and devil magic to become acceptable for men in
certain instances but not for women. Through this idea I had to comb through many resources that
would help defend my argument. This being said, I had to chose carefully and effectively what sources
I included in my paper. In order to do this I had to evaluate sources for credibility, bias, quality of
evidence, and quality of reasoning, a requirement of the English Department s research goal. The best
demonstration of this is an excerpt that displays how I had evaluated

Argentina was founded on July 9, 1816 by locals who were settled in the area (Infoplease). Argentina
was ruled by Ferdinand VII and controlled the government from Buenos Aires, which is the capital of
Argentina (Gascoigne). The coat of arms for Argentina as stated by Haley Cohen of The Argentina
Independent, is two hands clasped around a pike topped by a mysterious red hat, and embroidered by
Ivy leaves and imposed over a rising sun. The meaning of the Coat of Arms represents little things that
all tie into one. The hands clasped together are a symbol of Unity, the sun represents the freedom
Argentina has over Spain, the red hat represents a Phrygian cap that was worn by the Ancient Romans
that stood for liberty, the pike in terms represents willingness to defend (Cohen). Argentina is teeming

Exploring Medical Asepsis
Asepsis is the state of being free from disease causing contaminants (such as bacteria, viruses, fungi,
and parasites) or, preventing contact with microorganisms. The term asepsis often refers to those
practices used to promote or induce asepsis in an operative field in surgery or medicine to prevent
infection. Asepsis is a term that is used, medically, and surgically. Medically asepsis is being
concerned with eliminating the spread of microorganisms through facility practices. In my own words,
that means using all safety precautions, to insure, that viruses, bacteria s, and other microorganism are
not present. An example of medical asepsis would be things such as the flu, mumps, rabies, and other
contagious infections. Medical asepsis should always be practiced, because it helps the patient fight a
current infection and prevent its spread, prevents the patient from being re infected by the same
pathogen, Prevents the patient from being infected with a new pathogen, Prevents health care

Introductory Exercise
This exercise explores song elements and looks closely at the blues song format. Ask students to bring
the lyrics of a favorite song to class (reminding them beforehand what appropriate and inappropriate
choices would be). Start by discussing the lyrical parts of a song:
Verses In a song, a verse is a group of lines that constitutes a unit (similar to verses in poetry).
Typically, a song consists of several verses, and the rhyme scheme and rhythm are usually the same
from verse to verse.
Chorus A song s refrain (verse that repeats itself at given intervals throughout the song).

Why might black blues artists in the 1950s not have seen white artists borrowing as a compliment?

Attachment Survey
The formation of attachment begins at birth with the child forming some type or form of attachment
with their parents or primary caregiver. Hopefully, the child is able to form a proper or secure
attachment with their parent or primary caregivers because the attachment formed between the parents
or primary caregiver acts the foundation for how well the child will be able to form attachments with
others outside the immediate family (Gullone, Ollendick, King,2006).This is because the type or level
of attachment the child was able to form with his or her parent generally predicts the type or level of
attachment the child will form with others outside their intermediate family. However, as the

One method I have for interacting or socializing with individuals outside my group of family and
friends is to look for individuals who appear to be similar to myself in traits, characteristics, and
personality. For example, when I first started working at Wal Mart I tended to avoid the other workers
who were loud and outgoing. Instead, the first friend I made at Wal Mart was a female who seemed to
be shy, quiet and like to hang back from the other employees. After interacting with the female more, I
was pleased to discover that we did in fact, have a lot of the same characteristics, traits, and a similar
personality. According to Mercer and DeRosier (2010) selecting friends based on similarities is fairly
common and generally relationships based on the two members similarities are more rewarding. I
believe relationships between two people brought together by similarities are more rewarding because
the two individuals in the relationship realize the other person will be more understanding and less
likely to judge them harshly. For example, I did not experience a healthy or even normal childhood,
with that being said, some of my best friends are those who have also experienced some type or aspect
of trauma in their life. With these friends, I am usually more open and more willing to share the real

Buddhist Buddhism And Food Of Buddhism
Buddhist Vegetarianism and Foods
In China, Buddhism is an ancient religion with numerous followers. Vegetarians are generally
regarded as Buddhists because people know that Buddhism is a religion that prohibits eating meat.
Buddhism originated in ancient India, which found by a prince of realm called Gautama Buddha in
three thousand years ago. (Henry, 2012) It spread to China in the Western Han Dynasty. It not only
brought a new religion for China, but also had a profound impact on the vegetarian culture at that
time. We will describe the relationship between the Buddhism and its vegetarian culture through food
varieties of vegetarian diet, dishes, and the benefits to the human body.
Food varieties of Buddhist Vegetarianism
Buddhists mainly eat grains, legumes, vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds. A lot of people have
stereotype of Buddhist, which monks do not eat meat because it is considered breaking no killing rule.
However, that is not entirely true. Buddhism does not forbid its followers to eat meat at the beginning.
Moreover, there are many different stringent requirements for whether or what kind of meat Buddhists
can eat depend on different sects of Buddhism. Thus, Buddhism does not have a uniform standard
diet.

The Importance Of Spiritual Discipline
God intends the Disciplines of the spiritual life to be for ordinary human beings: people who have
jobs, who care for children, who wash dishes and mow lawns (Foster, 1998, Page 1). Spiritual
Discipline should be a natural part of the Christian life, not a process that one only practices on
Sunday at church. Just as a prize fighter must train by exercising, eating right and meditating on the
big fight, so should Christians when it comes to our spiritual discipline. Spiritual Discipline is a
process that takes the believer from sinful existence into a Christ like life that is pleasing to God.
Spiritual formation is the link that connects mankind to God. If that link is severed, the believer is
exposed to sin thus causing one to live a life outside of the will of God.
Although spiritual discipline is the cornerstone to self discipline, it is also vital to living a life with
balanced spiritual formation. Balanced spiritual formation is cultivated in the company of like minded
comrades and sensitive confidants (Pettit, 2008, Page 78). This message goes together with Hebrews
10:24 25 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving
up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another and all the more
as you see the Day approaching (NIV, emphasis added). This important like minded and meeting
together is what God intended to draw strength from other believers, bringing about balanced

Systematic Worth In Fahrenheit 451
Systematic Worth: How Society Has Caused Imperfection by Reaching for Perfection No one knows
you better than you know yourself. This fabled quote implies a sense of of self awareness for an
individual, and in a way, it passively rejects the societal norms and outside judgements towards that
individual. However, the world seeks a systematic approach to determining the capability and worth of
individuals. This system, whether imposed by the government, social norms, or society itself, will
always create problems for individuals because of the individuality of each human being. This makes
a perfect model impossible. The next question is why? Why do people depend on validation from such
an imperfect system when it only causes problems? Is there any other type of worth that rewards more
than systematic validation , perhaps capable of connecting to the uniqueness of the individual on a
personal level? Worth is more meaningful when determined by the individual rather than by a system
because true worth comes from within, as opposed to that of the fickle outside world. Self worth can
often be described as the sense of an individual s value as a person. Its importance relates to the key
question everyone asks themselves: what s the purpose of life? Self worth sometimes stresses people
to choose whatever decisions they make. In Fahrenheit 451, although Bradbury shows a bipolarity in
Guy s personality, Guy ultimately demonstrates this free will after a revelation of what

Simulacra And Science Fiction By Jean Baudrillard
Think about the last time you sent a text in order to communicate with another person. You may have
been under the impression that you were talking with someone, but in reality you were simply
pressing down on your phone and watching the pixels on the screen move. According to Jean
Baudrillard s ideologies, you were the mere product of a simulation. In Simulacra and Simulations and
Simulacra and Science Fiction , author and sociologist Jean Baudrillard explains this phenomenon by
exploring the concept of simulacrum and simulations. Baudrillard argues that we live in a simulation
that is more real than reality, and thus no longer even bears a resemblance to reality. In other words,
the reality we think we know is really just an illusion. One movie with an exceptional amount of
parallels to Baudrillard s ideologies is The Matrix, directed by the Wachowskis. Many people believe
that foundation of The Matrix s plot is based off Baudrillard s philosophies, however this has been met
with numerous counterarguments. While The Matrix s plot may correspond with many Baudrillard s
beliefs, it is my belief that The Matrix is not solely based on Baudrillard s works but instead
incorporates ideas from a variety of different sources.
Although people may assume that the terms simulacra and simulation are interchangeable, it is
important to specify how they differ. The chapter, Simulacra and Simulations in Selected Writings
opens with quote from Ecclesiastes stating [t]he simulacrum

Reluctant Fundamentalist
US immigration is a major component of The Reluctant Fundamentalist, and contributes greatly to the
plot as well. Hamid s use of US immigration affects the plot of the story as it connects to the theme of
identity, through the use of ashamed tone as well as precise diction. First of all, the use of ashamed
tone demonstrates how US immigration is associated with the theme of identity. For example, as
Changez rides in a limousine with his colleagues, he spots a Filipino driver: There was an undisguised
hostility in his expression; I had no idea why ... But his dislike was so obvious, so intimate, that it got
under my skin. I stared back at him, getting angry at myself. (67). The words hostility and dislike

For instance, as Changez arrives at Manila with Underwood Samson, he states: Perhaps it was for this
reason that I did something in Manila I had never done before: I attempted to act and speak, as much
as my dignity would permit, more like an American. Even though Changez is a US immigrant, it is
suggested that he still acted in a Pakistani behavior, as he states how he had never specifically acted in
the stereotypical American way. Additionally, the fact that Changez attempts to act like an American
demonstrates how his identity isn t just American, but also Pakistani as well. This defines the theme of
identity, as Changez feels troubled and confused about where he really is from, and where his loyalties
lie. Furthermore, Changez states how at Manila, he learned to answer, when asked where [he] was
from, that [he] was from New York. (65). Changez stating how he was specifically from New York
shows how he identifies the place as home, similar to his real home in Pakistan. It is shown through
previous chapters that New York contains many parts of Pakistani culture, explaining why Changez
relates to New York in such a cheerful and excited tone. Even so, while many relate the US and New
York as identical, Changez separates the two places, stating how America represents the egotistical,
condescending behavior that it expresses on others. Changez resorting

Animal Farm Animal Control
Control, lies, and terror. These words describe the Animal Farm under Napoleon s rule. This 1945
book was based on the Russian revolution and used animals revolting against their owner to describe
events that took place in the real life rebellion. Napoleon has proven himself a similar tyrant to Jones
by acting controlling toward the animals, living the same lifestyle, and breaking his agreements.
When Napoleon took leadership during the revolt against Farmer Jones, the power went straight to his
head, and that started reflecting how he treated the animals after they took over the farm. Napoleon s
actions were like a mirror; it reflected how Jones treated the animals before. It even came to the extent
of taking away a tradition that animals keep dear to their heart because it shows honor and dignity.
According to page 38 of Animal Farm, By George Orwell, ...by a special decree of Comrade
Napoleon, Beast of England has been abolished. From now onwards it was forbidden to sing it. For
Napoleon to gain more power he needed to take away something that the animals honor to show he is
the leader now, but if that song were never stated, most of the animals would not have been motivated
to help revolt against Farmer Jones. Every day the animals were being forced to work, and if they did
not, they would not get enough food to survive. The animals were being treated like Napoleon s
servants, but the animals were too gullible to bypass Squealer s lies. According to page 26 of

I believe that anti realism about the past is false under both construals and I shall defend realism about
the past against them. I obviously take realism to be a modal thesis about the relation between truth
and its recognition, a thesis which says that the truth of statements in the past tense is independent
from the obtaining of the sort of evidence which we normally rely on to recognize that they are true :
testimonies, reports, documents, memories, and so on. It follows from this that the most promising
way of arguing in its favour is to meet the now familiar Dummettian manifestability challenge . This is
what I propose to do here. I shall address that challenge directly and conclude, contrary to Michael
Dummett s anti realist, that (R) is true.
I shall begin with a few words of caution regarding the content of the challenge. It is often taken for
granted that anti realism of the Dummettian variety, either negatively or conditionally construed, is
inferred from the provisional claim that no one has yet managed to show, or has yet even made clear,
how one could manifest an understanding of the meaning of particular instances of (R), instances such
as :
(1) ‡ ( Caesar crossed the Rubicon is true · there is no evidence for Caesar crossed the Rubicon ).
Dummett and other advocates of semantic anti realism like Crispin Wright and Neil Tennant, have
indeed repeatedly insisted that the anti realist s challenge must be met within the theory of meaning,

The Loss Of Helen Keller In Everyday Life
There are many privileges in daily life that people take for granted at most times. When an average
person wakes up in the morning to the sound of birds chirping and the sight of sunlight shining
through his or her bedroom window, he or she may not think of how others in the world do not have
these seemingly insignificant gifts. Helen Keller was one of many people who had the gift of seeing
and hearing taken away at a young age. She never had many experiences or opportunities that the
majority of the population does, due to the handicap she was burdened with at just 19 months old. For
many, losing the ability to see and hear can be detrimental if he or she does not accommodate their
daily life to their situation. For Helen Keller, she was only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are few basic life functions or daily activities that are affected by a loss of hearing. One of the
few is communication. A deaf person would not likely be able to communicate through simply
speaking, or if he or she did, she may not be easily understood because she cannot hear the sounds she
is making. Someone with severe hearing loss, or has lost their hearing altogether, would not be able to
enjoy music in the same way as someone that hears well. Someone who is hard of hearing can learn
sign language in order to communicate with any other person that understands sign language. They
could also hire an interpreter, who is able to relay spoken information to the deaf person in sign
language, as well as verbally saying to hearing people what the person is communicating through sign
language. A deaf person would not be able to listen to music anymore, but they can still feel vibrations
made by the sound waves. If the person plays an instrument, he or she would have to learn to feel the
vibrations made by different frequencies to determine what note they are playing. A person s daily life

Essay On Nanowires
Abstract This paper provides an overview of the ongoing developments and research efforts on
nanowires. It is a brief survey of the types of materials used and the applications associated with
nanowire research. It is a method combining laser ablation, cluster formation and vapour liquid solid
growth
(VLS). In this process, laser ablation was used to prepare nanometer diameter catalyst clusters that
define the size of wires produced by VLS growth. This approach was used to prepare bulk quantities
of uniform single crystal silicon and germanium nanowires with diameters of 6 20 and 3 9 nm. Studies
carried out with different conditions and catalyst materials confirmed the central detail of the growth

II. NANOWIRE SYNTHESIS
Many of the papers included in this survey concentrated on methods or materials used to synthesize
nanowires. Most nanowire synthesis occurs via Vapor Liquid Solid (VLS) processes. VLS processes
use a liquid catalyst to draw components out of a vapor phase and deposit them in a solid phase. While
terms such as laser ablation and chemical vapor deposition may often be used to describe the synthesis
technique used in a particular experiment, this commonly refers only to the means by which the vapor
phase is produced or transported. For example, laser ablation uses a laser to vaporize a source
material, forming the vapor phase that is absorbed and later deposited by the catalyst droplet as the
nanowire grows.
Silicon nanowires often are synthesized through VLS processes [1 3]. Specifically, a substrate is
coated with gold nanoparticles and then heated until the gold melts and forms tiny droplets. A silicon
containing vapor, typically silane, or
SiH4, is then passed over the substrate. At the vapor gold interface, silicon atoms are stripped from the
silane and are absorbed into the nanoparticles. When the saturation limit of silicon in gold has been
reached, the silicon precipitates out of the droplet onto the substrate.
This precipitate builds up and lifts the catalyst away from the substrate, giving

Indeed, I always have a desire for excellent academic performance in my current school that I have to spend more time studying not harder, but smarter. • 3. Walt Disney Case Analysis The Walt Disney Company (DIS) is a well known entertainment and media powerhouse. While its two most iconic theme parks are located within the US, the company also has parks in France, Japan, and Hong Kong among other places. The media sector of Disney consists of some of the biggest names in entertainment. Aside from its namesake Disney outlet, Disney is also the parent company of ESPN, Lucas Films Ltd., ABC Network, and Marvel Studios. From a broader perspective, Disney seems poised to make investors happy. While cord cutting (moving from tradition tv to online streaming services) along with a decrease in subscribers to its ESPN network has hurt the company, recent moves to enter the media streaming services segment seem promising. In addition, the current government administration has announced plans to reduce the corporate tax rate from 35% to 20%. The new administration has also proposed a way for companies to bring in overseas profits without being taxed. This of course is good news for Disney and its international operations. With a market cap of $151.4 billion, Disney is without a doubt a large cap stock. Its beta of 1.34 indicates it is 34% more volatile than the market. However, this also points to higher potential returns. While Disney s dividend yield of 1.59% isn t the most impressive, it signifies that the companies is reinvesting its earnings into other business ventures which would reward investors with capital gains. With a PE ratio of 17.34, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The second ice age was the cryogenian and it has been known that it produced a snowball earth in which permanent sea ice extended to or very near the earth s equator; this period occurred from eight hundred and fifty to six hundred and thirty million years ago. Scientists believe the possible causes of the medieval warm period were increase in solar activity, decrease volcanic activity, and change to ocean circulation. After the medieval ended what followed was the little ice age; the little ice age is a period between the thirteen hundreds to the eighteen seventies. During this time Europe and North America were subjected to a much colder winters than during the 20th century. Scientists believe the cause of this period was cyclical lows in solar radiation, heightened volcanic activity, changes in the ocean circulation, variations in earth s orbit, and axial tilt, inherent variability in global climate and decrease in the human population these just the few reasons why the little ice age was formed. Climate change has caused many problems to humans and ironically the cause of it are humans them selves. One of the major problems that climate changed has caused is food crisis; hotter temperatures will severely diminish the world s ability to grow crops and feed humanity and other animals. The effects of major heat waves recorded in the past were very excruciating like the one in Western Europe during the summer of 2003 which hunted the crop yield deeply. • 6. The Scarlet Letter And The Making Of A Pearl Sarah Thompson Mr. Carter English III 7 November 2017 The Scarlet Letter and the Making of a Pearl Every pearl begins as a dangerous and harsh intrusion into life. A piece of dirt is inserted into an oyster s environment where it doesn t belong. The oyster can either respond by dying, or by accepting and surrounding the sand with care. With continual care, the oyster turns the small speck of dirt into a beautiful pearl. The Scarlet Letter is a story of how one woman takes a scandalous event and rather than allowing the event to define her, she, by constant kindness, turns her life and her child into something of worth. The theme I am focusing on in The Scarlet Letter is the person and the concept which embodies courage and redemption. To ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The oyster must believe that it can survive the intrusion of the sand particle. Similarly, Hester decides that after being socially shunned she would have to daily overcome the negative statements from around her and the negative thoughts within her. Hester shows courage under all the stigma when she entered the Governor s hall (Hawthorne 98). Even though people are judgmental and cruel, she stays strong. This is a positive example of courage just as when an oyster accepts and nurtures a piece of dirt. A negative example of courage is Dimmesdale and his deceitful heart toward his sin. He is like the oyster that doesn t accept the piece of sand and dies because of the intrusion. He hides the fact that he is also a guilty party in the sin and as a result, he can t forgive himself and slowly withers away under the social pressure (Hawthorne 238). The final example of courage is Pearl herself. She is symbolically the piece of sand. Being raised under Hester s care, Pearl s nature is an embodiment that she is not wanted by her community and only loved by her mother. Pearl shows great courage by not conforming to the expectations of those around her. Yes, she is sometimes very demonic like (Hawthorne 126), but she is not a coward like her father. She doesn t let society define her, she defines herself. Throughout the process of turning a grit of sand into a pearl, the oyster must keep courage. Likewise, the theme of courage is represented in the book as Hester grows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Her most notable publications include The Republic of Letters: A Cultural History of the French Enlightenment (1994) and Becoming a Woman in the Age of Letters (2009). In her article, Enlightenment Salons: The Convergence of Female and Philosophic Ambition, (1989) Dena Goodman stresses the pivotal role of women, as salonnières, in the transformation and governance of eighteenth century French Enlightenment salons, which were the base of the philosophes pursuit of the Enlightenment project; furthermore, Goodman argues the reciprocal successes of the Republic of Letters and the Enlightenment salons was fostered by their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The motivations were various and complex, from trying to advance from social dissipation to trying to supplement the education that was denied to them as children. However, as illustrated by eighteenth century French theologian and moralist, Jacques Joseph Duget, there was a perception of frivolous and licentious salon women in the seventeenth century corrupting society, particularly by feminizing men. Salons in the eighteenth century had evolved from this, now trying to revive society through the philosophes Republic of Letters. The salons were reclaimed from aristocracy and utilized by the philosophes as a space of collaboration and intellectual exchange, fostering Enlightenment ideas, particularly egalitarianism. Salons were characterized by the acknowledged equality among the participants as well as the birth of intellectual practice as a valuable interest. The serious tone of the salon as a workspace provided philosophes with the environment necessary to spread the ideals of the Enlightenment, including the involvement of women in the enlightened community. The Republic of Letters developed complementarily with the salon s social, institutional advancements, mirroring the interconnectivity of philosophes and salonnières alike in the Enlightenment project. Epistolary networks of intellectual discussion and the continued exchange of letters was vital to the growth and characterization of the Republic of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth. So God said to Noah, This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth. When Adam and Eve sinned, it did not make God happy. So in order to cleanse the earth, He had Noah gather up two of every animal and make an arc for the animals and Noah s family. God then began to flood the earth. Since Noah was faithful, God kept him and his family safe from the flood. Then God put a big rainbow in the sky to remind us that He would never do that again. This rainbow reminds us that when we are in times of trouble, God will protect us. The whole world will never again be covered over by water, but that doesn t mean we won t have trouble in this life. • 9. Ptsd Is An Abbreviation For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder... Every year there are well over 7 million cases of PTSD that are announced (Kledzik). A small percentage of the people on Earth at some point in their life span will have some form of PTSD. A solution that will be able to help these people is commonly referred to as man s best friend. For many years PTSD dogs have been useful to relieve the severe symptoms of this disorder. They have proven themselves to be more than just an animal. Post traumatic stress disorder dogs are far beyond just man s best friend; they protect the protectors far after the wars end. First of all, what exactly is PTSD? PTSD is an abbreviation for post traumatic stress disorder. One website says that the people that have this disorder developed it from being in a situation that was threatening or terrifying ( Post Traumatic Stress Disorder ). This disorder does not only happen with veterans; PTSD can develop in anyone who has been assaulted, involved in any kind of accident, abuse, tragic loss of a close person, or hurricane victims. There are many symptoms that can be seen in people who have this disorder; however, the symptoms can be different between adults and children. The initial dispersion of the binder in the powder depends upon viscosity and shear rate applied. (Schaefer, 1996) Binder viscosity also controls the consolidation rate and hence subsequent growth via coalescence. (Ennis, et al., 1991). Results from Rough et al (2005) showed that increased temperature (lower viscosity), the regimes are reached faster because the binder is able to distribute more effectively in the mixture at a given shear rate which is in accordance with the work reported by Schaefer et al (1996). As LAS paste quantity was increased, mixing time required to form designated regimes decreased. Work done by Hibare (2012) showed that the peak modal granule diameter stays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the crumble regime, bulk density and porosity of the granules display significant turning points. Rough et al (2005) also stated that the crumble regime is a key stage in the agglomeration mechanism as it is the point between macro and micro mixing. Hibare (2012) concluded that as binder to solid ratio increases, granulation time to achieve a particular size distribution decreases. Hibare (2012) also showed that granule strength decreases as binder to solid ratio increases due to more liquid content in the granules in both reactive and non reactive binder systems. 2.2 High Viscous (Detergent) vs Low Viscous Granulation Mechanisms According to the research work on a high viscous binder detergent granulation system of LAS (high viscosity binder) and zeolite carried out by Rough et al (2005), they found that at a higher impeller speed, size distribution had the same peak modal diameter, a narrower peak width and less vol% of bigger granule diameter. Comparing findings from Rough et al (2005) detergent granulation with pharmaceutical granulation of lactose and PEG melt (low viscosity binder) carried out by Schaefer et al (1993), Schaefer et al (1993) reported a larger peak modal diameter and a narrower size distribution at higher speed. • 11. Summary Of Seven Years In Tibet Ann Braun RS 390 Movie Review ( Seven Years in Tibet) November 20, 2017 For this student of Buddhism, the movie Seven Years in Tibet was a historically correct, religiously sound, and moving depiction of the beauty and power of this eastern non monotheistic faith. Furthermore, the grand biography of the Austrian climber Heinrich Harrier, not only illustrated the supernatural aspects of the faith, but also its folkloric magic. Additionally, it tackled the political struggles, both externally and parochially, that embroiled the country in the aftermath of World War II. Moreover, so poignant were these struggles that the Chinese government banned both the lead actor and the producer from ever visiting China. Lastly, the main theme of the movie, was one of purification and redemption in the tale of how an egotistical mountain climber evolved when exposed to this compassionate and generous culture. Jean Jacque Annaud sets most of this epic film in the pilgrimage city of Lhasa, were the young Dalai Lama resides( Strong 264). Here the story illustrates the many oddities of Tibetan Buddhism such as the magic rituals that are both part of both Buddhism and earlier folk beliefs. For instance, the Tibetans are most afraid of foreigners, and the movie shows the people using Tantras ( magic), and making hand gestures or mudras to drive away evil (Robinson 123 124). For example, travelers sticking their tongues out when meeting strangers, a ritual for which neither the text nor the film offered any explanation. Just as interesting is the sounds that transport the viewer into the setting, with hand clapping and bells, both rituals for keeping evil away( Robinson 124). Moreover, the most powerful use of tantra magic is a scene where the monks have created a large mandala or power circle, in hopes of affecting a peaceful solution to the conflict with the communist Chinese government. When the Chinese generals stride through the meticulously created chalk masterpiece, destroying the work as they go, the audience understands that both Tibet and Buddhism are doomed. Another example of the supernatural is the Dalai Lamas prophetic powers, as the thirteenth predicts that foreigners will overrun Tibet, and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Suicide In Dido s Lament By Mark Morris Dido s Lament , choreographed by Mark Morris, is an emotional dance theatre piece that illustrates the tale of Queen Dido, a character from the opera Dido and Aeneas, who prepares to commit suicide after feeling betrayed by Aeneas, a man with whom she fell in love with. Because the character that Morris is portraying is preparing to commit suicide due to being heartbroken, Morris wanted to translate this tragic and moving concept of suicide through not only his movement phrases, but through the dark setting created onstage by the performers as well. As the title suggests, the word lament , as well as the concept of suicide and despair, were the main elements on which Morris built the dance piece on. Through the dark ambiance and slow, dramatic movements onstage, Morris expresses to the audience through story how emotional grief, inner conflict, and sadness are. Mark Morris formed the Mark Morris Dance Group in 1980, and was famous for the power of his dancing and the musicality he chose to utilize with his performances, while still being graceful and delicate. This week wordpress has been encouraging a daily post of flash fiction and it helped me identify a direction I could take to write my flash fiction post of two days ago. However, yesterday I went back to the site to see if I could mine it more for inspiration. It suggested an introduction very, very similar to my post of the twenty fifth. This is what it had for me: The afternoon when my brother murdered his wife, I became a millionaire s tailor. I was unhappy that what seemed promising to get some flash fiction rolling was quickly becoming redundant. Frankly, this sentence seems a little strange; it was refreshing to have a jump off point two days ago for flash fiction, but the same general composition would likely result if I went from there. The Mystery Of The Salem Witchcraft Trials The Mystery of the Salem Witchcraft Trials Jennifer Hollenbeck AP United States History Mrs. Price November 12, 2014 The Salem witchcraft trials were a particularly dark and mysterious time in the history of America. These trials that were arranged upon the belief of witchcraft could have multiple explanations. In my opinion these trials began as a combination between religious factors, boredom, social issues and all coming together in a mess of suspicion and deceit. Although these trials did start because of the Puritan s imagination, their true religious belief in witchcraft, childish antics, and their hatred for their neighbors helped to fuel their imagination. The people s imagination began to lead the people in the town of Salem, Massachusetts into a deadly witch hunt. The Salem Witchcraft Trials were a series of trials in Salem, Massachusetts which accused many local women with witchcraft. The legal proceedings began in the spring of 1692. More than two hundred people were accused of this witchcraft. Of these two hundred people twenty were executed. The setting at the time of the Salem witchcraft trials was a period of unrest. There was increasing tension between the two main parts of Salem, which included Salem Village and Salem Town. Salem town was a bustling port with a number of shops, large merchant s houses, and local government buildings. • 28. Buddhist Buddhism And Food Of Buddhism Buddhist Vegetarianism and Foods In China, Buddhism is an ancient religion with numerous followers. Vegetarians are generally regarded as Buddhists because people know that Buddhism is a religion that prohibits eating meat. Buddhism originated in ancient India, which found by a prince of realm called Gautama Buddha in three thousand years ago. (Henry, 2012) It spread to China in the Western Han Dynasty. It not only brought a new religion for China, but also had a profound impact on the vegetarian culture at that time. We will describe the relationship between the Buddhism and its vegetarian culture through food varieties of vegetarian diet, dishes, and the benefits to the human body. Food varieties of Buddhist Vegetarianism Buddhists mainly eat grains, legumes, vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds. A lot of people have stereotype of Buddhist, which monks do not eat meat because it is considered breaking no killing rule. However, that is not entirely true. Buddhism does not forbid its followers to eat meat at the beginning. Moreover, there are many different stringent requirements for whether or what kind of meat Buddhists can eat depend on different sects of Buddhism. Thus, Buddhism does not have a uniform standard diet. Views of different Religious Sect Due to descendants different understanding and interpretation of the Dharma, the teachings, doctrines has to be made to adapt the new environment. • 29. The Importance Of Spiritual Discipline God intends the Disciplines of the spiritual life to be for ordinary human beings: people who have jobs, who care for children, who wash dishes and mow lawns (Foster, 1998, Page 1). Spiritual Discipline should be a natural part of the Christian life, not a process that one only practices on Sunday at church. Just as a prize fighter must train by exercising, eating right and meditating on the big fight, so should Christians when it comes to our spiritual discipline. Spiritual Discipline is a process that takes the believer from sinful existence into a Christ like life that is pleasing to God. Spiritual formation is the link that connects mankind to God. If that link is severed, the believer is exposed to sin thus causing one to live a life outside of the will of God. Although spiritual discipline is the cornerstone to self discipline, it is also vital to living a life with balanced spiritual formation. Balanced spiritual formation is cultivated in the company of like minded comrades and sensitive confidants (Pettit, 2008, Page 78). This message goes together with Hebrews 10:24 25 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching (NIV, emphasis added). This important like minded and meeting together is what God intended to draw strength from other believers, bringing about balanced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Systematic Worth In Fahrenheit 451 Systematic Worth: How Society Has Caused Imperfection by Reaching for Perfection No one knows you better than you know yourself. This fabled quote implies a sense of of self awareness for an individual, and in a way, it passively rejects the societal norms and outside judgements towards that individual. However, the world seeks a systematic approach to determining the capability and worth of individuals. This system, whether imposed by the government, social norms, or society itself, will always create problems for individuals because of the individuality of each human being. This makes a perfect model impossible. The next question is why? Why do people depend on validation from such an imperfect system when it only causes problems? Is there any other type of worth that rewards more than systematic validation , perhaps capable of connecting to the uniqueness of the individual on a personal level? Worth is more meaningful when determined by the individual rather than by a system because true worth comes from within, as opposed to that of the fickle outside world. Self worth can often be described as the sense of an individual s value as a person. Its importance relates to the key question everyone asks themselves: what s the purpose of life? Self worth sometimes stresses people to choose whatever decisions they make. In Fahrenheit 451, although Bradbury shows a bipolarity in Guy s personality, Guy ultimately demonstrates this free will after a revelation of what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Simulacra And Science Fiction By Jean Baudrillard Think about the last time you sent a text in order to communicate with another person. You may have been under the impression that you were talking with someone, but in reality you were simply pressing down on your phone and watching the pixels on the screen move. According to Jean Baudrillard s ideologies, you were the mere product of a simulation. In Simulacra and Simulations and Simulacra and Science Fiction , author and sociologist Jean Baudrillard explains this phenomenon by exploring the concept of simulacrum and simulations. Baudrillard argues that we live in a simulation that is more real than reality, and thus no longer even bears a resemblance to reality. In other words, the reality we think we know is really just an illusion. One movie with an exceptional amount of parallels to Baudrillard s ideologies is The Matrix, directed by the Wachowskis. Many people believe that foundation of The Matrix s plot is based off Baudrillard s philosophies, however this has been met with numerous counterarguments. While The Matrix s plot may correspond with many Baudrillard s beliefs, it is my belief that The Matrix is not solely based on Baudrillard s works but instead incorporates ideas from a variety of different sources. Although people may assume that the terms simulacra and simulation are interchangeable, it is important to specify how they differ. The chapter, Simulacra and Simulations in Selected Writings opens with quote from Ecclesiastes stating [t]he simulacrum ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Reluctant Fundamentalist US immigration is a major component of The Reluctant Fundamentalist, and contributes greatly to the plot as well. Hamid s use of US immigration affects the plot of the story as it connects to the theme of identity, through the use of ashamed tone as well as precise diction. First of all, the use of ashamed tone demonstrates how US immigration is associated with the theme of identity. For example, as Changez rides in a limousine with his colleagues, he spots a Filipino driver: There was an undisguised hostility in his expression; I had no idea why ... But his dislike was so obvious, so intimate, that it got under my skin. I stared back at him, getting angry at myself. (67). The words hostility and dislike emphasize the negative perception ... For instance, as Changez arrives at Manila with Underwood Samson, he states: Perhaps it was for this reason that I did something in Manila I had never done before: I attempted to act and speak, as much as my dignity would permit, more like an American. Even though Changez is a US immigrant, it is suggested that he still acted in a Pakistani behavior, as he states how he had never specifically acted in the stereotypical American way. Additionally, the fact that Changez attempts to act like an American demonstrates how his identity isn t just American, but also Pakistani as well. This defines the theme of identity, as Changez feels troubled and confused about where he really is from, and where his loyalties lie. Furthermore, Changez states how at Manila, he learned to answer, when asked where [he] was from, that [he] was from New York. (65). Changez stating how he was specifically from New York shows how he identifies the place as home, similar to his real home in Pakistan. It is shown through previous chapters that New York contains many parts of Pakistani culture, explaining why Changez relates to New York in such a cheerful and excited tone. Even so, while many relate the US and New York as identical, Changez separates the two places, stating how America represents the egotistical, condescending behavior that it expresses on others. • 34. Animal Farm Animal Control Control, lies, and terror. These words describe the Animal Farm under Napoleon s rule. This 1945 book was based on the Russian revolution and used animals revolting against their owner to describe events that took place in the real life rebellion. Napoleon has proven himself a similar tyrant to Jones by acting controlling toward the animals, living the same lifestyle, and breaking his agreements. When Napoleon took leadership during the revolt against Farmer Jones, the power went straight to his head, and that started reflecting how he treated the animals after they took over the farm. Napoleon s actions were like a mirror; it reflected how Jones treated the animals before. It even came to the extent of taking away a tradition that animals keep dear to their heart because it shows honor and dignity. According to page 38 of Animal Farm, By George Orwell, ...by a special decree of Comrade Napoleon, Beast of England has been abolished. From now onwards it was forbidden to sing it. For Napoleon to gain more power he needed to take away something that the animals honor to show he is the leader now, but if that song were never stated, most of the animals would not have been motivated to help revolt against Farmer Jones. Every day the animals were being forced to work, and if they did not, they would not get enough food to survive. The animals were being treated like Napoleon s servants, but the animals were too gullible to bypass Squealer s lies. According to page 26 of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Realism, Modality and Truth Essay Realism, Modality and Truth ABSTRACT: Anti realists about the past claim that no one has yet manifested a knowledge of the truth of tensed instances of the realist schema ‡ (s is true · there is no evidence for s), instances such as ‡ ( Caesar crossed the Rubicon is true · there is no evidence for Caesar crossed the Rubicon ). It is true that we cannot decide specific instances of the realist schema and that, consequently, neither our understanding of these instances, nor our knowledge of their truth may be constituted by the recognitional and executive capacities which, according to Michael Dummett s antirealism, constitute grasp of meaning. Although we cannot decide these issues, we can meet Dummett s anti realist s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that anti realism about the past is false under both construals and I shall defend realism about the past against them. I obviously take realism to be a modal thesis about the relation between truth and its recognition, a thesis which says that the truth of statements in the past tense is independent from the obtaining of the sort of evidence which we normally rely on to recognize that they are true : testimonies, reports, documents, memories, and so on. It follows from this that the most promising way of arguing in its favour is to meet the now familiar Dummettian manifestability challenge . This is what I propose to do here. I shall address that challenge directly and conclude, contrary to Michael Dummett s anti realist, that (R) is true. I shall begin with a few words of caution regarding the content of the challenge. It is often taken for granted that anti realism of the Dummettian variety, either negatively or conditionally construed, is inferred from the provisional claim that no one has yet managed to show, or has yet even made clear, how one could manifest an understanding of the meaning of particular instances of (R), instances such as : (1) ‡ ( Caesar crossed the Rubicon is true · there is no evidence for Caesar crossed the Rubicon ). Dummett and other advocates of semantic anti realism like Crispin Wright and Neil Tennant, have indeed repeatedly insisted that the anti realist s challenge must be met within the theory of meaning, ... • 37. The Loss Of Helen Keller In Everyday Life There are many privileges in daily life that people take for granted at most times. When an average person wakes up in the morning to the sound of birds chirping and the sight of sunlight shining through his or her bedroom window, he or she may not think of how others in the world do not have these seemingly insignificant gifts. Helen Keller was one of many people who had the gift of seeing and hearing taken away at a young age. She never had many experiences or opportunities that the majority of the population does, due to the handicap she was burdened with at just 19 months old. For many, losing the ability to see and hear can be detrimental if he or she does not accommodate their daily life to their situation. For Helen Keller, she was only ... A deaf person would not likely be able to communicate through simply speaking, or if he or she did, she may not be easily understood because she cannot hear the sounds she is making. Someone with severe hearing loss, or has lost their hearing altogether, would not be able to enjoy music in the same way as someone that hears well. Someone who is hard of hearing can learn sign language in order to communicate with any other person that understands sign language. They could also hire an interpreter, who is able to relay spoken information to the deaf person in sign language, as well as verbally saying to hearing people what the person is communicating through sign language. A deaf person would not be able to listen to music anymore, but they can still feel vibrations made by the sound waves. • 38. Essay On Nanowires Abstract This paper provides an overview of the ongoing developments and research efforts on nanowires. It is a brief survey of the types of materials used and the applications associated with nanowire research. It is a method combining laser ablation, cluster formation and vapour liquid solid growth (VLS). In this process, laser ablation was used to prepare nanometer diameter catalyst clusters that define the size of wires produced by VLS growth. This approach was used to prepare bulk quantities of uniform single crystal silicon and germanium nanowires with diameters of 6 20 and 3 9 nm. Studies carried out with different conditions and catalyst materials confirmed the central detail of the growth mechanisms and suggests that face ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Visvesvaraya Institute of Technology Krishnadevarayanagar, Hunasamaranahalli, Bangalore 562 157 India (prakriti.adhya97@gmail.com) II. NANOWIRE SYNTHESIS Many of the papers included in this survey concentrated on methods or materials used to synthesize nanowires. Most nanowire synthesis occurs via Vapor Liquid Solid (VLS) processes. VLS processes use a liquid catalyst to draw components out of a vapor phase and deposit them in a solid phase. While terms such as laser ablation and chemical vapor deposition may often be used to describe the synthesis technique used in a particular experiment, this commonly refers only to the means by which the vapor phase is produced or transported. For example, laser ablation uses a laser to vaporize a source material, forming the vapor phase that is absorbed and later deposited by the catalyst droplet as the nanowire grows. Silicon nanowires often are synthesized through VLS processes [1 3]. Specifically, a substrate is coated with gold nanoparticles and then heated until the gold melts and forms tiny droplets. A silicon containing vapor, typically silane, or SiH4, is then passed over the substrate. At the vapor gold interface, silicon atoms are stripped from the silane and are absorbed into the nanoparticles. When the saturation limit of silicon in gold has been reached, the silicon precipitates out of the droplet onto the substrate. This precipitate builds up and lifts the catalyst away from the substrate, giving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
