The Importance Of Turning Point In Life
Sometime in your life you will face turning points, but how would that change you? Will you think
about different things you want, staying positive when things go bad, and what growing up means,
like all these characters? Brian from Hatchet, Moon Shadow from Dragonwings, and Rachel from
Eleven all faced turning point experiences that changed their life and what they thought. This made
them understand certain things in life. No matter what you characters went through is what you might
face one time. Nobody has perfect life or choices. think, you will face a turning point in your life and
will also face problems. What all these Brian, Moon Shadow, and Rachel now know what to do in
these similar problems.
Brian faced a turning point in his life when he was stranded in a forest which led to loneliness and
hunger. For instance, he had to spend nights alone and hoped they would probably come today (par.2).
Although Brian hoped he would be rescued, his loneliness made him question and when someone
would come to the rescue. This was probably one of the scariest moments in his life because he had
survived a deadly plane crash. Now he thinks they will Probably come in here with amphibious
planes, small bushplanes with floats that could land right here on the lake and pick him up and take
him home (par.4). Furthermore, Brian is now on his own in the forest trying to survive while he waits
to be found. For example, Maybe I should try and figure out just how I stand. It will give

Ruby Bridge Through My Eyes Essay Thesis
Imagine you love to go to this deli and you have been going to that deli your whole life. One day you
walk in and you see everyone staring at you. They say because of your skin color that you re not able
to come back. This actually happened in the 1960 s because Whites thought anyone who was African
American didn t deserve the same goods that Whites did. The African Americans started boycotting
and in 1964 African Americans got the same rights as everyone else.
Segregation affected the people living in the United states in many ways. One way is that African
American kids did not get the same education that Whites did. In Ruby Bridges Through my Eyes,
Ruby takes a test to see if she will get into an all white school. She goes to an all black school and
they don t have the same tools that they do in the all White school. In Segregation, the kids thought
that when they got the same rights they would be able to do the same things like swim. Their parents
were talking about how they would get a better education and make a living out of themselves. ...

In Through my Eyes Ruby s parents ended splitting up in the end because they didn t agree on Ruby
going to school. Ruby s dad though that it was a bad idea for Ruby to go to school and that they
should just do what the whites want. The mom thought that if one of her kids got a chance to get a
better education that Ruby should take it and use it to make a living. In the Watsons go to Birmingham
the mom and dad have disagreements because the mom says they should have stayed in the south and
the dad disagrees. Also they have disagreements where the dad says that in the North they give your
kids integration and none of the segregation nonsense. Then the mom will say at least in the south they

Odysseus Is Not A Heroic Figure In Homer s Odyssey
In the epic poem the Odyssey by Homer, the main character Odysseus is lost on a island with a
goddess Calypso. Odysseus has to go through many obstacles to find his way back home. Some of the
things he has to do to get home hurts other people. Odysseus does things throughout his journey that
clearly show he is not a heroic figure. Odysseus has proven many times that he is not a heroic figure.
His actions convey that he is not heroic at all. Some of the reasons why Odysseus is not heroic at all is
because, he destroys people s homes, lies to his men, and cheats on his wife. One of the reasons
Odysseus is not a heroic figure is because he destroys people s homes. There are many examples in
the story when Odysseus has destroyed other people s home. For example, No man is nameless no
man, good or bad, but gets a name in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of when Odysseus lied to his men was when he didn t tell them about the things Circe
told him would happen. The crew being now silent before me, I addressed them, sore at heart: Dear
friends, more than one man, or two, should know those things Circe foresaw for us and shared with
me, so let me tell her forecast: then we die with our eyes open, if we are going to die, or know what
death we battle if we can (12. 1239, 1242). This proves that Odysseus did not tell his men that Circe
predicted trouble was coming there way. Voices came down to me in anguish calling my name for the
last time (12. 1342, 1343).This is what Odysseus said soon after he just saw some of his men being
eaten. He knew they would have a rough time getting home but he didn t tell them. The consequences
that his men experienced were not fair because they didn t know what would happen. Odysseus is not
heroic because his men were always loyal to him, but he didn t tell them very important information,
that costed them some of their

Explain How The Path A Water Molecule Travels Through The...
1. Describe the path a water molecule takes as it travels through the hydrologic cycle. The
hydrological cycle is a never ending cycle that keeps us alive. The path begins with: Evaporation
when water evaporates in the form of water vapor by the heat of the sun and enters the air.
Transpiration Water enters the air when plants breathe in a process known as transpiration.
Condensation the process which water vapor in the air turns into liquid and forms clouds. Rain drops
often form when water vapor comes in contact with dust in the air. Clouds Clouds are a mass of water
or ice droplets in the air. An example of a cloud next to the earth s surface is fog. Precipitation When
water from clouds falls back to earth as snow, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The oceans cover about 71 percent of the Earth which makes the ocean a key factor in storing and
transferring heat energy around the world. Inconsistency in the heating of the earth gives rise to global
wind patterns. Since the wind patterns are constant, the winds create steady movements in the water
known as currents. When the air blows across the surface of a body of water, the water begins to move
from small waves to larger waves. When the water starts to move it is subject to the Coriolis Effect
(The Coriolis Effect, the pattern of the wind movement and the arrangement of landmasses are
responsible for the large scale patterns of wind driven surface currents in the ocean) and begins to
bend redirecting the water to the right of the direction of the wind in the Northern Hemisphere and to
the left in the Southern Hemisphere. Each hemisphere of an ocean has its very own gyre, a circular
motion of water. In the northern hemisphere the gyres turn clockwise and in the southern hemisphere
it turns counterclockwise. The current that runs south along the coast is the California Current and the
current in the Gulf of Alaska is the Alaskan

Homelessness And Poverty And Homelessness
Imagine a world where it is illegal to sit down. Could you survive if there were no place you were
allowed to fall asleep, to store your belongings, or to stand still? For most of us, these scenarios seem
unrealistic to the point of being ludicrous. But, for homeless people across America, these
circumstances are an ordinary part of life. (National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty 7)
While a portion of today s society turns a blind eye to the subject of the criminalization of
homelessness, an even larger quantity of people are not aware of the situation that is happening in
every major city of America. For those living an affluent lifestyle, it can be difficult to discuss the
amount of poverty and homelessness that is constantly occurring. The definition and meaning behind
the absence of home is also arduous to discuss. While homelessness is commonly associated with
sleeping outside or in provisional areas, this word also identifies with an absence of belonging. This
absence of belonging can relate not only to a community, but also to the people that dwell there
(Baumohl 3). Within the portion of those who are aware of the homelessness situation, there is a
section that detests the poverty stricken persons of our society. These biased members of the American
population express their antipathy in several ways. It is necessary to reveal the privileges that
homeless persons have been violently stripped of, and expose and broadcast the freedom they are
entitled to. Through

Slavery In Huck Finn
Censorship and history: inherently incompatible
It was fifteen minutes before I could work myself up to go and humble myself to a nigger; but I done
it, and I warn t ever sorry for it afterwards, neither (Twain 91). Slavery has been one of the most
influential and shameful institutions in the history of America. From the proliferation of chattel
slavery to its eventual downfall, the peculiar institution of slavery has been a crucial driving force in
the history of the United States. Despite substantial improvement in race relations in America, there is
still tremendous racial tension in American society. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, an
antebellum era novel by Mark Twain, has faced rigid criticism for its use of the n word, but also ...

By exposing Southern hypocrisy and the absurdity of slavery, Twain s novel was pivotal in affecting
Americans perception of black freedmen after the Gilded Age. For example, when Huck befriends Jim
and realizes that they have more in common than that which divides them, Huck exclaims I knowed
he was white inside (Twain 301). Twain s unique satire hides ravaging social commentary behind his
realistic anecdotes, helping further the cause of humanizing beat down slaves, or niggers. Huck Finn is
an iconic novel that must be taught to students in order to ensure our future students do not forget the
enduring struggle of the African American community against prejudice and discrimination nor the
damaging attitudes of intolerant Americans during the antebellum era. Huck Finn is a well crafted,
pragmatic narrative on the horrific consequences of slavery which provides students a bridge to
understanding the far reaching consequences of racism. As articulated by David Bradley on CBS s 60
Minutes segment on Huck Finn, teaching the full, uncensored, shocking novel is the only way to
maximize its message. Removing the n word or banning the novel only prevents teachers and students
from engaging in productive conversations that allow classrooms around the country to accurately
discuss the sensitive topic of race in a safe

A Night with Alberta Essay
A Night with Alberta
On a cold winter Saturday night, a wind whips across Washington Square into the canyons of
Manhattan. Near New York University s main dormitory is a small jazz club. The large tinted front
windows at street level and the subdued lighting might make a visitor think of an abandoned
storefront. However, this small place is where magic can happen. The Cookery is a portal between the
present and the past.
Entering the club, the host finds my new wife and me a seat. This is both polite and practical for the
fresh snow renders the newest patrons blind at first. Once seated at the postage stamped sized tables,
the eyes begin to adjust. The cold weather and the premium for space has made it very cramped. Fur

We quickly pour the beers into the glasses and return the bottles to the waitress to save space. I begin
to wonder about the menu I noticed upon entering. This table no bigger than my chair could never
support the space required for a meal for one.
Suddenly the piano and bass start playing in the stage area. This catches most of the audience by
surprise, as conversations abruptly curtail. They play their warm up pieces with a joy and lightness
that comes only from familiarity. Once these tunes finish and all of the obligatory drinks are paid for,
the owner of the club begins his introduction of tonight s entertainment.
I strain in my seat to see the owner, but to no avail. He tells us the story of this singer s life. In the
Thirties, she was the toast of Europe and she sang opposite Paul Robeson in the London production of
Show Boat. In the Fifties, she left the limelight to become a nurse. The death of her mother made her
to want to return something to society. This is a story I already know, for she is why I am here. My
eyes wander around the room as I wonder if no one here tonight knows this story. My roaming eyes
catch something in the back of the room. An old black woman slowly ascends some stairs back here
into the room, her body grudgingly complying with her wishes to climb the stairs. When the owner
announces her name, she taps her hips and strides the last two steps up the stairs and onto the stage.

Potential Risk Scenarios for each objectives respectively
1. There s a potential risk of delegating one person manipulating the recording and authorizing of the
payroll accounts.
2. There s a considerable risk that an employee will not turn in the timesheet in a timely manner, and
so will not be paid.
3. There s a probability of the occurrence of significant errors that would likely cause the duplication
of payment to terminated employees as well as variances on the payment to ghost employees.
4. There s a possibility a lack of supporting evidences and requirements to grant the benefit associated

Risk Assessment
POLICY and PROCEDURES IMPLEMENTATION RISK
It is considered as HIGH IMPACT as lack of sufficient direction could result in material payroll
transactions being made in an inappropriate or fraudulent manner. This risk is considered MEDIUM

A Process For The Patient And Family Unit Essay
Cancer survivorship transitioning is a process for the patient and family unit. Patients and families
navigate to a new normal . Current transitioning from oncology care to primary care leaves a gap in
continuity of care. Patients must adapt to a change in the health care regimen. Patients and their
families may feel anxiety, returning to primary care, or patients and their families may have
psychological distress as vigilance becomes more ominous in primary care. Cancer survivors
transitioning from oncology care to primary care at a rural Minnesota health care facility may not
receive the same vigilance of all the biopsychosocial elements obtained in oncology care; there is no
standardization of screening for psychological distress by a cancer survivor in primary care unless
patient and/or family self reports or provider recognizes apparent symptoms of the psychological
distress.
Purpose of Project
The PICOT question is: In cancer survivors and their families residing in a Minnesota rural population
(P), how does the initiation of the Distress Thermometer screening tool to monitor psychological
distress (I) compared to patient self report (C) soften the impact of transitioning to primary care after
oncology care (O) during a three month period (T).
Population Description

Truth Or Falsehood In Ambush By Tim O Brien
Truth or falsehood. That is a common question to everyone, especially parents. In the situation of
Ambush by Tim O Brien, a returning veteran from the Vietnam War is asked if he has ever killed
anyone before by his nine year old daughter. It was a difficult moment, but I did what seemed right,
which was to say, Of course not, ... Mr. O Brien did what he believed was the right thing. He told a lie
to his daughter to spare her the troubles of war and knowing that her father is a killer. That is not the
only reason he spared his daughter from the truth though. He also lied to save himself from the
memory of the incident, which are nightmarish memories to him. Sometimes a parent must lie to save
their children from the horrible truth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the strong points of that argument is that everyone deserves to know the truth, even children. I
say that the truth is important yes, but it can also cause more harm than good. For example, if your
grandmother bakes a chocolate pie and tells you to eat it, but it is the worst pie you have ever eaten in
your life, it would be simpler to tell her that is was good rather than tell her the truth and hurt her
feelings. No good can come from hurting someone s feelings. The truth will often cause that. Another
point that some people use for this argument is that if his daughter found out the truth, she would view
her father as a liar. If that was the case, every child of this planet would view their parents that way.
Children grow up learning about the Easter Bunny, Santa Clause, the Tooth Fairy, and several other
magical beings that do not exist. The sole purpose of those tall tales is the give the children
entertainment and something to look forward to. Parents lie to their children every year, every time
their child loses a tooth. So what is the difference about lying to keep them safe from the

Abstract
In this paper, the main focus will lie on the differences that the librarians and students have when they
tend to retrieve or manage the information that they search through online databases. Furthermore, we
will discuss the importance of the knowledge management and controlled vocabulary as the main
distinction between those librarians who are successful at information retrieval and teaching it and
those students that aren t. We will discuss this under the light of some of the large search engines or
web portals that are available to the librarians and the students as part of their search archives like
Google; highlighting some of the facts that should be known and/or taught about these web portals
before they can be used to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, comparisons of librarians and students showed that the overall advantage of the accurate
collection and retention of data was with the librarians because of the methodologies that they used
top collect the information. The question then remains whether these librarians can efficiently and
effectively teach these students the techniques that they use to gather information and allow them to
exercise the same skills of knowledge management and controlled use of vocabulary and words within
and outside the environment of the libraries (Gadzella and Baloglu, 2003).
There are many academic psychologists and practitioners who have focused on this difference of
success between the librarians and the students when it comes to understanding, retracting, managing
and using the data that they gather fore a topic. Some researches chose to focus on the behaviors,
characteristics, mental abilities and overall skill sets of the two entities to analyze the foundation
behind the differences. There is a generalized belief among the researchers that the differences
between the success of librarians and students does lie in the overall approach to the retrieval of
information and the foundation, mental and personal, behind that approach. Furthermore, many
researchers believe that the ability to retain the facts is also highly dependent upon the value or worth
associated with them search (Gadzella and Baloglu, 2003).

The Assassination of Jfk and His Accomplishments While He...
The Assassination of JFK and his Accomplishments while he was in Office.
The assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy remains a mystery to this day. Some argue that there is
more than one shooter, I personally agree with this theory. Although his presidency was very short, he
made great strides in giving the people what he promised. He most likely would have helped America
in more ways than one and it would have been great to have seen what he would have accomplished.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas at
the Daeley Plaza. On November 24, 1963 a man named Jack Ruby shot and killed Oswald while
Oswald was being transported to another jail. Oswald was the only known person who ... Show more

He was in the marines so he had a great deal of skill in handling guns. He wanted to live in Russia, but
he could not get his visa. When he lived in Dallas, Texas he openly expressed his views of
communism by handing out leaflets. His views greatly conflicted with the views of Kennedy. For less
than six months he worked for the Texas School Depository which is located near Daeley Plaza. The
theory is the Oswald shot Kennedy from the sixth floor of the Depository and hid the gun there. When
the gun was found and examined later, Oswald palm print was found on the barrel on the gun
(Salisbury,1964). During all the chaos Oswald went home to get a pistol. He then returned to the
Depository where he shot Officer Tippet when the officer approached to question him. He was
arrested for killing Officer Tippet and it was not until later JFK 5 that he was linked to the
assassination of Kennedy. He claimed he was innocent on the accounts of shooting both President
Kennedy and Officer Tippet. On November 24, 1963 Oswald was shot and killed by Jack Ruby. There
are theories that Ruby shot Oswald because Ruby didn t want Oswald selling him out if they were
accomplices in the assassination (IMDb.com, Inc., 2008).

Redhead Stereotypes
Life as a redhead is tough when you don t have a soul. It is extremely difficult living life without
sympathy or the inability to be kind towards others. In my mind I feel like I want to do these things,
but being a ginger, I just can t. I want to feel bad for people with blonde, black, brown, or whatever
other color of hair there is, but since I have red hair I just can t. I want to feel bad for all those other
hair colors who don t like as stunning as we do, but I just can t. Living without a soul is the hardest
part of being a redhead, but everything else is gravy.
The redhead stereotypes make me laugh. Obviously the one about us not having a soul, that we

I m the only one at my school with red hair so naturally I get all the attention. The benefits of being a
redhead are incredible. For starters, I never have to worry about the effects of the sun because I am
intelligent and make sure to lather myself with the highest grade of SPF sunblock there is. My
preference is Banana Boat for Men SPF 30, but anything lower than that is unacceptable. The second
benefit of my beautiful hair is all the compliments I receive from older ladies that see me for the first
time. It is almost guaranteed that when I am introduced to a lady who appears to be a grandmother, the
first thing out of her mouth is, Oh My Goodness! I love your hair! So I feel pretty special when that
happens. No other hair color can boast that like we can. Another great benefit of being a redhead is
that people automatically assume that you are a comedian. You can say something and people will
think it is the funniest thing on the planet. People look at redheads and laugh all the time. I like to
think they are laughing with us and not at us though. But this puts a lot of pressure on us because we
have to provide the world with comedy or else it will fall into oblivion perhaps. Probably not, but it is
nice getting recognition from people that we have a sense of humor. The last benefit is the holidays
that we get. If you are a ginger and don t know about National Kiss a GInger day, then you have been
missing out. One day in the whole year where someone kisses you because you have red hair. How
incredible is that? A free kiss because you were born with red hair. In my opinion this is one of the
greatest benefits of being a ginger. In the end people may laugh at us or with us, but they will never

Social And Social Impact On Human Diversity
Social workers must be able to discuss the human behaviors of different groups of people. The
differences of mankind are what is called in social work human diversity. Council on Social Work
Education states that human diversity can be grouped in subgroups that consist of age, color, class,
culture, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and expression, immigration status, political
ideology, race, religion, sex and sexual orientation; (Zastrow Ashman, 2013, p.11). There are social
systems set up by every country. These systems consist of certain subsystems and social structures.
Social Systems Theory is human behavior in it s most complete terms. This theory is set to create a
membership between the members of society. It works to form a union for families, organizations and
others members of society to work together to solve problems. In some parts of the world the social

Aids Awareness By Larry Kramer Essay
In 1987, AIDS awareness activist Larry Kramer in his essay, I Can t Believe You Want to Die, wrote,
AIDS is our holocaust and Reagan is our Hitler. Kramer s metaphor of the AIDS epidemic to the
Holocaust is alluring to draw out parallels of genocide however the analogy stops at the fact that the
Holocaust was deliberate human evil disguised as biological research to solve the Jewish problem ,
while HIV/AIDS was an actual disease without a solution that led to genocidal indifference from
government and medical institutions. However, some processes of genocide such as the classification
and dehumanization of a group of people are seen at the Holocaust in the early twentieth century as
well as the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the late twentieth century. The Holocaust stemmed from Adolf
Hitler s violent interpretation of biology and unwillingness to understand the environmental causes of
disease along with its biological ones. The HIV/AIDS epidemic seems to have striking similarities
[i.e. homosexuality and being Jewish as disease or social other] Holocaust event because the people in
power at the start of the epidemic ignored the biological/biomedical need of the victims while at the
same time political leaders only acknowledged the environmental causes and not the biological. In this

resulted in the genocide of Jews, prisoners of war, and gypsies. It will also discuss the ways

Boccaccio s Use Of Allegory And Satire In The Decameron
The Decameron is a book whose conclusions are shrouded in complexity. As a result, the stories and
overall structure of the book provide scholars plentiful amounts of literary material to analyze. The
book s broad moral structure based mainly on natural will allows Boccaccio to approach multiple
topics, including restraint, desire, sex, misogyny, deceit, social structure, religion, and death, without
becoming constrained by any one topic. Additionally, the individual stories in The Decameron offer
multiple meanings to further expand the interpretive potential of the book. The tenth story of day ten

Williams focuses on Dioneo s last story because she thinks it represents a capitulation to medieval
misogyny and interests. Even with many good ideas and connections, in my opinion, she misconstrues
the ultimate significance of the Griselda story by neglecting Dioneo s reflection at the end of the tale.
Williams focuses on how this story is meant to return the brigata to the medieval expectations of
which they are about to face again. According to Williams, the final story shows how Dioneo
relinquishes all claim to being considered an advocate for social change and instead simply returns to
acting as the primary voice of the author, Giovanni Boccaccio. Central to this claim is Williams belief
that the story returns the brigata to the existing gender roles of medieval society. However, after
reading Petrarch s thorough reworking of the Griselda story to fit a more moralistic stance, Boccaccio
s extreme Griselda story is a satirical criticism of existing gender roles in The Decameron. Ending
with his reflection, Dioneo states that Gualtieri should have married a woman that would have found
another man to warm her wool. Showing the power of the final reflection, Petrarch completely omits it
from his Griselda story, similarly to how he does not include the introductory statements by

Stereotypes In The Looking Glass
The Looking Glass Stereotypes have been apart of society since the beginning. Stereotypes are often a
generalization or assumption of an individual, and can be positive or negative. Stereotypes appear in
the workplace, school, and daily life. There are stereotypes on race, gender, religion, sexuality, social
class, professions, weight, and schooling. One example of stereotyping is if one sees a white American
female with blonde and blue eyes, one may say she s dingy , dumb , and or typical . Now that female
may be an all honor student, but because of a stereotype she was generalized to be the complete
opposite of who she really is. Stereotyping a person based off of their appearance is one of the harmful
effects of stereotypes. Stereotypes are harmful and counterproductive ... Show more content on

Stereotyping a person because of their race is a harmful byproduct in our society. Some racial
stereotypes are all Caucasian people are racist, all Asians are geniuses, all African Americans are good
at sports, and all Hispanics are illegal immigrants. The stereotype of all Caucasian people are racist
originated from the Jim Crow era and slavery era. The stigma of discrimination in the South has left
an everlasting impression and stereotype upon white people. Now Caucasian people are categorized
for being something they aren t, and no matter how much philanthropy one may do it will never be
enough to take away that stereotype. Another belief or stereotype is that all Asians are geniuses. Asian
students are stereotyped to be exceedingly smart in the sciences, maths, and arts. One may say how
can this stereotype be negative, well a person of Asian descent may be held to higher expectations
than they can handle, and if they don t meet those expectations then they might be seen as a failure.
Another stereotype is that all African Americans are good at sports. This stereotype is harmful because
now African Americans are categorized as athletes putting them at a

What Is The Theme Of Foreign By Carol Ann Duffy
Foreign, written by Carol Ann Duffy, is a poem depicting the perspective of an immigrant worker who
lives in unfamiliar surroundings and narrates their experiences. In this dramatic monologue, Duffy
uses language and themes in effective ways that allow readers to interpret the different themes and
ideas to highlight the persona s sense of confusion, feelings, nostalgia, and many more. Through the
use of literary devices, regular structure and varied tones throughout the poem, the author presents
strong themes that can be related to the audience as well as to gain sympathy to the narrator.
In the beginning of Foreign , the persona immediately establish a setting for the readers to be part of.

The narrator describes his scenario and the memories that he has faced during his time in the dismal
dwellings in [the] strange, dark city (Stanza 1, Line 1/2). The narrator describes both the readers and
their own agendas, where both would use the public transport. Work. Sleep. (Stanza 3, Line 1) The
author uses caesura effectively in the first sentence because she is intentionally breaking the flow of
the text to add a new form of perspective. In hindsight, all readers do in fact use a mode of transport,
work, then sleep. It is a cycle that should somehow be broken or taken aware of, so that our lives can
be significant rather than a copy of everybody else. Continuing on, the stanza goes through a deeper
theme of prejudice and discrimination against those who are foreign, such as the persona themselves,
as they describe the imaginative sight of seeing a name for yourself sprayed in red / against a brick
wall. A hate name. Red like blood. (Stanza 3, Line 2/3) This can be interpreted in different ways, once
again, where either this is what the narrator thinks of himself in the strange city of the unknown. An
outcast, marked by a name written in blood, or this is the narrator telling the audience directly what he
has witnessed, and everything is slowly collapsing as if this place were coming to bits before your

1. Background and Decision Issues Dow Química Argentina is considering making a bid to
Petroquímica Bahia Blanca S.A. (PBB) because it was being privatized by the government of
Argentina. PBB, which is located in Bahia Blance, is a major producer of both ethylene and
polyethylene in Argentina. Dow sees this as a very big opportunity for the company to expand its
market, utilize its resources and invest on a company that will eventually become the leading
polyethylene player in Latin America. Dow s vice president of business development for Latin
America, Oscar Vignart, and Luis Marcer, CFO of Dow Química Argentina are building the company

current political and economic conditions of Argentina, exchange rate stabilities, freedom of capital

developed a three stage operational strategy for their future polyethylene expansion in Argentina. The
first stage is the acquisition of the PBB; the second stage is the acquisition of Polisur s two
polyethylene plants and the last stage is building a new ethylene cracker and a polyethylene plant. In

Power In Julius Caesar
Julius Caesar playing at A Noise Within Theatre in May 2015 was designed to exemplify, power and
the abuse of it . With secondary themes such as friendship, allegiance, and the harms of pride,
directors Geoff Elliot and Julia Rodriguez Elliot attempt to turn this classic Shakespearian tragedy into
a play applicable to modern times. As emphasized by Elliot in the program guide, Our Rome is one
that moves through time (Slooboda pg5). Furthermore, the directors set out to highlight government
corruption, the ideals of Democracy, and tyranny; the play Julius Caesar, explores what freedom is
built upon (as stated by Elliot).
The story begins with Caesar s return to Rome after defeating Pompey. A soothsayer warns Caesar of
upcoming danger, but Caesar ignores him and continues with his victory celebration. Cassius Brutus,
now alone and in fear of the ambitious Caesar, believe he will turn the Roman Republic into a
tyrannical monarch and conspire to murder him. He is murdered, just as the soothsayer warned, at the

The Main Fuctions and Features of The Integumentary System...
The integumentary system is a very important part of living. It consists of the skin and its accessory
organs hair, nails, sebaceous, or oil, glands, and the sudoriferous, or sweat, glands. Your skin alone
weighs more than six pounds and covers more than three thousand square inches. The skin to me is
considered customizable because you can alter it in many different ways. Many people pierce the skin
on the ears, face, navel, and genitalia. They also tattoo their skin with permanent ink. The five main
functions of the integumentary system are protection, regulation, sensory reception, absorption, and
secretion.
The first function of the integumentary system is protection. The skin acts as a protective barrier to the

This is because there are millions of nerve endings in the skin that act as sensory receptors. There are
many different sensations you can experience, including pain, hot, cold, pressure, traction, and many
more. Each nerve ending will give you a different sensational experience when the nerve sends the
individual impulse to the brain. When the impulse gets in to the cerebral cortex of the brain, your body
reacts in the appropriate way. If you experience pain, for example, you might cry. The fourth function
of the integumentary system is absorption. The most common use of the absorption factor is through
the use of a transdermal patch. A transdermal patch, not to be confused with a dermal patch, is a
medicated adhesive patch that is placed on the skin to deliver a certain dose of medication through the
skin and in to the bloodstream. An advantage of this method of intake is the dosage intake is
controlled by body heat melting away layers of medication embedded in the adhesive bandage, which
is a time advantage. A disadvantage is a very effective barrier and sometimes the medication is not
absorbed enough to be affective. Transdermal patches are placed on several parts of the body,
depending on what treatment you need. Many transdermal medications include a type of birth control
contraceptive and a medication that prevents motion sickness. The fifth and final function of the
nervous system is secretion. The skin contains millions of sudoriferous glands

expectations were for wolves to hunt nearly any caribou they d come across, paying no attention, at

Ootek about what he had seen today, curious as to why the wolves wouldn t attack the caribou. He

on the weaker ones to keep the caribou strong. Ootek and Mowat now decide to travel back to the

Theme Of And Then There Were None
The novel And Then There Were None contains a number of themes followed as isolation , deception

very well goes with the novel as Justice Wargrave purposely picks a secluded island where none of the

The Effects Of Fire On Different Types Of Vegetation
Introduction
Throughout the history of the world, fire has been a common phenomenon. It has been a constant
companion of humans ever since it was discovered by our ancestors. Wildfires can cause serious
damage, both to property and human life, but can also have various beneficial effects on wilderness
areas. Some plant ecosystems depend on the effects of fire for growth and reproduction, while large
wildfire can possibly have negative ecological effects. The irony is that fire can both be beneficial to
our survival and it can be a destructive force in its nature, which can threaten our very existence as
living organisms.
In South Africa, people have burnt and cleared vegetation resulting in the disturbance of the natural
succession of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The type of vegetation that is burned will classify the type of wildfire. Bush Fire, Brush Fire, Forest
Fire, Veld Fire, Desert Fire, Grass Fire, Hill Fire, Peat Fire and Vegetation Fire, are the main different
types of wildfires.
A wildfire differs in comparison to other fires by its extensive size, the rate at which it can spread from
its original source, its potential to redirect its direction unexpectedly, and its ability to jump across
roads, rivers and firebreaks. Wildfires are characterised by their physical properties such as speed of
propagation , the cause of ignition, the material that is combustible, and the effect of weather on that
specific fire.
Causes of Wildfires
Wildfires are not entirely natural features, hence, are quasi natural hazards. This means that they are
also caused by humans. The four most significant natural causes of wildfire ignitions are lighting,
volcanic eruption, sparks from rock falls and spontaneous combustions (A type of combustion that
occurs by self heating, followed by thermal runaway and finally, ignition occurs). The most frequent
human sources of wildfires are arson, thrown away cigarettes, sparks from working equipment and
power line arcs.
Fuel types for Wildfire
Wildfires spread based on the flammable material that is present, and its vertical arrangement. An
example of this would be, fuels uphill from a fire are more easily

Joan Didion On Keeping A Notebook
While it s a rather misleading title, the essay On Keeping a Notebook by Joan Didion doesn t talk
about how to keep a notebook, but rather why you should. She expresses her belief that a notebook is:
...something private, about bits of the mind s string too short to use, an indiscriminate and erratic
assemblage with meaning only for its maker (Didion, 87) . Which, in other words, means a notebook s
contents are information, often small bits , that would only make sense, or have meaning, to the person
who wrote it. Throughout the essay, Didion describes multiple random things that mean nothing to
her, but were emotionally significant at the time she wrote them. Personally, I thought the tone used
for both telling and talking about those memories seemed very nostalgic to her. Journals can be a way
to remember who we were in the past, how we had thought and things we ve done. Over time we
forget things, and keeping a journal helps us relive both significant and insignificant events in our life
that otherwise would have been blurred, or forgotten over the course of our lives. ... Show more

The Importance Of Water Resources In Africa
Water is one of the vital resources required by every living organism, yet a large percentage of the
earth s people do not have access to an adequate and constant supply of water. In the developing
world, many rural communities are located in water scarce areas, where there is uneven distribution of
hydrological resources and economic and/or political barriers to pipe and distribute water from the
ground or surface (UN, 2014). People living in developing and under developed countries live with
unsanitary conditions where their everyday survival is the main concern. They are exposed to drought,
famine and death as a result of water borne diseases come from unclean water sources and food
shortage as a result of inability of land to grow crops. The problem of accessing fresh water will be
more costly and difficult and it has become more wide even in developed countries (Rosegrant et al.,
2002). Climate change and a developing water resource interest for agricultural and urban
development are increasing the pressure on water resources and variability of the hydrological regime.
By the year 2020 between 75 and 250 million people will be exposed to highly increased water stress
in Africa, in some regions of the continent, 50% of yield and agricultural production will become
more severely compromised as a result of food shortage (Ammar et al., 2016). Natural disaster,
climate change and dramatic increase of human population, effect on food security, human and animal

Analysis Of To A Daughter Leaving Home By Linda Pastan
The author Linda Pastan, imagines a parent running breathlessly to regain her strength from the
ending connection she once shared with her daughter in her poem, To a Daughter Leaving Home. It s a
mother s biggest fear when it comes to their child or children leaving home while going their own
ways when the time is right. This poem is based on childhood, fatherhood, and even motherhood.
Linda Pastan made this poem include various forms of figurative language to hide the literal message
that it s trying to portray. Figurative language is using figures of speech to make the text be more
powerful, persuasive, and meaningful. Figures of speech such as, similes and metaphors, go beyond
the literal meanings to give the readers a new way of looking at the text. It can come in multiple ways
with different literacy and rhetorical devices such as: alliteration, imageries, onomatopoeias, and etc.
With the usage of the literary devices Pastan has used, it introduced the relationship between the
mother and the daughter. It shows the memories of how the mother helped her daughter grow from a
little girl to a young adult getting ready to go her own way in life.
Linda Pastan s poem, To a Daughter Leaving Home, is represented as a metaphor because it s
comparing the bike ride to the relationship between the mother and daughter. The author describes the
mother going along side her eight year old daughter as she rides her bicycle (Pastan 915). The
daughter wobbled away (Pastan 915). This happens to be an example of imagery because it gives a
visual description of how the daughter was riding her bike. As she rides the bike further along, the
mother gets surprised by the way the daughter seemed to be in control of the bike as she goes down a
curved path of the park (Pastan 915).
Besides giving a visual description Linda uses symbolism to symbolize life. The phrase a curved path
represents life by it being joyous, unpredictable, and dangerous. Life doesn t go in a straight line, just
a curved one. Pastan s use of onomatopoeias in the poem allows the reader to hear what is going on in
the poem. For example, she used the words thud and crash to make the reader visualize the way the
daughter rides the bike (Pastan

Welch Mission Statement
Critical Analysis:
In order for corporations to be categorized winning corporations, there must be a set foundation that
allows the corporation and the agents inside it, to move as a cohesive unit towards one mission. A
clear mission is important because it is the base of the creation of a strategic plan in obtaining the
results desired by the corporation. It is much easier to map out the plan towards a clear, concrete, and
descriptive mission statement than one that can be misinterpreted by the employees making the calls
within the corporation. But for a company s mission and values to truly work together as a winning
proposition, they have to be mutually reinforcing (Welch 21). When the goal is not clear, it is hard to

Welch claims that anyone brought into the corporation should have the first two E s, the ones which
are characteristics of a candidate s personality, energy and energize. When energy is talked about, it is

energize is the capability to make people feel pumped up and ready to tackle a task and stay on
routine. These two qualities everyone in the corporation should have as well as intelligence (different
than education), maturity, and integrity. Choosing a manager can be tricky but there are more traits
that are needed in order to be a winning manager; the ability to foresight, authenticity, seeking the
smartest people to associate around, and resilience. An effective manager is extremely important
because they are the people who emphasize on the mission and make the goals a reality through their

Theme Of Ambition In Julius Caesar
And to speak truth of Caesar, I have not known when his affections swayed more than his reason. But
tis a common proof that lowliness is a young ambition s ladder, whereto the climber upward turns his
face. But when he once attains the upmost round,he then unto the ladder turns his back, looks to the
clouds, scorning the base degrees by which he did ascend.(II,i,19 27) In this part of his soliloquy,
Brutus is convincing himself that Caesar is going to climb the ladder of ambition and become a tyrant.
He doesn t give valid facts to prove this, just the possibility. Brutus doesn t trust the leader of the
conspiracy, Cassius, but joins him anyway. Even though he doesn t trust him, he let s himself be
flattered and tricked by Cassius. Brutus says he trusts Caesar and that he is his friend. If that was true
he wouldn t have to kill him. Also, Brutus says he will do anything for honor, and the conspirators say
that they are doing an honorable thing yet they hide in the shadows.
Brutus is very good at persuading people; he convinced himself to kill his best friend. He doesn t give

Will you think about different things you want, staying positive when things go bad, and what growing up means, like all these characters? Brian from Hatchet, Moon Shadow from Dragonwings, and Rachel from Eleven all faced turning point experiences that changed their life and what they thought. This made them understand certain things in life. No matter what you characters went through is what you might face one time. Nobody has perfect life or choices. think, you will face a turning point in your life and will also face problems. What all these Brian, Moon Shadow, and Rachel now know what to do in these similar problems. Brian faced a turning point in his life when he was stranded in a forest which led to loneliness and hunger. For instance, he had to spend nights alone and hoped they would probably come today (par.2). Although Brian hoped he would be rescued, his loneliness made him question and when someone would come to the rescue. This was probably one of the scariest moments in his life because he had survived a deadly plane crash. Now he thinks they will Probably come in here with amphibious planes, small bushplanes with floats that could land right here on the lake and pick him up and take him home (par.4). Furthermore, Brian is now on his own in the forest trying to survive while he waits to be found. For example, Maybe I should try and figure out just how I stand. It will give ... • 3. Ruby Bridge Through My Eyes Essay Thesis Imagine you love to go to this deli and you have been going to that deli your whole life. One day you walk in and you see everyone staring at you. They say because of your skin color that you re not able to come back. This actually happened in the 1960 s because Whites thought anyone who was African American didn t deserve the same goods that Whites did. The African Americans started boycotting and in 1964 African Americans got the same rights as everyone else. Segregation affected the people living in the United states in many ways. One way is that African American kids did not get the same education that Whites did. In Ruby Bridges Through my Eyes, Ruby takes a test to see if she will get into an all white school. She goes to an all black school and they don t have the same tools that they do in the all White school. In Segregation, the kids thought that when they got the same rights they would be able to do the same things like swim. Their parents were talking about how they would get a better education and make a living out of themselves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Through my Eyes Ruby s parents ended splitting up in the end because they didn t agree on Ruby going to school. Ruby s dad though that it was a bad idea for Ruby to go to school and that they should just do what the whites want. The mom thought that if one of her kids got a chance to get a better education that Ruby should take it and use it to make a living. In the Watsons go to Birmingham the mom and dad have disagreements because the mom says they should have stayed in the south and the dad disagrees. Also they have disagreements where the dad says that in the North they give your kids integration and none of the segregation nonsense. Then the mom will say at least in the south they say what they mean and don t keep lying to look ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Odysseus Is Not A Heroic Figure In Homer s Odyssey In the epic poem the Odyssey by Homer, the main character Odysseus is lost on a island with a goddess Calypso. Odysseus has to go through many obstacles to find his way back home. Some of the things he has to do to get home hurts other people. Odysseus does things throughout his journey that clearly show he is not a heroic figure. Odysseus has proven many times that he is not a heroic figure. His actions convey that he is not heroic at all. Some of the reasons why Odysseus is not heroic at all is because, he destroys people s homes, lies to his men, and cheats on his wife. One of the reasons Odysseus is not a heroic figure is because he destroys people s homes. There are many examples in the story when Odysseus has destroyed other people s home. For example, No man is nameless no man, good or bad, but gets a name in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One example of when Odysseus lied to his men was when he didn t tell them about the things Circe told him would happen. The crew being now silent before me, I addressed them, sore at heart: Dear friends, more than one man, or two, should know those things Circe foresaw for us and shared with me, so let me tell her forecast: then we die with our eyes open, if we are going to die, or know what death we battle if we can (12. 1239, 1242). This proves that Odysseus did not tell his men that Circe predicted trouble was coming there way. Voices came down to me in anguish calling my name for the last time (12. 1342, 1343).This is what Odysseus said soon after he just saw some of his men being eaten. He knew they would have a rough time getting home but he didn t tell them. The consequences that his men experienced were not fair because they didn t know what would happen. Odysseus is not heroic because his men were always loyal to him, but he didn t tell them very important information, that costed them some of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Explain How The Path A Water Molecule Travels Through The... 1. Describe the path a water molecule takes as it travels through the hydrologic cycle. The hydrological cycle is a never ending cycle that keeps us alive. The path begins with: Evaporation when water evaporates in the form of water vapor by the heat of the sun and enters the air. Transpiration Water enters the air when plants breathe in a process known as transpiration. Condensation the process which water vapor in the air turns into liquid and forms clouds. Rain drops often form when water vapor comes in contact with dust in the air. Clouds Clouds are a mass of water or ice droplets in the air. An example of a cloud next to the earth s surface is fog. The oceans cover about 71 percent of the Earth which makes the ocean a key factor in storing and transferring heat energy around the world. Inconsistency in the heating of the earth gives rise to global wind patterns. Since the wind patterns are constant, the winds create steady movements in the water known as currents. When the air blows across the surface of a body of water, the water begins to move from small waves to larger waves. When the water starts to move it is subject to the Coriolis Effect (The Coriolis Effect, the pattern of the wind movement and the arrangement of landmasses are responsible for the large scale patterns of wind driven surface currents in the ocean) and begins to bend redirecting the water to the right of the direction of the wind in the Northern Hemisphere and to the left in the Southern Hemisphere. Each hemisphere of an ocean has its very own gyre, a circular motion of water. In the northern hemisphere the gyres turn clockwise and in the southern hemisphere it turns counterclockwise. • 6. Homelessness And Poverty And Homelessness Imagine a world where it is illegal to sit down. Could you survive if there were no place you were allowed to fall asleep, to store your belongings, or to stand still? For most of us, these scenarios seem unrealistic to the point of being ludicrous. But, for homeless people across America, these circumstances are an ordinary part of life. (National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty 7) While a portion of today s society turns a blind eye to the subject of the criminalization of homelessness, an even larger quantity of people are not aware of the situation that is happening in every major city of America. For those living an affluent lifestyle, it can be difficult to discuss the amount of poverty and homelessness that is constantly occurring. The definition and meaning behind the absence of home is also arduous to discuss. While homelessness is commonly associated with sleeping outside or in provisional areas, this word also identifies with an absence of belonging. This absence of belonging can relate not only to a community, but also to the people that dwell there (Baumohl 3). Within the portion of those who are aware of the homelessness situation, there is a section that detests the poverty stricken persons of our society. These biased members of the American population express their antipathy in several ways. It is necessary to reveal the privileges that homeless persons have been violently stripped of, and expose and broadcast the freedom they are entitled to. Through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Slavery In Huck Finn Censorship and history: inherently incompatible It was fifteen minutes before I could work myself up to go and humble myself to a nigger; but I done it, and I warn t ever sorry for it afterwards, neither (Twain 91). Slavery has been one of the most influential and shameful institutions in the history of America. From the proliferation of chattel slavery to its eventual downfall, the peculiar institution of slavery has been a crucial driving force in the history of the United States. Despite substantial improvement in race relations in America, there is still tremendous racial tension in American society. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, an antebellum era novel by Mark Twain, has faced rigid criticism for its use of the n word, but also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By exposing Southern hypocrisy and the absurdity of slavery, Twain s novel was pivotal in affecting Americans perception of black freedmen after the Gilded Age. For example, when Huck befriends Jim and realizes that they have more in common than that which divides them, Huck exclaims I knowed he was white inside (Twain 301). Twain s unique satire hides ravaging social commentary behind his realistic anecdotes, helping further the cause of humanizing beat down slaves, or niggers. Huck Finn is an iconic novel that must be taught to students in order to ensure our future students do not forget the enduring struggle of the African American community against prejudice and discrimination nor the damaging attitudes of intolerant Americans during the antebellum era. Huck Finn is a well crafted, pragmatic narrative on the horrific consequences of slavery which provides students a bridge to understanding the far reaching consequences of racism. As articulated by David Bradley on CBS s 60 Minutes segment on Huck Finn, teaching the full, uncensored, shocking novel is the only way to maximize its message. Removing the n word or banning the novel only prevents teachers and students from engaging in productive conversations that allow classrooms around the country to accurately discuss the sensitive topic of race in a safe ... Once these tunes finish and all of the obligatory drinks are paid for, the owner of the club begins his introduction of tonight s entertainment. I strain in my seat to see the owner, but to no avail. In the situation of Ambush by Tim O Brien, a returning veteran from the Vietnam War is asked if he has ever killed anyone before by his nine year old daughter. It was a difficult moment, but I did what seemed right, which was to say, Of course not, ... Mr. O Brien did what he believed was the right thing. He told a lie to his daughter to spare her the troubles of war and knowing that her father is a killer. That is not the only reason he spared his daughter from the truth though. He also lied to save himself from the memory of the incident, which are nightmarish memories to him. Sometimes a parent must lie to save their children from the horrible truth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the strong points of that argument is that everyone deserves to know the truth, even children. I say that the truth is important yes, but it can also cause more harm than good. For example, if your grandmother bakes a chocolate pie and tells you to eat it, but it is the worst pie you have ever eaten in your life, it would be simpler to tell her that is was good rather than tell her the truth and hurt her feelings. No good can come from hurting someone s feelings. The truth will often cause that. Another point that some people use for this argument is that if his daughter found out the truth, she would view her father as a liar. If that was the case, every child of this planet would view their parents that way. Children grow up learning about the Easter Bunny, Santa Clause, the Tooth Fairy, and several other magical beings that do not exist. The sole purpose of those tall tales is the give the children entertainment and something to look forward to. Parents lie to their children every year, every time their child loses a tooth. Kramer s metaphor of the AIDS epidemic to the Holocaust is alluring to draw out parallels of genocide however the analogy stops at the fact that the Holocaust was deliberate human evil disguised as biological research to solve the Jewish problem , while HIV/AIDS was an actual disease without a solution that led to genocidal indifference from government and medical institutions. However, some processes of genocide such as the classification and dehumanization of a group of people are seen at the Holocaust in the early twentieth century as well as the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the late twentieth century. The Holocaust stemmed from Adolf Hitler s violent interpretation of biology and unwillingness to understand the environmental causes of disease along with its biological ones. The HIV/AIDS epidemic seems to have striking similarities [i.e. homosexuality and being Jewish as disease or social other] Holocaust event because the people in power at the start of the epidemic ignored the biological/biomedical need of the victims while at the same time political leaders only acknowledged the environmental causes and not the biological. The book s broad moral structure based mainly on natural will allows Boccaccio to approach multiple topics, including restraint, desire, sex, misogyny, deceit, social structure, religion, and death, without becoming constrained by any one topic. Additionally, the individual stories in The Decameron offer multiple meanings to further expand the interpretive potential of the book. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Williams focuses on Dioneo s last story because she thinks it represents a capitulation to medieval misogyny and interests. Even with many good ideas and connections, in my opinion, she misconstrues the ultimate significance of the Griselda story by neglecting Dioneo s reflection at the end of the tale. Williams focuses on how this story is meant to return the brigata to the medieval expectations of which they are about to face again. According to Williams, the final story shows how Dioneo relinquishes all claim to being considered an advocate for social change and instead simply returns to acting as the primary voice of the author, Giovanni Boccaccio. Central to this claim is Williams belief that the story returns the brigata to the existing gender roles of medieval society. However, after reading Petrarch s thorough reworking of the Griselda story to fit a more moralistic stance, Boccaccio s extreme Griselda story is a satirical criticism of existing gender roles in The Decameron. Ending with his reflection, Dioneo states that Gualtieri should have married a woman that would have found another man to warm her wool. There are many different sensations you can experience, including pain, hot, cold, pressure, traction, and many more. Each nerve ending will give you a different sensational experience when the nerve sends the individual impulse to the brain. When the impulse gets in to the cerebral cortex of the brain, your body reacts in the appropriate way. If you experience pain, for example, you might cry. The fourth function of the integumentary system is absorption. The most common use of the absorption factor is through the use of a transdermal patch. A transdermal patch, not to be confused with a dermal patch, is a medicated adhesive patch that is placed on the skin to deliver a certain dose of medication through the skin and in to the bloodstream. An advantage of this method of intake is the dosage intake is controlled by body heat melting away layers of medication embedded in the adhesive bandage, which is a time advantage. A disadvantage is a very effective barrier and sometimes the medication is not absorbed enough to be affective. Transdermal patches are placed on several parts of the body, depending on what treatment you need. Many transdermal medications include a type of birth control contraceptive and a medication that prevents motion sickness. The fifth and final function of the nervous system is secretion. The skin contains millions of sudoriferous glands ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Farley Mowat Case Study Ch. 1 3 Farley Mowat has been hired to work for the Dominion Wildlife Service. His chief has given Mowat the task to find out why wolves have really been killing deer, after being confronted with the situation that the amount of deer, hunters have been able to find, has immensely decreased. Accepting this assignment, he takes a flight from Ottawa to Churchill, seemingly prepared with a great amount of baggage and material. In Churchill, he experiences a delay in his investigation due to his directions lacking in context and specificness, until a pilot arrives and agrees to take him north, where there is an adequate population of wolf. After experiencing more difficulties with the plane itself, they finally land near a mile wide valley between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After a few days, Ootek suddenly leaves to go hunting with his friends, which gives Mowat the opportunity to relax and explore things by himself. He comes across a small pack of wolves who he observes as they walk along a valley filled with caribou, bemused as although each species was obviously fully aware of the presence of the other, neither seemed perturbed, or even greatly interested. (p191) This continues to occur until one of the wolves would go after caribou who would ve easily outrunned the wolf, and then go back to the group, which increases his bewilderment as his expectations were for wolves to hunt nearly any caribou they d come across, paying no attention, at the time, to the story Ootek had told Mowat. As Mowat decides to charge at the wolves for whatever reason, only then had the animals been frightened and stampeded in escape, soon realizing that it was him, who was the cause of the panic, not the wolves as he had previously expected. Later, he asks Ootek about what he had seen today, curious as to why the wolves wouldn t attack the caribou. He learns that any healthy caribou can easily outrun a wolf, and, referring to his story, the wolves only fed on the weaker ones to keep the caribou strong. Ootek and Mowat now decide to travel back to the Wolf House Bay where they see Angelina, George, Uncle Albert, a stranger, and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Theme Of And Then There Were None The novel And Then There Were None contains a number of themes followed as isolation , deception and lies , sin and blame , good vs. evil , justice and judgment , mortality . So the theme of isolation very well goes with the novel as Justice Wargrave purposely picks a secluded island where none of the ten members can escape from themselves; the need to hold and inspect the deaths that they have created as a part of their penance. • 30. The Effects Of Fire On Different Types Of Vegetation Introduction Throughout the history of the world, fire has been a common phenomenon. It has been a constant companion of humans ever since it was discovered by our ancestors. Wildfires can cause serious damage, both to property and human life, but can also have various beneficial effects on wilderness areas. Some plant ecosystems depend on the effects of fire for growth and reproduction, while large wildfire can possibly have negative ecological effects. The irony is that fire can both be beneficial to our survival and it can be a destructive force in its nature, which can threaten our very existence as living organisms. In South Africa, people have burnt and cleared vegetation resulting in the disturbance of the natural succession of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The type of vegetation that is burned will classify the type of wildfire. Bush Fire, Brush Fire, Forest Fire, Veld Fire, Desert Fire, Grass Fire, Hill Fire, Peat Fire and Vegetation Fire, are the main different types of wildfires. A wildfire differs in comparison to other fires by its extensive size, the rate at which it can spread from its original source, its potential to redirect its direction unexpectedly, and its ability to jump across roads, rivers and firebreaks. Wildfires are characterised by their physical properties such as speed of propagation , the cause of ignition, the material that is combustible, and the effect of weather on that specific fire. Causes of Wildfires Wildfires are not entirely natural features, hence, are quasi natural hazards. This means that they are also caused by humans. The four most significant natural causes of wildfire ignitions are lighting, volcanic eruption, sparks from rock falls and spontaneous combustions (A type of combustion that occurs by self heating, followed by thermal runaway and finally, ignition occurs). The most frequent human sources of wildfires are arson, thrown away cigarettes, sparks from working equipment and power line arcs. Fuel types for Wildfire Wildfires spread based on the flammable material that is present, and its vertical arrangement. An example of this would be, fuels uphill from a fire are more easily ... • 31. Joan Didion On Keeping A Notebook While it s a rather misleading title, the essay On Keeping a Notebook by Joan Didion doesn t talk about how to keep a notebook, but rather why you should. She expresses her belief that a notebook is: ...something private, about bits of the mind s string too short to use, an indiscriminate and erratic assemblage with meaning only for its maker (Didion, 87) . Which, in other words, means a notebook s contents are information, often small bits , that would only make sense, or have meaning, to the person who wrote it. Throughout the essay, Didion describes multiple random things that mean nothing to her, but were emotionally significant at the time she wrote them. Personally, I thought the tone used for both telling and talking about those memories seemed very nostalgic to her. Journals can be a way to remember who we were in the past, how we had thought and things we ve done. Over time we forget things, and keeping a journal helps us relive both significant and insignificant events in our life that otherwise would have been blurred, or forgotten over the course of our lives. ... • 32. The Importance Of Water Resources In Africa Water is one of the vital resources required by every living organism, yet a large percentage of the earth s people do not have access to an adequate and constant supply of water. In the developing world, many rural communities are located in water scarce areas, where there is uneven distribution of hydrological resources and economic and/or political barriers to pipe and distribute water from the ground or surface (UN, 2014). People living in developing and under developed countries live with unsanitary conditions where their everyday survival is the main concern. They are exposed to drought, famine and death as a result of water borne diseases come from unclean water sources and food shortage as a result of inability of land to grow crops. The problem of accessing fresh water will be more costly and difficult and it has become more wide even in developed countries (Rosegrant et al., 2002). Climate change and a developing water resource interest for agricultural and urban development are increasing the pressure on water resources and variability of the hydrological regime. By the year 2020 between 75 and 250 million people will be exposed to highly increased water stress in Africa, in some regions of the continent, 50% of yield and agricultural production will become more severely compromised as a result of food shortage (Ammar et al., 2016). • 33. Analysis Of To A Daughter Leaving Home By Linda Pastan The author Linda Pastan, imagines a parent running breathlessly to regain her strength from the ending connection she once shared with her daughter in her poem, To a Daughter Leaving Home. It s a mother s biggest fear when it comes to their child or children leaving home while going their own ways when the time is right. This poem is based on childhood, fatherhood, and even motherhood. Linda Pastan made this poem include various forms of figurative language to hide the literal message that it s trying to portray. Figurative language is using figures of speech to make the text be more powerful, persuasive, and meaningful. Figures of speech such as, similes and metaphors, go beyond the literal meanings to give the readers a new way of looking at the text. It can come in multiple ways with different literacy and rhetorical devices such as: alliteration, imageries, onomatopoeias, and etc. With the usage of the literary devices Pastan has used, it introduced the relationship between the mother and the daughter. It shows the memories of how the mother helped her daughter grow from a little girl to a young adult getting ready to go her own way in life. Linda Pastan s poem, To a Daughter Leaving Home, is represented as a metaphor because it s comparing the bike ride to the relationship between the mother and daughter. The author describes the mother going along side her eight year old daughter as she rides her bicycle (Pastan 915). The daughter wobbled away (Pastan 915). This happens to be an example of imagery because it gives a visual description of how the daughter was riding her bike. As she rides the bike further along, the mother gets surprised by the way the daughter seemed to be in control of the bike as she goes down a curved path of the park (Pastan 915). Besides giving a visual description Linda uses symbolism to symbolize life. The phrase a curved path represents life by it being joyous, unpredictable, and dangerous. Life doesn t go in a straight line, just a curved one. Pastan s use of onomatopoeias in the poem allows the reader to hear what is going on in the poem. For example, she used the words thud and crash to make the reader visualize the way the daughter rides the bike (Pastan ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Welch Mission Statement Critical Analysis: In order for corporations to be categorized winning corporations, there must be a set foundation that allows the corporation and the agents inside it, to move as a cohesive unit towards one mission. A clear mission is important because it is the base of the creation of a strategic plan in obtaining the results desired by the corporation. It is much easier to map out the plan towards a clear, concrete, and descriptive mission statement than one that can be misinterpreted by the employees making the calls within the corporation. But for a company s mission and values to truly work together as a winning proposition, they have to be mutually reinforcing (Welch 21). But tis a common proof that lowliness is a young ambition s ladder, whereto the climber upward turns his face. But when he once attains the upmost round,he then unto the ladder turns his back, looks to the clouds, scorning the base degrees by which he did ascend.(II,i,19 27) In this part of his soliloquy, Brutus is convincing himself that Caesar is going to climb the ladder of ambition and become a tyrant. He doesn t give valid facts to prove this, just the possibility. Brutus doesn t trust the leader of the conspiracy, Cassius, but joins him anyway. Even though he doesn t trust him, he let s himself be flattered and tricked by Cassius. Brutus says he trusts Caesar and that he is his friend. If that was true he wouldn t have to kill him. Also, Brutus says he will do anything for honor, and the conspirators say that they are doing an honorable thing yet they hide in the shadows. Brutus is very good at persuading people; he convinced himself to kill his best friend. He doesn t give facts to prove that Caesar will become a horrible tyrant, just the possibility.
