Buying Feminine Hygiene Products For People Magazine s...
ADVERTISER AND MEDIUM The advertiser for this product is Energizer, who is a
manufacturer. This advertisement was shown in People magazine s July 2015 edition.
MARKET SITUATION Carefree is a lesser known and lesser used brand in comparison to its
competitors, so its important for their ads to really resonate with their target market.
Competition in this industry is mainly between Tampax, Always, and Playtex, which almost
leaves Carefree out of the running. Carefree products are sold in Target, Walmart, and
drugstores like Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aid. Another thing to consider with this industry are
the consumer attitudes towards these products. A lot of women tend to be embarrassed when
buying feminine hygiene products because of the social stigma around periods, but the fact is
that they still have to buy them. So, when the consumers go to the store to purchase these type
of products they ll usually purchase the same product every time because they know it works,
they know where it is in the store, and they know the price, which makes the whole process go
quickly. TARGET MARKET CUSTOMER PROFILE This print ad was published in People
magazine. 70% of people s readers are women, the majority of them falling into the 18 44 age
range, with median age of 38. Most of the women readers are employed, with college degrees.
Another percentage of readers are women with one or more children in their household (42%).
Although the magazine does reach mainly women, the median

American Film Noir
There have been several debates over a long period of time concerning the validity of film noir as
a distinct genre. Essays and books have debated the term for years using various criteria and
rubrics to back up their respective positions on the subject. As the 21st century brings new and
creative trends from screenwriting to post production and everything in between, the boundaries of
noir become even less certain. One may even find a fitting parallel between the noir protagonist s
ambiguous and perilous quest with that of the hapless and naГЇve academic in search of an
unequivocal definition of noir itself. This essay aims at summarizing the evolution of American
film noir to present day, by using seminal works to determine how these films have become
influenced by American cinematic trends of postmodern narrative structures and subjectivity.
History of Noir
The argument to be made is that, with the emergence of cinematic technological advances coupled
with postmodernism s abandonment of meta narratives and traditional socio cultural identities,
filmmakers are digging even deeper into the dark recesses of the human consciousness and using
noir as a platform. It is not very surprising that to date no other genre relies more on the fragility and
temperamental nature of the human condition more. Oftentimes characters in a noir narrative are
either vindicated or condemned based

The Reid Report
The Reid Report is an overt integrity test that measures counterproductive behavior in potential
employees, such as theft, tardiness, drug use, turnover, and absenteeism. It currently is called the
Reid Report Risk Assessment and can be used in any organization for any job position. The Reid
Report has five different measures to predict the potential employee s performance, attitude, and
behavior. The five measures are business ethics, integrity attitudes, social behavior, substance use,
and work background (Human Capital Risk Management, 2015). The first measure, business ethics,
is used to assess whether the applicant would behave ethically in the workplace and follow the
policies and rules set by the organization. Integrity attitudes assesses... Show more content on

The newest version is called the Reid Report Risk Assessment with ethics. The Reid Report Risk
Assessment with ethics was created by Vangent, Inc. in 2010, however, General Dynamics
Information Technology took over Vangent Inc. and gained the copyright to the Reid Report
(Reid Report Risk Assessment Features Critical New Ethics Scale, 2010). Soon afterwards,
General Dynamics Information Technology added the Reid Report Risk Assessment for
cybersecurity and the Reid Report Risk Assessment for collusion avoidance (Human Capital Risk
Management, 2015). The two new tests are specialized for certain areas. One focuses on
identifying those applicants who have a history of hacking into systems and posing a threat to the
company s database. The other focuses on identifying potential candidates who could work with
organized criminals to steal information from the company or valuable products (Human Capital
Risk Management, 2015). The Reid Report Risk Assessment with ethics scale is a little different
from the original Reid Report. The newest version has new questions pertaining to social behavior
and substance use (Reid Report Risk Assessment Features Critical New Ethics Scale, 2010). The
new version also includes possible interview questions employers can utilize as a pre employment

The Global Economy Has Become Large Size, Breadth And...
The global economy has become massive in size, breadth and diversity. There are enormous
opportunities but they are also fraught with complexity. The interconnectedness between fast
growing and mature regions has vastly increased the complexity, number and range of stakeholder
relationships that must be managed. Business complexityis increasing every day. Although
initiating a business is easier than a decade ago, sustaining and growing a business is more
difficult than ever. When you consider the last decades leading organizations, some of them have
already vanished or lost market share despite their large size. Some of today s leading organizations
may not exist in the next decade due to challenges in managing complexity.
One of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When you reduce complexity, you increase your ability to implement new solutions, says AndrГ©
Mendes, CIO of the Special Olympics. Complexity leads to brittleness and high costs, notes Frank
Modruson, CIO of Accenture. But if you get your technology cleaner, you can serve the business
more easily. Today, all CIOs are standing in the path of a fire hose spewing complexity. And many
are getting soaked.
Within IT, factors that increase complexity include outsourcing management, the adoption of Web
and consumer technologies, and support for mobile workforces, developing and managing
technology architectures and governance for those workforces, and ensuring security in a
distributed environment. Outside of IT s direct control, complexity is increased by the
requirements of compliance, the need to support global business, and the speed and depth of
access to information demanded by your customers and your partners. Companies can with
difficulty handle these challenges individually, one at a time. But in the real world companies face
many, if not all, of these challenges, all at once, over and over. That s why you need a strategy to
keep complexity out of the environment. The challenge of complexity is exacerbated by the fact

Mrs. Ryan and the Priest Influence Jackie s Attitude To...
How do Mrs. Ryan and the priest influence Jackie s attitude to religion?
First Confession is the story of how Jackie, a seven year old boy, makes his first confession
before his first communion. The story takes place in Ireland at the beginning of the 20th century
and is based on O Connor s own childhood. It is interesting to see how two opposite characters,
Mrs. Ryan and the priest, can influence so much the kid s thoughts: Mrs. Ryan instills him fear
while the priest helps him to overcome this fear.
Mrs. Ryan is the women encharged of preparing Jackie and his class mates to take their first
communion. She has to get them closer to God and turn them into good Catholics. Apart from what

He thought some of his sins were too horrible as to be confessed to a priest, and tried to bypass
confession by staying at home the day he was going to confess at school. But that wasn t enough to
escape from it, even though he was scared to death.
Jackies second link to religion was the priest with whom he made his first confession. Jackie
immediately likes the priest as he defends him from his sister Nora the moment he meets him.
After calling Nora a vixen and Jackie a poor man and big hefty fellow , Jackie thinks he is
intelligent above ordinary , and immediately tells him his major sin. Although it takes him a while
to react, the priest seems to understand Jackie when he s told that he planned to kill his
grandmother with a kitchen knife, and shows interest in the kids plans. This makes Jackie feel
close to the priest and really comfortable, to the extent of being sorry of having to leave. He
thought he was the most interesting character he d ever met in the religious line , and leaves the
church happily and with no fear of returning.

Queen Elizabeth I As Unworthy Of The Throne
Queen Elizabeth I was underestimated by many and was seen as unworthy of the throne. Queen
Elizabeth I had a successful reign full of victories and power and was able to make sixteenth
century England a thriving nation. The middle and upper class were living comfortably and
England s tin, coal, and led industries were taking off (Lambert, par. 1). The reign of Queen
Elizabeth I was strong and powerful (Boatner, par. 7). She not only kept the nation strong but
united as one. As triumphant as her life may seem, she did deal with a difficult childhood and an
almost inexistent love life. Her lack of romantic relationships is why she is now known as England
s virgin queen, she died having never gotten married and without any children (Brimacombe 28).
Queen Elizabeth I had a huge ascendency on the prosperity of England throughout her whole life:
her childhood, adulthood and her golden years. This essay will discuss the hardships, triumphs and
the influence that Queen Elizabeth I had during her time on the throne within the different stages of
her life: her childhood, adulthood and her golden years. The Renaissance, as defined by the
Encyclopedia Britannica, literally means the rebirth of European civilization (www.britannica.com).
People started gaining interest in classical scholarship and values (www.britannica.com). During
the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, one of her most recognized victories was the Spanish Armada. It

Alternative Healthcare Options Or Alternative Medicine
Introduction
Alternative healthcare options or alternative medicine is any of various systems of healing or
treating disease (such as acupuncture, chiropractic, homeopathy, or faith healing) that is not
included under traditional medical practice in the United States and Britain (Webster dictionary).
Alternative medicine is the term used for medical products and practices that are not part of the
standard of care. Standard of care is what medical doctors, doctors of traditional medicine, and
allied health professionals, such as nurses and physical therapists, practice. Alternative medicine is
used in place of standard medical care. Examples of alternative practices that do not include
traditional medicine are aroma therapy, diet therapy, herbalism, homeopathy, massage therapy,
reflexology, chiropractic therapy, cannabis, faith or spiritual healing and acupuncture amongst
others (Medicine.net). Alternative medical systems are built upon complete systems of theory and
practice sometimes these systems develop into something substantial; some if these systems have
even developed in western cultures. Examples of alternative medical systems that have developed
in Western cultures are homeopathic medicine and naturopathic medicine. Examples of systems
that have developed in non Western cultures include traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurveda
(Medicine.net). There are more than a hundred different types of alternative medicine but there are
five key types of alternative

Proponents Of Lawyer Dissatisfaction Discredit The...
C. Reasons to Question Survey Data
Proponents of lawyer dissatisfaction discredit the reliability of survey data in several ways. First,
proponents look at the procedural and substantive defects inherent to survey testing. Second,
proponents highlight related survey data such as the high levels of lawyer depression, alcoholism,
and suicide rates, to name a few which are complimentary to the view that many lawyers are
dissatisfied. Last, proponents and opponents alike, suggest that lawyers may be in denial or
untruthful when responding to satisfaction surveys. Therefore, proponents of lawyer
dissatisfaction argue that survey data is unreliable in measuring lawyer dissatisfaction. David
Chambers, a law professor at the University of Michigan Law School, argues that procedural and
substantive defects inherent to survey data make it an unreliable method for measuring lawyer
dissatisfaction. First, most lawyers only place themselves above the midpoint on a satisfaction
scale, which is barely more positive than negative. Second, surveys are conducted at a specific
time and place, and therefore do not give a complete analysis of satisfaction. Last is the fact that
many lawyers do not respond to surveys; and this is likely to be the most true among lawyers that
are the least satisfied. As a result, the deference given to positive claims about lawyer satisfaction
are not grounded in reliable evidence. Positive survey data on lawyer satisfaction cannot be
reconciled with

Common themes touched on by many managers that were interviewed who had implemented
organizational rules centered on order in the firm and the stability that organizational rules provide
for worker manager relations. The strengths of the program made the global aspect of the company
be more adjacent to the understanding what they really needed to work on to make the company
be more efficient and successful. McDonald s LAMP program is a great start for the company to
have the right people in place to understand the positions that were expected of them to keep the
organization on the move. The LAMP program had 5 key components which included executive
assessment and program orientation; 2. Individual development planning and executive dialogues;
3. Leadership modules focused on leadership of self, team, and organization with experiential
exercise to reinforce the learning; 4. A two week executive education program with a focus on
global business and culture; 5. Business improvement recommendation presented to the chairman s

because that is what drives the business. McDonald needs to make sure that they are using good

The Riverton Community Pool Is Located Just Off Of Forest Ave
The Riverton Community Pool is located just off of Forest Ave in Portland, and is attached to the
Riverton Community Center, including a library and gymnasium, and Riverton Elementary. The
facility features a large parking lot with plenty of spaces for both employees and patrons. After
entering the building, the location of the poolis not extremely clear; there are no signs directing
patrons to the pool area. The production space is well lit by lights that are around the pool (but
not above), and does not smell of overwhelming chlorine. The pool is 25 meters long with six
lanes. The pool also has a shallow and deep end, with the shallowest point being four feet deep, and
the deepest point being 13 ВЅ feet deep. The floor surrounding the pool is made of tile to prevent
patrons from slipping and falling when the floor is wet. The walls surrounding the building are
made of cinderblocks that were painted white. These types of walls tend to echo, so the ceiling
and upper walls are lined with sound panels to reduce the extra noise. The temperature of the
water falls anywhere between 80 and 83 degrees fahrenheit so patrons do not overheat when
swimming. The air is also kept around 83 degrees to help keep patrons warm when they exit the
water. Unfortunately, a master plan was unable to be located online or at the facility. Master plan

DISCUSSION To evaluate how successful our experimentation was in showing H reflex, only
comparisons with numeric values and trends in data within literature are applicable. The results
which were shown in figure 1 for the CMAPs where the amplitude of the CMAPs increased as the
perceived tension increased were to be expected. Because in order for a greater force to be applied
there must be increased force of contraction, which the amplitude demonstrates, through electrical
activation intensity. Also frequency of contraction may be increased aswell, as more muscle fibres
are recruited when an increased effort is exerted, however in the figure it is hard to determine
whether there has been a change in the frequency of action potentials. Though... Show more content

The case study I chose is that of six year old Tavion Robinson who was taken to Methodist
Hospital by his father for a broken arm and abrasions. There were a couple of things in this case
that could insinuate that the broken arm and abrasions were not an accident. The father being
hesitant to leave Tavion alone with hospital staff was the first red flag that something could be
wrong. Secondly, Mr. Robinson s request that he be notified prior to releasing Tavion s records to
anyone. Thirdly, informing the Emergency Department that Tavion s parents are divorced and that

I do believe that Tavion s mother has the right to view his records especially if she suspects
abuse. Along with the inconsistencies of the finding of the injuries and the suspicions of the
mother I feel that this is enough reason to investigate the suspicion of child abuse. The concerns
of the mother is valid and she also is aware of how the father handles his son on a day to day
basis she isn t suspicious for no reason at all. There is history amongst the adults before they
divorced she knows how he was disciplined as a kid and he could be using the same discipline as
that in which his parents used on him. The mother has several avenues that she can take on her
suspicions she could talk to the social worker at the hospital, the Department of Family Protective
Services or contact the police. The ethical issue we are dealing with is the mother wanting the
hospital documents of her son s visit and the father denying her access without him being consulted.
Also the injuries not matching up to the father s story.
Confidentially will be the legal issue in this case regarding Tavion s medical records. Of course
the father s request of being contact if there is a request to view the files makes him look
suspicious and makes it appear he is hiding something. However, if the hospital staff suspects that

Essay Pres, Truman Atomic Bomb Decision
President Truman s Decision to drop the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki During World
War II the war in Europe ended after the unconditional German surrender at General Eisenhower s
Headquarters in Reims, France, May 7, 1945. After the unconditional German surrender in Europe
the war shifted to Asia and the Pacific. As the war continued against Japan the Allied forces
captured islands such as Iwo Jima and Okinaawa close to Japan brought the Japanese homeland
within range of naval and air attacks. (Dannen) On August 6, 1945, the city of Hiroshima was the

After they recount the intensity of these battles, the bombs follow logically as a pardon from
further carnage by our amphibious invasions of the Japanese home islands. This was one
political technique used to manipulate the decision of President Truman. President Truman
must have kept in mind the personal political implications of his decision to drop the bomb.
With polls showing that Americans overwhelmingly supported the unconditional surrender of
Japan and with his knowing the strong anti Japanese sentiments of the American people, I must
have felt that I had little political risk in dropping an atomic bomb on Japan. (Harry Truman)
President Truman must have also considered his difficulty in explaining to American voters why
the government spent two billion dollars to develop a superior weapon if he personally decided
not to deploy it, especially if the war had dragged on with additional American casualties. Here is
an entry from Truman s diary, I have to decide Japanese strategy shall we invade Japan proper or
shall we bomb and blockade? That is my hardest decision to date. But I ll make it when I have all
the facts. (Ferrell) President Truman told his diary that he had ordered the bomb dropped on a
purely military target, so that military objectives and soldiers the target and women and children

Essay on Racism and Interracial Marriage in Othello
Racism and Interracial Marriage in Othello
Othello: The Moor of Venice is probably Shakespeare s most controversial play. Throughout this
work, there is a clear theme of racism, a racism that has become commonplace in Venetian society
which rejects the marriage of Othello and Desdemona as anathema. The text expresses racism
throughout the play within the language transaction of the dialogue to question the societal ethos
established by Othello, thereby making him nothing less than a cultural other. Furthermore, the
character of Desdemona is displayed as mad, or out of her wits, for marrying such an other, and
the audience sees her slip from an angelic state of purity to that of a tainted character. Also, the

Why else would he address the senator Brabantio with something that was really none of his
business? If one believes that miscegenation is a taboo currently manifested within the play then
he/she will see how Iago was acting as a representative of society a synecdoche responsible for
pointing out that something has gone wrong with a hidden purpose or motive that was the locus
for his actions. Iago is the antithetical character of Shakespeare s creation. He is the catalyst of all
the destructive happenings within the play starting from the very beginning of the play when he
and Roderigo approach the residence of Brabantio, Desdemona s father, in Act 1 scene 1. He
uses racist language to appeal to the senator s traditional beliefs, including such phrases as Even
now, now, very now, an old black ram / Is tupping your white ewe (1.1.85 86). Iago even goes so
far as to hypothesize that Brabantio s grandchildren will be animals because of his daughter s base
marriage with an other.
you ll have your daughter covered with a Barbary
horse, you ll have your nephews neigh to you
you ll have coursers for cousins, and gennets for
germans. (1.1.108 111)
Iago plays out the importance of his role when he further states that he is the one, almost as if he
were appointed to such a position, who must inform Brabantio that his daughter and the Moor were
making the beast with two backs (1.1.112 113). But

I disagree to the most part I was basically a single parent even when I was married, and I would

can be a lot more aggressive than men in particular situations and they do try to dominate and
take control of a lot of conflicts, and still trying to avoid conflict. But being raised by an
authoritarian parent I need to be in control of the situation a hand, or think that I need to be,
even if it is not my place. Also I believe people get the ques from watching TV it looks so
glamorous, and the sitcom families even when there in trouble it s funny when it happens in the

Why Did The Glass Not Fit In The Picture Frame Right Away
1. Why did the glass not fit in the picture frame right away? Explain what you did to solve the
issue in detail? The glass didn t fit in mine at the start because the wood wasn t even to the other
pieces of wood. So in doing this I had to go to the miter saw and fix the angle and cut off the wood
that made it like that. Another reason why the glassdidn t fit is because when the pieces of wood
wasn t clamped and it wasn t together tightly leaving gaps in the spaces between the wood, when
this happened I had to sand it better and see if I had to cut anything extra off. Also the lip
holding the glass was too small so, this made me have to fix and make the cut bigger. 2. What
other issues did you run into and how did you go about solving them? Some things that I ran into
was the fact that I had to fix the cutting because one piece was bigger than the other and the fact
that I had to sand some excess pieces that the miter saw would not cut... Show more content on

do that I would see what the problem is. Following that I would use the different tools to fix it.
In this I would use the miter saw. To fix the angles and use the sanders to fix any access piece I
had hanging off my project stopping me from gluing. 3. Reflect on how you felt not having step

Descriptive Dining At Home
You finally meet a significant other and you want to impress them with an appetizing home
cooked meal. Unfortunately, your idea of fine dining at home is Raman Noodles served in a
bowl and not in the foam cup. Raman Noodles, even served in a bowl, will not impress any date.
Now picture yourself sharing a warm, freshly crafted pizza. A pizza with fried chickensmothered
with provolone cheese. A pizza with a pop of flavor provided by bell peppers. A pizza seamlessly
put together with ranch dressing. This simple recipe for chicken ranch pizza will make you
resistible to any date. To complete the following recipe, you will need one boneless chicken breast
(an ideal size for the chicken breast is the size of your hand), soy sauce, lemon juice, a bell pepper,
shredded provolone cheese, salt, Cayenne pepper, flour, olive oil, one large egg, and one frozen
cheese pizza (preferably Di Giorno rising crust). First you need to prep the chicken breast. If
your chicken breast is frozen, let your chicken breast thaw. To speed up the thawing process, you
may use a microwave. However, set the microwave to defrost mode before thawing your
chicken, which will prevent the chicken from drying out and will keep the chicken moist. Thaw
the chicken, on defrost mode, for approximately five to six minutes. After thawing the chicken,
take a sharp knife and make a horizontal cut across the middle of the breast. Always act carefully
when working knives. Remember to keep the blade down and always cut away from yourself. Cut
the chicken into long strips with roughly one quarter inch of thickness. Reducing the thickness of
the breast will reduce the amount of time needed to cook the chicken fully. Now make a vertical
cut every half inch to both strips of chicken. The chicken pieces should resemble the size and shape
of your middle and ring fingercombined. After cutting the chicken, wash hands thoroughly with
warm water and soap. Always wash your hands after touching raw meat to prevent cross
commination. Do not touch any other ingredient before washing your hands.
Next you need to assemble the marinade for the chicken. Start with a deep dish baking pan and
add one and half cups of soy sauce or until the bottom of the pan is

Three Types of Friends Essay examples
Through my experiences I have come to realize that there are basically three types of friends a
person can have. There are friends that I call sometimes friends, these people appear to be your
friend but only when you are face to face with them, and when you are not around them they act
more like a foe. They are often referred to as two faced or a back stabber. These types of friends
are not very reliable nor should they be trusted. Another type of friend a person can have, and the
best kind, is a true friend. A true friend is someone you know you can always trust and rely on no
matter what. The last type of friend is the acquaintance . These are the type of friends that you do
not necessarily hate, but at the same time you do... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These people are not very reliable and should not be trusted with things of a personal matter or
with things of great importance. You should confront this person and let them know how you
are feeling about the way they are treating you. Let them know how things look from your point
of view. If they are a true friend they will try to correct their ways and start acting like a real
friend would act. If they do not change their ways and they continue to take advantage of you, it
would probably be smart of you not to associate with them anymore. An acquaintance friend is
someone who you will usually encounter every so often for business needs or for some other
reason. You most likely are on good terms with these people, but they are not considered close
friends whom you would talk to about personal problems. They could be someone at the grocery
store where you shop at, the place where you work, the barber shop or salon where you get your
hair cut, or maybe the convenience store where you get gas at. They usually seem as if they are
good people and friendly. The acquaintance friend has the potential to become somewhat closer
over time if there are enough meetings between the two of you. Most friends that people say are
good friends were just an acquaintance at some point in time, but became closer as they got to
know each other better. Last,

The Crisis Of American Politics
The authors of this book gave a vivid picture of how America has lost his way in the world that it
invented. They went further to portray how America has been on a decline both economically and
politically based on many challenges they are facing presently like inability to adapt to
globalization, acclimatizing with the revolution in information technology, battling with chronic
deficits because of its increasing weight on government, and pattern of excessive energy
consumption. Additionally, they analyzed how China s educational accomplishment, industrial
mastery, and technological attainment remind them when America was in that position. Again,
they explained how the crisis of American political system and the grinding down of the vital
American ideals or morals have made it difficult for America to carry out the actions they urgently
needs. Nevertheless, the authors expressed the opinion that, it all America irrespective the class
one belong can move beyond psychological barrier, and pay attention to the problems and potential
solutions with clarity, the problems can be indeed reversed. In addition, both authors strongly have
faith that the recovery of American greatness is very possible. They went further to explain the
need for Americans to go back to the drawing board and properly understand their history because it
will help them in pushing the American renewal. Also, they went further to suggest some pillars of
prosperity when adopted, will enable America to

Cognitive Dissonance Paper
Introduction
The words Cognitive Dissonance were fascinatingly interesting; therefore more research went
into the origin of these two words. Both words are Middle English, which was the English in use
from 12th to 15th centuries and both used in the 15th century [ (Merriam Webster, 2011) ].
Cognitive is an adjective meaning, there is physical activity involving the mind; be it: thinking,
reasoning or remembering. Dissonance is a noun meaning, when there is a tug of war between
one s actions and one s mind [ (Merriam Webster, 2011) ].This paper will explore that tug of war
of the mind (conscious) and actions (subconscious) and how one can and will justify behavior that

Explanation
Cognitive Dissonance Theory (delete if there are no others)
According to Leon Festinger (1957), Dissonance and consonance are relations among cognitions
that is, among opinions, beliefs, knowledge of the environment, and knowledge of one s own
actions and feelings. Two opinions, or beliefs, or items of knowledge are dissonant with each other
if they do not fit together (p. 25). When the cognitions are of opposite actions or feelings, they are
dissonant.
Cognitive dissonance can perpetuate a conflict and in Alice s situation, it did. Alice, by definition,
is an honest, hardworking adult with morals and values. However, she encountered a personal
situation with her boyfriend that caused her to have dissonant cognitions. She knew it was wrong
to call her employer and inform them she was ill and unable to go to work. Calling her employer
and lying about her state of health caused discomfort (that is what dissonance does) and to justify
lying, she tries to convince herself she did the right thing. This justification comes

Political Beliefs Of Alexander Hamilton Vs. Thomas Jefferson
Alexander Hamilton vs. Thomas Jefferson
Democracy is defined as, A government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and
exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving
periodically held free elections (Merriam Webster). This means that the basis for American
government is a firm belief in the common people that they have the knowledge and power to
choose leaders to guide the government in the right direction. In the 1790s there was a monumental
political debate over whether the constitution should be ratified and if in needed a bill of rights, and
at the center of the debate was Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson. While they both believed
democracy was the best form of government for the new nation, both men had very different ideas
about how to shape the government and its entities. Thomas Jefferson is the better spokesperson a
democratic government because of his political beliefs and inherent belief in human reason, a
conviction that is not held by Alexander Hamilton.
Thomas Jefferson was a enthusiastic supporter of American democracy through his support for the
anti federalist and belief that the citizens had the capacity to choose a leader. Jefferson s party, the
anti federalists, would only endorse the constitution if there was also a bill of rights written. They
wanted to protect civil liberties of the everyday farmer. This proves Jefferson s support of
democracy because he is trying to protect the

her life story is extremely inspiring to me, she devoted her life to God in which she became a

The Demon Lover, An Analysis Essay
In The Demon Lover, by Elizabeth Bowen, Kathleen Drover returns to London from her house
in the country in order to gather some things that she and her husband had abandoned during the
bombings of the war. It is a humid, rainy day in late August and her once familiar street is now
mostly deserted. The caretaker of her house is supposed to be out of town for a week and her
arrival is assumed unknown. Mrs. Drover enters the old musty house and discovers a letter
addressed to herself and it is marked with the present date. Curious to know if the caretaker is
back in town and a little annoyed by the letter seeming to have no urgency in being mailed to her,

When she was nineteen she made a promise to her fianc #233;, who her mother claimed was set
on her, not in love. A couple months after he left for war he was reported missing and presumed
dead. At thirty two she met and married her current husband and had children. Now, it seems that
the demon wants his fianc #233; to keep her promise. Bowen may have chosen to give her the last
name of Drover, because a drover is someone who herds animals to market and it seems as though
her fate will meet the same demise as the demon takes her away. Mrs. Drovers internal conflict
occurred when she did not come through on the promise that she made and now, it seem she can
not even recall what the promise was. She is faced with an external conflict as well because she
will no longer have her family. She is in the hands of a demon. The third person objective point

Voltaire And Martin s Use Of Optimism In Candide
Candide, a novel based on its author s sardonic view of the philosophy rich 18th century Europe,
illustrates unwavering optimism. Ultimately, Voltaire only disputes living in the best of all
possible worlds when one does not go work in the garden, (Voltaire 144). He believes one has to
work and put forth effort in order for everything to be for the best.
Voltairecreated Pangloss to be an optimistic and abstract philosopher that epitomizes the idle
thinkers of the time that he deemed utterly ridiculous; he despised philosophers arguing without
understanding the outside world. Pangloss s ceaseless preaching about everything being for the
best keeps himself as well as Candide from participating in the realm around them. For example,
rather than saving the Anabaptist s life, Candide prioritizes Pangloss s outlook on his death s
convenience. It is proved, he used to say, that things cannot be other than they are, for since
everything was made for a purpose, it follows that everything is made for the best purpose, (Voltaire
20). Thus, it is not until they leave the castle that they learn anything different. ... Show more

Throughout this poetry unit, we analyzed numerous pieces of literature. Through looking at
different mediums, we examined how the inventive use of language in poetry boosts
communication and empowers self expression. This gave me a whole new insight on several
notions within our unit.
It made me recognize how poetry is not just a couple of rhyming short lines with a rhythm, but
much more than that. Poetry is a form of self expression; it is a means of imparting one s unique
ideas through conveying their perspective and feelings to the audience. It provokes emotions,
elucidates ideas and delivers a strong, perceptive message in an artistic way. Poems have a common

By merely reading a poem, one can identify the writer s mood, which reveals the self expression
aspect of poetry. When contemplating a poem s structural characteristics, such as style, expressions
and diction, the poet s emotions and condition is easily unravelled. For instance, The Old Familiar
Faces explored a poignant, sorrowful tone with the repetition of tragic expressions throughout. This
helped portray the theme of nostalgia and uncover the poet s condition when writing the poem. This

Howard Nemerov s The Vacuum
The Vacuum Analysis
Grief is the price we pay for love. Queen Elizabeth II.As the quote above explains to love
something that can die is to welcome pain. The poem, The Vacuum focuses on the private aspect
of life where one spouse dies leaving the other alone after many years. The speaker in the poem is
battling grief and cannot bring himself to use the vacuum cleaner because his late wife used to take
pride in a clean house. The composition implies that the speaker no longer cares about life now that
his wife has died. The first few lines of the poem heavily foreshadow death, but do not directly
address the event that has occurred. Howard Nemerov uses harsh, brutal diction such as stopped
lung , dog dead , and old woman to imply the pain and isolation the speaker feels the word choice
also gives the poem a depressing mood. Giving flashbacks to the past illuminates the theme of
chaos and order in the poem. When the speaker s wife was alive she used to crawl, in the corner
and under the stair as to make sure every nook and cranny was clean, but now old filth is
everywhere. Creating the image in the reader s mind of a man sitting alone in his dirty house, not
having enough strength to clean it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Characters In The Movie Groundhog Day Vs. Happy Death Day
Groundhog Day vs. Happy Death Day Groundhog Day is a 1993 movie starring Bill Murray. It is a
Drama/Romance directed by Harold Ramis rated PG. Groundhog Day was so popular it was
even made into a musical in 2016 composed by Tim Minchin. Happy Death Day, however, is a
2017 mystery/thriller. It is rated PG 13 and is directed by Christopher B. Landon. Although Happy
Death Day is assumed to be just a scary version of Groundhog Day, these two movies have more
differences and similarities in characters, situations, and setting than people might think. The main
character of both movies begin the storyline as self centered people. They are rude and have no
concern for the people around them. The main character from Happy Death Day, Tree Gelbman is
a blonde sorority sister in college. In the beginning of the movie, Tree wakes up, hungover, after
getting drunk from a party the previous night which makes her late to a lecture. This indicates that
she is irresponsible and what most people consider to be the average partying college student. The
main character in Groundhog Day, Phil Connors, is a weatherman who thinks he s above everyone
else. In the movie this character uses sarcasm, irony, and does his best to ignore everyone and
live a life of solitude. One thing these two characters have in common is falling for the people
that they thought they never would in the beginning. Tree falls for Carter Davis, the college
student whose dorm she woke up in after the party. Phil Connors falls in love with Rita Hanson, a
news producer who works in the same studio as him. These Two characters are stuck in incredibly
similar situations with very slight differences. They are both trapped in a time loopthat shows some
sort of relevance in their lives and they have to do figure out what they need do in order to move
on to the next day. In the beginning they simply think it s deja vu, but after they realize they will
always wake up to the same day, even if they die, they begin to enjoy immortality and use it to
their advantage. In her time loop, Tree Gelbman wakes up to the sound of university bells in

reality, the grandmother is exceedingly selfish and corrupt morally. She preaches and gives

By 2008, Jack Ma, CEO of Alibaba.com Inc., was in a position to consider how to fortify Taobao s
dominant position in China s online consumer to consumer (C2C) market. Ma and his company
had come a long way since May 2003, when they first launched the Taobao website. Back then,
eBay China dominated the fledgling market, holding over 70 percent share. It had entered China

Debit cards were common in China, with about 300 million cards issued by mid 2001. However,
each city had a separate payment gateway to process these cards, so a card from one city often
could not be used at the issuing bank s system in another city. 4 This lack of integration made it
very difficult for auction sites to handle debit card payments online. The credit card option was
even worse. Because China s credit system was not developed, Chinese banks were cautious
about issuing cards and the application process was complicated. By 2001, there were only
about 25 million credit cards issued in China, accounting for less than 1 percent of consumer
spending (compared to about 25 percent in the U.S.), and credit cards were accepted at only
about 3 percent of China s shops. As the need for better credit card services intensified in the
early 2000s, various institutions responded. In 2001, Bank of China and China Construction Bank
started accepting credit card applications online. At the same time, a large number of credit
verification companies emerged to help banks work around the lack of a personal credit scoring
system in China. These companies checked the backgrounds of applicants through various
channels, including meeting the applicants in person. In February 2002, the People s Bank of
China, China s central bank, announced a project to enable the four largest banks to process cards
across cities and banks. In the wake of these changes, China s

English And English Linguistic Imperialism
In contemporary society, there is an increasing number of people speaking English and there has
been much discussion on the issue of whether English users are the victims of linguistic
imperialism. Historically, English was regarded as a lingua franca and it has the same function
nowadays (Kachru, 1985, cited in Jenkins, 2014). In addition, linguistic imperialism is related to
English in this essay. Although English users could profit from the spread of English and English
linguistic imperialism indeed brings some advantages, some others still hold the view that English
users are victims of this trend to some extent. This essay will demonstrate that in spite of the risks
of speaking English cannot be ignored, there are also several benefits brought out by English
linguistic imperialism . In other words, this essay will show that English users are not victims of
English linguistic imperialism to some extent. One of the main reasons which interprets
globalisation of English is advantageous is English providing some opportunities for international
students. According to Bolton (2011), the significance of globalisation of English cannot be
neglected. Meantime, the growth of English medium instruction is rapid, which is possibly the
main driving force behind ELF. That is to say, it seems that English is important in the teaching
process, especially in universities. For example, Jenkins (2014) suggests that a plenty of
international students could communicate with each other

Marking Territory Character Analysis
In Marking Territory, the author juxtaposes heated character interactions with private moments in
order to show how both the other Wes and his mother try to appear tough while secretly feeling
hurt and afraid. Prior to Wes s argument with his mother regarding his affairs in the drug business,
he had a heated encounter with his brother Tony on the same matter. Ending in a violence, anger,
and disappointment on the part of Tony, Wes ponders his relationship with Tony: Wes knew that he
was disappointing his brother, which hurt more than the beating that he had just taken. Wes was so
confused. He loved and respected his brother. Tony was the closest thing Wes had to a role model.
But the more he copied him, the more Tony pushed back. Wes wanted to be just like Tony.

unsure of what to think. She wasn t only upset about the drugs, she was upset about the lying. As a
mother who had discovered damning evidence that her second son was indeed a drug dealer, her
response was by all means what one would expect; that is, the mixture of sadness, fear,
disappointment, and anger. These two private moments communicated by the author, validates the

The day was June 12, 1994 and only a few people would know that it would become a very
important day in United States history. Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman are stabbed

O.J. came home the day after the murderand he found the policewaiting for him and they placed

be arrested fairly shortly, he rode off in his Ford White Bronco and caused what would be known
one of the greatest police chases of all time. He would be arrested and would be put to a trial. This
would only be the beginning of a very important trial. The trail promptly began on January 24, 1995
with prosecutors Marcia Clark and Christopher Darden deliver opening statements for the
prosecution. The judge presiding over the case was Lance Ito. The next day Johnnie Cochran

After he told his story about how he was rescued, he told the audience the reason why he needed

punishments to correct his behavior. Then her attitude towards him changed drastically as she
started to drink more frequently and started to play games with him that left him nearly dead.
She slowly made David do all the work around the house and every time he wouldn t finish fast
enough, she would make him suffer by burning his hand over the stove, slapping him, stick soap
in his mouth, or stab him without regretting it. In the end, she would starve him and make sure
when he did get food it was only scraps of food even a street dog wouldn t eat. But David never lost

Bear s Game Analysis
Bear s fans starts to get excited every year around this time, but this year is different. Chicago
has put together an offense with several threats at every skilled position. The receivers have an
excellent opportunity to put together a duo, if not a trio that could easily lead the NFC. The
back field is shaping up like it will be a force of its own to be dealt with by opposing defenses. And
at quarterback, well, let s just say Cutler will have no excuses this year.
Before you go on a rant commenting about reading a similar article to this each of the previous
two summers, let me explain just why this season is different. Chicago s got good glue this year.

In an effort to create more competition at every spot on the line, Chicago has made some moves

adding strength wherever the Bears will need it most.
Bobby Massie will also be playing his first season in Chicago. He has started in 46 games over the
last 4 seasons, all of which were at the right tackle position. Last season he played a huge role on
an offensive line which only allowed 27 sacks and accumulated well over 4,000 yards through the

The Chilean Press
The Chilean press has managed to uphold a strong tradition of editorial freedom ever since the
country s first newspaper, (RoughGuides). The media and its median is ever changing and
evolving all over the world, to truly understand any form of media today we must trace it back to
its beginnings. Every country has their own set of laws for the press and we need to understand
how economical and social issues, as well as events, influenced in changing and shaping the media,
as we know it today.
Chile s first newspaper, La Aurora, was published in February 13, 1812. It was published by anti
royalist and was considered pro patriotic and anti Spanish. It consisted of a single sheet and was
published weekly on Thursdays. La Aurora, ended its publication just fourteen months after it
began, this was due to a new newspaper hitting the press: El Mercurio de Valparaiso. The paper
began as a four page spread containing a sort of potpourri items that ranged from political news to
general interest columns. In June of 1900, El Mercurio, came out with an edition for the country s
capital: Santiago s: El Mercurio. Today, El Mercurio, is the longest running newspaper in the
Spanish speaking world (Culture Customs, p98). In Chile it is also considered the most serious of
the daily publications the country has and viewed as conservative. Santiago s Sunday edition of El
Mercurio, is highly advertised. Santiago also has an English newspaper, The Santiago Times, which

What Is John Locke s Defense Of Private Property
John Locke was a revolutionary thinker at his time for including the defense of private property in
his Second Treatises on Civil Government in 1690. Locke sought to defend private property
because he believed that private property was a natural right of man, because he said that every
man has the right to sustain and preserve themselves with anything that nature affords to them
Locke also wished to defend private propertybecause it was the gateway to common consent and
the formation of his theory of government. Locke s definition of private property is vastly different
then how we think of it today, Locke defines private property as: whatever a man removes from the
state of nature which he then mixes with his own labor and combines it with... Show more content

Locke acknowledges that whatever man does decide to take into his possession that it must not
go to waste because then he would be guilty of destroying property that would that would have
commonly belonged to others. This part of the argument appears weak because today many
people take possession of things and let them go to waste even though it could have been
theoretically someone else s property. This here lies another issue with Locke s defense of
private property is when he introduces the concept of money. By doing this Locke takes
commonly shared property because now everyone who has access to the most money could buy
(take) a majority of the land and hire people to work it so it would not go to waste and therefore
gain a significant amount of control over the population. This is by far Locke s weakest argument
for private property because it forgets to acknowledge the means a man would use in order to
make sure the vast amounts of land that he took over did not go to waste, and consequently cause
him to rob someone else of what could have been

colors that caught my eye while i was mixing paints. As I was painting the elephant I realized that

Meno Dialogue
Meno by Plato, is a dialogue that discusses the idea of virtue and discusses the idea of human
nature and how we learn. The main speakers in the dialogue are Socrates and Meno. At the
beginning of the dialogue Meno poses many inquiries about virtue. He has many skillful exchanges
with Plato on the definition of virtue, which is when this passage comes along. Socrates: ...So now I
do not know what virtue is; perhaps you knew before you contacted me, but now you are
certainly like one who does not know. Nevertheless I want to examine and seek together with
you what it may be. (Meno 80d) to which Meno replies Meno: How will you look for it, Socrates,
when you do not know at all what it is? How will you aim to search for something you do not...

For example, if we were to inquire What is that statue? , there is no chance a recollection of the
past can answer this, but when we look at the name plate at the bottom and learn whom and why
this statue was created, we have effectively learnt about the statue. This is a more synthetic
answer and question. As you can see, there is a plethora of these type of questions that the idea
of recollection cannot cover. What Plato s recollection covers is more conversely known as our
innate ability to induce and infer based on past experiences. This can be seen in the slave boy
example, as the slave boy learns from experience Socrates: But if it is two feet also that way, it
would surely be twice two feet? Yes (Meno 82d). It can be said that the idea of recollection only
covers analytical answers. That is, questions and answers that can be reduced down to a base case
and built on towards the goal are what an analytical question or answer would be. An idea that
encompasses this, for example, is putting parallel two rulers of the same size beside each other and
understanding that they are

Researching National Cultures: an evaluation of Filipino and Australian Cultures
Introduction
The age of technology is at reach almost everywhere in the world. The world is considered as a
Global Village wherein the flawless movement of toil, people and data has become a commonplace.
It has been internationalized that communication between countries had become a prerequisite. By
this, being able to understand its traditions and culture plays a vital role due to its diverse
worldviews and often dissimilarity of values. The ability to prevent potential conflicts and foster
productive, cooperative relations will depend largely on effective intercultural relations .
(Communication between cultures, eight edition p. 4 2013)
The main core of this report is to compare and distinguish the divergence of Filipinos and Australian
national cultures. The focal point will be primarily about the incessant population growth of
Filipino migration in the northern Territory of Australia that ensued more than one hundred years
ago. According to the 2011 poll, there were 171, 233 Filipino people in Australia with an
estimation of 7,000 Filipino ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Hermia In A Midsummer Night s Dream
William Shakespeare has written many plays, with more characters, storylines, sets and
intersecting plotlines then you can imagine. Have you ever thought of one character in his plays
that holds the sovereignty to carry out the theme of the story? William Shakespeare born in 1564,
began his career in 1590. A midsummer night s dream play was written in 1592, a romantic
comedy of 4 Athenian lovers. Hermis young daughter of Egeus Hermia has an unusual starting
right from the beginning, which allows readers to sympathize for the young character. The story

How Does North Replace A Contradiction In Neoclassical...
North illuminates a contradiction in neoclassical economic theory as it relates to structure and
change in political economic systems. On one hand, North demonstrates that neoclassical theory
fails to fully explain what causes economic change, and is particularly deficient in explaining the
emergence of various ideologies. On the other hand, he presents evidence that rational individual
behavior explains specific institutional choices that result in change, both positive and negative. He
attempts to resolve this contradiction by offering theories of the state, organizations, and ideology.
However, his argument seems reducible to a statement that political economic institutions change
when the benefits of change outweigh the costs, and persist otherwise. This oversimplification does
an injustice to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His path dependency goes beyond explaining from where the present system emerged by assuming
the components of the current system always existed. For instance, North s discussion of free
ridership and the tragedy of the commons in hunter gather societies ten millennia in the past
illustrates this assumption. He also compares all historical systems against the modern definition of
the market to show why those previous systems failed to function properly. By focusing on the
constraints and inefficiencies imposed by previous political systems, institutions, and ideologies,
North seems to be arguing that if only those did not exist the system would have been efficient in
essence, a liberal economic argument founded upon a capitalist ideology. North s emphasis on
markets and self interest, rather than alternative models (e.g., reciprocity and altruism) suggests a
view of history colored by a specific ideological bent. In this light, North s argument does not
explain the structure and change of economic history so much as show why it took so long to
arrive at the current, preferred,

Acid Base Extraction Lab Report
Acid Base Extraction Lab
Experimental:
Three grams of a mixture containing Benzoic Acid and Naphthalene was obtained and placed in
100 ml beaker and added 30 ml of ethyl acetate for dissolving the mixture. A small amount (1 2
drops) of this mixture was separated into a test tube. This test tube was covered and labelled as

content in the beaker was then transferred into separatory funnel. 10 ml of 1 M NaOH added to
the content and placed the stopper in the funnel. In the hood separatory funnel was gently shaken
for approximately one minute and vent the air out for five seconds. We repeated the same process
in the same manner one more time by adding 10ml of 1M NaOH.
After about 1 minute of shaking, the two layers separated. The organic layer on the top layer

  • 2. Buying Feminine Hygiene Products For People Magazine s... ADVERTISER AND MEDIUM The advertiser for this product is Energizer, who is a manufacturer. This advertisement was shown in People magazine s July 2015 edition. MARKET SITUATION Carefree is a lesser known and lesser used brand in comparison to its competitors, so its important for their ads to really resonate with their target market. Competition in this industry is mainly between Tampax, Always, and Playtex, which almost leaves Carefree out of the running. Carefree products are sold in Target, Walmart, and drugstores like Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aid. Another thing to consider with this industry are the consumer attitudes towards these products. A lot of women tend to be embarrassed when buying feminine hygiene products because of the social stigma around periods, but the fact is that they still have to buy them. So, when the consumers go to the store to purchase these type of products they ll usually purchase the same product every time because they know it works, they know where it is in the store, and they know the price, which makes the whole process go quickly. TARGET MARKET CUSTOMER PROFILE This print ad was published in People magazine. 70% of people s readers are women, the majority of them falling into the 18 44 age range, with median age of 38. Most of the women readers are employed, with college degrees. Another percentage of readers are women with one or more children in their household (42%). Although the magazine does reach mainly women, the median ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. American Film Noir Essay American Film Noir Student s Name Institutional Affiliation American Film Noir There have been several debates over a long period of time concerning the validity of film noir as a distinct genre. Essays and books have debated the term for years using various criteria and rubrics to back up their respective positions on the subject. As the 21st century brings new and creative trends from screenwriting to post production and everything in between, the boundaries of noir become even less certain. One may even find a fitting parallel between the noir protagonist s ambiguous and perilous quest with that of the hapless and naГЇve academic in search of an unequivocal definition of noir itself. This essay aims at summarizing the evolution of American film noir to present day, by using seminal works to determine how these films have become influenced by American cinematic trends of postmodern narrative structures and subjectivity. History of Noir The argument to be made is that, with the emergence of cinematic technological advances coupled with postmodernism s abandonment of meta narratives and traditional socio cultural identities, filmmakers are digging even deeper into the dark recesses of the human consciousness and using noir as a platform. It is not very surprising that to date no other genre relies more on the fragility and temperamental nature of the human condition more. Oftentimes characters in a noir narrative are either vindicated or condemned based ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It currently is called the Reid Report Risk Assessment and can be used in any organization for any job position. The Reid Report has five different measures to predict the potential employee s performance, attitude, and behavior. The five measures are business ethics, integrity attitudes, social behavior, substance use, and work background (Human Capital Risk Management, 2015). The first measure, business ethics, is used to assess whether the applicant would behave ethically in the workplace and follow the policies and rules set by the organization. The Reid Report Risk Assessment with ethics was created by Vangent, Inc. in 2010, however, General Dynamics Information Technology took over Vangent Inc. and gained the copyright to the Reid Report (Reid Report Risk Assessment Features Critical New Ethics Scale, 2010). Soon afterwards, General Dynamics Information Technology added the Reid Report Risk Assessment for cybersecurity and the Reid Report Risk Assessment for collusion avoidance (Human Capital Risk Management, 2015). The two new tests are specialized for certain areas. One focuses on identifying those applicants who have a history of hacking into systems and posing a threat to the company s database. The other focuses on identifying potential candidates who could work with organized criminals to steal information from the company or valuable products (Human Capital Risk Management, 2015). The Reid Report Risk Assessment with ethics scale is a little different from the original Reid Report. The newest version has new questions pertaining to social behavior and substance use (Reid Report Risk Assessment Features Critical New Ethics Scale, 2010). • 5. The Global Economy Has Become Large Size, Breadth And... The global economy has become massive in size, breadth and diversity. There are enormous opportunities but they are also fraught with complexity. The interconnectedness between fast growing and mature regions has vastly increased the complexity, number and range of stakeholder relationships that must be managed. Business complexityis increasing every day. Although initiating a business is easier than a decade ago, sustaining and growing a business is more difficult than ever. When you consider the last decades leading organizations, some of them have already vanished or lost market share despite their large size. Some of today s leading organizations may not exist in the next decade due to challenges in managing complexity. One of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When you reduce complexity, you increase your ability to implement new solutions, says AndrГ© Mendes, CIO of the Special Olympics. Complexity leads to brittleness and high costs, notes Frank Modruson, CIO of Accenture. But if you get your technology cleaner, you can serve the business more easily. Today, all CIOs are standing in the path of a fire hose spewing complexity. And many are getting soaked. Within IT, factors that increase complexity include outsourcing management, the adoption of Web and consumer technologies, and support for mobile workforces, developing and managing technology architectures and governance for those workforces, and ensuring security in a distributed environment. Outside of IT s direct control, complexity is increased by the requirements of compliance, the need to support global business, and the speed and depth of access to information demanded by your customers and your partners. Companies can with difficulty handle these challenges individually, one at a time. But in the real world companies face many, if not all, of these challenges, all at once, over and over. That s why you need a strategy to keep complexity out of the environment. The challenge of complexity is exacerbated by the fact that many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

First Confession is the story of how Jackie, a seven year old boy, makes his first confession before his first communion. The story takes place in Ireland at the beginning of the 20th century and is based on O Connor s own childhood. Jackie immediately likes the priest as he defends him from his sister Nora the moment he meets him. After calling Nora a vixen and Jackie a poor man and big hefty fellow , Jackie thinks he is intelligent above ordinary , and immediately tells him his major sin. Although it takes him a while to react, the priest seems to understand Jackie when he s told that he planned to kill his grandmother with a kitchen knife, and shows interest in the kids plans. This makes Jackie feel close to the priest and really comfortable, to the extent of being sorry of having to leave. • 7. Queen Elizabeth I As Unworthy Of The Throne Queen Elizabeth I was underestimated by many and was seen as unworthy of the throne. Queen Elizabeth I had a successful reign full of victories and power and was able to make sixteenth century England a thriving nation. The middle and upper class were living comfortably and England s tin, coal, and led industries were taking off (Lambert, par. 1). The reign of Queen Elizabeth I was strong and powerful (Boatner, par. 7). She not only kept the nation strong but united as one. As triumphant as her life may seem, she did deal with a difficult childhood and an almost inexistent love life. Her lack of romantic relationships is why she is now known as England s virgin queen, she died having never gotten married and without any children (Brimacombe 28). Queen Elizabeth I had a huge ascendency on the prosperity of England throughout her whole life: her childhood, adulthood and her golden years. This essay will discuss the hardships, triumphs and the influence that Queen Elizabeth I had during her time on the throne within the different stages of her life: her childhood, adulthood and her golden years. • 9. Proponents Of Lawyer Dissatisfaction Discredit The... C. Reasons to Question Survey Data Proponents of lawyer dissatisfaction discredit the reliability of survey data in several ways. First, proponents look at the procedural and substantive defects inherent to survey testing. Second, proponents highlight related survey data such as the high levels of lawyer depression, alcoholism, and suicide rates, to name a few which are complimentary to the view that many lawyers are dissatisfied. Last, proponents and opponents alike, suggest that lawyers may be in denial or untruthful when responding to satisfaction surveys. Therefore, proponents of lawyer dissatisfaction argue that survey data is unreliable in measuring lawyer dissatisfaction. David Chambers, a law professor at the University of Michigan Law School, argues that procedural and substantive defects inherent to survey data make it an unreliable method for measuring lawyer dissatisfaction. First, most lawyers only place themselves above the midpoint on a satisfaction scale, which is barely more positive than negative. Second, surveys are conducted at a specific time and place, and therefore do not give a complete analysis of satisfaction. Last is the fact that many lawyers do not respond to surveys; and this is likely to be the most true among lawyers that are the least satisfied. As a result, the deference given to positive claims about lawyer satisfaction are not grounded in reliable evidence. Positive survey data on lawyer satisfaction cannot be reconciled with ... The Riverton Community Pool Is Located Just Off Of Forest Ave The Riverton Community Pool is located just off of Forest Ave in Portland, and is attached to the Riverton Community Center, including a library and gymnasium, and Riverton Elementary. The facility features a large parking lot with plenty of spaces for both employees and patrons. After entering the building, the location of the poolis not extremely clear; there are no signs directing patrons to the pool area. The production space is well lit by lights that are around the pool (but not above), and does not smell of overwhelming chlorine. The pool is 25 meters long with six lanes. The pool also has a shallow and deep end, with the shallowest point being four feet deep, and the deepest point being 13 ВЅ feet deep. The floor surrounding the pool is made of tile to prevent patrons from slipping and falling when the floor is wet. The walls surrounding the building are made of cinderblocks that were painted white. These types of walls tend to echo, so the ceiling and upper walls are lined with sound panels to reduce the extra noise. The temperature of the water falls anywhere between 80 and 83 degrees fahrenheit so patrons do not overheat when swimming. The air is also kept around 83 degrees to help keep patrons warm when they exit the water. Unfortunately, a master plan was unable to be located online or at the facility. The results which were shown in figure 1 for the CMAPs where the amplitude of the CMAPs increased as the perceived tension increased were to be expected. Because in order for a greater force to be applied there must be increased force of contraction, which the amplitude demonstrates, through electrical activation intensity. Also frequency of contraction may be increased aswell, as more muscle fibres are recruited when an increased effort is exerted, however in the figure it is hard to determine whether there has been a change in the frequency of action potentials. Case Study Approaches to Ethical Dilemas Essay Case Study Approaches to Ethical Dilemmas LaDonna Landry BSHS 335 January 12, 2015 Nicole Zmuda Case Study Approaches to Ethical Dilemmas The case study I chose is that of six year old Tavion Robinson who was taken to Methodist Hospital by his father for a broken arm and abrasions. There were a couple of things in this case that could insinuate that the broken arm and abrasions were not an accident. The father being hesitant to leave Tavion alone with hospital staff was the first red flag that something could be wrong. Secondly, Mr. Robinson s request that he be notified prior to releasing Tavion s records to anyone. Thirdly, informing the Emergency Department that Tavion s parents are divorced and that the mother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She suspects the father was physically abusing him and wanted to view documentation. I do believe that Tavion s mother has the right to view his records especially if she suspects abuse. Along with the inconsistencies of the finding of the injuries and the suspicions of the mother I feel that this is enough reason to investigate the suspicion of child abuse. The concerns of the mother is valid and she also is aware of how the father handles his son on a day to day basis she isn t suspicious for no reason at all. There is history amongst the adults before they divorced she knows how he was disciplined as a kid and he could be using the same discipline as that in which his parents used on him. The mother has several avenues that she can take on her suspicions she could talk to the social worker at the hospital, the Department of Family Protective Services or contact the police. The ethical issue we are dealing with is the mother wanting the hospital documents of her son s visit and the father denying her access without him being consulted. Also the injuries not matching up to the father s story. Confidentially will be the legal issue in this case regarding Tavion s medical records. Of course the father s request of being contact if there is a request to view the files makes him look suspicious and makes it appear he is hiding something. After they recount the intensity of these battles, the bombs follow logically as a pardon from further carnage by our amphibious invasions of the Japanese home islands. This was one political technique used to manipulate the decision of President Truman. President Truman must have kept in mind the personal political implications of his decision to drop the bomb. With polls showing that Americans overwhelmingly supported the unconditional surrender of Japan and with his knowing the strong anti Japanese sentiments of the American people, I must have felt that I had little political risk in dropping an atomic bomb on Japan. (Harry Truman) President Truman must have also considered his difficulty in explaining to American voters why the government spent two billion dollars to develop a superior weapon if he personally decided not to deploy it, especially if the war had dragged on with additional American casualties. Here is an entry from Truman s diary, I have to decide Japanese strategy shall we invade Japan proper or shall we bomb and blockade? That is my hardest decision to date. • 15. Essay on Racism and Interracial Marriage in Othello Racism and Interracial Marriage in Othello Othello: The Moor of Venice is probably Shakespeare s most controversial play. Throughout this work, there is a clear theme of racism, a racism that has become commonplace in Venetian society which rejects the marriage of Othello and Desdemona as anathema. The text expresses racism throughout the play within the language transaction of the dialogue to question the societal ethos established by Othello, thereby making him nothing less than a cultural other. Furthermore, the character of Desdemona is displayed as mad, or out of her wits, for marrying such an other, and the audience sees her slip from an angelic state of purity to that of a tainted character. If one believes that miscegenation is a taboo currently manifested within the play then he/she will see how Iago was acting as a representative of society a synecdoche responsible for pointing out that something has gone wrong with a hidden purpose or motive that was the locus for his actions. Iago is the antithetical character of Shakespeare s creation. He is the catalyst of all the destructive happenings within the play starting from the very beginning of the play when he and Roderigo approach the residence of Brabantio, Desdemona s father, in Act 1 scene 1. He uses racist language to appeal to the senator s traditional beliefs, including such phrases as Even now, now, very now, an old black ram / Is tupping your white ewe (1.1.85 86). Iago even goes so far as to hypothesize that Brabantio s grandchildren will be animals because of his daughter s base marriage with an other. you ll have your daughter covered with a Barbary horse, you ll have your nephews neigh to you you ll have coursers for cousins, and gennets for germans. (1.1.108 111) Iago plays out the importance of his role when he further states that he is the one, almost as if he were appointed to such a position, who must inform Brabantio that his daughter and the Moor were making the beast with two backs (1.1.112 113). The glass didn t fit in mine at the start because the wood wasn t even to the other pieces of wood. So in doing this I had to go to the miter saw and fix the angle and cut off the wood that made it like that. Another reason why the glassdidn t fit is because when the pieces of wood wasn t clamped and it wasn t together tightly leaving gaps in the spaces between the wood, when this happened I had to sand it better and see if I had to cut anything extra off. Also the lip holding the glass was too small so, this made me have to fix and make the cut bigger. 2. What other issues did you run into and how did you go about solving them? Now picture yourself sharing a warm, freshly crafted pizza. A pizza with fried chickensmothered with provolone cheese. A pizza with a pop of flavor provided by bell peppers. A pizza seamlessly put together with ranch dressing. This simple recipe for chicken ranch pizza will make you resistible to any date. To complete the following recipe, you will need one boneless chicken breast (an ideal size for the chicken breast is the size of your hand), soy sauce, lemon juice, a bell pepper, shredded provolone cheese, salt, Cayenne pepper, flour, olive oil, one large egg, and one frozen cheese pizza (preferably Di Giorno rising crust). First you need to prep the chicken breast. If your chicken breast is frozen, let your chicken breast thaw. To speed up the thawing process, you may use a microwave. However, set the microwave to defrost mode before thawing your chicken, which will prevent the chicken from drying out and will keep the chicken moist. Thaw the chicken, on defrost mode, for approximately five to six minutes. After thawing the chicken, take a sharp knife and make a horizontal cut across the middle of the breast. Always act carefully when working knives. Remember to keep the blade down and always cut away from yourself. Cut the chicken into long strips with roughly one quarter inch of thickness. Reducing the thickness of the breast will reduce the amount of time needed to cook the chicken fully. Now make a vertical cut every half inch to both strips of chicken. The chicken pieces should resemble the size and shape of your middle and ring fingercombined. After cutting the chicken, wash hands thoroughly with warm water and soap. Always wash your hands after touching raw meat to prevent cross commination. Do not touch any other ingredient before washing your hands. Next you need to assemble the marinade for the chicken. Thomas Jefferson Alexander Hamilton vs. Thomas Jefferson Democracy is defined as, A government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections (Merriam Webster). This means that the basis for American government is a firm belief in the common people that they have the knowledge and power to choose leaders to guide the government in the right direction. In the 1790s there was a monumental political debate over whether the constitution should be ratified and if in needed a bill of rights, and at the center of the debate was Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson. While they both believed democracy was the best form of government for the new nation, both men had very different ideas about how to shape the government and its entities. Thomas Jefferson is the better spokesperson a democratic government because of his political beliefs and inherent belief in human reason, a conviction that is not held by Alexander Hamilton. Thomas Jefferson was a enthusiastic supporter of American democracy through his support for the anti federalist and belief that the citizens had the capacity to choose a leader. A couple months after he left for war he was reported missing and presumed dead. At thirty two she met and married her current husband and had children. Now, it seems that the demon wants his fianc #233; to keep her promise. Bowen may have chosen to give her the last name of Drover, because a drover is someone who herds animals to market and it seems as though her fate will meet the same demise as the demon takes her away. Mrs. Drovers internal conflict occurred when she did not come through on the promise that she made and now, it seem she can not even recall what the promise was. She is faced with an external conflict as well because she will no longer have her family. She is in the hands of a demon. The third person objective point of view forces the reader to conclude for themself what is really happening. • 32. Voltaire And Martin s Use Of Optimism In Candide Candide, a novel based on its author s sardonic view of the philosophy rich 18th century Europe, illustrates unwavering optimism. Ultimately, Voltaire only disputes living in the best of all possible worlds when one does not go work in the garden, (Voltaire 144). He believes one has to work and put forth effort in order for everything to be for the best. Voltairecreated Pangloss to be an optimistic and abstract philosopher that epitomizes the idle thinkers of the time that he deemed utterly ridiculous; he despised philosophers arguing without understanding the outside world. Pangloss s ceaseless preaching about everything being for the best keeps himself as well as Candide from participating in the realm around them. For example, rather than saving the Anabaptist s life, Candide prioritizes Pangloss s outlook on his death s convenience. It is proved, he used to say, that things cannot be other than they are, for since everything was made for a purpose, it follows that everything is made for the best purpose, (Voltaire 20). Thus, it is not until they leave the castle that they learn anything different. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through looking at different mediums, we examined how the inventive use of language in poetry boosts communication and empowers self expression. This gave me a whole new insight on several notions within our unit. It made me recognize how poetry is not just a couple of rhyming short lines with a rhythm, but much more than that. Poetry is a form of self expression; it is a means of imparting one s unique ideas through conveying their perspective and feelings to the audience. It provokes emotions, elucidates ideas and delivers a strong, perceptive message in an artistic way. Poems have a common language, such as dialect, diction and connotation. • 35. Howard Nemerov s The Vacuum The Vacuum Analysis Grief is the price we pay for love. Queen Elizabeth II.As the quote above explains to love something that can die is to welcome pain. The poem, The Vacuum focuses on the private aspect of life where one spouse dies leaving the other alone after many years. The speaker in the poem is battling grief and cannot bring himself to use the vacuum cleaner because his late wife used to take pride in a clean house. The composition implies that the speaker no longer cares about life now that his wife has died. The first few lines of the poem heavily foreshadow death, but do not directly address the event that has occurred. Howard Nemerov uses harsh, brutal diction such as stopped lung , dog dead , and old woman to imply the pain and isolation the speaker feels the word choice also gives the poem a depressing mood. Giving flashbacks to the past illuminates the theme of chaos and order in the poem. When the speaker s wife was alive she used to crawl, in the corner and under the stair as to make sure every nook and cranny was clean, but now old filth is everywhere. It is a Drama/Romance directed by Harold Ramis rated PG. Groundhog Day was so popular it was even made into a musical in 2016 composed by Tim Minchin. Happy Death Day, however, is a 2017 mystery/thriller. It is rated PG 13 and is directed by Christopher B. Landon. Although Happy Death Day is assumed to be just a scary version of Groundhog Day, these two movies have more differences and similarities in characters, situations, and setting than people might think. The main character of both movies begin the storyline as self centered people. They are rude and have no concern for the people around them. The main character from Happy Death Day, Tree Gelbman is a blonde sorority sister in college. In the beginning of the movie, Tree wakes up, hungover, after getting drunk from a party the previous night which makes her late to a lecture. This indicates that she is irresponsible and what most people consider to be the average partying college student. The main character in Groundhog Day, Phil Connors, is a weatherman who thinks he s above everyone else. In the movie this character uses sarcasm, irony, and does his best to ignore everyone and live a life of solitude. One thing these two characters have in common is falling for the people that they thought they never would in the beginning. Tree falls for Carter Davis, the college student whose dorm she woke up in after the party. Phil Connors falls in love with Rita Hanson, a news producer who works in the same studio as him. These Two characters are stuck in incredibly similar situations with very slight differences. They are both trapped in a time loopthat shows some sort of relevance in their lives and they have to do figure out what they need do in order to move on to the next day. In the beginning they simply think it s deja vu, but after they realize they will always wake up to the same day, even if they die, they begin to enjoy immortality and use it to their advantage. Debit cards were common in China, with about 300 million cards issued by mid 2001. However, each city had a separate payment gateway to process these cards, so a card from one city often could not be used at the issuing bank s system in another city. 4 This lack of integration made it very difficult for auction sites to handle debit card payments online. The credit card option was even worse. Because China s credit system was not developed, Chinese banks were cautious about issuing cards and the application process was complicated. By 2001, there were only about 25 million credit cards issued in China, accounting for less than 1 percent of consumer spending (compared to about 25 percent in the U.S.), and credit cards were accepted at only about 3 percent of China s shops. As the need for better credit card services intensified in the early 2000s, various institutions responded. In 2001, Bank of China and China Construction Bank started accepting credit card applications online. At the same time, a large number of credit verification companies emerged to help banks work around the lack of a personal credit scoring system in China. English And English Linguistic Imperialism In contemporary society, there is an increasing number of people speaking English and there has been much discussion on the issue of whether English users are the victims of linguistic imperialism. Historically, English was regarded as a lingua franca and it has the same function nowadays (Kachru, 1985, cited in Jenkins, 2014). In addition, linguistic imperialism is related to English in this essay. Although English users could profit from the spread of English and English linguistic imperialism indeed brings some advantages, some others still hold the view that English users are victims of this trend to some extent. This essay will demonstrate that in spite of the risks of speaking English cannot be ignored, there are also several benefits brought out by English linguistic imperialism . In other words, this essay will show that English users are not victims of English linguistic imperialism to some extent. One of the main reasons which interprets globalisation of English is advantageous is English providing some opportunities for international students. According to Bolton (2011), the significance of globalisation of English cannot be neglected. This here lies another issue with Locke s defense of private property is when he introduces the concept of money. By doing this Locke takes commonly shared property because now everyone who has access to the most money could buy (take) a majority of the land and hire people to work it so it would not go to waste and therefore gain a significant amount of control over the population. • 50. Hermia In A Midsummer Night s Dream William Shakespeare has written many plays, with more characters, storylines, sets and intersecting plotlines then you can imagine. Have you ever thought of one character in his plays that holds the sovereignty to carry out the theme of the story? William Shakespeare born in 1564, began his career in 1590. A midsummer night s dream play was written in 1592, a romantic comedy of 4 Athenian lovers. Hermis young daughter of Egeus Hermia has an unusual starting right from the beginning, which allows readers to sympathize for the young character. The story starts with the young lady of Athens who is known as the disobedient daughter of Egeus. She s supposed to marry Demetrius, but she has fallen in love with Lysander. Hermia could be mistaken... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since she left her ordinary world to marry Lysander, she would now believe he will never leave her. She is in the darkest cave of her journey, the love she ran away for has now totally forgotten about her and she is indeed very hurt. Hermia (to LYSANDER) What, can you do me greater harm than hate? Hate me? Wherefore? O me! What news, my love? Am not I Hermia? Are not you Lysander? I am as fair now as I was erewhile. Since night you loved me. Yet since the night you left me. • 51. How Does North Replace A Contradiction In Neoclassical... North illuminates a contradiction in neoclassical economic theory as it relates to structure and change in political economic systems. On one hand, North demonstrates that neoclassical theory fails to fully explain what causes economic change, and is particularly deficient in explaining the emergence of various ideologies. On the other hand, he presents evidence that rational individual behavior explains specific institutional choices that result in change, both positive and negative. He attempts to resolve this contradiction by offering theories of the state, organizations, and ideology. However, his argument seems reducible to a statement that political economic institutions change when the benefits of change outweigh the costs, and persist otherwise. This oversimplification does an injustice to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His path dependency goes beyond explaining from where the present system emerged by assuming the components of the current system always existed. For instance, North s discussion of free ridership and the tragedy of the commons in hunter gather societies ten millennia in the past illustrates this assumption. He also compares all historical systems against the modern definition of the market to show why those previous systems failed to function properly. By focusing on the constraints and inefficiencies imposed by previous political systems, institutions, and ideologies, North seems to be arguing that if only those did not exist the system would have been efficient in essence, a liberal economic argument founded upon a capitalist ideology. North s emphasis on markets and self interest, rather than alternative models (e.g., reciprocity and altruism) suggests a view of history colored by a specific ideological bent. In this light, North s argument does not explain the structure and change of economic history so much as show why it took so long to arrive at the current, preferred, ... • 52. Acid Base Extraction Lab Report Acid Base Extraction Lab Experimental: Three grams of a mixture containing Benzoic Acid and Naphthalene was obtained and placed in 100 ml beaker and added 30 ml of ethyl acetate for dissolving the mixture. A small amount (1 2 drops) of this mixture was separated into a test tube. This test tube was covered and labelled as M (mixture). This was set to the side and used the following week for the second part of lab. The content in the beaker was then transferred into separatory funnel. 10 ml of 1 M NaOH added to the content and placed the stopper in the funnel. In the hood separatory funnel was gently shaken for approximately one minute and vent the air out for five seconds. We repeated the same process in the same manner one more time by adding 10ml of 1M NaOH. After about 1 minute of shaking, the two layers separated. The organic layer on the top layer (consisted of ethyl acetate and naphthalene) collected for further experiment; by adding Sodium Sulfate into organic phase and filtering the Na2So4 from the solution using the wool. The dried organic layer was weighed to get its mass and the residue of Na2SO4 were rinsed with ethyl acetate under vacuum (rotary evaporator). The acid extract on the bottom layer which is a combination of benzoic acid and NaOH were collected in the 50 mL Erlenmeyer beaker for the recovery of acid. We then created an ice bath using a 250mL Erlenmeyer beaker. The 50 mL Erlenmeyer beaker was then labeled as Acid Extract , and was placed in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
