The United States Victory in the Battle of the Philippine...
Dubbed the largest battle between aircraft carriers, the World War two, Battle of the Philippine Sea
was also the most lopsided modern naval victory ever. Like shooting fish in a barrel or a sitting duck
the United States forces easily shot Japanese planes out of the sky and sunk their ships. The object of
the battle was control of the Mariana Islands. The Japanese who had initiated the fight with us were
strategically using the islands in the Philippine Sea as a defense for their homeland. The United States
however also had a vested interest in these islands as they would help us project our forces into
reaching distance of Japan. Though the Japanese had the upper hand in the Battle of the Philippines,
the United States was able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other side the leaders of the Japanese Imperial Navy were Fleet commander Vice Admiral
Ozawa and Admiral Toyoda the commander in chief of the Japanese combined fleet.
Before fighting had even ensued our advantage in equipment and resources was evident. As quickly
had the Japanese Commander given his orders we knew what their move was because we had
decrypted all of their codes following Pearl Harbor. We also had a foot up on their location and
advancements because of our strategic placement of submarines. Americans soon learned the fleet s
location, and their submarines converged upon the area in such numbers that Ozawa dared not leave
port for maneuvers. His Aviators, who had been sent to the carriers with minimum basic training,
ceased training all together. This also contributed greatly to the lack of training Japanese soldiers
received.
In order to capture the Marianas islands the first order of business was to eliminate the Japanese land
advantage. Beginning on 23 February 1944, Mitscher s carrier aircraft repeatedly attacked Japanese air
bases in the Marianas [islands] virtually wiping out Japanese [land based] airpower. With this the
United States now held a definite advantage in manpower with 15 American flattops squaring off
against 9 Japanese carriers. Aboard Vice Adm. Marc Mitscher s carriers were 905 airplanes, opposing

Snowball Earth Research Paper
Ice ages are well documented in Earth s history, and they are proven to be relatively frequent. But
what if that ice age persisted over not just regions near the poles, but around the equator as well? The
term snowball Earth refers to a condition where Earth is completely covered by ice. Evidence
indicates that snowball Earth may have been around in the Neoproterozoic. In fact, evidence points to
the conclusion that these conditions happened three separate times in the Neoproterozoic. A snowball
Earth condition is hard to prove, but this theory may explain several different phenomena. However, it
is not accepted by all, there is evidence against a snowball Earth as well. Some believe that a snowball
Earth would not have been possible in past climate conditions while there are views that defend the
idea of more of a slushball Earth rather than a planet entirely frozen on the surface. Iridium ... Show

It was assumed that these carbon values were unaffected by the diagenesis since aqueous fluids
typically have an insignificant amount of carbon in comparison to carbonate rocks. In addition,
stratigraphic mapping showed that there was no tectonic activity in this area that would have affected
diagenesis either. Results indicated that the proportion of organic carbon to total carbon burial
changed from roughly 0.5 before the glacial deposits to virtually 0 immediately after. [Hoffman et al.,

might explain why. Oceanic photosynthetic bacteria and eukaryotes would have been severely reduced

Sororities In The Odyssey

Educating The Youth In The Kite Runner
Why is it that you go to school as a child while you are young, rather than as a more mature adult?
Education is started at the age of three in most places because children are the future. The next
generation. That is why educating the youth is the most important task in achieving social injustice.
Educating the youth can be achieved in many different ways, one of them being through the teachers
in classrooms. In The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini, you see Assef bullying Hassan about how he
is a Hazara. Later Assef goes on to use the analogy of the Pashtuns being the Nazis, and says,

One day in school Scout was learning about Hitler and how he was such a bad person. Their teacher
explained that he had done all these bad things. Later, Scout overhears her teacher at the courthouse
speaking negatively about blacks. Scout being curious says to jem, Jem, how can you hate Hitler so
bad an then turn around and be ugly about folks right at home (283). Throughout the court case Scout
matures due to Atticus teachings and realizes the social injustice that occurs every day to the blacks in
their own town. Scout is the only student that we saw realize this, and it is because of Atticus. We see
this when Scout says, Ugly about folks right at home . When Scout says, Turn around it is Harper Lee
explaining to us how the townspeople are two faced. However, not Atticus. He sticks by his morals the
whole time. He took the Tom Robinson case, to teach his kids that there are social injustices, and they
need to be fixed.
In conclusion, the Education of children is the most vital way in gaining social justice and equality.
Education however, can be taught in many different ways including school, parents, and friends. When
children are taught about the injustices in society, they come to an understanding that things need to be
done and changes need to be

Singapore s Rapid Economic Development Essay
4 NEGATIVE IMPACT OF RAPID ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT 4.1 AGING POPULATION
Local and foreign labour are deemed essential to Singapore s workforce in order to sustain
competitiveness in economic development. However long standing past policy implication and current
policy taken by the Government to spur economic development, could be argued to affect the labour
market and SMEs in the long run. The past and current policies that might inflicted negative impact to
labour market and SMEs are elaborated as follow: 1) Curbing Singapore growing population during
early economic development is arguably the main factor leading to Singapore lower birth rate. This
argument has been supported by Asher (2008) saying Singapore has experienced below replacement ...

Supply of low skilled worker especially in non PMET market would be scarce especially for domestic
service industries driven by local SMEs. SMEs normally run with small capital would face tougher
business environment. SMEs would not be able to increase their productivity in a shorter time as they
could not leverage on technology. Eventually they would have to compromise their service levels
which in return force the consumers to adjust to uncertainty. The potential growth of SMEs industry
would be hampered which in return impede Singapore s economic growth. According to Dr Chua Hak
Bin, economist at Bank of Merrill Lynch, Singapore s tight foreign labour policy could cost the
economy 1.3% points of growth in 2014 which in the long run degrade Singapore s competitive
landscape with ailing domestic businesses. Besides dampening local business competitiveness, ageing
population and restricted foreign labour may lead to a lower level of innovation. As productivity
growth is associated with higher innovation and improving technology, reports from high income
OECD countries suggests that the median age of the population is negatively correlated with total
factor productivity (OECD, 2013). 4.2 BRAIN DRAIN Past policy of tailoring education to
manpower has contributed its fair share to Singapore s economic development. However,

to predict. At the same time the consumer is evolving with constant change in their choices.
Tea coffee are the favourite drinks in India though tea has ruled for quite sometime , but a quiet café
revolution is sweeping urban India with the explosion of coffee bars. Coffee bars unheard concept
until a few years ago, are suddenly big business. There is also rise in the consumption of coffee. In
India café coffee day and barista are most popular and well known café. These companies sell similar
products but their positioning and target audience are very different from each other. Despite of
serving to different audience, these players compete among themselves. Each player fights for its
share of market. They try to differentiate themselves by the way of product or price or promotion.
Café coffee day got a high rating in the market survey, for the quality and taste of their products. If
they work on this particular aspect, there is a huge potential for them to attract customers, simply

Spiritual autobiographies can be loosely defined as an individual s story about how God has interacted

their faith had been made stronger. It is hard to put Ghazalis book into one category, but spiritual

Ghazali doesn t ever specifically say that he has lost faith, even though it implies it at some parts he

Essay on What Classifies as Common Knowledge in Science...
Knowledge goes beyond the regurgitation or memorization of facts, and knowledge claims can either
be justified with experience or simply an understanding. Different areas of knowledge have different
methods to either build or falsify knowledge, as the method of justification differs between these areas
of knowledge. There are perspectives to support building facts around knowledge, while disagreeing
with the neglect of facts that were previously held as knowledge. These perspectives collectively
create opposition for the areas of knowledge, science and history. Both science and history are subject
to changes in knowledge for facts may sometimes be discarded, built upon, or distorted to prove an
opinion or theory. This does not necessarily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Science has set values that must be upheld in the process of developing knowledge and as long as
these values are maintained the facts will be accepted as knowledge.
In my life as a student, I encounter countless natural science theories that failed the test of time and
have either been improved or refuted. The most well known example of this is the atomic structure in
Chemistry. John Dalton developed the first atomic theory and postulated that all matter was composed
of atoms. He unfortunately believed that atoms of the same element were of all the same mass and
charge, which was later tested and disproved by the scientist Ernest Rutherford to later be built on by
Neils Bohr. These experiments have proven that due to conclusive evidence and constant criticism,
scientific principles are subject to change and may be discarded. In this case, depending on your
perception, John Dalton s theories may have been unnecessary or may continue coexist with those of
Bohr and Rutherford as he is known as the founding father of atomic structure. Learning about the
constant revision of scientific theories promotes open mindedness towards science and constant
inquiry. Using the scientific method, science is able to answer the question why, and with this explain
the nature of things, which creates much opposition with different ideologies. In the constant quest for
the truth, science is justified in redefining its pillars, which in this case is knowledge because

Section 15 Of The ECHR Essay
As opposed to the ACHR and the ICCPR, article 15 of the ECHR does not explicitly prohibit
derogations on the ground of sex, color and religious believes. The rationale among contracting states
is thus that discrimination is permitted to some extent in order to halt a terrorist attack. Those states
argue that it is a matter which pertains to a state s margin of appreciation. Accordingly, several states
have enacted counter terrorism laws which are discriminatory. In particular, the parliament of the
United Kingdom passed the Section 44 of the Terrorism Act in 2000. The act granted the Home

terrorism. Meanwhile, the stop and search powers were deemed illegal by the ECtHR. The Court
maintained that the act did not provide adequate legal safeguards for abuse and that Section 44 was
not sufficiently circumscribed Moreover, the Court acknowledged that the power to search in and of

Act violated the right to privacy under Article 8 of the Convention.
Several human rights scholars consider the judgment issued by the ECtHR in Gillan and Quinton v.

counter terrorism acts solely on the ground of religious believes, albeit the fact that it is not explicitly

Aimee Mllins Adversity Summary
Aimee Mullins is an accomplished paralympian athlete whose goal is to raise awareness in the world
of disability and adversity. From her speech, titled Adversity, she suggests that it isn t whether or not
you re going to meet adversity, but how you re going to meet it. This statement describes one of the
most influential points in her speech, and widely represents much of the message she is trying to
convey: that adversity is not so much a mountainous difficulty which is impossible to scale, but that it
is a challenge to face head on; a change which can and should be accepted. Through her use of strong
diction and syntax, she appeals to the audience with both strong emotion and a firm tone. She utilizes
mankind s ability to empathize to target an audience consisting of anyone who will listen, lieky
knowing that her showing of emotional and logical appeal will draw attention and cause a mass effect
in the audience, sparking a desire within the audience to understand the kinds of emotions she felt. All
in all, her constant reference to known facts in combination with her ability to entice the audience
gives Aimee Mullins an aura of professionalism and credibility.
Introducing her topic, Mullins demonstrates her argument with a word for word definition of disabled,
from a 1980 s thesaurus, which she believes perfectly represents how a vast number of people from
today s society view those with disability. To further support the idea, she pulls a far more recent

Analysis Of The Book Kamo No Chomei
Kamo No Chomei as opposed to Genji went out into seclusion on his own account, Genji was exiled

found in beauty, and beauty is found within the soul. Sometimes the way of civilization (worry about
reputation, ranking of social status, politics, love affairs, etc.) interferes in finding spiritual peace.
However, Genji was a man in love with beauty and the arts, but he was never at peace with himself.
He needed the company of other, specially the company of beautiful women. He might have appeared
self centered, selfish, and arrogant at first, but after reading Chomei s story, one can see the good side

Aging And The World Health Organization
INTRODUCTION Ageing has been described as the inevitable slow progressive impairment of
normal biological function resulting from cellular and structural changes in an organism. These
cellular and structural changes directly impact on the functioning of organs, systems and eventually
the organism as a whole (Burton 2007). The correlation between the biological time clock for ageing
and the calendar/chronological age differs among individuals. However, the World Health
Organization accepts 65 years as the chronological age that defines an elderly person (World Health
Organization 2014). According to the United Nations report on population ageing, one of the most
distinguishing demographic occurrences of the twentieth century is the fact that the world s elderly
population is growing at a faster rate than the rest of the population and is expected to continue
through the twenty first century. Over the last 50 years, the number of elderly persons is believed to
have tripled and a greater increase is expected over the next 50 years (Department of Economic and
Social Affairs United Nations 2002, pp. 1 34). New Zealand has not been left out of this trend with an
increasing proportion of elderly people and a decreasing proportion of children. The proportion of
New Zealanders aged 65 years and over has increased from 11 percent in 1991 to 13 percent in 2009
and is expected to be up to 21 percent by 2031 (Ministry of Social Development 2014a). In view of

This paper will discuss various aspects of standards research. First, it will select one of the working
groups in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) or Institute of Electrical and Electronics

justify the need of the IEEE 802 standard used in networking. Also, it will evaluate the three standard
organizations including IEEE, ISO, and ANSI to determine the most important for communication
technology. Finally, this paper will describe the author s position on the need for a Federal regulating

called IEEE 802 standards. Consequently, these standards help the industry by providing advantages
such as low product cost, interoperability, and easy to manage standards, divided into many parts.
Interestingly, these standard parts include everything from cabling to network standards. Of note,
these IEEE standards affect only Local Area Networks (LAN) and Metropolitan Area Networks

Alex In A Clockwork Orange
In Depth Character Analysis on Alex Besides the protagonist in A Clockwork Orange, who is Alex?
Many times we only look at main characters with an outsiders perspective. The characteristics of a
character are important, but the main characters are often made to be so much more in the inside by
the author. Most simply, from an outward perspective, who is Alex? What shaped Alex to be violent?
How might have other characters influenced him to be the leader of a gang? Where did Alex s actions
leave him and did Alex understand that where he was left was avoidable? And finally, in his actions,
good and bad, was there personal growth? These are all questions to explore while diving in to who
Alex is from the inside.
Most simply, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alex is eventually shown, although the hard way, that violence (and overall, evil) is not the way one
can live their life forever. After getting away with countless crimes, two of his droogs set him up. Alex
is rightfully taken into the hands of the police officers and put in prison for the killing of an innocent
woman. In this prison he is the first to be chosen and tested on with the Ludovico Technique, a
correctional technique for criminals. This technique was a two week process of torture. Insuring that
Alex couldn t move his body to interfere with the technique, two scientists had Alex put in a straight
jacket and strapped down with his eyes held open by metal clamps. The scientists gave him nausea
inducing liquid and would then play movies in front of him of crimes he had committed in the past,
beating men and women profusely and raping women. This technique was thought to retrain and
reform the criminal s brain. However, one of the more horrific movies was accompanied by classical
music, the only nonviolent enjoyment Alex ever connected to. QUOTE From then on Alex gagged at
the attempt to raise his fist to another person in the same way that he gagged at the sound of classical
music. The doctors though, deemed his treatment to be successful and sent him out into the world a
reformed man . Alex s violence resulted in treatment that then resulted to him not being able to

Secure Under Roman Rule, Sadducees were Influential in...
The Sadducees were a very influential group in Judaism, many being priests (Wenham and Walton
40). There was no worry to the Sadducees of losing their position because it was secure under Roman
rule (Wenham and Walton 41). Their beliefs were different from the Pharisees in that they did not
practice oral traditions, that is verbally telling the stories of the Scriptures. Even though they accepted
the Old Testament scriptures, they only practiced the beliefs that were in the Pentateuch, which is the
first five books from the Old Testament (Murphy 239; Wenham and Walton 42). Another underlying
belief the Sadducees had was their disbelief in resurrection as well as they did not believe in fate
(Evans 100; Wenham and Walton 42). Furthermore, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, they had the belief that God would only redeem the Essenes. This is shown in writings
of the Dead Sea Scrolls where it says Through an upright and humble attitude his sin may be covered,
and by humbling himself before all God s laws his flesh can be made clean. Only thus can he really
receive the purifying waters and be purged by the cleansing flow (Evans 250 251). The Essenes saw
that they were the only Jews who were acting upon the purity laws rightly, and therefore were the only
people whom God would redeem. In part of their law they state, only the pure may enter to take a
place in the congregation of the men of reputation (Evans 243). Prayer was very important to the
Essenes (Evans 239). This is shown through the many different types of prayers practiced such as
Festival, Mealtime, and Morning Prayers (Evans 239 241). Furthermore, songs of worship to God
were also very important to them.
During Jesus s time on earth, many people were expectant of a messiah who would be human, despite
what the Old Testament said about the messiah being divine. (Evans 308). Though this is not to say
that some people did expect a divine messiah, because many did, leading some to worship and
divinize their rulers (Evans 309 311). Furthermore, when people knew he was the Messiah, Jesus told
them not to tell anyone, as they had to find out for themselves (Mark 8:2 30; Thomson). This is
because he wanted them to realize this on their own. In Mark 8, right after

Women Have the Burden of Birth Control
Worrying about getting pregnant is a pain that everyone who is sexually active has to face, or should
face. The question is, who does that burden of worrying about getting pregnant fall on. As evidence
will show, women take most of the burden or responsibility when it comes to providing contraception
during sex. Women have more invested when it comes to sex due to the consequences that result from
failing to protect against pregnancy. Looking at the burden of contraception in four different ways, the
time involved, the cost of birth control, the physical side effects of contraception, and the effect due to
failure of contraception.

Some men and/or women have allergic reactions to the rubber used to make latex condoms
(Condoms).
Birth control is not 100% effective, it can fail just like any other form of contraception. Birth control
pills contain two hormones estrogen and progestin. The different types of birth control pills a woman
can take all have different amounts of each hormone. As a woman gets older her body s hormones that
it naturally produces will change causing the amount of each hormone that is needed to change,
because of the changing hormone levels, it can cause a women s birth control pills to be unreliable.
This increases the female s chance of getting pregnant. Also, if a female forgets to take an active pill
one day it can cause pregnancy to occur for up to seven days after a missed pill, if no back up method
is used (Detailed Patient Labeling Norgestmate And Ethinyl Estradiol Tablets USP 0.18 Mg/0.035 Mg,

any other form of contraception. Condoms can be put on wrong which weakens the condoms stability.
Condoms can also expire and if not kept in the right environments can go bad before the expiration
date. Also condoms can break relatively easily if used incorrectly.
Some people feel that it should be the female s responsibility to provide the contraception during sex
because females have more options then men do. Females can choose from birth control pills, the birth

Examples Of Hunger In Night By Elie Wiesel
Hunger made Elie and his father only closer, but everyone has to eat. The quote is after Elie and his
father ran more than 20 kilometers from Auschwitz to an abandoned village. Being hungry, thirsty,
and especially exhausted would be the only things a person would think if they had done the march
while hungry and thirsty. But Elie comes said that quote to prove the strength of the bond between him
and his father. Another time in which the prisoners marched was running to Gleiwitz. They stayed
there for three days with no food or water, the prisoners were moved into roofless cattle cars, almost
100 people in a car. The prisoners were handed the usual ration before getting on the train and ate
snow in order to quench their thirst. Many of the prisoners are all in a condition not fit enough to make
a march, but there was something pushing those people to keep on surviving. Elie had witnessed
another father and son in the group, however they did not have a bond like his. Starvation drives
people to their limits sometimes and cannot handle themselves. Meir was beating up his own father for
some crumbs of bread, meanwhile the father is pleading with his son to not kill him, Meir, my little
Meir! Don t you recognize me... you re killing your father... I have bread... for you too... for you too...
(Wiesel 101). Then, he searched his father s body just for the crumbs, however other prisoners jumped
on top of Meir, looking for the same miniscule crumbs. For Elie, he dreamed about soup and

American Legion Experience Essay
I have learned many lessons in my time that will help guide me through my life. However, I think one
experience that will definitely stick with me forever is attending Missouri Boys State. At Boys State,
our motto was, A Week To Change A Lifetime, and it truly was. We learned about integrity, honesty,
pride, and what it means to be in the American Legion. We also learned about the political system and
how our government works by making our own government. Boys State is a program run by the
American Legion. The American Legion is a group of veterans that still believe in the values of the
military. Boys State is a week where high school juniors from Missouri go to learn good values and

us in leadership positions in about 20 years. Jay Nixon is probably my most memorable speaker
because he had a lot of stories that talked about the lessons he learned in his life and his political
career.
Lastly, the best learning experience was the Law School where we learned the basics of law. During
this week, I learned all about the law and how it applies to each individual citizen. I learned all of the
basic vernacular and proceedings in a courtroom, along with an actual court case that we watched live.
During this time, I learned a lot that will always be of use to me whenever I need it to be.

Allocation Asset allocation is a portfolio management technique that is concerned with balancing
between income oriented and growth investments in a portfolio. This apportioning enables the
investor to capitalize on the risk/reward trade off between the various assets in the portfolio and gain
from both profits and growth. There are four basic steps to asset allocation; selecting which asset
categories to include in the portfolio (stocks, bonds, real estate, money market, financial derivatives or

Foreshadowing In Of Mice And Men
The deaths of Lennie Small and John Coffey were foreshadowed throughout both novella and film,
respectively. Lennie s death is foreshadowed by the death of Candy s dog. Candy s dog was old and
therefore suffering. Carlson, one of the migrant workers shoots the dog, directly through the head.
After the death of his dog, Candy becomes extremely lonely. He regrets letting Carlson shoot his dog
and wished that he had done it himself. Just like the dog, Lennie is also shot through the back of the
head. After Lennie kills Curley s wife, he follows George s orders and runs back to the Salinas River;
knowing that trouble would arise. George ends up shooting Lennie through he back of the head,

In the first chapter of Of Mice and Men , George discovers that Lennie had been keeping dead mice in
his pocket. Lennie insists on an unlikely story, that the mice were already dead when he found them.
This shows the audience that although Lennie does not mean to kill the mice, it keeps recurring
because he is completely unaware of his own strength. Later on in the story, Lennie kills one of Slim s
puppies. He was warned to be gentle and keep the pup with its mother but didn t listen. These scenes
keep building and building until the climax of the novella, when Lennie breaks the neck of Curley s
wife and kills her. During the film The Green Mile there is frequent foreshadowing of the powers that
John Coffey possesses. The first sign of John s magic is at the start of the film, when he is seen
holding the bodies of the two dead girls and crying. Although the magic is not clear at the time, the
audience is able to look back upon that scene and realise that John was trying to heal the two girls, not
hurt them. When John first gets to the Green Mile, Paul has an extremely painful UTI. John is able to
take Paul s UTI onto himself and regurgitate it out in the form of flies. This is the first obvious sign of
his magic. Later on in the book, John uses slightly more magic when Percy steps on Mr. Jingles the
mouse and kills him. John is able to reanimate the

The Oedipal Complex Literary Analysis
Many stories include a child who vies for their parent(s) attention. One being, Oedipus, by Sophocles,
where Oedipus rivals his father, who he believes is a stranger, to gain the attention of his wife/mother.
The idea of a child, mostly boys, trying to gain their parent(s) (who tend to be a mother more often
than a father) attention is known as The Oedipal Complex , created by Sigmund Freud. The Oedipal
Complex , is a theory of a developing of feelings a boy develops towards his mother. He then is
against his father, or another male figure with his mother, and has jealousy or anger towards the man.
Eventually the boy tries to rival the man for attention from his mother. The Oedipal Complex is very
prominent in the short story, The Rocking Horse Winner , written by DH Lawerence. One of the
protagonists, Paul, develops the idea in which he should raise money for his mother, since she
considers herself unlucky . The mother, Hester, believes she is unlucky because herself and her
husband work low income jobs which are unable to support their lavish tastes. Therefore, Paul is
introduced to horse racing by his gardener, Basset, who bids on who he believes will win the races.
Paul tells Basset who he wants to bid on, and Basset would go and put the bid down for Paul. One day
Paul was discussing his connection with his gardener with his Uncle Oscar. His Uncle Oscar took Paul
to his first race, they both bidded on Daffodil, who won the race, afterwards Uncle Oscar is included

Musical Analysis Of Cocaine
Well, I had used it a few times. I liked it as long as someone else was supplying it, like laying out lines
at a party, but not enough to spend my own money on it. In 1990 I took a job managing a motel at
three blocks north of 90th and Aurora, which people in recovery who live in that neighborhood,
jokingly refer to a, the corner of 90th and Crackistan. Having to deal with numerous crack heads that
came around the motel day in and day out left me eternally grateful that I got clean and sober in the
late 70, s before crack hit the streets. I saw the way it decimated the greenwood community every day
for a number of years.
The following excerpt is the last verse of the song Cocaine, that was a big hit for Eric Clapton in the
late 1980 s:.
If your thing is gone and you wanna ride on ... Cocaine
Don t forget the fact, that you can t get it back ...Cocaine
She don t lie, she don t lie, she don t lie ... Cocaine.

The number of methods that produce powdered cocaine and crack have a huge impact on how they are
delivered to the body. Because cocaine constricts the blood vessels that are absorbing it, snorting is a
relatively slow way to deliver it into the blood stream. Blood levels rise gradually and don t reach a
peak for about thirty minutes after snorting. In its crack form, the vapors inhaled deliver cocaine as
fast as injecting it with a needle would. The faster the rush occurs, the greater the risk of addiction or
overdose is. The rush and crash phenomenon can lead the cocaine user to keep taking additional doses
until blood levels accumulate to toxic levels. Ingesting cocaine is the least effective route of delivery .

Transhumanism Research Paper
Transhumanism, a movement for people who wish to try to surpass the natural limitation of the human
body, has been around since the dawn of the first cyborg movie. People have wished to have the
abilities that the robots show in the films for years, however, by ridding humans of their weaknesses
as a species, we will no longer be fully humans. It will be taken over by half robot parts that would
advance vision, smell, hearing, and touch. Humanity will be lost. The technology that is used in the
transhumanism culture is negatively stretching the limitations of a human s natural body and causing
society to have unrealistic notions that these limitations can be surpassed.
There are plenty of extreme members in the group that calls themselves transhumanists. Many mainly
just crave slight alterations for those who really need technology to correct those which are disabled,
such as faux legs for those who have lost their own or hearing aids so that the deaf can finally hear.

The ideals that the transhumanists are trying to reach is not possible to the extent that they want. To
reach the technology that they want, society must sacrifice the natural limitations and a part of their
humanity. By manipulating the unknown of the human s limitations, a multitude of issues could arise
from the mechanics used in genetic engineering, mind uploading, etc. Instead of pursuing just the
advancement of the human race, transhumanism wants to take it to the next level to where humans
will no longer be considered a pure human. Although a lot of the technology that has been made so far
can be useful to those who have disabilities and handicaps, if it is taken any further than what it
already has been, it could prove to be detrimental to the human body. Instead of trying to rid ourselves
of our limitations, we should instead embrace

Due to the fact the president of the Loquium Institute is out of town until Friday, the first act as

Trustees and Julia Smithe a board member and the only acting member of the development committee.
Davenport and Smithe are the only members of the Board of Trustees who are actively engaged in the

fundraising they will have information regarding how the organization operates and perhaps ideas on
how to best move forward with engaging the other board members to participate more in the

governing board, prepared to make personally significant commitments of time and fund (pg. 82). It is

the president wants to initiate.

I set an alarm for six in the morning, but typically Nathan s cries wake me up around four. Since he is
four months old now, he has a tendency to wake up due to his sleep cycle changing (Swanson, 2015).
A typical transition for babies his age is learning how to fall back asleep without me needing to hold
him, so I typically lie awake and stare at the ceiling until he calms back down and falls asleep. I fall in

Marketing Philosophy Essay
As a marketing professional, entrepreneur and teacher, I want to inspire students to master a broad
range of marketing concepts. I want to demonstrate how marketing is used to sell products and
services, persuade individuals and companies to change their behavior and to potentially change the
world.
I believe that the best way to learn is to have an interactive learning environment. In my classes, I will
present a concept for discussion and reinforce the concept with an in class group exercise and
homework assignment. I ask students to display name cards each class so I can call on them by name,
which helps foster a more personalized discussion.
I teach by example by drawing on case studies, articles, student s personal experiences as well as my
own and others. I want students to talk, to participate individually and in groups so they can learn
from each other while building on their ideas.
I kick off the semester with a case study on how databases, advertising, interactive or integrated
marketing can be used as a persuasion tool. I might ask students to research: Who was Jack O Dell
and how did he use marketing to change the world? This leads students on an internet hunt, a brief
paper and then an in class discussion within the context of the syllabus for that week.
If we are having a discussion on how to develop a database, students will interview each other in class

Brutus Was The Noblest Roman Of Them All
This was the noblest Roman of them all . This quote was said by Antony, one of the characters in the

believe Brutus was the noblest of them all because not only was he highly respected in the very
beginning of the play, but because he was honest in his thoughts and actions.
Brutus is considered the noblest of them all because of a few reasons. One of the reasons is that he
was very reluctant to kill Caesar. Brutus was the only person out of the group, which included,
Cassius, and Casca who did not envy Caesar. Brutus did not have a vendetta against Caesar. The only
reason why Brutus chose to aid in the murder of Julius Caesar was because he thought it was for the

limbs. Instead, he wanted to give Caesar a proper burial and wanted to make sure his body was like a
dish fit for the gods. (Act 2, Scene

The Thing Around Your Neck
The women show courage and intelligence even though they are culturally suppressed. Discuss. The
Thing Around Your Neck by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie highlights the often challenging lives of
Nigerian women living in Africa, but also abroad in the United States. It is however, not the
difficulties which Adichie is ultimately focusing on, but the courage and intelligence of women who
are able to make small victories , overcoming various attempts of cultural oppression. Adichie s
characters are subject to cultural suppression in several of the short stories. This is most pronounced in
The Arrangers of Marriage where Chinaza is forced by her husband to assimilate to her new
surroundings by ridding herself of all signs of being Nigerian, ... Show more content on

This includes the courage shown by the unnamed narrator in Cell One to stand up and cause damage
to her parent s windshield so they could not go and visit Nnamabia for a day, a little victory to the less
favored sibling. Likewise, Ukamaka, in The Shivering is courageous enough to apologise to Chinedu
and repair their friendship, whilst in The Arrangers of Marriage Chinaza returns to her husband.
Despite his various attempts to strip her of her cultural identity and not know[ing] him she returns and
opens herself to climb[ing] up to love . Perhaps true courage is most evident in A Private Experience
where a Hausa Muslim and Igbo Christian hide together in a store while outside their respective ethnic
groups are engaged hacking down...with machetes, clubbing...with stones . To risk the possibility of
being seen together, alongside the friendship they develop is a truly courageous act. Adichie therefore
demonstrates that ultimately human kindness trumps any religious lines, whilst the women are capable
of actions that put themselves in harm s way. Furthermore, the characters are intelligent and
determined. In Jumping Monkey Hill Ujunwa is well educated and a capable writer, invited to a
prestigious writing workshop. She is also intelligent enough to question Edward s sexual advanced
and proclaim that this

The Police Chief Placed A Picture Of The Serial Black Widow
The police chief placed a picture of the serial black widow murderer in front of me and my throat
constricted. They were scheduled to get married in less than a week and there was no evidence to take
convinces the bridegroom to call off the wedding let alone delay the nuptials. That old saying that it is
always the last person you would ever expect? Well, there was no way in hell did I see this one
coming. Of all the times to think about Tessa and how sad she had looked to tell me her parents had
received a job offer and she would have to move away. If it wasn t for her kissing me that day, I doubt
I would ve had the nerve to make the first move. Now that I thought about it, this was actually the
perfect time to remember that and one other little thing about my pass. However, she wasn t in the
category of things I wish I could forget. I was not what you would call a very popular kid. You could
say I was at the very far end of the popularity hierarchy. Actually, I was at the bottom. My mother had
seen one too many shows about how to raise a star. Soon there were piano lessons, singing lessons,
and worse of all ballet lessons. Oh, but my father did as best he could and I started taking classes in
magic. I doubt there is no greater embarrassment than participating in the school s annual talent show
and your mother is your sexy assistant that is supposed to divert the audience s attention. I had to
admit, there was one thing that came out of that life changing

B. F. Skinner
In this article, it closely examines the use of technology and how it can influence the culture and the
people through B.F. Skinner incredible work in behavior analysis. It mentions that science of behavior
contains a science of values and of moral behavior (Castro, Melo, Rose, 5). According to B.F. Skinner
if the culture has values it will survive. Since facts and values are considered to be the same and that
values belong to the real world. Radical metaethics can relate to empirical ethics. Since good things
are positively reinforced and bad things are negatively reinforced. The value of its culture contributes
to its survival. However, values are only meant to be good morals. If people were influenced by good
morals B.F. Skinner considers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would really like to know what the relationships between our culture, ethics and technology have to
do with B.F. Skinner findings. It took me by surprise that some of B.F. Skinner were misleading even
the authors in this article was also saying that there are other things to consider in what B.F. Skinner
had found through his work in behavior analysis. However, everything he discovered was agreeable.
Reading this article had given me a lot of knowledge about B.F. Skinner and psychology as a whole. I
did not know that good can also be consequences. I personally thought that good is about doing good
things like following the rules and orders that were given to you. But it was not which was interesting
because B.F. Skinner mentions that is about we feel during an event in our lifetime. Whether that s
positive or negative reactions. By taking it further following the rules and orders does not result in
someone else happiness and progression as a person to know itself personally. That is why a cultural
society needs to be balanced. Some will follow the rules and have discipline and some will not who
are sometimes careless and under control. What B.F. Skinner mention about well educated people are
the ones who will build a better world I strongly agree with. Since they are the ones who applied their
understanding and teach it to others. Overall, this article was worth reading. I wasn t expecting much
of this article but it made me think more about the things they have mentioned that is really important

Why Do Homo Sapiens Survive
Surviving with Adaptability
There are roughly two hundred species on earth going extinct every day, with thousands more entering
the area of endangerment (Donovan). Nevertheless, humans have been living on this planet for nearly
100,000 years now (FAQ). With over 7.4 billion living in the world today, it is hard to say that Homo
sapiens haven t been a successful species (Current). Clearly, some trait we possess has allowed us to
maintain our presence at the top of the food chain and survive the tests of time. The mandatory ability
to adapt and the willingness to change are key characteristics for someone to survive and thrive
through the generations of time. We learn from our past and history has proved to us that the world is

New things become popular while others die out. Modern day technology has become one of the
largest industries in the 21st century and as H. Sapiens continue to invent new gadgets and equipment
to assist in everyday life, we are ultimately adapting by making things easier. The use of cars and
automobiles has allowed us to transport items significantly faster than we were previously able to.
Very similar to that, the use of electricity has enabled a multitude of items with a single common
result; making our lives simpler. It is hard to imagine life without these two technological advances.
Neanderthals proved that a life like this was capable, but much more difficult as their techniques
required more manual labor. Generally speaking, these improvements were provoked by our ability to
adapt and our openness to change. The evolution of the human, and more specifically the mental
aspect of them, has enabled us to thrive in this world. The human race has predicated itself as being
the alpha male in the animal kingdom and we have accomplished this feat by modifying our lives and
environments to fit the circumstances placed before us. In order to remain at the top of the chart and
survive through time, humans must continue to possess the trait of adaptability. Homo sapiens have
inhabited Earth for one hundred thousand years now. Hopefully people will continue to adapt and
remain on Earth for another hundred thousand

  • 2. The United States Victory in the Battle of the Philippine... Dubbed the largest battle between aircraft carriers, the World War two, Battle of the Philippine Sea was also the most lopsided modern naval victory ever. Like shooting fish in a barrel or a sitting duck the United States forces easily shot Japanese planes out of the sky and sunk their ships. The object of the battle was control of the Mariana Islands. The Japanese who had initiated the fight with us were strategically using the islands in the Philippine Sea as a defense for their homeland. The United States however also had a vested interest in these islands as they would help us project our forces into reaching distance of Japan. On the other side the leaders of the Japanese Imperial Navy were Fleet commander Vice Admiral Ozawa and Admiral Toyoda the commander in chief of the Japanese combined fleet. Before fighting had even ensued our advantage in equipment and resources was evident. As quickly had the Japanese Commander given his orders we knew what their move was because we had decrypted all of their codes following Pearl Harbor. We also had a foot up on their location and advancements because of our strategic placement of submarines. Americans soon learned the fleet s location, and their submarines converged upon the area in such numbers that Ozawa dared not leave port for maneuvers. His Aviators, who had been sent to the carriers with minimum basic training, ceased training all together. This also contributed greatly to the lack of training Japanese soldiers received. In order to capture the Marianas islands the first order of business was to eliminate the Japanese land advantage. Beginning on 23 February 1944, Mitscher s carrier aircraft repeatedly attacked Japanese air bases in the Marianas [islands] virtually wiping out Japanese [land based] airpower. But what if that ice age persisted over not just regions near the poles, but around the equator as well? The term snowball Earth refers to a condition where Earth is completely covered by ice. Evidence indicates that snowball Earth may have been around in the Neoproterozoic. In fact, evidence points to the conclusion that these conditions happened three separate times in the Neoproterozoic. A snowball Earth condition is hard to prove, but this theory may explain several different phenomena. However, it is not accepted by all, there is evidence against a snowball Earth as well. The most well known example of this is the atomic structure in Chemistry. John Dalton developed the first atomic theory and postulated that all matter was composed of atoms. He unfortunately believed that atoms of the same element were of all the same mass and charge, which was later tested and disproved by the scientist Ernest Rutherford to later be built on by Neils Bohr. These experiments have proven that due to conclusive evidence and constant criticism, scientific principles are subject to change and may be discarded. In this case, depending on your perception, John Dalton s theories may have been unnecessary or may continue coexist with those of Bohr and Rutherford as he is known as the founding father of atomic structure. Learning about the constant revision of scientific theories promotes open mindedness towards science and constant inquiry. Aging And The World Health Organization INTRODUCTION Ageing has been described as the inevitable slow progressive impairment of normal biological function resulting from cellular and structural changes in an organism. These cellular and structural changes directly impact on the functioning of organs, systems and eventually the organism as a whole (Burton 2007). The correlation between the biological time clock for ageing and the calendar/chronological age differs among individuals. However, the World Health Organization accepts 65 years as the chronological age that defines an elderly person (World Health Organization 2014). After getting away with countless crimes, two of his droogs set him up. Alex is rightfully taken into the hands of the police officers and put in prison for the killing of an innocent woman. In this prison he is the first to be chosen and tested on with the Ludovico Technique, a correctional technique for criminals. This technique was a two week process of torture. Insuring that Alex couldn t move his body to interfere with the technique, two scientists had Alex put in a straight jacket and strapped down with his eyes held open by metal clamps. The scientists gave him nausea inducing liquid and would then play movies in front of him of crimes he had committed in the past, beating men and women profusely and raping women. This technique was thought to retrain and reform the criminal s brain. However, one of the more horrific movies was accompanied by classical music, the only nonviolent enjoyment Alex ever connected to. There was no worry to the Sadducees of losing their position because it was secure under Roman rule (Wenham and Walton 41). Their beliefs were different from the Pharisees in that they did not practice oral traditions, that is verbally telling the stories of the Scriptures. Even though they accepted the Old Testament scriptures, they only practiced the beliefs that were in the Pentateuch, which is the first five books from the Old Testament (Murphy 239; Wenham and Walton 42). The quote is after Elie and his father ran more than 20 kilometers from Auschwitz to an abandoned village. Being hungry, thirsty, and especially exhausted would be the only things a person would think if they had done the march while hungry and thirsty. But Elie comes said that quote to prove the strength of the bond between him and his father. Another time in which the prisoners marched was running to Gleiwitz. They stayed there for three days with no food or water, the prisoners were moved into roofless cattle cars, almost 100 people in a car. The prisoners were handed the usual ration before getting on the train and ate snow in order to quench their thirst. Many of the prisoners are all in a condition not fit enough to make a march, but there was something pushing those people to keep on surviving. • 42. The Police Chief Placed A Picture Of The Serial Black Widow The police chief placed a picture of the serial black widow murderer in front of me and my throat constricted. They were scheduled to get married in less than a week and there was no evidence to take convinces the bridegroom to call off the wedding let alone delay the nuptials. That old saying that it is always the last person you would ever expect? Well, there was no way in hell did I see this one coming. Of all the times to think about Tessa and how sad she had looked to tell me her parents had received a job offer and she would have to move away. If it wasn t for her kissing me that day, I doubt I would ve had the nerve to make the first move. Now that I thought about it, this was actually the perfect time to remember that and one other little thing about my pass. However, she wasn t in the category of things I wish I could forget. I was not what you would call a very popular kid. You could say I was at the very far end of the popularity hierarchy. Actually, I was at the bottom. My mother had seen one too many shows about how to raise a star. Soon there were piano lessons, singing lessons, and worse of all ballet lessons. Oh, but my father did as best he could and I started taking classes in magic. I doubt there is no greater embarrassment than participating in the school s annual talent show and your mother is your sexy assistant that is supposed to divert the audience s attention. I had to admit, there was one thing that came out of that life changing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. B. F. Skinner In this article, it closely examines the use of technology and how it can influence the culture and the people through B.F. Skinner incredible work in behavior analysis. It mentions that science of behavior contains a science of values and of moral behavior (Castro, Melo, Rose, 5). According to B.F. Skinner if the culture has values it will survive. Since facts and values are considered to be the same and that values belong to the real world. Radical metaethics can relate to empirical ethics. Since good things are positively reinforced and bad things are negatively reinforced. The value of its culture contributes to its survival. However, values are only meant to be good morals. If people were influenced by good morals B.F. Skinner considers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I would really like to know what the relationships between our culture, ethics and technology have to do with B.F. Skinner findings. It took me by surprise that some of B.F. Skinner were misleading even the authors in this article was also saying that there are other things to consider in what B.F. Skinner had found through his work in behavior analysis. However, everything he discovered was agreeable. Reading this article had given me a lot of knowledge about B.F. Skinner and psychology as a whole. I did not know that good can also be consequences. I personally thought that good is about doing good things like following the rules and orders that were given to you. But it was not which was interesting because B.F. Skinner mentions that is about we feel during an event in our lifetime. Whether that s positive or negative reactions. By taking it further following the rules and orders does not result in someone else happiness and progression as a person to know itself personally. That is why a cultural society needs to be balanced. Some will follow the rules and have discipline and some will not who are sometimes careless and under control. What B.F. Skinner mention about well educated people are the ones who will build a better world I strongly agree with. Since they are the ones who applied their understanding and teach it to others. Overall, this article was worth reading. I wasn t expecting much of this article but it made me think more about the things they have mentioned that is really important in today s ... Modern day technology has become one of the largest industries in the 21st century and as H. Sapiens continue to invent new gadgets and equipment to assist in everyday life, we are ultimately adapting by making things easier. The use of cars and automobiles has allowed us to transport items significantly faster than we were previously able to. Very similar to that, the use of electricity has enabled a multitude of items with a single common result; making our lives simpler. It is hard to imagine life without these two technological advances. Neanderthals proved that a life like this was capable, but much more difficult as their techniques required more manual labor. Generally speaking, these improvements were provoked by our ability to adapt and our openness to change. The evolution of the human, and more specifically the mental aspect of them, has enabled us to thrive in this world. The human race has predicated itself as being the alpha male in the animal kingdom and we have accomplished this feat by modifying our lives and environments to fit the circumstances placed before us. In order to remain at the top of the chart and survive through time, humans must continue to possess the trait of adaptability. Homo sapiens have inhabited Earth for one hundred thousand years now.
