The Australian Population Is Fast Becoming An Aging Society
1. Executive Summary
This report provides a cultural responsiveness framework for delivering culturally responsive services and safe practice in aged
care. This report is written for Southern Cross Care in insuring clients from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD)
backgrounds receive services that are culturally responsive and demonstrate safe practice. This report will focus on older Chinese
immigrants who will be accessing aged care services with Southern Cross Care.
1.1 Research Context
Research has shown that the Australian population is fast becoming an aging society. A huge proportion of older people accounting
for this aging society were born overseas. According to Australian Bureau of Statistics in 2011, 36% of ... Show more content on

With this continued growth in numbers there is a vital need for culturally competent aged care in Australia.
Chinese immigrants have adapted into Australia, but still adhere to their values, cultures, and traditions. Often practitioners lack the
cultural competence or awareness and fail to provide suitable care for their clients. With not much in way of research and
practitioners lack of cultural competence there leaves gaps for Chinese immigrants accessing aged care services. Gaps in
communication barriers and cultural misunderstandings are two areas that could take away from clients receiving culturally
appropriate aged care.
1.3 List of Recommendation:
Ethnicity training be mandatory for Southern Cross Care staff
Use of profession interpreter
Use of language cue card
Purpose of Cultural Competencies
Understanding cultural differences improves the effectiveness of the treatment a client receives. Cultural competency has a positive
effect on client care delivery by enabling practitioners to deliver services that are respectful of and responsive to the health beliefs,
practices and cultural and linguistic needs of diverse clients (National Institute of Health, 2015).
Mather Life Ways (n.d) detail traits of an organization that are trained in cultural competency:
Recognize common barriers to cultural understanding among clients
Interpret and respond effectively to verbal and nonverbal communication cues

The Crusades Impact
From 1095 CE to 1291 CE, there was a total of nine Crusades that spanned from Western Europe to the Middle East. The Crusades
were military campaigns fought between the Christians and the Muslims, and their justification was to obtain control of Jerusalem:
the Holy Land. The impact of the Crusades can still be seen today, as they were an important factor in the modernization of Western
Europe s civilization. The Crusades affected many parts of the world, including the people who fought in these battles and the
others who were at home. These wars directly affected the role of the Church in Europe, since the Crusades were fought in the
name of Christ and they provided the wealth and power the church gained as a product of the Crusades. Not only ... Show more

The Christians who fought in the Crusades learned better and newer ways of doing mundane day to day things from the Muslims,
who had more advanced methods of doing what the Europeans had been doing more simply for centuries. For example, in
Jerusalem, Muslim doctors discovered painkillers, which were used for when the doctors would perform amputations, so the
operation would be relatively painless for the patient. This was more sophisticated than the Europeans way of amputating, which
was to hack off the limb while holding down the patient, with no drugs to kill the pain. The Muslim way of performing surgery was
quickly adopted by the Europeans after the Crusades. Before the wars, Christians were known for being dirty and relatively smelly.
That changed after the Holy Wars; Muslims wash very often due to religious practices, and the Christians adopted their methods of
washing and became accustomed to using soap to bathe every day. The crusaders who returned home brought soap for others to
utilize. They then were able to emulate and create their own soap, and they discovered that cleanliness would help stop common
diseases from being spread as quickly and easily throughout the

The Dutch Republic
Introduction The Dutch republic came to be when part of the Netherlands separated from Spanish rule in 1579 and gained
international recognition in 1648. It was characterized by its high population density (which is a continuity to this day), and its
early, high level of urbanization. From the 16th to 18th centuries, the Dutch rose to power comparable to even Britain and France.
This was also the period of time when world trade flourished and linked continents, acquiring the name global trade. In fact, the
Dutch republic experienced such growth and improvement that the 17th century was the Dutch golden age. During the golden age,
trade, military, art, and science flourished. This all led to a domination in trade, production of ships, etc.
Western Europe After the split of the Roman Empire, the western half fell as the east prospered. Then in the medieval period, the
catholic western European states emerged stronger than ever, causing the distinction between roman catholic/protestant vs eastern
orthodox in Europe. Western Europe was made up of competitive states that came to play major roles. The Dutch republic managed
to become largely influential and powerful through trade. As previously mentioned, competitiveness was and still is a characteristic
of Western Europe. Since the Dutch focused on ship building to support the trade they were beginning to be a part of.
Through this time period emerged the Columbian exchange and some European states also took an interest

The Temperance Movement Of The Early 1900 S
During the early 1900 s America was in its Gilded Age . The economy was booming and everyone seemed to be happy from the
outside. But, there were many problems going on in the United States. In the factories where most people worked there were
corrupt bosses, the people were overworked and there was child labor. The only salvation that these people had was to drink. The
workers drank to calm down and feel no pain. But this destroyed families because they were almost constantly drunk. They would
sometimes lose their only job because of the drinking. So, a lot of religious groups and many women started the temperance
movement. There have been many people who have supported temperance in the past and it dates all the way back to when the
Bible was written. Eventually the 18th Amendment was passed on January 26th 1919. This amendment was known as the Noble
Experiment . This turned out to be a complete failure. This law was impossible to enforce because of the corrupt police and there
was alcohol almost everywhere. In this paper I will go over alcohol use, attempts to fight alcohol abuse, and the rise in crime due to
the money that could be made in corruption.
Alcohol has been around for ages. There is evidence of alcohol in China in 7,000 b.c. The average amount of calories in a glass of
beer is 150 calories, 125 calories for a glass of wine, and 100 calories for liquor. Fermented beverages have been around for
thousands of years. They existed in early Egyptian

Sociological Analysis Of Concrete Angel
Sociology Analysis over Concrete Angel
Zachary Gosnell
Southeast Missouri State University
SO 102 October 12, 2017
Abstract
The lyrics of Concrete Angel has meaning to it. The lyrics focus on child abuse. Child abuse is a problem that may children all over
the world face. Child abuse can be in the form of verbal and/or physical abuse, bullying, and so on. The lyrics shows us how the
obvious signs of abuse can be seen but bystanders choose to ignore what is going on. The lyrics of Concrete Angel relates to
sociology in many ways. The lyrics relate to three perspectives of sociology. Those perspectives are conflict, interactionism, and
functionalism. The main focus of this paper is the characterization portraying the societal issue of child abuse.
Introduction
The song I chose to do my analysis on is Concrete Angel written by Stephanie Kay Bentley and Rob Crosby and sung by Martina
McBride. I felt the song has meaning and I would be able to analysis it. The message of the song exudes to it listener to child abuse,
or any relating form of abuse. The lyrics talk about how victims of abuse show obvious signs of physical or mental harm that
bystanders choose to ignore. Concrete Angel is about a little girl who is trapped in a life of turmoil. The song describes her short
innocent life. Her life is lived in vein as neglect and abuse plagues her. The adults around her seem to be aware of her anguish but
like most people they chose to not get

Cyberstalking Case
Investigating a cyberstalking case presents a unique set of challenges. Evidence can be found in digital form, so it can be protected
from being lost or damaged, or the complete opposite can be true and it can be easily lost, damaged, corrupted, or rendered
inadmissible in court due to flawed forensic gathering practices. It is important, with cases involving digital media that the same
procedures be followed when it comes to collecting evidence. Chain of custody documentation must still be kept. The right
software must be used to directly copy any hardware seized or searched for investigative purposes. The first step in a cyberstalking
investigation, just like most other criminal investigations, involves interviewing the victim. Even if the ... Show more content on

Obtain copies of e mails, text messages, social network posts, etc. These may be able to be trace back to the sender, and can also
help lead investigator to the source of the connection between victim and stalker. If investigators can find out why or how the
victim was chosen, it may be possible to find more victims, who have yet to report the problem, or it could also vastly narrow down
the search for suspects. It may be possible to trace e mail messages by their IP address, and a suspect ISP can be subpoenaed to
provide records of their internet history. Text messages and Phone calls are time stamped and a mobile phone or landline service
provider can be subpoenaed for call histories and text logs. If the stalker is determined to avoid detection, of course there are steps
they can take to counteract these types of investigations. The suspect can use VPNs or public Wi Fi hotspots to send e mails,
disposable burner phones for texts, or anonymous computer programs capable of sending texts and attachments. This also makes
finding the connection to the victim as well as the probable cause for the harassing behavior so vital, it can be the main thing that
gets the suspect caught. Even if all those above steps are taken to avoid detection, investigators would still be able to gather
evidence if the suspect was under surveillance or his internet communication was being monitored and

Teaching And Learning At The City Of Athens Essay
Every school has its own story to tell. The context in which teaching and learning takes place influences the processes and
procedures by which the school makes decisions around curriculum, instruction, and assessment. The context also impacts the way
a school stays faithful to its vision. Many factors contribute to the overall narrative such as an identification of stakeholders, a
description of stakeholder engagement, the trends and issues affecting the school, and the kinds of programs and services that a
school implements to support student learning. The purpose of the Executive Summary (ES) is to provide a school with an
opportunity to describe in narrative form the strengths and challenges it encounters. By doing so, the public and members of the
school community will have a more complete picture of how the school perceives itself and the process of self reflection for
continuous improvement. This summary is structured for the school to reflect on how it provides teaching and learning on a day to
day basis. The city of Athens is located in Limestone County in North Alabama surrounded by the nearby cities of Madison,
Huntsville, Decatur, and Florence. The city of Athens is comprised of an approximate population of 23,000 people. The
demographic makeup of Athens is 77% White, 17% Black, 4% Hispanic, and 2% other races (Asian, American Indian, Pacific
Islander, or two or more races). According to the 2010 Census, the median income for a household in the city of Athens is

The term ``case method has come to refer to a wide range of teaching styles and objectives that can be adopted within the use of
case studies for teaching (Dooley and Skinner, 1977). It has been proposed that the case method can be used to: . gain illustration of
particular points, issues or managerial principles; . provide managers with a neutral situation in which they are free to explore
problems (because they are not their own); . relate theory to practice; . confront the complexities of specific situations; . develop
analysis and synthesis; . develop self analysis, attitudes, confidence, responsibility; . develop interpersonal skills, communication
and listening; and . develop judgement and wisdom and enliven teaching. The method may gain the student s intellectual and
emotional involvement and assist the long term retention of understanding and bring realism into instructional settings (Romm and
Mahler, 1991; Osigweh, 1989; Smith, 1987; Christensen and Hansen, 1987; Dooley and Skinner, 1977). The case method is not
without its limitations. Cases may be limited in the extent to which they present the realities of an organization. Yin (1989)
comments that a case need not reflect a complete or accurate rendition of actual events; its purpose is to establish a framework for
discussion among students. Similarly Towl (1969) describing case writing at Harvard Business School
emphasises the need for a

Essay On A Man For All Seasons And Hamlet
Compare A Man for All Seasons and Hamlet Essay The literary texts A Man for All Seasons and Hamlet both have the same
underlying theme of one s ability to make decisions in a world of corruption. Robert Bolt criticizes society by commenting on the
corruption in the political and religious systems, which are supposed to be tools to provide justice for all individuals. Whereas,
Hamlet is play that discusses how the protagonist is unable to follow through with his decisions to avenge his father s murder.
Throughout these works, the authors illustrate, through a variety of characters the ability of making decisions when society s
political and religious systems are corrupt. In this classic piece of literature, the main characters depict the ... Show more content on

During both the Elizabethan Era and King Henry s reign the political and religious systems of society were corrupt. In the play
Hamlet, there is clear evidence of corruption and weakening of the state under Claudius s rule. Something is rotten in the state of
Denmark depicts Shakespeare s intellectual ability of not only reflecting political and religious norms, but also of commenting on
how political and religious power can lead to corruption within humanity. In A Man for All Seasons, the people of England let
society and political leaders dictate their morals and values. The characters Wolsey, Cromwell, and the Pope are political/religious
leaders that forsake their conscience, which means becoming corrupted. During these era s, the Common Man followed their Kings
and Queens and if the political officials of England are corrupted, society will follow, leading to a route of destruction. Therefore,
this affects how individuals make decisions according to society s political and religious norms because if society s norms become
corrupted then so do the decisions made by individuals. For example, in A Man for All Seasons, the Common Man liked and
supported Thomas More however, they decided to remain silent, which is why they are also indirectly responsible for More s death.
This displays that in a corrupted society individuals are likely to make decisions that are unknowingly corrupt just to fit society s

Okonkwo was well known through out the nine villages because of his achievements in the tribe. Okonkwo had a great fear of

His wives, especially the youngest, lived in perpetual fear of his fiery temper, and so did his little children, (quoted on page 10).
This quote explains directly how strictly he ruled his household and his family. He was a man who would lose his temper over
small things, even if it was not a legitimate reason such as the dead banana tree incident in the following quote (page 28), As a
matter of fact the tree was very much alive. Okonkwo s second wife had merely cut a few leaves off it to wrap some food, and she
said so. Without further argument Okonkwo gave her a sound beating and left her and her only daughter weeping. This example
shows just how disciplinary he was in his household.
Okonkwo was a man of war; he was a great wrestler, however, despite his fame for wrestling he had won titles for inter tribal wars

As we continue to grow and have a greater impact on the Earth s systems, it is essential that we address our role and relationship

Aging Affects The Appetite And Food Intake
Abstract Aging affects the appetite and food intake of a person resulting in a gradual decreasing in the body weight. Moreover,
slower stomach emptying makes the elderly to experience increased fullness or satiation all the time. The alteration of gut peptides,
such as cholecystokinin, insulin, GLP 1 and Peptide YY during aging modifies satiation and satiety. Moreover, the study collected
data from seven scholarly reviewed medical journals following well defined criteria: must use scholarly reviewed journals written
English and the journals had to align with the topic under discussion. It demonstrated the differences in satiety and satiation related
to age and their unique responses to gut hormones. Moreover, out of the seven articles, four were controlled trials while three of
them included cohort studies. The keywords used during the study were aging, food intake, regulate, satiety and satiation. Other
studies used in the search demonstrated major strengths, such as exhibiting the differences in satiety and satiation related to age and
their unique responses to the gut hormones. They also showed the likelihood for the manipulation of nutritional factors like the
meal size, taste, and variety for inhibiting weight gain or weight loss through compensatory alterations in energy ingestion. The
major limitation of the study included their inability to reflect the general population because the elderly subjects represented

Policy Review Essay
Introduction
A policy is defined as a definite course or method of action selected from among alternatives and in light of given conditions to
guide and determine present and future decisions (Miriam Webster, para. 1). Policies are used in acute settings as operational tools
that give support and direction to staff, patients and the public (Collins Patel, 2009, p.42). In nursing practice, it is important to
understand these different policies as they influence our nursing practice every day. Ballarat Health Services (2011) developed a

The Epic Of Beowulf As An Epic Hero
The whole earth is the tomb of heroic men and their story is not given only on stone over their clay but abides everywhere without
visible symbol woven into the stuff of other men s lives, said Perculus (PR). You re born, you live a little, and then you die. There is
no simpler way to sum up life. Often times this is done through oral tales, paintings, and various other ways. For those whose lives
were truly something great, something memorable, their stories are transcripted into writings. Whether these are simple biographies
or symbolic fictional works, stories are often based on someone greater than the writer. These epic heros are protagonists that fulfill
their potential of greatness through using their bravery, strength and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think they should be done because you ought to do them. In this story Arthur believed that people should not help others because
they are capable of doing so, but rather because it s the right thing to do. In the interpretation of the classic King Arthur story,
Arthur focused primarily on the lack of humility in the world and how he (along with Merlyn) can fix it. In a more classic take on
the King Arthur story, Le Morte d Arthur offers a better insight on the physical traits that makes one an epic hero. Upon the failure
of a treaty between the Arthur and Mordred, an epic battle took place that would decide the fate of the Christian both men stood
upon. During this battle Arthur bravely led his men into battle, single handedly defeating dozens of Mordred s knights. To conclude
the battle Arthur fought Mordred one on one, defeating him with a deadly blow to the chest beneath Mordred s shield. Though
Arthur was gravely wounded, he regretted nothing as he knew what he had done would better future generations of people. Evil had
been vanquished and Arthur was truly an epic hero. A hero is someone who, in spite of weakness, doubt or not always knowing the
answers, goes ahead and overcomes anyway, said Christopher Reeve (CR). A countless number of people wish to be remembered
upon their death, however, very few are remembered much past their death. Those who are though often did an enormous amount

Compare And Contrast Renaissance Music And Medieval Music
The Medieval period began in 500 A.D. and ended in 1450 A.D. During this time in particular, the Catholic Church had significant
influence on how music was used and created. Sacred music, for example, was most prevalent because of this. Due to the religious
nature of this period, music in the church had to adhere to very specific regulations, some of which included prayers such as
plainchants or Gregorian chants. A single melody without harmony, or one musical part sung together in unison, is called a
Monophonic melody, which was sung primarily by monks. Some time later, around 900 A.D., the using of two melodic lines was
permitted by the church, this music was called organum. A low, continuous note called a drone, was sung at the same time as the
main melody. The two melodies were often moving in contrasting motion to each other. By the Late Medieval period, 1100 A.D.,
the music of the church had shifted from monophonic to more polyphonic, often two or more varying parts. The Renaissance
period, from 1450 A.D. to 1600 A.D., comprised of two main types of music, sacred and secular. In comparison with the Medieval
period, where music was usually reserved for church purposes, the Renaissance period allowed music to expand beyond the church
into upper aristocratic society. Sacred music included motets and mass, while secular included madrigals, instrumental and dance
music. Motets initially came about during the late Medieval period, but grew sizably during the Renaissance,

Our Identity And Belonging Essay
We are driven by five genetic needs: survival, love and belonging, power, freedom, and fun, although not everyone gets a chance to
experience these things. Belongingness is the human emotional need to be an accepted member of a group. Whether it is family,
friends, co workers, or a sports team, humans have an inherent desire to belong and be an important part of something greater than
them. The need to belong is the need to give and receive affection from others.
When I first cut my hair I felt like I was doing something for myself, doing something that I wanted. Although after a while of
being at school and seeing everyone else look at me in confusion and asking if I was a girl or a boy, I soon felt like I did not belong.

Maybe the media is to blame, with all these skinny models on magazines that haven t changed. Maybe it s because humans become
comfortable with the familiar, and there seems to be a safe pattern of life related with it. The doubt that comes with a new order
brings discomfort. It is human nature to seek comfort and security. You ve changed , after all this time of having long hair perhaps
is good to change ourselves a little and change society s opinion on belonging, but in my perspective of change, I have not
belonged. After I had realised that people around me were judging my choices and making me into someone I was not, I felt the
need to find something that will make me belong, something or someone that will make me feel happiness again. Unfortunately I
still don t know what makes me happy to this day due to metal illnesses, but there are little things that make me feel comfortable
such as my favourite movies and recently I found a new comfort in books. My mum still tells me that I d always belong to her no

Stock Characters In Tartuffe
A minor character contributes heavily in a play, particularly by revealing information or giving additional insight about major
characters. Tartuffe, by Molière, is a French satire which is over exaggerated and critical towards the upper class. It also ridicules
hypocrisy and the upper class. Molière s unique choice of using stock characters contributes to the technical development of the
work. Specifically, Dorine holds the role of the Zanni, the servant who provides comedic relief. Madame Pernelle fits the category
of the Pantalone because despite being a woman, she is wealthy and an upperclassman, meaning she s at the top of the social
pyramid. Orgon fits into the category of the Dottore, as he is the head of the household and also at the top of the social pyramid.

In general, history books recite facts and figures to create censored generalizations about historical events, including the Holocaust.
Dramatizations of these tragedies tend to use detailed accounts of those effected by the catastrophe to create a somewhat accurate
storyline, which often elicits some form of an emotional response from the viewers/readers. These accounts add an extra level of
detail to a once nameless, faceless fact or figure. It allows the reader/viewer to visualize what was occurring at the time. They start
to think what they would do, how they would feel or react if they were in that particular situation and that is when the emotions
start to form inside the reader/viewer. Dramas allow the readers/viewers to connect more with the material and hopefully find

Spanking A Child Essay
The textbook defines physical child abuse as, any act that results in a nonaccidental physical injury by a person who has care,
custody, or control of a child (p.157). Many people disagree on what the term child abuse means. Yelling at a child or spanking a
child is not considered child abuse based on this definition. However it is possible that spanking a child can cause injury, but most
medical and legal authorities will not consider it child abuse unless the force is sufficient to leave marks. A number of parents spank
their children in order to teach them discipline when they do not listen or act out, but because of the controversial question of
whether or not spanking is child abuse most parents have sought other forms of discipline. ... Show more content on

physical force is used and intended to cause some degree of pain or discomfort, however light. Most involves hitting ( smacking ,

The Goal, By Eliyahu M.
The Goal, written by Eliyahu M. Goldratt, displays the life of a plant manager who is told that if he is not able to shift the
manufacturing plant within a constrained time frame to make money, the factory will shut down. What s even more interesting
about the novel is that it is based on the conflicts and advances of a mere manager in a small company located in a small town. By
introducing and successfully implementing the Theory of Constraints , this manager was able to make this small company that was
on the verge of shutting down to have one of the most productive plants thus making the factory more successful at the end. Alex
Rogo, plant manager at UniCo, is told that he needs to bring the plant around in three months and make it profitable. Battling
between his personal life problems (marriage) and problems at work, Alex just couldn t seem to make it work initially. He targets
all of the wrong factors like employing the right people and assuring he has the latest technology. This is demonstrated clearly when
Mr. Bill Peach, division vice president, discusses about a seven week overdue order that needed to be shipped out that very same
day. The first foul is seen when Mr. Rogo handled the situation by forcing all the employees to work over time that night. Although
that order got shipped out that night, it is not an efficient or stable method to take care of the problem. This is when Jonah, Alex s

Labeling Of Genetically Engineered Food
Labeling Genetically Engineered Foods
A popular debate in the United States that s been ongoing since 1990, is the labeling on Genetically Modified or Engineered foods
otherwise known as GMO s. Genetically engineered food is an unnatural process of plant or meat products. These two products
have had their DNA artificially altered in a laboratory by genes from other plants, animals, viruses, or bacteria to produce foreign
genes in food. Monsanto, an agriculture company, claims the reason behind this experimental genetic alteration was said to produce
a multiplying supply to feed the world. Nevertheless, Americans are in a debate with the government to label genetically engineered
food due to several reasons. Labeling genetically engineered ingredients will help consumers determine which products they decide
to consume. The FDA published a policy that states they do not require labeling of GMO foods. Americans and people all over the
world feel that they should have the right to know what they are purchasing and consuming due to a list of health, environmental,
ethical, and religious reasons.
People all over the world have a right to know what they are purchasing and consuming. The US government thinks otherwise.
There have been no conclusive studies that show that genetically modified foods are safe to consume. The US Food and Drug
Administration does not think it s necessary to require safety studies for genetically engineered foods. The article About GE Food

  • 4. The Crusades Impact From 1095 CE to 1291 CE, there was a total of nine Crusades that spanned from Western Europe to the Middle East. The Crusades were military campaigns fought between the Christians and the Muslims, and their justification was to obtain control of Jerusalem: the Holy Land. The impact of the Crusades can still be seen today, as they were an important factor in the modernization of Western Europe s civilization. The Crusades affected many parts of the world, including the people who fought in these battles and the others who were at home. These wars directly affected the role of the Church in Europe, since the Crusades were fought in the name of Christ and they provided the wealth and power the church gained as a product of the Crusades. Not only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Christians who fought in the Crusades learned better and newer ways of doing mundane day to day things from the Muslims, who had more advanced methods of doing what the Europeans had been doing more simply for centuries. For example, in Jerusalem, Muslim doctors discovered painkillers, which were used for when the doctors would perform amputations, so the operation would be relatively painless for the patient. This was more sophisticated than the Europeans way of amputating, which was to hack off the limb while holding down the patient, with no drugs to kill the pain. The Muslim way of performing surgery was quickly adopted by the Europeans after the Crusades. Before the wars, Christians were known for being dirty and relatively smelly. That changed after the Holy Wars; Muslims wash very often due to religious practices, and the Christians adopted their methods of washing and became accustomed to using soap to bathe every day. The crusaders who returned home brought soap for others to utilize. They then were able to emulate and create their own soap, and they discovered that cleanliness would help stop common diseases from being spread as quickly and easily throughout the ... • 5. The Dutch Republic Introduction The Dutch republic came to be when part of the Netherlands separated from Spanish rule in 1579 and gained international recognition in 1648. It was characterized by its high population density (which is a continuity to this day), and its early, high level of urbanization. From the 16th to 18th centuries, the Dutch rose to power comparable to even Britain and France. This was also the period of time when world trade flourished and linked continents, acquiring the name global trade. In fact, the Dutch republic experienced such growth and improvement that the 17th century was the Dutch golden age. During the golden age, trade, military, art, and science flourished. This all led to a domination in trade, production of ships, etc. Western Europe After the split of the Roman Empire, the western half fell as the east prospered. Then in the medieval period, the catholic western European states emerged stronger than ever, causing the distinction between roman catholic/protestant vs eastern orthodox in Europe. Western Europe was made up of competitive states that came to play major roles. The Dutch republic managed to become largely influential and powerful through trade. As previously mentioned, competitiveness was and still is a characteristic of Western Europe. Since the Dutch focused on ship building to support the trade they were beginning to be a part of. Through this time period emerged the Columbian exchange and some European states also took an interest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Temperance Movement Of The Early 1900 S During the early 1900 s America was in its Gilded Age . The economy was booming and everyone seemed to be happy from the outside. But, there were many problems going on in the United States. In the factories where most people worked there were corrupt bosses, the people were overworked and there was child labor. The only salvation that these people had was to drink. The workers drank to calm down and feel no pain. But this destroyed families because they were almost constantly drunk. They would sometimes lose their only job because of the drinking. So, a lot of religious groups and many women started the temperance movement. There have been many people who have supported temperance in the past and it dates all the way back to when the Bible was written. Eventually the 18th Amendment was passed on January 26th 1919. This amendment was known as the Noble Experiment . This turned out to be a complete failure. This law was impossible to enforce because of the corrupt police and there was alcohol almost everywhere. In this paper I will go over alcohol use, attempts to fight alcohol abuse, and the rise in crime due to the money that could be made in corruption. Alcohol has been around for ages. There is evidence of alcohol in China in 7,000 b.c. The average amount of calories in a glass of beer is 150 calories, 125 calories for a glass of wine, and 100 calories for liquor. Fermented beverages have been around for thousands of years. They existed in early Egyptian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Evidence can be found in digital form, so it can be protected from being lost or damaged, or the complete opposite can be true and it can be easily lost, damaged, corrupted, or rendered inadmissible in court due to flawed forensic gathering practices. It is important, with cases involving digital media that the same procedures be followed when it comes to collecting evidence. Chain of custody documentation must still be kept. The right software must be used to directly copy any hardware seized or searched for investigative purposes. If investigators can find out why or how the victim was chosen, it may be possible to find more victims, who have yet to report the problem, or it could also vastly narrow down the search for suspects. It may be possible to trace e mail messages by their IP address, and a suspect ISP can be subpoenaed to provide records of their internet history. Text messages and Phone calls are time stamped and a mobile phone or landline service provider can be subpoenaed for call histories and text logs. If the stalker is determined to avoid detection, of course there are steps they can take to counteract these types of investigations. The suspect can use VPNs or public Wi Fi hotspots to send e mails, disposable burner phones for texts, or anonymous computer programs capable of sending texts and attachments. This also makes finding the connection to the victim as well as the probable cause for the harassing behavior so vital, it can be the main thing that gets the suspect caught. • 9. Teaching And Learning At The City Of Athens Essay Every school has its own story to tell. The context in which teaching and learning takes place influences the processes and procedures by which the school makes decisions around curriculum, instruction, and assessment. The context also impacts the way a school stays faithful to its vision. Many factors contribute to the overall narrative such as an identification of stakeholders, a description of stakeholder engagement, the trends and issues affecting the school, and the kinds of programs and services that a school implements to support student learning. The purpose of the Executive Summary (ES) is to provide a school with an opportunity to describe in narrative form the strengths and challenges it encounters. By doing so, the public and members of the school community will have a more complete picture of how the school perceives itself and the process of self reflection for continuous improvement. This summary is structured for the school to reflect on how it provides teaching and learning on a day to day basis. The city of Athens is located in Limestone County in North Alabama surrounded by the nearby cities of Madison, Huntsville, Decatur, and Florence. The city of Athens is comprised of an approximate population of 23,000 people. The demographic makeup of Athens is 77% White, 17% Black, 4% Hispanic, and 2% other races (Asian, American Indian, Pacific Islander, or two or more races). The term ``case method has come to refer to a wide range of teaching styles and objectives that can be adopted within the use of case studies for teaching (Dooley and Skinner, 1977). It has been proposed that the case method can be used to: . gain illustration of particular points, issues or managerial principles; . provide managers with a neutral situation in which they are free to explore problems (because they are not their own); . relate theory to practice; . confront the complexities of specific situations; . develop analysis and synthesis; . develop self analysis, attitudes, confidence, responsibility; . develop interpersonal skills, communication and listening; and . develop judgement and wisdom and enliven teaching. The method may gain the student s intellectual and emotional involvement and assist the long term retention of understanding and bring realism into instructional settings (Romm and Mahler, 1991; Osigweh, 1989; Smith, 1987; Christensen and Hansen, 1987; Dooley and Skinner, 1977). The case method is not without its limitations. Cases may be limited in the extent to which they present the realities of an organization. Yin (1989) comments that a case need not reflect a complete or accurate rendition of actual events; its purpose is to establish a framework for discussion among students. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark depicts Shakespeare s intellectual ability of not only reflecting political and religious norms, but also of commenting on how political and religious power can lead to corruption within humanity. In A Man for All Seasons, the people of England let society and political leaders dictate their morals and values. The characters Wolsey, Cromwell, and the Pope are political/religious leaders that forsake their conscience, which means becoming corrupted. During these era s, the Common Man followed their Kings and Queens and if the political officials of England are corrupted, society will follow, leading to a route of destruction. Therefore, this affects how individuals make decisions according to society s political and religious norms because if society s norms become corrupted then so do the decisions made by individuals. For example, in A Man for All Seasons, the Common Man liked and supported Thomas More however, they decided to remain silent, which is why they are also indirectly responsible for More s death. This displays that in a corrupted society individuals are likely to make decisions that are unknowingly corrupt just to fit society s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Compare And Contrast Renaissance Music And Medieval Music The Medieval period began in 500 A.D. and ended in 1450 A.D. During this time in particular, the Catholic Church had significant influence on how music was used and created. Sacred music, for example, was most prevalent because of this. Due to the religious nature of this period, music in the church had to adhere to very specific regulations, some of which included prayers such as plainchants or Gregorian chants. A single melody without harmony, or one musical part sung together in unison, is called a Monophonic melody, which was sung primarily by monks. Some time later, around 900 A.D., the using of two melodic lines was permitted by the church, this music was called organum. A low, continuous note called a drone, was sung at the same time as the main melody. The two melodies were often moving in contrasting motion to each other. By the Late Medieval period, 1100 A.D., the music of the church had shifted from monophonic to more polyphonic, often two or more varying parts. The Renaissance period, from 1450 A.D. to 1600 A.D., comprised of two main types of music, sacred and secular. In comparison with the Medieval period, where music was usually reserved for church purposes, the Renaissance period allowed music to expand beyond the church into upper aristocratic society.
