Critical Issues Paper Of Testing Equality

The diagnosis of students of autism brings long term effects that can increase the functionality of the
child s life. As we know, early diagnosis is key producing long term effects whenever families and
parents are diligent in getting their children help. Throughout the diagnosis process, it is imperative to
take every element into account. Considerations such as race, culture, and socioeconomic status may
affect the validity and reliability of the test. Although the test can be administered exactly as it should
be, there are many different characteristics of the child in their upbringing that can affect the outcome
of the results.
Whether a diagnosis of autism, or diagnosis of another disability is to be made, interventions can be
developed to add the child s tool belt on their waist of life. Research shows that the early intervention
can highly impact the likelihood of success (Krader, 2014). The American Academy of pediatric tells
us that the diagnosis procedure should start in children between 18 and 24 months. With the essential
screening process, recommendations can be used to begin intervention and start the help that the child
needs. As we have seen through research, not all children receive testing that proves equality (Krader,
2014).
Beginning diagnosis and testing process can be very intimidating to the parents, especially if this is
their first

The Pros And Cons Of The Tory Party
Introduction The Conservative party is the centre right political part in the United Kingdom . It s also
the biggest party in the government of the day with 8296 counsellors involved , and a number of 303
members of parliament in the United Kingdom . The Tory party is the founder of the The Conservative
party in the year of 1834 . With that being in mind , the leader of The Conservative party today in the
United Kingdom is David Cameroon . His appearance in the United Kingdom brought acts like
Welfare Reform Act of 2012 , the Educational Act of 2011 , and the Health And Social Care Act of
2012 . The biggest issue or in another word , the most debated issue in the United Kingdom as for
today is the repelling of the Human Rights Act , an idea which has been brought on by the Tory
government . This is mainly because the Tory government is in the opinion that the Human Rights Act
1998 had allowed the judiciary to undermine the parliament which they plan to replace it with the

The Government of Lao PDR and Ethnic Minorities
Since the end of the Cold War, the government of Lao PDR (GoL) promoted internal resettlement of
indigenous ethnic minorities from remote highlands to lowland areas and along roads as an effort to
make the delivery of government services such as health care and education more cost efficient.
Though the government considers resettlement a voluntary choice on the part of the village, the
government implements incentives for villages to resettle such as healthcare and disincentives for
villages to remain in the highland such as destruction of agriculture as an attempt to encourage
resettlement. But, internal resettlement had a devastating impact on the health of the relocated
minorities and the healthcare promised by the government was inadequate and in some places
nonexistent. To promote rural development, the Lao PDR government incentivized the resettlement of
ethnic minorities from the mountainous highlands to the lowlands as a way of improving the minority
s access to health care, but suppressed immune systems suppressed from malnutrition and exposure to
malaria ultimately increased mortality among those who resettled.
As a strategy for rural development, the government of Lao PDR encouraged the resettlement of
villages with the idea that the resettlement would allow the government to provide services more cost
effectively than traveling to the mountainous communities as had been done in the past. Post Cold
War, rural Lao PDR where the ethnic minorities resided was

Commercial Arts In High School
As I stood at the top of the steps, my excitement grew. I slowly made my way downstairs. As I looked
around the corner, I saw that my wish came true. You see, this Christmas, I had asked for an art desk
and there it was full of art supplies. I immediately began drawing and painting which led to wet
pictures and messes all through the house. I could not put down my new art supplies. I used and used
them and constantly asked for supplies to be replaced.
Fast forward a few years and I am found staring into the Commercial Arts class at my high school.
Upon taking a few steps into the room, I looked at all the classroom had to offer. Tables, computers,
and every kind of art supply you could think of were located in this room. This room had me
mesmerized.

Analysis Of The City Of God
#2
Mr. Knerr
HWC 4
16 November, 2017
The City of God in God s Country? Every human is called to own two identities. The people of Rome,
known to have had their feet planted firmly in materialism and worldly pleasure, believed their empire
fell due to the punishment of their gods upon the converted/increasingly Christian nation. Augustine, a
bishop of Hippo, recorded his thoughts into his book The City of God to answer questions the
Romans, including Christians, had been asking about the momentous fall of the Roman Empire.
Orosius, Augustine s pupil, contrasted with his teacher on certain viewpoints of the City of God and
the City of Man. While Augustine believes that the City of God is misrepresented on Earth, Orosius
believes that God chooses certain nations to represent Him in the City of Man. The work of Augustine
and Orosius provide proper context for the dual citizen by recognizing failure in representation,
understanding the meaning of being chosen , and realizing the true meaning of a dual citizen in the
City of God and City of Man. Augustine s belief that prosperous earthly cities such as the United
States and Rome are not like the City of God supports an accurate illustration of a proper Christian
understanding of dual citizenship . The United States is not an example of the City of God because of
its lack of upholding Christian values. In Excerpts from Augustine s City of God , Augustine displays
the values of the two cities of dual citizenship . He

The Philosophy Of Classroom Management
Theoretical Introduction  Philosophy of Classroom Management When I think of my future
classroom, I imagine it to a home. I plan for my students and I to be a big family , and it will still be a
learning environment. While I am teaching a lesson I would like for my students to be quite when they
should be listening and participating when it is time for them to participate. I am there to guide their
learning, the students will be allowed to share, correct, and exchange information when the time is
appropriate. I will have the traditional teaching style which is the students paying attention to the
teacher, then once the students seem to understand the content they will then be able to move around
and interact with other student in either group discussions or at the learning centers throughout the
classroom. My classroom will be nice and bright to keep up the positive energy, and it will still be
conducted as a learning environment for my students, and they will understand that everything that
they learn in my classroom will travel with them till they are old, and they will be able to understand
why they are in school and what their purpose is in life.  Assumptions about the Nature of Young
People and Learning Every young person wants to satisfy their basic needs which usually tends to be
power, love, freedom and fun. They always want to be in control of their selves and the area around
them. Children will misbehave when they feel like the area is too strict around them,

7 Habits Of Highly Effective People Book Report
The book Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R.Covey is held in high regard around
the nation. As one of the top Amazon Kindle downloads it s easy to see its popularity as an aid in
personal change. Over the years things in society change. When going from an industrial age to an
information age we will be up against all new challenges. Dealing with those changes in a healthy and
productive way requires the use of several different skill or habits. The seven habits of highly effective
people range from being proactive to finding synergy in one s life. While reading this book I took
some notes about the habits and I came upon two that I feel I could make use of to better my life
professional as well as personally. Habit number two Begin with the end in mind and habit number
seven Sharpening the saw stood out to me as areas that I could work on. The premise of each is fairly
simple and applying them to my own life and career is are steps I can see myself adding to my daily
routine.

Moral Distress And Avoidance Behavior
In the article ¨Moral Distress And Avoidance Behavior In Nurses Working In Critical Care And
Noncritical Care Units, by Mary Jo De Villers, she states ¨it has been predicted that there will be a
shortage of 500,000 nurses in the United States by 2025.¨ This counts for the United States alone.
Many articles state that more and more research is being done on moral distress relating to nurses all
around. This leaves researchers wondering, could this be the main reason for the shortage of nurses?
Moral distress comes into play dramatically with specific nurses such as pediatric intensive care,
neonatal intensive care, and intensive care unit. Many of the nurses have to deal with life or death
situations on a daily basis working in those units. Dealing with that dilemma daily makes it harder for
this medical staff to go back to the hospital. All nurses deal with some kind of moral distress, but
critical care nurses suffer from a more intense level of distress. There are many factors that play into
the shortage of nurses. In Anthony Tuckett s study, he discovers reasons why nurses are leaving the
profession. In attempt to understand, he interviewed nurses and asked for their opinion on the lack of
physicians assistant. Overall, Tuckett concluded that the primary reasons for this are no manager
support, co worker support, and the fact that business policies are put before caring for the patient
(364). New nurses feel belittled when entering the profession and old nurses feel as

The Dormant Accounts From Wwii
Dormant accounts Dormant accounts from WWII became an issue in the mid 1990 s when World
Jewish Congress (WJC) decided to go after Swiss banks for funds they claimed should have been
given back to the survivors or their descendants. According to the WJC, $1.24 billion was paid out to
funds set up by Swiss banks ( Report: Swiss Banks Holocaust Fund Paid out 1.24 Billion Dollars,
2013). So how do the Swiss banks handle regular dormant accounts? From first sight it seems like it
would be easy, unlike holocaust survivors and victims descendants that have spread out all over the
world after the war. Private accounts are private, and if a customer dies without leaving beneficiary
information or company goes out of business accounts are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The toxic securities came to $38.7 billion CHF (Shotter, 2013). As the economy improved UBS was
required to buy back a portion plus interest.
Secrecy, Tax Evasion, and Money Laundering The degree to which tax evasion and money laundering
have been investigated in recent years, the validity of having such secrecy has been questioned again.
In 2003 the European Union reached an agreement to phase out banking secrecy, but in fears that the
clients will withdraw funds and deposit them in Switzerland, the three member nations that have
secrecy laws, Belgium, Luxemburg, and Austria, would be permitted to keep those laws so long as
Switzerland does (Meller Langley, 2003). The EU countries, banks will be held to withholding a 15%
tax on the earnings of account holders. So what is money laundering? Our trip to HSBC, Nick
Batterton, provided us with a detailed overview and a case scenario to show just how easily one may
launder money. The three core stages of money laundering are the placement, layering, and
integration. You must first enter your illegal funds into the financial system through deposit, usually
through a legitimate looking business. Then you layer or launder, where you make multiple complex
transactions to displace it from the origin deposit. Once complete you re enter the funds into ligament
purchases such as luxury purchases and financial investments. So why are the banks in

My Personal Classroom Management Philosophy
A classroom philosophy is fundamental for an effective educator, for not only does it set up one s
classroom but it also sets up the type of teacher that one wants to be. A classroom philosophy dictates
everything from discipline to the way one presents information. It is the driving force in a teacher s
classroom and is often times directly related as to why that teacher wants to teach. Due to its
importance, it is critical to examine a multitude of different philosophies before crafting one s own.
After a semester of examining a variety of different classroom management philosophies, I personally
have development my own philosophy as to how I wish to run my classroom. For my classroom
philosophy I have drawn methods from three classroom management gurus, however, it is rooted in
two simple ideals. My personal classroom management philosophy is that it is the teacher s
responsibility to create a classroom that prepares students for the real world and promotes a love of
learning and curiosity. There are several reasons as to why my main focuses are on having my
classroom prepare students for the real world and to promote a love of learning, these reasons can be
found through the philosophies in which have inspired this view. The first philosophy that I personally
drew part of my philosophy from was Alfie Kohn s philosophy of classroom management. Alfie Kohn
s philosophy is rooted in the idea of logical consequences (Alfie, 1996) I personally really related to

Failure to manage a payroll effectively may cause many problems for the company and its employees.
It could mean loss of money, integrity, and trust between both parties.
Oftentimes, it takes many hours of work and manpower to get the job done. In certain cases, effective
payroll management is compromised by the lack of an effective system. Most companies may have
enough manpower and resources. However, with an effective information technology, managing a
payroll will be simpler, cost effective, timely and reliable.
One of the companies that use manual payroll system is the Arias Garments. It was established last
September 18, 1994 at #88 Bargy. Latag, Lipa City, under the management of Mr. Alex Arias together
with his wife Mrs. Anita Carol Katigbak. It started with only forty machines and ten employees. The
capital of Arias Garments is Php 500,000.00. By 1996, Arias Garments became the subcontractor of
Champan Garments. Champan Garments produce and transport products like Gap, Banana Republic,
Old Navy, Tommy, and Hilfinger.
As of now, Arias Garments have 176 machines and 100 employees (40 regular and 60 contractual).
8:00AM is the time in of employees, 4:00PM is the time out, and they consider 8:15AM as late.
Employees who are late or either log out earlier than 4:00PM will have a deduction on their wages

The Positives Of Colonialism
World Issues: Personal Opinion Essay
The Positives of Colonialism:
Colonialism has been portrayed as leaving negative impacts on countries, however many do not take
into consideration the positives effects of colonization. The people of Africa established a mainstream
religion to follow (Christianity), including new laws and a new political system. Countries bonded
with one another and signed agreements to prevent conflict between countries. It has benefited many
people that were illiterate; schools and education were given importance by the British, whether it was
education in India or Africa all of them were given universal education. Colonization has brought
many benefits to countries like Africa, Pakistan and India. Each country was given the opportunity to
shape themselves, to be able to stand up on their own with British aid. Colonialism moulded the
countries to what they are, and in return the British requested much less than the countries it
supported. With the help of the British, countries managed to stabilize their justice systems, boost their
economy, and introduce a new religion. People misunderstood the British because of the power they
had and assumed that if they were to take over their land, they would lose all control over their
country. However contradicting their common beliefs, countries remained to have control over their
colonies and Britain continued to do its job as a provider. The power Britain encompassed provided
countries with safety and

How Did The Author Change My Name
If you had the chance to change your name, what would you change it to? Many authors of famous
books change their name for many different reasons. This is called a Pen name. Some authors come up
with pen names to hide who they really are, to keep their gender a secret, or to publish more books
with different names. George Orwell. Does that sound familiar. He was the author of the famous
books Animals Farms. According to E. Bennett, Eric Blair, the real author, only wanted to use a pen
name so his family wouldn t be embarrassed of his work (Source 1) Keeping his real name and
identity a secret would let people read his work but, nobody would know who he actually is. Another
author who did this is C. S. Lewis. He used the name Clive Hamilton to write his books. He was
concerned about his status as a professor at Oxford, he used the name Clive Hamilton to publish a
collection of poems (Source 1). He didn t want people at his university to know who he was so he

Many girls used what sounded like boys names so they would sell more copies of books. A few
examples of women that did this were J. K. Rowling. She was the author of the Harry Potter series.
According to source one, Rowling s publishers feared that young boys the presumed audience of the
Harry Potter series wouldn t take the book seriously if they knew it was written by a woman. Another
example of this is Jane Eyre. Victorian culture discouraged women from having literary aspirations.

Campus Sexual Assault And Rape
ACKNOWLEDGMENT
I would like to send my appreciation and gratitude to David La Rooy, who has supported my journey
in making this dissertation possible to do. I would like to give thanks to all the students who have
participated in this dissertation.
ABSTRACT
The aim of this dissertation is to observe whether female or male students have a similar or different
perspective of the meaning of consent in a sexual context; specifically, on the subject of campus
sexual assault.
INTRODUCTION
In the United States (U.S.), sexual assault on campuses remains to make national headlines, and now
this problem is increasing and occurring in the United Kingdom (U.K.). The term sexual assault varies

Those who are closest to the victims should help the victim on their path of recovery. Although, the
supports from those closest to the victims may play a positive role in the recovery process; however,
some people may feel to withdraw or partly blame the victim for getting raped or sexually assaulted

EXPLAINING SEXUAL ASSAULT AND RAPE
As reported by, feminist criminologists, their perspective of rape and sexual assault differ from liberal
and radical feminists. Liberal feminists viewpoint in regards of rape as a gender neutral assault on a
persons autonomy and mainly focusing on the harm that rape can do to an individual. In contrast,
radical feminists describe rape as a subject to be recognised and understood as a major pillar of
patriarchy; a social system in which men claim the positions of dominance and control of the central
norms and values that are linked with masculinity (Johnson, 2005: p.

A Reflection On Being Stereotyped In Nursing
Reflection on being stereotyped I have loved the nursing profession since childhood, and if I wanted
something more in my life in terms of career, it was to help people around me on different ways. At
that time I had no idea how my future will look like. Therefore, when me and my family decided to
emigrate in the U.S. I had in my mind the idea to continue my career. After all the tests that I supposed
to take, I got finally my RN license and I start looking for a place to work. I must to say that wasn t so
easy, because even if I sent a lot of resumes to different facilities, I was hardly called to an interview,
or I had a few telephone interviews. After few weeks of waiting, I finally got a phone call from one
nursing home in the area, and after a few questions, the person who contacted me invited me to an
interview. When I arrived at the facility, the DON was waiting for me and she had my resume in front
of her, on her desk. She asked me a lot of questions about my background, my experience as a nurse,
and what are my expectation in this job. I worked in Romania almost 14 years as a nurse and in my
opinion I can adapt myself ease to the new conditions. I was surprised that after all the time I spent in
her office, the DON told me she was impressed by me, but she can not give me the job because I do
not have American experience. It was not the first time when I heard this phrase, but I felt like I had
no value, that all the work I have done to get the RN license was in vain. I felt that all the sky was
falling over me because in this case, without the American experience, I had no chance to find a job in
the field I loved so much. Generally speaking, I am a silent person and often quit the fight at the first
hurdle. But in this situation, I chose to continue fighting, because I considered the DON s answer to be
a stereotype. She considered that if I did not do American school I do not have the necessary
knowledge to work in a nursing home. I understood that she didn t know anything about my country
and what kind of school I did to become a nurse, but little by little, after all I told her about my job in
Romania, which were my responsibilities there, I asked her to give me a chance, to offer me the job

Occupational Therapy, Health and Wellbeing
The occupational therapy perspective of occupation, health and wellbeing
To be able to participate in one s own life, to do the things we want to do, and to competently perform
the activities that form part of our daily, weekly or monthly routines, is a common goal for most
people. This not only includes taking part in the basic activities of self care, such as grooming and
dressing, but also extends to our work and leisure activities. It is through doing things that we learn
and develop as human beings. The occupational therapy profession believes that being prevented or
hindered in some way from participating in the activities that are important to us could adversely
affect our health and wellbeing.
Health is a complex term ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of occupational balance can also be seen in older adulthood when, as a result of age, people
lose their roles in life through being unable to perform the activities that make up that role. With the
passing of time no longer taken up by meaningful activities these individuals become bored and
ultimately depressed, quickly losing their sense of well being. In the World Health Organisation s
Charter for Health Promotion, it suggests that in order to achieve the state of complete health it
describes in its definition, it is necessary for individuals to be able to satisfy their basic needs, realise
and achieve their goals, and cope within the changing world around them (Townsend and Polatajko,
2007).
Since these things are achieved through occupation, through doing things, the close link between
health and occupation becomes clear (Wilcock, 2001). From an occupational perspective, doing things
provides a sense of purpose and fulfilment and leads to a sense of well being (Crepeau et al, 2009).
This link between occupation, health and well being (i.e. the fact that people are occupational by
nature and that engagement in meaningful occupation is essential to health) forms part of the core
beliefs and values the philosophy of the occupational therapy (OT) profession (Kramer et al, 2003).
OT has its foundations in both philosophy and science, but unlike other medical professions, it was the
philosophy that came first

Corporal Punishment In Schools Essay
Corporal Punishment: Corporal punishment also known as physical punishment surprisingly still

Southern states are using corporal punishment to have good order in their schools. Students are

Transportation of the Civil War Before the Civil War there were things that the North and the South
needed to use to move things around the place. There are two things that were most important. The
train that was the most important was the R.R locomotive and the man that made that was Richard
Trevithick. They moved the steal and other things on the rail and the R.R was used in the North more
than the South. They also used boats. Since they did not have steam boats, they used row boats. The
guy that made the steam boats was John Fitch. They used the steam boats to carry cotton up and down

There was so many things that the South had that the North did not have. There was so many thing to

was going to make it here. They all needed to make it place so someone in the South would use the
steam boat to where they need to go and if they can t make it that far they would have getting the train

Today, the ice cream industry has been developed mainly in the United States (Arbuckle, 2013). As a
frozen product, ice cream is often related to environmental issue. As Gwanpua (2015) points out that
refrigeration system is likely to generate impact on global warming (Gwanpua, 2015). Ben Jerry s is

In contrast, the citizenship emphasizes people s social and ecological responsibility. Consumers are
supposed to be concerned with the environmental sustainability when they are consuming.
To begin with, Ben Jerry s focuses more on their sourcing than the ecological sustainability. The
company feels honored that the ingredients of their ice creams are from across the country. For
instance, they emphasize that the nuts in Rainforest Crunch ice cream are supplied from native
peoples of the Amazon (Mirvis, 1994). Only five percent of the nuts are from local farms (Murray,
2015). Peaches are purchased from a Georgia peach growers co operative, cherries are from Pacific
Northwest and wild blueberries are from Native American tribes in Maine (Mirvis, 1994). The
chocolate brownies used in ice cream sandwiches are shipped from Greystone Bakeries, a small
business run by Buddhist monks. However, Freeman (2010) suggests that eating more local and
organic food is a more environmentally efficient way to achieve the sustainability of nature (Freeman,
2010). Henderson (2009) also indicates that discouraging the wasteful long distance transportation of
food supplies and favoring local farming communities contribute to environmental protection
(Henderson, 2009). After all, long distance and processed foods are connected to unsustainable cereal

What Caused The American Civil War Essay
The American Civil War was a war fought within the United States of America between the North
(Union) and the South (Confederacy) The war was one of the most critical events in American history.
It is estimated that 623,000 soldiers died during the Civil War (Garrison) starting from 1861 and
ending in 1865. While many still debate the ultimate causes of the Civil War, author James McPherson
writes that, The Civil War started because of uncompromising differences between the free and slave
states over the power of the national government to prohibit slavery in the territories that had not yet
become states. When Abraham Lincoln won election in 1860 as the first Republican president on a
platform pledging to keep slavery out of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Northerners opposed to versus the South who were States were the only regions in the world that
still legalized the ownership of slaves. This angered the Southerners and threatened their way of life.
The election of Abraham Lincoln as the sixteenth president of the united states in November of 1860
set the stage for division, secession, and civil war (Stokesbury 3) the South felt threatened when it
came to slavery.
There were also economic differences between both regions. The Southern states were agrarian states,
which depended on agriculture rather than industrialization. Slavery was essential to the South s
agrarian economic system, dedicated to producing raw materials for manufacture by others. (Axelrod
15) After the Cotton Gin was invented, it increased the need for slaves and made cotton the chief crop
of the South. The South was able to produce 7/8 of the world s supply of cotton. (Axelrod 15) This
made the South s dependence on the plantation system slavery. By then, the North was growing
industrially. The north feared that South s slave based economy might affect their economy. The North
depended on factories and other industrialized businesses. As for this reason many of new immigrants
settled north, while few settled south. This allowed the North to grow industrially, while making the
South feel more threatened by them. The Confederacy opposed any kind of industrialization and
manufactured as little as possible. Southern

Her IEP goal states that she will ...underline and circle key numbers, then write an equation and solve
each problem... The learning goal aligns with this IEP goal because it has her master a strategy that

then shown how she can apply that to the word problem. This moves her toward the achievement of
her IEP goal because she can develop the strategy first but then see how it is used when solving word
problems. The learning tasks move the focus learner toward the achievement of standards because the
focus learner will first learn a strategy that she can use to visualize fraction models or equations, by
going through and identifying what she knows and what she needs to find out, then making a picture
to represent the equation, which is exactly what the specific standard is asking the student to do. The
learning tasks help move the focus learner towards the achievement of the learning goal because the
focus learner will be getting plenty of practice first developing the STAR strategy, but then putting the
strategy into context and solving fraction word problems. In lesson 3, the focus learner will be given

The War of 1812
In this essay I will be discussing the major events and battles that took place during the War of 1812.
It started in 1812 and lasted until the spring of 1815. There were three main causes for the war taking
place, America trading with parts of Europe(France), the Impressment, and the possible desire on the
part of the United States to annex Canada, The War of 1812 ended as a stalemate in the spring of
1815. The War of 1812 was a war that never should have been fought.

America hated this because the British were literally taking american people and making them fight
for someone else.
Why did America want to annex Canada
America wanted to annex Canada because it had a lot of resources that America would have loved to
get there hands on the great amount of resources that America could have used. America also wanted
to annex canada because it would have been a huge amount of territory gain for america and it would
have made America a super country, it would have been a metaphorical spit in the face to Great
Britain.
How did the war end?
The war of 1812 ended as a stalemate in 1814 when the downfall of Napoleon allowed the British to
distribute more military resources to the war, Washington D.C., fell to the British in August. While In
Washington, British troops burned the White House down, and other buildings in retaliation for the
earlier burning of government buildings in Canada by the US soldiers. The British soon retreated, and

The Orion Skyquest Series
The Orion SkyQuest series is one of the most distinguished brands when it comes to reflector
telescopes. While all the reflectors in this range are highly durable, they are also quite well marked for
an undeniable value. A dobsonian is a telescope that uses the Newtonian style of bouncing rays of
light back into the scope from the tube. The mirror s width allows for varying amounts of photons
depending on the telescope. The wider the mirror the more luminous the image. Newton was able to
create a reflecting telescope that was much more powerful than the small tube used by Galileo, and
this resulted in a revolution in telescope construction adhered to by Orion SkyQuest today. Here is a

The term MSE can be used broadly to encompass any environmental intervention that promotes

the effectiveness of MSE interventions for individuals with dementia consisting of three sessions

Approaching Instruction With Clear Instructional Goals,
Approaching instruction with clear instructional goals, or to borrow a phrase popularized by Stephen
Covey, beginning with the end in mind, not only makes intuitive sense but is well supported by
research. In his 35 years of meta analysis on research in education, Robert Marzano (2003) identifies a
guaranteed and viable curriculum as one of 11 factors with a proven track record of increasing student
achievement. Marzano (2003) defines a guaranteed and viable curriculum as one in which

State standards alone do not constitute a guaranteed and viable curriculum. State standards documents
typically include
Too many standards: Cynthia Schmeiser, president and chief operating officer of ACT s education
division, commented on the problem of state curricula that include too many standards. She said
State learning standards are often too wide and not deep enough. [High school teachers] are trying to
cover too much ground more ground than colleges deem necessary in the limited time they have with
students. (Olson, 2007, p. 20) 2. Standards that are not of equal importance: ACT s 2005 06 National
Curriculum study showed that college instructors largely disapproved of their state s academic content
standards. Two thirds of those who responded said their state standards prepared students poorly or
very poorly for college level work. High school teachers, on the other hand, felt differently, with a
majority responding that their state standards prepared students well or very well for college level
work (Marklein, 2007). Not all state standards are of equal importance, and what students get tested
on may not be what is most important. 3. Standards that lack unidimensionality: Marzano cites the
following 5th grade benchmark from the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics: Develop
fluency in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers (p. 15).

The Doctrine Of Predestination
The Doctrine of Predestination is one potential answer to the question of how individuals come to a
saving faith in Christ. Although he did not invent the Doctrine of Predestination, John Calvin has often
been considered its figurehead since the Reformation. This doctrine is defined as the divine decree
according to which certain persons are infallibly guided to eternal salvation. On the other side of the
argument is Arminianism. This view states the Christ died for all of humanity rather than just an elect
percentage. The Arminianist argument states that God s divine sovereignty is compatible with the free
will of humanity. C.S. Lewis argued for and defended the Arminian view. Both sides can present
biblical passages to support their arguments. The fact that the Bible is inconclusive on the matter is
ultimately the source of this dispute. While either Calvin or Lewis could be correct, the truth is likely
an amalgamation of the two.
Although the Bible is ambiguous on the topic of predestination versus free will, one will find a case
for the Doctrine of Predestination in the scriptures. In the Bible, God uses individuals and people
groups to fulfill plans for the world. Noah, for example, was chosen to survive the flood and continue
humanity. God called Abraham from Ur to father the Nation of Israel, God s chosen people in His plan
to redeem creation. In Jeremiah 1:5, the case for predestination is particularly strong when God spoke
to Jeremiah, telling him, before I

Why Is Leonardo Da Vinci Considered An Honorable Man
In the dictionary honor is defined as high respect or esteem. I believe that honor is doing something
that helps other people even though it may not benefit them. Leonardo da Vinci was a very honorable
man. He was honorable because his work was truly ground breaking and helped many people but he
did not receive any prestigious awards because in his time they did not have awards for scientific
discoveries. He brought us out of the dark ages and gave us a head start on where we are today. He
was the first person to ever actually start asking questions instead of just following the crowd (

Role of the Witches in Macbeth
Macbeth is a play about morals and how people can be easily influenced. The audience at the time
when the play was written were more superstitious than we are. They believed in witches and thought
that they were the devils disciples. They were believed to be able to control the weather, blamed many
things, such as outbreaks of disease on them.
The first people to meet the Witches are Banquo and Macbeth. They find the witches appearance is
vile. We can see this as Banquo says that (they) look not like the inhabitants of the earth. This shows
us that the witches are obviously strange, and probably misshapen in their appearance. Banquo also
says that (they) should be women, and yet (their) beards forbid me to interpret, that (they) are ... Show

the witches never say anything to Macbeth about murder; it is entirely his own idea. The murder of
Banquo is another example. The witches prophecies to Macbeth and Banquo plant the seed of thought
in Macbeth s mind Thou shalt get (father) kings. When Macbeth becomes king, he sees this as a threat
to his kingship and attempts to murder Banquo s son, Fleance. Although this fails, Banquo is killed.
Macbeth is greatly influenced by the witches at their second meeting, and takes everything that they
say literally. Their first warning to Macbeth is that he should be wary of Macduff beware Macduff. In
response to this, Macbeth ruthlessly murders Macduff s family. The warning is the seed, but Macbeth
thinks the rest for himself. The second warning tells Macbeth that he can be harmed by any man of
woman born. Macbeth takes this literally and says before the battle What s the boy Malcolm? Was he
not of woman born? However, we learn later a few scenes later that Macbeth has taken this too
literally and that it means natural. We also learn that Macduff was not naturally born and so can harm
Macbeth.
So what really is the role of the witches in Macbeth? I think that their role is to give Macbeth a
thought that they know he will try and expand on. The perfect example is foretelling his ascension to
the throne. They tell him he will become king but they don t tell him how. He just assumes he has to

The True Meaning Of The Gospel Of God
Around the world and throughout all the different versions of Christianity, there are so many things
that people call the gospel . Some say it is the only way to get to Heaven, or that it is a doctrine of
damnation that God sent us to right our wrongs. Ravi Zacharias stated in a video sermon what he
thinks that the gospel has become when he says, It became I think cheapened and somehow diluted if
not polluted and so an average person who view what is the gospel they say it is the same old thing,
you re a sinner and you re heading to hell... (Zacharias). Most individuals in today s time do not know
what God s true love is or what the real meaning of the gospel is truly because of the situations they
have been in during their lives and what society has made it out to be. According to Webster s
Dictionary the definition of the word gospel is, The message concerning Christ, the kingdom of God,
and salvation, (Webstersdictionary.com). Though this is a technical definition, the Gospel of God is so
much more than just teachings. The Gospel can help those who have never met God, since it is the
good news that should be preached to everyone, it is how believers go and make more disciples
throughout the world, and through it is a way for everyone to connect with God on a personal and
spiritual level.

Unfortunately, that is what happened with the African Americans during the reconstruction of the
south and the Jews in Hitler s Germany. Those who are supposed to help all of the nation and be fair
and just were not and turned against them. It was hard. The people suffered in many ways. There were
unjust politics, terror groups, rights were taken, and fallacies spread against them. What is worse is
that this kind of treatment happens throughout history and even today too so many groups. It is
important to understand how to recognize this and bring it to an end. Sadly, politics is a very sticky
topic no matter which way it is thrown. Not everyone can be pleased, however, that is not an excuse to
enslave, or dominate an entire race. This is what the South did after the war. Once the emancipation
proclamation was released the southern government worked to find loopholes to continue working the
African Americans community like they did before. The government created the Jim Crow laws in
retaliation to the Civil Rights Act of 1875. (Reconstruction from the African American Perspective,
pp12.) The act was there to make sure that all citizens were equally represented in the eyes of the law.
There is one big problem with their plan to keep dominance, they were outnumbered. (Reconstruction
from the African American Perspective, pp7.) The South eventually had to allow the

Mark Twain Analysis
Education may be conveyed in many formats, such as classrooms, laboratories, and books. Teachers
instruct within the classroom, while researchers and scientist utilize a laboratory setting for instruction
and education, while other forms of education derive from authors who communicate by the written
word. One well known author and educator is Samuel L. Clemens, more commonly known as Mark
Twain. Twain was born in Florida, Missouri on November 30, 1835 and utilized his childhood and
adolescent experiences as a method of education. Mark Twain is powerfully depicted as an
unconventional educator through his books, literature, and personal quotes.
Through some of Mark Twain s books he captures much of the history in which he lived. One of the
books that he has written is The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, which is based upon his memories from
when he lived in Missouri (Twain, 1876). The adventures that he wrote about in this particular book
actually took place in history, giving us an insight into what it was like to live in that time period.
Another book that gave several details on the history in the 19th century was The Prince and the
Pauper, because instead of giving insight on a personal experience, it gave insight on the class
relations in which people were separated during that time (Twain, 1881). This insight gave us
knowledge on how the people were categorized by their job titles. He shows the differences between
the classes by writing about two young boys that switch

  • 3. Critical Issues Paper Of Testing Equality Critical Issues Paper of Testing Equality Megan Randle University of North Texas The diagnosis of students of autism brings long term effects that can increase the functionality of the child s life. As we know, early diagnosis is key producing long term effects whenever families and parents are diligent in getting their children help. Throughout the diagnosis process, it is imperative to take every element into account. Considerations such as race, culture, and socioeconomic status may affect the validity and reliability of the test. Although the test can be administered exactly as it should be, there are many different characteristics of the child in their upbringing that can affect the outcome of the results. Whether a diagnosis of autism, or diagnosis of another disability is to be made, interventions can be developed to add the child s tool belt on their waist of life. Research shows that the early intervention can highly impact the likelihood of success (Krader, 2014). The American Academy of pediatric tells us that the diagnosis procedure should start in children between 18 and 24 months. With the essential screening process, recommendations can be used to begin intervention and start the help that the child needs. As we have seen through research, not all children receive testing that proves equality (Krader, 2014). Beginning diagnosis and testing process can be very intimidating to the parents, especially if this is their first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Government of Lao PDR and Ethnic Minorities Since the end of the Cold War, the government of Lao PDR (GoL) promoted internal resettlement of indigenous ethnic minorities from remote highlands to lowland areas and along roads as an effort to make the delivery of government services such as health care and education more cost efficient. Though the government considers resettlement a voluntary choice on the part of the village, the government implements incentives for villages to resettle such as healthcare and disincentives for villages to remain in the highland such as destruction of agriculture as an attempt to encourage resettlement. But, internal resettlement had a devastating impact on the health of the relocated minorities and the healthcare promised by the government was inadequate and in some places nonexistent. To promote rural development, the Lao PDR government incentivized the resettlement of ethnic minorities from the mountainous highlands to the lowlands as a way of improving the minority s access to health care, but suppressed immune systems suppressed from malnutrition and exposure to malaria ultimately increased mortality among those who resettled. As a strategy for rural development, the government of Lao PDR encouraged the resettlement of villages with the idea that the resettlement would allow the government to provide services more cost effectively than traveling to the mountainous communities as had been done in the past. • 7. Analysis Of The City Of God #2 Mr. Knerr HWC 4 16 November, 2017 The City of God in God s Country? Every human is called to own two identities. The people of Rome, known to have had their feet planted firmly in materialism and worldly pleasure, believed their empire fell due to the punishment of their gods upon the converted/increasingly Christian nation. Augustine, a bishop of Hippo, recorded his thoughts into his book The City of God to answer questions the Romans, including Christians, had been asking about the momentous fall of the Roman Empire. Orosius, Augustine s pupil, contrasted with his teacher on certain viewpoints of the City of God and the City of Man. While Augustine believes that the City of God is misrepresented on Earth, Orosius believes that God chooses certain nations to represent Him in the City of Man. The work of Augustine and Orosius provide proper context for the dual citizen by recognizing failure in representation, understanding the meaning of being chosen , and realizing the true meaning of a dual citizen in the City of God and City of Man. Augustine s belief that prosperous earthly cities such as the United States and Rome are not like the City of God supports an accurate illustration of a proper Christian understanding of dual citizenship . The United States is not an example of the City of God because of its lack of upholding Christian values. I plan for my students and I to be a big family , and it will still be a learning environment. While I am teaching a lesson I would like for my students to be quite when they should be listening and participating when it is time for them to participate. I am there to guide their learning, the students will be allowed to share, correct, and exchange information when the time is appropriate. I will have the traditional teaching style which is the students paying attention to the teacher, then once the students seem to understand the content they will then be able to move around and interact with other student in either group discussions or at the learning centers throughout the classroom. My classroom will be nice and bright to keep up the positive energy, and it will still be conducted as a learning environment for my students, and they will understand that everything that they learn in my classroom will travel with them till they are old, and they will be able to understand why they are in school and what their purpose is in life.  Assumptions about the Nature of Young People and Learning Every young person wants to satisfy their basic needs which usually tends to be power, love, freedom and fun. • 10. Moral Distress And Avoidance Behavior In the article ¨Moral Distress And Avoidance Behavior In Nurses Working In Critical Care And Noncritical Care Units, by Mary Jo De Villers, she states ¨it has been predicted that there will be a shortage of 500,000 nurses in the United States by 2025.¨ This counts for the United States alone. Many articles state that more and more research is being done on moral distress relating to nurses all around. This leaves researchers wondering, could this be the main reason for the shortage of nurses? Moral distress comes into play dramatically with specific nurses such as pediatric intensive care, neonatal intensive care, and intensive care unit. Many of the nurses have to deal with life or death situations on a daily basis working in those units. Dealing with that dilemma daily makes it harder for this medical staff to go back to the hospital. All nurses deal with some kind of moral distress, but critical care nurses suffer from a more intense level of distress. There are many factors that play into the shortage of nurses. In Anthony Tuckett s study, he discovers reasons why nurses are leaving the profession. In attempt to understand, he interviewed nurses and asked for their opinion on the lack of physicians assistant. Overall, Tuckett concluded that the primary reasons for this are no manager support, co worker support, and the fact that business policies are put before caring for the patient (364). My Personal Classroom Management Philosophy A classroom philosophy is fundamental for an effective educator, for not only does it set up one s classroom but it also sets up the type of teacher that one wants to be. A classroom philosophy dictates everything from discipline to the way one presents information. It is the driving force in a teacher s classroom and is often times directly related as to why that teacher wants to teach. Due to its importance, it is critical to examine a multitude of different philosophies before crafting one s own. After a semester of examining a variety of different classroom management philosophies, I personally have development my own philosophy as to how I wish to run my classroom. For my classroom philosophy I have drawn methods from three classroom management gurus, however, it is rooted in two simple ideals. My personal classroom management philosophy is that it is the teacher s responsibility to create a classroom that prepares students for the real world and promotes a love of learning and curiosity. There are several reasons as to why my main focuses are on having my classroom prepare students for the real world and to promote a love of learning, these reasons can be found through the philosophies in which have inspired this view. The Positives Of Colonialism World Issues: Personal Opinion Essay The Positives of Colonialism: Colonialism has been portrayed as leaving negative impacts on countries, however many do not take into consideration the positives effects of colonization. The people of Africa established a mainstream religion to follow (Christianity), including new laws and a new political system. Countries bonded with one another and signed agreements to prevent conflict between countries. It has benefited many people that were illiterate; schools and education were given importance by the British, whether it was education in India or Africa all of them were given universal education. Colonization has brought many benefits to countries like Africa, Pakistan and India. Each country was given the opportunity to shape themselves, to be able to stand up on their own with British aid. Colonialism moulded the countries to what they are, and in return the British requested much less than the countries it supported. With the help of the British, countries managed to stabilize their justice systems, boost their economy, and introduce a new religion. People misunderstood the British because of the power they had and assumed that if they were to take over their land, they would lose all control over their country. A Reflection On Being Stereotyped In Nursing Reflection on being stereotyped I have loved the nursing profession since childhood, and if I wanted something more in my life in terms of career, it was to help people around me on different ways. At that time I had no idea how my future will look like. Therefore, when me and my family decided to emigrate in the U.S. I had in my mind the idea to continue my career. After all the tests that I supposed to take, I got finally my RN license and I start looking for a place to work. I must to say that wasn t so easy, because even if I sent a lot of resumes to different facilities, I was hardly called to an interview, or I had a few telephone interviews. After few weeks of waiting, I finally got a phone call from one nursing home in the area, and after a few questions, the person who contacted me invited me to an interview. When I arrived at the facility, the DON was waiting for me and she had my resume in front of her, on her desk. She asked me a lot of questions about my background, my experience as a nurse, and what are my expectation in this job. I worked in Romania almost 14 years as a nurse and in my opinion I can adapt myself ease to the new conditions. I was surprised that after all the time I spent in her office, the DON told me she was impressed by me, but she can not give me the job because I do not have American experience. It was not the first time when I heard this phrase, but I felt like I had no value, that all the work I have done to get the RN license was in vain. I felt that all the sky was falling over me because in this case, without the American experience, I had no chance to find a job in the field I loved so much. Generally speaking, I am a silent person and often quit the fight at the first hurdle. But in this situation, I chose to continue fighting, because I considered the DON s answer to be a stereotype. She considered that if I did not do American school I do not have the necessary knowledge to work in a nursing home. I understood that she didn t know anything about my country and what kind of school I did to become a nurse, but little by little, after all I told her about my job in Romania, which were my responsibilities there, I asked her to give me a chance, to offer me the job ... This not only includes taking part in the basic activities of self care, such as grooming and dressing, but also extends to our work and leisure activities. The idea of occupational balance can also be seen in older adulthood when, as a result of age, people lose their roles in life through being unable to perform the activities that make up that role. With the passing of time no longer taken up by meaningful activities these individuals become bored and ultimately depressed, quickly losing their sense of well being. In the World Health Organisation s Charter for Health Promotion, it suggests that in order to achieve the state of complete health it describes in its definition, it is necessary for individuals to be able to satisfy their basic needs, realise and achieve their goals, and cope within the changing world around them (Townsend and Polatajko, 2007). Since these things are achieved through occupation, through doing things, the close link between health and occupation becomes clear (Wilcock, 2001). From an occupational perspective, doing things provides a sense of purpose and fulfilment and leads to a sense of well being (Crepeau et al, 2009). This link between occupation, health and well being (i.e. the fact that people are occupational by nature and that engagement in meaningful occupation is essential to health) forms part of the core beliefs and values the philosophy of the occupational therapy (OT) profession (Kramer et al, 2003). What Caused The American Civil War Essay The American Civil War was a war fought within the United States of America between the North (Union) and the South (Confederacy) The war was one of the most critical events in American history. It is estimated that 623,000 soldiers died during the Civil War (Garrison) starting from 1861 and ending in 1865. While many still debate the ultimate causes of the Civil War, author James McPherson writes that, The Civil War started because of uncompromising differences between the free and slave states over the power of the national government to prohibit slavery in the territories that had not yet become states. There were also economic differences between both regions. The Southern states were agrarian states, which depended on agriculture rather than industrialization. The north feared that South s slave based economy might affect their economy. The North depended on factories and other industrialized businesses. • 36. The Doctrine Of Predestination The Doctrine of Predestination is one potential answer to the question of how individuals come to a saving faith in Christ. Although he did not invent the Doctrine of Predestination, John Calvin has often been considered its figurehead since the Reformation. This doctrine is defined as the divine decree according to which certain persons are infallibly guided to eternal salvation. On the other side of the argument is Arminianism. This view states the Christ died for all of humanity rather than just an elect percentage. The Arminianist argument states that God s divine sovereignty is compatible with the free will of humanity. C.S. Lewis argued for and defended the Arminian view. Both sides can present biblical passages to support their arguments. The fact that the Bible is inconclusive on the matter is ultimately the source of this dispute. While either Calvin or Lewis could be correct, the truth is likely an amalgamation of the two. Although the Bible is ambiguous on the topic of predestination versus free will, one will find a case for the Doctrine of Predestination in the scriptures. In the Bible, God uses individuals and people groups to fulfill plans for the world. Noah, for example, was chosen to survive the flood and continue humanity.
