How Does Steinbeck Make Life Changing Decisions
Have you ever faced a life changing decision? Have you ever felt like if you make the wrong
decision then your life is over? Kino from The Pearl by John Steinbeck has, he was not only
challenged with a life changing decision he also felt that his decision might have been the wrong
one. Dominic from the movie War Dance has had to make some very, very hard life changing
decisions in his life and regrets many of them but he turned his life around, but still lives with the
pain that he had caused.

Essay of Comparison between The Tiger and The Lamb, poems...
Essay of Comparison between The Tiger and The Lamb, poems by William Blake
The Tiger and The Lamb were poems by William Blake, a poet who lived in the 18th century. In
this essay I am going to compare the two poems and examine links between them relating to
rhymes, patterns and words used.
Blake s background relates on the poems he wrote, and many of his works reflected his early
home life. Blake in his childhood was an outcast, a loner, and didn t have many friends. His family
believed very strongly in God and were extremely pious Christians but did not agree with the
teachings of the church, so young William Blake often was made to think about God and his
teachings during his studies.
Because his parents were rebels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Lamb the poem is mainly very well structured and flows. In the first verse it has the
questions and in the second verse it has all the answers. If you were only to look at the poem
briefly you would believe it was a children s poem, a hopscotch poem or playground chant, until
you remember that Blake could not have known these as he did not attend school. The reader
would think this because of the simple vocabulary, and also if you notice, the poem uses soft
alliteration little lamb this gave a much softer feel to the poem, obviously putting one in mind of
children and their innocence.
Blake was a very holy and pious person. He often out biblical discourse into many of his poems,
as I have stated before. I found some plain biblical tones in The Lamb the next quotation shows
this point. He is meek, and he is mild . . . became a little child .
This quotation is from the New Testament, where God was forgiving, whereas in the Old Testament
God was believed to punish people for their sins i.e. Noah and the Ark, in which God drowns the
entire human race apart from Noah and his family. The fact that there is biblical content in The
Lamb is inspiring and was maybe meant to give a sense of hope. The lack of biblical discussion in
The Tiger gives the reader a sense of lack if reprieve, lack of hope and a sense of the
prison of the world and all

Evaluating The Merits And Demerits Of Fixed And Floating...
Evaluate the merits and demerits of fixed and floating exchange rate regimes. Provide examples
to support your arguments. I. Intro Floating exchange rates and fixed exchange rates each
provide distinct advantages and disadvantages for a given regime. In any given state of the global
economy, one given country may be better suited for one system. But there are a number of
factors that influence this, and there is therefore no universal correct system for all international
economies. I will discuss the merits and demerits of a floating exchange rate, providing the
examples of the US Government response to the 2008 financial crisis and the excessive
speculation that led to the 1929 stock market crash. These examples will illustrate a time when the
US economy benefitted due to a floating exchange rate and a time when the US economy suffered
due to a floating exchange rate. I will then provide a similar analysis for the fixed exchange rate
using the same example of the dangers of speculation regarding the 1929 financial crash and the
emerging market crisis of Argentina in 2001. As mentioned before, there is no universal solution to
the monetary policy governing exchange rates. A general rule, however, is that floating exchange
rates provide a country with more adaptability and independence in fluctuating international
economic circumstances. But they can lead to instability, needlessly expansionary policy and
excessive speculation. Fixed exchange rates, in contrast, are

A Swedish Music Streaming Website
Spotify is a Swedish music streaming website that hosts music from record labels and musicians.
The website contains albums, track lists and singles that can be played from the website. Music
can be browsed on the website by artist, song, genre, or record label. Spotify was launched back
in 2008, by a start up called Spotify AB. As of last year, Spotify had about 75 million active users
on their website. The first most important event in launching the website was that the ideas for it
started back in 2006. While the website was officially launched in October 2008, they had free

In March 2012, Spotify removed a feature that non U.S. residents couldn t play a song more
than five times but the restriction continued in the United Kingdom and in France. What makes
Spotify different from other programs is that it allows you to access 20 million songs that you
can stream on your computer and play. The basic services are free while the premium gives the
more advanced features. Spotify provides more access to thousands of albums and artists and
allows people to listen to some of their favorite songs for free. It has changed the way music
platforms are hosted on the internet and provides easier access to artist s music online. A
strategy that Spotify uses to help achieve their position is by selling premium services to people
and using advertisements from third parties. If people enjoy the website enough, they will pay to
get even better services from the website. They also offer to pay artists and copyright holders
royalties if they stream their music on the website. This helps them get their revenue. The
company pays 70% of revenue to the copyright holders. Spotify tries to push for people to pay for
the music which is the source of most of their revenue. The subscription usually removes
advertisements and limits on the songs. It also allows free phone usage, offline and online. In
2012, a report declared that Spotify lost $59 million in revenue costs due to high staffing costs,

Implementation Of The Information Security Management System
Introduction: International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 27002 defines information as
an asset that may exist in many forms and has value to an organization.
Information Technology (IT) security governance is the system by which an organization directs
and controls IT security (adapted from ISO 38500).
Successful implementation of the information security management system (ISMS) is governed by
analyzing security requirements to protect organizational information assets and apply appropriate
security controls to ensure their protection (ISO/IEC 27000:2012, 2012).
The main purpose of Information Security Governance (ISG) is to protect against risks and manages

Analysis Of The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee
Growth and Acceptance The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee was done wonderfully
and quite entertaining. While a musical about a spelling bee does not sound like the most
exciting thing to watch, the performances by each actor provided a great atmosphere for the
production. Going into the play, I was expecting it to be a kid s show, which kids would enjoy
the musical but may not quite get all of the jokes. The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee was
more aimed at adults. Every adult that was watching the play, myself included, was rolling out
of their seats. The play managed to be engaging and funny throughout the entire play. Within the
play, each actor has a different background story. Each actor in the play, plays a big role and
stood out in their own specific way. Also, this specific play differs from the other plays we have
seen but it has few similarities. Beginning, the 25TH Annual Putnam Spelling Bee play overall is
a musical comedy. The play was more fast paced, more laughing was involved and much more
singing. Which led to the play in particular being quite more engaging than others. The production
in this play differed from the other plays we ve seen. The audience interaction was the best part of
the production. One difference to me is the play involved four people from the audience to
participate as actors in the play. Not knowing exactly what their purpose is in the play, just
generously volunteering as a spelling bee contestant. Another aspect that differed

Dangers Of Male Dominance In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The...
In Nathaniel Hawthorne s short story, The Birthmark, he touches on the dangers of traditional
male dominance within Aylmer and Georgiana s marriage and how this confronts Aylmer s overall
masculinity, as well as identifies the reflection of a male ideal of femininity. Not only does this
masculine facade shape Georgiana s sexuality, but also it allows Aylmer to ultimately be able to
live his life governed by sameness which he feels he can control through Georgiana s feminine
Nature itself. Hawthorne uses The Birthmark, not just as a story about the flawed and imperfect
nature of women, but mainly of a story about the sickness of Aylmer, and how the great American
dream of eliminating women is essentially a demonstration that the only... Show more content on

Aylmer s character, the man of science, is initially introduced as the pale philosopher who seems to
be so dedicated to his love of science that he believes he possibly possessed this degree of faith in
man s ultimate control over Nature (Hawthorne 28). Almost immediately, Aylmer pronounces his
masculinity and dominance over Georgiana and her feminine nature when he mentions if it had
ever occurred to her to have this odious hand removed from her face. The desire of removing this
crimson hand from Georgiana s face dictates Aylmer intently, even causing him to have dreams of
the birthmark because the mind is in a sad state when Sleep (Hawthorne 31). Until then, Aylmer
wasn t aware of the tyrannizing influence of the crimson hand, and how it put him in this sad state,
yet this problematic birthmark ultimately causes him to feel the need to express his masculinity
over Georgiana throughout the rest of the short story. This emphasizes Aylmer s character s need
for control over Georgiana indefinitely. We see Aylmer s character being moved to this situation,
not because of the vision of Georgiana s potential perfection, but by his horror at her present
condition; Aylmer s compulsion to perfect Georgiana is a result of his horrified perception of what
she actually is, and all lofty talk about wanting her to be perfect so that just this once the potential
of Nature will be fulfilled is but a cover for his central emotion of revulsion (Fetterley). Since this
definition of masculinity is essentially a reflection of the male ideal of femininity, this threatens
Aylmer and causes him to become resentful of feminine Nature, which can govern all beings, unlike
his scientific experiments. This, in turn, makes Aylmer fundamentally less than women, which
undermines his masculinity even more

Growth Theories Of Growth And Growth Models
Growth Theories
Under the growth theories some theories of growth and growth models will be reviewed;
i) The Harrod Domar Growth Model
In economic literature, this model is called capital only model. Harrod and Domar (1948) took
over from Rostow, because Rostow had some unanswered questions. The model stated that saving
is a certain proportion of national income and net investment is defined as the change in capital
stock (K). The model further assumes that there is some direct relationship between the size of the
capital stock, (K), and total GNP, (Y). This follows that any addition to the capital stock in the form
of new investment will bring about corresponding increase in the flow of national output, GNP.
This relationship is known in economics as the capital output ratio. If the capital output ratio is
defined as k and assume further that the national savings ratio, s, is a fixed proportion of national
output (e.g. 6%) and that total new investment is determined by the level of total savings, we can
construct the following simple model of economic growth Balami (2006).
Savings (S) is some proportion, S, of national income (Y) such that we have the simple equation
S = SY ....................................................................................... (2.1)
Net investment (I) is defined as the change in the capital stock, K, and can be represented by О”K
such that
I = О”K ...................................................................................... (2.2)
But because the total capital stock, K, bears a direct relationship to total national income or output,
Y, as

Yoga and meditation may primarily be paths to inner contemplation and enlightenment, but they
have several physical and psychological benefits too. For those over 40, spending time on the mat
can rejuvenate the body and mind in several ways. Let s take a look at five of these.
#1 YogaHelps You Sleep Better

Where Do You Start?
If you aren t all that enthusiastic about twisting yourself into a pretzel, don t worry. Hatha yoga
and asanas aren t the last word on the yogic path. There are several online, guided meditations you
could begin with instead. Isha Kriya is a popular option, and takes about 12 minutes to complete.
The UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center has a list of guided meditations too, though they
are audio only modules.
There are also a few general guidelines that will ensure you get the most out of your practice.
Wear Loose fitting Clothes
Skip the skin tights and figure hugging stuff and choose something which gives your body room.
Tight clothes can be a distraction while you are meditating or practicing and could end up playing
spoilsport with the whole experience. Organic garments are generally recommended by most texts

Putting Don Carlos Together Again Analysis
The article, Putting Don Carlos Together Again: Treatment of head injury in sixteenth century
written by L.J. Andrew Villalon tells the story behind the treatment of Philip II s son, Don Carlos.
The article begins by explaining the details of the incident that almost caused the prince s death.
The author then goes into a more deeply examination of the treatment itself; he explains the ways
in which the physicians took care of the situation and the reaction of the prince. The author talks
about the reaction not only from the king but also from the community of Alcala. One of the main
topics of the article is how many writers of the time, portrayed the injury of Don Carlos. And how
this image persisted so much that it influenced the way in which the community of Alcala and even
in modern times we observe the life of Don Carlos. After giving the details of the injury, the author
explains the interaction between the physicians, who took care of the man who was supposed to be
the king of Spain. He tells the readers how Philip and his advisors gathered the most respectful and
well known doctors of the time, which among them were Dr. Vesalius and Dr. Daza Chacon. As the
author explains, at the beginning of the injury the relationship between the doctors was healthy, the
only issue between them was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the author implies, the life of Don Carlos was more a superstition than an actual life. Villalon also

Design Proposal Report For Fatigue Monitoring System
Design Proposal Report for
Fatigue Monitoring System (FMS)
By Alvin Kuan, Sarah Fink, Shian Su and Suliman Altaleb
1. Abstract
This paper presents some background briefing, implantation, ethical responsibility, and action plan
of FMS design plan. FMS is a model purposely designed to detect and measure fatigue variables,
i.e., blinking rate, yawning rate and head tilt for fatigue predictions. In addition, FMS will
establish a crude estimate of fatigue and warns the user if a threshold has been exceeded. This
FMS will provide real time measurements of fatigue which, if integrated with good risk
management practice, will result in reduced and controlled recurrence of serious safety incidents.
The focus the project is to understand and appreciate the essential components in designing
successful and commercially viable device. This system employs non invasive electrodes which
are positioned specifically for each of blinking and yawning tests in order to attain
electrocardiogram signals accordingly. FMS is also able to detect head nodding patterns via a gyro
sensor specifically located to monitor axial coordination of head.
1. Background
Fatigue results in an impaired decision making and judgment, slowed reflexes and responses,
absent mindedness, memory lapses etc. Fatigue is often a root cause of major accidents. Fatigue
is believed to be the reason of more than 20% of road fatalities in Victoria Fatigue related accidents

The Current Pressurized Oxygen Tension Based Indices Response
In this thesis, I have attempted to further explore the nature of the current utilised oxygen tension
based indices response, with a view to its use as a tool to assess the pulmonary oxygenation in
critically ill patients. Furthermore, this thesis developed a new index to assess pulmonary
oxygenation. This topic was explored with external pulmonary factors to quantify oxygenation
defect through a maze of mathematics, different diseases, and pathophysiology. There was one or
two ways that could lead us to the answer and many dead end routes. Ultimately, the research
produced an equation that was more robust than the PaO2/FiO2 ratio in terms of less variation. The
first chapter described two different types of oxygen indices and its use. The second chapter
described the medical simulator in general and the Nottingham Physiology Simulator (NPS) in
particular. In chapter three, we examined the variation of certain oxygen indices with changes in the
following external physiological factors (FIO2, Hb, RQ, and VO2) without changing the pulmonary
configuration status. This investigation was done with ARDS simulated patients using a validated
NPS model. The study demonstrates that the external physiological factors induced a remarkable
variation in comparing to oxygen indices, and the use of each index depends on the type of the
external physiological factors. However, we conclude that clinicians should be aware of using the
best index according to patient s status. Accordingly,

Theme Of Coming Of Age In Catcher In The Rye
The main character of J.D. Salinger s novel, The Catcher in the Rye, Holden Caulfield is only in
his teens, attending High School, yet longs for his early childhood. He can be seen trying to hold
onto the past by acting various ways. The author, meanwhile, uses symbolism to demonstrate the
effects of a loss of innocence, and the effects of coming of age. J.D. Salinger s novel The Catcher
in the Rye shows, through moderately relatable eyes, the changes and realities that we must all
accept, and what we must lose as we all come of age, taking a step into the adult world.
Analyzing Holden s character as for a biography, the reader will likely conclude that he acts no
better than a hyperactive child; with little in the way of understanding the fact that all actions
come with consequences. There is what he likes which seems to be little and what he dislikes
which he often proceeds to call phony. His vocabulary is limited, vernacular simple, phrases
repetitious, and he frequently moves to tangents; Holden acts as a child would. He has held onto
what he perceives children doing, saying, thinking, and has incorporated that into himself. This is

Effects Of Cold Wars Dbq

Global 10 May 29, 2018 Effects of Cold Wars DBQ
On the day of 1945 when World War ll came to end, a whole new form of tension formed known as
the Cold War. The Cold War was essentially a long period of time in which the United Stateshad
tensions with the Soviet Union. The Nazis, led by Adolf Hitler had withdrew from the war, the
tensions between the United States as well as The Soviet Union and its allies start to get intense.

This also is a reoccurring problem in Korea between the North and South. As seen in the map
showing the similarities of the results of the Korean War and the Vietnam War, we can see the
similarity that following the Cold War the North and South of both countries were split due to the
difference in communism and non communism. The North of both countries followed into
communist ways while the South of both countries remained non communist. This map shows he
similarities in how the Cold War split the country apart. The Vietnam War happened in 1954
because the South were not communist and the North were communist which was the same
situation in Korea. The US sent troops to Vietnam to assist the South because they too, hated
communism. The North Vietnamese utilized secret tunnels and traps to fight against the south.
The War ended in 1973 when both sides split and still are split today just like Korea. (Document
6) Communism played a part in India foreign policy in 1956. The United Kingdom always had
control of India until 1947 when they broke apart. During this time India decided to pass a
foreign policy that stated that India would not be able to align with any major powers which
was unusual because India had close military ties with the Soviet Union, a major power.
Although in the end the policy was not in affect because they broke apart with the Soviet Union,
India hoped to create powerful ties with the US and Europe. In 1956 India s foreign policy was
that they did not want to interfere with any major powers. They did not want to interfere or align
them self to any powers like the US or Soviets even thought they looked to the Soviets for military
help and sought to created ties with the US. Overall, the Cold War affected India by implementing a
foreign policy that restricted them from having anything to do with other powerful countries.

Greek And Roman Contributions To Western Civilization
Western civilization was built on the contributions made by the Greek and Roman Empires. The
Romans constructed and instituted many essentials that we utilize today. Law, politics and
architecture are significant attributes that impacted western civilization. The buildings that serve as
important structures and monuments are influenced by Greek and Roman architecture. Not to
mention the beautiful sculptures that were created. The laws that we have abided by for centuries
originated in the Roman culture. As well as some of the political aspects of western civilization. All
of these components have impacted the way the western civilization functions. None of these ideas

This would be considered the first democracy. It was an important stepping stone in the Roman
culture. People played a part in the government similar to the way we do now in the western
world. There were different branches with similar function to those that are used today. The
legislative branch was comprised of a senate and assemblies. While the executive branch was
members who were elected in and responsible for controlling the military. There was the judicial
branch containing judges who were also elected in by an assembly. The Roman government was
ahead of its time and unconventional. Had these branches not been formed, ours might not have
ever been shaped to what they currently are. The Twelve Tables was the first documented laws. The
tables were designed for the protection of the people against abuses (Ancient Rome). During this
time period the laws included were appropriate for the circumstances. One such table says that
children s lives were essentially the discretion of the father. He could choose whether he wanted
to put the child/ren to death (Spielvogel). This obviously is not something we do today, but it
was thought to be appropriate in that era. There was also a table that states a man who is
summoned, must go to court. If not he would be forced to do so. This is the only table that we
follow as a law. Many of the tables we would not use today, but the idea of a

Lender Liability and the Duty of Good Faith
Lender Liability and the Duty of Good Faith I.Introduction From time to time, lenders and their
attorneys announce that lender liability is no longer an issue with which the lending community
needs to be concerned. What usually prompts this proclamation of the death of lender liability is
a recent case in which a court has summarily rejected a borrower s claim that the lender violated
the duty of good faith and fair dealing. Many courts have rejected borrowers lawsuits which are
based on allegations of the violation of the lender s duty of good faith. Nevertheless, lender
liability should continue to be an area of concern to lenders. Although courts often dismiss cases
based on a borrower s claims of lender bad faith, in other... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Then a discussion of the objective and subjective test of good faith will take place before finally
concluding that the good faith obligation should not be imposed in debtor creditor situations to
override express terms of a contract. II.The U.C.C. A.The Good Faith Performance Obligation
and the U.C.C. The central provision of the U.C.C. s good faith requirement is found in В§ 1
203, which provides that every contract or duty within this Act imposes an obligation of good
faith in its performance or enforcement. With regard to debtor creditor relationships in particular,
this obligation of good faith performance imposes on a lender a duty to deal in good faith with its
borrower in all situations, not only in situations where, because of the circumstances of the loan,
the lender has assumed actual control over and a fiduciary responsibility for the borrower. One
troublesome but important aspect of the good faith performance obligation is its application to
contracts, which provide that one party to the contract may, in its sole discretion, take certain
actions pursuant to the contract. In such cases, the actions of the party who can exercise its
discretion may affect all parties to the contract, and dependent parties must rely on the good faith
of the party given the right to exercise its discretion. Often, the discretion exercised by the party in
control will adversely affect the dependent party. However, it does not necessarily follow that

Man s Search For Meaning By Viktor Frankl
Introduction
Man s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl describes his therapeutic doctrine (pg. 97),
logotherapy. Frankl further developed his theory based on his experiences living in the
concentration camps during World War II. He shares how this philosophy enabled him to
survive the toughest times and find motivation in life. In this paper, I will describe how Man s
Search for Meaning provided personal insights for dealing with the stresses of professional
school. I will also address the impact of the concentration camps on the prisoners using a
biopsychosocial spiritual perspective and how Frankl s challenge to always have a purpose in life
can benefit families that are facing a difficult health related diagnosis.
Personal insights
In logotherapy, Frankl states there are three different ways to find meaning in life, (1) by creating
work or doing a deed; (2) by experiencing something or encountering someone; and (3) by the
attitude we take toward unavoidable suffering (pg. 111). I realized these three tactics could be
relevant to my own life as I take on the challenge of optometry school. Optometry school is a huge
commitment and it demands four years of heavy course loads with challenging material. There is
evidence that almost 30% of medical students experience symptoms of depression and around 11%
have had suicidal thoughts (Rotenstein et al., 2016). I prefer not to become one of these statistics
during my time in optometry school. I feel one way to prevent this

How Values And Values Have Affected My Life
From the beginning of time, ancient philosophers and educators have taught different life
developmental skills to aid people as they grow. Those educators often taught students how to
develop ethical and moral character. With teaching those characteristics as a foundation they were
able to teach students to branch out and understand a deeper meaning of authenticity, virtueand
value. All three of these concepts are required to live a meaningful and balanced life in both the
physical, mental and spiritual realms. I will be discussing how authenticity, virtue and values
have affected my life, along with how they affect my future. Secondly, I will be discussing how
these principles have helped guide me through my life. Values, authenticity, and virtues have an
effect on a person from the time they were born and as they continue to age. Authenticity almost
has a royal name to where it must be respected and bowed to without question. In my book that is
exactly how I think of being authentic; it is being real and genuine without any deception. I could
not think of a better way to work, communicate, love, or develop any type of relationship with
unless they were honest and real. Deception and liars are not people I set out to communicate
with. I feel bad for the people who feel that they must deceive or hide who they are because being
you is much easier. Authenticity shapes my life because I am able to be genuine when working
with others in my work environment. According to

Happiness In Fahrenheit 451 And A Clean Well-Lighted Place
Happiness differentiates for every individual. Faking happiness can occur as well. Humans can
be materialistic and hard to please because of their need to want more. Some people can be
content with a poor lifestyle because of their supporting family. Some may even appear to have
everything in the world, but can be suffering inside. This could be due to loneliness, pain, illness,
depression, or even loss of loved ones. Many characters from Fahrenheit 451and A clean Well
Lighted place were unhappy, while some were actually happy.
Montag s wife from Fahrenheit 451 was an example of someone who was unhappy. As soon as
Montag got home from a long day at work She kept telling him to buy a new interactive tv set.
She already had a new TV set, house, friends, and etc. She was called to be in the Family show
that everyone watches. Montag knew she wasn t the only Mildred to be called that day, but his
wife insisted that she was special. All Mildred cared about was fitting in. She hated being different.
When Montag was bringing out his books she kept telling him to put them away and to act normal.
She did nothing but hate his books even though she wouldn t try to read it. She had already
attempted to commit suicide before by overdosing on pills. This shows that something was eating at
her even though she had everything .
The younger waiter from A Clean Well Lighted Place would be labeled as happy. Even though he
works minimum wage as a waiter he has something to look forward to.

Essay on To what extent is experience necessary for face...
It has been claimed that experience plays a crucial role in the development of face processing
(Kelly, Quinn, Slater, Lee, Ge Pascalis, 2007, p.1084). To what extent is experience necessary for
face processing? Support your argument with empirical evidence.
There is much debate on the subject of experience in regards to face processing. Some say that
experience is wholly important in face processing while others say that face processing is innate
and will develop without experience. It has been argued both that face processing is a perceptual
process organized at birth and that it originates in a more general process that becomes specialized
due to experience of different faces (Sugita, 2009). It may be that there is an innate ... Show more

They were then asked to decide whether they were the same or different when upright and
inverted. Deprived patients distinguished faces from the featural set normally, but were
significantly impaired for the configural set. These results indicate experience is indeed necessary
for the normal development of face processing; specifically configural processing of faces. They
also suggest that when visual input is delayed by only two months, there are permanent deficits (Le
Grand et al., 2001).
It has been hypothesized that there may be a critical/sensitive period for certain aspects of face
processing to develop. Inferences from several data imply that there is a sensitive period and that
it is between the first 6 to 12 months of life (Mancini et al., 1994). Nelson (2001) proposes that
regions within the brain have the potential to become specialized for face processing and then when
the face perception apparatus becomes tuned by exposure to faces, this specification includes:
recognizing gender, age and emotional information. Sugita (2009) also suggests that there is a
sensitive period for face perception; as selective experiences significantly affect later development
of face processing. Although this theory has been inferred many times it is ultimately unknown for
how long this period may last. However, the concept of a sensitive period certainly supports the

As an American citizen, I believe if it is right or legal in one state it should remain as it is on the

believe it definitely needs to be a federal issue; it isn t fair for the drug to be handed in some states

Angels And Insects Essay
A great Neo Victorian concern was to deconstruct the ideals and myths of the Victorian society and
belief, as they were foolishly enslaved by their own jaundice. The Victorians have made a sidewall
to inner and sometimes outer world, becoming mediocre in thinking and acting.
The aim of this essay consists in illustrating various aspects that were taken over from Victorians
and ingeniously rearranged by A.S. Byatt in her first short novel from Angels and Insects aspects
regarding the multitude of perspectives when it comes to analyzing the characters.
On the one hand, it was quite unusual for a man who lived in the Victorian era to be so sensitive to
female s feelings, to offer her his unconditionally love and compassion, and to be so open minded
that he is seen as a poor fish by narrow minded people. The model of gentleman is, thus, brought
back to its literary meaning, in the sense that William is gentle in thought and action. It may seem

representativeness and corroboration already into my research. In relation to being a villain, it
is clear the wide spread death and his subsequent concern as a result of his movements represents
his criminal persona. This is coming across in my main pieces of evidence up to this point. This
is also indicating Mao s motives and subsequently the effect it had on a specific group of people,
in this case is the Chinese s public. His movements also indicate somewhat his self interest in
developing his humongous ideological campaign. Despite this, it is vital I further investigate how

Similarities And Differences Between Tikki Movie And Movie
Rikki Tikki Tavi
This story resembles bravery in a little mongos named Rikki Tikki Tavi. A mongos who saves a
family and gets something in return. He protects this family with his life and always thinks of
others first. Rikki is a fighting, protecting, and loving mongos who has killed many of snakes
protecting this little boy named Teddy, and his family. In the story and movie there are many of
similarities and differences, to do with the plot, setting, and characters, comparing the book and the
movie Rikki Tikki Tavi.
Rikki was found by a river soaking wet by Teddy, a boy who wanted to have a funeral for him,
and his family. In both the story and movie he was describe cold and wet; also he was found in
the dirt. The family decided to take him home to warm him up and get him something to eat.
During the movie the big man, Teddy s dad, picked Rikki up at the river holding him with his
nose at the man s finger tips, and Rikki s tail passed his wrist. While in the story it is stated the
big man picked him up between finger and thumb. ( Kipling pg.143) there is a difference between
the story and the movie. While the movie isn t an exact replica there still are a lot of similarities.
When the family decided to bring Rikki Tikki in to dry the movie and story have a difference.
The story said that They wrapped him in cotton, and warmed him over a little fire. (Kipling 143).
Although the movie was close it showed Rikki in the cotton but he wasn t placed over a small fire.
Similarities are plentiful in the movie, but there are some differences to look up to.
Teddy and his family had Rikki for quite some time, and he was curious around the house. In the
movie right before bed Teddy was taking a bath Rikki was climbing on the side of it and fell into
the tub. This is a similarity of both the story and the movie. One difference is written in the story
that Rikki nearly drowned himself in the bathtub, put his nose into ink on a writing table, and
burnt it on the end of the big man s cigar. (Kipling 144). The movie didn t show any of this it
hadn t been shown. One night when the cobra couple nag and nagaina were talking outside of the

front, and when the plane split in two the front of the plane landed in the water. The boys looked
around but the adults were nowhere to be found. Eventually with time, the boys found out who

This is because companies need to understand what their costs are, like construction companies,
to be able to bid on jobs. These types of companies understand what it takes to complete most
aspects of the jobs they are bidding on. When they provide a prospective customer with a job
cost sheet it breaks down material costs, labor costs, and overhead costs to show their customer
where the costs are going to be incurred. These types of companies know how many hours it will
take to assemble parts, construct parts of a house, repair pipes, and many other types of work of
this nature. These companies spend time analyzing their costs per job to compute a standard for
each category of their jobs and identify cost drivers to come to a standard cost.
(b) A standard imposed by a governmental agency is known as a regulation. Do you agree? Explain.
Yes a standard imposed by a governmental agency is a regulation. When governmental agencies
impose standards that are required for a specific attribute of any job it is called a regulation. This
can be anything from local government limiting the number of deer being able to be hunted by one
person, the Environmental Protection Agency stating that a company can only produce X amount
of pollution per year, to the federal government stating that each individual must have the same
consideration/ opportunity for employment.

Diversity In The 18th Century
The diversity in 18th century American society was like an undeveloped larva compared to the
intricate butterfly America is today. The larva of 1791 consisted of a white majority, while today
s butterfly is flush with colors from all over the world, where diversity has catalyzed change
within the society as a whole (periodic). Although Thomas Paine argued America represented a
haven of concordant living amongst people of diverse backgrounds under a government promising
unalienable rights, the grand change in American demographics has inevitably produced turmoil
among different cultures, divided by a broad discrepancy of wealth between social classes and
sweeping contrast between ideologies; America, therefore, is too young and diverse of a country
where citizens have not found a common ground to stand together on (parallelism). The
pollyannish goal of society is concord, the weaving of various cultures, ideas, and principles to
create a harmonic, unified community. A society under concord is a utopia, where according to
Paine, any difficulty is expunged, simply by establishing a government based on philosophical
ideals. Concord is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
population consisted of about 80% of whites, while the rest were slaves. Since then, not only has
the U.S. population multiplied by approximately 80 times, but the presence of other races has
waxed as well. A society dominated by people with similar culture would definitely struggle less
in achieving societal concord than one catholic in culture. Racism is a telling example of discord
in American society today as a result of change in demographics, where the chauvinist Ku Klux
Klan purposefully hectors non white Christians. Nowadays, as our society becomes more
culturally diverse, the possibility of achieving concord is like the probability of Wile E. Coyote
capturing the Road Runner, very scarce (simile). Societal discord doesn t just end at conflicting
ideologies, it continues into economic cases (compound

Moll Flanders Comparison Essay
The authors of five English novels portray the role of a foster or adopted child in similar and
contrasting ways. In Moll Flanders by Daniel Defoe, the hardships an adopted child faces expose
their financial challenges. Throughout Persuasion by Jane Austen, adopted and foster children are
given more love from the foster parents than the biological parent as the foster parents are
overcompensating trying to be the best parent. Wuthering Heightsby Emily Bronte, sheds light on
the problems that can occur when an adopted child tries to integrate into a household. Charles
Dickens novel, Hard Times, shows how an adopted child can change a household for the better by
introducing new ways of thinking. Throughout Tess of the D Urbervilles by... Show more content on

Both Moll and Sissy are given an education, Moll succeeds, while Sissy does not. Similarly,
Catherine Earnshaw goes to live with the Lintons, and becomes their adopted daughter for five
weeks. While she lives with the Lintons, Catherine is educated on how to be a proper lady. With
the Linton s help, Catherine s manners were much improved (WH 55). When she returns home,
she is a completely different woman, and rather than a wild savage... [she was] a dignified
woman (WH 55). Even though Moll, Sissy, and Catherine are educated with different methods
and on different topics, they all have an opportunity for an education; however, both Heathcliff
and Hareton are deprived of an education which results in them being academically unsuccessful
in relation to Moll, Sissy, and Catherine. When Hindley returns from university, and becomes
master of the house, he stops Heathcliff s education. He deprive[s] [Heathcliff] of the instructions
of the curate, and insist[s] that he should labour out of doors instead (WH 49). Similarly,
Heathcliff deprives Hareton of an education in order to get revenge on Hindley. Heathcliff says,

had done to him. Heathcliff deprives Hareton of an education by [tying] his

Highroad To The Stake Sparknotes
The Pappenheimer Family
The Pappenheimer s were a beggar family of five from Swabia, Germany. The family consisted of
the mother (Anna), father (Paulus), two elder sons (Jacob and Gummprecht), and the youngest son
(Heol). The Pappenheimer s were originally were from Swabia, Germany. Paulus earned a living by

Despite that the Pappenheimer s were the one of the few Lutheran s in Bavaria, Germany, the
councilor decided to torture them into confession. Conor Byrnex states, The Pappenheimer s were
taken to Bavaria and tortured into confessing to everything they were accused of. In other words,
the Pappenheimer s were tortured so badly that they had no other option than confessing. The
Pappenheimer s were tortured discriminatorily and deserved a chance to speak the truth without
torture inflicted upon them. Before they were even given a chance to speak, Duke Maximilian
ordered the councilor to send the family to get tortured. Michael Kunze states, Duke Maximilian

The Constrained Court Model Created By Gerald N. Rosenberg
The Constrained Court model created by Gerald N. Rosenberg, proves that the courts are weak,
powerless, and ineffective for change among race, class and gender ideologies.. Using Lisa
Frohmann s article, Convictability and Discordant Locales; in which she is reproducing race, class
and gender ideologies in Prosecutorial Decision making . Frohmann uses discordant locales as a
bridge to describe how prosecutors work in sexual assault cases. Rosenberg and Frohmann
demonstrate that the courts are not effective unless they overcome these constraints, set in the
constrained court model. According to Rosenberg and Frohmann social reform is nearly
unachievable, through the district attorney and victim cross examination interview and jury
assumptions. As Rosenberg specified in order to establish social reforms the following constraints;
limited nature of constitutional rights lack of judicial independence, judiciary s lack of power
implantation and inability to develop appropriate policies need to be eradicated.
The Dynamic Court view s claim that a major contribution of the courts in civil rights was to give
the issue clarity, press political elites to act, poke the consciences of whites, legitimate the
grievances of blacks, and fire blacks up to act is not demonstrated. In all the places examined,
where evidence supportive of the claim should exist, it does not. The concerns of clear
acknowledgement, time, and increased press coverage all cut against the theory.

Porter Argues That If a Firm Is to Attain Competitive...
Porter argues that if a firm is to attain competitive advantage; it must choose between the types of
competitive advantage it seeks, discuss using an industrial example? An industry can be defined as
a group of companies offering products that are closely substituting for each other in order to
satisfy customers. Competitive advantage can be defined as when a firm sustains profit which
exceeds the company s average; it automatically possesses competitive advantage over rivals. The
business strategy for most companies is to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage. This essay
aims to discuss why firms must choose between types of competitive advantages using an industrial
example. Michael Porter indentified that there are 2... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Porter states that there are 2 types of competitive advantage a firm can possess as mentioned
above however , there are 3 generic strategies for achieving competitive advantage in an industry;
cost advantage/leadership, differentiation and focus. The first type of competitive advantage is
cost advantage /leadership, it is when a firm becomes low cost producer in its industry. It
minimizes the cost to the organization of delivering products and services. According to Porter
(1985) , there are two ways of achieving cost leadership either by increasing profit by reducing
costs while charging the average price. Or by increasing market share through charging lower
prices while still achieving a reasonable profit on each sale because your cost has been reduced.
Furthermore, companies that are successful in achieving cost leadership usually have an access
to the capital needed to invest in technology which helps reduce the cost. Also, they have very
efficient logistics and a low cost base such as labor, materials and facilities (Ibid, 1985).
Essentially, if a firm can achieve and maintain cost leadership, it can obtain above average
performance whilst the prices are still affordable in that industry. Hence, the cost leader does not
try to be the industry innovator, it seeks to position its products to appeal to the average customer
taste. The aimed goal is to increase efficiency and lower its costs in relation to competitors. Some

Leadership Development Of Team Captains
This paper is an academic critique of the article by Christian Grandzol, Susan Perlis, and Lois
Draina (2010) entitled, Leadership development of team captains in collegiate athletics. Grandzol,
Perlis, and Draina were attempting to determine if participating in collegiate athletics was
associated with leadershipdevelopment. The authors looked at five leadership practices that were
analyzed through the use of the Student Leadership Practice Inventory developed by James
Kouzes and Barry Posner. The author s research question was Are leadership practices of (A)
model the way, (B) inspire a shared vision, (C) challenge the process, (D) enable others to act, and
(E) Encouraging the heart related to athletic participation and leadership position? (Grandzol,
Perlis, Draina, 2010, p. 405). Although the Grandzol et al were looking at collegiate athletes in
their study, they were trying to answer the age old question; are leaders born or are they developed?
Review of Literature
Leadership has many definitions and has been described by many authors, political leaders, and
common men by different means. The great Green Bay Packers coach, Vince Lombardi, once said;
Leaders aren t born, they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work.
And that s the price we ll have to pay to achieve that goal, or any goal. The literature that the
authors reviewed justifies the argument that leaders are developed. Grandzol et al did not find
much literature that

Religious Pluralism
I have learned that Destiny Worship Center recognizes pluralism and has a great number of
people and families that have different social classes, races, tradition, and interests. Even though
people have differences in these areas, the church as a whole believes that everyone should work
together as one. Pluralism was shown in the volunteer work for Hurricane Irma as every one of
different social classes, backgrounds and traditions worked together as one to put into one good
cause. There are several immigrants or people with green cards in the church that are welcome. I
also learned that the church offers classes for those who may have a different religion or culture.

The Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Charity
In 2001, Frank Baird founded the charity event Walk a Mile in Her Shoes: The International
Men s March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault, and Gender Violence in an effort to engage more
men in the fight against sexual violence and domestic abuse in the United States and abroad
(Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, n.d.). Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is a mile long charity walk where
men literally walk, jog, run, and occasionally trip in high heels, customarily red (the classic
emblem for the walk). However, all types of traditional women s shoes are fine, and anyone who
cannot wear heels or has special needs, such as a wheelchair, is encouraged to participate and
help raise awareness of this pressing issue while also raising money for community resources
that help survivors of sexual assault and domestic abuse. Several Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
charity walks have been successfully held in locations like Logan and Orem, UT. I have
personally volunteered as a Blister Sister during Park City s recent Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event
which benefitted the Peace House. However, the most populous county in Utah, Salt Lake County,
has never held a Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event and I think 2014 is the perfect time to bring this
celebrated event to Salt Lake City. Like other Walk a Mile in Her Shoes events, Walk a Mile in Her
Shoes, Salt Lake City! will raise funds for a local non profit organization dedicated to eliminating
sexual violence in our state the Rape Recovery Center of Utah.

Using the algorithm, researchers were able to infer many personal traits merely from friend
lists, including educational level, university attended, hometown and other private data. Many
social networking sites regularly make changes that require you to update your settings in order
to maintain your privacy, and frequently it is difficult to discover how enable settings for your
appropriate level of privacy. Because of this, many users do not realize how much private
information they are allowing to become public by not re evaluating settings every time the
network makes a change. Tagging can also serve as an invasion of privacy. When social
networking sites have a tagging option, unless you disable it, friends or acquaintances may be
able to tag you in posts or photographs that reveal sensitive data. Negative Health Consequences A
2010 Case Western Reserve School of Medicine study showed hyper networking (more than three

correlated with unhealthy behaviors in teens, including drinking, smoking and sexual activity.

  • 3. Essay of Comparison between The Tiger and The Lamb, poems... Essay of Comparison between The Tiger and The Lamb, poems by William Blake The Tiger and The Lamb were poems by William Blake, a poet who lived in the 18th century. In this essay I am going to compare the two poems and examine links between them relating to rhymes, patterns and words used. Blake s background relates on the poems he wrote, and many of his works reflected his early home life. Blake in his childhood was an outcast, a loner, and didn t have many friends. His family believed very strongly in God and were extremely pious Christians but did not agree with the teachings of the church, so young William Blake often was made to think about God and his teachings during his studies. Because his parents were rebels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The Lamb the poem is mainly very well structured and flows. In the first verse it has the questions and in the second verse it has all the answers. If you were only to look at the poem briefly you would believe it was a children s poem, a hopscotch poem or playground chant, until you remember that Blake could not have known these as he did not attend school. The reader would think this because of the simple vocabulary, and also if you notice, the poem uses soft alliteration little lamb this gave a much softer feel to the poem, obviously putting one in mind of children and their innocence. Blake was a very holy and pious person. He often out biblical discourse into many of his poems, as I have stated before. I found some plain biblical tones in The Lamb the next quotation shows this point. He is meek, and he is mild . . . became a little child . This quotation is from the New Testament, where God was forgiving, whereas in the Old Testament God was believed to punish people for their sins i.e. Noah and the Ark, in which God drowns the entire human race apart from Noah and his family. The fact that there is biblical content in The Lamb is inspiring and was maybe meant to give a sense of hope. The lack of biblical discussion in The Tiger gives the reader a sense of lack if reprieve, lack of hope and a sense of the prison of the world and all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Evaluating The Merits And Demerits Of Fixed And Floating... Evaluate the merits and demerits of fixed and floating exchange rate regimes. Provide examples to support your arguments. I. Intro Floating exchange rates and fixed exchange rates each provide distinct advantages and disadvantages for a given regime. In any given state of the global economy, one given country may be better suited for one system. But there are a number of factors that influence this, and there is therefore no universal correct system for all international economies. I will discuss the merits and demerits of a floating exchange rate, providing the examples of the US Government response to the 2008 financial crisis and the excessive speculation that led to the 1929 stock market crash. These examples will illustrate a time when the US economy benefitted due to a floating exchange rate and a time when the US economy suffered due to a floating exchange rate. I will then provide a similar analysis for the fixed exchange rate using the same example of the dangers of speculation regarding the 1929 financial crash and the emerging market crisis of Argentina in 2001. As mentioned before, there is no universal solution to the monetary policy governing exchange rates. A general rule, however, is that floating exchange rates provide a country with more adaptability and independence in fluctuating international economic circumstances. But they can lead to instability, needlessly expansionary policy and excessive speculation. Fixed exchange rates, in contrast, are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In March 2012, Spotify removed a feature that non U.S. residents couldn t play a song more than five times but the restriction continued in the United Kingdom and in France. What makes Spotify different from other programs is that it allows you to access 20 million songs that you can stream on your computer and play. The basic services are free while the premium gives the more advanced features. Spotify provides more access to thousands of albums and artists and allows people to listen to some of their favorite songs for free. It has changed the way music platforms are hosted on the internet and provides easier access to artist s music online. A strategy that Spotify uses to help achieve their position is by selling premium services to people and using advertisements from third parties. If people enjoy the website enough, they will pay to get even better services from the website. They also offer to pay artists and copyright holders royalties if they stream their music on the website. This helps them get their revenue. The company pays 70% of revenue to the copyright holders. Spotify tries to push for people to pay for the music which is the source of most of their revenue. The subscription usually removes advertisements and limits on the songs. It also allows free phone usage, offline and online. In 2012, a report declared that Spotify lost $59 million in revenue costs due to high staffing costs, licensing fees ... • 8. Analysis Of The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee Growth and Acceptance The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee was done wonderfully and quite entertaining. While a musical about a spelling bee does not sound like the most exciting thing to watch, the performances by each actor provided a great atmosphere for the production. Going into the play, I was expecting it to be a kid s show, which kids would enjoy the musical but may not quite get all of the jokes. The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee was more aimed at adults. Every adult that was watching the play, myself included, was rolling out of their seats. The play managed to be engaging and funny throughout the entire play. Within the play, each actor has a different background story. Each actor in the play, plays a big role and stood out in their own specific way. Also, this specific play differs from the other plays we have seen but it has few similarities. Beginning, the 25TH Annual Putnam Spelling Bee play overall is a musical comedy. The play was more fast paced, more laughing was involved and much more singing. Which led to the play in particular being quite more engaging than others. The production in this play differed from the other plays we ve seen. The audience interaction was the best part of the production. One difference to me is the play involved four people from the audience to participate as actors in the play. Not knowing exactly what their purpose is in the play, just generously volunteering as a spelling bee contestant. Another aspect that differed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Dangers Of Male Dominance In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The... In Nathaniel Hawthorne s short story, The Birthmark, he touches on the dangers of traditional male dominance within Aylmer and Georgiana s marriage and how this confronts Aylmer s overall masculinity, as well as identifies the reflection of a male ideal of femininity. Not only does this masculine facade shape Georgiana s sexuality, but also it allows Aylmer to ultimately be able to live his life governed by sameness which he feels he can control through Georgiana s feminine Nature itself. Hawthorne uses The Birthmark, not just as a story about the flawed and imperfect nature of women, but mainly of a story about the sickness of Aylmer, and how the great American dream of eliminating women is essentially a demonstration that the only... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aylmer s character, the man of science, is initially introduced as the pale philosopher who seems to be so dedicated to his love of science that he believes he possibly possessed this degree of faith in man s ultimate control over Nature (Hawthorne 28). Almost immediately, Aylmer pronounces his masculinity and dominance over Georgiana and her feminine nature when he mentions if it had ever occurred to her to have this odious hand removed from her face. The desire of removing this crimson hand from Georgiana s face dictates Aylmer intently, even causing him to have dreams of the birthmark because the mind is in a sad state when Sleep (Hawthorne 31). Until then, Aylmer wasn t aware of the tyrannizing influence of the crimson hand, and how it put him in this sad state, yet this problematic birthmark ultimately causes him to feel the need to express his masculinity over Georgiana throughout the rest of the short story. This emphasizes Aylmer s character s need for control over Georgiana indefinitely. We see Aylmer s character being moved to this situation, not because of the vision of Georgiana s potential perfection, but by his horror at her present condition; Aylmer s compulsion to perfect Georgiana is a result of his horrified perception of what she actually is, and all lofty talk about wanting her to be perfect so that just this once the potential of Nature will be fulfilled is but a cover for his central emotion of revulsion (Fetterley). Since this definition of masculinity is essentially a reflection of the male ideal of femininity, this threatens Aylmer and causes him to become resentful of feminine Nature, which can govern all beings, unlike his scientific experiments. This, in turn, makes Aylmer fundamentally less than women, which undermines his masculinity even more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Growth Theories Of Growth And Growth Models Growth Theories Under the growth theories some theories of growth and growth models will be reviewed; i) The Harrod Domar Growth Model In economic literature, this model is called capital only model. Harrod and Domar (1948) took over from Rostow, because Rostow had some unanswered questions. The model stated that saving is a certain proportion of national income and net investment is defined as the change in capital stock (K). The model further assumes that there is some direct relationship between the size of the capital stock, (K), and total GNP, (Y). This follows that any addition to the capital stock in the form of new investment will bring about corresponding increase in the flow of national output, GNP. This relationship is known in economics as the capital output ratio. If the capital output ratio is defined as k and assume further that the national savings ratio, s, is a fixed proportion of national output (e.g. 6%) and that total new investment is determined by the level of total savings, we can construct the following simple model of economic growth Balami (2006). Savings (S) is some proportion, S, of national income (Y) such that we have the simple equation S = SY ....................................................................................... (2.1) Net investment (I) is defined as the change in the capital stock, K, and can be represented by О”K such that I = О”K ...................................................................................... The author then goes into a more deeply examination of the treatment itself; he explains the ways in which the physicians took care of the situation and the reaction of the prince. The author talks about the reaction not only from the king but also from the community of Alcala. One of the main topics of the article is how many writers of the time, portrayed the injury of Don Carlos. And how this image persisted so much that it influenced the way in which the community of Alcala and even in modern times we observe the life of Don Carlos. After giving the details of the injury, the author explains the interaction between the physicians, who took care of the man who was supposed to be the king of Spain. He tells the readers how Philip and his advisors gathered the most respectful and well known doctors of the time, which among them were Dr. Vesalius and Dr. Daza Chacon. As the author explains, at the beginning of the injury the relationship between the doctors was healthy, the only issue between them was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 16. Design Proposal Report For Fatigue Monitoring System Design Proposal Report for Fatigue Monitoring System (FMS) By Alvin Kuan, Sarah Fink, Shian Su and Suliman Altaleb 1. Abstract This paper presents some background briefing, implantation, ethical responsibility, and action plan of FMS design plan. FMS is a model purposely designed to detect and measure fatigue variables, i.e., blinking rate, yawning rate and head tilt for fatigue predictions. In addition, FMS will establish a crude estimate of fatigue and warns the user if a threshold has been exceeded. This FMS will provide real time measurements of fatigue which, if integrated with good risk management practice, will result in reduced and controlled recurrence of serious safety incidents. The focus the project is to understand and appreciate the essential components in designing successful and commercially viable device. This system employs non invasive electrodes which are positioned specifically for each of blinking and yawning tests in order to attain electrocardiogram signals accordingly. FMS is also able to detect head nodding patterns via a gyro sensor specifically located to monitor axial coordination of head. 1. Background Fatigue results in an impaired decision making and judgment, slowed reflexes and responses, absent mindedness, memory lapses etc. Fatigue is often a root cause of major accidents. Fatigue is believed to be the reason of more than 20% of road fatalities in Victoria Fatigue related accidents are more likely to result in fatalities ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Current Pressurized Oxygen Tension Based Indices Response In this thesis, I have attempted to further explore the nature of the current utilised oxygen tension based indices response, with a view to its use as a tool to assess the pulmonary oxygenation in critically ill patients. Furthermore, this thesis developed a new index to assess pulmonary oxygenation. This topic was explored with external pulmonary factors to quantify oxygenation defect through a maze of mathematics, different diseases, and pathophysiology. There was one or two ways that could lead us to the answer and many dead end routes. Ultimately, the research produced an equation that was more robust than the PaO2/FiO2 ratio in terms of less variation. The first chapter described two different types of oxygen indices and its use. The second chapter described the medical simulator in general and the Nottingham Physiology Simulator (NPS) in particular. In chapter three, we examined the variation of certain oxygen indices with changes in the following external physiological factors (FIO2, Hb, RQ, and VO2) without changing the pulmonary configuration status. This investigation was done with ARDS simulated patients using a validated NPS model. The study demonstrates that the external physiological factors induced a remarkable variation in comparing to oxygen indices, and the use of each index depends on the type of the external physiological factors. However, we conclude that clinicians should be aware of using the best index according to patient s status. Accordingly, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Salinger s novel, The Catcher in the Rye, Holden Caulfield is only in his teens, attending High School, yet longs for his early childhood. He can be seen trying to hold onto the past by acting various ways. The author, meanwhile, uses symbolism to demonstrate the effects of a loss of innocence, and the effects of coming of age. J.D. Salinger s novel The Catcher in the Rye shows, through moderately relatable eyes, the changes and realities that we must all accept, and what we must lose as we all come of age, taking a step into the adult world. Analyzing Holden s character as for a biography, the reader will likely conclude that he acts no better than a hyperactive child; with little in the way of understanding the fact that all actions come with consequences. There is what he likes which seems to be little and what he dislikes which he often proceeds to call phony. His vocabulary is limited, vernacular simple, phrases repetitious, and he frequently moves to tangents; Holden acts as a child would. He has held onto what he perceives children doing, saying, thinking, and has incorporated that into himself. This is not because he has yet to lose his innocence, but because he feels he must hold on to what he believes he still has so that he may live a happy life. This is best seen by the reader when Holden divulges into one of his previously mentioned tangents, which often take on a more somber or aggressive tone towards something in the ... The North of both countries followed into communist ways while the South of both countries remained non communist. This map shows he similarities in how the Cold War split the country apart. The Vietnam War happened in 1954 because the South were not communist and the North were communist which was the same situation in Korea. The US sent troops to Vietnam to assist the South because they too, hated communism. The North Vietnamese utilized secret tunnels and traps to fight against the south. The War ended in 1973 when both sides split and still are split today just like Korea. (Document 6) Communism played a part in India foreign policy in 1956. The United Kingdom always had control of India until 1947 when they broke apart. During this time India decided to pass a foreign policy that stated that India would not be able to align with any major powers which was unusual because India had close military ties with the Soviet Union, a major power. Although in the end the policy was not in affect because they broke apart with the Soviet Union, India hoped to create powerful ties with the US and Europe. Then a discussion of the objective and subjective test of good faith will take place before finally concluding that the good faith obligation should not be imposed in debtor creditor situations to override express terms of a contract. II.The U.C.C. A.The Good Faith Performance Obligation and the U.C.C. The central provision of the U.C.C. s good faith requirement is found in В§ 1 203, which provides that every contract or duty within this Act imposes an obligation of good faith in its performance or enforcement. With regard to debtor creditor relationships in particular, this obligation of good faith performance imposes on a lender a duty to deal in good faith with its borrower in all situations, not only in situations where, because of the circumstances of the loan, the lender has assumed actual control over and a fiduciary responsibility for the borrower. One troublesome but important aspect of the good faith performance obligation is its application to contracts, which provide that one party to the contract may, in its sole discretion, take certain actions pursuant to the contract. In such cases, the actions of the party who can exercise its discretion may affect all parties to the contract, and dependent parties must rely on the good faith of the party given the right to exercise its discretion. Often, the discretion exercised by the party in control will adversely affect the dependent party. However, it does not necessarily follow that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Frankl further developed his theory based on his experiences living in the concentration camps during World War II. He shares how this philosophy enabled him to survive the toughest times and find motivation in life. In this paper, I will describe how Man s Search for Meaning provided personal insights for dealing with the stresses of professional school. I will also address the impact of the concentration camps on the prisoners using a biopsychosocial spiritual perspective and how Frankl s challenge to always have a purpose in life can benefit families that are facing a difficult health related diagnosis. Personal insights In logotherapy, Frankl states there are three different ways to find meaning in life, (1) by creating work or doing a deed; (2) by experiencing something or encountering someone; and (3) by the attitude we take toward unavoidable suffering (pg. 111). I realized these three tactics could be relevant to my own life as I take on the challenge of optometry school. Optometry school is a huge commitment and it demands four years of heavy course loads with challenging material. There is evidence that almost 30% of medical students experience symptoms of depression and around 11% have had suicidal thoughts (Rotenstein et al., 2016). Those educators often taught students how to develop ethical and moral character. With teaching those characteristics as a foundation they were able to teach students to branch out and understand a deeper meaning of authenticity, virtueand value. All three of these concepts are required to live a meaningful and balanced life in both the physical, mental and spiritual realms. I will be discussing how authenticity, virtue and values have affected my life, along with how they affect my future. Secondly, I will be discussing how these principles have helped guide me through my life. Values, authenticity, and virtues have an effect on a person from the time they were born and as they continue to age. I could not think of a better way to work, communicate, love, or develop any type of relationship with unless they were honest and real. It has been claimed that experience plays a crucial role in the development of face processing (Kelly, Quinn, Slater, Lee, Ge Pascalis, 2007, p.1084). To what extent is experience necessary for face processing? Support your argument with empirical evidence. There is much debate on the subject of experience in regards to face processing. Some say that experience is wholly important in face processing while others say that face processing is innate and will develop without experience. It has been argued both that face processing is a perceptual process organized at birth and that it originates in a more general process that becomes specialized due to experience of different faces (Sugita, 2009). They also suggest that when visual input is delayed by only two months, there are permanent deficits (Le Grand et al., 2001). It has been hypothesized that there may be a critical/sensitive period for certain aspects of face processing to develop. Inferences from several data imply that there is a sensitive period and that it is between the first 6 to 12 months of life (Mancini et al., 1994). Nelson (2001) proposes that regions within the brain have the potential to become specialized for face processing and then when the face perception apparatus becomes tuned by exposure to faces, this specification includes: recognizing gender, age and emotional information. The Victorians have made a sidewall to inner and sometimes outer world, becoming mediocre in thinking and acting. The aim of this essay consists in illustrating various aspects that were taken over from Victorians and ingeniously rearranged by A.S. Byatt in her first short novel from Angels and Insects aspects regarding the multitude of perspectives when it comes to analyzing the characters. On the one hand, it was quite unusual for a man who lived in the Victorian era to be so sensitive to female s feelings, to offer her his unconditionally love and compassion, and to be so open minded that he is seen as a poor fish by narrow minded people. At such present time of my research, I am begging to develop and contextualise a clear understanding of how I will ultimately answer mu question and I have incorporated the aspects of inquiry as well as representativeness and corroboration already into my research. In relation to being a villain, it is clear the wide spread death and his subsequent concern as a result of his movements represents his criminal persona. This is coming across in my main pieces of evidence up to this point. This is also indicating Mao s motives and subsequently the effect it had on a specific group of people, in this case is the Chinese s public. His movements also indicate somewhat his self interest in developing his humongous ideological campaign. Despite this, it is vital I further investigate how in comparison that these movements were responsible for his widespread perception of a hero and as such find a myriad of perspectives that develop a common idea that the implementation of movements such as the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural revolution was specifically the reason for Mao being viewed as a hero.... • 36. Similarities And Differences Between Tikki Movie And Movie Rikki Tikki Tavi This story resembles bravery in a little mongos named Rikki Tikki Tavi. A mongos who saves a family and gets something in return. He protects this family with his life and always thinks of others first. Rikki is a fighting, protecting, and loving mongos who has killed many of snakes protecting this little boy named Teddy, and his family. In the story and movie there are many of similarities and differences, to do with the plot, setting, and characters, comparing the book and the movie Rikki Tikki Tavi. Rikki was found by a river soaking wet by Teddy, a boy who wanted to have a funeral for him, and his family. In both the story and movie he was describe cold and wet; also he was found in the dirt. The family decided to take him home to warm him up and get him something to eat. During the movie the big man, Teddy s dad, picked Rikki up at the river holding him with his nose at the man s finger tips, and Rikki s tail passed his wrist. While in the story it is stated the big man picked him up between finger and thumb. ( Kipling pg.143) there is a difference between the story and the movie. In the movie right before bed Teddy was taking a bath Rikki was climbing on the side of it and fell into the tub. This is a similarity of both the story and the movie. One difference is written in the story that Rikki nearly drowned himself in the bathtub, put his nose into ink on a writing table, and burnt it on the end of the big man s cigar. (Kipling 144). The movie didn t show any of this it hadn t been shown. The larva of 1791 consisted of a white majority, while today s butterfly is flush with colors from all over the world, where diversity has catalyzed change within the society as a whole (periodic). Although Thomas Paine argued America represented a haven of concordant living amongst people of diverse backgrounds under a government promising unalienable rights, the grand change in American demographics has inevitably produced turmoil among different cultures, divided by a broad discrepancy of wealth between social classes and sweeping contrast between ideologies; America, therefore, is too young and diverse of a country where citizens have not found a common ground to stand together on (parallelism). Frohmann uses discordant locales as a bridge to describe how prosecutors work in sexual assault cases. Rosenberg and Frohmann demonstrate that the courts are not effective unless they overcome these constraints, set in the constrained court model. According to Rosenberg and Frohmann social reform is nearly unachievable, through the district attorney and victim cross examination interview and jury assumptions. As Rosenberg specified in order to establish social reforms the following constraints; limited nature of constitutional rights lack of judicial independence, judiciary s lack of power implantation and inability to develop appropriate policies need to be eradicated. The Dynamic Court view s claim that a major contribution of the courts in civil rights was to give the issue clarity, press political elites to act, poke the consciences of whites, legitimate the grievances of blacks, and fire blacks up to act is not demonstrated. An industry can be defined as a group of companies offering products that are closely substituting for each other in order to satisfy customers. Competitive advantage can be defined as when a firm sustains profit which exceeds the company s average; it automatically possesses competitive advantage over rivals. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Porter states that there are 2 types of competitive advantage a firm can possess as mentioned above however , there are 3 generic strategies for achieving competitive advantage in an industry; cost advantage/leadership, differentiation and focus. The first type of competitive advantage is cost advantage /leadership, it is when a firm becomes low cost producer in its industry. It minimizes the cost to the organization of delivering products and services. According to Porter (1985) , there are two ways of achieving cost leadership either by increasing profit by reducing costs while charging the average price. Or by increasing market share through charging lower prices while still achieving a reasonable profit on each sale because your cost has been reduced. Furthermore, companies that are successful in achieving cost leadership usually have an access to the capital needed to invest in technology which helps reduce the cost. Also, they have very efficient logistics and a low cost base such as labor, materials and facilities (Ibid, 1985). Essentially, if a firm can achieve and maintain cost leadership, it can obtain above average performance whilst the prices are still affordable in that industry. Hence, the cost leader does not try to be the industry innovator, it seeks to position its products to appeal to the average customer taste. The aimed goal is to increase efficiency and lower its costs in relation to competitors. Some of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
