will be covered throughout the paper are: police discretion, race and policing, police corruption,

director Christopher Nolan highlights the importance of memory in forming one s identity. The
movie follows a man named Leonard who is determined to track down and kill the man who raped
and murdered his wife. Unfortunately, Leonard suffers from anterograde amnesia, meaning he can
remember everything leading up to the incident, but he is incapable of forming memories of
anything which occurred after his wife s death. Throughout his investigation, Leonard compensates
for his handicap by writing himself notes which he tattoos on his body. But as Leonard s
investigation moves forward, Leonard himself cannot. With his wife s death as his last memory, he
finds himself out of sync with the rest of the world as his identity remains stuck in the past. In
Memento, Nolan uses editing and mise en scene to reinforce the idea that a person s identity relies

Promp 2 Liesel Meminger was a girl that went through a lot throughout her life. During our short
time of reading about her life we saw her go through so many emotions, struggles, and different
changes. Throughout The Book Thief by Markus Zusak we see a girls story during the time of
WW2 and the Holocaust. We read this story of Liesel Meminger and wonder how anyone could
ever survive during a time like this, because for most people this was an extremely awful time to
live in. But through his use of imagery, and other literary devices, Zukas found a way to write a
perfect book describing this girl s life and to show how genuinely hard it was to live during this

The Long Profile Of A River
Introduction
In this investigation, I will be investigating the changes along the long profile of a river. In order
to do this, I will be collecting data and making observations at three different points along the river;
the upper course, the middle course, and the lower course.
The river which I will be conducting my observations would be on Bartley Water. Bartley Water is
a river going through the New Forest which is located in the south of the UK, Hampshire. The
source of the river begins from Bartley, 109m above sea level, and joins to its end at Eling,
flowing into Southampton Water. The river has a length of 27km and a catchment area of
40sqkm. It is a tributary of the River Test. The river bed contains of a mixture of sand, silt and
clay which can change as the river behaves due to erosion, transportation and deposition.
The sites which I will be investigating on are:
Site one is at Buskett s Lawn, grid reference: 309109
Site two is at Woodlands, grid reference: 325006
Site three is at Eling, grid reference: 362124
The surroundings of these areas differ at each site. Site one is mostly rural areas whereas, when it
moves onto the last site, it becomes an urban area. These will affect on the course and direction of
the river and its characteristics.
The long profile of a river describes how the characteristics of the river vary from the upper course
to the lower course. A quicker and easier way to present this idea is through a Bradshaw Model

Distinctions between tax evasion, tax avoidance and tax planning are sometimes difficult to be
drawn in clear and precise manners. In general, however, tax evasion typically relates to illegal
practices done intentionally to avoid tax payment, whereas tax avoidance refers to legal
exploitations on the shortcomings of the tax legislations (Barkoczy 2015, p. 721; Leow, Murphy
Hooper 2010, p. 1026).
Generally, tax evasion involves concealment of tax liabilities, such as failure to disclose all
taxable income earned, and improper claims, such as deductions for expenses not incurred
(Barkoczy 2015, p. 721; ATO 2015a). Due to its legal implications, tax evasion is considered as
criminal offence and attracts pecuniary penalties and jail terms for the offenders (Barkoczy 2015,
p. 722). Conversely, tax avoidance, although uncommendable, is not illegal. Tax avoidance
typically involves taking advantage of concessional tax rates, shifting funds through several
entities to minimize tax payable (ATO 2015b), and exploiting tax breaks (ACTU 2011). Some
examples of tax evasion and avoidance practices can be seen from the following figure.

plays Antigone by Sophocles, Trifles by Susan Glaspell and The Doll House by Henrik Ibsenare
great works that show how women can challenge the boundaries that were put on them by a
society that was not very accepting of feminism. In Antigone , it does not take long for our main
character (Antigone) to step outside of the boundaries set against women in society. Antigone s
brothers died in battle as leaders of separate sides, and only one was to be honored after death
while the other would remain on the battlefield. A strict ruling was put down by the leader
Creon that Antigone s brother Polyneices be left to rot, which Antigone quickly decides to defy.
After asking her sister Ismene for help with the deed of a proper burial (which was declined),
Antigone spoke of Creon by saying Nay, he hath no right to keep me from mine own (Sophocles,
Norton 11th Edition). Antigone breaks the obvious rule of society by going against Creon s
command to not give proper burial to her brother. This was not like many of the women of this
time period because women were not seen as equal in the decision making process,

addition skills. He understands how to add numbers together, but he is just confused about this set
up of addition. His error pattern is that if he has a two digit number in the first column he will put
both numbers in the answer instead of the numberin the ones place. For example, in the first
problem he adds 6 + 7 correctly (13) but he puts both the ones and the tens in the answer. Then he
brings down the 1 instead of what it should have been 1 + 1 (2) to make the answer 23. He follows
this same pattern in problems 4, 5, 7, and 8 as well. In the third problem he adds the tens digits first
3 + 8 (11) and puts one 1 in the answer and the other 1 over the ones place. Then adds 5 + 1 + 1 (7)
instead of adding 5 + 1 (6) and 3 + 8 (11) making the answer 116. He follows this pattern with
number six too.
