Wolfflin designed four pairs of qualities, which help us to see the many design elements when looking
at paintings. For this paper I have chosen three paintings, Three totems Thorton Willis 2015, The
Ambassadors Hans Holbein 1533, and Cross on the Mountain Caspar David Friedrich 1821. When I
saw these three paintings, I noticed that they each were designed very different. Knowing that each
one was different made me notice the unique qualities within the three paintings. Three Totems,
Thorton Willis 2015, is a painting of three yellow rectangles which symbolize the poles, with a purple
background. In this painting I see linearly technique, Thorton made sure that each line stood out from
the background, showing the formation of each pole. This allowed for us to see how the poles were
exactly placed and the shape they make. Thorton uses multiplicity in this painting by creating no
shadows and showing that the light of the colors are very distinct throughout the painting. He also

Hans seems to be using linearly forms within this painting. The lines and detail are very bold, which
allows for there to be no blending, and each figure stands out. He uses multiplicity in his painting,
starting with the colors of each figure being much defined. The two figures also individually stand out
from the background, just as well as the objects on the table and ground stand out with their own
distinction of color. He uses closed forms by lining up the men horizontally with the table, which fits
the horizontal design of the frame for this painting. Also the vertical accents of the curtains in the
background show us the use of closed forms in his painting. Finally Hans uses a planar style, by
simply using the two planes of the table to create different parallels within the frame, drawing us

also require that the Jews say grace after meals, this prayer requires more components than prayers
before meals. They thank him for the land, ask him to rebuild the temple, sustain his people, bless the
host and hostess, and send peace to all of Israel. In the first section in Grace After Meals: Thanking

During the question Miranda supposedly admitted to all the crimes. The police then used Miranda s
confession to convict him in court. While in prison Miranda appealed his case and eventually brought
it to the Supreme Court. The court ruled five to four in favor of Miranda. The Supreme Court was
correct in their ruling of Miranda v. Arizona, because the majority opinion correctly argued the fifth
and sixth amendments. The dissenting opinion arguments regarding the fifth and sixth amendments
were incorrect and in other cases involving due process this amendment was abused. In similar cases
the court ruled in favor of the defendant because he was harmed during the interrogation process. The

We hypothesize the nitrate to have significant implication on the post weight loss RMR and possibly
cause relapsing of the weight loss.
STUDY DESIGN AND OUTCOMES
A 6 month randomized three way crossover trial consisting of three groups: 20 healthy, 20 obese, and
20 mixed participants (placebo group for nitrate supplementation)is proposed. All groups will be
screened for thyroid function, hepatitis A B and HIV).All participants will be kept on a low nitrate
weight maintenance diet formula till the weight remains constant for 2 weeks (weight change 10 g/d).
RMR is measured using indirect calorimetry. They are then fed a hypocaloric diet(800 kcal/d) until a
10% weight loss is achieved(estimated time 12 weeks).RMR and weight is measured again. The
formula diet is reinstated and 0.1mmol/kg/d inorganic nitrate for a period of 3 weeks is given along
with it to the two groups excluding the placebo group. RMR, plasma and salivary nitrite levels and
weight changes are recorded.
SIGNIFICANCE
The only study on effect of nitrates on RMR was on healthy humans and no study has been done to
study their effect on weight maintenance. Obesity is a serious condition and long term maintenance of
target weight by obese individuals is not very successful(Wing Phelan, 2005). This study aims study
the differences in RMR changes after a nitrate rich diet between obese and healthy subjects and see

The authors bring up this idea is chapter two when they discuss the idea surrounding a tax on the
inheritance given from an elderly family member to the rest of their surviving family. While most
people without an economic mindset would instantly think that lowing the inheritance tax would be a
good idea, Levitt and Dubner presented a counter theory/argument. They proposed that if the
inheritance tax was decreased, theoretically, those people expecting a share of the inheritance would
have less drive to exert the time or effort to keep the elderly person in good health thus resulting in a
faster pay out of the inheritance. I found this to be quite interesting because I, before reading this, was
in the same boat as most others by thinking that the inheritance tax should not be very high. However,
after reading this, I would consider a minor increase in the inheritance tax to be justified because I
think that the lives of the elderly, especially family members, should be more important than the
inheritance that they leave behind. I wouldn t go too far though to raise the tax so high because I think
that there is a ceiling where there would just be no benefit in even having an inheritance at all. I think
that now, after reading this, I will think more closely when the time comes for any of my close family

They proposed that if the inheritance tax was decreased, theoretically, those people expecting a share of the inheritance would have less drive to exert the time or effort to keep the elderly person in good health thus resulting in a faster pay out of the inheritance. I found this to be quite interesting because I, before reading this, was in the same boat as most others by thinking that the inheritance tax should not be very high. However, after reading this, I would consider a minor increase in the inheritance tax to be justified because I think that the lives of the elderly, especially family members, should be more important than the inheritance that they leave behind. I wouldn t go too far though to raise the tax so high because I think that there is a ceiling where there would just be no benefit in even having an inheritance at all.
