Cobra Beer
This strategic report analyses several different factors in regards to Cobra Beer. The analysis
was focused on the UK market and beer industry. The first section of the report looks at analysing
Cobra Beer s external environment via a microenvironment analysis. It accomplishes this in the
form of a PESTEL and Porter s 5 Forces analysis. PESTEL was examined in regards to the Beer
industry and it looked at several issues, and analysed the critical issues in detail. Porters 5 forces
looked at the industry s sources of rivalry. Issues and problems were viewed for both with solutions
seen at the end of the report. The external environment subsequently concluded that the beer
industry is a very attractive but not a profitable one, as it s comfortable to enter but tough to
construct profits.
Analysis of the internal environment was later examined through the resource based view. This
looked at the resources and capabilities of Cobra Beer and analysed what resources and
capabilities they have, and how they come together to create a competitive advantage. Issues and
problems were viewed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first was the financial crisis in 2008, which concluded that debts were the reasons why the

a culture clash between the two companies and how they ve overcome it. The final crisis was in
regards to Lord Bilimoria being named in panama papers, which was linked to tax avoidance.
Ethics was linked to this issue and a utilitarian approach and deontological approach was looked
and concluded that ethics in regards to tax avoidance is a grey

New York University Admission Essay Sample
New York University is absolutely attractive to me for its vibrant location the center of New York
City. Besides studying in classrooms, students in NYU can go outside to explore New York
through programs like Cohen Arts Culture Experience. Discovering internship opportunity on Wall
Street or enjoying an opera in Broadway, I believe the life in NYU is colorful and exhilarating.
Also, as a businessstudent, Stern is beneficial for me to plan career development through
Wasserman Center for Career Development, from accessing the NYU CareerNet to hosting career
fairs. The close proximity to potential internships of top cooperations will allow me to supplement
my knowledge from classrooms with actual and practical learning. Additionally, the social... Show

In the summer vacation before senior year, I was fortunate enough to gain an internship opportunity
to become an assistant accountant in Johnson Johnson Cooperation, which inspires me to pursue
accounting as my major in the university. In Stern s accounting fraternity, I can participate in a
professional business environment to discuss up to date accounting issues and social activities,
like The Corporate Mingle, Ethics in the Workplace, and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance.
Learning some basic accounting knowledge, I think accounting is a subject not only required rich
knowledge from all aspects but also built the foundation of other business fields. The curriculums
in NYU are designed to convey both the concentration of accounting and liberal arts courses so
that I can learn from different perspectives to meet the high requirement in my future career path.
Helping me build a close connection with either top companies or Stern alumni, the accounting
society sponsors various events, such as visitations to accounting firms, the Spring Semester
Speaker Series about accounting related topics, and panels like Career Month Plus and Careers in
the Small to Medium Sized Firms . In NYU, I believe I can fully discover my potential to thrive

Oxymoron In Romeo And Juliet
Oxymoron originates from the Greek word oxumЕЌron, neuter of oxumЕЌros, meaning pointedly
foolish. An oxymoron is a figure of speech in which two opposite ideas are joined to create an
effect. The common oxymoronic phrase is a combination of an adjective followed by a noun with
contrasting meanings. Oxymoronproduces a dramatic effect in both prose as well as poetry.
Example: Why, then, O brawling love! O loving hate!/O anything, of nothing first create!/O heavy
lightness! Serious vanity!/Misshapen chaos of well seeming forms!/Feather of lead, bright smoke,
cold fire, sick health!/Still waking sleep, that is not what it is!/This love feel I, that feel no love in
this./Dost thou not laugh? (I.i. 172 179). William Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet ... Show more

Within the context, Romeo begins to create an overly dramatic sorrow that gives listeners an
introduction to the lovesick character Romeo embodies. With tears augmenting the fresh
morning s dew, Romeo thinks that by [shutting] up his windows, [locking] fair daylight out, and
[making] himself an artificial night, he is merely facing the wrath of an unforgiving
personification of love (I.i.128 and 135 136). This allows listeners to assume that he is
heartbroken and gradually prepares them for the wave of emotion that rises over the play s
script. By providing seven lines of contradicting phrases, such as a brawling love or a loving
hate, Shakespeare captures the audience s attention by truly expressing the pain and passion that
hides behind Romeo s eyes (I.i.172). When one thinks of love, they do not think of fights, and
the same applies with the latter; no one sees hate as a quality that will love. Then why does
Shakespeare employ this technique? The answer is simple, yet absolutely ingenious. Using
oxymorons allows Shakespeare to open the inner conflicts of Romeo. Romeo is clearly a mess
because he is in love, but is often depressed because of it. This paradox that troubles the poor love
seeking soul is represented by the oxymorons Romeo recites. Although a feather of lead,

First Vatican Council Research Paper
Pope Pius IX called the First Vatican Council in 1868. It was the Roman Catholic Church s
twentieth ecumenical council. It was held in the Vatican City. The purpose of this council was to
attend to issues such as secularism, rationalism, and materialism. This council explored the
principle of papal infallibility as well.
The political environment surrounding The First Vatican Council was chaotic, due to the
unification of Italy and Franco Prussian War. Led by the kingdom of Prussia, the Franco Prussian
War was a conflict, between the Second French Empire and Prussia which had supremacy over
much of Germany. French troops abandoned their defence of the Papal States after suffering a
heavy loss to the Prussians. Italian patriots were then able to seize the Papal States and Rome and
unify all of Italy. Pope Pius IX then lost all his global authority, disband the council, and locked
himself in the walls of the Vatican.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An uprising of secularization, rationalism, and materialism in the late seventeenth and eighteenth
century, was a period known as the Enlightenment. Philosophers believed that religion had no place
in science, society, or government. Rationalism and secularism were still standing against faith, as
people believed the truths of Christian faith to be opponents of the advancement of humans.
Materialism was also still influencing many due to its growing emphasis on the matter of the world,
rather than the spirit of the world. Monarchs were even being persuaded into thinking that the
Enlightenment was what the Church needed, and to keep the Church in low

Exon Junction Complex
Social activities are the most fundamental behaviors for many animal species to survive and require
memory formation. Particularly, patients with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) exhibit several
core symptoms, including impaired social activities and repetitive behaviors, often combed with
intellectual disability (ID). Memory formation entails new protein synthesis from mRNAs stored at
the synapses responding to local stimuli. Neuronal transcripts interact with various mRNA binding
proteins (RBPs) and the RBPs ensure the targeted mRNAs to be translated only when receiving
proper environmental signals. Significant accomplishments have identified over 1000 RNA binding
proteins (RBPs) crucial for accurate post transcriptional RNA processing.... Show more content on

Our group is in the ideal position to address these problems. We are the first group to
demonstrate that the EJC factor, RBM8a, regulates anxiety like behaviors and neuronal
plasticity1. We have developed the RBM8a conditional knockout (cKO) mice and our preliminary
data demonstrated that region specific knockout of RBM8a impairs social interaction and affect
fear memory. Additionally, RNAseq uncovered that RBM8a modulates a large set of genes
overlapping with autism risk genes, which are involved in neurotransmission and synaptic
plasticity. However, current knowledge gaps include how RBM8a regulates memory and synapse
development, which physiological neuronal substrates are directly regulated by RBM8a in vivo
during learning behaviors, and what happens to these transcripts when the RBM8a level is altered.
Our hypothesis is that RBM8a regulates activity dependent neuronal plasticity and controls
specific pools of transcripts in neurons that are activated by social interaction and learning
activities. Building on a novel discovery of an essential role of RBM8a in social recognition, our
goal in this proposal is to identify targets that are most relevant for RBM8a dependent neuronal
defects and determine the effect on RNA substrates of RBM8a in the brain. To achieve this goal, the
following aims will be

PAPA JOHN S PIZZA AND ECONOMIES OF SCOPE 2
Papa John s Pizza was founded in 1984 by John Schnatter, whose goal was to make high quality
pizzas and deliver them something unusual back then. This company is typically ranked currently
as the third largest national pizza chain, with franchises expanding outside of the
United States. When a business is expanding, one thing worthwhile to study is economies of
scope, in order to see why and how the expansion happened in looking at daily operations and
average costs to produce these fine pizzas.
An economy of scope is a proportionate saving gained by producing two or more distinct goods
when the cost of doing it is less than the cost of producing each good separately. Economies of
scope (it s used in the plural) focus on the fact that the average total cost of production decreases
as a result of increasing the number of different but compatible goods produced. In other words, as
the company increases the number of items it offers at very little extra cost to itself, the average cost
to produce each item drops, making all the items more affordable.
A study of the menu in a Papa John s restaurant demonstrates how economies of scope work.
Mr. Schnatter (Papa John, as he calls himself in his commercials) started the business model with a
few pizzas that he made in the broom closet of his father s bar. He started with

The Endangered Species Act Essay
The Endangered Species Act
Introduction:
Long term survival of a species depends on its ability to adapt to changing environmental conditions
(Murphy, 1994). Genetic diversity within a species, which has taken 3.5 billion years to evolve,
makes adaptations to these changing environments possible. Unfortunately, the rate of extinction of
genetically diverse organisms is rapidly increasing, thus reducing this needed biodiversity, largely
due to the human impacts of development and expansion. What was an average of one extinction
per year before is now one extinction per hour and extinct species numbers are expected to reach
approximately one million by the year 2000 (WWW site, Bio 65). As a result governmental and
societal action must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The penalties involved in violation of these laws include fines up to 100,000 dollars and one year
in prison. Organizational violations include 200,000 dollar fines and confiscation of all equipment
used (WWW site, ESA). Since its induction, the Endangered Species Act (ESA) has entered 967
species on its list and has 421 more labeled as possible candidates and 4,000 others as (species of
concern (WWW site, What is..). Over the years, only 22 species have been removed with a third
of them becoming extinct regardless, a third recovering fully, and a third put on mistakably
(WWW site, What is..). In terms of the taking aspect of the law is where the controversy begins.
The Takings Clause of the fifth amendment states, nor shall private property be taken for public
use, without just compensation (Pendley, 1995). This means that any endangered species on an
owner s private land must be compensated for. Regrettably, the ESA of 1973 fell short of its high
expectations and has completely failed up to this point from a multitude of discovered flaws in the
authorization of the law from the start.
Problems with the ESA of 1973:
The problems which have arisen since 1973 seem to be endless. First of all, the time needed to put
an endangered species on the list is much too long. By the time most species get on the list, they are
on the brink of extinction. Second, private

Symbolism In The Virgin Of Mamaz
In present day America, the Virgin of Guadalupe is held in high regard for her strength, love,
and hope that she emanates to Mexican Americans. One can say that she is the symbol and role
model of Mexico, or even a part of the private flag of Mexicans.1 However, the symbolism
behind the Virgin of Guadalupe is ambiguous; it holds both positive and negative meanings.2 The
Virgin could also be seen as an image of oppression towards Indians and women during the era of
colonization in the New World. To combat those views, Jeanette Rodriguez considers the Virgin as
a beacon of hope for those who were marginalized. Richard Rodriguez also argued that the Virgin
created a new and lasting identity for Mexican Americans despite the fact that the Spanish
converted them into Catholics. That new identity is explained in Ada Maria Isasi Diaz s essay, and
highlights the significance of having solidarity within the Latino community and identifying and
fighting against the root causes of oppression. Although the Virgin historically carried negative
views of oppression among Latinos, she can also be a symbol of maternal love, strength, and hope
to fight against oppression that was and is present in American society. Jeanette Rodriguez believes
that the people today are not conquered by Spanish religion; rather, they are taking parts of it to
make it into their own religion and create a new identity among the Mexican Americancommunity.
While several churches today still reject the Virgin in

Holliday s Dreamgirls
The 1982 version of Dreamgirls showed a great deal of emotion, and power. The way the
Holliday performed definitely made the seen and atmosphere seem believe in my eyes. It was
important for Holliday to emphasis the emotion she was supposed to be feeling throughout the
play, because of the fact that it was a Broadway musical. In musicals, since there is generally no
mics being used, the performers have to project their voices to be heard. During musicals it is also
acceptable to overdramatize a scene to ensure that the emotions the character should be feeling is
portrayed accurately. I don t feel that Holliday s style would work on film, because of the fact that
she over performs so much. While it is fine to do this in stage plays, seeing this

Essay about Taser Use Guidelines
1. Philosophy
There has recently been a demand for the use of less than lethal weapons in the community, and
country at large. To meet this demand, the Asheville Police Department will be adopting the use of
Tasers. Though Tasers are potentially lethal, they can be used more safely that a handgun, yet are
more incapacitating than chemical spray. The use of Tasers will be explained with training as
technology and laws progress. The most important thing is that the use of Tasers always falls within
the law. Any actions taken should be proportionate to the situation, and the use of forceshould be no
more than what is absolutely necessary. Officers must be prepared to show that they acted
reasonably and justly. They must stay... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A specialist will also be hired to inform the department of new technological advances, and these
will be taken into consideration during any training. Revised training will also be considered
annually, based on the event of aforementioned new developments. Training will focus on
dispelling myths about the use and effect of Tasers, communication with the community concerning
their use, and their place in the force continuum.
3. Scope of Operation
Much dispute has arisen over the place of Tasers in the use of force continuum. Training will
address this issue more thoroughly, but the policy of this department will be that Tasers fall into
the category of impact weapons. They are to be considered possibly lethal, and fall between the
category containing canines, chemical agents and batons, and the category of lethal force. They
are to be used only when a suspect is being actively aggressive towards an officer, and when the
use of a lower force weapon is deemed unsafe for the attending officer(s). Medical issues are a
concern when using Tasers. When a suspect has the spike of the Taserimplanted in them, they must
be given medical attention immediately after being restrained to remove the spikes and assess any
possible injuries. Certain people must be given special considerations, including the elderly, the
mentally disabled, the very young, and pregnant women (an inclusion in the very young). People

Description Of Social Class On Someone s Life Dramatically
Description of Social ClassSocial status or placement can impact someone s life dramatically.
Social class determines where people will live, how well educated they may be, their occupation,
their physical health, their mental health, the forms of recreation they enjoy, their social networks,
their political views, their attitudes toward childrearing, and how long they may live. (Vissing,
2011) It also plays a big role in how people view themselves, as well as how others view them.
Social classcan also play a role in the potential of how successful someone can be. Class is a large
group of people who share common economic resources that influence the kind of lifestyle they are
able to live. (Giddens, Duneier, Appelbaum, Carr 195)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It provided data on how often gender, race, and social class inequalities were discussed in the
classroom and textbooks. While gender stratification was discussed the most, it was clear that
all types of social stratification still exist today. 59 percent of the gender and socialization
citations directed the readers to the inequality sections of the textbook, particularly the gender
chapter. This suggests that socialization plays more of an explanatory role in gender inequality
in introductory textbooks than it does for race or class. (Puentes, Gougherty 163) If this
information was not available in textbooks or discussed in classrooms, then you could go as far
to say that social stratification did not exist. Another article I researched talked about how most
authors focused on gender rather than social class. There is a significant lack of information
pertaining to social class and a greater emphasis on gender. However, differences in socialization
by class were not used to explain class inequality or the reproduction of the class structure; instead,
the focus tended to be on the uneven distribution of economic resources and opportunities. When
class socialization was discussed, it was likely to be several paragraphs instead of the several
pages that were devoted to gender socialization in the gender chapters. (Puentes, Gougherty 164)

Benjamin Franklin s Influence on America
According to History.com More than 200 years after his death, Franklin remains one of the most
celebrated figures in U.S. history. His image appears on the $100 bill, and towns, schools and
businesses across America are named for him. but what s so special about Benjamin Franklin? In
this modern age of technology it s hard to imagine a day when people went without knowing the
weather forecast or looking up a fresh recipe online. It s even harder to imagine living without fire
departments, hospitals, or even electricity. And as Americans it s hard to imagine a day when our
country didn t let women vote or used slaves. Ben Franklin lived in that day and the suffering he
saw around him led him to try to resolve some new problems. Benjamin Franklinstarted out as a
runaway with only one skill: printing; before long he found a way to provide important information
to the public through his almanacs, he became a respected leader in his local community and in the
scientific community, and later in his life he played an important role in American Revolution,
With a lot of hard work and a commitment to helping others Benjamin Franklin became one of the
most influential people in American history. From the start Benjamin Franklin was a problem
solver. Not long after becoming an apprentice at his brothers printing shop when he was only 12,
Franklin found a way to voice his opinion on controversial topics like the treatment of women.

Human Inquiry vs Everday Assumptions
Much of the publics conceived notions about the world and the reality in which we innately live,
can be explained by contrasting our assumptions against various types of inquiry and research.
The process of developing an explanation through testing, investigating, and collecting data that
either refutes or supports the original claim is known as inquiry, or the process of researching.
While that which is presupposed, or a belief that is used to interpret the world around us, is an
assumption. Naturally, we regularly formulate our beliefs based upon our assumptions and make
inferences based from these assumptions, however, today this is often done with little regard to
critical thinking or reason. Furthermore, out of naivetГ© we seek to refute conclusions to that
which we do not want to belive, pursuing a form of bias from those holding assumptions similar to
what we desire; for in such manner, we justify our rejection of the undesirable. On the contrary, we
hastily accept an assumption that supports a conclusion we perceive desirable, while giving little
mind to the validity of the assumption, or the awareness of a becomingly tolerant society toward
improper inquiry. This is human nature, it s unavoidable, but the ignorance thereof, serves as the
catalyst to our own servility by standing as the largest hinderance toward proper inquiry and
research. Humans can be placed in any situation and we will start to give it some kind of meaning
in hopes to gain a basis for

A Diary That Affected The World By Anne Frank
Anne Frank wrote a diary that affected the world by showing she was a normal girl who wanted to
be her true self. Her diary was the only place she could really be herself (Frank 1). Anne s dream
was that her diary would one day become a book. She wrote that she wanted to be famous and to
help others. Her influence on World War II was based on her life experiences in hiding, and her
diary.
Frank s life was full of hard times and persecution. She was born on July 12, 1929. She received
her famous diary on her 13th birthday, the same day of her very first diary entry (Frank 1). It
was wartime 1942 in Amsterdam and Adolf Hitler was at his height of power (Byers 36). Hitler
had given Germany the scapegoat they had been looking for: the Jews. World War II was raging
across Europe, making its way toward changing the life of Anne Frank. The Nazis had taken much
of Europe and there was barely a place the Jews could go without fear of being persecuted. The
Nazi special forces, the SS Army, had taken away many of the Jewish families in Amsterdam and
were offering a cash reward to anyone who turned in a Jew. The Nazis isolated the Jews from
daily life: They only allowed the Jews to walk, gave them a curfew, banned them from
swimming and going to the movies, and made them wear a yellow star so they could quickly be
identified. Hitler fanned the flame of an age old prejudice until it exploded into a violent hatred
(Lewis 4). The icing on the cake for the Jews was when Hitler started

Naturalistic Dualism Gertler
In her essay Brie Gertler defends the idea of naturalistic dualism. Naturalistic dualism means the
view that mental states are non physical. Gertler begins with an argument made by Descartes in
his Mediations. She expands and defends this argument. She then begins by describing a version
of physicalism called the identity thesis, which every type of mental state is identical to some
type of physical state. Her example was relating pain to c fibers. If a theory says that pain is
identical to C fiber stimulation, then pain is impossible without C fiber stimulation. Therefore, if
mental states such as pain can possibly occur even if one has no physical state, then the identity
thesis is false. Gertler defends dualismby arguing that it is possible

Retrograde Amnesia Essay
Retrograde Amnesia, being a common type of Amnesia, is the one most people are familiar
with. (King, 2016) Retrograde Amnesia is the loss of past memories. If someone falls and hits
their head, the damage caused by that accident could cause the person to forget that the accident
even occurred. (Pg. 234) For example, a friend once decided to try snowboarding, and did not
learn how to stop before she went to the top of the hill. She went down, picking up speed, and did
not notice the small cliff at the bottom until it was too late to turn away. She decided to fall so she
would not go over the cliff, and while she was successful at that, she unfortunately hit her head on a

However, she could not tell you what she had just finished eating, where she was, or what year it
was. Her fall had caused Anterograde Amnesia, and she could no longer make new memories.
Her Doctors decided that the damage was extensive, and with her age, there was no chance of her
regaining her ability to create new memories. We also discovered what looked like damage caused
by a stroke, which had gone unnoticed by us. Before the fall, she had some difficulty remembering
recent events, which was most likely caused by damage from the stroke. When she fell, more
damage occurred in the same area, leaving her with Anterograde Amnesia. Both of those events
damaged the part of the brain that encodes. Without the ability to encode, she could no longer
make new memories. (King, 2016 Pg. 233,234) Where Does Memory Loss Occur?
Since memory is layered, loss can occur in many different areas. (King, 2016 Pg. 216, 217) In
Retrograde Amnesia, long term memory is what is affected. Long term memory is more permanent
than any other type of memory. It allows for lasting memories, that can sometimes be stored for
life. Long term is complex, and the brain uses many components in order to successfully create
memories in this section. When you think about that wonderful beach trip you took several years

Rule number 3: Pick the right ship. Before approaching their world, be sure to select the right
craft. Now, since the adventure of radar on their planet as well as satellites, and cameras many
carried on their personal communication devices you must accept that you will be spotted at
some point. While there are various models out there many claiming greater stealth or high
speed capacity, we recommend what has worked well in the past, a saucer shaped craft. While
this may seem a bit clichГ© and somewhat impractical given the laws of aerodynamics, the fact
is, if you are spotted and reported, odds are you will be dismissed as a hoax or wild imagining and

Rule number 4: Know your no fly zones. Again this is crucial in your survival. As a general rule
avoid major cities and high population areas as it is far easier for your activities to be noticed.
Also, as a general rule try to avoid areas designated for military purposes or are experiencing
conflict by one nation against another, as those are sure to bring the supersonic air craft and their
missiles. In fact, what we recommend is to take you conduct your research in remote places, areas
which do not have a high population and any type of formal air patrols. This will decrease your

The Culture Of The Peoples From The Highlands Of Guatemala
Internally displaced peoples from the highlands of Guatemala, as in much of Latin America, often
seek refuge in the outskirts of their nations capitals. In Guatemala City and in other populous
Guatemalan cities throughout the country, families have made their lives anew after years of
violence and tragedy. The history of mass migration towards city centers and their outskirts can be
traced to the overthrow of the democratically elected president Jacobo Arbenz, in the year 1954,
which was the catalyst for a 36 year long civil war in the Central American nation. Many of the
countries indigenous Mayan population faced and still face high levels of discrimination, genocidal
violence, inadequate housing, coupled with high infant mortality rates, and low levels of literacy
and education attainment, their plight is one that is well documented. The indigenous populations
have remained in a more or less stagnate position, until recent upturns in the 21st century. In
addition, in the year 1992, Rigoberta Menchu, an indigenous Mayan woman was awarded the
Nobel Peace Prize for her activism and account of the extent of the Guatemalan genocide. The
Guatemalan republic one with high levels of biodiversity, and extremely abundant in natural
resources such a woods, jades, and minerals, I argue, has lead it s poor and its disenfranchised on a
road towards high ecological and environmental disaster, through misuse of their military,
inadequate policy, and planning when it comes to the dangers

Les Demoiselles D Avignon
Les Demoiselles d Avignon Les Demoiselles d Avignon (The Young Ladies of Avignon, and
originally titled The Brothel of Avignon) is a large oil painting of 1907 by the Spanish artist
Pablo Ruiz Picasso (1881 1973). The work portrays five nude female prostitutes from a brothel on
AvinyГі Street in Barcelona. Each figure is depicted in a disconcerting confrontational manner and
none are conventionally feminine. The women appear as slightly menacing and rendered with
angular and disjointed body shapes. Two are shown with African mask like faces and three more
with faces in the Iberian style of Picasso s native Spain, giving them a savage aura. In this
adaptation of Primitivism and abandonment of perspective in favor of a flat, two dimensional...

While he already had a considerable following by the middle of 1906, Picasso enjoyed further
success with his paintings of massive over sized nude women, monumental sculptural figures
that recalled the work of Paul Gauguin and showed his interest in primitive (African,
Micronesian, Native American) art. He began exhibiting his work in the galleries of Berthe
Weill (1865 1951) and Ambroise Vollard, (1866 1939) quickly gaining a growing reputation and
a following amongst the artistic community of Montparnasse. Picasso became a favorite of the
American art collectors Leo Stein (1872 1947), and his sister Gertrude Stein (1876 1946),

work. Picasso painted portraits of both Gertrude Stein and her nephew Allan Stein.] Gertrude
Stein began acquiring Picasso s drawings and paintings and exhibiting them in her informal
Salon at her home in Paris. At one of her gatherings in 1905 he met Henri Matisse (1869 1954),

Essay On Outsourcing American Jobs
Outsourcing American Jobs
Outsourcing, no word in today s workforce is so loved or hated. Depending on who you are it is
the greatest thing ever or an evil act by money hungry businesses at the expense of American
workers. But what is the truth? Is it good? Is it bad? Is it both? Perhaps more importantly, what is it
exactly?
Many people think that outsourcing is jobs that were held in this country going somewhere else.
That is not entirely accurate. Outsourcing is actually one company paying another to do some
work for it. Outsourcing can be as simple as paying a company to paint your building. Or it can be
as complex as paying a company to control your human resources department.
When you think of outsourcing it is probably ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The save don?t pass the savings on to you and pocket the money. This can be good for employees
at the company (probably more so the higher you go up) and it can be good for stock holders if it
is a publicly traded company. Sometimes the companies can reinvest the money back into the
company and use it for marketing or innovations which can intern help the company make more
money.
Saving money isn?t the only reason to outsource though. In Dash?s article the number two
reason given was ?Having access to experts? that was given by 38% of the companies. But what
does that mean? Simply put it means that good help can be hard to find. And if you?re a
company that needs to have something done it may be hard to wait and see if you can find
people that are able to do the work for you. It may be easier to outsource to a company that already
has skilled employees trained to do the work.
In the days were most outsourced jobs were low wage and for unskilled labor most people didn?t
pay much attention. Or no one brought it too there attention. When a McDonalds closes not
many people think about the people who are loosing there jobs. I mean who in the U.S. wants to
work a minimum wage job anyways right. But when the jobs are of people who are making forty
to eighty thousand a year people sit up and pay attention. Middle class hard working people are

The Career Of A Neonatal Nurse
Neonatal Nursing Steven Amsterdam once said, Nursing demands vigilance about people. The
sights and smells that a patient offers, their movements and their offhand comments all
contribute crucial information to understanding what they need. Training and experience
heighten one s ability to see what needs to be seen. As a child I was given adult responsibilities,
which began when my very first nephew was born. By the age of 7 I was changing his diapers,
making him bottles, and caring for him and i couldn t think of any better career than getting to
work with babies all day. I always carry the compassion and desire to help others and nothing
would be more rewarding than being able to put my skills to action. The career of a Neonatal
Nurse is exciting and challenging, because one is in charge of all new babies being born. The

Conformity In Walt Disney s Mickey Mouse Club
The Mickey Mouse Club is a television show that was created by Walt Disney and was produced
by Walt Disney Productions. The show was first aired by ABC from 1955 to 1960 and
intermittently aired from 1950 to 1996. The Mickey Mouse Club was a variety show for children
that included a carton, music and talent, a news segment and even a comedy segment. The cast
members were called Mouseketeers. Of the Mouseketeers, the teenage boys and girls faced the
most challenges. While teens in the 1950 s had a great understanding of conformity in terms of
appearances and popularity, it was the Mickey MouseClub that reinforced conformity and an
obsession with appearances. In the 1950s, on shows like the Mickey Mouse Club, girls were

role messages ever present and stressing conformity and acceptance through appearance and

happiness were attainable, providing a comforting picture in world where the reality was much
more in flux. Being attractive and well mannered was a small but important part of growing up in

the listener. Behind this twisted phrasing, it makes the Politician look like he is not initially
interested in what he is saying. Orwell stresses strongly, that metaphors are used to created imagery

Cognitive Dissonance In Friends
Cognitive dissonance means feeling tension when our thoughts and beliefs are inconsistent. An
example of this is when people smoke even though they are aware of the consequences that can

Jeff Fort Research Papers
Jeff Fort and the Black P. Stone Nation Chicago, IL is a city that is well known for its high
violent crime rate. Over the years, gangs such as the Black P. Stone Nation played a huge role in
Chicago s crime. Jeff Fort was the founder of the Black P. Stones, and controlled Chicago s south

Immunization Tour
Immunizations, in my opinion, are one of the most crucial ways to protect yourself and others in

The Immunization Tour notably focused and relied on the implications of safety. Since I

The Effects Of Rape Culture And The Psychological Post...
When discussing genocide, it is simpler to discuss the overall impact of the collective to create an
elaborate visualization of the horrific events incurred by genocide, than to focus on the impact of a
single genocidaire. The victims of genocidal violence are given a respectable amount of attention,
because they are the victims of atrocities and they deserve justice and recognition for their
sufferings. Due to the recent influx on research into the sociological effects of rapeculture and the
psychological post traumatic effects of rape, research on the utilization of rape in genocidehas
become increasingly popular among academics of all disciplines. Unfortunately, little research
has been done on how genocidaires, who were once regular civilians of a state, electively join in
the execution of mass violence through committing rape and murder. Modern sociologists and
psychologists have yet to define a collection of definitive characteristics of the genocide rapist, as
the majority of research is done on individual perpetrators have had contact with the criminal
justice system and are likely incarcerated. While extensive research has been done on the
characteristics of living victims, the genocidaire rapist, however, is unlikely to be individually
targeted and charged with sexual assault, let alone be analyzed by behavioral scientists for
diagnostic research. Assuming that not all people are inherently born with the will to kill and

Analysis Of The Book The Scarlet Letter
As I began my summer reading assignment I wasn t too amused at the beginning chapters
of the Scarlet Letter, With Hawthorne throwing around words like quietude I wasn t sure if
it was truly the difference in his old English speech, or if he was tossing in obscure words just to
send people looking through their dictionaries to find out if he had, in fact, made the word up, or
not. But, as I delved deeper into Hawthorn s work I found a brilliant story with some of the
richest characters I had ever had the pleasure of reading about. Of the four major characters in
the book, I empathized with Arthur Dimmesdale the most. Dimmesdale is man of God
imprisoned by his own beliefs, and because of this he lives his life wallowing in guilt, despair,
and pain. Dimmesdale wants to be a father to Pearl, but to do so it would jeopardize his social
standing in the Puritan culture and his career. In his confliction, Dimmesdale feels that he
should punish himself; he takes away what little humanity he has left just so he can feel he has
appeased God. I can t help but feel sorry for a man who lives in such a heartbreaking pool of
despair and self loathing.
Where Dimmesdale s character really shines, though, is in the Election Day sermon scene
and the scenes leading up to the Election Day sermon. After leaving the forest Dimmesdale is
filled with new life and motivation. He now has purpose, something to live for. Later, in the
third scaffold scene, Dimmesdale

SeasonBecause the experiment is only take place in 1 hour the season will not affect the results. If
I had a whole year to carry this experiment out I would do the experiment throughout different
seasons to see what affect the seasons has on the results.

In transect 1 quadrat number 3 there is an anomaly, the sequence is broken 81, 82, 89, 84, this
could have been because Shelby pointed the light meter up into the sky instead of the 90 degree
angle. If I had more time then we would have repeated this result. Most of the other results are
accurate and reliable because looking at the graph there are no completely out of place results,
there are a few that do not fit with the line of best fit very well but ecology is very hard to get
perfect as you cannot make the environment do what you want to do. Some of the light
measurements may not be accurate because when we did the experiment the light was changing
and was very unpredictable, sometimes the sun would go behind a cloud which meant the light
measurement would be low when actually most

The first section of the report looks at analysing Cobra Beer s external environment via a microenvironment analysis. It accomplishes this in the form of a PESTEL and Porter s 5 Forces analysis. PESTEL was examined in regards to the Beer industry and it looked at several issues, and analysed the critical issues in detail. Porters 5 forces looked at the industry s sources of rivalry. Issues and problems were viewed for both with solutions seen at the end of the report. The external environment subsequently concluded that the beer industry is a very attractive but not a profitable one, as it s comfortable to enter but tough to construct profits. Analysis of the internal environment was later examined through the resource based view. • 3. New York University Admission Essay Sample New York University is absolutely attractive to me for its vibrant location the center of New York City. Besides studying in classrooms, students in NYU can go outside to explore New York through programs like Cohen Arts Culture Experience. Discovering internship opportunity on Wall Street or enjoying an opera in Broadway, I believe the life in NYU is colorful and exhilarating. Also, as a businessstudent, Stern is beneficial for me to plan career development through Wasserman Center for Career Development, from accessing the NYU CareerNet to hosting career fairs. The close proximity to potential internships of top cooperations will allow me to supplement my knowledge from classrooms with actual and practical learning. Additionally, the social... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the summer vacation before senior year, I was fortunate enough to gain an internship opportunity to become an assistant accountant in Johnson Johnson Cooperation, which inspires me to pursue accounting as my major in the university. In Stern s accounting fraternity, I can participate in a professional business environment to discuss up to date accounting issues and social activities, like The Corporate Mingle, Ethics in the Workplace, and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance. Learning some basic accounting knowledge, I think accounting is a subject not only required rich knowledge from all aspects but also built the foundation of other business fields. The curriculums in NYU are designed to convey both the concentration of accounting and liberal arts courses so that I can learn from different perspectives to meet the high requirement in my future career path. Helping me build a close connection with either top companies or Stern alumni, the accounting society sponsors various events, such as visitations to accounting firms, the Spring Semester Speaker Series about accounting related topics, and panels like Career Month Plus and Careers in the Small to Medium Sized Firms . In NYU, I believe I can fully discover my potential to thrive and become a person who makes the most responsible decision in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Oxymoron In Romeo And Juliet Oxymoron originates from the Greek word oxumЕЌron, neuter of oxumЕЌros, meaning pointedly foolish. An oxymoron is a figure of speech in which two opposite ideas are joined to create an effect. The common oxymoronic phrase is a combination of an adjective followed by a noun with contrasting meanings. Oxymoronproduces a dramatic effect in both prose as well as poetry. Example: Why, then, O brawling love! O loving hate!/O anything, of nothing first create!/O heavy lightness! Serious vanity!/Misshapen chaos of well seeming forms!/Feather of lead, bright smoke, cold fire, sick health!/Still waking sleep, that is not what it is!/This love feel I, that feel no love in this./Dost thou not laugh? (I.i. 172 179). William Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within the context, Romeo begins to create an overly dramatic sorrow that gives listeners an introduction to the lovesick character Romeo embodies. With tears augmenting the fresh morning s dew, Romeo thinks that by [shutting] up his windows, [locking] fair daylight out, and [making] himself an artificial night, he is merely facing the wrath of an unforgiving personification of love (I.i.128 and 135 136). This allows listeners to assume that he is heartbroken and gradually prepares them for the wave of emotion that rises over the play s script. By providing seven lines of contradicting phrases, such as a brawling love or a loving hate, Shakespeare captures the audience s attention by truly expressing the pain and passion that hides behind Romeo s eyes (I.i.172). When one thinks of love, they do not think of fights, and the same applies with the latter; no one sees hate as a quality that will love. Then why does Shakespeare employ this technique? The answer is simple, yet absolutely ingenious. Using oxymorons allows Shakespeare to open the inner conflicts of Romeo. Romeo is clearly a mess because he is in love, but is often depressed because of it. This paradox that troubles the poor love seeking soul is represented by the oxymorons Romeo recites. • 5. First Vatican Council Research Paper Pope Pius IX called the First Vatican Council in 1868. It was the Roman Catholic Church s twentieth ecumenical council. It was held in the Vatican City. The purpose of this council was to attend to issues such as secularism, rationalism, and materialism. This council explored the principle of papal infallibility as well. The political environment surrounding The First Vatican Council was chaotic, due to the unification of Italy and Franco Prussian War. Led by the kingdom of Prussia, the Franco Prussian War was a conflict, between the Second French Empire and Prussia which had supremacy over much of Germany. French troops abandoned their defence of the Papal States after suffering a heavy loss to the Prussians. Italian patriots were then able to seize the Papal States and Rome and unify all of Italy. Pope Pius IX then lost all his global authority, disband the council, and locked himself in the walls of the Vatican.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An uprising of secularization, rationalism, and materialism in the late seventeenth and eighteenth century, was a period known as the Enlightenment. Philosophers believed that religion had no place in science, society, or government. Rationalism and secularism were still standing against faith, as people believed the truths of Christian faith to be opponents of the advancement of humans. Materialism was also still influencing many due to its growing emphasis on the matter of the world, rather than the spirit of the world. Monarchs were even being persuaded into thinking that the Enlightenment was what the Church needed, and to keep the Church in low ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Exon Junction Complex Social activities are the most fundamental behaviors for many animal species to survive and require memory formation. Particularly, patients with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) exhibit several core symptoms, including impaired social activities and repetitive behaviors, often combed with intellectual disability (ID). Memory formation entails new protein synthesis from mRNAs stored at the synapses responding to local stimuli. Neuronal transcripts interact with various mRNA binding proteins (RBPs) and the RBPs ensure the targeted mRNAs to be translated only when receiving proper environmental signals. Significant accomplishments have identified over 1000 RNA binding proteins (RBPs) crucial for accurate post transcriptional RNA processing.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our group is in the ideal position to address these problems. We are the first group to demonstrate that the EJC factor, RBM8a, regulates anxiety like behaviors and neuronal plasticity1. We have developed the RBM8a conditional knockout (cKO) mice and our preliminary data demonstrated that region specific knockout of RBM8a impairs social interaction and affect fear memory. Additionally, RNAseq uncovered that RBM8a modulates a large set of genes overlapping with autism risk genes, which are involved in neurotransmission and synaptic plasticity. However, current knowledge gaps include how RBM8a regulates memory and synapse development, which physiological neuronal substrates are directly regulated by RBM8a in vivo during learning behaviors, and what happens to these transcripts when the RBM8a level is altered. Our hypothesis is that RBM8a regulates activity dependent neuronal plasticity and controls specific pools of transcripts in neurons that are activated by social interaction and learning activities. Building on a novel discovery of an essential role of RBM8a in social recognition, our goal in this proposal is to identify targets that are most relevant for RBM8a dependent neuronal defects and determine the effect on RNA substrates of RBM8a in the brain. Papa John s Pizza And Economies Of Scope Essay PAPA JOHN S PIZZA AND ECONOMIES OF SCOPE 1 Papa John s Pizza and Economies of Scope MGT407, Unit 4 Patten University PAPA JOHN S PIZZA AND ECONOMIES OF SCOPE 2 Papa John s Pizza was founded in 1984 by John Schnatter, whose goal was to make high quality pizzas and deliver them something unusual back then. This company is typically ranked currently as the third largest national pizza chain, with franchises expanding outside of the United States. When a business is expanding, one thing worthwhile to study is economies of scope, in order to see why and how the expansion happened in looking at daily operations and average costs to produce these fine pizzas. An economy of scope is a proportionate saving gained by producing two or more distinct goods when the cost of doing it is less than the cost of producing each good separately. Economies of scope (it s used in the plural) focus on the fact that the average total cost of production decreases as a result of increasing the number of different but compatible goods produced. In other words, as the company increases the number of items it offers at very little extra cost to itself, the average cost to produce each item drops, making all the items more affordable. A study of the menu in a Papa John s restaurant demonstrates how economies of scope work. Mr. Schnatter (Papa John, as he calls himself in his commercials) started the business model with a few pizzas that he made in the broom closet of his father s bar. He started with ... • 9. The Endangered Species Act Essay The Endangered Species Act Introduction: Long term survival of a species depends on its ability to adapt to changing environmental conditions (Murphy, 1994). Genetic diversity within a species, which has taken 3.5 billion years to evolve, makes adaptations to these changing environments possible. Unfortunately, the rate of extinction of genetically diverse organisms is rapidly increasing, thus reducing this needed biodiversity, largely due to the human impacts of development and expansion. What was an average of one extinction per year before is now one extinction per hour and extinct species numbers are expected to reach approximately one million by the year 2000 (WWW site, Bio 65). Since its induction, the Endangered Species Act (ESA) has entered 967 species on its list and has 421 more labeled as possible candidates and 4,000 others as (species of concern (WWW site, What is..). Over the years, only 22 species have been removed with a third of them becoming extinct regardless, a third recovering fully, and a third put on mistakably (WWW site, What is..). In terms of the taking aspect of the law is where the controversy begins. The Takings Clause of the fifth amendment states, nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation (Pendley, 1995). This means that any endangered species on an owner s private land must be compensated for. Regrettably, the ESA of 1973 fell short of its high expectations and has completely failed up to this point from a multitude of discovered flaws in the authorization of the law from the start. Problems with the ESA of 1973: The problems which have arisen since 1973 seem to be endless. First of all, the time needed to put an endangered species on the list is much too long. • 10. Symbolism In The Virgin Of Mamaz In present day America, the Virgin of Guadalupe is held in high regard for her strength, love, and hope that she emanates to Mexican Americans. One can say that she is the symbol and role model of Mexico, or even a part of the private flag of Mexicans.1 However, the symbolism behind the Virgin of Guadalupe is ambiguous; it holds both positive and negative meanings.2 The Virgin could also be seen as an image of oppression towards Indians and women during the era of colonization in the New World. To combat those views, Jeanette Rodriguez considers the Virgin as a beacon of hope for those who were marginalized. Richard Rodriguez also argued that the Virgin created a new and lasting identity for Mexican Americans despite the fact that the Spanish converted them into Catholics. That new identity is explained in Ada Maria Isasi Diaz s essay, and highlights the significance of having solidarity within the Latino community and identifying and fighting against the root causes of oppression. Although the Virgin historically carried negative views of oppression among Latinos, she can also be a symbol of maternal love, strength, and hope to fight against oppression that was and is present in American society. Jeanette Rodriguez believes that the people today are not conquered by Spanish religion; rather, they are taking parts of it to make it into their own religion and create a new identity among the Mexican Americancommunity. It was important for Holliday to emphasis the emotion she was supposed to be feeling throughout the play, because of the fact that it was a Broadway musical. In musicals, since there is generally no mics being used, the performers have to project their voices to be heard. During musicals it is also acceptable to overdramatize a scene to ensure that the emotions the character should be feeling is portrayed accurately. To meet this demand, the Asheville Police Department will be adopting the use of Tasers. The use of Tasers will be explained with training as technology and laws progress. The most important thing is that the use of Tasers always falls within the law. This suggests that socialization plays more of an explanatory role in gender inequality in introductory textbooks than it does for race or class. (Puentes, Gougherty 163) If this information was not available in textbooks or discussed in classrooms, then you could go as far to say that social stratification did not exist. Another article I researched talked about how most authors focused on gender rather than social class. There is a significant lack of information pertaining to social class and a greater emphasis on gender. However, differences in socialization by class were not used to explain class inequality or the reproduction of the class structure; instead, the focus tended to be on the uneven distribution of economic resources and opportunities. • 16. Human Inquiry vs Everday Assumptions Much of the publics conceived notions about the world and the reality in which we innately live, can be explained by contrasting our assumptions against various types of inquiry and research. The process of developing an explanation through testing, investigating, and collecting data that either refutes or supports the original claim is known as inquiry, or the process of researching. While that which is presupposed, or a belief that is used to interpret the world around us, is an assumption. Naturally, we regularly formulate our beliefs based upon our assumptions and make inferences based from these assumptions, however, today this is often done with little regard to critical thinking or reason. Furthermore, out of naivetГ© we seek to refute conclusions to that which we do not want to belive, pursuing a form of bias from those holding assumptions similar to what we desire; for in such manner, we justify our rejection of the undesirable. On the contrary, we hastily accept an assumption that supports a conclusion we perceive desirable, while giving little mind to the validity of the assumption, or the awareness of a becomingly tolerant society toward improper inquiry. This is human nature, it s unavoidable, but the ignorance thereof, serves as the catalyst to our own servility by standing as the largest hinderance toward proper inquiry and research. She received her famous diary on her 13th birthday, the same day of her very first diary entry (Frank 1). It was wartime 1942 in Amsterdam and Adolf Hitler was at his height of power (Byers 36). Hitler had given Germany the scapegoat they had been looking for: the Jews. World War II was raging across Europe, making its way toward changing the life of Anne Frank. The Nazis had taken much of Europe and there was barely a place the Jews could go without fear of being persecuted. The Nazi special forces, the SS Army, had taken away many of the Jewish families in Amsterdam and were offering a cash reward to anyone who turned in a Jew. The Nazis isolated the Jews from daily life: They only allowed the Jews to walk, gave them a curfew, banned them from swimming and going to the movies, and made them wear a yellow star so they could quickly be identified. Gertler begins with an argument made by Descartes in his Mediations. She expands and defends this argument. She then begins by describing a version of physicalism called the identity thesis, which every type of mental state is identical to some type of physical state. Her example was relating pain to c fibers. If a theory says that pain is identical to C fiber stimulation, then pain is impossible without C fiber stimulation. Before the fall, she had some difficulty remembering recent events, which was most likely caused by damage from the stroke. In addition, these inhibitors have also been shown in vitro to induce redifferentiation of cancer cells by restoring the function of the sodium iodine symporter (NIS), and thus, they may restore the iodine uptake by the refractory TCs [30]. Vorinostat, a small molecule inhibitor of HDAC, has been studied in small phase I and II trials in patients with refractory DTCs; however, the results were clinically disappointing as the RR was 0, 56 % of patients had stable disease for only 6 months, and TG did not correlate with tumor response. But it is not clear if this redifferentiation of the tumor will improve the outcome for patients with refractory TCs. The sights and smells that a patient offers, their movements and their offhand comments all contribute crucial information to understanding what they need. Training and experience heighten one s ability to see what needs to be seen. As a child I was given adult responsibilities, which began when my very first nephew was born. By the age of 7 I was changing his diapers, making him bottles, and caring for him and i couldn t think of any better career than getting to work with babies all day. The show was first aired by ABC from 1955 to 1960 and intermittently aired from 1950 to 1996. The Mickey Mouse Club was a variety show for children that included a carton, music and talent, a news segment and even a comedy segment. The cast members were called Mouseketeers. Of the Mouseketeers, the teenage boys and girls faced the most challenges. While teens in the 1950 s had a great understanding of conformity in terms of appearances and popularity, it was the Mickey MouseClub that reinforced conformity and an obsession with appearances. In the 1950s, on shows like the Mickey Mouse Club, girls were defined by their bodies and had to strive to meet strict standards of beauty. By making gender role messages ever present and stressing conformity and acceptance through appearance and behavior, The Mickey Mouse Club strengthened white, middle class values as well as a sense of security in America s youth. The Mickey Mouse Club attempted to suggest that security and happiness were attainable, providing a comforting picture in world where the reality was much more in flux. On the 26th of October, in the McNamara Alumni Center, I volunteered for two hours with the Fall 2017 Immunization Tour. My role in the tour, along with three other nursing students, was to stand in the entrance and show people where to go. Even in this small act, I felt as though I was making a difference. This experience was valuable to me in my future actions to become a nurse. My experience at the Fall 2017 Immunization Tour was impacted significantly through the efforts of safety, teamwork, and communication. The Immunization Tour notably focused and relied on the implications of safety. • 40. The Effects Of Rape Culture And The Psychological Post... When discussing genocide, it is simpler to discuss the overall impact of the collective to create an elaborate visualization of the horrific events incurred by genocide, than to focus on the impact of a single genocidaire. The victims of genocidal violence are given a respectable amount of attention, because they are the victims of atrocities and they deserve justice and recognition for their sufferings. Due to the recent influx on research into the sociological effects of rapeculture and the psychological post traumatic effects of rape, research on the utilization of rape in genocidehas become increasingly popular among academics of all disciplines. Unfortunately, little research has been done on how genocidaires, who were once regular civilians of a state, electively join in the execution of mass violence through committing rape and murder. Modern sociologists and psychologists have yet to define a collection of definitive characteristics of the genocide rapist, as the majority of research is done on individual perpetrators have had contact with the criminal justice system and are likely incarcerated. While extensive research has been done on the characteristics of living victims, the genocidaire rapist, however, is unlikely to be individually targeted and charged with sexual assault, let alone be analyzed by behavioral scientists for diagnostic research. Assuming that not all people are inherently born with the will to kill and commit sexual violence, it s important to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Analysis Of The Book The Scarlet Letter As I began my summer reading assignment I wasn t too amused at the beginning chapters of the Scarlet Letter, With Hawthorne throwing around words like quietude I wasn t sure if it was truly the difference in his old English speech, or if he was tossing in obscure words just to send people looking through their dictionaries to find out if he had, in fact, made the word up, or not. But, as I delved deeper into Hawthorn s work I found a brilliant story with some of the richest characters I had ever had the pleasure of reading about. Of the four major characters in the book, I empathized with Arthur Dimmesdale the most. Dimmesdale is man of God imprisoned by his own beliefs, and because of this he lives his life wallowing in guilt, despair, and pain. Dimmesdale wants to be a father to Pearl, but to do so it would jeopardize his social standing in the Puritan culture and his career. In his confliction, Dimmesdale feels that he should punish himself; he takes away what little humanity he has left just so he can feel he has appeased God. I can t help but feel sorry for a man who lives in such a heartbreaking pool of despair and self loathing. Where Dimmesdale s character really shines, though, is in the Election Day sermon scene and the scenes leading up to the Election Day sermon. After leaving the forest Dimmesdale is filled with new life and motivation. He now has purpose, something to live for. Later, in the third scaffold scene, Dimmesdale ...
