Summary Of The Victory Season
The Victory Season: The End of World War II and the Birth of Baseball s Golden Age written by
Robert Weintraub is focused on the 1946 Major League Baseball season after World War II
when America was ready to heal. During the war, parks were empty, the balls were made with
fake rubber, and all of America s favorite players were serving in the war. When players returned,
they exchanged their military uniforms for baseball uniforms and the sport of baseball quickly
became a key tool which helped many American s return to their normal, everyday lives. Parks
began to fill up again and a new era of baseball was born. Although so many soldiers returning at
once did cause some issues, the National League was very competitive and many thrived on it.
Weintraub discusses many events considered to be baseball s best times including: the difficult,
yet rewarding transition of baseball players from military service to the major leagues, The
Brooklyn Dodgers breaking the racial segregation in the league by signing a black man, Jackie
Robinson, the introduction of the Mexican League, in which American players signed with to
receive higher salaries, and the 1946 World Series between the Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis
Cardinals, where the Cardinals defeated the Sox in the seven game series. Weintraub strongly

One of the biggest events that really sparked the start of the new interest of baseball was the
building of the new New York Yankee stadium. By the outside being painted, light towers being
placed in the outfield, a two story concession stand being built, and corporate boxes being put in,
the Yankee s manager, Leland Larry MacPhail, was really setting the stage as to what baseball and
baseball parks would turn

Key Concepts Of Identity, Identification, Place And Social...
I am writing to compare two articles from two different sources. I will be exploring the key
concepts of identity, identification, place and social memory and how theses sociological
concepts are displayed within the articles. Identity is the process that informs the way in which
people see themselves and the groups they belong to and also how other groups categorize a
person. Pountney and Maric (2015) pages 144 5. Identity is relational, situational and multiple. It
is better to understand identification as a process of continual negotiation and renegotiation. This
statement confirms our identities are forever changing due to our circumstances or surrounding
environments and certain aspects of our identities are chosen and negotiated. The Sikh youths
in the UK prove this theory through this statement; There s a time to be Indian and a time to be
British K. Hall (2002). Identification is the ongoing process that describes the way in which
individuals and groups see themselves and the way others see them. It refers to the way people
develop their cultural identity; language, ethnicity, religion and social class are all examples of
social characteristics that give people a shared sense of belonging. Pountney and Maric (2015)
pages 144 5. Yi Fu Tuan discussed Place as a location created by human experiences (Tuan, 2001).
Whereas space may have no human connection, a place carries meanings given by humans. It can
be any size a city, neighbourhood or a

Florida Temperature Climate
Bradenton, Florida temperatures climates are similar to those of the tropics. Looking at the
climatological chart above we can see that the second day of each month of August, September,
October, March, May and July temperatures can range from eighty one degrees to a record high of
ninety six degrees, with low temperatures falling to sixty two degrees in May. In the slightly cooler
months of December, January, February, April and June temperatures did not exceed seventy nine
degrees, nor fall below fifty three degrees, therefore, making it feel more like spring. The coolest
temperatureoccurs in the month of November with only a record high of sixty seven degrees,
while a low temperature of forty six degrees resembles a more fall like temperature.

What Is Your Favorite Person Essay
Your favorite person: a borderline personality discovery
For the past weeks I have been busy. My minimalism goals is going well at my own pace (I ll will
write about that one day) and every day there is something to do for me. Now that I have a free
weekend, I can sense that I might need people more than I think.
Being raised in a loving family, yet keeping things all to myself by playing in my room by
myself, made myself think I like being alone more than anyone. It s no denyiable fact that I m
introverted, so I need some rest from social interactions, yet the way I need people is too interesting
to ignore.
So what do I mean when I speak about a favorite person ?
See it as a crush. You find the person interesting, you like to know everything about them, you like
their looks, their personality and like to hang ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You ll notice the things you have in common, you ll think about them by the minute, you get happy
when they text you back, yet get really sad and even depressed when they are busy. You wantto
know more and more about them and want to hang out with them as much as possible. You re
basically eating the palm of their hands.
I use the comparison as being a dog who is filled with joy when they see their master. Wagging
their tail, doing everything the master wants and being very happy when they pat your head. And I
literally want to be patted on my head when my favorite person compliments me.
It s not really a crush anymore, is it? It s about power and being submissive to everything they want
you to do.
But, I have to add, sometimes a favorite person can be someone you fell in love with and that s
when it may get dangerous and confusing.
You can have a favorite person who is a friend, a family member, teacher, collegue, about anyone
you may meet. Because it s so hard to figure out wether it s love or an obsession, it s something
which makes BPD a different experience from someone who doesn t have the

How Did Henry Ford Influence Social Change
Exciting things started happening in the United States at the end of World War I. A man by the
name of Ransom Olds introduced the Oldsmobile in 1901. But a guy by the name of Henry Ford
had actually brought the automobiles to the people of the United States. He made the Ford Model T
a nice and trustworthy car that normal Americans can afford. Henry Fordthought of many ideas
and methods to make things a lot better and easier for production, working conditions, daily life,
and wages. Henry Ford influenced social change in many ways in the 1920s after invented the
nice and affordable Model T. Henry Ford was born on July 30, 1863 in what is now Dearborn,
Michigan. Henry was born on his dad s farm. Early in his life he had qualities that made him
seem that he was going to be powerful, successful, and famous. He was very interested in fixing
thing and building things such as engines. Ford and some of his friends built water wheels and
steam engines. Ford was always wanting to know more about full sized steam engines so he
befriended a couple of men that ran them. Ford s dad wanted him to run the farm when he died, but
Henry did not like that idea instead went on to build machines.... Show more content on

Henry Ford used mass production which cause its popularity to rise. Ford did use mass production
but, he was not the first to use this method. Only the wealthy and higher middle class could afford
cars in this century. Other companies used mass production to make sewing machine and

Wal Mart Is Not Guilty
Wal Mart is Not Guilty Approach any random stranger in America and ask them where they can
get their groceries, clothes, appliances, and electronics from at a cheap price and they will most
likely say Wal Mart. A pioneer of the one stop shop , Wal Mart has evolved from a small,
wholesome shopping mart into a world renown corporation. America has not seen a complete
domination of the market in this manner, since the mid 1900 s with General Motors. Wal Mart
has revolutionized the American culture of saving money. With all of the successes, there are
also many consequences and controversies that flood the corporation s name, making it also
one of the most infamous and negatively viewed businesses in the world. The unethical working
conditions, wages, and lack of benefits combine with the undeniable truth of Wal Mart s
monopoly of the variety store genre has deemed the company evil among many Americans.
However, there is a reason as to why Wal Mart is still exponentially growing in net worth every
single day. It is the success story that gives millions hope and strive to achieve. People may look
down upon Wal Mart, but it is a great asset to America as it provides jobs for millions of
Americans, offers necessities at the lowest price possible, and is the physical embodiment of the
American dream. Firstly, the amount of good deeds Wal Mart has served for the United States
outweighs that of any other corporation by the amount of jobs it provides for all types of citizens of

Essay about Birth Order
Birth Order
Does being the eldest child make people highly intellectual, people pleasing, perfectionists? Are the
middle children always impatiently competing for parental attention by rebelling against the rules?
Are all last born children the spoiled, selfish, favorites? Birth order, a highly controversial topic, is
defined as the dynamics of an individual s place in the family compared to that of their siblings.
Birth order has been in a fiery discussion for over one hundred years; some say it s the very
foundation of each one of our personalities, while others claim that the margin of error is just too
wide for these coincidental patterns to bear any meaning.
Alfred Alder, the first to study birth order and the family dynamics that ... Show more content on

Another famous, or infamous, characteristic eldest tend to portray is that of selfishness (Murphy).
Born into a life of privilege and not having to share a single thing gives them their first dose of the
selfish trait. They are the receivers of the first time parent pampering love, and they are the first to
experience the confusion that accompanies the birth of a younger sibling. They are not used to
having to share everything; therefore they act as if they are the Alfa male to the new arrival, which
also explains the previously stated dominant trait that domino effects them into the role of the
mentor.
One thing is for sure about eldest children: They are nothing like middle born children. Middle
children are dubbed as the outgoing, friendly, and loud sibling. All too often do they get lost in
the madness of the family dynamics and, in turn, develop a competitive nature. They are eager for
their parents approval and praise, but feel as if their older sibling received too much credit and
their younger sibling receives too little discipline compared to them (Neal). They are both teacher
and student, babysitter and babysat, too young for the privileges of the firstborn but too old for the
latitude given the last (Kluger).
Much could be said about the last born children because they seem to always fit the molded
stereotype of themselves. Their characteristics can be picked up on in a matter of minutes in a
conversation; there

Andrew Marsh And The Ethics Of Belief
The Christian faith goes back thousands of years, and has acquired a strong system of devout
followers from all different walks of life. The big question regarding Christianity is whether or not
there really is a God. Many have set out to disprove Christianity, including one of the major theorists
Charles Darwin with his belief in evolution. Unlike in the evolution theory, faithplays a huge part in
the Christian religionand without it they really rely on nothing. Can there be a valid belief system
without evidence? Christianityfalls short of being logical because of its lack of evidence,
inadequate reasoning, and harm it causes to believers. Without evidence, nothing can accurately
be proven true. In his article, You Know I Learned Something Today: Stan Marsh and the Ethics
of Belief, Henry Jacoby quotes English mathematician and philosopher W.K Clifford when he
says it is wrong always, everywhere, and for anyone to believe anything upon insufficient
evidence (Jacoby 58). The Christian religion is strongly based on Faith; the faith that the Bible is
nonfiction, that there is a heaven and a hell, and most importantly that there is in fact a God. Due
to the fact that none of these subjects have any documented evidence supporting their claims, is it
really in society s best interest to believe in them? If humans create beliefs based on the simple
fact that they cannot be disproven; however, they have no solid evidence they can be proven then it
is all turned into a

Four Characteristics Of Civilization
What is civilization? A civilization the stage of human social development and organization that is
considered most advanced. A civilization has eight different characteristics. Writing is one of
important in civilization but the most important characteristics are the religions, cities, and the art
and architecture. The first characteristic I going to talk about is Religion is one of the most the
important thing to civilization. A religion can start a civilization because people at have the same
belief can start their our civilization. The religion leader would have a set of rules outlining the
social norm ,religion rules , policies and needs a simple basis of what is expect from them. The
people something worship the gods (polytheism) so that the harvesting can be success and good.
When floods and droughts happen they blame the gods because the gods are angry so they ritual

lived like their chores , the preparing offering for the gods and sometime they place the offering on
the step of the ziggurat. They expressed their religion by building statues and ziggurats. Each town
had a ziggurat in the center of town. The Ancient Sumerians believed their gods live in the sky so
the gods could hear better and they need to be closer the gods. Ziggurat are huge temple that are

The Collective Societal Memory Of The World War II Essay
Elizabeth Heineman argued in her article that the collective societal memory of the experiences of
German women in the immediate aftermath of World War II greatly contributed to the development
of West German national identity, and directly influenced their eventual status in the partitioned
country.1 She suggested that in order to fully comprehend this history of memories it was necessary
to understand the distinctions and interconnections between what she refereed to as counter ,
popular , and official memories.2 In order to support this argument, the author conducted a series of
formulaic analyses on the German perception toward women in three major areas of Post War
German cultural memory; war rapes by Soviet soldiers; the experiences of women who rebuilt the
nation and the economy without much assistance from men; and finally those women who
fraternized with Allied soldiers. She began her formula by first exploring the universalization of
certain aspects of what became the stereotypical female experience of Germans at the end of World
War II through the immediate post war years.3 Next, she examined the effects of the
universalization of the female German experience upon the formation of the West German national
identity.4 This second point was further elaborated with an analysis of the relationship between
counter memories of subordinate groups and the public or popular memories of the dominant
culture, national identity, and culture of West Germany.5

Homosexuality and Religion
Opposition to gay marriage has increased since the summer and a narrow majority of Americans
also oppose allowing gays and lesbians to enter legal agreements that fall short of marriage.
Moreover, despite the overall rise in tolerance toward gays since the 1980s, many Americans
remain highly critical of homosexuals В and religious belief is a major factor in these attitudes.
A 55% majority believes it is a sin to engage in homosexual behavior, and that view is much more
prevalent among those who have a high level of religious commitment (76%). About half of all
Americans have an unfavorable opinion of gay men (50%) and lesbians (48%), but highly religious
people are much more likely to hold negative views.

But there is evidence that this issue could become problematic for the Democratic presidential
nominee. Voters who support President Bush are largely of one mind on this issue: More than
three quarters (78%) of voters who favor the president s reelection in 2004 oppose gay marriage;
more than half (53%) strongly oppose the idea. But voters who prefer to see a Democrat elected in
2004 are divided В 46% favor gay marriage, 48% oppose. A substantial minority of these
Democratic leaning voters strongly oppose gay marriage (25%).
The survey also shows that Americans remain deeply divided over the essential cause and nature of
homosexuality. A 42% plurality believes that being a homosexual is just the way that some people
prefer to live, no change from a Los Angeles Times survey conducted in 1985. But there has been a
rise in the percentage who say homosexuality is something that people are born with В from 20% in
the Times survey to 30% currently. The public also is split on the question of whether a gay person
s sexual orientation can be changed В 42% say it can, the same number disagrees.
Still, most Americans say they are comfortable interacting socially with homosexuals. Just one in
five say they are uncomfortable around homosexuals, while 76% say they do not mind being
around gays. Highly religious white evangelicals are more likely to say they are

The Pros And Cons Of Decentralization And Centralization
Decentralization and Centralization are the two types of structures, that we frequently hear when
advocates and critics discuss cryptocurrency.
On one hand, cryptocurrency advocates negatively allude to centralized solutions need for control
(e.g. Central Banks, Governments, etc.) and their lack of transparency (e.g. financial institutions).
On the other hand, critics of cryptocurrency refer to a decentralized system that disseminates power,
responsibility, and control to every and anyone. For example, the Bitcoin network.
Moving off the political path to travel down a technical path to best illustrate central and decentral
from a solution perspective.
No one would argue that a centralized solution shared among counterparties (e.g. Hub solution

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Youth Participation In...
The sport of tennis is often thought of as a country club sport limited only to the wealthy and elite.
Due to its financial requirements, people who are less fortunate are often denied opportunities to
play. Substantial expenses that accumulate from lessons, equipment, and membership fees deter
potential players from participating. Inner cityyouth are underrepresented due to lack of attainable
resources and programs. Aside from financial limitations, many junior athletes favor the
characteristics of team sports such as football, soccer, and basketball over the independence and
isolation of an individual sport like tennis. Not to mention, team sports are often far less costly. Due
to these drawbacks and perceptions, prospective junior tennisathletes are often more inclined to
take the route of a different sport. I believe that youth participation in tennis is deteriorating. As
an avid tennis player and advocate for the sport, I identify this as a major problem. Discovering
practical methods that introduce and attract younger players to tennis is crucial in expanding
participation. Broadening accessibility to tennis, demonstrating its positive values, and targeting
specific ethnic and social groups are worthy solutions in reversing the negative trend. Inner city
kids are some who have the most difficulty becoming involved in tennis. A large majority of
these kids don t come from an economic background capable of providing expenses required for
participation in the sport. Talented underprivileged kids may never have the opportunity to go to a
country club and take lessons. More often than not, urban areas lack the facilities and money to
provide tennis programs for their kids. This economic deficit becomes a major challenge for
impoverished kids who want to learn tennis. As a result, inner city youth neglect even the thought
of playing tennis, and become underrepresented as a part of the junior tennis community. By
finding a way to give the inner city kids of poorer, urban areas the opportunities to take part in
tennis, we can expect to see participation of youth rise. One practical method to encourage the
involvement of inner city kids is to implement tennis programs in public schools. By introducing

Tradition And Symbols In The Lottery By Shirley Jackson
The Lottery
Society follows traditions that have been passed down over time, although, many do not know the
origin. The short story The Lottery contains several symbols that were important throughout the
story. Old man Warner is a fabulous example of a man stuck in the old traditional way of thinking.
The old box, which hold papers, is another example the original tradition that has been around as
long as one can remember. Additionally, the stones also represent death and participation of the
group due to everyone joining. Old man Warner, the traditional box, and the stones are powerful
symbols within The Lottery that show the deeper meaning of what the lottery represents.
In The Lottery , old man Warner is stuck in his old traditional ways and feels the lottery is a
necessity. Warner represents the traditional way of thinking and reveals the origin of the tradition.

So it s the start of senior year, and I got this assignment to write a High School Letter to myself.
My first 3 years of high school were anything but normal . Still, the experience I ve had and

Still, with the ACTs coming up and all. I had to study, Collegewas on my mind and I knew I had to

Characterization In The Scarlet Ibis By James Hurst
The Scarlet Ibis is a short story written by James Hurst to illustrate the difficulties of living with
impairments. Hurst uses characterization by character s actions, character s speech, and character
s thoughts to create meaningful characters. In this story, Hurst uses characterization by character
s actions to demonstrate the life of a small, physically impaired boy. All throughout the story,
Doodle works to overcome the obstacles facing him, whether it is simply walking or even
running. Many children facing his predicament would simply give up, but Doodle s attempts to
succeed prove that he is both courageous and tough. Also, the narrator works to help his baby
brother succeed in being a normal boy, and he even goes to the extreme in pushing the weak child.
This shows that the older brother is motivated to help his brother, but he lacks the care and love
that he should be providing. Doodle s short life is displayed beautifully in this story with the use of

Communication can be a daunting task in today society. The forms of communication are
constantly changing and evolving. In the beginning stages of humanity talking was irrelevant. The
actions of a human spoke louder than words. However, the age of technology is slowly destroying
not only the communication but also the society itself. In the current age humans are living in a
life created for them. The people will have been trained to focus more on the outside world rather

The attitude of either male or female is a major component of communicating. Attitudes can
change in the blink of an eye. For instances, the wrong choice of words can quickly tick off the
opposite set. Either male or female has the power to say the wrong words and hostile actions
become available.
Arguments are the main focus within a distraught couple. Honestly, words carry an abundance of
power. A select word can be associated with a tragedy and will spark different attitudes instantly.
For example, couples will argue all the time. However, it isn t until one strike a nerve with a

Anything can trigger a past experience and it will take the person back to that unfortunate event.
Nowadays, with the lack of communications relationships are running off of trial and error. Which
means relationships will go down the drain due to the lack of attention from either side. When

Research Report On Neonatal Mortality
Introduction: World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that neonatal mortality contributed to
38% of under 5 mortality (1). Therefore reduction in neonatal mortality is an important target of
WHO (Millennium Development Goal 4 aimed at reduction under 5 mortality by two thirds by the
year 2015). This can be achieved by provision of high quality neonatal care units equipped to offer
continuous observation, monitoring and intensive treatment to sick neonates. In order to give the
best available services, these neonatal units need continuous evaluation. Studying outcome of
neonates admitted to neonatal units is an important parameter of evaluation. Worldwide, many
published studies reported very different outcomes in terms of mortality and morbidity rates (2, 3,
4, 5). This can be explained by different nature of population, different environmental conditions,
different study designs, variability in available resources and different patterns of neonatal
problems from country to another. Therefore mortality and morbidity figures can not be applied
globally and each neonatal unit needs to have its own figures. This helps strategic management
planning and redirection of available resources especially in developing countries where resources
are very limited. Aim: To study Outcome of neonates admitted to a neonatal unit in Upper Egypt

Loss Of Identity In Alan Moore s Watchmen
Rorschach s journal from the grave: It has been sometime since the comedian died. From then on
nothing has been a laughing matter. Us watchmen have been through nuclear war, murder, and ice
cold twists and turns. I feel like our story could be influential to anyone s life.
Through Alan Moore s exquisite writing and plot twists he encompasses identity, real world
problems, and nonВsuperhero like storytelling.
Identity is one reason why Alan Moore s Watchmenis one of the most influential books of all time.
Each character in this novel has their own identity and viewpoint of the world. The most amazing
example of this is Rorschach. He is my favorite character in this book simply because his
viewpoint on the world is to lookout for himself and what he ... Show more content on

The fact that this takes place in USA late 1900s makes this book more relatable. Also this novel
has problems such as love, hatred, and violent crime. These real world problems are what makes
this novel even relatable. There is nothing like seeing superheros go through the same struggles we
go through daily. Finally, another reason why this book is very influential is that even though it is
a novel about superheroes it does not follow how, normally, a superhero story would be told. For
example, in
Superman comics, the clear villain is Lex Luthor and the clear hero is none other than
Superman. However in Watchmen Adrian Veidt was thought to be a superhero for most of the
novel until it was revealed that he was actually a villain. Also, the watchmen are supposed to be
heroes yet most of them come from terrible or violent backgrounds. This makes this novel that
much more riveting.
In Summation, Alan Moore s Watchmen is one of the best novels of all time. I believe it is
because this book is the embodiment of identity, real world problems, and nonВsuperhero like
storytelling. Identity in this novel is led by in my opinion the best character Rorschach

The Government Inspector Essay

Essay #2

The Government Inspector
The Government Inspector, written by Nikolai Gogol is a satirical play, which is considered one
of the masterpieces of Russian literature. Gogol writes brilliantly about a small town in 19th
century Russia and aims to satirize human greed as well as stupidity and government corruption.
His ability to use comedy when dealing with serious political issues throughout the play is a large
focal point of the work and continues to be praised today. Nikolai Gogol was best known for his
short stories and was given the idea for The Government Inspector by Alexander Pushkin. Shortly
after its release, Gogol faced heavy criticism by the government officials that his play lampooned

The town s local government officials desperately try to mislead Khlestakov while he tries to
continue the charade and attempts to deceive them as well. Khlestakov even takes his deception
so far that it almost seems as though he is starting to believe his own lies. On the table, for
instance, is a water melon that costs seven hundred roubles. The soup comes straight from Paris
by steamer in the tureen: there s nothing in the world to be compared with its flavour! (38). We
can also see that not only did the townspeople attempt to deceive Khlestakov, but also they
essentially deceived themselves by the end of the play. Gogol is able to show how the chaos of
the government inspector s visit sent everyone into frenzy and did not actually accomplish
anything. Gogol s primary focus is that the human condition is imperfect and that we will
always try to save our selves when we are in danger as well as take advantage of any situation
that allows us to. Gogol did a great job of presenting this through Khlestakov s and the Mayor s
actions. Gogol s mission to explain his view of our perpetual chain of chaos is applied to the 19th
century Russian bureaucracy in a way that is not clearly evident at first but fits perfectly with the

A person who overcomes antagonistic and unnecessary issues in a mature and powering manor.
That is the definition of a hero to me. Someone who is being hurt and sees others hurt from the
actions and takes charge and does everything in his power to change it. Someone who puts
others before themselves and acts in the most chivalrous way. The definition of a hero is

Essay On How Cuban-American Relations Have Changed Since...
For my research topic I want to look into how Cuban American relations have changed over the
last year since the Cuban Thaw began and how they will continue to change. For decades the
United States and Cuba have had a tense relationship to say the least. With the end of the Cold War,
the leadership in Cubachanging from Fidel Castro to RaГєl Castro, and the leadership in the United
Statesswitching from President Bush to President Obama, I feel that the most optimal time for
change is now. President Obama has very little time to enact meaningful change in the relationship
between the US and Cuba. I want to research how the changes he s already enacted and those he
will enact (through the time I will be in Washington D.C. and through January) will affect relations
for the decades to come. The ambitions of the Obama administration to restore full diplomatic

will be restored with the expansion of the Cuban Thaw. The other possibility for an internship I m

Merry Pranksters And The LSD
When hear the name Merry Pranksters what comes to your mind? Let me guess a group of
young individuals dressed in a joker costume running around throwing water balloons from roof
tops or shaking hands with strangers to taze them. Merry Pranksters were not exactly known for
doing that, but they were group of young adults who did pranks with LSD. For instance, they
mixed LSD in a bowl of Kool Aid in their parties to get their guests high and this was known as
Electric Kool Aid Test. In the 1960s, heroes of the counterculture Timothy Leary, Ken Kesey
s
Merry Pranksters, the Beatles and the Grateful Dead embraced the practice of dropping acid,
viewing it as a great way to party and as the path to a higher consciousness (Ross). At the same
time, in the sixties violence was prevalent from Vietnam War, to protesters rebelling against the
government and U.S. was at a brink of starting World War 3 with the Soviet Union. As a result,
this made the American people pessimistic about their future, so they began to take LSD and
drugs. We can see things in today s culture that were partially inspired by the Merry Pranksters,
such as using LSD in order to be connect with the self, two distinct groups of LSD users and the
revival of psychedelic movement. Merry Pranksters were famous for using LSD and they used
higher doses of LSD because they felt that they were in touch with the nature spiritually and it also
gave them sensations that they never felt before. In reality, LSD is a

How Did Newton s Laws Change Beliefs About Force And Motion
Beliefs about force and motion before Newton s Laws were very different than beliefs after
them. One belief, which was from Galileo, resolved that any two things that fall together, fall at
the same time, even if they are as heavy as an elephant. Another belief was from Rene Descartes.
It stated that a ball traveling, which is uninterrupted, will keep going in a straight line. Beliefs
before Newton s Laws were exceedingly different than what they are now. Newton s Laws of
Motion changed beliefs about force and motion drastically forever. The first law of motion states
that an object at rest stays at rest (Newton/Slideshow). This law is also called the Law of Inertia.
Inertia is an object s intransigence to changes with/in, which is why the first law is called this
name. Newton s Laws have drastically changed beliefs about force and motion forever. Newton s
Second Law is about momentum, mass, and acceleration. It states, When a net force acts on an
object, it produces a change in the momentum of the object in the direction in which the force acts
(Newton/Slideshow). Normally, mass stays the same, so Fnet equals mass times acceleration. Also,

Today s military is a unique force in my opinion. What makes the US Military so unique is that
we have an all volunteer force. With that volunteer force there are rules and regulations that need

claiming that even though it may be considered an infringement on human rights and freedom of
expression, it protects the rights of the rest of the military and opens a loophole for gay men and

There are claims that allowing gays and lesbians into the service openly about their sexual
orientation is violation to all service members privacy. Officially, military commanders and
investigators are required to respect service members privacy and are not allowed to investigate
personnel for homosexuality. This action is described as a witch hunt. Witch hunts distract the
service members from their work and the Don t Ask, Don t Tell made this distraction easier. This
causes interference with the ability for them to do their job performance effectively. The United
States is not the only ones who use the DADT ban. There are several militaries all over the
country that has experienced this ban at one point. For example, they are Australia, Britain;
Canada, and Israel just to name a few. They have all changed or lifted their ban without any

King Asok Not More Than A Myth Essay
For a long time, King Asoka was thought to be nothing more than a myth. With several writings
concerning him, they all relayed too fantastical an image to be convincing as truthful, keeping
him in a legendary status. This all changed in 1837, well over a thousand years after his death,
when a scholar James Prinsep managed to translate writings on a stone pillar in Delhi. After
several other scholars raced to translate similar writings all over the Indian landscape, it was
revealed that this King Piyadasi was the same as King Asoka. Even with his history pieced
together, Asoka s history is still legendary. He started as a lowly person shunned by his own
father and grew to be a ruler of a kingdom that had never seen complete unity. But indeed, despite
the face of caring compassion he attempted to convey to the Indian people, and despite the reforms
he made to various sectors of his kingdom, it is clear Asoka was only using Buddhismas a way to
unite the people and, more importantly, keep them under his control. It is rumored that Asoka s
grandmother was a Greek princess, with his lineage being traced back to the Seleucus kingship,
and that his Asoka s grandmother would have told him stories of Alexander the Great and other
Greek warriors, inspiring Asoka and gearing him towards being the warrior he would become in
the Kalinga Wars. Asoka s mother is supposed to be the daughter of a Brahman, a Hindu priest. She
eventually married the King of India, one of the first of the

Advantages Of Dual Citizenship
Also known as multiple citizenship or dual nationality , dual citizenship refers to one who is a legal
citizen in two different countries, at the same time. One is able to retain his or her citizenship from
their home country, and attain another citizenship at the same time. However, this is applicable
only if both countries permit dual citizenship. As a dual citizen, one can have privileges such as
easy access to multiple countries without a visa. But as a dual citizen, one has to fulfill their duties
towards both countries, such as paying tax to both countries. There are over 90 countries that grant
dual citizenship, some of them are United Kingdom, United States and Canada. Dual citizenship

This may cause friction between the foreigners and the native citizens, and result in serious

foreigners will have to follow the customs and ways of the natives. But problems will arise when
foreigners do not engage themselves in the country fully, and view the country as a place for
them to make a living. As a Singaporean, I feel that the local government should not allow dual
citizenship. Dual citizenship can be a wonderful thing, as one can enjoy the perks of being a
citizen from all over the world. However, citizenship is something that should not be taken for
granted. Singapore is a country bounded by many strict laws and fines. If dual citizenship is
allowed, who can guarantee that Singaporeans would not pack their bags and leave for another
country, which can offer the same benefits and more freedom? During times of war, which
country, will one, defends? Which country has a higher priority? If Singapore is plagued by
disasters or economic recessions, will Singaporeans remain in Singapore or leave with their dual
citizenship? By allowing dual citizenship, the sense of loyalty towards Singapore is reduced. Dual
citizenship for Singapore could also mean that more and more foreigners will take up residency in
Singapore, and it could salvage the ageing population

The Matter of Whiteness
Richard Dyer said racial imagery is central to the organization of the modern world because he felt
most decisions that represent the practices of the world are based on white man s ideologies and
images in western culture. White people remain a large category that has not been examined in

long western American cultures subtlety allow privileges to whites because white people are not

For years some whites have hung, rape, shot, molested our people, but some of them could not get

Having a bi racial mother and growing up in Los Angeles, CA, as a child I was not familiar with
any openly bladed racism: although I do remember while traveling with my parent by car in the
late fifties on our way to Texas, we stop in Arizona for a much needed bathroom break. I saw
signs on the bathroom doors, one read whites only and the other read Negroes only, I read the
signs, but I didn t know what it meant, so I used the whites only bathroom, the white women just

I agree with him that we must study white imagery due to the fact it seems that most of the world

Reflection Of A Look At The Washed Ashore Sculpture Exhibit
This semester I attended the Washed Ashore Sculpture Exhibit. It is located on the campus of Iowa
State University in the Reiman Gardens. This event is related to Humanities because exhibit houses
many art sculptures made of trash. The trash is plastics and other house hold items that have
washed ashore in Oregon and Northern California. The purpose of the exhibit is to raise awareness
to the damages of plastic to the environment, what plastic can do to animals and ecosystems,
demonstrate how nonbiodegradable plastic is, and how much plastic there is in the ocean.
The exhibit is set up so that right as you walk it the butterfly exhibit entrance is off to your left,
and the research facility is off to your right. In between them is a hallway filled with Jellyfish made
of plastic water bottles and caps and other trash. At the end of the hallway is a pair of doors that
leads to a greenhouse that a bunch of plants and a large jellyfish. When you go outside, there is a
pathway that leads to each of the gardens and ten sculptures that is featured inside the Washed
Ashore Sculpture Exhibit.
I had four favorite sculptures in the gardens. One of my favorite pieces was the Polar Bear. Right as
you approached the entrance to the park, you are greeted by the polar bear. The polar bear
represented the results of global warming and loss of land for polar bears to live and hunt on.
Another was the Giant Jellyfish. Inside the greenhouse there was a giant Jellyfish hanging from the
ceiling.

Violent Video Games Cause Violent Crime
The most frequently asked question in recent years is, do violent video games lead to violent
crime? Most people would think that the answer is a simple yes or no answer, but it s not. This
type of correlation is not all black and white; there is a lot of misconception and misunderstanding
about it. In this paper, I will be discussing the history of violent video games. I will include
scientific studies done on violent video games. I will include various crimecases involving video
games. I will discuss the effects of violent video games. Lastly, I will give possible solutions to
prevent violent crimefrom happening. There is a lot of history when it comes to video games and
violent video games, but the earliest violent video games have been around since the 1970s. In
1976, Death Race was the first video game criticized for its violence. The goal of this game was to
run over human like creatures known as gremlins that made an unrealistic human screaming
sound when struck. Since the 1970s, everything has gone downhill. In the 1980s, beloved games
we know today like Pac Man and Super Mario Bros faced criticism for their cartoon violence.
This is because of Pac Man killing the ghosts and Mario attacking various enemies to achieve his
goal to get to the next level. One of the first graphic violent video games is Mortal Kombat; this

In the case of Jacobsen vs. Nike Canada Ltd, Mr. Jacobsen an employer of Nike Canada Ltd was

prove that the defendant (Nike Canada Ltd.) was negligent in all the four elements of Negligence

Was there a breach of standard of care?
Nike is obligated to provide a safe working environment particularly if the job is inherently
dangerous. The employer (Nike) must hire competent representatives. Nike s representative,
supplied the workers with considerable amounts of beer. Providing alcohol while at work
jeopardizes work safety and as a result breaches the duty of care that the employer is obligated to
provide.
Causation?
It is very clear that alcohol consumption is the main cause of the accident. Applying the but for test
we can say: but for consuming the alcohol, the collision would not have occurred.
Damages?
Nike failed to exercise reasonable care and as a result Mr. Jacobsen was involved in a single vehicle
accident, which left him with physical damages (quadriplegic).
Counter Argument Assumption of Risk and Contributory Negligence
Nike could use assumption of risk and contributory negligence as part of their defense and show
that the plaintiff s negligence contributed to the accident. Although Nike provided alcohol in the
work place it could argue that Jacobsen was voluntary drinking and was aware of the danger
arising from driving intoxicated. Therefore, he knew the risk and voluntarily assumed the risk by
engaging in the behavior. Also Nike could claim that it does not owe a duty of care to Jacobsen
because he was released of his duties when he was driving.

Fetus Lead Contamination
My company has consistently tried to reduce lead exposure to its employee s. In fact, they are
the ones that initiated programs to decrease the lead exposure to its workers. Whenever
employees receive a doctor s report stating that his or her lead blood levels are high, they would
be transferred out with benefits. It s been proven that lead is toxic and can have ill effects on an
unborn child, and these effects may not manifest themselves immediately at birth. In addition to
that, lead levels that may be safe for a fully grown adult are still toxic to a developing infant fetus.

In any realm of the world, it is always better to be safe than sorry. The decision made should be
that the company change it policy and implement the one that requires complete exclusions of
women with childbearing capacity from high lead exposure positions. According to the law book,
Consequentialism deals with the ethics and morality of the consequence of actions instead of the
actual actions themselves, so in other words, lying itself is not unethical, but the results of lying
may indeed be unethical. While it may not be fair or necessarily ethical to exclude women from
those toxic environments, the end result of the policy change would be ethical because it would
prevent the lead from ever having the chance of affecting the potential unplanned child. The
potential unborn child is the most affected from the policy change and stands to gain the most out
of it; by implementing the policy, it would give the children of any unplanned pregnancies the
opportunity to live a normal life without any defects due to the absence of toxic lead levels. The
end result of a healthy baby justifies the means of potential unethical exclusion of women from a
toxic even if they want to environment. In order to enforce and monitor the policy, any potential
eligible women who wish to work in the toxic lead environment would be subject to a medical

The Influence Of The Middle Ages In Medieval Europe
Were the Middle Ages in Europe characterized more by hope or desire?
The early middle ages in Europe were characterized by conflict. Vikings, Eastern tribes, and Muslim
armies battered the continent from all sides. Most of the emperors were too weak to fight off the
threats after emperor charlemagne. Powerful nobles independently controlled their own land, in
which they usually were servile to their emperor. Feudalism then became the main political, social,
and economic organization of medieval Europe. Serfs worked as primarily farms but could be

11. A. Ionic bonds are formed when elements give up their outermost electrons to another element
or atom, resulting in an ion , according to the Biological Molecules and pH lab. An example of this,
is when one atom becomes a negatively charged anion from taking a negative electron from another
atom, that other atom becomes a positively charged cation. These two atoms attract each other
because they have now become oppositely charged.
B. Covalent bonds are formed when two atoms share electrons. The amount of bond (single,
double, and triple bonds) depends on the amount of electrons being shared. The number of bonds is
based on the amount of electrons needed in order to fill the outer shell. For example, if the outer
shell of hydrogen contains 5 electrons, than that hydrogen atom can form 5 possible

to reduce those.
I.INTRODUCTION
DNS is a protocol with some protocols for computers in exchanging data over the Internet. The
process is to turn a website like google.com into an machine readable address like 8.8.8.8 and
8.8.4.4 for IPv4 that computers use for identification on the network. In fact Google Public DNS
is largest DNS service in the world which handles more than 400 billion requests a day. All the
computers or hosts on the internet use IP Address to establish a connection with site they are
need. With the DNS service, we don t need to remember the whole bunch of numbers stacked at
each decimal point. We just use a DNS server and appropriate name servers and access the sites
with specific names. And this DNS server manages a massive database which maps the domain
names to those IP Addresses.
On a short note, DNS server search for the domain name as per the User Request. This process is
named as DNS name Resolution and this means DNS servers converts the domain name to IP
address. As mentioned earlier, google.com has IP address of 8.8.8.8 which you enter directly into
browser will give you the Google s page. Web site s IP addresses are dynamic and some sites use
many IP s with only one Domain name.Without DNS servers, Internet access would be a lot tougher.
II.DETAILED WORKING OF DNS:
When you are trying to access a domain, the hose

Mind Muscle Vs. Mind Mush
Let us see what Hitler thought of the masses he moved and how he did the moving. The first
principle from which he started was a value judgment: the masses are utterly contemptible. They are
incapable of abstract thinking and uninterested in any fact outside the circle of their immediate
experience. Their behavior is determined, not by knowledge and reason, but by feelings and
unconscious drives. (Huxley, 1958, p.3)
If Hitler looked at mankind today with his opinion be the same? Would he succeed at moving the
masses to the deplorable deeds as he once succeeded in doing? The instinctive answer would be no,
of course not; but, there exist today a constant bombardment of information, distractions, demands,

Recently, my husband and I were watching television and noticed that advertisements were on
about 10 15 minutes of every half hour. That is anywhere from 30 50% of the time our minds may
be caught unaware from television watching alone without taking into account other forms of
common media. Why are there so many advertisements? One of the main purposes of advertising
is to persuade a consumer to buy a product or even to convince them that a product is needed.
Since there may be many brands of a particular product an advertisement will often entice you
toward a particular brand. As the economy grows, so does the amount of advertising to produce the
needed consumers to support the market. With each new technology we are subjected with more
and more distractions from having well developed mind muscles. This might lead one to ask why,
especially if you are educated, you were never taught how to deeply think and develop the mind as
you would any other muscle of the body. Harold Morowitz (2010), scientist and author, may have
just the answer: The problem of why the theory of knowledge is not taught in the schools is
relatively easy to see. Epistemology is, after all, a dangerous subject. If we start to question the
validity of statements, then the teachers themselves come under question...... Inquiry is indeed a
challenge to the acceptance of things as they are. (p. 2 3)
As a result there are established institutions, whether their nature is educational,

Alexander The Great Was Responsible For Developing World
During the fourth century, the ancient world was rocked by a dynamic political figure from the
unlikely territory of Macedon. Alexander the Great was responsible for developing one of the
largest empires the ancient world had ever witnessed. His military campaigns yielded major
territorial gains across multiple continents, earning him incredible authority and prestige up to his
untimely death. With the Macedonian throne newly vacant, a power vacuum developed as military
elites sought to seize control over the empire. Known as the Successors, these individuals worked
to build off of the success of Alexander and establish their own dominion over new lands. In their
time as monarchs, Alexander and the Successors were responsible for the livelihood of numerous
populations, including the Greek world. Alexander and the Successors maintained a strictly
political relationship with the Greeksas their monarchs, taking on the responsibilities the kingship
demanded.
As a political figure, the ability to win loyalty was crucial to the acquisition of royal power. For
this reason, it was necessary for Alexander and the Successors to maintain amicable relations with
their Greek citizens. A significant role Alexander and the Successors assumed over the Greeks was
military champions. During his military quests Alexander founded numerous cities in his name,
adding to his already impressive empire. Since he was incapable of overseeing his vast kingdom by
himself, he installed satraps to

The Romantic Era Of The Age Of Enlightenment
The Romantic Era was a literary movement that occurred in the late 18th century and the early 19th
century. During this movement, artists and authors alike rebelled against the established order and
classism of the time, and the values once believed in during the Age of Enlightenment (The
Romantic Era ). While the people of the Age of Enlightenment valued reason, and focused on the
new and original (The Enlightenment), the people of the Romantic Era focused on the emotions of
the individual, nature, and the narrowed outlook of life seen through the simplicity of
undereducated societies (The Nineteenth Century: Romanticism). .A number of the literary pieces
and artistic paintings from this time were based not only on the emotions of the artists, but were
also shaped by the changing world around them.
During the Romantic Era, wars were fought as countries were torn apart over the class systems and
the unjust treatment that the people of lower classes suffered. A list of the wars fought in this
period includes The Battle Of Waterloo, fought by the emperor Napoleon , which ended in 1815,the
revolutions of the countries France, Italy, Austria, and Prague, and The American Civil War, fought
from 1861 to 1865 (Romanticism Timeline ). Romantic poets like Walt Whitman, who experienced
the American Civil War first hand (Walt Whitman), used their experiences with the wars to create
their poetry. The elements of the arts, musical, literary, and illustrated, that the romantics

Religion And The Influence Of Karnak Temple
Ancient Egypt was a golden age in the human history timeline. The incredible wealth, architecture,
and religion held a key part in developing modern day society and contributed to the construction
of many other eras s including the Roman Empire and affected the Greek civilisation tremendously
(MAAT, 2017). The extravagance of the era echoes throughout history and creates a base of
knowledge that many modern day practices follow. Set on the banks of the Nile in Thebes, Karnak
Temple is the epiphany of the power the Egyptians possessed. As one of the largest religious
temples in the world, Karnak Temple covers around 200 acres of temples, pillars, lakes and
gardens. (Discovering Egypt, 2017). This place of worship shows the grip that religion held on
civilisation throughout the vast Egyptian empire.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the complex was never fully finished, the additions constructed to the Temple that began
with Senuseret 1 show the major effect of religion on the empire. Karnak s significance comes
from the rich history engraved into the stone. From stories of battles and pharaohs to gods and
wishes of good luck that are inscribed into the sandstone. (Karnak Temple, 2017). This proves the
significance of Karnak temple by focusing on the power of religion in ancient Egypt. Furthermore,
the effect the gods and the religion had on the way pharaohs ruled and the effect it had on politics,
the sway it had in everyday life and the civilians, and the advancements it held in architectural
importance all proves the significance of the Karnak Temple. Therefore, despite the ruination of

Structure and Functions of Different Classes of Neurons...
Structure and Function of Various Body Parts: Structure and Functions of Different Classes of
Neurons: Neurons are nerve cells within the nervous system that allow it to communicate with
body cells. Neurons are important part of the nervous system, which has the responsibility for
transmitting electrical and chemical signals in the entire body (Stufflebeam, 2008). Neurons are
required to demonstrate qualities of ability to respond to stimuli, being conductive, and ability of
secreting chemicals. Some of the most common classes of neurons include В¦ Motor Neurons:
These neurons are also known as multipolar or efferent neurons and are responsible for carrying
signals from the central nervous system to the glands and muscles ( Brain Cells , n.d.). While
they account for 9 percent of all neurons in the human body, they have numerous processes
emanating from the cell body. Consequently, these neurons are capable of stimulating muscle
cells in the entire body such as bladder, heart, diaphragm, glands, and intestines (Boeree, 2009).
Motor neurons are made up of short and divided dendrites and very long axons that don t branch
freely ( Nervous Tissues , n.d.). Sensory Neurons: They are also called afferent or unipolar neurons
whose initial function is to obtain initial stimuli from sense organs like ears, eyes, and nose and the
impulses generated from the body in reaction to changes that are necessary for maintenance of
homeostasis. These neurons have a single process or

Lastly, Tatum makes a point that racial identity can persist into Adulthood, it is not only in schools
but also in the corporate world. Part III Understanding Whiteness in a White Context: This section
discusses the development of white identity and how many white people neglect to really think
about their identity. Thinking about racemay make many people uncomfortable but having those
difficult conversations and acknowledging privilege and oppression is the action that needs to be
taken. Tatum suggests affirmative action. Part IV: Beyond Black and White: Disuses important
issues of other racial minorities including, Latino, American Indian, and Asian Pacific American.
Tatum also discusses identity development in multiracial families, this can be a complex identity
development with many factors coming into play, however, parental encouragement of biracial
identity has been seen as highly beneficial. Part V Breaking the Silence: This final section offers
suggestion on embracing a cross racial dialogue. We can no longer can be silent and must work
toward social change and a more equitable world for all. Reading Beverly Daniel Tatum s book

The Taconic orogeny is evidenced in the Hudson Valley. This orogeny has formed by the
convergence of the Laurentia and the Shelburne arc. The Taconic orogeny has led to the formation
of sedimentary rocks that can be classified into autochthonous and allochthonous, whereas the
Normanskill formation is autochthonous, and five distinctive thrust slices from the low Taconic
sequence are allochthonous. Another feature is the Cortland Complex, which is a late Ordovician
magmatic intrusion formed by norite, gabbro, hornblende norite, monzodiorite, diorite, hornblende
pyroxenite, and peridotite. The sedimentary rocks in the Dutchess county and Westchester counties,

  • 2. Summary Of The Victory Season The Victory Season: The End of World War II and the Birth of Baseball s Golden Age written by Robert Weintraub is focused on the 1946 Major League Baseball season after World War II when America was ready to heal. During the war, parks were empty, the balls were made with fake rubber, and all of America s favorite players were serving in the war. When players returned, they exchanged their military uniforms for baseball uniforms and the sport of baseball quickly became a key tool which helped many American s return to their normal, everyday lives. Parks began to fill up again and a new era of baseball was born. Although so many soldiers returning at once did cause some issues, the National League was very competitive and many thrived on it. Weintraub discusses many events considered to be baseball s best times including: the difficult, yet rewarding transition of baseball players from military service to the major leagues, The Brooklyn Dodgers breaking the racial segregation in the league by signing a black man, Jackie Robinson, the introduction of the Mexican League, in which American players signed with to receive higher salaries, and the 1946 World Series between the Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals, where the Cardinals defeated the Sox in the seven game series. Weintraub strongly focuses... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the biggest events that really sparked the start of the new interest of baseball was the building of the new New York Yankee stadium. By the outside being painted, light towers being placed in the outfield, a two story concession stand being built, and corporate boxes being put in, the Yankee s manager, Leland Larry MacPhail, was really setting the stage as to what baseball and baseball parks would turn ... • 3. Key Concepts Of Identity, Identification, Place And Social... I am writing to compare two articles from two different sources. I will be exploring the key concepts of identity, identification, place and social memory and how theses sociological concepts are displayed within the articles. Identity is the process that informs the way in which people see themselves and the groups they belong to and also how other groups categorize a person. Pountney and Maric (2015) pages 144 5. Identity is relational, situational and multiple. It is better to understand identification as a process of continual negotiation and renegotiation. This statement confirms our identities are forever changing due to our circumstances or surrounding environments and certain aspects of our identities are chosen and negotiated. The Sikh youths in the UK prove this theory through this statement; There s a time to be Indian and a time to be British K. Hall (2002). Identification is the ongoing process that describes the way in which individuals and groups see themselves and the way others see them. It refers to the way people develop their cultural identity; language, ethnicity, religion and social class are all examples of social characteristics that give people a shared sense of belonging. Pountney and Maric (2015) pages 144 5. Yi Fu Tuan discussed Place as a location created by human experiences (Tuan, 2001). Whereas space may have no human connection, a place carries meanings given by humans. It can be any size a city, neighbourhood or a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. What Is Your Favorite Person Essay Your favorite person: a borderline personality discovery For the past weeks I have been busy. My minimalism goals is going well at my own pace (I ll will write about that one day) and every day there is something to do for me. Now that I have a free weekend, I can sense that I might need people more than I think. Being raised in a loving family, yet keeping things all to myself by playing in my room by myself, made myself think I like being alone more than anyone. It s no denyiable fact that I m introverted, so I need some rest from social interactions, yet the way I need people is too interesting to ignore. So what do I mean when I speak about a favorite person ? See it as a crush. You find the person interesting, you like to know everything about them, you like their looks, their personality and like to hang ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You ll notice the things you have in common, you ll think about them by the minute, you get happy when they text you back, yet get really sad and even depressed when they are busy. You wantto know more and more about them and want to hang out with them as much as possible. You re basically eating the palm of their hands. I use the comparison as being a dog who is filled with joy when they see their master. Wagging their tail, doing everything the master wants and being very happy when they pat your head. And I literally want to be patted on my head when my favorite person compliments me. It s not really a crush anymore, is it? It s about power and being submissive to everything they want you to do. But, I have to add, sometimes a favorite person can be someone you fell in love with and that s when it may get dangerous and confusing. You can have a favorite person who is a friend, a family member, teacher, collegue, about anyone you may meet. Because it s so hard to figure out wether it s love or an obsession, it s something which makes BPD a different experience from someone who doesn t have the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Wal Mart Is Not Guilty Wal Mart is Not Guilty Approach any random stranger in America and ask them where they can get their groceries, clothes, appliances, and electronics from at a cheap price and they will most likely say Wal Mart. A pioneer of the one stop shop , Wal Mart has evolved from a small, wholesome shopping mart into a world renown corporation. America has not seen a complete domination of the market in this manner, since the mid 1900 s with General Motors. Wal Mart has revolutionized the American culture of saving money. With all of the successes, there are also many consequences and controversies that flood the corporation s name, making it also one of the most infamous and negatively viewed businesses in the world. The unethical working conditions, wages, and lack of benefits combine with the undeniable truth of Wal Mart s monopoly of the variety store genre has deemed the company evil among many Americans. However, there is a reason as to why Wal Mart is still exponentially growing in net worth every single day. It is the success story that gives millions hope and strive to achieve. People may look down upon Wal Mart, but it is a great asset to America as it provides jobs for millions of Americans, offers necessities at the lowest price possible, and is the physical embodiment of the American dream. • 8. Essay about Birth Order Birth Order Does being the eldest child make people highly intellectual, people pleasing, perfectionists? Are the middle children always impatiently competing for parental attention by rebelling against the rules? Are all last born children the spoiled, selfish, favorites? Birth order, a highly controversial topic, is defined as the dynamics of an individual s place in the family compared to that of their siblings. Birth order has been in a fiery discussion for over one hundred years; some say it s the very foundation of each one of our personalities, while others claim that the margin of error is just too wide for these coincidental patterns to bear any meaning. Alfred Alder, the first to study birth order and the family dynamics that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another famous, or infamous, characteristic eldest tend to portray is that of selfishness (Murphy). Born into a life of privilege and not having to share a single thing gives them their first dose of the selfish trait. They are the receivers of the first time parent pampering love, and they are the first to experience the confusion that accompanies the birth of a younger sibling. They are not used to having to share everything; therefore they act as if they are the Alfa male to the new arrival, which also explains the previously stated dominant trait that domino effects them into the role of the mentor. One thing is for sure about eldest children: They are nothing like middle born children. Middle children are dubbed as the outgoing, friendly, and loud sibling. All too often do they get lost in the madness of the family dynamics and, in turn, develop a competitive nature. They are eager for their parents approval and praise, but feel as if their older sibling received too much credit and their younger sibling receives too little discipline compared to them (Neal). They are both teacher and student, babysitter and babysat, too young for the privileges of the firstborn but too old for the latitude given the last (Kluger). Much could be said about the last born children because they seem to always fit the molded stereotype of themselves. Their characteristics can be picked up on in a matter of minutes in a conversation; there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Andrew Marsh And The Ethics Of Belief The Christian faith goes back thousands of years, and has acquired a strong system of devout followers from all different walks of life. The big question regarding Christianity is whether or not there really is a God. Many have set out to disprove Christianity, including one of the major theorists Charles Darwin with his belief in evolution. Unlike in the evolution theory, faithplays a huge part in the Christian religionand without it they really rely on nothing. Can there be a valid belief system without evidence? Christianityfalls short of being logical because of its lack of evidence, inadequate reasoning, and harm it causes to believers. Without evidence, nothing can accurately be proven true. In his article, You Know I Learned Something Today: Stan Marsh and the Ethics of Belief, Henry Jacoby quotes English mathematician and philosopher W.K Clifford when he says it is wrong always, everywhere, and for anyone to believe anything upon insufficient evidence (Jacoby 58). The Christian religion is strongly based on Faith; the faith that the Bible is nonfiction, that there is a heaven and a hell, and most importantly that there is in fact a God. Due to the fact that none of these subjects have any documented evidence supporting their claims, is it really in society s best interest to believe in them? If humans create beliefs based on the simple fact that they cannot be disproven; however, they have no solid evidence they can be proven then it is all turned into a ... A civilization has eight different characteristics. Writing is one of important in civilization but the most important characteristics are the religions, cities, and the art and architecture. The first characteristic I going to talk about is Religion is one of the most the important thing to civilization. A religion can start a civilization because people at have the same belief can start their our civilization. The religion leader would have a set of rules outlining the social norm ,religion rules , policies and needs a simple basis of what is expect from them. • 11. The Collective Societal Memory Of The World War II Essay Elizabeth Heineman argued in her article that the collective societal memory of the experiences of German women in the immediate aftermath of World War II greatly contributed to the development of West German national identity, and directly influenced their eventual status in the partitioned country.1 She suggested that in order to fully comprehend this history of memories it was necessary to understand the distinctions and interconnections between what she refereed to as counter , popular , and official memories.2 In order to support this argument, the author conducted a series of formulaic analyses on the German perception toward women in three major areas of Post War German cultural memory; war rapes by Soviet soldiers; the experiences of women who rebuilt the nation and the economy without much assistance from men; and finally those women who fraternized with Allied soldiers. She began her formula by first exploring the universalization of certain aspects of what became the stereotypical female experience of Germans at the end of World War II through the immediate post war years.3 Next, she examined the effects of the universalization of the female German experience upon the formation of the West German national identity.4 This second point was further elaborated with an analysis of the relationship between counter memories of subordinate groups and the public or popular memories of the dominant culture, national identity, and culture of West Germany.5 ... Homosexuality and Religion Opposition to gay marriage has increased since the summer and a narrow majority of Americans also oppose allowing gays and lesbians to enter legal agreements that fall short of marriage. Moreover, despite the overall rise in tolerance toward gays since the 1980s, many Americans remain highly critical of homosexuals В and religious belief is a major factor in these attitudes. A 55% majority believes it is a sin to engage in homosexual behavior, and that view is much more prevalent among those who have a high level of religious commitment (76%). But voters who prefer to see a Democrat elected in 2004 are divided В 46% favor gay marriage, 48% oppose. A substantial minority of these Democratic leaning voters strongly oppose gay marriage (25%). • 13. The Pros And Cons Of Decentralization And Centralization Decentralization and Centralization are the two types of structures, that we frequently hear when advocates and critics discuss cryptocurrency. On one hand, cryptocurrency advocates negatively allude to centralized solutions need for control (e.g. Central Banks, Governments, etc.) and their lack of transparency (e.g. financial institutions). On the other hand, critics of cryptocurrency refer to a decentralized system that disseminates power, responsibility, and control to every and anyone. For example, the Bitcoin network. Moving off the political path to travel down a technical path to best illustrate central and decentral from a solution perspective. • 14. The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Youth Participation In... The sport of tennis is often thought of as a country club sport limited only to the wealthy and elite. Due to its financial requirements, people who are less fortunate are often denied opportunities to play. Substantial expenses that accumulate from lessons, equipment, and membership fees deter potential players from participating. Inner cityyouth are underrepresented due to lack of attainable resources and programs. Aside from financial limitations, many junior athletes favor the characteristics of team sports such as football, soccer, and basketball over the independence and isolation of an individual sport like tennis. Not to mention, team sports are often far less costly. Due to these drawbacks and perceptions, prospective junior tennisathletes are often more inclined to take the route of a different sport. I believe that youth participation in tennis is deteriorating. As an avid tennis player and advocate for the sport, I identify this as a major problem. Discovering practical methods that introduce and attract younger players to tennis is crucial in expanding participation. Broadening accessibility to tennis, demonstrating its positive values, and targeting specific ethnic and social groups are worthy solutions in reversing the negative trend. Inner city kids are some who have the most difficulty becoming involved in tennis. A large majority of these kids don t come from an economic background capable of providing expenses required for participation in the sport. Talented underprivileged kids may never have the opportunity to go to a country club and take lessons. More often than not, urban areas lack the facilities and money to provide tennis programs for their kids. This economic deficit becomes a major challenge for impoverished kids who want to learn tennis. As a result, inner city youth neglect even the thought of playing tennis, and become underrepresented as a part of the junior tennis community. By finding a way to give the inner city kids of poorer, urban areas the opportunities to take part in tennis, we can expect to see participation of youth rise. One practical method to encourage the involvement of inner city kids is to implement tennis programs in public schools. By introducing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Tradition And Symbols In The Lottery By Shirley Jackson The Lottery Society follows traditions that have been passed down over time, although, many do not know the origin. The short story The Lottery contains several symbols that were important throughout the story. Old man Warner is a fabulous example of a man stuck in the old traditional way of thinking. The old box, which hold papers, is another example the original tradition that has been around as long as one can remember. Additionally, the stones also represent death and participation of the group due to everyone joining. Old man Warner, the traditional box, and the stones are powerful symbols within The Lottery that show the deeper meaning of what the lottery represents. In The Lottery , old man Warner is stuck in his old traditional ways and feels the lottery is a necessity. Warner represents the traditional way of thinking and reveals the origin of the tradition. • 18. Characterization In The Scarlet Ibis By James Hurst The Scarlet Ibis is a short story written by James Hurst to illustrate the difficulties of living with impairments. Hurst uses characterization by character s actions, character s speech, and character s thoughts to create meaningful characters. In this story, Hurst uses characterization by character s actions to demonstrate the life of a small, physically impaired boy. All throughout the story, Doodle works to overcome the obstacles facing him, whether it is simply walking or even running. Many children facing his predicament would simply give up, but Doodle s attempts to succeed prove that he is both courageous and tough. Also, the narrator works to help his baby brother succeed in being a normal boy, and he even goes to the extreme in pushing the weak child. This shows that the older brother is motivated to help his brother, but he lacks the care and love that he should be providing. In the beginning stages of humanity talking was irrelevant. The actions of a human spoke louder than words. However, the age of technology is slowly destroying not only the communication but also the society itself. In the current age humans are living in a life created for them. The people will have been trained to focus more on the outside world rather than the inside world. Studies show that the inside world actually produces the physical world. • 21. Research Report On Neonatal Mortality Introduction: World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that neonatal mortality contributed to 38% of under 5 mortality (1). Therefore reduction in neonatal mortality is an important target of WHO (Millennium Development Goal 4 aimed at reduction under 5 mortality by two thirds by the year 2015). This can be achieved by provision of high quality neonatal care units equipped to offer continuous observation, monitoring and intensive treatment to sick neonates. In order to give the best available services, these neonatal units need continuous evaluation. Studying outcome of neonates admitted to neonatal units is an important parameter of evaluation. Worldwide, many published studies reported very different outcomes in terms of mortality and morbidity rates (2, 3, 4, 5). This can be explained by different nature of population, different environmental conditions, different study designs, variability in available resources and different patterns of neonatal problems from country to another. Therefore mortality and morbidity figures can not be applied globally and each neonatal unit needs to have its own figures. This helps strategic management planning and redirection of available resources especially in developing countries where resources are very limited. Finally, another reason why this book is very influential is that even though it is a novel about superheroes it does not follow how, normally, a superhero story would be told. For example, in Superman comics, the clear villain is Lex Luthor and the clear hero is none other than Superman. However in Watchmen Adrian Veidt was thought to be a superhero for most of the novel until it was revealed that he was actually a villain. We can also see that not only did the townspeople attempt to deceive Khlestakov, but also they essentially deceived themselves by the end of the play. Gogol is able to show how the chaos of the government inspector s visit sent everyone into frenzy and did not actually accomplish anything. Gogol s primary focus is that the human condition is imperfect and that we will always try to save our selves when we are in danger as well as take advantage of any situation that allows us to. Merry Pranksters were not exactly known for doing that, but they were group of young adults who did pranks with LSD. For instance, they mixed LSD in a bowl of Kool Aid in their parties to get their guests high and this was known as Electric Kool Aid Test. In the 1960s, heroes of the counterculture Timothy Leary, Ken Kesey s Merry Pranksters, the Beatles and the Grateful Dead embraced the practice of dropping acid, viewing it as a great way to party and as the path to a higher consciousness (Ross). At the same time, in the sixties violence was prevalent from Vietnam War, to protesters rebelling against the government and U.S. was at a brink of starting World War 3 with the Soviet Union. As a result, this made the American people pessimistic about their future, so they began to take LSD and drugs. • 36. Violent Video Games Cause Violent Crime The most frequently asked question in recent years is, do violent video games lead to violent crime? Most people would think that the answer is a simple yes or no answer, but it s not. This type of correlation is not all black and white; there is a lot of misconception and misunderstanding about it. In this paper, I will be discussing the history of violent video games. I will include scientific studies done on violent video games. I will include various crimecases involving video games. I will discuss the effects of violent video games. Lastly, I will give possible solutions to prevent violent crimefrom happening. There is a lot of history when it comes to video games and violent video games, but the earliest violent video games have been around since the 1970s. In 1976, Death Race was the first video game criticized for its violence. The goal of this game was to run over human like creatures known as gremlins that made an unrealistic human screaming sound when struck. Since the 1970s, everything has gone downhill. In the 1980s, beloved games we know today like Pac Man and Super Mario Bros faced criticism for their cartoon violence. This is because of Pac Man killing the ghosts and Mario attacking various enemies to achieve his goal to get to the next level. One of the first graphic violent video games is Mortal Kombat; this game is a one on one fighting game where realistic human characters usually fight to the death. Nike is obligated to provide a safe working environment particularly if the job is inherently dangerous. The employer (Nike) must hire competent representatives. Nike s representative, supplied the workers with considerable amounts of beer. Providing alcohol while at work jeopardizes work safety and as a result breaches the duty of care that the employer is obligated to provide. Causation? It is very clear that alcohol consumption is the main cause of the accident. Applying the but for test we can say: but for consuming the alcohol, the collision would not have occurred. Damages? Nike failed to exercise reasonable care and as a result Mr. Jacobsen was involved in a single vehicle accident, which left him with physical damages (quadriplegic). Counter Argument Assumption of Risk and Contributory Negligence Nike could use assumption of risk and contributory negligence as part of their defense and show that the plaintiff s negligence contributed to the accident. Although Nike provided alcohol in the work place it could argue that Jacobsen was voluntary drinking and was aware of the danger arising from driving intoxicated. Therefore, he knew the risk and voluntarily assumed the risk by

It s been proven that lead is toxic and can have ill effects on an unborn child, and these effects may not manifest themselves immediately at birth. The decision made should be that the company change it policy and implement the one that requires complete exclusions of women with childbearing capacity from high lead exposure positions. According to the law book, Consequentialism deals with the ethics and morality of the consequence of actions instead of the actual actions themselves, so in other words, lying itself is not unethical, but the results of lying may indeed be unethical. While it may not be fair or necessarily ethical to exclude women from those toxic environments, the end result of the policy change would be ethical because it would prevent the lead from ever having the chance of affecting the potential unplanned child. The potential unborn child is the most affected from the policy change and stands to gain the most out of it; by implementing the policy, it would give the children of any unplanned pregnancies the opportunity to live a normal life without any defects due to the absence of toxic lead levels. The end result of a healthy baby justifies the means of potential unethical exclusion of women from a toxic even if they want to environment. Ionic bonds are formed when elements give up their outermost electrons to another element or atom, resulting in an ion , according to the Biological Molecules and pH lab. An example of this, is when one atom becomes a negatively charged anion from taking a negative electron from another atom, that other atom becomes a positively charged cation. These two atoms attract each other because they have now become oppositely charged. B. Covalent bonds are formed when two atoms share electrons. The amount of bond (single, double, and triple bonds) depends on the amount of electrons being shared. The number of bonds is based on the amount of electrons needed in order to fill the outer shell. Our main purpose is to understand the Security challenges faced in using DNS and better practices to reduce those. I.INTRODUCTION DNS is a protocol with some protocols for computers in exchanging data over the Internet. The process is to turn a website like google.com into an machine readable address like 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for IPv4 that computers use for identification on the network. In fact Google Public DNS is largest DNS service in the world which handles more than 400 billion requests a day. All the computers or hosts on the internet use IP Address to establish a connection with site they are need. With the DNS service, we don t need to remember the whole bunch of numbers stacked at each decimal point. We just use a DNS server and appropriate name servers and access the sites with specific names. And this DNS server manages a massive database which maps the domain names to those IP Addresses. On a short note, DNS server search for the domain name as per the User Request. This process is named as DNS name Resolution and this means DNS servers converts the domain name to IP address. As mentioned earlier, google.com has IP address of 8.8.8.8 which you enter directly into browser will give you the Google s page. Web site s IP addresses are dynamic and some sites use many IP s with only one Domain name.Without DNS servers, Internet access would be a lot tougher. Structure and Function of Various Body Parts: Structure and Functions of Different Classes of Neurons: Neurons are nerve cells within the nervous system that allow it to communicate with body cells. Neurons are important part of the nervous system, which has the responsibility for transmitting electrical and chemical signals in the entire body (Stufflebeam, 2008). Neurons are required to demonstrate qualities of ability to respond to stimuli, being conductive, and ability of secreting chemicals. Some of the most common classes of neurons include В¦ Motor Neurons: These neurons are also known as multipolar or efferent neurons and are responsible for carrying signals from the central nervous system to the glands and muscles ( Brain Cells , n.d.). While they account for 9 percent of all neurons in the human body, they have numerous processes emanating from the cell body. Consequently, these neurons are capable of stimulating muscle cells in the entire body such as bladder, heart, diaphragm, glands, and intestines (Boeree, 2009). Motor neurons are made up of short and divided dendrites and very long axons that don t branch freely ( Nervous Tissues , n.d.).
