Classical Music And Its Influence On The Culture Of...
Poetic Dissonance Classical music is earnest music engendered in the traditions of Western music.
Many great composers were born in that era kenned as the mundane practice period. For my classical
project I went to the Music Center s Walt Disney concert hall. It has had many famous classical
performances over the past few years. I witnessed something unique and enlightening when I entered
the orchestra performance and heedfully aurally perceived all of this solemn music. I discerned many
famous composers this evening. Their denominations were Paul Hindemith, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky,
Benjamin Boone, Dmitri Shostakovich, and Arturo Marquez conducted by Thomas Loewenheim. The
pieces performed were Symphonic Metamorphosis on Themes of Carl Maria von Weber; Allegro,
Turandot: Scherzo, Andantino, March, Concert for Violin in D major; Allegro Moderato, Waterless
Music, Symphony in D minor; Revolutionary Petrograd, Razliv, Aurora, Dawn of Humanity, and
Danzon. I optically discerned many people and instruments being played all over the theater. Mostly
everyone I optically discerned was professionally dressed up. The instruments being played were the
violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, bass
trombone, tuba, percussion, and piano. The most fascinating thing I cerebrated was intriguing was that
they endeavored integrating water as an instrument in the waterless music piece and it genuinely
sounded congenial. When I entered the

My Thoughts On My Life
Ok so I needed a little help to focus my thoughts so I used google and found a blog that was very
helpful. The writer Kat Lee said, one of my greatest fears in life is that I will be the same person at 76
that I am at 36; that I will have the same hangups as an older woman that I had as a younger woman. I
think that is my same fear. When I moved to Oklahoma I wanted to reinvent myself, I didn t want to
be the same girl with the same hangups both in life and spiritually. I thought new place fresh start.
As you already know it takes a lot for me to reach out and put myself on full display. I have a
difficulty opening up and putting my feelings/thoughts into words. From the short while I ve known
you I feel like you are a person I can break down those walls and be truly honest without the fear of
judgement.
I have so many questions to ask you about your life. You are not much older than me but you have
lived life. You married a wonderful man at a young age and you have a sweet little boy. You are on fire
for the Lord and it shows through your actions. So maybe you can help me clear some of my obstacles
that are in my life by learning from you who might have already cleared or gone through those
obstacle in your life.
I can be a very critical toward myself and get overwhelmed by the things I need to change or improve
on and end up doing nothing to change. I want to be the best person I can be. I go to my mom but she
gives those generic mom answers. I want an outside

DBQ Nationalism And Sectionalism
Nicole Vindollo Mrs. Segal US History I/Pd. 9 23 March 2015 The Era of Good Feeling: The Effects
and Consequences of Nationalism and Sectionalism In 1815, shortly before the start of James Monroe
s presidency and after the War of 1812, a historical period known as the Era of Good Feeling
commenced in America. However, though the name of this age alone insinuated a time of unity and
prosperity within the nation, sectionalism became an unequivocal dilemma that seeped through the
government s attempts in promoting nationalism, and ultimately divided the country. The Era of Good
Feeling was a time where only one political party reigned, sense of unity prevailed, and ... Show more

These developments in transportation allowed for easier distribution of goods, thus benefitting them as
well. However, the protective tariff prevented the South s economy from growing, thus leading to an
evident economic gap between the North and the South, as the former s economy started to boom due
to the increase in manufacturing. John Randolph argued, The agriculturalists bear the whole brunt of
the war and taxation, and remain poor, while the others run in the ring of pleasure and fatten upon
them (Document 1). The transportation on the other hand, was unwanted by the South due to the vast
plantations that the road and canal systems would interrupt. As economic, social, and political
differences between the country began to be more evident, the government struggled even more to
keep the country as one. In late 1819, Missouri requested for admission into the union as a slave state.
However, the issue between factions of proslavery and antislavery already created high tension within
the Congress, and would worsen if Missouri was accepted as a slave state. Congress found solution in
admitting Maine as a free state in order to prevent the delicate balance between the two sections from
being destroyed. The Missouri Compromise also created an imaginary line across the Louisiana
Territory as

Cultural Construction Of Culture
Karissa Walter Professor Polak
4/17/16 Sociology Our entire world is perceived in the lens of culture and influences our construction
of reality. The social and cultural construction of our reality is built around our social heritage. Some
of the terms I found to be rather interesting were language, cultural shock, social norms, social status,
and social roles in correlation to socialization. Culture is the overall view of shared products between
human society. When we live in a given society we are taught things in ways that other people learn
them in different societies. It is safe to assume that society influences our cultural construction of
reality. The most influential topic in correlation to cultural construction is language. Culture is passed
on my language and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When we speak about social norms, we are talking about the standards of behavior we are expected to
conform to as a social group. In certain situations, behavior is dictated by who we are surrounded by.
Much like how we are influence by our cultural construction of reality. Behavior can be influenced by
society and culture in the form of mannerisms or etiquette. Moral standards are also shaped by society
and help differentiate between what is right or wrong. Socialization can be further broken down into
social status and social role. Your social status is dependent on your place in life, including your career
and family positions. For example, being a father and teacher may shape your perspectives on
particular subjects. This can be further broken down into social roles, as people play different roles
through their lives. For example, the teacher whose a father can also be a son, uncle, and a brother.
This makes his position in society more complex. Every person is further shaped by their
environment, socioeconomic class, school, family, mass media, peer group, and possibly

The Natural Family Planning ( Safe Period )
3 Natural family planning ( safe period):
Natural family planning is one of the most widely utilized means of birth control, espicially for those
whom their religion or their cultural beliefs do not authorize devices or drugs for birth control. This
method includes periodic abstinence, to avoid intercourse during a female s fertile period, which is
around the time of ovulation. Determination of the fertile period involve the calendar method, cervical
mucus method, or the symptothermal method technique.
The calendar method is based on 3 hypotheses as follows: The human ovum can be fertilized only for
approximately 24 hours after ovulation, spermatozoa can maintain their ability of fertilizing for only
48 hours after coitus, and ovulation usually occurs 12 16 days before the onset of the subsequent
menestruation. The menses is recorded for 6 cycles to estimate the fertile period. The earliest day of
the fertile period is calculated by the number of days in the shortest menstrual cycle subtracted by 18.
The latest day of the fertile period is assessed by the number of days in the longest cycle subtracted by

The Importance Of Evil Deeds In Macbeth
Macbeth is a play about a brave and courageous Scottish general who receives three prophecies from a
trio of witches, one of which being that Macbeth shalt be king (1.3.53). Upon receiving these
prophecies, Macbeth becomes plagued by his ambition and his lust for power, and he allows himself
to be spurred to action by Lady Macbeth, his wife. So he decides to murder his king and take the
throne for himself. Afterward, throughout the rest of the play, he is forced to deal with the fallout and
repercussions that come as a result of committing regicide. In the play Macbeth, Shakespeare develops
the idea that evil deeds lead to more evil deeds as one s humanity begins to slowly deteriorate. This
ties back to Macbeth s character, as for each evil deed he commits, he falls further and further from
sanity and slips deeper into a mental state of fear, paranoia, anger, and hatred. The first evil deed is
always the most difficult to commit, and this is no exception to Macbeth, which is made clear when he
takes an entire act of talking himself into and out of the murder, and needs the persuasion of his wife
to actually follow through with it. After the witches predict his reign as king, Macbeth was afflicted
with many dark thoughts and his true ambitious desires came to light. He pictured himself murdering
King Duncan, but Macbeth did everything he could to fight those dark thoughts. This was made clear
by Macbeth consistently refusing to think about killing Duncan, to the point that

Case Study Of Daimlerchrysler
DaimlerChrysler s brand strategy was flawed. The new DaimlerChrysler cannibalized its own product
line, as the Mercedes M class collided with the Jeep Grand Cherokee, affecting one of Chrysler s most
profitable product lines. Chrysler was supposed to pick up small car segment, but Chrysler brand didn
t fit the small car image.
In DaimlerChrysler, there were problems in integrating the operations due to different drive concepts.
Therefore, component sharing was limited, which significantly restricted the benefit of economies of
scale that a merger could bring on.
3.3. Chrysler s consequences after merging with Daimler Benz

The first lesson drawn from the Airflow is that the public does not accept things that are too strange or
belong to a far future. However, in the next two decades, the company continually pursued
conservative and out of fashion designs. Chrysler has had to pay by more than half of the market share
loss in 1950s.
Chrysler is seriously suffered when Keller and the company s best engineers left for space project of
the US government. In general, the corporation has had two golden period from 1983 to 1988 and
from 1993 to 2000, but all heroes that built that glory also left when Daimler Benz appeared.
In theory, the amalgamation of Chrysler and Daimler Benz can bring on a considerable competitive
advantage, especially in term of the economy of scale. Nevertheless, the synergy savings can only be
achieved if two companies can operate the business and produce vehicles more efficiently than when
they were apart. In the case of Daimler Benz and Chrysler, many conflicts and clashes have made the
integrated management impossible. Looking back, it seemed to be an unlikely marriage at the very

Loss Of Identity In Alan Moore s Watchmen
Rorschach s journal from the grave: It has been sometime since the comedian died. From then on
nothing has been a laughing matter. Us watchmen have been through nuclear war, murder, and ice
cold twists and turns. I feel like our story could be influential to anyone s life.
Through Alan Moore s exquisite writing and plot twists he encompasses identity, real world problems,
and non
superhero like storytelling.
Identity is one reason why Alan Moore s Watchmen is one of the most influential books of all time.
Each character in this novel has their own identity and viewpoint of the world. The most amazing
example of this is Rorschach. He is my favorite character in this book simply because his viewpoint
on the world is to lookout for himself and what he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that this takes place in USA late 1900s makes this book more relatable. Also this novel has
problems such as love, hatred, and violent crime. These real world problems are what makes this
novel even relatable. There is nothing like seeing superheros go through the same struggles we go
through daily. Finally, another reason why this book is very influential is that even though it is a novel
about superheroes it does not follow how, normally, a superhero story would be told. For example, in
Superman comics, the clear villain is Lex Luthor and the clear hero is none other than
Superman. However in Watchmen Adrian Veidt was thought to be a superhero for most of the novel
until it was revealed that he was actually a villain. Also, the watchmen are supposed to be heroes yet
most of them come from terrible or violent backgrounds. This makes this novel that much more
riveting.
In Summation, Alan Moore s Watchmen is one of the best novels of all time. I believe it is because
this book is the embodiment of identity, real world problems, and non
superhero like storytelling.
Identity in this novel is led by in my opinion the best character Rorschach

Analysis Of The Book The Dreams From My Father
The book centers on the life of Barack Hussein Obama II s life until his enrollment to the Harvard
Law School. There is not much Washington setting throughout the book; therefore, the focus would be
the parallels between his life before his presidency as told in this memoir and his life as the most
powerful man in Washington, DC. In this paper, the focus will be on Obama and his father, African
American history, his way to success, and finally, his experience in Washington.
First published in 1995, the Dreams from my Father reveals a great portrayal of the head of the US
government as a person before achieving his status and power. Today, across the globe, the name
Barack Obama would be recognizable the man who stirred the status quo of the Presidency and
making a mark as the first African American US President. Anyone who visits Washington, DC would
hope to encounter Obama. Although the book was written before his term as a President, it clearly
depicts his character as a leader.
What is notable about the book is Obama s vulnerable side. The powerful President has also struggled
in life. Someone who feared of not belonging. Someone who lost a loved one. Someone who learned
from his mistakes. During his visit in Kenya, for the first time in [his] life, [he] found [himself]
thinking deeply about money: my own lack of it, the pursuit of it, the crude but undeniable peace it
could buy (329). Yet, what is more remarkable is observing how Obama thought about understanding

Lord William I is the Lord of the lands in Abalone. He was married to Lady Madison. The lands were
peaceful then. Ordina and Lady Madison were childhood friends and very close. So, Madison
requested that Ordina be by her side at the time of her giving birth. Ordina considered it a great honor
to become her confidant, as well as her midwife. Madison gave birth to a handsome boy whom she
named Christopher William after his father. Charles was in his glory at the birth of the new heir. He

and nights trying to heal her very sick friend, whilst being mocked and snickering witch or sorceress
as she pass through the halls of the manor house. Unfortunately, after many days of fighting Madison
passed away due to the illness. A few weeks later, an old and ragged looking mule entered the gates of
the manor house. On its back, we re the bodies of Sir Rose and Christopher. At this point, Charles he
had lost his wife, his heir to the throne, and best friend. This is where his mentally stressful life started
to affect him. Charles was on most occasions, not able to make rational decisions. Ordina was once
again called upon to make an antidote that would prolong Charles s pain and ill temper. This time she
succeeded. Eventually, Charles remarried another local lord s daughter (Leila) and within the year she
became pregnant with William George Elton III. With the doctors gone tending to other wounded
soldiers, Ordina was requested to be her midwife. But during delivery, again something went wrong

There can be songs with a happy message, or there can be depressing message. Colors by Halsey and I

In the same way, Colors and I Hate You I Love You have a similar meaning in heartbreaks. Everything

it s blue. Everything is grey. His hair, his smoke, his dreams. And now he s so devoid of color. He

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Term Insurance
Term Insurance What is it and what benefits it offers
Life insurance companies offer many types of insurance policies. A term policy is one among many
types of the policies, and it is the most traditional one.
What is Term Insurance?
Term insurance is a kind of life insurance that gives coverage for a specified time or a fixed term of
years. If the policyholder dies during the policy term, the sum insured is paid to the nominee. No
payout is made if the policyholder survives the insured term.
The Typical Nature of Term Insurance
The typical nature of term insurance is that there is no cash accumulation in the account, helping keep
the relatively low cost over other types of insurance covers. Term insurance is the cheapest way to get

The insurance company undergoes an underwriting process. Once coverage approved, the term policy
will be in force as long as due premiums paid until the time the policy expires or the unfortunate event
happens.
Why opt for Term Insurance
Consider the following reasons for opting for term insurance.
Coverage for greater period
Since term insurance is inexpensive, it is possible to cover insurance for a greater time, say a 30 year
period. For the same period, the premium for term policy will be lesser compared to the premium of
other types of policies. For example, a 30 year old can cover term policy, say for Rs.1 crore for a 30
year term with a relatively lesser premium amount, whereas an endowment policy for Rs.1 crore will
probably be out of his bounds on various counts.
Higher term insurance
Term plans can support higher amounts insurance plans. The higher your income is, the higher amount
plan you can opt. For example, if Rs.10 lakhs is your annual income, you can opt for Rs.1 crore term
plans. With Term Insurance plans, a large amount of term cover comes at a small premium. This
premium varies from insurer to insurer. A term policy is much inexpensive than other policies.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Representative Democracy
A democracy is a system of government where the citizens directly exercise their power, and have the
right to elect government representatives who jointly create a government body for the entire nation,
for example: parliament. In a democratic government, people have certain rights that the government
can t take away from them, and these rights are guaranteed.
Types of democracy
The main forms of democracy are:
1. Direct democracy
2. Representative democracy
3. Presidential democracy
4. Parliamentary democracy
5. Authoritarian democracy
6. Participatory democracy
7. Islamic democracy
8. Social democracy
Direct Democracy
A direct democracy is when citizens get to vote for a policy directly, without any intermediate
representatives or houses of parliament. If the government has to pass a certain law or policy, it goes
to the people. The people vote on the issue and decide the fate of their own countries. In a direct
democracy taxes cannot be raised without the public support.
When the population is small and educated a direct democracy is a good idea. Switzerland, for
example, has had a long history of a successful direct democracy. This model of democracy drives
people to form parties for their own agendas.
However, most countries are too large which makes it too complicated for a direct democracy to work
within their political borders. In those cases, people prefer to elect representatives on their behalf,
rather than vote on every single issue.
Representative Democracy

need to be resolved independently of one another, but in fact they re two sides of the same coin.
Donna C. Crooks Attorney At Law, a Daleville divorce attorney with over 20 years experience,

Parents tend to think of child custody in terms of their right to spend time with, and make decisions

the scarlet, which her community gave to Puritan women who committed an act of sin. Her
community judged her after she put the letter upon her chest. They considered her sinful and dirty and
wanted nothing to do with her. They tried to exile her, but Hester would not have it and she moved to

Life in the Italy in the 1930s
Life in Italy in the 1930 s
Life in Italy in the 1930 s caused difficulty to some Italians during that time period. During the 1930 s
a large number of Italians who had opposed the fascist rule of Benito Mussolini arrived in the United
States. After the news spread in Italy about the bombing of Pearl Harbour almost all Italians supported

Abstract art started making inroads into the industry and artists like Salvador Dali and Kurt Schwitters
became famous for this time of art. Abstract art was disliked by Mussolini as this type of art was very
different and modern, it had its own identity however, Musslolini only accepted traditional religious
paintings to be a part of the Italian lifestyle. Artistic freedom was further restricted by Mussolini s
introduction of Fascist design and mass communication this included posters, radio and TV
commercials which stole numerous ideas from the fine arts and showed the public a distorted view of
this art phenomenom.
During the 1930 s the public began to feel the effects of the Great Depression, many designers were
restricted in experimenting with new fashions due to the fall in the economy and the rise in
employment. However, this difficult time period did not stop women from flocking to the shops to
enjoy the new fashion craze that was arising. Women were expected to wear clothing that was sombre
and modest, it reflecting the difficult social and economical situation of the decade. In Italy, women s
fashions moved away from the seductive and daring style of the 1920s towards more romantic,
feminine silhouette inspired fashion. Fashion was more significant during this time period in Italy

The Republic Of Ireland And The United Kingdom
The Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom
An Analysis of Governments, Politics, and Society in the Region
Conall P. MacKenzie
FP230 Short Paper
LCDR Rachael Gosnell
24SEP2015
Western Europe has grown exponentially since the colonial period, and the emergence of the Republic
of Ireland and a unified United Kingdom has clearly shown that Europe s boarders are constantly
changing. Each nation has evolved in its own ways over the course of its existence, but both show
many similarities that are highly visible in governing styles, political parties, and the societies
themselves. These differences are what separate the two states from one another. Since Ireland
received independence from Great Britain in 1922, its governmental processes and political parties
have changed entirely from what they were before, thus causing a massive shift of the public view of
Ireland, and the United Kingdom from the early 20th century to present day. Now, it is readily
apparent that even though they are incredibly different countries both are successful and in no worry
of becoming a failed state. However, there are dissimilarities between the governing styles as well as
the types of party platforms in each region that have aided their successes. Ireland was not always its
own country. For a long period, it fell under the jurisdiction of Great Britain. Throughout the early
20th century, Ireland looked to secede from Great Britain, leading to its eventual success in the act by

1990 Gardner Theft
Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder: The Effects of the 1990 Gardner Art Theft Upon entering the
room, visitors eyes dart to that mysteriously empty frame centered on the opposite wall. In such a
painstakingly designed museum, this frame looks out of place. On these walls hang the memoirs of
revered artists, but the empty frames scattered throughout remember something more tragic: the
largest property theft in world history (Menconi, 2012). Head of security at the Gardner, Anthony
Amore, refers to these empty frames as placeholders, not memorials and urges visitors to see them as a
testament to their belief that they will reacquire the stolen paintings someday (Menconi, 2012).

Rembrandt was highly prolific, but primarily a portraitist. Thus, he created just one seascape, which
the Gardner burglars stole. Storm on the Sea of Galilee is a masterpiece of religious importance and a
beautiful example of the baroque genre. Rembrandt s influence is immense and his popularity
described as cult like. Furthermore, his art promotes a concentrated interest in which his name and the
images he produced were empowered and endowed with meaning that encompassed anti authoritarian
conduct, personal and political liberalism, republicanism, originality, and innovative creative powers
(McQueen, 2003). Therefore, Rembrandt s influence stretches beyond the realms of artistic history
and style into the realms of religion, politics, and psychology. With the loss of a one of a kind
Rembrandt seascape, the world lost access to a piece that displays the profound impact Rembrandt has

Agricultural Subsidies In The United States
Agricultural subsidies have existed in the United States for over a hundred years. The 1916 Federal
Farm Loan Act provided affordable loans to farmers. Several programs emerged during the New Deal
Era that supported the development of crop insurance, limited competition, production controls and
much more. A struggling finance industry in the 1980s led to an increase in the government financial
support of farms, despite calls from the Reagan administration to cut subsidies. In 1996, the Freedom
to Farm law drew away from the subsidies and support market supply and demand. However, in the
years following, Congress started to again funnel subsidies to the agricultural industry. The original
provisions of the 1996 law would have resulted in $47 billion in subsidy cost over 7 years; instead,
spending reached well over $120 billion (Orden, Paalberg, Roe, 1999). ... Show more content on

Not only did the bill expand subsidies by 74% over 10 years, but it established a counter cyclical price
program that guaranteed prices for farmers (Government Printing Office, 2005). Then, in 2014,
Congress implemented another extensive farm bill. Not only did it expand crop insurance, it also
instituted two subsidy programs; Agricultural Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage. The bill was
originally supposed to save taxpayers money; however, it is now clear that the new programs will cost
billions more than before (Smith,

The Theory And The Psychoanalytic Theory
Although used predominantly to explain the varying characteristics each individual possesses,
personality is also a term often coined to define and explain the reasons behind an individual s
motivations and reactions to certain events, entities and decisions. Defined by Larson Buss, 2005,
personality is the set of psychological traits and mechanisms within the individual that are organised
and relatively enduring, and that influence his or her interaction with, and adaptions to, the
intrapsychic, physical and social environments. As personality encompasses such a wide array of
concepts, there are many competitive theories battling to explain these dynamic ideas. Of these
theories, is the unorthodox Psychoanalytic theory, developed by ... Show more content on

In contrast, the humanistic approach emphasised the conscious awareness of needs, choices and
personal responsibilities of the individual (Lahey, 2009). They believed that the personal worth of the
particular individual, the centrality of human values, and the creative and active nature of human
beings was what defined the person (McLeod, 2007). Basically, the humanistic approach, according to
Abraham Maslow, was that humans are born good and that human nature is compassionate and
positive (Larsen Buss, 2012).
Both the psychoanalytic and humanistic theories differ from one another in multiple ways. One of the
most prominent differences is their view on human nature. As mentioned above, Freud and his
psychoanalytic concept, viewed humans as inherently bad. The id, he defined, operated solely on the
pleasure principle, craving immediate gratification without consideration about moral values and the
harm it could cause (McLeod, 2008). He also believed that the ego and the superego was the minds
way of controlling the id ((Lahey, 2009; Larsen Buss, 2012; McLeod, 2008).
In contrast, humanistic psychologists viewed human nature as fundamentally good. Maslow had a
positive view on men, believing that each had the ability to grow and mature into proper beings, and
make use of their full potential (Boeree, 2000 Larsen Buss, 2012). The main emphasis of the
humanistic approach, was that an individual has free will and this plays an important role in shaping

A Brief Note On The Law Of Copyright
Diana Rios
Professor Proctor
Enc 1102
December 15, 2015
Law of Copyright Technology today plays a huge role in all aspects of a modern day by day society.
As technology is used in all different fields, it is expected to continue improving over time to make
daily tasks an unchallenging experience to perform for the average person. It provides security for
creators, writers, artist, etc. from others benefiting from their work therefore providing better
confidence in creativity and boosting economic growth.
On April 10, 1710 the British Statute of Anne An Act for the Encouragement of Learning by Vesting
the Copies of Printed Books in the Authors or Purchasers of such Copies, during the Times Therein
Mentioned was the first copyright statue that took effect. In those times the Law of Copyright only
applied to the copying of books. In both England and United States this famous statue remains the
foundation of copyright law. As society changes, the Law has adapted for other uses like translations
and expressive creation that may include copyright protected elements. The new modification to the
law now covers a wide range of works. These rights protect the work of books, manuscripts, plays,
computer programs, works of art, maps, architectural plans, musical scores, sound recordings, and
films. Luckily over time copyright law has changed to benefit creators of original works. While most
people argue that these copyright laws protect the goods of many artists original works

Multiple Decisions In The Garden Of Forking Path
The possibility of having multiple decisions occur at once is displayed in a short story written in 1941
called The Garden of Forking Paths . This concept makes the short story seem more like a giant puzzle
that always has a missing piece. With the outer edges solved creating a frame narrative with the theme
of time which the author wrote to confuse the reader. Said by Mr. Dewey, if you read this story and
understand it then you didn t read the story properly. Meaning you didn t dive deep enough into the
reading, just read around the edges, the frame, and didn t come close to or reach the core of the short
story. You can compare the format of the story to a magic trick where the author is the magician. The
magic trick the reader is presented with is how can multiple decisions occur at once. ... Show more

Jane Goodall Persuasion Techniques
The essay I acknowledge mine by Jane Goodall uses better persuasion techniques than the piece by
American Medical Association. These articles both show great examples of persuasion techniques.
The American Medical Association used more logos and Jane Goodall s piece used more pathos. Their
claims represented two sides of a very heated argument over animal rights. The claim in Jane Goodall
s paper is that animals should not be used in human studies more specifically chimpanzees. While the
American Medical Association says that all this testing is required for the advancement of medicine.
They both choose to support their claims very differently. The American Medical Association (AMA)
says many facts and state all the scientific breakthroughs that were achieved through animal testing.
Jane Goodall talks about all the pain and the suffering that the animals are going through and relates
them to humans. Evidence, Jane Goodall s play on the reader s emotions in her evidence is strong. She
says, I watched as monkeys paced around their tiny prisons, making bizarre, abnormal movements
(Goodall 608). She has a way of using our morality of humans so that we can relate to these poor little
monkeys. The AMA says Animal research holds the key to solutions for AIDS, cancer, heart disease,
aging and congenital ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It also says that all these restrictions are just slowing down and discouraging scientific research. Jane
Goodall brings up JoJo and the difference between wild chimps and chimpanzees used in scientific
study. She states that chimps don t benefit the study of AIDs because they rarely exhibit symptoms.
Jane Goodall says that the chimps are prisoners serving for a crime they didn t commit. That the
animals are so like humans that the need to be with their families in the wild and shouldn t be treated

Teletech 2005
Analysis Teletech 2005 WACC and Hurdle Rate: Risk drives required returns and is a fundamental
concept when determining whether or not a company is providing appropriate returns to its
shareholders. Teletech s policy was to use a uniform hurdle rate across segments. This policy works
well if each potential investment has the same risk. Unfortunately for Teletech, investments differ in
their level of risk and therefore in their required rates of return. To adequately assess potential
investments, Teletech should implement a hurdle rate for each segment and potentially risk adjust
these hurdle rates for projects within each segment. As Teletech s EVP of Telecommunications
Services points out in his graph, a single hurdle rate for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We feel that she is both correct and incorrect in her logic and that ultimately segment hurdle rates are a
better measure of return maximization. Hurdle rates are an internal management tool and can be set
independent of WACC. We feel that the diversification of the company does help keep capital costs
down which benefit the company. However, the hurdle rate is the driving factor of resource allocation.
As more resources are shifted to the PS division, capital costs will begin to increase along side risk. In
addition, external investors and analysts have more information than Helen is indicating. These
analysts (36 following Teletech) and investors often look at companies by the markets they are in.
They specifically look at the types of returns each of Teletech s segments are producing and are
projected to produce and compare those to others in the industry. This may be the main reason for
Teletech s stock price and P/E ratio not keeping up with others in the industry. Once again we feel that
Teletech should institute segment specific hurdle rates. Economic Profit: Teletech uses a calculation of
Economic Profit (EP) to measure business unit performance as well as evaluate and compensate the
business unit leaders. We use the same EP calculation to determine if the PS segment is
underperforming and ultimately destroying value. Exhibit 2 shows the EP calculation for each

Racial Stereyping In Mexicans Begin Jogging
Racial Stereoyping
How do you escape a racial stereotype? Soto has Mexican heritage and has lived in the U.S. as a legal
immigrant working in a factory. In the poem Mexicans Begin Jogging , the author shows Marxism
through Soto s stereotype as an illegal immigrant because he is Hispanic and works in a factory. Soto
is trapped between his Mexican heritage and his American culture and doesn t know how to deal with
this problem; he is stuck in this predicament where he is a Mexican at heart, but has an American
upbringing. In Mexican s Begin Jogging , Soto describes a personal situation he was once in when he
was working at a factory that employed illegal Mexican immigrants. He gives us insight into the
environment he begrudgingly worked in due to his Mexican heritage. Many of the conditions at the
factory Soto worked at were less than manageable; one was the thick smell of burning rubber filling
the factory making it very hard to work. The description Soto gave was the fleck of rubber, under the
press of an oven yellow with flame ( Mexicans Begin Jogging ), which sounds almost unbearable to
deal with. Nevertheless, the predicament that Soto was in was not because of border patrol, it was
because of the stereotype people had placed on him. This magnifies the implication that the racial
stereotypes had on Soto, because of the stereotyping; Hispanics are associated with undocumented
residents. When the border patrol learned of this news they infiltrated the plant. Soto s

The New Woman in Cecil B. DeMille s The Cheat Essay
Cecil B. DeMille is regarded by many to be the founder of Hollywood, given that his 1914 film, The
Squaw Man, was the first important full length motion picture made in Hollywood. As Joel W. Finler
considers, the film accelerated the trend toward establishing California as the new home of movie
making . However, it is in his depiction of the `new woman that the director is both celebrated and
derided. In many of his films, DeMille illustrates the rise of consumer culture that had begun in the
latter half of the nineteenth century. During its escalation, goods took on a symbolic life while middle
class women attained the characteristics of commodities as they moved into the public sphere. Their
movement can be put down to their refusal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Cheat, DeMille uses the notion of the `new women to critique society in the era. While the film
does not deny Edith the freedom that had come to be associated with the idea, it elucidates [o]ne of the
dangers of the modern urban culture [namely] the disappearance of traditional methods of knowing
social status and presumed moralities associated with that status , a hazard which meant [women s]
decreased privatisation at the cost of their increased commodification .
Indeed, the early part of the film portrays an accurate depiction of society at the time, without overt
prejudice or obsession with issues (which are dealt with in the narrative later). The society on show in
DeMille s classic is one at the hands of an invasion by consumerism where, [w]hether social activist
or flapper, the `new woman expected to function in both public and private spheres despite
controversy regarding the nature of her role . This movement came to be characterised by, how

Analysis Of How To Close A Gender Gap By Claire Miller
In How to Close a Gender Gap, author Claire Miller asserts that increased flexibility in the workplace
could take notable strides towards eliminating the gender pay gap. Miller cites research that has
concluded the high expectation for extended periods of time to be spent at the desk working can partly
explain the gap because they have disproportionate responsibility (1) when it comes to taking care of
children. This is inopportune for women because they want to be rewarded for their hard work, and
that goal should not be sacrificed by the choice to have a child. To add to her claim, the author
describes a company called Werk that offer flexible hours and do not require all work to be completed
at an office. As referred to in the text, research

  • 2. Classical Music And Its Influence On The Culture Of... Poetic Dissonance Classical music is earnest music engendered in the traditions of Western music. Many great composers were born in that era kenned as the mundane practice period. For my classical project I went to the Music Center s Walt Disney concert hall. It has had many famous classical performances over the past few years. I witnessed something unique and enlightening when I entered the orchestra performance and heedfully aurally perceived all of this solemn music. I discerned many famous composers this evening. Their denominations were Paul Hindemith, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Benjamin Boone, Dmitri Shostakovich, and Arturo Marquez conducted by Thomas Loewenheim. The pieces performed were Symphonic Metamorphosis on Themes of Carl Maria von Weber; Allegro, Turandot: Scherzo, Andantino, March, Concert for Violin in D major; Allegro Moderato, Waterless Music, Symphony in D minor; Revolutionary Petrograd, Razliv, Aurora, Dawn of Humanity, and Danzon. I optically discerned many people and instruments being played all over the theater. Mostly everyone I optically discerned was professionally dressed up. The instruments being played were the violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, bass trombone, tuba, percussion, and piano. The most fascinating thing I cerebrated was intriguing was that they endeavored integrating water as an instrument in the waterless music piece and it genuinely sounded congenial. • 3. My Thoughts On My Life Ok so I needed a little help to focus my thoughts so I used google and found a blog that was very helpful. The writer Kat Lee said, one of my greatest fears in life is that I will be the same person at 76 that I am at 36; that I will have the same hangups as an older woman that I had as a younger woman. I think that is my same fear. When I moved to Oklahoma I wanted to reinvent myself, I didn t want to be the same girl with the same hangups both in life and spiritually. I thought new place fresh start. As you already know it takes a lot for me to reach out and put myself on full display. I have a difficulty opening up and putting my feelings/thoughts into words. From the short while I ve known you I feel like you are a person I can break down those walls and be truly honest without the fear of judgement. I have so many questions to ask you about your life. You are not much older than me but you have lived life. You married a wonderful man at a young age and you have a sweet little boy. You are on fire for the Lord and it shows through your actions. So maybe you can help me clear some of my obstacles that are in my life by learning from you who might have already cleared or gone through those obstacle in your life. I can be a very critical toward myself and get overwhelmed by the things I need to change or improve on and end up doing nothing to change. I want to be the best person I can be. DBQ Nationalism And Sectionalism Nicole Vindollo Mrs. Segal US History I/Pd. 9 23 March 2015 The Era of Good Feeling: The Effects and Consequences of Nationalism and Sectionalism In 1815, shortly before the start of James Monroe s presidency and after the War of 1812, a historical period known as the Era of Good Feeling commenced in America. However, though the name of this age alone insinuated a time of unity and prosperity within the nation, sectionalism became an unequivocal dilemma that seeped through the government s attempts in promoting nationalism, and ultimately divided the country. The Era of Good Feeling was a time where only one political party reigned, sense of unity prevailed, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These developments in transportation allowed for easier distribution of goods, thus benefitting them as well. However, the protective tariff prevented the South s economy from growing, thus leading to an evident economic gap between the North and the South, as the former s economy started to boom due to the increase in manufacturing. John Randolph argued, The agriculturalists bear the whole brunt of the war and taxation, and remain poor, while the others run in the ring of pleasure and fatten upon them (Document 1). The transportation on the other hand, was unwanted by the South due to the vast plantations that the road and canal systems would interrupt. As economic, social, and political differences between the country began to be more evident, the government struggled even more to keep the country as one. In late 1819, Missouri requested for admission into the union as a slave state. However, the issue between factions of proslavery and antislavery already created high tension within the Congress, and would worsen if Missouri was accepted as a slave state. Congress found solution in admitting Maine as a free state in order to prevent the delicate balance between the two sections from being destroyed. The Missouri Compromise also created an imaginary line across the Louisiana Territory as ... • 5. Cultural Construction Of Culture Karissa Walter Professor Polak 4/17/16 Sociology Our entire world is perceived in the lens of culture and influences our construction of reality. The social and cultural construction of our reality is built around our social heritage. Some of the terms I found to be rather interesting were language, cultural shock, social norms, social status, and social roles in correlation to socialization. Culture is the overall view of shared products between human society. When we live in a given society we are taught things in ways that other people learn them in different societies. It is safe to assume that society influences our cultural construction of reality. The most influential topic in correlation to cultural construction is language. Culture is passed on my language and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When we speak about social norms, we are talking about the standards of behavior we are expected to conform to as a social group. In certain situations, behavior is dictated by who we are surrounded by. Much like how we are influence by our cultural construction of reality. Behavior can be influenced by society and culture in the form of mannerisms or etiquette. Moral standards are also shaped by society and help differentiate between what is right or wrong. Socialization can be further broken down into social status and social role. Your social status is dependent on your place in life, including your career and family positions. For example, being a father and teacher may shape your perspectives on particular subjects. This can be further broken down into social roles, as people play different roles through their lives. For example, the teacher whose a father can also be a son, uncle, and a brother. This makes his position in society more complex. • 6. The Natural Family Planning ( Safe Period ) 3 Natural family planning ( safe period): Natural family planning is one of the most widely utilized means of birth control, espicially for those whom their religion or their cultural beliefs do not authorize devices or drugs for birth control. This method includes periodic abstinence, to avoid intercourse during a female s fertile period, which is around the time of ovulation. Determination of the fertile period involve the calendar method, cervical mucus method, or the symptothermal method technique. The calendar method is based on 3 hypotheses as follows: The human ovum can be fertilized only for approximately 24 hours after ovulation, spermatozoa can maintain their ability of fertilizing for only 48 hours after coitus, and ovulation usually occurs 12 16 days before the onset of the subsequent menestruation. The menses is recorded for 6 cycles to estimate the fertile period. The earliest day of the fertile period is calculated by the number of days in the shortest menstrual cycle subtracted by 18. The latest day of the fertile period is assessed by the number of days in the longest cycle subtracted by 11. * Efficacy: The failure rate in typical utilization is estimated to be approximately 25%. * Advantages: No adverse effects from hormones occur. This may be the only method acceptable to couples for cultural or religious beliefs. Immediate return to fertility occurs with termination of utilization. * Disadvantages: This is most suitable for female with standard and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Importance Of Evil Deeds In Macbeth Macbeth is a play about a brave and courageous Scottish general who receives three prophecies from a trio of witches, one of which being that Macbeth shalt be king (1.3.53). Upon receiving these prophecies, Macbeth becomes plagued by his ambition and his lust for power, and he allows himself to be spurred to action by Lady Macbeth, his wife. So he decides to murder his king and take the throne for himself. Afterward, throughout the rest of the play, he is forced to deal with the fallout and repercussions that come as a result of committing regicide. In the play Macbeth, Shakespeare develops the idea that evil deeds lead to more evil deeds as one s humanity begins to slowly deteriorate. This ties back to Macbeth s character, as for each evil deed he commits, he falls further and further from sanity and slips deeper into a mental state of fear, paranoia, anger, and hatred. The first evil deed is always the most difficult to commit, and this is no exception to Macbeth, which is made clear when he takes an entire act of talking himself into and out of the murder, and needs the persuasion of his wife to actually follow through with it. After the witches predict his reign as king, Macbeth was afflicted with many dark thoughts and his true ambitious desires came to light. He pictured himself murdering King Duncan, but Macbeth did everything he could to fight those dark thoughts. This was made clear by Macbeth consistently refusing to think about killing Duncan, to the point that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In DaimlerChrysler, there were problems in integrating the operations due to different drive concepts. Therefore, component sharing was limited, which significantly restricted the benefit of economies of scale that a merger could bring on. 3.3. Chrysler is seriously suffered when Keller and the company s best engineers left for space project of the US government. In general, the corporation has had two golden period from 1983 to 1988 and from 1993 to 2000, but all heroes that built that glory also left when Daimler Benz appeared. In theory, the amalgamation of Chrysler and Daimler Benz can bring on a considerable competitive advantage, especially in term of the economy of scale. Nevertheless, the synergy savings can only be achieved if two companies can operate the business and produce vehicles more efficiently than when they were apart. • 9. Loss Of Identity In Alan Moore s Watchmen Rorschach s journal from the grave: It has been sometime since the comedian died. From then on nothing has been a laughing matter. Us watchmen have been through nuclear war, murder, and ice cold twists and turns. I feel like our story could be influential to anyone s life. Through Alan Moore s exquisite writing and plot twists he encompasses identity, real world problems, and non superhero like storytelling. Identity is one reason why Alan Moore s Watchmen is one of the most influential books of all time. Each character in this novel has their own identity and viewpoint of the world. The most amazing example of this is Rorschach. He is my favorite character in this book simply because his viewpoint on the world is to lookout for himself and what he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact that this takes place in USA late 1900s makes this book more relatable. Also this novel has problems such as love, hatred, and violent crime. These real world problems are what makes this novel even relatable. There is nothing like seeing superheros go through the same struggles we go through daily. Finally, another reason why this book is very influential is that even though it is a novel about superheroes it does not follow how, normally, a superhero story would be told. For example, in Superman comics, the clear villain is Lex Luthor and the clear hero is none other than Superman. However in Watchmen Adrian Veidt was thought to be a superhero for most of the novel until it was revealed that he was actually a villain. Also, the watchmen are supposed to be heroes yet most of them come from terrible or violent backgrounds. This makes this novel that much more riveting. In Summation, Alan Moore s Watchmen is one of the best novels of all time. I believe it is because this book is the embodiment of identity, real world problems, and non superhero like storytelling. • 10. Analysis Of The Book The Dreams From My Father The book centers on the life of Barack Hussein Obama II s life until his enrollment to the Harvard Law School. There is not much Washington setting throughout the book; therefore, the focus would be the parallels between his life before his presidency as told in this memoir and his life as the most powerful man in Washington, DC. In this paper, the focus will be on Obama and his father, African American history, his way to success, and finally, his experience in Washington. First published in 1995, the Dreams from my Father reveals a great portrayal of the head of the US government as a person before achieving his status and power. Today, across the globe, the name Barack Obama would be recognizable the man who stirred the status quo of the Presidency and making a mark as the first African American US President. Anyone who visits Washington, DC would hope to encounter Obama. Although the book was written before his term as a President, it clearly depicts his character as a leader. What is notable about the book is Obama s vulnerable side. The powerful President has also struggled in life. Someone who feared of not belonging. Someone who lost a loved one. Someone who learned from his mistakes. During his visit in Kenya, for the first time in [his] life, [he] found [himself] thinking deeply about money: my own lack of it, the pursuit of it, the crude but undeniable peace it could buy (329). Yet, what is more remarkable is observing how Obama thought about understanding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Representative Democracy A democracy is a system of government where the citizens directly exercise their power, and have the right to elect government representatives who jointly create a government body for the entire nation, for example: parliament. In a democratic government, people have certain rights that the government can t take away from them, and these rights are guaranteed. Types of democracy The main forms of democracy are: 1. Direct democracy 2. Representative democracy 3. Presidential democracy 4. Parliamentary democracy 5. Authoritarian democracy 6. Participatory democracy 7. Islamic democracy 8. Social democracy Direct Democracy A direct democracy is when citizens get to vote for a policy directly, without any intermediate representatives or houses of parliament. If the government has to pass a certain law or policy, it goes to the people. The people vote on the issue and decide the fate of their own countries. In a direct democracy taxes cannot be raised without the public support. When the population is small and educated a direct democracy is a good idea. Switzerland, for example, has had a long history of a successful direct democracy. This model of democracy drives people to form parties for their own agendas. However, most countries are too large which makes it too complicated for a direct democracy to work within their political borders. In those cases, people prefer to elect representatives on their behalf, rather than vote on every single issue. Representative Democracy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

MacKenzie FP230 Short Paper LCDR Rachael Gosnell 24SEP2015 Western Europe has grown exponentially since the colonial period, and the emergence of the Republic of Ireland and a unified United Kingdom has clearly shown that Europe s boarders are constantly changing. Each nation has evolved in its own ways over the course of its existence, but both show many similarities that are highly visible in governing styles, political parties, and the societies themselves. These differences are what separate the two states from one another. Since Ireland received independence from Great Britain in 1922, its governmental processes and political parties have changed entirely from what they were before, thus causing a massive shift of the public view of Ireland, and the United Kingdom from the early 20th century to present day. Now, it is readily apparent that even though they are incredibly different countries both are successful and in no worry of becoming a failed state. However, there are dissimilarities between the governing styles as well as the types of party platforms in each region that have aided their successes. Ireland was not always its own country. For a long period, it fell under the jurisdiction of Great Britain. Throughout the early 20th century, Ireland looked to secede from Great Britain, leading to its eventual success in the act by ... They believed that the personal worth of the particular individual, the centrality of human values, and the creative and active nature of human beings was what defined the person (McLeod, 2007). Basically, the humanistic approach, according to Abraham Maslow, was that humans are born good and that human nature is compassionate and positive (Larsen Buss, 2012). Both the psychoanalytic and humanistic theories differ from one another in multiple ways. One of the most prominent differences is their view on human nature. As mentioned above, Freud and his psychoanalytic concept, viewed humans as inherently bad. The id, he defined, operated solely on the pleasure principle, craving immediate gratification without consideration about moral values and the harm it could cause (McLeod, 2008). He also believed that the ego and the superego was the minds way of controlling the id ((Lahey, 2009; Larsen Buss, 2012; McLeod, 2008). In contrast, humanistic psychologists viewed human nature as fundamentally good. Maslow had a positive view on men, believing that each had the ability to grow and mature into proper beings, and make use of their full potential (Boeree, 2000 Larsen Buss, 2012). As technology is used in all different fields, it is expected to continue improving over time to make daily tasks an unchallenging experience to perform for the average person. It provides security for creators, writers, artist, etc. from others benefiting from their work therefore providing better confidence in creativity and boosting economic growth. In those times the Law of Copyright only applied to the copying of books. In both England and United States this famous statue remains the foundation of copyright law. As society changes, the Law has adapted for other uses like translations and expressive creation that may include copyright protected elements. The new modification to the law now covers a wide range of works. These rights protect the work of books, manuscripts, plays, computer programs, works of art, maps, architectural plans, musical scores, sound recordings, and films. Soto is trapped between his Mexican heritage and his American culture and doesn t know how to deal with this problem; he is stuck in this predicament where he is a Mexican at heart, but has an American upbringing. The description Soto gave was the fleck of rubber, under the press of an oven yellow with flame ( Mexicans Begin Jogging ), which sounds almost unbearable to deal with. Nevertheless, the predicament that Soto was in was not because of border patrol, it was because of the stereotype people had placed on him.
