Character Rank In Society in The Canterbury Tales by Chaucer
The Canterbury Tales can be understood as a Chaucerian satire according many readers. Chaucer sets
out to deliberately upset the social order present at that time and to mock the faults present in the
characters. Although he baffles about the complexity of the characters, Chaucer also praises and
condemns characters for their unique qualities. Chaucer further gives us feedback of what actions the
characters are taking in their lives. Many of the pilgrims are headed off to Canterbury, to worship the
relics of Saint Thomas Becket. Thomas Becket was murdered by his friend King Henry and soon
Canterbury became a pilgrimage site for people to pray for their healings. As for Chaucer, he observed
both high and lower social class to get a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Line 73) The Knight, according to Chaucer takes the code of chivalry very seriously and straight
forth. He based his values on the code of chivalry and doesn t intend to break it. His attire also
contributes to why Chaucer thinks highly of him. His clothes are made from a coarse cloth and his
coat is rust stained. We can infer that the Knight isn t very wealthy but regardless, when compared to
the other characters, he lives the best life of all. The Merchant is a high figure in society because he is
a part of the wealthy class. Although he may seem unmoral because being part of the wealthy class,
Chaucer s perception is very different. Chaucer believed he was a worthy man because he governed all
[his] trade affairs well. (Lines 282 283) Chaucer admires the way the Merchant handles his business,
doing what it takes to get his job done. He borrows money and disguises himself well if and never he
is in debt. Looking at the Merchant physically, we can see that he has nice things such as his elegant
boots [and] Flemish beaver hat. (Lines 272 273) Again, it seems as though he cares immensely over
material possession, but he does it to look more sophisticated in his business plans. Even though the
Merchant is already classified a member of the higher class, Chaucer also puts him in the higher ranks
because of his intelligence in trade and business. Chaucer s principle

Online Marketing Strategy For One s Marketing And...
Abstract
Online marketing has grown into one of the most popular marketing channels in the world today.
Many organizations, from the smallest SMEs to the largest sized firms have implemented or are in the
process of implementing online marketing strategies. However, there is still a large number of
organizations that despite the recent trends, have not adapted or fully embraced the online marketing
trend. The purpose of this study is to investigate the various trends in the implementation of online
marketing strategies, and the reasons why some companies have not embraced the online marketing
trend. This paper will examine the importance of adding online marketing strategy to one s marketing
and corporation budget. It will also review the pros and cons of social networking when used as a
marketing tool. This paper analyses the web presence of five companies, and afterwards conducts
interviews with employees to look at the reasons for the varying online presence. The findings show
that generally, companies are on the way to embracing online marketing. The variations come as a
result of the nature of the employees and the attitudes of top management on online marketing.
Introduction
The past decade or so has seen consumers and companies experience new ways in which advertising
and marketing have been applied to both new and existing products and services. These changes have
especially been encouraged by technological improvement which have led to the increased

As a result of SKM s efforts, John Fruehwirth, a principal at Allied Capital, was considering an
injection of $20 million worth of mezzanine debt/growth capital in E bar. Fruehwirth was aware of the
fact that a restaurant with significant growth opportunity like E bar could either be the next
Cheesecake Factory, or flop and take the debt injection along with it. E bar has shown initial success
in California, but Allied s investment committee needed to evaluate if this continued success can be
applied outside the state. Areas of main concern included if the E bar concept was sufficiently strong
to visit and be a nationwide brand or if it had been merely a California concept. And in the case of
success, would Allied Capital be able to meet is underwriting standards? Based upon the Black
Scholes formula and the financial information provided in this case, it is recommended that a current
stock price of $6.18 be used and the warrant agreement be increased to 3.9% of total shares
outstanding to yield an IRR of 18%. This report will support and examine E bar s ability in generating
the required return on invested capital from Allied Capital and conclude by providing a
recommendation on the deal alterations based on Allied Capital s needs. The next section examines
AC s due diligence on E bar s growth potentials and the industry it operates in.

Abraham Lincoln Contributions
Throughout history there have been numerous Americans who have contributed to the development of
America. From the long lists of names, there is always one name that rises above all the others,
Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln is commonly known as the one of the nation s greatest president because of
his accomplishments and achievements, especially during the civil war. However, even before his
presidency, Lincoln had a respectable reputation amongst the people. He was known to defuse the
tension between two people through his humor and optimistic view of life. Lincoln s victory in the
election of 1860 caused the South to secede from the union, thus creating a costly and bloody war that
forever changed America. Although it was one of the worst times in American history, Lincoln
remained loyal to the people and was a strong leader throughout his presidency; his contributions to
America will never be forgotten. Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in Hardin Country,
Kentucky. His parents were Thomas and Nancy Lincoln who raised him with a modest upbringing. At
a young age, Lincoln lost his mother to a milk sickness in 1818. Just over a year of his mother s death,
his father remarried to Sarah Johnston, a strong and loving woman with whom Abraham had quickly
become close to. Due to a land dispute in 1817, the Lincolns were forced to move to Perry County,
Indiana. In 1830, they moved again to Macon County, Illinois and then again to Coles County.
However, instead of moving to Coles

Evolution of Human
Human evolution is the biological and cultural development of humans. A human is any member of
the species Homo sapiens, meaning wise man. Since at least the Upper Paleolithic era, some 40,000
years ago, every human society has devised a creation myth to explain how humans came to be.
Creation myths are based on cultural beliefs that have been adopted as a legitimate explanation by a
society as to where we came from. The science of paleoanthropology, which also tries to create a
narrative about how humans came to be, is deeply technical. Paleoantropology is the science of the
evolution of humans, and it is the base of all research in that field. Humans have undergone many
different changes during the last hundred million years, and it is ... Show more content on

Associated with these changes is a gradual reduction in the size of the face and jaws. In early
hominines, the face was large and positioned in front of the braincase. As the teeth became smaller
and the brain expanded, the face became smaller and its position changed. Thus, the relatively small
face of modern humans is located below, rather than in front of, the large, expanded braincase.
Evidence of immediate relatives of the human species begins about five million years ago with the
Australopithecus genus and leads in to the primitive Homo genus to modern humans. The nature of
the human s evolution before that is uncertain, but scientists have hypothesized some ideas. What they
do know is that between 7 and 20 million years ago, primitive apelike animals were widely distributed
on the African and later on the Eurasian continents. Although many fossil bones and teeth have been
found, the way of life of these creatures, and their evolutionary relationships to the living apes and
humans, remain matters of strong disagreement among scientists. One of these fossil apes, known as
Sivapithecus, appears to share many features with the living Asian great ape and the orangutan, whose
direct ancestor it may well be. None of these fossils, however, offers convincing evidence of being on
the evolutionary line leading to the hominid family generally. But they do help paint a picture of what
early human relatives could have been like. The convincing

Theories Of Motivation And Motivation
2.2 Motivation
Kressler (2003, 1 2) defines motivation as a rationale behind human behavior; anyone who has
motives is motivated and has reasons and causes for their actions and inaction. Rationale to work is
generally a combination of necessity to work, to satisfy individual needs and to avoid frustration.
However motivation is highly personal and people react differently to motivational factors. Armstrong
(2006, 317) continues that motivation has three dimension; direction that tells what person is trying to
do, effort which explains how hard persons is trying and persistence that clarifies how long person
keeps on trying. Motivation shortly is a goal directed behavior where actions lead to a valued reward
and as Pinder (2008, 11) defines: Work motivation is a set of energetic forces that originate both
within as well as beyond individual s being to initiate work related ... Show more content on

However not in all organizations employees are responsible of their career development and it might
need managerial presence in order to be achieved. For that rewards like incentives, promotions,
praises and appraisals are created. It is how ever argued whether rewards affect to work motivation or
just the quality of working life since it is commonly agreed that monetary rewards like bonuses or
incentives have only short time effect on human behavior and motivation is a long run matter. Cam
eron Pierce (2002, 11) even claimed that money or other high rewards can be harmful or lead to
negative motivation if they are frequently used since employees might get used to it and when
monetary rewards are being discontinued it can make them do less and more importantly enjoy less of
their doing since there is no reward

Business Owners Vs Yelp Case Study

business. The plaintiffs, the small business owners who asserted that Yelp exactioned or attempted to
exaction advertising payments from them by manipulating user reviews and posting negative reviews

To start, we note that there is no allegation that Yelp directly threatened economic harm if the business
owners refused to purchase advertising packages from Yelp. While the lack of such express threats
does not alone dispose of the extortion claims, see United States v. Marsh, 26 F.3d 1496, 1501 (9th
Cir. 1994), it does make the business owners case considerably more difficult. Absent explicit threats
of economic harm, the business owners must allege sufficient facts to support the inference, In re
Century Aluminum Co. Sec. Litig., 729 F.3d 1104, 1107 (9th Cir. 2013), that Yelp inten[ded] . . . to
induce payment through the use of threats or the exploitation of [economic] fears, United States v.
Greger, 716 F.2d 1275, 1278 (9th Cir. 1983). Applying this standard, we conclude that the business
owners have not alleged sufficient facts to support their claim that Yelp authored negative user reviews
of the businesses in question. For these reasons and the reasons explained in Part II.B of this opinion,
we conclude that none of the business owners have stated a claim of unlawful conduct on the basis of
extortion. We therefore affirm the dismissal of the separate claims of civil extortion and attempted
civil extortion, as

Genetically Modified Organisms ( Gmos )
GMO Labeling
Virginia L .Burns
Jefferson Technical Community College GMO Labeling
Introduction
Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are living organisms that are artificially manipulated usually
in a laboratory through genetic engineering (The Non GMO Project, n.d.). These organisms are
practically the combination of plants, animal, bacterial, and viral materials that do not exist in
naturally. These experiments that take place in the labs to produce the GMOs can be through artificial
mixing or traditional crossbreeding approaches. The aim of producing the GMOs was to increase food
availability, crop tolerance, improved nutrition, and other consumer benefits, until this date this goal
has not been achieved (The Non GMO ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the USA there are no restrictions on the labeling of food products; this include the policy on GMOs
increasing the chances for consumers purchasing the modified foods unknowingly (Down to earth,
n.d.). The Down to Earth organization calls for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to instruct a
mandatory labeling of food products as many of the citizens favor labeling and would want to have the
right of choice.
Another issue that institutes the requirements for labeling of GMO products is safety and health risks
(Bain Dandachi, 2014). This concern goes hand in hand with the right of the consumers to have a
choice on what to consume. Labeling would ensure that the customers are purchasing what they deem
safe and take home what they are not allergic to their health conditions. The branding on the GMO
products would exclusively give a consumer the power to control what their families eat as they can
deduct how the products were manufactured or processed. Further, the labeling increases
empowerment and transparency in the food system that would allow people have a say on what they
consume. The next section is going to discuss the major points that surround the testing of GMOs, the
reasons why agribusiness are refusing labeling of GMOs, and the health risks and environmental
impacts of GMOs.
The Process of Testing GMOs
Since there are safety issues attached to the production and consumption of GMOs, the FDA has set
guidelines that regulate these

Kellogg s PEP Commercial
Beginning in 1923, Kellogg s, a cereal company in Battle Creek, Michigan, created PEP, a whole
wheat cereal. In 1930, it became the first fortified cereal consisting of vitamins B and D. According to
Kellogg s official website, it also became the first product to undergo food fortification, or adding of
minerals and vitamins, using the spray method (par. 4). Prior to its discontinuation in the late 1970s,
the company focused extensively on sponsored advertisement. Kellogg Company partnered with
sponsoring radio networks, The Singing Lady and the Howie Wing , to help the food and
entertainment industry.
Even though PEP cereal is no longer selling, one advertisement during its era of popularity brings up
controversial points. Dating back to its early release during the 1930s, the classified ad is of antique
value. The photo also features a husband just getting off work, dressed in a suit, putting his arms
around his wife, embracing her with a back hug. The wife is wearing typical housewife clothing
(heels, cooking apron, dress, and feather duster), returning the back hug with a smile. The picture also
features a box of vitamins in the left lower corner, along with the couple s conversation. The content
of the image seems to discuss with an audience immersed in a traditional viewpoint of gender identity.
The purpose of the ad is to promote Kellogg s PEP vitamin infused cereal. The message conveys that
the added vitamins will enhance the wife s task performance. At the

the feeling of being unable to avoid negative experiences because the past has taught them that they
are not in control. The study of learned helplessness was first experimented on dogs, and later it was
realized that it had the same effects and impacts on humans. Past research suggests that learned
helpless subjects are likely to make internal, stable, and global causal explanations for unfavorable

commercialism, materialism, and the buy now, pay later motto have become the norm. However,

The Great Old Ones
When you chose to represent each of your albums on individual novellas from one of the most
renowned horror authors in the world, there can hardly be a short supply of thematic inspiration.
Numerous bands have created concept albums based around their own ideas, or pen songs that take
insight from creative writing, but few bands will dedicate the entire span of an album to an existing
piece of literature.
H.P. Lovecraft is the lifeblood of France s ambient black metal quintet, The Great Old Ones. His
grotesque imagery in his vivid fictional recounting goes hand in hand with the bleak grandeur that The
Great Old Ones conjures, which simultaneously takes their audience on a journey through the band s

EOD: A Tale of Dark Legacy is very much a continuation of the band s past two albums, only with
increased theatrics and wild execution. The guitars are solely focused on creating a grandiose
atmosphere but predominantly rely on walls of sound and swerving rhythms; the halfway point of The
Ritual inducing a heavy Emperor influence. The technique may sound one dimensional but it s what
imagery is being portrayed by the guitars that command your attention, not how it is portrayed.
Finally, a special mention has to go to Léo Isnard s pummelling drumming, which is nothing short of
breathtaking throughout this accursed plot.
The Great Old Ones have once again breathed further life into the fictional world of H.P Lovecraft as

Essay about Predicting Voting Behavior
Predicting Voting Behavior
Voting behaviour is increasingly hard to predict because of the variables that ultimately affect it, these
being class, gender, age, ethnicity and regional locality. It is the job of a political scientist to weigh up
these factors along with public opinion on major and current issues such as the Health Service, Crime
etc. In addition to these they will look at past elections and their statistics to determine the possible
result of an imminent election.
Research in the 1950 s and 60 s in Britain and the USA indicates that all the factors that might
contribute to a persons voting behaviour such as religion, gender, age and regional locality; social
class was by far ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However this was put under massive dispute throughout the sixties and early seventies until nineteen
seventy nine where the conservatives were found to have major success in the general elections
because of high amounts of working class votes and the theory was suggested correct. Whatever the
reasons the Conservatives won the working class vote the theory did not account for the drop in
middle class voters.
Ultimately unless the parties fall into a trend whereby one is totally right wing and the other left wing
it will be very hard to predict or stereotype people to a political party just because of their class or
position in society.
Gender is out of the five categories, the most hard to base any conclusions from since the nineteen
ninety seven elections. This is because from the statistics there is very little gender differences in party
choice. Previously gender was attributed for one of the reasons for party choice; the majority of
women voting in the UK in the four elections between nineteen seventy nine and nineteen ninety two
voted Conservative than they did for any other party. This is slightly ironic because the Conservative
party was in fact the worst represented in terms of female MP s out of the major forerunners being
Labour and The Liberal Democrats. The complete disappearance of the

Sigmund Freud s Psychodynamic Theory
Sigmund Freud s psychodynamic theory can be described as a view that explains personality in terms
of conscious and unconscious forces such as unconscious desires and beliefs (Chegg Study). Sigmund
Freud developed this theory in the early 20th century based on the assumption that our unconscious
desires influence many of our actions in our everyday lives (McLeod 2009). In addition, another
assumption of Freud s that contributed to this theory was that our childhood experiences influence us
greatly and make us into the person we are today. Freud proposed the psychodynamic theory
according to which personality consisted of the Id, the super ego and the ego (McLeod 2009). The Id
is the pleasure principle concerned with instincts and pleasure and operates by primary processes
which thereby, does not take into account the reality principle (McLeod 2009). For example, if you
were extremely thirsty; instead of going to buy a bottle of water or refilling your own bottle, you
would drink from someone else s water bottle without their permission and without them knowing.
This example demonstrates how the Id principle operates without taking into account what is socially
acceptable in order to satisfy a need. The ego is the reality principle which not only operates by
secondary processes concerned with reason and logic, but also mediates between the Id and super ego
according to reality (McLeod 2009). For example, in the same scenario, instead of drinking from
someone else s water

Society In The French Society Of The 14th Century
Intro, The French society of the 14th Century was very hierarchal and had a strict structure of people
at the top, the Royal House of Capet/ Valois, and the peasants at the bottom, this is called Feudalism.
Religion was a big part of society in the 14th Century and really until the French Revolution, France
was a very strong Catholic nation. France s like most of Europe at the time had a very agricultural
economy. The 14th Century was a time of turmoil, diminished expectations, loss of confidence in
institutions, and feelings of helplessness at forces beyond human control This is how the 14th century
is described, this is due to the amount of changes the whole of Europe went through, from changing
borders, natural disasters, and social unrest. Black Death, The Black death is described by Gottfried as
being the Greatest natural disaster in European history. Philip Daileader estimates 45% 50% of the
population of Europe dead while Ole Benedictow has 60%, and as the population of all of Europe was
80 million, that is 50 million people, however Philp Ziegler says that figures during the middle ages
are hazardous as people did not keep a complete record, but around a third of Europe died. These
figures, although they are for all of Europe shows that the Black Death played a dramatic part in
French society as many of those would haven been peasants who worked the land. In parts of France
they blamed the English for spreading the plague, due to the ongoing war between the two nations,
this caused further tension between the two countries. The Plague first struck Europe in 1347 while
France and England were at war this allowed the plague to spread more quickly. The famine that had
started in 1333 had ended recently which meant crop production and the reverse of grain had not yet
recovered causing more deaths. The economy for most countries had started to become crippled as
they lost a lot of people who worked the land, however most countries the wages of workers improved
as landowners needed people to work the land, labour became more mobile as people moved to where
the conditions were more favourable . People s view on religion also started to change as The Catholic
Church suffered a credibility loss

The Growing Trend of Sex and Violence in Media Today...
Modern day society is composed of rules and structures. The general public has become much more
sensitive over the years, resulting in a very politically correct atmosphere. Moreover, parents have
decided that the opportune way of reaching their ambitions is through the lives of their children.
Under this strict lifestyle, one would presume that our values are very conservative. Surprisingly, the
opposite is true. Due to the sexual and violent permissiveness in today s Multi Media, our society has
developed a sordid standard of morals. Sex is often considered to be taboo among families. Parents do
not want to believe that their children are aware of it, and vice versa. While the family is living in a
state of denial, the media is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Media boardrooms have become corporate playgrounds which consistently intensify the raciness of its
images and videos to maintain the shock value of sex. Consequently, all forms of sex have become
increasingly acceptable. It is no longer considered taboo to perform sexual acts soon after meeting an
individual. Sex was once restricted to married couples, but even pre teenage children have lost their
innocence. Due to its unspoken nature within families, parents are often unaware of their child
s/children s sexual activity. Only exposed to the attractive side of sex conveyed by the media, children
do not receive appropriate education, resulting in teenage pregnancies and sexually transmitted
diseases. The saturation of sexual messages by the media would lead an outsider to believe that we are
very permissive of sexual behaviour, yet the very opposite is taught at the family level. Violence in
society has suffered a similar fate. We are taught from a very young age that violence is wrong. We are
all aware that instead of hitting people, we should resolve our problems through conversation,
violence is never the answer. If this is common knowledge, why does our society have so much
violence? Unfortunately, this can also be blamed on the media. Parents teach their children that
violence is inappropriate, but the media implies that it is acceptable. Some of today s most popular

permitted to do in gray areas such as password protected smartphones that cannot be easily hacked
into but is it not necessary to be able to access such an influential tool in a person s life when it comes
to crime? It is in dispute whether this is true, and, specifically, whether Apple and Google and other
such technology giants should be legally compelled to provide law enforcement with passwords to

Computer forensics (which applies to personal computers, mobile phones, pagers, etc.) has been
indispensable in cracking cases involving terrorism, sexual predation, and even murder .
Unfortunately, though, more recently technology has become more secure, password protected, and
encrypted, which causes intense difficulty in the use of computer forensics in investigative work.
There have been dozens of crimes committed where technology, if it were accessible, would have
played a critical role in its solution. Yet due to the passwords on these phones, information that might
be so crucial is unavailable to police. In particular, there was a murder committed in Baton Rouge in
April 2015, where a pregnant woman named Brittney Mills was shot by law enforcement cannot tell.
They believe that it was someone she knew, but were incapable of getting many leads, and they were
not able to access the young woman s phone, though they strongly believe that Mills s iPhone could
hold the key to unlocking the mystery of her death. The victim s mother shared that she knew Brittney
had a diary on her phone, recording all the negative things that happened to her, and perhaps this
would have held some clue to the woman s killer. Alas, her phone had not been backed up to iCloud
for a few days, and nobody knew Brittney s phone s password. The intelligence on the phone could
not be recovered for

What was the object of Task Force Baker? What problems might it have had in stopping the
insurgency? How did perceptions change both by those in Pinkville and by American soldiers

Its purpose was to break the infrastructure of the North Vietnamese Army and Viet Cong in that
central plain of Quang Ngai province. Quang Ngai had a reputation for hating foreign occupying
forces. They didn t like strangers entering among them and then exercising the military power. Some
areas of the province had been declared pre fire zones, where constant rounds of bombings of villages.
It was thought that they were cranking out enemy soldiers. Soldiers thought they were going to be

Descriptive Essay On Skis
Butterflies in your stomach, wind ripping at your coat, eyes closed, praying you don t die as you point
your skis down the mountain says dad as he describes what our first day will be like while we travel
the sixteen hour drive to Winter Park, Colorado. Most of this drive is dull, all we see is flat Kansas and
its huge windmills, until we hit Denver. Then our eyes light up, hearts beat faster and we can t breath
as we gaze upon the mountain tops. We wind up those beautiful mountains, and our anticipation builds
the higher we climb. We get closer and closer to the resort when we feel a sharp turn as we pull into
the cabin. Anticipation turns to disappointment when we realize we have to wait until morning to hit
the slopes. Suddenly everyone is gloomy, moping around the cabin unpacking, longing for tomorrow.
Finally it s morning. Everyone is rushing around, scarfing down food, and jumping into the vehicles.
We stop by the ski rental shop for our skis, which is a long ordeal. Each person has to read and sign a
big pamphlet, get insurance checked, and try on several pairs of ski boots and skis until the fit is right.
We have to do that for fifteen people. It s awful, but worth the wait as we head to the mountain.
We finally arrive at the mountain. We trudge through the snow in our awkward ski boots, stop near the
lift to clip on our skis and get into line. We are given a brief run through of how to get on the lift as we
scoot forward to a line, being careful to not

As I Lay Dying By William Faulkner Essay
As I Lay Dying Final Essay
In the novel As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner, relates to what seems to be the main concern and
topic throughout the story, which is the death of Addie Bundren. The long and strange journey to
Jefferson County, Mississippi to bury their mothers body seems to undertake the family together.
Faulkners technique throughout his story presents individual sections of the characters throughout
their thoughts, perspectives or the events taking place throughout the novel. You can see all the family
members and characters have different characteristics of their identity. This idea can be seen as
grotesque and the death of their mother inspires several questions about the character s existence and
identity and they all seem to encounter the death of their mother uniquely.
Each member of the family has a difficult time understanding death and react to it differently.
Throughout the Bundren s experience, we see that Varadman is obsessing over a fish he caught shortly
after his mother s death. Vardaman, who is the youngest does not yet seem to understand or grieve
with the concept of death. As he says, I can feel where the fish was in the dust. It is cut up into pieces
or not fish now, not blood on my hands and overalls. Then it wasn t so. It hadn t happened then. And
now she is getting so far ahead I can t catch her (Faulkner 32). This statement shows how Vardaman
sees Addie in his fish because like the fish, it represents his mother being

The Issue Of Racial Healing
Wrong, Wrong! I did not! Excuse me! Those were some essential phrases heard in the debate. The first
presidential debate in 2016 was extremely intense. The debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald
Trump had a little bit of everything. At times both candidates agree but most of the time they disagree.
During the debate both candidates were very stubborn because they did not open up to listen to the
other candidate s perspective. The topics covered by Lester Holt were also very interesting. The three
topics were income inequality, racial healing, and cyber security. The main question I will focus on
will be the question of racial healing. From the question of racial healing Trump strongly believes that
law and order is the best solution to reduce crime. He believes that if we do not have law and order we
will not have a country. Trump believes that African Americans and Hispanics are living in hell since
the streets are very dangerous. You walk down the street, you get shot are some of the words Trump
said in the debate. Mr. Trump believes this is happening because their is many illegal immigrants that
are members of gangs that are out in the streets. He also believes that taking away guns from people
could be a good solution since many African Americans are being killed. Trump firmly believes that
African Americans are let down by politicians and that we need to start a good relationship with time
in order to improve the situation. Mr. Trump believes we need to be

Unification of Italy Dbq Essay example
Unification of Italy: Pros and Cons
After the Congress of Vienna Italy consisted of six separate states. Controversy over whether or not
Italy should be unified stirred up during the mid to late 1800 s. The unification of the Italian states was
an ongoing debate for quite some time. During the years of the debates people found the unification to
be positive change, a negative change, and some had different opinions for their own certain reasons.
Those who agreed that Italy should be unified argued that Italy would not survive in the separated
states, would be vulnerable to invasions, and would ultimately be weaker overall. Giuseppe Mazzini,
an attorney who was exiled from Piedmont and wanted Italy to be unified so that he could ... Show

People believed the diverse social classes and power would not make for a unified country. Count
Camillo Benso di Cavour, a politician from Piedmont Sardinia, said, Active power resides almost
exclusively in the middle class and part of the upper class, both of which have ultraconservative
interests to defend. (DOC 4) Daniele Manin, a politician from Venice, wrote, Peoples who have
different origins and customs should not be forced together, because otherwise civil war will follow
the war of independence. (DOC 6) People against unification felt that bringing the diverse states
together would cause more problems and do more harm than good. There were obvious pros and cons
to the unification if Italy, but some civilians were on the fence. A number of people weren t really for,
but were not against the unification of Italy. Marquis Massimo d Azeglio , a politician from Piedmont,
expressed that both northern and southern states would agree that unity is best in the sense that it
would control foreign domination, but other than that Italy could survive in its separated state. (DOC

Different Types of Communication Devices
Devices
Router
A router is a network device that routes packets to networks other than its own. Routers are almost like
a bridge between networks. Most home use routers to connect their local network (their LAN) to the
Internet (which is a wide area network) with all in one devices with routers, modems and wireless
access points built in.
Routers decide where the best route to a destination is using a file called the routing table , which has
a list of different ways to get to one direction, quantified by the metric, which determines the distance
of the path to travel so the router can efficiently pick the best path to use.

Expenses / Cost
The set up of a wireless network will generally rely on the cost of wireless routers, wireless network
adapters for every device, wireless access points (WAP) spread across the locations and installation
fees. This works out to be more expensive than a wired network.
Relatively cheaper but can be costly depending on the type of wired connections used and installation
fees. However, Ethernet, copper cables and switches are less expensive as opposed to the features
required for a wireless network. Fibre optic cables can be a lot more expensive, but the price of
installation and cable vary based on needs, area of installation and metre coverage.
Installation
Installation of wireless networks are relatively easy they often simply involve playing a wireless
access point in a place where the signal reaches the most areas. In more advanced installations, it is
common to use a radio mapper to determine where the signal does and does not reach, for practicality
and security reasons. The power of the router is important to consider and often can be adjusted on the
software side to suit the

The Structure Of Polypyrrole
The structure of polypyrrole consists of long conjugated polymer backbone as shown in Fig. 1.2b. The
polymer has resonance structures that resemble aromatic or quinoid forms. In this neutral state the
polymer is not conducting and it conducts only when it is oxidised. Polypyrrole is an insulator but its
oxidized derivatives are good conductors. The Conductivity ranges from 2 to 100 S/cm. The charge
associated with the oxidised state is typically delocalised over several units and can form a radical
cation (polaron) or a dication (bipolaron).
Polypyrrole is poorly crystalline, with crystalline regions randomly oriented and the polymer chains
lying with the pyrrole rings coplanar to the surface . Actually polypyrrole obtained so far ... Show

When the polymer is doped partially, islands of conducting material are developed, which are oxidized
sites on the polymer chain. A small percentage of the sites form a network, yielding a small , finite DC
conductivity. Hopping of charge carriers between favourable sites accounts for AC conductivity. Thus
the conductivity is a combination of frequency dependent AC conductivity and DC conductivity. At
higher level of doping, an increase in the network density through the polymer chain results in
elimination of number of isolated sites which give rise to AC conductivity. So at the limit of very high
doping the number of isolated sites is less and the DC conductivity dominates the total conductivity.

  • 2. Character Rank In Society in The Canterbury Tales by Chaucer The Canterbury Tales can be understood as a Chaucerian satire according many readers. Chaucer sets out to deliberately upset the social order present at that time and to mock the faults present in the characters. Although he baffles about the complexity of the characters, Chaucer also praises and condemns characters for their unique qualities. Chaucer further gives us feedback of what actions the characters are taking in their lives. Many of the pilgrims are headed off to Canterbury, to worship the relics of Saint Thomas Becket. Thomas Becket was murdered by his friend King Henry and soon Canterbury became a pilgrimage site for people to pray for their healings. As for Chaucer, he observed both high and lower social class to get a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Line 73) The Knight, according to Chaucer takes the code of chivalry very seriously and straight forth. He based his values on the code of chivalry and doesn t intend to break it. His attire also contributes to why Chaucer thinks highly of him. His clothes are made from a coarse cloth and his coat is rust stained. We can infer that the Knight isn t very wealthy but regardless, when compared to the other characters, he lives the best life of all. The Merchant is a high figure in society because he is a part of the wealthy class. Although he may seem unmoral because being part of the wealthy class, Chaucer s perception is very different. Chaucer believed he was a worthy man because he governed all [his] trade affairs well. (Lines 282 283) Chaucer admires the way the Merchant handles his business, doing what it takes to get his job done. He borrows money and disguises himself well if and never he is in debt. Looking at the Merchant physically, we can see that he has nice things such as his elegant boots [and] Flemish beaver hat. (Lines 272 273) Again, it seems as though he cares immensely over material possession, but he does it to look more sophisticated in his business plans. Even though the Merchant is already classified a member of the higher class, Chaucer also puts him in the higher ranks because of his intelligence in trade and business. Chaucer s principle ... • 3. Online Marketing Strategy For One s Marketing And... Abstract Online marketing has grown into one of the most popular marketing channels in the world today. Many organizations, from the smallest SMEs to the largest sized firms have implemented or are in the process of implementing online marketing strategies. However, there is still a large number of organizations that despite the recent trends, have not adapted or fully embraced the online marketing trend. The purpose of this study is to investigate the various trends in the implementation of online marketing strategies, and the reasons why some companies have not embraced the online marketing trend. This paper will examine the importance of adding online marketing strategy to one s marketing and corporation budget. It will also review the pros and cons of social networking when used as a marketing tool. This paper analyses the web presence of five companies, and afterwards conducts interviews with employees to look at the reasons for the varying online presence. The findings show that generally, companies are on the way to embracing online marketing. The variations come as a result of the nature of the employees and the attitudes of top management on online marketing. Introduction The past decade or so has seen consumers and companies experience new ways in which advertising and marketing have been applied to both new and existing products and services. These changes have especially been encouraged by technological improvement which have led to the increased communication ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a result of SKM s efforts, John Fruehwirth, a principal at Allied Capital, was considering an injection of $20 million worth of mezzanine debt/growth capital in E bar. Fruehwirth was aware of the fact that a restaurant with significant growth opportunity like E bar could either be the next Cheesecake Factory, or flop and take the debt injection along with it. E bar has shown initial success in California, but Allied s investment committee needed to evaluate if this continued success can be applied outside the state. Areas of main concern included if the E bar concept was sufficiently strong to visit and be a nationwide brand or if it had been merely a California concept. And in the case of success, would Allied Capital be able to meet is underwriting standards? Based upon the Black Scholes formula and the financial information provided in this case, it is recommended that a current stock price of $6.18 be used and the warrant agreement be increased to 3.9% of total shares outstanding to yield an IRR of 18%. This report will support and examine E bar s ability in generating the required return on invested capital from Allied Capital and conclude by providing a recommendation on the deal alterations based on Allied Capital s needs. The next section examines AC s due diligence on E bar s growth potentials and the industry it operates in. • 5. Abraham Lincoln Contributions Throughout history there have been numerous Americans who have contributed to the development of America. From the long lists of names, there is always one name that rises above all the others, Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln is commonly known as the one of the nation s greatest president because of his accomplishments and achievements, especially during the civil war. However, even before his presidency, Lincoln had a respectable reputation amongst the people. He was known to defuse the tension between two people through his humor and optimistic view of life. Lincoln s victory in the election of 1860 caused the South to secede from the union, thus creating a costly and bloody war that forever changed America. Although it was one of the worst times in American history, Lincoln remained loyal to the people and was a strong leader throughout his presidency; his contributions to America will never be forgotten. Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in Hardin Country, Kentucky. His parents were Thomas and Nancy Lincoln who raised him with a modest upbringing. At a young age, Lincoln lost his mother to a milk sickness in 1818. Just over a year of his mother s death, his father remarried to Sarah Johnston, a strong and loving woman with whom Abraham had quickly become close to. Due to a land dispute in 1817, the Lincolns were forced to move to Perry County, Indiana. In 1830, they moved again to Macon County, Illinois and then again to Coles County. • 6. Evolution of Human Human evolution is the biological and cultural development of humans. A human is any member of the species Homo sapiens, meaning wise man. Since at least the Upper Paleolithic era, some 40,000 years ago, every human society has devised a creation myth to explain how humans came to be. Creation myths are based on cultural beliefs that have been adopted as a legitimate explanation by a society as to where we came from. The science of paleoanthropology, which also tries to create a narrative about how humans came to be, is deeply technical. Paleoantropology is the science of the evolution of humans, and it is the base of all research in that field. Humans have undergone many different changes during the last hundred million years, and it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Associated with these changes is a gradual reduction in the size of the face and jaws. In early hominines, the face was large and positioned in front of the braincase. As the teeth became smaller and the brain expanded, the face became smaller and its position changed. Thus, the relatively small face of modern humans is located below, rather than in front of, the large, expanded braincase. Evidence of immediate relatives of the human species begins about five million years ago with the Australopithecus genus and leads in to the primitive Homo genus to modern humans. The nature of the human s evolution before that is uncertain, but scientists have hypothesized some ideas. What they do know is that between 7 and 20 million years ago, primitive apelike animals were widely distributed on the African and later on the Eurasian continents. Although many fossil bones and teeth have been found, the way of life of these creatures, and their evolutionary relationships to the living apes and humans, remain matters of strong disagreement among scientists. One of these fossil apes, known as Sivapithecus, appears to share many features with the living Asian great ape and the orangutan, whose direct ancestor it may well be. None of these fossils, however, offers convincing evidence of being on the evolutionary line leading to the hominid family generally. But they do help paint a picture of what early human relatives could have been like. The convincing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Theories Of Motivation And Motivation 2.2 Motivation Kressler (2003, 1 2) defines motivation as a rationale behind human behavior; anyone who has motives is motivated and has reasons and causes for their actions and inaction. Rationale to work is generally a combination of necessity to work, to satisfy individual needs and to avoid frustration. However motivation is highly personal and people react differently to motivational factors. Armstrong (2006, 317) continues that motivation has three dimension; direction that tells what person is trying to do, effort which explains how hard persons is trying and persistence that clarifies how long person keeps on trying. For that rewards like incentives, promotions, praises and appraisals are created. It is how ever argued whether rewards affect to work motivation or just the quality of working life since it is commonly agreed that monetary rewards like bonuses or incentives have only short time effect on human behavior and motivation is a long run matter. Cam eron Pierce (2002, 11) even claimed that money or other high rewards can be harmful or lead to negative motivation if they are frequently used since employees might get used to it and when monetary rewards are being discontinued it can make them do less and more importantly enjoy less of their doing since there is no reward ... Is a website which provides an online forum on which its users express opinions about business. The plaintiffs, the small business owners who asserted that Yelp exactioned or attempted to exaction advertising payments from them by manipulating user reviews and posting negative reviews of their businesses. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To start, we note that there is no allegation that Yelp directly threatened economic harm if the business owners refused to purchase advertising packages from Yelp. While the lack of such express threats does not alone dispose of the extortion claims, see United States v. Marsh, 26 F.3d 1496, 1501 (9th Cir. 1994), it does make the business owners case considerably more difficult. Absent explicit threats of economic harm, the business owners must allege sufficient facts to support the inference, In re Century Aluminum Co. Sec. Litig., 729 F.3d 1104, 1107 (9th Cir. 2013), that Yelp inten[ded] . . . to induce payment through the use of threats or the exploitation of [economic] fears, United States v. Greger, 716 F.2d 1275, 1278 (9th Cir. 1983). Applying this standard, we conclude that the business owners have not alleged sufficient facts to support their claim that Yelp authored negative user reviews of the businesses in question. For these reasons and the reasons explained in Part II.B of this opinion, we conclude that none of the business owners have stated a claim of unlawful conduct on the basis of extortion. We therefore affirm the dismissal of the separate claims of civil extortion and attempted civil extortion, as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Genetically Modified Organisms ( Gmos ) GMO Labeling Virginia L .Burns Jefferson Technical Community College GMO Labeling Introduction Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are living organisms that are artificially manipulated usually in a laboratory through genetic engineering (The Non GMO Project, n.d.). These organisms are practically the combination of plants, animal, bacterial, and viral materials that do not exist in naturally. These experiments that take place in the labs to produce the GMOs can be through artificial mixing or traditional crossbreeding approaches. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the USA there are no restrictions on the labeling of food products; this include the policy on GMOs increasing the chances for consumers purchasing the modified foods unknowingly (Down to earth, n.d.). The Down to Earth organization calls for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to instruct a mandatory labeling of food products as many of the citizens favor labeling and would want to have the right of choice. Another issue that institutes the requirements for labeling of GMO products is safety and health risks (Bain Dandachi, 2014). This concern goes hand in hand with the right of the consumers to have a choice on what to consume. Labeling would ensure that the customers are purchasing what they deem safe and take home what they are not allergic to their health conditions. The branding on the GMO products would exclusively give a consumer the power to control what their families eat as they can deduct how the products were manufactured or processed. Further, the labeling increases empowerment and transparency in the food system that would allow people have a say on what they consume. The next section is going to discuss the major points that surround the testing of GMOs, the reasons why agribusiness are refusing labeling of GMOs, and the health risks and environmental impacts of GMOs. • 11. Kellogg s PEP Commercial Beginning in 1923, Kellogg s, a cereal company in Battle Creek, Michigan, created PEP, a whole wheat cereal. In 1930, it became the first fortified cereal consisting of vitamins B and D. According to Kellogg s official website, it also became the first product to undergo food fortification, or adding of minerals and vitamins, using the spray method (par. 4). Prior to its discontinuation in the late 1970s, the company focused extensively on sponsored advertisement. Kellogg Company partnered with sponsoring radio networks, The Singing Lady and the Howie Wing , to help the food and entertainment industry. Even though PEP cereal is no longer selling, one advertisement during its era of popularity brings up controversial points. Dating back to its early release during the 1930s, the classified ad is of antique value. The photo also features a husband just getting off work, dressed in a suit, putting his arms around his wife, embracing her with a back hug. The wife is wearing typical housewife clothing (heels, cooking apron, dress, and feather duster), returning the back hug with a smile. The picture also features a box of vitamins in the left lower corner, along with the couple s conversation. The study of learned helplessness was first experimented on dogs, and later it was realized that it had the same effects and impacts on humans. The guitars are solely focused on creating a grandiose atmosphere but predominantly rely on walls of sound and swerving rhythms; the halfway point of The Ritual inducing a heavy Emperor influence. The technique may sound one dimensional but it s what imagery is being portrayed by the guitars that command your attention, not how it is portrayed. Finally, a special mention has to go to Léo Isnard s pummelling drumming, which is nothing short of breathtaking throughout this accursed plot. The Great Old Ones have once again breathed further life into the fictional world of H.P Lovecraft as well as mastering their chosen aesthetic of atmospheric black metal. • 15. Essay about Predicting Voting Behavior Predicting Voting Behavior Voting behaviour is increasingly hard to predict because of the variables that ultimately affect it, these being class, gender, age, ethnicity and regional locality. It is the job of a political scientist to weigh up these factors along with public opinion on major and current issues such as the Health Service, Crime etc. In addition to these they will look at past elections and their statistics to determine the possible result of an imminent election. Research in the 1950 s and 60 s in Britain and the USA indicates that all the factors that might contribute to a persons voting behaviour such as religion, gender, age and regional locality; social class was by far ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However this was put under massive dispute throughout the sixties and early seventies until nineteen seventy nine where the conservatives were found to have major success in the general elections because of high amounts of working class votes and the theory was suggested correct. Whatever the reasons the Conservatives won the working class vote the theory did not account for the drop in middle class voters. Ultimately unless the parties fall into a trend whereby one is totally right wing and the other left wing it will be very hard to predict or stereotype people to a political party just because of their class or position in society. Gender is out of the five categories, the most hard to base any conclusions from since the nineteen ninety seven elections. This is because from the statistics there is very little gender differences in party choice. Previously gender was attributed for one of the reasons for party choice; the majority of women voting in the UK in the four elections between nineteen seventy nine and nineteen ninety two voted Conservative than they did for any other party. This is slightly ironic because the Conservative party was in fact the worst represented in terms of female MP s out of the major forerunners being Labour and The Liberal Democrats. • 16. Sigmund Freud s Psychodynamic Theory Sigmund Freud s psychodynamic theory can be described as a view that explains personality in terms of conscious and unconscious forces such as unconscious desires and beliefs (Chegg Study). Sigmund Freud developed this theory in the early 20th century based on the assumption that our unconscious desires influence many of our actions in our everyday lives (McLeod 2009). In addition, another assumption of Freud s that contributed to this theory was that our childhood experiences influence us greatly and make us into the person we are today. Freud proposed the psychodynamic theory according to which personality consisted of the Id, the super ego and the ego (McLeod 2009). The Id is the pleasure principle concerned with instincts and pleasure and operates by primary processes which thereby, does not take into account the reality principle (McLeod 2009). For example, if you were extremely thirsty; instead of going to buy a bottle of water or refilling your own bottle, you would drink from someone else s water bottle without their permission and without them knowing. This example demonstrates how the Id principle operates without taking into account what is socially acceptable in order to satisfy a need. The ego is the reality principle which not only operates by secondary processes concerned with reason and logic, but also mediates between the Id and super ego according to reality (McLeod 2009). For example, in the same scenario, instead of drinking from someone else s water ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Society In The French Society Of The 14th Century Intro, The French society of the 14th Century was very hierarchal and had a strict structure of people at the top, the Royal House of Capet/ Valois, and the peasants at the bottom, this is called Feudalism. Religion was a big part of society in the 14th Century and really until the French Revolution, France was a very strong Catholic nation. France s like most of Europe at the time had a very agricultural economy. The 14th Century was a time of turmoil, diminished expectations, loss of confidence in institutions, and feelings of helplessness at forces beyond human control This is how the 14th century is described, this is due to the amount of changes the whole of Europe went through, from changing borders, natural disasters, and social unrest. Black Death, The Black death is described by Gottfried as being the Greatest natural disaster in European history. Philip Daileader estimates 45% 50% of the population of Europe dead while Ole Benedictow has 60%, and as the population of all of Europe was 80 million, that is 50 million people, however Philp Ziegler says that figures during the middle ages are hazardous as people did not keep a complete record, but around a third of Europe died. These figures, although they are for all of Europe shows that the Black Death played a dramatic part in French society as many of those would haven been peasants who worked the land. In parts of France they blamed the English for spreading the plague, due to the ongoing war between the two nations, this caused further tension between the two countries. The Plague first struck Europe in 1347 while France and England were at war this allowed the plague to spread more quickly. The famine that had started in 1333 had ended recently which meant crop production and the reverse of grain had not yet recovered causing more deaths. The economy for most countries had started to become crippled as they lost a lot of people who worked the land, however most countries the wages of workers improved as landowners needed people to work the land, labour became more mobile as people moved to where the conditions were more favourable . Moreover, parents have decided that the opportune way of reaching their ambitions is through the lives of their children. Under this strict lifestyle, one would presume that our values are very conservative. Surprisingly, the opposite is true. Due to the sexual and violent permissiveness in today s Multi Media, our society has developed a sordid standard of morals. Sex is often considered to be taboo among families. Media boardrooms have become corporate playgrounds which consistently intensify the raciness of its images and videos to maintain the shock value of sex. Consequently, all forms of sex have become increasingly acceptable. It is no longer considered taboo to perform sexual acts soon after meeting an individual. Sex was once restricted to married couples, but even pre teenage children have lost their innocence. Due to its unspoken nature within families, parents are often unaware of their child s/children s sexual activity. Only exposed to the attractive side of sex conveyed by the media, children do not receive appropriate education, resulting in teenage pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. The saturation of sexual messages by the media would lead an outsider to believe that we are very permissive of sexual behaviour, yet the very opposite is taught at the family level. Violence in society has suffered a similar fate. We are taught from a very young age that violence is wrong. We are all aware that instead of hitting people, we should resolve our problems through conversation, violence is never the answer. The long and strange journey to Jefferson County, Mississippi to bury their mothers body seems to undertake the family together. Faulkners technique throughout his story presents individual sections of the characters throughout their thoughts, perspectives or the events taking place throughout the novel. You can see all the family members and characters have different characteristics of their identity. This idea can be seen as grotesque and the death of their mother inspires several questions about the character s existence and identity and they all seem to encounter the death of their mother uniquely. Each member of the family has a difficult time understanding death and react to it differently. Throughout the Bundren s experience, we see that Varadman is obsessing over a fish he caught shortly after his mother s death. Vardaman, who is the youngest does not yet seem to understand or grieve with the concept of death. As he says, I can feel where the fish was in the dust. It is cut up into pieces or not fish now, not blood on my hands and overalls. Then it wasn t so. It hadn t happened then. And now she is getting so far ahead I can t catch her (Faulkner 32). Polypyrrole is an insulator but its oxidized derivatives are good conductors. The Conductivity ranges from 2 to 100 S/cm. Thus the conductivity is a combination of frequency dependent AC conductivity and DC conductivity. At higher level of doping, an increase in the network density through the polymer chain results in elimination of number of isolated sites which give rise to AC conductivity. So at the limit of very high doping the number of isolated sites is less and the DC conductivity dominates the total conductivity. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
