Adam and Eve
The term subordination is used frequently in the context of Trinitarian discussion, and has a clearly
defined usage. Theologians of the past have spoken in some sense of the subordination of the Son and
the Spirit within the boundaries of orthodoxy. However, how do we define it when it comes to women
and the church? The story of Adam and Eve is a great place to start. It brings with it all of the elements
of love, respect, partnership, and subordination all rolled together. When I first started to research this
paper I was under the misguided assumption that Adam and Eve went down together. As my paper
evolved you will see I learned a little bit differently. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Feminists argue that women have had to struggle to overcome the patriarchally structured churches.
While scholars in ecclesiastical history and related fields have undoubtedly been influenced by the
huge developments in both women s history and gender history in the larger arena of historical
scholarship, they have also been influenced by the questions raised by feminist theologians about the
viability of women remaining within the Churches and the outworking of Christian doctrine in the
women s lives.
Origins have therefore become important to some feminist scholars, especially those of faith, in a
rather distinctive way, as they have sought to bring to light and , in some cases, discover evidence for
the ways in which the Christian tradition has in at least some of its roots an equal place for women
(Shaw, 2004). The place of women and, indeed, men in the early Churches is a historical subject
which is seen to have relevance to individuals and the Churches today: while Churches are still
debating the validity of the ordination of women, and even the extent to which laywomen can
participate in the worship and ministry of the Church, it is not possible to shy away from this.
One of the great strengths of feminist scholarship has been to show that no scholar works from a
neutral starting point: the selection of topic and the evidence on which historians choose to focus are
shaped by their presuppositions. Ecclesiastical historians, influenced by their

Freedom In Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron
Freedom has always been a very important aspect in American culture, it allows people to have the
opportunity to speak, act and pursue happiness without having any restrictions forced upon us. In Kurt
Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron freedom is no longer known as one of the most important foundation to
American culture, like it has been for generations. But now in this futuristic society depicted by
Vonnegut, enforcing the law that makes those who are above normal equal to those who are normal
has become one of the main priorities. In this society, all living people are equal in every which way.
This type of equality is only focused on altering beauty, strength and intelligence instead of
concentrating on the main problems of race, religion, and sex, the true issues we face as a society.
Although many people believe total equality is something that we should all strive for, it is just a
misguided goal that is both dangerous in execution and outcome. To accomplish physical and mental
equality among all Americans, the government forces its citizens to wear handicaps so everyone can
meet this certain standard the government and the United States Handicapper General has set out for
them to follow. Kurt Vonnegut illustrates the theme of freedom in Harrison Bergeron ... Show more

The government has forced equality laws on people s lives, this equality is not achieved but forced
into their lives by the 211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments of the Constitution. So, anyone who is
more than average in intelligence, beauty, or strength is forced to wear handicaps which make them be
normal. The story depicts society s vain search for absolute equality. Specifically this new world does
not attempt to raise standards for the disabled or handicapped but rather chooses to implement a more
onerous solution to impede

Features Of Writing A Review At A Professional Standard
Regardless of the object being reviewed, there are a number of essential features of writing a review at
a professional standard. This essay will examine each of those features with reference to two reviews
of films which explore a specific theme.
Firstly, however, the meaning of the term professional standard must be established. There are
standards that all professions must follow. These are to do with ethics and values. At the very least,
standards of professionalism indicate a level of expertise , separating those who are considered
professional from the amateur. Merely deriving an income from writing a review is not proof that a
professional standard has been met. The NSW Professional Standards Council claims that any
attempts to define standards of professionalism typically centralise around some sort of moral or
ethical foundation within the practice of a specific and usually established expertise .
A standard attributable to being professional can also indicate a level of quality or attainment. An
individual review may be at a reasonably high standard but what makes it professional ?
By way of analogy, there are particular essential ingredients when baking a sponge cake... a pinch of
this and teaspoon of that. We all know, however, that, even though the same recipe has been followed,
there are sponge cakes and there are sponge cakes. Similarly reviewers may follow the same standard
format and ensure their reviews

The Importance Of Human Physical Strength In The Ancient...
Humans in the ancient world definitely took advantage of their physical strength. Five great examples
of this are: building roads, quarrying, operating cranes, digging wells, and constructing tunnels. All of
these tasks could only be completed with an immense amount of endurance and strength. Anything
from laying rocks to digging out an entire tunnel was a difficult and grueling task. In many cases, a
great deal of human physical strength was required to fully exploit the technologies and technical
practices developed in the ancient world. Building roadways in ancient Italy required an extensive
amount of physical strength. Creating roadways required quarrying, lumbering, and drainage (Oleson).
The workers initially began by placing curb stones to create the defined border of the road (Oleson).
Ditches were dug on the outside of both rows of curb stones for storm drainage (Oleson). The land
between the curb stones was then completely removed by a large amount of digging and cutting
(Oleson). The excavated ditch was then filled with stones, sand, and other materials that were dug up
from the ditches or the land around the road, forming a solid foundation (Oleson). Laying down
gravel, carrying the stones, transporting them, and carefully placing them down required a great deal
of upper and lower body strength. On top of the layer of stones and sand was a layer of finer gravel
(Oleson). The top layer of the road was made of polygonal basalt blocks that formed a

The Greatest Influence Of A Leader
As I try to think of the person who has had the most influence as a leader in my life two people
promptly come to mind. The first is my father, Cornelius Sims aka Bull, and the second is Robert
Johns. Robert Johns was my mission president when I served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Dominican Republic Santo Domingo East Mission. Both have been
superior examples of a leader in my life. Both have loved me and shown me patience in times where I
was more than difficult. Both have been excellent examples of a daddy and a husband. With that said,
I have decided to write about my father in this paper. However, there have been a plethora of events in
which he demonstrated leadership in my life. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There have been many of these stories which were hilarious and I enjoy hearing them over and over,
others were not so fun to hear. My father is a hardworking man as well as a family man. He was a
strong proponent of discipline for his children and expected us to be respectful and to obey the rules.
My earliest memories of my father were him working at Louisiana Downs, during the racing season,
as an assistant horse trainer and as a semi truck driver during the down time. He would often take my
older sister and me to the track or in the semi with him so we could work with him. He was well
respected at the track and people were naturally drawn to him. It may have been his big smile, which
he does not like to share in pictures, his stories, or his willingness to help others and the respect he
expressed to others. In 1985, my parents decided to move the family to Fairbanks, Alaska which is
where the majority of my mother s family was living. My father drove my mom, my older sister, and
me to California where we met up with my aunt and her family to continue the drive to Alaska. While
in California, my mother was involved in pedestrian versus car collision in a gas station parking lot.
The operator of the vehicle responsible for the collision was an intoxicated male. This resulted in the
first time I ever saw my father yell out of anger at another person. My uncles had to restrain my father

Life at the periphery: The Bluest Eye, Vanitha P, mentions how Pecola sat for long hours looking in

and sees that everyone in her eyes thinks she ugly. But it comes from her family thinking that they all

a different prospective of what she sees and what people would see in her. With her seating in the

The Beach Descriptive Essay
A dark lane, dark towers and a pitch gloomy sun passed by me as I followed my path beneath a cloak
of darkness. As I walked down Grey Street, I outstretched for that recognisable wall but didn t find
anything to guide me further. Through walls, through windows, perhaps right beside me I was exposed
to expressions reverberating in puzzlement.
As I carefully strolled down the lane, I know you sympathised me. Your glorious gift allowed me to
see the elegant and vibrant horizon, disperse into a brilliant mixture of colours alongside the
glimmering crystal. As the unforgiving light exposed the world s paleness and blemishes, I know you
had the gift of seeing the specks of sand flicker above the ground, For I was trapped in darkness. ...

In my frantic surge to escape from my nightmare, I grasped my lantern and tossed it across the
ground. I felt no remorse as I heard it smash into tiny fragments along the grey tiles. What good was a
lantern when light failed to exist? My mother swept the pieces to the side of the household and sat by
my side As I glance upon her face filled with emotion, nothing but darkness watched down on me. It
was a silent reminder that I would never see her expression again; that I would never see her giggle at
times of pure joy. At that moment my entire body filled with agony. When I asked her if all had been
lost, I heard a calm yawn as she drew me into her arms. She told me that there is no light without
darkness, that my ability to choose my answer; to alter my decisions in an unchanged situation will
never be taken from me.
She voiced that this world could be sculpture for my thoughts and inspiration. One autumn morning, A
minor echo in the distance awakened me. A bleak thin gust of wind swept past my face roaring and
rattling along the housetops, as fragrances of peach and jasmine overpowered my nostrils. The vague
echo became a vibration as I felt it come closer and closer like the grumble of a hurrying cavalry. The
gusty winds sent leaves lightly trembling down onto the ground, making no sound effects. Branches
intertwined in and out of each other as if they were in there own private dance. For a second, the

African American Icon Tyler Perry Characteristics
African American Icon Tyler Perry
I remember the first time I watched a Tyler Perry played at my house when I was younger it was the
funniest play I had ever saw. Madea`s Class Reunion was first piece I laughed so hard that tears were
coming out of my eye. I have watched every single play Tyler Perry created from that day forward.
Perry`s life had been a great motivation of mine since I heard of his dedication and work ethic
throughout his entire life. Hearing his life story knowing what he has gone through is astonishing to
me and I bow my head down to him for all his accomplishments through his hardships. Being a young
inspired young actor his work on and off the camera is remarkable. He has open the doors up for many
of us young African Americans into careers in media and arts.
His filming style as a director would best be described as black feminism but also approval. His films
project the idea of a single unified gender oppression that is experienced evenly by all women but
rather is dictated by the color of your skin. In his films he focusses on the vocal point of African
American women entitlement in the world today. Also the empowerment aspect is very bold in his
movies because usually by the end of these films his main character is improves throughout her
hardship and journey. His films have focused mainly on African American problems or success.
Overall Tyler Perry s signature style is that of a realist. Real people with real issues that find their

Stagecoach Film Essay
In the film Stagecoach (John Ford, 1939) the Western characteristics of this film are that the cowboys
in the film are resourceful and restricted to no one. They are fully competent of roaming the frontier
on their own without having to rely on the securities of civilization. Yet they also have a code of
honor; although they are ruggedly independent, the cowboys respect the rules of society and is
unwilling to exploit others or to condone the careless disregard for human life exhibited by outlaws or
stereotypically Indians.
Though the passengers begin the film as simple types, their confinement in the small stagecoach
allows layers to be peeled back, revealing more characters. Social prejudice is displayed by more
proper society types like Lucy and the banker against the hard drinking doctor and the woman of a bad

The film Australia starts like a cheesy slapstick comedy, turns into a romantic daydream, then into an
outback adventure, then into a war movie, and then a genuine drama. This film is all over the place
and really is just too much. This film does however use the Western characteristic and landscape in
that it represents stories of older times. It is a fictional historical costume drama set before and during
World War II. The reason I say that it is a fictional historical film is that it has silly facts about the
Japanese being near Australian soil during World War II when that was actually not the case. There are
the typical horse scenes and Lady Sarah Ashley is the damsel in distress trying to herd her cattle with
the help from her husband s drover. I feel like this film is just a mockery of the Western genre and it
should not be categorized as one. The film only uses cattle ranching as an excuse to steal iconography
from Hollywood Westerns, specifically a 1930s John Ford cowboy motion picture

Summary Of The Greatest Generation By Tom Brokaw
The stories of 47 Americans and their contribution to World War II as well as the struggles they faced
were written down and shared through this book. Tom Brokaw, the author, shared some of their
memories, dreams they had, their jobs, and how the war affected each of them personally. This book
exposed this generation s remarkable bravery, their patriotism, and their accomplishments. Along with
that, similar personal values, goals (both spoken and unspoken), and personality traits were shared
between many of them. This particular group of Americans were modest people who often put the
needs of others before their own. Many of them didn t go to college right away so they could fight for
their country. These Americans often knew what they wanted and they were more than willing to work

They didn t enlist in the military for bragging rights. They were humble and modest and seldom talked
about their war experience even years after the war ended. Thus proving it was for the country as well
as our allies and not for themselves or their reputation. Those reasons could be why Tom Brokaw
considers them to be the greatest generation, but I don t feel the same way he does. Although I believe
this generation is full of extraordinary people, I don t think they re the greatest generation . They are
one of the most patriotic generations, but I don t think patriotism defines your greatness. This
particular generation may have had a lot of humble people, but not all were. Many of them were racist
and/or sexist and weren t so secretive about it and were often blatant with their discrimination to
women and people of various minorities. Browkaw found many humble and good hearted people in
this generation, but as a whole they wasn t perfect and no generation will be. If you ask me, I don t
believe you can compare generations because they lived in different times and things do

Psalm 24
Next, with the capacity to divaricate into three distinct thought components, Psalm 24 actually has
congruence, as it covers a sequential range of actions which include declaration, preparation and
finally praise. It is also considered to be a liturgical psalm due to the manner of wording and
conveyance of access requirements with regard to being fit to enter the temple for worship unto God
(Varughese, n.d., p. 7). One course of thought among scholars and commentators for this psalm, is that
it likely embodies the time when the David brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed edom
into the city of David with gladness (2 Samuel 6:12, New American Standard Bible; Kidner, 2014, p.

As mentioned previously, within this psalm, there are three distinct strophes, or stanzas, in view.
Bullock (2005) noted that, at the heart of Hebrew poetry is a device called parallelism (p. 36). Several
instances of parallelism are found in Psalm 24, and especially in the first two strophes. For example,
in the first distich, we see David proclaiming that The earth is the Lord s, and all it contains, the
world, and those who dwell in it (Psalm 24:1, King James Version). These two units are an example of
synonymous parallelism, which Bullock (2005) noted as meaning that the thought pattern in one line
conforms to the pattern in the successive line (p. 36, BULLOCK, PARAPHRASE THIS). Next, in
verses three and four, we find the psalmist using a form of synthetic parallelism, which involves the
second line solving or completing the thought of the first line (Owensboro Community and Technical
College, n.d., para. 7). This can be seen in verse three when David asks the questions Who may ascend
into the hill of the Lord? And who may stand in His holy place and then answers in the next verse with
He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood and has not
sworn deceitfully (Psalm 24:3 4, King James

Title: Sex Education and Birth Control should be enforced to prevent Teenage Pregnancies
Approximately one million teens get pregnant and give birth every year in the United States. Eighty
percent of those births are to unmarried teens (ProQuest Staff) . Teenage Pregnancy is when a
mentally immature female adolescent under the age of nineteen is pregnant. Pregnant Teenagers would
have to face many consequences and problems because they are physically and mentally unprepared
to have babies. The teenagers futures would be limited because they would have to quit high school to
care for their babies and it have been proven that the adolescents would mostly be poor when they
become adults. They would also be prone to health problems like high blood pressure, premature
birth, postpartum depression, STDs, etc. The teenagers would not be the only that would be affected,
their babies would also be affected because it might be born premature and there is a high possibility
that he or she would have a low birth rate. Most children that were born by teenagers do worse in
school than other children born from adults. Teenage Pregnancy should be prevented because it does
not have any positive affects to the people in the United States. It could be prevented by enforcing sex
education and birth controls because it would make adolescents more aware about the consequences
and the birth pills would stop unsafe sex and

Ironically just two years later I owned a pair of my own pet rats in highschool, I know that they are
not the monsters that I was made to believe but smart, clean and loving animals when raised properly.
Unfortunately this kind of fallacy is not uncommon, we all hold beliefs that are wrong but have not
been challenged or confronted before. Carl Sagan, a prominent astrophysicist and professor, touches
on these topics in his essay The dragon in my garage , In this essay he confronts the idea that it s

My Personal Philosophy Of Innovation
Nursing Innovation and Leadership: A Personal Philosophy To embrace the person that you are, in a
time and place where everyone seems to be telling you that you should be everything but the person
that you are, is a daunting but worthwhile challenge. I believe that it is in the acceptance of our true
selves, imperfections and all, that we gain the ability to view others through a lens colored with
compassion and acceptance. It is then that we can become a leader who is self aware and emotionally
competent.
Personal Philosophy of Innovation My personal philosophy of innovation encompasses many ideas. It
is not only thinking outside of the box, but questioning why the box is even necessary. It is about
creating opportunity out of disappointment, being open to different, and unafraid of being vulnerable.
It is about breathing, living, and embodying the change that you want to see in the world and
exploring new paths in achieving that change. Innovation is being courageously defiant in the face of
the universe shouting You can t and replying with a resounding Watch me .
Personal Definition of Innovation I believe that innovation is the process of examining a new and
different method that cause one internally and/or spiritually look at something as you have never seen
it before, and the creation of a new meaning to the way that we relate to and interact with people, the
environment, health, and nursing.

Differences Between The Wallaby And Eukaryony In Kingdom...
Do you know about the wallaby? The Wallaby is an animal that looks like a kangaroo. Though they
have many similarities with the kangaroo, they are slightly different from the kangaroo. Most common
way to distinguish the difference between the wallaby and kangaroo is their size. The Wallaby is much
smaller than the kangaroo. Their heights are about 30 to 180 and they weight about 20kg. They can
run up to 48kms per hour and live from 12 to 15 years. (Anonymous, no date) The Wallaby belongs in
Kingdom Animalia. (N, P, et al, 2015) Kingdom Animalia s animals are eukaryotic. This means the
cells have membrane around the nucleus. The Wallaby is also heterotrophic, so must eat something.
The Wallaby is a herbivore, so it eats plants or fruits. (No author, no date) The Wallaby is mobile, so it
can move freely. The Wallaby has many cells because it is multicellular and the cells have to live
together unlike colonial organisms. Wallabies do sexual reproduction, which means they need two
DNAs (father s DNA and mother s DNA) to make a baby. Because of these attributes, the wallaby is
in Kingdom Animalia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the brain communicate with the small nerves. It is protected by the notochord. All

Comparsion of Jack London s The Call of the Wild and John...
This is the four line epigraph present on the first page of The Call of the Wild by Jack London. Before
you try to find how this section of Atavism by John Myers O Hara, relates to the theme of The Call of
the Wild, you must understand the words used. Nomadic means moving around and not staying in one
place. O Hara uses these words in a weird order, because it seems like it should say that your nomadic
longings are leaping. The first line of this epigraph says that if you stay in one place for a long time,
your instincts (old longings from ancestors) to move from place to place (to be nomadic) are going to
flare up. Chafing means to cause annoyance. By using the phrase Chafing at custom s chain O Hara
means that you are being annoyed by traditional ways. Custom s chain refers to these traditional ways.
Therefore the feelings to want to become nomadic are clashing with the feelings of following tradition
s ways. Brumal means wintry. O Hara is using this as a metaphor with the direct meaning being
waking up from winter hibernation, but the deeper meaning is the realization or awakening of the need
to break away from traditional ways. Ferine means wild and strain in this case means type. When O
Hara uses ferine as an adjective to describe strain, he is referring to the wild side we each have due to
our natural instincts. All in all Old longings nomadic leap, Chafing at custom s chain; Again from its
brumal sleep wakens the ferine strain, means we are

Abstract
The purpose of this research paper is to identify how trait theory defines human personalities and

As many traits exist among humans, it will be discussed as to how traits differ between individuals,
and how the combination and interaction of various traits forms a personality that is unique to each
individual.
BackgroundPsychology
Psychology is the science of mind and behavior. Its immediate goal is to understand behavior and
mental processes by researching and establishing both general principles and specific cases. For many
practitioners, one goal of applied psychology is to benefit society...
For over two hundred years the study of traits has been a continued interest for trait theorists. In 1936
pioneering psychologist Gordon Allport began applying the principles of scientific taxonomy to the
study of character traits, developing a cohesive theory of personality as a generalized, rather than
specific, manifestation (Olivarez, 2010, para.1).In Allport s approach, human traits also referred to as
dispositions could be categorized into three classes: central traits, common traits, and cardinal traits.
Central traits are basic to an individual s personality, whereas secondary traits are more peripheral.
Common traits are those recognized within a culture and may vary between cultures. Cardinal traits
are those by which an individual may be strongly recognized.
Additionally, Allport asserted that a person s traits could be measured,

Good Earth Setting
The Good Earth is a book written by Pearl S. Buck in 1936. The setting of the novel is pre
revolutionary China, and more specifically in a small village where Wang Lung s house is.
He has a small plot of farmland, which experiences a drought when nothing grows. There are no
forests near his small village, therefore there is no wood for burning and for buildings. Since there are
no forests near the town, floods can occur. The setting is important because it will be the main point of
focus throughout the book.
The novel begins on Wang Lung s wedding day. Wang Lung rises to his father coughing. He
habitually does his routine of lighting a fire, boiling water, and pouring the water into a bowl and
giving it to his father. Wang Lung then goes to the House of Hwang, the powerful family of the
village. He offers to marry a slave called O lan. The family of Hwang agrees to let Wang Lung marry

Later, Wang Lung and his family have to leave town and relocate for the oncoming winter. While in
the southern town, O lan and the children beg for food and money. However, Wang Lung makes a

There Is A Saying That Goes “History Repeats Itself” And
There is a saying that goes History repeats itself and it has many times. For example when the German
Democratic Republic decided to build the Berlin Wall to keep West Berlin from surrounding East
Germany (The Berlin 1). It was constructed to keep out emigrants and the flood of refugees (The
Berlin 1). The wall failed though in November of 1989 (Why did 1). The wall Trump wants to build is
just repeating history. His plan is to build a wall along the Mexican American border to keep out
illegal immigrants and drug trafficking. Even though Trump s idea of the border wall will keep out
unwanted invaders, like any country would want, it will also create diplomatic and economic conflict
and environmental issues amongnMexico and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this in mind, if the United States does build the wall along the Mexican American border there
are high risks for Mexico or America to leave NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement).
Trump has stated in his campaign trail that he wants to renegotiate NAFTA. NAFTA was endorsed in
the 1990 s and the countries of North America have traded with this agreement ever since (Greenberg
1). Despite this agreement keeping the peace among these three countries, Trump says, in a debate,
NAFTA is the worst trade deal maybe ever signed anywhere, but certainly ever signed in this country
(Greenberg 1). He plans to revise the agreement a bit with Canada but with Mexico he, in a way,
wants a new agreement stating that Mexico will pay for the wall. Trump is pushing and finding
different ways to get Mexico to pay and that will just cause more problems among the countries. The
President of Mexico, Enrique Pena Nieto, has stated multiple times that Mexico won t pay for wall
and has even canceled a meeting that was supposed to bring these two presidents to talk about
relations among the nations. With Nieto canceling this important meeting already shows there s
conflict among the two leaders. Despite the two not agreeing on this controversial issue, Trump has
began preparations for the wall to go up.
The wall, according to Time Magazine, The senate majority leader,

Possession And Use Of Marijuana
Possession and use of cannabis, also commonly known as marijuana, is considered illegal. For years
marijuana has been an illegal drug in most countries. In today s world a few countries have legalized
cannabis while others are still progressing toward it. In particular, small amount of marijuana have
been allowed in places such as Europe, North America and South America. In the United States in
particular, states such as Washington and Colorado have also legalized the usage of marijuana for
medical/recreational purposes. On the other hand, numerous penalties are enforced pertaining the use
or possession of cannabis where it is not legal. The chance of the penalties being small are seldom;
offenders often receive severe punishments. Possession of small quantities of marijuana is not
punished the same way as possession of large quantities of other illegal narcotics. In this essay, there
will be an in depth argument on the reasons why cannabis should be legalized, and why it should not.
Firstly, cannabis should be legal and decriminalized since it is used for medication. Its legalization
means better and higher quality health standards. For example, Sativex is a recent marijuana derived
treatment that has been discovered to cure Multiple Sclerosis (Kmietowicz 89). The drug has been
used in the United Kingdom to treat patients, and it has been found to produce effective results.
Banning marijuana would be a disadvantage to people who suffer from diseases that use cannabis as a

Laine Sterbenz, A Student From The University Of Kentucky
Laine Sterbenz, a student from the University of Kentucky and popular blogger on Odyssey,
concludes that skinny models give girls and women motivation to live healthier lifestyles in a way no
other body type could. In her post, she argues that models have that skinny body that is desired by
every girl, the ideal to work to attain. She then continues into saying that if overweight models were to
be used, or even average sized ones, then women wouldn t actually have the motivation to want to eat
better and live a healthier life, because they would already be satisfied with how they look. While
Sterbenz brings up valid points, she weakens the argument by contradicting her own statements, and
unwittingly promoting unhealthy eating habits and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She herself even says although some models may not live the healthy lifestyle, all models have the
healthy body and skinny body shape that every girl wants (Sterbenz), which blatantly implies that it is
fine to expose yourself to an unhealthy living style, like models do, just so you can attain that ideal
body. It is estimated that around 31.2% of models have or have had an eating disorder, and around
48.7% do fasts , cleanses or otherwise restrict their food intake over short periods to lose weight (The
Model Alliance). So, if these so called ideals when it comes to body image go to such extremes in
order to attain, or maintain, their slim bodies, what kind of message does it send to women to say they
should emulate them? In defense of her stance, Sterbenz asks, in a sort of sarcastic way, if skinny
models are really damaging our society, to which the response is clearly yes, as represented by the fact
that in just three years exposure to Western imagery, the island of Becker s percentage of teens who
made themselves throw up to control their weight had risen from zero to more than 11 percent
(Barclay). This is an astonishing, and frankly disturbing feat, which truly shows the power these
images have over people.
In any case, as opposed to other body types, skinny models provide unrealistic ideals and lowers the
self esteem of young girls and women. When advertising utilizes skinny models, it sets these

the national GDP in Mexico (United 23). Mexico has not only surpassed South Korea, but they have
also passed Brazil, and they are now the sixth largest worldwide vehicle producer (United 23). This
has taken them not only to the top for just rising economies, but now they are known worldwide for
some of the best vehicles and automotive parts. Ten manufacturers are in Mexico currently, including
General Motors, Chrysler, Ford, Nissan, Fiat, Renault, Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Mazda.

they now have competitive production costs ( Why 1). Lastly, Mexico has also strengthened their

that is what brought them to the top. Mexico s economy has increased around 83% in overall income

The Cost Of College Textbooks
With college textbooks on the rise, it is no surprise that college students are unable to purchase the
appropriate textbooks for their courses or they are choosing alternative courses altogether. The cost of
college textbooks has increased by an alarming amount of three times the rate of inflation,
approximately 1,041 percent. The need for institutions of higher education to find ways to make
textbooks more affordable to their students is stronger than ever. Unfortunately, most college and
university bookstores are made for profit which inflates the cost of their textbooks and requires
students to look elsewhere such as online, purchasing from previous students, or renting from the
campus library.
Over the last decade, the price of college textbooks has increased by 88 percent; 25 percent more than
the rise in cost of tuition and fees. The College Board has estimated that the average college student
had spent around 1,249 dollars for the 2015 16 school year on textbooks alone. The textbook
companies and campus bookstores are reaping in the profits at the college students expense by
decreasing the success rate in each course when a student is attempting the course with no material.
As students are faced with these rising textbook costs, many choose not to purchase their textbooks.

Part 1 1. What are common carriers, local exchange carriers, and interexchange carriers? A common
carrier is a private company that sells or leases communication services and facilities to the public.
Common carriers are profit oriented, and their primary products are services for voice and data
transmissions, both over traditional wired circuits as well as cellular services. Common carriers often
supply a broad range of computer based services, such as the manufacturing and marketing of
specialized communication hardware and software. A common carrier that provides local telephone
services (e.g., BellSouth) is commonly called a local exchange carrier (LEC), while one that provides
long distance services (e.g., MCI) is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, dedicated circuits require more care in network design than switched circuits both in terms
of locations and the amount of capacity you purchase. With packet switched services, the user again
buys a connection into the common carrier cloud. The user pays a fixed fee for the connection into the
network depending upon the type and capacity of the service and is charged for the number of packets
transmitted. 13. Distinguish among T1, T2, T3, and T4 circuits. T1 circuit is sometimes called a DS 1
circuit. It provides a data rate of 1.544 Mbps. T1 circuits can be used to transmit data, but often are
used to transmit both data and voice. In this case, a time division multiplexer (TDM) provides 24 64
Kbps circuits. Digitized voice using pulse code modulation (PCM) requires a 64 Kbps circuit so T1
circuit enables 24 simultaneous voice channels. T2 circuit transmits data at a rate of 6.312 Mbps.
Basically; it is a multiplexed bundle of four T1 circuits. T3 circuits allow transmission at a rate of
44.376 Mbps, although most articles refer to this rate as 45 megabits per second. This is equal to the
capacity of 28 T1 circuits. T3 circuits are becoming popular as the transmission medium for corporate
MANs and WANs because of their higher data rates. At low speed, these T3 circuits can be used as
672 different 64 Kbps channels or voice channels. A T4 circuit transmits at

The Crucible Movie Analysis
The Crucible is originally a play written by Arthur Miller. In 1969 the film was produced by David V.
Picker, Robert A. Miller and directed by Nicholas Hytner. The movie is based around the Salem witch
trials and is a historical fiction. The film is a classic story of pointing fingers and false accusations.
Within the film there are many main characters. These characters include Abigail Williams played by
Winona Ryder and John Proctor played by Daniel Day Lewis. The point of view is from a third person
point of view. However, the third person view gives an insightful look of views from the other
charters. The main character is Abigail Adams and throughout the movie her main goal is to accuse
John proctors wife, accused and killed for being a witch. However, as she gains more power she
accuses many people and leads to her eventual leaving of Salem. Her point of view changes
drastically, at the end of the movie she realizes that she has lost power and is fearful because of her
scheming ways. Another point of view is from the perspective of John Proctor. As he is accused of
witchcraft he struggles with the decision to confess to being a witch or not confessing in order to keep
his name clean. The struggle he has with this choice is a great representation of how others felt about
confessing to be a witch. Back in the times of the witch trial, your name had a lot of value and honor
because it is what future generations would carry on. If a person s name was dragged through the

phrases before you leave on your solo vacation. Study maps of the areas you are planning to visit. You
don t want to get lost in a foreign country when you are by yourself. Carry a fold out map with you at
all times, along with a business card or brochure from the hotel you are staying at. Getting lost at night
in a foreign country could very well lead to disaster. Your foreign language skills come into play here,
too. Don t be afraid to socialize. The best places to do this are in the local pubs. Start with pubs near
your hotel and branch out as you become more familiar with your surroundings. Solo travelers tend to
make friends quite easily. People are less intimidated by single travelers than they are by couples or
groups. Of course, you should always be careful. Don t give away too much information about
yourself or where you are staying, especially at first. Avoid nightclubs your first few evenings and
stick to the pubs, where bartenders and other patrons are always within earshot. Don t become overly
intoxicated so that you can t

Language is a vital tool for human beings. Human language is a measure for communicating thoughts,
ideas, and identity to one another. Cultural relations, economic dealings, and the shaping of
friendships are all dependent upon language. While it could be viewed that today s languages are the
result of past language extinctions, the death of language signifies a loss much greater than just words.
It has been speculated an estimate of as many as 100,000 languages had existed prior to the dawn of
agriculture. Currently, approximately only 6,500 to 6,900 languages are spoken today worldwide.
Correspondingly, these spoken languages are not evenly distributed. Whereas, 230 are spoken in
Europe and 2,197 are spoken in the continent of Asia. Like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

But our word for the earth is (speaking foreign language), and what it literally means is made for you,
and that s our view of our land. God made these lands for us. It s made for us to inhabit and to benefit
from. And so when you take when you say a world view, there s just a different way of looking at the
world... than another culture might have. And I m not saying it s superior to any other culture. I m just
saying that it s different, and that s what we talk about, about language lost and the culture and the
world view that goes with those words (Lane,

Essay about The Works of E. B. White
Like all other authors, E. B. White s work was critically analyzed throughout his career. Most would
give bad feedback, but everyone loved him and his writing. He had such a unique style of writing that
made him popular for all ages. His books ranged from children books all the way to humor and
knowledge about the styles of writing for adults. His ability to open up readers imaginations draws
them in and makes them wanting more. With that, E. B. White is still considered one of the most loved
and best selling authors in history today. Elwyn Brooks White was born on July 11, 1899. As a child,
White did not enjoy school much. He preferred to be outside like any other young boy (Meet E. B.
White, 6). When he grew older, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Delaney, Thoreau s subtle humor and individualistic philosophy has influenced White
and it can be seen through his writing, including his short fiction. Delaney also said that White never
lost his sense of humor even when dealing with depressing subjects. Most characteristic of White s
short stories is their strange mixture of humor and emotional distress. In this way he resembles his
friend James Thurber. Thurber was a major influence on White, just as White was on him. Delaney
also went on to say that they were both admirers of Henry James, and that older writer s high literary
standards and dedication to his craft are obviously reflected in White s short stories. White has also
been praised for his use of prose style. This makes his writing flow easily and seem almost effortless.
Years before he started working at The New Yorker, White had started to write stories about a little
mouse named Stuart Little and in 1941 he decided he wanted to finish the stories. In 1945, Stuart
Little was published. This novel is about conflict, coping, persistence, and hope. It s an episodic
adventure tale reminiscent of novels in the picaresque style. A fantasy is also relayed through
omniscient third person narration. In this story, Stuart is challenged by his size and must struggle to
complete even the simplest tasks that most people take for

Physics of Tsunamis Essay
Tsunamis are waves, or series of waves, created by a disturbance in the ocean. Most of the time this
disturbance is by an earthquake but can be from meteorites, landslides, or even explosions. They are
sometimes known as tidal waves but this is a misnomer because tsunamis have nothing to do with
tides. While tsunamis are feared particularly in light of the December 26th tsunami, the physics behind
them is fascinating.
One the largest tsunamis in recent history was the Cascadia tsunami in 1700. This occured when two
continental plates (stretching from Vancouver to California) slipped causing a 9.0 magnitude
earthquake. The resulting tsunami stretched across the entire Pacific and is recorded in Japanese
history. Researchers have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The 1960 earthquake in Chile was ripe for causing a tsunami, and it caused one of the largest tsunamis
in recent history. The tsunami stretched across the entire Pacific causing large scale destruction in
Hawaii and Japan and in other places. Some towns in Japan were saved as the result of watchers
whose job included checking the ocean for unusual behavior. Several hundred people owe their lives
to the men that saved entire towns.
The Alaskan Quake of 1964 caused a significant tsunami as well, killing 122 people and causing over
$106 million in damage.
The most recent major tsunami was in the Indian Ocean. This is unusual because almost all tsunamis
take place in the Pacific. On the morning of December 26th, 2004 a magnitude 9.0 earthquake rocked
Southeast Asia. This quake triggered a tsunami that is the most deadly to date. Almost 300,000 people
have died as a result of the tsunami, and hundreds of thousands more are displaced or homeless. The
quake was the largest in 40 years and was so large that it moved the ocean several meters vertically at
the epicenter; this is enormous for tsunamis. In some places the tsunami was as high as 15 meters but
in many areas it just occured as a rushing wall of water, more similar to a flood than waves. The ocean
receded very far before rushing back in, exposing fish and seafloor never seen before. This piqued the
curiousity of many people thus causing many more deaths than there would have been.

Essay On The Space Race
There is only so much you can explore on Earth, Space is infinite. The Space Race was a historical
competition between the Soviet Union and the United States for the first humans to reach the moon.
Taking place during 1957 1975, the Space Race showcased the determination between the two nations
to display who had the superior science and technology knowledge. After the Russians created the first
satellite, the United States felt threatened that the Soviet Union would have military control over space
and began to race against their rivals. The money spent on the space race was a legitimate use of
government funds because it showed the world which country had the best technology and science,
shown the significance of rocket science for use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The thought that the other nation would have complete military control over the space surrounding
Earth was threatening motivating them to get there first. The same rockets that were used to get to the
moon were able to be changed into a very powerful, explosive tip rockets. Von Braun s V 2s caused
around 2,750 civilian deaths; one single V 2 rocket that landed on a Woolworth s store killed 160
Londoners. (The Space Race) With the advancement of rocket technology from the Space Race, the
U.S and Soviets military were able to make weapons of destruction that could kill thousands of people
and could not be shot down due to how new they were and the little knowledge from around the world
about them. Although military advancements were a very important reason why the Space Race was
worth funding, space exploration was also very important.
Lastly, space exploration. The Space Race kickstarted the exploration of space. While rushing to get
an American on the Moon, we learned much about the technicalities of space. While working on the
competition, Eisenhower created NASA, which is still around and alive today That same year,
President Dwight Eisenhower signed a public order creating the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration (NASA), a federal agency dedicated to space exploration. (History.com

The Demand And Supply Analysis
Introduction: The most important tool in microeconomics is the demand and supply analysis. Demand
refers to the amount of the product which is desired by the purchaser at a certain price level where as
the supply of the product represents the amount of quantity that is supplied in the market at a certain
level of price. There are different factors on which demand is dependent. Apart from the price of the
product, the demand depends upon the income, the number of consumers, preferences of the
consumers and income of the consumers. The supply of the product depends upon the price of the
product, future expectation of the prices and price of the factors of production (Colander 2013).
Resources availability is limited in the country so there is a need to observe the demand and supply so
that the resources are not exhausted. The demand and supply mechanism is analyzed before getting
into a detailed discussion upon the demand and supply of human resources and iron ore resources in
the Australian economy. Several newspaper articles has been collected showing the demand for the
skills in the state of Queensland and the supply iron ore has dropped in respect of the increase in
global supply more than the demand. Mechanism of Demand and Supply: When the other factors,
which are seen to affect the demand for the product is constant then a rise in the price of the product,
will lead to fall and when there is fall in the prices then there will be an increase in the demand. There

  • 2. Adam and Eve Essay 3 Adam and Eve Marcie Smith REL 250 Paxton Reed November 16, 2008 Adam and Eve The term subordination is used frequently in the context of Trinitarian discussion, and has a clearly defined usage. Theologians of the past have spoken in some sense of the subordination of the Son and the Spirit within the boundaries of orthodoxy. However, how do we define it when it comes to women and the church? The story of Adam and Eve is a great place to start. It brings with it all of the elements of love, respect, partnership, and subordination all rolled together. When I first started to research this paper I was under the misguided assumption that Adam and Eve went down together. As my paper evolved you will see I learned a little bit differently. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Feminists argue that women have had to struggle to overcome the patriarchally structured churches. While scholars in ecclesiastical history and related fields have undoubtedly been influenced by the huge developments in both women s history and gender history in the larger arena of historical scholarship, they have also been influenced by the questions raised by feminist theologians about the viability of women remaining within the Churches and the outworking of Christian doctrine in the women s lives. Origins have therefore become important to some feminist scholars, especially those of faith, in a rather distinctive way, as they have sought to bring to light and , in some cases, discover evidence for the ways in which the Christian tradition has in at least some of its roots an equal place for women (Shaw, 2004). The place of women and, indeed, men in the early Churches is a historical subject which is seen to have relevance to individuals and the Churches today: while Churches are still debating the validity of the ordination of women, and even the extent to which laywomen can participate in the worship and ministry of the Church, it is not possible to shy away from this. One of the great strengths of feminist scholarship has been to show that no scholar works from a neutral starting point: the selection of topic and the evidence on which historians choose to focus are shaped by their presuppositions. Ecclesiastical historians, influenced by their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Freedom In Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron Freedom has always been a very important aspect in American culture, it allows people to have the opportunity to speak, act and pursue happiness without having any restrictions forced upon us. In Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron freedom is no longer known as one of the most important foundation to American culture, like it has been for generations. But now in this futuristic society depicted by Vonnegut, enforcing the law that makes those who are above normal equal to those who are normal has become one of the main priorities. In this society, all living people are equal in every which way. This type of equality is only focused on altering beauty, strength and intelligence instead of concentrating on the main problems of race, religion, and sex, the true issues we face as a society. Although many people believe total equality is something that we should all strive for, it is just a misguided goal that is both dangerous in execution and outcome. To accomplish physical and mental equality among all Americans, the government forces its citizens to wear handicaps so everyone can meet this certain standard the government and the United States Handicapper General has set out for them to follow. • 4. Features Of Writing A Review At A Professional Standard Regardless of the object being reviewed, there are a number of essential features of writing a review at a professional standard. This essay will examine each of those features with reference to two reviews of films which explore a specific theme. Firstly, however, the meaning of the term professional standard must be established. There are standards that all professions must follow. These are to do with ethics and values. At the very least, standards of professionalism indicate a level of expertise , separating those who are considered professional from the amateur. Merely deriving an income from writing a review is not proof that a professional standard has been met. The NSW Professional Standards Council claims that any attempts to define standards of professionalism typically centralise around some sort of moral or ethical foundation within the practice of a specific and usually established expertise . A standard attributable to being professional can also indicate a level of quality or attainment. An individual review may be at a reasonably high standard but what makes it professional ? By way of analogy, there are particular essential ingredients when baking a sponge cake... a pinch of this and teaspoon of that. We all know, however, that, even though the same recipe has been followed, there are sponge cakes and there are sponge cakes. Similarly reviewers may follow the same standard format and ensure their reviews ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Importance Of Human Physical Strength In The Ancient... Humans in the ancient world definitely took advantage of their physical strength. Five great examples of this are: building roads, quarrying, operating cranes, digging wells, and constructing tunnels. All of these tasks could only be completed with an immense amount of endurance and strength. Anything from laying rocks to digging out an entire tunnel was a difficult and grueling task. In many cases, a great deal of human physical strength was required to fully exploit the technologies and technical practices developed in the ancient world. Building roadways in ancient Italy required an extensive amount of physical strength. Creating roadways required quarrying, lumbering, and drainage (Oleson). The workers initially began by placing curb stones to create the defined border of the road (Oleson). Ditches were dug on the outside of both rows of curb stones for storm drainage (Oleson). The land between the curb stones was then completely removed by a large amount of digging and cutting (Oleson). The excavated ditch was then filled with stones, sand, and other materials that were dug up from the ditches or the land around the road, forming a solid foundation (Oleson). Laying down gravel, carrying the stones, transporting them, and carefully placing them down required a great deal of upper and lower body strength. On top of the layer of stones and sand was a layer of finer gravel (Oleson). The top layer of the road was made of polygonal basalt blocks that formed a Chambers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My earliest memories of my father were him working at Louisiana Downs, during the racing season, as an assistant horse trainer and as a semi truck driver during the down time. He would often take my older sister and me to the track or in the semi with him so we could work with him. He was well respected at the track and people were naturally drawn to him. It may have been his big smile, which he does not like to share in pictures, his stories, or his willingness to help others and the respect he expressed to others. In 1985, my parents decided to move the family to Fairbanks, Alaska which is where the majority of my mother s family was living. My father drove my mom, my older sister, and me to California where we met up with my aunt and her family to continue the drive to Alaska. While in California, my mother was involved in pedestrian versus car collision in a gas station parking lot. The operator of the vehicle responsible for the collision was an intoxicated male. Being a young inspired young actor his work on and off the camera is remarkable. He has open the doors up for many of us young African Americans into careers in media and arts. His filming style as a director would best be described as black feminism but also approval. His films project the idea of a single unified gender oppression that is experienced evenly by all women but rather is dictated by the color of your skin. Also the empowerment aspect is very bold in his movies because usually by the end of these films his main character is improves throughout her hardship and journey. Yet they also have a code of honor; although they are ruggedly independent, the cowboys respect the rules of society and is unwilling to exploit others or to condone the careless disregard for human life exhibited by outlaws or stereotypically Indians. It is a fictional historical costume drama set before and during World War II. The reason I say that it is a fictional historical film is that it has silly facts about the Japanese being near Australian soil during World War II when that was actually not the case. There are the typical horse scenes and Lady Sarah Ashley is the damsel in distress trying to herd her cattle with the help from her husband s drover. Psalm 24 Next, with the capacity to divaricate into three distinct thought components, Psalm 24 actually has congruence, as it covers a sequential range of actions which include declaration, preparation and finally praise. It is also considered to be a liturgical psalm due to the manner of wording and conveyance of access requirements with regard to being fit to enter the temple for worship unto God (Varughese, n.d., p. 7). One course of thought among scholars and commentators for this psalm, is that it likely embodies the time when the David brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed edom into the city of David with gladness (2 Samuel 6:12, New American Standard Bible; Kidner, 2014, p. 130). Bullock (2005) noted that, at the heart of Hebrew poetry is a device called parallelism (p. 36). Several instances of parallelism are found in Psalm 24, and especially in the first two strophes. For example, in the first distich, we see David proclaiming that The earth is the Lord s, and all it contains, the world, and those who dwell in it (Psalm 24:1, King James Version). These two units are an example of synonymous parallelism, which Bullock (2005) noted as meaning that the thought pattern in one line conforms to the pattern in the successive line (p. 36, BULLOCK, PARAPHRASE THIS). Next, in verses three and four, we find the psalmist using a form of synthetic parallelism, which involves the second line solving or completing the thought of the first line (Owensboro Community and Technical College, n.d., para. 7). This can be seen in verse three when David asks the questions Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? And who may stand in His holy place and then answers in the next verse with He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood and has not sworn deceitfully (Psalm 24:3 4, King James ... Unfortunately this kind of fallacy is not uncommon, we all hold beliefs that are wrong but have not been challenged or confronted before. Carl Sagan, a prominent astrophysicist and professor, touches on these topics in his essay The dragon in my garage , In this essay he confronts the idea that it s possible to believe something that to others is obviously false by constructing an imaginary dragon as an illustration. I believe that it is in the acceptance of our true selves, imperfections and all, that we gain the ability to view others through a lens colored with compassion and acceptance. It is then that we can become a leader who is self aware and emotionally competent. Personal Philosophy of Innovation My personal philosophy of innovation encompasses many ideas. It is not only thinking outside of the box, but questioning why the box is even necessary. It is about creating opportunity out of disappointment, being open to different, and unafraid of being vulnerable. • 22. Comparsion of Jack London s The Call of the Wild and John... This is the four line epigraph present on the first page of The Call of the Wild by Jack London. Before you try to find how this section of Atavism by John Myers O Hara, relates to the theme of The Call of the Wild, you must understand the words used. Nomadic means moving around and not staying in one place. O Hara uses these words in a weird order, because it seems like it should say that your nomadic longings are leaping. The first line of this epigraph says that if you stay in one place for a long time, your instincts (old longings from ancestors) to move from place to place (to be nomadic) are going to flare up. Chafing means to cause annoyance. By using the phrase Chafing at custom s chain O Hara means that you are being annoyed by traditional ways. Custom s chain refers to these traditional ways. Therefore the feelings to want to become nomadic are clashing with the feelings of following tradition s ways. Brumal means wintry. O Hara is using this as a metaphor with the direct meaning being waking up from winter hibernation, but the deeper meaning is the realization or awakening of the need to break away from traditional ways. Ferine means wild and strain in this case means type. When O Hara uses ferine as an adjective to describe strain, he is referring to the wild side we each have due to our natural instincts. For many practitioners, one goal of applied psychology is to benefit society... For over two hundred years the study of traits has been a continued interest for trait theorists. In 1936 pioneering psychologist Gordon Allport began applying the principles of scientific taxonomy to the study of character traits, developing a cohesive theory of personality as a generalized, rather than specific, manifestation (Olivarez, 2010, para.1).In Allport s approach, human traits also referred to as dispositions could be categorized into three classes: central traits, common traits, and cardinal traits. Central traits are basic to an individual s personality, whereas secondary traits are more peripheral. Common traits are those recognized within a culture and may vary between cultures. Cardinal traits are those by which an individual may be strongly recognized. Additionally, Allport asserted that a person s traits could be measured, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In today s world a few countries have legalized cannabis while others are still progressing toward it. In particular, small amount of marijuana have been allowed in places such as Europe, North America and South America. In the United States in particular, states such as Washington and Colorado have also legalized the usage of marijuana for medical/recreational purposes. On the other hand, numerous penalties are enforced pertaining the use or possession of cannabis where it is not legal. The chance of the penalties being small are seldom; offenders often receive severe punishments. Possession of small quantities of marijuana is not punished the same way as possession of large quantities of other illegal narcotics. In this essay, there will be an in depth argument on the reasons why cannabis should be legalized, and why it should not. Firstly, cannabis should be legal and decriminalized since it is used for medication. Its legalization means better and higher quality health standards. For example, Sativex is a recent marijuana derived treatment that has been discovered to cure Multiple Sclerosis (Kmietowicz 89). It is estimated that around 31.2% of models have or have had an eating disorder, and around 48.7% do fasts , cleanses or otherwise restrict their food intake over short periods to lose weight (The Model Alliance). • 39. Heenetiineyoo3eihiiho Language is a vital tool for human beings. Human language is a measure for communicating thoughts, ideas, and identity to one another. Cultural relations, economic dealings, and the shaping of friendships are all dependent upon language. While it could be viewed that today s languages are the result of past language extinctions, the death of language signifies a loss much greater than just words. It has been speculated an estimate of as many as 100,000 languages had existed prior to the dawn of agriculture. Currently, approximately only 6,500 to 6,900 languages are spoken today worldwide. Correspondingly, these spoken languages are not evenly distributed. Whereas, 230 are spoken in Europe and 2,197 are spoken in the continent of Asia. Like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 40. Essay about The Works of E. B. White Like all other authors, E. B. White s work was critically analyzed throughout his career. His books ranged from children books all the way to humor and knowledge about the styles of writing for adults. His ability to open up readers imaginations draws them in and makes them wanting more. With that, E. B. White is still considered one of the most loved and best selling authors in history today. Elwyn Brooks White was born on July 11, 1899. As a child, White did not enjoy school much. According to Delaney, Thoreau s subtle humor and individualistic philosophy has influenced White and it can be seen through his writing, including his short fiction. Delaney also said that White never lost his sense of humor even when dealing with depressing subjects. Most characteristic of White s short stories is their strange mixture of humor and emotional distress. In this way he resembles his friend James Thurber. Thurber was a major influence on White, just as White was on him. Delaney also went on to say that they were both admirers of Henry James, and that older writer s high literary standards and dedication to his craft are obviously reflected in White s short stories. White has also been praised for his use of prose style. This makes his writing flow easily and seem almost effortless. Years before he started working at The New Yorker, White had started to write stories about a little mouse named Stuart Little and in 1941 he decided he wanted to finish the stories. In 1945, Stuart Little was published. This novel is about conflict, coping, persistence, and hope. It s an episodic adventure tale reminiscent of novels in the picaresque style. A fantasy is also relayed through omniscient third person narration. In this story, Stuart is challenged by his size and must struggle to complete even the simplest tasks that most people take for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Physics of Tsunamis Essay Tsunamis are waves, or series of waves, created by a disturbance in the ocean. Most of the time this disturbance is by an earthquake but can be from meteorites, landslides, or even explosions. They are sometimes known as tidal waves but this is a misnomer because tsunamis have nothing to do with tides. While tsunamis are feared particularly in light of the December 26th tsunami, the physics behind them is fascinating. One the largest tsunamis in recent history was the Cascadia tsunami in 1700. This occured when two continental plates (stretching from Vancouver to California) slipped causing a 9.0 magnitude earthquake. The resulting tsunami stretched across the entire Pacific and is recorded in Japanese history. Researchers have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The 1960 earthquake in Chile was ripe for causing a tsunami, and it caused one of the largest tsunamis in recent history. The tsunami stretched across the entire Pacific causing large scale destruction in Hawaii and Japan and in other places. Some towns in Japan were saved as the result of watchers whose job included checking the ocean for unusual behavior. Several hundred people owe their lives to the men that saved entire towns. The Alaskan Quake of 1964 caused a significant tsunami as well, killing 122 people and causing over $106 million in damage. The most recent major tsunami was in the Indian Ocean. This is unusual because almost all tsunamis take place in the Pacific. On the morning of December 26th, 2004 a magnitude 9.0 earthquake rocked Southeast Asia. This quake triggered a tsunami that is the most deadly to date. Almost 300,000 people have died as a result of the tsunami, and hundreds of thousands more are displaced or homeless. The quake was the largest in 40 years and was so large that it moved the ocean several meters vertically at the epicenter; this is enormous for tsunamis. In some places the tsunami was as high as 15 meters but in many areas it just occured as a rushing wall of water, more similar to a flood than waves. The ocean receded very far before rushing back in, exposing fish and seafloor never seen before. This piqued the curiousity of many people thus causing many more deaths than there would have been. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. The Demand And Supply Analysis Introduction: The most important tool in microeconomics is the demand and supply analysis. Demand refers to the amount of the product which is desired by the purchaser at a certain price level where as the supply of the product represents the amount of quantity that is supplied in the market at a certain level of price. There are different factors on which demand is dependent. Apart from the price of the product, the demand depends upon the income, the number of consumers, preferences of the consumers and income of the consumers. The supply of the product depends upon the price of the product, future expectation of the prices and price of the factors of production (Colander 2013). Resources availability is limited in the country so there is a need to observe the demand and supply so that the resources are not exhausted. The demand and supply mechanism is analyzed before getting into a detailed discussion upon the demand and supply of human resources and iron ore resources in the Australian economy. Several newspaper articles has been collected showing the demand for the skills in the state of Queensland and the supply iron ore has dropped in respect of the increase in global supply more than the demand. Mechanism of Demand and Supply: When the other factors, which are seen to affect the demand for the product is constant then a rise in the price of the product, will lead to fall and when there is fall in the prices then there will be an increase in the demand.
