Review Of The Kitab Al Fihrist
Early references[edit] In 988 Ibn al Nadim compiled the Kitab al Fihrist which mentions Jabir as
a spiritual follower and as a companion to Jafar as Sadiq, the sixth Shia Imam. In another
reference al Nadim reports that a group of philosophers claimed Jabir was one of their own
members. Another group, reported by al Nadim, says only The Large Book of Mercy is genuine
and that the rest are pseudographical. Their assertions are rejected by al Nadim.[9] Joining al
Nadim in asserting a real Jabir; Ibn Wahshiyya ( Jaber ibn Hayyn al Sufi ...book on poison is a

After the Abbasids took power, Jabir went back to Kufa. He began his career practicing
medicine, under the patronage of a Vizir (from the noble Persian family Barmakids) of Caliph
Harun al Rashid. His connections to the Barmakid cost him dearly in the end. When that family
fell from grace in 803, Jabir was placed under house arrest in Kufa, where he remained until his
death. It has been asserted that Jabir was a student of the sixth Imam Ja far al Sadiq and Harbi al
Himyari;[9][17] however, other scholars have questioned this theory.[18] The Jabirian corpus[edit]
An illustration of the various experiments and instruments used by Jabir Ibn Hayyan. In total,
nearly 3,000 treatises and articles are credited to Jabir ibn Hayyan.[19] Following the pioneering
work of Paul Kraus, who demonstrated that a corpus of some several hundred works ascribed to
JДЃbir were probably a medley from different hands,[11]:3[20] mostly dating to the late 9th and
early 10th centuries, many scholars believe that many of these works consist of commentaries and
additions by his followers,[citation needed] particularly of an Ismaili persuasion.[21] The scope of
the corpus is vast: cosmology, music, medicine, magic, biology, chemical technology, geometry,
grammar, metaphysics, logic, artificial generation of living beings, along with astrological
predictions, and symbolic ImГўmГ® myths.[11]:5 The 112 Books

Characteristics Of Esther
One of the wonders of the Christian faith is the people it produces and their determination to do
what is right in the eyes of God, no matter the risks. Throughout the old testament, there are
numerous accounts of specific people that show a great amount of faith in God and believe in
his divinity; of these many examples, one of the greatest people that come to mind is Esther,
who can be described with three Godly traits. Furthermore, the traits that Esther possesses,
modesty, self control, and being hidden, along with many others make her the prime example of
what it means to be devoted to God. She was chosen to be brought to the palace, taken from her
former life, and pampered into a beauty fit for a queen; but what made Esther special to the king
and everyone around her was not her beauty, but rather her clear devotion to God and the higher
purpose she possessed. Esther is what people, both men and women, should strive to be,
possessing these traits and focusing on what is important: inner beauty through God. The first
trait that will be discussed is the trait of modesty. Modesty is something that is important to God
and it is an important factor in the Christian faith. Therefor, Esther s display of modesty offers an
example of her devotion to God. An example of Esther s modesty can be found during her time
preparing to become the queen. The former Queen had promoted a much more brazen style and
was not afraid to let her body be seen; this, of

Theo s Chocolate has a completely different message. They are an organic and fair trade life

with chocolate that is organic, non GMO, and uses fair trade. Both Hershey s Chocolate and
Theo s Chocolate have a story and mission. Hershey s mission has to do with children and
education. Hershey Industrial School was started by Hershey and his wife for orphan boys but
is now known as The Milton Hershey School which is a cost free, private school for lower
income families. Theo s mission is completely different as they are focusing on the wellbeing of
the earth and the people who live here. Both companies also use brown in their websites and also
offer tours. Hershey s website had more tabs and information probably because Hershey is a larger
company and much more well known. Also, when visiting Hershey, Pennsylvaniayou cannot go

Essay A Man For All Seasons
In the play A Man For All Seasons, the main character is Sir Thomas More. Sir Thomas is the
Chancellor of England and a very religious man. Once, during a conversation with Wolsey
(Chancellor at the time) about the King needing a son, Wolsey asks if Sir Thomas would like to
govern the whole country by prayer and Sir Thomas agrees. This shows how strong his faith was.
Sir Thomas is a friend of King Henry VIII, but when he disagreed with the King s opinion on
marriage, he was beheaded. King Henry was marriedto Catherineof Argon, the daughter of
Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain. Catherine was Henry s brother s widow. King Henry and Catherine
were married for State reasons , but although Catherine was pregnant many times, only one child...

Everyone is shocked that Sir Thomas has to leave now, because it s 11:00 at night. In Scene 2,
Sir Thomas is at Cardinal Wolsey s. Wolsey is old with a big decayed body. Wolsey asks for Sir
Thomas s help. The King wants a son and Catherine cannot get him one. He wants the King to
get a divorce for State reasons. Sir Thomas doesn t agree, so Wolsey says he was an enemy in
him, until he comes down to earth. In Scene 3, Sir Thomas is looking for a boat, and Cromwell
approaches him. Thomas Cromwell is in his late 30 s, subtle, serious, and an intellectual bully.
Cromwell is on his way to see the Cardinal and wants to know how things went with him and Sir
Thomas. Signor Chapuys shows up. He is the Spanish Ambassador who is in like 60 s and a
professional diplomat. Chapuys tells Sir Thomas that the King of Spain would be very insulted
if Catherine were to be hurt or insulted. He uses this as a kind of threat to Sir Thomas, as if to
make sure Catherine will not get hurt. In Scene 4, when Sir Thomas comes home, he finds out
that William Roper is there with Lady Margaret. Roper wants to marry Margaret, but Sir Thomas
says he cannot as long as he is a heretic. Sir Thomas tells William to get a horse out of the stable
and go home. When Lady Alice and Lady Margaret try to talk to Sir Thomas about his visit with
Wolsey, Thomas just ignores them. Lady Alice says that Norfolk was talking about Sir Thomas for

Rampart Scandal
The Rampart Scandal
When officers from the Los Angeles Police Department s Internal Affairs bureau began shadowing
Rafael Perez, watching their fellow cop steal massive amounts of cocaine from evidence lockers in
order to sell it on the street, investigators thought they had a major misconduct case on their hands.
They didn t know the half of it.
The perception of the Los Angeles Police Department has ranged from being the best police force in
the United States to being a blatant racist agency. The scandals that have surrounded the agency
have taken a toll on the image of the department, The Rampart scandal added to community
mistrust of the LAPD, overturned 100 criminal cases, cost the city upwards of tens of millions of

We urge that the leadership of the LAPD go beyond rhetoric in carrying out its existing policies
against excessive force. From the Chief of Police down to the sergeants, this means taking a firm
stand against the bad guys on the force and employing all the instruments available training,
discipline, assignments, and promotion... We recommend a new standard of accountability (1991,

The Rampart Scandal
It is difficult to fathom that a scandal so large, with grand implications not only for the LAPD but
for urban law enforcement in general, was ignited by one man s attempt to save his own skin. Back
in 1999, confronted by the evidence Internal Affairs had against him, the officer sought to cut a
deal. In exchange for a sweetheart sentence and immunity against further prosecution, he would tell
them about misconduct at the forces
Rampart division. Perez talked for more than 50 hours, telling the investigators not only about
police pushing drugs, but also about officers routinely beating up civilians, framing suspects, and
killing alleged gang members without provocation. If the severity of the misconduct was not
shocking enough, Perez also claimed that such behavior was commonplace in his entire division the
Rampart station unit of an elite anti gang program called CRASH

Ideology Of Punk Rock Ideology
What is punk rock? How many people know the real definition? Punk rocks values, attitude, and
ideologies? Punk rock isn t just a style or a scene but a way of life. It all started in the late 1970s,
originating from the working class angst and frustrations many youth were feeling about the
economic inequality. One of punks main oppositions was rejection of mainstream, corporate mass
culture and its values. It continued to evolve its ideology of anti racist and anti sexist belief systems
as the movement spread from its origins in England and New York to Northern America. The
attitude common in the subculture is the resistance to selling out, which means abandoning one s
values and changing in musical style toward pop to embrace anything that s mainstream capitalist
culture in the exchange for money, status, or power. Punk rocks common thinking wasn t only anti
authoritarism, and not selling out but also non conformity, direct action, and a DIY ethic. The DIY
attitude was pointed towards stepping forward and speaking without any restraint. To fight with
warrior qualities to achieve what you were striving for. The kind of thinking and motives for punk
rocksubjects was to not settle for what society made acceptable and standard but to think and work
outside of the box that was holding them in. Punk rock ideologies were expressed though music and
lyrics, punk literature, fashion and visual art. In the beginning punk fashionevolved everyday

an extremely important player for the conservative party and wrote many well known, important
and wonderfully well worded opinions on many cases the Supreme Court decided during his
service as an Associate Justice. Scalia came from a small family in New Jersey with an Italian
heritage. Throughout his youth he developed strong conservative views that guided his decisions
through life and that ultimately led him to the Supreme Court where he helped shape the legal
world with his opinions and dissents. Antonin Scalia was the only child of Salvadore Eugene and

Scalia argues that the Constitution should not be interpreted too strictly or too leniently, but
reasonably. Scalia argues that being a textualist is essentially interpreting the Constitution for what
it says, not what they think it was trying to say. Scalia believes that interpreting the Constitution for
what the framers meant it to say. However, he also believed that being a good textualist required
not being too literal. If someone simply takes everything the Constitution says as gospel with no
form of interpretation at all then it would constrict progress. The world today is extremely different
compared to the world that the framers lived in when they wrote the Constitution. Which is why the
sweet spot of textualism has to be found, not too literal and not too lenient either. Scalia also brings
forth a counter to the argument against textualism, the one which he claims to be the most
mindless, and that is that textualism is formalistic. Scalia says that of course it is formalistic
because law revolves around formalism. Formalism is what makes a government a government of
laws and not of men, says Scalia. Textualism is what Scalia based his interpretation of the
Constitution and statutes on and this is quite evident in many of his famous opinions

Stigmatization Of Madness In Don Quixote
Our delight in or respect for his madness and its wonderful connections to the imagination does not
take away from our genuine pain at his humiliation. Though Don Quixote is humiliated on every
page of the book, it is only in this п¬Ѓnal humiliation when he becomes a rational observer of his
past insane life and views it with profound regret that we actually enter into real sympathetic pain
with him. Until this point, he is an object of our mirth. Once he becomes aware that his
perception of reality was in error and that his actions were, therefore, not a product of his
autonomous self, we feel genuine compassion for him. His realization that his hyper vigilance
about his dignity as a knight errant was delusional is a serious indignity for him. He has been in
error about reality, and everyone has known it except for him. People have gone along with him in
a patronizing way.
In Cervantes s Don Quixote, we can see remarkably clear pictures of both the kind of unfair
stigmatization of madness that McKay and Mitchell decry and the essentially demeaning nature of
insanity to which Gardner and Macklem draw our attention. Don Quixote is treated with astounding
cruelty. He is made an object of ridicule and trickery by almost everyone he meets.
As Nietzsche says: Today we read Don Quixote with a bitter taste in our mouths, almost with a
feeling of torment, and would thus seem very strange and incomprehensible to its author and his
contemporaries: they read it with the clearest

A Proposal to Ban Smoking in Public Areas Essay
A Proposal to Ban Smoking in Public Areas
Every year, there are over 400,000 smoking related deaths in the United States. A large percentage
of these are due to lung cancer, whose leading cause is smoking. However, not all deaths are
smokers themselves. Anyone in the vicinity can fall victim to second hand smoke. These people,
through no action of their own, can have their lives threatened.
This problem, which plagues all Americans, should have action taken on a local scale to help
protect the health of the public. The Ames City Council is in the process of debating a city
ordanince which whould ban smoking in all public places, with the exception of those designated
as smokng areas . A public place shall be defined by Subsection... Show more content on

Keep in mind, these people don?t smoke themselves, but they are still put at risk by the actions
of others. The Saskatchewan Instite?s webpage goes on to state that half of all children exposed
to second hand smoke are exposed at home. While this is an important fact, its importance lies in
opposite, half are exposed in places other than at home. In America 25,000 people are killed every
year in car accidents, while 53,000 die from second hand smoke (from Office on Smoking and
Health, Center for Disease Control and Prevention, http://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/sgr/sgr_1988/).
Action must be taken to protect these people from a threat over which they have no control.
In addition to statistics, a situation to illustrate the necessity for this proposal can be considered.
Imagine a family, Mom, Dad, and their three children, are going out to eat in a nice restaurant for
Mom?s birthday. When the waitress asks if they?d like smoking or non smoking, they Dad requests
non, because he is concerned about his family?s health. However, the truth about this decision is
that in reality, just being in the restaurant increases the threats to their family.
Those who are opposed to this ban contend that it will hurt economic prosperity of their bars/taverns
/clubs/restaurents, which are the areas that would be most effected by this ordanence. However,
according to a recent study conducted by the Substance Abuse Policy Research Program in New
York, this is not the case. Quite the

Shiloh A Requiem Essay
Unit 5 Culminating Writing Assignment
The Civil War is one of the most central events in American History, determining what kind of
nation it would be. Northern victory preserved the United States as one nation and ended slavery.
Shiloh got its name from the Shiloh Meeting House, a sight of religious significance of the first
battle of the American Civil War. The Battle of Shiloh took place from April 6 to April 7 of 1862,
and got its name from the nearby church. Shiloh A Requiem by Herman Melville is an elegy that
uses an assortment of literary techniques, structure, and symbolism to exemplify the cruelty of the
Civil War. The Drummer Boy of Shiloh written by Ray Bradbury takes place during the Civil
War. It tells the story of a young boy named Joby, and describes his journey of being a drummer
boy using variations of meaning and tone.
Shiloh A Requiem, starts by displaying Shiloh as a forest field that has been cleared and is trying
to return to its previous state. Melville uses the event of when America was left isolated during the
struggle and suffered in the weary church, to state, The church so lone, the log built one, ... Show

the Battle of Shiloh. The tone, word choice, imagery, metaphors, and rhyme of the poem all

baffling and physically damaging and at the end of the war, all the soldier has left to deal with is

Impact Of Convenience On Consumer Behavior
Impact of convenience in the mind of consumers in making purchase decisions in Australia
Introduction
There have been drastic changes in the Australian retailing landscape. Though Coles and
Woolworths are still the largest retailers, others like Aldi have made its way in increasing its market
share. At the same time, local convenience stores still continue to function throughout Australia. It
indeed comes to one s mind as to what are the factors that are contributing to such consumer
behaviour; whether it is some special skills of the local convenience stores or whether the prices
offered are better (which seems like a less possible scenario) or is it just the convenience of the
stores being located nearby which makes such model operational even in the wake of intense
competition between the majors and addition of online capacity by new entrants. Given the
circumstances, a research based on identifying existing small scale operations and finding what
prompts consumers to purchase from such stores will indeed give some insight regarding whether
convenience plays any important role in purchasing decisions of consumers in Australia.
Research Aim
The aim of the research is to identify the causes of consumer behaviour in making purchase
decisions from local convenience stores and whether such decisions are related to any forms of
convenience or is it due to other factors.
Research Objectives
The objectives of the research are as below:
1.To study current status of convenience

Case Analysis, SBI, Kohinoor Business Model
Q: Was the decision to attract ultra HNI customers through a separate dedicated branch a good idea?
A: HNI customers have requirement of privacy, personalised services, and exclusive banking
facilities. The following reasons highlight the need for separate dedicated branch:
It was in keeping with SBI s motto of being the Banker to every Indian . An ultra HNI expects best
and instant service, e.g. banking round the clock. SBI could not have provided the same services at
a branch where non HNI customers also had their accounts, as this would alienate them.

SBI ensured that every HNI customer they attracted was not just someone wealthy, but also socially
responsible. This was the unique feature for this branch.
Employee Selection:
Employees were selected on the basis of their location, keenness, past track records and their ability
to perform. This ensured deliverable, exclusive and round the clock banking services feasible.
Training of staff in Financial Planning and Advisory services was not necessary as Customers
would listen to their own advisors first and then to the new SBI managers. Yet, specialized training
was provided to the Employees in Negotiation skills, Product knowledge and etiquette.
Q: Assume that SBI had a strong intention to roll out Kohinoor style branches, how should it have
approached piloting the concept? What should be aim of such tests?
A: The aim of Kohinoor special branches is to attract Ultra High Net worth Individuals (UHNIs)
in a sustainable manner catering to their specific needs. This pilot project will enable to develop a
competitive as well as profitable model for future rollout in cities where UHNI population is high.
The Framework calls for positioning the banking products and services based on the customer s
need to privacy, personalised services, exclusive banking facilities and even other features that
went beyond banking. Following are the ways by which SBI could roll out Kohinoor style Branches:

Sins of Hester Prynne, Reverend Dimmesdale, and Roger...
The Sins of Hester Prynne, Arthur Dimmesdale, and Roger Chillingworth in The Scarlet Letter
Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter is a study of the effects of sin on the hearts and minds of
the main characters, Hester Prynne, Arthur Dimmesdale, Roger Chillingworth. Hester,
Dimmesdale, and Chillingworth. Sin strengthens Hester, humanizes Dimmesdale, and turns
Chillingworth into a demon.
Hester Prynne s sin was adultery. This sin was regarded very seriously by the Puritans, and was
often punished by death. Hester s punishment was to endure a public shaming on a scaffold for
three hours and wear a scarlet letter A on her chest for the rest of her life in the town. Although

Truth was the one virtue which I might have held fast, and did hold fast, through all extremity save

never good, even though death threaten the other side!
Even though Hester s sin is the one the book is titled after and centered around, it is not nearly
the worst sin committed. Hester learns from her sin, and grows strong, a direct result of her
punishment. The scarlet letter was her passport into regions where other women dared not tread.

The Collapse Of The Space Shuttle Before Columbia
In the year of 2003, on February 1, a tragic accident had occurred in the atmosphere above Texas
as the space shuttle called Columbia was on it s way to land at the Kennedy Space Center. The
shuttle itself was on its 28th mission and was just one of the five space shuttles that was used
amongst NASA. But on this particular day, it wasn t like the rest because astronauts are supposed
to return home safely; that s not what happened on this day. There were seven astronauts that were
inside the shuttle. Their names were Rick Husband, David Brown, Michael Anderson, Laurel Clark,
William McCool, Kalpana Chawla, and Ilan Ramon. They had all died in an explosion within the
shuttle itself.
NASA was trying to figure out how this could ve happened. They ran through many possibilities
of what could ve gone wrong and they came to the conclusion that the reason the shuttle had
exploded when coming through the atmosphere was because a chunk of foam hilt a wing of the
craft. This was suspected to be the reason when tape was analyzed of the takeoff before
Columbia went into space. NASA wanted to know if it was the real reason but didn t want
anyone else to know of the issues besides them. The Department of Defense had asked
permission from the people working for NASA to use orbital spy cameras to analyze the problem.

Disadvantages Of Municipal Fragmentation
Across the globe, governments struggle to sufficiently represent their citizens. The breaking down
of government responsibilities varies between countries, but one aspect that no country can agree
on is what constitutes a municipality and how much responsibility a municipality should have.
Should a cityregion be split into competing small municipalities, or should there be one municipal
governmentfor the entire region? Across Europe following World War II fragmentation due to land
reform was favoured (Jurgenson, 2016, p. 34) whereas now in present day, consolidation seems to
be more desirable by governments seeking to be more cost efficient (Carmichael Midwinter, 1999,
p. 163). As a means to compromise, city regions should be governed by a system that incorporates
both aspects of fragmentation and consolidation. Through the analysis of economic effects,
government issues, and cultural factors I will explore the benefits of municipal fragmentation and
consolidation. A central occupation of a municipalityis the distribution of funds to various services.
Municipalities can face several difficulties in regard to their economy because of their lack of
power and responsibilities. Fragmentation could aid municipalities according to Grassmueck and
Shields (2009) in their study Does government fragmentation enhance or hinder metropolitan
economic growth? that suggests that regions with relatively fragmented governments had stronger

The Stapedial Or Acoustic Reflex ( Ar )
ABSTRACT:
The Stapedial or Acoustic Reflex (AR) is the contraction of the stapedius muscle in response to an
adequately loud sound. Bilateral reflex pathways are involved in this occurrence. The aim of the
study was to compare the test retest variability on an individual, following a short interval, after the
initial test, and also to compare the ARs with pure tone thresholds. The subject had a normal
hearing sensitivity, with bilateral A type tympanogram, which indicated normal functioning of the
middle ear, and bilateral AR thresholds within normal limits. It was delineated that AR was elicited
with requisite intense acoustic signal and this test can be used as a diagnostic tool in collaterally
with pure tone audiometry.
INTRODUCTION:
When a sufficiently intense acoustic signal is presented to either of the ears, stapedius muscle in
both the ears contract, as a response to this sound. This phenomenon is termed as AR.
Stapes, the smallest middle ear ossicle is attached with a small striated muscle (stapedius muscle) on
the side. In response to a loud sound, this muscle contracts, pulling the stapes laterally, which in
turn reduced the force by which the footplate of the stapes propels against the oval window. This
action permits a considerable protection against loud and stable background noise, but not against
sudden loud sounds (e.g.: bomb blast).
There are several theories stating the need for AR.

How is the establishment of innovation procedure done?
All through the vast majority of present day business history, organizations have endeavored to

later, as firms broadened offerings and moved into new districts, an opponent model rose.
Enterprises, for example, General Motors and DuPont made specialty units organized around items

Whitney Houston Hero s Journey Essay
When Whitney Houston decided to be a singer, her mother warned her she d be alone a lot
(Mitchell). Despite this, Houston was able to realize that we all are no matter what we do.
Loneliness is a thing that comes with life. In order to deal with this feeling of isolation that her
mother had warned her about, Houston turned to drugs and a destructive marriage. You d think
that with all her fans and huge career Houston would be happy, but it s easy to tell from her
example that even those who seem the strongest can break into something no one can imagine.
Joseph Campbell first outlined his thoughts of a journey all mythical heroes followed as steps in
1949 and, despite the time difference, these steps can still be compared to the lives of modern
day heroes. From her birth to her death, Houston managed to follow these steps of the Hero s

As described in an article written by Mack LeMouse, a hero is called to adventure by a herald,
which could be a person or an object. This call compels them to leave their normality and venture
into the unknown, causing them to often feel out of place in the new environment. Rather than
being a call that was brought by a herald, Houston was her own herald by producing her call by
herself. Her interest in singing pushed her into wanting to have her own career like her mother.
She was able to start pursuing this call when she was 11 by singing solos as a member of a

experiment plus full knowledge of confirmation bias and the Wason 2 4 6 paradigm will lead to a
higher initial success rate with future testing. A confirmation bias usually occurs when participants
are trying to confirm their beliefs during an experiment. During these experiments, participants
results varied between confirmatory and disconfirmatory. The Tukey HSD that was performed for
the experiments showed some significance in certain areas. For instance, there was a statistical
significancefor the total number of guesses between rule one and rule three. More simply, in the
first experiment the results showed participants used confirmatory method more for rule one than
rule three. For the second experiment participants had more knowledge about the experiment, so
their use of the confirmatory method decreased. However, in the second experiment participants
used disconfirmatory more for rule three than they did in rule one. Furthermore, all the experiments
were similar, because participants had to guess a rule based off a three number sequence.
Additionally, there was a significant interaction between all the rules. According to the results, rule

participants in the first experiment made less guesses than participants in the second experiment.

The Rifle Into The Federal Army
With a new century, came new advancements in technology, and weaponry. Muskets used in the
American Revolutionary War were outdated and inaccurate when it came to the Civil War. The
introduction of the rifle into the Federal Army put the Northern Army leagues ahead of the
Southern Army at the battlefield. Because of the highly industrial based economy in the North, the
usage of rifled bore firearms became widespread in the Federal Army. Moreover, rifles also saw
improvements in loading efficiency, changing the main method of loading to breech loading.
Breech loading a rifle, when compared to the archaic method of ramming the bullet down the barrel
or muzzle loading, greatly reduced the chance of injury caused by the rifle. In... Show more content

This allowed the cylinder of the pistol to spin freely while in half cock, enabling the soldier
/wielder to easily reload whenever he/she felt necessary. With such numerous advantages over the
flintlock pistols , the Colt Revolver essentially revolutionized the way weapons were created and
their mechanisms. In the current day, most firearms operate with a magazine which holds the
bullets that are to be fired from the weapon. Similarly, in the Colt Revolver, there was a cylinder
containing the bullets that were to be shot from the Revolver thereby maximizing the efficiency of
weapons.
In addition to advancements in smaller firearms, the US military also saw improvements in the
sector of long range rifles. Muzzle loading muskets from the Revolutionary War were highly
inefficient and and extremely dangerous to use. When on the battlefield, trying to load a muzzle
loading musket became very complicated. If the soldier loaded a bullet but it got jammed, and
they tried to fire, the musket would explode in their face, causing many unnecessary injuries to
the soldier force (National Park Service, Evolution of the Breechloader ). With the invention of
the breech loader, loading a rifle became exceedingly simple. In a breech loading rifle, the soldier
loads a cartridge containing the bullet and the gunpowder into a chamber. They would then proceed
to fire the weapon. This method of loading a weapon was

Analysis Of How To Close A Gender Gap By Claire Miller

workplace could take notable strides towards eliminating the gender pay gap. Miller cites
research that has concluded the high expectation for extended periods of time to be spent at the
desk working can partly explain the gap because they have disproportionate responsibility (1)
when it comes to taking care of children. This is inopportune for women because they want to be
rewarded for their hard work, and that goal should not be sacrificed by the choice to have a
child. To add to her claim, the author describes a company called Werk that offer flexible hours

Impacts Of Coal Mining On The Environment
Coal mining can have seriously adverse environmental and related impacts, including interference
with groundwater quantity and quality, land subsidence, impacts on river flows and consequential
impact on other land uses, issues associated with mining wastes disposal, creation of geological
hazards . . . and potential ecological havoc (Bian et al., The Impact of Disposal and Treatment of
Coal MiningWastes on Environment and Farmland 1). Coal, a commodity that the world depends
on as a vital economic player and energy resource, is extracted from the ground at a very costly
price to the environment. It is a major energy source that provides about 40% of the electricity that
the world consumes, and the consumption of coal has grown dramatically in recent years. Not only
is coal a major energy producer, but it is also a vital player in many countries economies, employing
millions across the world both directly and indirectly. Unfortunately, since coal is so important to
the economy and energy production, there is often little regard for the impacts that it has on the
environment when being extracted. In broad a generalization, coal miningtechniques can be broken
down into two categories: surface mining and underground mining (the first involving techniques
that stay above ground and the latter using tunneling). Although environmental implications may
vary slightly between the two methods of coal extraction, there are a number of issues that are the
result of both surface

The As A New Way Of Telling Stories
The use of disguises in the arts has been around since the introduction of the theater. When
eighteenth century Britain latched onto the concept in literature, it took on whole different
meanings. Disguises no longer had to be masks or wardrobe changes, they could be taking on
different personas or creating different characters. Disguises had become a staple in literature, and
authors were creating their own worlds with them. In The Imperfect Enjoyment by John Wilmot,
Earl of Rochester, disguises allowed him to create a persona for his work that allows readers to
separate the author from the persona. In Moll Flandersby Daniel Defoe, Defoe acts as both the fake
character of Moll Flanders and fake editor of her autobiography to create a... Show more content on

However, once readers delve into the poem, the persona becomes even more apparent. The
persona in this piece exudes confidence, even in light of not being able to perform. While the
persona continues to get angry and frustrated over the situation, which Rochester writes in ( And
rage at last confirms me impotent, ), there is still the sense that the persona is disguising a
confidence that Rochester himself possesses (Rochester, 2206). For Rochester to take on this
piece and create such an elaborate persona, it shows his level of understanding of the poem, as
well as his education, both of which would give him reason to be confident. By employing this
in the piece, it allows the writers personality to come through, while still proving to readers that
this is in fact just a persona. The most confident aspect of the piece is Rochester s approach to
the female companion. He unconventionally gives her lines in the poem, such as All this to love
and rapture s due; / Must we not pay a debt to pleasure too? , which not only creates the idea that
the persona did not give up in the poem, but that Rochester is confident in his ability to create
something more powerful from the Avid piece for his persona (Rochester, 2206). The persona
created by Rochester in his work allows him to explore subjects without readers linking them to
him. Defoe is able to use disguises

Net Neutrality
Many people worry that without net neutrality, we will lose our freedom.
Net Neutrality is the principle that Internet Service provider s should treat all content on the
internet equally. Most people in the United States of America want to keep net neutrality. However,
the Federal Communications Commission s chairman, Ajit Pai, wants to stop net neutrality, so many
people are protesting to keep net neutrality. Net neutrality promotes innovation and allows freedom,
but is seen as unnecessary by the Federal Communications Commission.
One reasons to keep net neutrality is to promote innovation. People can contribute to science and
discovery when they have full access ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most aspects of net neutrality can be achieved without forced regulations. They say Internet Service
Providers wouldn t want to alter internet content access and speeds anyway. We should trust our
Internet Service Providers. Internet Service Providers are afraid to alter the internet because they
would quickly lose many of their customers. They say net neutrality will disincentivize companies
in low income areas. We need more focus on broadband expansion instead of regulation of
companies; some companies take more bandwidth than others, so having net neutrality overloads
bandwidth on smaller companies that don t need as much. Also, authority should be restored to the
Federal Trade Commission. Internet speeds become overall slower by spreading out bandwidth.
The Federal Communications Commission has multiple reasons for thinking that net neutrality is
unnecessary.
Paragraph one explains how net neutrality promotes innovation. The second paragraph explains
how it protects freedom. Paragraph three explains how the Federal Communications Commission
says net neutrality is unnecessary. Net neutrality promotes innovation and freedom, but the Federal
Communications Commission sees it as an unnecessary addition to an already stable internet. Many
reasons for siding with or against net neutrality have been given to show both sides to net

Statement Of Purpose For Financial Management Accounting
Financial Management Accounting has been developing since the evolution of International
Financial Reporting Standards. The significance of highly qualified management accountants is
crucial for public and private enterprises, developing countries, startups, and others. Personally, I
have chosen Oulu University and Financial Management Accounting due to several reasons that
are based on my experience and motivation. I am a competent candidate for applying to study in
Financial Management Accounting Master s Degree program at Oulu University. The first reason
of applying is to develop the most essential set of skills in order to produce the best results
possible. Some individuals claim that education is an ongoing process from birth till death. It
sounds a bit ruthless, but this is a true claim. The general objective of a management accountant is
to provide decision making information in a certain economic situation; provide justification for a
price increase, forecast and plan different financial results. Therefore, the data that is provided

Why I Want To Be A Drum Major Essay
I, Aislinn Ramos, am applying to be Drum Major for the fall 2016 Maiden Blue Devil marching
season. I want to become Drum Major because I believe I have the ability, willingness, and
support needed to obtain the position and execute my job successfully. Being Drum Major is a
challenge I am willing to take up. In this essay I will go through what a Drum Major is, why I
think I am qualified for the position, and finally what I want to do as Drum Major. A Drum Major
is someone dedicated to the music program in all of its aspects. Marching Bandmust be that person
s number one priority outside of school and their core values(family, religion, etc.). A Drum
Major has leadership abilities and is able to work well with others and is able to convey the needs

The band has progressed immensely since my freshman year and we continue to get bigger each
year and I do not want to lose the principle of the band being a family. I also want to improve the
band s work ethic and emphasize how everyday there can be improvement. When the band feels
as if they have done enough that s when the marching season ends. Other aspects I want to work
on are fundamentals, show music, and pep tunes. Fundamentals need to be ingrained into
everybody s head and show music should be memorized by the beginning of the new school
year. Pep tunes should also be emphasized on; these are the only connection we have with the
rest of the student body and they are what opinions of the band are based on. Many students who
attend football games or pay attention at pep rallies come to me ask if the band is playing or not.
We bring excitement to football games and this is also one of the many ways we represent our
school. I know that with hard work and determination, this year will be the best there has been

The Prioritization Of Project Management
The Prioritization of Projects
Meaning of Priority:
It is relative right of prerequisite to the rare assets. On the off chance that the assets are high there
is no need of prioritize things. Here the assets are the things like time, human assets like staffing,
spot to do work and numerous different assets.
There are two separate ideas of that could be dead set from framework building and administration
of the framework designing activities. In this we have define the particular necessities of the stake
holders what they need and how they are eager to exchange the item in given assets.
Meaning of Decision Making:
A Decision is something that some individual picks the conceivable decisions of his own by
considering the potential outcomes. The entire motivation behind incorporating in the choice
making methodology is to settle on a balanced choice. Sound choice making means an inclination
that is suitable to effectively existing objectives inside the given conditions and compels of the
undertaking.
In project management, decisions are required throughout triple constrains:
Scope (how much functionality, at what quality level, for how many users, etc.)
Schedule ( can activities be crashed , can activities be aligned differently, can provider change its
schedule, can you skip/defer activities , can milestones be missed or eliminated, etc.)
Cost (can a segment of work be allowed to come in over cost; can you reduce the cost of a segment;
can you afford a scope change etc.)

Different Types Of Covalent Bonds
A noncovalent bond is very weak but it is necessary to form the shape of DNA. The 4 different
types of covalent bonds are: electrostatic interactions, hydrogen bonds, van der Waals interactions,
and hydrophobic interactions. They are very different in their strength, specificity, geometry, and
the way they are affected by water. Electrostatic interactions occur when a charged group on one
molecule interacts with an oppositely charged group on a different molecule. Coloumb s law gives
the energy of an electrostatic interaction in the following equation: E=kq1q2/Dr. In this equation,
the E represents the energy, the q values represent the charges on the 2 different atoms, the r
represents the distance between those 2 different atoms,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, an atom that has a partial negative charge can bond with a hydrogen atom.
Van der Waals interactions are based upon the distribution of the electronic charge around an atom
because it fluctuates over time. Therefore, at any given time, the distribution of the charge is not
perfectly symmetric. This lack of symmetry acts to induce a lack of symmetry in the distribution of
the electrons with an atom that is next to it. Then, the atoms attract each other. The attraction
increases as they get closer and close together, until they become separated by something called the
contact distance. If the distance between 2 atoms becomes shorter than the contact distance, the
outer electron clouds of the 2 atoms overlap, and very strong repulsive forces dominate. Van der
Waals interactions are associated with energies that are actually quite small.
The hydrophobic effect very clearly displays the properties of water. Nonpolar molecules are not
able to participate in ionic interactions, or even in hydrogen bonding. The interactions between
water molecules and nonpolar molecules are not as favorable as the interactions between the water
molecules with each other. The water molecules form cages around the nonpolar molecules when
they are interacting with each other. But, some of the water molecules are released when 2 of the
nonpolar molecules are interacting with each other. The water molecules being released

Essay on How Heros and Villains Have Envolved Since...
Everyone has a different perspective today about heroes and villains than what they thought back in
the ancient times. During the ancient times, the Greek concept of a hero was different from our
own cultures. As the years passed, the overall concept of what a hero changed dramatically then
what they thought years ago. A herois a literary figure, of course, but here, too, we need caution so
that we don t misapply our own cultural ideas and standards to the ancient Greek hero.
You may ask, what is a hero? How can you describe a villain? But everyone will have a different
answer to these questions. We all have different points of views on what a hero or a villain can be.

Particle Fever Essay
Particle fever is movie about a single experiment, which lasted 19 long years and consisted of
10,000 hardworking and dedicated scientist. The whole experiment was to find a particle called
the Higgs Boson. The Higgs Boson was a particle that most scientist thought held all things of the
world together, to prove this theory that they had made the scientist had to conduct a thorough
experiment. For scientist to begin the experiment they had to collect and test different parts of
data using the LHC which was a machine that produced different elements to see if the Higgs
were even real or not. The LHC was the World s largest and most expensive machine. The LHC
was made up of seven ton electromagnets, and the purpose was to compare protons to the speed of
lighting. There are four points in the LHC which are LHCB, ATLAS, CHS, and Alice. At each

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was stated that the Higgs mass was 125 GEV. The crowd at
the conference and Peter Higgs were the happiest people alive. Since the Higgs mass was
between 115 GEV and 140 GEV the scientist thought that they could prove that the Higgs was the
last piece of data they needed to say that the Higgs was a God particle and it was the particle that
made the world what it is today. After everything the LHC will be closed and shut off and after
two years goes by will be running at full power instead of half power. Scientists hoped to get
even better results than they did the first time with running the LHC. The experiment was a
huge success. There was a 20,000 prize and a Nobel Prize awarded to David Kaplan, Peter
Higgs, and Mark Levinson at the conclusion of the filming of the movie, which lasted from 2008
to 2012. The movie was not actually released until the year 2014. Many scientist today still try to

Video Games And Its Effects On The Media
Introduction
Many studies suggest that violent video games contribute to the aggressions of video games
players. Today over 85% of video games contained violence, and the rest have explicit content like
sex, drugs, and disregard to human life (Carnagey, Anderson, Bushman, 2007). Someone who is
new to video games is exposing themselves to violence, and for many the general concern comes
from being influence from such games. For example, video games first influence school shooting
that first started in West Paducah, Kentucky in 1997, Jonesboro, Arkansas in 1998, Springfield,
Oregon in 1998, etc. Making by example the violent nature of video games (Anderson, 2004). That

Although the research literature on violent video games is a recent phenomenon, there s has been
little funding for such research (Anderson, 2004). Also taking into account a meta analysis of
published and unpublished studies reveal they may be some levels of bias between video games
and violence than disconfirming studies (Decamp, 2015). The negative views the public has of
video games has increased the connotation that violent video games act as murder simulators, or
that games are gateways for young children to learn to kill. Linking this medium to deadly assaults,
and criminalizing the youth (Markey, Markey, French, 2015). One method game researchers use to
overcome the limitations of past research is by using PSM (propensity score matching) a statistical
method use to estimate the outcomes of a treatment. The results show the comparison of violent
video games effects with environmental effects, and social risks. The relationship between the
player and their family helps evaluates these behaviors such as violence in home, school, parental
attachment, and close supervision (Decamp, 2015).
In 1972 the Surgeon General issue a warning that correlates the relationship between media violence
and antisocial behavior, and that it requires immediate action. During the past when video games
were first introduced, researcher s studied the relationship between violent media and aggression.

Why The Drinking Age Should Be Illegal
Over 70% of teenagers by age 18 have illegally had at least one drink, if not many more. I can say
from being in school and the social scene, I know many more people my age that have had
drinks illegally, than people who have not. I think the main reason for this is because we are
told we can t. Teenagers, and humans in general do a lot of things just to rebel. It gives a sense
of thrill in our stressful lives and environments. So instead of punishing it, we should legalize it
and educate minors on how to drink responsibly. The idea may come off as naive and unrealistic,
but look at the rest of the world and how many countries allow a younger drinking age. I have been
traveling around Europe for the past few months and I have learned some things

Canto 3 Of The Inferno Essay
Hell, the fiery eternal abyss has had profound influence on almost every aspect in our modern
world. Paintings and sculpture have been great tools to help us envision the realm of suffering.
One of these great sculptures is called the Gates of Hell, created by Auguste Rodin who was
influenced by Dante Alighieri s, Inferno. In the beginning of Canto 3 of the Inferno, Dante and
Virgil are about to walk through the gates to the underworld. Although the entrance is referred to as
an arch in the Inferno this gave Rodin a blank slate to work with. Auguste Rodinwas older when he
started this sculpture and passed away before he could finish. His Gates have about two hundred
miniature sculptures attached all around and on the doors to depict the torments souls were
condemned too. A few of these individual sculptures were recreated on a larger scale because they
were controversial masterpieces such as the Thinker, The Kiss, and the Sinner. Rodin worked on
this sculpture as a commission for a museum but those plans fell through. It didn t stop Rodin
from working on the sculpture for 37 years to see his vision complete. Now, although Rodin s
sculpture was to depict hell and the tormented, I found a different interpretation of the sculpture. I
believe rather than being a depiction of Hell, the Gates of Hell sculpture appears to be a tragic
insight of lost love because of the romance in the sculpture that create scenes of grieving by the
Thinker. When the individual pieces are analyzed

Influence Of Modern Western Government
Their political structure has influenced modern Western government. The Roman language, Latin,
is the root of many other languages like English, Spanish, and French.
The Roman Empire (cont.)
Formation After the fall of the Qin Dynasty in 207 B.C., 18 separate political forces proclaimed
their independence, but the Han and Chu were the most powerful out of them. In 202 B.C., Liu
Bang won the Chu Han Contention and found the Han dynasty, which ruled China for the next 400
years.
Cultural Traditions Taoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism were introduced during this era.
Education became important as schools were built everywhere. Public school was started and
reserved for boys to learn new skills for free. Painting and calligraphy were now seen as forms of
art and not as ways of making signs and letters. The invention of paper made it easier for scholars
to record their ideas, thus leading to the boom in literature. Following the introduction of loom, silk
soon became an important part of the Han culture and economy

  • 3. Review Of The Kitab Al Fihrist Early references[edit] In 988 Ibn al Nadim compiled the Kitab al Fihrist which mentions Jabir as a spiritual follower and as a companion to Jafar as Sadiq, the sixth Shia Imam. In another reference al Nadim reports that a group of philosophers claimed Jabir was one of their own members. Another group, reported by al Nadim, says only The Large Book of Mercy is genuine and that the rest are pseudographical. Their assertions are rejected by al Nadim.[9] Joining al Nadim in asserting a real Jabir; Ibn Wahshiyya ( Jaber ibn Hayyn al Sufi ...book on poison is a great work... ) Rejecting a real Jabir; (the philosopher c. 970) Abu Sulayman al Mantiqi claims the real author is one al Hasan ibn al Nakad al Mawili. He began his career practicing medicine, under the patronage of a Vizir (from the noble Persian family Barmakids) of Caliph Harun al Rashid. His connections to the Barmakid cost him dearly in the end. When that family fell from grace in 803, Jabir was placed under house arrest in Kufa, where he remained until his death. It has been asserted that Jabir was a student of the sixth Imam Ja far al Sadiq and Harbi al Himyari;[9][17] however, other scholars have questioned this theory.[18] The Jabirian corpus[edit] An illustration of the various experiments and instruments used by Jabir Ibn Hayyan. In total, nearly 3,000 treatises and articles are credited to Jabir ibn Hayyan.[19] Following the pioneering work of Paul Kraus, who demonstrated that a corpus of some several hundred works ascribed to JДЃbir were probably a medley from different hands,[11]:3[20] mostly dating to the late 9th and early 10th centuries, many scholars believe that many of these works consist of commentaries and additions by his followers,[citation needed] particularly of an Ismaili persuasion.[21] The scope of the corpus is vast: cosmology, music, medicine, magic, biology, chemical technology, geometry, grammar, metaphysics, logic, artificial generation of living beings, along with astrological predictions, and symbolic ImГўmГ® myths.[11]:5 The 112 Books ... • 4. Characteristics Of Esther One of the wonders of the Christian faith is the people it produces and their determination to do what is right in the eyes of God, no matter the risks. Throughout the old testament, there are numerous accounts of specific people that show a great amount of faith in God and believe in his divinity; of these many examples, one of the greatest people that come to mind is Esther, who can be described with three Godly traits. Furthermore, the traits that Esther possesses, modesty, self control, and being hidden, along with many others make her the prime example of what it means to be devoted to God. She was chosen to be brought to the palace, taken from her former life, and pampered into a beauty fit for a queen; but what made Esther special to the king and everyone around her was not her beauty, but rather her clear devotion to God and the higher purpose she possessed. Esther is what people, both men and women, should strive to be, possessing these traits and focusing on what is important: inner beauty through God. The first trait that will be discussed is the trait of modesty. Modesty is something that is important to God and it is an important factor in the Christian faith. Therefor, Esther s display of modesty offers an example of her devotion to God. An example of Esther s modesty can be found during her time preparing to become the queen. The former Queen had promoted a much more brazen style and was not afraid to let her body be seen; this, of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Ideology Of Punk Rock Ideology What is punk rock? How many people know the real definition? Punk rocks values, attitude, and ideologies? Punk rock isn t just a style or a scene but a way of life. It all started in the late 1970s, originating from the working class angst and frustrations many youth were feeling about the economic inequality. One of punks main oppositions was rejection of mainstream, corporate mass culture and its values. It continued to evolve its ideology of anti racist and anti sexist belief systems as the movement spread from its origins in England and New York to Northern America. The attitude common in the subculture is the resistance to selling out, which means abandoning one s values and changing in musical style toward pop to embrace anything that s mainstream capitalist culture in the exchange for money, status, or power. Punk rocks common thinking wasn t only anti authoritarism, and not selling out but also non conformity, direct action, and a DIY ethic. The DIY attitude was pointed towards stepping forward and speaking without any restraint. To fight with warrior qualities to achieve what you were striving for. The kind of thinking and motives for punk rocksubjects was to not settle for what society made acceptable and standard but to think and work outside of the box that was holding them in. Punk rock ideologies were expressed though music and lyrics, punk literature, fashion and visual art. In the beginning punk fashionevolved everyday objects like safety pins and ... In which Scalia was an extremely important player for the conservative party and wrote many well known, important and wonderfully well worded opinions on many cases the Supreme Court decided during his service as an Associate Justice. Scalia came from a small family in New Jersey with an Italian heritage. Throughout his youth he developed strong conservative views that guided his decisions through life and that ultimately led him to the Supreme Court where he helped shape the legal world with his opinions and dissents. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scalia argues that the Constitution should not be interpreted too strictly or too leniently, but reasonably. Scalia argues that being a textualist is essentially interpreting the Constitution for what it says, not what they think it was trying to say. Scalia believes that interpreting the Constitution for what the framers meant it to say. However, he also believed that being a good textualist required not being too literal. If someone simply takes everything the Constitution says as gospel with no form of interpretation at all then it would constrict progress. The world today is extremely different compared to the world that the framers lived in when they wrote the Constitution. Which is why the sweet spot of textualism has to be found, not too literal and not too lenient either. Scalia also brings forth a counter to the argument against textualism, the one which he claims to be the most mindless, and that is that textualism is formalistic. Scalia says that of course it is formalistic because law revolves around formalism. Formalism is what makes a government a government of laws and not of men, says Scalia. Textualism is what Scalia based his interpretation of the Constitution and statutes on and this is quite evident in many of his famous opinions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Stigmatization Of Madness In Don Quixote Our delight in or respect for his madness and its wonderful connections to the imagination does not take away from our genuine pain at his humiliation. Though Don Quixote is humiliated on every page of the book, it is only in this п¬Ѓnal humiliation when he becomes a rational observer of his past insane life and views it with profound regret that we actually enter into real sympathetic pain with him. Until this point, he is an object of our mirth. Once he becomes aware that his perception of reality was in error and that his actions were, therefore, not a product of his autonomous self, we feel genuine compassion for him. His realization that his hyper vigilance about his dignity as a knight errant was delusional is a serious indignity for him. He has been in error about reality, and everyone has known it except for him. People have gone along with him in a patronizing way. In Cervantes s Don Quixote, we can see remarkably clear pictures of both the kind of unfair stigmatization of madness that McKay and Mitchell decry and the essentially demeaning nature of insanity to which Gardner and Macklem draw our attention. Don Quixote is treated with astounding cruelty. He is made an object of ridicule and trickery by almost everyone he meets. As Nietzsche says: Today we read Don Quixote with a bitter taste in our mouths, almost with a feeling of torment, and would thus seem very strange and incomprehensible to its author and his contemporaries: they read it with the clearest ... Though Coles and Woolworths are still the largest retailers, others like Aldi have made its way in increasing its market share. At the same time, local convenience stores still continue to function throughout Australia. It indeed comes to one s mind as to what are the factors that are contributing to such consumer behaviour; whether it is some special skills of the local convenience stores or whether the prices offered are better (which seems like a less possible scenario) or is it just the convenience of the stores being located nearby which makes such model operational even in the wake of intense competition between the majors and addition of online capacity by new entrants. The breaking down of government responsibilities varies between countries, but one aspect that no country can agree on is what constitutes a municipality and how much responsibility a municipality should have. Should a cityregion be split into competing small municipalities, or should there be one municipal governmentfor the entire region? Across Europe following World War II fragmentation due to land reform was favoured (Jurgenson, 2016, p. 34) whereas now in present day, consolidation seems to be more desirable by governments seeking to be more cost efficient (Carmichael Midwinter, 1999, p. 163). As a means to compromise, city regions should be governed by a system that incorporates both aspects of fragmentation and consolidation. Through the analysis of economic effects, government issues, and cultural factors I will explore the benefits of municipal fragmentation and consolidation. • 21. The Stapedial Or Acoustic Reflex ( Ar ) ABSTRACT: The Stapedial or Acoustic Reflex (AR) is the contraction of the stapedius muscle in response to an adequately loud sound. Bilateral reflex pathways are involved in this occurrence. The aim of the study was to compare the test retest variability on an individual, following a short interval, after the initial test, and also to compare the ARs with pure tone thresholds. The subject had a normal hearing sensitivity, with bilateral A type tympanogram, which indicated normal functioning of the middle ear, and bilateral AR thresholds within normal limits. It was delineated that AR was elicited with requisite intense acoustic signal and this test can be used as a diagnostic tool in collaterally with pure tone audiometry. INTRODUCTION: When a sufficiently intense acoustic signal is presented to either of the ears, stapedius muscle in both the ears contract, as a response to this sound. This phenomenon is termed as AR. Stapes, the smallest middle ear ossicle is attached with a small striated muscle (stapedius muscle) on the side. In response to a loud sound, this muscle contracts, pulling the stapes laterally, which in turn reduced the force by which the footplate of the stapes propels against the oval window. This action permits a considerable protection against loud and stable background noise, but not against sudden loud sounds (e.g.: bomb blast). Prior to Waxco s arrival, the businesses in Lacon were traveling 70 miles round trip to purchase cleaning products. Waxco did not offer better pricing, nor did they pitch sales gimmicks; their competitive advantage was a much needed delivery service. If the company requesting service from Waxco operated within a 15 mile radius of the warehouse, delivery was free and estimated at 20 minutes. Any company up to 15 miles outside of the aforestated coverage area was assessed a fee. As of late, Waxco has been accumulating negative feedback on its delivery service. The 20 minute expected time of arrival has extended to more than 45 minutes. Using the 7 tools of quality, Waxco can pinpoint the source of the cause and issue a remedy for the delivery setback. The 7 tools of quality, provide a simple, yet strong method for collecting, analyzing and visualizing information from various views (Schule, 2014). When eighteenth century Britain latched onto the concept in literature, it took on whole different meanings. Disguises had become a staple in literature, and authors were creating their own worlds with them. In The Imperfect Enjoyment by John Wilmot, Earl of Rochester, disguises allowed him to create a persona for his work that allows readers to separate the author from the persona. For Rochester to take on this piece and create such an elaborate persona, it shows his level of understanding of the poem, as well as his education, both of which would give him reason to be confident. By employing this in the piece, it allows the writers personality to come through, while still proving to readers that this is in fact just a persona. The most confident aspect of the piece is Rochester s approach to the female companion. He unconventionally gives her lines in the poem, such as All this to love and rapture s due; / Must we not pay a debt to pleasure too? , which not only creates the idea that the persona did not give up in the poem, but that Rochester is confident in his ability to create something more powerful from the Avid piece for his persona (Rochester, 2206). The 4 different types of covalent bonds are: electrostatic interactions, hydrogen bonds, van der Waals interactions, and hydrophobic interactions. They are very different in their strength, specificity, geometry, and the way they are affected by water. Electrostatic interactions occur when a charged group on one molecule interacts with an oppositely charged group on a different molecule. Coloumb s law gives the energy of an electrostatic interaction in the following equation: E=kq1q2/Dr. In this equation, the E represents the energy, the q values represent the charges on the 2 different atoms, the r represents the distance between those 2 different atoms,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, an atom that has a partial negative charge can bond with a hydrogen atom. Van der Waals interactions are based upon the distribution of the electronic charge around an atom because it fluctuates over time. Therefore, at any given time, the distribution of the charge is not perfectly symmetric. This lack of symmetry acts to induce a lack of symmetry in the distribution of the electrons with an atom that is next to it. Then, the atoms attract each other. The attraction increases as they get closer and close together, until they become separated by something called the contact distance. If the distance between 2 atoms becomes shorter than the contact distance, the outer electron clouds of the 2 atoms overlap, and very strong repulsive forces dominate. Van der Waals interactions are associated with energies that are actually quite small. The hydrophobic effect very clearly displays the properties of water. Nonpolar molecules are not able to participate in ionic interactions, or even in hydrogen bonding. The interactions between water molecules and nonpolar molecules are not as favorable as the interactions between the water molecules with each other. The water molecules form cages around the nonpolar molecules when they are interacting with each other. But, some of the water molecules are released when 2 of the nonpolar molecules are interacting with each other. The water molecules being released ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
