Ethical Issues in the Fashion Industry
Ethical Issues in the Fashion Industry
Introduction
This essay reflects on the lecture titled Creative Economy by Martin Bouette. I found this lecture
relevant to my final project. My topic is the changing trends in the apparel industry. How Corporate
Social Responsibility affects the supply chain, going local from global, vertical from horizontal. The
lecture is relevant in many aspects, for example the knowledge society s changes and ethical issues
and responsibility within the apparel industry. The first part of the essay briefly speaks about the
lecture Creative Economy and also introduces my final project. The second part explains in more
detail the difference between horizontal and vertical integration. It also overviews the ... Show more

The Environment: This part argues that who is responsible for the environmental damages, how much
concern the designer has for our environment.
Aging Generation: says that older generations are a strong market for quality design, because they
have time to enjoy all its benefits and they can afford it.
And finally Ethical issues, which is the most important from my point of view. This is the part were
my project could connect to Martin s lecture. It gives data about child labour in different countries in
different industries. It argues that our society should educate consumers better to know more about the
true cost of products they buy.
The lecture says that the commercial success depends on these four factors I explained before.
My Project
In my original project proposal I was intended to research trends in manufacturing such as going local
from global and going vertical from horizontal integration. However I realized since that such trends
are mostly triggered by Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policies responding to customer
demands.
I would like to narrow down my project to focus on the affects of CSR on the apparel industry s
supply chain. Therefor my research project aims to examine how CSR as a global trend affects
vertically and horizontally integrated manufacturing in the fashion/apparel industry.
A company won t integrate vertically its production if it against its business interest. There are some

OEF Veterans Research Paper
Using the Google Scholar search engine, the phrase OIF OEF veterans struggle for care yielded 2100
articles between the years 2000 to 2016. Of the 2100 articles, only 2 articles supported the current
research topic. Using the phrase OIF OEF veterans barriers for not seeking treatment yielded 3,180
results. Specifiers such as changing the years from 2008 to 2016 and adding citations and patents
yielded 2960 articles. Amongst the 2960 articles, 5 articles were selected following screening. These
articles were considered relevant to the current research topic. Of the 9,277 articles yielded in the

depression. Baker, Kilmer, Lemmer, Goldsmith, and Pittman (2012) provided more in depth
information that focused primarily on PTSD and depression as to where Connor et.al (2013) looked
into more barriers other than the overlapping symptoms as being reasons for barriers for treatment in
combat veterans. Baker et. al (2012) examined 2 significant mental health issues including PTSD and
depression in OEF/OIF combat veterans in their entire research study. These researchers found that
health related quality of life (HRQoL) is highly affected in both disorders. Although the study used a
clinician administered PTSD scale (CAPS) as well as standardized and structured interviews
conducting to the DSM 5 criteria, the fact alone remains that the overlapping symptoms could be
difficult for veterans to understand. The participants in this study consisted of 200 OEF/OIF veterans
who completed an interview as well as self report questionnaires. The sample included 95% men, 45%
active duty, 55% veteran; ages 19 52, median 27%; 77% non Hispanic/Latino, and 80% white. The
findings revealed that PTSD and depression have overlapping symptoms as anhedonia, concentration,

Sexual Harassment Definition
Summer of 2012. I was walking down the street in an old shirt and shorts with my mom, aunt, and
younger cousin when a car filled with a group of twenty something year olds appeared. When passing
my family, the car erupted in hoots and hollers , a known antic of catcalling. At the time, I was twelve
years old. Similarly, I was walking into a restaurant when a man made a suggestive passing. As my
mother glared at him for his remark he repeated himself, this time intending the sexist slur for her. I
was wearing an oversized sweater and leggings. Street harassment, more commonly known as
catcalling, is a daily occurrence in the life of a woman. It is an objectifying and degrading way to call
attention to a woman. A woman s appearance or clothing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I did that when explaining my own experiences. Why? When hearing stories about sexual harassment,
people assume that the victim was, in some form, initiating catcalling or was asking for it . Putting this
idea into action, recent social experiment videos about catcalling have cropped up recently; women
would secretly record themselves walking down the street while being catcalled (Hess). The woman in
the video was wearing a black t shirt and jeans. While walking down the street in one video men
called out commands such as You should smile more, to unsolicited remarks about the subject s body
such as Sexy! (Hess). The relentlessness of catcallers does not depend on revealing or sexy clothing. It

The Impact of Ansel Adams
The Impact of Ansel Adams The evolution of photography, from the very beginning to the modern
technology we have today, is largely due to a few select specialists that took the matter into their own
hands. Many discoveries were made about photography during the late 1800 s and into the 1900 s, but
none greater than the discoveries of Ansel Adams. Ansel Adams made a huge impact on photography
because of his technological advances, environmental work, and how he won the hearts of many with
his beautiful works of art. Ansel Adams was a very talented photographer who captured beautiful
photographs from day one. He had many accomplishments in his lifetime such as creating the Zone

The Group will show no work at any time that does not conform to its standards of pure photography.
Pure photography is defined as possessing no qualities of technique, composition or idea, derivative of
any other art form. The production of the Pictorialist, on the other hand, indicates a devotion to
principles of art which are directly related to painting and the graphic arts. (Krehbiel) With this
manifest, the current group created rules so to speak that the Group f/64 was all about. Although its

the members moved away from San Francisco leaving the group completely. Adams is considered
still, today one of the major contributor to their success. (Alinder, 89) Ansel Adams, with the help of
his good friend Fred Archer, created a photographic technique called the Zone System. The tonal
contrast of the negative could be enhanced or diminished by different combinations of exposure and
development, a concept that would later become the basis of Ansel s framed Zone System (Alinder,
90). The Zone System is a technique for professional photographers to use for developing their

Search For The Right Way Of Life In Herman Hesse s Siddhartha
Siddhartha
Lap Topic #6
By: Jose Guerra
Due: 11/30/2017
Jose Guerra 11/30/17
We go on day by day in search for the right way of life, but whose right is it to tell us how we live?
Who is to tell us right from wrong? In many cultures, religion dictates what people perceive to be
moral and not. Although religion is accepted into the lifestyle of many, what happens to those that do
not find fulfillment in the words of the people preaching these beliefs? In the book Siddhartha by
Herman Hesse, the life of the protagonist named Siddhartha is expressed through his issues to find
satisfaction in teachings. He didn t find fulfillment in the words of others, not of his father, not the
oldest samana, not even the Sublime One(the Buddha). The novel takes you through every step of his
life and at the end of the book there is an ironic message. The message contradicts everything he
believed that was going to aid him on this journey to Nirvana which surprises the readers.
The novel begins in the early stages of Siddhartha s life. He was a brahmin s son which meant he was
in an upper class compared to most. As a young man he had everything, he had the life that many
dreamed. His life was that of someone that was easily envied, but in reality he wasn t living the perfect
life. He was dissatisfied with the teachings of the brahmins and he didn t find fulfillment in their
words although he was a pandit. He mastered their teachings but couldn t master their meaning.

Essay on Odysseus Journey Home
During Odysseus journey back home to Ithaca, him and his crew encountered many evils and troubles.
Almost every one of these took at least one of his men. Scylla is an example of this. This monster took
six of Odysseus men while on the journey home. Nearly ever was it Odysseus fault. His men caused
most of the problems that haunted them back to Ithaca. His hardships started when he was sent off to
fight in the Trojan War. He had to fight because he had made an oath to Helen s husband that he would
always defend her honor. When Paris abducted Helen he was then forced to fight. After he had fought
for Helen and had left, the wind then swept him to the island of the Cicones and fought and lost many

that they needed to find a way to get out of there and so they did. When the Cyclopes awoke,
Odysseus offered him some of his wine and he tried it and begged for more so Odysseus just kept
giving it to him drink by drink until he was drunk. The Cyclopes asked Odysseus what his name was
and Odysseus said Nothing. As soon he asked that, he fell over and slept peacefully. While he was
sleeping Odysseus found a large branch and asked his strongest men to put the tip in the fire and when
it was burning red, they shoved the hot part of the stick into the Cyclopes eye. The Cyclopes let out a
loud roar that woke up his neighbors. They came running and asked if someone was killing him and
the Cyclopes answered Nothing is killing me! So his neighbors left without second thought. When the
Cyclopes let his herd of sheep out Odysseus and his men clang to the bottom of the sheep and left the
island safely. After suffering from the Cyclopes, Odysseus ship came to a stop at the land of Aeolia

Military Politics Of The United States
(intro) Imagine this you look about the window, see gunfire and American citizens walking around in
handcuffs. Two of them are cops and another is someone s grandfather. Military spending affects
everyone living in the US, because the nation s defense is what keeps us safe. Think about this world
threats are rising, and we are an international superpower. The United States need a strong defense,
not a cheap one. Although increased military spending could result in more national debt issues, it
would provide a strong defense network for the country and create more military jobs and income.

However, the benefits of a well funded military would be monumental.
We would be a very well protected world power, create more military jobs, a better working
environment for our troops and other military personnel, and it would help stimulate the economy in
countless ways. Living in America is something that almost all of our citizens enjoy daily. It is the
government s responsibility to protect this right. America can t be free if it becomes controlled by
terrorists, Nazis, Fascists, dictators, communists, Imperialists or other world evils. All serving military
personnel took an oath to serve and protect this country, but that is hard to do that without proper
equipment, small funding, and an outdated military.
A strong and ready army is one of the metaphorical pillars that support our nation. A good country
needs many things including resources, protection, suitable environment, a strong yet fair government,
and other important things.
Most people are convinced we have the best military in the world. The reality is that our military is in
the same situation as before WWII: underfunded, and out of date. The USAF (United States Air Force)
is still currently using the B 52 Bomber, a plane that was introduced when President Truman was in

The Struggles Of Women s Equality
Historically, women had to fight for their rights to vote and the right to gain economic or personal
independence like men. Women have been subjected to unequal treatment and discrimination
regardless of their race, culture or socioeconomic status. From birth boys and girls, male and female
are expected by society to play certain roles based on gender, religions and other beliefs. Gender
stereotypes have enforced the difference between men and women, it labels women as weak,
submissive, they should be taking care of the household etc. Hence, most women lose opportunities
because they are perceived as vulnerable and unable to participate in certain activities. The struggles
of women s equality started in the 1800s where women in the United States wanted equal rights to
vote and have equal job opportunity like men. It is not right for one gender to be superior over the
other. Hence, women such as Susan B. Anthony who drafted The Declaration of Sentiments and
Resolutions demanded equality for women to be educated and gain employment. Cady Stanton along
with Susan Anthony formed the National Woman Suffrage Association, Lucy Stone and Henry
Blackwell amongst others formed the American Women Suffrage Association demanding voting rights
for women. The declaration of independence states that, all men are created equal and has the right to
life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (The Declaraton of Independence, 1776). With all the efforts
made throughout the years congress

Kant And Analytic Propositions
In Philosophy Analytic synthetic distinction is a conceptual distinction of statements or propositions.
A statement or proposition is a content of a sentence that accepts or denies something. There are two
types of propositions introduced by Kant one is analytic proposition and other is synthetic proposition.
Analytic propositions are true by definition and the predicate concept is present in the subject.
Synthetic propositions are true by experience and the predicate concept is not present in the subject.
Examples of analytic propositions:
1. Bachelors are unmarried men
In the above proposition the predicate that is unmarried men is present in the definition of Bachelors
2. Square have four equal sides
In the above proposition having four ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Acoording to Carnap analytic statement is true is it is only logically true and self contradictory if
logically false. Otherwise any statement is synthetic. He introduced two notions: L true and L false. If
L true is considered if the statement s truth is depends on semantic rule. L false is considered if the
statements negation is L true. Analytic statement is L determined that is the statement can be either L
true or L false. Synthetic statement is if the statement is not L determined that is the statement is
neither L true nor L false.
Quine in the paper the two dogmas of empiricism denied the distinction of analytic and synthetic and
argued that there are no analytic truths. Quine has given two classes of statements.
1. No unmarried man is married
The above sentence is true by interpretation of man and married and if logical particles no , un and is
have meaning in ordinary English.
2. No bachelor is married
The above sentence can be turned in to logical truth by putting synonym for synonyms. The second
sentence can be changed to first sentence by exchanging synonym (bachelor) with synonym
(unmarried man). To say this sentence is analytic we have to find whether man is synonymous with
rational animal by empirically and this is very difficult to test empirically by linguistic usage. So, this
second class of sentence has lack of characterisation according

Because I Could Not Stop For Death And Death Be Not Proud
Death and the afterlife exist as the most controversial topics in existence. Mortality is a fact, but no
one knows what happens afterwards. Some choose to believe in an afterlife, others believe death to be
the end. Many artists and writers have tried to interpret death and restrict it to a picture or words. It
can prove challenging as no one has experienced death and lived to tell the tale. Though challenging it
has not prevented those brave enough to attempt to capture the essence of death. Death be not Proud
by John Donne, Because I could not stop for Death and I Heard a Fly Buzz When I Died both by
Emily Dickinson, attempt to confine death into a prison made of letters. These poems deal with
different encounters with metaphorical death. Death be not Proud deals with death in the present tense.
The narrator encounters personified death face to face, and begins spouting their opinions of him.
They compare death to rest and sleep, degrading death s power. Next he declares death nothing but a
slave to fate chance. As if all the insults did not suffice, the finishing blow comes when the narrator
calls death a short sleep. Because once they die they will just live again eternally, instead death will
die forever. Donne wrote from a Christian viewpoint, believing death is not worthy of fear. ... Show

Descriptive Essay About Homeless People
Over 60 million tourists visit New York each year from all across the world. Last summer, my family
and I were lucky enough to be some of those tourists. The trip changed my view on a lot of different
things, ranging all the way from how people act on the Subways, to the diversity of the city itself. It
was such a unique learning experience for me, and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to travel
somewhere that was so drastically different from what I am used to.
In 2017, there were 62,351 homeless people living in New York. I had seen homeless people down by
the Subway tracks in different movies, but seeing it in person made me realize how real of a problem
it was. When we got off at our Subway station, there were homeless people sitting on the stairs,
between Subway tracks, on benches, and anywhere else they could find a spot. Some were covered in
newspapers with ratted blankets around them, some looked like they hadn t showered in weeks, and
others looked like they had never owned a toothbrush in their life. Most of them were asking for
change and shaking some coins in a cup at us as we walked by. We hadn t been off the Subway for
more than 10 minutes, and I had already seen at least three homeless people. Little did I know, that
was just the beginning.
As we walked up the stairs and out onto the streets of New York City, I was amazed by how many
homeless people I saw. Outside, some of them had dogs with them that looked almost as beat up as
they did. Most of them had signs in their laps that read things like HOMELESS NEED FOOD AND
MONEY or WILL WORK FOR MONEY. Later on in the day, we went to Shake Shack (a burger and
shake place) for lunch. When we sat down to eat, we saw that there was a homeless man walking
around to different tables asking people if they could give him some money. One guy told the man to
go get a job and do something with his life. The homeless man wasn t very happy with this response
and began marching around their table cursing at them. I realize that there could have been something
mentally wrong with this man, however, it made me realize how poorly some people treat the
homeless. A simple no or no thank you would have been a fine response, especially when you don t

Four Theories Of The Press Essay
Four Theories of the press According to three professors of communication Fred S. Siebert, Theodore
Peterson and Wilbur Schramm there are four theories of the Press (Siebert, Peterson and Schramm,
1956).
Authoritarian Theory Authoritarian theory in mass media can be comprehended as media that operate
under either publicly or privately owned (Biagi, 2012). The authoritarian theory is origin from Ancient
Greece philosophy Plato (407 327 B.C) with the theory who thought that the State was safe only in the
hands of a few wise men (Peoi.org, 2015). Then, a brittish academician, Thomas Hobbes (1588 1679)
had argued that the power to maintain order was sovereign and individual objections were to be
ignored (Peoi.org, 2015). Another German thinker, Engel further reinforced the theory by stating that
freedom came into its supreme right only under Authoritarianism (Peoi.org, 2015). Authoritarian
theory concept of the press is developed in Europe after Gutenberg. Presses in Europe were privately
owned until the 1850s. However the aristocracy who governed the countries wanted some sort of
control on the financial and political power. The aristocracy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Libertarian theory is under private sphere (Penning, 2006). The libertarian theory declares that,
everyone has the right to publish anything that he wants without fear of the constraints of licensing or
censorship. This theory is free from government control, even to the point of allowing attacks on
institution (Amira, 2012). In this theory, the Libertarian model functions as a watchdog to monitor
government policy. However, there are also limitations among the libertarian model. Limitations of
libertarian like journalism have been unwilling to recognize and censure colleagues who violate
professional standards. Sometimes, there will be standards overly abstract and ambiguous. Journalism
may pursue truth aggressively and present the news

Why Is Divine Command Theory Morally Good
Philosophy 111
Andrew Irvine

Divine Command Theory
Dan Glaser 20540143
Divine Command Theory is the idea that morality is grounded in God s nature, such that something
(i.e., a choice, behaviour, action, etc.) is morally good because it was commanded by God. Something
that is considered morally evil, is such because God forbids it from being done. For example, the bible
teaches us to love our neighbours and be generous and is there for considered morally good actions
because God commands it upon us. Likewise, it is considered morally evil to steal and murder because
God forbids it. If you believe that moral actions are good or bad because they are commanded or
forbidden by God, then every moral good or bad action must have been commanded or forbidden by
God. If the action was not commanded or forbidden, then they would not be considered good nor bad.
If God had commanded to hate thy neighbour , then Christians and Jewish people would behave in
that fashion. Plato s question of Is x good because God loves it or does God love x because x is good?
address this point by showing that moral code is somewhat arbitrary. ... Show more content on

This suggests that God is not the creator of morally good and morally bad, but rather a recognizer of
right and wrong. This suggests that God is also subject to moral law and is not the judge of morally
right and wrong like Divine Command Theory suggests. John Arthur (2005) mentions that If God
approves kindness because it is a virtue and hates the Nazis because they were evil, then it seems that
God discovers morality rather than inventing it. This is a problem for people who believe in Divine
Command Theory because it suggests that God is also subject to moral law and is not the omniscient
being that theists

The Struggle for Power and Authority
The development and use of power and authority are two of the basic concepts that indwell mankind.
The two novels Animal Farm and Lord of the Flies both have main characters that uniquely manifest
these attributes. Napoleon and Jack approach discipline in a dictorial manner by using intimidation,
propaganda and fear while Snowball and Ralph apply a more democratic method when dealing with
the animals. Napoleon and Snowball have different techniques and values on how leadership in life
should be conducted. This is also true in Lord of the Flies in the conflict between Ralph and Jack.
Throughout the novel it is evident that the theme between Democracy and Dictatorship is always
present. Animal Farm is a perfect example of this. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No animal shall kill any other animals 7. All animals are equal (Orwell, pg 17) Abuse is frequently
present throughout history, as George Orwell the author of Animal Farm illustrates in his dystopian
allegorical story. It mimics the social structure of life in the communist era when Joseph Stalin ruled
the USSR with an iron fist. Joseph Stalin, a communist leader, ruled Russia with an iron fist from
1933 until his death in 1953. He cared more about his power than he did about human life. During
Stalin s reign, 12 million Russians lost their lives. Many were murdered by government forces; many
died from starvation and overwork. (George Orwell fights the power) Therefore this is why Orwell
understood that it was not leading to equality for all. At the beginning of the novel one of the
characters is directly modeled on the Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin. His name is Napoleon and
becomes known as an utterly corrupt opportunist. Napoleon did not make a distinct contribution to the
revolution not to the formulation of its ideology, not to the bloody struggle that it necessitates, or even
not to the new society s initial attempts to establish itself. He under no circumstances shows any
interest in the strength of the farm but, simply the strength of his supremacy over it. As a result, the
only project he commences with passion is the training of the new born puppies. Napoleon does not

Philadelphia Phillies at Ebbets Field in New York. During the game, the first true TV commercial
aired in the U.S. The ten seconds long commercial for Bulova Watch Co. was broadcasted on WNBC,
and from that day, the golden age of television advertisement begins. Ever since the first ad appeared
on television, it s not hard to sense a pattern that repeatedly shows up in these commercials, even
though these products may have different functions and their purpose may vary. But often times the

revealing clothes with the products that the commercial wants to sell. ... Show more content on

In the ad, it features ten supermodels with unrealistically thin bodies and long legs in their Victoria s
Secret s underwear. By putting on the tagline the perfect body , it is implying that women who do not
look like them, which are most women today, have an imperfect body. It put in the idea or concept of a
perfect body in your head with which the product was associated. By lowering the viewer s self
esteem and making them feel inadequate and unattractive, Victoria s Secret are offering the solution:
buy our underwear, it will make people like you. Some would argue that with the ad, the link between
Victoria s Secret bra and supermodel s bodies was created, once you look at the products, you think
about the so call perfect bodies that are wearing them, giving the viewer the Illusion or myth of this is
what I will look like once I purchase their bra. But some would think this argument is mistaken
because they overlook the fact that people understand what they look like. It is not logical to assume

Jean Luc Godard s Le Mepris
Le Mépris is a film distinct in Jean Luc Godard s career, for many reasons: amongst others, it was his
first foray into a more big budget, large scale production. Ironically or perhaps purposefully one of the
overarching themes explored within Le Mépris is maintaining artistic integrity, whilst attaining
commercial success. Nowhere is this better explored than the famous middle sequence: their extended
argument indoors. I aim to analyse this scene s depiction as not only a simple argument between
tumultuous lovers, but as it s symbolic exploration of their decaying relationship as a whole,
encompassing many of the overarching themes of Le Mépris love, ennui, and of course, contempt.
As soon as they step into their home, the door ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps this is really a subversive way to express the emptiness consuming their relationship.
Significant too at the beginning of this scene, is the way the camera follows Lucille and Paul. The
majority of the time they are framed in shots alone, only in passing does the frame capture them both.
Though they are inhabiting the same space, the choice to capture them separately is very deliberate,
highlighting the isolation mounting within their relationship as they start to grow apart; tying into the
existential theme that eventually, we all die alone. The vehicle of a failing relationship to depict this
existential dread is an apt choice; nowhere more is isolation emphasized than in contrast of it s
antithesis: once romantic love, the communion of two souls.
Paul seems engrossed with his letters, pacing around the apartment staring at them, never really lifting
his eyes to properly meet his wife s gaze. The letters are symbolic of his work his priorities now lie
there, and not his wife. For a second, Lucille seems to snap from a sullen mood to a more playful one,
and perhaps in a bid to grasp her husband s attention once more, she asks him to guess what she
bought today. When he asks what, and does not get an immediate answer, he reacts with irritation

Nelson Mandela s School Years Research Paper
This publication goes into great detail about Mandela s school years. Mandela was the first in his
family to attend school, and was actually given the opportunity to go to school because his father was
a respected African chief. While in school, he was taught various subjects, but was really stricken by
his history class because he was taught about the days where African people lived in peace, before the
white people arrived. This particular piece of information was worth mentioning in the paper because
the education Mandela received in history class about the peaceful days would later inspire him to
fight for an independent South Africa. This publication later mentions the African National Congress,

drastically different viewpoints to their readers regarding the same topic. A viewpoint, which can be
defined as a way of thinking and speaking about a specific topic, is expressed in an article per how the
author determines, based on opinion or selected facts (Mayfield, 2014, p.201 202). Opinions are

has raised the quality standards as the consumers are aware of their rights on the manufacturers and
the society. Every year, brands of the years are awarded to the most successful and favorite
organizations of the world in every industry. This paper is about BMW, one of the best global brands
in the modern 21st century (Interbrand, 2012). BMW is a brand of vehicles which is considered a
symbol of quality and status among its customers (Gantriis, 2008). The brand offers variety of
products ranging from motorcycles to cars. The brand is famous for high quality engines installed in
the BMW vehicles. The reason of engine strength lies in the fact that the idea of BMW car
manufacturing was conceived from the practice of producing aircraft engines. There was a time when
BMW was only an engine manufacturer and the engines were installed in various vehicles. The
success in the field of powerful engines led BMW to start its own manufacturing plant for vehicles.
The production started from motorbike in 1923 (BMW, 2012) and the dawn of 1929 witnessed the

How Did The Industrial Revolution Affect The...
In the pre globalization world fashion had a vertical trend. As geographic borders merged through
trade, travel, communication, and technology, information and ideas for fashion were transmitted.
Though international trade of fibers and textiles has influenced cultures throughout history, increasing
technology has resulted in diffusion of trends to the four corners of the globe. The Industrial
Revolution improved the quality of life in the lower class, causing fashion to become more
democratic. Technology allows items and people to travel worldwide faster than ever, and images and
information can be communicated instantaneously. However, to adapt to the fierce competitiveness of
the global market, the fashion industry has relocated production to developing countries with poor
working conditions; for democratization of fashion to be complete these inequities must change
(Gestal, 2015).

Sally Cabaret Essay
Cabaret starts off with the main character Sally Bowles, who is a burlesque dancer who works at Kit

believe the interpretation of Sally Bowles is similar to the book, but I conceived her character is too
overly sexual in the movie, compared to the book. I think that Sally is over sexualized in the movie,
because she is seen a lot of time in skimpy clothes. Sally Bowles meets an Oxford student name Brian

Christopher Isherwood himself. Both Brian and Christopher in the movie and in the novel, both fall in

An Analysis Of Mirror, Courage, The Explorer, And...
To Die With Courage
(The Essence of Courage)
Having courage is a big factor in life. To have courage and go and try everything life, you will have no
regrets. Courage is the, mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or
difficulty (Webster). Have fun in life and be brave and spontaneous. This is not, however, because
someone who thinks bravely is simply a courageous person, thinking. (Ryan). If you put your mind to
something and not be afraid, you will live a wonderful life. In the four poems, Mirror, Courage, The
Explorer, and Frederick Douglass, the big overall message has to deal with courage. In Sylvia Plath s
poem, Mirror, the big overall message is the notice that growing old is inevitable. You can t go back
and relive your youth, all you do is age. In this poem, a mirror is speaking about itself, this is ironic
because mirrors don t talk. I am silver and exact, I have no preconceptions. (Plath 1052). Then, there
is a lady, looking at herself through the years as she ages. Appearance is such a high topic in this
society now days because it is how people look at you. Appearance counts. (Reisner). How many
times do you look in a mirror a day? Or a window or anything that even shows your reflection? Many
people focus on their appearance because that is normally the first thing people notice. Have courage
to be yourself and not worry about what others think about you. In the poem, Courage, by Anne
Sexton, the big message is

Argumentative Essay On 3-Year English Language
How do humans communicate? Human communicate through language and if two people cannot
speak the same language, we run into trouble, mostly known as a language barrier. Students complain:
Why do we learn about electrons, Old English, geometry? ; the list goes on and on. Then, more often
than not, students express their frustration by stating schools should do a better job of teaching
subjects that are relevant for our future in life. A foreign language is a prototype of what is relevant to
our future. Students argue that a foreign language is pointless and they aren t going to need it in real

Teamwork is the best thing for a company and it really help to accomplish anything in the company.
Around the community, my behavior is still the same as I always has it in me. I don t really have any
attention this year. I would drive around but most of the time, I lost attention on driving and I wouldn t

remember what I ve learned in JROTC. It is the best thing to respect one another, especially the best to
respect the adults.
I am really glad to be in JROTC this year. I ve learned so many things about how to live in this word.
It changed my thought through everything that I haven t know about. When I think about my freshman

Comparison Of Forgiveness In Messala And Judah Ben Hur
Hope and Forgiveness
Judah Ben Hur, someone who is wrongly accused of treason by his (adopted) brother, who is involved
with the Roman army, returns to his home after years at sea to get his revenge, but finds redemption
instead. Ben Hur (1959+2016) Was directed by William Wyler (1959) and Timur Bekmambetov
(2016) and the cinematography was done by Oliver Wood (2016) and Robert Surtees (1959). Ben Hur
is about a conflict with authority, and two friends who reunite when they become adults. Judah
(Charlton Heston or Jack Huston) is Jewish and doesn t believe in what Rome is doing and Messala
(Stephen Boyd or Toby Kebbell) is a roman soldier. Ben Hur is a movie which shows forgiveness,

Now That This Paper Has Evaluated Aquinas’S Summa Contra
Now that this paper has evaluated Aquinas s Summa Contra Gentiles, it will move on to evaluate his
next important work. In the years 1265 1274 Aquinas wrote what is considered one of his most
prominent works, The Summa Theologiae. In Summa Theologiae (also known as Suma Theologica or
simply Summa), Aquinas gave five proofs for the existence of God. This paper will first tell why these
proofs are necessary then describe the proofs in themselves. These proofs are necessary because
Aquinas believed that the existence of God is not self evident. A self evident proposition is one in
which the predicate forms part of what is meant by the subject (PUT, 103). Meaning that God exists is
not self evident because we cannot grasp divine essence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore anything that is in the process of changing cannot change itself so one thing is changed by
another which in turn is changed by yet another (Clark, 122). Eventually, this stream of change has to
stop somewhere or else there would be no first cause of change and consequently no subsequent
causes. So when we come to the first cause that is not changed by anything else, Aquinas believed it is
what we understand to be God (Clark, 122 123).
The second proof is derived from the nature of causation. Aquinas thought that in the natural world we
find causes in a natural order of succession. We never see something causing itself because if we did
then it would be pre existing and this would be impossible (Clark, 123). Every first cause impacts an
intermediate (there can be many intermediates) which then impacts a last. You cannot take out any one
cause without getting rid of its effects (Clark, 123). So you cannot take out the first cause without
losing the intermediates and last causes that follow. Thus Aquinas thought that we must suppose a first
cause, which is God (Clark, 123). The third proof addresses the issue of what is unnecessary and what
is unnecessary. Our experience has shown us that in life there are things that are necessary and things
that are unnecessary. Things that are

Giorgio and Costantino had their first involvement in the family business during this period. By the
time the Bulgaris resumed business after the interruptions of World War I, the company had completed

where the world s rich and famous came for the unique, high quality jewelry designs combining Greek

I found this lecture relevant to my final project. My topic is the changing trends in the apparel industry. How Corporate Social Responsibility affects the supply chain, going local from global, vertical from horizontal. The lecture is relevant in many aspects, for example the knowledge society s changes and ethical issues and responsibility within the apparel industry. The first part of the essay briefly speaks about the lecture Creative Economy and also introduces my final project. The second part explains in more detail the difference between horizontal and vertical integration. It also overviews the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Environment: This part argues that who is responsible for the environmental damages, how much concern the designer has for our environment. Aging Generation: says that older generations are a strong market for quality design, because they have time to enjoy all its benefits and they can afford it. And finally Ethical issues, which is the most important from my point of view. This is the part were my project could connect to Martin s lecture. It gives data about child labour in different countries in different industries. It argues that our society should educate consumers better to know more about the true cost of products they buy. The lecture says that the commercial success depends on these four factors I explained before. My Project In my original project proposal I was intended to research trends in manufacturing such as going local from global and going vertical from horizontal integration. However I realized since that such trends are mostly triggered by Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policies responding to customer demands. I would like to narrow down my project to focus on the affects of CSR on the apparel industry s supply chain. Therefor my research project aims to examine how CSR as a global trend affects vertically and horizontally integrated manufacturing in the fashion/apparel industry. A company won t integrate vertically its production if it against its business interest. There are some vertically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These researchers found that health related quality of life (HRQoL) is highly affected in both disorders. The woman in the video was wearing a black t shirt and jeans. • 9. Search For The Right Way Of Life In Herman Hesse s Siddhartha Siddhartha Lap Topic #6 By: Jose Guerra Due: 11/30/2017 Jose Guerra 11/30/17 We go on day by day in search for the right way of life, but whose right is it to tell us how we live? Who is to tell us right from wrong? In many cultures, religion dictates what people perceive to be moral and not. Although religion is accepted into the lifestyle of many, what happens to those that do not find fulfillment in the words of the people preaching these beliefs? In the book Siddhartha by Herman Hesse, the life of the protagonist named Siddhartha is expressed through his issues to find satisfaction in teachings. He didn t find fulfillment in the words of others, not of his father, not the oldest samana, not even the Sublime One(the Buddha). The novel takes you through every step of his life and at the end of the book there is an ironic message. The message contradicts everything he believed that was going to aid him on this journey to Nirvana which surprises the readers. The novel begins in the early stages of Siddhartha s life. He was a brahmin s son which meant he was in an upper class compared to most. As a young man he had everything, he had the life that many dreamed. His life was that of someone that was easily envied, but in reality he wasn t living the perfect life. He was dissatisfied with the teachings of the brahmins and he didn t find fulfillment in their words although he was a pandit. He mastered their teachings but couldn t master their meaning. ... • 12. The Struggles Of Women s Equality Historically, women had to fight for their rights to vote and the right to gain economic or personal independence like men. Women have been subjected to unequal treatment and discrimination regardless of their race, culture or socioeconomic status. From birth boys and girls, male and female are expected by society to play certain roles based on gender, religions and other beliefs. Gender stereotypes have enforced the difference between men and women, it labels women as weak, submissive, they should be taking care of the household etc. Hence, most women lose opportunities because they are perceived as vulnerable and unable to participate in certain activities. The struggles of women s equality started in the 1800s where women in the United States wanted equal rights to vote and have equal job opportunity like men. It is not right for one gender to be superior over the other. Hence, women such as Susan B. Anthony who drafted The Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions demanded equality for women to be educated and gain employment. Cady Stanton along with Susan Anthony formed the National Woman Suffrage Association, Lucy Stone and Henry Blackwell amongst others formed the American Women Suffrage Association demanding voting rights for women. • 14. Because I Could Not Stop For Death And Death Be Not Proud Death and the afterlife exist as the most controversial topics in existence. Mortality is a fact, but no one knows what happens afterwards. Some choose to believe in an afterlife, others believe death to be the end. Many artists and writers have tried to interpret death and restrict it to a picture or words. It can prove challenging as no one has experienced death and lived to tell the tale. Though challenging it has not prevented those brave enough to attempt to capture the essence of death. Death be not Proud by John Donne, Because I could not stop for Death and I Heard a Fly Buzz When I Died both by Emily Dickinson, attempt to confine death into a prison made of letters. These poems deal with different encounters with metaphorical death. Death be not Proud deals with death in the present tense. The narrator encounters personified death face to face, and begins spouting their opinions of him. They compare death to rest and sleep, degrading death s power. Next he declares death nothing but a slave to fate chance. As if all the insults did not suffice, the finishing blow comes when the narrator calls death a short sleep. Because once they die they will just live again eternally, instead death will die forever. Donne wrote from a Christian viewpoint, believing death is not worthy of fear. ... • 15. Descriptive Essay About Homeless People Over 60 million tourists visit New York each year from all across the world. Last summer, my family and I were lucky enough to be some of those tourists. The trip changed my view on a lot of different things, ranging all the way from how people act on the Subways, to the diversity of the city itself. It was such a unique learning experience for me, and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to travel somewhere that was so drastically different from what I am used to. In 2017, there were 62,351 homeless people living in New York. I had seen homeless people down by the Subway tracks in different movies, but seeing it in person made me realize how real of a problem it was. When we got off at our Subway station, there were homeless people sitting on the stairs, between Subway tracks, on benches, and anywhere else they could find a spot. Some were covered in newspapers with ratted blankets around them, some looked like they hadn t showered in weeks, and others looked like they had never owned a toothbrush in their life. Most of them were asking for change and shaking some coins in a cup at us as we walked by. We hadn t been off the Subway for more than 10 minutes, and I had already seen at least three homeless people. Little did I know, that was just the beginning. As we walked up the stairs and out onto the streets of New York City, I was amazed by how many homeless people I saw. Outside, some of them had dogs with them that looked almost as beat up as they did. Most of them had signs in their laps that read things like HOMELESS NEED FOOD AND MONEY or WILL WORK FOR MONEY. Later on in the day, we went to Shake Shack (a burger and shake place) for lunch. When we sat down to eat, we saw that there was a homeless man walking around to different tables asking people if they could give him some money. One guy told the man to go get a job and do something with his life. The homeless man wasn t very happy with this response and began marching around their table cursing at them. I realize that there could have been something mentally wrong with this man, however, it made me realize how poorly some people treat the homeless. Siebert, Theodore Peterson and Wilbur Schramm there are four theories of the Press (Siebert, Peterson and Schramm, 1956). Authoritarian Theory Authoritarian theory in mass media can be comprehended as media that operate under either publicly or privately owned (Biagi, 2012). The authoritarian theory is origin from Ancient Greece philosophy Plato (407 327 B.C) with the theory who thought that the State was safe only in the hands of a few wise men (Peoi.org, 2015). Then, a brittish academician, Thomas Hobbes (1588 1679) had argued that the power to maintain order was sovereign and individual objections were to be ignored (Peoi.org, 2015). Another German thinker, Engel further reinforced the theory by stating that freedom came into its supreme right only under Authoritarianism (Peoi.org, 2015). • 17. Why Is Divine Command Theory Morally Good Philosophy 111 Andrew Irvine September 25, 2014 Divine Command Theory Dan Glaser 20540143 Divine Command Theory is the idea that morality is grounded in God s nature, such that something (i.e., a choice, behaviour, action, etc.) is morally good because it was commanded by God. Something that is considered morally evil, is such because God forbids it from being done. For example, the bible teaches us to love our neighbours and be generous and is there for considered morally good actions because God commands it upon us. Likewise, it is considered morally evil to steal and murder because God forbids it. If you believe that moral actions are good or bad because they are commanded or forbidden by God, then every moral good or bad action must have been commanded or forbidden by God. If the action was not commanded or forbidden, then they would not be considered good nor bad. If God had commanded to hate thy neighbour , then Christians and Jewish people would behave in that fashion. Plato s question of Is x good because God loves it or does God love x because x is good? address this point by showing that moral code is somewhat arbitrary. ... It mimics the social structure of life in the communist era when Joseph Stalin ruled the USSR with an iron fist. Joseph Stalin, a communist leader, ruled Russia with an iron fist from 1933 until his death in 1953. He cared more about his power than he did about human life. During Stalin s reign, 12 million Russians lost their lives. Many were murdered by government forces; many died from starvation and overwork. Napoleon did not make a distinct contribution to the revolution not to the formulation of its ideology, not to the bloody struggle that it necessitates, or even not to the new society s initial attempts to establish itself. Significant too at the beginning of this scene, is the way the camera follows Lucille and Paul. Though they are inhabiting the same space, the choice to capture them separately is very deliberate, highlighting the isolation mounting within their relationship as they start to grow apart; tying into the existential theme that eventually, we all die alone. The vehicle of a failing relationship to depict this existential dread is an apt choice; nowhere more is isolation emphasized than in contrast of it s antithesis: once romantic love, the communion of two souls. Paul seems engrossed with his letters, pacing around the apartment staring at them, never really lifting his eyes to properly meet his wife s gaze. The Industrial Revolution improved the quality of life in the lower class, causing fashion to become more democratic. Technology allows items and people to travel worldwide faster than ever, and images and information can be communicated instantaneously. However, to adapt to the fierce competitiveness of the global market, the fashion industry has relocated production to developing countries with poor working conditions; for democratization of fashion to be complete these inequities must change (Gestal, 2015). • 28. Sally Cabaret Essay Cabaret starts off with the main character Sally Bowles, who is a burlesque dancer who works at Kit Kat Klub. Sally Bowles character is based off on the same Sally Bowlers in Goodbye to Berlin . I believe the interpretation of Sally Bowles is similar to the book, but I conceived her character is too overly sexual in the movie, compared to the book. I think that Sally is over sexualized in the movie, because she is seen a lot of time in skimpy clothes. Sally Bowles meets an Oxford student name Brian Roberts, whom she brings to the lodges. I believe that Brian Roberts is derived to the author, Christopher Isherwood himself. Both Brian and Christopher in the movie and in the novel, both fall in love with Sally for similar reasons. To have courage and go and try everything life, you will have no regrets. Courage is the, mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty (Webster). Have fun in life and be brave and spontaneous. This is not, however, because someone who thinks bravely is simply a courageous person, thinking. (Ryan). If you put your mind to something and not be afraid, you will live a wonderful life. In the four poems, Mirror, Courage, The Explorer, and Frederick Douglass, the big overall message has to deal with courage. In Sylvia Plath s poem, Mirror, the big overall message is the notice that growing old is inevitable. You can t go back and relive your youth, all you do is age. In this poem, a mirror is speaking about itself, this is ironic because mirrors don t talk. I am silver and exact, I have no preconceptions. (Plath 1052). Then, there is a lady, looking at herself through the years as she ages. Appearance is such a high topic in this society now days because it is how people look at you. Appearance counts. (Reisner). How many times do you look in a mirror a day? Or a window or anything that even shows your reflection? Many people focus on their appearance because that is normally the first thing people notice. • 33. Now That This Paper Has Evaluated Aquinas’S Summa Contra Now that this paper has evaluated Aquinas s Summa Contra Gentiles, it will move on to evaluate his next important work. In the years 1265 1274 Aquinas wrote what is considered one of his most prominent works, The Summa Theologiae. In Summa Theologiae (also known as Suma Theologica or simply Summa), Aquinas gave five proofs for the existence of God. This paper will first tell why these proofs are necessary then describe the proofs in themselves. These proofs are necessary because Aquinas believed that the existence of God is not self evident. A self evident proposition is one in which the predicate forms part of what is meant by the subject (PUT, 103). Meaning that God exists is not self evident because we cannot grasp divine essence ... Therefore anything that is in the process of changing cannot change itself so one thing is changed by another which in turn is changed by yet another (Clark, 122). Eventually, this stream of change has to stop somewhere or else there would be no first cause of change and consequently no subsequent causes. So when we come to the first cause that is not changed by anything else, Aquinas believed it is what we understand to be God (Clark, 122 123). The second proof is derived from the nature of causation. Aquinas thought that in the natural world we find causes in a natural order of succession. We never see something causing itself because if we did then it would be pre existing and this would be impossible (Clark, 123). Every first cause impacts an intermediate (there can be many intermediates) which then impacts a last. You cannot take out any one cause without getting rid of its effects (Clark, 123). So you cannot take out the first cause without losing the intermediates and last causes that follow. Thus Aquinas thought that we must suppose a first cause, which is God (Clark, 123). The third proof addresses the issue of what is unnecessary and what is unnecessary. Our experience has shown us that in life there are things that are necessary and things that are unnecessary.
