History Of The Hubble Space Telescope
The Hubble Space Telescope is considered by some to be one of N.A.S.A. s greatest
achievements, and in its early years N.A.S.A. s greatest and most expensive failures but it is widely
regarded as a great telescope that takes beautiful stunning photos
During Hubble s building many things went wrong and right. In 1923 A German Scientist named
Hermann Oberth conceived the idea to put a telescope into orbit, Lyman Spitzer worked tirelessly
to bring this idea to fruition. In 1968 N.A.S.A. announced a plan to build The Large Space
Telescope (LST) with a launch planned for 1979. LST Was built at Marshall Space Flight Center,
Goddard Space Flight Center, and Lockheed Martin with help from The European Space Agency
because N.A.S.A. Received budget ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During Mission I Hubble s faulty mirror was corrected by putting in a correction device and
solar panels were replaced and broken gyros fixed. While all other servicing missions were done
in times of crisis servicing mission II was done as a luxury several scientific upgrades were
made including added insulation and other scientific instruments replaced. Servicing Mission III
was split into Servicing Mission IIIA and IIIB. during IIIA gyros were replaced because 4 gyros
were broken meaning the Telescope couldn t function properly insulation was also added, antenna
were replaced and the crew was forced to spend Christmas in space. Mission IV saw Hubble s
main computer replaced and various scientific upgrades and then Hubble was sent off into orbit for
the last time.
Here are Some intriguing facts about the Hubble Space Telescope. The Hubble Space Telescope
was launched aboard Space Shuttle Discovery on april 24 1990and has been running for 27 years.
Hubble has been around the earth 148,000 times and has racked up an impressive mileage of 3.8
billion miles. The HST has made over 1.3 million observations of 42,000 celestial bodies.
Approximately 2 terabytes of data are added to HST database everyday. astronomers have used
Hubble data to publish over 14,600 papers on the cosmos and has been referenced over 600,000

Domestic Violence Is A Serious And Ever Growing Problem
Domestic Violence
Domestic violence is a serious and ever growing problem that the United States is faced with.
Many people have suffered from domestic violence, and many more are still suffering even though
the abuse ended years ago. Domestic violence victims still continue to suffer from the experience to
this day. The effects of domestic violence creates something that will stick with the victim for a
lifetime. Because victims fear reporting their problems to the police, many accounts of domestic
violence goes unreported (American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, 2001).
Ignorance to the problem of domestic violence will lead to many people becoming unsocial,
suicidal, depressed, and many other problems. Domestic violence will end when people feel
safe with their intimate partners and are comfortable with who they are. People need to be
aware of what domestic violence is and what the effects of an abuser are so they can avoid ever
getting into a relationship that will eventually lead to violence. If people focus on the problems
domestic violence creates, then people will feel safer with their partners and domestic violence
will start to decrease in homes. This paper is intended to inform others about what victims of
domestic violence suffer from, what they feel, and why they feel it. The following information is in
depth research about the effects of domestic violence on victims. Victims of domestic violence
suffer from many disorders or trauma issues, and this

Detrimental Effects Of War In A Separate Peace
World War II was a very life changing event that demonstrated how much friendships and
everyday people could change due to war. One particular novel set during the era of this war
proves this point well. In the novel, A Separate Peace by John Knowles, Gene, Finny, and Leper
have their own distinct symbols. Gene symbolizes envy and jealousy, Finny embodies kindness and
hope, and Leper symbolizes the detrimental effects of war. Throughout the novel, Gene symbolizes
envy and jealousy, especially towards Finny. In the middle of chapter 2, Finny and Gene were
discussing the recent air raid on Central Europe. Finny brings up that they should celebrate and then
mentioned that he would wear a flag. Gene was surprised that he went through with it... Show more

In chapter 10, the effects of war towards leper are clearly shown when he goes off on Gene and
eventually gets pushed out of his chair: Laughing and crying he lay with his head on the floor
and his knees up, [. . .] always were a savage underneath. (145). Clearly, this passage shows how
Leper was affected from the war. Even though he doesn t admit it, his body language when he is
kicked to the ground could be described as psychotic. Leper wasn t like this at all before the war.
He was more like an outcast. In addition, in chapter 10 when Gene is visiting Leper after he
escaped from the war, Leper tells him about what he would ve been in if he han t escaped: A
Section Eight Discharge is for the nuts in the service, the psychos, the funny farm candidates.
(144). In this passage, Leper reveals why he escaped from the war. He wanted to avoid the
discharge for the crazy people even though he was one. There was definitely a massive change in
Leper from the war. In chapter 11, during the trial Leper flashbacked to memories of the war
even though he wasn t involved in heavy conflict: [. . .] and the rays of the sun were shooting past
them, millions of rays shooting past them like like golden machine gun fire (174). Here, Leper was
intimidated by the trial and eventually reflected back to his memories. Leper never saw that kind of
conflict in the military but the scars

Pediatric Nurse Research Paper
Only a particular type of person can rock Elmo scrubs. To have Disney princess characters
gummed onto their stethoscope. To have random colors of pee and goo stained onto your
clothing. To get an IV taped onto an arm so invincibly. To mastering the art of diaper changing.
To work with babies to small children to adolescents to young adults, it takes a special dose of
generosity and muscle to care for him or her when they re sick. My magnitude and absolute desire
to pursue slipping on Elmo scrubs, or in other words, becoming a pediatric nurse is because it s a
part of my character.
My passion in pursuing to be a nurse in pediatrics started when I was just 11 years old: my first
babysitting job. That being said, through the years of caring for children and making some sort of

Types Of Multiple Personality Disorder
What is multiple personality disorder? Multiple personality disorder also known as Dissociative
Identity Disorder is a severe condition in which two or more distinct identities, or personality
states, are present in and interchangeably take control of an individual. DID is a disorder
categorized by identity division rather than a creation of separate personalities. The disorder is
not due to the direct psychological effects of a substance or of a general medical condition. DID
was called Multiple Personality Disorder until 1994, when the name was changed for a better
understanding of the condition. Multiple personality disorder fails to integrate several aspects of
identity, memory, and perception in a single multidimensional self. Generally, a prime identity
carries the individual s given name and is passive, dependent, guilty and depressed. When in
control, each personality state, may be experienced as if it has a different history, self image and
identity. The secondary characteristics including name, age and gender, vocabularies, general
knowledge, and main mood, differentiate with those of the prime identity. Certain situations or
stressors can cause a particular personality to develop. The various identities may deny awareness
of one another, be critical of one another or seem to be in an open struggle. Causes of Multiple
Personality Disorder Why some people develop DID is not completely understood, but they
commonly report having experienced severe physical and

Men and Women in British Literature Essay
The portrayal of men and women has varied in different stories throughout history. Many portray
women as beautiful, deceptive, manipulative, and smart, while men are portrayed as being strong,
masculine, and easily tricked. In many of the works covered in the course Major British Writers
to 1800, men are advised to refrain from acting lustful, believed that it would harm their overall
ability to succeed in whatever the characters aimed to do. An example of this is seen in Sir Gawain
and the Green Knightwhen Gawain is deceived by Lady Bertilak in an effort to prove that Sir
Gawain is imperfect. The depictions of men and women are very similar in Fantomina by Eliza
Haywood, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, and Phyllis and Aristotle. .... Show more content on

While Sir Gawain was nearly beheaded as was Aristotle in their stories, the result of the deception
by Fantomina was an unplanned pregnancy. I feel that Haywood shows morality in this result
because, unlike other works, the man is not punished for being deceived, with the only real trouble
of Beauplaisir being that he knows of the existence of his child, which is an internal punishment
for his actions. Beauplaisir being unpunished and having his name remain untarnished while
Fantomina was sent to a monastery with her child is an example of how Haywood remained
consistent with the portrayal of other works in regards to male and female portrayal while also
distinguishing herself and her work from other works. The portrayal of women in Milton s Paradise
Lost is very different from the other works. While women are often seen as being deceitful,
devious, and smart, the depiction of Eve is different as she is seen as being dumber and more
inferior to Adam in all areas besides beauty. This portrayal of Eve assisted in the progression of
Paradise Lost as Eve ate the forbidden apple after being persuaded by Satan to eat the apple.
While the incident caused Adam to also disobey God, it created a bond between Adam and Evethat
was greater than before the incident when they were considered pure. The bond between Adam and
Eve that is improved through the learning of new emotions, trying new things, and the

Unit 4: Marketing Principles
Section 4: Understand and use the marketing mix in different contexts * Plan marketing mixes for
two different segments in the consumer markets
To enable an explanation of the use of marketing mixes for two segments in the consumer market,
it is intended to use a food product which is entering a competitive UK market. In this case, it is
intended to concentrate on two diverse products: 1. Low salt and fat cheddar (blocks) 2. Handy
sealed multi packs each containing 5 long thin strips of cheddar
The benefits and drawbacks attached to cheese consumption must be known to enable the marketers
to develop a strategy:

Price Whilst the company will wish to match its price to its marketing objectives; as a new product
entering an established market it may be tempting to price at a comparable level to other cheeses.
Factoring in production costs, target market, customer demand and life cycle, the pricing is a
matter of balance. A strong promotional push will encourage a consideration to employ penetration
pricing by entering the market at a relatively low price to gain a high market share.
Promotion Promotion should be mainly above the line with television advertising aimed at the
target segment. Advertising for the grey pound could be specific in late morning and early
afternoon slot relating to healthy activities such as home improvement, cooking and gardening
whilst the young professional could be targeted during the earliest sections of breakfast shows and
prime time in the evenings. Below the line advertising should include magazines which have been
identified as being the preserve of the segments. Strong lines of communication must be developed
with the retailer in readiness for promotional events

The Armenian Genocide Summary
Eugene Rogan s View on the The Armenian Genocide
The Armenian genocide is unfortunately regularly overlooked because of the Holocaust. This is
due to the amount killed and the extreme amount of structure in the mass killing somehow gives it
a lot more notoriety in western textbooks. There is also the fact that maybe it is underlooked
because it s a less western/ eurocentric impact on history and the countries that were involved.
Eugene Rogan in his book The Fall of the Ottomans writes an in depth chapter about the armenian
genocide and its origins. It paints the picture that first the Ottomans were not ready for a world
war of that scale. This is due to the fact that the empire is way to spread out and its people way to
differentiated in ethnicity, religion, and allegiances. These differences led to animosity between the
Majority muslim and the minority catholic groups, accusing them to be not loyal to the empire
which gave them the public support and the reason to kill and push the minority Armenians out of
Turkey. I will be talking about in detail about the Chapter relating to the armenian Genocide; its
origins and its importance to the fall of the ottoman empire.
The Armenian community was made up of three religious denominations: Armenian Catholic,
Armenian Protestant, and Armenian Apostolic, the Church of the vast majority of Armenians.
Under the millet system, the Armenian community was allowed to rule itself under its own system

Nietzsche Evil
What is it that makes something good? What is it that makes something evil? These are questions
that were asked by Nietzsche in his work, Beyond Good and Evil. Nietzsche s answers to these
questions were simple; good and evil are ambiguous because they are ultimately subjective. Thus,
good and evil are the same thing; yet at the same time, they are complete opposites. Now, this
statement is radically paradoxical, but I hope to open your mind up to this concept and explain the
importance of recognizing the thin line between good and evil. Everyone s idea of good and evil are
dependent on many things, which is why one person s idea on good and evil cannot be
completely relied on. Relying on one person s interpretation of good and evil leads to total bigotry.
One s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To Nietzsche, good and evil are always subjective, but I believe that there is one thing in this world
full of ambiguity and fogginess that is always good. That thing is the power of human love; and
furthermore expressing that love through unwavering love of our fellow man. Raw human love
cannot possibly be evil. It is the purest, most basic, and most important human emotion to master.
If everyone would just love each other despite our different interpretations of good and evil, the
world would be a much better place. I think that no matter what religion or culture someone is
raised in, love of one another is always regarded as good. Sometimes we all need to be reminded
to love our fellow humans regardless of our religion, political outlook, and ideas of good and
evil because they are subjective. Love exists beyond good and evil. Now let us discuss the
counterpart to good; can anything be inherently evil? Again, Nietzsche would say that nothing is
inherently evil, because good and evil are one in the same, however I once again beg to differ. I
believe that the absence of love is the only truly evil thing in existence. When we forget to love one
another,

The American Dream And The Mortgage Crisis Essay

The American Dream and the Mortgage Nightmare
Every country s economy is greatly impacted by the beliefs and the attitudes of its citizens;
conversely, the action of the people is affected by the country s economy. In other words, economy
of a nation and character of the citizens are correlated. For instance, in the United States, the
American Dream to own a home had a huge influence on the mortgage crisis in 2008. However, the
economy at that time period had been inducing people to buy new home. Likewise, in Greece,
the growing trend of corruption and bribery among the people played a major role in shattering
its economy. As a consequence of the dreadful economy, Greek people are revolting against their
government. While Greece is trying to recover from its devastated state, the overrated American
Dream is still a cause of multiple problems in the US. The tendency to use fulfillment of the
dream as the measure of success among American people is the one of many reason behind the
overall health of people and community and one of the main reason for crisis in 2008. The
American Dream of owning a home killed the mediocre reality of middle class people and led to a
nightmare of foreclosure and its deadly consequence instead.
On the other side of the globe, Greece, a country which used to be the foundation of intellectual and
philosophical discoveries, is now toppling over the fault

Gun Control Policies Applied To Rational And Group Theory...
Short Analysis of Gun Control Policies Applied to Rational and Group Theory Models In 2012
Sandy Hook Elementary School was victim of a terrible mass shooting that prompted several
states and cities to pass strict gun control measures. This sparked a widely debated and
controversial issue for gun friendly states in the South and West, who responded with bills that
would strengthen Stand Your Ground laws and allow weapons in most public places. The nation
continues to be divided on gun control policies, as it is very controversial and continues to be a
very hot topic in society today. There has been a rise in gun violence throughout the years, and it
has been widely been debated that guns are too easily accessible and there is a continued push for
stricter gun laws that can reduce the risk of gun violence. This paper will focus on the
implementationof two models of public policy; Group Model and Rational Model. Group Theory
begins with, the proposition that interaction among groups is the central fact of politics. Group
Theory is when individuals with common interests band together formally or informally to press
their demands upon government, a shared attitude group that makes certain claims upon other
groups in society (Dye, p. 26). Additionally, this paper will apply the rational model to gun
control policies. Rational policy, as defined by Dye, is a policy that gives the majority of society
what they want. It has emphasis on achieving maximum social gain (Dye, p.30)
Group Theory Model The group theory model, as defined by Dye, reflects that there is power in
numbers and that the influence of a group can be determined by numbers, wealth, organizational
strength, access to decision makers and internal cohesion (Dye, p.27). As the federal government
moves to make strict gun control laws and policies one extremely influential group has had
overwhelming success in slowing the process of these policies. That powerful group is known as
the National Rifle Association, a group founded in 1871 that has a focus on promoting and
encouraging rifle shooting. The NRA, already a large mass of like minded people, has been
influencing policy makers for decades via sending letters and eventually developing a

Social Factors That Influence The Patient Doctor Relationship
Social Factors in Health 1: Name five social factors that influence the Patient Doctor
Relationship? There are many social factors that can impact on the Doctor Patient relationships
everything from race to gender. To break it down and find five, I started with Doctors personal
views he is under pressure to be ethical when he may not entirely be accepting of a person s
beliefs or sexuality. For instance a doctor may be homophobic and have a patient attend surgery
asking for advice on practicing safe sex and being HIV aware. Following on from this may be a
patients confidence in doctors due to race for example a person who has racist issues would not
feel comfortable attending a foreign doctors surgery. To find a third I would have to say gender
being a female I tend to talk easier to a female doctor, which persists problems as my female
doctor only works three days a week so I put off going to see the male doctor so therefore remain
ill longer. My fourth factor is age, as the doctor could be old and the patient adolescent. This
would impact on different generations living different lifestyles and changing societies.
Adolescence is indeed a tempestuous period , (Thorne, B Lambers.1998). Finally I find language
barriers a major social factor as if you can t understand what your doctor is saying to you it has
complications in treatment and there is not always a translator available. 2: Discuss how
functionalists/ interactionalists / Marxists might view these

Moreover, most Muslim communities around the world condemned these acts. Politicians have
tried very hard to separate terrorists from Muslims, but it has been difficult. Economical and
geopolitical history has led to some elements of distrust, as well as extremism in both Christian and
Muslim communities adding to the animosity.
The War on Terror campaign has been addressed by many other names such as: World War III,
Bush s War on Terror, The Long War and The Global War on Terror. It with in Camp David on
September 16, 2001, that President George W. Bushused the term War on Terror. In an infamous
quote, President Bush said, This crusade this war on terrorism is going to take a while... This
comment was deemed controversial due to the negative associations of the term crusade with
Muslims.
The term War on Terror alone has created a psychological phenomenon that struck fear in the minds
of many Americans. The Bush Administration elevated those three words to a national mantra that
had impacted the American democracy destructively. It had impacted the American psyche as well
as the United States standing in the world. In an article by Zibigniew Brzezinski, he explains,

Ophelia, By William Shakespeare Essay
Ophelia is a terminal character in Hamlet, whose death is caused by a lack of self control and
self knowledge. Her father controls her life, and when he dies, her life is essentially over. This
poses the question: why does the death of Polonius bring on the complete collapse and
destruction of Ophelia? Polonius controls Ophelia, and does a substantial amount of her thinking.
Without him, she has no direction in her life and no way to express herself as she has been so
suppressed her entire life, and all of a sudden she is free. She does not know what to do with
herself. It is possible that Hamlets rejection of Ophelia contributes to her madness, it is possible
that her not being a virgin contributes to it, and it is also possible that she has lost all control due
to the series of events that have proven her lack of worth in this patriarchal society. This essay will
argue that with her father gone, Ophelia no longer knows what to do with her life, and has no
intended purpose since no one is invested in her life anymore.
In order to clearly understand the dynamics between Polonius and Ophelia, it is crucial to
understand Polonius as a person. First, it is important to look at what people in the kingdom,
specifically Hamlet, think about him. By comparing the what people think about him and his
actions, his character can accurately be predicted. Hamlet appears to be the most reputable
character to take opinions from in this instance, because he is not involved in the scandal

The WTO Secretariat report, along with a policy statement by the Government of Bangladesh,
will serve as a basis for the trade policy review of Bangladesh that will take place on 2 and 4 May
2000 in the Trade Policy Review Body of the WTO. The report also notes that in the face of
severe political difficulties and civil unrest, the government of Bangladesh seems to have lost its
impetus for structural reforms. Moreover, devastating floods, combined with infrastructural
failings such as power shortages, inadequate port facilities and insufficient energy supplies, led to
a sharp drop in export growth from 17.1% in 1997/98 to 2.9% in 1998/99. The report says that
textiles, and particularly clothing, have dominated Bangladesh s exports, with their combined share
growing from 70.4% in 1992 to 83.5% in 1998. These exports have been a principal source of
Bangladesh s economic growth in the 1990s. The exports are destined mostly for the U.S. and
European Union markets, to which Bangladesh has privileged access. The report notes that such
heavy dependence on a limited number of products makes the Bangladesh economy vulnerable to
increased competition from other Asian countries that produce labour intensive garments, as these
countries recover from the recent economic crisis with substantially depreciated currencies.
Moreover, the phasing out of preferential access to these

Negative Effects Of Rip Van Winkle By Washington Irving
In Rip Van Winkle by Washington Irving, Rip goes to sleep for twenty years to escape his
nagging wife. When he wakes up, everything has changed. During these twenty years, he is in a
mindless state. This story can relate to everyone because we all have mindless states, yet they are
all unique to the individual. For me, my mindless states are a way to escape reality and feel at
peace. I experience mindless states through several different activities. They are being in school,
listening to music, and being on my phone. These are simple activities yet they take me to a
different place and I escape what I am doing in the moment. My mindless states can have
positive and negative effects on me. They may be what is helping me break free from the
moment but when it is time to come back to reality, I am shocked at what I have missed and
forgotten to do. I am so deep in my mindless state, I forget time is passing and I have done nothing.

When I become bored in class it is an automatic reaction to zone out and start thinking about
other topics. This mindless state has negative effects and consequences on me. In fact, while I
am zoned out, I am missing valuable class time and information. This puts me behind others
because they know more information on the topic than I do. For example, in Mr. Lemon s class
I daydream a lot during his lectures about a book or MLA formatting. One day I came up with a
theory just by looking at a binder clip. This is important because if I did not daydream in Mr.
Lemon s class I could get a higher grade on a test if I payed more attention during lectures. Zoning
out in class therefore has negative effects and consequences on me. In conclusion, daydreaming in
class may be the only way to escape boredom but in the long run trying to stay focused could help

The Lemon Test, which was created in a case called Lemon V. Kurtzman, consists of three prongs
(Speich 275). They are that governmental action be supported by a secular purpose, that it not
have the principal or primary effect of advancing or inhibiting religion, and that it not foster an
excessive governmental entanglement with religion. (qtd. in Conkle). In other words, the first
prong requires the court to question the intent of the government or group in charge of creating
the policy; the second prong asks the court to determine the result of the policy and its effects on
religion, and the last prong asks the court to not complicate the dynamic of the church and the
state (Speich 275). The Endorsement test is used after the first two prongs of the lemon test have
been verified. First occurring in Lynch V. Donnelly, the Endorsement test states that the
government cannot endorse, favor, promote, or prefer any religious belief or practice (Speich
277). The test asks the judges if the policy in question merely looks like it endorses religion. The
Coercion test, which is sometimes used instead of the lemon test such as in Lee v. Weisman case,
asks if the policy tricks members of the minority or dissenting religion into participating
(Schweitzer; Speich 278).

The Culture Of A Place, Time, Or People
The culture of a place, time, or people is powerful. So much so, that thousands of years will still
allow certain observations into the lives of the people that existed in that culture. Through poems,
writings, architecture, art, clothing, tools, and more historians are able to get a slight
understanding of what or who people from different cultures prioritized, worshiped, or enjoyed.
Over time, local cultures can be diffused across wide areas, even continents. This leads to mixed
cultures, which in the globalized world today is vital so that people can understand instead of
abhorring one another. These three sources: Posidoniuswrites about the Celts (as reported by
others), Rock Edicts of Asoka, and Sima QianHistorical Record demonstrate the importance of cross
cultural interactions with examples from approximately 269 BCE to approximately 200s CE. They
show how important cross cultural interactions were to the regions they were in, how perceptions
of culturewere different to non natives, and how well the introduced culture stood the test of time,
all of which are vital to even beginning to understand how culture developed and diffused across
land and time. Although a region s inherent culture is what makes up the backbone of the people in
that region, interactions between culture through trade, travel, or conflict provide the blending of
cultures. This can be read in the Greek scholar Athenaeus citing of Posidonius circa late 100s early
200s CE, in which he remarks

How Did Justinian Influence Architecture
Justinian Justinian I was a ruler in the Byzantine Empire from 527 to 565 CE. When he first
came into power Justinian I was not favored by the overall population. Procopius, a scholar and
historian in the 6th century, described Justinian as a man both an evil doer and easily led into evil,
the sort of a person whom they call a moral pervert, never of his own accord speaking the truth to
those with whom he conversed, but having a deceitful and crafty intent behind every word and
action. Also the Nika Riots were revolts against Justinian s rule that took place in Constantinople
over the span of a week. This resulted in the death of thirty thousand people. But despite the early
animosity towards Justinian s reign it is clear that Justinian brought prosperity to the Byzantine

Justinian sought to rebuild the former glory of the Roman Empire and he started after the Nika
Riots in 532. Since most of Constantinople was burnt down during the riots Justinian decided to
rebuild the capital into a much more magnificent city and it all started with the reconstruction of
the Hagia Sophia. The Hagia Sophia was the most prominent church in the Roman Empire and
Justinian had the church designed by architects Isidore of Miletus and Anthemius of Tralles. The
church has a massive dome ceiling which was a huge feat for construction builders during the
post classical age. There were 40 windows which helped to bring in light and illuminate the many
mosaics inside the church. The mosaics were icons popular to the Eastern Orthodox faith such as
Christ, angels and crosses. The Hagia Sophia has two levels and stands at 180 feet tall. There was

Lastly, Sethu seemed to be the first one who addressed the problem in how Irula people catch rats,

would come and compete with Sethu in the near future. Hence, the Irulas did not have other choices
but use Sethu s new traps if they wanted to change the way to catch rats.
3. What characteristics of the entrepreneur enabled their success?
Sethu had many characteristics of an ideal social entrepreneur. Among those characteristics, the
thing distinguishing him from others may be his concern for the community. Being inspired by
Mahatma Gandhi the Father of the Nation, Sethu always thought of ways to bring a better life for
the poor in India. This is probably the reason why he realized the problem of the old way of
catching rats of the Irulas and did not stop thinking of a solution.
In addition, Sethu obtained an appropriate education and experience in doing social
entrepreneurship. Sethu studied in Gandhi s school in India, where he was instructed to use Gandhi
s method to improve lives for the poor, solve human conflicts and introduce new ideas. After
graduation, he worked for an NGO to accumulate experience before establishing his own NGO in
1998. His education and experience were the foundation for his innovativeness, which contributed
to the invention of the rat trap.

Family And Family Essay
To a lot of people, having the same blood running through your veins, means a lot. To some it
means that it automatically claims you to be family. Others may think being blood related means
you re more important to them then someone who may not be. But to me, blood has nothing to do
with who you care about and who you consider family. It doesn t shape you as a person and doesn
t define who you are going to be. I am adopted, therefore, most of my family and I do not share
the same DNA. But I have learned that it doesn t matter if you have the same color hair as your
mother, or the same eyes as your father. What matters is the love and the care that people share
for you, that s what makes you family. Just because someone may share the same physical
characteristics as you, doesn t mean you will have the same emotional characteristics. For me,
this is something I have had to learn a lot over time. My biological mother and father weren t the
best role models. I was taken away from them at the age of five and put into foster care. As I was
growing up I had this growing fear that I would be exactly like them. I have younger siblings,
and for a lot of my life I ve had to look over them and be their support system. I was constantly
worried I was not enough for them, I would worry that I would let them down. I knew what it felt
like to feel like you are alone and to be let down over and over again by the people that you
thought cared the most. And I never wanted my brothers or

How Did Emily Dickinson s Life Influence Her Poetry
Emily Dickinson Her Life and Poetry
Emily Elizabeth Dickinson was born December 10, 1830, into an influential family in Amherst,
Massachusetts. Her father helped found Amherst College, where Emily later attended between
1840 and 1846. She never married and died in the house where she was born on May 15, 1886.
Emily Dickinson s reclusive life was arguably a result of her proposed bi polar disorder. This life
and disorder unduly influenced the themes of her poetry. She chose not to associate herself with
society and volumes of her poems, published posthumously, examine this idea as well as the
themes of nature and death. The clearest examples of these themes are presented in the following
analysis of just of few of her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This poem conjures images of a solemn ceremony in which the soul reigns superior by shutting out
everyone, including the emperor, similar to the shutting out of everyone that Dickinson did. In one
of Dickinson s most famous poems, I heard a Fly buzz, the theme of death is presented as well as a
symptomatic characteristic of bi polar disorder. The poem itself epitomizes her preoccupation with
death and the macabre and also shows how the small, normally ignorable sound of a fly buzzing
becomes the only thing heard, she magnifies this sound in a situation when it seems that everything
else is much more important, but this inability to drown out extraneous noises is typical of
someone suffering from manic depression. The form of this poem employs all of Dickinson s
formal patterns: trimeter and tetrameter iambic lines, her specific use of the dash to interrupt the
meter of the poem, and it is in ABCB rhyme scheme.
Two of Dickinson s universal techniques are metaphor and the fresh application of language; both
techniques result in powerful images, and can be seen in two of her poems that focus on nature
themes, A Bird came down the Walk and narrow Fellow. She closes the poem, A Bird with a stanza
equating flight through the air with movement through water,

One point which lowers the credibility of Loftus s studies is that they were are artificially created,
none of them were real, also the importance of the events would have not been the same, as the
participants knew that they were not effecting someone life (by sending them to jail etc). The
participants were not actually there, they don t get to feel the emotion or the atmosphere were can
effect recall. However the study is supported by another Loftus and Loftus (1980) found that recall
was no more accurate when the participants were offered money, however some people are more or
less motivated by money.
Loftus also theorized that with the introduction of the misleading information the original
information is deleted and replaced by the new false memory. However this has been questioned by
other studies such as Berkian and Bowers (1983), performed a very similar experiment except that
when it came the reconstructive phase asked the questions in chronological order, (where Loftus
was completely random), they found that the mislead group recall almost the same correct amount
of info as the control group. This showed that the original memory had not actually been lost. But
unfortunately no other studies have been successful in achieving the same result,

Animal Farm Book, Language Used as an Instrument of Social...
Paying particular attention to the character of Squealer, how is language used as an instrument of
social control? How do the pigs rewrite history?
In the book animal farm, Orwell very carefully created his characters in order to mimic certain
political figures of the time. In this case Squealer functioned as the propaganda department.
Squealer uses language to keep Napoleon in power. He uses language as a means to consolidate
power, in this light truth is an element that can be manipulated through language.
His use of language is designed to enhance the control that the pigs have over the rest of the farm.
When squealer uses language as his weapon he constantly puts particular spins on events and
conditions and he uses slogans and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This, together with Boxer s enormous strength, is what makes him a threat to the pigs; they
desperately need him for his enormous capacity for work and example but, if that strength were to
be turned against them because he unwittingly alerted the rest of the animals to their corruption,
then their regime would be finished.
This fact is why Boxer is viewed as a treat, despite being an ally napoleon ultimately took the first
chance he had to get rid of boxer, and why his eventual fate comes about. Napoleon took full
advantage of the disposal of Boxer and knew once he was gone the threat of Napoleon being over
thrown was banished, Because even if the animals tried to revolt or protest, he would be able to
take control with his almighty army of beast like dogs.
While the betrayal of Boxer is not, the true climax, one could indeed construe this event in such a
way that it legitimizes as an alternative climax. After all, the betrayal of Boxer is nearly equal in the
importance to the banishment of Snowball, politically speaking.
Of all of the Characters in Animal Farm, are there any who seem to represent the point of view of
the author? Which animals or people do you think come(s) closet to achieving Orwell s perspective
on Animal Farm?
George Orwell brings to life many characters in the novel Animal Farm; He introduces very
interesting Characters like Boxer and Benjamin who portray some

Equal Pay for Equal Work The study that women are in various ways substandard to men is not

influence which has presented a reason or else a good excuse for the denial of women s equal
rights within the human race for centuries. At its mainly disgusting characteristic, the conviction
that women have to be dominated to the desires of men justification such as slavery, violent
behavior, enforced prostitution, genital mutilation as well as national laws that exclude rape as

Torah Reflection
Have you ever done or said something you wish you hadn t? What if someone was hurt as a
result of what you said or did? What did you do once you realized that? In last week s Torah
portion, things in Canaan had become pretty bad for Jacob s family, so he sent his sons to Egypt
to bring back food for the family. At the end of last week s parashah, Joseph s brothers are
standing before him in Egypt, seeking food for their starving family, but they still don t know
who Joseph is. At this point in the story, Joseph has become someone with great power in the
Egyptian government, and decides to test his brothers, to see if they ve changed at all since
they tried to kill him many years before. He demands that they bring back their youngest brother,
Benjamin, before he agrees to help them. When they return with Benjamin, Joseph orders his
servants to place his silver goblet in Benjamin s bag. Just as all the brothers are leaving, with
food and supplies, Joseph orders his guards to search the bags, and they find Joseph s goblet in
Benjamin s bag. As punishment, Joseph threatens to keep Benjamin and send his brothers back
to their father s home without him. This is where we pick up this week, with the brothers
standing before Joseph, trying to figure out how to get their brother back. They still don t know
that they are actually talking to Joseph, their brother. They plead Joseph to let them return with
Benjamin, saying that their father will die if they return without him. Joseph still refuses. Then
Judah steps up and offers to stay as slave instead of Benjamin. When Joseph sees Judah offering
himself in Benjamin s place, he can no longer hide his identity any longer. He sends everyone
else out of the room and, crying, tells them that he is their brother, Joseph. Jewish tradition sees
Judah s actions here as an important example of the value of teshuvah, which means repentance,
or repairing a relationship. Before, Judah was the one who came up with the plan to kill Joseph,
and, according to the rabbis, when Judah offers to take Benjamin s place, Joseph realizes how
much Judah has changed and decides to reveal himself. Sometimes we make mistakes and, when
we realize that, we re not sure what to do about it.

Shy Species Preferred Seahorse Habitats
Terms of Reference Background Seahorses are an iconic, shy species that have become adapted
to live in a variety of habitats. They have the ability to camouflage and a prehensile tail that can
only be forcibly unlocked in the most extremes of weather. They have the ability to grow and
reabsorb spiny appendages on their body, depending on the habitat they live in. The seahorse
male is the only male animal in the world to have a true, full pregnancy. There are two species of
Seahorse in the British Isles, the spiny seahorse (Hippocampus guttulatus) and the short snouted
seahorse (Hippocampus hippocampus); both widely distributed and both specialising in differing
habitats due to subtle differences in the shape of the snout and body and their dietary needs,
although they can also be occasionally found in the same habitat together (Garrick Maidment
2004). Seahorses are typically found in pairs, once they have migrated back into shallow waters
from their deeper, winter refuge. They are normally observed in shallower water of 2 meter (m) as
the sea temperature warms up to 9 ВєC or more (Garrick Maidment, 2013), they then form... Show

How do the mother and child relations, in the books, Blood Wedding and Like Water For

our factual life, which affect the child, and it s up bringing. Some relations are very solicitous and
create a greater bond between each other, while some do not. The authors Federico Garcia Lorca

above her daughter, which obstructs Tita from being loved by her mother. Thus, this shows the
affection between mother and child in the two books was opposite, which hints the audience the
character of Mama Elena to be a selfish, stern and a ruthless mother, while the Bridegroom s
Mother to be an affectionate, tender woman. Both the authors, Federico Garcia Lorca and Laura
Esquivel show deep affection in between the mother child bond. In Like Water For Chocolate, Tita
nurses and feeds Rosaura s child, without being a mother, which builds a mother and child relation
between the two. Similarly, such affection is also portrayed when Leonardo s wife sings a lullaby
to her child, to put him to sleep. Thus, there is common affection in the books, to enable the reader

Etruscans Vs Roman Architecture
The Romans retained many ideas about buildings from their Etruscan predecessors, but they also
absorbed some of the ideas of the Greek that were passed onto them by the Etruscans (Bleiberg,
2005). When looking back in time, the basic style of architecture that the Greek, Roman and
Etruscans used was different but also similar in a few ways such as techniques, materials, structures,
etc. For instance, when Roman architectures began to build their first temple of their time, they
based the structure off the Etruscans temple. Due to the fact that their structures promoted an
openness to them unlike the Greek temples. When looking at these styles closer, the Greek
architecture was known for their use of columns and colonnade, but the Roman architecture was
known for their use of arches and vaults. Then on the other hand the Etruscans were known for their
high podiums, unfluted columns and deep porches, unlike the Greeks that were known to build
shallow porches and projecting walls. The columns that the Etruscans used were spaced more apart
since the structured were assumed to have weighed less than other temples, such as the Greeks
marble temples. The way the Roman s used arches and vaults in their architecture had some... Show

bible of Abraham sacrificing his son and made in 1659. Lievens began his career as an independent
artist at the age of twelve and later died in 1674 due to financial issues. It is a famous story in the
Hebrew Bible and begins with Godtelling Abraham to kill his son, Isaac, on Moriah in Genesis 22:1

Put It In Space Analysis
put it in space. When a $280 million mission is looked upon as cheap it is safe to assume that
space exploration is indeed very expensive. The cost of the International Space Station alone has
been estimated to cost about $142 billion (Thompson). Due to high costs, people question why
money is being put toward space explorationwhen there are large amounts of human suffering on
Earth. It seems as though putting even a small fraction of the money that is used to support space
programs and exploration towards aid to areas and countries that are suffering would solve many
problems. For reasons such as this, many critics feel as if the money would be better spent here on
Earth rather than in the great unknown that is space.

The American civil war was an important event in the history of United States. It changed the
internal structure of American society and had a greater impact than the revolution. The basis of
the civil war was due to slavery. It overthrew the once dominated planter elite politically and its
slaveholding class. During early decades of the nineteen century the planters of American south
were not about to follow the path of gradual emancipation that the northern states had raged. The

While colonists in the South learned to use slaves on plantations, the colonists in the north learned
different skills. Although slavery was not an important to thr way of life in the North it did exist in
the south.
In year 1607, a small band of English colonists founded the first permanent settlement in America at
Jamestown, Virginia. They did not plan to own slaves even though many thousands of African
slaves were already working in the New England. Also, hundreds thousands of American Salves
worked on Sugar plantations and in mines owned by Spanish and Portuguese colonists in the
Caribbean islands and South America.
Jamestown, colonists hoped to get rich by discovering gold as the Spanish had done in Mexico.
They did not find gold but the did find a climate that was good for growing crops, such as tobacco
that they would sell later to England. After twelve years, Jamestown was founded; a Dutch ship
brought the first African to Virginia. And they start working on tobacco plantations. Some
historians say that these first Africans in America were indentured servants rather than slaves. On
the other hand, some had argued that English plantation owners used the term servant rather than
the term slave.
In 1641, the first English colony in America to consider slavery a legal institution and a Virginia
court in 1663 ruled that the children born to slave mothers would themselves

Psychopathology of Vince Li
The death of greyhound passenger Tim Mclean was caused by the untreated mental illnesses
(antisocial personality disorder and Schizophrenia) of Vince Li. The actions of Vince Li can be
described by using a branch of psychology called psychopathology. Psychopathology is the study of
mental illnesses in individuals. It uses scientific reasoning to help understand how a person s
thoughts and emotions incorporate with their behaviour patterns. In the case of Vince Li, he had
two mental illnesses called antisocial personality disorder and Schizophrenia that made him make a

Family history of Antisocial personality disorder can increase the risk of the newborns being
affected with the mental illness. For the environmental factors, if a child has been abused or
neglected through childhood the child would have a risk of having antisocial personality
disorder through to adulthood (Tuvblad and Beaver, 2014). As adulthood approaches, any
jailtime, alcohol abuse or severe depression increase the risk of having antisocial personality
disorder to a much higher extent. Research has been done to show that Antisocial personality
disorder needs a much larger sensory input for normal brain function. Patients with antisocial
personality disorder are known to have decreased pulse rates, and show less activity in the brain
(Tuvblad and Beaver, 2014). The various studies of the brain suggest that the irregular brain
function is a cause of antisocial behavior. The science behind the brain of a patient with antisocial
personality disorder are the neurotransmitters called serotonin that is directly related with mood
and social behaviour while dopamine is correlated with impulsive/aggressive behaviour (Baker,
Bezdjian, and Raine, 2008). The temporal lobes and the prefrontal cortex aid in controlling the
mood and the behavior of an individual. The poorly controlled brain behavior stems show an
abnormal amount of serotonin and dopamine levels in the brain

Pascal s The Wager, By Simon Blackburn s Vs. An Assessment
In this philosophical paper I will be referencing the works of Blaise Pascal s, The Wager , Simon
Blackburn s Pascal s Wager , and Linda Zagzebski s Pascal s Wager: An Assessment . I will be
comparing Pascal s beliefs with the beliefs of Blackburn and Zagzebski as they discuss different
ways to believein Godand if believing in God is a gamble on ones after life, or simply just
religious preference. I will discuss the works of these three philosophers and explain how their
works may correlate and differ. The question presented in Pascal s work is still relevant, being
over 350 years old, and still left unsolved. Even though times are much different and technology is
much more advanced than when Pascal presented this work in the mid 1600 s.
Blaise Pascal (1623 1662), French mathematician, physicist, and philosopher, argued that to
believe in God, or not to believe in God is a gamble on ones after life. Pascal believed that we, as
human beings on planet Earth are wagering our eternity, after we die, by what we believe during
our current, existing life. Pascal implies there is a heaven and hell. He explains that if one believes
in God and God exists they are granted eternity in heaven and much is gained. However, if God
does not exist and one believes in God, nothing is lost. One would be sent to the same place
whether they believed in a God, or not. Pascal explains that if one does not believe in God and God
does exist that person is doomed for all of

  • 3. Domestic Violence Is A Serious And Ever Growing Problem Domestic Violence Domestic violence is a serious and ever growing problem that the United States is faced with. Many people have suffered from domestic violence, and many more are still suffering even though the abuse ended years ago. Domestic violence victims still continue to suffer from the experience to this day. The effects of domestic violence creates something that will stick with the victim for a lifetime. Because victims fear reporting their problems to the police, many accounts of domestic violence goes unreported (American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, 2001). Ignorance to the problem of domestic violence will lead to many people becoming unsocial, suicidal, depressed, and many other problems. Domestic violence will end when people feel safe with their intimate partners and are comfortable with who they are. People need to be aware of what domestic violence is and what the effects of an abuser are so they can avoid ever getting into a relationship that will eventually lead to violence. If people focus on the problems domestic violence creates, then people will feel safer with their partners and domestic violence will start to decrease in homes. This paper is intended to inform others about what victims of domestic violence suffer from, what they feel, and why they feel it. • 4. Detrimental Effects Of War In A Separate Peace World War II was a very life changing event that demonstrated how much friendships and everyday people could change due to war. One particular novel set during the era of this war proves this point well. In the novel, A Separate Peace by John Knowles, Gene, Finny, and Leper have their own distinct symbols. Gene symbolizes envy and jealousy, Finny embodies kindness and hope, and Leper symbolizes the detrimental effects of war. Throughout the novel, Gene symbolizes envy and jealousy, especially towards Finny. In the middle of chapter 2, Finny and Gene were discussing the recent air raid on Central Europe. Finny brings up that they should celebrate and then mentioned that he would wear a flag. Gene was surprised that he went through with it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In chapter 10, the effects of war towards leper are clearly shown when he goes off on Gene and eventually gets pushed out of his chair: Laughing and crying he lay with his head on the floor and his knees up, [. . .] always were a savage underneath. (145). Clearly, this passage shows how Leper was affected from the war. Even though he doesn t admit it, his body language when he is kicked to the ground could be described as psychotic. Leper wasn t like this at all before the war. He was more like an outcast. In addition, in chapter 10 when Gene is visiting Leper after he escaped from the war, Leper tells him about what he would ve been in if he han t escaped: A Section Eight Discharge is for the nuts in the service, the psychos, the funny farm candidates. (144). In this passage, Leper reveals why he escaped from the war. He wanted to avoid the discharge for the crazy people even though he was one. There was definitely a massive change in Leper from the war. In chapter 11, during the trial Leper flashbacked to memories of the war even though he wasn t involved in heavy conflict: [. . .] and the rays of the sun were shooting past them, millions of rays shooting past them like like golden machine gun fire (174). Here, Leper was intimidated by the trial and eventually reflected back to his memories. Leper never saw that kind of conflict in the military but the scars ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To have random colors of pee and goo stained onto your clothing. To get an IV taped onto an arm so invincibly. To mastering the art of diaper changing. To work with babies to small children to adolescents to young adults, it takes a special dose of generosity and muscle to care for him or her when they re sick. My magnitude and absolute desire to pursue slipping on Elmo scrubs, or in other words, becoming a pediatric nurse is because it s a part of my character. My passion in pursuing to be a nurse in pediatrics started when I was just 11 years old: my first babysitting job. That being said, through the years of caring for children and making some sort of profit through enhancing my sincerity, my aspiration has only grown. Being around children has made me a better child. In particular to this last year, on January 13th, 2017, when my baby ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. Types Of Multiple Personality Disorder What is multiple personality disorder? Multiple personality disorder also known as Dissociative Identity Disorder is a severe condition in which two or more distinct identities, or personality states, are present in and interchangeably take control of an individual. DID is a disorder categorized by identity division rather than a creation of separate personalities. The disorder is not due to the direct psychological effects of a substance or of a general medical condition. DID was called Multiple Personality Disorder until 1994, when the name was changed for a better understanding of the condition. Multiple personality disorder fails to integrate several aspects of identity, memory, and perception in a single multidimensional self. Generally, a prime identity carries the individual s given name and is passive, dependent, guilty and depressed. When in control, each personality state, may be experienced as if it has a different history, self image and identity. The secondary characteristics including name, age and gender, vocabularies, general knowledge, and main mood, differentiate with those of the prime identity. Certain situations or stressors can cause a particular personality to develop. The various identities may deny awareness of one another, be critical of one another or seem to be in an open struggle. Causes of Multiple Personality Disorder Why some people develop DID is not completely understood, but they commonly report having experienced severe physical and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Men and Women in British Literature Essay The portrayal of men and women has varied in different stories throughout history. Many portray women as beautiful, deceptive, manipulative, and smart, while men are portrayed as being strong, masculine, and easily tricked. In many of the works covered in the course Major British Writers to 1800, men are advised to refrain from acting lustful, believed that it would harm their overall ability to succeed in whatever the characters aimed to do. An example of this is seen in Sir Gawain and the Green Knightwhen Gawain is deceived by Lady Bertilak in an effort to prove that Sir Gawain is imperfect. The depictions of men and women are very similar in Fantomina by Eliza Haywood, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, and Phyllis and Aristotle. .... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Sir Gawain was nearly beheaded as was Aristotle in their stories, the result of the deception by Fantomina was an unplanned pregnancy. I feel that Haywood shows morality in this result because, unlike other works, the man is not punished for being deceived, with the only real trouble of Beauplaisir being that he knows of the existence of his child, which is an internal punishment for his actions. Beauplaisir being unpunished and having his name remain untarnished while Fantomina was sent to a monastery with her child is an example of how Haywood remained consistent with the portrayal of other works in regards to male and female portrayal while also distinguishing herself and her work from other works. The portrayal of women in Milton s Paradise Lost is very different from the other works. While women are often seen as being deceitful, devious, and smart, the depiction of Eve is different as she is seen as being dumber and more inferior to Adam in all areas besides beauty. This portrayal of Eve assisted in the progression of Paradise Lost as Eve ate the forbidden apple after being persuaded by Satan to eat the apple. While the incident caused Adam to also disobey God, it created a bond between Adam and Evethat was greater than before the incident when they were considered pure. A strong promotional push will encourage a consideration to employ penetration pricing by entering the market at a relatively low price to gain a high market share. Promotion Promotion should be mainly above the line with television advertising aimed at the target segment. Advertising for the grey pound could be specific in late morning and early afternoon slot relating to healthy activities such as home improvement, cooking and gardening whilst the young professional could be targeted during the earliest sections of breakfast shows and prime time in the evenings. • 9. The Armenian Genocide Summary Eugene Rogan s View on the The Armenian Genocide The Armenian genocide is unfortunately regularly overlooked because of the Holocaust. This is due to the amount killed and the extreme amount of structure in the mass killing somehow gives it a lot more notoriety in western textbooks. There is also the fact that maybe it is underlooked because it s a less western/ eurocentric impact on history and the countries that were involved. Eugene Rogan in his book The Fall of the Ottomans writes an in depth chapter about the armenian genocide and its origins. It paints the picture that first the Ottomans were not ready for a world war of that scale. This is due to the fact that the empire is way to spread out and its people way to differentiated in ethnicity, religion, and allegiances. These differences led to animosity between the Majority muslim and the minority catholic groups, accusing them to be not loyal to the empire which gave them the public support and the reason to kill and push the minority Armenians out of Turkey. I will be talking about in detail about the Chapter relating to the armenian Genocide; its origins and its importance to the fall of the ottoman empire. The Armenian community was made up of three religious denominations: Armenian Catholic, Armenian Protestant, and Armenian Apostolic, the Church of the vast majority of Armenians. Under the millet system, the Armenian community was allowed to rule itself under its own system of governance with fairly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Nietzsche Evil What is it that makes something good? What is it that makes something evil? These are questions that were asked by Nietzsche in his work, Beyond Good and Evil. Nietzsche s answers to these questions were simple; good and evil are ambiguous because they are ultimately subjective. Thus, good and evil are the same thing; yet at the same time, they are complete opposites. Now, this statement is radically paradoxical, but I hope to open your mind up to this concept and explain the importance of recognizing the thin line between good and evil. Everyone s idea of good and evil are dependent on many things, which is why one person s idea on good and evil cannot be completely relied on. Relying on one person s interpretation of good and evil leads to total bigotry. One s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To Nietzsche, good and evil are always subjective, but I believe that there is one thing in this world full of ambiguity and fogginess that is always good. That thing is the power of human love; and furthermore expressing that love through unwavering love of our fellow man. Raw human love cannot possibly be evil. It is the purest, most basic, and most important human emotion to master. If everyone would just love each other despite our different interpretations of good and evil, the world would be a much better place. I think that no matter what religion or culture someone is raised in, love of one another is always regarded as good. Sometimes we all need to be reminded to love our fellow humans regardless of our religion, political outlook, and ideas of good and evil because they are subjective. Love exists beyond good and evil. Now let us discuss the counterpart to good; can anything be inherently evil? Again, Nietzsche would say that nothing is inherently evil, because good and evil are one in the same, however I once again beg to differ. I believe that the absence of love is the only truly evil thing in existence. When we forget to love one another, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The American Dream And The Mortgage Crisis Essay Rojina Shrestha Professor Patricia Ard Critical Reading and Writing 102 9 November 2016 The American Dream and the Mortgage Nightmare Every country s economy is greatly impacted by the beliefs and the attitudes of its citizens; conversely, the action of the people is affected by the country s economy. In other words, economy of a nation and character of the citizens are correlated. For instance, in the United States, the American Dream to own a home had a huge influence on the mortgage crisis in 2008. However, the economy at that time period had been inducing people to buy new home. Likewise, in Greece, the growing trend of corruption and bribery among the people played a major role in shattering its economy. As a consequence of the dreadful economy, Greek people are revolting against their government. While Greece is trying to recover from its devastated state, the overrated American Dream is still a cause of multiple problems in the US. The tendency to use fulfillment of the dream as the measure of success among American people is the one of many reason behind the overall health of people and community and one of the main reason for crisis in 2008. The American Dream of owning a home killed the mediocre reality of middle class people and led to a nightmare of foreclosure and its deadly consequence instead. On the other side of the globe, Greece, a country which used to be the foundation of intellectual and philosophical discoveries, is now toppling over the fault ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Gun Control Policies Applied To Rational And Group Theory... Short Analysis of Gun Control Policies Applied to Rational and Group Theory Models In 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School was victim of a terrible mass shooting that prompted several states and cities to pass strict gun control measures. This sparked a widely debated and controversial issue for gun friendly states in the South and West, who responded with bills that would strengthen Stand Your Ground laws and allow weapons in most public places. The nation continues to be divided on gun control policies, as it is very controversial and continues to be a very hot topic in society today. There has been a rise in gun violence throughout the years, and it has been widely been debated that guns are too easily accessible and there is a continued push for stricter gun laws that can reduce the risk of gun violence. This paper will focus on the implementationof two models of public policy; Group Model and Rational Model. Group Theory begins with, the proposition that interaction among groups is the central fact of politics. Group Theory is when individuals with common interests band together formally or informally to press their demands upon government, a shared attitude group that makes certain claims upon other groups in society (Dye, p. 26). Additionally, this paper will apply the rational model to gun control policies. Rational policy, as defined by Dye, is a policy that gives the majority of society what they want. It has emphasis on achieving maximum social gain (Dye, p.30) Group Theory Model The group theory model, as defined by Dye, reflects that there is power in numbers and that the influence of a group can be determined by numbers, wealth, organizational strength, access to decision makers and internal cohesion (Dye, p.27). As the federal government moves to make strict gun control laws and policies one extremely influential group has had overwhelming success in slowing the process of these policies. That powerful group is known as the National Rifle Association, a group founded in 1871 that has a focus on promoting and encouraging rifle shooting. The NRA, already a large mass of like minded people, has been influencing policy makers for decades via sending letters and eventually developing a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Social Factors That Influence The Patient Doctor Relationship Social Factors in Health 1: Name five social factors that influence the Patient Doctor Relationship? There are many social factors that can impact on the Doctor Patient relationships everything from race to gender. To break it down and find five, I started with Doctors personal views he is under pressure to be ethical when he may not entirely be accepting of a person s beliefs or sexuality. For instance a doctor may be homophobic and have a patient attend surgery asking for advice on practicing safe sex and being HIV aware. Following on from this may be a patients confidence in doctors due to race for example a person who has racist issues would not feel comfortable attending a foreign doctors surgery. To find a third I would have to say gender being a female I tend to talk easier to a female doctor, which persists problems as my female doctor only works three days a week so I put off going to see the male doctor so therefore remain ill longer. My fourth factor is age, as the doctor could be old and the patient adolescent. This would impact on different generations living different lifestyles and changing societies. Adolescence is indeed a tempestuous period , (Thorne, B Lambers.1998). Finally I find language barriers a major social factor as if you can t understand what your doctor is saying to you it has complications in treatment and there is not always a translator available. 2: Discuss how functionalists/ interactionalists / Marxists might view these ... • 20. Ophelia, By William Shakespeare Essay Ophelia is a terminal character in Hamlet, whose death is caused by a lack of self control and self knowledge. Her father controls her life, and when he dies, her life is essentially over. This poses the question: why does the death of Polonius bring on the complete collapse and destruction of Ophelia? Polonius controls Ophelia, and does a substantial amount of her thinking. Without him, she has no direction in her life and no way to express herself as she has been so suppressed her entire life, and all of a sudden she is free. She does not know what to do with herself. It is possible that Hamlets rejection of Ophelia contributes to her madness, it is possible that her not being a virgin contributes to it, and it is also possible that she has lost all control due to the series of events that have proven her lack of worth in this patriarchal society. This essay will argue that with her father gone, Ophelia no longer knows what to do with her life, and has no intended purpose since no one is invested in her life anymore. In order to clearly understand the dynamics between Polonius and Ophelia, it is crucial to understand Polonius as a person. First, it is important to look at what people in the kingdom, specifically Hamlet, think about him. By comparing the what people think about him and his actions, his character can accurately be predicted. In other words, the first prong requires the court to question the intent of the government or group in charge of creating the policy; the second prong asks the court to determine the result of the policy and its effects on religion, and the last prong asks the court to not complicate the dynamic of the church and the state (Speich 275). Over time, local cultures can be diffused across wide areas, even continents. He is the founder of the Center for Development of Disadvantaged People (CDDP) one of a few recognized non profit organizations in India. Hence, the Irulas did not have other choices but use Sethu s new traps if they wanted to change the way to catch rats. 3. What characteristics of the entrepreneur enabled their success? Sethu had many characteristics of an ideal social entrepreneur. Among those characteristics, the thing distinguishing him from others may be his concern for the community. Being inspired by Mahatma Gandhi the Father of the Nation, Sethu always thought of ways to bring a better life for the poor in India. This is probably the reason why he realized the problem of the old way of catching rats of the Irulas and did not stop thinking of a solution. In addition, Sethu obtained an appropriate education and experience in doing social entrepreneurship. Sethu studied in Gandhi s school in India, where he was instructed to use Gandhi s method to improve lives for the poor, solve human conflicts and introduce new ideas. • 38. Family And Family Essay To a lot of people, having the same blood running through your veins, means a lot. To some it means that it automatically claims you to be family. Others may think being blood related means you re more important to them then someone who may not be. But to me, blood has nothing to do with who you care about and who you consider family. It doesn t shape you as a person and doesn t define who you are going to be. I am adopted, therefore, most of my family and I do not share the same DNA. But I have learned that it doesn t matter if you have the same color hair as your mother, or the same eyes as your father. What matters is the love and the care that people share for you, that s what makes you family. Just because someone may share the same physical characteristics as you, doesn t mean you will have the same emotional characteristics. For me, this is something I have had to learn a lot over time. My biological mother and father weren t the best role models. I was taken away from them at the age of five and put into foster care. As I was growing up I had this growing fear that I would be exactly like them. I have younger siblings, and for a lot of my life I ve had to look over them and be their support system. I was constantly worried I was not enough for them, I would worry that I would let them down. I knew what it felt like to feel like you are alone and to be let down over and over again by the people that you thought cared the most. And I never wanted my brothers or ... • 39. How Did Emily Dickinson s Life Influence Her Poetry Emily Dickinson Her Life and Poetry Emily Elizabeth Dickinson was born December 10, 1830, into an influential family in Amherst, Massachusetts. Her father helped found Amherst College, where Emily later attended between 1840 and 1846. She never married and died in the house where she was born on May 15, 1886. Emily Dickinson s reclusive life was arguably a result of her proposed bi polar disorder. This life and disorder unduly influenced the themes of her poetry. She chose not to associate herself with society and volumes of her poems, published posthumously, examine this idea as well as the themes of nature and death. The clearest examples of these themes are presented in the following analysis of just of few of her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This poem conjures images of a solemn ceremony in which the soul reigns superior by shutting out everyone, including the emperor, similar to the shutting out of everyone that Dickinson did. In one of Dickinson s most famous poems, I heard a Fly buzz, the theme of death is presented as well as a symptomatic characteristic of bi polar disorder. The poem itself epitomizes her preoccupation with death and the macabre and also shows how the small, normally ignorable sound of a fly buzzing becomes the only thing heard, she magnifies this sound in a situation when it seems that everything else is much more important, but this inability to drown out extraneous noises is typical of someone suffering from manic depression. The form of this poem employs all of Dickinson s formal patterns: trimeter and tetrameter iambic lines, her specific use of the dash to interrupt the meter of the poem, and it is in ABCB rhyme scheme. Two of Dickinson s universal techniques are metaphor and the fresh application of language; both techniques result in powerful images, and can be seen in two of her poems that focus on nature themes, A Bird came down the Walk and narrow Fellow. She closes the poem, A Bird with a stanza equating flight through the air with movement through water, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In last week s Torah portion, things in Canaan had become pretty bad for Jacob s family, so he sent his sons to Egypt to bring back food for the family. At the end of last week s parashah, Joseph s brothers are standing before him in Egypt, seeking food for their starving family, but they still don t know who Joseph is. At this point in the story, Joseph has become someone with great power in the Egyptian government, and decides to test his brothers, to see if they ve changed at all since they tried to kill him many years before. He demands that they bring back their youngest brother, Benjamin, before he agrees to help them. When they return with Benjamin, Joseph orders his servants to place his silver goblet in Benjamin s bag. Just as all the brothers are leaving, with food and supplies, Joseph orders his guards to search the bags, and they find Joseph s goblet in Benjamin s bag. As punishment, Joseph threatens to keep Benjamin and send his brothers back to their father s home without him. This is where we pick up this week, with the brothers standing before Joseph, trying to figure out how to get their brother back. They still don t know that they are actually talking to Joseph, their brother. They plead Joseph to let them return with Benjamin, saying that their father will die if they return without him. Joseph still refuses. Then Judah steps up and offers to stay as slave instead of Benjamin. When Joseph sees Judah offering himself in Benjamin s place, he can no longer hide his identity any longer. He sends everyone else out of the room and, crying, tells them that he is their brother, Joseph. Jewish tradition sees Judah s actions here as an important example of the value of teshuvah, which means repentance, or repairing a relationship. Before, Judah was the one who came up with the plan to kill Joseph, and, according to the rabbis, when Judah offers to take Benjamin s place, Joseph realizes how much Judah has changed and decides to reveal himself. Research has been done to show that Antisocial personality disorder needs a much larger sensory input for normal brain function. Patients with antisocial personality disorder are known to have decreased pulse rates, and show less activity in the brain (Tuvblad and Beaver, 2014). The various studies of the brain suggest that the irregular brain function is a cause of antisocial behavior. An Assessment In this philosophical paper I will be referencing the works of Blaise Pascal s, The Wager , Simon Blackburn s Pascal s Wager , and Linda Zagzebski s Pascal s Wager: An Assessment . I will be comparing Pascal s beliefs with the beliefs of Blackburn and Zagzebski as they discuss different ways to believein Godand if believing in God is a gamble on ones after life, or simply just religious preference. I will discuss the works of these three philosophers and explain how their works may correlate and differ. One would be sent to the same place whether they believed in a God, or not. Pascal explains that if one does not believe in God and God does exist that person is doomed for all of ...
