In the last ten years, airline industries have suffered due to the horrible economic recession and
unsustainable fuel prices, which is the major threat to the airline industry. The airline industry
heavily relies on fuel prices; therefore, high priced fuel scares existing airline industries and

The Effects Of Explosion Exposure On Central Auditory...
The health effects following exposure to blast impact are a growing concern in the United States,
especially in the military population. The United State s involvement in warfare in recent years
has led to many unseen developments not only psychologically but also physically in the service
men and women returning home. Technological changes in current years have allowed for the
development of various types of lethal weaponry, such as with high intensity explosive devices.
Improvised explosive devices, known as IEDs have largely been used in recent wars in Iraq and
Afghanistan. The use of IEDs in combat has led to debilitating losses and handicaps experienced by
some of our military personnel, including traumatic brain injury (TBI). The... Show more content on

One of the breakthrough studies (Gallun et al., 2012) tested 36 blast exposed and 29 non blast
exposed participants. Participants were tested on batteries of behavioral and physical tests
whose scores can demonstrate a connection to problems with central auditory processing (Gallun
et al., 2012). The purpose of the study was to see if participants with blast exposure performed
worse on these tests than participants without blast exposure, especially with hearing in complex
auditory environments and speech in noise types of measures (Gallun et al., 2012). The blast
exposure group included veterans seeking treatment at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center
post Iraq War. They identified as having exposure to a high intensity blast at least once within the
past year. They were excluded from the study if they had any TBI higher than the moderate
diagnosis, and were also excluded if they had a hearing loss over 50 dB HL. Subjects without
blast exposure were also recruited for the study and were tested at the National Center for
Rehabilitative Auditory Research in Portland. These subjects data were used as a baseline
comparison to obtain data reflecting the general population that has been unaffected by blast
exposure. The non blast exposure group was recruited into the study based on similar age and
hearing capabilities as those with blast exposure. Participants from both groups underwent

Literary Analysis Of The Devil In The White City
Aditya Krishna
G. Richey
Honors World History
4 December 2017
The Devil in the White City is a literary nonfiction novel that spans the years surrounding the
building of the 1893 Chicago World s Fair, also known as The World s Columbian Exposition,
which was designed to commemorate the landing of Columbus in America. This nonlinear novel
is divided into four parts with the first three parts of the novel primarily taking place in Chicago
between the years 1890 1893. However, Part IV of the novel takes the reader to Philadelphia circa
1895. In The Devil in the White City, author Erik Larson uses extensive research to recreate the
lives of two real men and to reinvent Chicago during the World s Columbian Exposition. In the
process, he creates two separate, yet connected plot lines and attempts to fill in some of the gaps
left by history. One plot line centers on Daniel Burnham, the architect who builds the 1893
Chicago World s Fair. The other plot line focuses on character H.H. Holmes, the serial killer who
exploits the fair to find his victims.
The story of Daniel Burnham, his building of the fair, and the struggles he overcomes in order to
make the enterprise a success from one plot line. This sequence of events begins in 1890, when
Chicago wins the bid for the 1893 World s Exposition. Daniel Burnham and his then partner, John
Root, are given the honor of being the architects who build the fair and consequently, a more
positive global reputation for Chicago. Throughout the

My Passion For Law
Ever since I can remember I ve had a passion for law. I would sit in front of the television for
hours watching reruns of any show that had to do with that aspect. I would take out my notebook
as if it were a class and write any single detail to study. One of the professions that really stood out
to me was the lawyers. The thought of being able to help someone while also punishing those who
broke the law was fulfilling to me.
To become a lawyer it requires attending college. A bachelor degree is needed and takes about
four years to obtain. Next, is taking the LSAT also known as the Law School Admission Test. After
doing so you must proceed to attend law school. A minimum of three is required to earn your Juris
Doctor degree. Finally, it is essential to take the state bar exam in order to legally practice law.
However, when taking the exam and passing only means you can practice law according to the
state you took the test in. An outstanding college to attend when wanting to become a lawyer is
Yale which was ranked the number one law school in the United States. Harvard and Stanford
were also highly ranked and recommended schools. Yet in New Jersey, Rutgers and Seton Hall
take the title. One skill that would need is to collaborate with others as a team to in the end be
successful. Another skill is time management, we need to prepare and be ready for a given date.
Next, is taking into account crucial evidence and information because you be sure you re focusing

AASB 117 Term Paper
Lease is defined as an agreement where lessors promised to convey the right to use the asset for
an agreed period of time to lessees in return for a sum of payment as in AASB 117 paragraph 4.
Leases can be classified as either finance or operating lease based on the economic substance of the
agreement.
A.FINANCE LEASES
As in AASB 117 s definition, a finance lease is a lease that effectively transfer substantially all of
the risk and benefits incidental to the ownership of the leased item that are capitalised at the present
value of the minimum lease payments under the lease and are disclosed as an asset or investment

A lease other than a finance lease is an operating lease. Generally, the minimum lease payments of
operating leases are recognised as an expense financial reporting.
Note 29, which deals with lease commitments, represents the operation lease receivables and
operating lease payables. Future minimum rental revenues under non cancellable operating retail
property lease is 4654.7 million, increased from 3242.3 million in 2013. The difference stands for a
43.5% increase based on 2013 figure.
Also in note 29, operating lease payable is 112.9 million, a 32.4 million increase compare to
2013, which is 40.2% of 80.5 million in 2013.
In 2014, the operating lease receivable due within one year is 694.2 million, 28.9% growth
based on 2013 s amount. While total current asset of the Group of 2014 is 1119.5 million, the
operating lease receivable counts for more than half of its current asset. This explains it that the
business is focusing on retail shopping centres, all the property owned and leased by the Group is
leased to third party retailer for profits. Therefore, the growth in operating lease receivable reflects
that the business is growing. It could be a result from the merge

Are you worried about a small flap of skin which has been growing on your neck or armpit?
These extensions of flesh are called skin tags. Many people are there who are not quite aware of
the term skin tags , however, this is a common phenomenon. Flaps of tissues which protrudes
from the surface of the skin are called skin tags and are usually present around the eyelids,
armpits or neck. These skin tags which hang off the skin have different sizes, with the help of a

The flow of blood into and out of the skin tag will be stopped by this procedure resulting it to
disappear in a few days. Since it is almost impossible for the person who suffers from anal skin tag
to get a proper view of this part of the skin, thus, a friend s help or a family member s help is
necessary.
It is to be noted that despite of using all these methods for removing rectal tags, be it cosmetic
procedure or home remedies, it is very important to maintain proper hygiene without which these
skin anal tags might get infected.
Are anal tags the cause of any health complications?
No, as already mentioned above anal tags are harmless, but if they get ruptured from anal
intercourse or by passing a hard stool, they can get infected which can further lead to lots of health
complications. Although they are not contagious but if they gets inflamed, or gets injured they can
take serious shapes.
Anal tags are not risky to health but causes problems in maintaining cleanliness. Skin tags by
trapping moistures causes irritation. You must visit a doctor for your anal tags in order to be
ensured that they are harmless and are not malignant. If your anal skin tags don t indicate any other
medical condition, they are not harmful in

The Stigma Of Receiving Therapy For Mental Illness
One of the most difficult aspects of treating patients who suffer from trichotillomania (TTM),
commonly called hair pulling disorder, is that most prefer to remain invisible. They are creative at
finding ways to hide their illness. Most cover up with head scarves, hats, hoodies, and carry on as
if nothing is wrong.Treatment for TTM is accessible through the NHS, yet the stigma of receiving
therapy for mental illness is still strong enough to keep many patients with TTM away from
psychologists, even when they have suffered significant hair loss. The key to eliminating this
stigma is education and transparency. In order to better understanding of this impulse disorder, it is
important to look closely at the causes, symptoms, and behaviors. Once these are understood,
working with a psychologist to plan effective treatment becomes as easy as walking into their
practice. Here are the basics about trichotillomania, and how a psychologist can help with finding
the right treatment.
What is Trichotillomania (TTM)?
TTM is a psychological disorder identified as an impulse control disorder. Contrary to popular
belief, TTM is not a form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). The two disorders can
coexist due to their shared irresistible urges, though they are diagnosed separately and treated
separately. TTM also bears a close resemblance to Compulsive Skin Picking, though this is also
considered a separate disorder with different diagnosis and treatment options.

Gothic Sculpture And Gothic Art
The Gothic Sculpture had not been only a design of art but an exceptionally influential period
formulated with its own intricate history. The word is utilized to spell it out buildings and items
whose varieties are based after a variety of characteristics from the 12th to the end of the 15th
century. Gothic style was a development of the Romanesque yet it was Renaissance humanists who
first used it as a disparaging term to spell it out what they noticed as the barbaric structures. With
Gothic sculpture being seen through a wide variety of perspectives it is regarded as very difficult
to appropriately specify what Gothic means in postmodern contemporary society today. It provided

There is merely a different feeling in the Gothic architecture gives and overwhelming feeling of
mysticism, the prominent philosophical and religious activity. The Gothic period was the right time
of advancements in architecture like the pointed arch, the rib vault, and the flying buttress. Also,
stained goblet windows were a lovely way expressing their beliefs within an architectural way.
The Romanesque period was an age group of new and experimental structures. One advancement in
construction was the shift to all stone structure that replaced the timber ceilings that caused many
churches to burn down. One experimental architectural style was the utilization of rock barrel and
groin vaults in the first Romanesque chapel. The stone vaulting allow architects build on a more
substantial scale than before. The Gothic style surfaced out of architectural design of the
Romanesque cathedrals.
The directed arch was their first technology that removed the uncomfortable look of disproportional
arches at the attributes of the Romanesque cathedrals. The directed arch also aimed the weight of
the vault downward to help support the substantial ceilings. The next advancement of the Gothic
architects solved problems of the Romanesque period. The Romanesque cathedrals possessed thick
surfaces that gave the sensation of confinement, and their substantial arches seemed unwell
proportioned with their small home

Elasticity In The Miller s Tale By Geoffrey Chaucer
Henri Bergson s theory states that tension and elasticity are required in social life to adapt to the
ever changing situations. Someone who is severely deficient in elasticity and tension will be
denied access to society either by isolation or hospitalization. For someone that is slightly
deficient or has a minor slip in elasticity or tension, the penalty will be laughter. According to
Henri Bergson, the perception of mechanical inelasticity engenders laughter and is the basis of
the comic. This inelasticity is clearly demonstrated in The Miller s tale by Geoffrey Chaucer with
John and Absalon being the main targets of the ridicule, Nicholas becomes a target towards the
end of the tale. Chaucer s characterization of those personages attitudes and behavior support
Bergson s theory of mechanical inelasticity. First of all, John the carpenter, during the whole story,
is a victim of the ridicule. He is so well played by Nicholas, who has a gift for telling people what
they want to hear and manipulate them, that John will do everything that Nicholas asks of him.

Absalon after being ridiculed by Alison finally adapts to the situation and loses his mechanical
inelasticity. According to Bergson s theory, he is no longer the target of the ridicule. He
borrows a dagger that is still hot. He comes again to Alison s window to try again and get a kiss
so that he can burn her with the dagger. Nicholas who thinks he can ridicule Absalon even more
by doing the same thing gets burned by him. Nicholas for the first time lacks awareness and fails
to adapt and is therefore rigid. Because of this, he is now the victim of the ridicule. Absalon
however, gains elasticity and he adapts, making him the one who brings the ridicule on

Political Pawn
Even as a princess, things are not perfect in my life. This is certainly true as of late. Things have
been taking a turn for the worse, and I wonder if it can possibly bounce back before it is too late.
I have been living this royal lifestyle for awhile now and it is elegant, but it has its twists; I feel
like I am being used as a political pawn, and the plague is getting worse. I feel as if I am being
used as a political pawn. I am told who to support, what to do, and who to peruse. Although I am
able to do a lot more as royalty, it seems I am not completely free. My male counterparts still
seem to have the upper hand in terms of choice. I am told to go after specific men in other
kingdoms in order to expand the kings alliances and expand his rule. I see other women getting
into marriages and being very unhappy about them after some time. They tell me that they feel
as if they are being used as pawns as well, or as mere vessels to continue the lineage of their
husbands. I might not have to worry about having a happy future at all, I may only need to worry
about having a future in the first place if things don t turn around quickly. The disease has been
getting worse, but up to this point I had been protected decently. At first I had been protected by

Martin Scorsese s The Departed Essays
The Departed, a film written by William Monahan, Alan Mak, and Felix Chong, directed by
Martin Scorsese, was in my opinion a spectacular crime thriller deserving of less criticism from
overly sentimental viewers. Though this film is in some scenes brutal and vicious, I praise Martin
Scorsese s refusal to cower away from the undeniable truth that organized crime in the United
States is murderous in nature just to satisfy certain viewers as critics advocated he should. Being a
four time Oscar winning film with sixty three other awards for numerous aspects in the movie
industry, I don t believe anyone can contradict that The Departed is profoundly unforgettable to

All of the characters presented in the movie have a distinct personality, making the viewer
engage deeply in the heart pumping action and drama. But the actor is nothing without the
writer, and not by any means is The Departed lacking in storyline. As you watch The Departed,
Colin Sullivan (Damon) and Billy Costigan s (DiCaprio) storylines become increasingly in depth
and intertwined. Starting when Colin Sullivan is just a child and his encounter with Frank
Costello s mentorship, the story then fast forwards to Costigan and Colin working their way
through police training and eventually amounting to Costigan undercover and Colin as a
detective. The side by side comparison of their lives adds to distinct feelings about the
characters. The two rats continually work against each other and narrowly miss seeing each
other s faces, even dating the same girl, Madolyn (Verna Farmiga). This suspense draws
watchers to the edge of their seats with anticipation for the conclusion of the movie. Phenomenal
Acting and a jaw dropping storyline are the foremost reasons why The Departed is by all means
a spectacular movie. This film will go down as one of the best crime thrillers of the 21th century.

making twists and turns never expected. Some may question the vulgar language and intense
violence but if you are a person who s easily offended, simply do

2.0 Basic Concepts of Activity theory
Activity theory has three concepts or principles. The first principle of Activity theory relates to all
humans directed toward their objects, called objectiveness . A task performed because of an object.
Objects focus on the outcome and the primary motivation. The second principle of Activity theory
is the hierarchical structure consisting of our actions. Different, decisive actions are performed to
obtain distinct goals. A hierarchy of actions are determined by our subconscious and automatic
processes. They are not permanent actions, but constantly changing as reality changes. Additionally,
development is the third concept of Activity theory. Activity theory requires the context of
development and human interaction be analyzed. This human interaction development constantly

Arnold s Dover Beach
English 201

Doubt on Dover Beach:
An Exploration of the Loss of Faith in the Victorian Era The Victorian age is marked by the sudden
and startling changes it brought on the western world. As industrialization, intense colonization, and
expanding practices of sciences abounded, the traditional ideas and ideals that had once seemed
constant and true, were suddenly precarious. Matthew Arnold s Dover Beach has become
quintessential to the Victorian literary canon as it is exactly this struggle with a loss of constancy
and the confrontation with the unknown and uncertainty that Arnold evokes within its lines. Dover
Beach explores the potential effects of these sudden shifts in culture; particularly the shift towards
scientific exploration and the threat this shift had on notions of Christianity and faith. The poem
acts as a grand sweeping metaphor for the ideas of constancy and doubt as it lures the reader into a
sense of permanence and complacency before undermining that sense by contradicting itself and
implementing mistrust; ultimately it leaves the reader with a sense that since faith is not eternal,
nothing is. This metaphor is enhanced and nuanced through Arnold s interesting use of structure
and sudden shifts in tone. The first stanza of Dover Beach consists of fourteen lines in iambic meter
(though not iambic pentameter) with varying lengths and features a seemingly random rhyme
structure of:

Your practitioner will inject a necessary amount of Juvederm XC into targeted areas of the skin
layer below facial wrinkles. He/she will specifically target the epithelial tissue of the skin layer,
which promotes keratinocyte proliferation and in turn creates higher levels of retinoic acid.
Retinoic acid is a key ingredient for sky hydration and overall skin health. The process will then in
turn create new collagen, which is an important part of the skin s developmental matrix. In the end,
the process will plump the wrinkled areas of the face, thus smoothing the skin and maintaining a

The Issue Of Credit Cards
Ever since man first walked on earth, goods and services were traded throughout the world.
Individuals needed a way to buy these goods and services. Before the Apple Pay , Samsung Pay
, and all the other new technological advancements, there were goods and services, bartering,
animals, food, exchange and agreements for work (Yahoo). As time went by, we started to see
the evolution of the coins which lead to the invention of the paper currency or cash. With the
advancement in paper currency, individuals needed a place to store the large amounts of money
while also keeping their money safe from harm. This caused the establishment of banks all
around the world. These banks weren t that safe as it is today, but what other choice did
individuals have in protecting their money. As time went on, individuals needed a way to get
money fast and stress free. Credit cards came in as a solution to that problem. On the positive
side, credit cards are a way for individuals to keep their money safe; the advancement in
technology helps credit cards become more and more intelligent and safe, and they prevent the
individuals from losing their cash or having it stolen. But on the negative side, technology has its
dangers that make the utilization of credit cards problematic, such as: careless spending, theft, and
scams are some of the ways individuals lose money or land in credit carddebt. Finally, the

and cabin boy Richard Parker (17). While crossing the South Atlantic near the Cape of Good
Hope in July, bad weather struck the yacht and it sunk. The men managed to escape into the
lifeboat, and two one pound tins of turnips were the only food they subsisted on for four days.
They caught a small turtle on the fourth day that lasted eight days, and were without food for
another eight days after. The only fresh water they had was the rain that came from time to time.
On the sixteenth day of drifting Richard Parker became ill from drinking seawater. On the
eighteenth day Dudley and Stephens approached Brooks with the idea that they should sacrifice
one person to save the rest. Brooks dissented, and they did not consult Parker as he was ill. On
July 24th Dudley and Stephens reasoned with Brooks, saying that since they had families to
take care of it was most logical to kill the boy and save themselves. They proposed that if there were
no vessels in sight the next day they would kill Parker. As there were no vessels, Dudley killed
Parker by slitting his throat; the boy was so ill he did not resist. Brooks dissented until Parker s
death, but also fed on the blood and flesh of Parker with the two accused for four days.

Deliberative Democracy In Canada
According to Joshua Cohen (1997), deliberative democracy is the framework of social and
institutional conditions that facilitate free discussion among equal citizens, by providing favorable
conditions for participations, association...(p. 412) Deliberative democracy a term that is just
recently coming to light of different communities and countries throughout the globe. Deliberative
democracy is many things, it allows for development of new ideas, while establishing long lasting
results. It is localism. Localism is how people from the surrounding area come together to discuss
and change the future of a certain part of their community. One example of this is in the video that
as played in class. The community in Canada saw that mental health was a serious issue between
themselves and other members. To combat this problem they formed a collective to help set a
foundation for the future, to provide support and an overall health plan. People from the community

The long term result allows for an overall satisfaction. As we see now in America, the
government is or are not passing laws that directly affect us for the better as thought by a
number of individuals. It can not be expected that a senate, or house will able to accurately and
effectively represent such a large population of diversity that America holds or even a small
population as some states have. However, one misconception that can be a challenge is that
deliberation of democracy is thought to only by advantageous when applied within a small
group. However, large scale deliberative democracy can effectively be done. One example of
this is in the UK, small groups of randomly chosen citizens came together as in a jury to
deliberate on an issue. While not every one s voice in the UK was being heard. The people, the
average citizen s role in government has begun to take

Review Of The Moro War By James Arnold
The Moro War: How America Battled a Muslim Insurgency in the Philippine Jungle, 1902 1913
by James Arnold gives a Non Fiction, historical and graphic depiction of the decade long Muslim
insurgency in Moroland. James Arnold provides several parallels to insurgencies of the 21st
century. Initially, this book seemed to have provide too much specific information concerning
American Army officers and soldiers, but James Arnold brought relevancy to the characters and
their backgrounds. His description of Moro warriors is a frightening image of unpredictable
savage people. Anyone who is required to work in a counterinsurgency or counterterrorism
environment should read this book. Fishes live in the sea where big fish eat the little fish as
men do on land: Sulu proverb (Arnold, 2011). The Moro War tells the story of American
occupation in the Philippines. During the first part of the book, the author focuses on General
Leonard Wood who was the first governor of Zamboanga. James Arnold s gives a detailed
description of the landscape of Mindanao, Palawan, Basilian, and the archipelago. He gives a good
description of the rivers and valley with multiple layered vegetation, mangroves and dense jungle.

The Cardiac Cycle
To keep the blood moving around the body supplying vital nutrients to cells and removing waste,
a cycle of contractions (systole) and relaxations (diastole) take place, this cycle is known as the
cardiac cycle. There are three stages to the cardiac cycle, all stages happen during one heartbeat
(cycle) and take less than a second in total (Revisionworld.com, 2017), these different stages are
pictured in figure 11.
During stage one the pressure in both ventricles decreases as they relax, the atrioventricular valves
open slightly and blood is pumped through them due to a contraction of the atria. Blood is
prevented from flowing backwards as the valves of the vena cava and pulmonary vein close. During
stage two pressure in the ventricles increases

Power Of Music
Never Underestimate the Power of Music
Wait, what; no phone, no Instagram, no social media? What teenager wants to attend a class trip
with no access to the social world they have grown dependent on? Each year, the junior class at
Bayside Academy embarks on a trip to Pine Mountain, Kentucky, with one rule rising above all
others; NO cell phones. Once the school year starts, planning begins for the Junior class trip, with
the emphasis of the trip focused on promoting camaraderie and creating a closeness between
classmates. Needless to say, I didn t share excitement in planning the trip, as I detested the thought

Musicians from our grade played the background music of the song, making it even more special
to each of us. After a few days, practicing the class song became a time we all looked forward to,
whereas, in the beginning it was a chore. Each time we sang, the excitement grew in each of us, as
we were determined to be prepared for Christmas Together. Practice after practice, we struggled to
recite each line correctly, concurrently working to harmonize and sway to the tune. The time spent
practicing Brother built a strong bond between our class; something I did not notice until the
completion of the trip.
As the trip came to an end, our arrival time approached. Our class decided to sing Brother one last
time before leaving Pine Mountain, in appreciation of the place that showed us how much we
truly meant to one another. On the bus ride home, positive comments floated around about how
amazing the trip had been and how enjoyable all the activities were. Everyone came to the
conclusion that the best part of the week was the time spent singing together. After a nine hour bus
ride, we arrived back at Bayside, just in time for Christmas Together. The time had come to get on
stage and share the story of Brother with our school. Immediately after the tremendous
performance, applause filled the building. I felt a sense of joy at the appreciation of our
performance, as the song meant so much to me personally. Shortly after

Today, HRM is a strategic partner within the organization. It is a process in which HRM works
with the organization to assess their goals and objectives, hire, and retain the best employees to
attain those outlined goals and objectives. HR managers overcome challenges by sustaining a well

difficult situations pertaining to the workforce as they arise. This change has allowed HRM to
enhance its relationship from merely just a staffing entity to an integral partner within the
organization ensuring its success.
Technology has revolutionized and transformed the world or HRM. By utilizing human resource

History of Modern Psychology Essay
A History of Modern Psychology

A History of Modern Psychology The history of psychology is in infancy at the present time. Many
philosophers can be credited to the development of this science. Starting in the early 18th and 19th
centuries philosophers such as Rene Descartes and John Locke opened the world of what we know
as psychology today. The British empiricists also contributed to psychology. Some of these men
include David Hume and David Hartley.
Psychology has a long past, yet its real history is short. Hermann Ebbinghaus 1908

John Locke (1632 1704), George Berkeley (1685 1753), David Hume (1711 1776) and David
Hartley (1705 1757).
Locke s views on how knowledge is gained and how humans understand the world was the
beginning of associatism. Though Locke did not mature the doctrines of associatism he was
involved with its infancy. Locke s views on child education are linked with twentieth century
behaviorism.
Berkeley s focus was on analysis of sensory perceptions. Berkeley also believed that human
perceptions are judgments dependent on experience. David Robinson a historian of psychology
stated, Berkeley rendered epistemology a branch of psychology, and the two have never been
divorced since (1981, p. 228).
Like Berkeley David Hume also believed that understanding is rooted to experience. Hume
developed the three laws of association: resemblance, contiguity and cause/effect. Resemblance is
an object reminds and individual of another object or thing through similarity. Contiguity means
experiencing things together. Cause and effect is

Brushless Coils
While marking up the costs of the drone, our team realized that it would be cost effective to
make the parts of our drone ourselves, instead of sourcing them from outside retailers. The
prices listed are the market value of the parts we need if we were to purchase them. The total
cost will be more than what we anticipate it will cost to create our drone. Brushless motors
Brushless motors are a bit similar to normal DC motors in the way that coils and magnets are
used to drive the shaft. Though the brushless motors do not have a brush on the shaft which
takes care of switching the power direction in the coils, and this is why they are called brushless.
Instead the brushless motors have three coils on the inner (center) of the motor, which is fixed
to the mounting. On the outer side it contains a number of magnets mounted to a cylinder that is
attached to the rotating shaft. So the coils are fixed which means wires can go directly to them
and therefor there is no need for a brush. The reason why QuadCopters use brushless motors
instead of normal DC motors is the much higher speeds and less power usage for the same speed.
The brushless motors are more efficient as there is no power lost as there is in the brush transition
on the DC motors. Usually rated with a KV rating (revolutions per volt). This is not equivalent to
torque, but lower KV motors are usually used for larger... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Marketing Strategy Of Whirlpool Corporation
In the United States, the cooking industry is a mature market with high penetration, therefore,
replacement product is significantly important to the industry. The United States has three major
manufacturers for domestic production; Whirlpool, General Electric, and Electrolux. The appliance
industry is changing and become more competitive with the influence of Asian competitors,
specifically, LG and Samsung is importing appliances into the United States. Subsequently, in
January 2016, a Chinese manufacturer, Haier, bid for the purchase of General Electric Appliances,
finalizing the contract, Monday, June 6, 2016 (Thompson, 2016).
Whirlpool Corporation is the largest global manufacturer of home appliances (Innovation at the

all markets, as they do in North America. In North America, Whirlpool s strength lies in a strong
and vast brand portfolio, consisting of seven brands (Fettig, 2016). In 2006, the United States
Department of Justice approved the acquisition of Maytag Corporation by Whirlpool (Henriques,
2006). The acquisition served a two fold purpose, seating Whirlpool in the number one market share
position in North America and adding strong brands such as Maytag, Jenn Air, and Amana to the

Analysis Of Franklin Delano Roosevelt Signed Into Law
Following his election in 1933, Franklin Delano Roosevelt signed into law something radical for
its time: The Social Security Act. This act changed America s economic landscape completely, by
minimizing the long existing problem of retirees and the elderly living below the poverty line.
Simply put, Social Securityis a way to guarantee that older people, namely retirees, have at least a
minimal source of income in their later years, by providing around 40 percent of the average
person s yearly income. Social Security both is and functions as a defined benefit plan, wherein
benefits are decided by the amount of quarters than a person works, and are decided by a sliding
scale with caps (United States). As directed by the sliding scale, per dollar benefits are much
higher for people of lower incomes, while overall benefit amounts are higher for those of higher
incomes (Benefit). Both the scale and the caps are adjusted yearly according to inflation. Social
Security accumulates its funds into a trust fund, and puts excess money into investments in US
Treasury Securities, where interest is accumulated and put back into the fund. Social Security s
benefits are not affected by the investments. Since 1982, the Social Security trust fund has
experienced a net increase and in 2015, the asset reserves sit at 2.8 trillion dollars (Financial).
Despite this, the misinformed often point their fingers at the trust fund and claim that it is on its
last leg, and will soon run out. Every few

During an UN Commission meeting in 1983, Norwegian Prime Minister Brundtland came to
express a stand amongst the most thorough meanings of sustainability: helping the present without
trading off the capability of future eras to help s (WCED Report, 1987).
From that point on wards, subjects identified with sustainability multiplied and passed past the
macro level by likewise embracing mezzo and micro levels as unit of investigation. To express
this all this in detail, a macro point of view reflects a group level perspective, while a mezzo
point of view embraces organisation and focuses on organization level focus plan, and a micro
viewpoint analyses an individual s level of study and research on a certain topic. In this structure,
the issue ends up being an open deliberation of giving sustainability to the group, to the
organisations ( business endeavour being one of them) and to the people .
Analysis on Monitoring System:
Monitoring system plays a huge role in sustainability attainment. Indicators play a significant part in

Theu.s. Invasion Of Grenada
The U.S. invasion of Grenada was the first major U.S. military operation ever since the end of the
Vietnam War. Undeniably, many have concluded that it may have in part been an assessment of
the purported Vietnam syndrome, the alleged condition that makes it problematic for the
American public to support U.S. military interference deprived of a just cause. As with Iraq, the
early defences for the invasion proved to be either extremely debatable or obviously false, hitherto
it still received bipartisan support in Congress and the approval of nearly two thirds of the
American public. The invasion of Grenadaby the U.S was very unusual compared to other 20th
century wars. It was by far the easiest, shortest and most successful invasion for the United States
during the 20th century period. The United States intervention in Grenada has been characterised
by some as a rescue mission, by others an act of aggression. Therefore the purpose of this essay
is to analyse and examine the reasons and causes behind the U.S. led invasion into Grenada during
the latter part of 1983, as well as the consequences faced by both the United States government and
the people of Grenada. The Grenada Invasion also Codenamed Operation Urgent Fury, was the
U.S. decision to invade Grenada after the overthrow and subsequent killing of the Grenadian
President Maurice Bishop evoked widespread criticism from several different outlets (Green, 2013).

Persuasive Essay On The Intolerable Acts
We are tired of having our voices silenced and being punished for our harmless actions. We acted in
defiance and in turn we had soldiers placed in our homes, taxes imposed and the removal of our
charter. We should be able to speak freely without persecution. As shown by the Intolerable Acts, we
cannot show our dissatisfaction and speak our minds using action without limitations imposed by
the Motherland. Why continue to be punished and limited when we do not even have
representation in the governmentthat leads us? We need to show the motherland that their
restrictions are an overreaction to our harmless acts and revolt against our cruel leaders. We had
soldiers placed in our homes as part of the Intolerance Acts. We were punished for dumping tea into
Boston Harbor. An act for punishing mutiny and desertion, and for the better payment of the army
and their quarters... forces us to house and provide resources for soldiers. That mutiny being us
throwing tea into the harbor in rebellion for the cruel monopolization and taxation of all tea we
purchase. The so called Quartering Act placing soldiers in our homes was decided upon none other
than ...the present session of parliament... that we are not represented in.
Placing soldiers in our homes is worse enough, but furnishing them with fire, candles, vinegar, and
salt, bedding, utensils for dressing their victuals, and small beer or cyder... is, even more, a burden
to our hard earned money. And what happens if we revolt against

Traditional Families Vs Single Parent Families
Traditional families versus single parent families. A traditional family household is a household
with two parents, mother and father. A single parent family household is a one parent household a
mother, or father. This household is usually occurs when a parent dies, parents divorce, or the
parents was never married and separated after having a child together. The question at hand is
would a child be more successful and mentally stable in life growing up in a traditional family
household, or single parenting household? This has been an intriguing argument for many years. I
strongly believe a child in a single parent home could grow up to be just as emotionally stable and
also be just as successful as a child who grows up with both parents.
Many children in today s society have grown to become successful and mentally stable whether
they had two parents, or one parent raise them. With everything in life it is never about quantity,
but quality. This could apply to single parenting as well. As long as a parent create a stable and
nurturing home their child will grow up to be a mature, hard working, independent, and loving
adult. Family structure should not be the main focus when it comes to raising children, the focus
should be on the values and life lessons that are taught to the child as they mature in life. Family
structure in the last decade have change drastically. Children are being raised by same sex parents,
grandparents, extended family, a single father, or a single

Buddhist Doctrine Of Karma Essay example
The Buddhist doctrine of karma ( quot;deeds quot;, quot;actions quot;), and the closely related
doctrine of rebirth, are perhaps the best known, and often the least understood, of Buddhist
doctrines. The matter is complicated by the fact that the other Indian religious traditions of
Hinduism and Jainism have their own theories of Karma and Reincarnation. It is in fact the Hindu
versions that are better known in the West. The Buddhisttheory of karma and rebirth are quite
distinct from their other Indian counterparts.
In Buddhism the law of karma is the moral law of causation good actions give good results and
vice versa. It is the quality of an act, which determines its consequences. But what determines the
karmic quality of a deed? In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Buddhist theory of rebirth asserts that the fruits of some karma may manifest themselves in
quot;future lives quot;. This brings us to the Buddhist theory of rebirth. Similar concepts occur in
other religious systems e.g. the Platonic theory of the quot;pre existence of the soul quot; and the
Hindu Jain theory of re incarnation. Such reincarnation theory involves the transmigration of a soul.
In Buddhism, however, it is the unripened karmic acts outstanding at the death of an individual,
which conditions a new birth. The last moment of consciousness too is also a conditioning factor,
but it is the store of unripened karma generated by volitional acts (the sankhГўras) of previous
existences which generates the destiny of the new individual. A newly born individual needs not
only the genetic blueprint derived from the genes of the natural parents, but also a karmic blueprint
derived from the volitional acts of a deceased person.
The question has been posed whether the new individual is the same as the old individual whose
karma it has inherited. The Buddha s answer to this question was somewhat enigmatic: quot;It is
not the same, yet it is not another quot; (na ca so, na ca aГ±Г±o). To understand the Buddha s
reply we have to investigate the criteria, which establish personal identity. Is the child the same as

First Person Narration In The Stranger By Albert Camus
Through thoughts and conversation, one can learn a great deal about the ideals and opinions of a
person. This is also the case in literature, as authors may write in first person to allow the reader
to receive a better idea of who the main character is and what they stand for. Authors can also use
such a strategy to express their personal opinions on a topic in the text through the thoughts and
actions of their main character. Such is the case of Albert Camus and his main character in The
Stranger, Meursault. Through first person narration, Camus is able to use Meursault as a vehicle to
bring focus to religious systems in the 1940s Algerian society depicted in the novel. Two of the ways
in which the reader can see Camus views on religion in his novel is through Meursault s interactions
with other characters and through the personal thoughts of Meursault. One way in which Camus
uses first person narration to bring focus to religious systems and constructs in the 1940s Algerian
society presented in The Stranger is through Meursault s interactions with other characters on the
premise of religion. Through these interactions, Camus is able to present an idea or situation

to show that what a woman says is only deemed serious if not seen as a woman saying it. When she
returns to Belmont, Portia reads a letter out to Bassanio and Gratiano, which contains the line,
There you shall find that Portia was the doctor,/Nerissa there her

Media In The Spanish American War
On Feb 15, 1898 the Maine had been ward in Havana harbor for three weeks without ny incidents
so the United States Navy sailors crew were anxious to get back to America. Captain Sigsbee,
who was the commander of the Maine, later recalled that the Marine sergeant who played taps
on the bugle was achieving some elaborate flourishes at night but the sailors felt pure tranquility.
As sailors aboard the Maine began falling asleep, an explosion came from the front end of the
ship. At about 11 pm Captain Sigsbee wired Washington: Maine blown up in Havana harbor at
9:40 tonight and destroyed. Many wounded and doubtless more killed or drowned . To be exact,
the explosion had killed 266 US sailors. Hurst and many other Americans blamed the Spanish...

Hurst, and Joseph Pulitzer, practiced yellow journalism in their articles and exaggerated what
was happening during that time. There is even a quote by Hurst where he said to Frederic
Sackrider Remington, an illustrator for the Journal, You furnish the pictures and I ll furnish the
war. Hurst s newspapers had stories about female prisoners, executions, valiant rebels fighting,
and starving women and children, describing the situation in Cuba to tug at Americans heart
strings. They also used romance to exaggerate the events taking place. Through 1897, the New
York newspapers portrayed Cuba as a damsel in distress, the U.S as her savior, and Spain as the
villain. When the USS Maine sunk in Havana Harbor, the Hurst newspapers with no evidence,
blamed the Spanish, so Americans believed that this was true and demanded to get back at Spain.
Some historians today are convinced that the Spanish American War was the first press driven war
and that it fueled the public s passion for war, because if the newspapers kept things accurate and
unexaggerated, they believe the mood for Cuban intervention would probably have been very
different and much more

Japanese Culture Shock Stereotypes Essay
Culture shock stereotypes I feel that coming to Japan helped break a lot of assumptions about
Japanese culture and also confirm knowledge I knew only from textbooks. The trip also made me
experience some culture shock but if anything it made the trip more interesting. I appreciated the
irony that was ever present. There were many customs both old and new I appreciated on the trip
and helped open my eyes to new experiences, observations, and interactions with people I normally
would never have a chance to meet. The Japanese peopletruly took elements of western culture and
made it their own.
One of my most memorable experiences was on the second night of Japan when we went to a
baseball game and the customs there are crazy Both teams were really into the game even when
losing they d chant wave their flags and dance or clap their hands. They blew up balloons we
thought until they burst but it was actually to let them go to make noise to cheer their team on.
They dance and click sticks together in time to rally their teams fighting spirit. It was Tiger s vs
Marines and the Tigers were The better team both cheering and playing wise. However, I like
rooting for the marine because they were the underdogs. It was a great experience that helped me
bond with other people in the group and also let meet to know the Japanese people better than
observing them in the daytime where they were quieter and hurrying off to places and were
generally reserved. They made sports games their

Classical Gender Representation:
In Classical Hollywood the representation of women is certainly quite clear cut, our main two
definable types being that of the virgin and that of the whore. Our virgin represents the patriarchal
ideals of family within which at the time a woman should represent innocence, purity and certainly
deference to the male. Our whore figure shows contempt for family values through promiscuity or
perceived selfishness. This woman will often be a lot more influential then a virgin figure. Our
whore will inevitably be neutralised during the course of the film often through imprisonment or
death. The classic often revisited scene of a man grasping a woman by the upper arms is a good
visual metaphor for the dominance of man in classical Hollywood. Another good visual
metaphor is that of the male gaze. Very often we will see a point of view shot from the male
perspective and we see that the object of his gaze is a beautifully lit woman. She will not return
his gaze as this would be a show of equality. This representation of gender is consistent through
all classical genres for example we have our Femme Fatale in Noir and in westerns we have
literal whores. Westerns also have what is known as the tart with a heart which is a female living
by questionable morals but often for reason of necessity. She will also always be neutralised.

Fermentation Lab Report
Fermentation is the anaerobic process by which glucose, or other sugars are catabolized by
microorganisms without an electron transport chain, like yeast (Campbell, 2004). In experiment
one the yeast and glucose acted as reactants, with the yeast breaking down the glucose, producing
the products CO2 and ethanol. The overall reaction for the alcoholic fermentation that took place
can be represented as 2 pyruvate + 2NADH 2NAD+ +2CO2 + 2 ethanol (Campbell, 2004). This
biological process allows cells to operate under conditions where oxygen is not present. Experiment
1 explored the question of how the amount of sugar impacts the rate of fermentation, while
Experiment 2 tested the effect the type of sugar available to the yeasthas on the rate of
fermentation. If more sugar is available to the yeast, the faster the reaction should occur. If sucrose
is used instead of glucose, the reaction will produce less CO2 since the yeast cannot breakdown
sucrose as efficiently as glucose.
Methods:
The procedure for experiment one followed that given in: Martineau, Dean, Gilliland, Soderstrom.
BIO 19L Experiment 1, General Biology I Lab for Science Majors, Autumn Quarter, 2017 2018.
DePaul University.
Experiment one tested the effect the amount of sugar has on the fermentation rate. Four labeled 50
milliliter (mL) test tubes were used to transport each reaction to the designated fermentation tube.
Each tube had a specific ratio of reactants. Test tube 1 acted as the negative control and

COMMENTARY TEXT
Proclamation of the Irish Republic, 24 April 1916
Proclamation of the Irish Republic was one of the more important aspects in the Easter Rising. ItВґs
a historic circumstantial text. In order to maintain secrecy the Proclamation of the Irish Republic
was printed out on a hand press a few hours before the Rising. It was produced in two sections and
due to the shortage of lettering, the letter e had to be improvised, standing out for the rest of the text.
Easter Rising has a special meaning for the Irish people. The Rising was an insurrection located in
Ireland during Easter Week, 1916. It was held by Irish republicans with ... Show more content on

For the insurgents, it was understood that just real independence would give Ireland the happiness
and prosperity of the whole nation and of all its parts . This gives the attempt to independence a
triple sight as political, social and economic change, showing some of the ProclamationВґs writers
socialist principles.
The events after the rising would change Ireland forever. Two weeks after the insurrection was over,
all seven writers of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic, Clarke, MacDiarmada, MacDonagh,
Pearse, Ceannt, Connolly, and Plunkett, were executed. Irish and international reaction to this
manner of punishment was horror and disgust. Executions excited a big wave of revulsion against
the British authorities and turned the dead republican leaders into martyred heroes. The Easter
Rising signed the end of British power in Ireland.
The Easter Rising became a turning point in the Irish history. It was the flame for the following
Declaration of Independence of January 21, 1919 and it fractured the Irish politics in
Constitutionalism and Militantism. Sinn FГ©in, Irish words for Ourselves alone , became the most
influential political party in Ireland. The party was founded in 1905 by Arthur Griffith, a Dublin
journalist. Although Griffith himself did not take part in the Rising, many Sinn FГ©in members
did. They were also members of the Volunteers and the Irish Republican Brotherhood. After the

The Mystery Of The Vampire Diaries
Have you ever turned a boring day into a fun and exciting one? Well I ve had many but there s
one that stands out. It was last year, around August. It was Allison, Aiden, and myself. Allison is
a beautiful 17 year old girl with pretty black hair and brown eyes, she was wearing a black crop
top with a tank top under it and white pants. Aiden is 16 year old with blond hair with brown
highlights and has pretty blue eyes, he was wearing a normal t shirt with Kylie Jenner on it and
some jeggings. Allison and I were sitting on the couch bored out of our minds just watching re
runs of The Vampire Diaries. After a little while I decided we need to do something. Of course I
didn t tell her what we were doing because what s the fun in that? So I... Show more content on

I grabbed four big guns and 2 little ones, as soon as Allison and Aiden got to where I was they were
confused they looked at me and I look over and smile they finally get the hint and each of them got
1 nerf gun and threw it in the cart. then we had to go and get duct tape so we were headed over there
when I noticed Allison and Aiden weren t there so I back up and look around but then I think
well, they ll be fine , so I continue my search for duct tape. I find some and get 3 rolls and then we
needed paper towels because we were running out, so then I walked over there just to find Aiden
and Allison building a toilet paper fort. I roll my eyes and got what I needed and ducked down
and said, you two are so childish! I walked away and they put everything back. They were
following me, then they were running up and down aisles while I was shopping. I felt like I was
the mom of them two. Then i heard the intercom go off good afternoon shoppers, I would just
like you all to know that Aiden Wilson is here and he is single , people were laughing but people
were also rolling their eyes. I was doing neither, so I finally caught up to them and we were
checking out I made Aiden pay because the way he acted! Look now I m starting to sound like
my mum. It was only $58 but Allison decided to buy a bunch of candy so it turned into $64,
which is fine Aiden really didn t mind he was cool with it. Before we left we got Starbucks, which
was good! Aiden got in his car and Allison

Steroids In The 1960 s
The 1960 s were a dramatic time in the United States. It was a time of free love, the Vietnam war
and steroid use in sports. Government agencies were forced to take action and to put a stop to
drug use in sports after the deaths for steroid use in the 1960 and 1967 Olympics. They were also
forced to strip away victories from so many well respected men and women. This time period
was known for so many things, but it will always be remembered as the golden age of steroids. It
all began around 1935, steroid use was rare at this time. Then suddenly it was starting to be
looked at and taken seriously around 1965 as it became more common. A man named Mr.
Olympia, Larry Scott also know as Larry the Legend, was a professional bodybuilder in the... Show

The 100 km team race and a runner by the name of Knut Jensen. He is up to run and then mid
way through the race he begins to get tired and falls down bouncing his head off the ground. All of
the athletic trainers run to him to help him. The impact from his head hitting the ground killed him.
There was nothing they could do. They ran some tests to see why he had collapsed, the olympic
committee figured it would be due to the intense heat. The autopsy later found out that Jensen had
died because he used Ronicol, a type of steroid. This tragedy would make this the second person to
die during the olympics the first person was a marathon runner who died from heat exhaustion

Owning Your Own Shadow By Robert Johnson
Anika Choudhury Professor Sund English V01A 28 January 2016 The Shadow Off Our Lives
Thesis In Owning Your Own Shadow Robert Johnson best defines shadow as our rejected and
unacceptable character being collected in the dark corner of our self for too long that they start
to take a life on their own (4). Johnson argues, The shadow is the part of us we fail to see or
know, (4). What I think he means by this is that the shadow can be an outlook for the unlived
life caused by a specific pattern of life decisions. I strongly agree because a lot of times we deny
the realities and are unable to face the truths. The way Johnson explains shadow is not the way I
understood shadow before rather just understanding that a shape is created by a body coming

A Report On Fedex Corp
Recruitment is the process of detecting that the business needs to employ somebody up to the
point at which application forms for the post have arrived at the business or now a day can be
completed over the business website. Selection then consists of the processes involved in choosing
from applicants an appropriate candidate to fill a post. Recruiting people to fill particular posts
within a company can be done either internally by recruitment within the company, or externally by
recruiting folks from outside.
A company that is finding a strong correlation between its social outreach and business goals is
FedEx Corp. It broadcasts the company s involvement in such areas as community and disaster
relief, environmental issues and work life balance. FedEx also controls social media as an
advertiser. In December 2009, FedEx was named by Glassdoor.com, a jobs Website, one of the
best places to work in the US in 2009, compiled from company employee reviews throughout the
year.
FedEx always recruited people who were willing to take risks, who were risk taking by nature, and
was willing to take up challenges. During its initial years, when Fedex was relatively unknown and
the overnight express delivery concept was not tested and proven, joining the company was
considered a risky proposition. The company tempted functional experts by offering them stock
options, and also opportunities to work in a motivating and interesting environment. The company
recruited people from leading

Clarence Hudson White Research Paper
Clarence Hudson White was born a son of a grocery salesman in 1871. Later becoming a
bookkeeper for the same company his father worked for, White spent his early life in Newark,
Ohio. White had many hobbies from a young ae including reading, painting, and music. It was
not until the age of 23 that he began to take up photography as a hobby much to his parent s
disapproval. Later on in his career, Clarence Hudson White would be described as the one who
may be considered the archetypal Pictorialist photographer of the United States by photo
historian Naomi Rosenblum. Four years after White made his first photographs, he began
receiving awards for his artistry. He saw his photos as a work of art that were crafted as any other
art medium revealed by their makers had. His prints typically displayed richness and subtle details
that other artists rarely achieved. Clarence White along with other pictorialists had the goal of
elevating photography into the more respected art realm. Unlike other pictorialists, White used light
in his photos as one of the most fundamental visual effects. White has said that photography was a
very personal matter for him. The essence of photography to him is the discovery and the
development of the vision inside your head.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Secret Of The Kitchen Essay
Can you relate to this? It starts with the best intentions. You will cook. You can even search the
web and pick out recipes or make a list. But then something comes up. Get distracted. You stay at
work late or go out with your friends. Upon arriving home is eight and a half and have nothing in
the kitchen to cook and no desire to go out and buy food. The secret of the kitchen has a fridge and
a cupboard. If it is eight o clock in the evening and into the kitchen to find an empty fridge,
chances are pretty low that you will cook a meal. Entropy Overand dinner ends a series of
appetizers, improvised from the last of the cookies is in the closet and the last part of humus in
the refrigerator. To keep your kitchen, you must have a constant plan weekly food shopping. Is
not it funny how we plan our week s work, our vacations, our family obligations, but somehow,
they completely avoid planning in the time to shop and cook? Here are the basics for making a
food purchase plan that makes it accessible even to cook during the week. 1. Create a shopping
list by hand or machine. Make a list of all the staples you would like to have in your kitchen.
Also add the ingredients of their favorite recipes. You can use this list every week and keep
adding to it as you learn about new foods and recipes. 2. Keep the list handy and up to date. Post
the list on the refrigerator. Check all that just as the week progresses. That way do not forget the
vital ingredients. 3. Plan. Choose the

  • 4. The Effects Of Explosion Exposure On Central Auditory... The health effects following exposure to blast impact are a growing concern in the United States, especially in the military population. The United State s involvement in warfare in recent years has led to many unseen developments not only psychologically but also physically in the service men and women returning home. Technological changes in current years have allowed for the development of various types of lethal weaponry, such as with high intensity explosive devices. Improvised explosive devices, known as IEDs have largely been used in recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The use of IEDs in combat has led to debilitating losses and handicaps experienced by some of our military personnel, including traumatic brain injury (TBI). The... Participants were tested on batteries of behavioral and physical tests whose scores can demonstrate a connection to problems with central auditory processing (Gallun et al., 2012). The purpose of the study was to see if participants with blast exposure performed worse on these tests than participants without blast exposure, especially with hearing in complex auditory environments and speech in noise types of measures (Gallun et al., 2012). The blast exposure group included veterans seeking treatment at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center post Iraq War. They identified as having exposure to a high intensity blast at least once within the past year. They were excluded from the study if they had any TBI higher than the moderate diagnosis, and were also excluded if they had a hearing loss over 50 dB HL. Subjects without blast exposure were also recruited for the study and were tested at the National Center for Rehabilitative Auditory Research in Portland. These subjects data were used as a baseline comparison to obtain data reflecting the general population that has been unaffected by blast exposure. The non blast exposure group was recruited into the study based on similar age and hearing capabilities as those with blast exposure. Participants from both groups underwent ... • 5. Literary Analysis Of The Devil In The White City Aditya Krishna G. Richey Honors World History 4 December 2017 The Devil in the White City is a literary nonfiction novel that spans the years surrounding the building of the 1893 Chicago World s Fair, also known as The World s Columbian Exposition, which was designed to commemorate the landing of Columbus in America. This nonlinear novel is divided into four parts with the first three parts of the novel primarily taking place in Chicago between the years 1890 1893. However, Part IV of the novel takes the reader to Philadelphia circa 1895. In The Devil in the White City, author Erik Larson uses extensive research to recreate the lives of two real men and to reinvent Chicago during the World s Columbian Exposition. In the process, he creates two separate, yet connected plot lines and attempts to fill in some of the gaps left by history. One plot line centers on Daniel Burnham, the architect who builds the 1893 Chicago World s Fair. The other plot line focuses on character H.H. Holmes, the serial killer who exploits the fair to find his victims. The story of Daniel Burnham, his building of the fair, and the struggles he overcomes in order to make the enterprise a success from one plot line. This sequence of events begins in 1890, when Chicago wins the bid for the 1893 World s Exposition. Daniel Burnham and his then partner, John Root, are given the honor of being the architects who build the fair and consequently, a more positive global reputation for Chicago. Throughout the ... I would take out my notebook as if it were a class and write any single detail to study. One of the professions that really stood out to me was the lawyers. The thought of being able to help someone while also punishing those who broke the law was fulfilling to me. To become a lawyer it requires attending college. A bachelor degree is needed and takes about four years to obtain. Next, is taking the LSAT also known as the Law School Admission Test. After doing so you must proceed to attend law school. A minimum of three is required to earn your Juris Doctor degree. Finally, it is essential to take the state bar exam in order to legally practice law. However, when taking the exam and passing only means you can practice law according to the state you took the test in. An outstanding college to attend when wanting to become a lawyer is Yale which was ranked the number one law school in the United States. Harvard and Stanford were also highly ranked and recommended schools. Yet in New Jersey, Rutgers and Seton Hall take the title. One skill that would need is to collaborate with others as a team to in the end be successful. Another skill is time management, we need to prepare and be ready for a given date. • 9. The Stigma Of Receiving Therapy For Mental Illness One of the most difficult aspects of treating patients who suffer from trichotillomania (TTM), commonly called hair pulling disorder, is that most prefer to remain invisible. They are creative at finding ways to hide their illness. Most cover up with head scarves, hats, hoodies, and carry on as if nothing is wrong.Treatment for TTM is accessible through the NHS, yet the stigma of receiving therapy for mental illness is still strong enough to keep many patients with TTM away from psychologists, even when they have suffered significant hair loss. The key to eliminating this stigma is education and transparency. In order to better understanding of this impulse disorder, it is important to look closely at the causes, symptoms, and behaviors. Once these are understood, working with a psychologist to plan effective treatment becomes as easy as walking into their practice. Here are the basics about trichotillomania, and how a psychologist can help with finding the right treatment. What is Trichotillomania (TTM)? TTM is a psychological disorder identified as an impulse control disorder. Contrary to popular belief, TTM is not a form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). The two disorders can coexist due to their shared irresistible urges, though they are diagnosed separately and treated separately. TTM also bears a close resemblance to Compulsive Skin Picking, though this is also considered a separate disorder with different diagnosis and treatment options. Predominantly found ... • 11. Elasticity In The Miller s Tale By Geoffrey Chaucer Henri Bergson s theory states that tension and elasticity are required in social life to adapt to the ever changing situations. Someone who is severely deficient in elasticity and tension will be denied access to society either by isolation or hospitalization. For someone that is slightly deficient or has a minor slip in elasticity or tension, the penalty will be laughter. According to Henri Bergson, the perception of mechanical inelasticity engenders laughter and is the basis of the comic. This inelasticity is clearly demonstrated in The Miller s tale by Geoffrey Chaucer with John and Absalon being the main targets of the ridicule, Nicholas becomes a target towards the end of the tale. Chaucer s characterization of those personages attitudes and behavior support Bergson s theory of mechanical inelasticity. First of all, John the carpenter, during the whole story, is a victim of the ridicule. He is so well played by Nicholas, who has a gift for telling people what they want to hear and manipulate them, that John will do everything that Nicholas asks of him. Nicholas who thinks he can ridicule Absalon even more by doing the same thing gets burned by him. Nicholas for the first time lacks awareness and fails to adapt and is therefore rigid. I feel as if I am being used as a political pawn. I am told who to support, what to do, and who to peruse. Although I am able to do a lot more as royalty, it seems I am not completely free. My male counterparts still seem to have the upper hand in terms of choice. I am told to go after specific men in other kingdoms in order to expand the kings alliances and expand his rule. Martin Scorsese s The Departed Essays The Departed, a film written by William Monahan, Alan Mak, and Felix Chong, directed by Martin Scorsese, was in my opinion a spectacular crime thriller deserving of less criticism from overly sentimental viewers. Though this film is in some scenes brutal and vicious, I praise Martin Scorsese s refusal to cower away from the undeniable truth that organized crime in the United States is murderous in nature just to satisfy certain viewers as critics advocated he should. All of the characters presented in the movie have a distinct personality, making the viewer engage deeply in the heart pumping action and drama. But the actor is nothing without the writer, and not by any means is The Departed lacking in storyline. As you watch The Departed, Colin Sullivan (Damon) and Billy Costigan s (DiCaprio) storylines become increasingly in depth and intertwined. Starting when Colin Sullivan is just a child and his encounter with Frank Costello s mentorship, the story then fast forwards to Costigan and Colin working their way through police training and eventually amounting to Costigan undercover and Colin as a detective. The side by side comparison of their lives adds to distinct feelings about the characters. The two rats continually work against each other and narrowly miss seeing each other s faces, even dating the same girl, Madolyn (Verna Farmiga). This suspense draws watchers to the edge of their seats with anticipation for the conclusion of the movie. Phenomenal Acting and a jaw dropping storyline are the foremost reasons why The Departed is by all means a spectacular movie. This film will go down as one of the best crime thrillers of the 21th century. At first, it was believed that Tonatiuh was the face at the center but he was a day sky god not a night sky god. There were also similarities among the face at the center of the Calendar stone and with the god Xochipilli Pilzintecuhtli. Xochipilli Pilzintecuhtli had similar face painting, arms, and carried a human heart. They were started by Tsar Nicholas II under the October Manifesto, a document written after the increasing pressure of the 1905 Revolution, this document promised more civil liberties, and the introduction of a duma, under the influence of Sergei Witte, the chief minister. The four dumas ran between April 1906 and February 1917 and Nicholas II opposed a duma from the start, and most decisions came to the Tsar and his council. • 18. Review Of Dover Beach Sage Walund Gorra Arnold s Dover Beach English 201 3/9/15 Doubt on Dover Beach: An Exploration of the Loss of Faith in the Victorian Era The Victorian age is marked by the sudden and startling changes it brought on the western world. As industrialization, intense colonization, and expanding practices of sciences abounded, the traditional ideas and ideals that had once seemed constant and true, were suddenly precarious. Matthew Arnold s Dover Beach has become quintessential to the Victorian literary canon as it is exactly this struggle with a loss of constancy and the confrontation with the unknown and uncertainty that Arnold evokes within its lines. Dover Beach explores the potential effects of these sudden shifts in culture; particularly the shift towards scientific exploration and the threat this shift had on notions of Christianity and faith. The poem acts as a grand sweeping metaphor for the ideas of constancy and doubt as it lures the reader into a sense of permanence and complacency before undermining that sense by contradicting itself and implementing mistrust; ultimately it leaves the reader with a sense that since faith is not eternal, nothing is. This metaphor is enhanced and nuanced through Arnold s interesting use of structure and sudden shifts in tone. The first stanza of Dover Beach consists of fourteen lines in iambic meter (though not iambic pentameter) with varying lengths and features a seemingly random rhyme structure of: ... • 21. The R V. Dudley And Stephens Case Essay The R v. Dudley and Stephens case occurred in 1884. In May of that year, four men left Southampton, England for Australia on the Mignonette, a private sailing yacht. These men were Captain Thomas Dudley (31), mate Edward Stephens (36), seaman Edmond Brooks (38), and cabin boy Richard Parker (17). While crossing the South Atlantic near the Cape of Good Hope in July, bad weather struck the yacht and it sunk. The men managed to escape into the lifeboat, and two one pound tins of turnips were the only food they subsisted on for four days. They caught a small turtle on the fourth day that lasted eight days, and were without food for another eight days after. The only fresh water they had was the rain that came from time to time. On the sixteenth day of drifting Richard Parker became ill from drinking seawater. On the eighteenth day Dudley and Stephens approached Brooks with the idea that they should sacrifice one person to save the rest. Brooks dissented, and they did not consult Parker as he was ill. On July 24th Dudley and Stephens reasoned with Brooks, saying that since they had families to take care of it was most logical to kill the boy and save themselves. They proposed that if there were no vessels in sight the next day they would kill Parker. As there were no vessels, Dudley killed Parker by slitting his throat; the boy was so ill he did not resist. Brooks dissented until Parker s death, but also fed on the blood and flesh of Parker with the two accused for four days. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The prices listed are the market value of the parts we need if we were to purchase them. The total cost will be more than what we anticipate it will cost to create our drone. Brushless motors Brushless motors are a bit similar to normal DC motors in the way that coils and magnets are used to drive the shaft. Though the brushless motors do not have a brush on the shaft which takes care of switching the power direction in the coils, and this is why they are called brushless. Instead the brushless motors have three coils on the inner (center) of the motor, which is fixed to the mounting. On the outer side it contains a number of magnets mounted to a cylinder that is attached to the rotating shaft. So the coils are fixed which means wires can go directly to them and therefor there is no need for a brush. The reason why QuadCopters use brushless motors instead of normal DC motors is the much higher speeds and less power usage for the same speed. This act changed America s economic landscape completely, by minimizing the long existing problem of retirees and the elderly living below the poverty line. Simply put, Social Securityis a way to guarantee that older people, namely retirees, have at least a minimal source of income in their later years, by providing around 40 percent of the average person s yearly income. Social Security both is and functions as a defined benefit plan, wherein benefits are decided by the amount of quarters than a person works, and are decided by a sliding scale with caps (United States). As directed by the sliding scale, per dollar benefits are much higher for people of lower incomes, while overall benefit amounts are higher for those of higher incomes (Benefit). Both the scale and the caps are adjusted yearly according to inflation. Social Security accumulates its funds into a trust fund, and puts excess money into investments in US Treasury Securities, where interest is accumulated and put back into the fund. Undeniably, many have concluded that it may have in part been an assessment of the purported Vietnam syndrome, the alleged condition that makes it problematic for the American public to support U.S. military interference deprived of a just cause. As with Iraq, the early defences for the invasion proved to be either extremely debatable or obviously false, hitherto it still received bipartisan support in Congress and the approval of nearly two thirds of the American public. That mutiny being us throwing tea into the harbor in rebellion for the cruel monopolization and taxation of all tea we purchase. The so called Quartering Act placing soldiers in our homes was decided upon none other than ...the present session of parliament... that we are not represented in. Placing soldiers in our homes is worse enough, but furnishing them with fire, candles, vinegar, and salt, bedding, utensils for dressing their victuals, and small beer or cyder... is, even more, a burden to our hard earned money. • 37. Traditional Families Vs Single Parent Families Traditional families versus single parent families. A traditional family household is a household with two parents, mother and father. A single parent family household is a one parent household a mother, or father. This household is usually occurs when a parent dies, parents divorce, or the parents was never married and separated after having a child together. The question at hand is would a child be more successful and mentally stable in life growing up in a traditional family household, or single parenting household? This has been an intriguing argument for many years. I strongly believe a child in a single parent home could grow up to be just as emotionally stable and also be just as successful as a child who grows up with both parents. Many children in today s society have grown to become successful and mentally stable whether they had two parents, or one parent raise them. With everything in life it is never about quantity, but quality. This could apply to single parenting as well. As long as a parent create a stable and nurturing home their child will grow up to be a mature, hard working, independent, and loving adult. Family structure should not be the main focus when it comes to raising children, the focus should be on the values and life lessons that are taught to the child as they mature in life. Family structure in the last decade have change drastically. Children are being raised by same sex parents, grandparents, extended family, a single father, or a single ... • 38. Buddhist Doctrine Of Karma Essay example The Buddhist doctrine of karma ( quot;deeds quot;, quot;actions quot;), and the closely related doctrine of rebirth, are perhaps the best known, and often the least understood, of Buddhist doctrines. The matter is complicated by the fact that the other Indian religious traditions of Hinduism and Jainism have their own theories of Karma and Reincarnation. It is in fact the Hindu versions that are better known in the West. The Buddhisttheory of karma and rebirth are quite distinct from their other Indian counterparts. In Buddhism the law of karma is the moral law of causation good actions give good results and vice versa. It is the quality of an act, which determines its consequences. But what determines the karmic quality of a deed? In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Buddhist theory of rebirth asserts that the fruits of some karma may manifest themselves in quot;future lives quot;. This brings us to the Buddhist theory of rebirth. Similar concepts occur in other religious systems e.g. the Platonic theory of the quot;pre existence of the soul quot; and the Hindu Jain theory of re incarnation. Such reincarnation theory involves the transmigration of a soul. In Buddhism, however, it is the unripened karmic acts outstanding at the death of an individual, which conditions a new birth. The last moment of consciousness too is also a conditioning factor, but it is the store of unripened karma generated by volitional acts (the sankhГўras) of previous existences which generates the destiny of the new individual. A newly born individual needs not only the genetic blueprint derived from the genes of the natural parents, but also a karmic blueprint derived from the volitional acts of a deceased person. The question has been posed whether the new individual is the same as the old individual whose karma it has inherited. The Buddha s answer to this question was somewhat enigmatic: quot;It is not the same, yet it is not another quot; (na ca so, na ca aГ±Г±o). To understand the Buddha s reply we have to investigate the criteria, which establish personal identity. Is the child the same as the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. First Person Narration In The Stranger By Albert Camus Through thoughts and conversation, one can learn a great deal about the ideals and opinions of a person. This is also the case in literature, as authors may write in first person to allow the reader to receive a better idea of who the main character is and what they stand for. Authors can also use such a strategy to express their personal opinions on a topic in the text through the thoughts and actions of their main character. Such is the case of Albert Camus and his main character in The Stranger, Meursault. Through first person narration, Camus is able to use Meursault as a vehicle to bring focus to religious systems in the 1940s Algerian society depicted in the novel. Two of the ways in which the reader can see Camus views on religion in his novel is through Meursault s interactions with other characters and through the personal thoughts of Meursault. One way in which Camus uses first person narration to bring focus to religious systems and constructs in the 1940s Algerian society presented in The Stranger is through Meursault s interactions with other characters on the premise of religion. Through these interactions, Camus is able to present an idea or situation dealing with religion to the reader... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Female Oppression Of Women In William Shakespeare In Shakespeare s comedy, MoV, the female protagonists are not given the same opportunities men or treated seriously and rather only given these opportunities or have their words taken seriously if they act as men through cross dressing. From this portrayal, modern audiences can learn that oppression was present in the past and still continues to affect women in today s world. Portia has to cross dress in order to take on the role of a lawyer. She along with her maid in waiting, Nerissa That they shall think we are accomplishГЁd/With that we lack (3.4.62 63)During the Shakespearean era, women were not viewed as intelligent and lacked skills to have such roles. Going under the guise of a lawyer Portia would be able hold a position that she would not be able to have if she was appeared as a woman. Furthermore, this position also allows for her to have more power and gain respect from individuals in her society. While under this persona, Shylock lauds a disguised Portia for her judgement, saying A Daniel come to judgement! Yea, a Daniel./O wise young judge, how I do honor thee! (4.1.231 232) 1) Shylock likens Portia to a wise and important biblical figure, Daniel, who made wise judgement. By complimenting Portia, it goes to show that what a woman says is only deemed serious if not seen as a woman saying it. When she returns to Belmont, Portia reads a letter out to Bassanio and Gratiano, which contains the line, There you shall find that Portia was the doctor,/Nerissa there her ... Hurst, and Joseph Pulitzer, practiced yellow journalism in their articles and exaggerated what was happening during that time. There is even a quote by Hurst where he said to Frederic Sackrider Remington, an illustrator for the Journal, You furnish the pictures and I ll furnish the war. Hurst s newspapers had stories about female prisoners, executions, valiant rebels fighting, and starving women and children, describing the situation in Cuba to tug at Americans heart strings. They also used romance to exaggerate the events taking place. Through 1897, the New York newspapers portrayed Cuba as a damsel in distress, the U.S as her savior, and Spain as the villain. When the USS Maine sunk in Havana Harbor, the Hurst newspapers with no evidence, blamed the Spanish, so Americans believed that this was true and demanded to get back at Spain. Japanese Culture Shock Stereotypes Essay Culture shock stereotypes I feel that coming to Japan helped break a lot of assumptions about Japanese culture and also confirm knowledge I knew only from textbooks. The trip also made me experience some culture shock but if anything it made the trip more interesting. I appreciated the irony that was ever present. There were many customs both old and new I appreciated on the trip and helped open my eyes to new experiences, observations, and interactions with people I normally would never have a chance to meet. The Japanese peopletruly took elements of western culture and made it their own. One of my most memorable experiences was on the second night of Japan when we went to a baseball game and the customs there are crazy Both teams were really into the game even when losing they d chant wave their flags and dance or clap their hands. They blew up balloons we thought until they burst but it was actually to let them go to make noise to cheer their team on. They dance and click sticks together in time to rally their teams fighting spirit. It was Tiger s vs Marines and the Tigers were The better team both cheering and playing wise. However, I like rooting for the marine because they were the underdogs. Classical Gender Representation: In Classical Hollywood the representation of women is certainly quite clear cut, our main two definable types being that of the virgin and that of the whore. Our virgin represents the patriarchal ideals of family within which at the time a woman should represent innocence, purity and certainly deference to the male. Our whore figure shows contempt for family values through promiscuity or perceived selfishness. This woman will often be a lot more influential then a virgin figure. Our whore will inevitably be neutralised during the course of the film often through imprisonment or death. The classic often revisited scene of a man grasping a woman by the upper arms is a good visual metaphor for the dominance of man in classical Hollywood. Another good visual metaphor is that of the male gaze. Very often we will see a point of view shot from the male perspective and we see that the object of his gaze is a beautifully lit woman. She will not return his gaze as this would be a show of equality. This representation of gender is consistent through all classical genres for example we have our Femme Fatale in Noir and in westerns we have literal whores. Westerns also have what is known as the tart with a heart which is a female living by questionable morals but often for reason of necessity. She will also always be neutralised. • 45. Fermentation Lab Report Fermentation is the anaerobic process by which glucose, or other sugars are catabolized by microorganisms without an electron transport chain, like yeast (Campbell, 2004). In experiment one the yeast and glucose acted as reactants, with the yeast breaking down the glucose, producing the products CO2 and ethanol. The overall reaction for the alcoholic fermentation that took place can be represented as 2 pyruvate + 2NADH 2NAD+ +2CO2 + 2 ethanol (Campbell, 2004). This biological process allows cells to operate under conditions where oxygen is not present. Experiment 1 explored the question of how the amount of sugar impacts the rate of fermentation, while Experiment 2 tested the effect the type of sugar available to the yeasthas on the rate of fermentation. If more sugar is available to the yeast, the faster the reaction should occur. If sucrose is used instead of glucose, the reaction will produce less CO2 since the yeast cannot breakdown sucrose as efficiently as glucose. Methods: The procedure for experiment one followed that given in: Martineau, Dean, Gilliland, Soderstrom. BIO 19L Experiment 1, General Biology I Lab for Science Majors, Autumn Quarter, 2017 2018. DePaul University. Experiment one tested the effect the amount of sugar has on the fermentation rate. This gives the attempt to independence a triple sight as political, social and economic change, showing some of the ProclamationВґs writers socialist principles. Two weeks after the insurrection was over, all seven writers of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic, Clarke, MacDiarmada, MacDonagh, Pearse, Ceannt, Connolly, and Plunkett, were executed.
