The Influence Of Observational Learning
This observation was done in home setting were Maya was doing her daily morning activities. She
dumped the clothes from the hamper on the floor and began to separate the clothes into light and dark
colors. She picked up three or four articles of light clothing at a time and put them in the washer. She
then moved all the dark clothes with her foot into the corner of the laundry room. She walked at a fast
pace out of the laundry room to a storage closet and took out a vacuum. She took the vacuum to the
master bedroom, set it by the door and went to make the bed. She first pulled off all of the pillows and
blankets off on to the floor. She then fixed the fitted sheet and then the one on top of that. She went

Observational learning means that a person learns by observing the behavior or actions of others
(Sigelman Rider, 2015). Maya learned at an early age by observing her mother that a morning routine
involved doing household work. Her muscle memory allowed her to remember how to perform all of
the tasks that she as a child had observed her mother doing. This also allowed her to be able to stay
moving and not take a break between different chores. At age 58, she seemed to move with ease and
did not need any help in completing her morning routine. Another theory that has helped influence
Maya s physical development. Her microsystem involves her mother and what she taught her when if
came to household work. Her macrosystem involves her culture. Sigelman and Rider (2015) suggest
that culture is often defined as the shared understandings and way of life of a people, including beliefs
and practices concerning the nature of humans in different phases of lifespan, what children need to be
taught to function in society, and how people should lead their lives as adults (p. 52). Growing up in
Mexico Maya s culture taught girls at an early age that the woman of the home was in charge of
maintaining the home clean and perfect. Her physical development was influenced by the fact that as a
child she had no choice but to do all of these chores that she would

The Importance of Vitamin D Essay
Getting some sun is essential to human health despite the risks of the skin cancer. There is much more
benefits that come with the exposure to the sun than harm. Vitamin D that our body produces when we
are exposed to the sun is very efficient in curing so many diseases. It protects from arthritis, diabetes,
infectious diseases, multiple sclerosis and some kinds of cancer, just to name a few. It has been proven
that the Earth s atmosphere blocks 98.7 percent of the sun s UV rays. The other 2.3 percent that we are
exposed to, have both beneficial and harmful effects. We do need to focus on the benefits, because we
have way more of them. The only harm it does to our body is skin cancer, which by being more
careful we can protect from. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has many different negative effects, like growth retardation, skeletal deformation and softening of
the skull (Holick, 2008). In Europe doctors prescribe vitamin D for infants to prevent those kinds of
problems, and also they recommend daily walks in the sun. That is why the children in Europe don t
have rickets as often as in United States. The doctors here depend on the vitamins that are in the
formula, but it is not enough. A study published in Archives of Internal Medicine found that 75 percent
or more of American teens and adults are deficient in Vitamin D. That is why we have so many serious
illnesses, like cancer, diabetes and heart disease (Huff, 2010). Infectious diseases are more seen in
people living in places with less sun during winter months, we know those as influenza virus or
simply cold. The sun in those places is unable to produce vitamin D and that is why we get sick so
often. The people that live in the warm places, where the vitamin D is produced all year round, don t
get sick as often (Holick, 2008). Diabetes is a very big problem in United States, but if we listen to
what researchers had found, we can try to prevent people from getting this disease by staying in the
sun. It has been proven that it can lower 80 percent, if we start giving our infants 2,000 IU of vitamin
D during the first year of life. The research also shows

How Selection On Behavior Shapes Brain Investment
Understanding how selection on behavior shapes brain investment is a major question in the analysis
of the evolution of animal sociality [Szathmary and Maynard Smith, 1995; Edelman and Changeux,
2001; Ricklefs, 2004; Gronenberg and Riveros, 2009]. Neural tissue is energetically expensive and
therefore brain regions should only enlarge when needed to meet functional demands [Niven and
Laughlin, 2008]. The social brain hypothesis posits that social interactions are so cognitively
demanding that social environment selects for enhanced neural development [Humphrey, 1976;
Dunbar and Shultz, 2007]. Studies supporting the social brain hypothesis usually rely on comparative
analyses across taxa with varying levels of social complexity and use ... Show more content on

To date only two brain investment studies on solitary and facultatively social bees are reported. A
study on solitary bees, Osmia lignaria found that adults emerge with neuronal development typical of
experienced workers in advanced eusocial insect species, but also found that mushroom body neuropil
volume further increased with foraging experience [Withers et al., 2007]. These results confirm that
mushroom bodies are important for cognitive processes in solitary antecedents, but cannot inform us
on the role of social experience on neuropil investment. Smith et al. [2010] examined brain size and
development using the facultatively social bee Megalopta genalis, a species with both solitary and
primitively social colonies in the same populations. Mushroom body size increased with foraging
behavior in solitary individuals and workers compared to newly emerged M. genalis females, but even
greater mushroom body development was found in queens. Smith et al. [2010] attributed enhanced
growth of the mushroom body cortex to maintaining behavioral dominance. Much like obligately
eusocial bees, however, Megalopta are bees with distinct reproductive (queens) and foraging
(workers) roles and therefore the relative roles of foraging and social experience are not

Essay about 5 Ways to Bust California’s Drought
The California water drought has been declared a crisis by the governor of California. 2013 was the
driest year on record, and California could be running out of water. Californians should be water wise,
and their use, or no use, of water will have an enormous impact on this drought. They can use the
techniques published in a recent Time article called, 5 Ways to Bust California s Drought, to reduce
their water use. Landscape techniques, alternate water sources, and the personal conservation of water
can reduce the use of water, and can have a positive change on this water crisis.
Landscaping techniques, such as drip irrigation and xeriscaping can reduce California s use of water
immensely. Eighty Percent of the state s developed water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Desalination technology converts the tons of seawater that cover s California s coast into drinkable
water. This process, though expensive and difficult, would provide California with an endless supply
of water. The ocean is a huge part of the California lifestyle, and it could become a huge source of
their water supply too. The Groundwater Replenishment System recycles water to be used again. It
takes in about seventy million gallons of waste water a day and puts it through a cleaning and
purifying process, that then makes this water safe enough to drink. Many people may not be
comfortable with drinking recycled water, but this water could be put to use in landscaping and
farming, adding seventy million extra gallons a day. The desalination process may be a bit far fetched
for now, but using a water recycling program is completely feasible and would be a huge help in
reducing California s use of water. (only its not reducing, its just providing them with more water to
use yknow? how should I phrase that?)
Conservation is the technique that every California Citizen should participate in if the care about the
California water crisis. The average Californian home uses almost two hundred gallons of water a day,
but cutting five minutes off of ones shower time can save up to twenty five gallons of water a day. A
shorter shower time should be implemented by California residents, as well as other simple lifestyle
changes, such as turning the water off while brushing

Mr Hyde Dualism
The debate of whether man is born entirely good or evil is a universal discussion that never seems to
resolve. Even though a human is a complex individual who cannot be defined by a simple assessment,
the people of today are convinced that there is a straightforward explanation as to why acts of
wickedness exist. Some believe negative influences taint the naturally innocent heart of man, while
others suppose evil men are born with an unavoidable capacity for darkness. This however, suggests
that the wicked are created from birth without morals or the ability to be considered righteous. Despite
the theories that exist, good and evil are not always separate. Man typically is neither solely good or
bad, but a combination of the both. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Jekyll is tall and old while Hyde is short and young. In Jekyll s confession, he explains
that The evil side of my nature, to which I had now transferred the stamping efficacy, was less robust
and less developed than the good which I had just deposed. Again, in the course of my life, which had
been, after all, nine tenths a life of effort, virtue, and control, it had been much less exercised and
much less exhausted (Stevenson 107). Since Jekyll hides away his evil tendencies, Hyde is fresh and
new just like a child, clarifying why his age and height are opposite of Jekyll s traits. The names
Stevenson chose also play a significant role when deciphering how good and evil can coexist. When
the name Jekyll is split up into syllables, it reads I kill in French whereas the name Hyde comes from
the Danish word hide or a haven (Thomason 203). In the novel, Hyde grows so strong and powerful
that Jekyll no longer has control over his transformations. The only way to restrain him is to deny him
the ability of occupying a body, As Donelle Ruwe says, the most extreme form of repression is self
annihilation, as readers see when Jekyll kills himself to repress Hyde. Jekyll s suicide results in the
symbolic name of I kill since he is killing both parts of himself. Hyde s name also symbolizes the

Mental Health In The Film My Friend Dahmer And The Fire...
Mental health is a heavy topic of conversation in general. People still struggle with grasping a real
understanding of what mental health is and how it effects a person in their daily life. Due to the
already limited understanding of mental health, it is often glamorized or portrayed in an over
exaggerated manner with heavy influence on the close ups and different kinds of camera angles in
order to express the insanity of a particular character or characters. The films My Friend Dahmer and
The Fire Within, a French film directed by Louis Malle, introduce characters with mental illnesses in
different eras of Hollywood media. The two films utilize cinematography and narrative to express the
mental health issues impeding the two protagonists. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While movies, newspapers, magazines, television shows, books, radio programs, and advertisements
have all been vehicles for communicating the experience of...mental illness it usually [tends] to be a
misrepresentation of the experience (Corrigan 201). This has a major negative impact on people
suffering from mental illnesses because they feel sentiments of societal scorn and discrimination
which ultimately leads to diminished self esteem, fear of pursuing one s goals, and loss of social
opportunities (Corrigan 201). There seems to be a revival in the world of movies and television of
depicting forms of exploring the minds of serial killers which started in the 60s with the creation of
the Horror film genre. There is almost a strange fascination amongst audiences to know more about
the minds of murderers and those who are too sick to see the wrong they are doing. Films depicting
mental health have a great impact on the lives of those suffering from mental illness and also the
perceptions of those who do not suffer from mental illness. The mostly negative stigma surrounding
those who suffer from mental disorders gives them a bad reputation that impacts most aspects of their
lives. My Friend Dahmer explores the beginnings of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer s mental sickness and
how, though he tries to suppress his tendencies, he

Essay On How To Sign Out In The Army
To sign up or sign on?
Conscription in the UK is no longer compulsory so would you encourage your 16 year old child to
willingly enlist with the armed forces? There are a range of different views that have been offered in
relation to this topic. There are some individuals who are very much against young recruits giving up
their childhoods for their Country, whereas others believe that the armed forces can provide many
benefits and opportunities that may not necessarily have been attainable to some young people. I will
explore these opinions and discuss some of the issues surrounding this topic.
It could be argued, with hundreds of different career roles to choose from that the Army can offer a
diverse range of rewarding opportunities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They look after each other as a family would! The recruits are taught to challenge themselves to their
limits, they learn to recognise what motivates them and they will develop their own self confidence.
They also learn about the benefits of team involvement, resilience and the value that discipline can
bring. Young recruits will learn about themselves and learn about life experiences. The armed forces
can provide an honourable value base that a recruit may not have necessary have acquired at home due
to an underprivileged upbringing and ultimately develop them as people and offer a better future than
they thought possible.
On the other hand, what 16 year old really knows what the Armed Forces entails? It could be argued
that at the age of 16 an individual remains a child, with limited life experiences and with the Army
requesting parental consent from those who wish to sign up below the age of 18 years of age, then this
might suggest the armed forces themselves are aware that at 16 an individual does not have capacity to
make the commitment, however, they are happy to enrol the child!!
Furthermore, do 16 and 17 year olds really understand what will be expected of them to represent their
country? Are they aware of the true horrors of War? Or do young, innocent and inexperienced
teenagers fresh from School naively believe in the glamorous aspects of war?

Parking Policies on Campus Essay
As a non traditional student of the University Mary Hardin Baylor, I can say parking policies could
use some changes. I understand the need for parking policies for safety and security reasons, but some
parking rules are just ridiculous. My family has four vehicles, only one of them has a UMHB parking
sticker. This sticker was issued at registration; it is one of the many hidden fees that are added into
tuition. I sometimes drive different vehicles to campus. When I drive different vehicles, I have to go to
campus police to get a temporary parking permit. However, I do have the option to purchase a sticker
for each vehicle, if I want to pay fifteen dollars for each sticker. Another parking issue is that vehicles
cannot be pulled through or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If vehicles have been parked incorrectly, a citation will be issued. I have read several studies that state,
pulling through or backing into a parking space is safer, it is a good idea for several of reasons. It is
easier to pull out into traffic instead of backing out into traffic. There is also a better view when
leaving. When backing out blind spots could cause an accident, pulling out into traffic the driver has
full visibility. The drivers are aware of the other vehicles and pedestrians around them. Then, when
they go to leave, they have good, clear view to pull out. There is even a policy on where students are
allowed to park. If a student parks in the restricted areas, or is parked incorrectly, they will be issued a
citation.
Additional parking stickers mean additional fees for the student. College is already expensive, extra
fees are just a way for the college to get more money. Since all vehicles must have a parking permit I
have to go get a temporary parking permit every time I use other vehicles. This is time consuming and
having to go by the campus police to get a parking permit is inconvenient. I work a full time job as
well as going to college full time, so my time is limited. I drop my youngest son off at school on my
way to campus, so my mornings are already busy. As soon as class is over, I go straight to work. I
leave work to come straight to campus for evening classes. Sometimes, I have just enough time to get
to class. If I have to stop

When a statement of cash flow is viewed along with the other financial statements, it provides
information that enables users to evaluate the changes in net assets of an enterprise, its financial
structure including its liquidity and solvency and its ability to affect the amounts and timing of cash
flows in order to adapt to changing circumstances and opportunities.
Under the heading, Benefits of Cash Flow Information, the ministry of corporation affairs describes
that, Cash flow information is useful in assessing the ability of an organization to generate cash and
cash equivalents that enables users to develop models to assess and compare the present value of the
future cash flows of different companies (Benefits of Cash Flow Information, Government of India).
As a result of this the cash flow statement enhances the comparability of the reporting of operating
performance by different companies because it eliminates the effects of using different accounting
treatments for the same transactions and events. Consistency in financial statements year over year
plays a large part in accounting as it allows management to easily compare the company s
performance.
How does a statement of cash flow effect business managers and stakeholders?

The Role Of The National Labor Relations Act
The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) is a federal government agency, founded by Congress in
1935 (Galiatsos, 2015). The primary responsibility of the NLRB is to administer the National Labor
Relations Act (NLRA). However, the NLRB takes action to safeguard employees right to organize,
and to decide whether to have unions serve as their bargaining representative, with their employer
(Galiatsos, 2015). The agency also acts to prevent and remedy unfair labor practices that are
committed by private sector employers and unions. The NLRB protects the rights of most private

Integrating Change Models and the Theology of Leadership...
Integrating Change Models and the Theology of Leadership A sentiment common to almost any
organization is that the one fact that remains constant is change. As society changes, and human
understanding grows, any organization that maintains a static posture, assures its demise. Churches
and Christian organizations are no exception. The gospel may remain the same, but the method for
communicating it must speak to the audience to assure understanding. The Christian leader must be
prepared to meet this challenge by incorporating an effective model for change into his theology of
leadership in order to keep the ministry relevant and effective. Searching for such a change agent can

The Breakthrough Innovation Framework, or BrinnovationTM, incorporates Kotter s Leading Change
model, while emphasizing a framework of innovation (Gupta, 2011). The Brinnovation framework
accentuates the abilities and talents of those in the system, with its success depending on a change in
the organization s culture to embrace innovation (Gupta, 2011). The leadership can achieve a
transformation in organizational thinking by applying Kotter s eight step plan, focusing on creativity
(Gupta, 2011).
The General Systems Theory (GST) came about as an effort to describe the systems approach, born
from the biological concept of the organism developed in the first part of the 20th century (Von
Bertalanffy, 1972). In contrast to the mechanistic systems which are closed and have a direct
relationship between a cause and its effect, a biological or social system is open, operating on a
principle of equifinality, where regardless of the starting point, the objective can be achieved (Kast
Rosenzweig, 1972). Any system will achieve equilibrium, but an open system can reach a steady state
by accessing resources from outside itself (Kast Rosenzweig, 1972). The underlying assumptions of
GST rely on the organization of a company resembling the inner workings of an organism. However,
subgroups within organizations can act independently of the the whole, in

more than others widely praised writer Ernest Hemingway opined that The Undertakings of

expressed All current American writing originates from Huck Finn... there has been nothing as great

present day works. Huck Finn is maybe a standout amongst the most examined works of the last two

ones of abolitionist servitude, loss of honesty, and transitioning. Be that as it may, there are still some
astonishing truths to reveal. Twain was a conceded Visionary, a defender of elusive belief system that
picked up fame in the nineteenth century. It is likely that Twain was so included in and influenced by
Introspective philosophy that he, if just intuitively, endeavored to spread the theory to the world. Upon

Reflecting on the Dead
In Katherine Mansfield s The Garden Party and in D.H. Lawrence s Odour of Chrysanthemums, two
women were in a situation where death was literally at their feet. In The Garden Party, Laura finds
herself contemplating the dead body of Mr. Scott, a man of lower class who lived at the bottom of the
hill from her house. In Odour of Chrysanthemums, Elizabeth finds herself contemplating the dead
body of her husband, Walter. Although the relationships these women shared with the dead men were

Obviously this was not a concern with the overall well being of her children. It was merely a way to
prevent the shock of seeing their dead father before they have been told of his passing. Furthermore,
the mother in law was also denied any sympathy from Elizabeth. Although Elizabeth acknowledged
the mother in law moaning (Mansfield 2327) in her grief, she never expressed concern for the mother
in law s well being. She was so caught up in her own feelings that she failed to consider her family.
Although the family of the deceased was Elizabeth s family and Laura had no relation to Mr. Scott or
his family, both women showed only concern for themselves and no one else.
In the presence of the dead men, Laura and Elizabeth never referred to the deceased by their names. In
The Garden Party, Laura didn t call Mr. Scott by his name. Throughout the story he was just referred

simply him (Mansfield 2433). Despite Laura s concern over his death, he was still of a lower class
than her and not a part of her upper class world. The cottages around where Mr. Scott and his family
lived were described as disgusting and sordid, and Laura used the word creature (Mansfield 2429)
when referring to the widow and her sister. This suggests that she felt that Mr. Scott and his family
were not thought of as people with names. To Laura they were creatures who

Before WorldCom and Enron, many organizations unconditionally placed social and ethical
responsibility with administrative legal and compliance obligations, regulations and rules. Today, a
company s ethical behavior is vital to the success of the company. Consumers not only expect but
demand that a company is visible in their practices and are held accountable for their actions; be it

the end result of Enron failure was motivated ethically, the company itself was unsound ethically in
the mere beginning. Some may question how could this be; however, from the readings on the
organization, Enron was unethical from the start. Enron was in the business to sell natural gases and
electricity. The purchasing and selling natural gas and electricity is not something that would
necessarily be considered an ethical business. How this organization was handled was very strange on
unprofessional. Strategic planning taught valuable lessons such as ethics, honesty and trust in which

The introduction of steam and iron reshaped and defined new tactics during the 1815 1866 time period
with emphasis on the Civil War. Primarily, the invention of the steam engine and rifled artillery forged
from iron would define a new tactical advantage for both Confederate and Union Armies.
Furthermore, these two new inventions would also greatly increase the effects of speed, lethality, and
mass at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels during the Civil War.
Prior to the Civil War during the Napoleonic era, artillery was a smoothbore weapon system primarily
forged with bronze. These systems were very large, cumbersome, horse drawn and difficult to move
into battle. However, near the end of the Napoleonic Era the Gribeauval system would improve
cannon systems by casting them out of a solid piece of bronze, and boring out the center. This new
Napoleonic invention increased range and accuracy, ultimately, establishing the cornerstone of rifled
artillery.1
During the beginning of the Civil War the Army Ordnance Board attempted to apply rifling to bronze
bore cannons. Nonetheless, this form of rifling would prove unsuccessful, as the bores were shot out
in less than 500 rounds. However, Phoenix Iron Works of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania would alter the
rifling design by casting cannons out of iron with rifled iron banding in the bores. This new form of
cannon development caused little wear on the cannon bores, vastly extending tube life. Furthermore,

Anne Sexton Cinderella
Anne Sexton s archetypal poem Cinderella , published in 1971, examines the classic Grimm s fairy
tale. At this point in time, Disney s Cinderella had been around for over twenty years (Sexton,
Cinderella). There is a stark contrast between the two works especially in their plot, characterization,
and tone. Cinderella the poem and Cinderella the movie tell the same general story, despite the many
differences among the details in the plot. An unfortunate girl s parents die leaving her to be raised by
an evil stepmother with her two daughters, working almost like a servant in the house. Although her
stepmother forbids it, Cinderella attends the prince s ball with the help of a magical being. The prince
falls madly in love with Cinderella, and when she leaves, he attempts to find her by comparing the
shoe Cinderella ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By comparing Cinderella to Al Jolson, a comedian who painted himself black and made fun of African
Americans, Sexton might be trying to lead the audience to believe that Cinderella is silly or offensive
character. Sexton also compares her to a gospel singer as she begs her mother s grave to send her to
the prince s ball. The commentary Sexton offers on the large size of the dress that the tiny dove drops
like an egg could be used to mock Cinderella s wish, adding to the negative characterization (Sexton
1012). On the other hand, the movie develops Cinderella by appealing to the viewer s empathy as it
shows her mistreatment. Rather than begging to go to a ball Cinderella makes her own dress, and
when her stepmother destroys it, a fairy godmother comes to her to replace it. This lends to an overall
more positive characterization of Cinderella.
In conclusion, Anne Sexton s poem has a negative tone and characterization of Cinderella compared to
the Disney film. These differences are made apparent in the differences in plot between the two

Forgiveness Is Often Misunderstood
Forgiveness is often misunderstood.
Forgiveness is a bunch of mixed behaviors and emotions that humans express in their life time. Many
people are motivated to forgive because of their morals and how humans feel towards one another.
There are different ways of how people express forgiveness. A way people show forgiveness is when
they accept, and respect of the reality of what happened and to find a resolution. People s actions are
based on the feelings towards someone who caused harm to another. Some people find forgiveness a
hard thing to do because of how they cope with it. Experts from Stanford University Forgiveness
Project shows that forgiveness can give sense of relief such as reduce stress, anger, depression and

The Indwelling Urinary Catheter And Urinary Retention Problem
The indwelling urinary catheter can be inserted for a long period with frequent changes between 4 6
weeks (Taylor, Lillis, LeMone, Lynn, 2011). However, the Foley can also be a potential source for
UTI and bacteriuria (Taylor et al., 2011). The necessity of reducing the patient s period of time on a
Foley and helping him or her to quickly regain normal bladder function is significant. Performing
bladder training through clamping the urinary catheter is reported to decrease the frequency of urinary
retention, shorten the period of returning to normal bladder function, and stimulate normal bladder
filling and emptying by improving bladder tone and sensation (Nyman, 2012). When one thinks
critically, bladder retraining seems to be reasonable and necessary but there is always the need of
evidence based evaluation. The following journals are trials providing evidences and statistics about
bladder retraining prior to Foley removal in different populations presented with urinary retention
problem.
The chosen population in this journal were patients with hip fracture at a Swedish university hospital
(Nyman, Johansson, Gustafsson, 2010). Patients with hip fracture experience long periods of bed rest
and pain resulting in dysuria, which requires the insertion of a Foley before surgery. The trial started at
6 a.m. on the postoperative day two (Nyman et al., 2010). One group had their catheter clamped and
then only unclamped when there was a need for urination, while one group had

Why Should People With Disability In Theatre
Why should people with disabilities be included in theatre?
Disability theatre can give multiple opportunities to people with disabilities. It is not just about
combating exclusion, but also to increase one s creativity, making new friends, discover new talents
and build one s confidence and self esteem. Enhancing such skills will give people with disabilities the
opportunity to increase their independence and self advocacy.
... Theatre promotes inclusion
The inclusion for artists with disability in theatre shows equality between artists with and without
disability. Drama can give people with disabilities a social life as through drama activities they have
the opportunity to make new friends and make social interactions. An ex drama student says that being
included in theatre as a child gave her a safe place away from bullying at school. This safe place
helped her make real friends who accept her as she is. When the persons with disability feel that they
are being included and accepted by the people around them, they will start accepting their own
disability.
During drama activities especially when working with mixed ability students, one should consider
working within an open space and creating a circle. One should start the ... Show more content on

The Importance Of Literacy Pedagogies
Literacy pedagogies have a developing and complex history in education, intertwined with social and
cultural change and evolution. Each change has paved a new path for more significant approaches and
strategies, which cater to diverse learners allowing them to create meaning and communicate more
effectively. These literacy pedagogies brought out by the changes in education have both strengths and
weaknesses. As such, educators need to explore and understand the four knowledge processes
portrayed by Kalantzis, Cope, Chan and Dalley Trim; didactic, authentic, functional, and critical
literacy approach (2016), to be able to consider how they can influence teaching and learning so they
are able to make informed decisions with regards to their students literacy learning. Teaching is
becoming increasingly complex; this is particularly evident in the area of literacy. This paper will
explore the four literacy pedagogies, their limitations and their strengths, and how they have impacted
literacy learning within the Australian educational context.
During the 19th century, didactic literacy pedagogy was the first pedagogy to become prominent
subsequent to the mass obligatory, institutionalised education (Kalantzis et al., 2016, p.84). This
approach was widely seen during the Victorian era where education was seen to be teacher centered;
according to Watkins (1999), this approach can also be seen in Australian education during the 1970s
and 1980s. During this time this pedagogy was

Micro Air Vehicles ( Mavs )
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Micro Air Vehicles (MAVs)
Micro Air Vehicles (MAVs) are a class of Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs), significantly smaller than
typical UAVs. UAVs are aircrafts without human pilot aboard. These are controlled either
automatically by on board computers or through remote control by a pilot on the ground [3]. The
modern aircrafts can be as small as 20 centimeters. The design features and the configurations of
MAVs are different from that of normal aircrafts. The speeds of MAVs are very low and the size is
less than 30 cm in length, width or height. With the development and comfort of electronics, smaller
aircrafts, which can perform various tasks that were previously performed by manned aircrafts or
larger UAVs, have been possible. Commercially off shelf components like motor, propeller, ESC,
servo motor, battery, autopilot, data modem, camera (Payload), video Transmitter are tested and
trained for performance and is then integrated with MAVs for autonomous flight operations as shown
in Figure 1.1 [4].
Fig 1.1: Block diagram of MAV integration
1.2 Motivation
In today s world, MAVs equipped with digital cameras are increasing in number for real time
applications. MAVs are widely used because of its small size, low weight, low cost and flexibility in
design.
The main purposes of MAVs are to provide video surveillance during military exercisers, firefighting,
and weather monitoring, policing and border control [5]. However the video obtained by

Ancient Maya Civilization And Colonial America
The purpose of this essay is to answer the question To what extent, if any, did ancient Maya
civilization contribute to society in colonial America? .
To begin formulating an answer to this question, ancient Maya civilization was broadly researched in
books from various libraries. Suspected contributions of Maya civilization were recorded and further
researched in books and online resources that were focused on specific aspects of Maya civilization
such as astronomy, architecture, agriculture, mathematics, and food production. Research was then
conducted about civilization in colonial America through various books and online resources to
determine how colonial America was impacted by each of the suspected contributions of ancient Maya

Response To Disability
Disability, defined in the dictionary, is a condition caused by an accident, trauma, genetics or disease
which may limit a person s mobility, hearing, vision, speech or mental function. There are many
different ways disabilities can manifest themselves. One may be born with a disability such as Downs
Syndrome or autism or you can acquire the title throughout life such as being involved in an accident
which may confine you to a wheelchair. These examples show the wide range of people branded with
the label of disable mentally or physically, sometimes even both. Unfortunately, through no fault of

The Purpose Of Teaching
Introduction.
Teaching in a classroom is like leading a team to the top of a mountain. Teaching especially when
having a class full of children is the ultimate challenge, because they are new for what they are dealing
with, but it can be also a source of fun to deal with these pure natured souls. Teaching students at
higher classes is much easier, because most of them are independent, and they can think more about
what they learn in class. The purpose of chosen teaching as a profession, curriculum, teaching
methods and teacher s roles are discussed in the following.
Purpose.
Teaching is like leadership. Teachers lead their students to achieve their goals during the study period.
It s a great honor to help my students by giving them the encouragement that they need to make their
dreams come true. The main reason of chosen education as a profession is to follow the massage of
Allah to build our planet. The nations can t raise without educated individuals, so I will try to make

The First Battle Of Bull Run Essay
THE FIRST BATTLE OF BULL RUN
On July 21, 1861, two armies, one confederate and the other Union, prepared for the first major land
battle of the Civil War. In 1861 Abraham Lincoln was sworn in as President.
The Southern states had seceded and the South had fired on and captured Fort Sumter on April 12
1861.
After the Fort Sumter battle, both the North and the South began preparing for war by raising armies.
This was done quickly and neither side spent much time training the troops. Both sides also did not
know what a long and terrible war was ahead.

The Confederates at Manassas knew far ahead of this action due to many Southern spies in
Washington. The Southern troops spread in lines along eight miles of Bull Run Creek. The heaviest
Southern troops were on a ridge around Henry House. After a few skirmishes, the Union Army arrived
at Bull Run on July 21, 1861.
As the Union Army approached Bull Run, General Johnston s army faked an attack at Harpers Ferry.
As the 18,000 Union troops dug in for assault, the Southern forces jumped on rail cars and headed for
Bull Run to reinforce the Confederate Army.
General McDonnell attempted to flank the Confederates by moving north and west, and began several
attacks on the Confederates right flank and the center of the Confederate line at Henry House.
As the battle wore on, the superior numbers of the Union Army began to wear down the Confederate
lines. At a critical point, as the Confederates began to fall back, an officer pointed out a line of rebels
who were still strong. He said, look at Jackson s men standing like a stone wall . He was talking about
General T. J. Jackson s men. Jackson would from then on be known as Stonewall Jackson , one of the
most famous of all Confederate generals. This seemed to inspire the Southern troops at Henry

On 26 June, one day after 90,000 North Korean troops, armed with Soviet weapons, crossed the 38th
parallel to invade South Korea, President Harry Truman directed U.S. military forces to assist South
Korea. This began the Korean War, which came at a time when America was becoming more and
more fearful of Communism. The fact that Communist China and the Soviet Union were backing the
North Koreans added to American fears of a quot;Communist Takeover quot; of the world. Led by
General Douglas MacArthur, American troops spent three years fighting in Korea. The war ended in

One of the ways Hardy evokes a sense of contrast between the two settings with the use of triads.

Essay On Australian Migration Act 1958
Legal relevant laws:
Australian Migration Act 1958:
Australian Federal law states that any non Australian citizens who do not have a valid visa is to be
detained, regardless of circumstances for a strictly limited period designed to obtain basic information
about health, identity, security and basic information that supports a visa claim, may form a legitimate
part of a system of immigration controls, as long as the detention is subject to effective review by a
court.
The people who do not have these valid documents are generally refugees and asylum seekers who
have fled their country for their safety. They are denied the right for entrance into Australia due to the
Australian Migration Act 1958 and are put in detention centres indefinitely.

The housing project has a calmer, quieter atmosphere and allowed detainees to exercise more freedom
than detention centres. What should be changed is that there should be more housing projects around
Australia to accommodate more immigrants as a much better alternative than detention centres. They
should also be more inclusive of the qualifications required to be eligible to be in the residential
housing project.
Children and their families should not be split up
In residential housing projects the children were only allowed to stay with the mother but the father
was to stay in the detention centres. This separation of family exacerbates the already fragile mental
state of families. Instead the father should be allowed to stay with their families in the housing
projects, which would be more beneficial to not only the families but the Government as it would
require less resources when they try to unite the families again.

Analysis Of I Got You
In I Got You, Jamie Lake describes her characters in ways that make the above statement real. When
Jake meets Benjamin for the first time he describes him as hot...tall and strapping, [in] a body suit
barely contain[ing] the young man s perfectly well built body. (266) The description of Benjamin
makes two things evident, 1. Even in the gay community there is a certain amount of pressure put on
looks and 2. Even in the gay community looks are one of the most important things first looked at.
On the other hand, Jake was a view entirely different. On page 31 he was described as wiry and pale
and then on page 136 his sister described him as skin and bones, signifying his more skinny and
fragile appearance. Although Benjamin fit the bill for how men, gay men specifically, are suppose to
look. Jake, on the other hand was the complete opposite of what gay men want their partners to look
like. Jake s appearance goes against what gay men are suppose to look like specifically, some could
even say that Jake was underdeveloped. For example, in the article, A Gay man and a Straight Woman
Talk body Image, Stern, the gay man, specifically says that what gay men are looking for is Not bony
and gangly! In the book this is exactly how Jake is described. In today s society you are suppose to
take a sort of pride in how you looked and Jake wasn t described as the best candidate to showcase
that. We have been programmed to think about looks first without even getting to know a person.

Language survived through the nuclear holocaust, yet Riddley s society had to change the english
language in order to fit it into their culture. Specifically, religious and scientific words no longer held
the same use or meaning. Their beliefs, knowledge, and language no longer depended on abstract
ways of thinking, but rather the physical explanation for their origins and way of living. Themes such
as death, religion, and power became prevalent aspects in Riddley s life as he continued to seek the
answer for human nature and why we are who we are. Hoban conveyed this shift of language through
the use of phonetic language, that slows down the reader s recognition. Thus, Hoban causes the
audience to truly derive meaning from the context and meaning of the world, figuring for themselves

I cannot exactly say what because I did not live there, but there is always that thought. It always varies

Q2. If so, will these previously thought of deviant behaviors always have that label, even if it is more
accepted in today s society? Will they forever be known as deviant?
A2. No, that s not always the case. Certain labels can change. Even so far we ve seen cases where one
was deviant and we see radical change over time, there is nothing in a way that keeps it deviant.
However some things are harder to change over time.
Q3. Why, in today s age does more media coverage play a role? (it being easier to access, faster to

A3. Cleary media plays some role and accessing information plays a role. Social reactions always
plays a role, historically information would get passed and people would get stigmatized and labeled,
now there is so much information that some can be cancelled out. For instance, how we hear about all
of this crazy stuff on how Russia closed fake information supporting Trump. They would tweet and it

  • 2. The Influence Of Observational Learning This observation was done in home setting were Maya was doing her daily morning activities. She dumped the clothes from the hamper on the floor and began to separate the clothes into light and dark colors. She picked up three or four articles of light clothing at a time and put them in the washer. She then moved all the dark clothes with her foot into the corner of the laundry room. She walked at a fast pace out of the laundry room to a storage closet and took out a vacuum. She took the vacuum to the master bedroom, set it by the door and went to make the bed. She first pulled off all of the pillows and blankets off on to the floor. She then fixed the fitted sheet and then the one on top of that. She went back and forth from one side to another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Observational learning means that a person learns by observing the behavior or actions of others (Sigelman Rider, 2015). Maya learned at an early age by observing her mother that a morning routine involved doing household work. Her muscle memory allowed her to remember how to perform all of the tasks that she as a child had observed her mother doing. This also allowed her to be able to stay moving and not take a break between different chores. At age 58, she seemed to move with ease and did not need any help in completing her morning routine. Another theory that has helped influence Maya s physical development. Her microsystem involves her mother and what she taught her when if came to household work. Her macrosystem involves her culture. Sigelman and Rider (2015) suggest that culture is often defined as the shared understandings and way of life of a people, including beliefs and practices concerning the nature of humans in different phases of lifespan, what children need to be taught to function in society, and how people should lead their lives as adults (p. 52). Growing up in Mexico Maya s culture taught girls at an early age that the woman of the home was in charge of maintaining the home clean and perfect. Her physical development was influenced by the fact that as a child she had no choice but to do all of these chores that she would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Importance of Vitamin D Essay Getting some sun is essential to human health despite the risks of the skin cancer. There is much more benefits that come with the exposure to the sun than harm. Vitamin D that our body produces when we are exposed to the sun is very efficient in curing so many diseases. It protects from arthritis, diabetes, infectious diseases, multiple sclerosis and some kinds of cancer, just to name a few. It has been proven that the Earth s atmosphere blocks 98.7 percent of the sun s UV rays. The other 2.3 percent that we are exposed to, have both beneficial and harmful effects. We do need to focus on the benefits, because we have way more of them. The only harm it does to our body is skin cancer, which by being more careful we can protect from. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It has many different negative effects, like growth retardation, skeletal deformation and softening of the skull (Holick, 2008). In Europe doctors prescribe vitamin D for infants to prevent those kinds of problems, and also they recommend daily walks in the sun. That is why the children in Europe don t have rickets as often as in United States. The doctors here depend on the vitamins that are in the formula, but it is not enough. A study published in Archives of Internal Medicine found that 75 percent or more of American teens and adults are deficient in Vitamin D. That is why we have so many serious illnesses, like cancer, diabetes and heart disease (Huff, 2010). Infectious diseases are more seen in people living in places with less sun during winter months, we know those as influenza virus or simply cold. The sun in those places is unable to produce vitamin D and that is why we get sick so often. The people that live in the warm places, where the vitamin D is produced all year round, don t get sick as often (Holick, 2008). Diabetes is a very big problem in United States, but if we listen to what researchers had found, we can try to prevent people from getting this disease by staying in the sun. It has been proven that it can lower 80 percent, if we start giving our infants 2,000 IU of vitamin D during the first year of life. The research also shows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Selection On Behavior Shapes Brain Investment Understanding how selection on behavior shapes brain investment is a major question in the analysis of the evolution of animal sociality [Szathmary and Maynard Smith, 1995; Edelman and Changeux, 2001; Ricklefs, 2004; Gronenberg and Riveros, 2009]. Neural tissue is energetically expensive and therefore brain regions should only enlarge when needed to meet functional demands [Niven and Laughlin, 2008]. The social brain hypothesis posits that social interactions are so cognitively demanding that social environment selects for enhanced neural development [Humphrey, 1976; Dunbar and Shultz, 2007]. Studies supporting the social brain hypothesis usually rely on comparative analyses across taxa with varying levels of social complexity and use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To date only two brain investment studies on solitary and facultatively social bees are reported. A study on solitary bees, Osmia lignaria found that adults emerge with neuronal development typical of experienced workers in advanced eusocial insect species, but also found that mushroom body neuropil volume further increased with foraging experience [Withers et al., 2007]. These results confirm that mushroom bodies are important for cognitive processes in solitary antecedents, but cannot inform us on the role of social experience on neuropil investment. Smith et al. [2010] examined brain size and development using the facultatively social bee Megalopta genalis, a species with both solitary and primitively social colonies in the same populations. Mushroom body size increased with foraging behavior in solitary individuals and workers compared to newly emerged M. genalis females, but even greater mushroom body development was found in queens. Smith et al. [2010] attributed enhanced growth of the mushroom body cortex to maintaining behavioral dominance. Much like obligately eusocial bees, however, Megalopta are bees with distinct reproductive (queens) and foraging (workers) roles and therefore the relative roles of foraging and social experience are not ... • 5. Essay about 5 Ways to Bust California’s Drought The California water drought has been declared a crisis by the governor of California. 2013 was the driest year on record, and California could be running out of water. Californians should be water wise, and their use, or no use, of water will have an enormous impact on this drought. They can use the techniques published in a recent Time article called, 5 Ways to Bust California s Drought, to reduce their water use. Landscape techniques, alternate water sources, and the personal conservation of water can reduce the use of water, and can have a positive change on this water crisis. Landscaping techniques, such as drip irrigation and xeriscaping can reduce California s use of water immensely. Eighty Percent of the state s developed water ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Desalination technology converts the tons of seawater that cover s California s coast into drinkable water. This process, though expensive and difficult, would provide California with an endless supply of water. The ocean is a huge part of the California lifestyle, and it could become a huge source of their water supply too. The Groundwater Replenishment System recycles water to be used again. It takes in about seventy million gallons of waste water a day and puts it through a cleaning and purifying process, that then makes this water safe enough to drink. Many people may not be comfortable with drinking recycled water, but this water could be put to use in landscaping and farming, adding seventy million extra gallons a day. The desalination process may be a bit far fetched for now, but using a water recycling program is completely feasible and would be a huge help in reducing California s use of water. (only its not reducing, its just providing them with more water to use yknow? how should I phrase that?) Conservation is the technique that every California Citizen should participate in if the care about the California water crisis. The average Californian home uses almost two hundred gallons of water a day, but cutting five minutes off of ones shower time can save up to twenty five gallons of water a day. A shorter shower time should be implemented by California residents, as well as other simple lifestyle changes, such as turning the water off while brushing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Mr Hyde Dualism The debate of whether man is born entirely good or evil is a universal discussion that never seems to resolve. Even though a human is a complex individual who cannot be defined by a simple assessment, the people of today are convinced that there is a straightforward explanation as to why acts of wickedness exist. Some believe negative influences taint the naturally innocent heart of man, while others suppose evil men are born with an unavoidable capacity for darkness. This however, suggests that the wicked are created from birth without morals or the ability to be considered righteous. Despite the theories that exist, good and evil are not always separate. Man typically is neither solely good or bad, but a combination of the both. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Jekyll is tall and old while Hyde is short and young. In Jekyll s confession, he explains that The evil side of my nature, to which I had now transferred the stamping efficacy, was less robust and less developed than the good which I had just deposed. Again, in the course of my life, which had been, after all, nine tenths a life of effort, virtue, and control, it had been much less exercised and much less exhausted (Stevenson 107). Since Jekyll hides away his evil tendencies, Hyde is fresh and new just like a child, clarifying why his age and height are opposite of Jekyll s traits. The names Stevenson chose also play a significant role when deciphering how good and evil can coexist. When the name Jekyll is split up into syllables, it reads I kill in French whereas the name Hyde comes from the Danish word hide or a haven (Thomason 203). In the novel, Hyde grows so strong and powerful that Jekyll no longer has control over his transformations. The only way to restrain him is to deny him the ability of occupying a body, As Donelle Ruwe says, the most extreme form of repression is self annihilation, as readers see when Jekyll kills himself to repress Hyde. Jekyll s suicide results in the symbolic name of I kill since he is killing both parts of himself. Hyde s name also symbolizes the hidden portion of Jekyll ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Mental Health In The Film My Friend Dahmer And The Fire... Mental health is a heavy topic of conversation in general. People still struggle with grasping a real understanding of what mental health is and how it effects a person in their daily life. Due to the already limited understanding of mental health, it is often glamorized or portrayed in an over exaggerated manner with heavy influence on the close ups and different kinds of camera angles in order to express the insanity of a particular character or characters. The films My Friend Dahmer and The Fire Within, a French film directed by Louis Malle, introduce characters with mental illnesses in different eras of Hollywood media. The two films utilize cinematography and narrative to express the mental health issues impeding the two protagonists. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While movies, newspapers, magazines, television shows, books, radio programs, and advertisements have all been vehicles for communicating the experience of...mental illness it usually [tends] to be a misrepresentation of the experience (Corrigan 201). This has a major negative impact on people suffering from mental illnesses because they feel sentiments of societal scorn and discrimination which ultimately leads to diminished self esteem, fear of pursuing one s goals, and loss of social opportunities (Corrigan 201). There seems to be a revival in the world of movies and television of depicting forms of exploring the minds of serial killers which started in the 60s with the creation of the Horror film genre. There is almost a strange fascination amongst audiences to know more about the minds of murderers and those who are too sick to see the wrong they are doing. Films depicting mental health have a great impact on the lives of those suffering from mental illness and also the perceptions of those who do not suffer from mental illness. The mostly negative stigma surrounding those who suffer from mental disorders gives them a bad reputation that impacts most aspects of their lives. Conscription in the UK is no longer compulsory so would you encourage your 16 year old child to willingly enlist with the armed forces? There are a range of different views that have been offered in relation to this topic. There are some individuals who are very much against young recruits giving up their childhoods for their Country, whereas others believe that the armed forces can provide many benefits and opportunities that may not necessarily have been attainable to some young people. The armed forces can provide an honourable value base that a recruit may not have necessary have acquired at home due to an underprivileged upbringing and ultimately develop them as people and offer a better future than they thought possible. On the other hand, what 16 year old really knows what the Armed Forces entails? It could be argued that at the age of 16 an individual remains a child, with limited life experiences and with the Army requesting parental consent from those who wish to sign up below the age of 18 years of age, then this might suggest the armed forces themselves are aware that at 16 an individual does not have capacity to make the commitment, however, they are happy to enrol the child!! Furthermore, do 16 and 17 year olds really understand what will be expected of them to represent their country? Are they aware of the true horrors of War? I understand the need for parking policies for safety and security reasons, but some parking rules are just ridiculous. My family has four vehicles, only one of them has a UMHB parking sticker. This sticker was issued at registration; it is one of the many hidden fees that are added into tuition. I sometimes drive different vehicles to campus. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If vehicles have been parked incorrectly, a citation will be issued. I have read several studies that state, pulling through or backing into a parking space is safer, it is a good idea for several of reasons. It is easier to pull out into traffic instead of backing out into traffic. There is also a better view when leaving. When backing out blind spots could cause an accident, pulling out into traffic the driver has full visibility. The drivers are aware of the other vehicles and pedestrians around them. Then, when they go to leave, they have good, clear view to pull out. There is even a policy on where students are allowed to park. If a student parks in the restricted areas, or is parked incorrectly, they will be issued a citation. Additional parking stickers mean additional fees for the student. College is already expensive, extra fees are just a way for the college to get more money. Since all vehicles must have a parking permit I have to go get a temporary parking permit every time I use other vehicles. This is time consuming and having to go by the campus police to get a parking permit is inconvenient. I work a full time job as well as going to college full time, so my time is limited. I drop my youngest son off at school on my way to campus, so my mornings are already busy. As soon as class is over, I go straight to work. Primarily, the invention of the steam engine and rifled artillery forged from iron would define a new tactical advantage for both Confederate and Union Armies. Furthermore, these two new inventions would also greatly increase the effects of speed, lethality, and mass at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels during the Civil War. Prior to the Civil War during the Napoleonic era, artillery was a smoothbore weapon system primarily forged with bronze. These systems were very large, cumbersome, horse drawn and difficult to move into battle. However, near the end of the Napoleonic Era the Gribeauval system would improve cannon systems by casting them out of a solid piece of bronze, and boring out the center. This new Napoleonic invention increased range and accuracy, ultimately, establishing the cornerstone of rifled artillery.1 During the beginning of the Civil War the Army Ordnance Board attempted to apply rifling to bronze bore cannons. Nonetheless, this form of rifling would prove unsuccessful, as the bores were shot out in less than 500 rounds. However, Phoenix Iron Works of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania would alter the rifling design by casting cannons out of iron with rifled iron banding in the bores. By comparing Cinderella to Al Jolson, a comedian who painted himself black and made fun of African Americans, Sexton might be trying to lead the audience to believe that Cinderella is silly or offensive character. Sexton also compares her to a gospel singer as she begs her mother s grave to send her to the prince s ball. The commentary Sexton offers on the large size of the dress that the tiny dove drops like an egg could be used to mock Cinderella s wish, adding to the negative characterization (Sexton 1012). On the other hand, the movie develops Cinderella by appealing to the viewer s empathy as it shows her mistreatment. Rather than begging to go to a ball Cinderella makes her own dress, and when her stepmother destroys it, a fairy godmother comes to her to replace it. However, the Foley can also be a potential source for UTI and bacteriuria (Taylor et al., 2011). The necessity of reducing the patient s period of time on a Foley and helping him or her to quickly regain normal bladder function is significant. Performing bladder training through clamping the urinary catheter is reported to decrease the frequency of urinary retention, shorten the period of returning to normal bladder function, and stimulate normal bladder filling and emptying by improving bladder tone and sensation (Nyman, 2012). When one thinks critically, bladder retraining seems to be reasonable and necessary but there is always the need of evidence based evaluation. The Southern troops spread in lines along eight miles of Bull Run Creek. The heaviest Southern troops were on a ridge around Henry House. After a few skirmishes, the Union Army arrived at Bull Run on July 21, 1861. As the Union Army approached Bull Run, General Johnston s army faked an attack at Harpers Ferry. As the 18,000 Union troops dug in for assault, the Southern forces jumped on rail cars and headed for Bull Run to reinforce the Confederate Army. General McDonnell attempted to flank the Confederates by moving north and west, and began several attacks on the Confederates right flank and the center of the Confederate line at Henry House. As the battle wore on, the superior numbers of the Union Army began to wear down the Confederate lines. At a critical point, as the Confederates began to fall back, an officer pointed out a line of rebels who were still strong. He said, look at Jackson s men standing like a stone wall . He was talking about General T. J. Jackson s men. Jackson would from then on be known as Stonewall Jackson , one of the most famous of all Confederate generals. As a result, the reader can conclude from the evidence that Randolph is an upper class boy whose parents had sacrificed wealth and time to bring up, only for the mother to be neglected by him due to her lower class statues. Later in the story, Sophy asks Randolph if she can marry the man she has always loved, Sam. Quite unsurprisingly, Randolph rejects the idea, as having 2 parents in low classes in the hierarchy would be a liability to his profile in the upper class. However, Randolph injects venom into his rejection, saying, I am ashamed of you! It will ruin me! A miserable boor! A churl! A clown! It will degrade me in the eyes of all the gentlemen of England! Essay On Australian Migration Act 1958 Legal relevant laws: Australian Migration Act 1958: Australian Federal law states that any non Australian citizens who do not have a valid visa is to be detained, regardless of circumstances for a strictly limited period designed to obtain basic information about health, identity, security and basic information that supports a visa claim, may form a legitimate part of a system of immigration controls, as long as the detention is subject to effective review by a court. The people who do not have these valid documents are generally refugees and asylum seekers who have fled their country for their safety. They are denied the right for entrance into Australia due to the Australian Migration Act 1958 and are put in detention centres indefinitely. The housing project has a calmer, quieter atmosphere and allowed detainees to exercise more freedom than detention centres. What should be changed is that there should be more housing projects around Australia to accommodate more immigrants as a much better alternative than detention centres. They should also be more inclusive of the qualifications required to be eligible to be in the residential housing project. Children and their families should not be split up In residential housing projects the children were only allowed to stay with the mother but the father was to stay in the detention centres. This separation of family exacerbates the already fragile mental state of families. Instead the father should be allowed to stay with their families in the housing projects, which would be more beneficial to not only the families but the Government as it would require less resources when they try to unite the families again. • 37. Analysis Of I Got You In I Got You, Jamie Lake describes her characters in ways that make the above statement real. When Jake meets Benjamin for the first time he describes him as hot...tall and strapping, [in] a body suit barely contain[ing] the young man s perfectly well built body. (266) The description of Benjamin makes two things evident, 1. Even in the gay community there is a certain amount of pressure put on looks and 2. Even in the gay community looks are one of the most important things first looked at. On the other hand, Jake was a view entirely different. On page 31 he was described as wiry and pale and then on page 136 his sister described him as skin and bones, signifying his more skinny and fragile appearance. Although Benjamin fit the bill for how men, gay men specifically, are suppose to look. Jake, on the other hand was the complete opposite of what gay men want their partners to look like. Jake s appearance goes against what gay men are suppose to look like specifically, some could even say that Jake was underdeveloped. For example, in the article, A Gay man and a Straight Woman Talk body Image, Stern, the gay man, specifically says that what gay men are looking for is Not bony and gangly! In the book this is exactly how Jake is described. In today s society you are suppose to take a sort of pride in how you looked and Jake wasn t described as the best candidate to showcase that. The language may seem simplistic and straightforward but its words connate different meaning and contexts. Therefore, it is the reader s job to be able to make connections and come up with the meaning of the words for themselves through Riddley s perspective in which he uses worn down English. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Language survived through the nuclear holocaust, yet Riddley s society had to change the english language in order to fit it into their culture. Specifically, religious and scientific words no longer held the same use or meaning. Their beliefs, knowledge, and language no longer depended on abstract ways of thinking, but rather the physical explanation for their origins and way of living. Themes such as death, religion, and power became prevalent aspects in Riddley s life as he continued to seek the answer for human nature and why we are who we are. Hoban conveyed this shift of language through the use of phonetic language, that slows down the reader s recognition. Thus, Hoban causes the audience to truly derive meaning from the context and meaning of the world, figuring for themselves the nature of Riddley s experiences and connections. Furthermore, Eusa is the center of a legend that Riddley s people rely their understanding on. As the culprit, Eusa, obtained cleverness and as a result an entire world was destroyed. Furthermore, people no longer understand the basics of technology nor understand religion. They had to revert to pre modern times and had to learn to adapt to a new way of life. More specifically the deviant label that is put upon female athletes. Given that they are scrutinized for becoming their own people and dismissing the traditional ways a female should behave, I would like to look at not only how these athletes are treated, but how they respond to it. Also focusing on if this process has changed over time. Thesis Throughout the course of history, the consensus regarding traditional gender norms has changed immensely. If so, will these previously thought of deviant behaviors always have that label, even if it is more accepted in today s society? Will they forever be known as deviant? A2. No, that s not always the case. Certain labels can change. Even so far we ve seen cases where one was deviant and we see radical change over time, there is nothing in a way that keeps it deviant. However some things are harder to change over time. Q3. Why, in today s age does more media coverage play a role? (it being easier to access, faster to publish news, more platforms...etc) A3. Cleary media plays some role and accessing information plays a role. Social reactions always plays a role, historically information would get passed and people would get stigmatized and labeled, now there is so much information that some can be cancelled out. For instance, how we hear about all of this crazy stuff on how Russia closed fake information supporting Trump. They would tweet and it would become fake news.
