Conservatism In America
United States Presidential Election is not directly elected by the voters, but electoral candidate votes.
That is the reason why over half voters vote Hillary Clinton but Donald J. Trump became the 45th
president of the United States. Massachusetts supported Democratic party in the presidential election
2016 with more than sixty percent approval rating without a doubt. In history from 1928 to 2016,
Massachusetts has voted 19 times to democratic party and four times to Republic party. Why
Massachusetts becomes a real deep blue state in just shy of past two hundred years? There are three
texts illustrate this phenomenon from historical factor and human factor.

For example, some research finds that gay marriage owns more supports among highly educated
students in U.S., on the contrary, non college people could not accept this new type of marriage
(Callahan.) More exactly, Massachusetts was the first state in the United States where passed the law
to permit gay marriage, because education could help people more likely to accept different points of

Team Work And Team Effectiveness
Executive Summary:
This report describes and analyzes the statement Is establishing team work difficult in organizations .
Thus it focuses on the importance of team work in the organizations and its influence on people s
behaviors. This report begins with the explanation of the terms team , team work and team
effectiveness . It then explores whether team work is easy or difficult to establish in the organizations
through the context of an example from a renowned multinational organization Ford Motors. In the
end, the paper explains four management theoretical models on the implication of team work and team
effectiveness in the organizations.
Introduction:
Team work and team effectiveness are very crucial for the success of any organization. In order to
understand their implications in any organization, it is imperative to first understand the meaning of
the term team . A team can be defined as a set of different people with different skills and different
individual goals but working towards a common organizational goal (Kozolwski Bell, 2003). Team
work can be defined as the process when people from different backgrounds but interdependent in
tasks work together collaboratively as a group (Benoliel Somech, 2014). Furthermore, the team
effectiveness can be defined as the capacity of the team to accomplish the objectives administered
environment in an organization (Baiden Price, 2011).

Persuasive Essay On Coming To America
I believe there will be a rainbow after a thunderstorm. As any living thing, we go through many
different occasions. Most of them being difficult situations that require a bit more than some fine
tuning to resolve. We usually try to avoid these situations, because they are trouble and bothersome.
But still sometime these decisions are made for us, we do not get to decide what happens. Whether it s
another hard day of work to support your family or making anxious and pressuring decisions that will
decide the fate of a company. They are all rewarding experiences whether the reward is minimum
wage or landing million dollar contracts. I have never experienced what people might call hardship
before, not until I became 12. Before that, the only thing I saw as problems were school and the
occasional fights at my school. It was never anything serious, just some scratches. A few years before
I was 12, the year I immigrated here to America, my dad has talked about his thoughts and plans about
it. I can remember him putting his hand on my shoulder with a firm yet gentle grip and speaking
Chinese, which roughly translates to You ve got to study hard, especially English, you will make much
use of it later. I didn t understand much of it then.
But that all changed when I came to America. One day, not long after I moved into my first house in
America. There was a small park on the other side of the street, and since it was summer, all the kids I
ve seen from my window are in the

Russian Ballet History
The Russian National Ballet was founded in 1989 by Sergei Radchenko, former star of the Bolshoi
Ballet. Radchenko and his wife, who run the company together, decided to tour in smaller groups, to
reach audiences in smaller cities around the globe and bring beautiful ballet to everyone. Founded
when Russia was known as the USSR, the company was government owned, but allowed Sergei, an
honored artist, to start and operate the company. Sergei and his wife, Elena found success with this
company, and opened The Moscow Festival Ballet, allowing them to tour and perform all over the
world. Some of their repertoire includes Don Quixote, Cinderella, Coppelia, and of course, Sleeping
Beauty, performed March 4, 2017 at the State Theatre of New ... Show more content on

Bluebird, my favorite part of Sleeping Beauty was cut too short. When one thinks of Bluebird, they
might imagine quick petit allegro and sharp feet, and fun. Here, this was not the case, and I was quite
underwhelmed. However, the other pairs (White cat and Puss In Boots and Little Red Riding Hood
and the Wolf) made up for this. It seemed that the performers enjoyed acting out these roles, similar to
the witch. When Aurora and the Prince, who was quite a beautiful and powerful leaper, finally got
married, there was no kiss, but rather a disappointing closeness of the faces. I m not sure if this was an
artistic choice or if she had fallen off her shoe so decided to end it early, but without the kiss, is it even
Sleeping Beauty? However, while the rest of the show had a low energy to it, the finale, where
everyone was on stage, had a new life to it. I suppose it s always best to end stronger than

The Neural Correlates Of Religious And Spiritual Development
It is well established that adolescence marks a significant period for developmental changes
physiologically (Erikson, 1968; Hall, 1904) and spiritually (Good Willoughby, 2008). Researchers
have begun exploring the neural correlates of religious and spiritual development, establishing that
there is surge in brain connections and maturation during adolescence resulting in development of
abstract thinking skills. At and around the transition to puberty, adolescents are able to perceive and
consider multiple perspectives of their beliefs, especially in the light of reasoning, evidence, and
rational thinking (Byrnes, 2003). Since this abstract thinking is targeted towards non concrete ideas
and deductive reasoning, concepts of religion and spirituality are subjected to reason as well.
Adolescents are better able to test hypothesis related to beliefs such as spirituality, therefore engaging
in more spiritual exploration than their younger counterparts (Chapell Overton, 1998). Despite the
unique developmental changes associated with puberty, available empirical evidence of spiritual
conversion and commitment is still lacking in longitudinal evidence (Donelson, 1999).
Self Worth
Self worth, the regard a person feels for themselves (Harter 2012), is related to well being and positive
mental health (Kling et al, 1999). Self worth is particularly important to study developmentally,
especially since adolescents are going through identity development and thus rely on their family,

The Marine Corps As A Marine
Once a Marine, Always a Marine
There are many different cultures or social groups that have a language barrier whether that is because
of religion, race, or social differences. These language barriers eventually will have to be overcome so
that we can all communicate with each other. Out of these social groups, comes the greatest fighting
force in the World, The Marine Corps. Marines have a very unique language dialog that has been
preserved for hundreds of years Unfortunately, there comes a point in time when a Marine must
transition out of the Marine Corps into the Civilian World (as we call it). Transitioning is a very
exciting time for Marines but it also is very difficult time due to the strong language community that
we belong to. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So let us start with the basic acronyms used mostly by the enlisted Marines. PFT which stand for
Physical Fitness Test; which consists of 3 different exercises, One Hundred crunches in two minutes,
three mile run in thirty minutes or less, and twenty pull ups. GCSS, which stands for Global Combat
System Services. That is a program where we order parts and induct vehicles into maintenance. Now,
the officers tend to use a lot more acronyms for lots of things such as OCS, which stands for Officer
Candidate School. When Helicopters have to land for any sort of reason they have to land on an LZ
that stands for landing zone. They also use the term ASP which stands for Ammo Supply Point.
Acronyms are very important to the Marine Corps and are used in a variety of different ways. When
Marines transition into the Civilian World they will have to use less acronyms which may be a little
difficult. But with time they will be able to speak the civilian language fluently.
Marines tend use different words to describe everyday items used by the average Civilian. For
example, a hat would be considered a cover . Depending on what kind of boots you wear, they could
either be considered Jungle Boots or Moon Boots . Jungle boots have two holes on the inside of the
boot near the arch of the foot so that if you were to be in a jungle like situation and there was water in
your boots, the water could drain out through the

Voter Turnout In America
The nature of voter turnout is a broad concept in modern American politics and can be broken into
many topics: how voter turnout varies by state, by election, by demographics, and whether or not voter
turnout actually matters. Despite public opinion that voter participation is declining and that such
participation matters, voter turnout is about the same as it was in the 1960s and has not undergone
serious changes, and turnout only actually matters in competitive or local elections, rarely national
elections. The first determinant of variation in voter turnout is election differences between states;
specifically, voting accessibility, early voting, how competitive the race is, and gerrymandering of
districts in the state. Voting accessibility

Agricultural Education and Training on Crop Producing...
1. RESEARCH TOPIC Agricultural Education and Training on crop producing rural subsistence
farmers in the area of KwaMadundube (Stanger, Kwa Zulu Natal). 2. BACKGROUND The rapid
growth of agricultural education and training began during the late 19th century in the United States of
America (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agricultural_extension). Since the establishment of the
democratic South African government in 1994, visionary policies and programs, strategies and
Agricultural education and training governance structures have been established (Didiza, 2005). In
2005 (DoA, 2005), the national agricultural education and training strategy was launched with the aim
to address the needs of the country s economy and improvement of agricultural production through
quality Agricultural Education and Training. The area of KwaMadundube is located in Kwa Zulu
Natal. Before April 2013, the area of KwaMadundube was not under Municipality (Nhaca and
Ngobese, KwaDukuza Municipality Corporate communications Department). There was no
development in any way. It was owned by families who paid money for it. The receipts they received
when they bought the land served as certificates so that they could enjoy the privileges enjoyed by
white people and served as a right to own the land. These families were forced to change their
surnames e.g. Mhlongo became Champion and Khuzwayo became Forbay; so that they would own the
land freely as it was during the apartheid era that they bought the

When we hear the word, literature, the first thing that comes to mind is Shakespeare, lectures, and
books as thick as your face. However, why is it that only works labeled as serious or complex are truly
considered as literature? It is safe to say there are other works with just as much literary value as the
pieces regularly flung at us on our ever changing day to day basis. The literary canon is a reflection of
cultural origin, constantly evolving as a result of political and social changes (Abcarian, Klotz, and
Cohen 4). Literature has no concrete format and is the most dynamic part of society; to try and define
literature could be quite vexing. It is difficult, not only for the language teacher, but for even the most

Abcarian, Klotz, and Cohen claim theme to be, an underlying idea, a statement that a work makes
about its subject. (10) There are two central universal concepts the theme centers in on: the love in a
friendship and accepting who you are whilst being proud. In The Velveteen Rabbit, the rabbit
befriends two characters: the Skin Horse and the Boy. The Skin Horse explains to the rabbit about the
concept of becoming real in the nursery. He treats the rabbit with respect and dignity but not because
they were both simple toys; because it is the way you should treat everyone. As for the boy, he and the
rabbit become inseparable. Even as the rabbit begins to look worn out, the boy never once looked at
the superficial. The boy loved the Rabbit; the rabbit s company to the boy was all that mattered, even
when he became ill. Their friendship was so strong that even after the Rabbit became real, he left the
woods and he visited the boy one last time. The development of friendship in the story promotes the
message that you can overcome anything with the love and support those around you truly give

Is Brutus A Hero Or Villain
Is Brutus a hero or a villain in the play of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare? in my eyes, Brutus is
not a villain in this play, but in the eyes of a civilian he could be considered as a villain. Also i think
that Brutus is an honorable man because even though he killed his best friend he did it for the good of
Rome and because he d rather let one person get killed than the country he loves and is devoted to get
destroyed. Brutus was certainly not a villain. He had a splendid reputation for integrity in Rome,
which was the main reason, at least according to Shakespeare, that Cassius was so anxious to get him
to join in the conspiracy. When cassius states Brutus, I have much mistook your passion (1.1) I think it

Antony still recognizes Brutus as, the noblest Roman of them all. ( act 5.3) Brutus is most definitely a
honorable man because honor is the main reason why Brutus dies in the end. But, is also why he is
titled a hero. After lucilius capture, he states i dare assure thee that no enemy shall ever take life of the
Noble Brutus .(6, 3) After the defeat of his army, Brutus wants to die nobly. It is achieved after he
orders strato to kill him. Antony states this was the noblest Roman of them all which to me says a lot
of how people or other characters think about Brutus. Also Brutus had no personal Grudge towards
Caesar what so ever it was just the simple fact that even the author states Not that I loved Caesar less,
but that I loved Rome more (3.2) and that he cared for Rome more than anything else. Also Brutus
decided not to tell Portia his plan to murder Caesar because he feels like she s going through a lot of
stress already and she doesn t need his plans on her life. That s an act of selflessness which i think is
honorable. Brutus shows true honor and love for the people of Rome, Am I entreated to speak and
strike? Of Rome i make thee promise, if the redress will follow, the receivest thy full petition at the
hand of Brutus (2.3). Even though Brutus did stab Caesar he had a lot of compassion for him and he
and as other conspirators helped clean up his body. Agin This is the selflessness that Brutus had and

Glen Grant Distillery Research Paper
The history of the Glen Grant Distillery starts all the way back in 1820 when the men of the Grant
Clan raided nearby Elgin to free their chief and his family. The Raid on Elgin is the last Scottish revolt
in history. The leader of this revolt, James Grant, and his brother John, ran an unlicensed and illegal
distillery for nearly 20 years when in 1840 they decided to embark on making their dream of creating
a world famous single malt whisky into reality by applying for a license. The site of the Glen Grant
Distillery, in Speyside in the Scottish Highlands, was deemed ideal to make this happen, with the
nearby port of Garmouth, fields of barley surrounding it, and the River Spey to the south. After the
death of both the Grant brothers in 1872, James Grant s son, also called James, inherited the distillery
and took over it s running. Known as a bit of a maverick, he went by the nickname of The Major and
was fascinated by new ideas he was also not afraid to put them into practice. He introduced electric
lighting to the distillery, as well as slender tall stills and purifiers which gave the Glen Grant whisky it
s famous malty flavour and clear colour which it still has today. ... Show more content on

Comparison Of Irony In Marigolds And The Monkey s Paw
Being thankful for what you already posses is essential for living a happy life, as it is healthy to focus
on the things you already have and to not focus on the things others have. In the story Marigolds by
Eugenia W. Collier and the story The Monkey s Paw by W.W. Jacobs, both authors gives examples as
to why it is important to be thankful for what you already have, and to not dwell on what others might
have that you don t. In the story The Monkey s Paw by W.W. Jacobs, the author uses irony to highlight
how important it is to be happy with what you already own, and to not want things that you don t
really need. After the White s family learns about the wishing abilities of the Monkey s Paw, but also

Morales increased the profits of Bolivian oil and gas by increasing the Bolivian government s control
and taxing on the gas and oil development. The mass amounts of money Morales has made from the
gas have given him a lot of support from Bolivian peoples not from an indigenous tribe. In 2011 Evo

Comparing The Midsummer s Night Dream And 500 Days Of Summer
Have you wondered what the true meaning of love is? The meaning of love, between Shakespearean
time and now? Or relationships from the past and now? This comparative essay will compare
relationships between the play; The Midsummer s Night Dream, and 500 days of Summer. The
comparative essay will compare the relationships between Tom and Summer versus Theseus and
Hippolyta, Tom and friends versus Helena and Hermia, Tom and Sister versus Egeus and Hermia.
Both relationships have a connection of either what the relationship is based upon, or if the
relationships are based on true friendship or love. The following paragraphs will further, compare and

Hip Hop And Hip Rap Music
The study of hip hop music has been cited well throughout its growth over time. The purpose of this
paper is intended to discuss hip hop culture and address cultural stereotypes associated with rap and
hip hop music, but also how its original lyrical intentions were forms of expression and art. It will
begin by guiding the reader through how it originated, its influence with the African Americans with
its subculture and popularity in urban areas, its styles of evolving, the introduction of hip hop and rap
to the public, the depiction it gave off with its criticisms from outsiders. An evaluation of hip hop
artists songs by Sugar Hill and the Gang, Run DMC, Queen Latifah, and N.W.A. Including lyrics from
the songs Rappers Delight , King of Rock , Latifah s Law , and Niggaz4Life . In the conclusion it
exposes how hip hop music is clearly for black Americans to express themselves freely and in fact did
not cause violence.
Hip hop cannot be understood by just examining how the artists might carry themselves or just their
lyrics alone. The uniting of hip hop in to society gave accommodations in an integrated generation of
young Americans and it changed the racial dynamics in the United States. Even though you might not
be born in the 70 s when hip hop was originated, it has become a part of our generation and has stuck
around ever since. This paper is written with the intentions to prove how the evolution of hip hop or
rap music has ultimately made America

Essay about Alternative Medicine
Alternative Medicine
Although Alternative or Complementary medicine has been kept on the fringes of the medical
sciences in the past, it is becoming increasingly more popular, and more reputable. Alternative
medicines are those medical systems which are not taught to or practiced by most conventional
medical doctors. Alternative medicines seemingly have always existed, changing and conforming to
the current climate of society. There seems to be an almost endless number of alternative medicines,
each with their own method of gaining perfect health. Often people who are dissatisfied with
conventional medicine turn to alternative medicine for their medical needs. Many similarities link the
diverse extremities of alternative medicine. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The scientific community is much quicker to label this second type as quacks, whereas the scientific
community has failed to gain a consensus on the legitimacy of the first type. Unfortunately, both are
encompassed by the term alternative medicine. This paper will focus on the more controversial
alternative medicines described in the first group.
By examining some of the most popular, enduring alternative medical systems, one can begin to see
some general trends of the systems, understand some recurring flaws, and understand the attraction
and usefulness of alternative medicine in today s health care system. However, alternative medicine
remains controversial. Whether it can be supported scientifically or not, alternative medicine may be
useful to encourage both physical and mental well being via a placebo effect. For this reason,
alternative medicine must be considered by physicians as a complement to modern medicine.

Florida Vs. North Carolina
Florida vs. North Carolina Legislature Comparison Paper
I chose these two states to compare because they are the states I have lived in throughout my life and
are significant to me. I was born in Wilmington, North Carolina and lived there until I was 10 years
old. My step father received a job offer in Islamorada, Florida and we decided to move. I lived there
until I graduated high school, following which I came to Orlando to go to college.
Elections are a major aspect of the State Government, with new representatives of the elections board
being elected every four years in North Carolina and eight years in Florida. As far as impact on term
limits, there s not a problem with having no limit on terms in Florida because if the representative is
doing a good job then it would be acceptable to have them stay in office. Corruption or abuse of
power aren t nearly as big of issues because the power of State legislatures lacks severely in
comparison to federal power, so typically corrupt officials wouldn t want to stay in the state
department. The Florida Department of State s Division of Elections provides administrative help to
the Secretary of State, Florida s Chief Election Officer, to ensure that Florida has just, prompt, and
accurate elections. There is also a Director s office whose mission is to provide statewide coordination
and direction for the interpretation and enforcement of election laws, and to provide supervision to the
Bureaus in the Division. The Division is made

Admiral Yi s Impact On East Asian History
Few people in history are as influential yet obscure as Admiral Yi Sun shin. Admiral Yi was born in
1545 and died in battle in 1598. His exemplary performance as an admiral and his loyalty to his
country were lauded by both Koreans and Japanese. Even westerners like Admiral George Alexander
Ballard have acknowledged the brilliance of admiral Yi. Admiral Yi Sun shin had a significant impact
on East Asian history through his defense of Korean independence, development of revolutionary
naval combat tactics, and his legacy sparking Korean nationalism. The first and most obvious impact
that Yi Sun shin had on history was his defence of Korea from Japan. If Japan had successfully

The Imjin Wars themselves drummed up nationalism in both Korea and Japan2. However for Korea in
particular Yi was a potent symbol (Yi Sun shin 1998). One reason for his importance is that during his
life he was not treated well by the Choson government. After fighting off the first Japanese invasion
Yi was arrested and demoted to the lowest level in the military. Even after his humiliation and
demotion at the hands of the government that he had saved he served devotedly in his station (Yi Sun
shin 1998). Perhaps this was due to his confucian ethic or maybe it was due to his personal
nationalism and loyalty to the Korean state Since that response was also redolent of Korean patriarchy
and a host of prevailing social values as well as martial spirit and actually succeeded in driving off the
invader, it was to earn him even greater accolades as a savior of his nation (Gilbert, 2017). Yi s status
has also caused an annual festival to be held at the headquarters of the Korean navy to commemorate
admiral Yi s accomplishments and to celebrate the blossoming of the cherry trees (Gilbert, 2017).
Admiral Yi also has a national shrine that is 342,112 square meters. There are also several statues of
Yi Sun shin in south Korea, the largest is in downtown Seoul (Gilbert, 2017). Based on his presence
today it is clear to see that Yi had a lasting impact on Korean nationalism.

Contradiction Between the Theory of Evolution and the Bible
Charles Darwin was a British scientist who founded the theory of evolution and changed the way we
think about the natural world. Darwin was born on February 12, 1809 and lived during the Industrial
Revolution. As a child, Darwin initially planned to become a doctor, but his plan terminated when he
joined the five year expedition on the survey ship, the HMS Beagle, in 1831. In the expedition,
Darwin developed a theory and published a book call The Origin of Species. This book was the
beginning of what we know about evolution, and it was controversial. The book brought disputations
between devoted christians and darwinists on the validity of evolution. During that period of time,
most Europeans believed that the world was created by God in ... Show more content on

Due to the contradiction, a significant event happened in that past, and it was called the Scope Trial.
The Scope Trial was an American legal case in 1925 about a high school teacher, John Scopes,
teaching evolution. Teaching evolution violated Tennessee s Butler Act, which is an act that made it
unlawful to teach evolution in any state funded school, so he ended up in prison. John Scopes was just
a believer of evolution, but his belief brought him inconvenience and trouble, because evolution and
Christianity were two extreme sides that were not able to make peace and mediate. When Darwin
died, he took back what he said about the theory of evolution. He states, How I wish I had not
expressed my theory of evolution as I have done, (Moore). Darwin took his theory to his deathbed,
because he was attacked by the church for developing the theory of evolution. Although Darwin took
his theory back, but he had made us wanting to figure out whether evolution really occurred or not. To
determine the validity of evolution, there are different modern technologies now that are able to help
us decide if evolution really occurred or not. An example of this can be paleontology. Through
paleontology, scientists discovered a famous transitional form call Archaeopteryx. Archaeopteryx is
able to provide evidence of an evolutionary pathway from dinosaurs to birds. Using technologies,

Differences In American Culture
Throughout the different cultures around the world, there are many traditions that have been in place
for many years. These traditions have been passed down from generation to generation and are looked
at as being normal in these cultures. To the United States, and other parts of the world, some of these
traditions are looked at as being crazy, bizarre, and even strange. There are many different cultures and
unique traditions associated with them, but these are 5 interesting traditions found around the world.
Philippians
In America, children are raised to respect their elders from an early age and this is generally the same
around the world. In the Philippians however, they practice the tradition of Pagmamano. Pagmamano
is a gesture that symbolizes respect for one s elders. It is akin to bowing, with the addition of taking an
elder s hand and pressing it to one s forehead. Americans usually understand to show their elders
respect, but the tradition of Pagmamano shows an actual sign of respect to the elder. This is a very
explicit sign of respect and would show why the Philippian culture treats their elders the way they do.

The Enlightenment Essay
Newton s publication of Principia Mathematica in 1677, as well as the Glorious Revolution, paved the
way for the beginning of the Age of Enlightenment. Promoting critical thinking about the world and
about humankind, the Enlightenment based itself primarily on scientific questioning and empirical
analysis. Scientists and philosophers of the eighteenth century questioned the traditional ideas about
the universe, society, and culture, and rejected the Aristotelian worldview, skeptical because of its lack
of verifiable evidence. Denouncing God as the creator of the universe inspired the thinkers of the time
to apply the newly founded scientific method in discovering the origin of all existence, leading to the
scientific achievements of Copernicus, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Enlightenment s secularized emphasis on rationality, rather than religion, fueled artists renewed
interests in classical antiquity, as the geometric harmony of classical art and architecture seemed to
embody Enlightenment ideals (Gardner 847). At the same time, the excavations of Pompeii and
Herculaneum in the mid eighteenth century turned men s thoughts to Antiquity (Praeger 382). In 1764,
Winkelmann wrote his well known History of Ancient Art, in which he contrasted the noble simplicity
and calm grandeur of Ancient Greece with the irresponsibility, extravagance, and impertinent fire of
the Baroque period (Cumming 250). During the French Revolution, even Napoleon Bonaparte took
advantage of the stylistic potentialities inherent in the Classical Revival, and enhanced the effect to
produce the so called Empirical style (Praeger 382). Thus the Greek Revival became by infiltration the
style of the Court (Praeger 382). Architects of the Neoclassical period turned away from the
theatricality and ostentation of Baroque and Rococo design and instead embraced a more streamlined
classicism by incorporating Romanesque themes into works, such as blank walls except for a repeated
garland motif near the top, columns, and domes. One could say that the

Juxtaposition In Brave New World
Brave New World is a dystopian novel, written by Aldous Huxley, that shows the difference in a world
similar to the 21st century, and a new world with many changes. There are major differences in the
two, and the similarities are little to none. Huxley s novel uses setting and juxtaposition to help
explain how the civilized and savage reservation differ.
The setting in Brave New World is shown through the savage reservation, which is in New Mexico,
and the civilized world of London. John is a main character that originally lives in the savage
reservation, and Bernard lives in the civilized world. When Bernard takes a trip to New Mexico, the
reader is given visual imagery of the reservation, and can see the major differences from ... Show

The reader can see a good example of the differences when John goes to the civilized world. He is
used to talk of God, being shy around girls, and no drugs. However, the civilized world is full of sex,
drugs, and there is no talk of religion. The differences make the novel easier to understand. The savage
reservation represents the past and freedom. The civilized world represents the future and control. The
people of London are care free because they are told what to do and what to believe. The way they
live their lives seems normal to them because they never knew any different. When John goes to the
new world, two worlds collide, and it is not a good result. John has too much knowledge of God,
Shakespeare, and knows nothing about sex. The ideology of the societies are completely different as
well. The savage reservation believes that religion gets people to be happy, and emotions are a good
thing to have. The new world believes that the less people know, the better off they are, and they will
be happier. The differences in these societies make the reader understand that there should be a
balance between the two worlds, and this makes the novel easier to understand as a

Imobilizing Enzymes
The purpose of immobilising enzymes before they are used to catalyse a reaction is to be reused again
because they are not completely lost in the solution. We immobilised lactase enzyme by dissolving it
in sodium alginate gel. This is one of the more widely used practises in industry as it is very efficient
and effective. We can see that by our experiment by immobilising the enzyme and could retain it even
after it has been involved in the reaction by catalysing the breakdown of lactose in glucose and
galactose.
Lactose was contained within the milk and as the milk met the immobilised lactase, it began to break
down into glucose and galactose. The results show, as the lactose in the milk was left to the lactase for
longer, the break down into glucose and galactose increased. This can be seen by the colour change.
To begin with we tested the milk for glucose by dipping the clinistix before the treatment and the
result was negative, showing that no glucose was present. Once the milk was exposed in the lactase
enzyme for 5 minutes it had already begun to break down into glucose and galactose, the first test
showed some signs of glucose as had turned from blue to light green. As the experiment progressed
and the milk was left in the lactase enzyme for longer, more and more was broken down into glucose
and galactose, this is evident by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. So, the disciples set out across the

However, as Bishop Mark J. Seitz of El Paso has noted, eventually, a sort of headquarters must be set
up, so that there is an order to this religion that is still in its official birth; and that, is where the Papacy
comes in to play. The papacy was another indirect action of the Savior. He told Peter, Feed my lambs,
emphasizing his point by repeating, Tend my sheep, and made Peter realize the importance of what he
was saying by repeating yet again, Feed my sheep. And in such manner, he made it clear that he
wanted Peter to take on the responsibility Jesus had not so subtly implied was Peter s for the taking.
God was wise in his decisions once again, and had chosen Peter to be the Prince of the Apostles for a
reason, because the good (new) Catholic was obedient and took up his cross, becoming the first Pope

Iago s Character Exposed Through Language and Diction in Othello
Everyone at some point in their lives attempts to convince someone to behave certain ways and to do
specific things that ultimately will only benefit the person doing the convincing. Throughout the entire
book, Othello, Iago attempts to convince numerous people in order to in the end only benefit and help
himself. In this scene, Roderigo is explaining to Iago how he no longer wants to love because he is
without Desdemona s love. Iago then focuses on convincing Roderigo not only out of suicide, but also
into getting Desdemona back. If Iago was unable to encourage Roderigo to go back after Desdemona,

Another example if flattering diction that Iago uses in his appeal is found in line 302, when Iago refers
to Roderigo as a sill gentleman . The term gentleman makes it appear as though Iago thinks highly of
what Roderigo does and hopefully shows Roderigo the trust that Iago has in him.
Iago also tries to persuade Roderigo through the different types of language techniques and appeals:
ethos, pathos, and logos. Iago uses the appeal to ethos twice in the passage, in line 331 and then again
in lines 355 357. In line 331, Iago says Come, be a man! . This statement appeals to Roderigo s sense
of pride in his character. There is no man that does not delight in being called a real man. Iago uses the
same type appeal to pride in lines 355 357 when he says that it would be better to die by hanging with
her rather than to die by drowning without her. This also shows Roderigo that he should at least have
the joy of winning the prize when he dies. Iago also appeals to Roderigo s pathos in line 301 when he
says that if Roderigo kills himself by drowning, then Iago will never love him after he dies. This is a
phrase that Iago uses to appeal to Roderigo s emotion. This touches Roderigo s emotions because no
one wants to do something that will cause those around them to not love and cherish them when they
are gone. Lastly, Iago appeals to Roderigo s logic, or logos. This is best

The Pros And Cons Of Hypertension
According to CDC (2016), one out of three American adults suffers from hypertension (HTN). This
accounts for about 75 million or 29% of the adult population in the United States. Uncontrolled HTN
is the leading cause of myocardial infarction, chronic kidney diseases (CKD), strokes, and
hypertensive heart diseases (HHD) (CDC, 2016). According to a report from CDC (2016), HTN costs
48.6 billion dollars including health care expenditures, medications and missed days of work.
According to the Texas Department of State Health Services (2013), among 26,448,196 residents of
Texas, 170.1 death rates related to HHD, 40.1 related to stroke and 15.9 related to CKD consecutively.
AHRQ (2013) health expenditure data demonstrates that the southern region of the United States,
which includes Texas, exceeded the average health expenditure for a hypertensive patient to a cost of
$805 per hypertensive person. Two recent peer review audits of twenty charts at Southmore Medical
Clinic revealed that we were practicing with only a 45% compliance rate with the Joint National
Committee (JNC) 8 guideline recommendations for managing HTN. In Southmore Clinic HTN
management protocol is based on JNC 6 guidelines and HTN parameters are more relaxed due to
patients noncompliance and the physician s laid back attitude. Therefore, the revision of existing
protocol and the aggressive management of HTN is recommended in conjunction with JNC 8

Toni Morrison Influences
During the 20th century, there were many changes regarding African Americans. Public racial
discrimination became illegal in the mid 1900s, thanks to many civil rights activists. There were also
many authors and poets that wrote about African American culture or discrimination, such as Maya
Angelou and Alice Walker. One very important author before this time, through it, and long after is
Toni Morrison. Toni Morrison s childhood influenced her strong confidence in her race. Morrison was
born on February 18, 1931. Her birth name was Chloe Wofford ( Toni Morrison. EXPLORING).
Growing up, Morrison learned a lot about the African American culture. Almost all of Toni Morrison s
family members were storytellers, and they taught Morrison a lot about African American history (

dark hair with ugliness. She believes her dark skin to be the reason she is bullied at school and abused

many young African American girls truly have.
Morrison has published many successful books. One of her stories that became a huge success was

Historical Development Of Haute Couture
This essay will be considering the historical development of haute couture by analysing Charles
Frederick Worth s (father of haute couture) key factors in the success of haute Couture. I will then
discuss Coco Chanel s thriving impact on haute couture as well as ready to wear caused by the second
world war. Saint Laurent s drift to ready to wear and the high street fashion system will also be
discussed in order to answer if haute couture is relevant in fashion today. The books I will be
analysing and referencing are A Cultural History of Fashion in the 20th Century by Bonnie English,
Couture by Ruth Lynam, How Fashion Works by Gavin Waddell. Which will thoroughly breakdown
the evolution and historical development of fashion by cultural, economic, environmental and social
changes to finally come into a conclusion.
The attraction to Englishman Charles Frederick Worth s garments caused by royalty was the origin to
the relevance and recognition of haute Couture in the 19th Century. Ruth Lynam, editor of Couture
concludes the growth of Worth s wealth, she states: The princess was the instrument of good fortune
for Charles Worth... (Lynam, 1972:54) What Lynam seems to be stating is the pecuniary advantage the
Princess Pauline de Metternich supported with her admiration for his creations. The promotion of his
designs are partly owed to the princess however without the recognition perhaps haute couture wouldn

While the launch of the euro in 1999 created a considerable enthusiasm toward regional monetary

The nation has then ended up unable to get or even move over existing obligation except at

The divulgence of the genuine Greek monetary circumstance raised genuine questions about the
nation s capability to meet its obligations. The following rating downsizes and steadily climbing
premium rates prompted a deterioration of Greece s right to gain entrance to capital markets that made
it significantly more troublesome and in the end incomprehensible for the legislature to refinance
itself, creating a down spiral for the Greek economy. So by then, the Government needed to speak to
its fellow members of the European Union and IMF for bailout. The bailout, then again, failed to
restore market trust in the Greek economy. In addition, it failed to end the contagion of the crisis to
other nations of the euro area.
Specifically, the Greek crisis and the hesitant political reaction from the other European nations raised

like to be in the middle of a traumatic tragedy. There were some who were lucky to survive the
tragedy, but there was something they needed to have, which was to trust, the survivors needed to trust
that they make it through. Trust is a needful thing even though it has been a hard thing to get and to
establish. Trust was difficult due to their inner personal troubles two of them had some relatable
reasons. Swan had an abusive stepfather not only to her, but Darlene is known as Uncle Tommy. An
abusive jerk when he was drunk and even accusing Darlene as McCammon states, what am I supposed
to do? Just smile as you go out drinking and gambling money I earn? That money was supposed to go
to our rent on the damned trailer and buy us some groceries, and by God you just went and threw it
away, just threw it . This was just him drunk talking and an example of Uncle Tommy s accusation.ch3
(36). This made the lack of trust reasonable as an abusive spouse who goes inflicts anger and rage. A
monster at home is what makes a thing like trust slip away as this kept going on.
It wasn t just the case of the home is where the danger is. Sister creep had just confronted two thieves
who had

Using Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing ( Ofdm )
Abstract multiple carriers are simultaneously modulated using Orthogonal frequency division
multiplexing (OFDM) which is a transmission technique. Since the OFDM based system has high
spectral efficiency and is robust against intersymbol interference and frequency selective fading
channels. The major problem of this system is high peak to average power ratio (PAPR) of transmitted
signal which causes distortion of signal.
At the Receiver, to reduce PAPR in removing weight with no distortion PAPR reducing scheme which
is based on a weighted OFDM signal is proposed. In this scheme, on each discrete OFDM signal
through a certain kind of a signal which is band limited a weight is imposed. before a high power
amplifier (HPA), an OFDM signal which is formed with the weighted discrete data is then considered,
at the receiver side the original signal can be collected completely.
Meanwhile, to transmit the weighted OFDM signal the required time duration is same as the original
OFDM signal s time duration. Computer simulations will evaluate the effectiveness of the scheme
which is proposed now. From the numerical results it is observed that , the weighted OFDM signal has
bit error rate (BER) performance that is improved when compared with the C F method and has PAPR
smaller than the clipping and filtering (C F) method. Here, the proposed method is simpler than the
clipping and Filtering method. Keywords: Bit error rate, Convolution, Orthogonal Frequency Division

Gender Bias In The Early Greek Culture
Gender Bias in the Early Greek Culture
It s important to know that discrimination is the unjust treatment of a person or thing based on age,
race, and or sexual orientation (CITE THIS). Discrimination is seen throughout the world s history in
forms of slavery, social inequality, racial bias, and gender inequality. Unfortunately, women in history
also faced discrimination by not having much of the same rights as men did. More specifically, when
looking at the history of the Greeks, one can clearly point out gender inequality in everyday life, law,
and even literature.
Athenian women were the subjects of bias in day to day life. A women s property was controlled by
her father until she entered an arranged marriage, usually at the age of fourteen. Her husband would
then supervise her and that was because it was believed that a woman could not act independently (
PAGE NUMBER). If they left the house or attended court they were accompanied by a male. They
didn t receive formal educations and couldn t act in plays. Women essentially couldn t do anything.
Women were seen as inferior to men and therefore were treated like such. This idea bled into the belief
that women should do things at home while the man goes off to work. Men were taking advantage of
women by stripping them from any potential power by controlling every aspect of their lives.
Although it may seem odd that women did not fight for their rights, many of them feared the
consequences for not obeying her husband,

  • 2. Conservatism In America United States Presidential Election is not directly elected by the voters, but electoral candidate votes. That is the reason why over half voters vote Hillary Clinton but Donald J. Trump became the 45th president of the United States. Massachusetts supported Democratic party in the presidential election 2016 with more than sixty percent approval rating without a doubt. In history from 1928 to 2016, Massachusetts has voted 19 times to democratic party and four times to Republic party. • 4. Persuasive Essay On Coming To America I believe there will be a rainbow after a thunderstorm. As any living thing, we go through many different occasions. Most of them being difficult situations that require a bit more than some fine tuning to resolve. We usually try to avoid these situations, because they are trouble and bothersome. But still sometime these decisions are made for us, we do not get to decide what happens. Whether it s another hard day of work to support your family or making anxious and pressuring decisions that will decide the fate of a company. They are all rewarding experiences whether the reward is minimum wage or landing million dollar contracts. I have never experienced what people might call hardship before, not until I became 12. Before that, the only thing I saw as problems were school and the occasional fights at my school. It was never anything serious, just some scratches. A few years before I was 12, the year I immigrated here to America, my dad has talked about his thoughts and plans about it. I can remember him putting his hand on my shoulder with a firm yet gentle grip and speaking Chinese, which roughly translates to You ve got to study hard, especially English, you will make much use of it later. I didn t understand much of it then. But that all changed when I came to America. One day, not long after I moved into my first house in America. Founded when Russia was known as the USSR, the company was government owned, but allowed Sergei, an honored artist, to start and operate the company. Sergei and his wife, Elena found success with this company, and opened The Moscow Festival Ballet, allowing them to tour and perform all over the world. Bluebird, my favorite part of Sleeping Beauty was cut too short. When one thinks of Bluebird, they might imagine quick petit allegro and sharp feet, and fun. Here, this was not the case, and I was quite underwhelmed. However, the other pairs (White cat and Puss In Boots and Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf) made up for this. It seemed that the performers enjoyed acting out these roles, similar to the witch. When Aurora and the Prince, who was quite a beautiful and powerful leaper, finally got married, there was no kiss, but rather a disappointing closeness of the faces. I m not sure if this was an artistic choice or if she had fallen off her shoe so decided to end it early, but without the kiss, is it even Sleeping Beauty? However, while the rest of the show had a low energy to it, the finale, where everyone was on stage, had a new life to it. I suppose it s always best to end stronger than ... The Neural Correlates Of Religious And Spiritual Development It is well established that adolescence marks a significant period for developmental changes physiologically (Erikson, 1968; Hall, 1904) and spiritually (Good Willoughby, 2008). Researchers have begun exploring the neural correlates of religious and spiritual development, establishing that there is surge in brain connections and maturation during adolescence resulting in development of abstract thinking skills. At and around the transition to puberty, adolescents are able to perceive and consider multiple perspectives of their beliefs, especially in the light of reasoning, evidence, and rational thinking (Byrnes, 2003). Since this abstract thinking is targeted towards non concrete ideas and deductive reasoning, concepts of religion and spirituality are subjected to reason as well. Adolescents are better able to test hypothesis related to beliefs such as spirituality, therefore engaging in more spiritual exploration than their younger counterparts (Chapell Overton, 1998). Despite the unique developmental changes associated with puberty, available empirical evidence of spiritual conversion and commitment is still lacking in longitudinal evidence (Donelson, 1999). Self Worth Self worth, the regard a person feels for themselves (Harter 2012), is related to well being and positive mental health (Kling et al, 1999). Self worth is particularly important to study developmentally, especially since adolescents are going through identity development and thus rely on their family, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Voter Turnout In America The nature of voter turnout is a broad concept in modern American politics and can be broken into many topics: how voter turnout varies by state, by election, by demographics, and whether or not voter turnout actually matters. However, why is it that only works labeled as serious or complex are truly considered as literature? It is safe to say there are other works with just as much literary value as the pieces regularly flung at us on our ever changing day to day basis. The literary canon is a reflection of cultural origin, constantly evolving as a result of political and social changes (Abcarian, Klotz, and Cohen 4). Abcarian, Klotz, and Cohen claim theme to be, an underlying idea, a statement that a work makes about its subject. In The Velveteen Rabbit, the rabbit befriends two characters: the Skin Horse and the Boy. The Skin Horse explains to the rabbit about the concept of becoming real in the nursery. He treats the rabbit with respect and dignity but not because they were both simple toys; because it is the way you should treat everyone. As for the boy, he and the rabbit become inseparable. Even as the rabbit begins to look worn out, the boy never once looked at the superficial. The boy loved the Rabbit; the rabbit s company to the boy was all that mattered, even when he became ill. Is Brutus A Hero Or Villain Is Brutus a hero or a villain in the play of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare? in my eyes, Brutus is not a villain in this play, but in the eyes of a civilian he could be considered as a villain. Also i think that Brutus is an honorable man because even though he killed his best friend he did it for the good of Rome and because he d rather let one person get killed than the country he loves and is devoted to get destroyed. Brutus was certainly not a villain. It is achieved after he orders strato to kill him. Antony states this was the noblest Roman of them all which to me says a lot of how people or other characters think about Brutus. Also Brutus had no personal Grudge towards Caesar what so ever it was just the simple fact that even the author states Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more (3.2) and that he cared for Rome more than anything else. Also Brutus decided not to tell Portia his plan to murder Caesar because he feels like she s going through a lot of stress already and she doesn t need his plans on her life. Glen Grant Distillery Research Paper The history of the Glen Grant Distillery starts all the way back in 1820 when the men of the Grant Clan raided nearby Elgin to free their chief and his family. The Raid on Elgin is the last Scottish revolt in history. The leader of this revolt, James Grant, and his brother John, ran an unlicensed and illegal distillery for nearly 20 years when in 1840 they decided to embark on making their dream of creating a world famous single malt whisky into reality by applying for a license. The site of the Glen Grant Distillery, in Speyside in the Scottish Highlands, was deemed ideal to make this happen, with the nearby port of Garmouth, fields of barley surrounding it, and the River Spey to the south. Even after his humiliation and demotion at the hands of the government that he had saved he served devotedly in his station (Yi Sun shin 1998). These traditions have been passed down from generation to generation and are looked at as being normal in these cultures. To the United States, and other parts of the world, some of these traditions are looked at as being crazy, bizarre, and even strange. There are many different cultures and unique traditions associated with them, but these are 5 interesting traditions found around the world. Philippians In America, children are raised to respect their elders from an early age and this is generally the same around the world. In the Philippians however, they practice the tradition of Pagmamano. Pagmamano is a gesture that symbolizes respect for one s elders. It is akin to bowing, with the addition of taking an elder s hand and pressing it to one s forehead. Americans usually understand to show their elders respect, but the tradition of Pagmamano shows an actual sign of respect to the elder. This is a very explicit sign of respect and would show why the Philippian culture treats their elders the way they do. Henna Tattoos Tattoos have been around forever and mean ... Promoting critical thinking about the world and about humankind, the Enlightenment based itself primarily on scientific questioning and empirical analysis. Scientists and philosophers of the eighteenth century questioned the traditional ideas about the universe, society, and culture, and rejected the Aristotelian worldview, skeptical because of its lack of verifiable evidence. The Enlightenment s secularized emphasis on rationality, rather than religion, fueled artists renewed interests in classical antiquity, as the geometric harmony of classical art and architecture seemed to embody Enlightenment ideals (Gardner 847). At the same time, the excavations of Pompeii and Herculaneum in the mid eighteenth century turned men s thoughts to Antiquity (Praeger 382). In 1764, Winkelmann wrote his well known History of Ancient Art, in which he contrasted the noble simplicity and calm grandeur of Ancient Greece with the irresponsibility, extravagance, and impertinent fire of the Baroque period (Cumming 250). During the French Revolution, even Napoleon Bonaparte took advantage of the stylistic potentialities inherent in the Classical Revival, and enhanced the effect to produce the so called Empirical style (Praeger 382). Thus the Greek Revival became by infiltration the style of the Court (Praeger 382). Architects of the Neoclassical period turned away from the theatricality and ostentation of Baroque and Rococo design and instead embraced a more streamlined classicism by incorporating Romanesque themes into works, such as blank walls except for a repeated garland motif near the top, columns, and domes. Juxtaposition In Brave New World Brave New World is a dystopian novel, written by Aldous Huxley, that shows the difference in a world similar to the 21st century, and a new world with many changes. There are major differences in the two, and the similarities are little to none. Huxley s novel uses setting and juxtaposition to help explain how the civilized and savage reservation differ. The setting in Brave New World is shown through the savage reservation, which is in New Mexico, and the civilized world of London. The reader can see a good example of the differences when John goes to the civilized world. He is used to talk of God, being shy around girls, and no drugs. However, the civilized world is full of sex, drugs, and there is no talk of religion. The differences make the novel easier to understand. The savage reservation represents the past and freedom. The civilized world represents the future and control. The people of London are care free because they are told what to do and what to believe. The way they live their lives seems normal to them because they never knew any different. When John goes to the new world, two worlds collide, and it is not a good result. John has too much knowledge of God, Shakespeare, and knows nothing about sex. The ideology of the societies are completely different as well. The savage reservation believes that religion gets people to be happy, and emotions are a good thing to have. The new world believes that the less people know, the better off they are, and they will be happier. The differences in these societies make the reader understand that there should be a balance between the two worlds, and this makes the novel easier to understand as a ... We immobilised lactase enzyme by dissolving it in sodium alginate gel. This is one of the more widely used practises in industry as it is very efficient and effective. We can see that by our experiment by immobilising the enzyme and could retain it even after it has been involved in the reaction by catalysing the breakdown of lactose in glucose and galactose. Lactose was contained within the milk and as the milk met the immobilised lactase, it began to break down into glucose and galactose. The results show, as the lactose in the milk was left to the lactase for longer, the break down into glucose and galactose increased. This can be seen by the colour change. To begin with we tested the milk for glucose by dipping the clinistix before the treatment and the result was negative, showing that no glucose was present. Once the milk was exposed in the lactase enzyme for 5 minutes it had already begun to break down into glucose and galactose, the first test showed some signs of glucose as had turned from blue to light green. Seitz of El Paso has noted, eventually, a sort of headquarters must be set up, so that there is an order to this religion that is still in its official birth; and that, is where the Papacy comes in to play. The papacy was another indirect action of the Savior. He told Peter, Feed my lambs, emphasizing his point by repeating, Tend my sheep, and made Peter realize the importance of what he was saying by repeating yet again, Feed my sheep. And in such manner, he made it clear that he wanted Peter to take on the responsibility Jesus had not so subtly implied was Peter s for the taking. God was wise in his decisions once again, and had chosen Peter to be the Prince of the Apostles for a reason, because the good (new) Catholic was obedient and took up his cross, becoming the first Pope ever. Iago also tries to persuade Roderigo through the different types of language techniques and appeals: ethos, pathos, and logos. Iago uses the appeal to ethos twice in the passage, in line 331 and then again in lines 355 357. In line 331, Iago says Come, be a man! . Iago uses the same type appeal to pride in lines 355 357 when he says that it would be better to die by hanging with her rather than to die by drowning without her. This also shows Roderigo that he should at least have the joy of winning the prize when he dies. Iago also appeals to Roderigo s pathos in line 301 when he says that if Roderigo kills himself by drowning, then Iago will never love him after he dies. This is a phrase that Iago uses to appeal to Roderigo s emotion. I will then discuss Coco Chanel s thriving impact on haute couture as well as ready to wear caused by the second world war. Saint Laurent s drift to ready to wear and the high street fashion system will also be discussed in order to answer if haute couture is relevant in fashion today. The books I will be analysing and referencing are A Cultural History of Fashion in the 20th Century by Bonnie English, Couture by Ruth Lynam, How Fashion Works by Gavin Waddell. Which will thoroughly breakdown the evolution and historical development of fashion by cultural, economic, environmental and social changes to finally come into a conclusion. Using Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing ( Ofdm ) Abstract multiple carriers are simultaneously modulated using Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) which is a transmission technique. Since the OFDM based system has high spectral efficiency and is robust against intersymbol interference and frequency selective fading channels. The major problem of this system is high peak to average power ratio (PAPR) of transmitted signal which causes distortion of signal. At the Receiver, to reduce PAPR in removing weight with no distortion PAPR reducing scheme which is based on a weighted OFDM signal is proposed. In this scheme, on each discrete OFDM signal through a certain kind of a signal which is band limited a weight is imposed. before a high power amplifier (HPA), an OFDM signal which is formed with the weighted discrete data is then considered, at the receiver side the original signal can be collected completely. Meanwhile, to transmit the weighted OFDM signal the required time duration is same as the original OFDM signal s time duration. Computer simulations will evaluate the effectiveness of the scheme which is proposed now. From the numerical results it is observed that , the weighted OFDM signal has bit error rate (BER) performance that is improved when compared with the C F method and has PAPR smaller than the clipping and filtering (C F) method. • 43. Gender Bias In The Early Greek Culture Gender Bias in the Early Greek Culture It s important to know that discrimination is the unjust treatment of a person or thing based on age, race, and or sexual orientation (CITE THIS). Discrimination is seen throughout the world s history in forms of slavery, social inequality, racial bias, and gender inequality. Unfortunately, women in history also faced discrimination by not having much of the same rights as men did. More specifically, when looking at the history of the Greeks, one can clearly point out gender inequality in everyday life, law, and even literature. Athenian women were the subjects of bias in day to day life. A women s property was controlled by her father until she entered an arranged marriage, usually at the age of fourteen. Her husband would then supervise her and that was because it was believed that a woman could not act independently ( PAGE NUMBER). If they left the house or attended court they were accompanied by a male. They didn t receive formal educations and couldn t act in plays. Women essentially couldn t do anything. Women were seen as inferior to men and therefore were treated like such. This idea bled into the belief that women should do things at home while the man goes off to work. Men were taking advantage of women by stripping them from any potential power by controlling every aspect of their lives.
