Van Gogh s Starry Night
In Vincent Van Gogh s Starry Night there are many aspects of the artwork that are symbolic of Van
Gogh s life struggles. It is easy for the viewer to assume that the aspects of Starry Night represent van
Gogh s time in the asylum, however, not all aspects represent his insanity and isolation. Starry Night is
van Gogh s representation of his biography inspired by his loss of faith, which can be seen and
supported by the symbols of the church and the stars. It is fair to say van Gogh was not in a good
emotional place when he painted Starry Night. On May 8th 1889, van Gogh entered the hospital of St.
Paul de Mausole at St. Rémy because of his mental instability. He did not leave for many weeks
therefore he was able to devote the majority of his time to his paintings. van Gogh painted Starry
Night in June between 16 18. The mountains are the ones he could see from his cell window but are
exaggerated to reflect this idea of another world or religion that he had connected with in the past
(Soth). According to James Elkins, van Gogh had very passionate, if not obscure, thoughts about how
his art worked as religion (Elkins 12). Many scholars can see the relationship but it is not evident to
the common eye. There is definitely a relationship that ties Starry Night to van Gogh s spiritual life,
but it is the loss of his spiritual life that influenced this piece of artwork. In Starry Night (figure 1)
there is a church that is not based off the church in the town of St. Rémy

Comparing Ancient Egypt And Ancient Sumer

HUM 1020
Ancient Egypt and Ancient Sumer The history of Ancient Egypt is divided into three broad periods:
Old Kingdom (2649 2152 BCE), Middle Kingdom (2040 1640 BCE), and New Kingdom (1550 1070
BCE). In the earliest times, population inhabited areas closer to the Nile river as it was the major
source of prosperity available because it provided them with generous agricultural advantages. Due to
the extent of the river, Egyptians were also able to find other resources like timber and gold. Since this
last metal was considered divine, together with their belief that death was solely a continuation of life
and that they should be buried with objects they had considered especially important in their ... Show

Furthermore, they went beyond drawn images and created the first system of writing called cuneiform
based on their need of maintaining an accurate long distance communication when trading. In terms of
taxes, after they the Sumerians were invaded by the Mongols, the government had created a law that
would allow all others to produce as much as they could, as long they would contribute to a portion of
the state.
With the installation of King Hammurabi, the first law code was created, which also drastically
changed society back then and remained as ancestor of modern law systems. However, Hammurabi s
laws were quite strict since he was installing a legal system in which the punishment for whichever
action needed to be penalized, was the exact same thing happening to the one who had committed the
crime ; also, known as the eye for an eye

Obamacare
Should a doctor have to deny their patient health care because they do not have health insurance?
Before the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), also known as
Obamacare, numerous doctors turned down care for their patients. The Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act is part of the Democratic Congress and President Barack Obama s effort to
reform the American health care system, provide health insurance to millions of uninsured Americans
and lower costs associated with health care ( Patient Protection And Affordable Care Act. ). Many
have argued that Obamacare is a socialist government takeover of the health care system, however
Obamacare is a landmark legislation that reforms the U.S. health care system. The right to health care
is displayed in the founding documents of the United States. The Declaration of Independence states
that all citizens have unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of ... Show

Furthermore, adversaries complain that the complexity of Obamacare s employer mandate have forced
small businesses to cut hours, wages and jobs ( Obamacare. ). In California, over seventy percent of
the 104,000 physicians are refusing to participate in Obamacare, [because] practices stand to lose
millions of dollars under the state s bargain basement insurances rates. (Crocker 97) Although, some
economists believe the high costs of employee health insurance place US companies at a competitive
disadvantage in the international marketplace, according to the Business Coalition for Single Payer
Healthcare, a right to healthcare under a single payer system could reduce employer labor costs by 10
12% ( Obamacare. ). In addition, the law reduces health care costs by rewarding doctors, hospitals and
other providers that deliver high quality care and making investments to fund research

Paner A Successful Company With A Bright Future
While I believe that Panera is a successful company with a bright future, I have a few
recommendations which I hope could help Panera further grow their business. I have included a plan
of action for each recommendation. I recommend that Panera open drive thru service in all of their
restaurants. They could provide drinks and pastries through the drive thru to customers on the go in
the morning. This would especially be beneficial during bad weather when consumers are leery of
leaving their vehicles. By providing this service Panera will be able to get more of a market share on
the morning commuters. To put this in action Panera should first analyze which of their buildings are
already situated with an outside wall that could accommodate a window and driving lane. Next Panera
should begin the training and construction needed at these stores. Panera should then evaluate any
necessary changes to other stores that are within malls, or come to the realization that a drive thru is
not an option without moving the stores. Those stores would be last to deal with. I recommend that
Panera partner with recording companies to create promotions which will help both Panera and the
recording industry. I think Panera would benefit from linking the customer rewards card with music
downloads on the internet. In order to do this Panera would need to meet with several recording
companies to obtain rights and to make a mutually beneficial agreement. After the agreement is in

How Does Capote Describe The Town Holcomb
Although, Capote writes about a monumental murder he focuses in on how graceful Holcomb is
before the murder; therefore, Capote verbalizes even if a town is safe it can be threatening anywhere.
Capote uses literary devices such as anaphora to describe the town Holcomb to give readers a
comprehension on how Holcomb acted before the chaos began. In the beginning of the book Capote
reports Holcomb town as, Like the waters of the river, like the motorists on the highway, and like the
yellow streaking down the Santa Fe tracks, drama, in the shape of exceptional happenings, has never
stopped there (Capote 5). Life in Holcomb was as if the town had its own little world and nothing
from the outside mattered. Holcomb was just a small, quiet town in the middle of nowhere. Capote
wants people to know how separated Holcomb town was and how one big murder could matter so
much. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Capote states, The land is flat, and the views are awesomely extensive; horses, herds of cattle, a white
cluster of grain elevators rising as gracefully as Greek temples are visible long before a traveler
reaches them (Capote 3). Truman Capote is referring back to the Greek temples a time period where
there was big difficulties, which led the Greeks to a downfall. Capote first mentions how graceful the
Greeks are to let the readers know it was very peaceful there before chaos. By comparing Holcomb
town to the Greek civilization Capote lets his readers know something is coming, it will go from
peaceful to dangerous. From the look of Holcomb it seems as though it is safe, but once entered into
the town, family s will see how crazy it really

The Success Of A Department s Doctoral Program
Literature Review
The dissertation is the most powerful, objective measure of the success of a department s doctoral
program (Lovitts, 2007). Nevertheless, the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS) (2016a, 2016b) has
reported that institutions of higher education face critical challenges regarding attrition and students
timely completion of quality dissertations. With doctoral student attrition ranging from 40% to 60%,
pressure from regulators and governing bodies has institutions scrambling to find sustainable
solutions, while yet maintaining dissertation quality and rigor (Brill, Balcanoff, Land, Gogarty, Turner,
2014; CGS, 2016b; Harris, Birk, Sherman, 2016; Kelley Salisbury Glennon, 2016; Kezar, 2014;

One means to enhance this relationship is through the development of institutional assessment
standards, where administrators can hold faculty accountable for consistent delivery of rigorous
educational best practices. Although theorists have proposed changes in higher education to replace
traditional with formative assessment, few administrators have implemented these changes within
their institutions (Fook Sidhu, 2010). Unlike traditional assessment, the purpose of formative
assessment is not merely to prove student learning, but to guide and develop it, where what is learned
is dependent upon how it is learned (Fook Sidhu, 2010; Resnick, 1989; Walters et al., 2015). Such
feedback, contingent upon the complex interrelationships of cognitive, affective, socio cultural, and
contextual factors, can increase a student s ability to grasp the processes underlying scholarly writing
and research, which are essential to successful completion of a quality dissertation (Resnick, 1989;
Walters et al., 2015).
One such theoretical model that addresses these complex interrelationships, where its application can
enhance the quality of

George Pullman And Economic Depression
Economic depression took a big toll on America, causing events like the Panic of 1893 which created
the collapse of railroad overbuilding, which further led to the collapse of many banks. This depression
affected George Pullman s company, causing him to take actions, making more of an impact than he
ever thought. George Pullman was an American engineer and industrialist who founded his company.
He created a community and environment that his workers lived and worked in. His company played a
big role in the labor movement because they were a prime source for transportation. Overtime,
companies grew and continued to grow by opening mines, overflowing the market with minerals such
as silver. Faster construction meant building more railroads so more goods could be shipped. Building
more railroads meant having more transportation and soon enough, the production rate was
significantly lower than the sell rate since companies had more deliveries from the railroads. When
economic depression hit, Pullman had to make some changes that would benefit the company but not
the people of the community. Economic depression sparked conflicts that resulted in the Pullman
Strike. George Pullman failed to create a compromise that would solve the worker s unfair wages,
poor working conditions, and the lack of voice they had, and this resulted in a halt on the labor
movement. Because of economic depression, George Pullman was forced to make changes in order to
keep his company thriving. He then

Sexual Harassment in India
Sexual harassment in India is termed Eve teasing and is described as: unwelcome sexual gesture or
behaviour whether directly or indirectly as sexually coloured remarks; physical contact and advances;
showing pornography; a demand or request for sexual favours; any other unwelcome physical,
verbal/non verbal conduct being sexual in nature. The critical factor is the unwelcomeness of the
behaviour, thereby making the impact of such actions on the recipient more relevant rather than intent
of the perpetrator. According to India s constitution, sexual harassment infringes the fundamental right
of a woman to gender equality under Article 14 of the Constitution of India and her right to life and
live with dignity under Article 21 of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jokes, pictures, touching, leering, unwanted requests for a date have all been found by courts to be
sexual harassment in the workplace. Sexual harassment in the workplace can be between people of the
same sex. Sexual harassment in the workplace can be a woman harassing a man.
Who can sue?
Anyone who is offended by a sexually harassing environment may theoretically sue. However, that
employee s offense must be reasonable. An extremely sensitive person might not be able to maintain a
claim, because her feelings of having been offended were not reasonable.
The reasonableness is evaluated by a standard that is the same as a person in the victim s
circumstances. For example, what a reasonable woman might think is a hostile environment is not
necessarily the same as what a man might think is a hostile environment. If it s a woman who was
harassed, it s the woman s point of view that counts.
Damages In Sexual Harassment In The Workplace Cases
Victims of sexual harassment in the workplace can recover for their lost wages, future lost wages,
emotional distress, punitive damages, and attorneys fees.
In India, fortunately or unfortunately many women has been misusing this Bill as also other Women
Rights protection Bills to further their own agenda.
I have raised this topic with the veiw that most Companies in India have drafted a Policy against

The Socio Economic Attainment Of Adoptees
During the second half of the 20th century, there has been unprecedented growth in adoptions
(Selman, 2009; Stolley, 1993). Not only has the number of adoptees more than doubled from
approximately 50,000 in the 1940 s to more than 110,000 in 1990 (Stolley, 1993), but this increase has
been the inspiration of significant studies related to the psychological, social and physical health of the
adopted population. Furthermore, in the past four decades, the U.S. has become the number one
destination of adopted children from foreign countries.
While there have been significant studies to provide a portrait relating to how adoptees adapt to their
families, (L. Hamilton, Cheng, Powell, 2007; Hellerstedt 2008), there remains major unanswered ...

Thomas examines the relationship between adoption status and schooling progress differs between
foreign born and U.S. born children. He also examines if foreign born adopted children are more
likely to lag behind in school compared to U.S. born adoptees. Lastly, he examines if adoption status
results in differentiated patterns of educational inclusion among immigrant children. In addition, he
also examines how these variations are associated to racial and ethnic differences. Thomas tests four
hypothesis. Hypothesis 1 proposes adopted children have a schooling disadvantage compared to
biological peers but the disadvantage is smaller among immigrants compared to U.S. natives.
Hypothesis 2 tests whether adopted children of immigrant parents are more likely to fall behind in
school compared to their peers with U.S. born parents. Hypothesis 3 suggests foreign born adoptees
have less favorable schooling outcomes compared to adoptees born in the United States. Hypothesis 4
proposes minorities, especially Black face additional barriers of prejudice and discrimination and
because of this realize the least educational gains when compared to white peers.
Thomas avoids two common shortcomings of studies oabout adopted children. Many are based on
convenience samples and small numbers of observations (Brodzinsky, 1993; Shiano Tuan, 2008). By
using pooled data from the American Community Survey (ACS) over a

The Atomic Bombs
During the 20th century, specifically the year 1945, the United States of America had two atomic
bombs that the commander and chief, and president at the time, Harry Truman, knew about. President
Truman plan was to drop the bombs on two of Japans cities, Hiroshima first and then Nagasaki.
Truman s plans went accordingly, which to this day leads to a very controversial topic on whether or
not dropping the atomic bombs was a good or bad thing. There is evidence and reasoning to back up
both claims, in which everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However, in my opinion, I believe the
choice of Harry Truman to drop the two atomic bombs was the right choice because it saved lives,
helped end the war faster, and it was merely the only choice for the sake of the American soldiers.
During this time there was a lot going on. A few years before, between the time 1937 and 1941 Japan
owned most of the land of East and Southeast Asia. When the attack of the United States in December
of 1941 at Pearl Harbor, this caused the United States to enter the war. Japan did not have enough
resources to fight against the United States and Britain causing them to be pushed out of the land of
East and Southeast Asia (Basic Information of the Bomb). The then president at the time FDR died in
February 1945, which leads to Truman becoming the new president soon after.
The United States had two options when addressing the pacific front. They had to either continue man
to man combat or force

The island est.) was Christianized from the 5th century National Holiday: Saint Patrick s Day, March
17 onward. Following the Norman invasion in the
12th century, England claimed sovereignty over Ireland. However, English rule did not extend over
the whole island until the 16th 17th century Tudor conquest. This led to colonisation of Ireland by
settlers from Britain. In the 1690s, a system of Protestant English rule was designed to materially
disadvantage the Catholic majority and Protestant dissenters, and was extended during the 18th
century. In 1801, Ireland became a part of the United Kingdom. A war of independence in the early
20th century was followed by the partition of the island, creating the Irish Free State, which became
increasingly sovereign over the following decades, and Northern Ireland which remained a part of the
United Kingdom. Northern Ireland saw much civil unrest from the late 1960s until the 1990s. This
subsided following a political agreement in 1998. In 1973, both parts of
Ireland joined the European Economic Community [4].

America s Inadvertent Empire By Robert Dujarric And...
The current overwhelming dominance of the unprecedented modern American empire in the realm of
world politics generally agreed upon by experts and scholars around the world. There is little to refute
the argument that there is any state that comes close to the strength of the Americans in a vast number
of areas, most notably economically and militarily. Present debate among experts in the field of
international relations revolves around whether the Americans can maintain their primacy for
upcoming generations. Robert Dujarric and William Odom, both experienced and respected scholars
of international relations, declare in their 2004 work, America s Inadvertent Empire, that America is in
a solid position to keep a tight hold on its place at the top. Vividly explaining America s path to
dominance while emphasizing the current state of domination, the authors effectively present the
abilities of the empire while also illustrating the potential threats that could bring it down.
No one was stopping the force of America s dominance that has characterized global affairs since
America s entrance into the world stage of great powers following its victories in the Spanish
American war of 1898 (Farrenkopf). Their incidental rise, partly due to country s many natural
advantages at its disposal, including large population and landmass, oceanic protection from Europe
and East Asia, natural resources and favorable climate, is largely credited by the authors to its liberal
institutions,

Films are used to discuss several social issues in order to inform audiences or it is just mainly to
entertain viewers with subtle relations with social issues. In 1994, Forrest Gump, an American epic
romantic comedy drama film was released and was directed by Robert Zemeckis based on the 1986
novel written by Winston Groom (Wikipedia). The film s setting was focused in the middle of nearly
every major event of the 1960s and 1970s.
The Subject matter of the Film, Forrest Gump, was mainly to demonstrate what happened in the
United States of America during the 1960s and 1970s. During these years, the events that was shown
in the film were: Lyndon Johnson s proclamation of Great Society which meant that poverty and racial
injustice had no place (History.com). In the 1960s, there was event where four black students sat down
at a whites only lunch counter in Greensboro, North Carolina, in February 1960 and refused to leave.
Their movement spread: Hundreds of demonstrators went back to that lunch counter every day, and
tens of thousands clogged segregated restaurants and shops across the upper South. The protesters
drew the nation s attention to the injustice, brutality and capriciousness that characterized Jim Crow
(History.com). That event led to Lyndon Johnson signing the Civil Rights Act which is the act that
outlawed discrimination in public facilities and it prohibits

Summary Of Respecting The Holocaust By Howard Zinn
In Respecting the Holocaust by Howard Zinn, he argues against the uniqueness of the Jewish
Holocaust . In his essay, he provides positive and critical responses to the significance of the
Holocaust. First, he starts by recalling when I was teaching in Boston University, I was asked by a
Jewish group to give a talk on the Holocaust, but he chooses to recall events that happened in
America. He elaborates on the death of hundreds of thousands of peasants in Guatemala and El
Salvador. Zinn s point is to not focus on the Holocaust only, but enlarge the Holocaust to also include
other events that happen in other parts of the world. He concludes his argument by stating that what
happened to the Jews is only unique in its details, but it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By increasing our knowledge about other events that happen around the world, we learn more about
other traditions and increase diversity without any discrimination in favor of any race, culture, or
religion. For example, in the website (www.bbc.co.uk), France had many occurring attacks by Muslim
extremists and terrorists in the last month because of differences in ideologies and beliefs. Some of
these attacks occurred in the Bataclan concert hall, Casa Nostra pizza restaurant, and outside of the
Stade de France soccer stadium. Some attackers were using guns and shooting people while suicide
bombers took innocent lives with them. Doing so, terrorists were thinking that killing people is
justified according to their beliefs (www.bbc.co.uk). These terrorists believe that anyone who does not
agree with their beliefs or customs should be discriminated against and killed. I think that what
happened in France was caused by the different ideologies and close mindedness toward other
traditions and beliefs. The differences in ideologies that were the main causes for the attack on France
share the same characteristics with the Holocaust in which both events are a result of different
ideologies and un approval of other beliefs or customs. Therefore, I think that what occurred in France
and is still happening in other parts of the world should receive the same importance as the Holocaust.
Zinn in his essay (Respecting the Holocaust) agrees that we should acknowledge that humankind is all
one, and there is no difference between colors, nationality, or religion and that all humans deserve
equal rights which are the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. As a result of considering
other events as well as the Holocaust, there will be more cultural integration without the base for
discrimination against race, culture or religion as what happened during the Holocaust or

Essay on The Odyssey
The Odyssey details Odysseus arduous return to his homeland. Ten years have passed since the end of
the Trojan war and Odysseus, the most cursed man alive , has been missing and presumed dead by
many. (10.79). Throughout the novel, gods play a significant role in the fate of Odysseus and other
characters. The extent of the gods role though is not unqualified, contrary to Telemachus suggestion
that, Zeus is to blame./He deals to each and every/ laborer on this earth whatever doom he pleases
(1.401 403). While Zeus does have this power, his description of how humans meet their fate is more
accurately depicted throughout the novel. As he aptly points out, from us alone, the say, come all their

Odysseus arrogance furthers his misfortune, since Polyphemos is Poseidon s son. Polyphemos
proceeds to ask his father to never allow Odysseus to return and if Odysseus returns home that it be
well over due and without his crew; Poseidon obliges. In this instance, Poseidon s wrath against
Odysseus is solely Odysseus fault. Had Odysseus not told the Cyclops his name, he would not have
been deemed the ill fate that he was. With one brash decision, Odysseus cedes control of his fate to
Polyphemos and then Poseidon. Here, Odysseus stupidity shows that mortals possess a significant
degree of control over their fate. After being released from Circe s island, Odysseus follows her advice
and ventures to the underworld to speak with the lauded prophet Tiresias. While Tiresias is not a god,
he is not a mortal. This, along with his knowledge of Odysseus desire to return home and Poseidon s
anger towards Odysseus, allows Odysseus to trust him. Upon speaking with Tiresias, he learns that,
A sweet smooth journey home, renowned Odysseus, that is what you seek, but a god will make it hard

still enraged, because you blinded the Cyclops, his dear son.

due to the increased exploitation of nonrenewable resources by humans. The focus of the study was to
determine how ocean acidification would affect embryo development and larval release time, larval

The first table showed the average water parameters between acidified and control samples, with the
corresponding standard errors. Four of the parameters had the same units (HCO3 , DIC, alkalinity, and
CO32 ), a good visual way to show the difference between them would be to plot these four
parameters on a scatter graph. Table 2 had a lot of data contained in it this made it a little
overwhelming trying to figure out what the data meant. The authors in figure 3 showed a bar chart
describing PC1 for the differences in acidified and control conditions, for both March and February.
Long et al., did not go into detail about PC3, although, another bar chart for PC2 depicting treatment
and months could have improved the paper. For female calcification and survival (figure 4) three bar
graphs were plotted; with embryonic treatment on the x axis using subcategories March, February,

mostly bar graphs to visualize data, this is very repetitive and I think a more diverse group of graphs

The City Of The Middle East
For my trip, I am going to be heading over to the Middle East. This city is one of the most interesting
places in the world; It is the fastest growing city in the world and is a dazzling, cosmopolitan
destination complete with gleaming skyscrapers, amazing weather, thousands of foreigners and some
of the most breathtaking and opulence hotels in the world (Stephanie). The city is rich with a widely
diverse culture, but is ruled under strict Muslim law by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The strict laws placed upon this city also gives it a crime rate virtually at 0% making it one of the
safest cities in the world (Stephanie). The Sheikh take great pride in their police force and make a
conscious effort to show off how classy it is to tourists coming around the world. The various models
of police cars range in the equivalence of one person in the United States going to college. The models
of police cars include Ferraris (valued at $500,000), Lamborghinis (valued at $400,000) and one
Ashton Martin, priced at $1.79 million. This flashy city in the desert is where is decided to take my
trip; the city is located in the country United Arab Emirates and is called the city of Dubai.
To get my trip started I am going to be taking a Delta flight from Atlanta (ATL) to Paris, France

Objection To Pascal s Wager Argument
In this paper, I will evaluate blackburn s objection to how he deems Pascal s use of notion
metaphysical ignorance as a problematic starting position to arrive the conclusion of Pascal s Wager
argument. In Metaphysical ignorance , which refers to the idea that Pascal posits in the beginning of
his Wager argument, that we know neither what God is nor what kinds of attributes and properties
God has. As a result of this knowing, Pascal sets out four options to wager, which is four possible
consequences of belief or disbelief whether God exists or not, by implying us to choose the one which
offers eternal happiness and gains; However, the options are flawed since Blackburn thinks Pascal can
not assume there is an eternal gain or loss especially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Subsequently, he builds his wager argument by assuming four outcomes on the basis of four options
since we do not know whether God is essentially in existence. He offers four choices: First, If we
believe in God, and God in fact exists, then we will be rewarded by infinite happiness. Second, If we
believe in God, and God in fact does not exist, then I will have no payoff. Third, If we do not believe
in God, and God in fact does not exist, then we will get infinite pain. Forth, If I do not believe in God,
and God in fact does not exist, I will have no payoff too. Pascal is attempt to justify belief in God is
not with an appeal to evince God s existence. But rather, is with an appeal to our own interest by
choosing the one what benefits us. From the four options Pascal presents, I presume he does not know
What attributes God owns since he starts the position of metaphysical ignorance before framing these
options; however, Pascal s set up for wager indicates he does know something. For instance, he knows
God could be either punishing or rewarding people regarding the decision we wager. Considered from
this point, I conclude that Blackburn develops stronger argument in which he points of the self
contradictory nature of Pascal s position of metaphysical ignorance. Accordingly, I conclude Pascal s
wager is a weak argument in this

International Non Governmental Organisations Play An...
Introduction
Currently, a lot of global issues are becoming confused and more serious because of globalization.
Since Cold War, the number of conventional war between countries has reduced and it seems that
finally we obtain peaceful world on the surface. However, it is certain that a new type of opposition
has emerged which we call international conflict , and this is more complicated than conventional war
to address resolution. Because of diversity and ambiguity of international conflict, the role of each
actor, for example, the UN, government, and especially NGOs has been broader and more vital to
keep sustainable peace. In this situation, can international non governmental organisations play an
effective role in resolving international conflicts? It seem that the work of NGOs are unfamiliar than
other organisations. In this essay, an argument focuses on what international conflict is, what the
specific role of NGO is in this field, and comparing role of NGO to other actors role mentioning
examples. Besides, at last, some suggestions concerned with this issue will be suggested.
What is the international conflict?
A Conflict is an uncertain concept which is defined such as fight, games and debates (Rapoport,
1960), and this argument is still debatable. There are mainly two kind of traditional conflict which are
consensual conflict and dissensual conflict. This concept is also uncertain academically because each
person has used these concept in different ways or

Documentation In Childcare
baxterchildcare.com.au Developmental Records and Child Progress Reports: Why Are These
Important in A Child Day Care?
Educators even in a childcare centre must keep developmental records and child progress reports in
order to bring out the best in the children in their care daily. They need this documentation for a
number of reasons that range from evaluating the efficiency of the centre s teaching methods to
sharing detailed information with the parents about the progress of their children. A childcare centre
should make record keeping an integral part of its routine to ensure that all documentation is up to
date.

We say tricky since not all children progress at the same rate and at times, some parents become upset
at the thought that their children are behind in development. A skilled educator will be able to allay the
fears of these parents through showing the proper documentation and guide them on how to help their
children through the difficulties they may have in the developmental process.
Evaluating Teaching Methods
When educators in a childcare centre can examine their written documentation on each child, they are
able to realize which methods and programs are a success and the ones that need improvement.
Through this, the centre can offer the best possible programs and teaching methods to fit their children
s needs and circumstances. Without proper record keeping, the centre would have no way to re
examine its actions.
Childcare Centres, Parents and Children Benefit From Documentation
When childcare centres make the appropriate entries into children s developmental records and
progress reports, all parties benefit from this effort. Childcare centres can continually improve their
operations. Parents receive accurate updates on their children s progress. Children receive the best
care and training possible from the educators at the

The Movie Crash Essay
Writer director Paul Haggis Movie Crash written in 2004, tells an interconnecting story of what
Whites, Blacks, Latinos, Iranians, cops and criminals. Regardless of their Social Economic Academic
or Political background, they are all defined in one way or another by racism. Crash represents the
modern condition as a violent bumper car ride (Variety) which connects stories based on coincidences
serendipity, and luck as the lives of the characters crash against one another. The movie presumes that
most people feel prejudice and resentment against members of another group. Crash has a world pool

The character is wordy and didactic, yes, but not the film. He is also as he proves when he and his
partner carjack a young District Attorney (Brendan Fraser) and his wife (Sandra Bullock) everything
he despises white people for suspecting he is. (Empire) Along his side is his friend Peter Waters who
is played by Larenz Tate, they together begin to steal cars to make a living. Anthony is the dominant
one of the two, since he is older.
The film Crash fits into the categories of Drama, Indie, and Crime. Crash relates to the categories by
including all the characters emotion and how they are individual lives are impacted. How crime is
related in the film is by the carjacking, sexual assaults and as well as the shooting of Mr. Pena s
daughter. The film is not part of a classic. Crash is based on a real life experienced instead of a true
story, It originated in a dream that I had. I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about these two
guys who 10 years before had jacked my car. I was really curious about who these two kids were.
(HUFFPOST) The film is unique to its categories, because it covers so many different story lines, and
it forcers the viewer to look deep inside themselves and choose which side they would be on. The
viewer can be in this situation at any given time, and it would be up to the viewers to say would I do
this or would I act in a unique way to change my life and someone else

History and Albert Einstein Albert Einstein was one of the greatest physicists of all time. His early life
demonstrated his fascination with science. Einstein s work changed how people viewed the entire
universe.
Einstein s was born on the 14th of March in 1879. He grew up in Ulm, Germany. Einstein had an
irregular education because he was always moving schools. Though being thrown around to many
schools he read many popular books on science. By the age of 17 he started attending the Federal
Polytechnic Academy in Zurich, Switzerland. While there Einstein studied physics and mathematics.
In 1905 Einstein was awarded his PH.D. from the University of Zurich. 1905 was also the year that
historians refer to has Einstein s miracle year . During this time he was wrote and published five
theoretical papers. One of these papers titled On a Heuristic Viewpoint Concerning the Production and

Similarities Between North Korea And South Korea
Divided on the 38th parallel, North Korea and South Korea remain split over their political ideology.
Both nations run on completely different political ideologies. One party governs North Korea which
establishes a common form of dictatorship. South Korea displays a democratic government with
multiple political parties as well as government institutions serving as check and balances on other
parts of the South Korean government. Through years of international involvement in the Korean
Peninsula, North Korea and South Korea built their government by force. Hopes of easing tension

As this is partially true, there is an actual system that officially proclaims the verdict. The judicial
branch in North Korea and South Korea vary immensely, especially from the lens of an American
reader. In South Korea, a Supreme Court exists along with Constitutional Courts. The Supreme Court
is made up of a board of fourteen justices, including one chief justice. Constitutional Courts carry a
similar model of nine justices with one court head (Indexmundi.com). The President appoints the chief
justice of the Supreme Court with approval of the National Assembly. All justices serve a term of six
years, yet the chief justice s term cannot be repeated. Justices in the Constitutional Court are appointed
evenly by the President, National Assembly, and Supreme Court chief justice. The court head serves
until their retirement at seventy years of age. The other justices in the Constitutional Court serve six
year terms, which can be consecutive, but must retire by the age of sixty five (Indexmundi.com). In
North Korea, the courts are less complicated and follow a strict rule the form of government sets.
There is a Supreme Court, also known as the Central Court, that has three judges, who serve for five
years, selected by the National Assembly. Lower courts do exist where the Supreme People s
Assembly appoint the judges (Indexmundi.com). Comparing both countries judicial branches is

Video Games Impact On Society
Video Games have been a growing interest to the people since the early 1980 s.
Video games have been a lasting influence on our youth and adults in today s society, games in the
making throughout their time have came from a slow pace, pixely, more of a puzzle type of games.
Nowadays games today are more real life making it feel like the game you re playing to be real life.
They also are fast pace, not as much thinking involved, just run around shoot em up type of games that
are in demand, stems the question are video games beneficial or hazardous? A Lot of people in today s
society have the opinion that videogames are a waste of time, create antisocial behaviors, and have a
negative influence on the person s physical and mental health, because they have a lot of violent
content. In my opinion video games have a very positive impact on people today and they are
beneficial by giving people a brain workout, it promotes social activity and teamwork, it also proven
to improve your psychological well being.
Furthermore, playing video games gives you a mental workout meaning playing different types of
games requires high levels of brain activity, and abstract thinking. By playing Shooter games gives the
person a more faster reaction time, this can be helpful in anything you do in life whether it be barely
getting out of the way of a moving car, catching a baseball getting hit back at you, or something as
simple as grabbing something before it falls. Kühn observed her subjects

The Ozone Hole And Polar Regions
The Ozone Hole and the Polar Regions The Polar Regions of the Earth have slowly been fading away
in the past two centuries, but with the introduction of a new and growing problem, the ozone hole, the
Polar Regions are more vulnerable than ever before. The depletion of the ozone within the atmosphere
has caused the atmosphere to alter its radiative effects and raise the overall climate of the Earth. The
Earth s ozone layer has continued to dwindle down in size and it has had profound effects on its
radiative ability. The Earth s undergoes a natural process, known as the greenhouse effect, which
involves greenhouse gasses to absorb heat and radiate it back towards Earth. This allows Earth to have
a temperature that can support life. Due the widening of the ozone hole, the greenhouse effect has
become accelerated. The substances that destroy ozone molecules, including CFCs, are also very
strong greenhouse gasses which intensify the greenhouse effect and cause the lower troposphere to
warm. Furthermore, the depletion of ozone allows ultraviolet rays to easily pass through the
stratosphere and hit Earth, which, in turn, raises the temperature of the lower atmosphere. This rise in
temperature has caused a great deal of implications in the Polar Regions.
The Climate Change and the Polar Regions The Polar Regions are made mostly of ice and are very
susceptible to heat. The accelerated Greenhouse Effect has caused Arctic temperatures to increase 3°C
in the past 100 years. This

Barbie Essays
Barbie Since the beginning of time, toys have often been an indicator of the way a society behaves,
and how they interact with their children. For example, in ancient Greece, artifacts recovered there
testify that children were simply not given toys to play with as in the modern world. The cruel ritual of
leaving a sick child on a hillside for dead, seems to indicate a lack of attention to the young (Lord 16).
The same is true of today s society. As you can see with the number of toy stores in our society, we
find toys of great value to our lives and enjoy giving them to children as gifts. Ask just about any
young girl what she wants for Christmas and you ll undoubtedly get the same answer: A Barbie. But

In fact, the Barbie doll was so popular that three years after her release in 1959 Mattel was still filling
orders from her first year (Long 17).
It wasn t until the late 1960 s that critics began comparing Barbie to a Playboy Bunny and calling her
a corrupter of youth ( Bad Girl 3). One woman commented, She s an absurd representation of what a
woman should be ( Bad Girl 3) and that s exactly what many others thought she was, too. With such
impossible real life measurements of 5 9 tall, 36 18 33 bust, waist, and hip (Benstock and Ferriss 35),
it s easy to see why mothers across the country banned the doll from their homes and refused to let
their impressionable young daughters be influenced by a piece of painted plastic (Bestock and Ferriss
35). Since dolls have often been responsible for teaching children what society deems important or
beautiful, many concerned parents wondered why Mattel did not design a doll that taught more
valuable lessons than dressing pretty and being dangerously skinny (Edut 19)? Who said a runway
model was best suited for teaching a child what is beautiful anyway? According to a Mattel
spokesperson, a Kate Moss figure is better suited for today s fashions (Edut 19), and that is one reason
why Barbie must be so disproportional. Actually, another reason for Barbie s anorexic figure can be
traced back long before Kate Moss and the fashion runway. Barbie was

The Stigma Of Embryonic Stem Cell Research
Despite the stigma surrounding embryonic stem cell research, there are many positives that outweigh
the negatives in medical and scientific settings. Due to the knowledge of this, continued funding and
support is critical for the advancement of these therapies and science as a whole. Diseases that can be
aided by unabating financial and moral support are but not limited to, spinal cord injury, heart disease,
parkinson s disease, alzheimer s and Lou Gehrig s disease, more commonly known as ALS. Funding
via the government was passed into law in 2008 by President Barack Obama. As the election comes
upon us it is important to keep in mind that the continued federal funding for embryonic is at stake.
Embryonic stem cells are cells found in the human body that have not yet differentiated, or specialised
meaning that they have not yet received the specific instructions to become a specific cell. They can
be manipulated to turn into any kind of cell, for example, new skin cells for someone with melanoma.
Stem cells are found in the placenta, umbilical blood, fat tissue, bone marrow and mew embryos.
Embryonic stem cells have an advantage over the other sources of stem cells because the cells have
less exposure to the outside world and are relatively easy to access, in situations like in vitro
fertilization.
Scientists and researchers believe they could potentially treat a wide array of human conditions and
diseases, such as spinal cord injury, type one

  • 2. Van Gogh s Starry Night In Vincent Van Gogh s Starry Night there are many aspects of the artwork that are symbolic of Van Gogh s life struggles. It is easy for the viewer to assume that the aspects of Starry Night represent van Gogh s time in the asylum, however, not all aspects represent his insanity and isolation. Starry Night is van Gogh s representation of his biography inspired by his loss of faith, which can be seen and supported by the symbols of the church and the stars. It is fair to say van Gogh was not in a good emotional place when he painted Starry Night. On May 8th 1889, van Gogh entered the hospital of St. Paul de Mausole at St. Rémy because of his mental instability. In Starry Night (figure 1) there is a church that is not based off the church in the town of St. Rémy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the earliest times, population inhabited areas closer to the Nile river as it was the major source of prosperity available because it provided them with generous agricultural advantages. Due to the extent of the river, Egyptians were also able to find other resources like timber and gold. Since this last metal was considered divine, together with their belief that death was solely a continuation of life and that they should be buried with objects they had considered especially important in their ... Furthermore, they went beyond drawn images and created the first system of writing called cuneiform based on their need of maintaining an accurate long distance communication when trading. In terms of taxes, after they the Sumerians were invaded by the Mongols, the government had created a law that would allow all others to produce as much as they could, as long they would contribute to a portion of the state. With the installation of King Hammurabi, the first law code was created, which also drastically changed society back then and remained as ancestor of modern law systems. • 5. Paner A Successful Company With A Bright Future While I believe that Panera is a successful company with a bright future, I have a few recommendations which I hope could help Panera further grow their business. I have included a plan of action for each recommendation. I recommend that Panera open drive thru service in all of their restaurants. They could provide drinks and pastries through the drive thru to customers on the go in the morning. This would especially be beneficial during bad weather when consumers are leery of leaving their vehicles. By providing this service Panera will be able to get more of a market share on the morning commuters. To put this in action Panera should first analyze which of their buildings are already situated with an outside wall that could accommodate a window and driving lane. Next Panera should begin the training and construction needed at these stores. Panera should then evaluate any necessary changes to other stores that are within malls, or come to the realization that a drive thru is not an option without moving the stores. Those stores would be last to deal with. I recommend that Panera partner with recording companies to create promotions which will help both Panera and the recording industry. I think Panera would benefit from linking the customer rewards card with music downloads on the internet. In order to do this Panera would need to meet with several recording companies to obtain rights and to make a mutually beneficial agreement. After the agreement is in place Panera ... Nevertheless, the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS) (2016a, 2016b) has reported that institutions of higher education face critical challenges regarding attrition and students timely completion of quality dissertations. With doctoral student attrition ranging from 40% to 60%, pressure from regulators and governing bodies has institutions scrambling to find sustainable solutions, while yet maintaining dissertation quality and rigor (Brill, Balcanoff, Land, Gogarty, Turner, 2014; CGS, 2016b; Harris, Birk, Sherman, 2016; Kelley Salisbury Glennon, 2016; Kezar, 2014; Locke Boyle, 2016; ... One means to enhance this relationship is through the development of institutional assessment standards, where administrators can hold faculty accountable for consistent delivery of rigorous educational best practices. Although theorists have proposed changes in higher education to replace traditional with formative assessment, few administrators have implemented these changes within their institutions (Fook Sidhu, 2010). Unlike traditional assessment, the purpose of formative assessment is not merely to prove student learning, but to guide and develop it, where what is learned is dependent upon how it is learned (Fook Sidhu, 2010; Resnick, 1989; Walters et al., 2015). Such feedback, contingent upon the complex interrelationships of cognitive, affective, socio cultural, and contextual factors, can increase a student s ability to grasp the processes underlying scholarly writing and research, which are essential to successful completion of a quality dissertation (Resnick, 1989; Walters et al., 2015). • 8. George Pullman And Economic Depression Economic depression took a big toll on America, causing events like the Panic of 1893 which created the collapse of railroad overbuilding, which further led to the collapse of many banks. This depression affected George Pullman s company, causing him to take actions, making more of an impact than he ever thought. George Pullman was an American engineer and industrialist who founded his company. He created a community and environment that his workers lived and worked in. His company played a big role in the labor movement because they were a prime source for transportation. Overtime, companies grew and continued to grow by opening mines, overflowing the market with minerals such as silver. Faster construction meant building more railroads so more goods could be shipped. Building more railroads meant having more transportation and soon enough, the production rate was significantly lower than the sell rate since companies had more deliveries from the railroads. When economic depression hit, Pullman had to make some changes that would benefit the company but not the people of the community. Economic depression sparked conflicts that resulted in the Pullman Strike. George Pullman failed to create a compromise that would solve the worker s unfair wages, poor working conditions, and the lack of voice they had, and this resulted in a halt on the labor movement. Because of economic depression, George Pullman was forced to make changes in order to keep his company thriving. He then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reasonableness is evaluated by a standard that is the same as a person in the victim s circumstances. President Truman plan was to drop the bombs on two of Japans cities, Hiroshima first and then Nagasaki. Truman s plans went accordingly, which to this day leads to a very controversial topic on whether or not dropping the atomic bombs was a good or bad thing. There is evidence and reasoning to back up both claims, in which everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However, in my opinion, I believe the choice of Harry Truman to drop the two atomic bombs was the right choice because it saved lives, helped end the war faster, and it was merely the only choice for the sake of the American soldiers. During this time there was a lot going on. A few years before, between the time 1937 and 1941 Japan owned most of the land of East and Southeast Asia. There is little to refute the argument that there is any state that comes close to the strength of the Americans in a vast number of areas, most notably economically and militarily. Present debate among experts in the field of international relations revolves around whether the Americans can maintain their primacy for upcoming generations. Some of these attacks occurred in the Bataclan concert hall, Casa Nostra pizza restaurant, and outside of the Stade de France soccer stadium. Some attackers were using guns and shooting people while suicide bombers took innocent lives with them. Doing so, terrorists were thinking that killing people is justified according to their beliefs (www.bbc.co.uk). These terrorists believe that anyone who does not agree with their beliefs or customs should be discriminated against and killed. • 30. The Ozone Hole And Polar Regions The Ozone Hole and the Polar Regions The Polar Regions of the Earth have slowly been fading away in the past two centuries, but with the introduction of a new and growing problem, the ozone hole, the Polar Regions are more vulnerable than ever before. The depletion of the ozone within the atmosphere has caused the atmosphere to alter its radiative effects and raise the overall climate of the Earth. The Earth s ozone layer has continued to dwindle down in size and it has had profound effects on its radiative ability. The Earth s undergoes a natural process, known as the greenhouse effect, which involves greenhouse gasses to absorb heat and radiate it back towards Earth. This allows Earth to have a temperature that can support life. Due the widening of the ozone hole, the greenhouse effect has become accelerated. The substances that destroy ozone molecules, including CFCs, are also very strong greenhouse gasses which intensify the greenhouse effect and cause the lower troposphere to warm. Furthermore, the depletion of ozone allows ultraviolet rays to easily pass through the stratosphere and hit Earth, which, in turn, raises the temperature of the lower atmosphere. This rise in temperature has caused a great deal of implications in the Polar Regions. The Climate Change and the Polar Regions The Polar Regions are made mostly of ice and are very susceptible to heat. One woman commented, She s an absurd representation of what a woman should be ( Bad Girl 3) and that s exactly what many others thought she was, too. With such impossible real life measurements of 5 9 tall, 36 18 33 bust, waist, and hip (Benstock and Ferriss 35), it s easy to see why mothers across the country banned the doll from their homes and refused to let their impressionable young daughters be influenced by a piece of painted plastic (Bestock and Ferriss 35). Since dolls have often been responsible for teaching children what society deems important or beautiful, many concerned parents wondered why Mattel did not design a doll that taught more valuable lessons than dressing pretty and being dangerously skinny (Edut 19)? Who said a runway model was best suited for teaching a child what is beautiful anyway? According to a Mattel spokesperson, a Kate Moss figure is better suited for today s fashions (Edut 19), and that is one reason why Barbie must be so disproportional.
