5. RECOMMENDED ACTIONS WHEN
TAKING BODY FOR BURIAL
For burial, the body should be taken to the grave in
stages. Before reaching the grave, the body should be
placed on the ground, then raised. This is repeated
3 times, each time bringing it closer to the grave.
Why stop 3 times?
The soul is nervous and scared of being buried
under the ground. So for this reason, the body is
slowly brought to the grave in stages, so the soul
can get some relief

TALQIN means to teach or remind.
During TALQIN, the dead-body is taught the correct answers to the questions which will be asked in the grave.
During TALQIN, the dead person is addressed by his/her name three times and asked to listen and understand
WHEN IS TALQIN RECITED?
When the body is placed in the grave, a close family person or the one
reciting, holds the right shoulder of the dead body with his right hand
and his left hand tightly on the body’s left shoulder and draw his face
close to the ear of the dead body. Then, while shaking shoulders of the
dead body, he should say thrice: “Isma' ifham ya… (name of marhum)
(Listen and understand, O’……(name of marhum)
Talqin is recited again after all those who have attended the funeral have left. The
family representative or appointed person should recite TALQIN
7. Question: How can a dead-body hear
Talqin! Talqin is recited in Arabic
language. How can a non-Arab dead-body
understand it?
Answer: So long as the soul is in a body, it
requires ears to hear, and eyes to see. But as
soon as it is free from the shackles of the
body, it hears, sees and feels independently,
without needing any of the organs.
The language of the here after is Arabic; and
as soon as one dies, he /she understands this
language.

Friday, he/she will remain safe from the squeezing in the grave
Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (as) that whoever recites Surah ZUKHRUF will be saved
from the insects & scorpions in the grave and will not undergo the
squeezing in the grave.
If sura Mulk is recited on a person who has just died, his soul gets immediate
relief. If memorized, this Surah Mulk acts as a protection from the torment of
the grave, and it intercedes on behalf of the one who has memorized it on the
