Security Dilemma During World War I
Security Dilemma in World War I
The World War I which is commonly known as the First World War took place in the between 28 July
1914 and the 11 November 1918 was a global concern that had started in
Europe. During this historic war, approximately 70 million military manpower with 60 million being
Europeans were deployed. approximately 9 million combatants, as well as 7 million civilians, perished
during the skirmishes, the casualty rate worsened by the aggressive technological as well as industrial
sophistication and the tactical standoff that were caused by severe trench warfare (Berghahn 122 124).

This resulted to diplomatic crisis when Austria Hungary gave an ultimatum to the Kingdom of Serbia,
and entangled international alliance created in past decades were invoked (Connor 258 260). In a span
of weeks, the major influential nations went into war, and the hostility soon spread all over the world.
On 28 July, the Austria Hungarians declared war on Serbia. Immediately Russia deployed combatants
to support Serbia, German, on the other hand, attacked Belgium as well as Luxembourg before
proceeding to France. This resulted to the United Kingdom declaring war on Germany. Later, a
German march was halted which was then known as the Western Front, a battle of attrition was settled
with a trench line that remained unchanged until 1971.
However, on the Eastern Front, the Russian military had successfully suppressed Austria
Hungarians and Germany stopped its incursion of East Prussia (Dowling). On November 1914, the
Ottoman Empire started supporting the Central Powers hence opening the fronts in
Mesopotamia, the Caucasus as well as the Sinai. Italy joined the Allies in 1915 while Bulgaria opted
to support the Central Powers; In 1916 Romania collaborated with the Allies and later in
1917 the United States acceded to the Allies.
The security dilemma which is also referred to as the spiral model is a term applied in international
relations. It refers to a condition whereby a state takes

Increase in current liabilities Substantial increase in current liabilities weakened the company s
liquidity position. Its current liabilities were US$2,063.94 million at the end of FY2010, a 48.09%
increase compared to the previous year. However, its current assets recorded a marginal increase of
25.07% from US$1,770.02 million at the end of FY2009 to US$2,213.72 million at the end of
FY2010. Following this, the company s current ratio declined from 1.27 at the end of the FY2009 to
1.07 at the end of FY2010. A lower current ratio indicates that the company is in a weak financial
position, and it may find it difficult to meet its day to day obligations.
Opportunities:
Global demand for coatings market The growing market for global coatings will certainly benefit the
company. Market analysts expect the global coatings market to reach US$98.69 billion by 2015. This
expected increase is primarily due to economic activity, rapid industrialization, and increasing demand
from automotive and construction sectors in developing countries. The Asian market is also forecast to
increase at a compounded annual growth rate of 4.2% through 2015. Being a manufacturer of paints
and coatings, the company can tap this growing market.

For instance, Dell chose to distribute straight to the company with great success and cost savings and
then later changed their plan to include selling through Wal Mart when the time called for it. Gateway
however, decided to open their own stores but didn t sell their product from it. This led to the failure
of Gateway. Poor distribution network designs can hurt customer satisfaction and increase costs
hurting the profitability of the company. Two factors need to be considered when designing a
distribution network; customer needs to be met and the cost of meeting customer needs. When
thinking of customer needs it s important to consider what the distribution directly influences, which
is response time, product variety, product availability, and customer experience, time to market, order
visibility and return ability. Things that affect the cost of the distribution design are inventories,
transportation, facilities and handling, information, sourcing and pricing. As the number of facilities
increases, the inventory costs increase. It s important to decrease the number of facilities not only to
save on inventory costs but also to cut down on facility costs. For transportation you have inbound and
outbound with outbound being the bigger cost. Creating economies of scale in transportation is a great
way to reduce costs. There are six design options for the distribution network which include
manufacturer storage with direct

Jehovah s Witnesses During The Nazi Regime
All you have to do is sign this document and all your suffering and pain will end, now will you sign,
or not? This is a decision that many of Jehovah s Witnesses during the Nazi Regime faced. What did
this document contain? It stated that they would abandon their beliefs and faith in Jehovah God and
pledge loyalty to the man behind their persecution of not only them, but also persecutor of the gypsies,
Jews, and other groups of people he hated, he was Adolf Hitler. Jehovah s Witnesses had a number of
their human rights violated during the Holocaust. Foremost though, what are human rights? According
to www.humanrights.com, human rights are, The rights you have simply because you are human.
There are thirty human rights that are found in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that people
should apply, but sadly don t. The book Stolen Into Slavery by Judith Dennis and Fradin explains
another group of people that were violated of their human rights, 19th century slaves. These slaves
were required to labor and suffer pain in the South, but some of these slaves were actually free black
men from the northern states (where slavery was illegal) who had been lured into the southern states
(where slavery was legal and encouraged) like Solomon Northup was a victim to this scam. Jehovah s
Witnesses and slaves were persecuted in a homogeneous manner, in a sense that both groups were
tortured, imprisoned and taken away to another country or location, and they were also stripped of

Taming Of The Shrew Identity Essay
Identity Two liquids lie in front of someone, one is clear as crystals and sits in a golden cup labeled
water, the other is in a bottle encrusted with mud and grime labeled with a skull and crossbones. Both
have lids sealed on tight. Which should one drink? As the liquid pours out of the golden cup, it smells
of chemicals and is poisonous to taste. On the contrary, the liquid from the dirty bottle is pure and
clear. Should one still drink from the golden cup? The way something appears or is identified as is not
always true. Sometimes a deeper look is needed to see what is inside. The movie 10 Things I Hate
About you and the play Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare both deal with how identities
assigned by society can affect the way people act, no matter who they truly are, and this is seen
through the actions of multiple characters throughout both the play and the movie. If someone is

Sometimes a deeper look is needed to see what is inside. In Shakespeare s play, The Taming of the
Shrew and in the movie 10 Things I Hate About You the underlying theme of identity stands out to
show this. No matter how much characters change, they are still viewed with old identities. However,
they both also show that no matter how society treats people, if they want to, they can be true to
themselves and break the rules of society s judgments. In addition, both plots show that people act the
way they do for a reason. Now, two liquids sit in front of someone. One in a beautiful golden cup, the
liquid is as clear as crystal, and the label says water. Next to it sits a bottle encrusted with mud and

American Sniper Themes
American Sniper tells the story of Chris Kyle, a U.S. Navy SEAL, who becomes one of the deadliest
snipers in American history. In his four tours of duty, his goal is to save the lives of his comrades, but
this makes him the most wanted man by insurgents in Iraq. Chris has to sacrifice his relationship with
his family at home in order to complete his duty, and when he finally returns home, he still cannot get
over the war. Clint Eastwood succeeded in his choice of cast. Bradley Cooper was a perfect actor for
this role because he accurately portrayed Chris Kyle s experiences and struggles. Cooper displayed the
actions of a veteran upon returning home from war, and this could not have been done in a more
realistic way. Sienna Miller played ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These items are detailed through Kyle s deployments. Eastwood successfully created images of what
the battlefield in Iraq looks like. In addition, he used symbols such as the American flag and the Navy
SEAL trident to express Kyle s pride for America. The themes of this film connect Kyle s struggles
with his family, deployment, and remembrance of war. Overall, the story line successfully depicts
Chris Kyle s life. The film begins with Kyle s childhood and training to become a Navy SEAL. The
rest of the film goes through Kyle s deployments in Iraq and his struggles with being a husband and
father at home. Having the film from the perspective of Chris Kyle makes the plot more effective than
if it were from another character s perspective. The character of Taya Kyle seemed to have a negative
aspect because she was against her husband going to war and she was overall a very one dimensional
character. The production of American Sniper by Clint Eastwood was very well done. The use of
montages to show Kyle s memories is successful in reinforcing his inner struggles. The continual use
of diegetic sound made the film even more real and put the viewer in a position as if they were
experiencing the war with the characters. When Kyle is killed by a Marine whom he was trying to
help, the film transitions to actual videos from his funeral procession in Texas, which makes the film

The New Science Of Siblings Essay
The New Science of Siblings The article The New Science of Siblings talk to us about the behavior
that siblings have towards each other. Siblings have very distinct relationship. One minute, they would
be fighting and the next they could be ready to kill each other. However, this relationship can be
beneficial. Children fights between siblings can be good because it teaches social skills and how to
resolve conflicts. They are viewed as a rehearsal tool for later in life. Siblings tend to be exposed to

Surviving The Holocaust
Have you ever wondered how the people survived the Holocaust? Would you know how to protect
yourself if you were in that position? Would you know how to live with people dieing in front of you?
It all started in January 1933, it ended after thirteen years on May 8 ,1946, after Hitler committed
suicide. In 1935 1939, 121 new laws and ordinances were made, this made the Jews lives very
frustrating and difficult. In 1935 the Nuremberg laws were passed, Jews were no longer citizens of
Germany. These people that were striped of their citizenships were defined Jews, partial Jews, and

In 1946, a pest control company was tried for selling huge quantities of Zyklon B to the concentration
camps. Carbon monoxide was originally used until they got their hands on Zyklon B. They would
stuff the people in and screw the doors shut and then release the carbon monoxide. After they found
Zyklon B then they would drop the pellets into the vent and then the pellets would release toxic gas. In
the gas chambers, the gas would rise from the lower air and then it would rise to the top. When the gas
would start to reach the top, people would climb on top of people so that that way they could get the
non toxic air at the top. Jewish prisoners were burned in ovens because the Nazis didn t want
eyewitnesses. A total of one third of the Jewish people who were alive at that time were killed in the
Holocaust.
After reading all the research about the Holocaust, I thought to myself I can t imagine being in a
concentration camp and having my family there too. I am so happy to be living in America today
because no matter what color skin you are or religion you are we can all get along together. I really
hope this never happens again. Just make sure that every morning you wake up and appreciate the

to prepare for a hurricane. But there are also safe, easy, and right ways to prepare for a hurricane also.
There are many ranks that a hurricane can have. The rinks go 1 5 a five being the worst. According to

had been recorded to have 175 mph wind or greater.
According to Florida preparing for Category 5 Hurricane Irma by Adam Jeffrey, it states really how

Violence And Hate Crime And Violence Through Intercultural...
Violence and hate crimes are frequent in the United States and have become a major issue for many
people. Violence comes in many different forms such as domestic, societal, and individual. Violence is
the main cause of distress and has the power to tear families apart. As a result, the newer generation of
kids are left to deal with insecurity, inequality, and injustice. In order to ensure that people carry out
the proper approach to violence, professionals and even every day individuals must be trained through
education or forums on how to manage these issues. The purpose of this paper is to provide an
intercultural approach to reduce the violence and the suffering that many communities face. This
paper provides an intervention to hate crime and violence through intercultural praxis, education, and
socially responsible actions. Social violence or crimes involves people from different cultures and
their diversity lead to emergence of superiority and inferiority (In Sorrells In Sekimoto, 2015).
Cultural groups that are seen as inferior are looked down upon by superior cultures which then creates
a rivalry. To end this violence, education and awareness must be the key first and foremost, then
intercultural praxis and social responsibilities will help to an extent. The main focus will be on the
historical ideas, concepts and theories that explain the creation of social violence as well as hate
crime. Many factors contribute to social violence, while some of them come from

My Life Problems
Living a happy life isn t without problems (dragons) but, being able to control (tame) them. For me, I

there are some that stand out in front of other problems and one of those problems is decisiveness

are some questions that I ask myself almost every day in life. There are two types of decisions there

what decision is truly good or bad. Decisiveness is natural it comes with the gut feeling but I was

We All Fall Down And The Permission Of Marina Mcduff
We all fall down
(Inspired by true events. Used with the permission of Marina Mcduff.)
When Sarah s aunt told me this story I thought she was being silly. A long time ago Jane had a new
baby, a new house, and no husband. She was lucky when her sister Eloise offered to come stay with
her and help out, until her husband returned from working in Alberta. The sisters had almost finished
unpacking, but Eloise found one small box, labeled for the baby, that sat alone in the dark hallway.
Jane, what s in here? Eloise asked.
I can t remember, Jane said, looking at the label. Kate s got so much stuff. Open it, and have a look.
Eloise got a knife and carefully sliced through the red packing tape, and lifted the box s lid. Inside lay

Jane did you put on one of the tapes?
No one answered her.
Eloise figured Jane had already gone back to bed. She crept into the room, and looked around for the
tape player. The music had already stopped, but Eloise looked around the room anyway.
Kate looked like a cherub asleep in her cot. Black curls fanned her pillow, and Kate pursed her lips
together in a little frown.
I know, said Eloise, stroking Kate s cheek with her finger. It s cold, but we ll get that sorted. Eloise
pulled a blanket off a chair, and lovingly covered her niece with it. She then went back to her own
room, and promptly fell asleep.
The next morning Eloise sat with her sister, while Jane fed the baby pureed carrots. Kate resembled a
jack o lantern, her face was caked in orange and she was smiling naughtily.
Jane, did you put on one of the tapes last night? Eloise asked.
No, why?
I thought I heard music last night.
You must have been dreaming, smiled Jane. I wish I slept that well.
I must have been, I thought I heard a little girl singing.
Well, I generally prefer more adult dreams, but I guess any good dream will do. I only get pockets of
sleep these days.
It didn t feel like a good dream, Eloise said.
Was the little girl trying to kill you? Jane teased, wiping the baby s mouth with a cloth.
No, but it sounded odd. Too pretty.
Well at least the kid wasn t crying, Jane said.
Yeah, Eloise said, biting her bottom lip.

Cost Allocation And Cost Management
Cost Allocation Almost every single company that is in business faces a serious problem called cost
allocation. Every company no matter what they sell or what service they provide faces the problem of
allocating costs to defined cost objects. The cost allocation process is a very hard process for most.
Cost allocation is a very complex and difficult procedure that requires the application of appropriate
accounting procedures. These accounting methods sometimes will not provide objective and fair cost
allocation because they have irrational bases that are not always reliable or appropriate. This is why
accounting theory and practice steadily try to advance upon methods that are already in place and help
develop new ones that could provide objective and fair cost allocation (Perčević Dražić, 2008). Cost
allocation is a very crucial procedure for many companies not just production companies, but also in
companies that provide service. Cost allocation has one purpose and that is to enable the
determination of the cost of a product per unit in production companies and the cost of a provided
service in service companies. Therefore, methods for cost allocation directly affect the service or
product profitability assessment and at the same time sway segment and company profitability. The
main problem is the choice of the cost allocation accounting approach. There are certain methods for
cost allocation that do not apply the same to every company. If the method for

Schistosomiasis, is second only to malaria as a cause of morbidity. Schistosomiasis affects
approximately 240 million people globally (Hotez, 2013). The main areas affected are the regions near
the equator, parts of the Middle East, Asia, South America, and the entire continent of Africa. The
mortality rate of Schistosomiasis in Sub Saharan Africa is approximately more than 200,000 each
year. Based on my research, Schistosomiasis is spread due to a combination of a lack of prevention
based education and poor living conditions. In this paper we will discuss the origin of schistosomiasis,
get more in depth about the effects of schistosomiasis, and the methodology regarding disease
prevention.
Introduction of the Disease
Schistosomes are water borne cestodes or blood flukes that use the human skin as their port of entry.
The symptoms of schistosomiasis can vary from having a fever, joint pains, bloody diarrhea, ascites,
abdominal pain, and hematuria. In the long run, patients can develop an abnormally enlarged spleen
and liver accompanied with enlarged lymph nodes. The current increase in the prevalence of
schistosomiasis has been attributed to causes such as increase irrigation schemes.

Heaney s father, also, holds a similar state of mind like a baby in a sense. He appears to be weak when
he thinks about the death of such a loved family member. However, the father unlike a baby is very
sorrowful and shows emotion. He had always taken funerals in his stride , makes me think that this
must be the first life loss that has been an upsetting shock to him.
I saw him for the first time in six weeks. Paler now... This was an image that obviously layed within
Heaney s memories, and he finally had the chance to reveal it with expression. Seeing the dead body
of someone you love can be disturbing, but for Heaney he thought of it differently as he described the
atmosphere candles soothed the bedside . My thoughts of a room like that would be depressing unlike
Heaney s. I find it a misleading and unusual perspective.
The Early Purges
My immediate response to this poem was quite shocking! Heaney uses distasteful language the
scraggy wee shits to describe kittens, and what was to be expected of the treatment towards them.

Motivating an Athletic Performer Essay
This essay will include the different types of motivational theories. It will illustrate the different types
of motivation and how each affects the performers in various ways. Positive and negative issues of the
types of motivation will be discussed to determine which is the best method of motivation and why. It
will also illustrate how these motivational theories are used to motivate a performer. This essay will be
concluded by stating the best motivation method, and how a coach or teacher could use it in
motivating a performer.
Motivation can be described in various ways:

Extrinsic motivation is related to the external factors that drive an athlete to participate and perform.
External factors often come in the form of rewards such as medals, badges or prizes. Primary
motivation is derived from the activity itself whilst secondary motivation comes from performing for
someone other than yourself. Positive motivation is the positive feeling that you get from competing
which encourages you to keep playing. Negative motivation is has a negative effect resulting from
losing.
The motivational factors of a performer are linked to socialising, aggression, excellence,
independence, power, stress and success. There are two ways to motivate a performer, intrinsic and
extrinsic motivation. There is a debate weather or not external reward undermine or enhance intrinsic
motives. The desire to win could be both intrinsic and extrinsic as a performer could be striving for
success to gain a sense of satisfaction or to achieve recognition, e.g. A footballer may be motivated by
financial rewards, but once they reach there financial rewards they still continue to train hard as there
is something inside of them that tells them they should keep training. A boxer may reach that
particular financial reward and still continue to box, not because of financial reasons but because they
want to do it for themselves. A top tennis player just needs to win one

Thin-Layer Chromatography Lab
Introduction Thin layer chromatography, also known as TLC, is a principle that describes how various
compounds travel multiple distances when placed as a thin layer on a plate. TLC is a technique that
can be used to determine how many components are in a mixture. TLC can also be used to determine a
specific compound in a mixture. After performing TLC, the retention factor (Rf) can be used to
determine a specific compound in a mixture. The retention factor (Rf) is During TLC, there is a step
called elution. In elution the components on the TLC plate will have different solubilities and different
adsorption strengths. The liquid at the bottom of the TLC chamber is called eluent. The purpose of this
experiment was to use TLC to separate and identify ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the solutions are placed to close together on the TLC plates, then is possible that after being place in
the TLC chamber, they will end up close together and it will be difficult to distinguish which spot

bottom of the TLC plate is parallel to the bottom of the jar in the TLC chamber. If it is not parallel,
then the solvent front will not develop properly and it will make determining the spots or comparing
the spots more difficult. The last way to improve this experiment would be to make sure that the .5%

Keynes’s Analysis of the Stock Market and Identifying the...
Keynes s analysis in Chapter 12 of the General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money suggests
that capitalism is inherently unstable due to its financial structure .
Discuss outlining Keynes s analysis of the stock market and identifying the related policy conclusions
he reaches.
In Chapter 12 of the General Theory of Employment, John Maynard Keynes focused on examining
the stock market and how it functions, in the sense of its structure and how it is affected by the
behavior of investors because he believed the behavior of the stock market affects the aggregate
demand, hence the rest of the economic system. He is most interested in the fluctuations of the rates of
investments in the stock market that consequently affect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keynes (1936, p155 56) describes the stock market using an analogy between professional investment
and newspaper beauty contest: Professional investment may be likened to those newspaper
competitions in which the competitors have to pick out the six prettiest faces from a hundred
photographs, the prize being awarded to the competitor whose choice most nearly corresponds to the
average preferences of the competitors as a whole...It is not a case of choosing those which, to the best
of one s judgment, are really the prettiest, nor even those which average opinion genuinely thinks the
prettiest. We have reached the third degree where we devote our intelligence to anticipating what
average opinion expects the average opinion to be. And there are some, I believe, who practice the
fourth, fifth, and higher degrees. The Stock Market decisions work based on conventional values too,
where each is not concerned with determining the real stock value, but the market value the
community will place on the stock, before everyone else does. Keynes observes some other features of
this situation within the stock market. This type of liquidity not only leads to future fluctuations in
physical asset investment, but also creates fluctuations of the daily profit on investments which further
influences the market. One of the key themes Keynes observes is that there is plenty of

Why Is a Solution to the Israel-Palestine Conflict so Hard...
Israeli Palestinian conflict could be described as a clash that between Israelis and Palestinian Arabs as
they attempted to compete the same piece of land briefly (Dowty 2008:1, 4). The reasons that prevent
a solution to the Israeli Palestinian problem will be discussed and will be divided into three parts,
Israeli reasons, Palestinian reasons and the common problem between two countries.
In terms of Palestinian reasons, there are three reasons, the United Nation General Assembly (UNGA)
Resolution 181, consequence that Israel was established in 1948 and settlement policy is enforced in
Palestinian territory by Israel.
For the UNGA Resolution 181, Israeli occupied more territory than Palestinians. In 1947, two state
solution was passed in UNGA, Palestine was divided into two states, one for Jewish and one for Arab
(El Hasan 2010: 55). However, Arabs occupied 43 45.5% of land in Palestine even the population of
Arabs in Palestine was 2/3 (Soderblom 2003). This was unfair to them. Besides, Jews claim that they
have sovereignty on Palestine as their ancestor have moved to Palestine and they maintain there is a
tie between Jews and Palestine for more than 3,700 years, so it is their historic homeland (Gans 2008:
101; Brown 2011: 139). In contrast, Palestinians argue that there were only 1/4 of Jews lived in
Palestine before 70 AD, this does not mean that Jews lived there can compete the land (Lorimer and
Malloy 2002: 7). Besides, Palestinian thought the UNGA Resolution 181

Essay about Flannery O Connor
Flannery O Connor
Mary Flannery O Connor was born in Savannah, Georgia, on March 25, 1925. Until she graduated in
1945 she was known as Mary Flannery. At this point she felt that Mary Flannery didnt seem suitable,
on one occasion she described it as sounding like the name of an Irish washerwoman. From this point
on, she was known as just Flannery OConnor. Flannery is most recognized for her short stories but at
the same time had great interest in cartooning and drawing. She would paint over any cracks in the
walls of her home so that her mother would not cover them up with paintings from relatives. As a
student at Georgia State College for women Flannery displayed her interests in art by painting murals

While living at this residence Flannery became sick with a incurable disease known as Lupus. After
coming to terms with her illness OConnor returned home to Geogia where she concentrated most of
her efforts on writing and less on cartooning. Wise Blood, her first novel, was finished in 1952, this
was an extraordinary achievement for her. Considering her belief that she would pass away in the
preceding 3 years, OConnor devoted most of her time to writing her short stories. After surprisingly
living to see the end of the third year Flannery had completed nine short stories.
Most of what is known about Flannery after she moved back to Georgia is relayed through her
correspondence with friends and people who admired her work. One person in particular who became
very close with Flannery was a fan who had developed a friendship and companionship over an eight
year period through the exchange of 250 letters. In 1979, Flannerys close friend Sally Fitzgerald

The Flow of the River, by Loren Eiseley Essay
When reflecting and writing on Eiseley s essay and the magical element , I balk. I think to myself,
What magic? , and then put pen to page. I dubiously choose a kiddie pool to draw inspiration from,
and unexpectedly, inspiration flows into me. As I sit here in this little 10x30 foot backyard, the sky is
filled with the flowing gaseous form of water, dark patches of moist earth speckle the yard, the plants
soak up their scattered watering, and the leaves of bushes and trees imbue the space with a sense of
dampness from their foliage. As my senses tune into the moisture that surrounds me, I fill Braedon s
artificial pond with water. I stare at the shimmering surface, contemplating Eiseley s narrative, and the

Of all the ways Eiseley imparts his impressions of water and the manner its magic impregnates the
world, the one not mentioned is the most intriguing to me. The way he was moved to write about
water because of its relationship to his past, is waters definitive magic. The concept of water was the
vehicle that transported his feelings to thoughts, and from thoughts to his narrative. He found
enchantment where others would have just found a mundane substance. He even writes, ...the
enormous mindlessness of space settles down upon the soul. There are others that would contend that
there is more magic in the cosmos than in water, but there is a resonance that is stirred in Eiseley, by
water s magic. When I sit and think about water, these are some sentiments that stream from me:
water, an oasis of cool relief for my throat, when sand dunes and wandering Bedouin nomads migrate
on the desert of my tongue; the last days of elementary school when the tease of a late spring swim
hints at the summer to come, and the time spent slipping the bonds of my corporeal existence, floating
in that ethereal substance; of the cool shade of broad leafed trees drawing water up to their verdant
canopy to their aquatic reservoir, sharing a respite from the unforgiving heat of an afternoon sun.
Water flows through most of my happiest

Anatomy And Physiology Research Paper
Anatomy and Physiology is the study of the human body. Anatomy is the study of the internal and
external structure of body parts. Physiology is the study of the function of those body parts. In an
anatomy and physiology course you will examine the body parts and the way that these body parts
function together to keep us alive. The definition of homeostasis is the means or ability to keep the
body stable in order to compensate for environmental changes. A really good example of homeostasis
is the body keeping the average temperature of 98.6 degrees. Homeostasis is important because cells
rely on the body to live and operate. Homeostasis keeps the body environment under control and

There are positive feedback mechanisms and negative feedback mechanisms. Positive feedback is a
closed system that occurs in a feedback loop and the response of the system relies on the feedback
system to function. A good example of this would be a blood clot. When a vessel is harmed, platelets
begin to stick to the harmed site and discharge chemicals that pull in more platelets. The platelets keep
on heaping up and discharge chemicals until a coagulation is formed and you now have a blood clot.
Negative feedback is a response that causes a decline in its function. It is a reaction to some kind of
stimulus. It usually causes the output of a system to lessen which in turn tends to stabilize the system.

Massage Therapy Essay
Massage Therapy is an alternative medicine practice that involves the use of different types of strokes
that are done with the hands, fingers, forearms, and elbows of a specially trained person. The strokes
are done to manipulate the soft tissues and muscles of one s body in an attempt to relax and relieve the
person from symptoms and disorders they may be experiencing. There are many different types of
massages that can be performed and some are better than others for relieving certain conditions. Some
common types of massage include the Swedish massage, the pregnancy massage, the geriatric

of massage therapy include Effleurage, which is a smooth gliding stroke used to relax the soft tissue.

Theme Of Choices In A Rose For Emily And Hills Like White...
In life, everyone has choices that can determine their future. There are always two choices in life, one
that will leave people not regretting their decision and another that will always make an individual
second guess the choice they made. Choices do not just happen to real people they can also happen to
characters in pieces of literature. In every story, short or long, the reader gets an understanding of the
characters and the situation(s) they are in. In A Rose for Emily and Hills like White Elephants the
characters in these stories the characters make decisions that change their lives. The author conveys
the theme of choices can take people s lives in different directions by using symbolism, imagery, and
oppression of women. Faulkner, the author of A Rose for Emily uses symbolism through the entire
story to help convey the theme. An example of symbolism would be Emily Garrison s house. The
house is a very old pre civil war house which during the time Emily s father was alive it was a very
nice and prestigious house. Her house helps the development of the theme by being a symbol for an
older generation. Emily Garrison is stuck in the past and does not want to accept that times have
changed and her house is a good representation of that. Her house never changes and it never does in
the story because Emily makes the choice to not go on with the times which helps allude to the theme.
In the story Hills like White Elephants by author also uses symbolism. The

Archetypes In The Breakfast Club
Do you ever wonder what people are really like and not just what they show on the outside? Yes, we
all do. This is because we never take the time to meet up with a person to understand more about
them. We meet our five characters at the beginning of the movie and they are all different. There is
Andy the athlete, Claire is a princess, Allison a basket case, Brian the brain, and John Bender the
criminal. But throughout the movie they learn more and more about each other and find that they all
have a lot of common problems and beliefs. In his film The Breakfast Club, John Hughes uses the Star
crossed lovers and loyal companions archetypes to reveal how we as humans fail to recognize how
trustful a person can be, because we let our differences control how we act and feel towards others and
their beliefs. At the beginning of the movie we see our characters arrive at their high school, as they
walk in they see they are a very diverse group. They are all upset that they have to be there, and would
much rather spend their saturday doing what they want to do. After they arrive, they start judging how
each other are acting to have to serve the detention. Some are trying to suck up, and others just flat out
don t care. But as you watch you see that Bender seems to have a little something for Claire, but it
seems that he doesn t want to say. This is hinting at a bit of the star crossed lovers, since Bender and
Claire s home lives are so drastically different based in the film. Then

Summary Of Delusional Thinking And Perceptual Disorder
In Delusional Thinking and Perceptual Disorder from the Journal of Individual Psychology, Brendan
A. Maher s key hypothesis that paranoid delusions are not, as previously thought, problems in
thinking and logic. Instead, paranoid delusions are brought about through perceptual problems,
revealing the flaws in labeling delusional people as crazy . Maher was a psychology professor at
Harvard University who dealt with psychopathology, especially with mental illness, like
schizophrenia. One of his works, Principles of Psychopathology: An Experimental Approach, was
reprinted countless times and was translated into several languages. Maher s status as a professor in a
distinguished university, framework for the developing and emerging discipline of psychopathology,
and heavily studied and reproduced works proves he is reliable source. Thus, the information and
commentary presented on May 1, 1974, in Delusional Thinking and Perceptual Disorder is reliable as
well. Maher uses others experiments and studies to formulate and discuss his hypothesis, rather than
doing his own.
In studying delusions, two research questions are to be asked. The first being why a patient has a
delusion, and the other being why the patients has this particular delusion. Maher s research method
included drawing upon Freud s analysis of the Schreber case, where Schreber became delusional after
experiencing thoughts of sexual intercourse in the role of a woman. Freud concluded that Schreber

Analysis Of The Poem Swells
In the first stanza of the poem, Swells, Ammons makes a connection between swell and memories.
Swell is the vehicle and is use as a way to describe the substance of a particular memory. Memory
plays a role as the tenor. The speaker believes there is a correlation in terms of the size of the Swell in
the ocean with the importance or impact of the memory; as the swell increase in size, so will the
memory significance. The stanza then goes on to create an image for readers with the words,
Information of actions summarized (surface peaks and dribbles. One possible reason the lines are
written in this way is because the words create an imagery of contours and functions of a human brain.
Certain sections the human brain can retain information and condense data into its most useful
aspects.
In stanza two, ambiguity is more prevalent. Although there are some elements of abstruse, Ammons
uses specific words in repetition to create a degree of complexity for the poem. Ammons uses words
such as summary , deeper , longer , and length to convey the point. I question why Ammons used
these words, in particular, summary and deeper because the overall second stanza conveys a message
of an idea or item of great importance. Summary and deeper contradicts that message because both
words contrast each other. Summary generally means a short version on main points of an idea or
event while deeper is a term people use to compare two objects or items. Although Ammons does not

Greek And Minoans
Two countries, located side by side in the Mediterranean sea. They share a similar climate, the

In the Balkans, the dish is layered and typically served hot. Many versions have a top layer made of

This sign foreshadows and symbolizes the exclusive nature of the upper class that Johnson describes
later in the film. He begins to make conversation with a woman who has a British accent. A study
done by Howard Giles with the department of Psychology at the University of Bristol, states Their
[Wallace Lambert and colleagues] work has shown that stereotyped impressions of an individual s
personality may be formulated by listeners when presented with a speaker s voice whose vocal
contours are representative of phonological patterns peculiar to specific group membership. (Giles)
Plainly, when people hear an accent, subconsciously they connect it with their previous experiences
involving people with that accent. Because the British are often known for their history of wealth,
power, monarchies, and luxurious culture, the average viewer of the documentary will subconsciously
and inherently connect the women s British accent to wealth and authority. At this point in the film,
upon hearing her voice the viewer will have a broad understanding of what the documentary is about
before even being presented the formal narration of Johnson s thesis. The spying concept, the
luxurious environment, and the audio of refined music and voice all come together as elements that
make this scene extensively persuasive.

determined not to let its struggles overcome them (Alan, 1). Originally written as a children s book

Jess is the character that comes from a poor background in a household that doesn t respect him
(Paterson, all). Leslie is the more kind character that influences Jess with her personality, even though
she does not believe in churchly teachings. May Bell believes that Leslie s beliefs will condemn her to

later create their own imaginary world to escape from reality, named Terabithia. One day, Jess wasn t
with Leslie, so she had to go to Terabithia alone, even though she was scared (Paterson, all). She died
attempting to enter Terabithia because the rope she was using snapped and she fell into the creek and

Joh John R. Wooden s Analysis
In the notes it describes communitas as a group of people sharing common cultural practices, values,
and/or identities (Bustad, lecture, 2017). This relates back to sport and physical activity because
although each individual player may live in different locations than another, when they come together
for this one sport and act as a team, they share the same values of the game. They also share the same
type of identity when playing on the same team or involved in the same physical activity as another
individual.
John R. Wooden was an American basketball player coach and teacher. He taught philosophy which
highly influenced his coaching style. Wooden created the Pyramid of Success, which took him
seventeen years to fully construct. The pyramid works as building blocks, each row acts as a
foundation for the one above it. Wooden s pyramid of success consists of: industriousness, friendship,
loyalty, cooperation and enthusiasm in the first row. The second row has: self control, alertness,

Figurative Language In The Yearling
Winning the Pulitzer Prize is like winning the Heisman Trophy. In that regard, Marjorie Kinnan
Rawlings is comparable to Nile Kinnick. Kinnick won the Heisman in 1939 for his hard work,
dedication, and ability to play football. Rawlings won the Pulitzer Prize in 1939 for her novel, The
Yearling, for her deliberate use of sensory details, figurative language, and artful syntax. The
appliance of sensory details throughout the novel enhance the story by depicting a vivid image of the
characters and their situations. On page 224, Rawlings describes the events of the morning of the
storm. The fawn came to Jody s bed and poked its muzzle against his face. The contrast of the wet,
cold nose and Jody s warm face simulate the change of the setting from calm and warm to story and
cold. Earlier in the story, Jody is once again sleeping, but this time on the river on page 6. There were
no black boles of live oaks, no glossy green of magnolia leaves, no pattern of gold lace where the sun
had sifted through the branches of the wild cherry. The sensory details of the fading reality epitomize
the dreamland that Jody is drifting off to. In addition to the sensory details, the asyndeton contributes
to the relatable feeling of thoughts turning to dreams as sleep takes over the mind. The most effective
use of sensory details occurs on page 224 as Jody wakes up the morning of the storm. The morning,
however, was clear, but the east was the color of blood. The distinct image of the sun

However, its current assets recorded a marginal increase of 25.07% from US$1,770.02 million at the end of FY2009 to US$2,213.72 million at the end of FY2010. Following this, the company s current ratio declined from 1.27 at the end of the FY2009 to 1.07 at the end of FY2010. A lower current ratio indicates that the company is in a weak financial position, and it may find it difficult to meet its day to day obligations. Opportunities: Global demand for coatings market The growing market for global coatings will certainly benefit the company. Market analysts expect the global coatings market to reach US$98.69 billion by 2015. • 15. Cost Allocation And Cost Management Cost Allocation Almost every single company that is in business faces a serious problem called cost allocation. Every company no matter what they sell or what service they provide faces the problem of allocating costs to defined cost objects. The cost allocation process is a very hard process for most. Cost allocation is a very complex and difficult procedure that requires the application of appropriate accounting procedures. These accounting methods sometimes will not provide objective and fair cost allocation because they have irrational bases that are not always reliable or appropriate. This is why accounting theory and practice steadily try to advance upon methods that are already in place and help develop new ones that could provide objective and fair cost allocation (Perčević Dražić, 2008). Cost allocation is a very crucial procedure for many companies not just production companies, but also in companies that provide service. Cost allocation has one purpose and that is to enable the determination of the cost of a product per unit in production companies and the cost of a provided service in service companies. Therefore, methods for cost allocation directly affect the service or product profitability assessment and at the same time sway segment and company profitability. The main problem is the choice of the cost allocation accounting approach. There are certain methods for cost allocation that do not apply the same to every company. If the method for ... Keynes s analysis in Chapter 12 of the General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money suggests that capitalism is inherently unstable due to its financial structure . Discuss outlining Keynes s analysis of the stock market and identifying the related policy conclusions he reaches. In Chapter 12 of the General Theory of Employment, John Maynard Keynes focused on examining the stock market and how it functions, in the sense of its structure and how it is affected by the behavior of investors because he believed the behavior of the stock market affects the aggregate demand, hence the rest of the economic system. He is most interested in the fluctuations of the rates of investments in the stock market that consequently affect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Keynes (1936, p155 56) describes the stock market using an analogy between professional investment and newspaper beauty contest: Professional investment may be likened to those newspaper competitions in which the competitors have to pick out the six prettiest faces from a hundred photographs, the prize being awarded to the competitor whose choice most nearly corresponds to the average preferences of the competitors as a whole...It is not a case of choosing those which, to the best of one s judgment, are really the prettiest, nor even those which average opinion genuinely thinks the prettiest. We have reached the third degree where we devote our intelligence to anticipating what average opinion expects the average opinion to be. And there are some, I believe, who practice the fourth, fifth, and higher degrees. The Stock Market decisions work based on conventional values too, where each is not concerned with determining the real stock value, but the market value the community will place on the stock, before everyone else does. Keynes observes some other features of this situation within the stock market. This type of liquidity not only leads to future fluctuations in physical asset investment, but also creates fluctuations of the daily profit on investments which further influences the market. One of the key themes Keynes observes is that there is plenty of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. Why Is a Solution to the Israel-Palestine Conflict so Hard... Israeli Palestinian conflict could be described as a clash that between Israelis and Palestinian Arabs as they attempted to compete the same piece of land briefly (Dowty 2008:1, 4). The reasons that prevent a solution to the Israeli Palestinian problem will be discussed and will be divided into three parts, Israeli reasons, Palestinian reasons and the common problem between two countries. In terms of Palestinian reasons, there are three reasons, the United Nation General Assembly (UNGA) Resolution 181, consequence that Israel was established in 1948 and settlement policy is enforced in Palestinian territory by Israel. For the UNGA Resolution 181, Israeli occupied more territory than Palestinians. In 1947, two state solution was passed in UNGA, Palestine was divided into two states, one for Jewish and one for Arab (El Hasan 2010: 55). However, Arabs occupied 43 45.5% of land in Palestine even the population of Arabs in Palestine was 2/3 (Soderblom 2003). This was unfair to them. Besides, Jews claim that they have sovereignty on Palestine as their ancestor have moved to Palestine and they maintain there is a tie between Jews and Palestine for more than 3,700 years, so it is their historic homeland (Gans 2008: 101; Brown 2011: 139). In contrast, Palestinians argue that there were only 1/4 of Jews lived in Palestine before 70 AD, this does not mean that Jews lived there can compete the land (Lorimer and Malloy 2002: 7). I dubiously choose a kiddie pool to draw inspiration from, and unexpectedly, inspiration flows into me. As I sit here in this little 10x30 foot backyard, the sky is filled with the flowing gaseous form of water, dark patches of moist earth speckle the yard, the plants soak up their scattered watering, and the leaves of bushes and trees imbue the space with a sense of dampness from their foliage. The concept of water was the vehicle that transported his feelings to thoughts, and from thoughts to his narrative. He found enchantment where others would have just found a mundane substance. He even writes, ...the enormous mindlessness of space settles down upon the soul. There are others that would contend that there is more magic in the cosmos than in water, but there is a resonance that is stirred in Eiseley, by water s magic. The platelets keep on heaping up and discharge chemicals until a coagulation is formed and you now have a blood clot. Negative feedback is a response that causes a decline in its function. There are always two choices in life, one that will leave people not regretting their decision and another that will always make an individual second guess the choice they made. Choices do not just happen to real people they can also happen to characters in pieces of literature. In every story, short or long, the reader gets an understanding of the characters and the situation(s) they are in. In A Rose for Emily and Hills like White Elephants the characters in these stories the characters make decisions that change their lives. The author conveys the theme of choices can take people s lives in different directions by using symbolism, imagery, and oppression of women. Faulkner, the author of A Rose for Emily uses symbolism through the entire story to help convey the theme. An example of symbolism would be Emily Garrison s house. The house is a very old pre civil war house which during the time Emily s father was alive it was a very nice and prestigious house. Her house helps the development of the theme by being a symbol for an older generation. Emily Garrison is stuck in the past and does not want to accept that times have changed and her house is a good representation of that. Her house never changes and it never does in the story because Emily makes the choice to not go on with the times which helps allude to the theme. This is because we never take the time to meet up with a person to understand more about them. We meet our five characters at the beginning of the movie and they are all different. There is Andy the athlete, Claire is a princess, Allison a basket case, Brian the brain, and John Bender the criminal. But throughout the movie they learn more and more about each other and find that they all have a lot of common problems and beliefs. In his film The Breakfast Club, John Hughes uses the Star crossed lovers and loyal companions archetypes to reveal how we as humans fail to recognize how trustful a person can be, because we let our differences control how we act and feel towards others and their beliefs. At the beginning of the movie we see our characters arrive at their high school, as they walk in they see they are a very diverse group. They are all upset that they have to be there, and would much rather spend their saturday doing what they want to do. After they arrive, they start judging how each other are acting to have to serve the detention. Some are trying to suck up, and others just flat out don t care. Maher was a psychology professor at Harvard University who dealt with psychopathology, especially with mental illness, like schizophrenia. One of his works, Principles of Psychopathology: An Experimental Approach, was reprinted countless times and was translated into several languages. Maher s status as a professor in a distinguished university, framework for the developing and emerging discipline of psychopathology, and heavily studied and reproduced works proves he is reliable source. Thus, the information and commentary presented on May 1, 1974, in Delusional Thinking and Perceptual Disorder is reliable as well. Maher uses others experiments and studies to formulate and discuss his hypothesis, rather than doing his own. In studying delusions, two research questions are to be asked. The first being why a patient has a delusion, and the other being why the patients has this particular delusion. Swell is the vehicle and is use as a way to describe the substance of a particular memory. Memory plays a role as the tenor. The speaker believes there is a correlation in terms of the size of the Swell in the ocean with the importance or impact of the memory; as the swell increase in size, so will the memory significance. The stanza then goes on to create an image for readers with the words, Information of actions summarized (surface peaks and dribbles. One possible reason the lines are written in this way is because the words create an imagery of contours and functions of a human brain. Certain sections the human brain can retain information and condense data into its most useful aspects. In stanza two, ambiguity is more prevalent. Although there are some elements of abstruse, Ammons uses specific words in repetition to create a degree of complexity for the poem. Ammons uses words such as summary , deeper , longer , and length to convey the point. I question why Ammons used these words, in particular, summary and deeper because the overall second stanza conveys a message of an idea or item of great importance. Summary and deeper contradicts that message because both words contrast each other. Summary generally means a short version on main points of an idea or event while deeper is a term people use to compare two objects or items. Although Ammons does not in any ...
