Learning Behavior Essays
Learning Behavior
Psychologists have preformed many studies and proposed many theories regarding learning. Learning
can be defined as a relatively permanent change in behavior that is due to past experience. John B.
Watson was an early psychologist that didn t agree with many other psychologist s ideas about
learning only relating to consciousness and thought processes. As the founder of behaviorism, Watson
studied learning in a behavioral perspective, an approach that emphasizes the relationship between
outwardly observable behaviors and environmental events, rather than mental processes. Classical
conditioning is a process of learning associations between stimuli used by Ivan Pavlov, a Russian
physiologist. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Skinner believed that classical conditioning was limited to behaviors that are reflexively elicited. An
operant describes behaviors that are operate upon the environment to generate consequences.
Reinforcement follows an operant and increases the likelihood of the operant being repeated. There
are two forms of reinforcement: positive and negative reinforcement. When an event occurs producing
a positive effect, it is considered positive reinforcement. Negative reinforcement involves the removal
of a stimulus increasing the likelihood of a positive effect. An example of this would be to take two
aspirins to remove the pain from a headache. Punishment is a process that decreases the likelihood of
a behavior to occur again. This is not to be confused with negative reinforcement because it doesn t
increase the likelihood of an occurrence. There are drawbacks to punishment. It doesn t teach an
appropriate behavior to replace an inappropriate one. Also, intense punishment can lead to results such
as passivity, fear, anxiety, or hostility. Finally, effects of punishment are sometimes temporary. An
alternative to punishment is trying to change the behavior of others. First, stop reinforcing the problem
behavior by identifying the reinforcer and eliminating it. When it is not possible to eliminate the
reinforcement, remove the opportunity to obtain positive reinforcement. An example of this would be
time out for a child because he or she is no longer

Abstract. The Playfair cipher is a manual symmetric encryption technique and was the first literal
digraph substitution cipher. The cryptanalysis of the Playfair cipher is also aided by the fact that a
diagram and its reverse will encrypt in a similar fashion. The paper proposes to encrypt/decrypt by
choosing 216 ASCII characters out of 256 ASCII characters. The 216 characters includes the most
frequently popularly usable characters like 26 upper lower case alphabets, 10 numerals and 154 most
commonly used special characters of ASCII character set. 40 special characters that are less frequently
used are exempted. 2D Playfair cipher is a case sensitive cipher, as it requires only 26 alphabets rather
than 52 alphabets (including lower and upper case both). The theme of this paper is to provide security
for the data that contains a wider coverage of alphabets numerals and special characters in compare to
2D playfair cipher.

Freedom Is A Fundamental Right Of Individual Autonomy
Freedom of expression has become one of the most valued features of a free and democratic society.
Freedom of speech and expression are a set of valued rights that allow citizens to openly debate,
political issues, political leaders, and government policies. Free flow of information is evidence of a
healthy democracy. Therefore, freedom is a fundamental right of individual autonomy. However, it is
very important to show contrast that there is a vast difference between the allowance of freedom of
expression in in Canada, compared to free speech in the United States, where all forms freedom of
speech is protected under the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights. (Tarnopolsky 1983) However,
under the 1982 Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms under Section 2b, it states that Everyone has
the right to the following fundamental freedoms... thought, belief, opinion and expression, including
freedom of the press and other media communication. (Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms,
Section 2b) While section 2b is guaranteed to protect freedom of expression, it is subject to Section 1,
which states that all Charter rights can be struck down within reasonable limits. The Oakes Test has
been an important tool that has been used to determine whether the proportionality and rational of
invoking Section 1 was done under a justifiable and positive measures that outweigh the negatives. In
this essay I examine R v. Keegstra, R v. Zundel, R v. Whatcott, R v. Sharpe and R v. Butler. It

Nella Larsen Gender
Race and sexual ideology are interconnecting all throughout both of these novels. Being a black
woman meant that you had obligations. For example, Nella Larsen, in her novel ripped off the
bandage of what it was like to be a black woman who could pass as a white woman. She took pride in
being who she was even if it hurt to know that she couldn t express her true feelings. Who could really
understand what she was going through because her husband was set in his own ways being a
successful black man, but it was her friend Claire that made her realize that it is more to live for than
being in hiding with her true feelings trapped inside. Clare passed just as much as Irene did, but was
living a lie that eventually got her killed. Irene stood by her notion that, Everything can t be explained
by some general biological phrase (Larsen, 30). Meaning that the color of skin was only one part of
herself that defined her but there was more to her it seems that no one exactly wanted to seek to find
out. Clare s husband claims that he doesn t know that his wife is actually black and this traps Clare in
a life of uncertainty. She adores the world of privilege that she gets to partake in instead of being
treated unfairly as the other black women are being treated during this era. This is the true
examination of how black women were described as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

could not suffer as they did being poor. Black women were forced to be sexually promiscuous to find
a way out of the endless cycle of slavery according to these

The Power Of Women In Kate Chopin s A Respectable Woman
The Power of Women
Before women started fighting for their rights in the mid nineteenth century, women were powerless
and unequal to men. Women have fought to have the rights that they have today, before the nineteenth
century women had no rights. However, this changed when women decided to unify and fight for their
rights. They were deprived of many things; for example, the right to suffrage, gender pay gap, and
access to higher education but these are not all the battles that women wanted to fight. Women debated
that all these rights were necessary in order to achieve equality to men. Through the powerful words of
Sojourner Truth s speech Ain t I a Woman , we can see that women were not treated as equals to men.
Also in Chopin s A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Susan B. Anthony was best known for fighting for fighting for voting rights, she had brought her copy
of the Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution, which guaranteed the right of citizens to vote. She
had also brought a copy of the New York State Constitution (Pollack 9 10). However, she ended up
being jailed three weeks after she voted, because men interpreted the fourteenth amendment as only
male citizens could vote and women had no right to vote. Susan was ready to fight no matter how hard
the fight would be she was ready to take it on. Women won the right to vote in 1868 when the
fourteenth amendment was ratified; however, it was officially won with the nineteenth amendment. It
states that the right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the
United States or by any State on account of sex (Ginsberg, et al, A27), this was proposed in 1919 and
ratified in 1920.
Women were not only deprived the right to vote they also had a wider pay gap and this was based
gender, this is called the gender pay gap. The gender pay gap is the difference in pay between men and
women. In Ain t I a Woman Truth emphasizes how women deserve to be treated the same as men. In
1869, many of these women are now performing the same grade of work at $900 per annum for which
men receive $1800. Most of them, too, have families to support; being nearly all either widow or
orphans made by the war (Alter);

Administrative Case Study
The Addition of an Administrative Case
If you are arrested for a DUI, you are not only part of a DUI case, but also an administrative case. In
Smyrna, Georgia, the administrative case is separate to the criminal case but occurs alongside it.
While it may seem like the criminal case is more important, you must attend both hearings.
An administrative case focuses on the use of a Breathalyzer test. If you had a blood alcohol
concentration above the limit or refused to take the test, your driving privileges may be taken away for
up to 12 months. Upon your arrest, you have 10 days to file an appeal to prevent the suspension of
your license. This is when a lawyer s help is paramount. They can begin the appeal process

Drivers under the influence of drugs can also be charged with a DUI. Furthermore, the drug in
question doesn t even have to be illegal. Prescription drugs, such as painkillers and sleep aids, can also
affect the way you drive. If you are suspected to be under the influence of a drug, prescription or not,
you can be charged with a DUI.
Unlike alcohol intoxication, there isn t a defined legal limit or definition of drug intoxication. Because
of this, these cases can be incredibly tricky. Jim Yeargan has experience working on these particular
cases and can navigate the court system to protect your future. If you experience a DUI drug arrest,
you need to call Jim Yeargan s office immediately for guidance and help.
Marijuana Possession

manners and correct etiquette. That stuck with lily and it s all she s ever known how to act. Lily had
her future set put for a wealthy man, she takes on the rules of a man taking care of and looking after a

those who do like the finer things in life and speculate and judge what and how they spend their
money on and how they live. Wharton presents this as how men are the breadwinners and work for
their women, as if they are in control of the women s future steps. If women do not find a wealthy guy,

The language reflects and is comparable on business because like business, it s very sketchy and
mysterious, no one ever tells the truth. Lies are always told and you will always be tricked into
something for other people to be above you. An example of this comparison happening would be
when Lily slips into trying to drop hints of marrying her to Percy by giving seductive and lingering
eyes, gestures, and movements. 4. When the rejections of Seldon and Rosedale came by it wasn t
upholding Lily s high expectations for herself. It s more a reflection on her mother and how Lily was
raised. Lily s only view of a husband has only been high expectations, so it wasn t surprising when
they were rejected. 5. There was a lot of foreshadowing in Lily s future and was she was meant to do
in life. When she was separated from Seldon by being placed next to Gryce instead of being her one
and only love Percy, the trenors and Dorsets were settled with a bad feeling, therefore giving better

The Art Of War By Sun Tzu
Originally written in Chinese in 514 B.C., The Art of War by Sun Tzu outlines basic, yet crucial
principles and factors in military strategy that Sun Tzu claims would ensure victory in a war. There are
several English translations of Sun Tzu s work, each having a slightly different interpretation due to
the meticulous task of finding exact terms from Chinese to English, but some have been reviewed as
reliable in conveying the true message of Sun Tzu. This includes the importance of considering
economic, political, and geographical factors, objective comparisons of significant aspects between
both opposing sides, handling one s army and officers, and most importantly, the use of deception.

Napoleon s army was in a vulnerable position especially since the Austrian and Russian forces united
and considered to attack him in spring when Napoleon s army would have diminished from their
unpreparedness for winter. After realizing that his army would be at their weakest if he waited to fight
in spring, Napoleon decided to trick the Allies into thinking that they must attack him immediately. To
accomplish his goal in deceiving the Allies, Napoleon sent General Savary to their camp pretending to
seek a peace negotiation . This gave the Allies the illusion that Napoleon felt weak and desperate for a
truce. While the Russian commander in chief, General Kutsov, was confident that waiting to attack in
spring was the most advantageous strategy for them, the Tsar was fooled by Napoleon s ploy and over
ruled Kutsov s plan commanding Kutsov to commence their battle in the winter instead of spring. By
realizing the disadvantageous position he was in and how it would make it extremely difficult to win
against the Allies, Napoleon shifted his chances of victory to his favor through deception. The dire
situation that Napoleon and his army was in due to poor logistics and the upcoming harsh winter
would have caused many of his men to die of hunger and hypothermia. By the time spring

The MGM Grand in Las Vegas (MGM) and The Venetian (LVS) have both recent undertaken
renovations in their rooms, suites and restaurants. A reason for the needed renovations is an attempt to
revitalize the glitz and glam status that made these resorts and Las Vegas the gaming capital of the
United States. While both organizations are working to expand beyond the Vegas strip it s imperative
that their beginnings are not neglected. MGM Grand began a $160 million room renovation in
February [2012] which includes the property s 3,570 rooms and 642 suites in the main tower. Las
Vegas Sands isn t far behind with plans to renovate approximately a thousand rooms in the Venetian .
(Wharton, 2012) It s important to note that these ventures are consisting of large undertakings, large
amounts of financial investments for the upgrade, and no revenue coming in from these rooms at that
time. While this could cause demise for many organizations, history has proven for these investments
to reap the benefits of a greater return rate. Renovations have been known to provide a sea change to

ALRIDGE BREWING COMPANY
Craft Brewing Goes Public In August 1995, Paul Shipman, the CEO of Alridge Brewing (AB)
prepared himself to enter uncharted territory. A craft brewing operation had never before been taken
public in the United States, and he and his management team were about to do just that. Sure, there
were massive large batch breweries like Anheuser Busch and Miller Brewing Company that were
profitable, publicly traded firms but there was something different about Alridge: it embodied the
ethos and grassroots beginnings of the microbrew movement, and Shipman was confident that
widespread market demand for craft beer was set to explode. He and the team had steadily developed

Kawhi Leonard demonstrates this ability. The San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard won
defensive MVP in 2015 16 and is also one of the best players in the league, averaging 25 points per
game and 2 steals per game. Another great player who also has great defensive characteristics is Paul
George of the Indiana Pacers. When not on the floor the Pacers are one of the worst defensive teams,
but when he is on the court they become 6th defensively. He is almost single handling leading the
Pacers to a playoff position this year, at the 6th seed as of right now. The final great current NBA
player whose great defensive ability makes him strive is Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond.
Drummond is the anchor of the Pistons, and a defensive monster, averaging 1.6 blocks per game.
Andre is leading the NBA with a defensive rating of 93, and is one of the best at defending the paint.
That is how all great current NBA players share a trait of great defense to make them the best current
NBA players, examples are Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and Andre Drummond.

having all of these qualities, these players take over the league. They get swarmed with fans,

Kenny Garrett
Kenny Garrett is one of my favorite Alto saxophone players. He was born in Detroit, in 1960 and
started to play saxophone in his childhood since his father also played tenor sax. Kenny Garrett s
career as a saxophonist started early at the age of 17 with a saxophone spot in Mercer Ellington s

aspiring jazzers), and performing Charles Mingus music with Dannie Richmond Quartet. Garrett

What Impression of Inman is created in chapter 1 of Cold Mountain?
Throughout Chapter one Frazier establishes Inman s character in sufficient detail for the reader to feel
involved in his life and get an insight into the way he thinks. This gives the reader a feeling of
superiority as to their knowledge of Inman and his feelings. Inman is based on Frazier s great uncle.
This gives them a better impression of him and a greater feeling of pity for him and his situation.
He appears to be very sensitive to his surroundings as the environment of the hospital seems to affect
his feelings in a very negative way.

The fact that he is still affected by it shows the grotesqueness of it and also in some ways shows the
weakness of his mental defences. This is because he can not block out the images and ordeals that he
has endured. He is a very humane and sensitive person. The reader can tell this from Inman s only
thought looking on the enemy was, Go home. This shows that even though he is fighting he wishes
that he could stop and let the enemy get back to their lives. This shows how even those that war has
affected in an extreme way can still have a sense of human decency. Even so he still has to find
someone to blame for any unfortunate event. The reader realises this when Inman asks the blind man
Who put out your pair of eyes. This may have come about because
Inman has witnessed so many unfortunate incidents and tragedies at human hands that he has
forgotten about natural causes. The fact that he feels this way is a direct contrast to the way he feels
towards nature and his humane approach to the way people are treated. This is very tactless and it also
shows that he is a very open minded and accepting person. This is shown by his meeting with the
Cherokee tribe. This gives the reader the impression that Inman is very tolerant of other cultures as he
listens to what Swimmer teaches him and only asks minimal questions. This also shows that he has a

The President Of The United States Essay
Reflection
What seems like a lifetime ago I took a trip of a lifetime with my mother and two of my children to
Washington D.C. to witness Barack Obama take the oath of President of the United States, and
become the 44th President. Nearly 8 years have passed since my mother and I took 2 of my children,
Austin and Tanner to the Inauguration of Barack Obama, our nation s 1st black President.
Consequently, I have been reflecting back on that experience as we near the final days of a highly
contentious and low brow election cycle. Although 8 years ago I was full of hope for our country, for
my family, for the melding of races as American s had the opportunity to embrace the true meaning of
the words The United States, conversely that is not how I feel today.
Celebrating holidays such as Martin Luther King Jr. s birthday and incorporating Black History Month
activities has always provided opportunities to teach all of my children about the civil rights
movement, how far our nation has come and how changes must continue to attain full equality. All in
all, our nation has made progress towards positive race relations, but then wannabe thugs call my kids
Niggers, and it is like taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back. Explaining to my children what Bloody
Sunday was in preparation to view the movie, Selma, or trying to explain the murders of Trayvon

progressive teaching style includes student participation and technology allowing more people to
enjoy learning by setting a custom pace and preferred personal style. It has become apparent to
educators how disconnected students are from the learning environment when lectures are used as the

Schools have adapted, in general, by now offering lessons to females, because of their greater
involvement in the modern work force. When only men were allowed to work many people felt no
need in educating women and saw female education as a waste of time. Author of educational works
Alan singer discusses, how teaching was ... a temporary job, for women until they married, or for men
until they entered a profession, as support for his strong belief in the need to improve education.
Singer wants to prove how low the education field was measured in terms of jobs, basically not
considering teaching a profession. A constant cycle of teachers, in and out of the field, forced the
curriculum to be able to be taught universally and with ease through the lecture approach (Singer). A
traditional learning environment is a lecture based course where the teacher has full control over the
education of our country s future voices which (s)he is bringing up in worldly knowledge. Typically,
the semester plan stays on track and a syllabus is completed on time, however it is not as enjoyable of
a style for the majority students and therefore not as effective. The majority of students require an
active learning environment. When a professor discusses, one subject for a set amount of time, it is
almost always a guarantee that the class pace will be set well in advance with little chance of falling

Stage, film, and television dancer, director, and choreographer, was born Robert Louis Fosse in
Chicago, Illinois, the son of Cyril Kingsley Fosse, a vaudeville entertainer turned salesman, and Sarah
Alice Stanton (Grubb). At nine years of age, Fosse began classes in jazz, tap, and ballet at Chicago s
Academy of the Arts. Small and asthmatic, with a speech impediment that caused him to slur words,
he later remarked that his early dance training stemmed from a need to overcompensate for his
perceived handicaps (Gottfried). He was still a child when he headlined his own act Bobby Fosse s Le

Years later, Fosse confessed that the bowler hats were used to camouflage his own receding hairline,

(Gottfried). To compensate for his shortcomings, I used to work on other areas, such as rhythm, style
of movement, and taking ordinary steps and giving them some little extra twist or turn. And I guess
my style came about mainly as a result of my own limitations as a dancer (Gottfried). The Pajama
Game, with numbers such as Steam Heat and Hernando s Hideaway, became an enormous Broadway
hit, leading to another Abbott Robbins Fosse collaboration, Damn Yankees (1955), and introducing
Fosse to the show s star, Gwen Verdon, who would have a profound effect on his life and career.
Verdon became his foremost interpreter in the musicals New Girl in Town (1957), Redhead (1959),
Sweet Charity (1966), and Chicago (1975) (Gottfried). Fosse s hard work with creating two of his
major works, Pajama Game and Damn Yankees led to Hollywood film versions of both musicals

Project Scope
The PROJECT PERFECT White Paper Collection Defining the Scope of a Project Neville Turbit
Scope v Time Cost When people talk about scope, they immediately think time and cost. Time and
cost are outputs of scope. Determining scope is a different exercise. In the context of this white paper,
when we talk about defining the scope, we are talking about developing a common understanding as
to what is included in, or excluded from, a project. We are not talking about deciding how long it will
take, or how much it will cost. That comes after the scope is defined. If we were looking for a car, we
would first define the scope. For example we want a 4 cylinder front wheel drive with seating for 2
adults and 2 children, and less than 2 years old. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Glass Unicorn Symbolism
Broken Glass and Breaking from the Past
In Tennessee William s 1944 play entitled The Glass Menagerie, Williams employed prevailing
symbolism to illustrate Laura s odd habit and ultimate fate. Laura escaped from reality when she was
in the presence of her glass animals, and suffered emotionally due to her physical deformity of one leg
being shorter than the other. The figurine in her collection that she admired the most was her glass
unicorn, which also served as a powerful representation of her oddness and physical defect.
Throughout this essay I will further discuss the significance of the glass unicorn, by giving further
detail on the connections made between Laura and the glass unicorn. Tennessee Williams illustrated
the significance of the glass unicorn in a symbolic fashion. The glass collection Laura possessed and
felt so fondly of, was more than just an oddity. Williams used the glass to represent the fragility in
Laura and as a standard for the decorative items that women might possess. The glass unicorn was
fragile and delicate, just as Laura was. This fragility was physically obvious in the glass; as Laura
said, If you breathe, it breaks! (1.7.89). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She was never shy to speak her feelings about the glass unicorn. Laura put much effort into trying to
make Jim see there was nothing wrong with her collection, even though Jim was apparently not a fan

some horses that don t have horns and all of them seem to get along nicely together (1.7.16 18). Laura
was much like the unicorn staying on the shelf with other horses without horns. Similar to her glass
unicorn her deformity made her stand out in the crowd, as the odd ball amongst her

have a lot of experience with them, and I think temporary assignments are a great way to test different
types of companies and jobs. There are certain ground rules to follow when working for temporary
agencies. I will list them later. One of the first things you want to do before calling a temp agency to
set up an appointment is check out their Web site; most, if not all, agencies have one. If you can
register online and upload a copy of your resume, do it. This will help a lot with larger agencies like
Kelly, Robert Half and Adecco. Another advantage is that you can apply for jobs that you think meet
your skill set. Within one or two days, someone from the agency will call you. You will still have to go
in for an interview and skills testing, but incorporating you into their employee network will be easier
for the agency. Many times I have read blogs where people lamented that agencies boasted dozens of
jobs in ads, but when they went in to apply, the jobs had all disappeared. This isn t true. The agency
does have many jobs. The problem is they may not have any that match your

A Research Study On Ethics
Ethics
1. It is the ethics involved in this situation that causes PGD to be a socio scientific issue. Generally,
embryos that are affected with the disease that is being tested for are discarded. There is usually at
least one embryo affected with the disease that is being tested for. However embryos that are not
implanted can be stored for up to ten years. In some cases there will be more than one healthy embryo.
As people do not usually choose to implant two, the patient has to make a decision as to what embryo
they will choose to implant. The other is likely to be frozen for storage. There is never a 100%
guarantee that the embryo will implant, or that the results are 100% accurate. The issues involved are
that the embryos may be perceived to be people, or the beginning of an alive baby. Therefore,
depending on perception some people will disagree with PGD because they might perceive discarding
the embryo s to be like terminating or killing a baby. (Refer to opinions and perspectives).
Furthermore, another potential opinion regarding ethics is the issue of designer babies. Although sex
selection in New Zealand is illegal and PGD/PGS is purely for the testing of genetic disorders, some
perceive it as the next step towards creating perfect designer babies. Designer babies are genetically
engineered children. Currently the term is generally used to describe a baby whose genetic make up
has been selected in order to remove a particular defect, or to ensure that a

The Heroism Of The Valor Games Midwest
The Contest that was years in the making.
Unimaginable pain ran thru my hand, a few seconds later I passed out. I had been shot thru my left
wrist while on patrol around Kandahar Afghanistan in August 2011. This event would wind up taking
many things from me. The hardest trial I would endure was to regain my range of motion and ability
to lift weights. Weight lifting is one of the few sports that I love to do and have done since I was a
child. It took almost 2 years of physical therapy and another 2 years of personal therapy to regain the

It was surreal to say the least. I was completely over whelmed with emotion and fear all at the same
time. I had a little boo boo on the wrist and some of these heroes were missing limbs, or scared, would
they accept me as one of their own or would I be an outcast. Only time would tell.
The contest would last 3 days. 3 days, 3 different events, 3 locations around Chicago. I had been
training for months to compete. I would participate in the Shot Put, Archery and Powerlifting (Bench
Press). 1st day I competed in the Shot Put. There was a lot of confusion on where everyone would go
to and participate in their event as it was the first day and a lot of us newbies. I finally found where I
was supposed to be for Shot Put. I was nervous, a lot of people were there all decked out in their gear
to compete, and here I was dressed like a redneck with cargo shorts, a t shirt and old tennis shoes. The
competition began, grass wet from the morning dew and rain from the previous night, and I was first.

The Snow Child Angela Carter Sparknotes
The Snow Child Analysis
The novel The Snow Child written by Angela Carter, is a gothic horror retelling of the classic fairytale
Snow White . Carter, though using this fairytale as the fundamental origin of the story, evidently
distances herself from a fairy tale s usual features in the tense, plot and storyline of the novel.
The characters we meet throughout the story are the Count, his Countess and the girl, or as stated the
Snow Child . In terms of direct description we don t obtain much on the Count though we get to know
him and build our own picture of him whilst reading; an underlying cause of this could be the
universal way that his masculine character is presented as; the image of a powerful husband who can
bend the way things ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason for this is that since the girl fulfilled her cause of being a sexual object, she was no longer
needed alive or expected to enjoy the sexual act, thus resulting in the Count raping her corpse. The
compromise that the couple has come to isn t ideal but it is beneficial for both parties. Shortly after the
act of sex the girl melts away, insignificant and no longer needed by the Count as the Countess attains
her fur and clothes, announcing the reestablishment of her position. This is further proven by the fact
that the Count hands the Countess the rose that the girl was supposed to bring for her. Upon touching
the rose, the Countess too pricks herself and drops it announcing It bites! . The rose could symbolise
several elements that add to the complexity of the novel. It could be the love of the Count, which
would explain how the Count could hold it and give it freely but also why the girl died when touching
it; it wasn t hers to take. The final line It bites! could indicate a series of explanations; each as
compatible as the previous. She is either refusing the rose, and with it his love, has known of its
deadliness or has herself fallen victim of

Jerome David Salinger, more commonly known as J. D. Salinger, was an American author and

Young readers around the world could relate to many of the themes and issues in the novel. Today The
Catcher in the Rye has sold over 60 million copies and continues to sell around a quarter million each
year. It has become a staple for most school curriculums in the US and UK. The widespread success of
his novel pushed Salinger to long for privacy. He refused as many interviews as possible and even had
his photo removed from the back covers of each book. To escape the public eye he fled to England for
two months. In 1953, only two years after the release of The Catcher in the Rye, Salinger packed his
things and moved to a 90 acre property in Cornish, New Hampshire. His new home had no running
water, electricity, or working telephone. During this time he did everything in his power to isolate
himself from the public and his literary output came to an abrupt halt. In a rare 1962 interview with
The New York Times Salinger said Publishing is a terrible invasion of my privacy. I like to write. I

The Enlargement of the European Union
The enlargement of the European Union (EU) in 2004 and 2007 has been termed as the largest single
expansion of the EU with a total of 12 new member states bringing the number of members to 27 and
more than 77 million citizens joining the Commission (Murphy 2006, Neueder 2003, Ross 2011). A
majority of the new member states in this enlargement are from the eastern part of the continent and
were countries that had just emerged from communist economies (EC 2009, Ross 2011), although
overall, the enlargement also saw new member states from very different economic, social and

Apart from the new member states reaping benefits from the newly integrated economy, incumbent
members also benefited from access to a bigger internal market, a great potential supply of labour and
more foreign direct investment and trade with the new members (EC 2007, EC 2009, Neueder 2003).
While it has been documented that old state members also gained considerably from the enlargements,
some member states reaped more benefits from others, raising concerns amongst skeptics of multi
speed economic progress that may threaten to affect the future of the EU s economy (EC 2009,
Neueder 2003). Not long after the fifth enlargement took place, the EU experienced a recession in
2009 (Mulle et al. 2013, Ross 2011) however, instead of further worsening the economy, the entry of
new members has been proven to be of a stabilizing factor in helping the EU deal with the economic
downfall (EC 2007, Mulle et al. 2013). This goes to show that the accession of new states to the
Commission has generally proven beneficial to the EU s economy by presenting new economic
opportunities and stabilizing it despite economic turmoil in 2009 (Mulle et al. 2013), which thus
increases the prospects of a more prosperous and competitive EU in the future. Whether or not future
enlargements will sustain this optimism remains to be seen. Politically, the accession of 12 new
member states into the EU was seen as a great triumph

Cyber Criminals And The National Security

Therefore, it is crucial to learn about the methods that hackers use to steal information. By learning
about hacking, we can help ourselves and others to stay safe while using the internet. One of the ways
in which hackers steal information from people is physically. In physical hacking, hackers are usually
trusted by their victims or have some sort of relationship with them. One example is getting papers
that show PII (Personal Identifiable Information) from the garbage cans. According to Arlistch and
Edelman (2014), one of the easiest hacking methods is physical hacking. They claim that physical
hacking are usually more successful because they are quicker and hackers sometimes find the
information they want stored in thumb drives and old devices. The information hackers find
sometimes helps them to access victims accounts, and they get more information by finding important
data about their victims. In addition to papers, hackers are really interested in thumb drives, old cell
phones, and anything that can store information. We may think that we can delete our files from a
thumb drive and it is safe to let someone to barrow it or get it after clear the thumb drive and format it,
but it is not. In fact, hackers can get many files from the devices and thumb drives that have been
formatted multiple times using recovery software programs.

The Radical Feminist View of the Family Essay
The Radical Feminist View of the Family
Feminism is the belief that women are unfairly treated in society and it should be changed in order to
create equality with men. However not all feminists believe the same and there ideas vary.
Radical Feminists believe that it has been built into the way society is structured that men are allowed
to exploit and oppress women. They call this patriarchy. They believe that abuse in the family is down
to men being psychologically warped by centuries of patriarchy into being unable to accept women as
equals. Shulamith Firestone developed a theory in the 1960 s when Radical Feminists began seeking
to overturn what at the time was seen as grotesque and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Men control children using physical and psychological abuse but in some case sexual dominance is
used. Therefore Firestone believed that the sexual abuse of women and children was not about sexual
deviance at all but about power. Over the centuries men have become adapted to the power held over
women so find it difficult to accept them as equals. Firestone decided the only solution to this problem
was for women and children to live totally separated from men, and to even do away with them
completely. However today Firestones theories are not very fashionable, although they do have some
truth in them. Violent male partners kill 100 women a year while only 4 men a year are killed by
violent women partners, and most of all child abuse cases is committed by men.
Liberal Feminists unlike Radical Feminists believe that over time as the old fashioned views have
broken down, many new laws have been changed that help to give women equality and there has been
a steady improvement in women s careers in society.
Functionalist and the New Right are against feminism, as they believe the nuclear family is the ideal
living arrangement as women can stay home and do domestic chores while men go and provide for the
family like it was centuries ago. Ann Widdecome a politician for the New Right believes strongly in

Stereotypes In HIANG RAI, Thailand
HIANG RAI, Thailand No one asked the elephants, or their mahouts.
In 1989, to halt the rape of its thick forests, Thailand banned the centuries old industry of logging. The
result: Logging was stopped (legal logging, anyway) and thousands of elephants suddenly found
themselves jobless. This was less of a problem for the elephants than for their gobsmacked mahouts
(owners), who faced the challenge of providing their elephants with about 500 pounds of food a day
with no source of income.
The mahouts chose a practical, but sad, path. Many took their elephants to the crowded capital of

The ninth (and most recently discovered by Gardner) intelligence is Existential intelligence: the ability
to construct and analyze questions about human existence, such as the meaning of life (McFarlane,
2011). Because the ninth intelligence is new, there has not been much evidential research on it
(Ormrod, 2014, p.121) and therefore, I will not mention it in my examples of ways to incorporate
Gardner s Multiple Intelligences into the classroom. Gardner proposes that because these eight types
of intelligences are biologically based, they are malleable and therefore capable of evolving (Aborn,
2006). Aborn points out that Gardner s theory is drastically different from many previous widely
accepted intelligence philosophies, such as the Stanford Binet IQ Test, which is based on...one type of
[genetic] intelligence...and [remains] fixed throughout life (2006, p. 83). Furthermore, it must be noted
that the Multiple Intelligences theory suggests that each individual person is born with capabilities in
all eight intelligences. According to Thomas Armstrong, in his book, Multiple Intelligences in the
Classroom, 3rd Edition (2009): Some people appear to possess extremely high levels of functioning in
all or most of the eight intelligences... Other people, such as...severely

What Is A Restaurant Planning
Production Needs Milestone 2 The part of opening a new restaurant location is choosing the location
so that the plans can be drawn up. I decided that using an existing building is the best option for both
price and time. By utilizing an existing building, the permits will be cheaper since most tenant
improvements don t require permits. If the location previously was a restaurant, then the kitchen will
already have gas ran into it. With the location decided we can bring in the architect to draw up the
building plans and get them submitted for permits. This should take 1 to 6 months depending on how
busy the architect and permitting office is. Once you have the building permits the contractor can

Lean Management
In the production of a restaurant the first lean management principal of finding what creates value for
the customer (Russell Taylor, 2016), can be applied during the concept of the restaurant. By
determining what is valuable you can plan around it. If you determine that the guests come to the
restaurant for the quality of food and great service, then we can develop a menu that meets or exceeds
expectations. The sequence of activities would be the chefs in the kitchen preparing the food for the
guests to enjoy while the server tends to the guest s immediate needs such as taking their drink order
and filling it for them. The server might also be asked for suggestions of wines to pair with the meal
they just ordered. The third is the process of identifying waste in the value stream and removing it. In
the construction of the building the designer will need to look at the flow of traffic and see if there is
anything that can be done to reduce wasteful tasks (Russell Taylor, 2016). This includes considering
how many steps it takes to get something out of the fridge or how far the chef needs to go to get a
mixing bowl or tools. The cooks and servers must also pay attention to these as well to minimize
waste. The designer should also pay attention to green technology available to them in the design
phase. This is

Psychopathy in the sales industry Case Study (2017), we can draw the conclusion that psychopathy
firstly achieves all of them with good speech and superficial charm. The original of the psychopaths is
that they are a very good speaker, which makes it easy to contact, with natural, relaxed charm, a fun
conversationalist. They like telling tall tales. Of course, they are not honest. Psychopaths can lie about
something and looking the interlocutor in the eye without forging something wrong. Even someone

Chivalry In Beowulf
Poetry in the Anglo Saxon or Medieval Period tended to be ballads that taught a lesson or
communicated a story. Poetry in these time periods also reflected the main religion of the specific
time. Beowulf, written in the Anglo Saxon time period is an epic, or long narrative poem, and contains
an uneasy blend of Christian ethics and pagan morality (Prentice Hall Literature, 23). Medieval poetry
focused on the chivalric code or lessons typically written in ballad form or as a lais. Bisclavret, a lais
written in the 12th century, illustrates the importance of upkeeping chivalry. Unlike these poems, the
common form of poetry in the years of 1485 to 1625 were sonnets or lyric poems. William
Shakespeare s 154 sonnets, like those in other sonnet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem conveys that love, unlike summer, does not end, even upon death. True love presents the
subject in a favorable light, all the while accentuating the positive aspects of the love s personality and
characteristics. Love allows one to overlook flaws and the loss of beauty due to passing of time;
therefore, the friend will be forever remembered as Shakespeare affectionately viewed

Judge Johnson Qualities
Judge Johnson is a good judge Russell County Circuit Court Judge Albert Johnson is a good judge. He
is a decent man that meets the highest standard of competence, honesty, integrity, courage, dignity, and
above all compassion and fairness. I was in his court in November 17. He talked to the defendants
with respect and compassion as if they were his own children. He advised them with diligence and
respect to do the right thing and not to come back to see him. Judge Johnson was very respectful to the
defendants and their attorneys. He read every case s documents thoroughly, talked to the defendants
and their attorneys respectfully, made sure he interpreted the law wisely, gave every party a fair

Failures of Internet Censorship Essay
Internet censorship is the use of filters or blocks to control what is published, access and viewed
across the internet. It is used by parents, organisations such as schools and corporations and
governments to restrict what their citizen s access and post online. Internet censorship has occurred
since the early days of the public internet, where governments around the world have attempted to
address the issue of illegal material, political propaganda, harmful material or content deemed
unsuitable for children. This essay will discuss the instances of internet censorship failing to work,
including when governments have attempted to introduce legislation to restrict access to the internet,
and the reasons for the failure. Censorship across ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this particular instance, internet censorship failed to work to some extent due to the cooperation of
combined companies and government. However, other techniques are used in order to restrict search
engine results.
Governments use different techniques to censor and restrict the internet. As stated previously the Great
Firewall of China, also known as the Golden Shield Project is considered the advanced Internet
censorship regime in the world and the largest in the world. The Chinese Government utilises many
techniques in the filtering and restriction of content. The most common techniques are IP Blocking,
DNS filtering and redirection, URL filtering, Packet filtering and Connection reset . In light of these
filtering and censorship methods, citizens of china have managed to circumvent their government s
censorship by accessing the internet through proxies and VPN s. A proxy re routs a users request via
another server, so that it appears that the request is coming from that server. The website being access
sends the data back to the proxy and the proxy forwards it to the user. The proxy will only secure
traffic via the internet browser. Unlike a Proxy, a VPN encrypts all traffic, not just the web browser.
Programs like TOR (The Onion Router) are designed to allow users to navigate around the firewall
and encrypt their traffic. With programs such as TOR, Ultrasurf and Freegate (just to name a few)
residents in China have been

Learning can be defined as a relatively permanent change in behavior that is due to past experience. John B. Watson was an early psychologist that didn t agree with many other psychologist s ideas about learning only relating to consciousness and thought processes. As the founder of behaviorism, Watson studied learning in a behavioral perspective, an approach that emphasizes the relationship between outwardly observable behaviors and environmental events, rather than mental processes. Classical conditioning is a process of learning associations between stimuli used by Ivan Pavlov, a Russian physiologist. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Skinner believed that classical conditioning was limited to behaviors that are reflexively elicited. An operant describes behaviors that are operate upon the environment to generate consequences. Reinforcement follows an operant and increases the likelihood of the operant being repeated. There are two forms of reinforcement: positive and negative reinforcement. When an event occurs producing a positive effect, it is considered positive reinforcement. Negative reinforcement involves the removal of a stimulus increasing the likelihood of a positive effect. An example of this would be to take two aspirins to remove the pain from a headache. Punishment is a process that decreases the likelihood of a behavior to occur again. This is not to be confused with negative reinforcement because it doesn t increase the likelihood of an occurrence. There are drawbacks to punishment. It doesn t teach an appropriate behavior to replace an inappropriate one. Also, intense punishment can lead to results such as passivity, fear, anxiety, or hostility. Finally, effects of punishment are sometimes temporary. An alternative to punishment is trying to change the behavior of others. First, stop reinforcing the problem behavior by identifying the reinforcer and eliminating it. When it is not possible to eliminate the reinforcement, remove the opportunity to obtain positive reinforcement. An example of this would be time out for a child because he or she is no longer ... The Playfair cipher is a manual symmetric encryption technique and was the first literal digraph substitution cipher. The cryptanalysis of the Playfair cipher is also aided by the fact that a diagram and its reverse will encrypt in a similar fashion. The paper proposes to encrypt/decrypt by choosing 216 ASCII characters out of 256 ASCII characters. The 216 characters includes the most frequently popularly usable characters like 26 upper lower case alphabets, 10 numerals and 154 most commonly used special characters of ASCII character set. 40 special characters that are less frequently used are exempted. 2D Playfair cipher is a case sensitive cipher, as it requires only 26 alphabets rather than 52 alphabets (including lower and upper case both). The theme of this paper is to provide security for the data that contains a wider coverage of alphabets numerals and special characters in compare to 2D playfair cipher. 1 Introduction Cryptography is the practice and study of techniques for secure communication in the presence of third parties. Freedom of speech and expression are a set of valued rights that allow citizens to openly debate, political issues, political leaders, and government policies. Free flow of information is evidence of a healthy democracy. Therefore, freedom is a fundamental right of individual autonomy. However, it is very important to show contrast that there is a vast difference between the allowance of freedom of expression in in Canada, compared to free speech in the United States, where all forms freedom of speech is protected under the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights. (Tarnopolsky 1983) However, under the 1982 Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms under Section 2b, it states that Everyone has the right to the following fundamental freedoms... thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media communication. (Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Section 2b) While section 2b is guaranteed to protect freedom of expression, it is subject to Section 1, which states that all Charter rights can be struck down within reasonable limits. The Oakes Test has been an important tool that has been used to determine whether the proportionality and rational of invoking Section 1 was done under a justifiable and positive measures that outweigh the negatives. • 24. The Glass Unicorn Symbolism Broken Glass and Breaking from the Past In Tennessee William s 1944 play entitled The Glass Menagerie, Williams employed prevailing symbolism to illustrate Laura s odd habit and ultimate fate. Laura escaped from reality when she was in the presence of her glass animals, and suffered emotionally due to her physical deformity of one leg being shorter than the other. The figurine in her collection that she admired the most was her glass unicorn, which also served as a powerful representation of her oddness and physical defect. Throughout this essay I will further discuss the significance of the glass unicorn, by giving further detail on the connections made between Laura and the glass unicorn. Tennessee Williams illustrated the significance of the glass unicorn in a symbolic fashion. The glass collection Laura possessed and felt so fondly of, was more than just an oddity. Williams used the glass to represent the fragility in Laura and as a standard for the decorative items that women might possess. The glass unicorn was fragile and delicate, just as Laura was. This fragility was physically obvious in the glass; as Laura said, If you breathe, it breaks! (1.7.89). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have a lot of experience with them, and I think temporary assignments are a great way to test different types of companies and jobs. There are certain ground rules to follow when working for temporary agencies. I will list them later. One of the first things you want to do before calling a temp agency to set up an appointment is check out their Web site; most, if not all, agencies have one. If you can register online and upload a copy of your resume, do it. This will help a lot with larger agencies like Kelly, Robert Half and Adecco. Another advantage is that you can apply for jobs that you think meet your skill set. Within one or two days, someone from the agency will call you. You will still have to go in for an interview and skills testing, but incorporating you into their employee network will be easier for the agency. Many times I have read blogs where people lamented that agencies boasted dozens of jobs in ads, but when they went in to apply, the jobs had all disappeared. This isn t true. The agency does have many jobs. The problem is they may not have any that match your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. A Research Study On Ethics Ethics 1. It is the ethics involved in this situation that causes PGD to be a socio scientific issue. Generally, embryos that are affected with the disease that is being tested for are discarded. There is usually at least one embryo affected with the disease that is being tested for. However embryos that are not implanted can be stored for up to ten years. In some cases there will be more than one healthy embryo. As people do not usually choose to implant two, the patient has to make a decision as to what embryo they will choose to implant. The other is likely to be frozen for storage. There is never a 100% guarantee that the embryo will implant, or that the results are 100% accurate. The issues involved are that the embryos may be perceived to be people, or the beginning of an alive baby. Therefore, depending on perception some people will disagree with PGD because they might perceive discarding the embryo s to be like terminating or killing a baby. (Refer to opinions and perspectives). Furthermore, another potential opinion regarding ethics is the issue of designer babies. Although sex selection in New Zealand is illegal and PGD/PGS is purely for the testing of genetic disorders, some perceive it as the next step towards creating perfect designer babies. Designer babies are genetically engineered children. Currently the term is generally used to describe a baby whose genetic make up has been selected in order to remove a particular defect, or to ensure that a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Carter, though using this fairytale as the fundamental origin of the story, evidently distances herself from a fairy tale s usual features in the tense, plot and storyline of the novel. The characters we meet throughout the story are the Count, his Countess and the girl, or as stated the Snow Child . In terms of direct description we don t obtain much on the Count though we get to know him and build our own picture of him whilst reading; an underlying cause of this could be the universal way that his masculine character is presented as; the image of a powerful husband who can bend the way things ... The reason for this is that since the girl fulfilled her cause of being a sexual object, she was no longer needed alive or expected to enjoy the sexual act, thus resulting in the Count raping her corpse. The compromise that the couple has come to isn t ideal but it is beneficial for both parties. Shortly after the act of sex the girl melts away, insignificant and no longer needed by the Count as the Countess attains her fur and clothes, announcing the reestablishment of her position. This is further proven by the fact that the Count hands the Countess the rose that the girl was supposed to bring for her. Upon touching the rose, the Countess too pricks herself and drops it announcing It bites! . The rose could symbolise several elements that add to the complexity of the novel. It could be the love of the Count, which would explain how the Count could hold it and give it freely but also why the girl died when touching it; it wasn t hers to take. While it has been documented that old state members also gained considerably from the enlargements, some member states reaped more benefits from others, raising concerns amongst skeptics of multi speed economic progress that may threaten to affect the future of the EU s economy (EC 2009, Neueder 2003). Not long after the fifth enlargement took place, the EU experienced a recession in 2009 (Mulle et al. 2013, Ross 2011) however, instead of further worsening the economy, the entry of new members has been proven to be of a stabilizing factor in helping the EU deal with the economic downfall (EC 2007, Mulle et al. 2013). This goes to show that the accession of new states to the Commission has generally proven beneficial to the EU s economy by presenting new economic opportunities and stabilizing it despite economic turmoil in 2009 (Mulle et al. 2013), which thus increases the prospects of a more prosperous and competitive EU in the future. Firestone decided the only solution to this problem was for women and children to live totally separated from men, and to even do away with them completely. (Keller, 2017) Lean Management In the production of a restaurant the first lean management principal of finding what creates value for the customer (Russell Taylor, 2016), can be applied during the concept of the restaurant. By determining what is valuable you can plan around it. If you determine that the guests come to the restaurant for the quality of food and great service, then we can develop a menu that meets or exceeds expectations. The sequence of activities would be the chefs in the kitchen preparing the food for the guests to enjoy while the server tends to the guest s immediate needs such as taking their drink order and filling it for them. The server might also be asked for suggestions of wines to pair with the meal they just ordered. The third is the process of identifying waste in the value stream and removing it. In the construction of the building the designer will need to look at the flow of traffic and see if there is anything that can be done to reduce wasteful tasks (Russell Taylor, 2016). This includes considering how many steps it takes to get something out of the fridge or how far the chef needs to go to get a mixing bowl or tools. The cooks and servers must also pay attention to these as well to minimize waste. The designer should also pay attention to green technology available to them in the design phase. This is ...
