Reflection Of A Look At The Washed Ashore Sculpture Exhibit
This semester I attended the Washed Ashore Sculpture Exhibit. It is located on the campus of Iowa
State University in the Reiman Gardens. This event is related to Humanities because exhibit houses
many art sculptures made of trash. The trash is plastics and other house hold items that have
washed ashore in Oregon and Northern California. The purpose of the exhibit is to raise awareness
to the damages of plastic to the environment, what plastic can do to animals and ecosystems,
demonstrate how nonbiodegradable plastic is, and how much plastic there is in the ocean.
The exhibit is set up so that right as you walk it the butterfly exhibit entrance is off to your left,
and the research facility is off to your right. In between them is a hallway filled with Jellyfish made
of plastic water bottles and caps and other trash. At the end of the hallway is a pair of doors that
leads to a greenhouse that a bunch of plants and a large jellyfish. When you go outside, there is a
pathway that leads to each of the gardens and ten sculptures that is featured inside the Washed
Ashore Sculpture Exhibit.
I had four favorite sculptures in the gardens. One of my favorite pieces was the Polar Bear. Right as
you approached the entrance to the park, you are greeted by the polar bear. The polar bear
represented the results of global warming and loss of land for polar bears to live and hunt on.
Another was the Giant Jellyfish. Inside the greenhouse there was a giant Jellyfish hanging from the
ceiling.

Introduction
In the case of Jacobsen vs. Nike Canada Ltd, Mr. Jacobsen an employer of Nike Canada Ltd was
seriously injured in a car accident as a result of alcohol consumption while at work. This paper will
prove that the defendant (Nike Canada Ltd.) was negligent in all the four elements of Negligence
and therefore liable for the injuries. Also it will explain for any legal defense that the employer
(Nike Canada Ltd.) might be able to raise.

Was there a breach of standard of care?
Nike is obligated to provide a safe working environment particularly if the job is inherently
dangerous. The employer (Nike) must hire competent representatives. Nike s representative,
supplied the workers with considerable amounts of beer. Providing alcohol while at work
jeopardizes work safety and as a result breaches the duty of care that the employer is obligated to
provide.
Causation?
It is very clear that alcohol consumption is the main cause of the accident. Applying the but for test
we can say: but for consuming the alcohol, the collision would not have occurred.
Damages?
Nike failed to exercise reasonable care and as a result Mr. Jacobsen was involved in a single vehicle
accident, which left him with physical damages (quadriplegic).
Counter Argument Assumption of Risk and Contributory Negligence
Nike could use assumption of risk and contributory negligence as part of their defense and show
that the plaintiff s negligence contributed to the accident. Although Nike provided alcohol in the
work place it could argue that Jacobsen was voluntary drinking and was aware of the danger
arising from driving intoxicated. Therefore, he knew the risk and voluntarily assumed the risk by

engaging in the behavior. Also Nike could claim that it does not owe a duty of care to Jacobsen
because he was released of his duties when he was driving.

In any realm of the world, it is always better to be safe than sorry. The decision made should be
that the company change it policy and implement the one that requires complete exclusions of
women with childbearing capacity from high lead exposure positions. According to the law book,
Consequentialism deals with the ethics and morality of the consequence of actions instead of the
actual actions themselves, so in other words, lying itself is not unethical, but the results of lying

I.INTRODUCTION
DNS is a protocol with some protocols for computers in exchanging data over the Internet. The
process is to turn a website like google.com into an machine readable address like 8.8.8.8 and
8.8.4.4 for IPv4 that computers use for identification on the network. In fact Google Public DNS
is largest DNS service in the world which handles more than 400 billion requests a day. All the
computers or hosts on the internet use IP Address to establish a connection with site they are
need. With the DNS service, we don t need to remember the whole bunch of numbers stacked at
each decimal point. We just use a DNS server and appropriate name servers and access the sites
with specific names. And this DNS server manages a massive database which maps the domain
names to those IP Addresses.
On a short note, DNS server search for the domain name as per the User Request. This process is
named as DNS name Resolution and this means DNS servers converts the domain name to IP
