Comparing Hinduism And Islam
Many people tend to confuse Muslims from Hindus and vice versa. After visiting each place of
worship and examining each person individually, and listening to each person speak so highly
about their religion and culture, you can clearly distinguish between the two. They have many
similarities and differences, which establish a relationship between the two. Although in the past
there has been many disputes over the two, this is due to their dissimilarities. The most common
dispute between the two are because of the gods. Hinduism, think that gods are present in
everything and anything while Islambelieves in the holiness of Allah alone. I find it interesting,

The Islamic religions follows five pillars from the prophet. 1. Testament that there is one God and
Muhammad is his messenger; 2. prayer five times daily mainly before sunset and after; 3. fast
during Ramadan you can eat after sunset; 4. charity to the poor at least 2.5% of their overall
wealth; 5. Pilgrimage journey to the holy place in India, the Mosque.
The goal of Hinduism is to break the cycle of rebirth, in attempt to attain salvation. On the other
hand, the goal of the Islamic religion is to fulfill their responsibility of life by following the
Quran and Hadith, and to live life with compassion towards all of Gods creations. When it comes
to the place of worship, both religions differ in regards to statues and pictures. Shiva Vishnu
contained many statues of their gods and it is a common practice to have these images. Although,
ISOM does not contain any drawings, paintings, or statues regarding their gods. God cannot be
seen, but sees all. They only have calligraphy and the temple is angled in such a way that it faces
Mecca.
Islam comes from the Arabic root word of Salema which translates to peace, submission, and
obedience. Islam is submission to the will of God and obedience to His rules. The Muslims follow
the Qur an, and traditions of the Holy Last messenger Muhammad, called Sunnah which is found in
prayers or hadiths by the men around him. Hindus follow the Vedas and Gita, Smrti and Sruti are

Compare And Contrast Freerk V. Ray Freeark
LAWSUIT OVER THE ACCIDENT With the help of a lawyer named Ray Freeark, Jerry files a
lawsuit on April 18, 1972, against the State of Illinois hoping to collect damages in the sum of
$25,000. His case is built on the fact that because of the heavy rain over several days with the
temperature dropping below freezing that night, the state of Illinois was negligent in permitting
flood water to cover U.S. Route 50 where it crosses Silver Creek. Freeark argues that this area
was dry and in good condition when Jerry went to the game and that, following the same route
back, with little or no rain falling, he had no idea that Silver Creek was on the verge of flooding
due to rain that had fallen on the previous two days. The man who operated a wrecking

Johannes Vermeer And Albert Bierstadt
Two painters in history are known for their abilities to depict scenes in such realistic manners that
you would never know they are actually producing paintings. These painters are named Johannes
Vermeer and Albert Bierstadt. Both men came from different times and ethnic backgrounds.
Dutchman, Johannes Vermeer was born in the year 1632 and passed away in 1675. Over his
lifetime Vermeer used a style of paintingthat causing modern day historians and art lovers to
struggle to figure out how he painted such realistic scenes that mimicked photographs. His style
combined many pictorial depth cues while maintaining a strong sense of realism throughout the
relatively few paintings he produced. Next is Prussian artist Albert Bierstadt, who was born in the
year 1830 and passed away in 1903. Bierstadt is widely known for his highly realistic paintings of
the American West landscape. Combining pictorial depth cues and visual realism were his
specialties, while raising a large degree of illusionism in his paintings. In his lifetime Bierstadt
produced over 500 paintings, most of which pertained to the places he visited on his journey
across the United States. While Bierstadt and Vermeer were two very different men, their works
shared common elements. Vermeer s The Music Lesson and The Concert and Bierstadt s Yosemite
Valley share many of the same pictorial depth cues, realism, and even a sense of illusionism. In
order to analyze how these works of art are alike, three questions must be

1. What does it mean if a company trades at a discount ? Is Amtelecom Group Inc. (AGI) really
trading at a discount?
If the market value of a stock is lower than its intrinsic value, this stock is defined as trades at a
discount . To figure out whether AGI stock is traded at a discount to comparable companies, as its
management believed, we can simply apply multiple which comes from the average multiple of its
comparable companies. Considering fluctuation of future after tax earnings caused by the change in
capital structure, we prefer to use TEV/EBITDA multiple in this case. Amtelecom Group consists of
two lines of business which has to been taken into consideration. We separately calculate the value

3.2 Strengths and weaknesses of Amtelecom Communications
Strength: Amtelecom Communications is the sole provider of local telephone services in all of its
exchanges and a leading provider of long distance and data services in the majority of his
exchanges. As a sole provider of some services, Amtelecom Communications ensures the constant
revenue and customers. Its subsidiary, Amtelecom Cable inc. has eight stand alone systems exempt
from licensing. The cost advantage ensures the leading position of Amtelecom Communications.
Weakness: Amtelecom Communication s telecommunication business occupies 90 percent of its all
business. If there is an unforeseeable risk occurring in telecommunications, the company may suffer
devastating loss. Company should focus more on new growth point, such as internet and service
innovation.
4. Assess the value of Amtelecom Communications using available valuation methods including
DCF and multiples. Which valuation method is most suitable for each sales alternative? What are
the expected net proceeds for each sales alternative?
Because the management of AGI expects to complete the acquisition by early 2003, the valuation
of the Amtelecom Communication should be calculated for 31 Dec, 2002. In order to calculate the

Views On The Historical Adam Essay
Four views on the historical Adam consists of four prominent biblical scholars, who together,
provided there understanding of scripture to a project that shed light on the figure identified in
Genesis 1 as Adam. The four contributors to this book are: Dr. Denis Lamoureux, Dr. John
Walton, Dr. C. John Collins, and Dr. William Barrick. Four Views on the Historical Adam visibly
outlines four key views on the Genesis figure Adam held by evangelicals. The content provided is
theologically consistent in some ways, while in others, scientifically plausible for the one who may
be struggling to reconcile their interpretation of Adam with both modern science and with passages
found in the Bible.
As mentioned in the introduction there is a huge debate strong at present in Christianity on the
life of Adam and Eve. Though many may not bother to care, as a tool in apologetics it is
important that we are not caught off guard by the questions that exist regarding of their actual
existence. So I ask, did they exist? If so, is it possible that Adam wasn t the first ever human? If
not, how are we sinners because of his original sin? So to answer my first question, I will start off
by providing Dr. Lamoureux position on the matter. Dr. Lamoureux very humbly asserts Adam
never existed, and this fact has no impact whatsoever on the foundational beliefs of Christianity (p.
38). Though he stated that he had no intention of converted one to side with his view, and that he

You should choose your kitchen utensils for enameled cast iron cookware very carefully, not
because it is particularly prone to scratching, because it is not, but because it tends to chip if
banged. Chipping of enameled cookware occurs when the enamel surface is shocked sufficiently
to break the bond with the metal This type of cookware is becoming very popular again, largely
because of the bright colors and designs in which it is available, unlike the dark raw cast iron
versions that look unexciting even though they appear traditional and functional. Another reason is
that is easy to clean, and tends to look cleaner and fresher than the more tradition seasoned cast iron

Minimum Fines And Punishments For Drivers
Every person that has operated a vehicle before, or has seen a vehicle operated, understands that
while driving is a very convenient mode of transportation, it can also be extremely dangerous for
vehicle operators and people near the roads which vehicles are operated on. These dangers are
suppressed by the rules and regulations imposed by our governments. While some laws on
roadways seem to be a nuisance to drivers, they are there for a reason, to keep us safe. One
specific roadway area that the government is very concerned with keeping safe would be
construction zones. Currently the fines and punishments for drivers who are ticketed and/or are
involved in accidents in work zones are higher than they are in regular roadway areas. The
question that this essay will explore is whether or not these higher fines are appropriate. Traffic
laws are the jurisdiction of the state governments and because of this the laws imposed in work
zones vary between each state. Currently in Michigan all fines for speeding are doubled in
work zones. Speeding in Michigan s work zones can also result in increased points on your
license. Furthermore, if you injure or kill a worker in a work zone in Michigan you face a
$7,500 fine and 15 years in prison. About 32 other states also enforce the double fine laws in work
zones, but 24 states with these laws require workers to be present. Missouri enforces one of the
steepest penalties for worker endangerment, including up to a $10,000 fine. While these

Examples Of Figurative Language In Othello
Honest Iago, Right? The villain in Othello, Iago, fits the stereotype of manipulation and lies that
most commonly gets associated with fake people. He contradicts himself to make a character
view him in a specific way, which is necessary for Iago to fulfill his revenge on Othello. Iago
tricks Roderigo, a foolish Venetian, who loves Desdemona and would do anything to have another
chance at her heart. Iago s intentions can be discovered when looking deep into the meaning
behind his sarcasm, comparisons and emphasis. Iago uses sarcasm, figurative language, and
repetition to tell the reader what he really believes, while manipulating the characters in the play to

Iago repeats his idea in his conversation with Roderigo to let Roderigo know what he needs to do
to get Desdemona. Furthermore, it allows the reader to understand why Iago wants Roderigo s

Othello and Desdemona will never last, and when she is done with Othello she will need a new
man with money. Iago tells Roderigo to Go, provide thy money (414), which shows that they
will work together to inflict revenge on Othello and to get Desdemona for Roderigo. Iago s
constant reference to money proves that Iago does not have good intensions and even puts the
question, whether or not he is going to rip off Roderigo. This obsession of money brings more of
Iago s true self to the reader and raises questions about his loyalty to

Integration Between Peasant And Elite Populations
Over the years, the ever evolving gastronomic identity that resulted from the fluid integration
between peasant and elite populations helped shape an equally evolving Italian cultural identity.
This glutinous parallel can be seen in the unique identities in the various regions ranging from the
South to the North of Italy. Although many national stereotypes exist today from the macaroni
eaters, to the red sauce that accompanies pasta, these can be explained by the exchange and the
influence that globalization has on culture. Acting as a basis to Italian identity are the practices
passed down through generations orally, the knowledge that is indispensable to their heritage in
which each recipe holds a variant to another. This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Being relatively inexperienced in the culinary world, I effectively set aside a days worth of time
to prepare my meal. Pouring over lists of ingredients, various recipes, and meticulously organized
equipment, I began my culinary journey with an Italian mindset. Beginning bright and early at
the Root Cellar I browsed through the vibrant local produce, indulged in the scent of fresh herbs,
and stood in awe at the monstrous wheel of parmigiano reggiano. Rather than opting for
packaged herbs, I took this opportunity to cross off my goal of creating an herb garden on my list
of to dos. Continuing on my journey, I visited the Market on Yates, which is full of unusual items
that can be easily overlooked amongst rows of generic names. This neighborhood market acts as a
fresh grocer much like the farmer s markets that are not accessible to those living in the heart of
downtown Victoria.
Food is an essential component to the creation of an Italian identity, as it offers not only sustenance,
but also provides narratives that reflect community and conflicts, tradition and innovation. When
searching for an appropriate recipe, reaching out to family and friends for a recipe they swear by, a

Analysis Of Titus Andronicus By William Shakespeare
In William Shakespeare s play, Titus Andronicus, the main character Titus Andronicus is a
perfect example of the never ending cycle of vengeance. Throughout the play, Titus and Tamora
seek resolution and closure through revenge. Throughout the play, these characters do not
realize the resolution to their war over vengeance is making peace. When one person chooses to
get back at the other this creates a never ending loop of revenge or topping one another s conflict.
The key to success in this situation would be for one to make peace, and in this play you will
discover how these characters brought closure to their cycle of never ending vengeance. In the
play, the audience is shown how vengeance controls one s perspective. In other words, vengeance
can impact and skew ones view on life and negatively impair one s decisions. The audience
understands from the beginning of the play how Tamora s positive and sympathetic character is
very evident; although, in Act II, her mind and actions has been dramatically skewed and
twisted. Tamora s attitude has been overcome by vengeance as she says, But straight they told
me they would bind me here Unto the body of a dismal yew, And leave me to this miserable
death: And then they call d me foul adulteress, Lascivious Goth, and all the bitterest terms That
ever ear did hear to such effect: And, had you not by wondrous fortune come, This vengeance on
me had they executed. Revenge it, as you love your life, Or be ye not henceforth call d my

How Did The Second World War Affect The Development Of
How did the Second World War affect the development of Japan? Introduction The Second World
War was the bloodiest conflict in the history of humanity. It has largely affected the evolution of
many nations throughout the whole globe. This essay focuses on the impact of World War II on
the vector of development of Japanese state. In this paper, I will argue that the war had a huge
effect on Japan and that it has fundamentally changed the future of the Asian state in a positive
direction. My essay will be structured in the following way. Firstly, I will outline the main
aftermaths of the Second World War for Japan. Secondly, I will explain how the results of the war

However, in my view, Cohen has underestimated the benefits that economic concentration on
military, brought to the postwar Japanese economic development. In accordance with John
Dower, during the war period, there was a huge increase in the production of machinery (252%),
nonferrous metals (70%), steel (46%) and manufacturing (24%), which was extremely beneficial
for the after war economic growth. Personally, I assume that Dower was right and without the
rapid increase in these industries, Japan would not be able to achieve its postwar economic
prosperity. A good verification of this argument is that after the war was over, many of the
wartime companies (Toyota, Nissan, Normura Securities, Toshiba) were successfully transformed
into peaceful and prosperous commercial corporations, which exist even today. Kenneth Pyle
argues (?) that nationalistic and military goals of these companies were quickly replaced by
commercial aims gun factories started to make sewing machines and optical vehicle
manufactories began to produce cameras . The Occupation of Japan, which was the result of
Japan s lose in the World War, was destined to change the economy of the state and turn it into a

Like consumers, farmers do not have much choice either. Farmers plant crops that are
demanded by the global food market. Essentially, farms are no longer owned by farmers and the
farmers become the laborers. Also, it sometimes is all or nothing for farmers. For one, some
land can only be used for one crop, for example coffee, and if something goes wrong with the
crop, farmers lose everything. Second, unskilled labor jobs are dwindling, so there might not be
much else a farmer could do if something were to happen to their land. It seems that when crops
do well, farmers should be making a lot of money, however, the food processors and distributors
are the ones who make most of the profit. Because of this, farmers are left with pennies compared
to what the others make. Farmers and consumers have fought to control the food system, but what
other choice do they have than to support it? The second section to be reviewed is chapter two.
This chapter was devastating because it talked about the poverty that farmers face and the suicides
that result because of it. Farmers cannot bare to see their families struggle or lose their farm that
has been in the family for generations and, frequently, they use highly toxic pesticides used on their
farms to commit suicide. Not only do these happen in poor developing countries, but also in
wealthy, developed countries such as Australia and the United States. After a farmer passes, the

The Stock Market
In 2001, it struck everybody as odd when a blue chip stock went bankrupt less than a year after it
paid its top 5 executives a total of $282.7 million. The stock market is notorious for being
seductively tricky; being the sole contributor to the making and breaking of many men. However,
this time it was clear that this wasn t an ordinary unexpected decline. Enron Corporation, a former
American energy company, had to have had something going on behind the scenes to cause the
largest chapter 11 bankruptcy of its time. As the house of cards collapsed, it became clear that
investors were blindsided by one of the largest instances of pump and dump stockfraud the market
had ever seen. While it may be an enigma to many, the stock marketdoes have some simple ground
rules that hold true almost all the time, no matter what stock one plans on investing in. The
backbone of the stock market is generally coined buy low, sell high. This term is short and sweet,
but it encompasses all that is required to make money in the stock market. To make money, all
somebody has to do is buy shares of a stock when the price is low and undervalued, and then sell
those shares when the price goes up. Ignoring brokerage fees and federal taxes, this is essentially
all one has to do to make a profit; rinse and repeat. This same rule works in reverse if someone is
trying to avoid losing money on an investment. If shares of an overvalued stock are owned and the
price is expected to decline, one would

Changes of Police Culture

The New Zealand Police is the lead agency responsible for helping the community to decrease or
reduce crime, corruption and improve the responsibility of safety and protection in New Zealand.
There is a need to make changes to the police culture in order to improve the performance of their
organisation. However there are three fundamental errors that need to be addressed which will be
discussed in this essay. Firstly, there is a lack of an established sense of urgency which has the
potential to jeopardize the future of the organization. Secondly is, not creating a powerful enough
guiding coalition which means there is a lack of communication which resulted in an absence of

Poor performing staff pretending to look good and act professionally for national headquarters but
behind that they have poor performance. Senior staff and headquarter were lacking the confidence
of communicating and manage performance effectively. No matter how capable or dedicate the
staff head groups without line leadership never achieve the power is required. (Kotter 2007). An
absence of leadership was due to a leader not fully committed or works with the staff to accomplish
the organisation mission. Howard Broad was the commissioner of the police organisation at that
time when the rape allegations against few police officers took place. This could be of poor
leadership not having a better communication with the staff could be the causation of these
problems and so a little commitment early in the change process ended nothing happens or changes

Undercommunicating the Vision by a Factor of Ten.
This error of undercommunication the vision is linked to the one above, due to all the poor

The Temptation Of The Sirens In Homer s Odyssey
The poem The Sirens and the episode containing sirens in The Odyssey contain similarities that
expose the theme of temptation. For instance, the sirens claim that their green isle is a place
where one could rest forevermore in the poem, and they call to Odysseus as well, telling him how
no one had passed the sirens without listening to them, and how they always received a great treat.
Both of these examples show the sirens deception, how they are trying to fool men into thinking of
a beautiful island with flowers and green grass when reality presents a manifest of death and evil,
with each sirensitting atop a mound of bones.
This helps prove the archetype of a temptress as well, because the sirens deceive the men into
coming to their death by promising relief from strain and sweat they experience as they work. In
the poem they especially seem to draw focus to the hard work of the men, which can help expose
their exhaustion for them to take advantage of, as they claim here thou may rest from aching oar,
and tells them to turn thy curved prow ashore . This helps to persuade the men further, and the
addition of this temptation helps further prove the point of the sirens playing the role of a temptress.

The Political Economy Of North America
Abstract
1986 was a pivotal year for the political economy of North America. During that year, some
significant events took place that resulted to the beginning of a new era. In Mexico, a new political
leader exerted the country towards entering the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade. Mexico
made an alliance with the United States that would ultimately create a free trade zone stretching
from Central America all the way to the North Pole. Rather than incorporating the movement of
workers of North America into the alliance, the United States insisted on controlling its borders
unilaterally in order to prevent the integration of its labor markets. This event lead to Congress
passing the Immigration Reform and Control Act. Many of the immigrants entered America in
search for work and a better life. As the immigration population increased, American citizens began
to worry about the economy and their jobs, safety, and their health.
The Porous Mexican Border The 700 mile long fence that was constructed along the United States
Mexico border less than a month before the nation s population hit the 300 million mark, was not a
coincidence. The United States Congress knew that there was a dramatic change in the face of the
United States since the population hit 200 million in the year of 1967 and therefore voted to
approve a bill, (HR 6061), that would limit immigration (Kesler and Bloemraad, 2010). Immigration

Raphael Sanzio
RAPHAEL SANZIO
Raphael was one of the most important artists of the Italian Renaissance. Raphael painted and
designed many brilliant pieces of work and the stanzas inside the Vatican. He was a master at such
necessities of modern art such as depth and perspective and the use of light and shadow, and was
the turning point styles of paintings like the use of Madonnas in paintings. Through his short life,
Raphael would make some of the most awe inspiring, beautiful, and influential works of art during
the Italian Renaissance.
Raphael whose full name was Raphael Sanzio, (also known as Raphael Sanzi), was born on April
6th, 1483. He was born in the town of Urbino, Italy, where he would spend his childhood life until
he was 11 years old. His ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1508, at the age of 24, Raphael was invited to the Vatican by Pope Julius II. Raphael was
summoned to the Vatican to paint things like stanzas, and was probably recommended to the
pope by Domato Bramante, an architect. He was immediately well liked by the pope and
everyone else at the Vatican due to his personality; Raphael was a nice, gentle, and sensitive
individual. As Giorgio Vasari once said about Raphael, Raphael was so gentle and so charitable
that even animals loved him, not to speak of men. (Ruskin, p. 132)
In order for Raphael to paint stanzas Pope Julius II ordered some old frescoes to be washed away
from the Vatican walls. Although he made many stanzas, he only painted one stanza: the Stanza
della Segnatura. In the other stanzas that Raphael would make, Raphael would sketch the stanzas
and his pupils would paint whatever he sketched. In the Stanza della Segnatura, there was a stanza
for each of the four walls.. Each side represented a topic. The four sides were about theology,
poetry, philosophy, law. Each topic was represented with a painting. Theology was represented by
Disputa, poetry by Parnassus, Jurisprudence represented law, and the extremely famous The School
of Athens represented philosophy. He started working on these stanzas in early 1509 and finished in

The Danger Of A Bully s Ambition This essay is based upon how Macbeth and other characters
in this story fits into the cycle of bullying. Some people may ask what is the cycle of bullying?
Cycle of bullying can include using harmful language, physical violence, exclusion, using social
standing, using technology, and etc. A bully is a person who uses strength or power to harm or
intimidate those who are weak. Some other people may ask who came up with this? The bullying
cycle was developed by Dan Olweus, a psychologist from Norway. The bullying cycle has three
people included in it. The bully, a bystander, and a victim.
In this case the bully would be the three witches, the victim is ... Show more content on

knew what was going to end up happening to Macbeth so they made his life troubled with many

Thane Of Cawdor, but Macbeth had doubts about what the witches told him, because Duncan
made Malcolm the person legal to his property if he passed. Then Macbeth decides he wants to

Travel Agency Management
Could the tide be changing? Travel agencies play an important role within the UK travel and
tourism industry. They are the retail arm of the industry, selling a wide range of holiday products
and travel services to the public. Yet travel industry analysts have been predicting the death of the
high street travel agent due to the ever changing nature of distribution channels. Travel agents are
the key intermediaries in the distribution chain whose main role is selling air, rail, sea and land

Integration means formal linking arrangements between one organisation and another. Vertical
integration occurs along the production process, for example, when an airline establishes its own
tour operating company. This type of integration is forwards into the marketplace, and the most
popular example is when a tour wholesaler acquires a retail travel chain through merger or
purchase. Another way is backwards and this is most commonly seen when tour operators own
airlines, and when scheduled airlines form alliances with multinational hotel chains and surface
transport companies to secure trading advantages over their rivals. The benefits of forming vertical
links include cutting out the middle man by being able to control costs and quality
standards...securing supplies and increasing buying power, and protecting market position by
guaranteeing retail outlets on prime high street sites. (Fyall and Wanhill, 2007) Other ways of
controlling the market is by franchising, which is a licensing agreement whereby the parent
company grants another firm the right to sell its products and use its brand name, but in return the
firm should not sell the products of its competitors. And through mutual shareholding arrangements
and a system of tied agency licensing, which gives them exclusive outlets for their products and
protects their profits. Second type of integration is called horizontal integration, which occurs when
two tour operators or two travel agents integrate,

Figurative Language In Shakespeare s Like As The Waves
While writing authors often use figurative language for a variety of reasons. Figurative language
helps makes a piece of literature more appealing and easier to read. In the poem Like as the
Waves by William Shakespeare, a large amount of figurative language. He uses figurative
language to bring more life to the writing and make it more enjoyable to read. Shakespeare s use
of figurative language helps illustrate the theme, time can bring both good and bad outcomes.
One form of figurative language used by Shakespeare in this poem is imagery. The use of
imagery helps create a visual of what is going on and makes the poem more engaging. One
example of his use of imagery is when he writes, Like as the waves make toward the pebbled
shore, so do our minutes hasten to their end, (Shakespeare 1 2). Shakespeare is creating the image
of waves crashing on the shore. He is also creating a simile. By using a simile, Shakespeare is able

He gives human characteristics to many inanimate objects, especially to time. One example of
this is when he writes, ВЁ Time doth transfix the flourish set on youth, And delves the parallels
in beauty s brow (Shakespeare 9 10). He gives this example of personification to help the
demonstrate how he views time and how it affects a person both physically and emotionally. He
views time as destructive and something that is not always good and he uses figurative language
to illustrate this. Another example of this is when he writes, Praising thy worth, despite his cruel
hand (Shakespeare 14). Shakespeare uses personification to show that time can never completely
eliminate a person or an item. Although time taking away loved ones and ideas is awful, cherished
memories that were created over time are left behind. Shakespeare uses a wide variety of
personification in this poem to help illuminate the message he is trying to

If an event occurs that is not consistent with the meaning of an individual s life, this will threaten
that individual s ontological security as stated by Giddens, On the other side of what may
appear to be quite trivial aspects of day to day action and discourse, chaos lurks. And this chaos
is not just disorganisation but the loss of sense of the very reality of things and of other persons
[Gidden p37]. Ontological security also involves having a positive view of self, the world and
the future. Ontology is the science of being; therefore ontological security is the security of
being, the maintenance of identity and the self. This would cause anxiety and result in the
withdrawal from certain experiences or activities to maintain the ontology. Goffman on the other
hand refers to the identity of self as a performance and a script where an individual sets the scene
for their life. Basically he is saying that individuals sets out to present themselves to the world
around them, always trying to maintain the role they have selected for themselves, since those
whom they meet not only try to decide what role it is you are playing, but also whether or not
you are competent to play that role. Goffman states There is a popular view that the individual
offers his performance and puts on his show for the benefit of other people . It will be convenient

Effects Of The Wright Brothers
Exoskeletons: From Arachnid To Human Humans have always had the ability to observe the ways
of the world and then figure out how to improve our living with them. For example, Leonardo da
Vinci, the Wright brothers and others watched birds and their patterns until they figured out a way
to make pieces and parts into a flying machine. Their research has now become airplanes, and
aircraft carriers. By simply seeing the world, they figured out a way to better human transportation.
Since the beginning of time, humans have been flawed. Whether the flaws are internal like mental
disabilities, or external like paraplegia, they have always existed. Sometimes people are born with
these disabilities, other times they develop. Either way, we, as humans have one thing that we
want to do: fix the problem at hand. The Wright brothers are a wonderful example of this. They
wanted to change the way humans traveled from place A to place B, thus they found a solution.
Scientists from all around the world have been working on how to make hemiplegia, paraplegia and
quadriplegiamanageable. With this thought in mind, scientists looked to arachnids, lobsters, crabs,
and other creatures with exoskeletons. They marveled at the outer skeleton and wondered how they
could use that idea to help the disabled. Their idea was to have something support and control the
movement outside the body instead of the inside. If the body itself isn t able to work properly, then
why not make something that can

As I Lay Dying By William Faulkner
As I Lay Dying
William Faulkner
Entry 1
Beginning As I Lay Dying, I am already struggling with the dialect of the novel. This confusion
is deepened because I had no prior knowledge of the characters and plot. There are many
characters that Faulkner mentions in the first twenty five pages of the novels and so I was
trying to connect the characters and find out who was who. Faulkner also constantly refers to
Addie as she . This confused me at first because I didn t know who Faulkner was referring to and
how Addie was related to all of the other characters. I found that as long as I read very slowly and
pay attention to detail, I can understand the language of the story better than I expected. I was able
to connect all the characters and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is making the characters unrelatable so I hope that I improve on understanding the dialect of
the novel.
Entry 3
I find that I am having trouble reading some characters narrations more than others. Cash s
narrations are the simplest to read as his thoughts are fairly straightforward to follow and his
narration doesn t move from one idea to another. Vardaman, Dewey Dell and Darl all have
narrations that are difficult to follow because their thoughts move rapidly from one idea to another.
Vardaman is a child and his narration is the most difficult to understand because of the childish
manner it is written in. Dewey Dell also expresses very complicated thoughts. Dewey Dell begins
her narration using only he to identify who she is thinking about. She also continually refers to
herself and him as a tub of guts. Darl is very thoughtful and his thoughts move from one topic to
something completely different and so I find his narration very difficult to follow.
Entry 4
There have been many examples of animal symbolism in As I Lay Dying. I didn t understand what
Vardaman meant when he first says my mother is a fish (76) and later when Darl says Jewel s
mother is a horse (86). I went back in the novel and read about that the fish Vardaman caught was
chopped to pieces and no longer recognizable. When Vardaman says his mother is a fish, Vardaman
is saying that his mother is no longer recognizable to him

The Quran tells people what they should do to please God and how it will be on judgment day. It
also tells people how to worship God and how they should act towards other people. During the
early communities of Islam, reading the Quran and practicing Islam, communities came up with the
Pillars of Islam . It was about how there is one God and that Muhammadis the Prophet. It also
included the prayer rituals. Other parts of the pillar were about giving back to the community
which included charity and also the fasting of Ramadan and the Hajj. Al Shafi I (767 820) said

everything has to be in an order. If not she goes a little mad which is normal at least for the normal

Doing Business in India
We believe the single greatest risk of doing business in India is its bureaucracy. The Indian
bureaucracy is often referred to as babudom. An Indian bureaucrat is often referred to as a babu.
Today, babu may also mean Sir or Mr. The babudom was formed after Indiagained independence
from Britain. It employs many more people than necessary and it is highly unproductive. Each
geographic region of the babudom requires specific government permissions and taxes. Making
progress in the babudom with limited local support is a difficult task, especially for a small U.S.

Companies have to pay employees to deal with the babudom instead of paying them to sell their
products and services. Companies often hire outside people to help them deal with the babudom.
For example, a company might hire an attorney or someone familiar with the law to help expedite
the process of approval for their products.
Instead of telling someone negative information, Indians in the babudom will often communicate a
negative response by endless stalling. This stalling could last for months or even years.
Throughout this stalling, the Indian will come up with excuses for why something has not been
done. Americans must be able to recognize when they are being given false information and know
when to move on. For example, if an is unable to do something for your company, he or she still
might say, I ll try instead of saying no.
Contact the appropriate government departments for information to help you save time and avoid
bureaucratic processes. The India desks at the U.S. State Department and the Commerce
Department will be able to provide you with the latest rules and regulations governing investment,
the export of goods, and the import of goods or services. It would also be useful to contact the

Rousseau And Wollstonecraft On The Lack Of Equality
Rousseau and Wollstonecraft on the Lack of Equality We are not supposed to be all equal. Let s
just forget that. We are supposed to have equal rights under law. If we do that, we have done
enough. said Ben Stein, an iconic commentator on political and economic issues. But is it
enough? Of course everyone is not born equal but if we were to be alike under the law, does that
mean inequalities are to disappear in households and in governments? If we re not supposed to be
equal according to Ben, then where does inequality come from and what are the consequences of
it? Jean Jacques Rousseau in The Basic Political Writings and Mary Wollstonecraft in A
Vindication of the Rights of Woman serves to answers those questions. The two authors offer a
very different assessment from each other on the matter but for me personally, I can relate to both
sides of the argument. Rousseau s claim that nearly all inequalities result from social institutions is
very appealing because it s essentially claiming to be the origin of inequality and Wollstonecraft on
the other hand dives deeper into the subject matter to discuss a very specific inequality, the lack of
gender equalityand the consequences of it.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

solitude before rules and communication with one another existed. He claims that prior to reason
there are two principles that existed, self preservation and pity. (2011: 42) Self preservation or love
of self drove humans to find food and shelter, pity on the other hand is what led humans to create
society because naturally humans cannot stand to see others suffer and perish. Thus, the creation of
societies is what created inequalities among humans according to Rousseau but Wollstonecraft

Racial Prejudice and Bias Against Hispanics Essay
Racial Prejudice and Bias Against Hispanics
At some point in life, every individual has been treated like an outsider. It occurs often with
children or teenagers. However, one can still be regarded with this attitude as an adult.
Furthermore, an entire group can feel as if they are being treated as an outsider, and sadly enough,
it does happen regularly. One author, David Hernandez, spoke about these occurrencesthrough his
poem Pigeons. With his poem, Hernandez argues that
Hispanics are never treated or viewed as insiders, but always as outsiders. Sadly enough,
I would have to agree with Hernandez s argument, for in his poem he concludes that
Hispanics are viewed as weird because of their culture, are deprived by ... Show more content on

Another argument that Hernandez brings up in his poem is that pigeons, or
Hispanics, are deprived by society. The author explains the deprivation by bluntly saying,
[n]obody wants to give pigeons a job[;] / [p]arakeets, canaries, and parrots / have the market sewn
up as far as that goes (Hernandez 1023). This is a very true statement.
Even though Hispanics can be seen working at jobs, these jobs are frequently minimum wage for
pay in which they cannot advance to higher positions. It is rare to see a
Hispanic person working in an office in which blacks and whites are the dominant customers or
employees. Also, this act of depriving is done within the school system.
Often times a child with a Hispanic background is not given the opportunity to rise to his or her
level of learning. They are often kept back and placed in lower level classes. As the author of
Pigeons so clearly argues, Hispanics are not given as many opportunities to succeed by American
society.
Hernandez makes another clear argument statement with his poem Pigeons. He makes the point
that his ethnic group is not accepted by many Americans. He asks a simple but strong question
within his poem: When was the last time you saw a pigeon in someone s home? (Hernandez
1023). Hispanics are not usually welcomed in the homes of whites or blacks for the main fact

a constant battle with himself throughout the whole story. This being because he has started
drinking at all times so that he can hear a click in his head and become peaceful. The reason that
he drinks is because he feels he is responsible for his friends Skipper s death. Brick s drinking is
important to the play because it shows his disinterest in almost everything that occurs during the
book. For example, while the will of Big Daddy s is being discussed, Brick is outside on the
balcony having a drink. Gooper says to Maggie during this scene Why don t you go out there
and drink with Brick? (Williams 149). This also is important because it shows that they
characters in the play realize that Brick has no interest in anything besides his drink. Brick is an
interesting character because he is the only one who does not thrive for Big Daddy s love, yet
he is the only one who receives it. Brick can also be described as a character who is disgusted.
He is disgusted with many events in this play. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof was heralded by some as
the play in which homosexuality was at last to be presented without evasion (Bentley). This
quote by critic Eric Bentley stands true because the idea of homesexuality in the play is another
reason Brick is disgusted. He is disgusted with the world for the most part because nobody
understand that his and Skipper s relationship was not a homosexual one.He states Why can t
exceptional friendship, real, real, deep, deep friendship! between two men be respected as

investment costs. If we also take into consideration of the fact that these payments will not be
made all in the first year, each cash flow will need to be discounted based on real interest rate
(3.9%) and the year in question. We can easily say, if the plane price is not appropriated
accordingly each year, the breakeven point will go even farther away from what Airbus imagined.
As for competition, Boeing had built approximately 85% of the industry s current fleet, which
indicates the high experience and brand awareness of Boeing in the industry, which is a
competitive advantage in terms of strong service level. 747 400 is the only model that can be
seen as an alternative to the new Airbus VLA models. Boeing s 747 launch case indicates that this
kind of decision to make for Airbus should based on long term projections. It can be seen as
unnecessary for the

Film Techniques in the Movie Shawshank Redemption
Shawshank Redemption directed by Frank Darabont is a compelling film about the life of one
of its prisoners, Andy. many film techniques were used through out the film as a clever way of
conveying main themes. This essay is going to examine how Darabont used camera angles and
colour effectively in this film to portray the idea of power. The use of camera angles was a clear
way of defining a characters personality. The warden, Norton, is often seen from a low angles
which highlights his high status in the prison and his authority. Your arse belongs to me . This
effective way of showing Norton s position of power allows the audience to understand the
significance of him. The prisoners, however are frequently shown from a high angle which... Show

When Andy plays music we see the prisoners shown form a bird s eye view, this is another
camera angle used to display the prisoners as small and insignificant. The camera angles used by
Darabont allow the audience to see the status of the characters. As the audience we get an
instant look into who is a in control and who isn t. While Andy is inside Shawshank we do not
see many variations of colour, mainly just shades of grey. these dull, lifeless colours highlight
the prisoners lack of power and for most of the prisoners, their lack of hope. Being contained in
those dull prison walls and obeying Norton completely shows that the prisoners do not maintain
any form of control in the situation they are in. The grey boring tones of the prison represent
how the prisoner are expected to act, dull, lifeless and without and opinion. The colours
Darabont has used show how insitutionalised the prisoners become. When Brooke s is released
these dull colours are also shown, emphasizing how he has become insitutionalised. This
contrasts against the colours shown during the reunion of Andy and Red. The audience no
longer sees grey, depressing colours, but instead sees the bright sand and vibrant colours of the
pacific ocean. This shows the audience how Andy is no longer controlled by the conformity of
prison life, has regained power and is now, finally free. both camera angles and use of colour were
effective ways of portraying the idea of power.

The Weak-Form Efficiency of The GCC Markets
An Empirical Analysis on The Weak Form Efficiency of The GCC Markets Applying Selected
Statistical Tests Rengasamy Elango, Mohammed Ibrahim Hussein This paper tests for market
efficiency across the seven stock markets in the GCC (Gulf Co operation Council) countries. The
GCC countries, of late, have been striving to strengthen their capital markets by introducing various
innovative changes in relation to listing, regulatory, trading and settlement norms in order to
improve transparency and informational efficiency. Using daily indices of the above markets
between October 2001 and October 2006 and Kolmogorov Smirnov test, we find that all the above
seven markets reject the null hypothesis that the returns follow a normal distribution.... Show more

Even though deviations will occur and there will be periods when securities are over or
undervalued, these anomalies are expected to disappear as quickly as they appeared, thus making it
almost impossible to profit from them consistently. The weak form of market efficiency theorizes
that the current price does not reflect fair value and is only a reflection of past prices. It further
states that the future price cannot be determined using past or current prices. The semi strong form
of market efficiency theorizes that the current price reflects all readily available information. This
information might include annual reports, annual filings, earnings reports, announcements, and
other relevant information that can be readily gathered. The strong form efficiency states that the
stock prices reflect all information from historical, public and private sources, so that no investor
can realize abnormal rate of return. Though theoretical literature talks of market efficiency, in
practical terms the market is not perfectly efficient. Anomalies do exist and there are investors and
traders who outperform the market. So, the EMH has very important implications for both investors
and authorities that regulate and control the market. 2 Electronic copy available at: http://ssrn.com

Comparison Of Battlefield And I Could Fall In Love
Poetry is a form of writing that can make a reader feel a collection of different emotions. Poetry
has evolved into songs and is used by many artists today to make the audience feel the message
they are trying to transmit. Nowadays, poetry and song lyrics are very similar as they are trying
to convey emotions and have an impact on their intended audience. The song, Battlefield by Lea
Michele is more poetic and artistic than the poem, I Could Fall in Love by Grace Hays, because of
the use of similes, extended metaphor, and end rhyme. Both the song, Battlefield and the poem, I
Could Fall in Love, have the same theme throughout the writing. The theme of both pieces is
frustration in a relationship and how it is having an impact on the... Show more content on

The thought of one sentence continuing onto the next line creates a very specific tone and
message throughout the piece. Enjambment is used in the poem when it says, I hope you know
the effect / that you are having on me (Hays lines 31 32). There are several lines with
enjambment in the poem and this causes the piece of writing to have a certain flow and a different
reading effect. Another poetic device the poem uses is a very straight forward writing style. From
the start of the poem, the reader knows exactly what the author is feeling and the emotions that they
speaker is trying to convey. This is very important to the poem because there had to be something
in the writing that makes the reader want to keep reading. The article, Is Poetry Dead, says, These
days, poetry is institutionalized. Everyone can write it. But if you want a lot of people to read
it, or at least the Right Interested Persons, there are a few choked channels of Reputable
Publications. Or you can just spray it liberally onto the Internet and hope it sticks (Petri 1). This
quote really emphasizes that poetry has to have something special about it that attracts people and
keeps them interested. Another poetic device used in the poem, I Could Fall in Love, is
alliteration. Although it is not used several times, it is used when the author says I get goose
(Hays line 18). Besides these three poetic devices, there are not any others present in the poem
which is why the song is more artistic and poetic than the

Food Inc Essay
The film I watched was titled Food, Inc. This film examines the food industry and the industrial
production of the many products we eat today (meats, grains, and vegetables). This film is trying to
explain how agribusiness is producing food that is not healthy. In the film they also assess how
todays agribusiness is harmful to the environment and abusive to the animals and workers. This film
examines where the foodwe eat is coming from, how it is being produced, and who is producing it.
They film is diving into how few giant corporations are basically controlling the growth, processing
and sale of food in this country. In the film they give a statistic, which states that the top 4 meat
producing companies in the country are responsible for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The primary purpose of this film was to explain the source of the food we eat and how it is
produced. I think the film did a good job explaining how the food we eat is produced. In addition
to that the film did a good job explaining the food companies and how they produce and market
their products. I was also able to learn how these food companies treat the animals and the workers
they are using. Essentially this film explained how the food companies produce their products, the
reason why they produce their product in such methods, and the way they treat the animals and their

The Backlash Against Serial And Why It s Wrong
In his passionately written article The Backlash Against Serial and Why It s Wrong, author
Conor Friedersdorf comes to the podcast s defense following the harsh criticisms that have been
thrown at Serial since its debut. Serial is a spinoff series from parent podcast This American
Life, which details the investigation of a brutal 1999 murder involving high school seniors of
the Baltimore area. Friedersdorf s piece not only comes to defend Serial s honor, but it also
fights back and grapples with the disparaging comments thrown at the podcast. In particular, the
accused transgressions from fellow writers Jay Caspian Kang in his own work Serial and White
Reporter Privilege and Jeff Yang s post from online news outlet Quartz. In my judgement,
Friedersdorf does an excellent job refuting Kang s and Yang s opposing views and persuading his
audiencethat Serial is innocent of the accused wrongdoings because of his straightforward
approach, his many examples to support his claims, and his thorough knowledge of the material.
What are these wrongdoings you ask? Kang claims that Serial is not so much about the cold case it
is investigating, but more so the producer and narrator, Sarah Koenig s, fixation on the case. He
also believes that while Koenig may be well intentioned, she is interpreting and making assumptions
on facts of the lives of people within minority communities involved with the case. Another writer,
Yang asserts that This American Life s method of narrative

Rocky Mountain Lander s Peak
The painting by Albert Bierstadt Rocky Mountain, Lander s Peak is truly magnificent. Its high
horizon line portrays a wide, vast piece of land containing a Native American village besides a lake,
sitting below the mountains in the background. The atmospheric perspective is present here with
the mountains being painted lighter, and not as detailed, than the rest of the painting. There is a
pretty prominent presence of a one point perspective, with the vanishing point being the light, oasis
looking, waterfall in the distance. The colors vibrancy are dependent on the clouds in the sky,
being it is clearly not a bright and sunny day, giving a more realistic feel to the whole composition.
The focus point, the waterfall, is painted with bright

Vitamin D and Athletic Performance Essay
Good nutrition and its role in positively affecting athletic performance has become more and more
evident almost daily. Specific macro and micronutrients are better understood as to their specific
functions within the body and from that how they can influence the body s ability to perform while
under duress. An example of such would be the stress of athletic performance. Vitamin D, which is
also referred to as cholecalciferol, is one of the fat soluble vitamins that have been attributed to
influencing athletic performance. However, vitamin D is not as much a performance enhancing
nutrient in the sense that when taken in higher amounts it will aid athletic performance, but rather
when in deficient amounts it can hinder athletic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many factors influence how much sunlight exposure individuals receive and thus impact the
amount of Vitamin D that the body can synthesize. Latitude, season of the year, time of day,
sunblock, melanin content of the skin, age, and clothing are a few of these factors. Cannell and
associates describes that individuals who train and/or compete above the 35 degree latitude
marker, which is half of the United States and all of Canada and Europe, do not receive enough
sun exposure to synthesize enough Vitamin D, especially during the fall and winter seasons 2.
Others who are at risk are those who engage in indoor sports or train primarily indoors, such as
gymnasts, indoor track and field athletes, basketball players, and wrestlers to name a few. There is
also a surprisingly high amount of Vitamin D deficiency described in Miami, Florida because of
the extensive use of sunblock 3.
Vitamin D Deficiency The definition of Vitamin D deficiency is changed almost yearly, as the
laboratory levels which determine what is an adequate or inadequate level of vitamin D in the
blood serum are changing as well 2, 4. Recent research studies have determined that ideal levels
of vitamin D are at or above 50 ng·mL 1 from 30 ng·mL 1, which was previously thought to
be adequate levels within the blood. This is problematic for several reasons, but one of the most
critical reasons is that the number of diseases caused at least in part by vitamin D are on the rise and

Branding Theory Essay
Department of Management
Student Name: Guillermo Reig (known as Bill)
Student ID: 129382236
Programme: International Marketing
Introduction
This essay will attempt to describe and explain how organizations use branding theory and practice
to help develop, establish and maintain their positions in both existing and potential markets. To do
so it will be structured into four chapters that will be supported by examples:
1.What is a brand and why they matter.
2.How to develop a brand.
3.How to establish and maintain a brand.
4.How to develop establish and maintain brands in existing and potential markets.
What is a brand and why they matter
What is a brand? According to the American Marketing Association (AMA) a brand is a name,
term, sign, symbol, or design, or a combination of them, intended to identify the goods and services
of one seller or group of sellers and to differentiate them from those of competition (AMA, 2004).
These identifiable elements are called brand elements.
According to Robert Scott, author of Fighting the brand wars, a brand is any name, logo, phrase,
or slogan that sticks with the public and evokes a particular product or service (Scott, 2002).
Brands evolve and over time they have become part of our everyday life and have left the
traditional notion of being what represented a company or product name. From the 1366 Stella
Artois logo that is still being used to the 2004 action camera GoPro that uses its customers as
branding ambassadors all

  • 2. Comparing Hinduism And Islam Many people tend to confuse Muslims from Hindus and vice versa. After visiting each place of worship and examining each person individually, and listening to each person speak so highly about their religion and culture, you can clearly distinguish between the two. They have many similarities and differences, which establish a relationship between the two. Although in the past there has been many disputes over the two, this is due to their dissimilarities. The most common dispute between the two are because of the gods. Hinduism, think that gods are present in everything and anything while Islambelieves in the holiness of Allah alone. The Islamic religions follows five pillars from the prophet. 1. Testament that there is one God and Muhammad is his messenger; 2. prayer five times daily mainly before sunset and after; 3. fast during Ramadan you can eat after sunset; 4. charity to the poor at least 2.5% of their overall wealth; 5. Pilgrimage journey to the holy place in India, the Mosque. The goal of Hinduism is to break the cycle of rebirth, in attempt to attain salvation. On the other hand, the goal of the Islamic religion is to fulfill their responsibility of life by following the Quran and Hadith, and to live life with compassion towards all of Gods creations. When it comes to the place of worship, both religions differ in regards to statues and pictures. Shiva Vishnu contained many statues of their gods and it is a common practice to have these images. Although, ISOM does not contain any drawings, paintings, or statues regarding their gods. God cannot be seen, but sees all. They only have calligraphy and the temple is angled in such a way that it faces Mecca. Islam comes from the Arabic root word of Salema which translates to peace, submission, and obedience. Islam is submission to the will of God and obedience to His rules. Ray Freeark LAWSUIT OVER THE ACCIDENT With the help of a lawyer named Ray Freeark, Jerry files a lawsuit on April 18, 1972, against the State of Illinois hoping to collect damages in the sum of $25,000. His case is built on the fact that because of the heavy rain over several days with the temperature dropping below freezing that night, the state of Illinois was negligent in permitting flood water to cover U.S. Route 50 where it crosses Silver Creek. Freeark argues that this area was dry and in good condition when Jerry went to the game and that, following the same route back, with little or no rain falling, he had no idea that Silver Creek was on the verge of flooding due to rain that had fallen on the previous two days. • 5. Johannes Vermeer And Albert Bierstadt Two painters in history are known for their abilities to depict scenes in such realistic manners that you would never know they are actually producing paintings. These painters are named Johannes Vermeer and Albert Bierstadt. Both men came from different times and ethnic backgrounds. Dutchman, Johannes Vermeer was born in the year 1632 and passed away in 1675. Over his lifetime Vermeer used a style of paintingthat causing modern day historians and art lovers to struggle to figure out how he painted such realistic scenes that mimicked photographs. His style combined many pictorial depth cues while maintaining a strong sense of realism throughout the relatively few paintings he produced. Next is Prussian artist Albert Bierstadt, who was born in the year 1830 and passed away in 1903. Bierstadt is widely known for his highly realistic paintings of the American West landscape. Combining pictorial depth cues and visual realism were his specialties, while raising a large degree of illusionism in his paintings. In his lifetime Bierstadt produced over 500 paintings, most of which pertained to the places he visited on his journey across the United States. While Bierstadt and Vermeer were two very different men, their works shared common elements. Vermeer s The Music Lesson and The Concert and Bierstadt s Yosemite Valley share many of the same pictorial depth cues, realism, and even a sense of illusionism. In order to analyze how these works of art are alike, three questions must be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Views On The Historical Adam Essay Four views on the historical Adam consists of four prominent biblical scholars, who together, provided there understanding of scripture to a project that shed light on the figure identified in Genesis 1 as Adam. The four contributors to this book are: Dr. Denis Lamoureux, Dr. John Walton, Dr. C. John Collins, and Dr. William Barrick. Four Views on the Historical Adam visibly outlines four key views on the Genesis figure Adam held by evangelicals. The content provided is theologically consistent in some ways, while in others, scientifically plausible for the one who may be struggling to reconcile their interpretation of Adam with both modern science and with passages found in the Bible. As mentioned in the introduction there is a huge debate strong at present in Christianity on the life of Adam and Eve. Though many may not bother to care, as a tool in apologetics it is important that we are not caught off guard by the questions that exist regarding of their actual existence. So I ask, did they exist? If so, is it possible that Adam wasn t the first ever human? If not, how are we sinners because of his original sin? So to answer my first question, I will start off by providing Dr. Lamoureux position on the matter. Dr. Lamoureux very humbly asserts Adam never existed, and this fact has no impact whatsoever on the foundational beliefs of Christianity (p. 38). You should choose your kitchen utensils for enameled cast iron cookware very carefully, not because it is particularly prone to scratching, because it is not, but because it tends to chip if banged. Chipping of enameled cookware occurs when the enamel surface is shocked sufficiently to break the bond with the metal This type of cookware is becoming very popular again, largely because of the bright colors and designs in which it is available, unlike the dark raw cast iron versions that look unexciting even though they appear traditional and functional. That is what can come apart if too much sudden pressure is applied. Enamel chips it rarely scratches. • 9. Minimum Fines And Punishments For Drivers Every person that has operated a vehicle before, or has seen a vehicle operated, understands that while driving is a very convenient mode of transportation, it can also be extremely dangerous for vehicle operators and people near the roads which vehicles are operated on. These dangers are suppressed by the rules and regulations imposed by our governments. While some laws on roadways seem to be a nuisance to drivers, they are there for a reason, to keep us safe. One specific roadway area that the government is very concerned with keeping safe would be construction zones. Currently the fines and punishments for drivers who are ticketed and/or are involved in accidents in work zones are higher than they are in regular roadway areas. The question that this essay will explore is whether or not these higher fines are appropriate. Traffic laws are the jurisdiction of the state governments and because of this the laws imposed in work zones vary between each state. Currently in Michigan all fines for speeding are doubled in work zones. Speeding in Michigan s work zones can also result in increased points on your license. Furthermore, if you injure or kill a worker in a work zone in Michigan you face a $7,500 fine and 15 years in prison. About 32 other states also enforce the double fine laws in work zones, but 24 states with these laws require workers to be present. Missouri enforces one of the steepest penalties for worker endangerment, including up to a $10,000 fine. While these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Integration Between Peasant And Elite Populations Over the years, the ever evolving gastronomic identity that resulted from the fluid integration between peasant and elite populations helped shape an equally evolving Italian cultural identity. This glutinous parallel can be seen in the unique identities in the various regions ranging from the South to the North of Italy. Although many national stereotypes exist today from the macaroni eaters, to the red sauce that accompanies pasta, these can be explained by the exchange and the influence that globalization has on culture. • 12. Analysis Of Titus Andronicus By William Shakespeare In William Shakespeare s play, Titus Andronicus, the main character Titus Andronicus is a perfect example of the never ending cycle of vengeance. Throughout the play, Titus and Tamora seek resolution and closure through revenge. Throughout the play, these characters do not realize the resolution to their war over vengeance is making peace. When one person chooses to get back at the other this creates a never ending loop of revenge or topping one another s conflict. The key to success in this situation would be for one to make peace, and in this play you will discover how these characters brought closure to their cycle of never ending vengeance. In the play, the audience is shown how vengeance controls one s perspective. In other words, vengeance can impact and skew ones view on life and negatively impair one s decisions. The audience understands from the beginning of the play how Tamora s positive and sympathetic character is very evident; although, in Act II, her mind and actions has been dramatically skewed and twisted. Tamora s attitude has been overcome by vengeance as she says, But straight they told me they would bind me here Unto the body of a dismal yew, And leave me to this miserable death: And then they call d me foul adulteress, Lascivious Goth, and all the bitterest terms That ever ear did hear to such effect: And, had you not by wondrous fortune come, This vengeance on me had they executed. Introduction The Second World War was the bloodiest conflict in the history of humanity. It has largely affected the evolution of many nations throughout the whole globe. This essay focuses on the impact of World War II on the vector of development of Japanese state. In this paper, I will argue that the war had a huge effect on Japan and that it has fundamentally changed the future of the Asian state in a positive direction. Secondly, I will explain how the results of the war had changed the economic system of Japan. Thirdly, I will show that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, in my view, Cohen has underestimated the benefits that economic concentration on military, brought to the postwar Japanese economic development. In accordance with John Dower, during the war period, there was a huge increase in the production of machinery (252%), nonferrous metals (70%), steel (46%) and manufacturing (24%), which was extremely beneficial for the after war economic growth. Personally, I assume that Dower was right and without the rapid increase in these industries, Japan would not be able to achieve its postwar economic prosperity. A good verification of this argument is that after the war was over, many of the wartime companies (Toyota, Nissan, Normura Securities, Toshiba) were successfully transformed into peaceful and prosperous commercial corporations, which exist even today. Kenneth Pyle argues (?) that nationalistic and military goals of these companies were quickly replaced by commercial aims gun factories started to make sewing machines and optical vehicle manufactories began to produce cameras . Essentially, farms are no longer owned by farmers and the farmers become the laborers. Also, it sometimes is all or nothing for farmers. For one, some land can only be used for one crop, for example coffee, and if something goes wrong with the crop, farmers lose everything. Second, unskilled labor jobs are dwindling, so there might not be much else a farmer could do if something were to happen to their land. It seems that when crops do well, farmers should be making a lot of money, however, the food processors and distributors are the ones who make most of the profit. Because of this, farmers are left with pennies compared to what the others make. Farmers and consumers have fought to control the food system, but what other choice do they have than to support it? • 16. The Stock Market In 2001, it struck everybody as odd when a blue chip stock went bankrupt less than a year after it paid its top 5 executives a total of $282.7 million. The stock market is notorious for being seductively tricky; being the sole contributor to the making and breaking of many men. However, this time it was clear that this wasn t an ordinary unexpected decline. Enron Corporation, a former American energy company, had to have had something going on behind the scenes to cause the largest chapter 11 bankruptcy of its time. As the house of cards collapsed, it became clear that investors were blindsided by one of the largest instances of pump and dump stockfraud the market had ever seen. While it may be an enigma to many, the stock marketdoes have some simple ground rules that hold true almost all the time, no matter what stock one plans on investing in. The backbone of the stock market is generally coined buy low, sell high. This term is short and sweet, but it encompasses all that is required to make money in the stock market. To make money, all somebody has to do is buy shares of a stock when the price is low and undervalued, and then sell those shares when the price goes up. Ignoring brokerage fees and federal taxes, this is essentially all one has to do to make a profit; rinse and repeat. • 19. The Temptation Of The Sirens In Homer s Odyssey The poem The Sirens and the episode containing sirens in The Odyssey contain similarities that expose the theme of temptation. For instance, the sirens claim that their green isle is a place where one could rest forevermore in the poem, and they call to Odysseus as well, telling him how no one had passed the sirens without listening to them, and how they always received a great treat. Both of these examples show the sirens deception, how they are trying to fool men into thinking of a beautiful island with flowers and green grass when reality presents a manifest of death and evil, with each sirensitting atop a mound of bones. This helps prove the archetype of a temptress as well, because the sirens deceive the men into coming to their death by promising relief from strain and sweat they experience as they work. In the poem they especially seem to draw focus to the hard work of the men, which can help expose their exhaustion for them to take advantage of, as they claim here thou may rest from aching oar, and tells them to turn thy curved prow ashore . This helps to persuade the men further, and the addition of this temptation helps further prove the point of the sirens playing the role of a temptress. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During that year, some significant events took place that resulted to the beginning of a new era. In Mexico, a new political leader exerted the country towards entering the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade. Mexico made an alliance with the United States that would ultimately create a free trade zone stretching from Central America all the way to the North Pole. Rather than incorporating the movement of workers of North America into the alliance, the United States insisted on controlling its borders unilaterally in order to prevent the integration of its labor markets. This event lead to Congress passing the Immigration Reform and Control Act. Many of the immigrants entered America in search for work and a better life. As the immigration population increased, American citizens began to worry about the economy and their jobs, safety, and their health. The Porous Mexican Border The 700 mile long fence that was constructed along the United States Mexico border less than a month before the nation s population hit the 300 million mark, was not a coincidence. The United States Congress knew that there was a dramatic change in the face of the United States since the population hit 200 million in the year of 1967 and therefore voted to approve a bill, (HR 6061), that would limit immigration (Kesler and Bloemraad, 2010). As Giorgio Vasari once said about Raphael, Raphael was so gentle and so charitable that even animals loved him, not to speak of men. Effects Of The Wright Brothers Exoskeletons: From Arachnid To Human Humans have always had the ability to observe the ways of the world and then figure out how to improve our living with them. For example, Leonardo da Vinci, the Wright brothers and others watched birds and their patterns until they figured out a way to make pieces and parts into a flying machine. Their research has now become airplanes, and aircraft carriers. By simply seeing the world, they figured out a way to better human transportation. Since the beginning of time, humans have been flawed. Whether the flaws are internal like mental disabilities, or external like paraplegia, they have always existed. Sometimes people are born with these disabilities, other times they develop. Either way, we, as humans have one thing that we want to do: fix the problem at hand. The Wright brothers are a wonderful example of this. They wanted to change the way humans traveled from place A to place B, thus they found a solution. We are supposed to have equal rights under law. If we do that, we have done enough. said Ben Stein, an iconic commentator on political and economic issues. But is it enough? Of course everyone is not born equal but if we were to be alike under the law, does that mean inequalities are to disappear in households and in governments? If we re not supposed to be equal according to Ben, then where does inequality come from and what are the consequences of it? Jean Jacques Rousseau in The Basic Political Writings and Mary Wollstonecraft in A Vindication of the Rights of Woman serves to answers those questions. The two authors offer a very different assessment from each other on the matter but for me personally, I can relate to both sides of the argument. The author explains the deprivation by bluntly saying, [n]obody wants to give pigeons a job[;] / [p]arakeets, canaries, and parrots / have the market sewn up as far as that goes (Hernandez 1023). This is a very true statement. Even though Hispanics can be seen working at jobs, these jobs are frequently minimum wage for pay in which they cannot advance to higher positions. It is rare to see a Hispanic person working in an office in which blacks and whites are the dominant customers or employees. Also, this act of depriving is done within the school system. Often times a child with a Hispanic background is not given the opportunity to rise to his or her level of learning. They are often kept back and placed in lower level classes. As the author of Pigeons so clearly argues, Hispanics are not given as many opportunities to succeed by American society. Hernandez makes another clear argument statement with his poem Pigeons. He makes the point that his ethnic group is not accepted by many Americans. He asks a simple but strong question within his poem: When was the last time you saw a pigeon in someone s home? Brick is in a constant battle with himself throughout the whole story. This being because he has started drinking at all times so that he can hear a click in his head and become peaceful. The reason that he drinks is because he feels he is responsible for his friends Skipper s death. Brick s drinking is important to the play because it shows his disinterest in almost everything that occurs during the book. For example, while the will of Big Daddy s is being discussed, Brick is outside on the balcony having a drink. Gooper says to Maggie during this scene Why don t you go out there and drink with Brick? (Williams 149). This also is important because it shows that they characters in the play realize that Brick has no interest in anything besides his drink. Brick is an interesting character because he is the only one who does not thrive for Big Daddy s love, yet he is the only one who receives it. Brick can also be described as a character who is disgusted. He is disgusted with many events in this play. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof was heralded by some as the play in which homosexuality was at last to be presented without evasion (Bentley). This quote by critic Eric Bentley stands true because the idea of homesexuality in the play is another reason Brick is disgusted. He is disgusted with the world for the most part because nobody understand that his and Skipper s relationship was not a homosexual one.He states Why can t exceptional friendship, real, real, deep, deep friendship! between two men be respected as something clean and decent (Williams 117). This could be a reason that he is also sort of disgusted with women. Critic Jere Huzzard says Clearly both father and son had enjoyed a physical competency ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Essay On Boeing Executive Summary In fierce competition with Boeing, venture into VLA segment as a rather neglected segment by Boeing could pose as a strategic opportunity for Airbus which it could utilize to build a competitive advantage combined with its technological resources and capabilities. However, its assumptions of a drastic increase in VLAs demanded in next 20 years along with its ability to satisfy most of this are too optimistic. Provided that these assumptions (inc. breakeven points, initial order requirements) are normalized, A3XX is a project worthy to pursue for Airbus in order to exploit a neglected spot on the perceptional map long haul + big capacity. When we hold the market itself continues to grow as proposed in the case, this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We don t have a market risk premium value at hand for aviation sector but even if it is 15% the rate of return Airbus presumes then 3.9% + 0.84X(15 3.9) = 13.2. So the project seems feasible. However, when we apply the operating margin of 15% 20% as the source of cash flow per plane, we see that from 288 to 385 planes would be needed for a breakeven to compensate investment costs. If we also take into consideration of the fact that these payments will not be made all in the first year, each cash flow will need to be discounted based on real interest rate (3.9%) and the year in question. We can easily say, if the plane price is not appropriated accordingly each year, the breakeven point will go even farther away from what Airbus imagined. As for competition, Boeing had built approximately 85% of the industry s current fleet, which indicates the high experience and brand awareness of Boeing in the industry, which is a competitive advantage in terms of strong service level. 747 400 is the only model that can be seen as an alternative to the new Airbus VLA models. Boeing s 747 launch case indicates that this kind of decision to make for Airbus should based on long term projections. It can be seen as unnecessary for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Film Techniques in the Movie Shawshank Redemption Shawshank Redemption directed by Frank Darabont is a compelling film about the life of one of its prisoners, Andy. many film techniques were used through out the film as a clever way of conveying main themes. This essay is going to examine how Darabont used camera angles and colour effectively in this film to portray the idea of power. The use of camera angles was a clear way of defining a characters personality. The warden, Norton, is often seen from a low angles which highlights his high status in the prison and his authority. Your arse belongs to me . This effective way of showing Norton s position of power allows the audience to understand the significance of him. The prisoners, however are frequently shown from a high angle which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Andy plays music we see the prisoners shown form a bird s eye view, this is another camera angle used to display the prisoners as small and insignificant. The camera angles used by Darabont allow the audience to see the status of the characters. As the audience we get an instant look into who is a in control and who isn t. While Andy is inside Shawshank we do not see many variations of colour, mainly just shades of grey. these dull, lifeless colours highlight the prisoners lack of power and for most of the prisoners, their lack of hope. Being contained in those dull prison walls and obeying Norton completely shows that the prisoners do not maintain any form of control in the situation they are in. The grey boring tones of the prison represent how the prisoner are expected to act, dull, lifeless and without and opinion. The colours Darabont has used show how insitutionalised the prisoners become. When Brooke s is released these dull colours are also shown, emphasizing how he has become insitutionalised. This contrasts against the colours shown during the reunion of Andy and Red. The audience no longer sees grey, depressing colours, but instead sees the bright sand and vibrant colours of the pacific ocean. This shows the audience how Andy is no longer controlled by the conformity of prison life, has regained power and is now, finally free. both camera angles and use of colour were effective ways of portraying the idea of power. ... The Weak-Form Efficiency of The GCC Markets An Empirical Analysis on The Weak Form Efficiency of The GCC Markets Applying Selected Statistical Tests Rengasamy Elango, Mohammed Ibrahim Hussein This paper tests for market efficiency across the seven stock markets in the GCC (Gulf Co operation Council) countries. The GCC countries, of late, have been striving to strengthen their capital markets by introducing various innovative changes in relation to listing, regulatory, trading and settlement norms in order to improve transparency and informational efficiency. Using daily indices of the above markets between October 2001 and October 2006 and Kolmogorov Smirnov test, we find that all the above seven markets reject the null hypothesis that the returns follow a normal distribution.... Even though deviations will occur and there will be periods when securities are over or undervalued, these anomalies are expected to disappear as quickly as they appeared, thus making it almost impossible to profit from them consistently. The weak form of market efficiency theorizes that the current price does not reflect fair value and is only a reflection of past prices. It further states that the future price cannot be determined using past or current prices. The semi strong form of market efficiency theorizes that the current price reflects all readily available information. This information might include annual reports, annual filings, earnings reports, announcements, and other relevant information that can be readily gathered. The strong form efficiency states that the stock prices reflect all information from historical, public and private sources, so that no investor can realize abnormal rate of return. Though theoretical literature talks of market efficiency, in practical terms the market is not perfectly efficient. Anomalies do exist and there are investors and traders who outperform the market. So, the EMH has very important implications for both investors and authorities that regulate and control the market. 2 Electronic copy available at: http://ssrn.com /abstract=1026569 The rest of the paper is organized as follows: Section II, gives the theoretical background of the Random Walk ... • 44. Comparison Of Battlefield And I Could Fall In Love Poetry is a form of writing that can make a reader feel a collection of different emotions. Poetry has evolved into songs and is used by many artists today to make the audience feel the message they are trying to transmit. Nowadays, poetry and song lyrics are very similar as they are trying to convey emotions and have an impact on their intended audience. The song, Battlefield by Lea Michele is more poetic and artistic than the poem, I Could Fall in Love by Grace Hays, because of the use of similes, extended metaphor, and end rhyme. Both the song, Battlefield and the poem, I Could Fall in Love, have the same theme throughout the writing. The theme of both pieces is frustration in a relationship and how it is having an impact on the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The thought of one sentence continuing onto the next line creates a very specific tone and message throughout the piece. Enjambment is used in the poem when it says, I hope you know the effect / that you are having on me (Hays lines 31 32). There are several lines with enjambment in the poem and this causes the piece of writing to have a certain flow and a different reading effect. Another poetic device the poem uses is a very straight forward writing style. From the start of the poem, the reader knows exactly what the author is feeling and the emotions that they speaker is trying to convey. This is very important to the poem because there had to be something in the writing that makes the reader want to keep reading. The article, Is Poetry Dead, says, These days, poetry is institutionalized. Everyone can write it. But if you want a lot of people to read it, or at least the Right Interested Persons, there are a few choked channels of Reputable Publications. Or you can just spray it liberally onto the Internet and hope it sticks (Petri 1). This quote really emphasizes that poetry has to have something special about it that attracts people and keeps them interested. Another poetic device used in the poem, I Could Fall in Love, is alliteration. Although it is not used several times, it is used when the author says I get goose (Hays line 18). Besides these three poetic devices, there are not any others present in the poem which is why the song is more artistic and poetic than the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. The Backlash Against Serial And Why It s Wrong In his passionately written article The Backlash Against Serial and Why It s Wrong, author Conor Friedersdorf comes to the podcast s defense following the harsh criticisms that have been thrown at Serial since its debut. Serial is a spinoff series from parent podcast This American Life, which details the investigation of a brutal 1999 murder involving high school seniors of the Baltimore area. Friedersdorf s piece not only comes to defend Serial s honor, but it also fights back and grapples with the disparaging comments thrown at the podcast. In particular, the accused transgressions from fellow writers Jay Caspian Kang in his own work Serial and White Reporter Privilege and Jeff Yang s post from online news outlet Quartz. In my judgement, Friedersdorf does an excellent job refuting Kang s and Yang s opposing views and persuading his audiencethat Serial is innocent of the accused wrongdoings because of his straightforward approach, his many examples to support his claims, and his thorough knowledge of the material. What are these wrongdoings you ask? Kang claims that Serial is not so much about the cold case it is investigating, but more so the producer and narrator, Sarah Koenig s, fixation on the case. He also believes that while Koenig may be well intentioned, she is interpreting and making assumptions on facts of the lives of people within minority communities involved with the case. Another writer, Yang asserts that This American Life s method of narrative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Specific macro and micronutrients are better understood as to their specific functions within the body and from that how they can influence the body s ability to perform while under duress. An example of such would be the stress of athletic performance. Vitamin D, which is also referred to as cholecalciferol, is one of the fat soluble vitamins that have been attributed to influencing athletic performance. However, vitamin D is not as much a performance enhancing nutrient in the sense that when taken in higher amounts it will aid athletic performance, but rather when in deficient amounts it can hinder athletic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many factors influence how much sunlight exposure individuals receive and thus impact the amount of Vitamin D that the body can synthesize. Latitude, season of the year, time of day, sunblock, melanin content of the skin, age, and clothing are a few of these factors. Cannell and associates describes that individuals who train and/or compete above the 35 degree latitude marker, which is half of the United States and all of Canada and Europe, do not receive enough sun exposure to synthesize enough Vitamin D, especially during the fall and winter seasons 2. Others who are at risk are those who engage in indoor sports or train primarily indoors, such as gymnasts, indoor track and field athletes, basketball players, and wrestlers to name a few. There is also a surprisingly high amount of Vitamin D deficiency described in Miami, Florida because of the extensive use of sunblock 3. Vitamin D Deficiency The definition of Vitamin D deficiency is changed almost yearly, as the laboratory levels which determine what is an adequate or inadequate level of vitamin D in the blood serum are changing as well 2, 4. Recent research studies have determined that ideal levels of vitamin D are at or above 50 ngО‡mL 1 from 30 ngО‡mL 1, which was previously thought to be adequate levels within the blood. This is problematic for several reasons, but one of the most critical reasons is that the number of diseases caused at least in part by vitamin D are on the rise and ... • 49. Branding Theory Essay Department of Management Student Name: Guillermo Reig (known as Bill) Student ID: 129382236 Programme: International Marketing Introduction This essay will attempt to describe and explain how organizations use branding theory and practice to help develop, establish and maintain their positions in both existing and potential markets. To do so it will be structured into four chapters that will be supported by examples: 1.What is a brand and why they matter. 2.How to develop a brand. 3.How to establish and maintain a brand. 4.How to develop establish and maintain brands in existing and potential markets. What is a brand and why they matter What is a brand? According to the American Marketing Association (AMA) a brand is a name, term, sign, symbol, or design, or a combination of them, intended to identify the goods and services of one seller or group of sellers and to differentiate them from those of competition (AMA, 2004). These identifiable elements are called brand elements. According to Robert Scott, author of Fighting the brand wars, a brand is any name, logo, phrase, or slogan that sticks with the public and evokes a particular product or service (Scott, 2002). Brands evolve and over time they have become part of our everyday life and have left the traditional notion of being what represented a company or product name. From the 1366 Stella Artois logo that is still being used to the 2004 action camera GoPro that uses its customers as branding ambassadors all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
