Self Interpretive Essay
Anne Riley Laid Off: One of the most interesting topics covered in class for me was that of emotions
and moods. I have a hard time understanding when and how to express my emotions. This has been a
real problem for me in all of my relationships, both professional and personal. Though I have never
been laid off I feel I relate to the case of Anne Riley to some degree. Anne was able to better
understand and recognize her emotions and in the long run benefited from that knowledge. The case
begins with Anne Riley meeting with a recruiter from Goldman Sachs Private Equity Group. She is
hoping that this interview will eventually pay off with a permanent job upon her graduation.
Throughout the case many descriptive words were used so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The case describes her determination and hard work. Raised by her mother Anne began earning her
own money at the age of 15. Anne was the first in her family to attend college and graduated with a
Bachelor of Science degree with a focus in finance. She understood from a young age that work
offered a direct payoff; the harder she worked the bigger her reward in the end. Anne, like me, had
goals for her life. She had a direction and path she wanted to follow and knew what she had to do to
get there. She had chosen a career in private equity and knew that a person with these aspirations spent
a few years after college working and moving up within a firm before attending school. Anne was
offered a position with Storrow after a rough interview process. Anne soon relocated to a new city
leaving her family, friends, and life behind her in New York. Being confident in her goals and plans
Anne found a nice apartment, furnished it, and began a small family (adopted a dog). Like Anne, I too
relocated to a new city in order to pursue my current job. I moved quickly leaving behind friends and
relationships I had come to cherish. I moved into an apartment with my small family not knowing the
area or anyone near us. I too felt confident in myself and knew I would be here for a while moving up
in my career. I have invested in my education because I know that if I aspire to provide for my family
I will need an education. I also will

Hero My Mom
The Super Hero I Call Mom
My mother occupies a special place in my heart that can never be replaced. She became pregnant with
me at the age of nineteen. Being a young, single mother, she had to overcome difficult obstacles to get
us to where we are today. Life was tough and there were many times where she just wanted to give up,
but she was determined to turn her life around for the better. She ingrained a lifetime worth of advice
into my head but it was her actions that taught me that the struggles I will face now will make me
stronger in the end.
As a senior in high school, my mother was the colonel of the drill team and was preparing for college
when life threw a major curve ball her way. Once she realized she was pregnant with me, she had to
change her lifestyle entirely. With no support, financially or emotionally from my father, my mother
had to do it all on her own. This greatly affected my mother because even to this day she is still
playing a role as both a mother and father figure, and has never complained or failed to follow through
with any of her responsibilities. Raising me was especially hard for my mother because she lacked
financial stability. There were times when she didn t even have enough money for a bottle of formula.
Her parents allowed her to stay at home with them but she was required to pay rent in exchange for
my grandmother babysitting me while she worked as receptionist at a local chemical plant.
Working at the chemical plant and seeing her

British Colonization Of India
The other main region of the globe we see the harmful effects of colonization is the Indian
subcontinent. By the beginning of the 18th century, British influence in India was primarily limited to
a few trading outposts along the coast. During the 1750s, the British began to conquer most of
southern India. As time went on, the British conquered all of India, either through direct control or by
forcing leaders to become allies with them. In the early days of colonization, the main ruler of India
was not the British government but the East India Company who used India was a source of materials
that they would trade. Britain later took control of the East India Company and put India under the
control of the government. The British ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The 1935 Government Act of India proposes more governmental reforms and allows for an assembly
made up of Indian but it is rejected by Indian nationalists who want dominion status granted to them
immediately. Beginning in 1946, the Muslim League begins to advocate for an independent Muslim
state, which causes widespread panic. India receives its independence from Great Britain in 1947 but
as their last major act the British governors separate India into two new countries: India and Pakistan.
Many people are forced to leave their homes in order to get to the new country and refugees become
an issue in both countries. Widespread fighting breaks out along the borders as people try to get to the
country that corresponds with their religion. The new governments struggle to agree on who will get
what parts of the natural resources, military and financial resources along with the regions of Jammu
and Kashmir. Great Britain sold Kashmir to a maharajah during the colonial era and as they were
withdrawing, gave him the option to going to either country. Most other states sided with religions but
Kashmir was ruled by a Hindu yet had a predominantly Muslim population. The maharajah hesitates
and is forced to leave the region. He signs over the territory to India and Pakistan sends troops to
protect the Muslims in that area. War breaks out and continues for three years until a ceasefire is
declared and

Analysis Of The Book By Neal Shusterman
Unwind by Neal Shusterman is a science fiction novel that is taken place after a civil war in the future.
The war is know as the Heartland War, which is fought over abortion. The war reached a compromise
after both sides agreed to allow parents to sign an order form for their children between the ages of 13
and 18 years old to be unwound. The Setting takes place in three major locations. First The Forest
after the accident on the highway, Connor, Risa, and Lev escape into the dense forest. Second The
Graveyard an old airplane hanger, witch homes hundreds of AWOL Unwinds. The unwinds work in
exchange for complete protection from the outside. Finally, Happy Jack s Harvest Camp Ronald sells
out Connor and Risa, as well as himself, and they are taken to the unwind camp. The camp is full of
color and uplifting music, but the children are dark and gloomy. The camp is known as Hell
masquerading as Heaven (268). Connor Lassiter was a rebelling adolescent teen who s behavior was
not accepted. Throughout his childhood his parents saw him as a Nuisance but he knew he was
something more. Connor is portrayed as a terrible kid to many people, including his girlfriend s
parents. Ariana s parents don t like Connor. We always knew he d be an Unwind, (pg.14) When
Connor was looking for a stapler in his fathers desk, until he stumbled upon a Unwind Order Form

Love Sick Play Analysis
The theatrical performance Love Sick directed by the polished Mr. Landmann and performed by the
talented pupils of Desert Hot Springs High School is a fascinating play filled with entertaining,
amusing and even dramatic scenes. I attended this humorous play on October 27 at 3:30 pm, the first
play performed. The play is built off of nine separate acts all based upon the seek for authentic love.
The play was predominantly about nine separate acts which were all relatively similar. All acts have
distinct backgrounds, but they all involve the two characters striving for true love regardless if the two
just met or they have known each other for years. In my opinion, the play went along smoothly and
everything was comprehensible, but the only event

Hall Of Justice Analysis
During the conversation between Joe and Louis in Act II, Scene 7, Joe explains that the day before, he
accidentally showed up for work at the Hall of Justice on a Sunday. Due to the fact that the Hall is
closed on Sundays, Joe arrived to discover a deserted courthouse and panicked, thinking, The whole
Hall of Justice, it s empty, it s deserted, it s gone out of business. Forever (Kushner 78). Although it
was deserted simply due to the fact that it was Sunday, the empty Hall of Justice symbolizes freedom.
Specifically, this can be seen when Joe states, It would be...heartless terror. Yes. Terrible, and...Very
great. To shed your skin, every old skin, one by one and then walk away, unencumbered, into the
morning (Kushner 78 79). This shows that an empty Hall of Justice would ... Show more content on

In turn, individuals would then have the freedom to determine their own beliefs regarding justice. This
can be seen when Joe states, I just wondered what a thing it would be...if overnight everything you
owe anything to, justice, or love, had really gone away. Free (Kushner 78), which again shows that an
empty Hall of Justice symbolizes freedom from both the Hall and the idea of justice itself. Aside from
this point in the play, the subject of justice had been brought up twice before. Immediately preceding
Joe s description of an empty Hall of Justice, in Act II, Scene 6, Joe had struggled with the concepts of
justice and ethics when contemplating accepting the job offer Roy had provided him with.
Specifically, Roy obtained the opportunity to join the Justice Department in Washington, D.C. in order
to help prevent Roy from becoming disbarred. Upon realizing this, Joe proclaims, Even if I said yes to
the job, it would be illegal to interfere. With the hearings. It s unethical. No. I can t (Kushner 73),
realizing that accepting the job opportunity would make him obligated to act unjustly according to the
law and ethics. In response, Roy argues, I must have eyes in

Examples Of Id Ego And Superego In Lord Of The Flies
Sigmund Freud created the structural model of personality that describes the id, ego, and superego
parts of a person. Id is represented as the devil and based on the pleasure and benefiting themselves.
Ego is the angel and devil together, where there is balance of good and bad. Lastly, superego is shown
as the angel with good behavior and morals. In Golding s book Lord of the Flies, he uses Jack, Ralph,
and Piggy to represent Sigmund Freud s theory of the three personalities: id, ego, and superego.
Throughout the book, it can be noticed that Jack has the id personality. He wants to kill the pigs not
for the benefit of the group, but for himself. He can also be seen as the devil because of how he acts.
When Ralph and Jack were talking to each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the group were discussing about the fire, Piggy says, Cos the smoke s a signal and we can t be
rescued if we don t have smoke (173). Piggy is working to help out the boys by trying to inform them
about their situation, and how they can fix it together. Piggy is the voice of reason out of all the boys
by telling them how things will affect them as a group, and that is just like how the superego tells the
ego on how the action will influence society. Piggy always wants what is best for the group, and wants
them all to get off the island safely. When the group decided to move the fire from the mountain,
Golding describes, Piggy was so full of delight and expanding liberty in Jack s departure, so full of
pride in his contribution to the good of society, that he helped to fetch wood (129). Piggy wants to
guide the boys on the right path of survival, and enjoys when he is able to help. His involvement in
book by helping Ralph and the other boys is based on the focus of the superego to help the needs of
society.
Golding s Lord of the Flies takes the structural model of personality and uses it to represent Jack,
Ralph, and Piggy in the novel. He uses them to show how they interact with each other in society. He
wants the readers to understand that the id makes decisions and actions that feels good for themselves,
and not for others. The superego wants to help out society, and follow good morals, but often gets
overpowered and ignored by the id. Lasty, the ego is a balance of the two, and listens to both the
superego and the

Cultural Capital And Inequality
Cultural capital and field results in inequality for a number of reasons. Cultural capital has to do with
capital resources such as skills learned and specific knowledge pertaining to certain subjects. It also
has to do with skills and behaviors learned at home. Field has to do with a social institution such as a
school. These two things result in inequality because of the way children are brought up and how
involved they are in social institutions. When a child is involved in a multitude extracurricular
activities, they are more likely to succeed in school because they have a more stable schedule and not
as much free time so they are forced to learn time management. Often times schools favor middle
class cultural capital because middle class

Introduction And Objective Of Chapter B Unit 1 Lesson 8
Semester B Unit 1 Lesson 8
Introduction and Objective
Every story has a plot. The plot consist of an exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and a
resolution (or some call the denouement which means end. ) How the author unfold the story plot is
unique to each author. Understanding how a particular story unfolds is important in being able to
comprehend the setting, theme, tone, mood and central ide(s) of the story.
Today s lesson objective is:
Students will be able to describe how the plot of a particular story unfolds.
A story is not labeled exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and a resolution. However, if we
know what each part of the plot is, then we know can know if it is in the beginning of the story, the
middle or the end. Breakdown what you have read so far in The Giver analyzing what happened in the
beginning and middle so far. What parts of the story plot do you think are to come next? List some
things that make a plot exciting to you.
Open your digital notebook and describe your strategy and the reading skills you will use to succeed
in this lesson.

Characteristics Of Becoming A Man
What does becoming a man mean? When would you say someone has become a man? Becoming a
man means, according to Merriam Webster, one possessing in high degree the qualities considered
distinctive of manhood; such as courage, strength, and vigor. To me becoming a man doesn t happen at
a certain age, but I think it happens at a time when you possess manhood traits. In the Wake Tech
Reader, Rodriguez talks about the independence children want when they grow up in his essay Family
Values. From what I ve learned growing up, becoming a man means having responsibility, being self
dependent, being financially stable to support yourself and possibly others, and having the toughness
and grit to get through anything that gets in your way. If you asked me what the most important
qualities of becoming a man was, I d probably easily come back and say that responsibility is. When
you become a man you have a lot of things your responsible to take care and do every so often. You
have to be responsible enough to pay your bills and dues on time. You can t just forget things
anymore, so you got to be on top of your game and have a schedule to get all your tasks done every
day. As Winston Churchill once said, The price for greatness is responsibility. To be a successful man
you need to be responsible for your actions and everything you do. You shouldn t have to be told to do
something and that s a part of the new responsibilities that you have. Responsibility is one of the main
qualities of being a man and without it some men may not be able to handle what happens in life. As I
stated earlier, Rodriguez says kids these days are independent from their parents when they leave
home. What immigrants know, what my parents certainly know, is that when you come to this country,
you risk losing your children. Rodriguez is saying that it s a known fact that some kids grow up and
come very independent with their family and in some cases don t come back and stay dependent of
themselves. He also states that America encourages you to Become your own man. Becoming
independent is probably the first step in becoming a man. You don t have your parents doing things for
you so you need to start relying on yourself for everything you need.

Tax Havens And Its Effects On America
In addition to allowing corporations to store billions of untaxed dollars, tax havens are also used to
support dictators and undemocratic societies. All dictators like Muammar Gaddafi have had billions of
dollars stashed in tax havens all around the world. Tax havens are also used as the principal route
through which laundered money escapes developing countries. (Palan)
The reason tax havens exist, is for the same reason why they existed 50 years ago; to attract money
and investments from around the world. When multibillion dollar corporations put billions of dollars
in the banking system, it gives the local economy of that country a little boost. That stored in the
banks can now be lent out to people to buy homes, cars, or even start a ... Show more content on

Corporations have gone far too long without paying taxes. It s easy to recognize that the main
objective of corporations is to make more profit regardless of how it s done. This greed brought on by
the top companies in the world has cost America $100 billion a year. If these companies would like to
take advantage of the biggest market in the world, then they should respect the laws put in place for
that country. With that being said, we the people, who buy these products, must make a stand and
demand that these companies operate fairly. We know how much money is being lost, where it s being
stashed, and what countries are helping this happen. As the most powerful country in the world we
must take a lead and implement new international policies that will make corporate tax evasion
something of the past.
Even with all these reasons on why corporate tax evasions are bad, there are still some arguments
saying that the current tax system is fine as it is. These arguments usually derive from the fear of
change. People are scared of the actions that these companies will take in order to counter act the new
law set by the government.
The main argument comes for allowing tax evasion is that corporate tax evasion makes products
cheaper for consumers. While this is a possibility, it also doesn t make sense. The whole reason
corporations evade taxes in the first place, is to make as much profit as possible. So why would these
corporations

Watch House Shift
On the 16th of February 2018, I participated in the Walk in Their Shoes Program and completed a
watch house shift at the Moonee Ponds Police Station. I reported to Acting Sergeant Jessica
GRAHAM who was my supervisor for the shift and worked alongside Senior Constable Michael
BECKER. These members provided me with insight and information on what a typical watch house
shift would entail.
Similarities between the roles of a PSO and police member include; their strong focus towards safety,
demonstrating a high level of communication, building community engagement by establishing
rapport with people in culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, deterring anti social
behaviour, dealing with people impaired by drugs and alcohol and responding to incidents and
emergencies.
Both roles are similar as they are constantly in the public eye and therefore, all members must share
the same principles to follow the core organisational values and ethics enshrined by Victoria Police.
During my watch house shift I was able to distinguish key differences between the two roles. I found

Benefits Of Financial Activity Tracking
It is quite important to track your financial activities in order to create efficient budgets. Activity
tracking also allows you to generate better models of spending your money and ensure that you are
able to improve your financial habits. There are various benefits of financial activity tracking. These
benefits have given rise to the use of automated financial managers in the modern times.
Here, we understand the need for tracking financial activities and then look at a few important
solutions that are used these days in order to carry out activity tracking in an ideal manner.
The Need for Financial Activity Tracking
You can only take the right financial decisions if you understand the need for using a tool for rightly
tracking your financial activities. There are many points that stress on the need for using financial
activity tracking. Some of the important ones are the following:
Financial activity tracking allows people to monitor how they are spending. This monitoring then
allows them to compare their actual performance with the budget allocations that they set up at the
start of a month.
It also allows you to revise your initial budget and create a new plan. The creation of a new plan
allows you to manage your finances in a more realistic manner. Midterm revisions in your budget also
allow you to learn your spending habits and create better monthly budgets in the future.
An activity tracking tool is also ideal, because it can be effectively used as a training

Holes By Louis Sachar Analysis
The two songs used in the book Holes by Louis Sachar have two slightly different meanings. The text
states If only, if only, the woodpecker sighs, (8). This is from the first song and it explains how the
meaning of the first song is if only things were a little different. The woodpecker in the song is
wishing and dreaming that something would be different. The first song has a meaning of longing and
wishing. The text says Fly high, my baby bird (233). This is from the second song and it shows that
the meaning of the second song is to fly high and live your life. It means that you are strong and you
can just fly and live. The bird in this song is flying away and going it s own way. These songs both

John Trump Short Biography
Donald John Trump was born on June 14, 1946, in Queens, a borough of New York City.[4][5][6][7]
He is the fourth of five children to Mary Anne (née MacLeod; 1912 2000), a homemaker and
philanthropist,[8] and Fred Trump (1905 1999), who worked as a real estate developer. His mother
was born at Tong on the Scottish island of Lewis.[9] In 1930, aged 18, she visited the United States
and met Fred Trump. They were married in 1936 and settled in Jamaica Estates, Queens, and Fred
Trump eventually became one of the city s biggest real estate developers.[8][10] Trump has one living
brother, Robert (born 1948), and two living sisters: Maryanne (born 1937) and Elizabeth (born 1942).
Maryanne is a United States federal judge on senior status for the United States Court of Appeals for

Profitability
Financial ratios reflects the level of the company s profit relative to sales (Titan, 2012, p. 151). In
other words, this is a company s capability of generating profits from its operations. Profitability is
one of four building blocks for analysing financial statements and company performance as a whole.
The balance sheet contains assets that the business owns and which is used in the business for the
purpose of generating profit (Jessop, 2017). See Appendix A, figure II. To determine profitability for
Wesfarmers, we will look at the Net Profit Margin, Return on Investment and the Return on Equity
using DuPont Analysis.
Net Profit Margin
The Net Profit Margin expresses the net after tax profits of an organisation as a percentage of sales
(Titan, 2012, p. 155). The net profit margin for Wesfarmers and Woolworths is computed as follows in

Metaphors In Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God
Throughout the Eighteenth Century, religion fought a battle against science and those who
did not stand with the church were not looked at as ethical people. In the sense that they could not
possibly be good people if the did not live for God instead of themselves. Atheists were not the only
group of people who were disliked even Quakers and Jews who did not share the same God were
looked down upon. Jonathan Edwards made the message clear in his sermon that those who did not
go to church and live for God were enemies of God. The church and its followers started to make the
idea known to others that God would send them to hell for entirety unless they came back to God as
quickly as possible and repented. In his famous sermon Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God .
Jonathan Edwards puts fear in all those who do not follow the word of God by talking about hell and
the punishment that unrepentant humans deserve. His metaphors including those about hell, the wrath
of God and the unworthiness of humans is successful in scaring the unrepentant to turn back to God
and as for forgiveness.
In one metaphor Edwards creates a clear image for his congregation when he explains that
unrepentant sinners are like heavy lead plunging toward hell without the help of God.
Edwards writes, Your wickedness makes you as it were heavy as lead, and to tend downwards with
great weight and pressure towards hell; and if God should let you go, you would immediately sink and

The Dilemma Of Batman
There is a video game called Injustice Gods Among Us where the main plot of the game is based
around the dilemma of is it morally right killing criminals. In the game, the character Joker
manipulates Superman s mind into killing his wife and unborn son by thinking they are one of
Superman s enemies. The Joker also set a nuclear bomb to detonate in Superman s town of Metropolis
when his wife and child die. After the bomb explodes, the Joker is placed into police custody and is
being interrogated by Batman. While being interrogated, Superman comes busting into the jail
wanting to kill the Joker. He and Batman got into an argument based around the fact that they both
had a moral rule that no criminal deserves to die at their hands, including the Joker. Superman states
that the Joker and other likeminded individuals are irredeemable and that their victims deserve justice.
While Batman argues that Superman and other superheroes are not above the law, and that Superman
cannot act as judge, jury, and executioner. The dilemma of the story is based around the question, is it
right to take another s life, no matter how many people an individual has killed? Batman believes that
killing anyone is morally wrong, when Superman believes that killing criminals is morally correct.
Both Consequentialist and Deontologist would view this predicament differently. After the death of his
wife and son, Superman understands why there are people in the world that want to see criminals die.

The Battle Of Verdun
The battle of Verdun has been called the longest and most destructive battle of World War I.
During the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries the field artillery saw many
improvements and technological advancements. Technological advancements like the 1881 MK12 1
pounder which introduced the self contained shell, rear breach loader, and the hydro spring recoil
mechanism. All field guns and howitzers there after followed the same or improved designs until
further technological advancements were developed in the middle of the 20th century. Throughout
World War I the field artillery was an essential asset used to destroy enemy trenches, knock out other

Both sides acknowledged the fact that artillery was the number one threat to the infantry. Preparations
were drawn up for what would later be known as the Battle of Verdun code named Judgement by the
Germans. On 21 February 1916 both sides amassed along a 25 mile front and in between them the
small but strategically important town of Verdun. Judgement started with a nine hour bombardment
using 1,200 artillery pieces firing over
1,000,000 shells. There was a standard gauge railway line that ran through Verdun which was called
Voie Sacree . This railway shipped over 2.5 million shells to the forefront. The Germans had advanced
several miles and had overrun the first two French defensive lines just three days after the initial
bombardment. Artillery would fire shells and the 3rd, 7th, and 8th Infantry would follow closely
behind the Artillery s impacting shells until they reached their objective. Once the infantry came upon
their objectives, artillery would stop firing and the infantry would overrun their objectives. This

How does the stability/instability of funding shape the nature of activities that international
organizations choose to engage in? How has the trend of increasing extra budgetary funds affected the
general international climate on development (issues of competition, overlapping mandates etc.)?
What are the implications of contract based funding for the culture, institutional memory and staffing
of international organizations?

How the stability/instability of funding shape the nature of activities of international organizations
The funding sources for IOs are not exactly the same. While some depend on regular budgetary
contributions, others depend on voluntary contributions for the fulfillment of their mandates. In either
ways, the flow of funds could be stable or not stable. The stability or instability of these funds could
affect the nature of activities IOs choose to do in several ways: it could affect the execution of
mandates, planning and timing of programs, and sustainability. First, the flow and availability of funds
is the life blood of very IO. Even though every IO designs the nature and type program of activities
based on its mandates for a given period, the implementation of such programs are dependent on the
availability of funds. Thus, the timing of the program implementation is tied to the availability of
funds. Programs with stable funds will be carried out on time and programs with delayed or no funds
will be delayed in implementation or not carried out at all. Therefore, which programs to carry out and
when to carry them out is dependent on the stability or instability of funds. Secondly, given the fact
that the stability or instability of funds are dependent on donors, donors capitalize on it to control the
types of activities that IOs engage in. Donors therefore attach

How Does Harry Potter Show Courage
In this unit on Myth and Legend we read many different themes including courage and strength,
compassion and sacrificial love, warning against vanity and gossip and tragic consequence. The one
theme that stuck with me is courage.
I feel that courage is important because if we don t teach that courage is a good thing then, we would
be stuck doing the same thing everyone else would be doing with only courageous enjoying life and
they would most likely control the people that do not have courage. some of the greatest inventions
happened on accident and some people discouraged them for inventing, but they still had enough
courage in themselves and their idea and made things that would change lives. Also amazing things

Alienation By Henrik Ibsen And Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe...
Alienation, through my personal views, is inevitable in the modern day. Our society has become so
adapt to depending on the individual to conform to the demanding expectations of our society. What
constitutes a life of alienation in my opinion is the inability to find meaning in the world and to
become a cog in the machine of our society, conforming to what is expected from us based off of
societal norms. This idea can best be highlighted through Henrik Ibsen s Hedda Gabler and Johann
Wolfgang von Goethe s Faust, which is illustrated through the main character s alienation based on
their inability to find meaning in their lives.
Alienation in Ibsen s Hedda Gabler is based particularly on personal alienation highlighted through
the main character Hedda. Hedda is the perfect representation of an alienated individual asserted
against a conventional society. Ibsen focuses particularly on the ownership of Hedda Gabler, from the
ownership of her father into the hands of George Tesman, to see Hedda to never be in complete
ownership of herself until she takes the matters into her own hands and claims her own life by
committing suicide at the end of the play. She is lost in a world where she no longer has anyone,
beside herself and her pistols, which she continually shoots off as these pistols can be seen to
dramatize Hedda s disconnect from the world and the frustrations she feels towards it. Arguably she
has nothing to look forward too, besides the continual hounding from George

Drones Technology Research Paper
CURRENT DRONES TECHNOLOGY 1.) Methane is a greenhouse gas that contributes to global
warming and inherently dangerous to human health. It can also be a potent energy source and a
potential indicator of life or life like activity. NASA uses the Open Path Laser Spectrometer with the
drones to detect methane gas leaks large and small (Atherton, 2016). 2.) Electric drones are often
limited to just 20 minutes of air time before they have to land and get new batteries, or wait for the old
batteries to charge. With hydrogen fuel cells, a commercial, electric drone could spend up to two hours
hanging in the sky, be refueled almost instantly after landing, and then take another 120 minutes in the
air. This flying contraption is the result of Intelligent Energy, who attached a hydrogen fuel cell to a
DJI Matrice 100 quadcopter. The fuel cell and its fuel weigh just 3.5 pounds, which is lighter than the
battery it replaces (Atherton, 2016). 3.) The first urban delivery in the United States by a fully

Slave Trade
In previous years, most Africans who have came to America were slaves who were purchased through
the international slave trade. White colonists viewed Africans as uncivilized and turned to the
international slave trade to fill their labor needs. The white English settlers knew nothing of any other
culture; people were thought to be white or Christian, anything else was uncivilized . Slavery served
for two purposes; a labor system and racial control in a white country.
The slave trade was important in building the colonial empires of European nations and in creating the
wealth that later produced the Industrial Revolution. Africans were being Europeanized and at the

When the English slave trade was given to individual entrepreneurs, it grew greatly.
Most slaves that came to English North America were from West Africa and most were still enslaved
in Angola. Slave activities in these areas were responsible for the population decrease. Once slaves
were captured, they would march to the sea in lines, like a train of people fastened together. Men,
women, children marched for weeks; some even attempted to commit suicide or die of hunger and
exhaustion. When they arrived to their destinations, they were placed in prison until it was time to be
inspected. The good slaves were separated from the ones who were imperfect; those rejected were
called Mackrons. This type of treatment was necessary because it s the process at which the slaves are
selected and bargained for. The psychological process attempted to take away their self respect and the
identities of the slaves. After a purchase was made, the slave would be marked with a hot iron
signifying the company whom purchased him or her, whether the Spanish, English, French, Dutch, or
Portugese. They would return to their area until a cargo would arrive. Some slaves would arrive in
canoes to the ships in the harbors. Most slaves would drown themselves. The stay on the ship was

The Civil War Of The United States Prisons
Brother against brother. This was the Civil War being summed up in just three words. Mike Wright
wrote, On both sides of the war, men and women were locked away in dark prisons or held in outdoor
camps under blistering sun and freezing snow. They were fed too little and lived and died under
primitive conditions. One would arguably say that the Northern prisons might feel a little more at
home than the Southern prisons, but this wasn t the case at all, the prisons on each side were both
poorly managed, overcrowded and full of diseases. The intentions of the prisons were not necessarily

During the early years of the war, the two sides frequently had prisoner exchanges, but that was
stopped by a decision made by U.S General Grant and Secretary of War, Stanton. They both thought
that it was pointless and using too much time and people. Robert H. Kellogg, who was a sergeant
major, described his entry as a prisoner into the camp on May 2nd, 1864: As we entered the place, a
spectacle met our eyes that almost froze our blood with horror, and made our hearts fail within us.
Before us were forms that had once been active and erect; stalwart men, now nothing but mere
walking skeletons, covered with filth and intensity of their feeling, exclaimed with earnestness. Can
this be hell? God protect us! and all thought that He alone could bring them out alive from so terrible a
place. In the center of the whole was a swamp, occupying about three or four acres of the narrowed
limits, and a part of this marshy place had been used by the prisoners as a sink, and excrement covered
the ground, the scent arising from which was suffocating. The ground allotted to our ninety was near
the edge of this plague spot, and how we were to live through the warm summer weather in the midst
of such fearful surroundings, was more than we cared to think of just then. Andersonville is a southern
camp that could easily be compared to concentration camps,. Henry Wirz, in charge of Andersonville,

The Pros And Cons Of Immigration In America
There always has to be a restriction on immigration as the U.S can t handle millions of immigrants
that are either crime ridden, diseased, or just poverty stricken people but are sure to let in immigrants
who are seeking opportunity. During the 18 19 centuries, immigrants from around the world wanted to
come to America as it was the land of opportunity. Presidents like Woodrow Wilson set the bar for
immigration as he was a supporter of restriction but not selection. The U.S does not need these type of
people in the country as they give no benefit to the U.S. Of course not every immigrant is crime ridden
or diseased but that s why the U.S made special tests which can sift out the unacceptable immigrants
who will have a negative effect on the U.S and bring in the acceptable immigrants who could enhance
the U.S. As Woodrow Wilson once said, we have generously kept our doors open to all who were not
unfitted by reason of disease or incapacity for self support or such personal records and antecedents as
were likely to make them a menace to our peace and order or to the wholesome and essential
relationships of life. (Wilson Doc B). As many others wanted to pass a bill for immigrants to take a
test of their education but President Wilson rejected the bill as it was unfair to the immigrants as some
mainly come to the U.S for education. There still must be tests that not select certain immigrants but
restrict immigrants who are unfit to come into this country. There s a difference

Report On Chemical Composition And Structure Of Csh

Report on Chemical composition and Structure of CSH

Introduction:
The C S H gel is the most abundant reaction product in cement, occupying about half of the paste
volume, it is also responsible for most of the properties of cement paste. This is just not because it is a
strong or stable phase but because it forms a continuous layer that binds the cement particles together.
All the other hydration products of cement form discrete crystals that are naturally strong but do not
have good connections to the solid phases they are in contact with hence cannot contribute much to
the overall strength of the cement paste. C S H gel gets the ability of the to act as a binding phase from
its nanometer level structure.
As C S H gel grows outward from the cement particles, it does not form a single large block or
monolithic solid phase but instead develops a complex internal system of tiny pores, called gel pores.
Gel pores are hundreds or thousands of times smaller than the original capillary pores which are
relatively large. The liquid water present in the gel pores is not part of the solid C S H phase
chemically but it is physically isolated, thus it cannot undergo any further chemical reaction with the
cement.
When hydrated cement paste is observed under microscope at moderate level of magnification, we
could see two apparently different types of C S H gel. One of these gel is less dense and more porous
that appears to occupy

Analysis Of Sylvia Plath s Daddy
Sylvia Plath s poem Daddy a sixteen five line stanza is about Plath s father and the darkness and
brutality of male dominance. Plath incorporates a very dark and meaningful storyboard to describe her
feelings towards her father. Creating a figurative image for the readers, in second person, it is clearly
understood that she is unhappy to be alive. Sylvia Plath s use of various elements of poetry dramatizes
her internal battle with societal patriarchy and male dominance. The use of metaphors in the poem
combines unrelated things into a big meaning. In addition, the use of symbolism builds an abstract
concept in the poem. Finally, the use of imagery binds together the poem, into an organized vivid
picture. Daddy is Plath s best work; it leaves the reader in understanding the brutality and the hatred
women received from men during that time. Firstly, Plath s use of metaphors in the poem, builds the
poem a character and a deep meaning in regard to her father, whose image has been haunting Plath her
whole life. Using a metaphor of a black shoe and her as a foot that lives in it, Plath creates a deep
meaning to the representation of her father. Any more, black shoe, in which I have lived like a foot, for
thirty years, poor and white (705). In addition, the black shoe was a representation of the societal
patriarchy of the time that did not let the poet live freely under her own terms. In this case there was
the image of her father, that haunted her and holding her back.

Out Of Grout Staining
When grout that is unsealed gets dirty, it can be tough to clean the grout due to the porous nature of
grout. The porous nature allows grout to quickly absorb liquids as well as dirt. Here are a few ways
you can try to get a stain out of grout on your unsealed stone floor. Sweep The Floor The first thing
you need to do is make sure that their is not any other dirt on the ground. It will get in the way of you
cleaning and removing the stain. Before you begin addressing the stain, you should either sweep or
vacuum your floor and remove any loose debris that is present. Even if you think your floor looks
clean, it is always a good idea to sweep or vacuum it because their could be dirt that you don t spot
present. Address The Stain The next thing you need to do is address the stain. First, you should take
baking soda and sprinkle it all over the area where the stain is. It should be applied thickly, so that in
the end all you see is a nice layer of baking soda instead of the stain. Once you have applied the

Music Has Impacted Our World
Music has impacted our world in many ways, and it does not start with us. It has its beginnings with
our ancestors. Music has not only been known for vocal or instrumental sounds combined in such a
way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion but also for a way that you can
express your emotions, aim social problems or entertainment. Music has been evolving since it was
first introduced to our world, and each era has had their own ups and downs with gender equalities,
racism, political problems, and acceptance of the society. For example, 1960s was a decade marred by
social unrest, civil rights injustice, and violence both home and abroad. These were some of the
factors that lead to a cultural revolution. During these times, we could see how many artists aimed at
these concerns through their lyrics, but the eighties had a big impact in our society. During this
decade, The United States felt more liberalistic, and New ideologies were presented to our society,
also Sex and drugs became the focus of many of the lyrics expressed by the artists. The eighties were a
different decade. People in The United States felt free to achieve anything that they would wanted to.
The 1980s reflected the beginning of a period of great income disparity and a focus on affluence was

According to Soviet sports training books I have read, the kinds of training depicted in the movie may
very well be accurate. There are only two things that may be a stretch: The first is the use of sparring
partners by Drago. The movie depicts Drago pummeling every one of his partners, sending them to
the canvas spitting up blood. This, of course, doesn t happen in real life, sparring partners are partners
not punching bags. The second thing about Drago s training that is questionable is his use of steroids
in the movie. Contrary to popular belief, this was not a wide spread practice and, in fact, it was
condemned by the government. Any athlete who was caught doing steroids, or any coach who
distributed them, were eliminated from the sports program. Soviet scientists and trainers knew that the
use of steroids only provided a quick boost in strength, and that continued use of them would cause
extensive injuries to the athlete. In short, the athlete would be injured so much that he would have
been able to train harder and achieve maximum performance without the drugs. In the movie s defense
though, the scene is relevant in the context that we all thought the Soviets were taking superior drugs
thus adding to our fear of them.

Abstract
Albert Bandura is one of the pioneers in the study of human development. His biographical
background lays a good foundation for the basis of his work as a psychologist. His social cognitive
theory will be examined in detail to highlight the effect that environment has on behavior. There are
four basic features to the theory introduced by Bandura that will be discussed; (1) observational
learning, (2) self regulation, (3) self efficacy, and (4) reciprocal determinism. All four features
combined will prove to offer a keen insight into the environmental aspect of our behavior.

The Current Water Usage Of The Refugee Settlement Essay
The Zambian Refugee Settlement in Mayukwayukwa, which established by the United Nations in
1966, currently has no system for harvesting rain water or for storing water in bulk. Zambia has a
monsoonal climate thus it receives all of its rain water in one small section of the year and is dry and
arid for the rest. This review will focus specifically on the water usage of the refugee settlement. This
area of research will prove to be invaluable for the specifications of the water harvesting and bulk
storage system as it will be the basis for which the required volumes of water are calculated. The
development of the Mayukwayukwa settlement will be stunted if they do not have access to sufficient
amounts of water for the refugees who live there or for the crops and animals. The objectives of this
paper are to assess the current water usage of the Mayukwayukwa Refugee Settlement and to predict
what the minimum volume is that will meet their basic requirements. The questions that I intend to
answer are: What is the current water usage of the refugee settlement in Mayukwayukwa? What is the
minimum volume that will meet the basic requirements of the people in the refugee settlement? An
accurate data set of water usage of the Refugee Settlement in Mayukwayukwa is impossible to find as
there have been no previous attempts to measure it for any reason. The total water usage of the
Mayukwayukwa Refugee Settlement is 64,240,000 Litres/Year. This total can be

  • 2. Self Interpretive Essay Anne Riley Laid Off: One of the most interesting topics covered in class for me was that of emotions and moods. I have a hard time understanding when and how to express my emotions. This has been a real problem for me in all of my relationships, both professional and personal. Though I have never been laid off I feel I relate to the case of Anne Riley to some degree. Anne was able to better understand and recognize her emotions and in the long run benefited from that knowledge. The case begins with Anne Riley meeting with a recruiter from Goldman Sachs Private Equity Group. She is hoping that this interview will eventually pay off with a permanent job upon her graduation. Throughout the case many descriptive words were used so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The case describes her determination and hard work. Raised by her mother Anne began earning her own money at the age of 15. Anne was the first in her family to attend college and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus in finance. She understood from a young age that work offered a direct payoff; the harder she worked the bigger her reward in the end. Anne, like me, had goals for her life. She had a direction and path she wanted to follow and knew what she had to do to get there. She had chosen a career in private equity and knew that a person with these aspirations spent a few years after college working and moving up within a firm before attending school. Anne was offered a position with Storrow after a rough interview process. Anne soon relocated to a new city leaving her family, friends, and life behind her in New York. Being confident in her goals and plans Anne found a nice apartment, furnished it, and began a small family (adopted a dog). Like Anne, I too relocated to a new city in order to pursue my current job. I moved quickly leaving behind friends and relationships I had come to cherish. I moved into an apartment with my small family not knowing the area or anyone near us. I too felt confident in myself and knew I would be here for a while moving up in my career. I have invested in my education because I know that if I aspire to provide for my family I will need an education. I also will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Hero My Mom The Super Hero I Call Mom My mother occupies a special place in my heart that can never be replaced. She became pregnant with me at the age of nineteen. Being a young, single mother, she had to overcome difficult obstacles to get us to where we are today. Life was tough and there were many times where she just wanted to give up, but she was determined to turn her life around for the better. She ingrained a lifetime worth of advice into my head but it was her actions that taught me that the struggles I will face now will make me stronger in the end. As a senior in high school, my mother was the colonel of the drill team and was preparing for college when life threw a major curve ball her way. Once she realized she was pregnant with me, she had to change her lifestyle entirely. With no support, financially or emotionally from my father, my mother had to do it all on her own. This greatly affected my mother because even to this day she is still playing a role as both a mother and father figure, and has never complained or failed to follow through with any of her responsibilities. Raising me was especially hard for my mother because she lacked financial stability. There were times when she didn t even have enough money for a bottle of formula. Her parents allowed her to stay at home with them but she was required to pay rent in exchange for my grandmother babysitting me while she worked as receptionist at a local chemical plant. • 4. British Colonization Of India The other main region of the globe we see the harmful effects of colonization is the Indian subcontinent. By the beginning of the 18th century, British influence in India was primarily limited to a few trading outposts along the coast. During the 1750s, the British began to conquer most of southern India. As time went on, the British conquered all of India, either through direct control or by forcing leaders to become allies with them. In the early days of colonization, the main ruler of India was not the British government but the East India Company who used India was a source of materials that they would trade. Britain later took control of the East India Company and put India under the control of the government. The British ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The 1935 Government Act of India proposes more governmental reforms and allows for an assembly made up of Indian but it is rejected by Indian nationalists who want dominion status granted to them immediately. Beginning in 1946, the Muslim League begins to advocate for an independent Muslim state, which causes widespread panic. India receives its independence from Great Britain in 1947 but as their last major act the British governors separate India into two new countries: India and Pakistan. Many people are forced to leave their homes in order to get to the new country and refugees become an issue in both countries. Widespread fighting breaks out along the borders as people try to get to the country that corresponds with their religion. The new governments struggle to agree on who will get what parts of the natural resources, military and financial resources along with the regions of Jammu and Kashmir. Great Britain sold Kashmir to a maharajah during the colonial era and as they were withdrawing, gave him the option to going to either country. Most other states sided with religions but Kashmir was ruled by a Hindu yet had a predominantly Muslim population. The maharajah hesitates and is forced to leave the region. He signs over the territory to India and Pakistan sends troops to protect the Muslims in that area. War breaks out and continues for three years until a ceasefire is declared and ... Love Sick Play Analysis The theatrical performance Love Sick directed by the polished Mr. Landmann and performed by the talented pupils of Desert Hot Springs High School is a fascinating play filled with entertaining, amusing and even dramatic scenes. I attended this humorous play on October 27 at 3:30 pm, the first play performed. The play is built off of nine separate acts all based upon the seek for authentic love. The play was predominantly about nine separate acts which were all relatively similar. • 7. Hall Of Justice Analysis During the conversation between Joe and Louis in Act II, Scene 7, Joe explains that the day before, he accidentally showed up for work at the Hall of Justice on a Sunday. Due to the fact that the Hall is closed on Sundays, Joe arrived to discover a deserted courthouse and panicked, thinking, The whole Hall of Justice, it s empty, it s deserted, it s gone out of business. Forever (Kushner 78). Although it was deserted simply due to the fact that it was Sunday, the empty Hall of Justice symbolizes freedom. Specifically, this can be seen when Joe states, It would be...heartless terror. Yes. Terrible, and...Very great. • 8. Examples Of Id Ego And Superego In Lord Of The Flies Sigmund Freud created the structural model of personality that describes the id, ego, and superego parts of a person. Id is represented as the devil and based on the pleasure and benefiting themselves. Ego is the angel and devil together, where there is balance of good and bad. Lastly, superego is shown as the angel with good behavior and morals. In Golding s book Lord of the Flies, he uses Jack, Ralph, and Piggy to represent Sigmund Freud s theory of the three personalities: id, ego, and superego. Throughout the book, it can be noticed that Jack has the id personality. He wants to kill the pigs not for the benefit of the group, but for himself. Piggy is the voice of reason out of all the boys by telling them how things will affect them as a group, and that is just like how the superego tells the ego on how the action will influence society. Piggy always wants what is best for the group, and wants them all to get off the island safely. When the group decided to move the fire from the mountain, Golding describes, Piggy was so full of delight and expanding liberty in Jack s departure, so full of pride in his contribution to the good of society, that he helped to fetch wood (129). Piggy wants to guide the boys on the right path of survival, and enjoys when he is able to help. His involvement in book by helping Ralph and the other boys is based on the focus of the superego to help the needs of society. Golding s Lord of the Flies takes the structural model of personality and uses it to represent Jack, Ralph, and Piggy in the novel. He uses them to show how they interact with each other in society. He wants the readers to understand that the id makes decisions and actions that feels good for themselves, and not for others. Cultural capital has to do with capital resources such as skills learned and specific knowledge pertaining to certain subjects. It also has to do with skills and behaviors learned at home. • 11. Characteristics Of Becoming A Man What does becoming a man mean? When would you say someone has become a man? Becoming a man means, according to Merriam Webster, one possessing in high degree the qualities considered distinctive of manhood; such as courage, strength, and vigor. To me becoming a man doesn t happen at a certain age, but I think it happens at a time when you possess manhood traits. In the Wake Tech Reader, Rodriguez talks about the independence children want when they grow up in his essay Family Values. From what I ve learned growing up, becoming a man means having responsibility, being self dependent, being financially stable to support yourself and possibly others, and having the toughness and grit to get through anything that gets in your way. If you asked me what the most important qualities of becoming a man was, I d probably easily come back and say that responsibility is. When you become a man you have a lot of things your responsible to take care and do every so often. You have to be responsible enough to pay your bills and dues on time. You can t just forget things anymore, so you got to be on top of your game and have a schedule to get all your tasks done every day. As Winston Churchill once said, The price for greatness is responsibility. To be a successful man you need to be responsible for your actions and everything you do. You shouldn t have to be told to do something and that s a part of the new responsibilities that you have. Responsibility is one of the main qualities of being a man and without it some men may not be able to handle what happens in life. As I stated earlier, Rodriguez says kids these days are independent from their parents when they leave home. What immigrants know, what my parents certainly know, is that when you come to this country, you risk losing your children. Rodriguez is saying that it s a known fact that some kids grow up and come very independent with their family and in some cases don t come back and stay dependent of themselves. He also states that America encourages you to Become your own man. Becoming independent is probably the first step in becoming a man. You don t have your parents doing things for you so you need to start relying on yourself for everything you need. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tax havens are also used as the principal route through which laundered money escapes developing countries. It s easy to recognize that the main objective of corporations is to make more profit regardless of how it s done. This greed brought on by the top companies in the world has cost America $100 billion a year. If these companies would like to take advantage of the biggest market in the world, then they should respect the laws put in place for that country. With that being said, we the people, who buy these products, must make a stand and demand that these companies operate fairly. We know how much money is being lost, where it s being stashed, and what countries are helping this happen. As the most powerful country in the world we must take a lead and implement new international policies that will make corporate tax evasion something of the past. Even with all these reasons on why corporate tax evasions are bad, there are still some arguments saying that the current tax system is fine as it is. These arguments usually derive from the fear of change. People are scared of the actions that these companies will take in order to counter act the new law set by the government. The main argument comes for allowing tax evasion is that corporate tax evasion makes products cheaper for consumers. While this is a possibility, it also doesn t make sense. What constitutes a life of alienation in my opinion is the inability to find meaning in the world and to become a cog in the machine of our society, conforming to what is expected from us based off of societal norms. This idea can best be highlighted through Henrik Ibsen s Hedda Gabler and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe s Faust, which is illustrated through the main character s alienation based on their inability to find meaning in their lives. Alienation in Ibsen s Hedda Gabler is based particularly on personal alienation highlighted through the main character Hedda. Hedda is the perfect representation of an alienated individual asserted against a conventional society. Ibsen focuses particularly on the ownership of Hedda Gabler, from the ownership of her father into the hands of George Tesman, to see Hedda to never be in complete ownership of herself until she takes the matters into her own hands and claims her own life by committing suicide at the end of the play. She is lost in a world where she no longer has anyone, beside herself and her pistols, which she continually shoots off as these pistols can be seen to dramatize Hedda s disconnect from the world and the frustrations she feels towards it. Arguably she has nothing to look forward too, besides the continual hounding from George ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Drones Technology Research Paper CURRENT DRONES TECHNOLOGY 1.) Methane is a greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming and inherently dangerous to human health. It can also be a potent energy source and a potential indicator of life or life like activity. NASA uses the Open Path Laser Spectrometer with the drones to detect methane gas leaks large and small (Atherton, 2016). 2.) Electric drones are often limited to just 20 minutes of air time before they have to land and get new batteries, or wait for the old batteries to charge. With hydrogen fuel cells, a commercial, electric drone could spend up to two hours hanging in the sky, be refueled almost instantly after landing, and then take another 120 minutes in the air. This flying contraption is the result of Intelligent Energy, who attached a hydrogen fuel cell to a DJI Matrice 100 quadcopter. The fuel cell and its fuel weigh just 3.5 pounds, which is lighter than the battery it replaces (Atherton, 2016). 3.) The first urban delivery in the United States by a fully autonomous drone was held in Hawthorne, Nevada. The drone was flown by drone delivery company Flirtey, which got it s start in 2013 in Australia, delivering textbooks to universities, before it moved to Nevada. Its six engine multicopter flew along a predetermined path. When it reached the target house, it lowered a package containing bottled water, emergency ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... White colonists viewed Africans as uncivilized and turned to the international slave trade to fill their labor needs. The white English settlers knew nothing of any other culture; people were thought to be white or Christian, anything else was uncivilized . Slavery served for two purposes; a labor system and racial control in a white country. The slave trade was important in building the colonial empires of European nations and in creating the wealth that later produced the Industrial Revolution. When the English slave trade was given to individual entrepreneurs, it grew greatly. Most slaves that came to English North America were from West Africa and most were still enslaved in Angola. Slave activities in these areas were responsible for the population decrease. Once slaves were captured, they would march to the sea in lines, like a train of people fastened together. Men, women, children marched for weeks; some even attempted to commit suicide or die of hunger and exhaustion. When they arrived to their destinations, they were placed in prison until it was time to be inspected. The good slaves were separated from the ones who were imperfect; those rejected were called Mackrons. This type of treatment was necessary because it s the process at which the slaves are selected and bargained for. The psychological process attempted to take away their self respect and the identities of the slaves. After a purchase was made, the slave would be marked with a hot iron signifying the company whom purchased him or her, whether the Spanish, English, French, Dutch, or Portugese. They would return to their area until a cargo would arrive. Some slaves would arrive in canoes to the ships in the harbors. Most slaves would drown themselves. Mike Wright wrote, On both sides of the war, men and women were locked away in dark prisons or held in outdoor camps under blistering sun and freezing snow. They were fed too little and lived and died under primitive conditions. One would arguably say that the Northern prisons might feel a little more at home than the Southern prisons, but this wasn t the case at all, the prisons on each side were both poorly managed, overcrowded and full of diseases. The intentions of the prisons were not necessarily to kill the inmates, but because of poor planning were the prisons filthy. During the early years of the war, the two sides frequently had prisoner exchanges, but that was stopped by a decision made by U.S General Grant and Secretary of War, Stanton. They both thought that it was pointless and using too much time and people. Robert H. Kellogg, who was a sergeant major, described his entry as a prisoner into the camp on May 2nd, 1864: As we entered the place, a spectacle met our eyes that almost froze our blood with horror, and made our hearts fail within us. Before us were forms that had once been active and erect; stalwart men, now nothing but mere walking skeletons, covered with filth and intensity of their feeling, exclaimed with earnestness. Can this be hell? God protect us! and all thought that He alone could bring them out alive from so terrible a place. In the center of the whole was a swamp, occupying about three or four acres of the narrowed limits, and a part of this marshy place had been used by the prisoners as a sink, and excrement covered the ground, the scent arising from which was suffocating. The ground allotted to our ninety was near the edge of this plague spot, and how we were to live through the warm summer weather in the midst of such fearful surroundings, was more than we cared to think of just then. • 32. The Pros And Cons Of Immigration In America There always has to be a restriction on immigration as the U.S can t handle millions of immigrants that are either crime ridden, diseased, or just poverty stricken people but are sure to let in immigrants who are seeking opportunity. During the 18 19 centuries, immigrants from around the world wanted to come to America as it was the land of opportunity. Presidents like Woodrow Wilson set the bar for immigration as he was a supporter of restriction but not selection. The U.S does not need these type of people in the country as they give no benefit to the U.S. Of course not every immigrant is crime ridden or diseased but that s why the U.S made special tests which can sift out the unacceptable immigrants who will have a negative effect on the U.S and bring in the acceptable immigrants who could enhance the U.S. As Woodrow Wilson once said, we have generously kept our doors open to all who were not unfitted by reason of disease or incapacity for self support or such personal records and antecedents as were likely to make them a menace to our peace and order or to the wholesome and essential relationships of life. (Wilson Doc B). As many others wanted to pass a bill for immigrants to take a test of their education but President Wilson rejected the bill as it was unfair to the immigrants as some mainly come to the U.S for education. • 33. Report On Chemical Composition And Structure Of Csh CE 2020: Construction Materials Report on Chemical composition and Structure of CSH Arjit Soni ES13B1005 Introduction: The C S H gel is the most abundant reaction product in cement, occupying about half of the paste volume, it is also responsible for most of the properties of cement paste. This is just not because it is a strong or stable phase but because it forms a continuous layer that binds the cement particles together. All the other hydration products of cement form discrete crystals that are naturally strong but do not have good connections to the solid phases they are in contact with hence cannot contribute much to the overall strength of the cement paste. C S H gel gets the ability of the to act as a binding phase from its nanometer level structure. As C S H gel grows outward from the cement particles, it does not form a single large block or monolithic solid phase but instead develops a complex internal system of tiny pores, called gel pores. Gel pores are hundreds or thousands of times smaller than the original capillary pores which are relatively large. The liquid water present in the gel pores is not part of the solid C S H phase chemically but it is physically isolated, thus it cannot undergo any further chemical reaction with the cement. When hydrated cement paste is observed under microscope at moderate level of magnification, we could see two apparently different types of C S H gel. One of these gel is less dense and more porous that appears to occupy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Analysis Of Sylvia Plath s Daddy Sylvia Plath s poem Daddy a sixteen five line stanza is about Plath s father and the darkness and brutality of male dominance. Plath incorporates a very dark and meaningful storyboard to describe her feelings towards her father. Creating a figurative image for the readers, in second person, it is clearly understood that she is unhappy to be alive. Sylvia Plath s use of various elements of poetry dramatizes her internal battle with societal patriarchy and male dominance. The use of metaphors in the poem combines unrelated things into a big meaning. In addition, the use of symbolism builds an abstract concept in the poem. Finally, the use of imagery binds together the poem, into an organized vivid picture. Daddy is Plath s best work; it leaves the reader in understanding the brutality and the hatred women received from men during that time. Firstly, Plath s use of metaphors in the poem, builds the poem a character and a deep meaning in regard to her father, whose image has been haunting Plath her whole life. Using a metaphor of a black shoe and her as a foot that lives in it, Plath creates a deep meaning to the representation of her father. Any more, black shoe, in which I have lived like a foot, for thirty years, poor and white (705). In addition, the black shoe was a representation of the societal patriarchy of the time that did not let the poet live freely under her own terms. In this case there was the image of her father, that haunted her and holding her back. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sweep The Floor The first thing you need to do is make sure that their is not any other dirt on the ground. It will get in the way of you cleaning and removing the stain. Before you begin addressing the stain, you should either sweep or vacuum your floor and remove any loose debris that is present. Even if you think your floor looks clean, it is always a good idea to sweep or vacuum it because their could be dirt that you don t spot present. Address The Stain The next thing you need to do is address the stain. First, you should take baking soda and sprinkle it all over the area where the stain is. It should be applied thickly, so that in the end all you see is a nice layer of baking soda instead of the stain. Music has not only been known for vocal or instrumental sounds combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion but also for a way that you can express your emotions, aim social problems or entertainment. Music has been evolving since it was first introduced to our world, and each era has had their own ups and downs with gender equalities, racism, political problems, and acceptance of the society. For example, 1960s was a decade marred by social unrest, civil rights injustice, and violence both home and abroad. These were some of the factors that lead to a cultural revolution. During these times, we could see how many artists aimed at these concerns through their lyrics, but the eighties had a big impact in our society. During this decade, The United States felt more liberalistic, and New ideologies were presented to our society, also Sex and drugs became the focus of many of the lyrics expressed by the artists. The eighties were a different decade. People in The United States felt free to achieve anything that they would wanted to. According to Soviet sports training books I have read, the kinds of training depicted in the movie may very well be accurate. There are only two things that may be a stretch: The first is the use of sparring partners by Drago. The movie depicts Drago pummeling every one of his partners, sending them to the canvas spitting up blood. This, of course, doesn t happen in real life, sparring partners are partners not punching bags. The second thing about Drago s training that is questionable is his use of steroids in the movie. Contrary to popular belief, this was not a wide spread practice and, in fact, it was condemned by the government. Any athlete who was caught doing steroids, or any coach who distributed them, were eliminated from the sports program. Soviet scientists and trainers knew that the use of steroids only provided a quick boost in strength, and that continued use of them would cause extensive injuries to the athlete. In short, the athlete would be injured so much that he would have been able to train harder and achieve maximum performance without the drugs. In the movie s defense though, the scene is relevant in the context that we all thought the Soviets were taking superior drugs thus adding to our fear of them. The Current Water Usage Of The Refugee Settlement Essay The Zambian Refugee Settlement in Mayukwayukwa, which established by the United Nations in 1966, currently has no system for harvesting rain water or for storing water in bulk. Zambia has a monsoonal climate thus it receives all of its rain water in one small section of the year and is dry and arid for the rest. This review will focus specifically on the water usage of the refugee settlement. This area of research will prove to be invaluable for the specifications of the water harvesting and bulk storage system as it will be the basis for which the required volumes of water are calculated. The development of the Mayukwayukwa settlement will be stunted if they do not have access to sufficient amounts of water for the refugees who live there or for the crops and animals.
