The Dark Age As The Golden Age
The Middle Ages were filled with advancements and drawbacks for Europe. Seljuk Turks invaded
Europe tearing it apart and breaking it down, leading society to become weak and scared.
Nevertheless, attempts were made by many to fight against these rough times. The plague was a large
factor in the weakening of Europe, due to the decrease of population that resulted from it. The
misfortunes occurring in this time lead many people to believe that it was a Dark Age, on the contrary
Europe proved to be stable throughout the invasions and hardships making it more of a Golden Age.
Although invasions leading to decrease of trade took place, the era between 500 to 1400 should be
considered as the Golden Age, because of social achievements relating to philosophy, poetry, and
architecture and a strong, organized government. Despite the murderous and treacherous aura of
Europe, social advancements were able to transpire. The medieval time period thrived in the midst of
threatening events. In his book The Medieval Period, Gray C. Boyce stated that even through difficult
hardships, Europe was able to sustain itself (Document 6). Although outside forces restricted Europe
to grow, barriers were overcome and creativity filled this time period. Additionally, Europe was able to
flourish and bring forth many advancements as H.C Davis said (Document 7). Davis claims can be

A Career as a Medical Assistant Essay
My chosen degree program is Associates of Applied Science in Medical Assisting at Kaplan
University. I am currently a online student. I have been doing some research of my program and I
have came up with a lot of very interesting facts. First the median salary for a Medical Assistant is
$28,860 per year that is about $13.87 a hour, that was in May 2010. There could be opportunities it
maybe higher, For example, the experience you may have, or the facility you are working in, and even
the level of the education that you have (/www. .bls.gov/ooh/healthcare/medical assistants.htm). From
my online research I have noticed there is a high demand for Medical Assistant mostly everywhere.

assistant) Just to name a couple. This certification is a state test that you can take after you finish the
medical assistant program. Some of the other things employers like you to have is CPR training,
Bloodborne Pathogens, and know how to draw blood. I took the CMA exam once and did not pass it, I
was not as ready as I thought I was but within a couple months I will take the test again and I think I
will do better. I think Kaplan is going to play a good role in my doing well because they will help me
learn all the things I need to know so I can go out and be a wonderful medical assistant. The job
outlook for a medical assistant is that employment for medical assistants is projected to increase 31%
by 2020. The baby boom, the increase of people getting sick, the major medical problems that people
are developing there is going to be more clinics opening, group practices, etc. The result is that more

Why Did Japan Attack Australia
Intro Not long before 10:00am, on February 19, 1942 the Japanese forces commenced air raids on
Darwin. Over 260 enemy planes attacked Australian and US shipping, the harbour of the town,
military and civil aerodromes and the local hospital. There were two waves of attacks which were part
of Japan s efforts to harm Australia s confidence, hold back the use of Darwin s military base, and at
last secure neighbouring Timor. At least 243 people were killed in the attack and up to 400 people
were injured. Eight ships in the harbour were sunk and twenty military aircraft were destroyed. Over a
space of almost two years the air attacks continued and about half of Darwin s population ended up
moving south. Why did Japan bomb Australia? Japan invaded ... Show more content on

During World War Two, the Japanese flew 64 raids on Darwin and 33 raids on further targets in
Northern Australia. On 19 February 1942, with a harbour full of Allied ships, Darwin was shot against
by 188 Japanese planes. Since Pearl Harbour on 7 December 1941 this was the largest Japanese attack.
In Darwin there were 27 Allied ships in the harbour and around 30 aircraft at the Darwin Civil and
RAAF airfields. The first Japanese attack on Darwin occurred on the 19th of February 1942. This first
attack (and the one that occurs the next day) was planned and controlled by Mitsuo Fuchida, who is
the Japanese commander also responsible the Pearl Harbour attack. The Japanese attacked with around
188 planes that were launched from Japanese land bases and aircraft carriers in the Timor Sea. The
Japanese fighters attacked land targets and shipping, dive bombers attacked the ships in the harbour,
the military and civilian aerodromes and the hospital. Fighter planes accompanied the dive bombers
for extra protection from Australian and allied planes. Eight Australian ships were sunk and nearly all
others were ruined by bombs or machine gunfire. Australia s only air defences were ten fighter planes
that encountered the Japanese planes. Only one Australia fighter survived the first attack, while the
Japanese only suffered one or two losses. An hour after the first attack ended, the second attack began.
For about 25 minutes heavy bombers attacked the Royal Australian Air Force Base at Parap. A
minimum of 243 Australians and allies were killed in the two raids and around 400 were wounded.
Twenty military aircraft were destroyed, most civil and military facilities in Darwin were destroyed
and eight ships at anchor in the harbour were sunk. (Australian Government ,

What Makes The Human Imagination In Alien
Alien is truly amazing from beginning to end as the hands on effort and imagination of Ridley Scott is
stunning, even in this day and age of special effects and CGI. The designs of Giger are wildly
indigenous and memorable and the editing by Terry Rawlings was the best thing I seen for a 1979
movie, making for a perfect storm of a horror flick. No one who has seen Alien will ever forget the
dinner scene, one of the most dramatic even to be shown to a thoughtless viewer. Even the actors were
unaware of what was coming down, maximizing the effect of the event.
Film monsters can never get any scarier than the Alien. It is almost always dangerous to project an
absolute about anything, but as far as I am concerned, everyone else can just flush their so called
monsters down the sewer. There just can t be anything in reality or the human imagination that can top
this creature that we barely get to see during most of this film. The metaphorically rich design of this
growl, biting, chomping, gut and head banging nightmare is terrifying.
If you think the Predator had a bad attitude, you will not believe the hostility that the Alien carries
around. The Predator, as tough as he was being about the same as the Pillsbury Doughboy when
compared to the Alien. Ash said it the best with his wise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

with using normal objects and hands on awareness to detail make this film what it is. The resemblance
of the Alien monster is a feat that will probably never be the same. As far as violence goes, violent

The Ford Company and Pinto Case
1. What moral issues does the Pinto case raise?
The moral issues raised by Pinto case are the life of a man can be paid off with the money. Ford
Company should not only concern about their benefits and disregard the human life. In order to
perform cost benefit analysis, all costs and benefits must be expressed in the common measure. This
measure is typically in money, as Ford Company used it in its analysis. Ford Company believes that
everyone has certain price in their life. Therefore, they believe that they are able to compensate for a
human life if any accident happens. But, Ford Company has forgotten that there are numerous things
which are priceless in the world just like the life of a man.
We can never measure the man s life with price since a human life is priceless. Ford thought they
could get away with a dangerous automobile by paying off those lawsuits from people who were
injured and the families of dead. Ford thought that it was more cost effective to compensate the people
who get injury and dead in accidents rather than improve the gas tank of the car. Ford seemed to
follow the calculation blindly without giving any extra consideration for quantifying human life.
Everyone has the rights to have a safe product to be consumed. Ford should not focus on their own
profit and jeopardize the wellbeing of other people.
Besides that, the moral issues are raised due to the ignorance of the Ford employee for not coming out
to reveal the actual problem faced by the

The Evolution Of Tetra Pods
It is often debated which species share common ancestors, in particular, how closely related
amphibians, mammals and osteichthyes are. The evolution of tetra pods, or four legged animals, from
aquatic animals such as fish can be traced back 365 million years ago to the Devonian, 408 360, mya,
and evidence shows that this evolution was divergent in nature (Freeman, S. 2011; Myer, A and
Zardoya, R. 2004). Divergent evolution, also sometimes termed adaptive radiation, occurs over many
geological times and gives rise to a number of new species that all occupy different habitats and show
characteristics that assist in survival and reproduction under their natural selection pressures (Kinear,
J.F. 2000). Variations in these essential survival ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2011). Different organisms can evolve in similar ways even if they are not similar by descent from a
common ancestor and this is known as homoplasy (Hawks, J. 2005). Classification of animals is an
important field of biology, as new knowledge about genetics, anatomy and evolutionary relationships
often leads to new thoughts on how different groups of organisms are related. In the biological
systems of classification, all organisms are divided and classed into increasingly specific groups,
starting with the kingdom, and finally being classed down to their genus and species (Huxley, L;
Watter, M. 2005). Animals are either vertebrates or invertebrates, and this determines what phyla they
belong to. All vertebrates, for example are all classed under the chordate phylum, meaning that they
all evolved from an ancestor that had a notochord along the back (dorsal) side. Mammals, fish,
reptiles, amphibians and birds are all chordates. Studies on vertebrates have revealed that progressive
evolutionary adaptations, such as improved respiration, efficient reproduction and paired muscular
appendages enabled the vertebrates to survive in a wider range of habitats and on land. The
development of the earliest vertebrates and the transition from

Famous for supporting the blacks, despite the tension between the two ethnicities and the majority
attitude of the whites opposing the boycott. Their lives were at total risk, from ostracism to threats on
their loves.
INTERVIEWER: Mr and Mrs Herbert, can you please tell us why you chose to be involved in the
Boycott?
SARAH HERBERT: Well firstly, ethnicity didn t matter to me and my late husband, Woodson. We
both opposed the Jim Crow Laws, which had stood for 79 years since 1876. We both truly wanted
equality for those Negros, especially as we had ones close to us, e.g our house maids. We didn t
understand why even when they were paying the same amount as us whites to ride on the buses that
they had to get off the bus, enter through the rear exit and sit at the back. They deserved to have equal
access to any part of the bus they wanted. It just seemed bizarre and it made them look inferior.
During the boycott, when the community taxi effort by the 18 negro owned bus companies in
Montgomery was halted by the council for it s too low fares of 10¢ instead of the usual 45¢, the blacks
began their own carpooling initiative to help each other get around. There were around 300 cars used
at the time for this task, and I decided along with my neighbour and a few other of my white friends

An Epidemic in the Government was the The American...
Government is a branch or service of the supreme authority of a state or nation, taken as representing
the whole. The government was a system that was ordained by God in order to maintain liberties that
God has granted us and also punish those who disobey God commands. One of the roles given to the
government is to promote economic progress by protecting the rights of individuals and allowing for
the free market economy of the laws of supply and demand to free take place. One epidemic that has
surfaced over the years would be the The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012. The law allows for
many of the Bush tax cuts to retain while those who have a higher income are taxed at a higher rate.
One of the major problems that this act of legislation causes economically is an unequal taxation of
different groups based on their income. Those who make $400,000+ are taxed a rate of 39.6% of their
total income. (H.R 8, 112th Congress) This does not incorporate sales tax and property taxes that are
also taken each year as well. In the book Economics in One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt, one topic that is
discussed is how taxes discourages production. In the case of The American Taxpayer Relief Act of
2012, those who are of working class category will not see a change in their tax rates. This is great
since the monetary funds that they do not pay in taxes they can either invest or use in the market.
However, the taxes for those who are of upper class status have the burden. As Hazlitt

Furthermore, what basis, if any, is there for expecting AtlanticRoyal s combined linerboard and box

As we know, Atlantic Corporation was considered as one of the nation s largest forest products
producer, its operations in the linerboard industry have not been strong. Hence, if Atlantic purchased
Royal s Monticello mill, it would increase its profit margin greatly. Additionally, it was expected that
1984 would be a healthy year for this industry, the chances got higher again that Atlantic could
position well in the overall industry.
2. Is the price of $319 million reasonable for the Monticello Mill and Box Plants based on a cash
flow analysis? Assume cash flows consistent with Table A, Table B and Exhibit 3, a discount rate of
13%, and a terminal value equal to the book value of assets in1993.
Since this case deals with the purchase of cash flow generating assets, we will conduct a cash flow

Franz Kafka an Artis Hungry for Pride
In Franz Kafka s short story, A Hunger Artist , Kafka introduces an eccentric man known as the
Hunger Artist. The Hunger Artist has committed his entire life to the art of fasting, allowing himself to
be caged and displayed to the public as if he were a painting (Kafka 198). Despite all the emotional
turmoil he endures, he takes a great amount of pride in fasting and believes that he can fast for
extremely elongated periods (Kafka 200). Unfortunately, his pride not only causes internal conflicts
but also tragically leads to his unfortunate demise (Kafka 205). Through the setting and the character
development of the Hunger Artist, Kafka illuminates the dangers of self pride and depicts pride as
harmful and detrimental to one s existence. Kafka utilizes the setting to show how the Hunger Artist is
prideful and how this pride creates nothing but self inflicted harm. Throughout the story, the Hunger
Artist is always present in the confinements of a barred cage (Kafka 198). The cage separates him
from the rest of society and allows him to show that because he is locked away he cannot possibly
obtain any food that can disrupt his fasting. This physical barrier shows how the Hunger Artist wants
to make it obvious that there is no possible way for him to search for food. He is pleased to know that
he can restrict himself from such things. Within the cage, there is little furniture and décor. Only the
striking of the clock exists in the cage to allow the Hunger Artist a sense of

The Chair Of Reniseneb
On display in The Metropolitan Museum is the Chair of Reniseneb, which was constructed in 1450
B.C. in Egypt during the New Kingdom period. The Chair of Reniseneb is a wooden chair veneered
with ebony, a heavy dark brown timber, and ivory, a hard creamy white substance. The chair is made
up of small pieces of wood that is pieced together almost like a puzzle. Egyptian trees did not grow

Egyptian carpenters became really adapt in inlaid work made from small pieces of variously colored

chair sits higher on beaded blocks. The legs of the furniture were often carved in the form of animal
legs or the hind parts of some animal such as the lion. Therefore, the foot of the Chair of Reniseneb is
shaped as an animal paw and the legs of the chair are shaped similar to an animals leg. Both the legs

The Death Penalty Is A Form Of Execution
I. Introduction
The death penalty is a form of execution used in the United States. The federal death penalty can be
used in any state or territory of the U.S. even in states that do not have it. There are currently 32 states
including North Carolina that have the death penalty. Its purpose was to deter crime from happening.
Therefore, creating a safer environment. Unfortunately this has not been the case. The death penalty
has claimed innocent lives, ruined lives, is issued at random unfairly, and does not decrease the crime
rate. It should be abolished by all states because it does not work.
II. History Britain influenced America s use of the death penalty more than any other country. When
European settlers came to the new world (now the United States). They brought capital punishment.
The first recorded execution in the new colonies was that of Captain George Kendall in the Jamestown
colony of Virginia in 1608. He was killed for being a spy for Spain. Death penalty laws were different
from colony to colony. It was Cesare Beccaria s 1767 essay On Crimes and Punishment that had a
strong impact throughout the world on the justification for the state s taking of a life1. The first
attempt to reform the death penalty in the U.S. occurred when Thomas Jefferson introduced a bill to
revise Virginia s death penalty laws. The bill proposed that capital punishment be used only for crimes
of murder and treason. It was defeated by only one vote1. In 1946, Michigan was

Gwenhwyfar, Arthur s Queen, is an overly pious, fearful woman who successfully sways her husband,
Arthur, into betraying his allegiance to Avalon. Arthur s incredible love for Gwenyfar is confusing at
times because there is no real development of their relationship. Arthur just seems to have fallen
deeply in love with a woman who s stupidity is infuriating. However, Arthur is not the only one who is
madly in love with Gwenyfar; Arthur s best friend Lancelet is as well. Igraine see s this in the
beginning and tries to undo the arrangement of her marriage to Arthur, but it could not be stopped.
Gwenyfar returns the love to Lancelet and the reader somehow manages to feel compassion for the
poor woman locked in a triangle of despair. The reader grows to hate Gwenyfar as she is the ultimate
rock in the bottom of Morgaine s shoe. The Mists of Avalon depicts Gwenhwyfar as a blind cultist,
rather than the wise and loving queen.

2008 Recession Research Paper
Wall Street is the great and powerful financial district of the world. With that statement being true
Wall Street isn t perfect. Wall Street has faced many problems throughout its existence as recessions
and depressions came into play and single handedly pushed America into a financial crisis. As early as
1929 till as recent as 2008 recessions still occur and throughout the existence of Wall Street they will
never stop existing. The argument of whether or not a recession could be predicted is a topic that
many have different views on, some say yes and some no, this argument will never simply go away as
recession will still occur in the future. It is just a matter of opinion. Although Wall Street has been
known as something great and something this country relies on and takes great pride in, Wall Street
isn t actually an unstoppable force. When a recession occurs many people fail to realize that there are
causes of a recession and as much as they would like to admit that they aren t part of that cause, they
actually are. There are many causes of a recession or depression ranging from horrible investments
from big corporations to uncontrollable spending from each individual. While corporations and banks
play essential roles in causing recessions and depressions, individual s economic behaviors also cause
recessions and depressions to deepen and lengthen. When discussing the difference about a recession
and a depression many people tend to think that both terms mean the same

training sessions for troops of the Vietnam War. The poem expresses the harsh conditions as well as
the dehumanisation of the soldiers. The poem was written in 1970 while Dawe was part of the RAAF.
Bruce Dawe uses a variation of language and poetic features to express his opinion and point of view
of the Vietnam War. All of the features which Dawe uses contribute to his representation of Australia
during the war.
Weapons Training is a monologue about the harsh and dehumanising conditions of the training session
for the soldiers. During the poem, Dawe uses a variety of crude words, insults and Australian slang to
show the dehumanisation and attitude the soldiers had to endure. Dawe uses both crude words and
insult to humiliate both Australian and Vietnamese soldiers. He uses phrases such as unsightly fat and
are you queer to insult Australian soldiers and little yellows and rotten fish sauce breath to insult the
Vietnamese. The slang that Dawe uses is able to show a representation of Australian culture, the slang
is old crown jewels, tripe s and copped the bloody lot. Using these words, the poet is able to show that
the culture is strong even during war. All the words that Dawe uses is a way of degrading the soldiers.

The National Security Agency Invasion
Living in a country that is known to be Land of the free... is not exactly what most people dream of.
The United States may be known for its freedom and power, but most people are unaware of the
covertness behind the government. And by now, almost every American citizen knows that privacy no
longer exists. In this century and country, it really does not. In the United States, most people look
toward the government as salvation, protection, and reliance. Unfortunately, not everything is as good
as it seems. Imagine your personal information, your daily conversations, and your daily actions being
viewed and judged by the government. This is exactly what the government does. Sometimes the
government is not always our solution; they can also be our problems.
National Security Agency (NSA) is also known as the President s Surveillance Program . It was first
implemented after the Twin Towers attack on September 11, 2001 by President George W. Bush. Soon
after, more surveillance programs sprouted in order to assist the National Security Agency. Some
surveillance programs include the FBI, IRS, Terrorist Scanning Center (TSC), Department of Defense
(DoD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), etc. All of these surveillance programs s main
purpose is to conduct a range of surveillance activities inside the United States in search for terrorists.
These surveillance activities required much information such as call histories, data records and other
personal information. This daily

Assault Rifle Research Paper
Assault Rifles It is argued whether the phrase assault rifle, which came in the American lexicon
around the 1980 s,first originated as political ploy by firearm control advocates or as a marketing ploy
by firearm retailers. What is for sure is that assault weapon is not a technical term, it was a phrase of
art used by gun manufactures, or for the army. The nearest in those groups is the phrase assault rifle
which is a military medium caliber, fired at the shoulder the shooter is allowed to select between semi
automatic which shoots one bullet per pull of the trigger and the other option is fully automatic which
continues to fire bullets while the trigger is being pressed and there is a three shot fire also and it

Genius and Madness in Christopher Smart’s My Cat Jeoffry...
Genius and Madness in Christopher Smart s My Cat Jeoffry
A series of verses commencing with the word for , Christopher Smart s My Cat Jeoffry is surprisingly
modernistic and intriguing. Written while Smart was confined in a mental asylum for incessant
praying, the aphoristic poem praises the cat Jeoffry, a faithful servant to God. Unrestricted by rigid
poetic structures, My Cat Jeoffry is nevertheless organized and coherent, ablaze with a current of
religious fervour. It is impossible to know if the poem was inspired by genius or by madness, but it is
infused with sanity and truth. While the poem is about a cat s devotion to God through its daily
actions, Smart s My Cat Jeoffry also serves as a lesson to humankind. ... Show more content on

Is Smart perhaps inserting his characteristic wit into My Cat Jeoffry and alluding to John Wesley s
(1703 1791) dictum cleanliness is next to godliness ?
Superior to other animals due to the dexterity of his movements (40, 71), Jeoffry is able to serve God
asleep and awake, as emphasized in Smart s parallel lines For there is nothing sweeter than his peace
when at rest./For there is nothing brisker than his life when in motion (44 45). Jeoffry s abilities to
influence those around him is also brought into light in the parallel lines For he is hated by the
hypocrite and miser./For the former is afraid of detection./For the latter refuses the charge (57 59).
Jeoffry, even when his day s work is done (23), continues to work in God s grace by keeping the Devil
at bay with his electrical skin glaring eyes (25). This use of diction seems absurd, and one wonders if
Smart is not fooling his audience all along. Echoing William Blake s The Tiger and his Four Fold
Vision by the vivid descriptions of his Angel Tiger (29), Smart hints that there exist multiple layers in
My Cat Jeoffry . Without a doubt, Jeoffry s life can be paralleled to that of humankind. However, what
kind of person does Smart speak of? Is Smart truly praising those who are devoted to God, or is he
criticizing those who are over zealous in their devotions?
Given the knowledge of Smart s background,

Why Do We Need International Criminal Court
Do we need an international criminal court ? The International Criminal Court (ICC), governed by the
Rome Statute, is the first interminable, treaty based, international criminal court established to help
end exemptions for the perpetrators of the most serious and heinous crimes of concern to the
international community. The ICC was mandated in July of 1998 but was bought into force by July of
2002.1 The Rome Statute is a mutual treaty which serves as the ICC s foundational and leading
document. States which become party to the Rome Statute, for example by passing it, become member
states of the ICC. Currently, there are 122 states which are party to the Rome Statute and as a result
are members of the ICC.2 The creation of the International Criminal Court is a global response to the
extreme mayhem perpetrated in the last century. Unfortunately, in all too many cases, terrible crimes
went unpunished and a alleged culture of impunity protected the perpetrators. National courts often
did not investigate the crimes adequately, or at all. The International criminal court was established at
the Paris Peace Conference Following the First World War, because some of the most heinous crimes
were committed during the conflicts which marked the twentieth century.3 Unfortunately, many of
these violations of international law have remained unpunished and the role of the International
criminal court was to bring past and future dreadful crimes to trial and to be punished, and

The Tensions Of The Cold War And The Second World War
The two World Wars had brought detrimental effects to countries involved in the wars. Not only was
landmarks and buildings destroyed, but the World Wars also brought fear and insecurity within the
world. Tensions of the Cold War could be linked to before the World War I, where the ideology of
supreme power and maintaining control over another has been present for a long time. World War I
leads to the World War II, as allies rise to power to unstable Germany and his political party. The
Second World War was even more devastating and unstable, instilling greater fear and insecurity
within countries, especially on those with the lesser power. Many thought that with the defeat of
Germany, peace and unity would eventually keep up. However, insecurity has built up over time,
causing even allies to have insecurity with one another, which eventually lead to the Cold War. The
United States and the USSR were allies during the Second World War, but had been wary of one
another. This resulted in the Cold War, whereby each worshipped their nuclear weapons, increasing
their defense, in order to maintain the balance of power. The nuclear arms race during the Cold War
truly reflected the value of the security dilemma, and the distortion of the balance of power, which
could trigger war.
The strategy of block and balance in terms of alliance formation and alliance denial could be drawn as
a method of prevention. Major powers could form alliance in order to wage war with the rising power,

Dhcp, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol ( Dhcp )
DHCP Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), allows a computer to join a network without a
statically assigned Internet Protocol (IP) address (Mitchell, n.d., para 1). With DHCP a device can be
assigned a unique IP address, as it joins the network (Mitchell, n.d., para 1). DHCP is done on a
server, and parameters are set on the pool of IP addresses that can be assigned (Mitchell, n.d., para 4).
In Server 2012 there are options to allow for fault tolerance for DHCP. The three options available
including, a failover cluster, setting up a split scope DHCP, and a DHCP failover (De Clercq, 2014). It
is recommended that Kris Corporation uses fault tolerance for DHCP. The recommended method of
fault tolerance is DHCP failover, which is new in Server 2012. This option can replicate a complete
DHCP scope to another DHCP server (De Clercq, 2014). When configuring there is an option to use a
hot standby or to do load sharing (De Clercq, 2014). Hot standby uses one server as the active DHCP
server, the second server is only used if the first DHCP server is not available (De Clercq, 2014). Load
sharing uses both DHCP server at the same time, and the request are shared between the two servers
(De Clercq, 2014). Load sharing is the default option, and the recommended option for Kris
Corporation. Kris Corporation is interested in tracking IP addresses of all of the devices on the
network. This can be done using IP address Management (IPAM) in Server 2012 ( What is

Green Computing And The Improvement Of Computing
the term green computing refers to the improvement of computing practices in a way that is
environmentally friendly. green computing started in1992 with the introduction of the Energy Star
program. This program awarded computer products that used a minimum energy and still operate at
maximizing efficiency.
Green computing Practices such as how you use, dispose and manufacture computers and computer
technologies are only becoming more relevant. As big companies are looking to keep their energy
usage and costs as low as possible investing and creating new technologies in green computing can
help make computers run more energy efficiently which in turn reduces environmental impact and
creates lower energy costs.

One way is to use a cache to place critical memory access it quickly and easily. As technology evolves
processors have improved and become even faster. The latency is greatly decreased but no matter how
fast a given processor can function, it is still limited to the rate of transfer allowed by the bottleneck.
In most cases, a faster processor only means that it will spend more time idling and will not be fully
utilised.
In a compiled implementation, the original program is translated or compiled into native machine
instructions. These instructions are then executed by the hardware directly.
In an interpreted implementation, the original program is translated into bytecode. Which is a set of

and executes the instructions that are called.
In Java implementation, there are two phases both a compilation and interpretation stage. These are
the compilation stage and the interpretation stage.
In the Compilation stage, a just in time compiler (a JIT) compiles the Java source code and transforms
it into bytecode.
In the Interpretation stage the Java interpreter also known as the Java virtual machine (JVM) converts
the bytecode binary code that is readable by the processor. The binary code is executed and the output

Europeans, and compare and contrast it to art encountered in primary source assignment 2. I will then

conclude by looking at the long term effects of Portuguese contact with Africa. When taken out of its
specific region, and time period, what can the Benin plaque the oba with Europeans tell us about its
people and culture? An effort to impress the King of Benin was a likely motivation for the production
of this work of art. His central placement and diminutive imprint of the Europeans was likely intended

Clical Reasoning as Described by Neistdadt
AccoIntroduction The aim of this essay is to explore the Clinical reasoning thinking frame as
described by Neistadt (1996). Clinical reasoning is a set of skill performed by occupational therapists
which are central to practice and involved throughout the Occupational therapy process (Neistadt,
1996, AOTA, 2008). This will be done in relation to our case study of which the protagonist is Hugh, a
70 year old widower and retired baker, who was managing well an episode of depression but has
recently been found apathetic, unwashed and in soiled clothes by the public mental health nurse, and
referred to see an occupational therapist.
Narrative Reasoning
The first element of this process we will discuss is narrative reasoning which concerns itself with the
construction and subsequent analysis of the client s occupational story (Neistadt, 1996, Duncan,
2006). This process is developed through allowing the client the opportunity to create a narrative
image through story telling, this can manifest itself in an adumbration of their life experience and how
it has been altered through disability, disease or transition (Duncan, 2006, Neistadt, 1996). The
importance for a practitioner to explore the client s narrative is not only in the development of their
story but it also gives the therapist insight into the person and a possible future for them (Higgs,
2008). The use of certain assessments can be particularly effective in the development of a client s
narrative, one of which being

The Healthsouth Corporation Inc.
INTRODUCTION The HealthSouth Corporation was started in 1984 by Richard Scrushy with hopes
of becoming one of the largest healthcare companies in the country. It was doing quite well by 1996
with a market value of nearly $12 billion and was one of the United States largest healthcare firms.
This all fell apart in 2003 when it was discovered that Scrushy and his employees had committed
fraud in the estimated range of almost $2.7 billion (Daigle, Louwers and Morris 887). Scrushy, over
the years, had brought on many new faces to the company. Many of these employees were friends of
Scrushy from previous business ventures and business meetings. These employees and the others
involved in the fraud were given the name family ; highly due to the fact that they all knew what was
happening and not one wanted to go to the authorities to confess. It was after the fraud had gone on for
nearly six years that the former CFO Weston Smith tipped off federal investigators.
Following the actions by Smith, the four other CFO s who ran the company during the fraud came
forward which included: Aaron Beam Jr., Michael Martin, Malcom McVay, and then current CFO
William Owens. Along with the CFO s their staff members who were also in on the fraud also came
forward bringing the total number of involved to fifteen. Also the Birmingham Alabama office of
Ernst Young came under heavy scrutiny for auditing HealthSouth during the fraud and failing to take
action on any evidence they found.

Both Redgate Company and Apple Inc. have used motivation and understanding and managing work
teams in training their employees to become more productive and work efficiently. Although both of
the company choose the same topics, the method they used in motivation and managing work teams

a) Comparison in motivation
First of all, Redgate Company and Apple Inc. uses the method intrinsic motivation in motivating their

Who will implement the promotional events on the floor while those in the office run the numbers?
Would it be good idea to allow the guest to run the promotions themselves without someone to enforce
set rules and regulations? This is only one case of how the employees deal with the ridiculous
reasoning when superiors offer suggestions without visiting the floor to witness the day to day action.
In this way, driving their employees to feel unwanted in their position and leaving the job. The
absence of support prompts disappointment both from an employment angle and feeling just as if the
employees do not make a difference and will never be represented (Bouckenooghe, 2013).
Motivational elements to consider while examining casino work fulfillment and retention incorporate
that of support for advancing education and even staff improvement. Lack in opportunity or even the
capacity to better improve skills and extent of training is a factor in work fulfillment (Moen, 2015).
Because overwhelming calendars the employees do not have any time to seek educational fulfillment

that they do not decide to quit.

Agent Orange Dossier And The Vietnam War
The Vietnam War, lasting from 1955 1975, initially began as a civil war between North and South
Vietnam. The war eventually escalated into a foreign conflict involving multiple countries that backed
either region corresponding to their beliefs. The United States supported the democratic ideals of the
South and vigorously opposed the communist ideology of the North. They feared that if Vietnam fell
to communism, other countries would soon follow, according to the conception of the domino theory.
The United States predominantly influenced the war by sending roughly half a million military
personnel overseas. At first, American involvement received relatively positive reception. However, as
the war progressed, news of its horrific nature were revealed to the American public, which sparked
national outrage and formed anti war movements. One prominent group that participated in these
protests is a national veterans organization called Vietnam Veterans Against the Vietnam War. The
organization published a document titled Agent Orange Dossier containing a collection of newspaper
articles and photographs that focuses on the controversy surrounding the use of Agent Orange in
Vietnam. Agent Orange, a herbicide, was used extensively by the U.S. military in the Vietnam War to
destroy crop fields and vegetation. The herbicide contains dioxin, a chemical compound that poses
several health risks. These few issues made Agent Orange extremely controversial. The dossier seeks

Congressional Era Of Reconstruction During Post Civil War...
Failure is simply an opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.
Henry Ford. This was the Southern optimist s view of what the results of post Civil War
Reconstruction could be. Unfortunately, once the Congressional era of Reconstruction began, this
view was squandered under federal punishment of the South. This policy led to strained relations
between Congress and the ex Confederate states. The difference of opinion was over how harshly the
South should be punished for leaving the Union. The South wanted to be readmitted with as little
friction as possible, so they sided with the Democrats, like Robert E. Lee, and Moderate Republicans.

One explicit difference of policy was over the use of troops to put the South into military districts that
were under martial law and putting Northern Generals over Southern troops. As historian S. Chase
said in the Democratic National Committee of 1873 There should have been as little military
government as possible. This policy was even more harshly debated because these troops were there to
enforce a law that the Southerners were not ever able to vote on until they were forced to vote for it if
they wanted to rejoin the United States, which they had to do because they lost the Civil War. This
force, both physically and ideologically, seemed very out of place in a country that claimed to be the
land of the free, and even more out of place since it was a Democracy. This ideological difference
between Southerners and Congress has been a major point of contention in discussions about
Reconstruction policy since it was put into practice.
Another point of policy disagreement can be seen in how representation in the South would be
handled. In accordance with Congressional Reconstruction, certain classes of ex Confederates, such as
the class that Robert E. Lee was in, were excluded from being granted their suffrage . This was an
outrage to Southerners for two reasons. The first is that the certain classes being exempted from
regaining their suffrage were the highest part of the upper class and the people of high rank from the
ex Confederate

An example of an exercise used to assist clients is documenting daily events that bring on unwanted
actions. Adolescents suffering from depression are often asked to record thoughts on situations
happening is day to day life. When a situation happens that furthers or intensifies the clients unwanted
behavior, thoughts are recorded, this is to monitor and change specific behaviors and thoughts. By
reporting ones thoughts and feelings the individual can document what has happened, what thoughts
are happening, and what changes need to be made to improve the unwanted behavior. By continuing
to document feelings and thoughts of depression, the adolescent will be able to notice a change in their
own behavior; they will be able to realize that emotions are dictating how they react to certain events.
With the documenting process of cognitive restructuring, many individuals will be capable of
changing their own thought process for the better. Each session with the depressed adolescent should

cons Students always find ways to tease or bully others, regardless of what clothes are worn. Those
who wish to be particularly fashionable will want to own the same number of outfits regardless of
whether they are allowed to wear them to school or not, changing into them the minute that classes are
over. Parents often find some uniform items, e.g. jackets, very expensive compared to the rest of their
child s wardrobe, and complain they can never be worn outside the school environment.
pros
Uniform has practical benefits when students are outside the school building. Being readily identified
with a particular institution may make students more aware of their behaviour while travelling to and
from the school, leading them to act more considerately, e.g. to other passengers on buses or trains. On
organised trips away from the school it is much easier for teachers to ensure they haven t lost anyone
and to monitor behaviour, than if students wore their own clothes and blended in with the crowds.
cons
Uniform makes students very identifiable and emphasises the divisions between

Course Taking And Apparatus Set Up
Course taking and apparatus set up will be the first steps in this project. For safety measures, the
apparatus needs to be reinstalled under the fume hood. Basic pretreatment processes will be carried
out in order to prepare the biosorbents for adsorption. Aiming to check the reliability of the system
and find possible pitfalls, some preliminary tests will be run, and the results will be analyzed. Once
the reliability of the apparatus, repeatability of the process, and standard operating procedure are
determined, the next phase of the project will be commenced.
5.2 Phase 2
In this phase, the experiments will be focused on single component and binary systems. Firstly, pure
methane will be fed into the column and the adsorption process will be investigated. Afterwards, the
same experiments at similar conditions will be carried out using pure water vapor. Based on the result
of these experiments, a new set of experiments will be designed and carried out for binary systems
(Methane and water vapor). Equilibrium and kinetics will be studied. Dynamic studies will be
accomplished. Generally, the performance of Flax Shive and Oat Hulls in PSA process will be
determined.
5.3 Phase 3
To further investigate the adsorption process, various isotherms will be fitted on the experimental data.
Equilibrium capacity, uptake of species, diffusion constants, and selectivity will be calculated. Based
on these results, the nature of the adsorption process will be determined. Afterwards, a set

Abuse In 1984 And Red Army
In both 1984 and Red Army documentary there is a clear theme followed throughout. Abuse from a
higher power can occur at anytime both mental and physical. Abuse can cause great deals of pain on a
person persuading them to do opposite of the initial intentions. Physical abuse plays a huge roll in
1984 and Red Army documentary. Its back to the 1980 s where the novel takes place. Everyone is
forced to be the exact same as one another. The same clothing is worn, the same things are said, and
everything must be thought about exactly the same. If a brave should decide to disobey any of these
they will be tortured like poor Winston was. Winston was sent to the Ministry of Love to be made
sane. The party wanted him to believe 2+2=5 even though

Reflective Essay On Critical Thinking
Questioning and challenging my assumptions and attitudes about critical thinking is a new process for
me, but I do appreciate that to develop and enhance my assumptions and other mindsets it is an
important undertaking. Looking at what we hold to be true is an endeavor well trenched into us as we
evolved. The real value of critical thinking is that it s been at the root of all human progress
(Rabinowitz, 2015).
Being challenged on my thinking is difficult, but once I got through the difficulty I realized it was for
my betterment as a student and as a teacher. My prior experience as an undergraduate in early
childhood education with Bloom s focused mainly on the cognitive domain and thus I cannot recall
the affective or psychomotor domains being addressed. However, as I began to understand that the
committee identified three domains of educational activities or learning (Bloom, 1956 as cited by
Clark, 2015), I realized that I did have assumptions and that they were being challenged. First of all, I
did assume that Bloom s focus on cognitive development devalues the importance of other domains
and secondly that Bloom s Taxonomy is only used by educators in K 12 and college. Interestingly,
both have since been challenged and changed through my readings as it is important to note that the
most common usage of Bloom s Taxonomy focuses on cognitive learning skills rather than
psychomotor or affective skills, two domains that are crucial to the success of health

Dont Judge a Book by the Cover Essay
You Can t Tell
Many people feel that you can tell a lot about a person by observing what they wear and what they eat.
This is not the case. Choice of clothing and eating habits, in no way, allow you to pass judgment on a
person. Judging people based on these factors is extremely shallow. What one wears and eats in no
way depicts character, behavior, or even intelligence. One simply cannot know a person by looking at
them and observing what they eat. Such a thought is ridiculous.
Instead of looking at clothing and what one is eating, character should be the basis for opinion.
Judging a book by the cover only leads to surprises, and in this case, judging a human by dress can
lead to surprises as well. Just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wearing nice clothes and eating fancy food means nothing if the person behaves like a child. A person
wearing dirty clothes and eating out of the garbage may behave better. This is why prejudging people
can often wrong. A bum with good manners and behavior would be more pleasant to be around than a
rich, snob with no manners and horrible behavior. One cannot have a full outlook on an individual by
just viewing their dress and eating habits. Looking at someone s clothing or what is in their
refrigerator does not depict behavior.
By seeing what one wears and eats in no way allows you to know if the person is intelligent. Crazy as
it sounds, some bums are educated, smart people. These bums eating from garbage s may even carry a
conversation better than someone wearing a business suit and eating Red Lobster every night. An
intelligent person could simply choose not to care about dress. Not all smart people conform to what
society feels is appropriate. Some may choose to dress like bums simply because they don t care. It
doesn t mean they re any less smart or have less money. It could mean that such petty things do not get
to this person. To me this shows tremendous strength. Intelligence cannot be judged by observing one
s clothing and eating habits.

Male Gaze Sparknotes
Stacey, J. (1993) Star gazing: Hollywood cinema and female spectatorship. New York: Routledge.
The author, Jackie Stacey is a British feminist film historian. The main goal of her research is to
understand the specific pleasure and engagements of British cinema audiences in the 1940s and 1950s.
Stacey received 350 letters from women who went to the cinema 2 3 times a week during this period
of wartime as cinema going was at an all time high. Within the book, Stacey discusses Laura Mulvey s
Male Gaze and how Mulvey s analysis of the pleasures of Hollywood cinema led her to conclude that
the spectator position offered is a masculine one. She talks about how there are 3 looks within the
dominant mode of Hollywood cinema; the camera(man), the editor and the director. She emphasizes
on how all of these looks work together to create the effect of seeing the female characters as objects
of desire through the eyes of the male characters.
However, Stacey argues that women do not have to adopt the dominant masculine position offered by
the text in order to gain pleasure from looking at the female characters. Stacey describes Mulvey s
work as an attack on the visual pleasures of Hollywood cinema (page 24). She broadens her argument
to state the distance between spectator and screen contributes to the voyeuristic pleasure of ... Show

The Wonders Of The Canadian Government Essay
The Wonders Of The Canadian Government
Protection of life is NOT a legitimate use for a firearm in this country sir! Not! That is expressly ruled
out! Justice Minister Allan Rock, 1994. Guns are highly controlled in Canada for a reason, because if
they were not, where would Canada be now? Canada would be in anarchy as they slowly watch their
country slip into violence and on to its impending doom(Hyperbole). To think back on life, whether 19
years of age or 90 years of age, has there ever been a time where safety is found in holding a gun, or a
situation that felt a gun would have been necessary? To start off, Canadian citizens will feel safer
without guns because no one will have guns! Funny how that works now is it not? Firstly, a ... Show

Would Canadian citizens feel safer with the Trudeau government implementing these legislations in?
To be honest, they would, Justin made some very valid points and these did help him win a majority
government.
Lastly, if people feel unsafe with firearms they possess they can simply rid of them, when the right
time comes, through a Gun Amnesty Drive . This is where people can drop off a firearm that you
possess that is inherited or simply, no longer in usage. That means that people can use a gun amnesty
drive to drive away the worry of that weapon crashing into the wrong hands (Verbal Irony). Toronto
Police Inspector Chris Boddy feels that any time the Toronto police removes one gun out of a
neighbourhood, [it is] a good day, and [we have] a lot of good days . Due to Gun laws in Canada,
programs like the Gun Amnesty program in Toronto, and similar ones around the country are able to
happen, which gives the police a chance to get ahead against criminals and gangs. Do listen though,
the guns collected via these programs are not repurposed for the use of police officers, but are
destroyed, ridding of anyway for the guns collected to be brought out onto the street.
To bring this all into a smaller picture, because of the regulations set by the Trudeau government, and
because of the programs available to help destroy unwanted

Aliens Are Real Essay
Have you ever wondered if people actually got abducted by aliens? Will most people who say they got
abducted come back telling the exact same story as the other person who got abducted and those
people don t even know each other. This is super crazy to me because those people don t even know
each other. What are the odds people would tell the exact same story, unless they actually got
abducted. This proves that it wasn t a hoax and something actually did happen to these people. After
lots of research, I believe that aliens are real. There are too many galaxies and evidence out there that
shows that aliens have to be real. In this report I am going to explain more about aliens and my
opinion about it. Many people say aliens are real. There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most people think that aliens are not real. I asked 26 people and 15 of them said no, they do not
believe in aliens. This proves my point that most people do not believe in aliens. I think this because
no one has ever seen one so how are they suppose to believe it. Also, the picture you see on the
internet of aliens are likely photoshopped. You would think people that took the picture would take
more than one. Also, why are all of the picture so blurry. Another, reason people do not believe in
aliens because they are not in the bible. We have been researching for like hundreds of years and we
haven t found anything so how do we know that we will ever find anything. It is also unlikely people
have the habitat it takes to live like we do. How come all aliens look the exact same. Our universe is
over 100 billion years old why would other life wait for us. Life also needs a sable planet like earth to
live and that is super unlikely to find another one. God also specifically says that there is no other life
then us. All of these years that humans have been on earth you think they would of come by now. If
aliens are on earth, why haven t there been more pictures and videos. Like, the pictures people say
they took of aliens, why don t they take more than one. If you just saw a UFO you think they would
take more than 1 picture and video. All of this proves that aliens are not

Mouse To School
The book I chose is, If You Take A Mouse To School written by Laura Numeroff and illustrated by
Felicia Bond. If I were to use this book in a second grade classroom and be questioned about it by the
principle I would say that I am using it to teach the concept of cause and effect. Concept books are
great to use because there are so many benefits that can come out of them. In this book particularly it
would be a great simulant of discussion for the students, they can explore the different ideas within the
book and talk amongst each other about their own opinions. It is also is a great way to introduce the
lesson I am about to teach in a fun way that won t have the students dreading the assignment from the
beginning of class. The students will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I may ask if anyone had ever eaten to much candy or if anyone had tripped over something. Once the
students share their answers I will then ask them what happened once they ate to much candy or once
they tripped over something. Once everyone is done sharing I will introduce the topic of cause and
effect and explain to them using the previous examples what cause and effect is. For example, when
the students ate to much candy they got a tummy ache, the cause of the tummy ache was eating too
much candy and the effect of eating too much candy was a tummy ache, I will do the same thing and
use the example of tripping over something. Once they have a pretty good understanding of the
concept I will read the book to them. Once I am done reading the book the students and I will go back
through it and figure out all of the examples of cause and effect throughout the book. For example, in
the book it reads If you take a mouse to school, he ll ask you for your lunch box. When you give him
your lunchbox, he ll want a sandwich and a snack for later. After reading this the students and I would
discuss that the cause of the mouse wanting the lunch box was because he was going to school and
because he was given a lunch box he wanted to fill it with food for later and that was the effect the
mouse receiving the lunch box. Once the students understand this concept pretty well, they will break
into groups of two and create a short story of cause and effect using any animal they want. Just a
couple sentences of using cause and effect so that the teacher can check for their understanding.
Having them create their own story will help them to use their imagination, writing skills, and help
them to work with a

  • 2. The Dark Age As The Golden Age The Middle Ages were filled with advancements and drawbacks for Europe. Seljuk Turks invaded Europe tearing it apart and breaking it down, leading society to become weak and scared. Nevertheless, attempts were made by many to fight against these rough times. The plague was a large factor in the weakening of Europe, due to the decrease of population that resulted from it. The misfortunes occurring in this time lead many people to believe that it was a Dark Age, on the contrary Europe proved to be stable throughout the invasions and hardships making it more of a Golden Age. Although invasions leading to decrease of trade took place, the era between 500 to 1400 should be considered as the Golden Age, because of social achievements relating to philosophy, poetry, and architecture and a strong, organized government. Despite the murderous and treacherous aura of Europe, social advancements were able to transpire. The medieval time period thrived in the midst of threatening events. In his book The Medieval Period, Gray C. Boyce stated that even through difficult hardships, Europe was able to sustain itself (Document 6). Although outside forces restricted Europe to grow, barriers were overcome and creativity filled this time period. Additionally, Europe was able to flourish and bring forth many advancements as H.C Davis said (Document 7). Davis claims can be trusted, because of his expertise in the field, causing him to have no bias on the information. Since he was not directly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Why Did Japan Attack Australia Intro Not long before 10:00am, on February 19, 1942 the Japanese forces commenced air raids on Darwin. Over 260 enemy planes attacked Australian and US shipping, the harbour of the town, military and civil aerodromes and the local hospital. There were two waves of attacks which were part of Japan s efforts to harm Australia s confidence, hold back the use of Darwin s military base, and at last secure neighbouring Timor. At least 243 people were killed in the attack and up to 400 people were injured. Eight ships in the harbour were sunk and twenty military aircraft were destroyed. Over a space of almost two years the air attacks continued and about half of Darwin s population ended up moving south. Why did Japan bomb Australia? Japan invaded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During World War Two, the Japanese flew 64 raids on Darwin and 33 raids on further targets in Northern Australia. On 19 February 1942, with a harbour full of Allied ships, Darwin was shot against by 188 Japanese planes. Since Pearl Harbour on 7 December 1941 this was the largest Japanese attack. In Darwin there were 27 Allied ships in the harbour and around 30 aircraft at the Darwin Civil and RAAF airfields. The first Japanese attack on Darwin occurred on the 19th of February 1942. This first attack (and the one that occurs the next day) was planned and controlled by Mitsuo Fuchida, who is the Japanese commander also responsible the Pearl Harbour attack. The Japanese attacked with around 188 planes that were launched from Japanese land bases and aircraft carriers in the Timor Sea. The Japanese fighters attacked land targets and shipping, dive bombers attacked the ships in the harbour, the military and civilian aerodromes and the hospital. Fighter planes accompanied the dive bombers for extra protection from Australian and allied planes. Eight Australian ships were sunk and nearly all others were ruined by bombs or machine gunfire. Australia s only air defences were ten fighter planes that encountered the Japanese planes. Only one Australia fighter survived the first attack, while the Japanese only suffered one or two losses. An hour after the first attack ended, the second attack began. For about 25 minutes heavy bombers attacked the Royal Australian Air Force Base at Parap. A minimum of 243 Australians and allies were killed in the two raids and around 400 were wounded. Twenty military aircraft were destroyed, most civil and military facilities in Darwin were destroyed and eight ships at anchor in the harbour were sunk. (Australian Government , ... • 6. What Makes The Human Imagination In Alien Alien is truly amazing from beginning to end as the hands on effort and imagination of Ridley Scott is stunning, even in this day and age of special effects and CGI. The designs of Giger are wildly indigenous and memorable and the editing by Terry Rawlings was the best thing I seen for a 1979 movie, making for a perfect storm of a horror flick. No one who has seen Alien will ever forget the dinner scene, one of the most dramatic even to be shown to a thoughtless viewer. Even the actors were unaware of what was coming down, maximizing the effect of the event. Film monsters can never get any scarier than the Alien. It is almost always dangerous to project an absolute about anything, but as far as I am concerned, everyone else can just flush their so called monsters down the sewer. There just can t be anything in reality or the human imagination that can top this creature that we barely get to see during most of this film. The metaphorically rich design of this growl, biting, chomping, gut and head banging nightmare is terrifying. If you think the Predator had a bad attitude, you will not believe the hostility that the Alien carries around. The Predator, as tough as he was being about the same as the Pillsbury Doughboy when compared to the Alien. Ash said it the best with his wise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. The Ford Company and Pinto Case 1. What moral issues does the Pinto case raise? The moral issues raised by Pinto case are the life of a man can be paid off with the money. Ford Company should not only concern about their benefits and disregard the human life. In order to perform cost benefit analysis, all costs and benefits must be expressed in the common measure. This measure is typically in money, as Ford Company used it in its analysis. Ford Company believes that everyone has certain price in their life. Therefore, they believe that they are able to compensate for a human life if any accident happens. But, Ford Company has forgotten that there are numerous things which are priceless in the world just like the life of a man. We can never measure the man s life with price since a human life is priceless. Ford thought they could get away with a dangerous automobile by paying off those lawsuits from people who were injured and the families of dead. Ford thought that it was more cost effective to compensate the people who get injury and dead in accidents rather than improve the gas tank of the car. Ford seemed to follow the calculation blindly without giving any extra consideration for quantifying human life. Everyone has the rights to have a safe product to be consumed. Ford should not focus on their own profit and jeopardize the wellbeing of other people. Besides that, the moral issues are raised due to the ignorance of the Ford employee for not coming out to reveal the actual problem faced by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Evolution Of Tetra Pods It is often debated which species share common ancestors, in particular, how closely related amphibians, mammals and osteichthyes are. The evolution of tetra pods, or four legged animals, from aquatic animals such as fish can be traced back 365 million years ago to the Devonian, 408 360, mya, and evidence shows that this evolution was divergent in nature (Freeman, S. 2011; Myer, A and Zardoya, R. 2004). Divergent evolution, also sometimes termed adaptive radiation, occurs over many geological times and gives rise to a number of new species that all occupy different habitats and show characteristics that assist in survival and reproduction under their natural selection pressures (Kinear, J.F. 2000). Variations in these essential survival ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2011). Different organisms can evolve in similar ways even if they are not similar by descent from a common ancestor and this is known as homoplasy (Hawks, J. 2005). Classification of animals is an important field of biology, as new knowledge about genetics, anatomy and evolutionary relationships often leads to new thoughts on how different groups of organisms are related. In the biological systems of classification, all organisms are divided and classed into increasingly specific groups, starting with the kingdom, and finally being classed down to their genus and species (Huxley, L; Watter, M. 2005). Animals are either vertebrates or invertebrates, and this determines what phyla they belong to. All vertebrates, for example are all classed under the chordate phylum, meaning that they all evolved from an ancestor that had a notochord along the back (dorsal) side. Mammals, fish, reptiles, amphibians and birds are all chordates. Studies on vertebrates have revealed that progressive evolutionary adaptations, such as improved respiration, efficient reproduction and paired muscular appendages enabled the vertebrates to survive in a wider range of habitats and on land. Their lives were at total risk, from ostracism to threats on their loves. INTERVIEWER: Mr and Mrs Herbert, can you please tell us why you chose to be involved in the Boycott? SARAH HERBERT: Well firstly, ethnicity didn t matter to me and my late husband, Woodson. We both opposed the Jim Crow Laws, which had stood for 79 years since 1876. We both truly wanted equality for those Negros, especially as we had ones close to us, e.g our house maids. We didn t understand why even when they were paying the same amount as us whites to ride on the buses that they had to get off the bus, enter through the rear exit and sit at the back. They deserved to have equal access to any part of the bus they wanted. It just seemed bizarre and it made them look inferior. During the boycott, when the community taxi effort by the 18 negro owned bus companies in Montgomery was halted by the council for it s too low fares of 10¢ instead of the usual 45¢, the blacks began their own carpooling initiative to help each other get around. • 11. An Epidemic in the Government was the The American... Government is a branch or service of the supreme authority of a state or nation, taken as representing the whole. The government was a system that was ordained by God in order to maintain liberties that God has granted us and also punish those who disobey God commands. One of the roles given to the government is to promote economic progress by protecting the rights of individuals and allowing for the free market economy of the laws of supply and demand to free take place. One epidemic that has surfaced over the years would be the The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012. The law allows for many of the Bush tax cuts to retain while those who have a higher income are taxed at a higher rate. One of the major problems that this act of legislation causes economically is an unequal taxation of different groups based on their income. Those who make $400,000+ are taxed a rate of 39.6% of their total income. (H.R 8, 112th Congress) This does not incorporate sales tax and property taxes that are also taken each year as well. In the book Economics in One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt, one topic that is discussed is how taxes discourages production. In the case of The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012, those who are of working class category will not see a change in their tax rates. This is great since the monetary funds that they do not pay in taxes they can either invest or use in the market. However, the taxes for those who are of upper class status have the burden. Despite all the emotional turmoil he endures, he takes a great amount of pride in fasting and believes that he can fast for extremely elongated periods (Kafka 200). Unfortunately, his pride not only causes internal conflicts but also tragically leads to his unfortunate demise (Kafka 205). Through the setting and the character development of the Hunger Artist, Kafka illuminates the dangers of self pride and depicts pride as harmful and detrimental to one s existence. Kafka utilizes the setting to show how the Hunger Artist is prideful and how this pride creates nothing but self inflicted harm. Throughout the story, the Hunger Artist is always present in the confinements of a barred cage (Kafka 198). The cage separates him from the rest of society and allows him to show that because he is locked away he cannot possibly obtain any food that can disrupt his fasting. This physical barrier shows how the Hunger Artist wants to make it obvious that there is no possible way for him to search for food. He is pleased to know that he can restrict himself from such things. Within the cage, there is little furniture and décor. Only the striking of the clock exists in the cage to allow the Hunger Artist a sense of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The federal death penalty can be used in any state or territory of the U.S. even in states that do not have it. There are currently 32 states including North Carolina that have the death penalty. Its purpose was to deter crime from happening. Therefore, creating a safer environment. Unfortunately this has not been the case. The death penalty has claimed innocent lives, ruined lives, is issued at random unfairly, and does not decrease the crime rate. It should be abolished by all states because it does not work. II. History Britain influenced America s use of the death penalty more than any other country. When European settlers came to the new world (now the United States). They brought capital punishment. The first recorded execution in the new colonies was that of Captain George Kendall in the Jamestown colony of Virginia in 1608. He was killed for being a spy for Spain. Death penalty laws were different from colony to colony. It was Cesare Beccaria s 1767 essay On Crimes and Punishment that had a strong impact throughout the world on the justification for the state s taking of a life1. The first attempt to reform the death penalty in the U.S. occurred when Thomas Jefferson introduced a bill to revise Virginia s death penalty laws. The bill proposed that capital punishment be used only for crimes of murder and treason. It was defeated by only one vote1. In 1946, Michigan was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Superior to other animals due to the dexterity of his movements (40, 71), Jeoffry is able to serve God asleep and awake, as emphasized in Smart s parallel lines For there is nothing sweeter than his peace when at rest./For there is nothing brisker than his life when in motion (44 45). Jeoffry s abilities to influence those around him is also brought into light in the parallel lines For he is hated by the hypocrite and miser./For the former is afraid of detection./For the latter refuses the charge (57 59). The ICC was mandated in July of 1998 but was bought into force by July of 2002.1 The Rome Statute is a mutual treaty which serves as the ICC s foundational and leading document. The United States and the USSR were allies during the Second World War, but had been wary of one another. Clinical reasoning is a set of skill performed by occupational therapists which are central to practice and involved throughout the Occupational therapy process (Neistadt, 1996, AOTA, 2008). This will be done in relation to our case study of which the protagonist is Hugh, a 70 year old widower and retired baker, who was managing well an episode of depression but has recently been found apathetic, unwashed and in soiled clothes by the public mental health nurse, and referred to see an occupational therapist. Narrative Reasoning The first element of this process we will discuss is narrative reasoning which concerns itself with the construction and subsequent analysis of the client s occupational story (Neistadt, 1996, Duncan, 2006). This process is developed through allowing the client the opportunity to create a narrative image through story telling, this can manifest itself in an adumbration of their life experience and how it has been altered through disability, disease or transition (Duncan, 2006, Neistadt, 1996). The importance for a practitioner to explore the client s narrative is not only in the development of their story but it also gives the therapist insight into the person and a possible future for them (Higgs, 2008). • 36. Agent Orange Dossier And The Vietnam War The Vietnam War, lasting from 1955 1975, initially began as a civil war between North and South Vietnam. The war eventually escalated into a foreign conflict involving multiple countries that backed either region corresponding to their beliefs. The United States supported the democratic ideals of the South and vigorously opposed the communist ideology of the North. They feared that if Vietnam fell to communism, other countries would soon follow, according to the conception of the domino theory. The United States predominantly influenced the war by sending roughly half a million military personnel overseas. At first, American involvement received relatively positive reception. However, as the war progressed, news of its horrific nature were revealed to the American public, which sparked national outrage and formed anti war movements. One prominent group that participated in these protests is a national veterans organization called Vietnam Veterans Against the Vietnam War. The organization published a document titled Agent Orange Dossier containing a collection of newspaper articles and photographs that focuses on the controversy surrounding the use of Agent Orange in Vietnam. Agent Orange, a herbicide, was used extensively by the U.S. military in the Vietnam War to destroy crop fields and vegetation. The herbicide contains dioxin, a chemical compound that poses several health risks. These few issues made Agent Orange extremely controversial. The dossier seeks to inform ... • 38. Congressional Era Of Reconstruction During Post Civil War... Failure is simply an opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently. Henry Ford. This was the Southern optimist s view of what the results of post Civil War Reconstruction could be. Unfortunately, once the Congressional era of Reconstruction began, this view was squandered under federal punishment of the South. This policy led to strained relations between Congress and the ex Confederate states. The difference of opinion was over how harshly the South should be punished for leaving the Union. The South wanted to be readmitted with as little friction as possible, so they sided with the Democrats, like Robert E. Lee, and Moderate Republicans. Congress on the other hand, being mostly controlled by Radical Republicans, believed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One explicit difference of policy was over the use of troops to put the South into military districts that were under martial law and putting Northern Generals over Southern troops. As historian S. Chase said in the Democratic National Committee of 1873 There should have been as little military government as possible. This policy was even more harshly debated because these troops were there to enforce a law that the Southerners were not ever able to vote on until they were forced to vote for it if they wanted to rejoin the United States, which they had to do because they lost the Civil War. This force, both physically and ideologically, seemed very out of place in a country that claimed to be the land of the free, and even more out of place since it was a Democracy. This ideological difference between Southerners and Congress has been a major point of contention in discussions about Reconstruction policy since it was put into practice. Another point of policy disagreement can be seen in how representation in the South would be handled. In accordance with Congressional Reconstruction, certain classes of ex Confederates, such as the class that Robert E. Lee was in, were excluded from being granted their suffrage . This was an outrage to Southerners for two reasons. The first is that the certain classes being exempted from regaining their suffrage were the highest part of the upper class and the people of high rank from the ex Confederate ... Cognitive Theory The cognitive restructuring theory commands that one s personal impractical philosophies are precisely responsible for producing dysfunctional feelings and their subsequent behaviors, such as anxiety, despair, and social extractions; and humans can be purged of such feelings and their validities by demolishing the theories that give them life. The cognitive restructuring model is a proven model in addressing behavioral issues concerning stroke victims and adolescents. Team A s focus will be addressing the perceptions into these interventions. Adolescents suffering from depression are often asked to record thoughts on situations happening is day to day life. When a situation happens that furthers or intensifies the clients unwanted behavior, thoughts are recorded, this is to monitor and change specific behaviors and thoughts. By reporting ones thoughts and feelings the individual can document what has happened, what thoughts are happening, and what changes need to be made to improve the unwanted behavior. By continuing to document feelings and thoughts of depression, the adolescent will be able to notice a change in their own behavior; they will be able to realize that emotions are dictating how they react to certain events. With the documenting process of cognitive restructuring, many individuals will be capable of changing their own thought process for the better. Each session with the depressed adolescent should be well structured with feedback from the adolescent, frequent feedback allows the client to be heavily involved and will bring about different emotions. • 40. Debate Over School Uniforms The Debate Over School Uniforms Context In some countries, e.g. Britain and many Caribbean states, it is common for school pupils to have to wear distinctive uniforms identifying them with a particular institution, especially to the end of compulsory education at 16. In others, e.g. France, the USA, it is rare for uniforms to be worn, although some private schools may retain them. In both situations the desirability of school uniforms remains controversial among students, parents and educationalists. As a result of this some schools have abandoned uniform at the same time as others have adopted it. pros Uniform helps to create a strong sense school ethos and a sense of belonging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pupils without expensive designer clothes and trainers may be singled out as social outcasts, or stigmatised as being from poor backgrounds. For these reasons many parents prefer uniforms as they save them money on buying clothes for school wear cons Students always find ways to tease or bully others, regardless of what clothes are worn. Those who wish to be particularly fashionable will want to own the same number of outfits regardless of whether they are allowed to wear them to school or not, changing into them the minute that classes are over. Parents often find some uniform items, e.g. jackets, very expensive compared to the rest of their child s wardrobe, and complain they can never be worn outside the school environment. pros Uniform has practical benefits when students are outside the school building. Being readily identified with a particular institution may make students more aware of their behaviour while travelling to and from the school, leading them to act more considerately, e.g. to other passengers on buses or trains. On organised trips away from the school it is much easier for teachers to ensure they haven t lost anyone and to monitor behaviour, than if students wore their own clothes and blended in with the crowds. cons Uniform makes students very identifiable and emphasises the divisions between ... Basic pretreatment processes will be carried out in order to prepare the biosorbents for adsorption. Aiming to check the reliability of the system and find possible pitfalls, some preliminary tests will be run, and the results will be analyzed. Once the reliability of the apparatus, repeatability of the process, and standard operating procedure are determined, the next phase of the project will be commenced. 5.2 Phase 2 In this phase, the experiments will be focused on single component and binary systems. Firstly, pure methane will be fed into the column and the adsorption process will be investigated. Afterwards, the same experiments at similar conditions will be carried out using pure water vapor. Based on the result of these experiments, a new set of experiments will be designed and carried out for binary systems (Methane and water vapor). Equilibrium and kinetics will be studied. Dynamic studies will be accomplished. Generally, the performance of Flax Shive and Oat Hulls in PSA process will be determined. 5.3 Phase 3 To further investigate the adsorption process, various isotherms will be fitted on the experimental data. Equilibrium capacity, uptake of species, diffusion constants, and selectivity will be calculated. Based on these results, the nature of the adsorption process will be determined. • 43. Reflective Essay On Critical Thinking Questioning and challenging my assumptions and attitudes about critical thinking is a new process for me, but I do appreciate that to develop and enhance my assumptions and other mindsets it is an important undertaking. Looking at what we hold to be true is an endeavor well trenched into us as we evolved. The real value of critical thinking is that it s been at the root of all human progress (Rabinowitz, 2015). Being challenged on my thinking is difficult, but once I got through the difficulty I realized it was for my betterment as a student and as a teacher. My prior experience as an undergraduate in early childhood education with Bloom s focused mainly on the cognitive domain and thus I cannot recall the affective or psychomotor domains being addressed. However, as I began to understand that the committee identified three domains of educational activities or learning (Bloom, 1956 as cited by Clark, 2015), I realized that I did have assumptions and that they were being challenged. First of all, I did assume that Bloom s focus on cognitive development devalues the importance of other domains and secondly that Bloom s Taxonomy is only used by educators in K 12 and college. Interestingly, both have since been challenged and changed through my readings as it is important to note that the most common usage of Bloom s Taxonomy focuses on cognitive learning skills rather than psychomotor or affective skills, two domains that are crucial to the success of health ... Choice of clothing and eating habits, in no way, allow you to pass judgment on a person. Judging people based on these factors is extremely shallow. What one wears and eats in no way depicts character, behavior, or even intelligence. One simply cannot know a person by looking at them and observing what they eat. Such a thought is ridiculous. Instead of looking at clothing and what one is eating, character should be the basis for opinion. One cannot have a full outlook on an individual by just viewing their dress and eating habits. Looking at someone s clothing or what is in their refrigerator does not depict behavior. By seeing what one wears and eats in no way allows you to know if the person is intelligent. Crazy as it sounds, some bums are educated, smart people. These bums eating from garbage s may even carry a conversation better than someone wearing a business suit and eating Red Lobster every night. An intelligent person could simply choose not to care about dress. Not all smart people conform to what society feels is appropriate. Some may choose to dress like bums simply because they don t care. It doesn t mean they re any less smart or have less money. It could mean that such petty things do not get to this person. The main goal of her research is to understand the specific pleasure and engagements of British cinema audiences in the 1940s and 1950s. Stacey received 350 letters from women who went to the cinema 2 3 times a week during this period of wartime as cinema going was at an all time high. Within the book, Stacey discusses Laura Mulvey s Male Gaze and how Mulvey s analysis of the pleasures of Hollywood cinema led her to conclude that the spectator position offered is a masculine one. She talks about how there are 3 looks within the dominant mode of Hollywood cinema; the camera(man), the editor and the director. She emphasizes on how all of these looks work together to create the effect of seeing the female characters as objects of desire through the eyes of the male characters. However, Stacey argues that women do not have to adopt the dominant masculine position offered by the text in order to gain pleasure from looking at the female characters. Stacey describes Mulvey s work as an attack on the visual pleasures of Hollywood cinema (page 24). This is where people can drop off a firearm that you possess that is inherited or simply, no longer in usage. For example, when the students ate to much candy they got a tummy ache, the cause of the tummy ache was eating too much candy and the effect of eating too much candy was a tummy ache, I will do the same thing and use the example of tripping over something. Once they have a pretty good understanding of the concept I will read the book to them. Once I am done reading the book the students and I will go back through it and figure out all of the examples of cause and effect throughout the book. After reading this the students and I would discuss that the cause of the mouse wanting the lunch box was because he was going to school and because he was given a lunch box he wanted to fill it with food for later and that was the effect the mouse receiving the lunch box.
