Much Ado About Nothing Comedy Analysis
A farce or comedy is best played; A tragedy is best read at home. is a quote by former president
Abraham Lincoln. It holds especially true for Much Ado about Nothing by Shakespeare; this
play is best read at home. Because the language is too advanced, it does not have the elements of
a comedy, and the characters are not funny. For these reasons, Much Ado about Nothing should
not be considered a comedy. There are multiple reasons why it should not be considered a
comedy. The first reason is that the language used is advanced and uncommon, so if there were
any comedy involved many readers would not notice. The dialogue Shakespeare used may have
been common and understandable back in his time, but in today s modern day it is much
different. Dogberry states Goodman Verges, sir, speaks a little off the matter an old man, sir, and
his wits are not so blunt. Nobody speaks old English as a native language today. Many who
understand it are usually... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shakespeare manages to crack a laugh out of the reader here and there, but it is through only
one character, Dogberry. He is the one source of comedy in this book and is overused as the
comical relief in the play. The author uses the characters Claudio and Hero to the development
of the plot and are not focused on any comedy. Don John is the antagonist who is mischievous,
deceiving man who is entirely not funny. When Don John deceives Claudio into thinking Hero
was unfaithful, Claudio shames her during their wedding. Infidelity is not a topic to laugh
about, especially when Hero even goes as far as faking her own death. All together, Much Ado
About Nothing by Shakespeare does not contain the aspects of a comedy. Because the dialogue
is uncommon, does not have the aspects of a comedy, and has been miscategorized as a comedy
for years. a comedy for years. The novel may have been funny back in his time, but in today s

Words To Describe Chris
There are many people in this world who hold great reputations. There are far fewer people who
posess great character. A reputation is built in just moments, and reflects what you do in front of
people. Character, on the other hand, is built over years, and is reflected in what is unseen by
others. Of all of my friends, one exemplifies great character more than any of the others. His name
is Chris.
Chris stands a little over 6 feet tall with thick, dirty blonde hair. His piercing blue eyes change color
in the sunlight. He is very light complected, with a small amount of facial hair on the base of his
chin. His long sideburns grow down the length of his ear. He is one of those adventurous guys who

He is probably one of the most knowledgible people I know concerning the Scriptures. Even when
challenged for his religious beliefs, he still seems to have the ability to make peace with those who
don t like him. In much of the way that food does not stick to teflon, insults seem to have no lasting
effect on his personality. He doesn t seem to take anything personally.
I once asked him if he had ever gotten angry. He replied, В« More times than you can ever know
! В» But I have never seen this side of him. He tends to cover his anger and hurt very well. He
never takes his anger out on his friends. When he is upset, he normally starts humming a christian
tune in his mind to allievate himself from the frustration he feels.
In addition to this, Chris is an extremely educated young man who will one day become very
successful. As an engineering student, he is on a full NASA scholarship, and receives many other
grants and scholarships as well. He served as an intern at NASA Langley Research Center last
year, and plans on returning soon. He was even asked by NASA to represent them at the Southern
Governors Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico during the summer. He presented his research
projects to governors, congressmen and many important CEO s of major corporations during this
conference. His hard work and determination was evident to even members of state and national
government.

Tyrian Purple Research Paper
Tyrian purple, founded most notably in Tyre, an ancient Phoenician city, is the pigment that begat
the association between purple and royalty. The color was made by crushing the bodies of
thousands of mollusks just for an ounce of pigment over 250,000 of the creatures needed to be
crushed, which explains the extreme expense of the color and its association with royalty. A clear
fluid was extracted from these organisms which eventually transformed into purpleon exposure to
light and air. The color was exorbitant in price being at one time worth more than gold. Apart from
its associations with royalty, the color, which ranged from more blue to more red, had strong
associations with blood. The chemical makeup of Tyrian purple is strikingly related to the chemical
pigment found in pea plants in India.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Friedlander was the first to synthesize Tyrian purple using the Baeyer Drewsen synthesis from 2

It is surprising that a chromophore with such a small conjugated p network has such redshifted
absorption. Normally much more extensive conjugation (e.g. phthalocyanines) or several powerful
donor and acceptor groups (e.g. substituted azo compounds or anthraquinones) are required to
produce blue dyes. The explanation of the electronic absorption of indigo rests in the high planarity
of the molecule, which is enforced by intramolecular hydrogen

The right to a fair trial is one of the fundamental guarantees of human rights and the rule of law,
aimed at ensuring the proper administration of justice. It comprises various interrelated attributes
and is often linked to the enjoyment of other rights, such as the right to life and liberty and the
prohibition against torture and other forms of cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or
punishment. All persons must have equal rights of access to the courts and tribunals, including
access to remedies and reparations. Justice must be administered in a way that achieves fairness

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
Bangladesh saw a spell of military uprising and counter uprising after the murder of Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman and his family on August 15, 1975. On November 3, 1975, the major and colonels who
killed Mujib and most of his relatives (his daughters, Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana survived
while they were in the foreigner in time) also murdered four arrested political colleagues Mujib
Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmad, M. Mansur Ali and AH M. Qamaruzzaman in Dhaka Central
Prison. On the same day, the coup plotters of August 1975 were overthrown by Brigadier Khaled
Mosharraf, a hero of the Bangladesh liberation war in 1971. Mosharraf also placed General Zia,
then chief of the army general staff, under house arrest and took over as new chief of staff of the
army with his new rank of Major general. Only four days later, on November 7, soldiers from
different units of the Bangladeshi army, galvanized by Colonel Taher, turned against Mosharraf
and freed Zia from house arrest. General Mosharraf and his official colleagues were killed by
Zia s loyalists in the army on the morning of November 7, 1975. General Zia took power as the
first military ruler of Bangladesh, albeit with Judge Abu Sadat Mohammad Sayem as President of
the Republic. Despite Taher and his supporters in the army released Zia, friction has developed in a

Analysis of Pink Floyd s Song, Mother Essay
Analysis of Pink Floyd s Song, Mother
Had Sigmund Freud lived 40 more years (to the overripe old age of 123), he would have been
delighted to hear such a wonderful example of his life s psychoanlytic work embodied in the
haunting lyrics of Mother. Or had Oedipus lived a few millennium longer than his fictional death
he would have found an adversary in the youthful Pink, a young boy whose desire for maternal
acceptance and love is arguably equal to the greatest mother centered protagonists in the history of
literature. Contrary to the eye gouging antics of Oedipus or even the grandiose melodrama later in
Floyd s album, Mother is relatively low key and emotionally subtle. The music itself is interestingly
split, though with few if any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So why would the band choose to illustrate such a serious stage of personal development with the
nursery rhyme like style of the song s chorus? Before we get to that, the song s emotional and
psychological message must first be examined.
Similar to the music, the lyrics are as subtle as they are unsettling. Although the song takes a
seemingly forthright form of question and answer, the psychological implications behind the
lyrics are far from being simple and straightforward. Although the battling was over, the effects
of World War II were still extent in the years following the atrocious fight. The destruction of
Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the atomic bomb as well as the deaths of millions of Holocaust
victims and soldiers were all too fresh in the global consciousness. Fears of nuclear warfare and
continued fighting ran rampant through the post war world, instilling a sense of uncertainty in
the generations of and following the war. Such fears are blatantly reflected by the first line of
the song in which Pink asks his mother if they ll drop the bomb, referring to the apprehension of
enemy retaliation. However, this line, as well as the majority of the lyrics, is open to a wide
range of interpretation. Because of the psychological tendency to group people into two main
categories (those like us and those apart from us, or the Other) coupled with the recent divisions of
global powers in the war, one automatically assumes that the they Pink refers to is the

The Tortilla Curtain, Delaney Mossbacher has many personality traits that do not convince the

racist thoughts and actions are quite apparent, and Delaney s lack of emotional intelligence

He doesn t understand that they won t listen because his problem is irrelevant to theirs. Delaney
becomes angry, like a little child that throws a fit because nobody is paying attention to him. If
Delaney was more a part of the community, and had more friends who maybe felt the same way
about the things he did, he might have had more of a status in the meeting, but Delaney is like
wallpaper. He doesn t want to be invisible; he just wants to blend in with the rest of the world.
Delaney s racism has only escalated from the beginning of the novel to the end of part one, so
one could surmise his problem will only become worse. He puts up a front of this perfect person
who has no flaws, and is just a simple man a Moss backer . He will most likely have another
encounter with a Mexican, and that would bring out his anger towards them even more. Delaney
could start to realize from the meeting that if he became involved with the community, he could
have more of a place in Arroyo Blanco Estates. If he does that, he might see that he doesn t have to
just blend in; he can have an influence in the things that go in in the community. Works Cited

Couple Therapy
Gender differences in couples work
Couple therapy often refers to the common negative process, of pursuer and withdrawer, in order to
understand the relational dance. This is the process where one partner purses the other through
emotional demands, criticism, and complaints, while the other retreats through withdrawal,
defensiveness, and passive interaction (Christensen, Heavey,1990). Many theorists have identified a
gender linkage with this pattern, suggesting women present as the demanding, pursuer, while men
assume the role of the distant, withdrawer (Christensen, Heavey,1990; Mornells, 1979). There is a
belief among some theorists that this pattern results from different personality characteristics of
men and women, and therefore impacted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

sex couples enjoy immediate, consistent, and pervasive emotional support and acceptance upon
disclosure of their relationship to their families of origin (Rostosky et al., 2004). Many theorists

This allows the service provider to manage the business processes which may include resources that
are necessary to providing services. For example, the technology, equipments and personnel are
transferred to the service provider. The amount transferred to the service provider often depends on
the magnitude or complexity of the services to be carried out. Additionally, the magnitude and
complexity of the service also determines the how long the relation between the organization and
the service provider.
Chamberland (2003), also points out that outsourcing s transfer of ownership to the service
provider differentiates it from other business relationships. In other business agreements, if an
organization still retains its processes, then the organization is purchasing time which is a services
relationship. However, if the contracted service provider owns and controls the processes, then the
organization is outsourcing. For example, a manufacturing company that hires an outside IT
company to help repair and maintain its computer system is not outsourcing. On the other hand, a
manufacturing company that transfers some of its business processes to an outside service provider
that will provide customer service and Human resource management services back to the company
for some years is outsourcing.

Being A Non Traditional Student
Being a non traditional student I have the opportunity to attend school while also pursuing a career
in Information Technology (IT). Within the field of IT there are many avenues to explore ethics
depending on the type of business that is being supported, or what the technical speciality may be.
For instance, if the business operates in medical environment that treats patients, there are privacy
concerns, and ethical standards that must be followed. The same can be said for the financial
community, and education. While the breadth of Information Technology and the available
specializations are vast, perhaps even more impressive is the amount of trust and ethical burden
placed on the Information Technology professional.
There are many careers and professional roles that have access to a staggering level data that is
private in nature, or sensitive. This data is necessary to perform to function of the profession, but
the expectation and trust is that it will not be disclosed without individual consent. While each
profession has data access concerns, with major ethical implications, the majority of this data can
be guarded and monitored by technological means and enforced with legal policy. As an
information technologist it is often within your purview to employ these protections, and also to
monitor that these safeguards are effective, and not being violated. There are two avenues that I
believe can be approached when it comes to ethics in IT: unauthorized disclosure, and

Erp And Best Of Breed Software
A lot is being talked about in the market about ERP and Best of Breed software. ERP has been
dominating the technology area for a while now, whereas the best of breed is still struggling to
find place in the market. ERP might be an excellent platform to support any business but it has
also been criticized for not being flexible and not being able to meet specific needs of industry.
This is where the best of breed gains an advantage over the ERP systems, by developing standard
software and customizing according to the business needs. ERP and Best of Breed have their
own advantages over each other. While ERP can be used at bigger platforms where a complete
solution is required, Best of breed approach can be used when the focus is towards a particular
area as integrating different processes makes it a cumbersome process.

The Theory Of Management And Management
F. W. Taylor Scientific Management
Scientific management, also called Taylorism, was a theory of management that analyses and
synthesizes workflow. Its main objective is the improvement of economic efficiency, especially
labour productivity. It was one of the first attempts to apply science to the engineering of processes
and management.
Its development began with Frederick Winslow Taylorin the 1880s and 1890s in manufacturing. Its
peak of influence came in the 1910s; in the 1920s, it was still influential, but began an era of
competition and syncretism with opposing or complementary ideas.
Although the scientific direction of a theory or school of distinct thought was obsolete in the 1930s,
most of its themes are still important elements of industrial engineering and management today.
These include the analysis; synthesis; logic; rationality; empiricism; work ethic; efficiency and
waste disposal; standardization of best practices; contempt for tradition preserved only for herself
or to protect the social status of particular workers with particular skill sets; the transformation of
craft production to mass production; and transfer between workers and workers in the tools,
processes and documentation.
Pursuit of economic efficiency:
Although the terms scientific management and Taylorism are generally treated as synonyms, work
of Frederick Taylor marks only the first form of scientific management, followed by other
approaches; So in the theory of

The introduction of colour has increased the level of realism in animation. Dumbo uses colour
to define space, add depth and create a lifelike presentation of both character and space. Klein

Essay On Embryonic Stem Cell Research
Depending on who is asked, embryonic stem cell research, one of the most controversial topics of
all time, can be viewed as either a positive or negative step to a better tomorrow. A great quantity of
people believe that using the embryos of unborn babies can prevent the next
Albert Einstein from being born, so they are one hundred percent against embryonic stem cell
research. However, by researching embryonic stem cells, scientists can study normal human
development, create new drugs and medicines, and replace damaged or destroyed cells.
Therefore, it should be strongly encouraged to continue embryonic stem cell research because it will
pave the path for a better tomorrow.

Empirical Literature Review On Corporate Governance
2.4 Empirical Literature Review 2.4.1 Corporate Governance and Firms Performance The
argument of Berle and Means (1932) on corporate governance formed the foundation for further
studies by various researchers on the trend of corporate governance. Their study revealed the
possibility of creating a separation of control between the mangers who run the large size
corporations and the owners who are the provider of capital. This observation of a departure and
separation of ownership and control gave rise to a situation where emphasis is now focusing on
the behavioural aspect and topical theory of the firm. Kajola (2009) examined corporate
governance and firm performance in Nigeria The result reveals that there is a significant
relationship between Return on Equity (ROE) and board size as well as chief executive status.
The study further reveals a positive significant association between Profit Margin (PM) and chief
executive. Weisbach (1988), Heranlin and Weisbach (1991) examine agency theory and corporate
governance .They observed that there is a positives relationship between firm performance and the
proportion of outside directors sitting on the board. However, in the works of Forberg (1989),

Baby Bust Vs Ambition
The comparisons between the essay Baby Bust and Ambition resulted in numerous similarities, each
with their own point of view. In the Baby Bust essay it is stated that in the struggle to balance work
and family, work consistently wins. People are choosing not to have children, and it is affecting our
economy. Compared to the Ambition essay which generally has a more positive tone regarding this
issue. Both essays have connections in their governmentand societal influence on people, pressure
to start a family without risking your career, and the effects of work and family balance.
The government and society impact our lives greatly, they provide us with information that we
believe to be true, but this is not always the case. In the seventeenth century, Spinoza made the
word ambitious into a rather dislikable quality in an individual. Particularly in women, the word
ambitious was associated with a career woman which implied that she was pitiless, and would give
anything to rise above all. This societal concept was later challenged in the seventies and eighties,
and was transformed into a more acceptable quality (Ambition, P. Klass). Compared to another

The Supply Chain Is All Parts Of The Company That Fulfill...
The supply chain is all parts of the company that fulfill a customer s order. This can include direct
or indirect contact with the customer. Suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and retailers make up
some of the parts of a supply chain that are needed to fill a customer s order. One of the major
parts of the supply chain is the transportation of the raw material or the finished product.
Transportation can be done many ways, which include truck, pipeline, air, water, package carriers,
rail, and intermodal. Air transportation can have its advantages and its disadvantages. Transporting
products by air has advantages such as the speed of travel. Air is the fastest way to transport
products across the world in a reasonable amount of time. Another advantage of transporting
products by air is the fact that they can go as the crow flies , which means they can make direct
paths to the nearest airport. This makes for a speedy travel across the world. As RC Argawal
Transportation says It has no physical barriers as in the case of other mode of transport (RC
Argawal Transportation). There are several disadvantages that companies will incur when they
ship their products by air. Just like any other shipping mode planes can be hi jacked and the
products can be stolen. Planes can crash, very costly, cannot carry large cheap items, and there are
legal restrictions on what can be flown in the plane. Since September 2011, airlines have increased

The Use of Birds in Chronical of a Death Foretold by...
In the novel, Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, birds are used as motifs
intentionally in the imagery of scenes to convey sentiments, ideas and messages to the reader. Some
of the roles taken by the symbolism of birds include indicating signs of the future and afterlife,
supporting character portrayal and development throughout the text. The symbolism of birds is
discussed in the essay because the recurring images of birds have a pertinent significance to the
novella.
In literature, birds are commonly viewed as signs of freedom while in flight, yet while they are
entrapped in cages, they symbolize the struggle for freedom. Gabriel Garcia s usage of birds has
both common and uncommon roles in the novel. The birds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Santiago seemed happy with his father until the latter died suddenly, three years before,
(Marquez 7). In this sense, the dream about floating through a grove of timber trees where a
gentle drizzle was falling, [...] but [...] he awoke [...] spattered with bird shit, (Marquez 3) ties
into Santiago s life. The birds hold significance in this passage in the metaphor comparing bird
shit to life ruining events. The reader learns more about Santiago when the narrator reveals that
Nasar gained the good arts of valor and prudence (7) from his father and is a merry, peaceful, and
openhearted (8) individual. Furthermore, Santiago is an aggressive wealthy individual that is

with falcons.
Subsequently, the reader becomes aware of Santiago s innocence and naivety. Nahir Miguel

The Importance Of Water Resources In China
China s ability to deal with its limited water resources may perhaps be the greatest determining
factor in the future prosperity of the nation as well as wellbeing of the Chinese people. Though not
entirely without freshwater reserves, the sheer size of the nation s population dictates that China
has always failed to be a water abundant country. Recent decades rapid development, inefficient
water usage, and pollution have birthed a severe and growing water crisis. As a key component of
the government s effort to refocus the economy on a more sustainable model of development,
urbanization will only exacerbate this already severe water issue. In the coming years, China s
cities the backbone of the recent phase of growth and prosperity will grow by millions in
population. It is crucial that this path to development is followed while ensuring the availability of
safe, clean water to both urban and rural citizens.
The country s water challenge, while universally felt, does vary from region to region. While
freshwater resources are concentrated in the southern and western regions of China, the reforms of
the 1980 s resulted in rapid growth of urban clusters in the eastern and northern regions, resulting in
water use being uneven across the country. The growing Chinese cities rely on groundwater, which
is being overexploited by the increasingly dense population. China s agricultural needs also present
a substantial drain on the country s water resources. China s land

The Use Of Dna Tests For Hair And Blood Samples
Evidence to Convict Innocent People
Scientific breakthroughs now allow the use of DNA tests for hair and blood samples that are about
as reliable as fingerprint matching. While the evidence assists law enforcement, it allows defense
attorneys to reopen cases to reevaluate solving crimes.
Introduction
When was the last time you have mistaken someone s identity? What did the last person in class
have on today? Wrongful convictions may begin during the investigative process. Police
misconduct or mistaken eyewitness testimony can ruin the rest of a person s life. The criminal
justice system can be changed to prevent the latter by reforming the type of evidence allowed to be
used when convicting a person. Most cases of wrongful conviction are either police initiated, which
begin with the assumption that a specific person is guilty, or witness initiated, which contains an
articulate eyewitness testimony.
Police Initiated
Police investigations often begin with tunnel vision. Tunnel vision occurs when the police focus on
one suspect and do not go through a thorough investigation. Tunnel vision usually obtains biases
and the real criminal gets off free. They contain faulty labs, the old boy method , and manufacturing
evidence to fill in holes. They also contain police misconduct by the use of snitches (con game),
accomplices (turning in of a partner for a lighter sentence), and coerced confessions. Witness

Witness initiated convictions are usually for

What Does Al Fuzai Use Pathos In The Criminal Use Of The Veil
Criminal Use of the Veil is an opinion piece written by Muna Al Fuzai on Kuwait Times. It talks
about a woman wearing a veil that served a Filipina maid as a feast to some youths in a desert
camp who raped and harmed her. Muna discusses how dangerous it is that women who are
veiled are not questioned for their identity because its is seen as a virtue. After crimes by veiled
women are commited, no one is able to find the suspect because the face has not been shown
which leads to many crimes left unsolved. Fuzai s piece is persuasive because she uses pathos,
metaphors, and similes. Pathos is the use of emotions to persuade an audience of an idea or an
argument. Fuzai incorporates pathos throughout the piece while describing the horrible... Show

Fuzai persuades the readers using metaphors to show a connection between two unlike things. For
example, Fuzai compares the poor maid to [becoming] fodder to the two rapists to show how the
men dehumanized the maid and saw her only as something to feed their hunger for lust. She also
describes the two rapists as sex maniacs to show how their behaviors were extremely wild and
violent. All that mattered to them was satisfying their sexual desires even if that meant harming an
innocent person. She warns the readers of the danger of veiled women by describing them as ghosts
without features because they keep their identity hidden under the veil and no one can see them.
They travel around anonymously and unidentified just like ghosts. It could be a crazy person
who is not even a female under the veil that is plotting a crime. This person would get away with
it because when a dissenting voice is raised, it is silenced by calling the veil a virtue . Every time
someone tries to speak up about this concerning issue of veiled women, someone else comes and

Moral Of Antigone
The play begins as Antigone and her sister Ismene speak of the death of their brothers Polyneices
and Eteocles. However, it is important to note that what events precluded this scene, which was
sparked by Eteocles s taking reign of the Thebes after Oedipus had died. It ultimately caused
Polyneices to wage a battle against his former city and drove the two brothers to kill one another
(Sophocles8). Thus, leaving Creonwho was both of brother s uncle in control of the city of Thebes.
Antigoneand Ismene discuss the proclamation newly put forth by Creon which was due to the fact
that Polyneices committed treason against Thebes he would not be granted a burial, thus foregoing
the Unwritten Law protecting the rights of the dead (Sophocles 9). It was this decree that provoked
Antigone to opposed Creon as she decides to bury Polyneices herself and she attempts to recruit
Ismene to help her with this action, however, Ismene tried to persuade Antigone not to go through
with the burial.
As the play progresses it comes to Creon s attention by one of the guards that Polynieces body has

The Importance Of Evidence Based Assessment
Review the care given and provide an evidence based critique of that care It is vitally important
to initiate accurate documentation and assessment when performing a patients observation as
this can clearly prevent and identify acute poor health (Mulryan, 2011). On the other hand, an
observation assessment can to often be performed accurately and incorrectly (Mulryan, 2011).
For that reason, a nurse s ability, knowledge, competence and documentation are all paramount
when assessing a patient stability (Mulryan, 2011). On evaluating the care that was given to
Sam, when being assessed every four hours for vital signs, by nurses involved in her care.
Firstly, Sam was on medication for pain relief which was helping keep her pain free. As she
stated when asked in the PSA if she was in pain, Sam stated that she was not in any pain at the
time. Evidence based practice recommends that a nurse should give the patient regular analgesic
and PRN analgesic when needed (Park et al, 2016). Inadequately managed pain can lead to
adverse physical and psychological patient outcomes for individual patients and their families
(Park et al, 2016). inadequate pain management negatively affect the patient s welfare and the
hospital performance because of extended lengths of stay and readmissions, both of which
increase the cost of care (Park et al, 2016). Secondly, due to Sam s condition she was at risk of

The decision on the Mandate did not take into account the wishes of the people of Palestine, despite
the Covenant s requirements that the wishes of these communities must be a principal
consideration in the selection of the Mandatory . This assumed special significance because, almost
five years before receiving the mandate from the League of Nations, the British Government had
given commitments to the Zionist Organization regarding the establishment of a Jewish national
home in Palestine, for which Zionist leaders had pressed a claim of historical connection since
their ancestors had lived in Palestine two thousand years earlier before dispersing in the Diaspora .
During the period of the Mandate, the Zionist Organization worked to secure the establishment of a
Jewish national home in Palestine. The indigenous people of Palestine, whose forefathers had
inhabited the land for virtually the two preceding millennia, felt this design to be a violation of
their natural and inalienable rights. They also viewed it as an infringement of assurances of
independence given by the Allied Powers to Arab leaders in return for their support during the war.

The Theme Of Power In The Veldt By Ray Bradbury
Julia Sherman
November 10, 2017
English Pd. 6
The Veldt Thematic Essay When considering reasons for a power or control shift in a relationship
between a parent and child, one of the most common reasons considered is the fact that parents are
giving kids too much too soon. As a parent gives these things, literal objects and figurative things,
too soon, they are actually letting the power in their relationship shift and giving the kids more
control. In The Veldt, the author, Ray Bradbury, emphasizes the theme with dialogue and tone. In
the short story, George and Lydia Hadley, and their two children Peter and Wendy, are living in a
smart house, where almost everything gets done for them. The quote, But I thought we that s
why we bought this house, so we wouldn t have to do anything? shows how little they have to do
to have everything nice and keep a good home. The children have grown up not doing anything;
they do not even paint their own pictures. The children do not do their own laundry, make their
own beds, or bathe themselves. Their lives are so simple, and all they spend their days doing is
looking, listening, and smelling. The children enjoy not participating in life, but merely spectating
it. Peter and Wendy not only get this literally, but they also figuratively get the freedom to come
and go as they please. Now, they may enjoy all of these things, but each thing or freedom which
Wendy and Peter receive is another piece of power that the parents once had

Marketing plans at PepsiCo
PepsiCo (n.d.) is a global food and beverage leader with a diverse product portfolio that includes 22
brands that each generates over $1 billion in revenue ( Global Brands , n.d.). While PepsiCo is
second only to Coca Cola in the production of CSD beverages, PepsiCo is the number one producer
of snack foods in the world (Hoovers, Inc., n.d). Pepsico has outgrown Coca Cola in terms of
revenue over the last five years (Cardenal, 2013, n.p.) because PepsiCo is able to leverage sales of
its complementary snack foods with CSD (De Kluyver Pearce, 2011).
However, PepsiCo s success is a result of leadership by its long standing CEO, Indra Nooyi and
her teams across the globe in forecasting, planning and great marketing in an ever changing
business environment. Forecasting is used by organizations to predict future events. Planning is
conducted by an organization to layout desired courses of action and desired end states (Schroeder,

Essay on tipping
Tipping Experiences
Tips are generally a small amount of money given to a person as gratitude for a service that has
been provided. There are many times throughout our everyday lives in which we are put in a
position to leave a gratuity. Whether it be dining at a restaurant, getting your hair cut at the salon, or
having a few drinks with friends at a bar. In each case there was a service provided to you, now
you have a decision to make, how much of a tip is considered acceptable and should you tip
everyone that provides a service to you? There are many guidelines for consumers to follow. With
modern technology there are convenient tip calculators available as features on most new cellular

a story where people actually got arrested because they refused to pay the mandatory 18% tip. At
some point consumers should have the right to draw the line when it comes to tipping. Michael
Lewis says our natural and admirable reluctance to enter into the spirit of the thing causes the thing
to lose whatever value it had in the first place (23). Tip amounts should not be mandated by the
size of the party. A gratuity should remain based upon the quality of the service that was provided.
Many people have lasting relationships with their salon technicians and other professionals such
as a favorite restaurant s staff, and the mechanic. For example when getting your hair cut or a
manicure you tend to stay loyal to one technician due to the fact that he or she does a wonderful

an amazing job for you every time you visit then they are deserving of a good tip. The holidays
are a good time to be generous with the people who served you satisfactorily all through the year.

He believed his beer would have nutritive value and while you may not find his brew on the off

they were tense. The slightly exaggerated titters, and uncertainty in their eyes gave them away. I
suppose it was the same with me, only that I hid my agitation with reticence. Shortly, my
consciousness faded and I delved deep into my mind, looking back at the back days, months,
and years, looking for any hints or events that may have led me here. I realized soon there was
not a single coherent or convincing explanation for this. Everything was as if I was guided by a
greater force than life itself, a force more primal and more ancient than reason or human aptitude.
All of a sudden, it seemed so awry. So

Cruel And Unusual Punishment
The cruel and unusual punishment provision is that the law must treat all criminals with dignity
even the most despicable ones. Any sentence that is taking lives instead of rehabilitating is cruel
and unusual and infringes the decency of society. The corrections system helps rehabilitate inmates
through individual or group counseling about the cause of incarceration. They train them with
suitable skills programs, such as how to prepare a job application and to interviews, and the
importance of maintaining a steady employment to support family responsibilities. They help the
inmates through educational programs to achieve a higher education while in prisonand to succeed
economically and live a healthier lifestyle outside of prison. The corrections system hopes with new
skills incorporated; they will be able to be more productive. Keeping them engaged with medical
and psychiatric treatment will keep them mentally stable for their reentry into the community.
James Gilligan (2012), a Psychiatry Professor at NewYork University, stated that Two thirds of
inmates reoffending within three years with more violent crimes after leaving prison which means
incarceration for punishment does not work positively. Inflicting punishment on convicts for pay
back only makes them more empowered criminals. Rehabilitation is the only key to reducing
crimes because a regenerated person is more conscious of how their behaviors cause their loved
ones and others around them to suffer. Awareness

Women s Role In Colonial American Society
The Revolution and aftermath reflect a mostly unchanged the United States, sustained by the
actions of the established government and Founding Fathers. Drawing upon a variety of first person
sources, Zinn argues that by extending slight concessions or benefits to the middle class or less
privileged, the wealthy managed to maintain power while strengthening a base of support. The
centralization of wealth best indicates the unchanging circumstances in the United States. 10 percent
of the white population... owned nearly half the wealth of the country, indicating an incredibly large
divide in class. Requirements on a governmental position often included large amounts of property,
thus excluding the majority of the population; the absurd requirements... Show more content on

Despite all this, the growth of industry caused increased dependence on women, eventually leading
to the creation of feminism. By following women s role in society from the creation of the
colonies, Zinn analyzes patterns of continuity and change over time in the development of
feminism. The first women came to colonial America as a shipment of female servants: meant to
bear children and act as domestic slaves. As servants, women faced abuse including whipping and
molestation, their low position preventing them from protesting against their masters. Female
slaves faced even harsher treatment due to their double oppression of slave and gender, often
giving birth to children in the scalding perspiration from the human cargo, and even while chained
to corpses (Zinn 96). Even freed women suffered from the English prejudices regarding women.
According to English laws at the time, wedlock made a women s new self [her husband]... her
superior; her companion, her master (Zinn 97). Society assumed women wanteth [sic] our [male]
Reason for your Conduct, and our Strength for your Protection, implying the inferiority and
ineptitude of the female sex (Zinn 98). The role of women as servants in colonial America
supported the general prejudices of the time and made it easier to disregard the female sex entirely.
The arrival of the Revolutionary War helped some women defy gender roles by actively
participating in the war efforts. The contributions that many women made remain ignored due to
the inconsistency with the stereotypical qualities exemplified by the refined wives of
Revolutionary leaders. Jefferson s view that women ought not to wrinkle their foreheads with
politics reflects the sexist ideas carried throughout the Revolution (Zinn 100). Industrialization

Technology’s Detrimental Effects on Communication
Recent advancements in technology, especially social networking, have severely hindered the
communication skills of today s society by promoting edited, impersonal and staged
communication. Today s society places a high value on websites such as Facebook, MySpace and
Twitter; so much so, that it is startling when someone does not own a profile on a social network.
The dependency on technological communication continues to reduce the ability of today s
generation to read body language, facial expressions, and to clearly vocalize what is important to
them. Technology has changed drastically in the past 50 years, and continues to grow and morph
every day. Today s youth and adolescents are seen with their heads down, texting on their... Show

Although technology was not an option to Baca, he realized that words do not stem from the
physical world. Language does not come from books, formulas, or from a glowing white screen.
With technology thrown into the mix, communication can become anonymous, edited, and
thought out before it is written down/typed up. Written, typed, and texted communication skills
are vastly different from the communication skills needed to hold a conversation in the flesh. It
requires a level of grace and mindfulness to communicate in the real world, especially when it
comes to arguments and matters of great importance. (Such as proposing to your significant
other, or a job interview.) When you type a sentence on a screen, you have the option to reread
it, edit it, add to it, and even delete it. Typed communication allows for the user to edit and
censor their thoughts before they are sent out in a message/post/e mail/etc. While this skill is
useful for writing a paper and for creating a resume, it does not translate well to genuine
conversation. Since many people rely on spell check and the delete button, it does not reinforce
the skills that would allow them to catch those mistakes of their own accord. A lack of mental
filtering skills can lead an individual to misspeak and say something embarrassing, insulting and
even cruel in face to face

Gcu Rejection Letter
I am contacting you to formally appeal your decision to reject my application to transfer to ECU
for the fall semester. My belief is steadfast that I could excel at your university. I was told on
Friday August 4th that my GPA was too low to be admitted this semester and I had the option to
take more classes, raise my GPA and reapply for the spring semester.
After receiving my initial rejection letter earlier this year, I picked myself up by the bootstraps and
took realized that the medication I had taken since middle school for ADHD, a learning difference
would play a significant factor in my future studies. I was prescribed medication and was told it was
the immediate solution. Although the medication helped, I still had to learn the best

  • 2. Much Ado About Nothing Comedy Analysis A farce or comedy is best played; A tragedy is best read at home. is a quote by former president Abraham Lincoln. It holds especially true for Much Ado about Nothing by Shakespeare; this play is best read at home. Because the language is too advanced, it does not have the elements of a comedy, and the characters are not funny. For these reasons, Much Ado about Nothing should not be considered a comedy. There are multiple reasons why it should not be considered a comedy. The first reason is that the language used is advanced and uncommon, so if there were any comedy involved many readers would not notice. The dialogue Shakespeare used may have been common and understandable back in his time, but in today s modern day it is much different. Dogberry states Goodman Verges, sir, speaks a little off the matter an old man, sir, and his wits are not so blunt. Nobody speaks old English as a native language today. Don John is the antagonist who is mischievous, deceiving man who is entirely not funny. When Don John deceives Claudio into thinking Hero was unfaithful, Claudio shames her during their wedding. Infidelity is not a topic to laugh about, especially when Hero even goes as far as faking her own death. All together, Much Ado About Nothing by Shakespeare does not contain the aspects of a comedy. • 3. Words To Describe Chris There are many people in this world who hold great reputations. There are far fewer people who posess great character. A reputation is built in just moments, and reflects what you do in front of people. Character, on the other hand, is built over years, and is reflected in what is unseen by others. Of all of my friends, one exemplifies great character more than any of the others. His name is Chris. Chris stands a little over 6 feet tall with thick, dirty blonde hair. His piercing blue eyes change color in the sunlight. He is very light complected, with a small amount of facial hair on the base of his chin. His long sideburns grow down the length of his ear. He is probably one of the most knowledgible people I know concerning the Scriptures. Even when challenged for his religious beliefs, he still seems to have the ability to make peace with those who don t like him. In much of the way that food does not stick to teflon, insults seem to have no lasting effect on his personality. He doesn t seem to take anything personally. • 5. Tyrian Purple Research Paper Tyrian purple, founded most notably in Tyre, an ancient Phoenician city, is the pigment that begat the association between purple and royalty. The color was made by crushing the bodies of thousands of mollusks just for an ounce of pigment over 250,000 of the creatures needed to be crushed, which explains the extreme expense of the color and its association with royalty. A clear fluid was extracted from these organisms which eventually transformed into purpleon exposure to light and air. The color was exorbitant in price being at one time worth more than gold. Apart from its associations with royalty, the color, which ranged from more blue to more red, had strong associations with blood. Analysis of Pink Floyd s Song, Mother Essay Analysis of Pink Floyd s Song, Mother Had Sigmund Freud lived 40 more years (to the overripe old age of 123), he would have been delighted to hear such a wonderful example of his life s psychoanlytic work embodied in the haunting lyrics of Mother. Or had Oedipus lived a few millennium longer than his fictional death he would have found an adversary in the youthful Pink, a young boy whose desire for maternal acceptance and love is arguably equal to the greatest mother centered protagonists in the history of literature. Contrary to the eye gouging antics of Oedipus or even the grandiose melodrama later in Floyd s album, Mother is relatively low key and emotionally subtle. So why would the band choose to illustrate such a serious stage of personal development with the nursery rhyme like style of the song s chorus? Before we get to that, the song s emotional and psychological message must first be examined. Similar to the music, the lyrics are as subtle as they are unsettling. Although the song takes a seemingly forthright form of question and answer, the psychological implications behind the lyrics are far from being simple and straightforward. Although the battling was over, the effects of World War II were still extent in the years following the atrocious fight. The destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the atomic bomb as well as the deaths of millions of Holocaust victims and soldiers were all too fresh in the global consciousness. Fears of nuclear warfare and continued fighting ran rampant through the post war world, instilling a sense of uncertainty in the generations of and following the war. Such fears are blatantly reflected by the first line of the song in which Pink asks his mother if they ll drop the bomb, referring to the apprehension of enemy retaliation. However, this line, as well as the majority of the lyrics, is open to a wide range of interpretation. Because of the psychological tendency to group people into two main categories (those like us and those apart from us, or the Other) coupled with the recent divisions of global powers in the war, one automatically assumes that the they Pink refers to is the ... Its main objective is the improvement of economic efficiency, especially labour productivity. It was one of the first attempts to apply science to the engineering of processes and management. Its development began with Frederick Winslow Taylorin the 1880s and 1890s in manufacturing. Its peak of influence came in the 1910s; in the 1920s, it was still influential, but began an era of competition and syncretism with opposing or complementary ideas. Although the scientific direction of a theory or school of distinct thought was obsolete in the 1930s, most of its themes are still important elements of industrial engineering and management today. These include the analysis; synthesis; logic; rationality; empiricism; work ethic; efficiency and waste disposal; standardization of best practices; contempt for tradition preserved only for herself or to protect the social status of particular workers with particular skill sets; the transformation of craft production to mass production; and transfer between workers and workers in the tools, processes and documentation. In the Baby Bust essay it is stated that in the struggle to balance work and family, work consistently wins. People are choosing not to have children, and it is affecting our economy. Compared to the Ambition essay which generally has a more positive tone regarding this issue. Both essays have connections in their governmentand societal influence on people, pressure to start a family without risking your career, and the effects of work and family balance. The government and society impact our lives greatly, they provide us with information that we believe to be true, but this is not always the case. In the seventeenth century, Spinoza made the word ambitious into a rather dislikable quality in an individual. Particularly in women, the word ambitious was associated with a career woman which implied that she was pitiless, and would give anything to rise above all. This societal concept was later challenged in the seventies and eighties, and was transformed into a more acceptable quality (Ambition, P. Klass). This can include direct or indirect contact with the customer. Suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and retailers make up some of the parts of a supply chain that are needed to fill a customer s order. One of the major parts of the supply chain is the transportation of the raw material or the finished product. Transportation can be done many ways, which include truck, pipeline, air, water, package carriers, rail, and intermodal. Air transportation can have its advantages and its disadvantages. Transporting products by air has advantages such as the speed of travel. Air is the fastest way to transport products across the world in a reasonable amount of time. Another advantage of transporting products by air is the fact that they can go as the crow flies , which means they can make direct paths to the nearest airport. This makes for a speedy travel across the world. As RC Argawal Transportation says It has no physical barriers as in the case of other mode of transport (RC Argawal Transportation). There are several disadvantages that companies will incur when they ship their products by air. Just like any other shipping mode planes can be hi jacked and the products can be stolen. In the novel, Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, birds are used as motifs intentionally in the imagery of scenes to convey sentiments, ideas and messages to the reader. Some of the roles taken by the symbolism of birds include indicating signs of the future and afterlife, supporting character portrayal and development throughout the text. The symbolism of birds is discussed in the essay because the recurring images of birds have a pertinent significance to the novella. In literature, birds are commonly viewed as signs of freedom while in flight, yet while they are entrapped in cages, they symbolize the struggle for freedom. The birds hold significance in this passage in the metaphor comparing bird shit to life ruining events. The Importance Of Water Resources In China China s ability to deal with its limited water resources may perhaps be the greatest determining factor in the future prosperity of the nation as well as wellbeing of the Chinese people. Though not entirely without freshwater reserves, the sheer size of the nation s population dictates that China has always failed to be a water abundant country. Recent decades rapid development, inefficient water usage, and pollution have birthed a severe and growing water crisis. As a key component of the government s effort to refocus the economy on a more sustainable model of development, urbanization will only exacerbate this already severe water issue. In the coming years, China s cities the backbone of the recent phase of growth and prosperity will grow by millions in population. It is crucial that this path to development is followed while ensuring the availability of safe, clean water to both urban and rural citizens. The country s water challenge, while universally felt, does vary from region to region. While freshwater resources are concentrated in the southern and western regions of China, the reforms of the 1980 s resulted in rapid growth of urban clusters in the eastern and northern regions, resulting in water use being uneven across the country. The growing Chinese cities rely on groundwater, which is being overexploited by the increasingly dense population. China s agricultural needs also present a substantial drain on the country s water resources. China s land ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What did the last person in class have on today? Wrongful convictions may begin during the investigative process. Police misconduct or mistaken eyewitness testimony can ruin the rest of a person s life. The criminal justice system can be changed to prevent the latter by reforming the type of evidence allowed to be used when convicting a person. Most cases of wrongful conviction are either police initiated, which begin with the assumption that a specific person is guilty, or witness initiated, which contains an articulate eyewitness testimony. Police Initiated Police investigations often begin with tunnel vision. Tunnel vision occurs when the police focus on one suspect and do not go through a thorough investigation. Tunnel vision usually obtains biases and the real criminal gets off free. They contain faulty labs, the old boy method , and manufacturing evidence to fill in holes. The decision on the Mandate did not take into account the wishes of the people of Palestine, despite the Covenant s requirements that the wishes of these communities must be a principal consideration in the selection of the Mandatory . The Theme Of Power In The Veldt By Ray Bradbury Julia Sherman November 10, 2017 English Pd. 6 The Veldt Thematic Essay When considering reasons for a power or control shift in a relationship between a parent and child, one of the most common reasons considered is the fact that parents are giving kids too much too soon. As a parent gives these things, literal objects and figurative things, too soon, they are actually letting the power in their relationship shift and giving the kids more control. In The Veldt, the author, Ray Bradbury, emphasizes the theme with dialogue and tone. In the short story, George and Lydia Hadley, and their two children Peter and Wendy, are living in a smart house, where almost everything gets done for them. The quote, But I thought we that s why we bought this house, so we wouldn t have to do anything? shows how little they have to do to have everything nice and keep a good home. The children have grown up not doing anything; they do not even paint their own pictures. The children do not do their own laundry, make their own beds, or bathe themselves. Their lives are so simple, and all they spend their days doing is looking, listening, and smelling. The children enjoy not participating in life, but merely spectating it. The first women came to colonial America as a shipment of female servants: meant to bear children and act as domestic slaves. As servants, women faced abuse including whipping and molestation, their low position preventing them from protesting against their masters. Female slaves faced even harsher treatment due to their double oppression of slave and gender, often giving birth to children in the scalding perspiration from the human cargo, and even while chained to corpses (Zinn 96). Even freed women suffered from the English prejudices regarding women. According to English laws at the time, wedlock made a women s new self [her husband]... her superior; her companion, her master (Zinn 97). The role of women as servants in colonial America supported the general prejudices of the time and made it easier to disregard the female sex entirely. The arrival of the Revolutionary War helped some women defy gender roles by actively participating in the war efforts. The contributions that many women made remain ignored due to the inconsistency with the stereotypical qualities exemplified by the refined wives of Revolutionary leaders.
