I chose to view and analyze the film The Boondock Saints....
I chose to view and analyze the film The Boondock Saints. There were many different things I focused
on while viewing the film. I decided to brake them down into the following categories: narrative,
theatrical elements, cinematography, sound, and the overall experience. I will begin with stating my
personal interpretations and understandings of the narrative.
Throughout the film there are two main characters. These two characters are Irish brothers that share a
deep sense of their Catholic religion. Their names are Murphy and Connor McManus. Murphy and
Connor are two normal men who are put in an extraordinary situation. Connor risks his own life to
save the life of his brother. The situation starts out with a bar fight with two Russian ... Show more

conquer evil. They state their intentions and beliefs in public during the trial of Joe Yakaveta. They
gathered around him, prayed, and killed him. The three of them tried to point out that justice needed to
be done and that they would be out in the world making sure that it was. During the course of the

Prevention Of SNAP Fraud
The policy we propose to prevent SNAP fraud will require applicants to provide a drug test as a form
of security. In regards, to the low income families many turn to programs like SNAP to be able to
provide a meal for their families every day. There are many applications to process and these
programs have set limits to those who want to abuse the benefits. A simple drug test for everyone who
is applying will be essential to open opportunities for those who actually need the assistance. There
will be no discrimination of race, ethnicity, age, gender, or religion because everyone will be required
to provide a drug test. Most families who are actually in need will use the money given to them to
have a decent meal. A person who is addicted to drugs

Roller Coaster Report Task
Rollercoaster Report Task
1. Aim: To investigate energy changes in a rollercoaster, and to investigate to role of wasted energy.
2. Introduction:
Nowadays, in almost every theme park, there is a special ride called Roller coaster. The question here
is, how does it work and why are people addicted to it.
The movement of a rollercoaster relies on two types of energies: Gravitational Potential Energy (GPE)
and Kinetic Energy (KE). GPE is a stored energy due to gravity (Potential Kinetic Energy, 2015). (KE
is an energy of motion (Kinetic energy, 2015).
Potential energy (PE) is stored energy, has potential to do work.
Gravitational potential energy (GPE) is the energy of position (vertical). An object has GPE whenever

Part1: The higher the height is, the greater the velocity of the cart gets and the larger the GPE is. It
means velocity and GPE depends on height. Moreover, if GPE is the Maximum then KE is 0 at the top
of the hill, and if GPE is 0 then KE is Maximum at the bottom of the slope (Law of conservation of
energy). GPE energy will transform into KE while the cart is moving but it can t be the same amount
due to the wasted energy. As we can see from the graph, GPE is slightly larger than KE. About
0.00767J of energy is transferred into heat and sound because of frictions from the outside
environment.
Part 2:As can be observed, the more mass the cart has, the more energy (GPE and KE) it gets.
Moreover, GP and KE depend on mass and the velocity doesn t depend on mass so if the height is the
same, the velocity is constant. Some energy is wasted as heat and sound makes the KE is less than
GPE. According to the Law of conservation of energy, there is no wasted energy in terms of
transformation between GPE and KE but as can be seen from the table 2, KE is slightly smaller than
GPE due to the frictions, which occur during the movement of the

REBT Research Paper
REBT Research Paper
Overview
Development of REBT Rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT), which was the first cognitive
behavior therapy to be introduced into clinical practice, was developed by Albert Ellis in the 1950 s
(Seligman, 2014). Ellis formed REBT after becoming both disillusioned with psychoanalysis, and as a
result of him becoming increasingly influenced by Greek and Asian philosophies (Dryden and
Neehan, 2014). Ellis originally named the approach Rational Therapy because he mainly wanted to
emphasize cognitive and rational features, but then in 1961 changed it to Rational Emotive therapy to
show that emotion was important to him as well (Dryden and Neehan, 2014). Finally in 1993 he gave
it the name we know it by today Rational Emotive Behavior therapy to show his increasing emphasis
on behavior as a way to reinforce changes in thinking (Seligman, 2014). REBT has evolved over the
60 years it has been around, but its basic goal of modifying thoughts has not changed (Seligman,
2014). Since its original development, it has become more postmodern in that it does not take such an
absolutist stance, but more of a constructivist one. (Seligman, 2014).
Therapeutic Focus
The therapeutic focus of REBT is thoughts, and it operates under the assumption that irrational
thoughts underlie all psychological problems (Seligman, 2014). The REBT therapy approach assumes
that the main source of people s dysfunctions are their cognitions, and that a person must identify,

Feminism in Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Aurora Leigh Essay
Feminism in Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Aurora Leigh
In Aurora Leigh, Elizabeth Barrett Browning creates an independent, intelligent young woman. Barrett
Browning successfully demonstrates the difficult obstacles women had to overcome in the Victorian
period. There were preconceived ideas of what proper women were suppose to do with their life. Not
that this idea has completely been surmounted in our time. Barrett Browning though is optimistic
about the goals women can achieve. She wants to demonstrate to women that belief in themselves and
their dreams is possible and preferable to the standard.
The poem begins with Aurora Leigh s observations of her aunt. Her somewhat narrow forehead
braided tight/ As if for taming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of the mathematics, brushed with extreme flounce/ The circle of the sciences, because/ She misliked
women who are frivolous (404 407). Her aunt considered the learning of mathematics and science a
waste of time because a woman would have no chance to use them. She withheld any reading that
were considered improper. In effect Aurora Leigh was taught A general insight into useful facts 413).
Therefore a woman was taught enough facts that could prove useful in conversation. She was not
taught to think deeply and explore ideas for herself.
Her aunt also had her instructed in Spun glass, Stuffed birds, and modeled flowers in wax,/ Because
she liked accomplishments in girls (425 426). So in the narrow mind of her aunt s she considered the
ability to do crafts an accomplishment for women. After the list of Aurora Leigh s education is drawn
out, there is an interesting side bar. Barrett Browning adds By the way,/ The works of women are
symbolical./ We sew...producing what...at best, a cushion...and dream of something we are not... (455
462). She introduces the line subtlety but actually this is the sum of her belief. Women produce goods
that are trivial, not necessary in life. This affects the worth of the woman, not only in monetary value
but in their esteem. Therefore the value of women in society is low for what they produce is of little
worth.
Through this strict upbringing Aurora Leigh s personality persisted. At age twenty she

Throughout their relationship Wuornos continued to work as a prostitute, consequently it was during
this time that Wuornos fatally shot Richard Mallory also stealing his money, possessions and car.
Throughout her trial Wuornos claimed that Richard Mallory had violently raped her just prior to
killing him and she had shot him in self defence (Jensen, 2011). Similarly, Wuornos went on to murder
six more men in a two year timeframe until she was taken into custody in January 9th, 1991. As a

Trobriand Cricket Movie Essay
When people think of cricket (as a sport), they tend to think of the British version. This version is
typically viewed as something serious and somewhat sacred to the British people, so when an outsider
views the Trobriand s version of cricket, they would be forgiven for thinking it s a silly version of the
British game. However, this assumption couldn t be more wrong. The incident of the British bringing
cricket to the Trobriand people is a great example of culture transmission, and how certain groups
react to the introduction of another culture. In the case of the Trobriand people, culture transmission
led to an interesting collision of the British and native cultures. According to Sociology (according to )
and the idea of Modernity, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The example given in the movie Trobriand Cricket: an Ingenious Response to Colonialism was
concerning how the native people adapted the sport of cricket to one more in line with their
society/culture. With the Trobriand people (specifically within the game of cricket) the adaption pulled
all members of the teams to play, instead of the British rule of 11 players on the field at a time. In the
movie, this looked to be an interesting adaption because of the sheer amount of people that could be
on each side. The fields looked very crowded, but at the same time, this was due to a lingering belief
of the Trobriand people to allow everyone. Not all the rules concerning the field changed however.
The tribes still had the basic batters to protect the wickets (which were adapted to have a stick on top
to detect if a wicket had been hit), but had slightly adjusted the rules concerning runners. Runners
were now separate from the batters, contrary to how the British played the game. Once a batter had hit
the ball, a separate runner would then run between the two sets of wickets. In the grand scheme of
things, these are all relatively minor changes to the game, however, the Trobriand people had a much
bigger change on the

Review Of Gaius Plinius Caecilius Secundus
Gaius Plinius Caecilius Secundus or Pliny the Younger was a roman aristocrat at the height of the Pax
Romana. The Pax Romana was a time of stability and peace throughout the roman empire. There was
very minimal military activity. His letters give us a view into the perspective of the roman aristocrat as
well as an insight into roman society. The letters also give a perspective of the lives of roman women
during this time. Roman society was a very patriarchal during the Pax Romana and women were
considered much less important than men. This is apparent in his letters. There are very few accounts
in Pliny s letters that go into detail about the women of these times. The letters that do include female
characters are about aristocrats dominantly and give us only a biased snapshot of how they interact
within roman society. The character that we have the most to go on is Culpurnia. Calpurnia is the
granddaughter of Calpurnius Fabitus and wife of Pliny the Younger. In his letters he describes
Calpurnia as becoming well adjusted to her role as Pliny s wife. You are a model of family devotion,
and you loved your brother, matching his deep regard for you with equal affection. You love his
daughter as if she was your own, and to her you re enact the fondness not only of an aunt, but also that
of the father she lost (4,19). Calpurnia was everything Pliny could ask for in a wife. He extolled her
intelligence, her devotion, and her expertise at looking after their home. She is

The Egyptian Religion And Religion
Ancient Egyptians had a history that flourished for three thousand years before fading from existence
around the time existence around the time of the roman invasion. They created a culture so rich and
diverse, that its influence still affects today s western world. The ancient Egyptians were polytheistic
in nature and the rich polytheistic culture and rituals shaped their daily life, art, religious beliefs,
funerary practices and kingship. The ancient Egyptian religion is centered on deities and overtime,
their religious belief which influenced their whole existence changed based on the rise and fall of
important gods in control of the forces and elements of nature. The Egyptian religion was shaped by
the polytheistic view of the universe. A belief in polytheism determined the belief in gods, death and
magic. This essay focuses on the religious practices while also drawing a comparison with the
Christian religion which has monotheistic view of the world.
Every empire has a creation story, narrating the origin of the universe and the creation of humanity.
For Christians, according to Genesis, heavens and the earth was created by God out of darkness. God
alone created all that was good in seven days and on the last day he created man. From Man he created
Woman, who went forth to multiply and populate the earth. On the other hand, Egyptians as a result of
their polytheistic nature possessed many creation stories based on the cult of the god in Egypt. There

Analysis Of The Book Portrait Of The Artist
Ovid s Metamorphoses, having no set plot may at first confuse some readers, though it starts with
creation, it moves on the practices involving Gods and mortals and the changes they incur. The stories
seem to follow each other in time, but there are flashback s that show Ovid is not concerned with the
nebulas of time, instead he is showing the transformation s the characters go through. Passage of time
is not Ovid s point, but as he put in the mouth of Pythagoras, the only constant in the universe is
change. Ovid s character s changes are usually immediate, Athena changed Talos to a partridge,
Daphne was transformed into a laurel tree, and Echo, well was turned into an echo. There is often a
discontinuity of time, we know Echo wasted away, but how long that took is not important the theme
is, the often lack of the restraints of time is what makes mythology so easy to relate for any era. James
Joyce in his novel, Portrait of the Artist as A Young Man, ties his story with the semblances of
mythology from the story of Daedalus and Icarus, fusing the ideas that discovery, sacrifice and
rebellion is a process needed to be an artist. Though Daedalus and Icarus are from a mythical time and
Stephen is living in a specific time during Dublin s history, all characters are faced with the struggles
of existence, self discovery, and learning how to deal with one s own need for artistic freedom and the
disadvantages such gifts may pose. The path that each undergo, either by

The Potential Market Opportunities For Lagunitas Brewing...
The potential market opportunities for Lagunitas Brewing Company (LBC) are:
1. Growth of craft brewed beer market The craft brewing segment of the beer industry has experience
fluctuations in demand from a high of 58% growth in 1995 to a decline of 5% annually from 1997 to
2003 (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 92). However, it is now experiencing rapid growth. At the
commencement of 2012, 6.5% of U.S. beer sales were generated by craft brewers and that number
increased by 15% by the conclusion of the year (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 92). The growth of the
market presents LBC with an opportunity to generate additional revenue.
2. Utilize additional forms of marketing Word of mouth and quality products are the basis of
Lagunitas Brewing Company s marketing approach (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 99). The company also
sponsors touring bands by providing beer and gasoline and donates its beer to festivals and events
primarily involving music (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 97 99). However, it does not employ traditional
marketing, minimal pricing incentives, and push marketing techniques (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 99).
While the company had revenue growth of 46% in 2010 and 60% in the first two quarters of 2011
using this strategy, other marketing techniques such as advertising or digital marketing for example,
can provide LBC the opportunity to increase brand awareness. In the case of digital marketing, the
company has the prospect of reaching more Millennials as they are avid

Thesis For Mending Wall
Is there an object in your life that brings you and a friend together? In Mending Wall written by
Robert Frost, two neighbors come together every year to repair the wall that divides their property.
They do not have any livestock to keep off of each others property but they still come together every
year. They say that it keeps them staying up in each others lives and help to maintain their friendship.
The narrator of this poem is trying to convince these two that there is no point in this wall because it is
not keeping anything off of each others property. The neighbors try to convince them otherwise.
Finding common ground between two people helps build strong relationships. The author shows this
by the dialogue between the narrator and the neighbors, the symbol of the wall, and third idea. In this
poem, the main characters, the neighbors, are in a constant battle with the narrator. They try explaining
to the narrator how this wall has brought them together. It allows them to stay up in each others lives
and keep their friendship stable. The neighbors share with the narrator that this wall is not pointless.

The Dark Side Of The Black Eyes
Sam s broken sneakers never left the dirty, cold ground as he gently pours the icy clear water into the
rusty cans. He crouches next to the door quietly maneuvering his nimble hands around the once
smooth iron bars. He peers at the eyes glaring back at him. The black eyes are like the black holes of
the universe, swallowing the light that seeps from the cracks of the door. Sam softens his gaze as the
creature has won this battle. He suddenly inhales the dry air and shutters as the pain from his heart
dissipates. The presence of blood lingers above his taste buds and fills his nostrils. Sam s tongue twists
and turns in the desert the tongue lives in. Ahh! shouts Sam as he hurls the water bucket against the
wall. His nail digs into the palm of his hands as his breathing slows and his eyelids surrender to
gravity. The ceiling sent a soft white glow throughout the room to scare the darkness out of the
corners. The walls stood to hide the dangers of outside. A collage of wool each dusted with short
golden strands of hair covered the ground. A boy sat with his legs out in the middle of the room as a
dog circled around. The sound of laughter and panting combined into a symphony of bad notes. The
boy reached out to grab the soft golden hairs that blurred past him, but fell back into the cloud of
fabric. The dog stopped and stood over the child. The smile wiped from the dogs face as he searched
for a tear, but he found a smile instead. The dog s tail ran wild, releasing a new

Is sustainable competitive advantage possible, and how can technology be used as its catalyst? This is
the question that has vexed managers and business leaders for decades. According to Michael Porter,
the answer lies in how technology is used. In this Case Study Report, Team 3 discusses how Mrs.

Netflix s Successful Implementation Of Managerial...
Over the past 7 years, Netflix streaming has expanded from thousands of members watching a show
from time to time to millions of members watching over two billion hours every single month. Each
time a member starts to watch a movie or TV episode, a view is created in the data systems, and a
collection of events describing that view is gathered. Given that viewing is what members spend most
of their time doing on Netflix, having a robust and scalable architecture to manage and process this
data is critical to the success of the business. A huge part of Netflix s success can be attributed to their
successful implementation of managerial information system. Netflix records data on content that
consumers have watched in the past and bases suggested movies and TV shows based that particular
consumer s history. This provides the consumer with a highly personalized streaming experience that
tailors showcases all the material Netflix has to offer that would actually interest that one customer.
Netflix s competitor Hulu didn t implement such data mining strategies right away and instead
observed Netflix to see if their implementation of datamining would be successful. While they were
awaiting results from Netflix, Hulu would just show their customers all of their available content from
the menu screen. This caused a very convoluted and overwhelming menu screen to pick out a movie
or show from. It s this accessibility that drove Netflix to surpass other streaming services such

A Parliamentary Government Is A Form Of Government
A parliamentary government is a form of government that consists of two different systems. The
legislative system and the executive. The supremacy of the legislative government has been replaced
with a cabinet and has since been called a cabinet government. A parliamentary system has a head of
state, also known as the president in some countries. According to Shively, 2014, the president or head
of state is merely symbolic and only carries out ceremonial functions and has no governmental
control.
Description of India s Parliament
Indian Parliament is the highest legislative body of India. The parliament is comprised of the President
and two houses. The first house, is the Rajya Sabha the Council of States. It is also called the upper

is a permanent house and cannot be dissolved. There is a maximum of two hundred and fifty seats in
the Council of State. There are two hundred and thirty eight members, all of which are elected
members and representatives of each state and two union territories. The other twelve are members
who have been nominated by the president. Each council member serves a maximum of six years
(Shubhangi, 2017). According to Shively, 2014, the president is directly elected by the electoral

The issue of gun rights has been a popular debate in the United States of America. The side opposing
the rights to own certain guns have been frantically trying to convince others to join them in the fight.
Like most advertisements, the ads concerning the issue of gun rights have to be provocative and eye
catching. The Moms Demand Action for Gun Safety in America society created an advertisement
around 2013 to persuade Americans to support the ban of assault weapons in America. The
advertisement got the point across about the danger of not banned assault weapons compared to a
relatively harmless banned children s book, but fell short with the lettering, resulting in the lack of
explanation for the ad. The image contains two elementary age girls sitting on the ground facing the
camera. These two girls are different races. The African American girl holds a copy of Little Riding
Hood in her hands facing the camera. The Caucasian girl is holding a massive assault gun that appears
to be almost as big as she is. These two girls are sitting cross legged on the ground in a typical
elementary school library. The library has an American flag tucked in the corner. The wording One
child is holding something that has been banned in America to protect them. is in white in the middle

beneficial to see each countries individual income and a choropleth map depicts it very well. The first
methodology I used for this map the video by Professor Bell. I looked at the tables in the Appendix

of activities to obtain an optimal result, i.e., a result that reaches the specified goal best (according to
the mathematical model) among all feasible alternatives.
Linear Programming as seen by various reports by many companies has saved them thousands to even
millions of dollars. Since this is true why isn t everyone using Linear Programming? Maybe the ...

I believe that every company should be using LP and I have hypothesized that linear programming
increases both EPS, ROI and by definition Profit. This research therefore assumes that a company not
using LP would have made less money than one that did use LP. The sample is 28 companies and I felt
this would be sufficient as a sample size as statisticians typically recommend a minimum of 20 data
points (in this case companies) in order to test a hypothesis. The companies are located in and near the
state of Delaware and also include New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
This research is not exhaustive and therefore will not be final in terms of how it is interpreted but it
will assist others who wish to use much larger samples and over much longer periods of time to refine
the results and potentially prove that LP does have a consistent improvement effect on a company s
profits, ROI and EPS measures of performance. Method
I used the survey research method as the basis of my research design. Calls were made to each
company that was randomly selected and for whom their results were collected. Each company was
asked the question Can we speak to your corporate planning and decision support function . If they
were unsure of which department was meant, we would then ask Can we speak to the key people
within your organization who are responsible for

Women s Role As A Female
The female gender has been evolving over time. During the last few years women have been rising
above the obstacles and excelling. Women are now becoming the leaders in society despite many
challenges. My gender as a female, possess so many positive characteristics but also negative
connotations. When I think of the term female, I think of superheroes. Women are extremely amazing
and we have the power to rise above all obstacles. We have positioned ourselves in society to advance
in higher roles then ever imagined. It is also extremely hard being a female because of the constant
issues we face. Women have been suppressed, discriminated against and degraded. Women are
constantly pulled in many different directions when it pertains to our role. Women are held to many
different expectations and standards, our role is sometimes confusing.
As a woman there are certain expectations I have for myself but often feel pressured from other
influences, such as family expectations. Female suppression is often experienced in my family.
Females are not encouraged to be successful professionally. Being a woman in my family represents
many different traditions. As the oldest female, I am the second mother. I am the care taker of my
younger siblings. It is my responsibility to nurture the younger children and ensures their safe. It is the
woman s obligation to ensure the house is clean and food is prepared. The expectations are not always
positive and it is expected to continue the

Comparing Crime And Punishment By Fyodor Dostoyevsky
The novel Crime and Punishment written by Fyodor Dostoyevsky explores the idea that sin will
continually erode your soul away. The main protagonists are a murderer named Rodion Romanovich
Raskolnikov, and the girl he falls in love with, Sonia Semyonovna Marmeladov. Both Sonia and
Rodion lead very different lives; it is evident how convictions and beliefs guide the way these two
characters live their lives. Sonia believes in the New Testament, and reads it regularly, and also
believes that through faith comes death to the old self, and eternal life through Christ. Sonia s christian
convictions affect her love for people, her self sacrifice, and her firm foundation in Christ. Sonia is
devoted to people by faithfully loving them despite their brokenness. ... Show more content on

As Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov goes to confess his murder to the town government, Sonia gifts
him a cypress cross to remind him of why he is telling the authorities. Sonia says to Rodion, Go at
once, this very minute, stand at the cross roads, bow down, first kiss the earth which you have defiled
and then bow down to all the world and say to all men aloud, I am a murderer! Then God will send
you life again (Dostoyevsky 302). Regardless of the murderer Raskolnikov is, Sonia still loves him
without end. In addition to loving Raskolnikov, Sonia also loves her dad unconditionally. Before his
death, her father, Marmeladov was s drunkard. He is unwilling to provide for his family. Sonia gave
her father money regularly, even though she knew he would drink his money away. Sonia shows her
devotion to others by lovingly caring for others. Crime and Punishment shows Sonia as, ...the
daughter who gave herself up for the cross, consumptive step mother and for little children of
another... the daughter who had pity upon the filthy drunkard, her earthly father, undismayed by his
beastliness (Dovesty 14). In addition to Sonia s

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Backlash Against Serial And...
Rhetorical Analysis In his passionately written article The Backlash Against Serial and Why It s
Wrong, author Conor Friedersdorf comes to the podcast s defense following the harsh criticisms that
have been thrown at Serial since its debut. Serial is a spinoff series from parent podcast This American
Life, which details the investigation and reinvestigation of a brutal 1999 murder involving high school
lovers of the Baltimore area. Friedersdorf s piece not only comes to defend Serial s honor, but it also
fights back and grapples with these disparagements thrown at the podcast. In particular, the accused
transgressions from fellow writers Jay Caspian Kang in his own work Serial and White Reporter
Privilege and Jeff Yang s post from Quartz. In my judgement, Friedersdorf does an excellent job
refuting Kang s and Yang s opposing views and persuading his audience that Serial is innocent of the
accused wrongdoings. What are these wrongdoings you ask? Kang claims that Serial is not so much
about the cold case it is investigating, but more so the producer and narrator, Sarah Koenig s, fixation
on the case. He also believes that while Koenig may be well intentioned, she is interpreting and
making assumptions on facts of the lives of people within minority communities involved with the
case. Another writer, Yang asserts that This American Life s method of narrative journalism displays
cultural clumsiness (Yang qtd. Friedersdorf). Friedersdorf argues that these allegations

Essay on Dippin Dots Case
Teaching Notes Dippin Dots Ice Cream, as of October, 2004
Case Uses Objectives
This case can be used to augment discussions of strategic analysis, specifically both internal and
external environmental analysis (Chapters 2 3 in Dess, Lumpkin Eisner); and strategic formulation,
specifically business level strategy (Chapter 5), with an additional focus on strategic implementation,
specifically entrepreneurial development (Chapters 12 13).
The case is written in a style that overviews the situation but intentionally avoids guiding students
through any analytical framework or specific application question. In so doing, it provides the
instructor with the latitude to adjust class discussion and thereby accommodate the ... Show more

Specific to the entrepreneurial challenges, the instructor also has the latitude to discuss the prospects
and problems that the firm would encounter in future in its growth endeavor. This could involve a
discussion on the various avenues of growth, the feasibility of the avenues, possible competitor
reaction and how the company could cope with it. This case can be used to demonstrate the difficulty
of introducing a new product to an already well established market, the challenges of being a small
player in a big market, and the challenges of expansion for a highly specialized product. The instructor
is free to choose the concepts to highlight from Chapters 12 and 13.
Synopsis
Dippin Dots is a 16 year old, over $36 million dollar company employing 160 people, and
headquartered in Paducah, Kentucky. The company s chief operation is the sale of Dippin Dots ice
cream to franchisees and national accounts throughout the world. Dippin Dots are tiny round beads of
ice cream that are made at super cold temperatures and served at subzero temperatures in a soufflé cup
with a spoon. The product is served in 4 oz., 5 oz. and 8 oz. cups, and 5 oz. vending pre packs.
After virtually reinventing a frozen dessert that had been around since the second century B.C., Dippin
Dots founder Curt Jones patented his idea to flash freeze liquid cream and eventually opened the first
Dippin Dots store. Today, the Ice Cream of the Future can be found at thousands of

Humanistic Play Therapy
The article, Child Centered Expressive Arts and Play Therapy: School Groups for At Risk Adolescent
Girls , by Kristi L. Perryman, Rochelle Moss, and Katt Cochran discusses the use of humanistic play
and expressive art therapy combined with group therapy to help at risk adolescent females overcome
life challenging issues in middle school. Using existing research in these specific fields,
phenomenological methods, and grounded theory, the authors where able to gather various data
(artifacts, transcripts, video recordings, group therapy guided activities) to further explore, valid, and
understand the positive effects of this group therapeutic approach. Teenagers typically have a
difficulties expressing their personal problems and discussing critical issues which affect their lives;
thus, child/person centered art therapy groups can serve as tool and means for individual expression.

States, between the ages of 13 and 14 were selected for this study. All of the selected students had very

academic achievement, behavior issues, teacher referrals, tough home environments and poor
socialization skills. Also taken into consideration was each students socioeconomic status, parental
relationships and ability to maintain friendships with peers. Through teacher referrals and school
counselor s information, students were selected for this therapeutic study. The authors purpose for
creating the group was to serve as a therapeutic intervention method which in turn could be used to

Benefits Of Genetic Modification
The debate about genetic modification has been going on for a long time. On one hand, advocates for
genetic modification believe that many diseases could be prevented and it would relieve many people
from pain. On the other hand, many critics of genetic modification believe that it is unnatural or
playing god. I am drawn to this issue because I believe genetic modification is going to be, if it isn t
already, ubiquitous in our future. In my lifetime, 20 30 years from now, I will have to deal with the
benefits and the possible ramifications of genetic modification. This issue is going to affect me
directly and therefore I have chosen this topic. Genetic modification is already on the horizon and
there is little anyone can do to stop this. Genetic modification should be allowed because it can relieve
suffering, improve the quality of life and strengthen pharmaceuticals. but it obviously needs
limitations and regulations. While genetic modification, can dramatically improve people s lives, it
could have side effects if abused. It should be noted that genetic modification should only be used to
cure or prevent serious diseases, there should be no enhancements. There is a fine line between
preventative medicine and enhancements. An enhancement is changing something normal to make it
extraordinary. Serious diseases would include all such ailments that infringes on a human beings
quality of life and puts them through pain. Fatal diseases such as cystic fibrosis, cancer,

Ariel, The Bell Jar By Sylvia Plath
Ariel, The Bell Jar, Daddy. Sylvia Plath had an extremely complicated lifestyle, and it very much
reflected in these books and poems she published. Each one represented a different hardship Plath
experienced, yet one in particular stood out above them all. The Bell Jar , a novel about a young
woman named Esther, living in New York City for a one month internship, who is lost and depressed
in her world, feeling like no one understands her. The book s writing techniques include imitating
personal events Plath went through. One example of this is in the quote, I hate her , I said, and waited
for the blow to fall. . That moment where Esther confided in her doctor this was a symbol of Sylvia
Plath s hatred of her mother, Aurelia Plath. Esther had a horrible relationship with her mom, as did the
troubled author in real life. Therefore, she included it in her novel. When young Sylvia was only eight,
her father, Otto, tragically passed away. Enraged, she believed her father left her on purpose, and
stopped believing God shortly after. It turned her whole life upside down, and it is thought that being
stuck with her strict mother all those years fueled the fire in their rocky relationship. Eventually, she
became obsessed with the hatred of Aurelia Plath, and based many books on her. More than often, she
portrayed her mother as the evil protagonist in them. Moreover, her technique was displayed in the
following, [The Rosenbergs execution] had nothing to do with

The total number of children in temporary accommodation was 6,132 at the end of March 2010
(Bardshaw, 2011 p147).
The average of homeless women is lower than men and most of this is under 25years of age. Women
are more likely to get married and have children and maintained their family contact but they are
likely to have family violence, abusive relationship with their partners. A report shows that four in ten
women are sexually abused (Sweetman 1997). According to (Passaro 2014) there are women and men
in their 20 s and 30 s that sleep in the carved cardboard refrigerator like babies in New York City on
the cold sidewalk. These are more likely to affect their health due to the cold weather leading to a
different kind of sickness whereas they cannot access health care. Hightower (2009) cited that looking
into the beginning of homelessness from the perspective of employed and unemployed women,
Johnson 1991 study shows up by the information of feminist theory through interviewing 25 formerly
homeless women regarding how their experience differs. There were five in fourteen employed
women lost their job through destructive relationship and became homeless due to lack of income and
affordable housing. In addition, six in fourteen women in Johnson study 1991 show up that health
issues are one of the precipitating factors of being homeless. Single homeless people experience high

The Loss Of Innocence In George Dawson s Life Is So Good
In the story Life is So Good, George Dawson goes through his everyday life, but with certain
challenges. The story focuses on the life of Dawson as he navigates through certain journeys, and
overcomes many challenges. One of the many challenges that Dawson had to prevail above was his
loss of innocence. By doing this, Dawson illustrated a major theme in the story, which was the loss of
innocence. Since Dawson was young, his days were spent working, helping his family, and
overcoming social issues in the world around him. When Dawson was a very young child, he was
working to help bring money into the household. At such a young age, Dawson was sent away from
his family to work on a neighboring farm. (quote). Dawson spent the rest of his life

I decided to brake them down into the following categories: narrative, theatrical elements, cinematography, sound, and the overall experience. I will begin with stating my personal interpretations and understandings of the narrative. Throughout the film there are two main characters. These two characters are Irish brothers that share a deep sense of their Catholic religion. Their names are Murphy and Connor McManus. Murphy and Connor are two normal men who are put in an extraordinary situation. Connor risks his own life to save the life of his brother. The situation starts out with a bar fight with two Russian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Power hath descended forth from Thy hand Our feet may swiftly carry out Thy commands. They state their intentions and beliefs in public during the trial of Joe Yakaveta. They gathered around him, prayed, and killed him. The three of them tried to point out that justice needed to be done and that they would be out in the world making sure that it was. During the course of the movie there are three Boston detectives and an F.B.I. agent working on the murder cases. The F.B.I. agent s name was Agent Smecker. he was devoted to his job and believed in justice. • 3. Prevention Of SNAP Fraud The policy we propose to prevent SNAP fraud will require applicants to provide a drug test as a form of security. In regards, to the low income families many turn to programs like SNAP to be able to provide a meal for their families every day. There are many applications to process and these programs have set limits to those who want to abuse the benefits. A simple drug test for everyone who is applying will be essential to open opportunities for those who actually need the assistance. There will be no discrimination of race, ethnicity, age, gender, or religion because everyone will be required to provide a drug test. Most families who are actually in need will use the money given to them to have a decent meal. A person who is addicted to drugs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Roller Coaster Report Task Rollercoaster Report Task 1. Aim: To investigate energy changes in a rollercoaster, and to investigate to role of wasted energy. 2. Introduction: Nowadays, in almost every theme park, there is a special ride called Roller coaster. The question here is, how does it work and why are people addicted to it. The movement of a rollercoaster relies on two types of energies: Gravitational Potential Energy (GPE) and Kinetic Energy (KE). GPE is a stored energy due to gravity (Potential Kinetic Energy, 2015). (KE is an energy of motion (Kinetic energy, 2015). Potential energy (PE) is stored energy, has potential to do work. Gravitational potential energy (GPE) is the energy of position (vertical). An object has GPE whenever it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Interpret: Part1: The higher the height is, the greater the velocity of the cart gets and the larger the GPE is. It means velocity and GPE depends on height. Moreover, if GPE is the Maximum then KE is 0 at the top of the hill, and if GPE is 0 then KE is Maximum at the bottom of the slope (Law of conservation of energy). GPE energy will transform into KE while the cart is moving but it can t be the same amount due to the wasted energy. As we can see from the graph, GPE is slightly larger than KE. About 0.00767J of energy is transferred into heat and sound because of frictions from the outside environment. Part 2:As can be observed, the more mass the cart has, the more energy (GPE and KE) it gets. Moreover, GP and KE depend on mass and the velocity doesn t depend on mass so if the height is the same, the velocity is constant. Some energy is wasted as heat and sound makes the KE is less than GPE. According to the Law of conservation of energy, there is no wasted energy in terms of transformation between GPE and KE but as can be seen from the table 2, KE is slightly smaller than GPE due to the frictions, which occur during the movement of the ... • 5. REBT Research Paper REBT Research Paper Overview Development of REBT Rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT), which was the first cognitive behavior therapy to be introduced into clinical practice, was developed by Albert Ellis in the 1950 s (Seligman, 2014). Ellis formed REBT after becoming both disillusioned with psychoanalysis, and as a result of him becoming increasingly influenced by Greek and Asian philosophies (Dryden and Neehan, 2014). Ellis originally named the approach Rational Therapy because he mainly wanted to emphasize cognitive and rational features, but then in 1961 changed it to Rational Emotive therapy to show that emotion was important to him as well (Dryden and Neehan, 2014). Finally in 1993 he gave it the name we know it by today Rational Emotive Behavior therapy to show his increasing emphasis on behavior as a way to reinforce changes in thinking (Seligman, 2014). REBT has evolved over the 60 years it has been around, but its basic goal of modifying thoughts has not changed (Seligman, 2014). Since its original development, it has become more postmodern in that it does not take such an absolutist stance, but more of a constructivist one. (Seligman, 2014). Therapeutic Focus The therapeutic focus of REBT is thoughts, and it operates under the assumption that irrational thoughts underlie all psychological problems (Seligman, 2014). The REBT therapy approach assumes that the main source of people s dysfunctions are their cognitions, and that a person must identify, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Feminism in Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Aurora Leigh Essay Feminism in Elizabeth Barrett Browning s Aurora Leigh In Aurora Leigh, Elizabeth Barrett Browning creates an independent, intelligent young woman. Barrett Browning successfully demonstrates the difficult obstacles women had to overcome in the Victorian period. There were preconceived ideas of what proper women were suppose to do with their life. Not that this idea has completely been surmounted in our time. Barrett Browning though is optimistic about the goals women can achieve. She wants to demonstrate to women that belief in themselves and their dreams is possible and preferable to the standard. The poem begins with Aurora Leigh s observations of her aunt. Her somewhat narrow forehead braided tight/ As if for taming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of the mathematics, brushed with extreme flounce/ The circle of the sciences, because/ She misliked women who are frivolous (404 407). Her aunt considered the learning of mathematics and science a waste of time because a woman would have no chance to use them. She withheld any reading that were considered improper. In effect Aurora Leigh was taught A general insight into useful facts 413). Therefore a woman was taught enough facts that could prove useful in conversation. She was not taught to think deeply and explore ideas for herself. Her aunt also had her instructed in Spun glass, Stuffed birds, and modeled flowers in wax,/ Because she liked accomplishments in girls (425 426). So in the narrow mind of her aunt s she considered the ability to do crafts an accomplishment for women. After the list of Aurora Leigh s education is drawn out, there is an interesting side bar. Barrett Browning adds By the way,/ The works of women are symbolical./ We sew...producing what...at best, a cushion...and dream of something we are not... (455 462). She introduces the line subtlety but actually this is the sum of her belief. Women produce goods that are trivial, not necessary in life. This affects the worth of the woman, not only in monetary value but in their esteem. Therefore the value of women in society is low for what they produce is of little worth. Through this strict upbringing Aurora Leigh s personality persisted. At age twenty she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Trobriand Cricket Movie Essay When people think of cricket (as a sport), they tend to think of the British version. This version is typically viewed as something serious and somewhat sacred to the British people, so when an outsider views the Trobriand s version of cricket, they would be forgiven for thinking it s a silly version of the British game. However, this assumption couldn t be more wrong. The incident of the British bringing cricket to the Trobriand people is a great example of culture transmission, and how certain groups react to the introduction of another culture. In the case of the Trobriand people, culture transmission led to an interesting collision of the British and native cultures. According to Sociology (according to ) and the idea of Modernity, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The example given in the movie Trobriand Cricket: an Ingenious Response to Colonialism was concerning how the native people adapted the sport of cricket to one more in line with their society/culture. With the Trobriand people (specifically within the game of cricket) the adaption pulled all members of the teams to play, instead of the British rule of 11 players on the field at a time. In the movie, this looked to be an interesting adaption because of the sheer amount of people that could be on each side. The fields looked very crowded, but at the same time, this was due to a lingering belief of the Trobriand people to allow everyone. Not all the rules concerning the field changed however. The tribes still had the basic batters to protect the wickets (which were adapted to have a stick on top to detect if a wicket had been hit), but had slightly adjusted the rules concerning runners. Runners were now separate from the batters, contrary to how the British played the game. Once a batter had hit the ball, a separate runner would then run between the two sets of wickets. In the grand scheme of things, these are all relatively minor changes to the game, however, the Trobriand people had a much bigger change on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Review Of Gaius Plinius Caecilius Secundus Gaius Plinius Caecilius Secundus or Pliny the Younger was a roman aristocrat at the height of the Pax Romana. The Pax Romana was a time of stability and peace throughout the roman empire. There was very minimal military activity. His letters give us a view into the perspective of the roman aristocrat as well as an insight into roman society. The letters also give a perspective of the lives of roman women during this time. Roman society was a very patriarchal during the Pax Romana and women were considered much less important than men. This is apparent in his letters. There are very few accounts in Pliny s letters that go into detail about the women of these times. The letters that do include female characters are about aristocrats dominantly and give us only a biased snapshot of how they interact within roman society. The character that we have the most to go on is Culpurnia. Calpurnia is the granddaughter of Calpurnius Fabitus and wife of Pliny the Younger. In his letters he describes Calpurnia as becoming well adjusted to her role as Pliny s wife. You are a model of family devotion, and you loved your brother, matching his deep regard for you with equal affection. You love his daughter as if she was your own, and to her you re enact the fondness not only of an aunt, but also that of the father she lost (4,19). • 10. The Egyptian Religion And Religion Ancient Egyptians had a history that flourished for three thousand years before fading from existence around the time existence around the time of the roman invasion. They created a culture so rich and diverse, that its influence still affects today s western world. The ancient Egyptians were polytheistic in nature and the rich polytheistic culture and rituals shaped their daily life, art, religious beliefs, funerary practices and kingship. The ancient Egyptian religion is centered on deities and overtime, their religious belief which influenced their whole existence changed based on the rise and fall of important gods in control of the forces and elements of nature. The Egyptian religion was shaped by the polytheistic view of the universe. A belief in polytheism determined the belief in gods, death and magic. This essay focuses on the religious practices while also drawing a comparison with the Christian religion which has monotheistic view of the world. Every empire has a creation story, narrating the origin of the universe and the creation of humanity. For Christians, according to Genesis, heavens and the earth was created by God out of darkness. God alone created all that was good in seven days and on the last day he created man. From Man he created Woman, who went forth to multiply and populate the earth. On the other hand, Egyptians as a result of their polytheistic nature possessed many creation stories based on the cult of the god in Egypt. There often were myths ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Analysis Of The Book Portrait Of The Artist Ovid s Metamorphoses, having no set plot may at first confuse some readers, though it starts with creation, it moves on the practices involving Gods and mortals and the changes they incur. The stories seem to follow each other in time, but there are flashback s that show Ovid is not concerned with the nebulas of time, instead he is showing the transformation s the characters go through. Passage of time is not Ovid s point, but as he put in the mouth of Pythagoras, the only constant in the universe is change. Ovid s character s changes are usually immediate, Athena changed Talos to a partridge, Daphne was transformed into a laurel tree, and Echo, well was turned into an echo. There is often a discontinuity of time, we know Echo wasted away, but how long that took is not important the theme is, the often lack of the restraints of time is what makes mythology so easy to relate for any era. James Joyce in his novel, Portrait of the Artist as A Young Man, ties his story with the semblances of mythology from the story of Daedalus and Icarus, fusing the ideas that discovery, sacrifice and rebellion is a process needed to be an artist. Though Daedalus and Icarus are from a mythical time and Stephen is living in a specific time during Dublin s history, all characters are faced with the struggles of existence, self discovery, and learning how to deal with one s own need for artistic freedom and the disadvantages such gifts may pose. • 12. The Potential Market Opportunities For Lagunitas Brewing... The potential market opportunities for Lagunitas Brewing Company (LBC) are: 1. Growth of craft brewed beer market The craft brewing segment of the beer industry has experience fluctuations in demand from a high of 58% growth in 1995 to a decline of 5% annually from 1997 to 2003 (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 92). However, it is now experiencing rapid growth. At the commencement of 2012, 6.5% of U.S. beer sales were generated by craft brewers and that number increased by 15% by the conclusion of the year (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 92). The growth of the market presents LBC with an opportunity to generate additional revenue. 2. Utilize additional forms of marketing Word of mouth and quality products are the basis of Lagunitas Brewing Company s marketing approach (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 99). The company also sponsors touring bands by providing beer and gasoline and donates its beer to festivals and events primarily involving music (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 97 99). However, it does not employ traditional marketing, minimal pricing incentives, and push marketing techniques (Gilinksy et al., 2014, p. C 99). While the company had revenue growth of 46% in 2010 and 60% in the first two quarters of 2011 using this strategy, other marketing techniques such as advertising or digital marketing for example, can provide LBC the opportunity to increase brand awareness. • 13. Thesis For Mending Wall Is there an object in your life that brings you and a friend together? In Mending Wall written by Robert Frost, two neighbors come together every year to repair the wall that divides their property. They do not have any livestock to keep off of each others property but they still come together every year. They say that it keeps them staying up in each others lives and help to maintain their friendship. The narrator of this poem is trying to convince these two that there is no point in this wall because it is not keeping anything off of each others property. The neighbors try to convince them otherwise. Finding common ground between two people helps build strong relationships. The author shows this by the dialogue between the narrator and the neighbors, the symbol of the wall, and third idea. In this poem, the main characters, the neighbors, are in a constant battle with the narrator. They try explaining to the narrator how this wall has brought them together. It allows them to stay up in each others lives and keep their friendship stable. The neighbors share with the narrator that this wall is not pointless. He crouches next to the door quietly maneuvering his nimble hands around the once smooth iron bars. He peers at the eyes glaring back at him. He suddenly inhales the dry air and shutters as the pain from his heart dissipates. The presence of blood lingers above his taste buds and fills his nostrils. Sam s tongue twists and turns in the desert the tongue lives in. Ahh! shouts Sam as he hurls the water bucket against the wall. His nail digs into the palm of his hands as his breathing slows and his eyelids surrender to gravity. The ceiling sent a soft white glow throughout the room to scare the darkness out of the corners. The walls stood to hide the dangers of outside. A collage of wool each dusted with short golden strands of hair covered the ground. A boy sat with his legs out in the middle of the room as a dog circled around. The sound of laughter and panting combined into a symphony of bad notes. The boy reached out to grab the soft golden hairs that blurred past him, but fell back into the cloud of fabric. The dog stopped and stood over the child. • 16. Is Sustainable Competitive Advantage Possible, And How Can... Is sustainable competitive advantage possible, and how can technology be used as its catalyst? This is the question that has vexed managers and business leaders for decades. According to Michael Porter, the answer lies in how technology is used. In this Case Study Report, Team 3 discusses how Mrs. Fields, Inc. leveraged technology for strategic positioning. • 17. Netflix s Successful Implementation Of Managerial... Over the past 7 years, Netflix streaming has expanded from thousands of members watching a show from time to time to millions of members watching over two billion hours every single month. Each time a member starts to watch a movie or TV episode, a view is created in the data systems, and a collection of events describing that view is gathered. Given that viewing is what members spend most of their time doing on Netflix, having a robust and scalable architecture to manage and process this data is critical to the success of the business. A huge part of Netflix s success can be attributed to their successful implementation of managerial information system. Netflix records data on content that consumers have watched in the past and bases suggested movies and TV shows based that particular consumer s history. This provides the consumer with a highly personalized streaming experience that tailors showcases all the material Netflix has to offer that would actually interest that one customer. Netflix s competitor Hulu didn t implement such data mining strategies right away and instead observed Netflix to see if their implementation of datamining would be successful. While they were awaiting results from Netflix, Hulu would just show their customers all of their available content from the menu screen. This caused a very convoluted and overwhelming menu screen to pick out a movie or show from. It s this accessibility that drove Netflix to surpass other streaming services such ... The side opposing the rights to own certain guns have been frantically trying to convince others to join them in the fight. Like most advertisements, the ads concerning the issue of gun rights have to be provocative and eye catching. The Moms Demand Action for Gun Safety in America society created an advertisement around 2013 to persuade Americans to support the ban of assault weapons in America. The advertisement got the point across about the danger of not banned assault weapons compared to a relatively harmless banned children s book, but fell short with the lettering, resulting in the lack of explanation for the ad. The image contains two elementary age girls sitting on the ground facing the camera. These two girls are different races. The African American girl holds a copy of Little Riding Hood in her hands facing the camera. The Caucasian girl is holding a massive assault gun that appears to be almost as big as she is. • 28. Rhetorical Analysis Of The Backlash Against Serial And... Rhetorical Analysis In his passionately written article The Backlash Against Serial and Why It s Wrong, author Conor Friedersdorf comes to the podcast s defense following the harsh criticisms that have been thrown at Serial since its debut. Serial is a spinoff series from parent podcast This American Life, which details the investigation and reinvestigation of a brutal 1999 murder involving high school lovers of the Baltimore area. Friedersdorf s piece not only comes to defend Serial s honor, but it also fights back and grapples with these disparagements thrown at the podcast. In particular, the accused transgressions from fellow writers Jay Caspian Kang in his own work Serial and White Reporter Privilege and Jeff Yang s post from Quartz. In my judgement, Friedersdorf does an excellent job refuting Kang s and Yang s opposing views and persuading his audience that Serial is innocent of the accused wrongdoings. What are these wrongdoings you ask? Kang claims that Serial is not so much about the cold case it is investigating, but more so the producer and narrator, Sarah Koenig s, fixation on the case. He also believes that while Koenig may be well intentioned, she is interpreting and making assumptions on facts of the lives of people within minority communities involved with the case. Another writer, Yang asserts that This American Life s method of narrative journalism displays cultural clumsiness (Yang qtd. Friedersdorf). Friedersdorf argues that these allegations ...
