Great Gatsby Title Analysis
The not so Great Gatsby would be a good title for this chapter had Fitzgerald took the time to title
each chapter. This is the first chapter where the reader meets Gatsby. The entrance of Gatsby is
nothing short of average and it even has a dull tone to it. Fitzgerald builds up the intensity of the party
drastically before Gatsby enters to show the reader that his reputation is much stronger than his actual
character. Additionally, Fitzgerald also informs the reader with subtle hints that Gatsby s life is
missing something. That something would be a woman to share his life with. Also, although Nick said
he reserves judgement of other people, his judgement of Gatsby trickles through the crack with their
initial encounter. If Nick, the person who admires Gatsby to a great extent can find time to judge, it
shows that Gatsby is tantamount to people with much less wealth than himself. Therefore, the Not so
Great Gatsby would be an efficient title name. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fitzgerald picks up the intensity of the party the right before Gatsby enters. The author even says, By
midnight the hilarity had increased . There were drunken men and women surrounding Gatsby s yard
along with loud music and people doing stunts. At a party of this scale, it is very easy for one to have
their own privacy and not be noticed. This is just what Gatsby does. When Nick first begins speaking
with Gatsby, he does not know he is even speaking with him. Nick thinks that this man is just a
random party goer.To support this Gatsby goes on to say, I thought you knew, old sport . I believe
Fitzgerald does this to show Gatsby s real significance. This is showing, other than Gatsby s vulgar
display of wealth, that he is no more important or better than anyone else at the party. I also believe he
does this to show how much Gatsby lacks in his actual

Food Insecurity In Sub-Saharan Africa
Food is a necessary part of ever individual s daily life. Without food, the body cannot function
properly, resulting in poor health, exhaustion, and even death by starvation. Therefore, food insecurity
continues to be an international global epidemic. The journal article by Harrigan suggests that the
citizens of the Sub Saharan African country of Malawia are in further poverty due to their lack of food
and agricultural resources. The newspaper article from the Guardian tells the real life story of African
citizens struggling to farm and find food due to the crop shortages that have spanned Africa for the
past two years. This is a current global issue, and the journal and news article prove that there is much
to be done in order to help restore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only is this proof, but it also provides intimate details that attract readers and act as a call to action
to help the people of sub Saharan Africa. In contrast to the academic article, this piece tells a story
rather than a statistical statement. It uses real individuals experiencing the hunger, pain, and
exhaustion, thereby adding emotional appeal to the news piece in order to persuade readers for more
help. Moreover, statistical facts are also extremely important when analyzing food security. One must
understand that the numbers mean more than a digit on a page; they are a measure of human suffering,
pain, and hunger. The data recorded by Statistics Canada in 2012 showed that the highest level of food
insecurity was in isolated provinces and territories, as well as where there was a higher level of
poverty (Roshanafshar Hawkins, 2015). This data can be deemed accurate because not only is a
government of Canada report, it also follows the trend that impoverished places fall into higher levels
of food insecurity. Due to how isolated the most impoverished territories are it can be difficult to
import food, find a steady job, or have access to

Types of Channels in Marketing
Channel levels Most businesses use third parties or intermediaries to bring their products to market.
They try to forge a distribution channel which can be defined as all the organisations through which a
product must pass between its point of production and consumption Why does a business give the job
of selling its products to intermediaries? After all, using intermediaries means giving up some control
over how products are sold and who they are sold to. The answer lies in efficiency of distribution
costs. Intermediaries are specialists in selling. They have the contacts, experience and scale of
operation which means that greater sales can be achieved than if the producing business tried run a
sales operation itself. Channel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

middlemen will get the product from the manufactures and the discount schedule. It also mentions the
price at which middlemen may sell the product. * Condition of sales: The manufacturing firm
stipulates mode or payment terms. For example, some firms ask middlemen to put a deposit with
them. Some other firms insist payment to reach them on the day the intermediary takes physical
possession of the goods. Others may accept a letter of credit as a payment mode .Credit policy of the
manufacturer stipulates the period in which it must get paid. * Territorial Rights: The manufacturer
should spell out the territorial jurisdiction of each of the distributor to avoid any territory jumping.
This will also help in the distributor s evaluation. * Mutual services and responsibilities should be
spelt out, particularly in case of franchised and exclusive agency channels. Channel Management

selected, motivated amp; evaluated. 1. Selecting channel members For some producers this is easy; for
others it s a pain in the ass. Anyway, in order to select them,

How Have Gender Stereotypes Changed Over The Years
The way people look at gender has changed quickly over the past few years. Gender has always been a
social topic on what boys should do and what girls should do. The new generation of young adults
seem to break the mold of gender stereotypes with effortless ease. I have seen many classmates and
many schools changing the status quo of gender within the last few years. My generation has a
different opinion on gender stereotypes than my grandparents and even my parents. Gender
stereotypes are rapidly changing with each generation, whether it be through sports or the occupations
people have.
My Grandparents went to high school in the mid 1950 s and women were not allowed to play many
sports back then. My Grandma told me that they thought the girls would get hurt. My grandmother
played basketball and they didn t let the girls cross the half court line. They had three girls on each
side so that they did not over exert themselves. Nowadays, girls can play almost any sport they want.
Hockey is a good example of how girls can play sports that are typically played by males. Most people
think of hockey as an aggressive contact sport, similar to football or Rugby. There are so many girls
now that play hockey with the same intensity and physicality as men. A female friend of mine who
went to middle school with me, played on a travel hockey team. If you saw her, she would not be
someone you would guess could be capable of playing an aggressive and physical sport like hockey.

What Is The Unity Of Effect In The Raven By Edgar Allan Poe
Martha Garbarini Ms. Hopkins P3 H English II September 23, 2015 Wondering Nevermore Edgar
Allan Poe was one of the most influential authors of his time, being highly regarded as a pivotal figure
of Romanticism in American Literature. For many, the name brings to mind images of madmen and
dark, twisted tales of fate. In Poe s work, he had a way of impacting his readers deeply, through
language choice, all, and elaborate imagery. In one of Poe s most acclaimed works, The Raven, unity
of effect is achieved very well through skillful language choice. In stanza sixteen, Poe writes, By that
Heaven that bends above us by that God we both adore Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the
distant Aidenn, It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels name Lenore. Simply put, Poe could
ve chosen much more basic words that didn t create the same effect that these words did on the reader;

In Schubert s Erlking, there is the narrator, father, son, and the Erlking, which is all song by one
person. Because the Erlking is done by one person, that one singer is to deliver each character in its
fitting tone. The frighten child is song in a high register in minor, while the father is sung in a low
register that distinguishes with the high pitched of the son cries, and the Erlking has modest melodies
in major keys. The Goethe s ballad tells a story of a father riding on a horseback through a storm with
his ailing child in his arms, as the child is being followed by the Erlking which denotes death. At the
very beginning of the Erlking, the piano begins with rapid octaves. It is said that the triplet rhythm
unifies the occurrence of the song and suggests that it represent the horse s dash. The narrator then
paints the perfect picture so that you are able to perceive this wild late ride as the farther holds his
unwell son so tight and closely to him. As the Goethe ballad continues the son cries out to his father,
my father in a forte tone to inform him of the Erlking and his presents. The father, who uses a lower
register tone, try to consol the boy and keep him calm by suggesting that the Erlking is a streak of mist
and the whispering promises from the Erlking was only wind rustling in the dead leaves. After the son
cried out for the last time to his father even louder than before, My father, my father, now he is taking
hold of me! The Erlking has hurt me!

The Importance of Dna Evidence
The Importance of DNA Evidence
What is DNA? Is it these winding strands that look like ladders or is it what gives a person blonde hair
and blue eyes? Actually, DNA is both of these things. DNA is a person s genetic makeup their
hereditary blueprint passed on by their parents. It is a part of almost every cell in the human body. In
each cell, a person s DNA is the same; it stays the same throughout their lifetime. DNA is found in
skin tissue, sweat, bone, the root and shaft of hair, earwax, mucus, urine, semen, and vaginal or rectal
cells. The DNA found in a person s saliva is the same as the DNA found in their blood. Parts of the
DNA determine our physical characteristics, such as eye and hair color, height, and bone structure, but

Every State in the Nation has a DNA database that allows for the collection of DNA profiles from
offenders convicted of particular crimes. CODIS software enables State, local, and national law
enforcement crime laboratories to compare DNA profiles electronically, thereby linking serial crimes
to each other and identifying suspects by matching DNA profiles from crime scenes with profiles from
convicted offenders. The success of CODIS is demonstrated by the thousands of matches that have
linked serial cases to each other and cases that have been solved by matching crime scene evidence to
known convicted offenders.
Recent advancements in DNA technology have improved law enforcement s ability to use DNA to
solve old cases. Original forensic applications of DNA analysis were developed using a technology
called restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP). Although very old cases (more than 10
years) may not have had RFLP analysis done, this kind of DNA testing may have been attempted on
more recent unsolved cases. However, because RFLP analysis required a relatively large quantity of
DNA, testing may not have been successful. Similarly, biological evidence deemed insufficient in size
for testing may not have been previously submitted for testing. Also, if a biological sample was
degraded by environmental factors such as dirt or mold, RFLP analysis may have been unsuccessful at
yielding a result (Turman).
Although DNA technology can be used in criminal cases

The Differences Of Luke And John s Gospels
In many ways, the ministry of Jesus Christ can be understood through his interactions with other
people. In particular, Jesus interactions with others while sharing a meal often reveal the heart of his
ministry. The simple act of eating with another is mentioned in all four of the Gospels, especially in
the gospels of Luke and John. Luke and John s Gospels use stories of Jesus eating with others to
highlight the most important aspect of his ministry, sacrificial and radical love for the other.
Of the four Gospels, Luke s contains the most accounts of food. Mark Allen Powell comments on the
food motif in this Gospel, saying that there are nineteen different meals found in Luke. Luke is a part
of the three Synoptic Gospels, the other two being the Gospels of Mark and Matthew. Many of the
stories found in Luke s Gospel are also found in the other Synoptic Gospels and elaborated upon in his
own. However, Powell notes that thirteen of the stories in which food are involved are unique to Luke
s Gospel. Luke s author deliberately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
John s Gospel contains more poetic language and almost ninety percent of its material cannot be found

Synoptic Gospels. While John s account also takes place during the Passover, it does not depict the
meal in the same way that Luke s Gospel does. Unlike Luke s Gospel, John s Gospel does not describe
the actual Passover meal. Rather, it takes place after the meal has finished and the group is still at the
table. John s Gospel describes Jesus as washing the disciples feet, a moment that was shocking to the
disciples. At this moment, Jesus acts similarly to that of a servant washing the feet of their master.
Jesus, rather than acting as a religious superior, humbles himself to become a servant to his friends. In
doing so, he encourages them to become vulnerable in his

Why Curfew Hourss Are Important For Teens
The ways teens act nowadays are really diverse between the new and old. Curfew hours are really
important for teens and their own safety.Although they are home certain times, this does not

Pandora Compare And Contrast Essay
Another important requirement for the process of natural selection among species is having a variety
of traits. The variation of traits to be selected upon by the environment allows for the changing of
allele frequencies among the generations of the population. One of the main sources for genetic
variation is sexual reproduction, which occurred between members of the Na vi and members of the
Thanator species. Sexual reproduction among members of a species can lead to genetic mutations in
the DNA, which can attribute to the variability of genes. One obvious variable trait among the
hominid species of Pandora is their height. The males were typically seen to be taller in height than
the females, but with each member having a different height the trait can vary among offspring. If the
environment demands for taller offspring then it will naturally select for that trait among individuals,

The species throughout Pandora also seem to have homologous characteristics among each other. A
homologous structure is essentially an anatomical similarity between organisms of different species
that are representative of variations on a structural basis and are derived from a common ancestor.
Different homologous structures are present depending on the species and their kingdom, for example
mammals tend to have pelvic bones and fish do not. Homology Between the Hominids and Various
Species on Pandora Much homology exists between the hominid species of Pandora and the other
species, such as the fact that the hominids have four fingers and toes on each hand and foot, and the
thanator species has four finger like claws on each foot. This even number of phalanges between both
species must be beneficial to both of them in some way, enough so that it has become a heritable trait

The Civil War and American Art Exhibit at the New York...
On Saturday, June 15 I attended the Civil War and American Art exhibit at the New York Metropolitan
Museum of Art. There were a number of different people who were present on this occasion. I believe
there were so many people there because this is one of the better known art galleries throughout New
York. Additionally, the fact that today was part of the weekend probably contributed to the massive
crowds of people present. Not everyone was there to attend the Civil War and American Art exhibit,
however; there were several other exhibits taking place in different locations throughout the museum
that day. The exhibit contained upwards of 20 photographs and at least 60 paintings. One of the most
agreeable things about the works of art that I witnessed is that collectively, they assisted in recounting
the sentiment that gripped the country during the war that threatened to sunder it. One could almost
feel the initial enthusiasm as the war broke out, that was swiftly prolonged by numerous clashes over a
period of years. There were works that alluded to an impending war, ones that depicted that war, and
numerous ones that hinted at a hoped for ending in which the mightiness of the country would
someday be restored. One of the pieces that I found to be the most moving was Frederic Edwin
Church s Our Banner in the Sky , which was painted during the war s outset in 1861. This is one of the
pieces in which the enthusiasm for the war was quite clearly seen. In this work, the

Similarities Between Dracula And Wide Sargasso Sea
Dracula by Bram Stoker and Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys published in 1897 and 1966
respectively, both echo public and private societal expectations of women at the time. Stoker s novel
was written during the birth of first wave feminism, a period where women were beginning to be seen
as more than sexual objects for male pleasure. Women campaigned for female agency which resulted
in the birth of the new woman . Similarly, Rhys novel focuses on the discrimination faced as a Creole
woman suffering from mental illness. Thus, the ways in which both authors convey significant themes
such as racism, gender disparity and social class can be compared in further detail. Initially, the titles
of both novels also provide a strong grounding to understanding the status of women at the time. Rhys
novel refers to the Sargasso Sea, located in the Atlantic Ocean. This is known for the infamous
Bermuda Triangle, described as an oceanic black hole where ships disappear under mysterious
circumstances. One interpretation of this title could imply that characters may be imprisoned in their
personal Bermuda Triangle , where Antoinette grapples with her racial identity as a white Creole.
Furthermore, the Sargassum is a weed native to the Sargasso Sea, which was symbolic of neglect,
devastation, and disorder. [1] This echoes the sentiments of the protagonist of the novella, Antoinette.
Antoinette embodies the inherent misogyny prevalent during the 20th Century, where women were

The Neo Nazis And The Nazi War Essay
After being given power over the German s Worker Party, Hitler aided in bolstering its ranks from a
measly seven members, he was the seventh official member, to well over three thousand likeminded
people. (Marrs 20). In April of 1920, Hitler renamed the political group to the Nationalsozialistiche
Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, or the National Socialist German Worker s Party, which was shortened to
Nazi. (Marrs 21). Nazi is a term synonymous with evil in our time, and what it stands for casts a long
shadow over what is arguably the darkest times in modern history. Now seen as little more than one of
the many modern white supremacist movements, the Neo Nazis, one might find it little more than
conspiracy theory to claim that the United States of America is a repackaged National Socialist
Government, or a fourth Reich. Author Jim Marrs writes, Under the banner of freedom and
democracy, yet pursuing the agenda of the globalist who supported the Nazis, the United States slowly
turned from one of the most admired nations in the world to one of the most despised. (235 236).
To understand the significance of the claim that America today is, in quintessence, a successor of Nazi
policy and not simply theory the past has to be reexamined. In the year 1945 President Harry Truman
authorized Operation Paperclip after he was promised that no one with Nazi or military records would

moves on in the poem, and her voice gets more and more passionate as she continues to develop her
list of ways she loves her husband, she builds each line s rhythm to match this mood. By the time we

punctuation, a period, comma or otherwise to create a pause and contain a complete thought. Lines
which end this way are called end stopped. Reading through Sonnet 43 , we notice that five of the 14
lines do not end with a set pause; rather, they are enjambed. Enjambed means to carry over; this term
describes how one line flows into the next without hesitation. To try to understand what Barrett

what the mood of the poem is where she breaks the rules. In the first stanza, as she begins to count the

As your lady is aware the advertisement identified that the offer was to remain open until the end of
March. One would likely presume this meant the offer was open until the 31st of the month and this
was the day on which the appellant expressed his wish to withdraw his offer. The 31st however fell
upon a Saturday, a day on which the shop was closed for trading. The law in question must therefore
consider if the remained open until the last day of March or the offer did in fact finish on the last day
of trading in march, which would have been Friday the 30th. The Court of Appeal Case of Dickson
and Dodds as reported in ********* held that if an offer clearly states it is open until a certain date, it

Although this case involved an invitation to tender and not an invitation to treat, of notable
significance, was that the defendant was bound to check the mail on the last day. And as he did not, he
was found to be at fault. Although emphasis was placed on the above case concerning a tender, and
not an offer, similarities between the case details are evident. Although respondent is not bound to
consider all offers as a result of an invitation to treat, due to him already entering into part negotiations
by stating he would consider the appellants offer. The respondent may therefore be bound to check the
post on the final day of the offer incase any letters had arrived from the appellant. Further emphasis
may be placed on this, due to the fact that one of his offers had been made via postal communication.
Therefore it is likely that further means of communication from the appellant would also likely to be
in the form of postal communication. It is notable that the Law of contract adopts an objective
approach when identifying if the parties can be seen to have come to an agreement. Thus an objective
assessment is made of the content of their agreement, and an interpretation to be put on the language
by which it was constituted. In the ****** case of Centrovincial Estates Plc V Merchant Investors

1 .Explain how the desire to win can lead a prosecutor to pursue a case that should be dropped or
choose to not disclose evidence that would exonerate a defendant. How does the
organizational/occupational culture affect their motivations?
The prosecutor s interest in the prosecution is to win, and for the unscrupulous, unethical prosecutor to
win regardless of the guilt or innocence of the accused. The prosecutor s career path could be injured
by failing to win, showing the lack of skill as a prosecutor for a lost criminal case, or poor professional
judgment in obtaining an indictment which later was dismissed. The prosecutor s career path is
enhanced by being, and being known as the winner , which enables the prosecutor to get more ...

When the prosecutor responds to the announced wishes of the major media, the prosecutor is rewarded
with favorable publicity. But when the prosecutor fails to do the medium s bidding, the prosecutor can
expect to receive little or no publicity, which will put the prosecutor s career in a terminal, downward
tailspin.
Give a real life example of prosecutor misconduct and indicate briefly how/if that prosecutor was
punished?
In 1987 in Texas, a prosecutor was faced with this dilemma. Michael Morton was convicted of
murdering his wife based on circumstantial evidence. Morton s defense attorney was never told about,
or given access to, the police report in which Morton s three year old son had told police that his
daddy had not killed his mommy. After serving 25 years for murdering his wife, Morton was
exonerated after attorneys were finally given access to the police report and DNA testing of a bloody
bandana found at the scene of the murder matched a man who was serving a sentence for the murder
of another woman.
Ken Anderson the prosecutor in the case pled guilty to failing to disclose and got 10 days in jail, and
500 hours of community service.
2. What can be done to reduce prosecutorial misconduct? In my opinion extra judicial oversight could
be used to try and reduce prosecutorial misconduct.

Comparison of Lord of the Flies with Peter Pan
The Boys
The books Lord of the Flies by William Golding, and Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie, have similar
characteristics that will be compared and contrasted in this paper. Lord of the Flies takes place on a
deserted island where about 20 British boys have crashed during World War II. Peter Pan, dissimilarly,
tells the tale of a boy who doesn t want to grow up and lives on the magical island of Neverland with
the Lost Boys. Both Lord of the Flies and Peter Pan have common themes, symbols, and characters,
but, at the same time, differ. Lord of the Flies and Peter Pan share quite a few qualities. They have
themes that are in common, but also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The conch, that states whoever holds it is allowed to speak, possesses great authority. It also shows
that the Island Boys are trying to maintain their humanity by having an organization system. The
conch symbolizes brains and intelligence. It was Piggy s idea to have this rule, and he was the main
enforcer of it. When the conch shattered as Piggy died, it represented the loss of all hope. Their whole
system had officially ended.
In Peter Pan a significant symbol is that of the kiss and thimble. Wendy gives Peter a kiss , which is
actually a thimble, out of her newfound affection for him. Peter, however, doesn t realize the
significance of it, and naturally gives her an acorn in return. This act of giving kisses is only seen as
significant to Wendy at the time. Later, when the acorn saves Wendy s life, Peter grasps the
importance of it. This exchanging of kisses is also representing Wendy s growing up. She has that
yearning for romance that most young girls do, and has sought to find it in Peter.
The second set of symbols is not physical; instead they are heard. In Lord of the Flies, when the boys
kill a pig, they chant, Kill the pig. Cut her throat. Spill her blood. (pg. 69) When this rhythmic
shouting begins, death is always near; whether it is of a pig or a human. The clock that ticks from the
crocodile in Peter Pan has a similar meaning. Both evoke fear into

My Experience For A Student Leader For The Languages And...
Coming from a small town in the Appalachia Mountains of the Pennsylvania coal region, the only
escape from the white homogeneity was my language classes. When I came to Bucknell University, I

I will stay with a host family, which will add to my language and cultural immersion. Because the

Université François Rabelais, where I will be studying along with the Institute de Touraine. The

I also chose France for its astonishingly deep and rich culture throughout the country. The Bucknell en

the in residence faculty to local sites of interest, including cathedrals, abbeys and the famous Loire

Even though you might not know the soldier s name or where they were born they still made an

their jobs, to end slavery or to serve for their country. Prison camps was one of the main hardships

Comparing Matrix And Rene Descartes

The Matrix and Rene Descartes
Throughout this essay, I am going to break down and philosophically evaluate The Matrix. While
doing so, I am going to identify parts of skepticism and the mind body problems that can be detected
while watching this science fiction action film. This film has proposed many questions that have been
philosophized by Rene Descartes and Plato; I will use these ideas that they have offered to understand
how Neo discovers reality and the relationship of living or life through virtual reality.
At the beginning of, The Matrix, Neo seems to be flustered, and he questions his reality on multiple
occasions. The events that play out within the first few minutes and they make him wonder if he is in a

The Legacy Of The Philippines
The Philippines is one of many third world countries, and my family had fled this poverty ridden

earnestly to achieve a proper living. Unfortunately, they had also entered the U.S. during Ronald

Africanist Aesthetics are principles in the qualities of African dance, as well as other African art

as changing their perspective on immigration of foreigners. This change of perspective is due to the

Lord Of The Flies Jack Is A Leader Analysis
A powerful leader is one who knows how to lead with control and has strong leader characteristics. In
the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, some readers support the fact that Jack was a better
leader than Ralph, but others feel that Ralph was the better leader. Although several supporters feel
that Ralph is the best leader, it is evident that Jack is the better leader since he can effortlessly control
the group on the island.
It is clear that Jack is a better leader than Ralph because he is more of a demanding, manipulative
person. From the time the boys landed on the island, Jack was in control of the choir. The other boys,
led by Jack, run off in disorganized excitement to light the signal fire (Reilly, 3). This quote shows that
the boys followed in Jack s footsteps since they set foot on the island. Along with controlling the
choir, Jack challenged Ralph s opinions. We do not need the conch anymore. We know who ought to
say things (Reilly, 4). This quote demonstrates that Jack is making an attempt to control the group by
doing what is best for him, and he demands that the boys support his decisions. In addition, Jack s
main priority was to hunt and give them what they want. The point is that Jack is doing what he wants,
not what he ought (Reilly, 5). This quote illustrates that Jack is aware that he is the leader of the group,
for he is doing what he wants and not what he has to. Clearly, it is evident that Jack is the best choice

The Bolshevik Revolution And The Revolution
The Bolshevik revolution started in February 1917 and concluded in October with the seizure of
power. There were different aspects that lead to this victory. Bolsheviks had been a minority
previously, but after 1917 February they started gaining members rapidly and by 1917 October they
had 350, 000 members in the party. To see how they finally were victorious one would have to look at
the revolution as a longer phenomenon that took months to reach a final result. The workers were

Therefore, there were many violent uprisings that the government could not put an end to during the

  • 2. Great Gatsby Title Analysis The not so Great Gatsby would be a good title for this chapter had Fitzgerald took the time to title each chapter. This is the first chapter where the reader meets Gatsby. The entrance of Gatsby is nothing short of average and it even has a dull tone to it. Fitzgerald builds up the intensity of the party drastically before Gatsby enters to show the reader that his reputation is much stronger than his actual character. Additionally, Fitzgerald also informs the reader with subtle hints that Gatsby s life is missing something. That something would be a woman to share his life with. Also, although Nick said he reserves judgement of other people, his judgement of Gatsby trickles through the crack with their initial encounter. If Nick, the person who admires Gatsby to a great extent can find time to judge, it shows that Gatsby is tantamount to people with much less wealth than himself. Therefore, the Not so Great Gatsby would be an efficient title name. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fitzgerald picks up the intensity of the party the right before Gatsby enters. The author even says, By midnight the hilarity had increased . There were drunken men and women surrounding Gatsby s yard along with loud music and people doing stunts. At a party of this scale, it is very easy for one to have their own privacy and not be noticed. This is just what Gatsby does. When Nick first begins speaking with Gatsby, he does not know he is even speaking with him. Nick thinks that this man is just a random party goer.To support this Gatsby goes on to say, I thought you knew, old sport . I believe Fitzgerald does this to show Gatsby s real significance. This is showing, other than Gatsby s vulgar display of wealth, that he is no more important or better than anyone else at the party. I also believe he does this to show how much Gatsby lacks in his actual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Without food, the body cannot function properly, resulting in poor health, exhaustion, and even death by starvation. Therefore, food insecurity continues to be an international global epidemic. The journal article by Harrigan suggests that the citizens of the Sub Saharan African country of Malawia are in further poverty due to their lack of food and agricultural resources. The newspaper article from the Guardian tells the real life story of African citizens struggling to farm and find food due to the crop shortages that have spanned Africa for the past two years. This is a current global issue, and the journal and news article prove that there is much to be done in order to help restore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only is this proof, but it also provides intimate details that attract readers and act as a call to action to help the people of sub Saharan Africa. In contrast to the academic article, this piece tells a story rather than a statistical statement. It uses real individuals experiencing the hunger, pain, and exhaustion, thereby adding emotional appeal to the news piece in order to persuade readers for more help. Moreover, statistical facts are also extremely important when analyzing food security. One must understand that the numbers mean more than a digit on a page; they are a measure of human suffering, pain, and hunger. The data recorded by Statistics Canada in 2012 showed that the highest level of food insecurity was in isolated provinces and territories, as well as where there was a higher level of poverty (Roshanafshar Hawkins, 2015). This data can be deemed accurate because not only is a government of Canada report, it also follows the trend that impoverished places fall into higher levels of food insecurity. Due to how isolated the most impoverished territories are it can be difficult to import food, find a steady job, or have access to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They try to forge a distribution channel which can be defined as all the organisations through which a product must pass between its point of production and consumption Why does a business give the job of selling its products to intermediaries? After all, using intermediaries means giving up some control over how products are sold and who they are sold to. The answer lies in efficiency of distribution costs. • 6. How Have Gender Stereotypes Changed Over The Years The way people look at gender has changed quickly over the past few years. Gender has always been a social topic on what boys should do and what girls should do. The new generation of young adults seem to break the mold of gender stereotypes with effortless ease. I have seen many classmates and many schools changing the status quo of gender within the last few years. My generation has a different opinion on gender stereotypes than my grandparents and even my parents. Gender stereotypes are rapidly changing with each generation, whether it be through sports or the occupations people have. My Grandparents went to high school in the mid 1950 s and women were not allowed to play many sports back then. My Grandma told me that they thought the girls would get hurt. My grandmother played basketball and they didn t let the girls cross the half court line. They had three girls on each side so that they did not over exert themselves. Nowadays, girls can play almost any sport they want. Hockey is a good example of how girls can play sports that are typically played by males. Most people think of hockey as an aggressive contact sport, similar to football or Rugby. There are so many girls now that play hockey with the same intensity and physicality as men. A female friend of mine who went to middle school with me, played on a travel hockey team. If you saw her, she would not be someone you would guess could be capable of playing an aggressive and physical sport like hockey. She always ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Is The Unity Of Effect In The Raven By Edgar Allan Poe Martha Garbarini Ms. Hopkins P3 H English II September 23, 2015 Wondering Nevermore Edgar Allan Poe was one of the most influential authors of his time, being highly regarded as a pivotal figure of Romanticism in American Literature. For many, the name brings to mind images of madmen and dark, twisted tales of fate. In Poe s work, he had a way of impacting his readers deeply, through language choice, all, and elaborate imagery. In one of Poe s most acclaimed works, The Raven, unity of effect is achieved very well through skillful language choice. In stanza sixteen, Poe writes, By that Heaven that bends above us by that God we both adore Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn, It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels name Lenore. Actually, DNA is both of these things. DNA is a person s genetic makeup their hereditary blueprint passed on by their parents. It is a part of almost every cell in the human body. In each cell, a person s DNA is the same; it stays the same throughout their lifetime. DNA is found in skin tissue, sweat, bone, the root and shaft of hair, earwax, mucus, urine, semen, and vaginal or rectal cells. The success of CODIS is demonstrated by the thousands of matches that have linked serial cases to each other and cases that have been solved by matching crime scene evidence to known convicted offenders. Recent advancements in DNA technology have improved law enforcement s ability to use DNA to solve old cases. Original forensic applications of DNA analysis were developed using a technology called restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP). Although very old cases (more than 10 years) may not have had RFLP analysis done, this kind of DNA testing may have been attempted on more recent unsolved cases. However, because RFLP analysis required a relatively large quantity of DNA, testing may not have been successful. Similarly, biological evidence deemed insufficient in size for testing may not have been previously submitted for testing. • 11. The Differences Of Luke And John s Gospels In many ways, the ministry of Jesus Christ can be understood through his interactions with other people. In particular, Jesus interactions with others while sharing a meal often reveal the heart of his ministry. The simple act of eating with another is mentioned in all four of the Gospels, especially in the gospels of Luke and John. Luke and John s Gospels use stories of Jesus eating with others to highlight the most important aspect of his ministry, sacrificial and radical love for the other. Of the four Gospels, Luke s contains the most accounts of food. Mark Allen Powell comments on the food motif in this Gospel, saying that there are nineteen different meals found in Luke. Luke is a part of the three Synoptic Gospels, the other two being the Gospels of Mark and Matthew. The variation of traits to be selected upon by the environment allows for the changing of allele frequencies among the generations of the population. One of the main sources for genetic variation is sexual reproduction, which occurred between members of the Na vi and members of the Thanator species. Sexual reproduction among members of a species can lead to genetic mutations in the DNA, which can attribute to the variability of genes. There were a number of different people who were present on this occasion. I believe there were so many people there because this is one of the better known art galleries throughout New York. Additionally, the fact that today was part of the weekend probably contributed to the massive crowds of people present. Not everyone was there to attend the Civil War and American Art exhibit, however; there were several other exhibits taking place in different locations throughout the museum that day. The exhibit contained upwards of 20 photographs and at least 60 paintings. One of the most agreeable things about the works of art that I witnessed is that collectively, they assisted in recounting the sentiment that gripped the country during the war that threatened to sunder it. One could almost feel the initial enthusiasm as the war broke out, that was swiftly prolonged by numerous clashes over a period of years. There were works that alluded to an impending war, ones that depicted that war, and numerous ones that hinted at a hoped for ending in which the mightiness of the country would someday be restored. One of the pieces that I found to be the most moving was Frederic Edwin Church s Our Banner in the Sky , which was painted during the war s outset in 1861. This is one of the pieces in which the enthusiasm for the war was quite clearly seen. In this work, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Similarities Between Dracula And Wide Sargasso Sea Dracula by Bram Stoker and Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys published in 1897 and 1966 respectively, both echo public and private societal expectations of women at the time. Stoker s novel was written during the birth of first wave feminism, a period where women were beginning to be seen as more than sexual objects for male pleasure. Women campaigned for female agency which resulted in the birth of the new woman . Similarly, Rhys novel focuses on the discrimination faced as a Creole woman suffering from mental illness. Thus, the ways in which both authors convey significant themes such as racism, gender disparity and social class can be compared in further detail. Initially, the titles of both novels also provide a strong grounding to understanding the status of women at the time. Rhys novel refers to the Sargasso Sea, located in the Atlantic Ocean. This is known for the infamous Bermuda Triangle, described as an oceanic black hole where ships disappear under mysterious circumstances. One interpretation of this title could imply that characters may be imprisoned in their personal Bermuda Triangle , where Antoinette grapples with her racial identity as a white Creole. Furthermore, the Sargassum is a weed native to the Sargasso Sea, which was symbolic of neglect, devastation, and disorder. [1] This echoes the sentiments of the protagonist of the novella, Antoinette. Antoinette embodies the inherent misogyny prevalent during the 20th Century, where women were often reduced ... The Neo Nazis And The Nazi War Essay After being given power over the German s Worker Party, Hitler aided in bolstering its ranks from a measly seven members, he was the seventh official member, to well over three thousand likeminded people. (Marrs 20). In April of 1920, Hitler renamed the political group to the Nationalsozialistiche Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, or the National Socialist German Worker s Party, which was shortened to Nazi. Now seen as little more than one of the many modern white supremacist movements, the Neo Nazis, one might find it little more than conspiracy theory to claim that the United States of America is a repackaged National Socialist Government, or a fourth Reich. Enjambed means to carry over; this term describes how one line flows into the next without hesitation. When I came to Bucknell University, I was immediately intrigued with the multitude of foreign languages taught. Coming from a blue collar family and being a first generation college student I felt an obligation to my parents, though, to choose a major that would offer financial ease and stability. However, during my second semester I took classes in translation and linguistics, and I realized I wanted to create my own academic path. I began college level Spanish in my first semester, and French in my fourth. I have taken classes on translation, linguistics, and literature as well. With ... I plan to take a personal language pledge to avoid speaking English, unless it is unavoidable. I will stay with a host family, which will add to my language and cultural immersion. Because the program asked, I indicated a preference for a host family with a sibling my age who attends the Université François Rabelais, where I will be studying along with the Institute de Touraine. The sibling might introduce me to other students there. I will eat morning and evening meals daily with my host family. My goal is to integrate myself thoughtfully with my host family to learn about family life and different social patterns. I also chose France for its astonishingly deep and rich culture throughout the country. The Bucknell en France program explores a variety of regions through regular excursions on alternating weekends with the in residence faculty to local sites of interest, including cathedrals, abbeys and the famous Loire châteaux. The excursions also include visits to different ateliers, or workshops, such as an oil mill, a chocolaterie, or a vannerie. Longer excursions to national sites are also organized, including Paris, the Normandy Beaches, and the Perigord region. A program that has been established for fourteen years, the annual Trolley Dances traveled from downtown San Diego to Balboa Park. However modern or classical the pieces may in Trolley Dances appear to be, the combination of observation and research can provide a different perspective. Africanist Aesthetics are principles in the qualities of African dance, as well as other African art forms. The aesthetic of the cool is one of five Africanist Aesthetics. It embraces the principle of a contrast between bodily movements and facial presentation and expression. This aesthetic also has a large component of visual values; dancers are confident of their performance and offer themselves as such. Three moments within the collection of pieces presented in Trolley Dances excellently embody the Africanist Aesthetic of the aesthetic of the cool, in the penumbras of potential danger, physical strain, and unexpected collisions. • 38. Lord Of The Flies Jack Is A Leader Analysis A powerful leader is one who knows how to lead with control and has strong leader characteristics. In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, some readers support the fact that Jack was a better leader than Ralph, but others feel that Ralph was the better leader. Although several supporters feel that Ralph is the best leader, it is evident that Jack is the better leader since he can effortlessly control the group on the island. It is clear that Jack is a better leader than Ralph because he is more of a demanding, manipulative person. From the time the boys landed on the island, Jack was in control of the choir. The other boys, led by Jack, run off in disorganized excitement to light the signal fire (Reilly, 3). This quote shows that the boys followed in Jack s footsteps since they set foot on the island. Along with controlling the choir, Jack challenged Ralph s opinions. We do not need the conch anymore. We know who ought to say things (Reilly, 4). This quote demonstrates that Jack is making an attempt to control the group by doing what is best for him, and he demands that the boys support his decisions. In addition, Jack s main priority was to hunt and give them what they want. The point is that Jack is doing what he wants, not what he ought (Reilly, 5). This quote illustrates that Jack is aware that he is the leader of the group, for he is doing what he wants and not what he has to.
