Essay On Muscle Injury
You often hear about athletes who are unable to play their sport due to a pulled hamstring. In fact,
a pulled hamstring is one of the most common muscle pulls or muscle injury. Your hamstrings are a
group of three muscles that help extend your legs at the hip and flex them at the knee. A pulled
hamstring is a strain or tear in the muscles or tendons.
To understand what causes a hamstring injury you have to know how muscles work. All muscles
work in pairs to perform a task. One set of muscles contracts to exert force while the other set of
muscles relaxes. The hamstring muscles located at the back of the thigh, work with the quadriceps
muscle group in the front of the thigh. When you want to bend your leg, the hamstring muscles
contract and the quadriceps muscles relax. Conversely, when you want to straighten your leg, the
quadriceps muscles contract and the hamstring muscles relax. ... Show more content on

This frequently happens with the hamstring muscles. The quadriceps muscles are usually much
more powerful, so the hamstring can become fatigued faster. A fatigued muscle cannot relax as
easily when its opposing muscle contracts, leading to strains.
Muscle strains are overuse injuries that result when the muscle is stretched without being properly
warmed up. An injury to the hamstring is usually readily apparent. Mild strains may involve
simple, uncomfortable tightening of the muscle. More severe injuries may result in a sharp pain
in the back of the thigh, usually in full stride. A rupture or tear may leave you unable to stand or
walk, muscles may be tender to the touch and painful to stretch your leg. Within a few days after a
tear the area may appear very bruised.
Remember RICE and you will know the immediate treatment protocol for many sports related
injuries, including hamstring pulls or

The Concept of Family Health in Nursing Practice
Family Health
How does a family work as a system in promoting the health of its members? Family is playing an
important part in helping to ensure that patients are fit and following the advice of health care
professionals. This is because the family is a foundation of support for everyone. At the same time,
members can learn about what is impacting their loved one and what kind of procedures need to be
followed. When this happens, there will be higher amounts of compliance as they will ensure that
the patient continues to stick with their treatment protocol. (Saleeba, 2009) Moreover, the family
understands the specifics about the individual s condition and their daily routines. This can help
health care professionals to decide if the person is following the proper steps in their therapy.
Once this takes place, is the point that health care professionals can make adjustments to reflect
changing realities. Those patients, who have their families involved, will be able to receive better
care by ensuring that nothing is overlooked. This is the point that physicians will have a more
complete picture surrounding their underlying levels of health. (Saleeba, 2009) Evidence of this
can be seen with observations from Saleeba (2008) who said, The family should be updated
continuously about the patient s condition and procedures. Keeping the family members well
informed an including them in procedures can have a dramatic effect on decreasing stress. Studies

Henry The Alligator Snapping Turtle Short Story
Twisted Reality
Henry the Alligator Snapping Turtle was not fast, but he was really stubborn. So when the cocky
hare, Celer, had dared him to try to race him, after hurting a friend no less, Henry knew he had to
end this Celer s rule, in any way necessary. Henry accepted the challenge much Celer s amusement.
The race was set to be exactly one week from that moment. When Henry left the courtyard he had
been in, his friends quickly (for turtles anyway) ran toward him. Joey, a large, African Spurred
Tortoise, was the first to catch up.
You re crazy, you ll never win Joey said
I have to try Henry said, clearly regretting having accepted Celer s challenge

Henry heard other things, terrible things, some laughing, laughing at Celer s pain, others
whispering of Henry in horror. At least I will never have to deal with Celer. No I don t think
anyone will hurt me or my friends again. Henry won the race.
Henry did what he felt like was a run over to his friends, but they ran. He shouted,
Wait up guys, come on.... Please his voice slowly drifted off as he realized they knew they had
left him behind. They were afraid of Henry. They ll be back, they won t stay scared.... Will they?
On his way home Henry managed to say something to Shelly.
Hey, Shelly what s up Henry asked, hopeful
Nothing Shelly said decisively, and she increased her pace. Henry had to run to keep up with Shelly.
Please, Shelly, why do you resent me all the sudden? Henry said, though he suspected the answer.
Because you bit someone s leg in 2! That s not okay! Shelly was practically shouting by the end of
this statement. Henry wasn t sure how to respond to that, it was true. His plan had gone so well
that it had come back and bit him in the

Positive Role Models Are Those Who Possess The Qualities...
Positive role models are those who possess the qualities that I would love to have and even
improve on. They are those who have affected me in ways that make me want to be a better
person in ways such as volunteering in the community. They help me to advocate for myself when
I am falling short, help me on my steps to taking a leadership position, and even speak out on the
issues that I feel strongly about. I often don t tend to recognize positive role models until I have
noticed my own personal growth. Knowing that it really implies that it takes a positive role modelto
know one. Some positive role models are teachers, clergy members, counselors and even friends.
Throughout my life, I have had many teachers as positive role models. Some teachers teach right
to the tests while others show real world examples and even visit the places that we are learning
about and that is what stands out to me. Aubrey, my core teacher in Israel, really exemplifies this
and is very committed and an amazing role model that really stands out. Aubrey taught the core
curriculum I was a part of while studying in Israel. It is an intense study of Israel and 4,000 years
of Jewish history. It comprises of many things such as engaging classroom study and even life
changing trips to the sites where history took place. My classmates and I used Israel as a living
classroom to explore my heritage and would go back in a heartbeat. What really stood out was that
my teacher would sing, dance, skip, cheer

Bigfoot Dna Primers
In order to stack the DNA together, scientists use what is known as a primer. The primer s basic
function is to gather like strands of DNA together and stack them so it is easier to see the DNA
sequence or amplify the sequence. In the early days of DNA testing, primers were designed for
individual species and even subspecies within a family of organisms. For example, primers were
developed for humans, bears, dogs, cats, pigs, cattle, etc. If you were trying to identify unknown
DNAyou would use the primer for the individual species on the sample. If the primer found and
stacked the DNA together or amplified the DNA, then you knew you had this species. If nothing
was amplified, then you knew you did not have this particular species. These... Show more content

There was not an index for the track record at the time, we reviewed all 174 documents and
gleaned the DNA articles and submissions. After reviewing the Track Record documents we turned
to the web to see what it had to offer, not much. The year we undertook this review was 2005 and
many of the television shows about Bigfoot did not exist.
Results:
The results of our research found that over 95% of the DNA on purported bigfoot specimens
returned as Human. NABS found this as an extremely puzzling result considering the BIG names in
the Bigfoot world that consider themselves, researchers proclaimed that Bigfoot was a type of ape.
Many of these researchers claimed that the DNA showing human was compromised or
contaminated and the results should be disregarded. We saw this same discussion time after time,
discount the results, they are wrong. Again, almost every moderately famous researcher known for
investigating Bigfoot issues proclaimed the studies and results were flawed,

Impact Of Globalization Of Walmart
1.Introduction to Wal Mart: Wal Mart is a multinational retail company founded by Sam Walton
and now managed by his eldest son, S. Robson Walton. Founded in 1962, it grew rapidly in
Arkansas, then dominated all the United States and began to internationalize in 1991. Wal Mart
is now targeting the Asian market. Established in China since 1996, the group employed some
more than 100,000 workers in 419 stores and 20 distribution centers. It also operates in Japan. In
2013, 20 million customers visited Wal Mart stores on average each day in all over the world. In

made in a bordering country which is Mexico. For this Wal Mart has established a joint venture.
Subsequently, the group has established in Puerto Rico, Brazil and Argentina, in parallel with the
Latino America market. The company has also invested in Canada since it is a close market in
terms of commercial policy. The Asian continent: Wal Mart s strategy on this continent concerns
major markets such as Japan and China. The penetration was done due to the joining system.
Indeed, the culture and the Chinese legislation was being so significantly different, the implantation
without changing the American business concepts would have been too risky. The European
continent: The organization has established in Europe in two countries, England and Germany. A
same strategy of penetration was settled for both countries but two contrary results. A huge success
for the first, thanks to a very close culture between the two countries, the political American
commercial was enough to conquer this British market. For the second country, Germany, the
failure was flagrant. Hard discount being already very developed, it was so difficult for Wal Mart

Moreover, analysis using Day Wensley s model identified that Samsung could achieve competitive
advantages within the tablet sector through their superior skill in innovation and information
technology. In addition, their superior resource in global strategy and strategic alliances also
contribute to gain the advantages. These allow Samsung to provide the differentiated product,

GVAHEC Staff Meeting
For this week internship, I have attended GVAHEC staff meeting on Monday September 11 at
apache Junction location. They usually do staff meeting every first Monday of the month to discuss
about their organization, but for this month, they had to postponed the meeting to the second
Monday of the month due to unavailability of some staff members. The purpose of the meeting was
to discuss how to make the organization function better. One thing that they focused on during the
meeting was the sponsorship opportunity. They want to look for more agencies that can fund their
organization. So, some people came up with new idea, which has been taken into consideration. I

GVAHEC provides support to healthcare students who have financial problem, so, some of their
students have graduated. I think this meeting was very useful to me because I have learned
some new things. For example, I have learned how to look for fund raising opportunity, so, in
the future, if I work with an organization that needs sponsor, I think I can help. I have also
learned through this meeting that when I will be working with this type organization, it is very
important to learn new things from other organizations that will help my organization to prosper.
On Wednesday September 13, I went to the Phoenix location. We have finished our project
regarding St Mary s food bank presentation. So, two weeks from now, we will be presenting. I
have learned many things through this project. For example, in my future career, if I am asked to

The universe contains many galaxies and the galaxies have millions and billions of stars, here
are 10 well known stars from the universe. First one is a stellar nebula , a stellar nebula is is a
cloud of superheated gases and other elements formed by the explosive death of a massive star.
A stellar nebula is not only massive clouds of dust , it s also the place where stars are born. A
nebula is latin for fog . A stellar nebula is also really big,it s a huge interstellar cloud of dust and
hydrogen and helium that range in size from 1 AU to 10 AU. It also appears in many different

temperature inside a newly formed neutron star is from around 1011 to 1012 kelvin. However,
the huge number of neutrinos it emits carry away so much energy that the temperature of an
isolated neutron star falls within a few years to around 106 kelvin. Then we have the average star

Analysis Of Great Expectations
Early Life Influences In novels, character development, If not always, relies upon the doings and
variations of other characters they interact with. In the infamous novel, Great Expectations , Pip
s brother in law, Joe, is considered to be one of the most dependable and loyal characters to Pip,
despite having adverse personalities. For example, where Pip is known to be zealous and eager
to move forward with things at almost any cost, Joe is more of a steady, content man who would
much rather stay in the comfortable quarters living of his own home. As a result, Joe is one of the
most bona fide and pleasant characters to the reader in Great Expectations. As Pip grows all through
the novel, he develops and matures from an ingenuous, young boy to a man of high morality
throughout his life. The role of Pip is developed through the positive and negative influences of Joe,
because the genuine circumstances and attempts at friendship.
The influence of Joe to Pip can be perceived by the reader as a positive outlook as he learns how
and why he should respect others. Pip also is taught not to shape opinions off someone based
upon the wishes or dreams they may have, and also not to reciprocate and lower himself to
someone else s level if he or she induce him. She says many hard things of you, yet you say
nothing of her. What do you think of her? I don t like to say, stammered (Dickens 63). Within this

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Essay
The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy As the human race makes life changing discoveries, it is
made apparent that there is always more to learn as the universe, instead of becoming familiar, is
becoming absurd. The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy, written by Douglas Adams, as well as the
2005 film adaption, portrays absurdity to be an all encompassing system in the universe. Through
the introduction and attempt to understand lack of reason, the narration of important elements and
the human perception of the universe, the novel is as a whole, more complete than the film. With
these points it is irrefutable that The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy develops the theme of
absurdity with greater prowess than the film, resulting in a deeper... Show more content on

The novel, rather than describing a complete lack of order, has characters trying to give meaning to
events around them. This reinforces the theme of absurdity by strengthening the impact each
instance of absurdity has on the novel. The film overlooks this through an overall lack of
explanation, resulting in the overall theme of absurdity being collectively, less meaningful. By
blatantly introducing absurdity, and attempting to understand the lack of reason, the novel provides
a deeper understanding of the theme of absurdity than the film. Furthermore, the novel s narration
of events allows greater flow of information, with the film s restrictive media preventing specifics
that further the theme of absurdity from being disclosed. The towel is a symbolic item in The
Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy, with the Guide, an intergalactic encyclopaedia, that is also the
narrator, reads: A towel... is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can
have, (Adams 22). The novel highlights the theme of absurdity more copiously than the film, with
the Guide, a universally esteemed source of information, presenting such a trivial object with
arbitrary significance. The film includes the towel, but without a narrator, the towel s significance
is never stated, and this key instance of absurdity is not developed. Similarly, the lack of narration
and explanation of scenes in The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy leaves the audience

Non Traditional Tribe Essay
Tribe is a word used to describe a form of human social organization based on a set of bands,
political integration, and are defined by their traditions. These common descent, language, and
culture. It is usually used to describe traditional tribes like the Eno or the San, but it can be used to
describe non traditional tribes like a neighborhood or a soccer team. These can be called tribe
because ,like the traditional tribes, they too have the same language and they too have a political
party. For example, a soccer team would be considered a non traditional tribe because it follows
the definitions of a tribe. A soccer team includes the same language and had a political party which

These tribes work to become the best to differentiate themselves as a tribe , but they are
overlooked because it is not how they become the best it is how they become their best selves.
The way soccer teams do this is by using their skills. Maybe they are faster so they will show it
through that or maybe they are stronger and taller so they will use that to become the best. This
is how they see the world becoming the best selves so they can succeed in life. These people
treat each other with kindness. The older you are on the soccer team the more respect you get.
This is how they significant dominance. This gives you the power to recognize each other on

act out of line. Like if a younger member of a soccer team messes with an older player he would
get in more trouble so they usually don t. This gives them their place so they can be kind to one

and give the intimidation to keep people in their place. Without this in a traditional tribe crime and
murders can be much more complicated, which

Nitrate-Nitrite
The nitrate nitrite NO pathway can have beneficial health effects. Dietary nitrate has been shown to
improve the mitochondrial functioning as it affects proteins involved in uncoupling contributing to
an increase performance in exercise. The pathway begins through consumption of dietary nitrates
that are converted to nitrites by bacteria in the oral cavity. The reduction of nitrates to nitrites may
affect hemoglobin. Excess nitrites added to deoxygenated hemoglobin will oxidize to form
methemoglobin and nitric oxide(Gladwin Kim Shapiro,
2008). This formation can hinder oxygen transport and is the common cause for concern in nitrite
toxicity. Formation of nitric oxide allows for its use and reuse in cellular activities and may carry out

The body must go through chemical processes for healthy cellular function and homeostasis.
Human beings not only consume dietary nitrates but, the body also synthesizes nitrates
endogenously. This arises from the oxidation of nitrogenoxide and its end products. The synthesis
of nitrates to nitrites occurs endogenously and exogenously in the body. Consumption of inorganic
nitrates and nitrites will undergo reductive processes for the body s use and elimination. Nitrates
and Nitrites both contain nitrogen in its chemical structure. Nitrogen, in of itself, is often conserved
to be reused by the body s cells. Inorganic nitrates and nitrates that are consumed must be equally
eliminated. The metabolism of nitrates and nitrites ultimately result in its elimination through
salivary excretion or urination. Ingestion of inorganic nitrates will first undergo reductive activity
in the oral cavity through the bacteria present on the tongue. The metabolism continues until nitrites
are converted to nitric oxide where it enters the circulatory system and distributed to different target
tissues. The concentration of nitrites in the salivary glands account for 25% of total dietary intake
of nitrates (Gehle, 2007). The remaining concentration of nitrites are distributed in circulation and
eventually eliminated through the urine. Each route of elimination helps to rid the body of
potentially toxic

Greek Creature In Dante s Inferno
In Dante s epic poem Inferno, he uses many interesting character and creatures from many iconic
stories we have read or heard about. He repeats and takes a lot of ideas from Greek culture,
which very clever because as reader we are familiarized with Greek Mythologies. Greek
mythologies are based on very unusual and unique creatures, which are very interesting, and he
uses these creatures in his journey and showcases their importance in each situation. The creature
I found interesting and attractive is Cerberus, not because the way Dante describes the creature. I
saw this creature in a movie called Percy Jackson: The Light Thief, Percy goes to the underworld
to save his mother from Hades. When Percy reaches to Hades home, his home is guarded with
Cerberus, which was a three headed creature, looked very vicious, and violent. When I read about
this creature in Dante s Infernoit brought back that image I saw in the movie, very scary looking
beast that is about to kill. Although it looked scary, I found it fascinating because there were three

Creating Resistance To Change
Resistance to Change
Change is difficult to implement in most professional settings. Employees and managers alike are
often set in their ways, and usually resist change via a response based on self interest. Many feel
that change threatens their personal freedom; that change limits them in how they can accomplish
their work goals. This negative reaction is centered around the idea of reactance. Fear is a common
cause of reactance that often leads employees and managers to resist change. People are often afraid
of the unknown. Change can lead to a feeling of uneasiness, or distrust due to a lack of experience
with the change. What an employee was once comfortable with doing is now an unknown to them.
They may not be sure if this new implementation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Employees should be made aware of impending transitions before they are implemented. When
communicating these transitions, the business should never withhold any details about the change,
and their reasoning for making the change should be clearly stated. This prevents harmful rumors
that propagate employee fear from spreading. Being honest with employees can greatly improve the
degree of trust between them and their managers. Trust can help alleviate fears of change because
employees will feel that their managers would not implement something that was not important or
that would greatly decrease their job satisfaction. Allowing employees to participate in ongoing
changes, grants them a feeling of ownership in the change. They will feel more committed to the
transitions because they helped create them. Simply listening to concerns can also do wonders for
change resistance. Like stated before, employees who feel that they are being listened to will not
meet change with as much resistance. Allowing them to discuss their problems can uncover their
fears, allowing management to possibly alleviate these problems. These concerns may have not
even been considered by upper management, allowing the process to possibly be improved upon.
Regardless of the specifics of the concerns, emotional support should be provided to those dealing
with anxiety from the new

Reliance Industries Failure Essay
Reasons for its failure
Reliance Industries shut all of its 1,432 petrol pumps in the country after sales dropped to almost
nil as it could not match the subsidized price offered by public sector competition. The company
owned less than three per cent of the 36,936 petrol pumps in the country. Of the total retail outlets,
state run Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum own 34,304 pumps, while the
remaining belong to private sector Essar Oil and Shell India.

involvement, and effevtive programs for offenders.
Police officers who walk a regular route have agreater opportunity to build rapport and establish
a trusting relationship within communities. The more a community is familiar with an officer
due to patrolling daily, the more likely if a crime was to take place they would feel more
comfortable passing along information. Law enforcement agencies around the late 2000 s. A

The Pros And Cons Of Slavery
Lincoln believed that slavery was ethically wrong, however there was one major issue: It was
endorsed by the most noteworthy law in the land, the Constitution. The country s establishing
fathers, who likewise battled with how to address subjugation, did not expressly compose servitude
in the Constitution, yet they included key conditions ensuring the organization, including a
criminal slave proviso and the three fifths proviso, which enabled Southern states to tally slaves for
the reasons for portrayal in the government. In a three hour discourse in Peoria, Illinois, in the fall
of 1854, Lincoln introduced more obviously than any time in recent memory his good, lawful and
monetary restriction to subjugation and after that conceded he didn t know precisely what ought to
be done about it inside the current political framework. Abolitionists, by differentiate, knew
precisely what ought to be done about it: Slavery ought to be quickly annulled, and liberated slaves
ought to be fused as equivalent individuals from society. They couldn t have cared less about
working inside the current political framework, or under the Constitution, which they saw as
treacherously ensuring bondage and slave proprietors. Driving abolitionist William Lloyd Garrison
called the Constitution a pledge with death and a concurrence with Hell, and went so far as to
consume a duplicate at a Massachusetts rally in 1854. In spite of the fact that Lincoln considered
himself to be working nearby the abolitionists in the interest of a typical abolitionist subjugation
cause, he didn t consider himself as a part of them. Just with liberation, and with his help of the
inevitable thirteenth Amendment, would Lincoln at last prevail upon the most dedicated
abolitionists. Despite the fact that Lincoln contended that the establishing fathers expression All
men are made equivalent connected to blacks and whites alike, this did not mean he figured they
ought to have a similar social and political rights. His perspectives turned out to be clear amid a
1858 arrangement of verbal confrontations with his rival in the Illinois race for U.S. Senate,
Stephen Douglas, who had blamed him for supporting negro equity. In their fourth verbal

City Furniture And Mattresses
Executive summary
City furniture and mattresses (CFM), is a company located at Toronto in Ontario, Canada. It
serves as a home furnishing retail market CFM was launched in 2003 as a retail market.
Different strategies have been used by Raajev to ensure that the furniture retail market is
sustained. Internal factors are factors that involve the planning process of the management;
these factors determine how a business will operate and can be controlled by the management.
After identification of available opportunities of a business, objectives should be laid down;
since each step in the process determines the achievement of these objectives. Factors which will
affect achievement of these objectives should then be determined for appropriate planning. In
2005 the singhs lacked a business strategy or planning. Hence lack of a plan for the operation of
their business, which led to lack of profitability. Their strategies were short term that is to clear
inventory, and when there was a shift of focus to being a fully fledged retail operation it was
difficult because the facility could not generate profits in the long term, consequently led to the
closure of the stores. In Whitbuy the signhs were unable to make top line sales due to lack of
planning of internal factors including the premises. This led to significant losses due to low sales.

Delta and The Future of The Airline Industry Essay
IV.The Future of the Airline Industry
The Airline Industry is in an interesting situation. Simply adding a low cost alternative is not
enough in the industry. The Internet has made the power of buyers grow with the transparency of
ticket prices. This is not something that will change any time soon. Because of this profitability is
predominately reserved for low cost yet distinctive carriers. No consumer wants to ride what they

acknowledging the increased power of buyers. The future of the industry is in JetBlue s cheap chic

Through similar mergers in the 1980s and 1990s, Delta extended its reach into trans continental and

Delta Air Lines serves more than 160 million customers each year. With an industry leading global
network, Delta and the Delta Connection carriers offer service to 356 destinations in 65 countries
on six continents. (Delta.com).
The result of this objective is the third largest commercial carrier in the world, having a strong
presence in major hubs such as Atlanta, Dallas, Cincinnati, and Salt Lake City (Rivkin 8).
As with all airlines, Delta s recent performance has been significantly impacted by industry shifts
and external events. Terrorist attacks and escalating costs have significantly impacted Delta s
profitability in recent history (Rivkin 4). The company has also been losing valuable market share
to the low cost carrier Southwest Airlines throughout the southeast and specifically in the lucrative
Florida market (Rivkin 8). JetBlue also began encroaching on key Delta routes, and this seems only
likely to increase (Rivkin 9). Despite this, Delta has still performed better than any other legacy
carrier (Rivkin 8). Still, recent history has brought several changes to this legacy carrier, and the
company has turned its attention towards new competitive strategies.

Completing An EPQ On Colour Qualia
Completing an EPQ on colour qualia, which had me delve into a mixture of Psychology and
Philosophy, was one of the most enjoyable highlights of my entire school experience. This was but
an echo of my infatuation for these subjects. My attention has been captured by the eccentricities
of many different fields of study over the years of my life. I cannot, however, realistically say that
any area can maintain a strong enough grip upon me to keep me passionately motivated to pursue
them as a life path. This is with the exception of Psychology(and related areas of Philosophy).
I ve had an intrinsic obsession with Psychology long before knowing of the academic discipline,
and always wondered what made people act so differently from one another, yet so similar in
differing mannerisms. At age 6, this developed further when I tried resolving the issues causing my
parents constant arguing. I got them both to sit down, giving each a piece of paper, made them take

I Love My Pet Animals
Sharing our lives, opening our hearts to pure unconditional love. They are the best friends that
we can ever have. They won rsquo;t let us down, they are always happy to see us, they don

They trust us implicitly, with a wag of a tail or the twitch of a whisker telling us that they
intuitively know how we feel. The look in their eyes says it all ndash; I love you.
Our companion animals, our pets. We, as humans think that we have chosen our pets, in many
situations it seems as if we have. However, many times on a higher level of awareness, they have
chosen us. How many times do you see people that look like their dogs or is it that their dogs look

The manifestation of the grief process is different for everyone, but the root cause is the same. It

The Relationship Between Meditation and Mental and...
Rooting back to its ancient times, meditation has been around for thousands of years, especially in
the Eastern part of the world and has spread to the Western countries in early 1970s.
Contrary to what I initially believe meditation is, prior to taking this course, which is the mental
concentration on something, meditation is actually a thoughtless awareness of an individual s
surroundings. Dhyana, the generic Sanskrit term for meditation is so much more than being alone
with one s thoughts, it is about the state of mind being calm but alert.
Sogyal Rinpoche in The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying said that it is through meditation that
you are able to go on a journey to discover yourself, paving the way to enlightenment.1 ... Show

According to studies by Chiesa and Seretti, 2009 and Hassed, 1996, meditation also relieves
stress and seems to be an effective way to increase overall general well being as it reduces the
production of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline.5,6
Bloomberg also reported a study by John Denninger, a psychiatrist at Harvard Medical School
showing that meditation also wards of diseases.7
Meditation boosts the immune system, making people who practice it less susceptible to falling sick.
Where when will I meditate?
Ideally, the rooftop, by the private pool or the balcony would also be good locations to carry out
the meditation, as it is secluded, quiet and tranquil so that I can truly be with myself. I should
also draw up a schedule to allocate time to meditate in a comfortable, quiet and safe environment
such as my apartment to truly enjoy the meditation. I should also always make it a point to not
rush through my meditation as it lowers the effectiveness of it. If I were to be busy, I would not
force myself to meditate because it would not be sincere.
I will meditate early in the morning, as it is the quietest time of

while doing this. With imagery, they both show me with humans being alive we forget to easily
but when we are dead we cannot forget, we see it all. In Billy Collins s poems The Dead and

MC = Change in TC / Change in Q
Where, MC is marginal cost, TC is total cost and Q is quantity
Cost function
Cost function refers to the mathematical relationship between cost of production and the various
determinants of costs.
C=f (O, S, T, P)
Where, C is cost of output,
O is size of output,
S is size of plant,
T is Time under consideration,
P is prices of factors of production
F is function
Determinants of costs
The various factors that influence the cost are as follows:
1. Size of output:
Cost is affected by the size of output. Whenever the level of output changes the total cost also
changes. Average and marginal costs usually falls initially but rises afterwards.
2. Size of plant:
Cost is inversely related with the size of the plant. As the size of the plant increases, costs decline
and as the size of the plant decreases, cost rise. Fixed costs of bigger plant are higher than that of
the smaller plant.
3. Prices of input:
Higher the prices of inputs, higher will be the costs of production. Even for the manufacturer
getting the raw materials at low cost will help the firm to decide the product price.
4. Period under consideration:
During short period, costs tend to rise sharply as compared

The Edict Of Milan. Kincade Hughes
The Edict of Milan
Kincade Hughes
History Section 6
Mr. Allen
April 2, 2015 In 313 AD the two Emperors of the Western and Eastern part of the Roman Empire
met and made a decision that would change the faith of western Religion. In Milan, a city in
northern Italy, they agreed on a statement that was later published as a letter and became known as
the Edict of Milan. This letter was the turning point for Christianity and a key event for its rise to
becoming the leading western Religion. This essay analyzes the events that led to the Edict of
Milan and the impact it had on Christians in the Roman Empire, namely the legal, cultural, and
economical effects, and the long term consequences. The Edict of Milan was a letter sent by
Licinius as a consequence of meeting Constantine in Milan.1 The letter was written by Licinius but
in Constantine s name as well.2 It was sent to Governors in the Eastern Empire to inform them that
Christians in the East now were allowed to have the same rights as Christians in the West already
had. The letter became known as the Edict of Milan and was a proclamation that made Christianity
legal.3 Throughout the early times of the Roman Empire Christians were prosecuted and not treated
well. They were used as scapegoats when things did not go well. People accused them of
cannibalism and immoral behavior to justify treating them poorly. However, over time Christianity
started growing, and as the communities grew stronger Christians became

It has its foundation in the theory of variation (understanding common and special causes) and was
one of the key tools developed by Walter Shewhart in the 1920s. The primary tools used in SPC are
graphical, including Pareto analysis, control charts and run charts. It is crucial for QI teams and
researchers to understand variation in data to avoid making errors in interpretation, though in
practice, many QI teams do not have sufficient biostatistical training to be able to interpret their
data with confidence. The practical power of SPC is that people who are not statisticians can bring
significant statistical rigor to their quantitative data in an intuitive format by understanding just a
few simple, pattern based rules to distinguish special cause variation (i.e., signals) from common
cause variation (i.e., noise). Distinguishing special and common cause variation is critical to
understanding whether changes you are making result in improvement (i.e., is there a signal of
change present?). Among all of the SPC tools, control charts have the most power to distinguish
common from special cause variation. Control charts plot data over time (time on the x axis) and
include a measure of central tendency (centerline, mean) and upper and lower control limits (plus
/minus 3 sigma of the mean). The control limits reflect the natural variation in the data or the extent

Discuss the idea that how imagination affects an individual s willingness to embrace or reject
an uncertain future In On the Rainy River by Tim O Brien, the author suggests the narrator s
imaginations change his perception of the war from different perspectives. The newly graduated

Importance Of The American Education System
Part Four: Importance to the American Education System Students from Arab and Muslim culture
will bring unique and positive qualities to our classrooms that need to be recognized and valued.
Teachers have a strong influence on how comfortable a student will feel in the classroom
community. I believe it is important to create an environment where students feel safe to ask
questions, share their culture, be themselves, believe in what they want to believe, and be
celebrated for their differences as well as similarities. I believe each culture brings forth students
that have a vast array of talents and it is important to know them so that you can teach to those
students accordingly.
An Arab American student might be an amazing storyteller due to Arabic language and
communication styles. They may also be repetitive in their speaking. This is not to be dismissed as
unnecessary, but merely how they learned to communicate. Arab American students can also bring
high levels of respect to the classroom. They will know the customs of standing as someone enters
a room and to not sit with your back facing away from another person. Additionally to their high
level of respect, an Arab American student may hold honor and honesty to a high standard. Another
talent an Arab American student might bring is the knowledge and wisdom that comes from living
with extended family. The student may have several stories of his or her family s history or
wisdom of his or her elders.

The sixth sense directed by M. Night Shymalan tells a story of a boy who is able to see dead
people seeks help from a child psychologist. The film explores the supernatural from a humanized
perspective. The film portrays a story with dynamic elements which not only consists of horror, but
also love and humanity.1). The theme of this filmis to have courage to face your fears. The scene
that contributes most to address the theme is where Cole stops running away from the ghost and
finds what they want and helps them.
2a.The manner of which the story is told is chronological. There is no flash backs presented in this
film, but some other narrative devices such as foreshadowing and symbolism. At the beginning of

Stereotypes In A Rose For Emily
The background of my verbal visual is an open window, representing the room that Emily s
sweetheart, Homer Barron, was found in. This represents the switch in gender roles and the
breaking of stereotypes in the story, thus I believed it was a great way to tie in A Rose For
Emily with the feminist lens. Due to the stereotype that men are supposed to be dominant and
aggressive, to see Emily turn her back and murder Homer was quite the reversal of these
stereotypes. Also, I included a photo of a human hand and skeleton hand as well as a skull head to
embody the immortal relationship Emily strove for with Homer, which is definitely not a very lady
like action. Additionally, I included black lace to represent the oppression of women and the

Analysis Of Eurydice By Sarah Ruhl
Sarah Ruhl s play, Eurydice, is a devastating story battling love, grief, life, and death. Although it
is set during the 1950 s, the play manages to encompass the ancient Greek myth of Eurydice and
Orpheus. The three most evident themes of this play are recurring death, fleeting happiness, and
the power of love. The main conflict in this play is ultimately about the painful choice that comes
with death; this is often caused by the King of the Underworld. One of the most impressive parts
of this play is the ability to change the way the play is perceived through design.
When I envision this play in my head and through my concept, I view the characters in the living
world to have bright normal costumes. For Example, I can see Eurydice in sundresses and Orpheus
in spring colored button up shirts and pants. This would represent the love and happiness they
have for each other. On the other hand, when I think about costumes in the underworld, I believe
they would need to be a little bit darker and quirky to represent the hard choices and confusion
that death has pushed upon them. I think Eurydice s father should be wearing a dark suit with a
crazy tie and no shoes. When both Eurydice and Orpheus arrive in the underworld their clothes
should become darker and more sullen. I perceive the Stones as being deceased people from
different eras that have completely forgotten who they were, and have been brainwashed by
being dipped in the river and by the King of the Underworld. To represent this, their outfits need
to look extremely dull and dirty; they should be everyday clothes from their different time
periods. All three of their costumes should be torn and drained of all color. The Lord of the
Underworld needs to have multiple different costumes. In the world of the living, he needs to be
the darkest dressed; he should wear a black suit and tie. In the underworld, I envision him wearing
more of a boyish outfit, such as shorts, suspenders, and crazy socks. When he becomes a man and
grows to a superhuman high in the end, I would have him wear tall stilts under long dress pants
and wear a suit top.
The most creative part of this play is the set for both the living world and the underworld. As a

The Collapse of Hih В– Solvency and Audit Risk
The Collapse of HIH В– Solvency and Audit Risk
Following the collapse of HIH, considerable debate, comment and speculation have arisen regarding
whether and at what point HIH became insolvent. When a company is close to insolvency, the risk
associated with auditing that company is considerably higher than for one that is solvent. This
report investigates methods of determining insolvency, the roles of directors and auditors, and the
level of audit risk associated with HIH prior to its collapse.
There is general agreement that the concept of solvency relates to having the capacity to meet debts
as they fall due. An insurance company is solvent if it is able to fulfil its obligations under all
contracts at any time (or at least under most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cross guarantees exist where a subset of companies in the corporate group (the closed group )
guarantee the debts of each other. A regulatory approved Deed of Cross Guarantee has existed in
Australia since 1991. All subsidiaries party to a Deed of Cross Guarantee must make a solvency
statement.
HIH and its subsidiary, FAI insurance had cross guarantees in place. As a result of the cross
guarantee, HIH adopted a group enterprise perspective when attesting to its regulatory solvency
position. The company treated insurance subsidiaries as if they were part of a singular corporate
group and netted off related company assets and liabilities in several APRA annual returns . This
contributed to the fact that the auditors did not identify that some subsidiaries were potentially
insolvent.
The risk that a company is insolvent is a component of audit risk, which should be taken into
account by auditors. Audit risk is defined as the risk that that the auditor will give an inappropriate
audit opinion when the financial report is materially misstated . Auditors risk issuing an unqualified
audit opinion on financial statements that are materially misstated or omit material transactions;
therefore the procedures used in the audit must be planned according to the identified audit risk.
The components of audit risk are inherent risk, control risk and detection risk.
Inherent risk is the risk that the financial statements contain a material

The Emotional Abuse Woman Summary
The Emotionally Abuse Woman by Beverly Engel, a therapist with sixteen years of experience
and a victim of emotional abuse herself, is a book geared towards women who are involved with
friends, family members, bosses or any one significant in their life who is emotionally abuse
towards them. Her goal of those reading who are also in emotional abusive relationships is to
share her knowledge and experience of others to educate the abused woman, leaving her with
skills on how to cope, move on and avoid future abusive relationships. Engel starts out her book,
with a definition of abuse, defining it as verbal, physical or emotional attacks directed at an
individual in order to control him/her, humiliate him/her, or to cause fear. She explains... Show more

One aspect is the role that society plays in acclimatizing women to be a victim. Engel (1990 p.
44) explains that women have been taught by society to become martyrs. As children, boys are
encouraged to stick up for themselves and girls are urged to accept what is and to be passive,
conditioning women to have a victim mindset (Engel, 1990, p. 44). This psychological theory is
also supported by Hyde and Else Quest (2013 p. 298), identifying it the learned helplessness
theory. In this theory, when individuals are exposed to disagreeable situations with no hope of
avoidance, they learn to accept the circumstance and become helpless (Hyde Else, 2013, p. 298).
When a woman stays in an abusive relationship, she feels powerless, losing hopefulness and
accepts the despair (Engel, 1990, p. 143). This can be one of the reasons why women stay in abusive

Analysis Of Donatello s Equestrian Monument Of Erasmo Da...
It is intriguing to notice throughout art history the relationship between the artist and the patron.
Many famous and outstanding works of art only exist because of the wealthy patron behind the
work. From early renaissance sculpture to baroque style painting, patrons become increasingly
interested in commissioning art as a way of exhibiting their great power and influence whilst
maintaining an image of poise and regality. Donatello s Equestrian Monument of Erasmo da Narni,
(Gattamelata), (1443 1453) is a bronze sculpture made to commemorate the military
accomplishments during Gattamelata s lifetime. Although the sculpture was constructed after his
death, Donatello represents the general as youthful and stern. Anthony van Dyck s painting, Charles
I at the Hunt, 1635, conveys a similar interest in focusing on all the positive aspects of the patron,

The horse and Erasmo both are rendered with precision, flow, and with an accurate anatomical
representation. Detail is apparent in the muscular bodies which keeps a natural connection
between the horse and his rider. Although the subject rises above us, his disposition stays true to
life. Donatello chose to show a youthful Erasmo in his prime and hardened from battle. This
further establishes himself as a confident leader. He holds a baton diagonally in his right hand
giving the statue forward momentum. He presses onward even in death. The bronze statute sits on
a plain marble base that is arranged upon a limestone pedestal which includes the relief sculpture
of the angels and battle armour. The entire work is approximately 3.71 meters high (Stokstad, 631)
with the base and statue in a slightly deteriorated condition in present day. Donatello achieved his
intense facial features by using the lost wax method. By having individual emotions for each
figure, it builds upon the overall impressive feel to the whole

Becoming An Architect Job Analysis

Behind every creation there is a creator, or in this case a designer. The role of an Architect is the

The Mormon Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints
The Mormon religion was founded in the nineteenth century by a man named Joseph Smith. In
1890, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints banned the practice of polygamous
marriages. As with many religions, when a main practice is resolved it can cause some
parishioners to be upset. Some Mormons were not fond of the idea of dissolving the practice and
moved to separate parts of the country to continue the practice. The most well known polygamous
branch was given the name the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This
group settled near the Arizona Utah border (Andersen, 741). The group is mainly based in
Colorado City and Hildale, Colorado (Urban, 62). The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of

The Sacred Canopy is even pushed with the religion of Mormonism. The official spokeswoman for
the Mormon Church, Kim Farah, wanted to make sure society understands that the Mormon
Church does not condone polygamous marriage. Farah stated, Polygamists cannot be Mormon. The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints does not practice polygamy, and anyone found
practicing polygamy is excommunicated; therefore they are not members of our faith, (Cragun,
Clingenpeel, Nielsen, 95). The Mormon faith does not sympathize or recognize with the
Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints as part of Mormonism, however since it started as a
sect of the Mormon religion society sees them as connected.
The main way they break the Sacred Canopy, and what they are most known for, is their use of
polygamous marriages. Fundamentalists believe that the more wives you have, the more power
you have. The second leader of the Mormon faith Brigham Young had fifty five wives (utlm.org).
In our society, it is accepted and expected that if a marriage is to be formed, it will be a
monogamous marriage and if one of the two wishes to marry another, a divorce would be served
first. The concept of plural marriage can confuse people, when you apply the concept into an actual
marriage, it can create a lot of controversy and tension with that group and the rest of society.
This tension with society and the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day

Analysis Of Devin Copeland V. Justin Bieber
Somebody to Love : Devin Copeland v. Justin Bieber
As an artist, the protection of all intellectual property created for distribution should be a priority.
The type of protection this case focuses on is the protection granted by copyright. When a piece
of work is copyrighted, the copyright grants the creator the exclusive right to use and distribute
the piece for the duration of their life plus 70 years. As a creator, copyrighting completed art
before disclosing the art with any other interests is very beneficial when proving ownership in a
federal court proceeding. Devin Copeland v. Justin Bieber is a case that is based around the
copyrights to a song entitled Somebody to Love . The facts will be introduced, followed by the
issues that arose in court, then the courts analysis of those issues, closing with the lessons learned
to be applied to the future of Planet Florida Artist Managements business ventures.
Devin Copeland was an aspiring artist who had a dream of getting a record deal. In 2008,
Copeland finished work on an album, which he registered for copyright later the same year. The
next year, Copeland says he met with representatives from Sangreel Media and they were
interested in promoting some of the songs from the album which included Somebody to Love
(Mackinley, 2015). Sangreel Media then sent a promotional copy of the CD to several artists in
their network, including Usher Raymond. Usher s manager contacted Copeland about going on tour

special education on standardized testing.
Justification
Throughout history there has been an achievement gap between whites and minorities due to the
history of inadequate education standards. In present research the achievement gap have shown a
negative correlation on the future of many minority students. When this academic gap is considered
in terms of math and science achievement, the implications become even more troublesome. In

Father Son Relationship in Reunion Essay
Father Son Relationship in Reunion
As children we look up to our parents as role models, it is universal that we have the need to have
them in our lives, to feel loved by them. They are the people who should be responsible for our
upbringing and in molding the way we are to be as adults. The role of a parent is not just providing
food and shelter but also providing a good example. Unfortunately, this does not always happen.
There are parents who for one reason or another are not there for their children, parents who do not
set the right example to their kids. In the story Reunion by John Cheever we see a perfect example
of how a father does not step up to his role as a parent and the effect it has on his son. We see the

The question of why Charlie himself did not put a stop to this is definite in the reader s eyes. We
may conclude, with the information given in the exposition that Charlie knew he had the option
of never seeing his father again. The train could symbolize that this encounter with his father was
a В‘quick stop in his journey in life. By not reacting with the same negative energy and by
avoiding confrontation we see the growth in Charlie. We see that he has surpassed the necessity of
a father figure and acceptance of being without one, even though he in fact would ve rather have
one. I was terribly happy to see him again (p207) I hoped that someone would see us together. I
wished that we could be photographed. I wanted some record of our having been together. (p208)
and then he simply says, Goodbye, daddy. Cheever does not go into much detail regarding the
setting of this story. We know that this story happens in Grand Central Station and in some
restaurants but this in this case the setting is not too important. The whole setting is a microcosm in
itself for such situations could happen anywhere and at any time. The title does hold some
importance though. The word В‘reunion brings up pleasant thoughts. We link it to things such as

Our Town Analysis Essay
Our Town is a play that takes place near the turn of the century in the small rural town of Grover
amp;#8217;s Corners, New Hampshire. The playwright, Thornton Wilder is trying to convey the
importance of the little, often unnoticed things in life. Throughout the first two acts he builds a
scenario, which allows the third act to show that we as humans often run through life oblivious to
what is actually happening. Wilderattempts to show life as something that we take for granted. We
do not realize the true value of living until we are dead and gone. The through line of the action
seems to be attention to the details of life. Wilder builds up a plot that pays attention to great details
of living.

While at the funeral, the living members of the cast all have umbrellas above their heads. The
dead members sit in chairs imitating graves, and are rained upon. The symbolism represented by
the umbrellas could be that the living are sheltered from the light of reality and importance. Only
when you are dead do you notice that there was more to it, and the umbrella that you held while it
was raining is taken away, allowing you to be opened up to a whole new light of realization.

Comparison Of Greco Roman And Ancient Mexican Practices
While many funerary customs are unique to their separate cultures, some customs and themes can
be seen through both Greco Roman and Ancient Mexican practices. The most notable of these
themes are the ideals of ritual, honor, pottery, and feasting. These four themes can be seen to have
heavy influences in both Greco Roman as well as Aztec Mayan burialrites. The assessment of these
themes through different cultures necessitates first an evaluation of the basic funerary customs of
each.
Roman Funerary Customs While the model of a Good Roman Death may have differed by person,
the constant remained that a death that was rapid and without suffering, and in the company of
relatives, was ideal. A Roman funeralbegan at the deathbed of the deceased with the last kiss, the
closing of the eyes, and the calling out of their name to confirm death. The role of preparing the
body was taken over by the woman of the house if a pollinctores, a male slave commissioned to
lie out the body, was not employed. There were many laws surrounding the proper and decent
disposal of the deceased as written in the Digest of Roman Law. Due to such laws, some worried
about the legally mandated financial burden would join a burial collegium, a club in which
members would make contributions to expense funerals.
Once prepared, the body would be moved to the atrium of the house and placed on a funeral couch
or a lectus funebris, and surrounded by incense and flowers for mourners to visit and pay their

Essay on Art History
In the early 1700s, the monarchies failures at finance, national debt, involvement in multiple wars
with little care given to veterans and rising unemployment inflamed the people. When coupled with
the monarchies lifestyles of lavish spending on countless mistresses, flouting morals, excessive
parties at court, and political favors, the popularity of royalty was quickly disintegrating. The
irresponsibility of the aristocracy was no longer ignored, and a movement was beginning. This set
the stage for political change.
Writers such as Thomas Hobbes (1588 1679) and John Locke (1632 1704) of England experienced
these changes and began exploring the ideals of republicanism and liberalism through their writing.
Thus, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It did not take long for the ideas to spread through Germany, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain,
Portugal, and the American Colonies. The American Revolution began in 1775, and Thomas Paine
wrote Common Sense in January of 1776. Voltaire who had written thousands of letters, books, and
pamphlets finished his Dictionnaire Philosophique in 1764, and the French Revolution began in
1789.
As these social, political, and moral views changed, so too did the style the arts used to
communicate life. It was during this Age of Enlightenment that the Neoclassical era in art history
began by reflecting these changing views using a style much less ornate and gilded than the
Baroque and Rococo styles that had previously dominated artistic endeavors. Strict adherence to
simple classical style with an aim to technical perfection was favored and borrowed heavily from
Greek and Roman pieces discovered earlier in the 1700s. Art was approached with the same logic
and reason of the age and with much less emotion and drama than Baroque or Rococo.
The subject matter was often dark and serious, morally and ethically upright, or heroic. Where the
aristocracy had valued drama, emotion, and grandeur, the people now valued self denial and self
sacrifice over self indulgence. The colors were often dark or solemn and made use of chiaroscuro,

How Did The Dutch Empire Influence Latin America
The Dutch colonization of Latin America is nothing less than a phenomenon. Against all odds the
Dutch empire rose to colonial prominence in the latter sixteenth century and early seventeenth
century throughout much of Asia, South America and the Caribbean. Coming into their success
from a vast trading network the Dutch had to navigate the murky waters of the countries within the
triangle alliance, consisting of France, England and, Spain. Ultimately, these three countries with
their enormous militaries, naval fleets and, wealth were able to surpass the Dutch as the decades
elapsed. However, despite these great odds the influence the Dutch empire had on Latin Americais
immense. One of the many odds the Dutch overcame was the massive protective legislation of the
triangle alliance countries as well as, for at least a short... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The seventy or so years before these laws were enacted (the British navigation acts were first
enacted in 1651) the Dutch began to build a monumental empire focused on sugar and slave
trading. The Dutch West Indies company was chartered in 1621 to give monopoly to the Dutch
in the trade market of the Caribbean, Brazil and, Africa, thus restricting the trade of more
powerful countries. According to Pieter C. Emmer, a Dutch historian at Leiden University in the
Netherlands, one major reason the Dutch were such successful traders and colonizers was
because Dutch traders were known all over to offer lower freight rates and a better array of trade
goods at lower prices than any of their competitors , thus leading to a stronghold in the region by
virtue of trade (Emmer 341). In addition to their powerful trade markets and shipping capabilities
some early victories in the sea led to even more

  • 2. Essay On Muscle Injury You often hear about athletes who are unable to play their sport due to a pulled hamstring. In fact, a pulled hamstring is one of the most common muscle pulls or muscle injury. Your hamstrings are a group of three muscles that help extend your legs at the hip and flex them at the knee. A pulled hamstring is a strain or tear in the muscles or tendons. To understand what causes a hamstring injury you have to know how muscles work. All muscles work in pairs to perform a task. One set of muscles contracts to exert force while the other set of muscles relaxes. The hamstring muscles located at the back of the thigh, work with the quadriceps muscle group in the front of the thigh. When you want to bend your leg, the hamstring muscles contract and the quadriceps muscles relax. Conversely, when you want to straighten your leg, the quadriceps muscles contract and the hamstring muscles relax. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This frequently happens with the hamstring muscles. The quadriceps muscles are usually much more powerful, so the hamstring can become fatigued faster. A fatigued muscle cannot relax as easily when its opposing muscle contracts, leading to strains. Muscle strains are overuse injuries that result when the muscle is stretched without being properly warmed up. An injury to the hamstring is usually readily apparent. Mild strains may involve simple, uncomfortable tightening of the muscle. More severe injuries may result in a sharp pain in the back of the thigh, usually in full stride. A rupture or tear may leave you unable to stand or walk, muscles may be tender to the touch and painful to stretch your leg. Within a few days after a tear the area may appear very bruised. Remember RICE and you will know the immediate treatment protocol for many sports related injuries, including hamstring pulls or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Concept of Family Health in Nursing Practice Family Health How does a family work as a system in promoting the health of its members? Family is playing an important part in helping to ensure that patients are fit and following the advice of health care professionals. This is because the family is a foundation of support for everyone. At the same time, members can learn about what is impacting their loved one and what kind of procedures need to be followed. When this happens, there will be higher amounts of compliance as they will ensure that the patient continues to stick with their treatment protocol. (Saleeba, 2009) Moreover, the family understands the specifics about the individual s condition and their daily routines. This can help health care professionals to decide if the person is following the proper steps in their therapy. Once this takes place, is the point that health care professionals can make adjustments to reflect changing realities. Those patients, who have their families involved, will be able to receive better care by ensuring that nothing is overlooked. This is the point that physicians will have a more complete picture surrounding their underlying levels of health. (Saleeba, 2009) Evidence of this can be seen with observations from Saleeba (2008) who said, The family should be updated continuously about the patient s condition and procedures. Keeping the family members well informed an including them in procedures can have a dramatic effect on decreasing stress. Studies are being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So when the cocky hare, Celer, had dared him to try to race him, after hurting a friend no less, Henry knew he had to end this Celer s rule, in any way necessary. Henry accepted the challenge much Celer s amusement. The race was set to be exactly one week from that moment. When Henry left the courtyard he had been in, his friends quickly (for turtles anyway) ran toward him. Joey, a large, African Spurred Tortoise, was the first to catch up. Please his voice slowly drifted off as he realized they knew they had left him behind. They were afraid of Henry. They ll be back, they won t stay scared.... Will they? On his way home Henry managed to say something to Shelly. Hey, Shelly what s up Henry asked, hopeful Nothing Shelly said decisively, and she increased her pace. Henry had to run to keep up with Shelly. Please, Shelly, why do you resent me all the sudden? Henry said, though he suspected the answer. Because you bit someone s leg in 2! That s not okay! They are those who have affected me in ways that make me want to be a better person in ways such as volunteering in the community. They help me to advocate for myself when I am falling short, help me on my steps to taking a leadership position, and even speak out on the issues that I feel strongly about. I often don t tend to recognize positive role models until I have noticed my own personal growth. Knowing that it really implies that it takes a positive role modelto know one. Some positive role models are teachers, clergy members, counselors and even friends. Throughout my life, I have had many teachers as positive role models. Some teachers teach right to the tests while others show real world examples and even visit the places that we are learning about and that is what stands out to me. Aubrey, my core teacher in Israel, really exemplifies this and is very committed and an amazing role model that really stands out. Aubrey taught the core curriculum I was a part of while studying in Israel. It is an intense study of Israel and 4,000 years of Jewish history. It comprises of many things such as engaging classroom study and even life changing trips to the sites where history took place. • 6. Bigfoot Dna Primers In order to stack the DNA together, scientists use what is known as a primer. The primer s basic function is to gather like strands of DNA together and stack them so it is easier to see the DNA sequence or amplify the sequence. In the early days of DNA testing, primers were designed for individual species and even subspecies within a family of organisms. For example, primers were developed for humans, bears, dogs, cats, pigs, cattle, etc. If you were trying to identify unknown DNAyou would use the primer for the individual species on the sample. If the primer found and stacked the DNA together or amplified the DNA, then you knew you had this species. If nothing was amplified, then you knew you did not have this particular species. These... Results: The results of our research found that over 95% of the DNA on purported bigfoot specimens returned as Human. NABS found this as an extremely puzzling result considering the BIG names in the Bigfoot world that consider themselves, researchers proclaimed that Bigfoot was a type of ape. In the infamous novel, Great Expectations , Pip s brother in law, Joe, is considered to be one of the most dependable and loyal characters to Pip, despite having adverse personalities. For example, where Pip is known to be zealous and eager to move forward with things at almost any cost, Joe is more of a steady, content man who would much rather stay in the comfortable quarters living of his own home. As a result, Joe is one of the most bona fide and pleasant characters to the reader in Great Expectations. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Essay The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy As the human race makes life changing discoveries, it is made apparent that there is always more to learn as the universe, instead of becoming familiar, is becoming absurd. The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy, written by Douglas Adams, as well as the 2005 film adaption, portrays absurdity to be an all encompassing system in the universe. Through the introduction and attempt to understand lack of reason, the narration of important elements and the human perception of the universe, the novel is as a whole, more complete than the film. With these points it is irrefutable that The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy develops the theme of absurdity with greater prowess than the film, resulting in a deeper... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The novel, rather than describing a complete lack of order, has characters trying to give meaning to events around them. This reinforces the theme of absurdity by strengthening the impact each instance of absurdity has on the novel. The film overlooks this through an overall lack of explanation, resulting in the overall theme of absurdity being collectively, less meaningful. By blatantly introducing absurdity, and attempting to understand the lack of reason, the novel provides a deeper understanding of the theme of absurdity than the film. Furthermore, the novel s narration of events allows greater flow of information, with the film s restrictive media preventing specifics that further the theme of absurdity from being disclosed. The towel is a symbolic item in The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy, with the Guide, an intergalactic encyclopaedia, that is also the narrator, reads: A towel... is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have, (Adams 22). The novel highlights the theme of absurdity more copiously than the film, with the Guide, a universally esteemed source of information, presenting such a trivial object with arbitrary significance. The film includes the towel, but without a narrator, the towel s significance is never stated, and this key instance of absurdity is not developed. Dietary nitrate has been shown to improve the mitochondrial functioning as it affects proteins involved in uncoupling contributing to an increase performance in exercise. The pathway begins through consumption of dietary nitrates that are converted to nitrites by bacteria in the oral cavity. The reduction of nitrates to nitrites may affect hemoglobin. Excess nitrites added to deoxygenated hemoglobin will oxidize to form methemoglobin and nitric oxide(Gladwin Kim Shapiro, 2008). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The body must go through chemical processes for healthy cellular function and homeostasis. Human beings not only consume dietary nitrates but, the body also synthesizes nitrates endogenously. This arises from the oxidation of nitrogenoxide and its end products. The synthesis of nitrates to nitrites occurs endogenously and exogenously in the body. Consumption of inorganic nitrates and nitrites will undergo reductive processes for the body s use and elimination. Nitrates and Nitrites both contain nitrogen in its chemical structure. Nitrogen, in of itself, is often conserved to be reused by the body s cells. Inorganic nitrates and nitrates that are consumed must be equally eliminated. The metabolism of nitrates and nitrites ultimately result in its elimination through salivary excretion or urination. Ingestion of inorganic nitrates will first undergo reductive activity in the oral cavity through the bacteria present on the tongue. The metabolism continues until nitrites are converted to nitric oxide where it enters the circulatory system and distributed to different target tissues. The concentration of nitrites in the salivary glands account for 25% of total dietary intake of nitrates (Gehle, 2007). The remaining concentration of nitrites are distributed in circulation and eventually eliminated through the urine. Each route of elimination helps to rid the body of potentially toxic ... It has its foundation in the theory of variation (understanding common and special causes) and was one of the key tools developed by Walter Shewhart in the 1920s. The primary tools used in SPC are graphical, including Pareto analysis, control charts and run charts. It is crucial for QI teams and researchers to understand variation in data to avoid making errors in interpretation, though in practice, many QI teams do not have sufficient biostatistical training to be able to interpret their data with confidence. The practical power of SPC is that people who are not statisticians can bring significant statistical rigor to their quantitative data in an intuitive format by understanding just a few simple, pattern based rules to distinguish special cause variation (i.e., signals) from common cause variation (i.e., noise). Distinguishing special and common cause variation is critical to understanding whether changes you are making result in improvement (i.e., is there a signal of change present?). Among all of the SPC tools, control charts have the most power to distinguish common from special cause variation. Control charts plot data over time (time on the x axis) and include a measure of central tendency (centerline, mean) and upper and lower control limits (plus /minus 3 sigma of the mean). The control limits reflect the natural variation in the data or the extent of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Importance Of The American Education System Part Four: Importance to the American Education System Students from Arab and Muslim culture will bring unique and positive qualities to our classrooms that need to be recognized and valued. Teachers have a strong influence on how comfortable a student will feel in the classroom community. I believe it is important to create an environment where students feel safe to ask questions, share their culture, be themselves, believe in what they want to believe, and be celebrated for their differences as well as similarities. I believe each culture brings forth students that have a vast array of talents and it is important to know them so that you can teach to those students accordingly. An Arab American student might be an amazing storyteller due to Arabic language and communication styles. They may also be repetitive in their speaking. This is not to be dismissed as unnecessary, but merely how they learned to communicate. Arab American students can also bring high levels of respect to the classroom. They will know the customs of standing as someone enters a room and to not sit with your back facing away from another person. Additionally to their high level of respect, an Arab American student may hold honor and honesty to a high standard. Due to the stereotype that men are supposed to be dominant and aggressive, to see Emily turn her back and murder Homer was quite the reversal of these stereotypes. • 42. Analysis Of Eurydice By Sarah Ruhl Sarah Ruhl s play, Eurydice, is a devastating story battling love, grief, life, and death. Although it is set during the 1950 s, the play manages to encompass the ancient Greek myth of Eurydice and Orpheus. The three most evident themes of this play are recurring death, fleeting happiness, and the power of love. The main conflict in this play is ultimately about the painful choice that comes with death; this is often caused by the King of the Underworld. One of the most impressive parts of this play is the ability to change the way the play is perceived through design. When I envision this play in my head and through my concept, I view the characters in the living world to have bright normal costumes. For Example, I can see Eurydice in sundresses and Orpheus in spring colored button up shirts and pants. This would represent the love and happiness they have for each other. On the other hand, when I think about costumes in the underworld, I believe they would need to be a little bit darker and quirky to represent the hard choices and confusion that death has pushed upon them. I think Eurydice s father should be wearing a dark suit with a crazy tie and no shoes. When both Eurydice and Orpheus arrive in the underworld their clothes should become darker and more sullen. I perceive the Stones as being deceased people from different eras that have completely forgotten who they were, and have been brainwashed by being dipped in the river and by the King of the Underworld. To represent this, their outfits need to look extremely dull and dirty; they should be everyday clothes from their different time periods. All three of their costumes should be torn and drained of all color. The Lord of the Underworld needs to have multiple different costumes. In the world of the living, he needs to be the darkest dressed; he should wear a black suit and tie. In the underworld, I envision him wearing more of a boyish outfit, such as shorts, suspenders, and crazy socks. When he becomes a man and grows to a superhuman high in the end, I would have him wear tall stilts under long dress pants and wear a suit top. The most creative part of this play is the set for both the living world and the underworld. As a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cross guarantees exist where a subset of companies in the corporate group (the closed group ) guarantee the debts of each other. A regulatory approved Deed of Cross Guarantee has existed in Australia since 1991. All subsidiaries party to a Deed of Cross Guarantee must make a solvency statement. HIH and its subsidiary, FAI insurance had cross guarantees in place. As a result of the cross guarantee, HIH adopted a group enterprise perspective when attesting to its regulatory solvency position. The company treated insurance subsidiaries as if they were part of a singular corporate group and netted off related company assets and liabilities in several APRA annual returns . Engel (1990 p. 44) explains that women have been taught by society to become martyrs. Comparison Of Greco Roman And Ancient Mexican Practices While many funerary customs are unique to their separate cultures, some customs and themes can be seen through both Greco Roman and Ancient Mexican practices. The most notable of these themes are the ideals of ritual, honor, pottery, and feasting. These four themes can be seen to have heavy influences in both Greco Roman as well as Aztec Mayan burialrites. The assessment of these themes through different cultures necessitates first an evaluation of the basic funerary customs of each. Roman Funerary Customs While the model of a Good Roman Death may have differed by person, the constant remained that a death that was rapid and without suffering, and in the company of relatives, was ideal. A Roman funeralbegan at the deathbed of the deceased with the last kiss, the closing of the eyes, and the calling out of their name to confirm death.
