Essay On The Untold Story Of Plymouth Plantation
The Untold Story of Plymouth Plantation The Puritan s voyage to the New World in 1620 is one
of the most well known pilgrimages throughout history. However, there are two different accounts
of the events to be discussed: one by William Bradford himself and another in the form of a
documentary. Bradford was one of the 102 people to voyage across the Atlantic in order to start the
Plymouth colonyin Cape Cod. He would later become a very influential leader. His version of the
events, entitled Of Plymouth Plantation, is his first hand account of his voyage and the settlement
of Plymouth. Bradford wrote his chronicle in plain style, a type of writing that is simplistic and
very straightforward. History Channel s A Desperate Crossing: The Untold Story of the
Mayflower, shows the events from an outside point of view. Bradford s use of plain style in Of
Plymouth Plantation, while historically... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It gives the history of the local native tribes, which greatly impacted the Pilgrim s survival in the
New World. It also goes into detail on the people who died, mentioning those who Bradford
chose to skip over, such as the ship hand that was the first of them to die on the voyage over.
Bradford says the following of his death, But it pleased God before they came half seas over, to
smite this young man with a grievous disease, of which he died in a desperate manner, and so
was himself the first that was thrown overboard. (Bradford 6). Here, he is stating that God chose
for him to die because he cursed at passengers and was overall an unholy person who, in
Bradford s mind, deserved to die. In modern times, we know that all of the settlers who died met
their ends from diseases and hypothermia during the truly horrible winter from 1609 10 or, like
the ship hand, died from disease. But aside from mentioning scurvy and the harsh winter, Bradford
cites only God as the source of the misery in

Analysis Of This Boy s Life By Tobias Wolff
This Boy s Life by Tobias Wolff is a raw examination of what happens to a young boy who is left
to steer life by himself. The grownups in Toby s life are too engaged with their own lives to pay
attention to him. His mother is self centered and irresponsible and never really says that she
wants Toby around. His rich father lives with his other son on the east coast and doesn t want any
relationship with Toby. This results in toby not wanting to make healthy connections with many
people that can have a positive effect on his life. Toby is left to do everything for himself, which
has a bad impact on his personal growth. His mother moves from city to city, whenever she thinks
that things aren t going her way. Since Toby has no role model and often

Linear Spirometry Lab Report
Thirteen adult subjects (five male and eight female) 19 23 years of age were gathered to
perform a forced expiratory volume (FVC) maneuver and have pulmonary testing conducted
during increasing intensity exercise. Respiratory measures for tidal flow volume loops were
measured using pulmonary spirometry. For this experiment, an MC TA 200V Metabolic Cart
was used to collect data. The equipment was setup as follows: a sterilized mouthpiece was
attached to a filter configured with one way valves to ensure only inspired air came in to the
system from the outside and the expired air was sent to the apparatus. Upon configuring the
mouthpiece, it was attached to clean bore tubing, which was then connected to the flow head.
From the flow head, two tubes separately connect to the spirometry pod. Before the first subject
performed their trials, the spirometry pod was zeroed once. If an additional file was used in
LabChart for a new subject it would be zeroed an additional time. It was important to ensure that the
data being placed into the LabChart data pad contained the first traces of both channels. Once the
subject had the mouthpiece inserted in their mouth and nose plugs were... Show more content on

Embracing Dream And Identity Of Hong Kong
Embracing Dream and Identity
In the 90s of the century, many important events happened between China and Hong Kong. Without
questioning, one of the most influential incidents happened during this period of time was Hong
Kong s reunion with China in July 1997; it transformed Hong Kong from a colonial dependent
territory to a Chinese administration region. The local Hong Kong people felt disoriented of their
futures and many of them came to the question of their national identities; it is because the different
political and educational system between Hong Kong and China makes the local Hong Kong
people feel differentiated from the mainland Chinese people. Since Hong Kong and China has
been separated for a few decades, the local Hong Kong ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many themes are depicted in these movies, and yet, the topic which has been most discussed is
the exploration of identity. I will discuss in the following of my paper on three Hong Kong
movies I pick, Full Moon in New York (Dir. Stanley Kwan, 1989), Her Fatal Ways (Dir. Alfred
Cheung, 1990), and Comrades, Almost a Lover Story (Dir. Peter Chan, 1997) as reference to
illustrate my idea into a deeper level. Full Moon in New York (Dir. Stanley Kwan, 1989), is a
tale of three Chinese women who has a different cultural background and immigrate to New York
out of their distinct purposes. Zhao Hong, starring Siqin Gaowa, plays a submissive housewife
who gains her legal status in U.S. after married to an American citizen, Thomas. Although her
husband and she are able to make a decent living in Manhattan, however, she is barely coping with
strange Western ways. The other two actresses in the leading role are Sylvia Chang and Maggie
Cheung. Sylvia plays as an aspiring actress and Maggie Cheung plays an ambitious successful
business woman. These three women meet at a diner, which Maggie owns, and their friendship
forges on since then. One of the most important themes has been portrayed in this movie is the
cultural conflicts between the Western and Eastern culture. Such differences are well represented in
the relationship of Zhao Hong and her husband. No

Trust In Healthcare
Trust factor when considering health care strikes at the apex in degree regardless of status or

instance donating blood, biomedical research volunteers, improved interaction between individual

Religious War
Have you ever wondered what it was like to be a warrior in the holy wars? Well, you mightn t
want to. These wars included lots of torment and bloodshed of the religious leaders. These
oppositions of religion were entirely wrong. Religious leaders showed hatred and anger to other
religions, resulting in them having wars.
To begin with, two of the three religions that were fighting in the religious war were against
slaughter and murder. As stated in the Ten Commandments of the Torah, Thous shalt not kill. They
all should ve listened to this commandment, but, instead, they attacked each other . On the other

The Importance Of Performance And Compensation Plans
Mrs. Miller is a dedicated teacher who has been teaching inclusion classes for 25 years and
teaches to truly make a difference in the lives of her students. She works with special education
students hands on and is not only looked at as an educator but a role model to these students that
she has formed such close relationships with. The state of Maryland has decided to adopt a merit
pay system in which teachers are paid depending on how well their students perform. A technology
system will be used to determine the amount of salary increase and decrease. This system uses four
steps to establish the pay. These steps include: establishing performance and compensation plans,

Merit pay could be a detrimental cut to her pay if she continues to teach solely the special education
students. The ethical dilemma is that Mrs. Miller could teach the advanced class and earn more
money because those students will perform better, or Mrs. Miller can stay with the inclusion class
and continue to change the lives of students like she originally intended to when becoming a teacher.
Regardless of the decision that Mrs. Miller makes, someone ends up at some sort of a
disadvantage, whether it be her students, herself, or her family. There are many other people to
consider when making this decision. The decision she makes will reflect her morals. This ethical
dilemma deals with professionalism and code of conduct. The stakeholders would include Mrs.
Miller, Ms. Smith, Special Education students, Mrs. Miller s children, and the school community.
In the case of an ethical dilemma, the best solution is not always clear. There are many different
individuals and circumstances to consider when finding a solution. The following solutions
address the dilemma Mrs. Miller faces. These include, Mrs. Miller teaches the advanced class,
Mrs. Miller teachers the special education class, Mrs. Miller teaches both classes along with Ms.
Smith, or that Mrs. Miller starts a petition against the merit pay system.
Carol Gilligan s Ethics of Care Framework is an appropriate ethical framework to use when
assessing this dilemma.

Essay On All My Pretty Ones By Anne Sexton
Crumbling under her myriad selves, Anne Sexton s poetry reveals through the journey of words
the labyrinthine setting that resides inside a disturbed mind. Intimate, almost with a sense, similar
to that of trespassing someone s private journals, her works bared her deepest and often darkest
desires for the world to read, scrutinize and often condemn. Poetry for her was a recluse, a
momentary escape route from her otherwise troubled mental state; keeping her more or less sane to
survive the wild, twisted world she built around her.
The genre of Confessional Poetry fit Sexton like a glove. She enrolled for workshops from Robert
Lowell at the Boston University and made close acquaintances with the likes of Sylvia Plath and
George Starbuck, meanwhile enhancing her only too verbally extrovert spirit. Over countless
martinis at the Ritz Carlton, the two women compared suicide attempts, discussed their mutual
enchantment with death, critiqued each other s work, and gossiped over drinks and free potato
chips.*
While studying confessional poetry, it is of key importance to understand that these poems do not

Alluding perhaps in the same vein as Macduff in Shakespeare s tragedy, Macbeth, the collection
chronicles her coming to terms with the vicious circle of life and inevitability hovering over the
living. The twin deaths of Sexton s parents in 1959 (her mother s succeeded by her father s) led
her to cling on to writing for dear life. Her poems thinly conceal her feelings of bitterness towards
them and thus vividly capture the essence of the conflict between holding them responsible for
desolating her and lamenting their loss. Using it as a vehicle to transport herself from these
worldly sufferings, she used poetry as a defense, as a healing ointment to veil the scarring of her

Fight Club is a movie based on the book of the same name written by Chuck Palahniuk. It was
released in 1999 as a film directed by David Fincher. The film, when first shown in theaters, did
poorly falling well short of what 20th Century Fox s expectations were. The major problem that
the film had was its negativity toward women with such lines as, we are a generation of men

is seemingly the root of all the nameless main character s problems. By contrast in the movie are

In many circles of Buddhism, they do not see themselves as religious but instead a philosophy
with no belief in a god or high power. Rather a higher understanding called nirvana. The Buddhist
tradition of nirvana is described as the extinguishing of the fires that cause suffering. These fires
are typically identified as the fires of attachment, aversion, and ignorance. Once again in this belief
we see the idea of letting go and becoming more aware about the self. There are many types of
enlightenment in Buddhism but the most prevalent is nirvana and the release from rebirth cycles.
Where there is nothing; where naught is grasped, there is the Isle of No Beyond. Nirvana do I call
it the utter extinction of aging and dying. There is that dimension where there is neither earth, nor
water, nor fire, nor wind; neither dimension of the infinitude of space, nor dimension of the
infinitude of consciousness, nor dimension of nothingness, nor dimension of neither perception nor
non perception; neither this world, nor the next world, nor sun, nor moon. And there, I say, there is
neither coming, nor going, nor stasis; neither passing away nor arising: without stance, without
foundation, without support. This, just this, is the end of stress. (Sakya 48) So what does any of

Your entire life is made up of two things, your luck and your decisions.
While some may say the character s in the short stories The Necklace , The Rights To The Streets
Of Memphis , and The Interlopers are affected by their own luck. The characters always made
their own decisions. The characters were put at a metaphorical cross road , they caused the events
leading up to the outcome of their own fate, and each character had the right to make their own
decisions.
Madame Loisel from The Necklace allowed for her greed to overthrow her which winded down into

Compare And Contrast My Fair Lady And Pygmalion
Pygmalion, a play written by George Bernard Shaw, first premiered on the 16th of October, 1923,
and was instantly met with love by both its actors and its audiences. Since its release, the story has
been made into several different adaptations, most notable of which being the 1964 musical film by
the title of My Fair Lady. This film, while called a musical, features quite an even mix of regular
dialogue and singing from the characters, making for an overall interesting experience. As
popular and beloved as it may be, no movie is exempt from the flaw of in some way or another
straying from its original ideas. My Fair Lady is no exception. Although there are moments the
characters seem to speak word for word from the early nineteen hundreds play, there are
definitely scenes and actions that must have been added to either move the story along quicker
or even sheerly add more interest to the plot. Although nothing extreme, the differences are
certainly noticeable. While it may not be something that drastically altered how the storyline
unfolded, the musical definitely showed more of Eliza Doolittle s life before Professor Higgins
took her on as his student. Her song Wouldn t It Be Loverly showed her dreaming of a better life
while dancing and having a good time with the people around her. She is depicted as knowing
many of them and they all treat her as a friend. In the original play, Eliza is made out to be more
of a lonely soul, scraping along with her flower business and

Social Justice In The Gospel Of John
If the Gospel of John is about light overcoming the dark and Mark about the miracles and actions
of Jesus. If Luke is the one most concerned with social justice, then Matthew is the one who wants
us to know that, if we remember one thing about Jesus life, it should be his teachings.
We know that it was important to Matthew because it s what he emphasizes in his text. The Sermon
on the Mount, which we begin today, is not only the longest segment of teaching in Matthew, it is
larger than the comparable examples in the other gospels. Matthew puts it first, and he makes it
bigger. Matthew chapter 5 through the 29th verse of chapter 7.

Matthew tells us it was on a mountainside, but it was really more of a hill. A hillside by the water.
Jesus is placed on the mountain because that evokes images of Moses. Jesus sat because that was
the way teachers taught in Jesus time.
Matthew then tells us that his disciples came to him to listen. How many disciples? Well, all we
know Jesus to have at this point are the four Matthew has told us about. The focus of last week s
text Peter, Andrew, and the Zebedee boys. Did Matthew really mean that there were only four
people listening to Jesus?
Disciples here, in Matthew, refers to disciples with a little d. Not the 12, but all who seek to follow
Jesus. The church. The faithful who sat on the hill to listen, the faithful who have sat in living
rooms and sanctuaries throughout the centuries, and the faithful here. Now. We are the ones Jesus
is teaching.[1]
And these words stand. These words of teacher Jesus. Heard for the first time. Written. Read and
heard again. Copied onto parchment. Printed on the page. Pixels on a screen. Experienced.

Feminist Perspective on Eighteenth Century Literature Essay
Feminist Perspective on Eighteenth Century Literature
Feminism during the eighteenth century has come to be defined by the literature of the time.
Women, who did not have as many outlets as they do today, expressed their political opinions
through literature itself. Although feminist texts existed before the end of the century, women
writers in the final decade were seen as more threatening to the dominant patriarchal system.
Following the overthrow of the government in France, women in Britain believed that a revolution
in sentiments, manners, and moral opinions was possible in their own country (5). Writers such as
Mary Wollstonecraft reacted to the conservative patriarchal society by [drawing] parallels between

Unlike men, women who sought political reformer were labeled as unsexed, meaning that it was
unnatural for women as the frail or gentle sex to harbor brutal thoughts, to want to be the equals
of men, or to meddle in politics, all of which make them perverse or unacceptable examples of
their kind (4). During the reactionary decade of the 1790 s, concerns normally thought to be
private and domestic women s education, their choice of husbands, female conduct, sexuality, and
manners became politicized as general topics of interest (14). The outspoken behavior regarding
their position was seen as inappropriate for women. However, not all women addressed these
topics with a radical perspective. Some women, who today would be considered a setback to the
feminist movement, took a rather conservative approach. Women s literary history, in terms of
feminism, can be broken down into three stages of development:
the feminine phase, in which women internalize the male culture s assumptions about female
nature; the feminist phase, in which women are able to dramatize the ordeals of wronged
womanhood; and the female phase, when women turn... to female experience as the source of an
autonomous art (14).
Authors such as Jane West and Hannah More were considered part of the feminine stage, Jane
Austen and Ann Radcliffe were associated with the feminist

Some social taboos broken are worse than others. While Divine holds the title of filthiest person

The Seven Deadly Sins In John Steinbeck s The Grapes Of Wrath
America is seen as hypocritical by many due to the lack of practicing the ideas it preaches. Whether
it be during the Puritan era, or during the 1930s, it is clear that American society is hypocritical. In
American literature, authors such as Fitzgerald, Hawthorne, and Steinbeck all bring to light the
hypocrisy in American ideals and in Americans themselves. These authors emphasize the need for
Americans to justify their sins. In Christian tradition, the seven deadly sins consist of lust, gluttony,
sloth, wrath, envy, greed, and pride. Steinbeck, along with Fitzgerald and Hawthorne, suggest that
Americans are hypocritical because they constantly need to justify their sins, and they show this by

The landowners act on the sin of greed because they refuse to share their land and cut wages for
workers. The landowners also make it very difficult for the migrants to find work. When
describing the land, Steinbeck explains And all the time the farms grew larger and the owners
fewer. And there were pitifully few farmers on the land anymore. And the imported serfs were
beaten and frightened and starved until some went home again, and some grew fierce and were
killed or driven from the country. And the farms grew larger and the owners fewer (Steinbeck
316). Steinbeck emphasizes the power of the landowners and their greed. The landowners restrict
the migrants and the farmers from achieving anything to stay on top. The landowners want wealth
and power for themselves, so they make it impossible for others to achieve success. The
landowners show hypocrisy because they prove the American Dream is not real because America
offers opportunity, but no farmers or migrants are given any opportunities. The landowners justify
that it is okay for others to starve, die, and fail because their wealth and power is more important.
The landowners essentially commit murder by allowing hundreds of families to die, and they
justify that it is okay because they are still gaining wealth and

Aeneas Definition Of Justice Essay
Plato, in the Republic, seeks to define justice while showing how justice is worthwhile and good in
itself. To him, justice is mainly centered around the idea of fulfilling appropriate roles. He
describes what justice is like in both the city and the individual, and appeals to human psychology
through this analogy. In Book IV, Plato completes this analogy by introducing justice
within the
individual. He claims that justice in the city parallels justice in the individual. Justice for the
individual, according to Plato, is about the fulfillment of appropriate roles and the relationships
among them. The question is if Aeneaslived a justly life or was he unjust. The focus I will have
will be how Aeneas was considered just off the battlefield by not being distracted and progressing
his people into the golden era .... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plato s definition again reuttered says, Justice as an individual is about the fulfillment of
appropriate roles and the relationships among them. Aeneas easily fulfills his role and more.
Aeneas could have given up and not gone through and abandoned his people from the beginning
when he was in sorrow that his people died but again it shows here that he in modern
terminology, sucked it up . In Book I it says, So, ran the speech. Burdened and sick at heart, He
feigned hope in his look, and inwardly contained his anguish. (Aeneid I). This quote showed that
even though Aeneas was saddened by the falling of his people that he had to hold it in and keep
strong to continue to guide and comfort his people in this time of disbelief and discomfort. There
is clear evidence that Aeneas was just in his actions but there are reasons that he could be
considered unjust but the evidence is substantially weaker in comparison to him being

Being An Outsider
No matter where one goes on this dismal chunk of rock, one will probably encounter an outsider.
In high school lunchrooms there is always at least one poor, sad teenager who has the unlucky
seat next to the trash can. In parks and school playgrounds there is always that one melancholy
kid that provides a stark contrast from the joyful shouts and screams coming from the other
playing children. The experience of being an outsider is an inescapable universal condition that
can be caused through social class, appearance, or other factors. Being an outsider is caused by
social class no matter where one is in the world. In Santha Rama Rau s memoir of her childhood
as an Indian girl in British controlled India, she talked about how she and her sister were seen as
outsiders in their British run school... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Ryszard Kapuscinski s lecture, Encountering the Other: The Challenge for the 21st Century ,
Kapuscinski argues that everyone is part of another group that is deemed the Other .
Kapuscinski states that Others are indeed Others, but for those Others, I am the one who is
Other (Kapuscinski, 22). Thus, being an outsider is a universal condition since we are all the
Other to someone else. However, some might argue that being an outsider is not a universal
condition as humans are by nature social animals so being an outsider is a rare occurence. To
this, Kapuscinski also states that being an outsider is universal as ...the Other is a mirror into
which you peer...a mirror that unmasks and denudes, which we would prefer to avoid
(Kapuscinski, 28). In other words, being an outsider is a universal condition even though humans
are social animals because the Other is a reflection of qualities that define a person and humanity
in general. The quality of being in outsider is universal as everyone is an outsider to someone else
and outsiders are simply reflections of who humanity

The Use Of Hack Into A Single Or Networked Computer
There are thousands of ways to hack into a single or networked computer. All hacker does not
have a notorious reason for trying to access a network. Many hackers are paid by a company to
find its network vulnerabilities. These hackers are known as white hackers or pen testers. The most
popular way to hack into a computer is with a certain attack named brute force.
The brute force attack is one of the most popular cracking methods., it is not just for password
cracking. Brute force attacks can also be used to discover hidden pages and content in a web
application. This attack is basically hit and miss until you succeed. This attack sometimes takes
longer, but its success rate is higher.
The success of the attack depends on various factors. Factors that affect most are password length
and combination of characters, letters and special characters. It does not make brute force
impossible but it makes brute force difficult. It will take a longer time to reach the password by
brute forcing. Almost all hash cracking algorithms use the brute force to hit and try. This attack is
best when you have offline access to data.
Brute force password cracking is also very important in computer security. It is used to check the
weak passwords used in the system, network or application. Brute force attack when an attacker
uses a set of predefined values to attack a target and analyze the response until he succeeds.
Success depends on the set of predefined values. If it is larger, it will

Vietnam War Ethical Analysis
No event in American history is more misunderstood than the Vietnam War. Richard Nixon, 1985.
Since the Vietnam War, there has been almost fifty years of remembrance, various readings, and the
publication of military documents. However, Richard Nixon s quote still has a certain veracity. The
United States has fought in many wars, but none have compelled Americans to question our
motives like the Vietnam War. The United States
should not have gotten involved in Vietnam,
because it was illegal, unjustified, and unethical.
The legality of the Vietnam War has been brought into question frequently since the Gulf of Tonkin
incident of 1964. Original United States documents blame the two separate attacks on United States
aircrafts and vessels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While many believe that the United States was fighting against communism, and communism
should be wiped off the entire face of this planet, one has to ask himself the question: is it really
worth it? However, the Vietnam War was not just botched. From the beginning, American
military officials brainwashed their soldiers into carelessly slaughtering millions of Vietnamese
for the crime of being communists. If any Vietnamese hesitated for a millisecond on listening to
an order, he was shot. If any Vietnamese was in simply in the way, he was shot. Aside from
Vietnamese casualties, more 58,000 American soldiers died in this forsaken war. According to
BBC News, the amount of ammunition fired per soldier was roughly twenty six times greater in
Vietnam than during World War II. Additionally, by the end of the war, the United States had
released the equivalent of about 640 Hiroshima sized atomic bombs on Vietnam. This begs the
question, what other things happened in this conflict that hundreds of Vietnam War novels have
conveniently hidden from the American public? Rape, torture, imprisonment, pillaging and
burning of villages, and starvation are just a few. According to Mother Jones, on August 31,
1969, a young Vietnamese girl was kidnapped, held at gunpoint, brutally gang raped, and
eventually murdered by United States soldiers. Her full story was told in the book Casualties of
War by Daniel Lang, one of the few exceptions to all the patriotic Vietnam War books out there.
Even more hidden from public scrutiny were crimes that United States soldiers committed against
other United States soldiers. A document from the National Archives tells the story of a man
called Curtis, who was viciously raped by three fellow GI s. His story is as follows: Curtis was
feeling sick that late summer day and wouldn t drink with his hootch mates, so they pounced on
him, held his mouth open, and poured whisky down his throat. When he

Catastrophe stuck in the year 1914 with the assassination of the Austrian archduke Francis
Ferdinand. For the next four years the cataclysm of the First World War followed. Many nations,
superior in their own being, were eager to join the war thinking it would only last for a few
months and end by Christmas. This was a chance for nations to assert their superiority and
leadership; however, a harsh realization was soon to follow. The assassination, meager as it might
be compared to the whole war, triggered the beginning of the war. Many nation states found
themselves polarized on the tangled issues involving nationalism, alliances, and militarization and

The Riot On Racism And White Supremacy Essay
In the year 1898 in the town of Wilmington, North Carolina a riot occurred between the African
American inhabitants and the white minority of the city. Several historians accuse the origin of the
riot on racism and white supremacy. Although these two beliefs have been around for countless
years, and African Americans received the right to vote almost thirty years prior, no demonstration
nor aggressive threats, to the point in which was seen in 1898, had occurred in Wilmington until
that year. The Wilmington Race Riot was the reaction of the sociopolitical conditions that were
being applied by the Democratic Party to win the election through a sequence of diabolical
campaign tactics just like creating partial accusations about the negroes of the town thus, creating
unconstitutional practices, and threatening their existence.
The African Americanpopulation had acquired notable ranks prior to the revolt, such as mayors,
firemen, City Hall janitors, positions on the Board of Aldermen, etc. Black and white neighbors
resided amongst each other. This was considered normal in Wilmington unlike any other place in
North Carolina up until the Republican Party won the election of 1894 . According to Robertson of

and also the Republican representative from New Hanover was African American. He nagged about

The approach of this article with today evangelism deals with the counterfeit faith of some people
proclaiming Jesus as their savior. However, if this faith does not show evidence by transforming
their lives, then does not deserved to be called saving faith. Such transformation has to show a
change on their behaviors. This does not stop there. A true Christian need to perform daily self
examination of its own testimony. Another false gospel is to separate incarnational from
informational apologetic. They go hand in hand as an absolute truth of Jesus Christ in
evangelism. Some would have us believe that incarnational apologetic is not necessary in our
society. But, they stand very far from the truth. Both incarnational and informational apologetic
are interlaced and important tools for our daily life. The practical application is to be able to
balance both terms in our daily life. What I m trying to say is that we should view it as a daily
self examination to authentically show the love of Christ in once life. In fact, the will of God
has never been that his children live under a colossal failure day by day due to this counterfeit
incarnational apologetic way of leaving. On the contrary, John said, for He who is in you is
greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). So, the connection between the two terms is very
clear. Therefore, God s message to us has not changed a bit. It remains

Religion And Its Impact On Society
Even before there were millions of copies of bibles in circulation religion has been a part of
society that has always been there. But is this idea of rules and regulations enforced by a belief
system really helpful to society? In a world without religion would there be less wars, hatred, and
discrimination? With so many people involved or affiliated with religionit is important to explore
deeper into the negative impact that religion has on society and try to make the world a better
place with information that will help all. At a personal level religion fulfills the role of
accounting for a lack of knowledge and offering hope in the face of difficulties while also offering
a sense of belonging. To identify with a religiousideology, and call it the only truth and way, leads
to the tremendously negative consequences of hatred, racism, and all kinds of violence. These
consequences of a world in disarray due to religion far outweigh the small personal fulfillments. As
Steven Weinberg, an American physicist and Nobel laureate states, With or without religion, you
would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people
to do evil things, that takes religion. Although religion claims to lead people towards truth, light,
and happiness, in reality it actually leads them in the opposite direction.
The most popular argument against religion in society is the fact that religion leads to war and
violence which then in turn results in poverty,

The History of Prison Reform
The History of Prison Reform
Introduction
The evolution of prison reform is a reflection of society s changing attitudes toward crime and
punishment. Prisons have progressed from simple places for incarceration where the primary
purpose is to protect the public to instruments of punishment where the loss of freedom is penalty
for breaking the law, to institutions for reform dedicated to mould the guilty to conform to society
s norms. Prisons were among the first public buildings erected in the New World. The city of
Boston felt the need of a house of detention when the town consisted of a mere forty homes. Early
American prisons were not conceived as houses of punishment. In English and American law,
political prisoners and high ranking prisoners of war were occasionally incarcerated, but few
common criminals could expect such treatment. Almost the only time commoners were locked
away was while awaiting trial, once a verdict was delivered, they were punished on the spot or
released (Lynch, 2011). The eighteenth century transformed not only the physical form of prisons
but their function and their place in American consciousness.
Discussion
Initially imprisonment was a means of detaining debtors to ensure payment, the accused before
trial, or the guilty before punishment. Courts imposed sentences including fines, personal
mutilation such as flogging or branding, or death (Johnson, 2011).
The only offense for which long term imprisonment was common was debt, though

American Social Psychologist Leon Festinger (1919-1989),
American social psychologist Leon Festinger (1919 1989), developed the theory of cognitive
dissonance. The premises of this theory suggest that attitudes and behaviors will remain in
harmony. Festinger believed that human beings want consistency with their thoughts and actions
and attempt to lessen the tension and avoid discrepancies (Mcleod, 2014). The article by Taylor
(2007) does a good job discussing the challenges between personal values, and professional
values. The article explains how the social worker must align these values and conflicts to make
effective and ethical decisions. According to Taylor (2007), professional dissonance is defined as a
feeling of discomfort arising from the conflict between professional values and job... Show more

Choosing just one professional dissonance experience was challenging for this assignment. One
event that took place this semester was during my advanced field placement, at Mazzitti Sullivan
Counseling Services. The agency provides substance abuse treatment and mental health counseling.
Formally, Mazzitti Sullivan was a small private practice. I the past year the agency was sold to
Pyramid Healthcare Inc. This large corporation provides a variety of services on the east coast. With
the change in leadership, policies and structural changes, the counselors and myself, as an intern,
have recently experienced a professional dissonance that is not in line with our values, morals, and
code of ethics for our specific professional disciplines. The dissonance occurs when the staff
members were informed that every individual seeking substance abuse treatment, whether the client
is mandated or self referred, must be attend group therapy. During this time, the client can have
individual therapeutic counseling sessions. Upon successfully completing group treatment, the
client may continue with

Essay On Bellamy s
What consumer thinks about Bellamy s organic company?
The Australian company Bellamy s organic formula has huge demand as per various news articles
and reports published all over the news. Compared to its competitors, cost of Bellamy s formula
has been reasonable and also known to be the best in quality. These two factors have made Bellamy
s, the most competitive and the largest supplier of baby formula in Australia. There weren t any
allegations against the company regarding the quality of the product supplied, the price at which the
product retailed or even the company s relations with its customers.
Due to the ongoing scarcity for baby formula, there have been several issues the company had to
deal with. One of the major concerns is the retailers. Bellamy s Organic realized that its retailers
were making huge profits off the sales of its baby formula. In order to keep the price reachable to
common man, Bellamy s decided to take matters into its own hands. They launched an online retail
store from which consumers can order the formula directly and ... Show more content on

the government and the company realized it, Bellamy s Organic baby formula was in huge demand
in the grey markets of other countries. As soon as the government and company noticed the
situation, several restrictions were imposed on the purchase and transport of the tins along with the

other countries while the consumers from Australia welcomed this move as it restricted the formula

Social Learning Theory Comparison Essay
In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting the behaviourist approach and the social learning
approach. The two theories by Burrhus Frederic Skinner and Albert Bandura are similar as they are
interlinked as learning theories but there are differences in each theorist s overall view of the
concepts within personality development (Comer, et al, 2013).
The behaviourist approach focuses on the view that behaviour is dependent on reward punishment
associations and on stimuli response associations and these actions and resulting behaviours can be
directly observed (Peregoy Maras, 2012). B.F. Skinner acknowledged two types of behaviour:
respondent behaviour and operant behaviour (Boeree, 2006). Respondent behaviour is the simplest

There are seven basic processes to classical conditioning. The first process is acquisition which
occurs when the conditioned stimulus elicits a response for the first time (Davey, 1992). The
second process is stimulus contiguity which says that the two events (unconditioned stimulus and
the conditioned stimulus) will more likely become associated with each other if they occur within
a small time interval (Davey, 1992). The third process is extinction which is when the conditioned
response weakens and disappears due to lack of reinforcement (Davey, 1992). The fourth process is
spontaneous recovery which is when the conditioned response re emerges after extinction has
occurred (Comer, et al, 2013). The fifth process is stimulus generalisation which occurs when the
response is elicited by more than one similar stimuli (Davey, 1992). The sixth process is stimulus
discrimination which is when the same response is not elicited by two conditioned stimuli (Davey,
1992). The seventh and final process is higher order conditioning which can be intentional or
unintentional and occurs when a conditioned response occurs to more than one stimulus (Davey,

Essay on Lord of the Flies
William Golding, the author of Lord of the Flies, used irony to tell his story of a group of young
British boys stranded on a deserted island. The readers can clearly spot the irony in the dialogue
and Ralph, one of the main character, is also aware of the irony in his situation. The irony in the
novel forces the readers to step aside and think about the hidden meanings the author is trying to
express.
br
br The first example of irony occurred in chapter two. Jack says to the group of young,
impressionable boys that We ve got to have rules and obey them. After all, we re not savages.
(Golding 32)However, in the following chapters Jack is the leader of the tribe and encourages the
boys to forget civilization and act upon their primitive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

br
br Piggy often says that they act like a crowd of kids . He says to Ralph that grownups know
things. They ain t afraid of the dark. They d meet and have tea and discuss. Then things В‘ud be
all right . This is perhaps the best example of irony in the novel. It is because the adults could not
get together and discuss their problems that they were stranded on the island in the first place. If
they had been able to meet and discuss they boys would have never fleed their school and would
have never been shot down, therefore avoiding ever being on the island.
br
br William Golding used irony in Lord of the Flies as a way to make the readers step back and
think about what he wrote. If he had not wrote the story with ironic twists and hidden meanings
many people would miss the meaning of the book. The readers would be able to finish the novel
without thinking about the issues that you are meant to ponder after reading Lord of the Flies,
such as evil, spirituality, society, man versus the unknown, man versus himself and many other
important themes in the

The United State Army Community
The United States army started in 1775 with only a group of volunteer fighters who opposed
against the rule and the oppression of the British. (Hogan 2005) The U.S army is still an all
volunteer fighting force today defending and defeating enemy threats to the United States. Since the
creation of the U.S army it has built on tradition and honor for its country and willing to defend the
constitution for more than two and a half century. Learning the culture of the United States Army

2015). From the data, today s army is a very diverse group.
Colonialism played a part in shaping and forming the Army community. The tension between
Britain and the colonies began to build because of the unjust rule of the colonies. The colonies
wanted to be independent and grow as a nation. Congress decided to declare independence from
the British and form the Continental Army. Previously, each colony had relied upon the militia,
made up of part time civilian soldiers, for local defense, or the raising of temporary provincial
regiments during specific crises such as the French and Indian War. The Continental Army
consisted of soldiers from all 13 colonies. (Hogan 2005) Like today s army the army is a diverse
group of people who were young, old, and came from different backgrounds. When they joined
the army they gave up to their way of life to fight what they thought was right. The army was not
very organized and well trained because on the lack of experiences. The army increased its

Night Decision Making
In today s society, many people are taught the difference between good and bad decisions. But
what truly prevents people from acting on these beliefs if they know what is good and bad?
Researchers such as John Darley, Bibb Latane, Milena Tsvetkova, and Michael Macy have
explored this question through numerous experiments. The first two factors of decision making
come from these findings, the pressures from society and diffusion of responsibility. First hand
experiences from a Holocaust survivor, Elie Wiesel, and from a brave citizen, Tara McCartney, tell
of real life instances of another factor, selfishness. Perhaps by paying close attention to the
complications of the human life, we can understand that people are truly prevented from acting...

In the article Introduction to Bystander Apathy , during the same experiment with the seizure,
they found that the subjects who did not report the seizure seemed more emotionally taxed than
those who did report the seizure. (3) This shows that when the subjects did act on their beliefs
they became emotionally taxed from their own indecision. They felt that they had to make the
correct decision because of what they thought others wanted them to do. In the article The
Science of Paying It Forward in the same study of the bystander effect, researchers also found
that when there is already help being given to a situation, you become a bystander who feels that
help is no longer needed. (4) The reason people do not act in these situations is because they don t
think the rest of society would want them to help. Whether or not that really is the case, an
individual still believes it to be true. In these experiments, the subjects being tested face indecision
when deciding whether to act or not. This comes from how we feel society would want us to act. If
we did not have society influencing our decisions, we would act without

Water For Elephants, By Sara Gruen
Throughout time, distinguished authors have succeeded in the goal of portraying the human
journey. There has been an innumerable amount of literature published over the years; however
what separates the extraordinary books from the appalling books, is the author s ability to
visually and emotionally move their readers. In order to establish a connection to the audience,
an author must understand human experience. In Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, two
narratives are used, one of an older Jacob, and one of a younger Jacob. This choice is made by
the author to help the reader fully comprehend the circle of life. Everyone succumbs to age
sooner or later, and while many books conclude with the narrator finding contentment at an early
age, this is not the case in reality. In the real world, most struggle to achieve fulfillment, by
creating an elderly Jacob, in this case it does not necessarily mean that a live has been fulfilled.
The old aged are sometimes just as clueless as the young. Sara Gruen discloses that the old are not
very different from the young; in many cases the old are still playing the game against the
formidable opponent of life.
We are introduced to an eager and naГЇve Jacob in the initial stages of the novel. However, Jacob is
introduced to the cruelties of the world all too suddenly, when the death of his parents is abruptly
thrust upon him. It states, I snap out of my stupor. There are people on that train. It matters not a

Horns as we know them today are the result of centuries of tradition. The history of this instrument
is particularly interesting because it wasn t used as a traditional musical instrument until not so
long algo. Just like early recording technology and synthesizers, the first horn models were rejected
by the public in their time and it took many years before they became popular. This essay will
summarize the history of the horn, from its predecessors to what it has become today.
During the beginning of mankind, instruments were carved out from animal horns to serve mainly

order to shift the natural harmonic series from a basic key to another . It basically depended on

Aztec Vs Inca Comparison Essay
Imagine the world today dotted with intricate stone temples serving as altars for human sacrifice.
Imagine further that these human sacrifices were considered mandatory through the state religion.
This is part of what life was like in the time of the Aztecs and the Incas. The Aztec empire and the
Inca empire were two of the first civilizations in what is now Mexicoand South
America. Formed within the two centuries of each other, they had several differences in their
cultures. Despite these differences, there were a considerable amount of similarities in the
civilizations. Life at the time of the Aztecs and the Incas was very thrilling.

time Huayna Capac died, the empire, also called Tawantinsuyu, stretched from Colombia to

these two empires show some similarities along with differences as well.
Both the Aztec empire and the Inca empire thought of the god that represented the sun as the
highest deity. They also both practiced human sacrifice and polytheism. Aztec religion was a
vast, uniting, and sometimes oppressive force and little distinction made between the gods and
the natural world. Gods of rain, fire, water, corn, sky, and sun were venerated. There were at
least 128 deities! Each god had both a male and female form, plus each god had at least five
aspects, each one associated with one of the cardinal directions and the center. They were
supported by a round of yearly festivals and ceremonies that included feasting, dancing, penance,
and sacrifice. All 128 deities can be broken down into three major categories: the gods of fertility
and the agricultural cycle, the creation gods, and the great traditional deities. the

Summary Of The Swallow Man
Section 1, Passage 1 There was no question that the tall stranger was not a reassuring presence.
There was a menace to him, a quiet intensity that was no way akin to the sort of quality that people
cultivate in order to attract the affections of children. All the same though, there was something in
him perhaps the part, that had spoken so easily to the swallow that fascinated her. (22)
After her father is taken by soldiers, a family friend, Herr Fuchsmann, allows Anna to stay at his
shop. When Doktor Fuchmann decides he can no longer care for Anna, he kicks her out. While
sitting on the curb, Anna meets the Swallow Man. This passage is the first time Anna sees the
Swallow Man. She is instantly drawn to him. This passage s description of the Swallow Man stood
out to me. The author describes the character as both reassuring and mencing. This mix of opposite
traits captures the Swallow Man perfectly throughout the book: he is a wonderful caretaker to
Anna, but in certain circumstances, can become a completely different person.
Section 2, Passage 2 Your name is just like your shoes, said the tall man. You have to be able to
get rid of it to give it over to someone else. All right, said Anna. So, said the thin man. You ll give
your name to me? You still get to hold it, but when someone calls it out, or asks you what yours is,
you must remember: Anna isn t you name. (48)
After he allows Anna to join him, the Swallow Man begins teaching her how to survive a war.

Analyzing The Poem Barter By Sara Teasdale
Analysis In the poem Barter by Sara Teasdale uses the symbol of bartering to represent the
loveliness of life. For most of the poem, the poet shows the things in life that people should be
able to enjoy throughout their lifetime, but to achieve that state of euphoria, a person will have
to go through trials and hardships. Throughout the poem Teasdale uses rhyme scheme adding to
her lyrical tone. Teasdale also uses alluring sensory language to attract the readers, and
exaggerate the beauty of the world. Having the ability to create such a masterpiece, Teasdale was
also able to take that masterpiece and use it to teach a valuable lesson, in which every detail
meant something. The first stanza of the poem starts out by almost as if it were setting the scene
using the sense of peacefulness and admiration to introduce the concept of what Teasdale is
trying to portray. Life has loveliness to sell, All beautiful and splendid things, Blue waves

spirit and uses the word holy. Both of these lines show the philosophical and psychological
perspective of life s blessings. Focusing on the peace of mind, soul, and the world in general,

  • 2. Essay On The Untold Story Of Plymouth Plantation The Untold Story of Plymouth Plantation The Puritan s voyage to the New World in 1620 is one of the most well known pilgrimages throughout history. However, there are two different accounts of the events to be discussed: one by William Bradford himself and another in the form of a documentary. Bradford was one of the 102 people to voyage across the Atlantic in order to start the Plymouth colonyin Cape Cod. He would later become a very influential leader. His version of the events, entitled Of Plymouth Plantation, is his first hand account of his voyage and the settlement of Plymouth. Bradford wrote his chronicle in plain style, a type of writing that is simplistic and very straightforward. History Channel s A Desperate Crossing: The Untold Story of the Mayflower, shows the events from an outside point of view. Bradford s use of plain style in Of Plymouth Plantation, while historically... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It gives the history of the local native tribes, which greatly impacted the Pilgrim s survival in the New World. It also goes into detail on the people who died, mentioning those who Bradford chose to skip over, such as the ship hand that was the first of them to die on the voyage over. Bradford says the following of his death, But it pleased God before they came half seas over, to smite this young man with a grievous disease, of which he died in a desperate manner, and so was himself the first that was thrown overboard. (Bradford 6). Here, he is stating that God chose for him to die because he cursed at passengers and was overall an unholy person who, in Bradford s mind, deserved to die. In modern times, we know that all of the settlers who died met their ends from diseases and hypothermia during the truly horrible winter from 1609 10 or, like the ship hand, died from disease. But aside from mentioning scurvy and the harsh winter, Bradford cites only God as the source of the misery in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Linear Spirometry Lab Report Thirteen adult subjects (five male and eight female) 19 23 years of age were gathered to perform a forced expiratory volume (FVC) maneuver and have pulmonary testing conducted during increasing intensity exercise. Respiratory measures for tidal flow volume loops were measured using pulmonary spirometry. For this experiment, an MC TA 200V Metabolic Cart was used to collect data. The equipment was setup as follows: a sterilized mouthpiece was attached to a filter configured with one way valves to ensure only inspired air came in to the system from the outside and the expired air was sent to the apparatus. Upon configuring the mouthpiece, it was attached to clean bore tubing, which was then connected to the flow head. From the flow head, two tubes separately connect to the spirometry pod. Before the first subject performed their trials, the spirometry pod was zeroed once. If an additional file was used in LabChart for a new subject it would be zeroed an additional time. The other two actresses in the leading role are Sylvia Chang and Maggie Cheung. Sylvia plays as an aspiring actress and Maggie Cheung plays an ambitious successful business woman. These three women meet at a diner, which Maggie owns, and their friendship forges on since then. • 11. Essay On All My Pretty Ones By Anne Sexton Crumbling under her myriad selves, Anne Sexton s poetry reveals through the journey of words the labyrinthine setting that resides inside a disturbed mind. Intimate, almost with a sense, similar to that of trespassing someone s private journals, her works bared her deepest and often darkest desires for the world to read, scrutinize and often condemn. Poetry for her was a recluse, a momentary escape route from her otherwise troubled mental state; keeping her more or less sane to survive the wild, twisted world she built around her. The genre of Confessional Poetry fit Sexton like a glove. She enrolled for workshops from Robert Lowell at the Boston University and made close acquaintances with the likes of Sylvia Plath and George Starbuck, meanwhile enhancing her only too verbally extrovert spirit. The film, when first shown in theaters, did poorly falling well short of what 20th Century Fox s expectations were. The major problem that the film had was its negativity toward women with such lines as, we are a generation of men raised by women , as well as its portrayal of the film s leading female character Marla Singer who is seemingly the root of all the nameless main character s problems. The Buddhist tradition of nirvana is described as the extinguishing of the fires that cause suffering. These fires are typically identified as the fires of attachment, aversion, and ignorance. Once again in this belief we see the idea of letting go and becoming more aware about the self. There are many types of enlightenment in Buddhism but the most prevalent is nirvana and the release from rebirth cycles. Where there is nothing; where naught is grasped, there is the Isle of No Beyond. Nirvana do I call it the utter extinction of aging and dying. Compare And Contrast My Fair Lady And Pygmalion Pygmalion, a play written by George Bernard Shaw, first premiered on the 16th of October, 1923, and was instantly met with love by both its actors and its audiences. Since its release, the story has been made into several different adaptations, most notable of which being the 1964 musical film by the title of My Fair Lady. This film, while called a musical, features quite an even mix of regular dialogue and singing from the characters, making for an overall interesting experience. As popular and beloved as it may be, no movie is exempt from the flaw of in some way or another straying from its original ideas. My Fair Lady is no exception. Although there are moments the characters seem to speak word for word from the early nineteen hundreds play, there are definitely scenes and actions that must have been added to either move the story along quicker or even sheerly add more interest to the plot. Although nothing extreme, the differences are certainly noticeable. While it may not be something that drastically altered how the storyline unfolded, the musical definitely showed more of Eliza Doolittle s life before Professor Higgins took her on as his student. Her song Wouldn t It Be Loverly showed her dreaming of a better life while dancing and having a good time with the people around her. She is depicted as knowing many of them and they all treat her as a friend. In the original play, Eliza is made out to be more of a lonely soul, scraping along with her flower business and ... Feminist Perspective on Eighteenth Century Literature Essay Feminist Perspective on Eighteenth Century Literature Feminism during the eighteenth century has come to be defined by the literature of the time. Women, who did not have as many outlets as they do today, expressed their political opinions through literature itself. Although feminist texts existed before the end of the century, women writers in the final decade were seen as more threatening to the dominant patriarchal system. Following the overthrow of the government in France, women in Britain believed that a revolution in sentiments, manners, and moral opinions was possible in their own country (5). Unlike men, women who sought political reformer were labeled as unsexed, meaning that it was unnatural for women as the frail or gentle sex to harbor brutal thoughts, to want to be the equals of men, or to meddle in politics, all of which make them perverse or unacceptable examples of their kind (4). During the reactionary decade of the 1790 s, concerns normally thought to be private and domestic women s education, their choice of husbands, female conduct, sexuality, and manners became politicized as general topics of interest (14). The outspoken behavior regarding their position was seen as inappropriate for women. However, not all women addressed these topics with a radical perspective. Some women, who today would be considered a setback to the feminist movement, took a rather conservative approach. Women s literary history, in terms of feminism, can be broken down into three stages of development: the feminine phase, in which women internalize the male culture s assumptions about female nature; the feminist phase, in which women are able to dramatize the ordeals of wronged womanhood; and the female phase, when women turn... to female experience as the source of an autonomous art (14). In American literature, authors such as Fitzgerald, Hawthorne, and Steinbeck all bring to light the hypocrisy in American ideals and in Americans themselves. These authors emphasize the need for Americans to justify their sins. In Christian tradition, the seven deadly sins consist of lust, gluttony, sloth, wrath, envy, greed, and pride. He describes what justice is like in both the city and the individual, and appeals to human psychology through this analogy. In Book IV, Plato completes this analogy by introducing justice within the individual. He claims that justice in the city parallels justice in the individual. Justice for the individual, according to Plato, is about the fulfillment of appropriate roles and the relationships among them. The question is if Aeneaslived a justly life or was he unjust. If any Vietnamese hesitated for a millisecond on listening to an order, he was shot. If any Vietnamese was in simply in the way, he was shot. Aside from Vietnamese casualties, more 58,000 American soldiers died in this forsaken war. According to BBC News, the amount of ammunition fired per soldier was roughly twenty six times greater in Vietnam than during World War II. Additionally, by the end of the war, the United States had released the equivalent of about 640 Hiroshima sized atomic bombs on Vietnam. This begs the question, what other things happened in this conflict that hundreds of Vietnam War novels have conveniently hidden from the American public? Rape, torture, imprisonment, pillaging and burning of villages, and starvation are just a few. • 32. The Riot On Racism And White Supremacy Essay In the year 1898 in the town of Wilmington, North Carolina a riot occurred between the African American inhabitants and the white minority of the city. Several historians accuse the origin of the riot on racism and white supremacy. Although these two beliefs have been around for countless years, and African Americans received the right to vote almost thirty years prior, no demonstration nor aggressive threats, to the point in which was seen in 1898, had occurred in Wilmington until that year. The Wilmington Race Riot was the reaction of the sociopolitical conditions that were being applied by the Democratic Party to win the election through a sequence of diabolical campaign tactics just like creating partial accusations about the negroes of the town thus, creating unconstitutional practices, and threatening their existence. The African Americanpopulation had acquired notable ranks prior to the revolt, such as mayors, firemen, City Hall janitors, positions on the Board of Aldermen, etc. Black and white neighbors resided amongst each other. This was considered normal in Wilmington unlike any other place in North Carolina up until the Republican Party won the election of 1894 . The approach of this article with today evangelism deals with the counterfeit faith of some people proclaiming Jesus as their savior. However, if this faith does not show evidence by transforming their lives, then does not deserved to be called saving faith. Such transformation has to show a change on their behaviors. This does not stop there. A true Christian need to perform daily self examination of its own testimony. Another false gospel is to separate incarnational from informational apologetic. They go hand in hand as an absolute truth of Jesus Christ in evangelism. Some would have us believe that incarnational apologetic is not necessary in our society. But, they stand very far from the truth. Both incarnational and informational apologetic are interlaced and important tools for our daily life. The practical application is to be able to balance both terms in our daily life. What I m trying to say is that we should view it as a daily self examination to authentically show the love of Christ in once life. In fact, the will of God has never been that his children live under a colossal failure day by day due to this counterfeit incarnational apologetic way of leaving. On the contrary, John said, for He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). So, the connection between the two terms is very clear. But is this idea of rules and regulations enforced by a belief system really helpful to society? In a world without religion would there be less wars, hatred, and discrimination? With so many people involved or affiliated with religionit is important to explore deeper into the negative impact that religion has on society and try to make the world a better place with information that will help all. At a personal level religion fulfills the role of accounting for a lack of knowledge and offering hope in the face of difficulties while also offering a sense of belonging. To identify with a religiousideology, and call it the only truth and way, leads to the tremendously negative consequences of hatred, racism, and all kinds of violence. These consequences of a world in disarray due to religion far outweigh the small personal fulfillments. As Steven Weinberg, an American physicist and Nobel laureate states, With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion. Although religion claims to lead people towards truth, light, and happiness, in reality it actually leads them in the opposite direction. The most popular argument against religion in society is the fact that religion leads to war and violence which then in turn results in poverty, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. The History of Prison Reform The History of Prison Reform Introduction The evolution of prison reform is a reflection of society s changing attitudes toward crime and punishment. Prisons have progressed from simple places for incarceration where the primary purpose is to protect the public to instruments of punishment where the loss of freedom is penalty for breaking the law, to institutions for reform dedicated to mould the guilty to conform to society s norms. Prisons were among the first public buildings erected in the New World. The city of Boston felt the need of a house of detention when the town consisted of a mere forty homes. Early American prisons were not conceived as houses of punishment. In English and American law, political prisoners and high ranking prisoners of war were occasionally incarcerated, but few common criminals could expect such treatment. Almost the only time commoners were locked away was while awaiting trial, once a verdict was delivered, they were punished on the spot or released (Lynch, 2011). The eighteenth century transformed not only the physical form of prisons but their function and their place in American consciousness. Discussion Initially imprisonment was a means of detaining debtors to ensure payment, the accused before trial, or the guilty before punishment. Courts imposed sentences including fines, personal mutilation such as flogging or branding, or death (Johnson, 2011). The only offense for which long term imprisonment was common was debt, though ... There has been an innumerable amount of literature published over the years; however what separates the extraordinary books from the appalling books, is the author s ability to visually and emotionally move their readers. In order to establish a connection to the audience, an author must understand human experience. In Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, two narratives are used, one of an older Jacob, and one of a younger Jacob. This choice is made by the author to help the reader fully comprehend the circle of life. Everyone succumbs to age sooner or later, and while many books conclude with the narrator finding contentment at an early age, this is not the case in reality. In the real world, most struggle to achieve fulfillment, by creating an elderly Jacob, in this case it does not necessarily mean that a live has been fulfilled.
