Divergent Archetypes
Two literary works that have similar archetypal meanings are Veronica Roth s fictional story
Divergent and George Lucas s written film Star Wars. The plot of Divergent is based on a post
apocalyptic society and focuses on Tris (formally known as Beatrice) who explores her identity within
a society that defines its citizens by their social and personality. Star Wars is an epic space opera. The
Galactic Empire is nearing his achievement to ending the Death Star, a space station with the power to
destroy all planets. Emperor Palpatine plans to use this weapon to enforce his control over the galaxy
and destroy the Rebel Alliance. Near the orbit of a desert planet Tatooine, a rebel ship escorts Princess
Leia Organa, a member of the rebellion, who in fact aims to use stolen Death Star plans to help the
rebellion find a way to destroy the Death Star.

Authentic And Cultural Background Of The Apache
Authentic and Cultural Background of the Apache
The Athapaskan talking individuals of the Southwest, whom the Spanish and the Pueblos would
call Apaches, initially originated from areas well north of the Canadian fringe.
They entered the fields at some point going before the Columbian voyage, most likely pursuing the
developing crowds of wild ox that rose after 1200, and they assembled another economy and social
structure tweaked to the necessities of the occasionally troublesome environment.
From there on Apache populaces developed, and by 1700 they ruled the western segments of
the southern fields and the mountains of New Mexico. Apaches, more than whatever other gathering,
tested the Pueblo Indian populaces and also the infringing Spaniards for control of
the political economy of the Southwest.
The Apaches made a place for themselves in the Southwest at an extremely troublesome time in
history, when other tribal social orders endured decrease and demolition.
The Apaches survived and flourished outside the Spanish frontier framework fundamentally in light of
the fact that
they adjusted to the changing biological systems of the Southwest; they modified their economy by
making new techniques for generation and extending or contracting sociopolitical structures to meet
financial requests.
Every now and again such changes incorporated the appropriation of specific parts of European
culture, for
illustration, altered types of pastoralism. Apaches

Essay about Effects of Different levels of T.V Violence...
Abstract
EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT LEVELS OF T.V VIOLENCE ON AGGRESSION:
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of different levels of television violence on grade
school children. Since some studies show that younger children are more prone to aggression than
older children. This study is designed to show how violence plays a role in aggression. The intention
is to show that violence causes different aggression levels between males and females. The second
purpose of this study is to show if there are any significant differences between males and females and
aggression induced by violence. The information on gender difference and aggression is controversial.
All the children were mixed in this experiment combined the male and ... Show more content on

The United Sates is the clear leader among modern, stable democratic nations in its rates of
homicides, assault, rape, and robbery, and it is among the highest in incidents of group violence and
assassinations. This high level of violence is dangerous to our society. It is disfiguring out society
making fortresses of portions of our cities and dividing our people into armed camps. It is jeopardizing
to some of our most precious institutions; among them our schools and universities poisoning the
spirit of trust and cooperation that is essential to their proper functioning.
In the past years until now, violence among children has increased dramatically. Cases have been
reported where grade school students take guns and other weapons to school and use them against
their teachers and classmates. Things of that sort are very much a reality for schools around the
country. Is the reason for these acts of violence that children are becoming more aggressive at younger
ages? Does, the media have to do something with the increase in violence of young children, the fact
that the media has more violence in it than any other point in history? It could be a combination of
things, including work, single parents, peer pressures, etc. The true concern is that the media entertains
children with violent shows, which are aimed at them. Some networks agreed to place advisories

Compare And Contrast To My Dear And Loving Husband
In Bradstreet´s To My Dear and Loving Husband marriage and love are presented as dazzling and
foolproof. Problems make relationships substantial and the lack of them would seem too quixotic,
making it very stereotyped and dull for my taste. This poem is a rainbow put into words, it illustrates
an ideal relationship that could be considered mythical. Anne Bradstreet seems to image a matrimony,
she aspired to possess. If ever two were one, then surely we / If ever man were loved by wife, then
thee; (1 2) these lines give you the impression that she has an exaggerate self opinion towards her love
life, which she set side by side to other relationships, to make evident that hers was more valuable
than any other. Next she writes If ever wife was happy in a man, /Compare with me ye women if you

With this in mind, she continues expressing her emotions, of course. In lines 10 12(The heavens

of a low self esteem. However, she includes the religious belief to distract the audience from evidently
finding out she is selfish and she really needs her husband to be with her every time while their
existence continues, so they can still remain together when they ascend to heaven. Anne Bradstreet
was a love desperate and needy wife with many insecurities towards her relationship with her partner.
She plays with the audience by the use of intricate words to deflect the reader s attention from the big

Now Government of Malaysia plans to have a telephony penetration rate of 50% for the whole
country and 25% for the rural areas by year 2020 (State of Hawaii Government, 2002). Scrutinizing
the background of Malaysian telecommunication sector, competition can be seen as main factor by the
telecommunication service provider companies. Companies like Sapura Digital Sdn. Bhd., Celcom

either should be merged with giant and more competitive companies or to be gone through potential
bankruptcies. This reflects a fact as how the market is being penetrated and flooded by the

How A Man Copes With Life Unrealized Essay
How a Man Copes with Life Unrealized (Death) The Metamorphosis, by Franz Kafka is a written
expression of a man s struggle with a life of unsatisfactory expectations. He is so disgusted with his
current prospects of his dreary existence, his only hope of dealing is to reach deep into his mind and
see something other than himself, he, Gregor, found himself changed in his bed into a monstrous
vermin (Damrosch, 2009). How did he get here? How did life, his useless life suck the very humanity
out of him? The family that he made this life altering sacrifice for is changing as well, losing their
humanity, things can t go on like this, we have to try to get rid of it (Damrosch, 2009). A character
analysis of Gregor noted this regarding the family but their metamorphosis are the most profound
because they demonstrate how easily one s beliefs, values, and basic treatment of others can be
compromised because of a failure to adapt psychologically (Article Myriad, 2015). His family was,
but changed mentally and lovingly, but not physically, they could not escape as Gregor had. Gregor
the responsible man must cope with failure or perceived failure of life unrealized. Is this monstrous
vermin (Damrosch, 2009) a depiction of a man who has accepted what his life is and has given up all
hope for change, is death the realization of peace in life? Disgust Gregor was a traveling salesman
who awakened to discover he was not only an insect, but to his own disgust, he

his time in Vienna proves to be essential to understanding the formation of all his ideas. When Hitler s
mother died, he moved to Vienna. Here, he was surrounded by a population of over 2 million people
and the wide boulevards of the city. Hitler settled in a tiny apartment near the Academies school of
fine arts where he was refused admission. In the wake of defeat, Adolf s life took a sudden turn.
Though Vienna was a rich and cultured city, it was not without its seamy side its shabby streets, slums
where prostitutes and derelicts were and a world of lost souls. He remained there for five more years
of which hunger and disgust became his regular companion. He became part of Vienna s lost soul and
he spent time on the streets begging for money and curling up later on park benches. In this time in
Vienna, the Jews were flourishing and they were economically stable. It s even safe to say that Adolph
got his first regular job from a Jew named Josef Neumann, whom he described as very
unsophisticated. During his stay in Vienna, Hitler was opened to many anti Semitic ideas because he
was hanging out with the lowlifes of Vienna and he also often slept in a destitute home for

Vivien Thomas Research Paper
Vivien Thomas was born on August 29th, 1910. He is an African American surgical technician. He is
known for developing procedures that were used to treat blue baby syndrome in the 1940s. However,
Vivien wasn t alone on this. He was an assistant to Alfred Blalock. They worked at an experimental
animal laboratory at Vanderbilt University. It was in Nashville, Tennessee. Due to the circumstances of
racism at the time, he was classified as just a janitor. But, Alfred Blalock ignored that fact and had
Vivien help him with surgery on the dogs. Vivien did surgeries while receiving the pay of someone
who does janitor work. People were always surprised seeing Vivien walk around the building wearing

It also disproved previous theories on the cause of crush syndrome. Alfred was able to gain wide
recognition in the medical community after Vivien and Alfred provided undeniable proof. By the mid
1930s, they began experimental work in vascular and cardiac surgery. This defied medical taboos
against operating on the heart. A decade later, this work would see them saving a life at Johns
Hopkins. While doing this work, Alfred and Vivien would give dogs the blue baby syndrome. They
did this so that they could figure out ways to cure the blue baby syndrome. They did surgery on dog s
hearts in hopes it would reverse the effects and save them from dying. By 1940, Blalock was offered
the position of Chief of Surgery. He requested that Thomas would accompany him. In infants that
have blue baby syndrome, blood is shunted past the lungs and it deprives them of oxygen. This is also
why they turn blue. To cure this defect, it was suggested that it might be possible to reconnect the
pipes in some kind of way. This would be done to increase the level of blood flow to the lungs. On
November 29th, 1944, an eighteen month old named Eileen Saxon was the first infant the procedure
would be tried

The Role Of Leptin And Its Effects On The Reproductive...
Role of leptin in PCOS. Leptin is a hormone secreted mainly from the adipose tissue, serum levels of
which are influenced by obesity, insulin resistance and the levels of sex steroids (androgens and
estrogens) and insulin. It is mainly involved in the regulation of body weight by decreasing appetite
and increasing energy expenditure. Besides regulating the energy metabolism of the body, leptin has
important actions on the reproductive system, which makes it an important link between the adipose
tissue and hypothalamus pituitary gonadal (HPG) axis (2). Long term hyperinsulinemia in humans, as
is the case in PCOS patients, stimulates leptin secretion from adipose tissue (9). Significantly higher
leptin (P = 0.0028), and insulin concentrations, insulin: glucose ratio (IGR), and a significant
correlation between leptin and fasting insulin concentrations, IGR, WHR and LH have been reported
in obese PCOS women than in normal weight women with PCOS. There is a significant negative
correlation between leptin and LH concentrations, independently of either BMI or IGR, suggesting a
possible involvement of leptin in LH hypersecretion (10). Estrogens increase, whereas androgens
suppress leptin production, suggesting sexual dimorphism in leptin levels (2).
The direct and indirect effects of leptin on the HPG axis, such as acceleration of GnRH pulsatility (but
not the pulse amplitude) in a dose dependent manner, suggest that leptin may play an important role in
the pathogenesis of PCOS.

The Great Recession Analysis
The Great Recession was financial down turn that happened from 2007 2009, largely because of the
housing market decline. The term recession refers to any significant decline in an economy that lasts
longer that a few months. Its beginning can be signified by two consecutive negative quarters of
economic growth. The great Recession caused many areas of the economy to struggle, one of the
biggest was the unemployment rate. In December of 2007 the unemployment rate was 5%. From that
point this number grew until it had reached 10% in October of 2010. Due to the unemployment rates
steady rise, the national output decreased.
The government created several programs to help the economy during the Great Recession. One of the

banks so they could clear up their bad lending in the past and gain the confidence to lend money once

signed. This bill helped the government to start using more public spending instead of private. The
implementation of this strategy would lead to the creation and saving of more jobs. To also help
Stabilize the economy the FED added more liquidity to the banking system, conducted stress Tests of
all the major banks, and they were constantly ready to support struggling banks. By adding liquidity
the Fed gave short term loans to banks, by using stress tests the FED worked with banks to make sure
they had enough resources to make it through the current recession and ones to come, and finally by
showing support the FED prevented a loss in confidence of major banks. RGDP or Real Gross

Entrepreneurship can have multiple meanings. Business daily consider it to be a business ventures that

come up with an idea but implementing it to produce change in the world is where the real work starts.
Nikki Durkin, 19 from Australia, is an entrepreneur that thought of an idea that would change women

concept was to give women access to an infinite closet at a fee. 99 Dresses was already successful in

Emma Kart Willard Thesis Statement
Emma Hart Willard was an American educator whose groundbreaking feminist ideas fueled the
development of schools for women and girls. Despite living during an era where women were
regarded as intellectually inferior, Willard managed to progress quickly as an educator, eventually
opening the United States first permanent female seminary. Her tireless efforts towards
revolutionizing and expanding female education opened doors for educated women and helped make
education more gender inclusive.
Born in Connecticut during 1787, Emma Hart Willard was the second youngest of seventeen children.
Fortunately for Willard and her siblings, her father held progressive views regarding education and the
inclusion of women in education. His encouragement resulted in her [acquiring] an education that was
out of the ordinary for girls (Chadwick, n.d., para. 3). Initially, Willard s education was self taught and
a significant part of it was her involvement in family discussions. Her parents and siblings made sure
to include her in conversations about predominantly male topics such as politics, philosophy, world
affairs and mathematics ( Emma Willard , n.d., para. 3). Those discussions only fueled her desire to
learn and at the age of fifteen, Willard enrolled in school for the first time. (Chadwick, n.d., para 3).
Once she was settled into the Berlin Academy, her local school, she began to progress rapidly.
According to the Encyclopædia Britannica (2016), she started teaching at the Berlin Academy two
years after her initial enrollment in 1802. Then, in 1806, she was granted the opportunity to be in
charge of the Berlin Academy for one term. That opportunity no doubt influenced her later actions
regarding the advancement of female education. In 1807, Willard accepted a teaching position in
Massachusetts but she did not remain at the position for long. That same year, she accepted a position
as principal at a girls academy located in Vermont (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica, 2016,
para. 2). Her move to Vermont proved to be an important step in her life. In Vermont, she met her first
husband, John Willard, and was introduced to his nephew, a student at the local college. John Willard s
nephew lived with the couple

The Importance Of Tobroiad Women ( 1988 ) Essay
Introduction The tasks of learning the learning the values that others live is never easy (Weidner ,
1988, pp. 6 7). These were Annette B. Weidner words as written in her article The Importance of
Tobroiad Women (1988) . In this paper, we shall discuss expectations and obstacles that she had to
overcome while on her fieldwork in the Trobriand Islands of Papua Ginuea as well as her and the
process to overcome them.
What was her initial expectation ? In the article Annette Weidner expresses how her initial
expectations were challenged by the transition in cultures. She writes how learning a new cultural and
having to let go of her own were not as easy as expected causing her to rethink each step of her
research (pp. 6 7).
What has shaped her expectations?
It is stated that Weidner had gone with initial expectations based on the Malinowski s writings
(Weidner, 1988, pp 6 7). His findings came to shaped her view on the Trobriand culture due to his
previous research being solely being a matrilineal principle (pp. 6 7) . This caused her to view the
culture in Malinowski s anthropological perspective. This is visible in her article when she states In

Selfishness Essay
Selfishness
Most of us assume that selfishness is both wrong and unhealthy. But is this true?
Selfishness means acting in one s rational self interest. Contrary to popular opinion, all healthy
individuals are selfish. Choosing to pursue the career of your choice is selfish. Choosing to have
children #8212;or not to have children #8212;is selfish. Insisting on freedom and individual rights,
rather than living under a dictatorship, is selfish. Indeed, even ordinary behaviors such as breathing,
eating and avoiding an oncoming car when crossing the street are selfish acts. Without selfishness,
none o f us would survive the day #8212;much less a lifetime.

Or, consider the envious individual who tries to get you to feel guilty for your hard earned success.
You are lucky to have done so well, the envious person says. Now you have a duty to share some of
your success with others. Ce rtainly, a selfish person wants to share his success with those he
genuinely cares about #8212;his family, friends, or children (greater values). But why should he make
sacrifices to individuals he does not know or care about (lesser values)?
Selfish individuals give to charity #8212;if and when they choose. A selfish person is not stingy. He
simply values the use of his own judgment in making decisions about how to spend his money, and
when to give it away.
Most of us assume that some selfishness is healthy, but too much selfishness will lead to loneliness
and despair. This idea rests on an incorrect definition of selfishness. Selfishness means acting in one s
rational self interest. By rational I mean that one can logically prove that an action is in one s self
interest #8212;in the long run as well as the short run.
For instance, Mr. Jones might think that it is in his self interest to cheat on his wife, in the short run.
But if he considers the long term, he will understand that he loses her either way by lying to her. If he
really loves his wife, he will feel te rrible if he lies to her. If he no longer loves his wife, it is

Bad Girl Thesis
Back in 1994, popular culture was rabidly obsessed with figure skating thanks to Tonya Harding
(Margot Robbie), the bad girl who was accused of coordinating an attack on her skating rival, Nancy
Kerrigan. Tonya s skuzzy husband, Jeff Gillooly (Sebastian Stan), had hired a friend to intimidate
Kerrigan, and the end result was a broken knee and the world famous outcry of, Why?! I, Tonya takes
a look at the players of this media circus and lets them tell their own stories in their own words.
I,Tonya feels brazenly like a Scorsese movie populated with kooky Coen brothers characters. Director
Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl) cribs from the best and uses all those propulsive camera
moves, voice over leading to fourth wall breaking, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She s definitely unrepentant in the movie while at the same time asking you to view her with an
empathy that was lacking during the parade of 1990s tabloids. She s an abuse survivor who had to
claw for every advantage she could earn. You might not like her, or maybe you ll grow to appreciate
her, but you will understand her better. Robbie is outstanding, Janney is highly memorable and
perfectly cast, and the direction provides plenty of jolts, from electric camerawork to the energetic
propulsion through its diverging viewpoints. The dark comedy works, the serious drama works, and
the domestic violence is not trivialized with so many ironic winks. I, Tonya is an unflinching expose
that forces you to question the validity of everything. It s a movie that dares you to question your
perceptions while you re keenly watching. Perhaps twenty years later, Tonya Harding will get

Comparison Of Alaskan Climate And Climate
Alaskan Climate and Geography Alaska has a cooler climate during the summer and in the winter.
There are all kinds of mountains in Alaska, some, big and small. Glaciers are also another part of
Alaska, they vary in size depending on the how long they have been there. Factors are apart of Alaska
s nature are the Climate, the mountains, and the glaciers. The climate in Alaska has four different
zones. Temperatures vary from time to time and depending on the area and zone that they are in. The
zones are Maritime, continental, transitional, and arctic(Alaska Climate). Warm pacific water and the

The Mendenhall is a glacier that is well known by the people of Alaska . The Mendenhall glacier is
twelve miles in length, one and half miles wide, and one hundred feet in height. The Sitaauntaagu
glacier was the orginal name for the Mendenhall glacier, Sitaauntaagu means glacier behind the town.
(Mendenhall glacier). Another Alaskan glacier is Glacier Bay. The Grand Pacific Glacier covered
Glacier Bay making the glacier more than four thousand feet thick and twenty miles wide. The ice
retreated and now Glacier Bay is sixty five miles long. Once the glacier diminished in size there were
twenty separate glaciers. Eleven out of the twenty were tidewater glaciers that calve into the bay.
People or objects can not get closer that two miles by sea otherwise ice breaks off the cliff(Glacier bay

and was two miles wide, then shrunk and receded and does not reach the sea any longer.(Glacier bay).
Malaspina Glacier is another glacier that is popular. The Malaspina glacier is one thousand feet thick
and covers approximately fifteen hundred square miles. The ice field flows one hundred and fifty

Freight Vs Scripture
FedEx Freight vs. Scripture: Putting people first.
FedEx Freight attempts to put people first by: Allowing the freedom to generate and express ideas;
through providing the ability to hold management accountable; and by encouraging decision making
capability (Hess Cameron, 2006, pp.29 54). These methods are encouraged within job structures while
simultaneously providing the necessary resources the employees need to accomplish their assigned
tasks. This process of putting people first is effective as long as it is a top down approach. Leadership
must show that these values are real by modeling a do as I do attitude instead of do as I say.
The Scriptures certainly teach people to put others first (KJV, Matt 7:12, Luke 6:31), and it encourages
free thought within biblical parameters. FedEx is similar to the Bible methodology in that it
encourages people to help others and build relationships; however, there is one major difference. All
of the things that FedEx is attempting to do are things that upper management chose to do. Upper
management chose the culture they thought was best and then they have spent the next several years
forcing it on the entire organization. They failed to work as a cohesive unit and see what the people.
This forced acceptance happens in many organizations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
FedEx should have involved the employees in developing the values of the organization. Scholars call
this concept employee engagement, and it is part of strategic management (Marcos Solomon, 2010,

Mobility
Mobility Case Study
NU 1326
Christopher Vang
April 7 2015
Dealing with immobile patients is a big part of a registered nurse s daily tasks. Mrs. Simmons a 78
year old patient who fell and broke her hip must be carefully monitored so that she does not develop
further health problems. It is important to monitor and act accordingly with immobile patients,
because failure to do so can result in health risks and complications. Not only do immobile patients
require a different level of care, their rehabilitation is also different based on the reason as to why they
are immobile. Besides keeping the patient safe and secure it is also important to keep the attending
nurse safe by using the proper lifting and moving techniques, as well as the ... Show more content on

Using the proper lifting or movement technique is also another way to reduce strain on the
musculoskeletal system. The nurse can do this by shifting the center of gravity lower and keeping a
wide base of support that does not move easily. Additionally making sure that the bed is in the optimal
position for any type of movement is essential because it keeps the patient and nurse safe. Mrs.
Simmons was discharged by the physician with a partial cast which would require supplemental
teaching from the nurse. To keep her range of motion and other joints mobile the nurse must come up
with a exercise routine that the patient feels they can keep up with, such as lifting soup cans. If given a
cane or crutches the nurse must explain how to use them properly, as well as the different ways that
she could use them to walk. Finally the nurse can help keep Mrs. Simmons mobile by educating her
on the importance of keeping mobile so that her other joints does not atrophy. There are many reasons
why it is important to keep patients mobile, even when they are in a position where extended activity
is not feasible. Mrs. Simmons is at risk for many health ailments because of her immobility, some of
which include pressure ulcers, muscle weakness, and Atelectasis. Her attending nurse must keep these
in mind when talking to her about repositioning and also use the proper movement techniques and
assistive devices. Not only does the nurse have to keep Mrs. Simmons from developing health

Examples Of Dramatic Irony In The Masque Of The Red Death
In the same way, dramatic irony is when the reader knows something that the characters do not, which
causes the reader to fear or dread what they suspect will happen. The first indication of dramatic irony
is in Masque of the Red Death when the black room with the blood red windows is described. This
description creates a bad feeling about the room and the reader senses something bad will happen in
that room. This idea is proven later when the Prince dies in that room. Another example of dramatic
irony is demonstrated in Terrible Things when Bunting writes We have come for any creature that is
white, the Terrible Things thundered. There are no white creatures here but us (Bunting, Three). This

understand that the Terrible Things are there for them, but the reader has this realization. This alarms
the readers and causes one to dread what will happen to the rabbits. One more example of how
dramatic irony builds suspense in stories is in The Lottery when Tessie says I think we ought to start
over Mrs. Hutchinson said... I tell you it wasn t fair... you didn t give him enough time. Everybody
saw that (Jackson, Four). This quotation is a good example of dramatic irony because when Tessie
started causing a scene the reader begins to suspect that she will be the one who is chosen. This is
significant because her pleading adds to the audience s fear of not knowing what will happen to the

Analysis Of Grendel s Grendel
Martin Mraz
Common Core English IV
March 9, 2017
Grendel s Pain
In John Gardner s Grendel, Grendel states, Tedium is the worst pain (138). Grendel views boredom as
an expression of his painful, purposeless existence. Perpetual boredom has steadily increased and
intensifies in chapter ten leading Grendel to be anxious for something to happen. Ironically, Grendel
claims nothing is happening, and all is boring, yet filled with longing and expecting for something big
to happen soon. Grendel s search intensifies and becomes desperate at the event of the Shaper s death.
He feels utterly alone and isolated. It seems Grendel can only talk to himself. In Chapter ten Gardner
examines the significance of the astrological sign Capricorn, the ... Show more content on

His bleak assessment of man s state is heard in the icy statement, The world is white (148). Grendel
believes himself to be the only one moved by the old priest s words while standing in frozen company
in the shadow of a funeral fire. Is he the only one moved by the Shaper s death? Grendel sees
everyone as stiff and frozen blue like ice. His own mother acts only to prevent him from deepening his
pessimistic tendency revealed by the loss. She tries to get in his way. She attempts to block his view of
the funeral procession. Grendel s Nietzschean philosophy continues to take shape in the wake of the
Shaper s death. Grendel groans, We re on our own again. Abandoned (149).
Grendel prefers to develop a loneliness and Isolation theme as he struggles for identity and purpose in
life. He journeys past his mother s attempts to protect him from feeling and moves her aside even
though she is pained by his cool objection. Her whoops cannot stop him from moving on as he
comforts himself to believe, I will forget, tomorrow, so her pain is a matter of indifference (147). His
independent spirit persists in conflicted loneliness. The Shaper s hopeful song about thaw and spring
rain echoes from the lips of a young man only to meet empty, lonely space within Grendel. The people
solemnly listen in funeral waiting and a distracted, dry eyed king is seen by all to be unmoved.
Grendel is restless and continues to move forward with his lonely,

Seven different Muslim nations decided to join under one banner. While they retain their names,
together they call themselves the United Arab Emirates (UAE). A nation of approximately 5,927,482
people, and the size of the state of Indiana, it is no wonder why they are comprised of many
nationalities. Investigating this nation s culture has been an enlightening experience. Furthermore,
understanding this sovereign states government, culture, and its rich ties to the United States of
America, helps to define why both nations come together to defeat terrorism with combined air

They also touch their heads in manner similar to a salute. As you can see, greetings among close
companions in both nations have similar customary actions during their introductions to one another.
Though you see similarities in their greetings, there are stark diversities among the cultures.
Therefore, understanding interactions within Muslim states is important to the overall concept of their
culture. Many American men and women tend to sit with their legs crossed. There are many occasions
when people within the country, sit with their feet propped up on something. For the American culture,
this is a normal action. Showing the sole of your foot to someone in America does not register as
disrespect to Americans. The people of the UAE find this gesture is a clear sign of disrespect. This
article has revealed the cause of this belief is due to the foot being the lowest part of the body, and
because it stays in contact with the ground. Understanding the way they do their business deals is
another way to explain their culture. Networking the Arabian way or Wasta, is the way the natives
explain business dealings with other people. This means, in order to have a successful business
relationship with someone, you must first build a personal relationship with them. A business
relationship built that grows out of a personal relationship helps to ensure that deals run smoothly and
efficiently. The people of UAE learned this lesson from when they were

Measles Virus Research Papers
An organism as complex as the species Homo sapiens is subjected to a host of pathogenic microbes.
These can be viruses, infectious proteins (known as prions), or other lifeforms such as bacteria,
fungus, and helminths. The Measles virus is an enveloped virus with a single strand, non segmented
negative sense RNA genome which is transmitted via the respiratory route (Laksono, et. al). Having
been first written of more than a century ago, medical understanding of the virus has advanced
significantly leading to the development of vaccine in 1963 (Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention). However, since the 1998 article in The Lancet by Andrew Wakefield, which purported a
link between the combined MMR Vaccine and autism, a resurgence of infection ... Show more content

Despite not having met their goal, Measles was indeed declared eliminated in 2000. The World Health
Organization defines elimination as the absence of endemic cases for a period of twelve months or
more, in the presence of adequate surveillance. Since the start of the post elimination era, incidence of
Measles has been on the rise due to a growing concern over a proposed link between the MMR
vaccine and autism spectrum disorder. This controversy began in 1998, with the publication of MMR
Vaccine and autism by now discredited author Andrew Wakefield. Despite retraction of the article by
The Lancet journal, growing civic concern led to many children not receiving the vaccine and
outbreaks occurring. In totality, Measles continues to be an integral part of the human experience and
the need to understand it has not diminished with time.

Fiction or Nonfiction, War Has the Same Effect Essays
A true war story is not always true. Some would say a true war story is an experience from war.
Others, who came from war, would say they make up stories to make war seem crazier than it really
is. Tim O Brian states that the story is fiction, but the moral is true. Tracy Kidder had written war
stories based on his time in Vietnam, and his book is rated as nonfiction, even though he admits that
some war stories are made up. Contained within The Things They Carried, is a story by a man named
Mitchell Sanders. Sanders tells a story about a group of soldiers that camped on a listening mission,
and all they did was listen. They heard many different noises, and paranoia hit them. They ordered

The fact that Bill s major wound is from being drunk doesn t help with the believing part. Bill later
states that he may have made some pieces up to make his stories sound exciting (Kidder 8). He doesn t
want to seem like the loser that did nothing in the war. He wants to be the hero, but the more lies he
tells, the more he believes them. Between the two stories, they are both believable, but they both have
a possibility of being false. In Sanders story, He explains a very detailed story of soldiers hallucinating
strange noises after doing nothing but laying and listening (O Brien 74). This seems true because
people can tend to go insane if they do nothing for about a week. The piece that makes this
unbelievable is the fact that Sanders says he made the story up, but the moral is true. Bill s story seems
true, because people do not know what to expect from war, except for dreadful moments, and Bill s
losing of his good friend is a dreadful moment indeed (Kidder 8). The drawback about Bill s story is
the fact that his greatest wound happened when he was drunk, so the question is if Bill made his story
up to make himself look better. According to O Brien, a true war story isn t always true. The story can
be completely false, but the point the writer/speaker is trying to get across could be the greatest advice
a person could receive. The key to listening to a war story is to listen, just like Sanders story (O Brien
74). Also, The moral of a true war

  • 3. Authentic And Cultural Background Of The Apache Authentic and Cultural Background of the Apache The Athapaskan talking individuals of the Southwest, whom the Spanish and the Pueblos would call Apaches, initially originated from areas well north of the Canadian fringe. They entered the fields at some point going before the Columbian voyage, most likely pursuing the developing crowds of wild ox that rose after 1200, and they assembled another economy and social structure tweaked to the necessities of the occasionally troublesome environment. From there on Apache populaces developed, and by 1700 they ruled the western segments of the southern fields and the mountains of New Mexico. Apaches, more than whatever other gathering, tested the Pueblo Indian populaces and also the infringing Spaniards for control of the political economy of the Southwest. The Apaches made a place for themselves in the Southwest at an extremely troublesome time in history, when other tribal social orders endured decrease and demolition. The Apaches survived and flourished outside the Spanish frontier framework fundamentally in light of the fact that they adjusted to the changing biological systems of the Southwest; they modified their economy by making new techniques for generation and extending or contracting sociopolitical structures to meet financial requests. Every now and again such changes incorporated the appropriation of specific parts of European culture, for illustration, altered types of pastoralism. Apaches ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The United Sates is the clear leader among modern, stable democratic nations in its rates of homicides, assault, rape, and robbery, and it is among the highest in incidents of group violence and assassinations. This high level of violence is dangerous to our society. It is disfiguring out society making fortresses of portions of our cities and dividing our people into armed camps. It is jeopardizing to some of our most precious institutions; among them our schools and universities poisoning the spirit of trust and cooperation that is essential to their proper functioning. In the past years until now, violence among children has increased dramatically. Cases have been reported where grade school students take guns and other weapons to school and use them against their teachers and classmates. Things of that sort are very much a reality for schools around the country. Is the reason for these acts of violence that children are becoming more aggressive at younger ages? Does, the media have to do something with the increase in violence of young children, the fact that the media has more violence in it than any other point in history? It could be a combination of things, including work, single parents, peer pressures, etc. The true concern is that the media entertains children with violent shows, which are aimed at them. Some networks agreed to place advisories warning before and the prime time television programs which they determined ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Problems make relationships substantial and the lack of them would seem too quixotic, making it very stereotyped and dull for my taste. This poem is a rainbow put into words, it illustrates an ideal relationship that could be considered mythical. Anne Bradstreet seems to image a matrimony, she aspired to possess. If ever two were one, then surely we / If ever man were loved by wife, then thee; (1 2) these lines give you the impression that she has an exaggerate self opinion towards her love life, which she set side by side to other relationships, to make evident that hers was more valuable than any other. Next she writes If ever wife was happy in a man, /Compare with me ye women if you can. (3 4)She continues the anaphora by insisting that nobody can compare with her, in ... Bradstreet reveals she is a possessive partner, jealousy is often a sign of a low self esteem. However, she includes the religious belief to distract the audience from evidently finding out she is selfish and she really needs her husband to be with her every time while their existence continues, so they can still remain together when they ascend to heaven. Anne Bradstreet was a love desperate and needy wife with many insecurities towards her relationship with her partner. How A Man Copes With Life Unrealized Essay How a Man Copes with Life Unrealized (Death) The Metamorphosis, by Franz Kafka is a written expression of a man s struggle with a life of unsatisfactory expectations. He is so disgusted with his current prospects of his dreary existence, his only hope of dealing is to reach deep into his mind and see something other than himself, he, Gregor, found himself changed in his bed into a monstrous vermin (Damrosch, 2009). How did he get here? How did life, his useless life suck the very humanity out of him? The family that he made this life altering sacrifice for is changing as well, losing their humanity, things can t go on like this, we have to try to get rid of it (Damrosch, 2009). A character analysis of Gregor noted this regarding the family but their metamorphosis are the most profound because they demonstrate how easily one s beliefs, values, and basic treatment of others can be compromised because of a failure to adapt psychologically (Article Myriad, 2015). His family was, but changed mentally and lovingly, but not physically, they could not escape as Gregor had. Gregor the responsible man must cope with failure or perceived failure of life unrealized. Is this monstrous vermin (Damrosch, 2009) a depiction of a man who has accepted what his life is and has given up all hope for change, is death the realization of peace in life? Hitler settled in a tiny apartment near the Academies school of fine arts where he was refused admission. In the wake of defeat, Adolf s life took a sudden turn. Though Vienna was a rich and cultured city, it was not without its seamy side its shabby streets, slums where prostitutes and derelicts were and a world of lost souls. He remained there for five more years of which hunger and disgust became his regular companion. He became part of Vienna s lost soul and he spent time on the streets begging for money and curling up later on park benches. In this time in Vienna, the Jews were flourishing and they were economically stable. It s even safe to say that Adolph got his first regular job from a Jew named Josef Neumann, whom he described as very unsophisticated. He is known for developing procedures that were used to treat blue baby syndrome in the 1940s. However, Vivien wasn t alone on this. He was an assistant to Alfred Blalock. They worked at an experimental animal laboratory at Vanderbilt University. It was in Nashville, Tennessee. Due to the circumstances of racism at the time, he was classified as just a janitor. By the mid 1930s, they began experimental work in vascular and cardiac surgery. This defied medical taboos against operating on the heart. A decade later, this work would see them saving a life at Johns Hopkins. While doing this work, Alfred and Vivien would give dogs the blue baby syndrome. They did this so that they could figure out ways to cure the blue baby syndrome. They did surgery on dog s hearts in hopes it would reverse the effects and save them from dying. By 1940, Blalock was offered the position of Chief of Surgery. He requested that Thomas would accompany him. In infants that have blue baby syndrome, blood is shunted past the lungs and it deprives them of oxygen. This is also why they turn blue. To cure this defect, it was suggested that it might be possible to reconnect the pipes in some kind of way. This would be done to increase the level of blood flow to the lungs. • 12. The Role Of Leptin And Its Effects On The Reproductive... Role of leptin in PCOS. Leptin is a hormone secreted mainly from the adipose tissue, serum levels of which are influenced by obesity, insulin resistance and the levels of sex steroids (androgens and estrogens) and insulin. It is mainly involved in the regulation of body weight by decreasing appetite and increasing energy expenditure. Besides regulating the energy metabolism of the body, leptin has important actions on the reproductive system, which makes it an important link between the adipose tissue and hypothalamus pituitary gonadal (HPG) axis (2). Long term hyperinsulinemia in humans, as is the case in PCOS patients, stimulates leptin secretion from adipose tissue (9). Significantly higher leptin (P = 0.0028), and insulin concentrations, insulin: glucose ratio (IGR), and a significant correlation between leptin and fasting insulin concentrations, IGR, WHR and LH have been reported in obese PCOS women than in normal weight women with PCOS. There is a significant negative correlation between leptin and LH concentrations, independently of either BMI or IGR, suggesting a possible involvement of leptin in LH hypersecretion (10). Estrogens increase, whereas androgens suppress leptin production, suggesting sexual dimorphism in leptin levels (2). The direct and indirect effects of leptin on the HPG axis, such as acceleration of GnRH pulsatility (but not the pulse amplitude) in a dose dependent manner, suggest that leptin may play an important role in the pathogenesis of PCOS. ... The implementation of this strategy would lead to the creation and saving of more jobs. To also help Stabilize the economy the FED added more liquidity to the banking system, conducted stress Tests of all the major banks, and they were constantly ready to support struggling banks. By adding liquidity the Fed gave short term loans to banks, by using stress tests the FED worked with banks to make sure they had enough resources to make it through the current recession and ones to come, and finally by showing support the FED prevented a loss in confidence of major banks. • 15. Emma Kart Willard Thesis Statement Emma Hart Willard was an American educator whose groundbreaking feminist ideas fueled the development of schools for women and girls. Despite living during an era where women were regarded as intellectually inferior, Willard managed to progress quickly as an educator, eventually opening the United States first permanent female seminary. Her tireless efforts towards revolutionizing and expanding female education opened doors for educated women and helped make education more gender inclusive. Born in Connecticut during 1787, Emma Hart Willard was the second youngest of seventeen children. Fortunately for Willard and her siblings, her father held progressive views regarding education and the inclusion of women in education. His encouragement resulted in her [acquiring] an education that was out of the ordinary for girls (Chadwick, n.d., para. 3). Initially, Willard s education was self taught and a significant part of it was her involvement in family discussions. Her parents and siblings made sure to include her in conversations about predominantly male topics such as politics, philosophy, world affairs and mathematics ( Emma Willard , n.d., para. 3). Those discussions only fueled her desire to learn and at the age of fifteen, Willard enrolled in school for the first time. (Chadwick, n.d., para 3). Once she was settled into the Berlin Academy, her local school, she began to progress rapidly. According to the Encyclopædia Britannica (2016), she started teaching at the Berlin Academy two years after her initial enrollment in 1802. Then, in 1806, she was granted the opportunity to be in charge of the Berlin Academy for one term. That opportunity no doubt influenced her later actions regarding the advancement of female education. In 1807, Willard accepted a teaching position in Massachusetts but she did not remain at the position for long. That same year, she accepted a position as principal at a girls academy located in Vermont (The Editors of Encyclopædia Britannica, 2016, para. 2). Her move to Vermont proved to be an important step in her life. In Vermont, she met her first husband, John Willard, and was introduced to his nephew, a student at the local college. The Renaissance was largely known for its contributions to architecture, literature, and painting. Common features that were lacking in gothic Cathedrals during the Renaissance were domes (Scannell). Saint Thomas Aquinas said that Confirmation and baptism are closely related like water is a river. The confirmation candidates should be in a state of grace. Confirmation is received by people who are committing mortal sins. Saint Thomas thought that Confirmation was not created as necessary for salvation, but that by virtue thereof we might be found well prepared when we are called upon to fight for Christ. The institute of Confirmation belongs to Christ alone and we need to realize that this is a close and intimate sacrament, Christ did not just show up and give it to us, it is granted. FedEx Freight attempts to put people first by: Allowing the freedom to generate and express ideas; through providing the ability to hold management accountable; and by encouraging decision making capability (Hess Cameron, 2006, pp.29 54). These methods are encouraged within job structures while simultaneously providing the necessary resources the employees need to accomplish their assigned tasks.
