Abstract: Child labour continues to be a problem even today in many parts of the world. These
children are mostly inhabitants of poor undeveloped nations of South America, Africa and Asia.
They live in harsh conditions with almost no access to education. The income earned by them,
however minimal, is necessary to feed and clothe their families who are dependent on them. The
families have no other option but to push their children to work in various informal industrial and
agricultural sectors in order to make ends meet. They are simply not aware of the harm this does to
their young children nor is there an orientation to send these children to school instead. The
Government of India has taken a lot of legal initiatives in order to address this serious issue of child
labour. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has been proactively involved in the
eradication of this malaise plaguing Indian society. India is also a participant in the United Nation
s International Program on Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC) under the aegis of ILO. The
present paper will look at the various causes which lead to child labour, the international and
national legislations that are in place to eliminate this glaring menace and the steps which must be

reason why they would seem animal testing as acceptable is that it would be less cruel to test on a

Another argument that disagrees with my point is that animal testing does not benefit humans

written this to collate and analyse a broad range of international community practice with respect to
civil conflicts and coup d etat, and to investigate how this practice, which has changed in the past

seasonal (Reddam s wetland is seasonal). Wetlands are different to other ecosystems because they
support aquatic flora and fauna. There are different types of wetlands including marshes, swamps,
bogs and fens.
Ecological status refers to the state in which a specific ecosystem is. The testing of a wetland s
ecological status refers to determining the health of the wetland with careful consideration of the
ecosystem involved. This can be determined by looking at the following: physical factors such as
temperature, water depth, hydrology and structure; biological factors such as birds, animals and
vegetation; chemical factors such as pH levels, turbidity and oxygen.
A healthy wetland is able to benefit its own ecosystem as well as the ecosystems surrounding the
wetland. A healthy wetland is able to support the flora and fauna within the ecosystem and still

distinguished officer to just an exhausted instrument of the Soviet state. Solzhenitsyn describes
early on in the book about the cryptic nature of the gulag. No one knows and no one asks about the
gulags. The only way to get to the fabled islands is to be a member within the Ministry of
Internal Affairs, a conscripted guard, or one of the millions sent to their doom. This same
mysticism is projected well into his work, as the Gulag Archipelago was a banned piece of work
by the communist party. The reader can feel a risky nature to reading the novel.
