Crystallization Synthesis
Before crystallization, the unknown weighed 0.83 g, it was white, soft, and had small ball clumps
almost producing a salt like appearance. About 70 mL of ethanol was used to purify the unknown.
Within the final stages of fully dissolving the ethanol with the unknown, the unknown started to
crystallize quickly, therefore, no ice bath was needed. After the unknown air dried, it was clear,
soft, flaky, and it looked like ice. In terms of purity of the solid, recrystallization worked because it
dissolved both the impurities and the compound within ethanol. The impurities were removed and
the pure solution was left behind after being filtered. In terms of yield, recrystallization worked
because there was a significant amount of the unknown after it has been crystallized.... Show more

When identifying the unknown compound, the top three predictions were: acenaphthene,
phenoxyacetic acid, and benzil. Based on the melting points (see Table II.), the unknown solid
compound was most likely to be acenaphthene. Before the melting process, the unknown was
observed to be white, flaky, shiny, and soft. When it was mixed with other compounds, the
characteristics began to change. For instance, when the unknown was mixed with acenaphthene, the
solid was grainy and white. When it was mixed with benzil, the solution was green and glittery. Last
but not least, when the unknown was mixed with phenoxyacetic Acid, the solid was powdery and
white. Through observations, the unknown dissolved better with the acenaphthene and
phenoxyacetic acid as it resulted in a homogeneous

Examining Cloud Computation Technologies Essay
Cloud computing involves a lot of concepts and technologies. Companies and corporations such as
Amazon, Google and Microsoft are providing services following the logic of computational
infrastructure cloud computing, with Amazon the pioneer in providing and marketing
infrastructure of this kind. The academic community has also shown interest in cloud computing,
and some work has been directed to improvements in aspects of performance, security, usability,
implementation and reliability of the system as a whole (Armbrust et al. 2009). Other work has
developed new techniques to make adequate infrastructure to each context of cloud computing
environments, among which we highlight the project Eucalyptus (Liu et al. 2007), developed by the

/introduction to hadoop/ The MapReduce system handles the processing through a master
process whose function is to orchestrate the processing, manage the process of grouping records
and distribute the blocks in a balanced manner. The MapReduce was implemented using C + +
and has interfaces to Java and Python. The MapReduce was developed by Google but there are
some open source implementations, among which stands out the Hadoop (Hadoop 2010). The
Hadoop is a framework of free code in Java to run applications that manipulate large amounts of
data in distributed environments. The Hadoop is composed by the file system HDFS (Hadoop
Distributed File System) and a parallel execution environment. Within this environment, or better,
the Hadoop framework, several subprojects can be found, such as the implementation of
MapReduce, the distributed data management system called HBase, data flow language r and
structure for parallel execution called Pig. The main characteristics of the Hadoop are:
distributed storage systems, file partitioned into large blocks is distributed on the nodes of the
system, blocks replicated to handle hardware failure and a location for temporary data. Unlike
other approaches to distributed file systems, the storage and processing of HDFS is done at each
node of the system. Thus, using the Hadoop or MapReduce is relatively easy for a computer
project working with

The Story Of The Movie The Great Gatsby And Snow...
Heroes are found everywhere when Disney is involved. From a prince or princess to secretive
toys to the smallest forms of life on earth, a hero can be found in anyone. Being attached to one
or a few is entirely common. These certain characters may be the ones they look up to. Young
girls often choose to look up to a princess, although, they are not what they were over 50 years
ago. The very first Disney princess, Snow White, is purely a damsel in distress. The same goes
for Aurora who appeared in Sleeping Beauty years later. As the years have gone on, that weaker
vision of a princess has faded. The modern day princesses are anything but damsels needing to be
saved by a man. Rapunzel chooses to give up her freedom in order to save Flynn Rider s life.
Tiana works hard to provide for herself so she can chase her dream. Merida rejects what
everyone else thinks she should be and is true to herself. Elsa only needs the love from her
sister. This list will only get bigger as Disney continues to create these young female heroines. If
anything, Disney is preaching to young girls everywhere to be strong in a world that may play on
their faults or weaknesses. During a time strong feminist movements, Disney manages to satisfy
demands by allowing the girl to be the hero. Though Snow White and Sleeping Beauty are still
timeless classics, the princesses of today set a better example for young girls everywhere and that
is why they seem to be more attractive than the originals. Disney has a

A Teacher Can Impact A Student s Life
Confucius, a famous Chinese teacher said, Education breeds confidence. Confidence breeds hope.
Hope breeds peace. In the previous quote by Confucius, it is obvious that a teacher can impact a
student s life. Moreover (TRANS), the way a teacher generates hope and confidence provide a good
equity at school for the students; therefore, a good teacher spread confidence in students, which
may help them to be encouraged. Maintaining the right balance of strictness and friendliness,
encouraging students, and finding the right teachingmethods for each student are three of the many
characteristics in becoming an inspirational teacher. First, maintaining the right balance of
strictness and friendliness is one of the most impactful factors for a teacher who (AC) tries to have
an appropriate relationship between students. Also, instructors are supposed to follow up with their
students to understand students difficulties and their situation in life. Providing an email address,
phone number, and office hours help students to keep in touch with their instructor. However,
teachers need to keep the balance between friendliness and strictness; moreover, an inspirational
instructor needs to set up some rules for the classroom environment. For example, the instructor
may request students politely that they are not allowed to use their phone during the class because
it distracts them from paying attention to the class and subject. However, instructors should not be
hard for their students

Features of Decision Making in a Political System
WHAT FEATURES OF DECISION MAKING IN POLITICAL SYSTEMS INFLUENCE THE
PRACTICE OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS?
INTRODUCTION
The changing role of law and the need to relate with a transforming society and its citizens has led
to a demand on decision making in political systems (Bijsterveld 2010). Due to the variance in the
decision making of these systems, interest groups carry out their public affairs (PA) activities in a
plethora of ways (Baumgartner 2007) as features such as type of political system, structure,
accountability, dependency on interest groups, etcetera influence PA practices. This stems from the
fact that issues that are significant in one political system might not be as significant in another
(Lowery, Poppelaars and Berkhout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
PA is however carried out in an unbiased and harmonious way as lobbyists work hand in hand
with EU officials (Woll 2006, Mahoney 2008) and other interest groups, as the EU would rather
grant access to a Europeanized voice when addressing issues.
With regards to choice of policies to influence, interest groups in the US are more focused on
influencing legislative matters rather than regulatory policies (Baumgartner 2007, Mahoney 2008)
as they seeks to influence the decisions of the congress, the court or the administrative government
(Hansford 2004). The EU is a regulatory regime, therefore, organized interest groups particularly
business interests prefer to lobby regulatory processes to secure their individual and collective
business interests (Levy and Prakash 2003). This is done because regulatory processes affect
businesses and more often than not have policy outcomes (Baumgartner 2007).
The level of dependence on organized civil societies (OCS) is another feature that influences the
practice of PA. EU s dependence on OCS arises from their lack of resources both financial and
human, to carry out their activities. The EU commission is highly short staffed, and in need of
OCS to provide technical information and act as contributory agents (Greenwood 2007). Therefore,
OCS play consultative and cooperative roles particularly in the Commission as

Compare And Contrast Liberalism And Socialism
These past few weeks we as a class have read and discussed so many different political ideologies
including liberalism and socialism. According to John Rawls s theory of justice for a liberal
society, liberalism can be seen as the interpretation of two principles, where the goal is to make
the person who is worst of better on distributive shares and also to attempt to even out class
barriers, school system be it public or private. Rawls s starts with the idea that citizens do not
deserve to be born into a rich or a poor family, to be born naturally more or less gifted than others,
to be born female or male, to be born a member of a particular racial group All social goods are to
be distributed equally, unless an unequal distribution would be to everyone s advantage.
Whereas socialism is similar where they want everyone to be equal, to have equal amounts, and
to the rid a society of a free market. Socialism s intent is to only have those consuming producing.
Any inequalities must improve everyone s situation, and especially the situation of the worst off.
Justice is like a social contract in which people come together to choose the basic principles that
will govern their society. Justice is the first virtue of social institutions. Injustice is simply
inequalities that are not to the benefit of all. The Main idea of the theory of justice is the theory
of social contract as found in say Locke, Rousseau, and Kant. There is a guiding idea is that the
principles of justice for

Bruce Jenner Research Paper
Bruce Jenner was born on October 28, 1949 in Mount Kisco, New York. Bruce was the second of
four children of William and Estelle Jenner. Bruce was diagnosed with dyslexia at a young age
and always struggled in school, yet somehow always seemed to excelled at sports. Following
high school, Bruce accepted a scholarship from Graceland College in Iowa for football. After he
suffered a knee injury it restricted him to only playing either basketball or track, he then made the
decision to switching over to running track and field. His coach then encouraged him to start
training for the 1972 Olympics. Something I found interesting was that his father William Jenner
had competed in the U.S. Army Olympics in Nuremberg, Germany, in 1945, and won a silver
medal in the 100 yard dash. When Bruce competed in the 1972 decathlon in Munich Germany,
Bruce placed third in the Olympic trials and tenth at the actual Munich Games. At the 1976
Summer Olympics in Montreal however, Bruce ended up winning a gold medal and broke a world
record, scoring over 8,000 points in the decathlon.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Comparing Apple iOS and Google Operating Systems
Android vs. iOS: Feature Comparison Introduction The intent of this analysis is to define the
differences between the Apple iOS and Google Android operating systems, in addition to
discussing the newest features for each. The Pros and Cons of each operating system are
discussed, in addition to a chart of relative market share on smartphone and tablet PCs. In addition
to relative market share, the number of application downloads will also be shown. Analysis Of
Differences Between Android And Apple iOS Mobile Operating Systems The most significant
differences between these mobile operating systems is the design philosophy of each, with Apple
choosing a closed architecture, and Google with Android, open. This design philosophy is the
catalyst of differences between Android and iOS operating systems. The next most significant
difference is Android being based on the popular open source kernel Linux while Apple built iOS
on OS X operating system (Manikas, Hansen, 1294). Additional differences include Android
offering the kernel, user interface and standard baseline applications all as open source,
configurable by developers. Another difference is the level of configurability and customization
that is supported on Android relative to iOS as exemplified by the open Application Programmer
Interface (API) structure that Google has constructed for Android (Puliyenthuruthel, et. al.). The
decision by Google to make Android an open architecture based mobile operating system has

The Cost Of Execution
Executions have been a method of punishment for many years, yet the different types of
executions have advanced in technology over the years. Every state has a different way of
executing criminals. For example, Texas follows out the execution plan by conducting death by
lethal injection. Our state law allows a jury to vote for death by lethal injection for convicted
criminals, and I would vote to change this law. Many studies have been conducted to the find the
truth about the cost of executions versus the cost of life in prison. Pro execution supporters state that
by carrying out executions thousands of tax dollars are saved. This, in fact, is not necessarily
correct. There is much research that proves that executions are far more expensive

Why I Want To Be A Special Forces Job Essay
I am writing about the occupation known as Special Forces. I am very interested in this
occupation because I love military careers, and I love the feeling of adventure. The reason i want
to be a special forces team member, is because my papa fought in Vietnam in the U.S. Air Force
but was sent back home when my Grammy was having my mom. My brother was in the U.S.
Army when he was driving a humvee down a route when the humvee in front of him was blown
up. I have wanted to be in the Militarysince i was about 6, I have always loved the military with a
passion, but I don t necessarily know why, I just feel its in my blood. When any branch of the
Military has trouble carrying out, or conducting missions, they call in the Elite teams known as
Special Forces Teams, or Spec Ops Teams. Each individual is highly trained in hand to hand
combat, scuba diving, parachuting, and surviving the outdoors alone (okcis Special Forces).
The working schedule for this occupation is very different than any other occupation in the world.

Only men can be apart of any special forces team. What might be an expected sequence for
advancement in this occupation? I personally think that advancement should come from the
amount of time and effort you have in the service, how many successful missions, and who has
the least amount of unexpected casualties. To become a leader of a Spec Ops team, you must
have some serious time put into it, and must be well decorated because they don t just let someone
who just joined the team jump straight to leader. They want someone who has a lot of experience
and knows what they are doing. It must be really awesome to know that you are call upon to do the
missions and things that other people have tried and either failed completing, too tough for them, or
just they need a team that is highly trained in that

How Has Space Exploration Changed Over The Years
Space exploration has changed drastically over the years. One of the main reasons for this is the
development of new technology. Scientists are constantly researching new topics and discussing
ways to improve spaceflight and space exploration. Not only has the design of various space crafts
changed, but the way space missions are carried out has changed. With new technology, scientists
back at NASAare able to take control of space missions to ensure the astronauts are safe.
MARS EXPLORATION:
Over the years NASA has launched multiple space crafts to Mars to gain information on the Red
Planet. Out of these voyages, only 1 out of 3 have been successful and have gotten to Mars safely.

Mayor Of Boston Campaign Speech Examples
Campaign Speech
In the concord of this ministry I suppose you all know me as a well known author but I am rather
an ordinary man with equally ordinary problems. Today we have come to a predilection that I
will win the election and become your new Mayor of Boston. However, even with my immaculate
allegiance to the Puritanic society, I have come to the conclusion that as mayor my views are for
the people, rather than myself. Consequently, I am inert in my intimation that all laws and past
punishments should be absolved and the condemned shall no longer live in the shadows. As a
believer and worshipper of God, our belief in predestination means that no matter your good will or

On the contrary, in society you have law, order, control, and the inability to control your views
on others as there are already a view or set way in observing another being. For example, if
someone was to steal an item from a home and then upon confronting the thief he admits that he
has stole it, you would most likely react with a sense of sympathy but if you were to live under
society s blanket you would have to condemn the thief no matter the situation. This is a small
example but the point is that society will no matter what, control in some way, shape, or form,
how you think, act, speak, and also how you feel, why you feel that way or even why you don t
feel a certain way. How? With order comes disorder and humans are laden with this disorderly
thought process because we are only animals and because of this I believe that everyone should
be able to have their own views on society and nature. In conclusion, if you believe in freedom of
choice, freedom of speech, or are against the current Bostonian leadership for their harsh
punishments or irrelevant tyrannical laws please come forth and vote for me. I stand by you in
this race to justice for the Bostonian people, and against those who don t, I am Josias

Cilia Is An Irreducibly Complex System
Irreducible Complexity is an idea sparked debates with scientists for generations. This is the notion
that a complex part of an organism could not have evolved over a long period of time since it
would not have contained all the key components to keep it functioning. Darwin himself knew that
his theory of evolutionwas hanging by a thread when he said, If it could be demonstrated that any
complex organism existed that could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive,
slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down. One of these irreducible complex
organisms is Cilia. Cilia are hair like structures that are usually used to move structures around

We could not just have the microtubules for they cannot not bend, it would not make any sense to
have bridges because the microtubules would still not bend, and if we only had the arms that
move the microtubules they would just break apart from each other because there were no
bonding bridges . As we can see, the cilia are an irreducibly complex system.
Another irreducibly complex system is the eye. The eye is a complex system made up of multiple
different functions. The eye consists of Cornea, the Iris, the lens, the Retina, and Optic Nerve. The
Cornea is a tough outer shell around the outside of the eye. This refracts light as it enters the eye.
The Iris controls how much light enters the pupil. The Lens focuses light into the retina. The
Retina is where the light receptors are. The Optic Nerve sends the images back to the brain where
they form an image.
So, as you can see, every one of these functions is needed to complete a functioning eye. It would
be hard to see how the eye could have done its job effectively if it evolved slowly over time. Each
one of these parts is very fragile and even the smallest altercation could destroy all

The Effects Of Social Media On Teens
What effects does social media have on on teens? After reading the book Mediated by Thomas
de Zengotita I had realized the over the too use of social media, by teens today, social media is
leading to unhealthy mental and physical side effects. It is important to publicly state these
effects in order to alert parents of what is happening to their teen. Through reading several
articles on the subject, I quickly found and examined these unfavorable side effects, by
constantly using social media people are becoming more isolated, loosing interest in their
education, relationships, and experiencing several other psychological issues. Social media has
taken over our county. According a study done by Georgia State University in 2013 around 50%
of teens used social media sites the number grew dramatically from 25% in 2009. Social media
has both good aspects and bad aspects, social media allows you to connect with friends and
family across the world, social media gives you a chance to create stronger relationships and to
build new relationships. However, the drawback from using social media is that it doesn t allow
teens to have the real human interaction that you get when you talk to someone face to face. In
addition, using social media demonstrated to spread untruthful, and sometimes personal
information. There are some discussions about social media actually being positive, speaking from
personal experiences I can see the both positive or negative effects of social media in

Big Band Swing Analysis
Big Band Swing was innovated in jazz music from 1910 to 1940 when it declined. This was a
highly influential time when mass compositions were produced and many bands sprung to the
attention of North America. From the typical band set up began the emergence of arrangers who
became crucial in leading the band. The way each piece was played had to be worked through
before it was ready to present to the band to begin practicing. Arrangers changed new compositions
and old melodies alike as they pleased, through changing the basic elements like key,
instrumentation and form. Arrangements were usually written in strophic form featuring many
repeated sections. The most popular forms were the 32 bar AABA form or the 12 bar blues. It

An arranger from the Big Band Swing era examines every part of a piece, from dynamics to
phrasing to form. Composers brought swing music to life and to the forefront of the jazz scene. The
vibrant sounds enamoured listeners across North America of vocal pieces and instrumentals
alike and brought its musicians to a larger audience. Large ensembles grew in popularity and so
the Big Band Swing era was born. Musicians loved the thick texture and full sound of a large
scale band, and it pleased composers even more so. Big Band Swing was written to be danced
to, and the live band helped that aesthetic visually and audibly. Composers like Ellington had
more instruments to compose for and more players to play independent and contrapuntal
melodies. Arrangers began to emerge in each band, to guide the many members of the band
through the composition. The improvisation loving jazz players moved slightly away from the
main melodies until they became difficult to discern. With large groups of players alternating the
track spontaneously it became jarring and individual musicians were not heard. Arrangers who
were skilled in music theory began to notate exactly what each player would play so the piece
would flow better and each voice could be heard. They also chose the form and melodic
expansion of the pieces which the band followed strictly. The themes of the arrangements were
then easily conveyed. Arrangers have an extensive knowledge of music theory and how to read
and write their own compositions as well as re writing previously released tracks. Arrangers liked
to arrange established pieces and rewrite them for their own band to play, while still retaining a
semblance of the initial recording. However they sometimes designed new arrangements for their
own songs, like Ellington who often recorded his compositions a number of times with a new

Canon Scripture And Canon Of Scripture
Canon of Scripture When we talk about Scripture, we have to discuss the source of our revelation.
In fact, without an understanding and personal standpoint/beliefs on the canon of Scripture, one is
not able to build a solid foundation in other matters regarding Scripture, including the authority of
Scripture, the inerrancy, the clarity, the necessity, and the sufficiency. Often the canon of Scripture
is a prevalent topic in the Christian faith among believers as there is a debate which books of the
Holy Bible are considered to be part of the canon. However, although there are other books that have
been added (including the Deutro Chronical Books in the Roman Catholic church), there are in fact
only 66 books in the canon of Scripture. There are 39 Old Testament books and 27 New Testament
books that are included in the canon of Scripture. While some churches (including the Roman
Catholic Church) believe that the church should determine what books are in the New Testament
canon, God is responsible for the canon of Scripture. The Old Testament canon includes the
Pentateuch Books (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy), the Historical Books
(Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra,
Nehemiah, and Ester), the Poetical Books (Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of
Solomon), and the Prophetical Books ( Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel,

Piet Mondrian s Influence On Society
Piet Mondrian was born March 7, 1872, in Amsterfoot, Netherlands. His father, Headmaster of the
town s Dutch Reformed elementary school, was a devout Calvinist. Malevich s childhood was
strict and based on the reformed Amsterfoot. In 1880, his family moved to Winterswijk, near the
German border.
In 1892, Mondrian registered at the National Academy of Art in Amsterdam. There he trained as a
realist, concentrating on visual observation and with a strict devotion to detail. Immediately, post
university, he moved around the countryside of Amsterdam to paint landscapes. In 1911 Mondrian
saw the Cubist works of Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso. He subsequently moved to Paris and

During this time he returned to working on landscapes based on the countryside. This time, he
applied his new style of straight lines and curves, with minimal color. Eventually, he moved on to
clean lines and colors without any transition, independent from content. Once the war ended,
Mondrian immediately returned to Paris.
The painting, Composition: Checkerboard, Dark Colors, made in 1919, is made up of a
rectangular canvas divided up by a grid of uniform rectangles. These shapes have been filled in
with three colors, a red, a purple, and a blue. These colors do not seem to be the traditional, colors
straight out of the tube. For example, the red is slightly orange and the purple leans more red than
blue. The colors are also placed in a seemingly random manner and each color is equally present.
Mondrian placed these colors only according to his own intuition. It is clear that he made some
alterations in color and changes are detectable in the rectangles that are filled with somewhat mixed
or tinted variations of these colors. The equal amounts of color make it so there are no places to
focus. Instead the repeating randomness creates a sense of static and movement within the painting.
Unlike Still Life with Gingerpot II, the prewar example, Composition: Checkerboard, Dark Colors
is not based on anything from the physical world. Instead of representing something, Mondrian
conceived an entirely original composition. He merely filled in this

Best Practices for Implementing Post-Adoption and Wrap...
Adoptive Families are special; they have a desire to grow their families by reaching out to children
that need homes. These families face many unique challenges, but also receive many rewards,
associated with the decision to adopt. These challenges continue for many families, through the
process of adoption, legal finalization, and for many years post adoption. The challenges are
different in many ways from those faced by biological parents. Adoptive parents not only face the
normal challenges faced from raising a child, but also the psychological issues of the child/ren
adopted. Some children placed for adoption have social, psychological, or physical problems that
many adoptive families may not be able to address. Previous research has shown an association
between post adoption services and successful adoptive placements. Post adoption services often
respond to the effects that separation, loss, and trauma can have on children and youth who have
been adopted. They can facilitate adjustment processes; promote child, youth, and family well
being; and support family preservation (Child Welfare Information Gateway, 2012). It is because of
these issues, and many others, that placement agency must consider when providing wrap around
services for families.
Wrap around post adoption services can provide extended services for families in order to address
some of the negative risk factors associated with adoption. These services can also provide future
resources for families

Katy Perry Unconditionally Analysis
Music Essay
Have you ever been listening to the radio and a really good song comes on? When this happens
to me, I pause for a moment to gather my breath before I belt out each lyric with perfect tone
deftness. One of these songs is Katy Perry s Unconditionally , and I am going to argue that is
better than her other songs, such as Waking Up in Vegas , for the following three reasons. First, the
music is more complex than her usual upbeat pop style. Second, Katy Perry sounds more mature
and beautiful in Unconditionally , but comes off as silly and girly in Waking Up in Vegas .
Finally, the overall message of Unconditionally is more deep, and is more meaningful than Waking

Noise In Chicago Airport
Sound is very much important to our daily live, but noise is not. Noise is used as an annoying
sound. Most of us every time hear the sounds in everyday life, likewise the traffic, the television,
loud music, people talking on their phone and even pets shouting in the middle of the night. A lot
of these things have become a part of the culture and hardly annoys us. Moreover, noiseis made by
big trucks, household gadgets, vehicles, motorbikes on the road, loud speakers and jet planes and

Describe The Relationship Between The Empire And The...
How are religion and culture connected? Religion and culture are super important in any society
and have major influences on one another. Religions have a huge impact on all cultures and even
societies. It is basically an outline of how we should behave in a society and culture. These
guidelines are how you should be living your day to day lives. The Maurya and Gupta empire, at
one time had a very honored leader, Asoka. Have you ever even thought about how much Asoka
actually did for the Indian empire? He grew and united his empire through pacifism. The empire
stopped their expansion, Mauryan people were very strong, but stopped conquering others for area.
They focused on staying peaceful and uniting together.
Asoka had a completely different plan on how he ran his empire. He was the most honored
emperor Maurya ever had. He went from a warrior to a worshipper of Buddhism, this changed
everything this empire had ever known. He rejected all violence, and then ruled my moral

sacrifices of animals. He sent missionaries to spread the Buddhism religion across all of India and to
Sri Lanka. He let all of his people praise their choice of religion. He brought peace and prosperity to

Technology In Ww2
Technology has made a huge difference in the world since history, and it has been a reason why
people are more social. In the old times since the 1960 s to the 1980 s many people didn t knew
where many things came from or they didn t knew how it was made or know anything about
technology. Until, in the year 1440 printing press came as a form of technologyto people that
allowed them to write news on newspapers and inform the people many things about what was
going on in the worldand how many things were created. Whenever WW2 came that was when
technology started to develop more and it helped many soldiers create bombs and destroy houses
and become more powerful. In advantage it didn t helped them enough to win the war which is a
good thing. One of the most useful transportations that was used in WW2 was the railway also
known as a train that was created in 1804. It helped transport many jews to the concentration camps

Critical Analysis Of Bartleby The Scrivener
Herman Melville s Bartleby, the Scrivener and Willa Cather s Paul s Case present the complexity
of both the experience and interpretation of loneliness by providing two antithetical lenses through
which to view the title characters isolation. The end of Bartleby, the Scrivener is consolatory in
nature, for Melville s narratorsympathetically transfigures Bartleby from a symbol of difference to
one of commonality. Melville implies that there is comfort to be sought in placing Bartleby within a
larger picture by emphasizing the narrator s sympathy for and affinity to Bartleby. Conversely, the
finalscene in Paul s Case is disconsolate, for Cather suggests that the larger design to which Paul
belongs is unsympathetic to his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alternatively, Cather s Paul s Case suggests that an objective, impersonal reading is appropriate by
portraying Paul s story as a case . The medical connotations associated with the term case distance
Paul by implying that the events presented in the narrative are unusual and are consequently under
examination. Thus, the stories differentially emphasize the requirement of a compassionate
reading, as indicated by the language of the titles. It is this incongruity in the stories presupposition
of readerly sympathy that the endings confirm and use to enhance the authorial attitudes.
The final scenes of Bartleby, the Scrivener and Paul s Case affirm the contrasting positions set
up by their titles through their opposing applications of hope, closure, and consolation. In
accordance with Melville s prescription of a sympathetic reading, he indicates that there is hope
to be found at the end of the story. Despite the amazing thickness (Melville 536) of the jail walls
within which Bartleby is kept, there is grass that, by some strange magic (Melville 536), began
growing. The image of the grass blossoming in a setting that is not conducive to germination
provides hope that something may grow out of the narrator s experience with Bartleby. In fact, the
almost talismanic quality of the blooming grass implies that there may even be hope for Bartleby,
who by nature and misfortune (Melville 537) was disposed to a pallid hopelessness (Melville 537).

Outsourcing of America Essay
Outsourcing of America
In an increasingly globalize society, it is nothing new to hear about product development and
assembly going abroad. Factory jobs have been moved to other nations for decades, and more
recently, customer call centers are being relocated to foreign nations. With the current downturn in
the economy, people are looking to at this situation in an increasingly negative way. Not all work

industries. With the growing population of college educated in foreign nations, software

The end result of the component outsourcing should yield reusable components. The next type of
outsourcing required that the customer organization simply contracts for an external group to
perform all or part of the functions of one or more of their process steps. Process component
outsourcing means that requirement development, design phase, coding phase, test phase, or the
maintenance phase is outsourced to another location. Most commonly the testing phase of the
software development process is shipping out of house. Finally there is Software Acquisition,
where all software development is sent to another location company. Outsourced work can be sent
to another company and/or another country. In this paper, we will concentrate on work that is
outsourced to another country. This may mean the company creates and staffs an office abroad, or
hire an international outsourcing firm. Which ever way companies decide to outsource the work
the motivation behind the strategy is the same.[2]
There are many perceived advantages to outsourcing software development work to other
locations. The first of these advantages is cost. When outsourcing work to foreign nations, a
company can save a great deal of money since the dollar goes further in other nations, therefore
software developers can be paid less. Even when outsourcing to local companies a

Is Walden Still Relevant
Is Walden still relevant?
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life,
and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had
not lived. This quote by Thoreau shows the way he wanted to live, deliberately, people need a
purpose it s how we work, therefore Waldenis relevant. Even though Walden is redundant and
Thoreau is believed to be hypocritical, and he didn t isolate himself as it seems in the memoir.
Walden is more relevant than ever, because the core idea is that by living frugally and naturally,
you can have more time to spend as you like with purpose. Simplicity allows us to have a richer life.

Without a purpose, live would be empty. One can t live deliberately, the way Thoreau wanted to
live. To live deliberately in the way Thoreau wrote about was to spend time simply observing
with a purpose, even if to extend one s knowledge. Life s purpose depends on the person,
Thoreau states that he doesn t expect everyone to fall into his step. Many say Walden is
redundant and Thoreau is believed to be hypocritical, and he didn t isolate himself as it seems in
the memoir. Yes, Thoreau may have been condescending, scolding, and judgmental, but these
traits don t reflect on the quality of Thoreau s writing. Reading Walden isn t for everyone, nor is
Thoreau s lifestyle. Thoreau writes as though he lived in the middle of nowhere while he truly
lived a half an hour walk from the town. Conversely this idea of isolation Thoreau portrays for
himself doesn t dispute the ideas and philosophy in Walden .
In conclusion, Walden is more relevant than ever. Thoreau lived simple unmaterialistic existence as
he stayed at Walden Pond, for he believed the material wealth lead to spiritual downfalls. The ideas
of purposeful living and the living amongst nature is still prevalent to this day. Thoreau wrote of
nature, and how he coexisted with it, learned from it. Observing nature gave Thoreau a purpose
while he was at Walden Pond. Through living simply and unmaterialistic one can live life to the

After communicating with Professor Lepage, I decided to get rid of the data of the third kind of

That is a large difference and it makes the application of the Adaboostmuch harder. So I tried to
scale the data and set the criteria by myself. If the number was larger or equal to the median of
its group, it will be directly considered +1 . If the number was smaller than the median of its

Flood In Florida Panhandle
At 6pm on April 30th, 2014, a life threatening disaster struck the Florida panhandle. At that time,

surrounding areas. But as time began to pass, it became obvious this was not an ordinary storm. As
the rain poured and the lightning struck, many people lost power and television connection, unable

severe weatherthreats. This event taught me how to prevent a disastrous situation in dire conditions
as well as the importance of being prepared.
As the rain poured down around 6pm, it became obvious that this thunderstorm was severe. My

To be a Japanese immigrant in the early 1900s was difficult but after December 7, 1941 things
only got worse. On December 7, 1941, the Japanese Imperial Navy attacked the United States

President Franklin Delano Roosevelt famously declared the attack on Pearl Harbor a day which

Nuclear energy was likewise discovered to be useful in naval tactics and in sourcing electricity. As
technology has significantly advanced and knowledge has expanded beyond measures, the realm of
nuclear engineering has indeed achieved scientific milestones. In practice of modern times, nuclear
energy is manufactured within power plants, capable of supporting an outstanding amount of
electricity (World Nuclear Association). However, this limited method of energy production is
thought to be dangerous. Nuclear engineering is certainly one complex subject and is foreign to the
majority of the world population. Within a nuclear power plant, reactors are employed to force
uranium ions to undergo the process of nuclear fission; nuclear fission is the separation of atoms,
the smallest unit of matter. This splitting of uranium ions releases energy, thus, producing usable
heat. Heat is crucial to not only nuclear energy production; rather, heat is necessary in all power
plants. Such will then become the steam that gyrates turbines. These turbines are coupled with
electromagnets which, finally, yield electricity (How Nuclear Reactors Work). One foremost flaw
of nuclear power is the consequential radioactive waste that must be monitored for a long while
following disposal. Nevertheless, as resources upon this planet are surely depleting, original forms
of energy production are mandatory. In consideration of such, nuclear power plants have proved to
be both efficient

For instance, the Watercraft Migration Theory suggests that the Native Americans migrated here
by water travel following the coastlines from Asia to the Americas. This form of travel was less

that several waves of migrations over land and sea took place resulting in different cultures of
Native Americans based upon the animals that the nations followed over several time periods
(Native American). By the time European explorers arrived in America, scholars estimate that over

I Support A Bill For Universal Pre Kindergarten Education
Community Psychology Final Exam
By: Kyle Dise
1. Would you support a bill for universal pre Kindergarten education? Draw on research discussed
in class and in your textbook to provide evidence for your perspective.
Education is an influential and impactful topic that is always a subject on the minds of the
public and for politicians. I believe that education would have an overall beneficial component
because when more people are educated in a book self and street self manner, they are more
likely to be better prepared for what the world has in store for them. So, I agree with James
Heckman, the known Nobel Price winning economist, who proposes that the earlier that kids are
able to receive proper money to obtain an education, the better return for giving back to the
community and spreading efficiency in those that they may interact with in the world (Smith,
History of U.S. policies on child care, 2015). So, even positive reinforcement, which has been
learned in various psychology courses, comes into play here (Mahoney, 2014; Smith, 2012 2015).
I understand that private preschools would be concerned with losing students because of a
universal program existing, but if they look at the big picture and ask themselves if they are
bettering mankind and the society as a whole by providing this service. However, I do see a
problem with deciding who will be paying for this universal education. I guess it depends on who is

Glacier Symphony, gender data can be determined based on the type of music. To determine the
most reliable method for interviews, the type of nonprobability sampling must... Show more content

This sampling would require that the sampling is relevant to the topic that we are trying to
research and that there is an identifiable distribution among the population being interviewed. This
would be required if you were to sample males versus females, one would have to be sure to
determine the exact distribution level. It would be important to ensure that it was calculated that
there were 45 males and 50 females and that information would have to be evaluated based on
those measures rather than an equal amount of each. This could also be said if one were to interview
different religious groups. If you were going to interview several different religious groups, it
would be imperative to ensure that you have allowed all the numbers of the groupings that you have
done.
The snowball method would be done once the interviewees went through referrals. If one were to
interview a lady by random and then she told them to go interview her friends, etc. that would be
snowball sampling. This method would not be effective when doing this particular interview as one
would almost certainly guarantee skewed information, as a group of friends is likely to have the
same answer when being asked about something that they have all attended

Gorbachev s Glasnost Essay
It will be discussing how Gorbachev s glasnost has affected the soviet union during 20th centuries.
Therefore , it will be examining the positive and negative effects of the glasnost to soviet union
during 20th centuries. Firstly, Gorbachev s glasnost have some positive effects to the soviet union
in 20th centuries. Glasnost was effected from 1985 to 1991 that glasnost means openness and it
was named for the social and political reforms that it will give more rights and freedoms upon the
soviet unionpeople that it even came openness for public affairs, press, politics, education, and
even free speech.. Also, through glasnost, he hoped it to attain a certain degree of credibility that
he would able to do the economic restructuring Perestroika. Glasnost allowed for freedom of

Firstly, the most considerable effect of glasnost in Soviet society was that it prompted an enlivening
of opinion. For the primary time, the specialist of the state was addressed that in addition to the
abundance of new materials and freedoms available, urged people to have an independent mind or
think for themselves. However, this soon got out of manage, and complaint inevitably stretched out
the areas outside of what the state permitted. From detrimental depictions of life under Stalin and
Brezhnev, writers soon utilized their recently discovered flexibility to present diatribes of Lenin,
Gorbachev, and eventually on the country s socialist foundations. Eventually, this prompting a
diminished censoring of the media, it essentially allowed authors and journalist to uncover news of
government debasement and the discouraged the condition of the Soviet Union

World History Dbq
During the 20th century different regions and countries of the extra European world Japan, China,
India, the Middle East and Latin America have been invested by profound transformations, that in
part went to aliment the tensions that later would have brought to the second world war, and in part
determined the beginning of the process of decolonization .
3.1 Independence and unity to restore national sovereignty
In the lapse of time between the two world wars, China was experiencing the so called awakening
. In 1912 the empire was abolished and the republic was announced, but it fell into the hands of a
ruling class subjected to the Japanese hegemony. Sun Yat sen, who had already played a key role
in the events of 1911 1912, after the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In foreign relations, trade had a marginal value and foreign investment both inwards and outwards
were essentially absent. One of the greatest failures of Mao s notable project Great Leap Forward
in 1958 turned out to be one of the greatest failures as it was intended to collectivize all agricultural,
industrial and service life under people s communes and militias control . The first consequence of
this measure was an economic autarky that led to one of the worst famines of the twentieth century.
Developments in international policy pushed China towards a gradual isolation and growing
conflicts. Eventually China s international political and economic relations degenerated and led to a
serious military confrontation with its main ally, the Soviet Union and fighting a border war with
India in the 60s. Isolation, political and economic, reaches its highest levels with the outbreak of the
Cultural Revolution in 1966 until 1976 .

What Does It Mean To Be A Feminism Essay
The F Word
What does it mean to be a feminist. The meaning has taken many twists and turns throughout the
various decades it s been through. Society has transposed, humiliated and belittled the true purpose
of the word Feminism. Often, when we hear the word feminist, most people associate it with the
stereotypical image of an angry protester running in her bra down the streets. Or perhaps the image
of an Ugly philosopher who is angry for not receiving male attention. Feminism still exists because
women still do not have equal rights to men, in New Zealand or globally. I would like to re
establish the rightful definition of Feminism.
When a vote was released in the united states regarding gender equality among women, 41%
voted yes and 59% voted no. However, the backlash of this vote stated that it was Unfair and
simply filled with feminists and Gender Snobs . Any woman who openly states that she is a
feminist is automatically judged and labelled as Man hater and a radical female . The real
definition of a feminist is the advocacy of women s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes
. So why is our society discriminating and judging any person who openly admits to wanting equal
rights for women? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Three in four teenage girls in New Zealand reported at least one incident of unwaned sexuall
activity. These facts have been taken from the New Zealand rape prevention government
website, created to raise awareness about how common and dangerous our society can be to
young females. Yet the media argues that these women were showing too much or simply asking
for it . This information reinforces my argument that women and men are not equal in society.
Males are also a victim of sexuall abuse, however in New zeland only one in eight males and
likeley to experience sexuall violence or abuse in their lifetime. This is less than half of the the
chances for a female

  • 2. Crystallization Synthesis Before crystallization, the unknown weighed 0.83 g, it was white, soft, and had small ball clumps almost producing a salt like appearance. About 70 mL of ethanol was used to purify the unknown. Within the final stages of fully dissolving the ethanol with the unknown, the unknown started to crystallize quickly, therefore, no ice bath was needed. After the unknown air dried, it was clear, soft, flaky, and it looked like ice. The MapReduce was implemented using C + + and has interfaces to Java and Python. The MapReduce was developed by Google but there are some open source implementations, among which stands out the Hadoop (Hadoop 2010). The Hadoop is a framework of free code in Java to run applications that manipulate large amounts of data in distributed environments. The Hadoop is composed by the file system HDFS (Hadoop Distributed File System) and a parallel execution environment. Within this environment, or better, the Hadoop framework, several subprojects can be found, such as the implementation of MapReduce, the distributed data management system called HBase, data flow language r and structure for parallel execution called Pig. The main characteristics of the Hadoop are: distributed storage systems, file partitioned into large blocks is distributed on the nodes of the system, blocks replicated to handle hardware failure and a location for temporary data. Unlike other approaches to distributed file systems, the storage and processing of HDFS is done at each node of the system. From a prince or princess to secretive toys to the smallest forms of life on earth, a hero can be found in anyone. Being attached to one or a few is entirely common. These certain characters may be the ones they look up to. Young girls often choose to look up to a princess, although, they are not what they were over 50 years ago. The very first Disney princess, Snow White, is purely a damsel in distress. The same goes for Aurora who appeared in Sleeping Beauty years later. As the years have gone on, that weaker vision of a princess has faded. The modern day princesses are anything but damsels needing to be saved by a man. Rapunzel chooses to give up her freedom in order to save Flynn Rider s life. Tiana works hard to provide for herself so she can chase her dream. Merida rejects what everyone else thinks she should be and is true to herself. Elsa only needs the love from her sister. This list will only get bigger as Disney continues to create these young female heroines. If anything, Disney is preaching to young girls everywhere to be strong in a world that may play on their faults or weaknesses. During a time strong feminist movements, Disney manages to satisfy demands by allowing the girl to be the hero. Though Snow White and Sleeping Beauty are still timeless classics, the princesses of today set a better example for young girls everywhere and that is why they seem to be more attractive than the originals. In the previous quote by Confucius, it is obvious that a teacher can impact a student s life. Moreover (TRANS), the way a teacher generates hope and confidence provide a good equity at school for the students; therefore, a good teacher spread confidence in students, which may help them to be encouraged. Maintaining the right balance of strictness and friendliness, encouraging students, and finding the right teachingmethods for each student are three of the many characteristics in becoming an inspirational teacher. First, maintaining the right balance of strictness and friendliness is one of the most impactful factors for a teacher who (AC) tries to have an appropriate relationship between students. Also, instructors are supposed to follow up with their students to understand students difficulties and their situation in life. Providing an email address, phone number, and office hours help students to keep in touch with their instructor. However, teachers need to keep the balance between friendliness and strictness; moreover, an inspirational instructor needs to set up some rules for the classroom environment. For example, the instructor may request students politely that they are not allowed to use their phone during the class because it distracts them from paying attention to the class and subject. INTRODUCTION The changing role of law and the need to relate with a transforming society and its citizens has led to a demand on decision making in political systems (Bijsterveld 2010). Due to the variance in the decision making of these systems, interest groups carry out their public affairs (PA) activities in a plethora of ways (Baumgartner 2007) as features such as type of political system, structure, accountability, dependency on interest groups, etcetera influence PA practices. This stems from the fact that issues that are significant in one political system might not be as significant in another (Lowery, Poppelaars and Berkhout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... PA is however carried out in an unbiased and harmonious way as lobbyists work hand in hand with EU officials (Woll 2006, Mahoney 2008) and other interest groups, as the EU would rather grant access to a Europeanized voice when addressing issues. With regards to choice of policies to influence, interest groups in the US are more focused on influencing legislative matters rather than regulatory policies (Baumgartner 2007, Mahoney 2008) as they seeks to influence the decisions of the congress, the court or the administrative government (Hansford 2004). The EU is a regulatory regime, therefore, organized interest groups particularly business interests prefer to lobby regulatory processes to secure their individual and collective business interests (Levy and Prakash 2003). This is done because regulatory processes affect businesses and more often than not have policy outcomes (Baumgartner 2007). The level of dependence on organized civil societies (OCS) is another feature that influences the practice of PA. EU s dependence on OCS arises from their lack of resources both financial and human, to carry out their activities. The EU commission is highly short staffed, and in need of OCS to provide technical information and act as contributory agents (Greenwood 2007). Therefore, OCS play consultative and cooperative roles particularly in the Commission as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Compare And Contrast Liberalism And Socialism These past few weeks we as a class have read and discussed so many different political ideologies including liberalism and socialism. According to John Rawls s theory of justice for a liberal society, liberalism can be seen as the interpretation of two principles, where the goal is to make the person who is worst of better on distributive shares and also to attempt to even out class barriers, school system be it public or private. Rawls s starts with the idea that citizens do not deserve to be born into a rich or a poor family, to be born naturally more or less gifted than others, to be born female or male, to be born a member of a particular racial group All social goods are to be distributed equally, unless an unequal distribution would be to everyone s advantage. Whereas socialism is similar where they want everyone to be equal, to have equal amounts, and to the rid a society of a free market. Socialism s intent is to only have those consuming producing. Any inequalities must improve everyone s situation, and especially the situation of the worst off. Justice is like a social contract in which people come together to choose the basic principles that will govern their society. Justice is the first virtue of social institutions. Injustice is simply inequalities that are not to the benefit of all. The Main idea of the theory of justice is the theory of social contract as found in say Locke, Rousseau, and Kant. This design philosophy is the catalyst of differences between Android and iOS operating systems. The next most significant difference is Android being based on the popular open source kernel Linux while Apple built iOS on OS X operating system (Manikas, Hansen, 1294). Additional differences include Android offering the kernel, user interface and standard baseline applications all as open source, configurable by developers. Another difference is the level of configurability and customization that is supported on Android relative to iOS as exemplified by the open Application Programmer Interface (API) structure that Google has constructed for Android (Puliyenthuruthel, et. al.). The eye consists of Cornea, the Iris, the lens, the Retina, and Optic Nerve. The Cornea is a tough outer shell around the outside of the eye. This refracts light as it enters the eye. The Iris controls how much light enters the pupil. The Lens focuses light into the retina. The Retina is where the light receptors are. The Optic Nerve sends the images back to the brain where they form an image. So, as you can see, every one of these functions is needed to complete a functioning eye. This was a highly influential time when mass compositions were produced and many bands sprung to the attention of North America. From the typical band set up began the emergence of arrangers who became crucial in leading the band. The way each piece was played had to be worked through before it was ready to present to the band to begin practicing. Arrangers changed new compositions and old melodies alike as they pleased, through changing the basic elements like key, instrumentation and form. Arrangements were usually written in strophic form featuring many repeated sections. The most popular forms were the 32 bar AABA form or the 12 bar blues. It became popular... Composers brought swing music to life and to the forefront of the jazz scene. The vibrant sounds enamoured listeners across North America of vocal pieces and instrumentals alike and brought its musicians to a larger audience. Large ensembles grew in popularity and so the Big Band Swing era was born. Musicians loved the thick texture and full sound of a large scale band, and it pleased composers even more so. Big Band Swing was written to be danced to, and the live band helped that aesthetic visually and audibly. Composers like Ellington had more instruments to compose for and more players to play independent and contrapuntal melodies. Arrangers began to emerge in each band, to guide the many members of the band through the composition. The improvisation loving jazz players moved slightly away from the main melodies until they became difficult to discern. With large groups of players alternating the track spontaneously it became jarring and individual musicians were not heard. Arrangers who were skilled in music theory began to notate exactly what each player would play so the piece would flow better and each voice could be heard. They also chose the form and melodic expansion of the pieces which the band followed strictly. The themes of the arrangements were then easily conveyed. Arrangers have an extensive knowledge of music theory and how to read and write their own compositions as well as re writing previously released tracks. In fact, without an understanding and personal standpoint/beliefs on the canon of Scripture, one is not able to build a solid foundation in other matters regarding Scripture, including the authority of Scripture, the inerrancy, the clarity, the necessity, and the sufficiency. Often the canon of Scripture is a prevalent topic in the Christian faith among believers as there is a debate which books of the Holy Bible are considered to be part of the canon. However, although there are other books that have been added (including the Deutro Chronical Books in the Roman Catholic church), there are in fact only 66 books in the canon of Scripture. The painting, Composition: Checkerboard, Dark Colors, made in 1919, is made up of a rectangular canvas divided up by a grid of uniform rectangles. For example, the red is slightly orange and the purple leans more red than blue. The colors are also placed in a seemingly random manner and each color is equally present. Mondrian placed these colors only according to his own intuition. These families face many unique challenges, but also receive many rewards, associated with the decision to adopt. These challenges continue for many families, through the process of adoption, legal finalization, and for many years post adoption. The challenges are different in many ways from those faced by biological parents. Adoptive parents not only face the normal challenges faced from raising a child, but also the psychological issues of the child/ren adopted. Some children placed for adoption have social, psychological, or physical problems that many adoptive families may not be able to address. Previous research has shown an association between post adoption services and successful adoptive placements. Post adoption services often respond to the effects that separation, loss, and trauma can have on children and youth who have been adopted. They can facilitate adjustment processes; promote child, youth, and family well being; and support family preservation (Child Welfare Information Gateway, 2012). Critical Analysis Of Bartleby The Scrivener Herman Melville s Bartleby, the Scrivener and Willa Cather s Paul s Case present the complexity of both the experience and interpretation of loneliness by providing two antithetical lenses through which to view the title characters isolation. The end of Bartleby, the Scrivener is consolatory in nature, for Melville s narratorsympathetically transfigures Bartleby from a symbol of difference to one of commonality. Melville implies that there is comfort to be sought in placing Bartleby within a larger picture by emphasizing the narrator s sympathy for and affinity to Bartleby. Alternatively, Cather s Paul s Case suggests that an objective, impersonal reading is appropriate by portraying Paul s story as a case . The medical connotations associated with the term case distance Paul by implying that the events presented in the narrative are unusual and are consequently under examination. Thus, the stories differentially emphasize the requirement of a compassionate reading, as indicated by the language of the titles. It is this incongruity in the stories presupposition of readerly sympathy that the endings confirm and use to enhance the authorial attitudes. The final scenes of Bartleby, the Scrivener and Paul s Case affirm the contrasting positions set up by their titles through their opposing applications of hope, closure, and consolation. In accordance with Melville s prescription of a sympathetic reading, he indicates that there is hope to be found at the end of the story. Despite the amazing thickness (Melville 536) of the jail walls within which Bartleby is kept, there is grass that, by some strange magic (Melville 536), began growing. The image of the grass blossoming in a setting that is not conducive to germination provides hope that something may grow out of the narrator s experience with Bartleby. As technology has significantly advanced and knowledge has expanded beyond measures, the realm of nuclear engineering has indeed achieved scientific milestones. In practice of modern times, nuclear energy is manufactured within power plants, capable of supporting an outstanding amount of electricity (World Nuclear Association). However, this limited method of energy production is thought to be dangerous. Nuclear engineering is certainly one complex subject and is foreign to the majority of the world population. Within a nuclear power plant, reactors are employed to force uranium ions to undergo the process of nuclear fission; nuclear fission is the separation of atoms, the smallest unit of matter. This splitting of uranium ions releases energy, thus, producing usable heat. Heat is crucial to not only nuclear energy production; rather, heat is necessary in all power plants. Such will then become the steam that gyrates turbines. These turbines are coupled with electromagnets which, finally, yield electricity (How Nuclear Reactors Work). One foremost flaw of nuclear power is the consequential radioactive waste that must be monitored for a long while following disposal. I believe that education would have an overall beneficial component because when more people are educated in a book self and street self manner, they are more likely to be better prepared for what the world has in store for them.
