The Effectiveness Of Racial Profiling
Imagine you get shot because of your skin color. Your skin color that you can t change. For that reason
you get killed or discriminated. Racial profiling is a practice that some law enforcement use when it
comes to someone being suspicious because of their race, ethnicity and religion. In 2004, 32 million
people reported that they were unfairly singled out by law enforcement because of their race,
according to a new Amnesty International report (Goyette). One example of racial profiling is when
9/11 happened, Muslims have been more likely to be questioned more in airports. Historically
speaking, racial profiling has been around since the 1700 s in the United States and it still a problem
because innocent people are being targeted based on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Racial profiling is already illegal in some states because it goes against the the US constitution when it
promises equal protection under the law. But that doesn t stop them from doing it. There has been
steps that have been taken by some police departments to try to eliminate racial profiling. For
example, the Berkeley police department put out a policy on reducing racial profiling and training the
cops and different procedures to limit racial profiling. Also in San Diego, they enacted a way to limit
racial profiling by putting in cameras so they can video record cops communicating with the people
who got pulled over. Another way people see as a solution is to hire more female law enforcement.
Hiring more female law enforcement will help because they are less likely to use force against
someone and they when that happens, they re departments cost less because they don t get sued. A
study done by the National Center for Women in policing states that The average male officer is two to
three times more likely than the average female officer to have a citizen name him in a complaint of
excessive force. (Lonsway 2). The fact is saying that the average male officer is more likely to use
force and have a complaint than the average

My Summer Vacation
My Summer in Chicago
I couldn t help but to feel anxious and excited. It was my first time being in such a vast city and I
couldn t wait to explore it. The time was near the end of July, this is when my dad usually enjoys
taking our summer vacations, primarily outside of our state to somewhere else new and exciting. That
summer my dad decided to take a week long road trip and visit, Wisconsin Dells, Chicago, St. Louis,
and Madison. My dad said he wanted to show my sisters and I all the adventures he did in Chicago
when he was my age. I had felt joyful about the trip, I could not wait to see all the buildings and walk
down the Navy Pier. To tell the truth, I was more excited to visit Chicago a little more since it was
such an extensive city and I had wanted to visit there ever since I was younger.
A few days before the trip, my dad, my sister Nina, and I, had done some research and added up the
cost of the trip and looked for hotels and restaurants to visit during the time we were there and on our
road trip. After about an hour of research on Chicago, we had our plan of what to do for our time in
Chicago. That night, It was difficult to fall asleep, although I wasn t surprised I usually didn t fall
asleep right away before a vacation, I m usually too excited.
Morning soon came and my dad, my younger sister Niomi, my sister Nina, and I were all ready to
leave and finally begin the drive to Chicago. Not to mention, it would be about six hours to arrive
there. Finally, after

Fear Of The Invisible Man
The people of Iping scattered as the invisible man s infinite rain of terror engulfed them in anxiety. A
storm began and trembled as he penetrated into the village. Doors clattered shut, as the people
quivered in their homes. The obscure man s voice sounded like nails while he spoke, This village is
under me, the terror! No one in the small village of Iping was safe... no one. The Invisible Man, by
Herbert George Wells, combines innovated science with the morals of a human being. The invisible
man, who is named Griffith, was so fascinated by science that he turned himself invisible. At first,
Griffith enjoys the convenience of his new found power, but then discovers the consequences that
come with invisibility. On a quest to restore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author uses different formats of symbols to portray the danger that the power of invisibility and
the man possess. First, the invisible cat on pages 108 and 109, is a minor character in the novel, but
portrays a much larger picture. While Griffith was testing his invisibility potion, he decided to test it
on his neighbor s cat. The cat gradually became invisible, except with its emerald green eyes. The
invisible man threw it out onto the street and it became a ruckus for all of the community. The
invisible cat represents the first time that invisibility is revealed. At first, the cat did not know what to
expect from the invisibility, like Griffith. Then the community didn t know how to react, like the
village of Iping. The invisible cat was a stepping stone in the climax of Griffith turning invisible and
his impact on Iping. Next, when Griffith was forced out by his landlord to leave his apartment, he set
his apartment on fire. At first the fire started out compact, like Griffith when he became invisible.
Over time, the fire gained strength until it roared like a lion and destroyed other apartments until it
engulfed the entire building. This portrayed Griffith and his insidious actions toward the community.
At first the invisible only affected himself. Then his actions began to turn devious and grow, much like
the fire. Finally, the last symbol the author uses to depict a

How Did The Economy Affect The Mexican Economy
Decades later, another series of events led to a new wave of feminists. In the 1970 s, Mexico became
one of the world s largest oil suppliers to the world market. International bankers made loans to
Mexico, who promptly accepted them, but sooner than later the interest rates and debt rose to an
uncontrollable point. Intending to boost the country s economy, the Lopez Portillo administration
spent vast amounts of public spending on electricity generation, construction, the mining industry, and
manufacturing. However, the country s debt rose due to the US and other countries taking advantage
of their large amounts of oil. The world oil market collapsed, and with it, the Mexican economy. In
addition, an earthquake in 1985 killed almost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since husbands were away, the mothers became the heads of the family. Despite earning less than their
male counterparts, women tended to invest their money in the needs of the household, rather than
spending money for their own use. Without the male presence in the home, the families tended to be
smaller, and the family income was distributed to fewer members. Therefore their family per capita
was greater than when the men were in charge. The economic crisis of the 1980 s caused great harm to
the Mexican economy, but had lasting beneficiary effects on gender equality.
Because many men often migrated to other parts of the country or bordering countries to find better
work, the women were forced to join the workforce. Families assimilated to the lack of presence of
women at home, generating creative strategies to continue on. 70% of households bought less food,
clothing, shoes, etc. and spent less on transportation and food than prior to the economic crisis. There
was a dramatic increase of women aged twenty to twenty four in the workforce, rising by ten percent
since prior to the crisis. However, some social customs still remained. While the men still in charge of
families were able to eat the more expensive foods such as meat and eggs, female heads of the family
ate less hearty, unhealthy food, which mainly consisted of beans, tortillas, fruits and

Essay Lower Corporate Tax
A Case for lower Corporate Tax
Submitted by Student 201204997 on 11th of march 2013
Executive Summary
Policy Makers in the United Kingdom may as well take notice and acknowledge that lower corporate
tax can give essential profits to business competiveness without fundamentally hurting the medium
term budget viewpoint.
Several countries lately have reduced or plan to reduce their corporate tax rates in order to stimulate
investment, create jobs and promote faster economic growth. This includes the Ireland where the rate
of Corporation Tax has been kept at 12%.Recently published report of Northern Ireland (NI)
Economic Strategy, identified lowering of corporate tax as the single measure that might have the

Studies by Economist Lee and Gordon(2004) found viewed the connection between corporate tax
rates and economic growth for 70 nations over a 27 year period they discovered that statutory
corporate charge rates are fundamentally adversely related with cross sectional distinctions in normal
economic development rates and that reducing the corporate duty rate by 10 percent can deliver a
additional growth rate of 1.1%
Studies such as these provide strong evidence that lower corporate taxes do lead to long term
economic growth and by having high rates we retard the nation growth potential.
Competiveness
The Canadian legislature has set an unequivocal objective of having a lowest corporate tax in the
Group of Seven (G7) nations on January 1st, Canada brought down its corporate tax rate from 18
percent to 16.5 percent. the rate will eventually decrease to 15 percent. The Japanese administration
also affirmed corporate tax deduction by 5 percent with a specific end goal to increase local
investment and create jobs through improving Japanese firms worldwide competiveness and
improving business environment. Lee and Gordon (2004) argue that the elevated sticker value of the
nation high corporate charge rate not just makes the its economy less competitive all around, but also
it makes its business organizations less aggressive competitive they argue lower corporate tax rates

The Scale of Values in Alexander Pope s Poem The Rape of...
The Scale of Values in Alexander Pope s Poem The Rape of the Lock
I found Alexander Pope s The Rape of the Lock a delightful, amusing poem. Throughout the poem,
trivialities are compared with events and objects or consequence and the insignificant is treated with
utmost importance. Its very title gives the reader an immediate clue; rape and all its connotations bring
to mind a heinous crime of physical and spiritual violation. Perhaps this description could apply to the
theft of a lock of hair, but only in a world where normal morals are perverted. This skewed scale of
values is shown repeatedly throughout the poem, and supporting this alternate world are the sylphs. As
the souls of former coquettes, the sylphs exist solely to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here, the word militia brings to mind an imposing, well regulated army, rather than a gossamer
grouping of sprites bent on protecting beauty and virginity.
It is sylph Ariel that foresees the dread event of the poem s title. Ariel says to Belinda: Warned by the
Sylph, O pious maid, beware! / This to disclose is all thy guardian can: / Beware of all, but most
beware of man! (1.109, 112 14). Man, of course, is the coquette s eternal adversary. A lady must be
very careful; men may be allured and teased, but as prey they can be unpredictable.
Following this warning Belinda wakes and begins the transcendental toilet, one of my favorite scenes
in the poem. Pope elevates Belinda s morning preparations to the level of High Mass; a mystical,
spiritual experience in which miraculous transformation takes place. In this ritual, however, cosmetic
powers rather than cosmic powers are relied upon. (1.124). With the aid of the sylphs, Belinda begins
her grooming:
And now, unveiled, the toilet stands displayed,
Each silver vase in mystic order laid.
First, robed in white, the nymph intent adores,
With head uncovered, the cosmetic powers.
A heavenly image in the glass appears;
To that she bends, to that her eyes she rears.
The inferior priestess, at her altar s side,
Trembling begins the sacred rites of Pride. (1.121 28)
Here we see an example of the utmost importance of the superficial in the absurd

Aar 14-1 Airplane History Paper
Aircraft and Flight History AAR 14 01 was published by the National Transportation Safety Board

Inchon, South Korea to San Francisco, California. The flight was scheduled to be a 10 hour and 34
minute flight across the Pacific Ocean. However, the flight ended short of the runway and impacted
the sea wall at the end of runway 28L, destroying the aircraft. Flight 214 was a Boeing 777 200ER,

The NTSB noted that the commander placed an officer in charge of the fire attack that had not
received proper training. The crew had equipment that had not been utilized to its fullest potential,
particularly the high reach extendable turrets. The airport also failed to deploy its two emergency
medical busses to the scene. There was also an apparent communications break down. The NTSB also
noted that there was a lack of communication between the SFO airport rescue crew and local city
dispatchers, hampering rescue efforts by local agencies. CRM Factors There were several factors that
relate to Crew Resource Management (CRM). Notably the inability of the crew to maintain their
situational awareness during the approach. The crew became so task saturated in the approach glide
path that they ignored the throttle settings until it was too late to recover. Failure to monitor their
airspeed, while focusing on the approach path contributed as well. Fatigue of the crew, and
mismanagement of their afforded rest periods also contributed to the incident. The most rested
member in the flight station was the pilot monitoring with 3 hours of sleep in the previous 24

Importance Of Thanksgiving In 1777
The Continental Congress announced a Thanksgiving for the thirteen colonies in 1777, but it was only
a regional holiday. So in 1789, President George Washington declared Thursday, November 26 to be a
day of public thanksgiving and prayer. For the next two centuries, days of thanksgiving were
celebrated by individual colonies and states.
Until Sarah Josepha Hale, author of the nursery rhyme Mary had a Little Lamb, and editor of Godey s

She fought for 17 years and finally, during the Civil War, she convinced President Lincoln. On

Hiv And The Human Immunodeficiency Virus
HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus) is a lentivirus that results in AIDS (acquired
immunodeficiency syndrome). HIV attacks and destroys CD4 helper lymphocyte cells a specific type
of immune system cell. As a result, the body has a harder time fighting off other infections, making
minor illnesses more severe. The virus will go further to use those CD4 cells to create more of the
virus. Once so many CD4 cells have been destroyed, HIV will become AIDS.
This stage, the final stage, will make the recipient more vulnerable to infections and cancers. HIV
goes through multiple phases until reaching this point, however, the progression of each stage can be

Initially, the virus was thought to be connected to homosexuals, and HIV even had multiple names
relating to the word gay . Though bisexual and homosexual men are the most affected, with further
research and additional information, researchers realized HIV was affecting other populations as well.
In September of 1982, the virus was finally named AIDS. In 1983, the HIV virus was isolated,
identified, and soon confirmed as the cause of AIDS.
Now, approximately 36.7 million people in the world are living with HIV, more than 1.2 million of
those people are in the United States. Many of the infected people are not even aware they have
contracted the virus. It is estimated that 80% of the infected experience flu like symptoms shortly after
contracting HIV, however, once those symptoms subside, they may not experience more symptoms for
several years.
Depending on the stage of the virus, different symptoms will occur. The first stage, the acute infection,
is the one in which flu like symptoms begin to occur. They will occur anywhere between two to six
weeks after infection and may last several weeks, or even months. This is caused by the increase of
HIV levels in the blood. CD4 cells begin to quickly decline during this stage, causing the immune
system to kick in, making the CD4 count rise once again, but not back to its original count. During the

Learning English Is The Most Important And New Language

time I increased the surface are, I observed and noted down every different type of plant and animal
species, any present non living animal or plant materials, condition of the soil, different types of

Conflict And Internal Conflicts In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
The Epic of Gilgamesh tells a story of a powerful demigod whose internal conflicts prevent him from
becoming the great ruler he is meant to be. The story takes place in ancient Mesopotamia in the most
important city, Uruk. Gilgamesh was an impulsive king with much power who had no moral limits on
how he ruled his people. Gilgamesh lets no girl go free to her bridegroom (George 4) he ruled heavily
with an iron fist and his sexual desires brought fear to the women in the city. His unquestionable and
unchallenged power forced the people of Uruk to plead to the gods to end the torment of horrid ruling
and wish to live in peace. The God s solution was to create an equal being to balance the storm of
Gilgamesh s heart. Thus, Enkidu is created with a general purpose to complement Gilgamesh. As
these opposite characters cross paths, Gilgamesh is challenged and his authority is threatened. Their
agreement to fight lead them to figure out their differences and join to become the perfect duo. Slowly
Gilgamesh is exposed to situations, that force him to address his internal conflicts and mature to
become a better ruler.
Self expression can be viewed as weakness in a king. Under these circumstances Gilgamesh cannot
truly express himself due to his position of high power. Gilgamesh goes on a search of triumph to give
meaning to his life. He sets out with Enkidu on a conquest in search of Humbaba, the ogre who guards

Comparing Memory Test Performance
The author of the following excerpt concluded that the study was statistically significant. The
hypothetical research article compared memory test performance between two groups of participants:
those who consumed a caffeinated beverage before the test and those who consumed a non caffeinated
beverage:
An independent samples t test was conducted to examine the difference between experimental
conditions on test performance. The results indicated a significant difference between participants who
consumed the caffeinated beverage and participants who did not, with participants in the caffeinated
group (M = 7.64, SD = 2.41) performing worse than participants in the non caffeinated group (M =
9.81, SD = 3.16), t (97) = 2.14, p .05.
It tells that the t statistic with 97 degrees of freedom was 2.14, and the corresponding p value was less
than .05, specifically around 0.035. Therefore, it is appropriate to conclude the research study was
statistically significant.

Ecocriticism In The Secret Garden By Frances Hodgson Burnett
Introduction
All writers and their critics are stuck with language, and although we cast nature and culture as
opposites, in fact they constantly mingle, like water and soil in a flowing stream (Howarth 69).by
reading this quotation we indicate that nature and culture are essential in human life. In other words,
humanity and environment are one unit, each of them supplements the other. Ecocriticism could be
defined as a literary discipline which seeks to examine the intersections of culture, literature, and
ecology. It also seeks to infer the relationships among nature, the natural processes themselves, and
human conception of the natural world . This paper will regard Frances Hodgson Burnett s novel The

According to the principle of equality the state lines between human and animal are arbitrary and
irrelevant. Moreover, the principle of equality utters that everyone is entitled to equal moral

creatures. Hence, the assessment of the way that humans and non human cohabit in the intra textual

Debate Avoidance Methods
When planning your estate, you may want to consider a strategy that will avoid probate. The probate
process is time consuming, expensive, and at times, contentious. So, to save money and spare your
loved ones from the hassles of probate, plan to avoid probate. Probate avoidance methods are state
specific. Therefore, when planning your estate, understand that some property may have to go through
probate if not protected by a trust. In the book 8 Ways to Avoid Probate by Nolo (2016), Nolo
provides, in detail, the common probate avoidance methods and the states in which these methods are
available. Probate Avoidance Methods Provided by Nolo: The following is an overview of the probate
avoidance methods provided by Nolo: 1) Set up payable on death bank accounts This type of bank
account allows you to add beneficiaries to your account. When you die, the account ... Show more

The Impact on your Estate. 9) A complimentary method is to take advantage of special procedures for
small estates If you are able to move enough property from your estate at the time of your death, you
may achieve small estate status for your state. Some states have special procedures to transfer property
in estates worth very little. In general, if the property that has to go through probate is worth little,
then the state may waive probate in favor of an affidavit to transfer property. The above methods are
great for avoiding probate, but the above methods also reduce exposure to the estate income tax. The
more property you move to your beneficiaries the less property available to earn income for the estate
after death. So, avoiding probate not only saves on expenses and hassles, it will also reduce the tax
exposure for the

Implementing A New Business At Abc Medical Center
Creating a new business is challenging, expanding an already established facility can be even more
daunting. To ensure a successful venture requires the right set of marketing skills. Marketing is
execution of the conception, pricing, promotion, and distribution of goods, ideas, and services
(Berkowitz, 2006, p.4). In health care facilities this means developing a product or service to address
health issues; establishing a price individuals and insurance companies are willing to pay; knowing
what place is convenient for both the patient and the provider to give and receive treatment. Lastly,
promotion of the product or service to ensure patients know what is available to address the health
needs of the general public. These four ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be accomplished through strategic marketing skills. Strengths for this practice include
orthopedic surgeons who are dedicated to their field, have the ability to offer diagnostics, surgery,
follow up physical therapy in one location, and deliver exceptional patient care. Whereas weaknesses
include being a new orthopedic practice in a highly saturated area with a less generous marketing fund
than competitors. Potential customers include individuals with orthopedic needs, more specifically,
those requiring hip and knee replacements, however other orthopedic patient cases can be evaluated
for treatment. Satisfaction and repeat business can be achieved from the proper level of marketing.
The current market is strong and has the potential of building a new and continued customer base,
however, there are several other competing facilities with much larger marketing budgets that may be
able to reach more customers on a broader base. Product, according to Eric Berkowitz (2011), is
goods, services, or ideas offered by a health care facility. This is the first area to address in marketing.
Products available with in ABC Medical Center are both tangible and intangible. Because the
intangible products are harder to evaluate, marketing has to show the tangible benefits from their use
(Berkowitz, 2011, p. 214). The products that ABC Medical Center has to offer is the availability of
diagnostic screening, orthopedic surgery, and physical therapy for its patients. The

What Is An Example Of Cognitive Dissonance Theory
Cognitive Dissonance Theory, or CDT for short, is an objective communication theory that was
developed by Leon Festinger. Cognitive Dissonance is defined as The distressing mental state caused
by inconsistency between a person s two beliefs or a belief and an action. (Griffin, Ledbetter, et al).
An example of cognitive dissonance would be a health conscious smoker, this person knows that
smoking is bad for them, but they still smoke because they enjoy it. Their desire to be healthy
conflicts with their smoking, this conflict places them in a distressing mental state, a state of cognitive
dissonance. Festinger provides three hypotheses for CDT: 1.) Selective exposure prevents dissonance.
2.) Post decision dissonance creates need for reassurance. and 3.) Minimal justification for action
induces attitude change.

Testimonial Speech
Testimonial Speech I am delighted to be a part of this gala evening, and especially pleased to have the
opportunity to share some of my thoughts and observations about this evening s honoree and my good
friend, Cliff Kendall. Leader of the year certainly the term fits Cliff like a glove. But look around the
room. This place is filled with leaders. This is a power lunch, moved to the evening and dressed up in
black ties and cocktail dresses. So how, do you suppose, did the Board of Trade choose one from the
many deserving of honor for this singular recognition? Why Cliff above all others? I d like to think
that I can shed some light on that choice. There are dimensions to Cliff that set him clearly apart from

And just a couple weeks ago, the Washington Post listed CDSI as one of the 50 largest public

his role as chairman of the board, and he continues to regard the people of CDSI as part of his
extended family. More important than what Cliff has done at CDSI, though, is how he s done it. Few
stereotypes are more pervasive today or certainly in Cliff s case more unfair than that of the corporate
business leader as crass, heartless, adept at taking but incapable of giving. Cliff, in the life he has led
and in the model he has established as head of a hugely successful company, gives lie to that
stereotype. His approach to corporate leadership is founded on his innate humanity, his basic decency,
his involvement with others on a human level. Cliff is living testimony to the thesis that one can do
good while doing well. As one of Cliff s close associates puts it, For a guy who s done as much as he

Similarities And Differences Between Greek Architecture...
Greek architecture and roman architecture have been in touch with each other due to their Similarities
and differences between their civilizations as the temples and other structures. Both groups used to
define their own ideas by using their own thinking and structure creations. One way to compare and
contrast between greek architecture and roman architecture is to discuss the 3 main points such as
buildings types, material used and art and style The temples of the greek architecture is the most
remaining example for the buildings types. It was also built to be an art of honor to their gods, they
also have ornated these temples on the outside only. While the roman buildings still preserved
nowdays due to the creative materials, such as concrete. They have many public spaces like
bathhouses, amphitheaters which where for sporting events and aqueducts. Romans architects have

The Cardiovascular Surgeon Steps Of Cardiothoracic Surgeon
The heart beats about 1000,000 times every day sending 2,000 gallons of blood thought your body.
The hearts job is keeping blood flowing through 60,000 miles of blood vessels that feed organs and
tissues. The cardiac muscle is the tissues that make up your heart. The heart sends blood around your
body. When there is a problem with your heart and it can t pump blood it is critical for it to be fixed.
This is when the cardiovascular surgeon steps in.

John Lewis that attended University of Minnesota on September 2, 1952. The following year, Soviet
surgeon Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Vishnevskiy conducted the first cardiac surgery under local
anesthesia. This surgery is during which the heart is exposed and the blood made to bypass it.
The earliest operations on the pericardium (the sac that surrounds the heart) took place in the 19th
century and was performed by Francisco Romero (1801). The first surgery on the heart itself was
performed by Norwegian surgeon Axel Cappelen on the 4th of September 1895 at. He ligated a
bleeding coronary artery in a 24 year old man who had been stabbed in the left axillae and was in deep
shock upon arrival. Access was through a left thoracotomy. The patient awoke and seemed fine for 24
hours, but became ill with increasing temperature and he ultimately died. The first successful surgery
of the heart, performed without any complications, was by Ludwig Rehn of Frankfurt, Germany, who
repaired a stab wound to the right ventricle on September 7, 1896.
Cardiac surgery training in the United States is combined with and called cardiothoracic surgery. A
cardiothoracic surgeon in the U.S. is a physician D.O or M.D who first completes a general surgery
residency (typically 5 7 years), followed by a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship (typically 2 3 years).
The cardiothoracic surgery fellowship typically two or three years, but certification is based on the
number of surgeries performed as

An Laboratory Three Submaximal Tests Were Done The Highest...
Introduction During this laboratory three submaximal test were done. YMCA Submaximal Bike Test,
Astrand Submaximal Bike Test, and The RockPort 1 Mile Walk Test. Each of these test required
taking Blood Pressure,Heart Rate, and times, either at rest or while exercising. Everyone is a different
when it comes to Blood Pressure and Heart Rate. They both depend on how conditioned the person is.
The hypothesis is determining which test produced the highest Heart Rate and at what times. Since
resistance makes a person work harder, we assume that test will be the YMCA Submaximal Bike Test.
Methods

Heart Rate was taken before and after the walk. How long it took the patient to walk was also timed.
Results: This table shows the HR and Times of the subjects during each submaximal test. For the
Astrand test Subject 1 and Subject 2 were conditioned while Subject 3 was not conditioned. All
subjects are females between the ages of 21 23. Some Sub Maximal Test required multiple Heart
Rates, the last Heart Rate was used.
HR ( Heart Rate)
Time ( when the patient finished) RHR (Resting Heart Rate)
Discussion/Conclusion Each one of these tests were submaximal meaning the patient was not to max
out. This all depends on the patient s ability or level of fitness. The Submax for some people may
actually be a Max test for others. All of these test required the subjects or patients to do some type of
physical activity which would increase Heart Rate, especially since some these test had set time. The
hypothesis was that the YMCA Sub Max test was to have the highest Heart Rate, while also
determining if time had any effect. The results showed that the hypothesis was wrong, even with the
resistance that came with the YMCA testing, the Heart Rate was still the lowest and depended on the
subject. Subject 1 highest Heart Rate was 128 at a time of 16.46 minutes, with the Rockport Test.
Subject 2 highest Heart Rate was 120 at a time of 6:00 minutes, with the Astrand. Also with Subject 2,
the highest Heart Rate was 124 at a time of 6:00 minutes,

Challenges Of Quality Based Competition For High Tech...
INTRODUCTION
The automotive industry in India is one of the largest automotive markets in the world, previously one
of the fastest growing markets globally. It started out as a small venture in the 1940s but witnessed a
rapid growth with the entry of some big manufacturers like Mahindra Mahindra and Maruti in mid and
late 1900s. In 2000, this industry became an important sector of the Indian economy and a major
foreign exchange earner for the country.
The Shiv group was one of the largest industrial groups in India at this time established in the early
1900s. Having over 20 companies and a turnover of US $1 billion, they were market leaders in the
sectors like tea, auto parts, electronics, finance, pharmaceuticals etc. In 2000, Shiv industry was going
through a rough patch experiencing a steep fall in its earnings. The key reasons were its inability to
cope up with the changing needs and competitive scenario due to internationalization of this market.
The challenges of quality based competition in high tech product market and price based competition
in low tech product market became a big concern for Shiv s management.
PROBLEM STATEMENT AND POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
PROBLEM 1
Globalization of automotive industry
Although Shiv industries excelled in automobile industries, but the changing global trends in this
industry was a key concern for Shiv s management. Due to internationalization of this market, the
foreign auto manufacturers were rapidly replacing the local

Sales Training Methods
There is a wide variety of methods, but the program content often limits those that are appropriate. If,
for example, the content is a new policy on vacations and holidays, the training method almost
certainly will be the Lesson, supplemented, perhaps, with visual aids. In this instance, such methods as
role playing and the demonstration would be ruled out. It is important to select those training methods
that most effectively convey the desired content.
Of the ten training methods discussed below, five are group methods, four are individual methods, and
one can be either. Lecturing, role playing, case discussion, impromptu discussion, and gaming are
group methods. The personal conference, on the job training, programmed learning, and ... Show more

Demonstrating how a new product works and its uses is effective, much more so than lecturing on the
same material. In initial sales training, demonstrating techniques to use in closing sales is more
effective than is lecturing. Effective sales trainers use demonstrations to the maximum extent since the
beginning of time, showing has been more effective than telling! Demonstrations are generally used
with other methods they enliven an otherwise dull Lesson, and they reinforce the interchange in a
curbstone conference on, for instance, how to inform the next customer of an impending price
increase.
Role Playing
This method has trainees acting out parts in contrived problem situations. The role playing session
begins with the trainer describing the situation and the different personalities involved. The trainer
provides needed props, than designates trainees to play the salesperson, prospect, and other characters.
Each plays his or her assigned role, and afterward, they, together with other group members and the
trainer, appraise each player s effectiveness and suggest how the performance of each might have been
improved. In another version of role playing a training group is given information on, for example, a
buyer s objection to a particular product and then is asked to extemporize a solution. Called a sweet
session. This provides individual trainees a chance to apply what they have learned. Post mortem

Temple Grandin Reflection Paper
Reflection: Temple Grandin Before watching the movie, I have never heard of it before. I never knew

with the autism of a woman and tells the inspiration true story of her. Temple Grandin, a young
autistic woman, is extraordinarily gifted. She has a remarkable connection to animals and a brilliant
mind. This biopic follows Temple from her late teens as she struggles with both her own limitations

She became an animal scientist and a professor at the university. The protagonist, Temple Grandin,
was able to explain and describe very skillfully how a person with this condition feels, hears, sees,
perceives and thinks. She helps people peek inside the mind of a person with Asperger s syndrome
which facilitates good communication and better understanding. She demonstrates the importance of
pictures in the mind of autisitc people and how powerful their visual skills can be. Another reason why
I think this movie is such a great, inspirational movie is because of how a woman with autism can
accomplish something so inspiring that shows people with autism shouldn t be viewed as someone
who can t do much or someone who doesn t have the skills and knowledge to do what normal people
can. Temple Grandin has probably made a big difference in what people think of ones who have
autism and I think that is great. Just because a person has autism doesn t necessarily mean that people
don t have autism should view them as someone lower than themselves. People with autism are only
stronger willed and even though they may have difficulty with life, Temple Grandin shows that it
doesn t matter if you have autism or not because you can achieve your goals, you just need that
determination in your life. From this movie, I have learned that no matter how small other people may
think of you, you have the

Traditional And Blended Learning
Blended learning is a combination of multiple approaches for teaching. It is where a mix of different
learning methods that together in learning and teaching (Garrison Vaughan, 2008). The methods are
the traditional learning method and online learning. Traditional learning is face to face teaching. This
type of method is where the students will listen to the instructor through visual, whiteboard, case
studies and etc. It is an immediate interaction as the students have a chance to ask question or doubts
to the teacher right there and then. By doing this, they get to participate more actively in class and they
also will have an opportunity for them to learn something new from their fellow classmates. Online

Joseph Heller s Catch 22 Essay
Catch 22 Comparison Paper
Catch 22 by Joseph Heller is a complex and intricate novel. Heller uses many themes, does not have
the story line in chronological order and often uses irony in his descriptions. Many of the themes can
be compared to other literature. One of the themes that can be compared is fear in war. The idea is that
the evils and cruelty of war can make a grown man go back into a fetal state. This can be seen in The
Ball Turret Gunner by Randall Jarrell and can be compared to the metaphor used in chapter five of
Catch 22. In this chapter Yossarian talks about the tight crawl space which led to the plexiglass
bombardier s compartment.
This can be looked at as the passageway to fear. Every time Yossarian climbs down ... Show more

When he went to tell ex PFC Wintergreen his theory though, he was pushed away. It was if he didn t
care to think about the situation. This shows the lack of respect for another human life. This can also
be seen in SlaughterHouse V. One of the things Billy thinks about is the value of human life. The
question he asks is how can God not value the life of people and let them be slaughtered. What he was
referring too was the concentration camps that he was in and saw people die at and the bombing of
Dresden where many people lost their lives. Billy Pilgrim felt that if God loved his people that he
wouldn t allow this to happen. So therefore there would be no God because the God that people have
learned about, loves everyone and would certainly not allow harm to anyone. This definitely takes aim
at religion and basically sees how much faith a person might have in God despite the evil he sees
around him. Another take on it is that why does God want people to be miserable. This is seen by Doc
Daneeka constantly asking Why Me . She talks about Hungry Joe and how Yossarian is constantly
worries about Hungry Joe. She starts out by sarcastically saying that she has no stress. She says that
she knows there is a war and there are people suffering. She can t figure out why she has to be one of
them. Another theme and imagery used in Catch 22 is the prison

Racial profiling is a practice that some law enforcement use when it comes to someone being suspicious because of their race, ethnicity and religion. In 2004, 32 million people reported that they were unfairly singled out by law enforcement because of their race, according to a new Amnesty International report (Goyette). But that doesn t stop them from doing it. There has been steps that have been taken by some police departments to try to eliminate racial profiling. Also in San Diego, they enacted a way to limit racial profiling by putting in cameras so they can video record cops communicating with the people who got pulled over. • 4. My Summer Vacation My Summer in Chicago I couldn t help but to feel anxious and excited. It was my first time being in such a vast city and I couldn t wait to explore it. The time was near the end of July, this is when my dad usually enjoys taking our summer vacations, primarily outside of our state to somewhere else new and exciting. That summer my dad decided to take a week long road trip and visit, Wisconsin Dells, Chicago, St. Louis, and Madison. My dad said he wanted to show my sisters and I all the adventures he did in Chicago when he was my age. I had felt joyful about the trip, I could not wait to see all the buildings and walk down the Navy Pier. To tell the truth, I was more excited to visit Chicago a little more since it was such an extensive city and I had wanted to visit there ever since I was younger. A few days before the trip, my dad, my sister Nina, and I, had done some research and added up the cost of the trip and looked for hotels and restaurants to visit during the time we were there and on our road trip. After about an hour of research on Chicago, we had our plan of what to do for our time in Chicago. That night, It was difficult to fall asleep, although I wasn t surprised I usually didn t fall asleep right away before a vacation, I m usually too excited. Morning soon came and my dad, my younger sister Niomi, my sister Nina, and I were all ready to leave and finally begin the drive to Chicago. Not to mention, it would be about six hours to arrive there. Finally, after ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Fear Of The Invisible Man The people of Iping scattered as the invisible man s infinite rain of terror engulfed them in anxiety. A storm began and trembled as he penetrated into the village. Doors clattered shut, as the people quivered in their homes. The obscure man s voice sounded like nails while he spoke, This village is under me, the terror! No one in the small village of Iping was safe... no one. The Invisible Man, by Herbert George Wells, combines innovated science with the morals of a human being. The invisible man, who is named Griffith, was so fascinated by science that he turned himself invisible. At first, Griffith enjoys the convenience of his new found power, but then discovers the consequences that come with invisibility. On a quest to restore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The author uses different formats of symbols to portray the danger that the power of invisibility and the man possess. First, the invisible cat on pages 108 and 109, is a minor character in the novel, but portrays a much larger picture. While Griffith was testing his invisibility potion, he decided to test it on his neighbor s cat. The cat gradually became invisible, except with its emerald green eyes. The invisible man threw it out onto the street and it became a ruckus for all of the community. The invisible cat represents the first time that invisibility is revealed. At first, the cat did not know what to expect from the invisibility, like Griffith. Then the community didn t know how to react, like the village of Iping. The invisible cat was a stepping stone in the climax of Griffith turning invisible and his impact on Iping. Next, when Griffith was forced out by his landlord to leave his apartment, he set his apartment on fire. At first the fire started out compact, like Griffith when he became invisible. Over time, the fire gained strength until it roared like a lion and destroyed other apartments until it engulfed the entire building. This portrayed Griffith and his insidious actions toward the community. At first the invisible only affected himself. Then his actions began to turn devious and grow, much like the fire. Finally, the last symbol the author uses to depict a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. How Did The Economy Affect The Mexican Economy Decades later, another series of events led to a new wave of feminists. In the 1970 s, Mexico became one of the world s largest oil suppliers to the world market. International bankers made loans to Mexico, who promptly accepted them, but sooner than later the interest rates and debt rose to an uncontrollable point. Intending to boost the country s economy, the Lopez Portillo administration spent vast amounts of public spending on electricity generation, construction, the mining industry, and manufacturing. However, the country s debt rose due to the US and other countries taking advantage of their large amounts of oil. The world oil market collapsed, and with it, the Mexican economy. In addition, an earthquake in 1985 killed almost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since husbands were away, the mothers became the heads of the family. Despite earning less than their male counterparts, women tended to invest their money in the needs of the household, rather than spending money for their own use. Without the male presence in the home, the families tended to be smaller, and the family income was distributed to fewer members. Therefore their family per capita was greater than when the men were in charge. The economic crisis of the 1980 s caused great harm to the Mexican economy, but had lasting beneficiary effects on gender equality. Because many men often migrated to other parts of the country or bordering countries to find better work, the women were forced to join the workforce. Families assimilated to the lack of presence of women at home, generating creative strategies to continue on. 70% of households bought less food, clothing, shoes, etc. and spent less on transportation and food than prior to the economic crisis. There was a dramatic increase of women aged twenty to twenty four in the workforce, rising by ten percent since prior to the crisis. However, some social customs still remained. While the men still in charge of families were able to eat the more expensive foods such as meat and eggs, female heads of the family ate less hearty, unhealthy food, which mainly consisted of beans, tortillas, fruits and ... Essay Lower Corporate Tax A Case for lower Corporate Tax Submitted by Student 201204997 on 11th of march 2013 Executive Summary Policy Makers in the United Kingdom may as well take notice and acknowledge that lower corporate tax can give essential profits to business competiveness without fundamentally hurting the medium term budget viewpoint. Several countries lately have reduced or plan to reduce their corporate tax rates in order to stimulate investment, create jobs and promote faster economic growth. This includes the Ireland where the rate of Corporation Tax has been kept at 12%.Recently published report of Northern Ireland (NI) Economic Strategy, identified lowering of corporate tax as the single measure that might have the most ... Studies by Economist Lee and Gordon(2004) found viewed the connection between corporate tax rates and economic growth for 70 nations over a 27 year period they discovered that statutory corporate charge rates are fundamentally adversely related with cross sectional distinctions in normal economic development rates and that reducing the corporate duty rate by 10 percent can deliver a additional growth rate of 1.1% Studies such as these provide strong evidence that lower corporate taxes do lead to long term economic growth and by having high rates we retard the nation growth potential. Competiveness The Canadian legislature has set an unequivocal objective of having a lowest corporate tax in the Group of Seven (G7) nations on January 1st, Canada brought down its corporate tax rate from 18 percent to 16.5 percent. the rate will eventually decrease to 15 percent. The Japanese administration also affirmed corporate tax deduction by 5 percent with a specific end goal to increase local investment and create jobs through improving Japanese firms worldwide competiveness and improving business environment. • 8. The Scale of Values in Alexander Pope s Poem The Rape of... The Scale of Values in Alexander Pope s Poem The Rape of the Lock I found Alexander Pope s The Rape of the Lock a delightful, amusing poem. Throughout the poem, trivialities are compared with events and objects or consequence and the insignificant is treated with utmost importance. Its very title gives the reader an immediate clue; rape and all its connotations bring to mind a heinous crime of physical and spiritual violation. Perhaps this description could apply to the theft of a lock of hair, but only in a world where normal morals are perverted. This skewed scale of values is shown repeatedly throughout the poem, and supporting this alternate world are the sylphs. As the souls of former coquettes, the sylphs exist solely to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Here, the word militia brings to mind an imposing, well regulated army, rather than a gossamer grouping of sprites bent on protecting beauty and virginity. It is sylph Ariel that foresees the dread event of the poem s title. Ariel says to Belinda: Warned by the Sylph, O pious maid, beware! / This to disclose is all thy guardian can: / Beware of all, but most beware of man! (1.109, 112 14). Man, of course, is the coquette s eternal adversary. A lady must be very careful; men may be allured and teased, but as prey they can be unpredictable. Following this warning Belinda wakes and begins the transcendental toilet, one of my favorite scenes in the poem. Pope elevates Belinda s morning preparations to the level of High Mass; a mystical, spiritual experience in which miraculous transformation takes place. In this ritual, however, cosmetic powers rather than cosmic powers are relied upon. (1.124). With the aid of the sylphs, Belinda begins her grooming: And now, unveiled, the toilet stands displayed, Each silver vase in mystic order laid. First, robed in white, the nymph intent adores, With head uncovered, the cosmetic powers. A heavenly image in the glass appears; To that she bends, to that her eyes she rears. The inferior priestess, at her altar s side, Trembling begins the sacred rites of Pride. (1.121 28) Here we see an example of the utmost importance of the superficial in the absurd ... The NTSB also noted that there was a lack of communication between the SFO airport rescue crew and local city dispatchers, hampering rescue efforts by local agencies. CRM Factors There were several factors that relate to Crew Resource Management (CRM). Notably the inability of the crew to maintain their situational awareness during the approach. The crew became so task saturated in the approach glide path that they ignored the throttle settings until it was too late to recover. Failure to monitor their airspeed, while focusing on the approach path contributed as well. Fatigue of the crew, and mismanagement of their afforded rest periods also contributed to the incident. • 13. Hiv And The Human Immunodeficiency Virus HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus) is a lentivirus that results in AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). HIV attacks and destroys CD4 helper lymphocyte cells a specific type of immune system cell. As a result, the body has a harder time fighting off other infections, making minor illnesses more severe. The virus will go further to use those CD4 cells to create more of the virus. Once so many CD4 cells have been destroyed, HIV will become AIDS. Many of the infected people are not even aware they have contracted the virus. It is estimated that 80% of the infected experience flu like symptoms shortly after contracting HIV, however, once those symptoms subside, they may not experience more symptoms for several years. Depending on the stage of the virus, different symptoms will occur. The first stage, the acute infection, is the one in which flu like symptoms begin to occur. They will occur anywhere between two to six weeks after infection and may last several weeks, or even months. This is caused by the increase of HIV levels in the blood. CD4 cells begin to quickly decline during this stage, causing the immune system to kick in, making the CD4 count rise once again, but not back to its original count. During the ... Another reason why I think this movie is such a great, inspirational movie is because of how a woman with autism can accomplish something so inspiring that shows people with autism shouldn t be viewed as someone who can t do much or someone who doesn t have the skills and knowledge to do what normal people can. Temple Grandin has probably made a big difference in what people think of ones who have autism and I think that is great. Just because a person has autism doesn t necessarily mean that people don t have autism should view them as someone lower than themselves. People with autism are only stronger willed and even though they may have difficulty with life, Temple Grandin shows that it doesn t matter if you have autism or not because you can achieve your goals, you just need that determination in your life. From this movie, I have learned that no matter how small other people may think of you, you have the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Joseph Heller s Catch 22 Essay Catch 22 Comparison Paper Catch 22 by Joseph Heller is a complex and intricate novel. Heller uses many themes, does not have the story line in chronological order and often uses irony in his descriptions. Many of the themes can be compared to other literature. One of the themes that can be compared is fear in war. The idea is that the evils and cruelty of war can make a grown man go back into a fetal state. This can be seen in The Ball Turret Gunner by Randall Jarrell and can be compared to the metaphor used in chapter five of Catch 22. In this chapter Yossarian talks about the tight crawl space which led to the plexiglass bombardier s compartment. This can be looked at as the passageway to fear. Every time Yossarian climbs down ... This shows the lack of respect for another human life. This can also be seen in SlaughterHouse V. One of the things Billy thinks about is the value of human life. The question he asks is how can God not value the life of people and let them be slaughtered. What he was referring too was the concentration camps that he was in and saw people die at and the bombing of Dresden where many people lost their lives. Billy Pilgrim felt that if God loved his people that he wouldn t allow this to happen. So therefore there would be no God because the God that people have learned about, loves everyone and would certainly not allow harm to anyone. This definitely takes aim at religion and basically sees how much faith a person might have in God despite the evil he sees around him. Another take on it is that why does God want people to be miserable. This is seen by Doc Daneeka constantly asking Why Me . She talks about Hungry Joe and how Yossarian is constantly worries about Hungry Joe. She starts out by sarcastically saying that she has no stress. She says that she knows there is a war and there are people suffering. She can t figure out why she has to be one of them. Another theme and imagery used in Catch 22 is the prison ...
