William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar
EZ Julius Caesar was a crucial political figure that saw the fall of the Roman Republic and the rise of
the Roman empire. Through political strategy and military feats, Caesar seized significant power and
influence over Roman politics and eventually declared himself a dictator in perpetuity . He centralized
the government, passed social and bureaucratic reform, and even created the Julian calendar. However,
he was soon assassinated by senators led by Marcus Brutus who stabbed him to death, after which the
empire underwent several civil wars. His death is considered by historians as a watershed in Roman
history, and one of the most influential assassinations in history. In Shakespeare s play Julius Caesar,
Caesar s death was preceded by numerous omens: a severe thunderstorm, a bird of night screaming in
a marketplace, and even a lion walking through the streets. EZ Shakespeare alludes to Julius Caesar,
in order to highlight the importance of King Hamlet s death and also foreshadow the discovery of
betrayal. One of the reasons that Caesar was alluded to was to capture one of the themes of Hamlet:
that everyone dies eventually. Like how King Hamlet was going to die eventually, Julius Caesar dies
too. It is this realization that is a major part in Hamlet s grief driven quest for self knowledge. Another
reason that Caesar was alluded to is to capture a similarity between Caesar s son and Hamlet. Both of
their fathers were important leaders that were murdered prematurely,

Summary Of Dennis Baron s Methods To Pencils
As technology has progressed so has our composing practices. Dennis Baron, a linguist who studies
literacy and communication technologies, wrote From Pencils to Pixels: The Stages of Literacy
Technologies, a paper about how writing has progressed as a result of the progression of writing
technology, for example the pencil and computer. Grabill et. Al, a collaboration of professors and
assistant professors, wrote From Pencils to Pixels: The Stages of Literacy Technologies, a paper about
the writing technologies that students use most, and there importance to the student. The Grabill et. Al
paper demonstrates how students have moved toward computers and away from paper for writing.
Technology has greatly affected composing practices as it has progressed and developed. Baron states
The computer, the latest development in writing technology, promises, or threatens, to change literacy
practices for better or worse, depending on your point of view. (Baron, 691) Baron believes that the
computer is the biggest technological advancement, and that it has changed writing more than any
other technological advancement has previously. Grabill et. Al agrees that the computer has had a

Computers at first were new technologies that were new strange to people, but as they grew used to

Hormonal Differences Between Antidepressants And Pregnancy
Antidepressants and Pregnancy
Almost all women experience some type of depression during pregnancy. Depression is more than just
feeling blue or down in the dumps for a few days. It s a serious illness that involves the brain.
Depression makes you feel sad and lonely for a number of days, and could become a serious
problem. These feelings can be mild to severe. Depression is the most common problem during
pregnancy. Due to the potential birth defects, developmental issues, and negative effects on the health
of both mother and child. Hormonal changes cause the depression women experience during
pregnancy. The use of antidepressants by pregnant women should be highly restricted in the United
States. It can really hurt the child more than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The antidepressants actually affect the mother as well as the child. Given that the benefits of
antidepressants overall, and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors including paroxetine specifically,
during pregnancy is questionable at best, any increase in risk small or large is too high, said Dr.
BĂŠrard. (Daigle par. 3) Researches have actually found that everything the mother takes passes
through the placenta, giving more risks to the medicine affecting the child in the womb. The placenta
is a flattened circular organ in the uterus of pregnant women that nourishes and maintaining the fetus
through the umbilical cord. That s why a mother will need to watch their own diet and what they take,
it could really affect their child s future, and their own. All of the medications you take during
pregnancy can affect you and your child. You have to be careful of what you put in your mouth while
you re carrying a child. Some research associates use of citalopram, fluoxetine and sertraline with a
rare but serious newborn lung problem (persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn) when
taken during the last half of pregnancy. (Mayo Staff Clinic par. 1) Other possible risks of more rare
birth defects are being studied further. A decision to use antidepressants during pregnancy is based on
the balance between risks and benefits. Overall, the risk of birth

Listeria Monocytogene Essay
Prior to the cantaloupe outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes, there were no previous incidents with
Jensen Farms foods. On September 8th, the CDPHE; and on September 9th, 2011, the FDA collected
and tested samples from grocery stores where the ill people reported buying cantaloupe, after the first
incident on September 2nd (CDC 2012b). The FDA found that 9 of 10 cantaloupes tested positive for
L. monocytogenes (FDA 2012). Then on the 10th of September, the CDPHE and the FDA visited
Jensen Farms to test the production facility (CDC 2012b). 39 samples were taken from various points
across the production line including conveyer belts and packing sheds, and 13 tested positive (FDA

From September 24th to October 6th, grocery stores from across the United States, including New
York and Kansas remove mixed cut fruit containers from shelves (CDC 2012b). When the outbreak
was deemed over, the CDC (2012b) advises consumers to eat melon right away or refrigerate it; once
it is cut, melon should stay in the refrigerator no longer than 7 days; and to discard melon that has
been left at room temperature for longer than 4 hours. The FDA (2012) then reminds people that since
L. monocytogenes can grow at 4°C, keeping foods in the refrigerator for extended periods of time can
allow for it to grow. It is advised that the consumer wash their hands before and after handling food
for at least 20 seconds with warm water and soap, to clean up spills in the refrigerator immediately,
and to wash the inside of the refrigerator, cutting boards, and countertops regularly with hot water and
one tablespoon of chlorine bleach, and then wiped down with a dry and clean towel or cloth (FDA
2012). A lesson to be taken away from this outbreak is that an outbreak can happen on any farm, and

Theme Of Futility In The Thousand Faces Of Night
Alone in the house with Mayamma, an old house keeper, and Baba s orphaned books after his
departure for New York, Devi was engulfed by an awesome loneliness and a wave of uselessness. Her
sense of futility overwhelmed her as both the men she had trusted and loved, her father and father in
law escaped from the tortured grip of the pain, loneliness and guilt (84), by dying and her gentle
mother in law, Parvathiamma by fleeing the house in search of God long before her arrival. Drawn to
Kritya in Baba s books more than the kritis he quoted earlier, Devi was filled with furry as she was
expected to swallow her hard earned education and follow her husband s self contained footprints (84)

Mayamma, the old caretaker cum governess cum cook at Mahesh s house, lived all her life satisfying
others. Married at twelve to a useless gambler who came to her every night, his large hairy thighs
rough and heaving on her (80), she knew no happiness in marriage. When two years of marriage
brought forth no child, she incurred the wrath of her mother in law, did penance to change the course
of her life, invoked the names of all the gods and goddesses in the Hindu pantheon, till she finally
gave birth to a male child. Eight years later her husband worn into middle age, with dissipated excess,
disappeared taking with him all the money in the house. Though Mayamma never saw him again, she
found his replica in their son. A wastrel from birth, he threatened and cursed and even beat his mother
till he finally caught fever and died: The day he died, Mayamma wept as she had not done for years.
She wept for her youth, her husband, the culmination of a life s handiwork: now all these had been
snatched form her (82). On that day leaving behind her home forever, Mayamma came to
Parvatiamma s Mahesh s mother house and stayed on to tend to the kitchen and

Boo Radley Symbolism
To Kill a Mockingbird In the Novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, the author Harper Lee uses symbolism to
express the idea of how fear can make someone make the wrong decision. Atticus warned the kids that
they could shoot all the blue jays they wanted to but it was a sin to kill a mockingbird. Miss Maudie
helps explains to the kids the mockingbirds don t do anything but make beautiful music for people to
enjoy. The mockingbird symbolizes Boo Radley because he is an innocent person who has been
destroyed through contact with evil. In conclusion, there are two main characters that the mockingbird
symbolizes and they are Tom Robinson and Boo Radley. Atticus warned the kids that they could shoot
all the blue jays they wanted but it was a sin to kill a mockingbird. Mockingbirds don t do one thing
but make music for us to enjoy. They don t eat up people s gardens, don t nest in corncribs, they don t
do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. Thats why its a sin to kill to a mockingbird. For Example,
Tom Robinson did not cause anyone harm, he was just going out of his way to help Mayella with her
chores. His intention were good, he was misjudged and misunderstood. Finally, Tom Robinson was an

Hatred In The Time Machine By H. G Wells
In his story The Time Machine, by H.G Wells begins with a group of Well s friends listening to the
Time Traveler talking about his theory that time is the fourth dimension. The Time Traveler proved his
theory by making a mini time machine and making it disappear. His group of friends end up coming

story.
Later on the Time Traveler finally had finally finished his last touches on the time machine, and went

names of the Morlocks and Elio we notice the difference. The word Eloi itself sounds like the word
elite, and Morlock is a perfect word to describe a cruel, ruthless ape like creature. Everything about
these two beings points toward the Time Traveler s theory that he is at the top of civilization, where
the two major classes of society have become so set in their positions. As we later find out, there are
two distinct classes, set in their ways to the point where there is no social exchange, but it is not the
Eloi who rule the Morlocks. However, Morlocks simply use the Eloi as cattle, providing them with
clothes and shelter as a farmer would provide for his herd. At night, the Morlocks come from below
the ground to wander the surface. They hunt Eloi, which provide meat for the Morlocks . The

The Free Will in Meditations on First Philosophy by Descartes
I
In Meditations on First Philosophy, Descartes takes the reader through a methodological exercise in
philosophical enquiry. After stripping the intellect of all doubtful and false beliefs, he re examines the
nature and structure of being in an attempt to secure a universally valid epistemology free from
skepticism. Hoping for the successful reconciliation of science and theology, Descartes works to
reconstruct a new foundation of absolute and certain truth to act as a catalyst for future scientific
research by showing that a mathematical [rational objective] physics of the world is attainable by

The will, at its most basic, consists in saying yes or no to ideas or propositions. Descartes adopts the
position that the free will is independent of the deterministic and fundamental laws that govern matter.
Human behavior is neither dictated by mechanical compulsion, nor persuaded or coerced by God, nor
influenced by any external force to act in a predetermined manner. Descartes, in a bold stroke,
proclaims the divine grace of God along with natural knowledge actually increases and strengthens
human freedom, as opposed to restricting its effectiveness.
As a thinking entity, Descartes is a consciousness mind aware of the potential to engage in various
modes of existence. To the numerous operations of thought he includes doubting, understanding,
affirming, denying, willing, refusing, imagining, and sensing. As varied and manifold as these
operations appear, they are but expressions of two principal types of conscious activity, to which
Descartes eventually traces the nature of error. Thinking and reasoning, together with all belief in
general, depend upon the operation of the twin faculties knowing and choosing, or the free will.
Garrett Thompson writes:
Descartes divides all thoughts into two kinds: ideas

The Importance Of Technology Over Time
Over time the viewpoints regarding technology and the importance of it changes depending on the
different situations of the time. The three texts Feed by M.T Anderson, The Time Machine by H.G
Wells, and As We May Think by Vannevar Bush are influenced by the context of their respective times
when they discuss technology. In the novel Feed, the use of a machine that gives access to the internet
and retrieves information for the user which is implanted in a person, a feed, being used to illustrate a
problem with technology causing complacency. The Time Machine follows a similar negative view of
technology being a cause for the complacency of society because of the reliance on said technology.
As We May Think is a more forward thinking article pushing for the continual advancement of
technology that supports society through an idea referencing to the computer and the internet we have
today. As for how the political climate influenced the texts, during the time As We May Think was
written a significant amount of tension between the world was present, toward the tail of World War I.
On the contrary both Feed and The Time Machine were written during a calmer time period, less
significant political conflicts present, coming up with a conclusion that technology will do society a
disfavor. Bush mentions multiple innovations, such as voice recording and film technologies, that
have been happening during his time bringing up that these innovations are good and that better can be

Shutter Island, by Dennis Lehane and The Yellow...
Gothic tales are known for being mysterious and gloomy. Certain elements are integrated throughout
the narrative to create the desired effect, and simultaneously suggest other ideas. Shutter Island by
Dennis Lehane and The Yellow Wall Paper by Charlotte Perkins Stetson are significantly similar, by
the way both settings highlight the idea of madness. The relationship between setting and madness is
induced by the display of physical isolation, disturbing elements, and hallucinatory incidents. To
begin, with intent of initiating mystery in gothic stories, the locale is often portrayed as being
physically isolated, triggering insanity in the characters. This idea can be demonstrated by the

Also, as the patients in Shutter Island are cut off from society and merely exposed to criminally insane
people, it is hard for them to come back to a state of sanity. Briefly, physical isolation of the locale in
gothic literature finds its way into establishing madness, nevertheless, additional disturbing elements
impact on insanity as well. Just in the same way as isolation affects the mental state of characters,
disturbing elements in their surroundings can lead to this outcome in the narrative. In Stetson s short
story, the description of the room indicates that the windows are barred [...] and there are rings and
things in the wall (250). Additionally, the wallpaper is stripped off in great patches all around the head

down (251). These details symbolize how troubling the environment is for Charlotte as she expresses
antipathy, especially about the wallpaper by pointing out that [she] never saw a worse paper in [her]
life (251). In contrast, Lehane depicts guards using a powerful hose to calm the agitated patients: the
guards [got] the hose working and fired a blast, blew the guy off the bars, pushed him across the floor
(231). The hose is used as a tool to tranquilize critical situations in Shutter Island, however, as some

into their political affairs. Mantri refused the help of Governor Clarke appointing Raja Abdullah as the
Sultan as the chiefs unanimously believes he is incompetent to be Sultan of Perak. Mantri was firm
that they are capable of handling their own affairs because he knew the British s intention and giving
in to the British will further enhance the power of colonizer on their land. Apart from that, Raja
Abdullah was forced to sign the proclamation to transfer Perak to the British Resident, Birch.
According to Birch, he was hindered from carrying out his duty, thus, breaching the Pangkor
Treaty.Sultan Abdullah did not agree to cooperate with British government because his sovereignty
will be taken away. Unfortunately, Governor Jervois threatened Sultan Abdullah to replace his place
with Raja Yusuf if he refuses to sign the proclamation. In order to redeem themselves from the

Final Paper:
How will 3D printing affect the process and quality of constructing housing in the 21st Century?
The role of Technology in the 21st century cannot be over looked. It has completely transformed the
way we live and the way we interact with each other. It has enabled the formation of numerous
possibilities that were not previously imaginable. 3D printing has evolved so much in the past 5 years
where we can now virtually make any shape using this technology. Although in the past it was
reserved for smaller items such as machinery parts, it is now being used to create much bigger items
such as cars and even houses. It has also become much cheaper ... Show more content on

This is something that evolution in technology can change, like anything in our society, as time
progresses these technologies become more and more open to the public.
(Picture A)
The History
Throughout history we can see that housing has followed certain trends. These trends are most heavily
influenced by the technology available to the public at that time. As can be seen throughout history,
living conditions in general have improved, as there are more access to resources and building
technologies. Although the world we live in has changed greatly, the basic type of shelter needed for
everyday life and the resources needed to construct them has changed very little. This is why we can
see a lot of parallels between the ways people live throughout history. However, the biggest change is
in the way we construct buildings and especially housing. History has taught us that as time goes by,
technology increases, making it easier for us to build structures. For example the Egyptians relied
solely on Adobe (sun dried mud bricks) and slave labor for construction. Then came the development
of hydraulic lime mortar, the Treadwell cranes (which is a wooden, human powered hoisting and
lowering device) as well as the start of domes and arches, as structural components in architecture.
Followed by the Middle Ages, which saw a huge emphasis on the construction of massive public
buildings such as Cathedrals, Churches, Fortifications

Greek Writing Impact
Chapter 1 Introduction According to Professor Joshua J. Mark from Marist College, New York,
Writing is the physical manifestation of a spoken language. (Mark et al, 2011) In fact, from this quote,
this attains this topic needed for discussion in this research paper, in order to how writing was used for
monumental purposes in the classical era. In this research assignment, one will begin to see the great
impacts that writing has compassed in Ancient Greece and Rome, by presenting three commentaries
on vital fields that has some of the biggest impact on writing and language; systematically through
religion, politics and communal. Although, religion has probably been the greater impactor on writing
, which will be discussed later on, but all three fields will be investigated as all three sources show
various styles of writing relating to the material investigated. Of the three sources examined in this
paper, two of which are in Ancient Greek and one in Latin. Each source will help to provide evidence
to show how writing was used for monumental purposes. First source examined, is presented from
The Epidaurian Miracle Tablets in Ancient Greek, which will investigate how religion culture had a
great role to play on writing in the fourth century BCE. This source ... Show more content on

religion was used as superiority when it came to writing in the classical periods, making religion a

Democratic Party; therefore, he shares my preferred party preference. Senator Royce West has been in
office since January of 1993, so he has been in office for a total of 24 years. 2. One of the recent
pieces of legislation authored by Royce West is the Texas State Senate Bill 121 (TX SB121) which

Although education is a priority when it comes to policy priorities for West, health related policies are
not too far behind. For example, West was coauthor to SB 481, which helps patients who have to pay
high medical bills because their insurance does not cover certain procedures and allows them to seek
help from the Texas Department of Insurance so that through mediation the bill can be balanced (New
Law Helps Patients). This shows that there is agreement between the policy goals of TMA and West
since their vision includes improving the health of all Texans which the bill, which is now law, helps
with since Texans have the opportunity to be assisted so that medical bills can be reasonably paid for
(Vision, Mission, and Goals). An additional bill that shows the agreement between the policy goals of
TMA and West is the Texas Senate Bill 344, which has to do with the emergency medical personnel
that is allowed to transport patients to emergency centers and strives to keep patients safe when
experiencing emergencies by declaring who is able to transport them to emergency centers (Texas

College Can Be A Huge Jump From High School
College can be a huge jump from high school for most people in many areas. One of the most
impacted areas includes a student s overall success in college. Many college students may say that
high school was a breeze and claim to have done well by putting forth minimal effort. High schoolers
are use to having a ton of free time, getting good grades without studying outside of the classroom,
and barely having any homework at all. Once they make the transition to college, all of that changes.
Quickly freshmen experience homework piling up and studying consumes more and more free time
and all of this can lead to many anxiety issues and health problems if it gets too overwhelming. If a

A student s college success can be defined as their level of success and fulfillment in academics and
enjoyment of their life in college. There are many contributions that can help a student s college
success as well as many contributions that can diminish it. This paper will be focusing on two main
components that will help blossom a student s success in college. Most people go to college to learn
and gain experience to help guide them in the right direction toward their career which is why having
a successful college life is important no matter how long one attends. While there are many elements
that can help with this, the two big ones that contribute are a student s involvement in activities
outside of class and a proper, healthy diet. The first topic and most important, is a student s
involvement with activities around the campus. This can be anything from sports, to presenting
situations, or just sitting down and talking to a bunch of people. In high school these are known as
extracurricular activities, though the same word may apply in college. Extracurricular activities
provide students with a number of benefits. It can teach them the value of working together with
others to accomplish a task, or teamwork. There are little to no downsides to joining clubs and if there
are, the benefits outweigh the negatives. According to the U.S. News Education getting involved in
college can allow students to become more connected with their school and help

How Did The Holocaust Happen
It is clear that the holocaust did happen but why would some people believe that it did not? Many
sources state that people don t deny the holocaust. But don t think that there could be that high of
numbers with people being murdered and killed and that they weren t death camps, the people died of
some sort of disease and starvation. The main thing is that they believe that Hitler did not command
the holocaust and that it was not the Nazis that committed it. Then who did? At the trials of
Nuremberg in 1945 and 1946 twenty two major, high ranked Nazis were charged on the holocaust and
many others were found guilty before and after those trials.
An article states that there is no autopsy reports and that there was nothing in German documents that
state facts on the holocaust or if it happened. Although there were many thousands of corpses
available in German concentration camps by the end of the war and although at least 1,000 autopsies
were performed, none showed any evidence of death by poison gas or poison. There is many videos
from the survivors of the holocaust that even tell there stories about it. Those same people believe that
there is no physical documents or proof was found, and even after being told, being proven

Do Food Stamps Cause Obesity
Today s society is infatuated with the thought of being fit and skinny. Although eating healthy and
balanced sounds ideal for most Americans, this can be more difficult than it seems. Because of the
number of families living in poverty, eating a nutritious and balanced diet is a tremendous challenge.
Healthy foods generally cost more than cheaper, processed foods. Families attempting to make the
most of their scarce amount of money will try to stretch their dollar and purchase large quantities of
food, disregarding the nutritional value. Many studies show the correlation between obesity and other
health issues, with a family s financial status. Although there are now several ways for today s society
to be healthful, including new diet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Otherwise known as Food Stamps, this program was aimed towards those battling food insecurity or
hunger, and to assist them in purchasing food. This program has in fact helped to alleviate these
problems, but has resulted in another extreme: obesity. The article Do Food Stamps Cause Obesity?
Evidence From Immigrant Experience explains that monthly vouchers of food stamps have been
found to affect quantity and frequency of food consumption, with periods of high consumption
immediately following voucher receipt (Kaushal, 4). I find this to be unsurprising, as when food is
plentiful and readily available, splurging seems likely. Citizens that are qualified for this program are
essentially provided a sum of money in correlation to the number of family members in their home.
The money provided is enough to counteract hunger, but not nearly enough to provide a healthy diet
by any means. The article also provides that between 20 to 30 percent of food stamp recipients would
spend less on food than their food stamp benefit amount if they received cash instead of stamps.
Because the food stamp is only exchangeable for food items, this can limit the families spending
power. When given their monthly allotment of food stamps, the family will stock up on the
inexpensive, unhealthy food, because it lasts the longest. When living under these circumstances, the
individual doesn t have a choice to be particular with the items they

The Debate On The Death Penalty
Death Penalty
The debate on if the death penalty is ethical is something that is a long standing debate depending on
what side of the issue you are on. Both sides of this issue have their points yet there are always things
about the issue that kept it in the forefront. The right to life is taken for granted without thinking twice,
however, due to the laws of this country the freedom we take for granted can be taken away with the
mistakes we made. Looking at both sides of the issue gives insight on why this remains a relevant and
will continue being debated not only civilly, but also in many appeals in our court system today.
In the past twenty years, thirty eight of the fifty states have meted out at least one death sentence and

Walter Berns expressed himself by saying, If human life is to be held in awe, as it should be, the law
forbidding the taking of it must be held in awe, and the only way the law can be made awe inspiring is
to entitle it to inflict the penalty of death (Berns,1980). The value of a human life varies depending on
which side of the issue one s beliefs lay.
Understanding more on why the thought of taking a life instead of a life sentence in a prison is
complex yet simple at the same time due to the nature of the crimes that were committed with the
mentality of the punishment fits the crime. The majority of the executions of people come from the
countries Vietnam, China, Iran, and the United States which is the only westernized country.
The cost difference between putting someone to death versus a life sentence can be major due to the
legal appeals that are granted to death row cases. The cost of putting someone to death varies
depending on state and what cost they pay for security, police time, and investigation. If the death
penalty was replaced with life without, the possibility of parole protects the public as well as saves the
cost of many appeals. Putting to death innocent people happen all the time yet if they were sentenced
to jail for the rest of their life than many of those would have been saved.
The most comprehensive study in the country found that the death penalty costs North Carolina $2.16

Applying Learning Theory to Life
Epistemology, or in other words, the theory of knowledge, is the study of knowledge, what it is, how
we acquire it, and our justifiable beliefs that are included in that study. Generally, the study of
knowledge is done through a philosophical method. There are four basic theories of learning; those are
behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, and humanism; this paper will address these four theories of
learning, in addition, we will address principles of learning, schema and scaffolding, adaption,
metacognition, and strategies to ensure learning success.
The term behaviorism refers to the school of psychology founded by John B. Watson. Behaviorism
theory is based on the idea that behaviors can be measured, trained, and changed. In D. A. Lieberman
s book Psychology of learning (2012, Ch. 2.3), he states, Watson believed that psychologists should be
concerned with overt behavior rather than the hidden processes of the mind, and he argued for a
greater concern with practical applications . This this theory believes that all behaviors are acquired
through conditioning. Behaviorism attempts to measure through observation of behavior, using the
observations to control behavior through conditioning.
The term cognitivism refers to the school of psychology based on how the brain processes information
and memory. Cognitivism

Application Of A Client Or Patient Information
Over the years technology has become more involved in our everyday living and to the human service
field is more efficient. From electronic filing of a client or patient information puts the information at
the fingertips of all involved in the care of each. Before computers, clients or patients files were hard
copies that only a few people within that organization had access. Technology changed this by
creating software, which stores all information on the client or patient. Everyone within the
organization can have access to these files. The software is used to track client or patient services.
With all things, there are pros and cons. Depending on the size of the organization, can have a

how it is used, the pros to centralize electronic clients records and human services resources and the
cons of each software and how the size of the organization determines which software it will use.
These two software names are Client Track and Apricot. Client Track is one of the leading software

And then I remembered that I had read about Abraham Lincoln going down the Mississippi as a young
man...He saw human beings bought and sold in the slave market there and he was so horrified by this
that he never forgot it ( Audio on The Negro Speaks of Rivers )
With this knowledge it is easy to see that the bosom [turning] all golden in the sunset symbolizes the
freeing of the slaves after the passing of Abe Lincoln s Emancipation Proclamation and the
metaphorical dawning of a new day that occurred thereafter for the negro people.
As one examines the symbolism of the rivers mentioned in the poem, it becomes easier to see
elements of Hughes style and his efforts to highlight the significance of the black soul . During the
Harlem Renaissance, a time of artistic revival in Harlem, black writers were faced with a dilemma.
Whites celebrated the supposedly primitive (that is, natural, basic, and uncivilized) qualities of black
culture because they were seen as rejuvenating a depleted, over civilized Western culture. (Hardy)
Consequently black writers during this time were faced with the choice of either adopting the
European forms of writing despite their limited access and experiential connection (Hardy) or be
labeled as primitive and simple. In The Negro Speaks of Rivers Hughes, in a way steals the thunder of
this simple stereotype. Through symbolism he shows the long lineage of the black race all the way
back to the Mesopotamian cultures and how it dwarfs any achievements of the United States one
hundred fifty year history.

Evaluating Friedman s Instrumentalism
Introduction
Since the 2008 financial crisis, economists have been blamed for their incapability to predict the
collapse of the financial system with economic models. It has been widely debated about the role of
economic models, in particular their underlying assumptions and their ability to predict the upcoming
events. Colander et al pointed out that unrealistic assumptions plays a main role in the failure of
economic models (Colander et al 2009: 7 10). Opponents would invariably point their fingers towards
Friedman s Methodology of Positive Economics ; where he proposed that the validity of assumptions
is totally irrelevant when evaluating economic models, only the usefulness of prediction matters.
Nonetheless, when evaluating economic models, we should take into account the description,
explanation and understanding of the world. In this essay, by using the Ricardian model as an
example, I will illustrate that even if one only cares about the prediction, we should also address the
importance of assumptions, which would then lead us to explore the true purpose of science.
The Ricardian Model
The Ricardian trade model is a simple yet powerful theory that refutes common fallacies about the
causations of trade flows. It illustrates that, instead of absolute advantage, it is comparative advantage
that brings forth the gains from trade. Comparative advantage refers to the ability to produce a product
at a lower opportunity cost than another. This ability is the result of

choices. The strong amount of Christian symbolism and imagery Rossetti uses throughout the poem
Goblin Market were no accident, they were merely a way for her to express her Angelic Christian
beliefs. There are many messages that can be taken from this poem, depending on the point of view of
the reader. The main underlying message that should be taken from this poem by all is one that Dooley
talks about in her analysis: One underlying message of Goblin Market is that the world is full of
temptations, both sexual and pleasurable, from which women must be saved through God s grace.
Reading the poem for just the words on the page the reappearing theme of temptation is prevalent.
When Rossetti describes the first appearance of the Goblins the sense of temptation understood: No,
said Lizzie, no, no, no; Their offers should not charm us, Their evil gifts would harm us (64 66).
Rossetti provides the proof that the offers of the Goblins are evil. The proof Rossetti has given is
based on the assumption that there is a sense of honesty and purity in Lizzie. She chose the word harm
because it gives the reader the image of physical pain. Physical pain is not evil in and of itself but
being a possible side effect of the gifts and the purposeful intention makes the gift evil. The caution
given to Laura does not convince her to stay away from the offers:

Marine Ecosystem Causes of Degradation and Case Studywhat...
What is the Marine Ecosystem?
Marine ecosystems are among the largest of Earth s aquatic ecosystems. It covers almost 70% of the
earth s surface. They include oceans, salt marsh and intertidal ecology, estuaries and lagoons,
mangroves and coral reefs, the deep sea and the sea floor. They can be contrasted with freshwater
ecosystems, which have a lower salt content.
Why is the Marine Ecosystem important?
Marine ecosystems are very important in to the overall health of both marine and terrestrial
environments. According to the World Resources Centre, coastal habitats alone account for
approximately 1/3 of all marine biological productivity, and estuarine ecosystems (i.e., salt marshes,
sea grasses, mangrove forests) are among the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can weaken the coral and reduces the oxygen present in the water. A lot of fish also feed on the
algae and plankton which also start dying because of lack of food.
The pacific garbage patch
Hidden, tucked away in no man s land between Hawaii and San Francisco lies a floating continent
composed entirely of garbage. This environmentalist s nightmare is at a staggering size twice the size
of Texas. It is around 1400000 km², consisting of mostly plastic and other waste matter, and is the
largest landfill in the world. There is roughly 3,340,000 pieces of rubbish/km² with an average mass of
5.1kg/km². It has numerous names like the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, the Eastern Garbage Patch or
the Pacific Trash Vortex.
Some experts believe that the floating continent actually consists of two patches, Eastern and Western
connected by a thin 6000km current called the Subtropical Convergence Zone which itself consists of
a strip of rubbish. Waste that can float from all present day civilizations eventually end up at this
island , sometimes after periods of up to 12 years. Many animals such as sea birds, turtles jellyfish
mistakenly get tangled in the debris, eat the refuse or in the case of Hawaiian Green Turtles, nest there.
For example, the amount of all refuse Albatross feed their chicks with is total of 5 tons of plastic a
year.
On several occasions, some rubbish breaks free and ends up getting washed up on the beaches of
nearby Hawaiian

Compare And Contrast Malala Yousafzai
Malala Yousafzai and Claudette Colvin both grew up in very painful conditions. Although their
endings were very different, they both became better because of them. They also show us that the best
way to respond to conflict is to not back down even in extreme situations. These real people showed
us how they didn t back down and, eventually, with hard work and courage, they made the world a
better place.
Malala Yousafzai s story starts when she was around eleven years old. Education for girls and women
was always discouraged, but now the people of Pakistan were being punished for going to school.
Malala refused to back down and stop going to school, even though her entire community was being
terrorized. She started writing and speaking out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Psychologist s overview of what Malala can teach people about mental health, moral principles, and
self esteem is interesting because even though she has gone through so much he states, If there was a
Nobel Prize for Psychological Health, Malala Yousafzai would have won it too. Indeed, Malala is a
living testament to the incredible power of emotional resilience. He also states that Malala has
reframed the assassination attempt in her mind so she does not feel helpless and victimized but rather
purposeful and empowered. If they come to kill me I will tell them what they are trying to do is
wrong, that education is our basic right. Having purpose can help people recover from trauma and
become stronger psychologically than they were before, a phenomenon known as post traumatic
growth. Malala is an amazing example of someone who has thrived after trauma, primarily because of
the purpose and mission to which she has devoted her life. All of this traumas helped to shape Malala
into the person she is, and she won the Nobel Peace Prize because of

The Consequences Of Child Poverty
Child poverty is not only referring to the phenomenon of children living in poverty, but also
experiencing deprivation of the material, spiritual and emotional resources needed to survive, develop
and thrive, leaving them unable to enjoy their rights, achieve their full potential or participate as full
and equal members of society (United Nations, 2007). It seems to be the situation happening in the
developing countries. However, children from developed countries as New Zealand are also suffering
from poverty. Based on the data provided by Child Poverty Monitor, 295,000 Kiwi kids live in
households with low income (2016). It is a urgent problem for our future generations as living in
poverty may have strong influence on their future. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, families living in poverty do not have a clean environment to provide for their sick children,
so this very common disease may cause death.
Secondly, discrimination also has strong influences on child poverty. Based on the data provided by
Stats NZ, 2.3% of New Zealanders experience racial discrimination in employment. Pacific, Māori
and Asian peoples are more likely to experience racial discrimination in the workplace than the rest of
New Zealanders (2012). This situation can be referred with child poverty as over almost 50% children
in New Zealand living in poverty are Maori. The hardship rates of them are twice or three times higher
than other groups, so they are more likely to live in overpopulated community and are more likely to
be admitted to hospital due to attempt, disregard or ill treatment (Dyer, 2012). Thus, discrimination is
also a strong factor of child poverty. Furthermore, the consequence of discrimination cannot be
ignored; the marginalized minority group may be denied basic rights to citizenship, such as access to
employment, access to education and access to fundamental living in general. In addition, government
forces also play a significant role in the group s limited access to resource, partly because of
unfairness, violent and sometimes abusive treatments of the group solely based on religion and
ethnicity (Sewidan, 2015). The discrimination observed in NZ has pushed the marginalized

Beowulf s Last Battle Of The Epic Hero
Fifty years after killing the evil Grendel and his mother, the epic hero, Beowulf, faces his third and
final monster, a dragon that has been attacking Geatland. But this last battle will be completely
different than the ones before, and spells the end for our epic hero.
!!!Beowulf s Last Battle
Starting around line 2200 of the great epic poem __ Beowulf __, we have the entrance of the last of
the monsters that Beowulf must overcome as part of the epic hero cycle. But this battle is unlike the
earlier battles Beowulf faced as a young warrior, and the outcome is very different than his earlier
triumphs. This lesson will focus on the summary and analysis of Beowulf s last battle.
!!!Beowulf, King of the Geats
It s been a long time since __Beowulf__ and the Geats returned from Denmark fifty years earlier. A lot
has happened, most notably the death of __Hygelac__ and his son in battle. The throne passed from
his cousin, Heardred, to Beowulf, and he has ruled wisely and well for a long, long time. There have
been no major battles, and Beowulf s thanes rarely have to fight at all.
But that peace and happiness crumbles when a __dragon__ emerges from the hole he s been hiding in
for three hundred years.
!!!The Slave and the Dragon
A __slave__, fleeing his master, creeps into the hole and sees the dragon and the treasure. The slave s
greed overcomes him, so he snatches up a cup. The dragon awakens and learns of the theft. It bursts
out of its hole, desperate to find

  • 2. William Shakespeare s Julius Caesar EZ Julius Caesar was a crucial political figure that saw the fall of the Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman empire. Through political strategy and military feats, Caesar seized significant power and influence over Roman politics and eventually declared himself a dictator in perpetuity . He centralized the government, passed social and bureaucratic reform, and even created the Julian calendar. However, he was soon assassinated by senators led by Marcus Brutus who stabbed him to death, after which the empire underwent several civil wars. His death is considered by historians as a watershed in Roman history, and one of the most influential assassinations in history. In Shakespeare s play Julius Caesar, Caesar s death was preceded by numerous omens: a severe thunderstorm, a bird of night screaming in a marketplace, and even a lion walking through the streets. EZ Shakespeare alludes to Julius Caesar, in order to highlight the importance of King Hamlet s death and also foreshadow the discovery of betrayal. One of the reasons that Caesar was alluded to was to capture one of the themes of Hamlet: that everyone dies eventually. Like how King Hamlet was going to die eventually, Julius Caesar dies too. It is this realization that is a major part in Hamlet s grief driven quest for self knowledge. Another reason that Caesar was alluded to is to capture a similarity between Caesar s son and Hamlet. Both of their fathers were important leaders that were murdered prematurely, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The antidepressants actually affect the mother as well as the child. Given that the benefits of antidepressants overall, and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors including paroxetine specifically, during pregnancy is questionable at best, any increase in risk small or large is too high, said Dr. BĂŠrard. (Daigle par. 3) Researches have actually found that everything the mother takes passes through the placenta, giving more risks to the medicine affecting the child in the womb. The placenta is a flattened circular organ in the uterus of pregnant women that nourishes and maintaining the fetus through the umbilical cord. That s why a mother will need to watch their own diet and what they take, it could really affect their child s future, and their own. All of the medications you take during pregnancy can affect you and your child. You have to be careful of what you put in your mouth while you re carrying a child. Some research associates use of citalopram, fluoxetine and sertraline with a rare but serious newborn lung problem (persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn) when taken during the last half of pregnancy. (Mayo Staff Clinic par. 1) Other possible risks of more rare birth defects are being studied further. Certain elements are integrated throughout the narrative to create the desired effect, and simultaneously suggest other ideas. Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane and The Yellow Wall Paper by Charlotte Perkins Stetson are significantly similar, by the way both settings highlight the idea of madness. The relationship between setting and madness is induced by the display of physical isolation, disturbing elements, and hallucinatory incidents. Just in the same way as isolation affects the mental state of characters, disturbing elements in their surroundings can lead to this outcome in the narrative. In Stetson s short story, the description of the room indicates that the windows are barred [...] and there are rings and things in the wall (250). Additionally, the wallpaper is stripped off in great patches all around the head of [her] bed, about as far as [she] can reach, and in a great place on the other side of the room low down (251). USCSOA 5/2/2013 ARCH 470 Charles Lagreco Guillermo Heuze Final Paper: How will 3D printing affect the process and quality of constructing housing in the 21st Century? The role of Technology in the 21st century cannot be over looked. It has completely transformed the way we live and the way we interact with each other. It has enabled the formation of numerous possibilities that were not previously imaginable. 3D printing has evolved so much in the past 5 years where we can now virtually make any shape using this technology. This is something that evolution in technology can change, like anything in our society, as time progresses these technologies become more and more open to the public. (Picture A) The History Throughout history we can see that housing has followed certain trends. These trends are most heavily influenced by the technology available to the public at that time. As can be seen throughout history, living conditions in general have improved, as there are more access to resources and building technologies. Although the world we live in has changed greatly, the basic type of shelter needed for everyday life and the resources needed to construct them has changed very little. This is why we can see a lot of parallels between the ways people live throughout history. However, the biggest change is in the way we construct buildings and especially housing. History has taught us that as time goes by, technology increases, making it easier for us to build structures. For example the Egyptians relied solely on Adobe (sun dried mud bricks) and slave labor for construction. Then came the development of hydraulic lime mortar, the Treadwell cranes (which is a wooden, human powered hoisting and lowering device) as well as the start of domes and arches, as structural components in architecture. Followed by the Middle Ages, which saw a huge emphasis on the construction of massive public buildings such as Cathedrals, Churches, Fortifications ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most people go to college to learn and gain experience to help guide them in the right direction toward their career which is why having a successful college life is important no matter how long one attends. While there are many elements that can help with this, the two big ones that contribute are a student s involvement in activities outside of class and a proper, healthy diet. Evidence From Immigrant Experience explains that monthly vouchers of food stamps have been found to affect quantity and frequency of food consumption, with periods of high consumption immediately following voucher receipt (Kaushal, 4). I find this to be unsurprising, as when food is plentiful and readily available, splurging seems likely. Citizens that are qualified for this program are essentially provided a sum of money in correlation to the number of family members in their home. The money provided is enough to counteract hunger, but not nearly enough to provide a healthy diet by any means. The article also provides that between 20 to 30 percent of food stamp recipients would spend less on food than their food stamp benefit amount if they received cash instead of stamps. Because the food stamp is only exchangeable for food items, this can limit the families spending power. Evaluating Friedman s Instrumentalism Introduction Since the 2008 financial crisis, economists have been blamed for their incapability to predict the collapse of the financial system with economic models. It has been widely debated about the role of economic models, in particular their underlying assumptions and their ability to predict the upcoming events. Colander et al pointed out that unrealistic assumptions plays a main role in the failure of economic models (Colander et al 2009: 7 10). Opponents would invariably point their fingers towards Friedman s Methodology of Positive Economics ; where he proposed that the validity of assumptions is totally irrelevant when evaluating economic models, only the usefulness of prediction matters. Nonetheless, when evaluating economic models, we should take into account the description, explanation and understanding of the world. In this essay, by using the Ricardian model as an example, I will illustrate that even if one only cares about the prediction, we should also address the importance of assumptions, which would then lead us to explore the true purpose of science. The Ricardian Model The Ricardian trade model is a simple yet powerful theory that refutes common fallacies about the causations of trade flows. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her religious beliefs were a huge building block in her life decisions; this also included her writing choices. The strong amount of Christian symbolism and imagery Rossetti uses throughout the poem Goblin Market were no accident, they were merely a way for her to express her Angelic Christian beliefs. There are many messages that can be taken from this poem, depending on the point of view of the reader. The main underlying message that should be taken from this poem by all is one that Dooley talks about in her analysis: One underlying message of Goblin Market is that the world is full of temptations, both sexual and pleasurable, from which women must be saved through God s grace. Reading the poem for just the words on the page the reappearing theme of temptation is prevalent. When Rossetti describes the first appearance of the Goblins the sense of temptation understood: No, said Lizzie, no, no, no; Their offers should not charm us, Their evil gifts would harm us (64 66). Rossetti provides the proof that the offers of the Goblins are evil. The proof Rossetti has given is based on the assumption that there is a sense of honesty and purity in Lizzie. She chose the word harm because it gives the reader the image of physical pain. Physical pain is not evil in and of itself but being a possible side effect of the gifts and the purposeful intention makes the gift evil. The caution given to Laura does not convince her to stay away from the offers: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A lot of fish also feed on the algae and plankton which also start dying because of lack of food. The pacific garbage patch Hidden, tucked away in no man s land between Hawaii and San Francisco lies a floating continent composed entirely of garbage. This environmentalist s nightmare is at a staggering size twice the size of Texas. It is around 1400000 km², consisting of mostly plastic and other waste matter, and is the largest landfill in the world. There is roughly 3,340,000 pieces of rubbish/km² with an average mass of 5.1kg/km². It has numerous names like the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, the Eastern Garbage Patch or the Pacific Trash Vortex. Some experts believe that the floating continent actually consists of two patches, Eastern and Western connected by a thin 6000km current called the Subtropical Convergence Zone which itself consists of a strip of rubbish. Waste that can float from all present day civilizations eventually end up at this island , sometimes after periods of up to 12 years. Many animals such as sea birds, turtles jellyfish mistakenly get tangled in the debris, eat the refuse or in the case of Hawaiian Green Turtles, nest there. For example, the amount of all refuse Albatross feed their chicks with is total of 5 tons of plastic a year. On several occasions, some rubbish breaks free and ends up getting washed up on the beaches of nearby Hawaiian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. The Consequences Of Child Poverty Child poverty is not only referring to the phenomenon of children living in poverty, but also experiencing deprivation of the material, spiritual and emotional resources needed to survive, develop and thrive, leaving them unable to enjoy their rights, achieve their full potential or participate as full and equal members of society (United Nations, 2007). It seems to be the situation happening in the developing countries. However, children from developed countries as New Zealand are also suffering from poverty. Based on the data provided by Child Poverty Monitor, 295,000 Kiwi kids live in households with low income (2016). However, families living in poverty do not have a clean environment to provide for their sick children, so this very common disease may cause death. Secondly, discrimination also has strong influences on child poverty. Based on the data provided by Stats NZ, 2.3% of New Zealanders experience racial discrimination in employment. Pacific, Māori and Asian peoples are more likely to experience racial discrimination in the workplace than the rest of New Zealanders (2012). This situation can be referred with child poverty as over almost 50% children in New Zealand living in poverty are Maori. The hardship rates of them are twice or three times higher than other groups, so they are more likely to live in overpopulated community and are more likely to be admitted to hospital due to attempt, disregard or ill treatment (Dyer, 2012). Thus, discrimination is also a strong factor of child poverty. Furthermore, the consequence of discrimination cannot be ignored; the marginalized minority group may be denied basic rights to citizenship, such as access to employment, access to education and access to fundamental living in general. In addition, government forces also play a significant role in the group s limited access to resource, partly because of unfairness, violent and sometimes abusive treatments of the group solely based on religion and ethnicity (Sewidan, 2015). The discrimination observed in NZ has pushed the marginalized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
