Paul Is Comforting And Reassuring The Colossian
Introduction
(Summarise what I think the basic point of the passage is)
In this passage, Paul is comforting and reassuring the Colossians. Their minds were being filled with
false heretical teachings such as worshipping angels over God and trying to reinforce obscure
restrictions from the Old Testament. Paul encourages the Colossians to ignore their false and proud
teachings as, the Head (Jesus) makes the decisions for the body (the church), and all the ligaments
(believers/followers) must do is follow the orders from the head and ignore those that think otherwise.
He reminds the Colossians that Jesus died for us, and he is our leader, which would imply that any
other form of playing God is to be ignored.
Historical Context

They were also advocates of worshipping angels and had claimed that they had a number of
revelations and visions. Angels are part of the creation but are not the creator describes that some
people can misconstrue God s teachings and take them out of context. Worshipping angels also is
symbol of the angels that worshipped Lucifer, which is a demonic teaching, and is blasphemous. (Col
2:18)
The head in this verse represents God, the body represents the church and the ligaments and joints
represent the followers and people of the church. Not holding fast to the head represents the heretics
who ha no relationship with Christ and were true believers in Christianity. The head gives the orders to
the body and the joints and ligaments are what move the body in doing what the church does. Paul
expresses that we are what make the church survive, but it can only ultimately be a Christian church
with Christ leading the way. (Col

Health Determinants Affecting A Population s Health Essay
This week s assignment is on how health determinants affect a population s health, I do understand
what health is which is being at a states of wellness or free from illness or injury. Or as close to that
state as possible because a patient can have a chronic condition and still be at a state of good health
just not as good as a person who is free of disease, injury or illness. And I know a determinant is
something that determines or effects the outcome of something. So a health determinant to me would
be anything that determines or impacts your state of health in anyway negative or positive. To have a
better understanding of what health determinants are I did some online research to see was I correct in
my thinking of what it means. According to Healthy people 2020, determinants of health is the
interrelationships among factors that determine individual and population health. There are
interventions that target multiple determinants of health which are most likely to be effective.
Determinants of health reach beyond the boundaries of traditional health care and public health
sectors; sectors such as education, housing, transportation, agriculture, and environment can be
important allies in improving population health. For discussion purposes, I chose to look at health
determinants of the HIV population. Population health is any factor that improves the well being or
reduces the inequities in the lives of people that live in a particular community. The five

Summary Of The Great Gatsby

Date: 11/7/2017 Décor From the 1920 s
One of the major aspects of the 1920 s was décor. Art and decoration obtained a role in nearly
everything during this time. From parties to everyday life décor was a very influential aspect during
this time.
Jesse James
In the novel The Great Gatsby, readers are treated with many examples of artistic, decorative, and
architectural design by Fitzgeralds excellent descriptions of the colorful environments and locations in
the novel. Nick stated, Gatsby s house The one on my right was a colossal affair by any standard it
was a factual imitation of some Hôtel de Ville in Normandy, with a tower on one side, spanking new

Coco Chanel created a fashion that began to grow rapidly in the 1920 s. She created suits and dresses
for women and they became very popular and still are today. Another person that impacted design in
the 1920 s was Thomas W. Lamb. He was known as a famous theater and cinema designer. For
example, Thomas W. Lamb was known for designing hundreds of theaters and later known as the king
of theaters (Gray). Thomas helped to design movie theaters and this sparked an impact on the 20th
century. Many people enjoyed and took advantage of how much of an impact people, like Coco and
Thomas, had on the 1920 s. If it wasn t for people like them, we wouldn t have movie theaters and a
cute fashion for women today.
Bryant Morgan
Among many other things, art began to flourish and change during this era. One 1920 s décor critic
stated, The Art Deco Movement influenced the way that buildings were erected and clothes were made
(Modras). Art was such a major aspect during the 1920 s that it changed the way architects were
expected to design buildings. This created a new perspective on the way houses and major buildings
were looked at. In fact, these buildings were no longer just used for practical purposes but were now
created to be pleasing to the eye. In addition, in The Great Gatsby Nick notes, Gatsby s house is also a
very lavish building (Fitzgerald 14). Gatsby s

Apartheid and The Future of South Africa in Cry, The...
Arthur, Napoleon, and Msimangu, all characters from Alan Paton s book, Cry, The Beloved Country,
are used to share Paton s points of view on the future of South Africa and the apartheid. Paton uses
these characters to represent specific views; Arthur expresses clearly that the apartheid isn t the right
way to progress as a country, Napoleon exemplifies how Paton thinks people should take the anti
apartheid effort, and Msimangu explicitly expresses Paton s ideas of an ideal leader. Arthur Jarvis was
the son of James Jarvis, an activist for the causes he believed in, and very well liked in the community.
This made him perfect to voice blame; Arthur Jarvis first passage in the book describes the issues that
the exploitation of the natives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Napoleon Letsisi, a man hired by James Jarvis to teach the people of Ndotsheni proper farming
techniques, is described by the author as a good man (Paton 285). Although being one of the last
characters introduced in the book, he has one of the stronger voices in the book, with his views and
attitudes taken towards others. By displaying Napoleon as an educated good man, Paton shows the
value of these characteristics for the future of South Africa. Napoleon s attitude towards the apartheid
is that it happened because of everyone. Umfundisi, it was the white man who gave us so little land, it
was the white man who took us away from the land to go to work. And we were ignorant also. It is all
these things together that have made this valley desolate. Therefore, what this good white man does is
only a repayment (Paton 302). On the same page as the previous quote, Napoleon says that he does his
work not for his patron, but for his people and country (Paton 302). Both the quote and the reference
help frame the way Paton portrays the people s point of view. The first quote shows that in Paton s
eyes, the people thought that the white man is what led to the problems for the people. This is further
supported by Arthur Jarvis passage, where he points out that the white population has evaded the
issues at hand instead of tackling them (Paton 179). The reference of what Napoleon

Examples Of Racism In The Play Fences
When you look at field of dandelions, you can either see a hundred weeds, or a thousand wishes... It s
known as perspective in which, I have learned that two people can look at the exact say thing and see
something totally different. In Fences and Say yes , both authors reveal that different perspectives
about race create conflict with those that you love.
The overall play Fences, deals with racism in various types of ways. In the play fences the perspective
on racism has trickled down from generation to generation. Firstly before Troy even knew what
racism was his father was greatly affected by it. Troy s father was profoundly affected by slavery
during his time of life. Troy said that all his father wanted was for them to learn how to walk so they
could work. The only thing my daddy cared about about was getting them bales of cotton in to Mr.
Lubin, this shows how slavery and racism greatly affected Troy s father. Due to his father being so
caught up in his work he treated Troy and his siblings very poorly, which kind of influenced Troy s
views on white people.
Troy and his son Cory have a really heavily impacted love hate relationship. Troy and Cory both view
racism and white people in various types of ways. Firstly on page 2 Troy states Why you got the white
mens driving and the colored lifting, this already shows a discrepancy that Troy has towards white
people. Troy views him and his friends unequally to the white people in the society during the time
period. Now Troy sees that he has a lack of equality compared to white people. Did white people feel
they had more privilege compared to blacks? It s just a perspective that Troy has about white people
right off the back, now he later runs into some conflict with his loved ones.
One of the biggest disagreement points in the story revolved around Cory wanting to pursue his dream
in college football due to the scholarship he had been offered. The white man ain t gonna let him get
nowhere with that football, said troy, again this quote shows a lack of trust in white people as he
believes that one of the white recruiters won t really take Cory and that Cory will never make a living
out of it. What Troy does not understand is that times

drugs. Finding the best methods of treatment can take a long time because of how everyone reacts to

Also, there are many types of disorders to be picked from. Depression is one of the most major and
easily identifiable, though people tend to hide it away. Depression is a mood disorder that causes a
persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Also called major depressive disorder or clinical
depression, it affects how you feel, think and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and
physical problems. To trace it back in history, the first signs of it emerged around the 5th century B.C.
and was originally called melancholia. At the time, it was considered to be a form of demonic
possession only to be cured by noble priests. The first understandings were that it was a spiritual
problem rather than a physical one. Literature of the time was filled with references to mental illness
caused by spirits or demons. The early Babylonian, Chinese, and Egyptian civilizations also viewed
mental illness as a form of demonic possession, and used exorcism techniques (such as beatings,
restraint, and starvation) designed to drive demons out of the afflicted person s body as treatments. In
one of hippocrates works, he recommended diet, exercise, distraction, travel, purgatives (cleansers that
purge the body of toxins), bloodletting, herbal remedies, marriage, and even music therapy as

Analysis Of Guests Of The Nation

CREATIVE TITLE
Frank O Connor s Guests of the Nation is an ironic and tragic short story of two Englishmen who are
held captive as collateral during the Irish War of Independence. Belcher and Hawkins are friendly
hostages they frequently argue, play cards, and discuss politics and religion with their Irish captors,
Bonaparte and Noble. They behave as if they are unaware of the armed conflict that surrounds them.
The shooting of Belcher is climactic in that O Connor forces the reader to consider the main theme: in
war, everybody has to do his or her duty, so Bonaparte and Noble are unable to prioritize their
friendship. Frank O Connor condemns the concept of nationalism expressing a camaraderie among the
characters preceding the Englishmen s deaths to help them to cope with an adverse situation that is
foreign to all of them. CHANGE THESIS! But how...
In the heat of a war, one would anticipate animosity or turmoil between the nations, not card games
and banter about the afterlife and about capitalism. Instead, the four soldiers coexist peacefully,
possess similar ideas regarding the war, and even consider each other chums. Excluding Donovan, the
men share a common preconception towards nationalism; the hostages final moments include a plea
for life right before Hawkins is shot, he says to Bonaparte: You won t come over to my side, so I ll
come over to your side. Is that fair? (O Connor 3).

Volleyball Is A Popular Sport Across The World For Both
Volleyball is a popular sport across the world for both males and females, whether it be competitively
or recreationally (Mitchinson, 2013). The objective of the game is to send the ball over the net and
have it land inside the opponents court. However, to even start the game or rally, one must serve the
ball from their side of the court to the other side of the court. This then gives the teams an opportunity
to score a point. Therefore, serving is one of the most important skills in volleyball since it is one of
the few ways to continue to score points (Seminati, 2015). A type of serve often is the overhand serve.
This serve requires the subject to toss the ball with one hand and contact the ball with the opposite
hand above the head. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The players were tested using a ten camera motion analysis system. Markers were placed on various
spots on the body to assess movements at the pelvis, thorax, shoulder, arm, and hand. The markers
measure flexion, extension, lateral flexion, and rotation of the trunk. For the upper limb, it measured
internal and external rotation. The players performed ten spike trials to various spots on the court. For
these trials, were then analyzed and Mitchinson concluded that there were no differences in the range
of motion (ROM) of the injured and uninjured athletes. This article is important for analyzing the
biomechanics of a volleyball serve because the motion of the shoulder during a spike and a serve and

of having proper shoulder movement to successfully swing (Mitchinson, 2013).
Elena Seminati, and other scientists, conducted a study on the shoulder range of motion and humerus
rotation in volleyball. The main purpose of the study was to assess the performance/motions of the
shoulder and use that information to determine ways to avoid injury. The introduction of the research
article gave crucial information on the importance of having correct biomechanics to avoid injury. It
stated that shoulder injury is one of the most common injuries in volleyball. The study analyzed 21

Everyone have their own distinct characteristic that make them who they are. Being able relate to

Dr. Landis is a widowed man with two daughters Olive and Sarah Ann. Dr. Landis daughter described
him as a gentlemen, that is intelligent , well respected, and great at giving advice. He went to Harvard
and that is one reason he is different from the other men around here. He is a scholar and not bound to
provincial ideas. People here respect him and come to him for advice (Rich 203). Dr. Landis is a well
known man due to his statues but he also has his own flaws. He can be manipulative towards his
daughters. He does not want secrets between his daughter and him and will do everything to make
them feel ashamed by not being open. When Dr. Landis seen Sarah Ann shove the paper under the
blotter he insisted that she showed him the letter, but Sarah Ann explained that it was private and silly
but in Dr. Landis eyes nothing is silly.

Annie Sullivan was more than just a teacher to Helen Keller. Annie was Helen s eyes an ears. Without
Annie, Helen never would have learned that things have names, or been able to communicate with the

Annie was a very good teacher for Helen, as Annie was once blind herself, so she understands what it

everyone else. Annie has youth, persuasion, and patience. If you were to follow a five year old around

so that she can help Helen. When Kate meets Annie at the train station so that she can take Annie to

energy to do anything. This is what Annie said on page twenty nine of the book. She needs this energy,

Code Of The Inner City Analysis
Life in the Inner City In the novel Code of the Street: Decency, Violence, and the Moral Life of the
Inner City written by Elijah Anderson, Elijah discusses how the environment and the economy affects
the choices that youths in the inner city make. Elijah argues that the inner city black America is
extremely violent, but he also asserts that there is this code individuals in these areas need to
understand in order not to be harmed. Elijah supports this code using interviews and personal stories
from individuals living in the inner cities. An important key point to remember from this novel is that
violence happens because of the socioeconomic issues that surround these cities. In order for Elijah to
explain what life in the inner city is like, he engaged in participant observation, direct observation, and

The interviews that Elijah conducted helped understand that there are many challenges individuals
face in these communities. In addition, most of the key points Elijah explains in this novel can be
compared to the things that people go through when involved in gangs. In every urban neighborhood,
there are two different types of families, decent and street. Street oriented families consist of
individuals that lack education, are involved in violence, and underground activities. Street oriented
individuals are seen as bad people and low life individuals. On the other hand, decent families are
those who work hard for things and influence others to do good in life. Although decent families are
surrounded by illegal activities, they try to look away from it and take the right path towards success.

far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light of meaning in the

Both approaches focus on subjectivity and the inner world of the experiences in live, however
psychodynamics are focused on the impact of the unconscious mind on meanings, motivations,
behaviours and conscious experiences. They refer to inner conflicts (especially between the different
aspects of the psyche id, ego and superego) and the defensive processes used unconsciously to defend
against the anxiety these conflicts creates, including repression, sublimation, projection and reaction
formation. The aim of psychoanalytic psychotherapy is to release repressed unconscious material by
bringing it into consciousness. The person centred approach primary focus on the significance of a
person s conscious feelings and thoughts while not entirely rejecting the relevance of unconscious
feelings. Thus Rogers says that each person lives essentially in her own particular and subjective
world. . While he accepts that a person will not be conscious of all aspects of her subjective world he
believes that the person s awareness of herself is the most important source of knowledge about her.
The aim of person centred counselling is to help clients restore their ability to become aware of what
they really feel. For this the therapist provides an atmosphere of non evaluative, unconditional regard,
a warmth and respect for clients

A Career As An Administrative Assistant
I chose discussion question one to discuss, because I consider this is relevant in current society. What
does an administrative assistant looks like? In my opinion, it depends on the type of industry an
administrative assistant is in. In my career, a downtown business setting an administrative assistant

The Boston Tea Party Summary
The remarkable book by Benjamin L. Carp, Defiance of the Patriots The Boston Tea party the Making
of America, captivates as it expresses the importance of the Boston Tea Party and explains the history
behind it. His theory evidently states that the Boston Tea Party was the result of decades worth of
American outrage at Britain s overwhelming policies. Carp repeatedly emphasizes his point through
metaphors and diction. His purpose differs from others on the topic, simply by challenging the ideas
that have been engraved into young minds by quick history lessons and basic fundamentals. He strives
to change the idea that the Boston Tea Party was the cause of the American Revolution. Through his
book, he clarifies his belief that the revolution was inevitable and his concept of the fact that all events
building up to the Boston Tea Party were significant to the America we have today. A basic building
block behind much of the American resistance was Britain s East India Company. The East India
Company was a major monopoly for trade in the early 1700 s that the British economy relied on
heavily. It relied so heavily that when a depression fell in 1769, the economy fell into pieces. The EIC
went into severe decline. Luckily, British parliament saved the company by loaning it the money to
repay its debts. In return the company had to sell tea with severe taxes to compensate parliament.
Overall, the company had become a slave, selling tea to try and buy its freedom. The company

The Rosewood Hotels Resorts
The Rosewood Hotels Resorts is a private hotel management company founded in Dallas, Texas by
Caroline Rose Hunt Trust Estate in 1979. The company had been adopting an individual branding
positioning strategy, for which it managed a collection of hotels across continents under individual
property names. This positioning strategy had helped differentiate Rosewood from corporate chain
like competitors in the same industry. Prior to 2003, Rosewoods focused mainly on acquiring and
renovating properties, building 12 unique and distinctive hotels globally. This strategy proved
successful, despite the fact that the John Scott, the company s CEO and Robert Boulogne, the COO
were concerned that the company was missing out the opportunity for potential growth in brand
recognition. However, after 25 years of operation, in the year of 2004, the company encountered some
business challenges that became barriers in raising brand awareness and customer retentions.
Issue Statement
Rosewood s individual brand strategy was consistent with their brand concept: A sense of Place ,
which was the underlying standards Rosewood capitalized upon when developing their properties.
This concept implies that each hotel needed to be tailored in a way such that the unique features and
characteristics of a specific location were emphasized and prominent, in respect of interior designs,
services and amenities. This positioning strategy was sufficient to generating considerable revenues

Comparing Love In Inanna And Symposium
Love s Contribution to Power in Inanna and Symposium The presence of love and power in intimate
relationships is prominent in both the Inanna and the Symposium. Both texts contain examples of
intimate relationships that lead to significant effects on the power of those in the relationship. The
Inanna and the Symposium both illustrate that love is the greatest possible catalyst for the attainment
of power. Love provides individuals with attributes that in turn increase their power. This is illustrated
through the courtship of Dumuzi and Inanna and through the speeches regarding love and the
apprentice relationships that are found in the Symposium. Inanna s rise from a helpless girl to a
powerful goddess is chronicled through the Inanna. She ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
52). Inanna never thought about traveling to the dangerous gates of the underworld before she gained
her power. Her rise in power and dominance is notable when comparing her bold decisions as a
goddess to her helpless behavior from the beginning of the text. Inanna s drastic gain in dominance is
linked to her love life because it occurs directly after her courtship with Dumuzi. Before marrying
Dumuzi, Inanna is still very needy and asks her brother Utu who will weave her bridal sheets for her
and who will bleach them for her (pg. 31). Although Inanna is at first hesitant to marrying Dumuzi,
once they are together, Inanna s sense of dominance and power increases. One example of her
increased dominance is the instance when Inanna calls Dumuzi to bed instead of the other way around,
saying The bed is ready! ...The bed is waiting! (pg. 42). This instance of Inanna s dominance is
significant in relation to her power because it occurs in a Sumerian text where a patriarchal society
was prevalent and a woman calling a man to bed would be considered taboo. Inanna s newly found

The Impact Of The British Revolution In Colonial America
Following the French and Indian War, Great Britain began to tighten control over the American
colonies. Britain constricted the rights of the colonists by enacting numerous pieces of legislation.
Some of these acts attempted to tax the colonists on products such as stamps, tea, and currency. After
which, what legislature was passed by the British Parliament, resistance from the American colonists
grew due to these policies of legislation. Changes in British policy in the 1770s, led to a revolution in
colonial America evident in political, economic, and social issues. The Revolutionary War was caused
by the British Parliament, one is because of the political issues. For example, on January 14, 1776,
George Greenville explained that Britain had the supreme legislative power over America (Document
1). According to Greenville, Britain had this supreme legislative power because Parliament had
provided the colonists with much of their needs (Document 1). Greenville continued that this was why
British Parliament believed they had the power to impose taxes on the American colonies (Document
1). As a member of British Parliament, Greenville believed that America should obey Britain because
of the protection the British provide to the colonies (Document 1). Some of the protection the British
provided was military protection from the Indians (Document 1). Greenville s statement proved that
Britain believed they were politically superior of the American colonists. George Washington,

Autoimmune Deficiencies Of Autoimmune Deficiency
Autoimmune Deficiencies are very complex and misunderstood diseases in the world today. Most
people are uneducated and unaware of what these diseases actually are and the trials people diagnosed
with these illnesses face. Due to their lack of education there is also a lack of compassion shown;
causing an awkward, silent tension between people. Lupus is a subcategory of the Autoimmune
Deficiencies. Those with this tend to be silent about their struggle, causing it to be unnoticed in the
world. However, there have been efforts made medically to give these people a true voice. In order to
give them a voice people must know what Lupus actually is, the causes and symptoms of it, and new
research that can help improve the quality of life for those who have the disease. Autoimmune
Deficiency is a medical term used that means that a person s immune system literally attacks and eats
their issue. Their body does not know how to properly indicate the difference between healthy and
unhealthy tissue so they produce antibodies that completely eat both sets of tissue. Lupus performs the
same function in a person s body, but it is a very hard disease to actually diagnose because it can
mimic various other diseases. It goes by the scientific name Systemic lupus erythematosus, with the
common name Lupus being used in everyday terms. This illness is one of chronic pain that can affect
the body both inwardly and outwardly. Inwardly, the body `s immune system eats the issue and can

Analysis Of Lone Ranger And Tanto Fist Fight In Heaven By...
When I write about the destructive effects of alcohol on Indians, I am not writing out of a literary
stance or a colonized mind s need to reinforce stereotypes. I am writing autobiography, Sherman
Alexie. In the book Lone Ranger And Tanto Fist Fight in Heaven, Sherman Alexie blends real life
experience with fiction in order to address the struggles of the Spokane people. He addresses how
historical trauma continues to negatively impact his tribe. In order to describe these struggles Alexie
focuses on a young man named Victor, who represents Alexie. Sherman Alexie describes how alcohol
can damage families, through examining absent parents, aggressive uncles, and the stress of
overcoming alcoholism by stepping out of tradition so that the family may benefit .
One of the many different ways alcohol has affected Victor s family is his parents drinking too much,
and as a result not being there for victor when he needs them. When Victor was a younger, he was at a

How Did The Normans Change The English Language
The Normans had a big impact on the English language. The nobility and Kings changed the

I Am Not A Boxer, And I Don t Battle Anybody
The individual I chose for my exposition is Muhammad Ali, and before you inquire! I am not a boxer,

The transit of Venus, seen from Earth as a small, dark disk crossing over the sun, is one of the rarest

The United Bill Of Rights Essay
http://www.coloradolaw.net/scholarship
The United Bill of Rights is perhaps one of the most important pieces of constitutional legislation that
protects the rights of the individual to freedom, liberty, and personal autonomy by limiting the powers
of the federal government. While most people and the media discussions surrounding the Bill of
Rights usually clusters around the 1st and 2nd Amendments, the 7th Amendment is also an integral
component in limiting federal power, which aids in transferring the power of government from the
concentrated hands of a few to instead the people. However, the 7th Amendment plays a less
significant role in affecting the day to day lives of the average American in today s time than it did
when the Bill of Rights was initially ratified in 1791, and may even be considered obsolete in the
modern world.
The 7th Amendment is fairly straightforward in meaning and intention, but has important implications
in terms of limiting federal power. There are two important elements of this amendment. The first
component, known as the Preservation Clause, declares: In Suits at common law, where the value in
controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved. This is the part
most people know, which details in what situations a jury is needed for trial. The second component,
known as the Re examination clause, states: no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise re examined in

The Management Of Middle Aged Adult By An Adult Geriatric...
This paper outlines the management of cellulitis in middle aged adult by an adult geriatric nurse

the dermis to subcutaneous tissue, characterized by erythema, warmth, and pain (Buttaro, Trybulski,

parts of body such as abdominal wall, head and face may be involved (Bailey Kroshinsky, 2011).

PSC is great theory to guide AGNP to manage the patient holistically and to give compassionate
patient care. The main concept of Watson s PSC is caring. Although this theory is based in nursing and
nursing science, it has been incorporated into a variety of other disciplines, increasing its relevance in
many other fields and validated in many clinical settings (McEwen Willis, 2007). Watson has
background in psychiatric mental health nursing and received her doctorate degree in education
psychology and counseling in Colorado, 1973. Related to nursing metaparadigm, Watson defined
human being as a valued person to be cared for, respected, nurtured, understood, and assisted; health
as the unity and harmony within the mind, body, and soul associated with the degree of congruence
between the self as perceived and the self as experienced; and nursing as a human science of persons
and human health illness experiences that are mediated by professional, personal, scientific, esthetic,
and ethical human care transactions (George, 1990). Instead of defining fourth concept of nursing
metaparadigm, environment, Watson formulated that caring exists in all societies and is passed by the
profession as a unique way of coping with the environment (McEwen Willis, 2007).
Watson believed that the main focus in nursing is on carative factors which are derived from a
humanistic perspective combined with a scientific knowledge base (George, 1990). Seven

The Siege Of Jerusalem
The Siege of Jerusalem has been incongruously regarded as anything from a chocolate covered
tarantula (Hanna 109) to a work of moderation (Narin Van Court 169). While these opinions greatly
differ and are in immediate conflict with each other, there is no doubt from any critic that an important
piece to the study of Siege is discussion of its treatment of Jews. Whether the poem is intended as an
allegory for the crusades, or at its heart a piece of anti Semitic literature as many suspect, there is a
need to grapple with the portrayal of the Jews. In our daily lives, the connotation of objectification is
often negative, but the portrayal of the Jews in The Siege of Jerusalem as objects is a surprisingly

This is a common theme throughout the poem and much of crusades era literature, but in this passage,
more of interest is going on. Titus commits his violent deed, and the positive language denoting that

however, is that his sword is also highly regarded within this passage. This sword is categorized as

The sword is given the descriptor bright, which has positive connotations associated with

The Pros And Cons Of The Military Service
Although many people are familiar with the heroic conscientious objector, World War II American
Army Medic Desmond T. Doss, very few people are familiar with the names of recent conscientious
objectors. In fact, in an all volunteer force that exists in the United States military today, some would
be shocked to learn that about 60 members of the military still apply for to be a conscientious objector
each year. While numerous military members and United States civilians agree that it is outrageous for
a volunteer to the military to decide they cannot fight in a war they enlisted to participate in, this does
not fully encapsulate the issue at hand. The Military Service is incentivized, offering a career,
education, and life long benefits; thus, some will volunteer for Military Service without deeply
considering the ethics of service and their personal convictions; moreover, the nature of war causes
man to struggle with the morality after deployment, resulting in a conviction arriving late into one s
career. Therefore, when faced with unresolved conflict of conscience, it is necessary for a military
member to examine their moral beliefs in order to make an ethical decision regarding whether to
continue military participation.

Dear Editor,
I am writing to you in regard to the Bridger Teton National Forest. I write to you as someone who
believes in preservation. I believe that the forest should be preserved and not conserved. The Bridger
Teton National Forest is a landmark and should be kept that way. It is a place where locals find
solitude in huge tracts of forest backcountry when nearby wilderness areas and national parks are
crowded with out of state visitors. It s also a place that supports traditional, sustainable activities such
as outfitting, guiding, ranching, and recreation ( Wyoming Outdoor Council 2009 2013). All of these
values are being threatened because the forest is being considered for oil and gas development. While
oil and gas may be useful to us, I do not think that the forest should suffer the consequences. The
natural resources should be left alone for everyone to enjoy in its natural state. To upset this would be
environmentally incorrect.

There are many physical traits that differ from humans to squids. First of being, one of the cockeyed

learned was the yellow lenses may help the squid see prey swimming overhead. Some animals have
some sort of camouflage, but the yellow lenses can help predators help see through that camouflage.
Also, an upward allows the squid to scan for prey that light up to camouflage themselves against the
sunlight. The beady, downward facing eye allows for the squid to see creatures lighting up in the
darkness. If

The City Of Angkor And The Khmer Army
The City of Angkor
The City of Angkor was part of the Khmer Empire which was located in Southeastern Asia and there
was a civilisation there between the 9th and 15th centuries AD. The City of Angkor started to decline
in the late 14th century AD then eventually collapsed in the 15th century AD. There are a variety of
things that can be learnt about the City of Angkor and the Khmer and Cham armies fighting methods
through the bas reliefs from the Bayon. There are also many different reasons for the decline of the
City of Angkor which include the fact that they people couldn t battle drought and how much they
over worked the land.
What can we learn from the bas reliefs from the Bayon and elsewhere about the fighting methods of
the Khmer and the Cham armies in this period? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Bayon is located at the site of Angkor in Cambodia and is a Khmer temple which is decorated and
possesses examples of bas reliefs. The bas reliefs that are located at the Bayon are mostly illustrations
of the Khmer and Cham fighters at Bayon and multiple other land battles. These sources also provide
evidence of what the fighting methods where of the Khmer and Cham armies during the period of the
Khmer Empire. These illustrations show predominantly the Cham and Khmer forces fighting on foot
but also show them fighting on elephants. The soldiers would also carry weapons which include
spears and clubs. The soldiers who would rider the elephants were trained very well, they would get a
good view of what was happening and have a good progression of warfare; however the disadvantage
of being on the elephant was that you were seen as an easy

Architecture Is A Concept That Was First Defined By Victor...
Bioclimatic architecture is a concept that was first defined by Victor Olgyay in 1963 (Bondars 2013,
84) and describes the relationship between humans, the climate and the architectural design of a
structure. Bioclimatic design analyses the relationship between a favourable microclimate inside a
structure that is in synergy with the surrounding macroclimate and thus requires minimal mechanical
heating or cooling to achieve the microclimate for habitation (Larasati and Mochtar 2013, 823).
Since the publication of Olgyay s findings in the book Design with Climate: Bioclimatic Approach to
Architectural Regionalism (1963) , design principles of bioclimatic architecture have become
extensively discussed. However, the practical application of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Architects are now called upon to create designs that provide social change, improve the health of a
building s inhabitants, increase equality and in general improve social life (Dutton and Mann 1996 in
Woodward 2007, 3). Bioclimatic design falls within this brief as it priviledges designs that are at one
with the surrounding climate and produce a harmonious microclimate for the inhabitants, thus
improving health and providing social change. However, until recently technical aspects of producing
bioclimatic designs were ceded to specialist trained engineers in the field of Bioclimatics (Altomonte
2009, 13). Thus, keeping architectural education focused on its long held traditions of culture, emotion
and improving the landscape. This ensures that there is a continued gap between the traditional
education of new architects and the education of principles of bioclimatic design. Which makes it
difficult for architects to incorporate bioclimatic principles into their final designs.
Njuguna (1997, 356) further confirming this, finding that 95% of students believed that their
education did not prepare them for a climate responsive design. Citing that the conventional approach
to their architectural education was at fault. The conventional educational approach to architecture,
which sees components such as bioclimatics taught in parallel or even in competition to traditional
architecture simply does not provide an adequate preperation for

Using Multiple Regression Project For New Stores
Multiple Regression Project Jay Ma MGSC6200, 50839 Facilitator: Ike Papadopoulos 05JUL2015
Introduction Pam and Susan s is a discount department store that currently has 250 chain stores
located throughout the South. To sustain its recent continuous expansion into the Border States and
Southwest, identification of the sites for new stores has become an essential factor of its increasing
strategic planning. The current store decisions are based on the traditional process of estimating sales
potential with demographic analyses, site visits and studies by the company s real estate department. A
subjective approach was developed to classify the potential sites to the competitive type of the trading
zone. However, there are ongoing concerns regarding the subjectivity of the competitive type
classifications, and whether this method can predict sales potentials at new sites. The goal of this
project is to build a multiple regression model based on the census data obtained from stores trading
zones and individual stores, to effectively predict sales potentials at new sites. Data The gathered data
contains demographics and economics of the trading zones, and size, composition and sales of the
store. There is a total of 13 major categories of variables including population (%black, % Spanish
speaking), total population , family income (in $1,000s: 0 10, 10 14, 14 20, 20 30, 30 50, 50 100, 100),
average family size, median yearly income, median rent per month, median home

What Is The Communist Manifesto
The Communist Manifesto
The communist Manifesto is the author s way of interpreting the goals of Communism, as well as the
theory underlying this movement. Two major points of the manifesto explain how class relationships
are defined by an era s means of production. Also, the manifesto incorporates how class struggles, or
exploitation of one class by another, are motivating force behind all historical developments. If those
two points are not followed then a revolution occurs and a new class emerges as the ruling one. This
outcome represents the march of history which is driven by economic variables. The Manifesto argues
that this development is inevitable, and the capitalism is inherently unstable. Elimination of social ...

I think that the reading was worth my time. Most readings that I am forced to read do not peak my
interest. This work on the other hand was enjoyable because it was filled with information regarding
the work of communism. This book has to be considered one of many famous literary works. It is hard
to argue that the text is not worth reading. I don t believe in the ideas expressed in the text, but I
respect the impact that the novel has had on society. Communism was viewed as such a scary topic for
most of history and it was interesting to read about it. I am not sure why the author came up with these
ideas. I do know that he was the basis for the idea of communism. It is hard to say that the author did
not contribute to my understanding of the topic because if he did not, then I would be considered an
idiot. It is almost like getting a basketball lesson from Michael Jordon and not improving your game.
The way in which the text was represented made it easy to understand. The four section format was
broken down in a way so it had easy access. The most important thing that I obtained from the text is
how much I am proud to be an American. I love the form of government that we have. A democracy is
something that I am proud to be apart of. It also makes me proud of our government that we went out
to stop the spread of communism. All

  • 2. Paul Is Comforting And Reassuring The Colossian Introduction (Summarise what I think the basic point of the passage is) In this passage, Paul is comforting and reassuring the Colossians. Their minds were being filled with false heretical teachings such as worshipping angels over God and trying to reinforce obscure restrictions from the Old Testament. Paul encourages the Colossians to ignore their false and proud teachings as, the Head (Jesus) makes the decisions for the body (the church), and all the ligaments (believers/followers) must do is follow the orders from the head and ignore those that think otherwise. He reminds the Colossians that Jesus died for us, and he is our leader, which would imply that any other form of playing God is to be ignored. Historical Context (Why Colossians was written. (Col 2:18) The head in this verse represents God, the body represents the church and the ligaments and joints represent the followers and people of the church. Not holding fast to the head represents the heretics who ha no relationship with Christ and were true believers in Christianity. Health Determinants Affecting A Population s Health Essay This week s assignment is on how health determinants affect a population s health, I do understand what health is which is being at a states of wellness or free from illness or injury. Or as close to that state as possible because a patient can have a chronic condition and still be at a state of good health just not as good as a person who is free of disease, injury or illness. And I know a determinant is something that determines or effects the outcome of something. So a health determinant to me would be anything that determines or impacts your state of health in anyway negative or positive. To have a better understanding of what health determinants are I did some online research to see was I correct in my thinking of what it means. According to Healthy people 2020, determinants of health is the interrelationships among factors that determine individual and population health. There are interventions that target multiple determinants of health which are most likely to be effective. Determinants of health reach beyond the boundaries of traditional health care and public health sectors; sectors such as education, housing, transportation, agriculture, and environment can be important allies in improving population health. For discussion purposes, I chose to look at health determinants of the HIV population. Population health is any factor that improves the well being or reduces the inequities in the lives of people that live in a particular community. The five ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was known as a famous theater and cinema designer. For example, Thomas W. Lamb was known for designing hundreds of theaters and later known as the king of theaters (Gray). Thomas helped to design movie theaters and this sparked an impact on the 20th century. Many people enjoyed and took advantage of how much of an impact people, like Coco and Thomas, had on the 1920 s. Arthur, Napoleon, and Msimangu, all characters from Alan Paton s book, Cry, The Beloved Country, are used to share Paton s points of view on the future of South Africa and the apartheid. Paton uses these characters to represent specific views; Arthur expresses clearly that the apartheid isn t the right way to progress as a country, Napoleon exemplifies how Paton thinks people should take the anti apartheid effort, and Msimangu explicitly expresses Paton s ideas of an ideal leader. Although being one of the last characters introduced in the book, he has one of the stronger voices in the book, with his views and attitudes taken towards others. By displaying Napoleon as an educated good man, Paton shows the value of these characteristics for the future of South Africa. Napoleon s attitude towards the apartheid is that it happened because of everyone. Umfundisi, it was the white man who gave us so little land, it was the white man who took us away from the land to go to work. And we were ignorant also. It is all these things together that have made this valley desolate. Therefore, what this good white man does is only a repayment (Paton 302). On the same page as the previous quote, Napoleon says that he does his work not for his patron, but for his people and country (Paton 302). Both the quote and the reference help frame the way Paton portrays the people s point of view. The first quote shows that in Paton s eyes, the people thought that the white man is what led to the problems for the people. This is further supported by Arthur Jarvis passage, where he points out that the white population has evaded the issues at hand instead of tackling them (Paton 179). It s known as perspective in which, I have learned that two people can look at the exact say thing and see something totally different. In Fences and Say yes , both authors reveal that different perspectives about race create conflict with those that you love. The overall play Fences, deals with racism in various types of ways. In the play fences the perspective on racism has trickled down from generation to generation. Firstly before Troy even knew what racism was his father was greatly affected by it. Troy s father was profoundly affected by slavery during his time of life. Troy said that all his father wanted was for them to learn how to walk so they could work. The only thing my daddy cared about about was getting them bales of cotton in to Mr. Lubin, this shows how slavery and racism greatly affected Troy s father. Due to his father being so caught up in his work he treated Troy and his siblings very poorly, which kind of influenced Troy s views on white people. Troy and his son Cory have a really heavily impacted love hate relationship. Troy and Cory both view racism and white people in various types of ways. Firstly on page 2 Troy states Why you got the white mens driving and the colored lifting, this already shows a discrepancy that Troy has towards white people. Troy views him and his friends unequally to the white people in the society during the time period. Now Troy sees that he has a lack of equality compared to white people. Did white people feel they had more privilege compared to blacks? It s just a perspective that Troy has about white people right off the back, now he later runs into some conflict with his loved ones. One of the biggest disagreement points in the story revolved around Cory wanting to pursue his dream in college football due to the scholarship he had been offered. The white man ain t gonna let him get nowhere with that football, said troy, again this quote shows a lack of trust in white people as he believes that one of the white recruiters won t really take Cory and that Cory will never make a living out of it. Analysis Of Guests Of The Nation Kathleen Meserve Mr. Dalvet AP Literature and Composition 10 / 25 / 2017 CREATIVE TITLE Frank O Connor s Guests of the Nation is an ironic and tragic short story of two Englishmen who are held captive as collateral during the Irish War of Independence. Belcher and Hawkins are friendly hostages they frequently argue, play cards, and discuss politics and religion with their Irish captors, Bonaparte and Noble. They behave as if they are unaware of the armed conflict that surrounds them. The shooting of Belcher is climactic in that O Connor forces the reader to consider the main theme: in war, everybody has to do his or her duty, so Bonaparte and Noble are unable to prioritize their friendship. Frank O Connor condemns the concept of nationalism expressing a camaraderie among the characters preceding the Englishmen s deaths to help them to cope with an adverse situation that is foreign to all of them. Carp, Defiance of the Patriots The Boston Tea party the Making of America, captivates as it expresses the importance of the Boston Tea Party and explains the history behind it. His theory evidently states that the Boston Tea Party was the result of decades worth of American outrage at Britain s overwhelming policies. Carp repeatedly emphasizes his point through metaphors and diction. His purpose differs from others on the topic, simply by challenging the ideas that have been engraved into young minds by quick history lessons and basic fundamentals. He strives to change the idea that the Boston Tea Party was the cause of the American Revolution. Through his book, he clarifies his belief that the revolution was inevitable and his concept of the fact that all events building up to the Boston Tea Party were significant to the America we have today. A basic building block behind much of the American resistance was Britain s East India Company. The East India Company was a major monopoly for trade in the early 1700 s that the British economy relied on heavily. It relied so heavily that when a depression fell in 1769, the economy fell into pieces. The EIC went into severe decline. Comparing Love In Inanna And Symposium Love s Contribution to Power in Inanna and Symposium The presence of love and power in intimate relationships is prominent in both the Inanna and the Symposium. Both texts contain examples of intimate relationships that lead to significant effects on the power of those in the relationship. The Inanna and the Symposium both illustrate that love is the greatest possible catalyst for the attainment of power. Love provides individuals with attributes that in turn increase their power. This is illustrated through the courtship of Dumuzi and Inanna and through the speeches regarding love and the apprentice relationships that are found in the Symposium. Inanna never thought about traveling to the dangerous gates of the underworld before she gained her power. Her rise in power and dominance is notable when comparing her bold decisions as a goddess to her helpless behavior from the beginning of the text. Before marrying Dumuzi, Inanna is still very needy and asks her brother Utu who will weave her bridal sheets for her and who will bleach them for her (pg. 31). Although Inanna is at first hesitant to marrying Dumuzi, once they are together, Inanna s sense of dominance and power increases. One example of her increased dominance is the instance when Inanna calls Dumuzi to bed instead of the other way around, saying The bed is ready! ...The bed is waiting! (pg. 42). After which, what legislature was passed by the British Parliament, resistance from the American colonists grew due to these policies of legislation. Changes in British policy in the 1770s, led to a revolution in colonial America evident in political, economic, and social issues. The Revolutionary War was caused by the British Parliament, one is because of the political issues. For example, on January 14, 1776, George Greenville explained that Britain had the supreme legislative power over America (Document 1). Greenville continued that this was why British Parliament believed they had the power to impose taxes on the American colonies (Document 1). As a member of British Parliament, Greenville believed that America should obey Britain because of the protection the British provide to the colonies (Document 1). Watson has background in psychiatric mental health nursing and received her doctorate degree in education psychology and counseling in Colorado, 1973. Related to nursing metaparadigm, Watson defined human being as a valued person to be cared for, respected, nurtured, understood, and assisted; health as the unity and harmony within the mind, body, and soul associated with the degree of congruence between the self as perceived and the self as experienced; and nursing as a human science of persons and human health illness experiences that are mediated by professional, personal, scientific, esthetic, and ethical human care transactions (George, 1990). Instead of defining fourth concept of nursing metaparadigm, environment, Watson formulated that caring exists in all societies and is passed by the profession as a unique way of coping with the environment (McEwen Willis, 2007). Architects are now called upon to create designs that provide social change, improve the health of a building s inhabitants, increase equality and in general improve social life (Dutton and Mann 1996 in Woodward 2007, 3). Bioclimatic design falls within this brief as it priviledges designs that are at one with the surrounding climate and produce a harmonious microclimate for the inhabitants, thus improving health and providing social change. However, until recently technical aspects of producing bioclimatic designs were ceded to specialist trained engineers in the field of Bioclimatics (Altomonte 2009, 13). Thus, keeping architectural education focused on its long held traditions of culture, emotion and improving the landscape. This ensures that there is a continued gap between the traditional education of new architects and the education of principles of bioclimatic design. Which makes it difficult for architects to incorporate bioclimatic principles into their final designs. Njuguna (1997, 356) further confirming this, finding that 95% of students believed that their education did not prepare them for a climate responsive design. Citing that the conventional approach to their architectural education was at fault. The conventional educational approach to architecture, which sees components such as bioclimatics taught in parallel or even in competition to traditional architecture simply does not provide an adequate preperation for ... • 47. Using Multiple Regression Project For New Stores Multiple Regression Project Jay Ma MGSC6200, 50839 Facilitator: Ike Papadopoulos 05JUL2015 Introduction Pam and Susan s is a discount department store that currently has 250 chain stores located throughout the South. To sustain its recent continuous expansion into the Border States and Southwest, identification of the sites for new stores has become an essential factor of its increasing strategic planning. The current store decisions are based on the traditional process of estimating sales potential with demographic analyses, site visits and studies by the company s real estate department. A subjective approach was developed to classify the potential sites to the competitive type of the trading zone. However, there are ongoing concerns regarding the subjectivity of the competitive type classifications, and whether this method can predict sales potentials at new sites. The goal of this project is to build a multiple regression model based on the census data obtained from stores trading zones and individual stores, to effectively predict sales potentials at new sites. Data The gathered data contains demographics and economics of the trading zones, and size, composition and sales of the store. There is a total of 13 major categories of variables including population (%black, % Spanish speaking), total population , family income (in $1,000s: 0 10, 10 14, 14 20, 20 30, 30 50, 50 100, 100), average family size, median yearly income, median rent per month, median home ... • 48. What Is The Communist Manifesto The Communist Manifesto The communist Manifesto is the author s way of interpreting the goals of Communism, as well as the theory underlying this movement. Two major points of the manifesto explain how class relationships are defined by an era s means of production. Also, the manifesto incorporates how class struggles, or exploitation of one class by another, are motivating force behind all historical developments. If those two points are not followed then a revolution occurs and a new class emerges as the ruling one. This outcome represents the march of history which is driven by economic variables. The Manifesto argues that this development is inevitable, and the capitalism is inherently unstable. Elimination of social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I think that the reading was worth my time. Most readings that I am forced to read do not peak my interest. This work on the other hand was enjoyable because it was filled with information regarding the work of communism. This book has to be considered one of many famous literary works. It is hard to argue that the text is not worth reading. I don t believe in the ideas expressed in the text, but I respect the impact that the novel has had on society. Communism was viewed as such a scary topic for most of history and it was interesting to read about it. I am not sure why the author came up with these ideas. I do know that he was the basis for the idea of communism. It is hard to say that the author did not contribute to my understanding of the topic because if he did not, then I would be considered an idiot. It is almost like getting a basketball lesson from Michael Jordon and not improving your game. The way in which the text was represented made it easy to understand. The four section format was broken down in a way so it had easy access. The most important thing that I obtained from the text is how much I am proud to be an American. I love the form of government that we have. A democracy is something that I am proud to be apart of. It also makes me proud of our government that we went out to stop the spread of communism. All ...
