Piet Mondrian Research Paper
t is hard to believe that we are already back from spring break! We have been very busy in the art
room over the past few weeks. Here is an overview of all the hard work that has been happening.
Kindergarten students have been working on several projects to guide their study of colors and
many master artists. In their first project, student s blended colors from the warm and cool color
groups to design a background for their Andy Warhol inspired handprint compositions. Throughout
the unit students also practiced cutting, gluing, tracing and drawing skills. Next, students created
large scale work based on the art of Piet Mondrian. Mondrian s work can be easily recognized by
his use of only primary colors and geometric shapes. For this unit, students carefully crafted a
composition using a variety of shapes and lines. In the upcoming weeks, students will begin work

Students started the unit by learning paper folding techniques to construct a book using only one
sheet of paper. Next, students developed their stories and sketched a layout for each page. Students
were able to choose a medium of their choice to develop their sketches into detailed illustrations.
Finally, students created a cover that captured the subject of the book using collage techniques.
Starting this week, students will be working with a variety of mediums which they manipulate to
create a three dimensional space themed sculpture.
Second grade students have just begun a new robot themed unit in which they will learn
printmaking, drawing, and painting techniques. First students will explore printmaking techniques
using a variety of object to create an interesting composition. Next, student will practice painting
techniques to add color and value to their design. Finally, students will continue their study of value
by using colored pencils to add highlights and

A Brief Review Of The Star Spangled Banner
The nationa anthem of the U.S. is The Star Spangled Banner. The song was originally a poem,
written by lawyer and amateur poet Francis Scott Key during the War of 1812. On September 3,
1814, while the war still raged, Francis Scott Key boarded a British ship near Baltimore,
Maryland. President James Madison had given the lawyer permission to try to persuade two
British officers to release an American prisoner.Key might have overheard plans for an overnight
attack on Fort McHenry in Baltimore. They decided to keep Key until after the battle was over. Key
waited on board the British ship, anxious about how the battle would turn out. In the morning, he
saw that the American flag continued to fly above the fort. The U.S. had won the battle. At

Zinc s Four Levels
Zinc has an atomic structure of 4 levels. As shown above, these are the 4 shells.
The four levels display their individual energy, overall adding up to the atomic number of 30. This
can be seen below.
First energy level: 2
Second energy level: 8
Third energy level: 18
Fourth energy level: 2
Total energy level: 30
Where is Zinc located in the Periodic Table ???
Zinc can be found in Period 1 and Group 4 on the periodic table ( In red at the bottom)
This is because of the atomic number that zinc contains and therefore that is why zinc is placed in
that order in the periodic table

The elemental symbol for Zinc is Zn, however the compound Zinc Sulphate has the formula of
ZnSO4.
The number of uses of Zinc in element and compound form
There are many uses of zinc in both elemental and compound form.
A major use for zinc metal is its industrial use. Zinc is involved in the galvanising process of iron
as well as steel s resistance to a chemical reaction made in the environment known as corrosion.
Alternatively, zinc is also used for medicinal purposes. It is the most essential chemical for human
functioning. Zinc sulphate also plays the same role as the normal element zinc
Zinc is a shiny silvery and bluish element.
Zinc can be used together with many other elements to form alloys. For example, Brass is an alloy
of zinc and copper mixed together.
Most air changes (discolours) zinc. However, with a thin layer of a coating, the zinc cannot be
oxidised.
There is little evidence for the Greeks showing that they had known of the existence of zinc . They
also claim that the called the zinc false silver , but had a reasoning that they could not produce

History Of Development Of The Two Year College
The history of the development of the two year college as presented by Cohen and Brawer (1987,
2003), Dougherty (1994), Townsend and Twombly (2001), and Hutcheson (1999) indicates that
most two year institutions started out as junior colleges, providing the first two years of a bachelor
s degree for those living in rural areas without nearby universities and a chance to explore options
for those who were undecided about their careers. From the first community collegeestablished in
1901 in Joliet, Illinois (Dougherty 1994), the number of community colleges across the United
States multiplied until the 1980s. After World War II the GI Bill of Rights promised returning
veterans access to higher education. In the 1960s the Johnson Administration used the community
collegeas a key weapon in its War On Poverty, supporting growth to the extent that by late in the
decade, a new community college opened every week (Nystrand and Duffy 10). With the Center for
Educational Statistics showing enrollments of over 2.1 million students in 654 community colleges
as of 1970, more students were beginning their college careers at two year community colleges than
at their four year counterparts, and by 1980 more than 4.5 million students were enrolled in
community colleges (Brint and Karabel 198). Local school and other government officials were
motivated to support the establishment of community colleges to meet the needs of business, the
demands of families for affordable

Lutheranism View Of The Trinity
The basis of every Christian belief is the identity and nature of God. One cannot understand
anything else until he comprehends these two items. Since they are so crucial to everything else, it
is necessary to understand where Lutheranism stands on this matter. At its core, Lutheranism views
God as the father in a parent child relationship (Jacobs 510). He is not a hateful or malicious God,
but one that seeks the benefit of His creation through Christ, whom the Scriptures reveal (510).
Because Lutheranism views God through the context of Christ, it also adheres to the traditional
view of the Trinity. The Trinity is the idea of God existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and
the Holy Spirit(Cross 1562). Lutheranism holds to this position

CENSORSHIP OF ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
Introduction. Communication system of society is changing rapidly with the time. In ancient
ages people use to communicate with shouting. If people are much more apart from one another
the letter writing was the only means of communication just before 500 years. Due to rapid
development of science, now a days a message can be passed to millions of people who all are
scattered in whole world by a simple electronic communication system. Due to electronic

Benefits of Censorship
It is evident that the hotly debated issue concerning media censorship is hardly started, especially
in today s ever changing media. With the ever changing medial rules and regulations, media
authorities are always on their toes with regards to evaluating what is fit for publication or
broadcast. This article aims at highlighting both the pros and cons of censorship. 1. National
Issue: a. In present days a country involve in developing nuclear weapon impasses ban on
telecasting or broadcasting any news regarding nuclear weapon subject. b. A scandal or spreading
obnoxious picture of very high official of the country needs a immediate censorship on electronic
midea. 2. Censorship on news: During martial law special censorship is done in print and electronic
media.
3. Protects young children. The most obvious benefit of censorship includes radical regulations
aimed at protecting children from obscene content. Moreover, media censorship help prevent hate

Experiment to Measure the Concentration of Two Sugars
Soda, candy, sweets are extremely tasty because of all the sugar they contain. However, not many
people know that there are different types of sugar, and one kind of food can have multiple kinds
of sugar. Our bodies actually process the types of sugar differently, and with my science project, I
will measure the concentration of two sugars; glucose, and sucrose, in different foods and how
sucrose is converted into glucose with an enzyme called invertase, just like it would in our bodies.
This will help figure out how the amount of glucose we digest fluctuates with the enzyme
converting sucrose into glucose. Sweet tasty foods are one of the hearts great desires. The main
reason why they are such a want is due to the sugarin them. The nutrition label often shows how
much sugar are in these foods, but the sugar you probably see the most of is sucrose, generally
the white granules of sugar used for backing delicious sweets like cupcakes and lollipops. For
example, the nutrition label for a 20 fl oz. Dr. Pepper contains 64 g of sugar, and a total of 66g
of carbohydrates. Even an original cheesecake from the cheesecake factory contains about 27
grams or more of sugar, with the total amount of carbs being 32 g. With there being several types
of sugars, all of them technically being carbohydrates chemical compounds that only have carbon,
hydrogen, and oxygen, and are mainly made by plants. The second type of sugar commonly found
in foods is Glucose. In the body, sucrose is

The ancient peoples would not have been able to move all of those tones and set them up in
complicated forms because they did not have advanced technologies to move them or to construct
temples (from the ones before the technology to build was invented). It has been hypothesized that
these extraterrestrials have come to planet Earth and inspired the early humans to explore. The
aliens would come down to Earth and gather in circles. That is why all over the world there are
circle shaped structures made of something that symbolizes power, such as a rock. Only the
extraterrestrials with their advanced technology would be able to lift the rocks and place them,
especially the ones that overlap each other. There even is proof that they actually have visited. In
the writing of the ancient people, it has been recorded that there is strange creatures that come from
the celestial bodies. This has been recorded in the history of several ancient peoples. They all seem
to be intertwined for they all similarly explain the same things: they gather in a circle and
communicate with the humans. In the end, they inspire them to create new technology and to
explore. As I have written before, they created temples and new structures of buildings, such as the
Washington Monument.
All in all, Earth has been visited by extraterrestrial life in ancient and modern times. There have
been abductees and many witnesses. Some has proven to be false, but there still remains that small
portion that is unidentified. We should keep in mind about Area 51, the mysterious U.S. military
installation that might have the answers to all of this. Who could set up the ton weighing
monoliths all over the world with no advanced technology? Is the government behind all this? Do
they have the answer? We can only

Rights, Laws, and Policies for Children with Special Needs
In 2006 and 2007 over 6.5 million children (13.6 percent) enrolled in public schools in the U.S.
were identified as children with disabilities or special needs (Ben Porath, 2012, p. 25). Current
legislation, such as the Individuals with disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA), is
designed to ensure these students get appropriate educationin an environment that is inclusive and
the least restrictive possible. This best environment for students with special needs is not a physical
place, but represents a philosophy to guide practitioners in supporting equity for all children
(Darragh, 2007, p. 167). The equity does not mean that every child gets the same thing, but that
each individual gets what is needed to be successful in school. There is, to some extent, a paradox.
Students with special needs must be treated as individuals so their specific challenges can be
addressed, and yet they must also be considered part of the mainstream to have access to that
which is afforded the majority of students. Satisfying the mandates on both sides of the paradox
requires sensitivity, skill, and understanding of laws, policies, and the rights of the individuals
involved. There are four laws in the U.S. that are important to understand as they relate to children
with special needs: Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; Family Educational Rights and
Privacy Act (FERPA); Individuals with Disabilities Education Act(IDEA); and the Elementary and
Secondary

Essay On Integrating Women Into The World Economy
Integrating Women into the World Economy
Introduction
On November 9, 1989, the world s economy changed dramatically. The fall of the Berlin wall
produced a new world order which enabled states to connect on political, economic, and social
levels with nations that were previously inaccessible to the western world. This created an
interaction across national boundaries. The past two decades have seen the growing economic
interdependence of countries worldwide, including an increased volume of cross border
transactions of goods and services, international capital flows, and most importantly, the rapid and
widespread diffusion of technology ( Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific, 1999 ).

This has contributed to a disparity in gender equality in the economic sector, as most opportunities
for women have been severely overlooked. The United Nations, recognizing this, is committed to
decreasing the gap between gender developments. The Economic and Financial Committee has
declared the topic of women and development to be revisited and revised by the General
Assembly on an annual basis. The issue of globalization and development is one of many agenda
topics, however, and gender development is all encompassing, as it includes sectors at the regional
and local levels.
One of the most groundbreaking developments on the topic, the special session entitled Women
2000: Gender Equality, Development and Peace for the Twenty First Century was recommended
by GA resolution 52/100 and was designed to review the Beijing Declaration and Platform for
Action ( Beijing +5 Process and Beyond ). Paragraph 156 of the 1995 Beijing Platform for Action
states:
For the majority of women ...continuing obstacles have hindered their ability to achieve economic
autonomy and to ensure sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their dependants. Women are
active in a variety of economic areas, which they often combine, ranging from wage labor and
subsistence farming and fishing, to the informal sector. However, legal and customary barriers to

A couple weekends ago, I met up with an Au Pair from France and we visited the Civita di

inside. To get to it, you have to walk up a long bridge, which is also shown in the picture.
At the other end of the city is a trail and at the bottom of the trail is an orange fence. If you are
lucky enough, that fence could be down and you can walk over it and follow the trail to a small
tunnel underneath the city. You can walk through that tunnel and down another trail that goes to the

Ursula Le Guin s short story, The Ones Who Walked away from Omelas, is Guin s depiction of
the relationship between societies and the maintenance of animalistic instinct in man. Omelas is
described as a luxurious sophisticated Utopia, that is completely self efficient, however it
participates in ritualistic public neglect of some children. They, the society of Omelas, cage
certain children and put their suffering on display for the whole City, and World to see. As the

The Effects Of Energy Subsidies On The Consumer, The...
Abstract Subsidies are one of the most powerful policy tools in the hands of the government. They
have been used for decades to achieve a range of economic, social and environmental objectives.
Indeed, one of the most important and challenging responsibilities of a government is allocating
financial resources to achieve public good. This paper analyses the effects of energy subsidies on
the consumer, the economy and the energy industry. Energy subsidies are any government actions
that support the cost of energy production in terms of reduction in prices paid by consumers and
increase in revenues to energy producers (World Bank, 2010). These investments aim to improve
energy access by making prices more affordable, shielding domestic consumers from international
price volatility and supporting energy intensive industries (The International Institute for
sustainable development, 2012).In practice, energy subsidies come in different forms. (The IEA,
2002) and (UNEP, 2008) identify the following typical mechanisms by which governments support
the production and consumption of energy: Direct financial transfers: grants to consumers, grants
to producers, low interest or preferential loans and government loan guarantees; Preferential tax
treatment: tax credits, tax rebates, exemptions on royalties, duties or tariffs, reduced tax rates,
deferred tax liabilities and accelerated depreciation on energy supply equipment; Trade restrictions:
tariffs, tariff rate import quotas

The Zebra Mussels
ZEBRA MUSSELS DREISSENA POLYMORPHA
Zebra Mussels are small fingerlike size about two inches in length. They have a hard white shell
with black strips. So that s where they get their name. The Zebra Mussels originated from the
Caspian Sea region of Asia. They are fresh water mussel species capable to attaching to hard

out of the water for about seven days.
In 1988 it was discovered that the Zebra Mussels were discharged into Lake St Clair near Detroit,
Michigan. Lake St Clair connects to Lake Huron and Lake Erie. By the next year the Zebra

Ergonomics Is A Scientific Discipline That Deals With...
Ergonomics is a scientific discipline that deals with the research and understanding between the
interaction of humans and other elements of a socio technical system. It involves conducting
research into human: social, psychological, physical and biological characteristics, and using this
information to optimize human performance, safety, habitability and health with regard to the
design and evaluation of tasks, products, environments and jobs in a performance system (James H.
and Stramler, 1993) to make them compatible with humans abilities, needs and limitations. The
ergonomics discipline promotes a human centered and holistic approach to system design, which

According to Carroll (cognitive view), there are two aspects of system design (Carroll, 1991).
The first is the process of the design. Ergonomists want to determine how it is that people devise
new systems, and what individual/group factors were involved in making all the decisions
involved in the construct of a system (Paul R. Martin, 2011). Secondly, design requires innovation,
and requires ergonomists to proactively supply empirical data for the future design of systems,
thus improving the levels of human performance and acceptance of new artefacts (Paul R. Martin,
2011). User centred design in technological innovation The concept of user centred design was
developed during the 1980 МЃs in the design of technologies (The Oxford Handbook of Cognitive
Engineering, 2013). The aim of user centred design is to describe how a human will interact
with a system from a cognitive science view. These characteristics will then be shared between
the cognitive ergonomists and engineers in the design process of new systems. Six important
aspects of technological system design (ticket machine): (1) Visibility This system is usually
placed in an area, which is crowded, and busy , thus it must be easily seen. People in crowded
placed are usually placed under stress. If the system isn t seen on first glance, the user will rather
go to the ticket desk. (2) Physical Design The look and shape

The Policy Process Of New Zealand Essay
The Policy Process
Task II: Briefing Paper
Summary:
There is an imminent threat posed by the climate change issue that New Zealand faces. Human
wellbeing, food and water security, health issues and national security are some of the threats that
New Zealand will have to resolve. One of the first global effort in response to combating the issue
of climate change is the Kyoto Protocol. However, the agreement did not include the two largest
world emitters of greenhouse gas China and the USA.
The issue impedes development in many small south pacific island nations. Agriculture is one of
the major export for many developing island nations. The rise in sea level due to climate change
directly affects the agricultural production. The ASEAN summit has identified food securityto be of
great concern and there is a need to address the issue. The issue affects most south pacific island
countries. Climate change affects them in many ways and one of the major issues is the rise in
sea levels. High tides lead to flooded roads affecting transportation and other infrastructure. Heat
stress and saltwater incursions are some of the effects that is quite problematic for the industry.
Furthermore, the rapid population growth and increasing food consumption per person is also a
critical issue. Drought or the lack of availability of fresh water is also a concern. People are
migrating due to flooding caused by the rising sea level. A research conducted by London School

Navy Chiefs In Men Of Honor
Navy Chiefs in Men of Honor
Introduction
The movie Men of Honor stars Robert De Niro as Master Chief Leslie Billy Sunday and Cuba
Gooding, Jr as Chief Carl Brashear. The movie is loosely based on the real life story of Chief Carl
Brashear, the first black man to become a Master Deep Sea Diver in the US Navy. The movie
takes place during the 1950s and 1960s in the US. During that time, racism and discrimination was a
society norm. The movie uses drama and writer s freedom of expression to tell the story of the
hardships Chief Brashear faced in his quest to become a Master Diver. The movie was released on
November 10, 2000 in the United States theatres (Cinema.com, 2000).

That respect showed through during the final test. The school commanding officer made it clear
that Brashear was not to pass. The Chiefs working on the dock with Master Chief understood the
Captain s order. They made sure to make it hard on Brashear to force him to give up by cutting
his tool bag. However, Master Chief stayed on the docks until Petty Officer Brashear was able to
complete the valve even though it took 9 hours in the extremely cold water.
Master Chief has a problem with authority during the entire movie and as a result of several
outbreaks (including hitting LCDR Hanks in the nose), had been demoted to Chief. Yet, Chief
Sunday approached Senior Chief Brashear to help him get ready for a medical review board and
return to active service. Chief Sunday kept putting Senior Chief Brashear s needs and interest
above his own. Of course, having the chance to defeat Chief Sunday s mortal enemy, now Captain
Hanks, was just icing on the cake.
What did Master Chief Sunday not do to exemplify Honor, Courage, and

Pain and Painkillers
Like a bell ringing mechanism in a church . That is how, in 1664, Descartes (Jackson, 2002)
suggested pain should be visualized. This, however, is a very primitive description of the
phenomenon of pain.
Injury or inflammation of a bodily tissue can lead to profound changes in the internal chemical
environment. Damaged cells discharge their intracellular components, releasing substances, notably
ATP, potassium ions (K+) and acetyl chloine (ACh). Some of these contents act on nociceptors
directly, triggering an action potential which will end up in the brain. Other components released
from the cells can sensitize the terminals, making them hypersensitive to further stimuli. This
allows a pain signal to be transmitted when a seemingly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This hinders the production of the neurotransmitter ACh, resulting in fewer action potentials being
transmitted down the neurones and hence a numbing effect is experienced. It is thought that
morphine and other narcotics may exploit this natural mechanism that has evolved for the
similarly shaped enkephalins. Heroin is a far more powerful drug than morphine, possibly
because the drugpasses the blood brain barrier far more readily. The heroin is then hydrolysed to
morphine once inside the body and so the pain killing mechanism is likely to be very similar to
the way in which morphine works. However, it is common to develop tolerance and
desensitization towards opioids as the opioid receptors are continually used. This has been termed
the cascade of cellular adaptation (Strelzer J, 2001; Borgland SL, 2001). Furthermore, animal
studies have suggested that, in the case of morphine taken during chronic pain, not only tolerance is
acquired towards its analgesic effects, but also an increased sensitivity towards pain actually
develops (Ibuki T, et al, 1997; Celerier E et al, 2001).
Non narcotic analgesics are the household drugs used to treat moderate pains. These include
paracetamol, aspirin and ibuprofen. There are very few noticeable effects beyond treating specific
pains (in contrast to narcotics, when a feeling of well being takes over the body).

Make A Raccoon Research Paper
If you have a raccoon that is frequenting your garbage, you need to look into getting raccoon traps
to relocate the pest far away from your home. There are a few different no kill raccoon traps that
are great for catching raccoons safely.
The best way to avoid trouble with raccoons is to be sure that your house, garbage cans, and other
parts of the property are raccoon proof. You can also use various repellents, as well, to keep them
away. However, you may already have a problem and need to take care of it.
As most people live somewhat close to their neighbor s, it is best to use a live trap. This way, if you
were to catch your neighbor s beloved cat instead, you could simply release it and try again the next
day. More than likely, explaining... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Raccoons are extremely smart and crafty, and will quickly escape if they are not properly enclosed
within the trap.
Find a good place to put your trap. It is best if it is somewhere that you know the raccoon to
frequent. For example, if the raccoon has been in your outside dog s food every night, put the trap
near the dog s food bowl and use dog food as bait. It is important that the raccoon not see the trap as
a threat, or else he will not go inside.
Bait and place the trap for several days without the triggering mechanism in place. This will
acclimate the raccoon to the cage and it will go inside without fear of being trapped. Check the
trap every morning for activity to be sure the raccoon is going inside to get the food. You can bait
the trap with nearly anything, but sugary things like cookies or cake are best, as this is very
attractive to raccoons, and not very attractive to cats.
When you have both baited and set the trap, be sure to put some water in there for the raccoon, in
case you cannot immediately release the animal. Now that you know how to operate humane
raccoon traps, you can begin to catch and release the raccoons that have been plaguing

Lord Of The Flies Political Allegory
The Lord Of The Flies, written by William Golding, is a political allegory where the island
illustrates the world while Jack and Ralph both symbolize conflicting ideologies, totalitarianism
and democracy because Ralph and Jack, in a power struggle, fight for control over the island,
trying to spread their respective ideologies, just as it occurred during the inception of the book.
Stranded on the island, the boys, haggard and bedraggled, chose Ralph as their chief. During the
voting process, Ralph and his conch, the device use to talk in the tribe, are described: There was a
stillness about Ralph as he sat that marked him out: there was his size, and attractive appearance;

Ralph s stillness , the stance of a calculative person thinking about following actions, accredited
him to have the traits of a leader. In order to become the symbol of democracy, Ralph needed the

equality, giving everyone an equal voice including responsibility in society. Democracy is
defined as a society where the people rule. Democracy is prevalent here as the people are given
access to create change and are given voice using the conch. Ralph, as the chief and the conch,

Confucianism, Daoism, And Legalism In Evergreen Middle School

created during the same period was Daoism. Daoism was created by Laozi. Some Daoism beliefs

whatever happens. The other main Chinese philosophy was Legalism. Per http://www.ancient.eu

Limitations Of Cosmopolitanism
Cosmopolitanism does have its limits in achieving its aims. It is necessary that one tracks the
historical roots of cosmopolitanism to understand what visions it sets out to propose for IR. In
Hellenic era, cosmopolitanism finds its meaning when Alexandrian intermarriage took place
(Russel, 1945: 220), introducing the concept of mankind as a whole . Similar notion came into
being in Stoicism in which people, apart from their own local identity, are united under a world
citizenship (Nussbaum, 2010: 156). Kant, in the eighteenth century, furthered expounded on
cosmopolitanism by suggesting a rule of cosmopolitan law and universal liberties (Held, 2010:
3). Drawing on those historical developments, this essay takes cosmopolitanism as an ideal that
posits that people are citizens of the world and are subject to a common normative standard.
(Dunne, 2013: 348). By extension, it suggests that obligations and allegiances are to the
universal category of humankind (Dunne, 2013: 348). There are limits to such a cosmopolitan
ethical vision for IR. One can find limits in the vision s effectiveness and practicability of
realising its proposals. As for effectiveness, cosmopolitan values (1) are extremely difficult to
define and (2) fall short of being legally binding on international actors. These combine to
undermine its assertion on the global stage. As for practicability, (1) there is moral debate as to
who decides what cosmopolitanism ideals are; (2) it spells conflicts when it

The Looking Glass Reflection
Fantasy will always be more cherished than reality. Our imaginations give way to disappointment
when it s time to buckle down and come back to the real world. However, for Nellie this is quite the
opposite. In Anton Chekhov s The Looking Glass character development, symbolism, and diction
are used to communicate that reality upsets our expectations.
Character Development is one of the most effective tools used to communicate the overall theme of
The Looking Glass. Character Development is used in The Looking Glass to show the change of
Nellie s perspective from the beginning of her vision to the end. In this excerpt, Nellie describes
what she sees in the mirror It was he, the destined one, the object of long dreams and hopes. The
destined one was for Nellie everything, the significance of life, personal happiness, career.
Nellie s filled with new found wonder and excitement when she catches a glimpse of what she
presumes to be her future husband. In Nellie s perspective her life has always been building up
to find the perfect man and that man now stands before her in the mirror. It s apparent that not
only did Nellie idolize her husband but she s seems very naive to not consider all the bad things
that come with marriage. Life will test a relationship between wife and husband Nellie s
perspective changes dramatically towards the end of the book, She looked into the looking
glass and saw a pale, tear stained face. There was no grey background now. I must have fallen
asleep, she thought with a sigh of relief. (Chekhov 7). Nellie has seen the full preview of what
her life is supposed to be and she s horrified. Nellie no longer is a victim of her own naive
complex she fully realizes that life is no picnic. The development of Nellie s perspective of what
seemed like a bright future has been shattered by the universal fact that reality upsets expectations.
We can never be certain of our future and setting up false hopes is setting yourself up for a rude
awakening to reality. Character development was instrumental to the theme because it proves the
point that our expectations for our future is not certainly not what we will receive no matter how
hard we try to work towards. Chekhov s word choice in this

Defect Correction Is The Remediation Of A Software Condition
Defect Correction
Defect correction is the remediation of a software condition or result that contradicts or does not
meet the needs of the software requirements (Defect, 2010). The agile test model is an automated
and efficient process for detecting requirements and functionality variations (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014).
Also, unit testing activities are performed earlier within the life cycle and defects are identified
sooner (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). The early identification of defects minimizes the costs for defect
correction or rework (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). The accelerated timeframe allows teams to remediate
defects before functionalities are demonstrated or sent to the customer for user acceptance testing
(Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). Without incremental methods, as evident in the waterfall model
, identified
defects are unknown until post customer delivery (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). As a result, the estimated
costs for software development are exceeded to remedy code defects or cover the expense of
rework for issues that customers identify post implementation (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). Finally, post
development defects may result in the loss of customers given the impact and severity (Tarhan
Yilmaz, 2014). An empirical study of development models revealed that agile model performance
was superior to that of waterfall with respect to defect detection and cost control (Tarhan Yilmaz,
2014).

The era from about 500 to 1000 C.E. is sometimes referred to as the Dark Ages in European
history, partly because many aspects of the Roman civilization were lost, such as written language,
advanced architectural and building techniques, complex government, and access to long distance
trade. For the most part, these early people of Europe could not read or write, and lived much as
their nomadic ancestors had. In their isolation, they slowly cleared the forested areas for farming,
but their greatest need was for protection. However, the need for protection grew to be most
important when the Vikings from Scandinavia invaded many areas of Europe in the 8th and 9th
centuries, followed by the Magyars, who came from the east in the late 9th century. In response,
Europeans established feudalism as a way to unite and protect them.
European feudal institutions revolved around political and military relationships. The feudal
political order developed into a complicated network of lord vassal relationships, with lords having
overlords, and overlords owing allegiance to kings. On these foundations early kingdoms, such as
England and France, were built, but in other areas, such as modern day Germany, the feudal
organization remained highly decentralized.

The Theory X And Theory Y Essay
The ability to predict the behavior of employees in an organization is a key element in encouraging
and ensuring that employees to produce desired results. Some employees usually take great pride in
their work and obtain satisfaction from performing their duties well. Such employees are innately
motivated (Douglas McGregor: Theory X and Theory Y, 2015). Other employees are never proud
of their work. They simply work because they believe that they cannot survive without their jobs.
Such employees are externally motivated (they require an outside force to compel them to perform
their duties) (Theory X and Theory Y: Understanding Team Member Motivation, 2016). These ideas
about employee behavior and much more have been developed by social psychologist and
managementprofessionals, such as Douglas Mc Gregor, Abraham Maslow, and Herzberg, in the
form of theories to help managers and employees predict each other s behavior. This paper focuses
on the Theory X and Theory Y, which were both developed by Douglas McGregor. It describes the
theories and analyzes their effectiveness in predicting human behavior.
Theory X and Theory Y
Unlike other theories that usually focus on employees, Theory X and Theory Y focus on managers
and the perceptions they have about their employees, which in turn influences their behavior
towards their employees (Theory X and Theory Y: Understanding Team Member Motivation, 2016).

Persuasive Essay On National Security
Today, Canadian s lives today are as translucent as ever. Most organizations especially the
government constantly watches each and every one of our moves. From driving to the shopping
mall to withdrawing money from the ATM machine, Canadians are being watched constantly. With
Canada s commitment to advance technology and infrastructure in the 1960s, government
surveillanceis much easier and much more prevalent than it was hundreds of years ago. Even as
early as 1940s, the Dominion Bureau of Statistics used punch cards and machines to determine who
is available for conscription in the military. Several ethnicity groups such as the Germans, the
Italians, the Japanese, the Chinese and the Indians were removed from the military. Today, with the
advancement of information technology such as the internet and high speed securitycameras, access
to personal information by the government has never been much easier. For instance, airport
security now uses finger printing, cameras, and electronic devices in passports that did not exist
in the 1990s. For the majority of Canadians, this is a concern because it goes directly against their
rights to freedom and privacy. For example, more than half of Canadians in 2012 said that they are
against policeand intelligence services acquiring information on Canadians on social media sites.
Two third of Canadians in the same year did not agree to the statement police and intelligence
agencies should have more powers to ensure security even if

The Coherence Theory Of Truth Essay
Section 2.2: The Coherence Theory of Truth
In his book Meditations on First Philosophy , Descartes writes that all beliefs, even the most
irresistible convictions, may not correspond to how the world really is; and this is something that
defenders of the correspondence theory are arguably unable to dismiss. As a result, the coherence
theory takes a different approach and argues that a proposition (truth bearer) is true if it fits or
coheres with a specific set of beliefs (truth maker). These beliefs may belong either to the
individual (and include the laws of logic, for example), to human beings at the ultimate stage of
historical development, or to a system of beliefs held by a God or the Absolute (Walker, 1989).
So in the example where Billy believes that dogs have five legs , his claim can be assessed by
considering if this statement coheres with a specific set of true beliefs. For instance, it may be
commonly understood that dogs have four legs not five, that there has never been a dog with more
than four legs, and that no one apart from Billy has ever claimed that dogs can have more than
four legs. Thus, it follows that the key to determining whether Billy s statement is true or false is
internal consistency and logical standards (Dunwoody, 2009, p. 117).
Even though the coherence theory of truth differs from the coherence theory of knowledge, which
states that a belief is justified if the belief coheres with a set of beliefs that forms a coherent system

Risk And Risk Of Risk
The risk score represents the criticality order of the risks, while the risk priority number is used
for assessing risk in a project and generally do not have a meaning on their own. In this case
some of the numbers are identical for the risk scores and priority numbers; however this is not
always the case. The reason for the duplicate numbers happens when the value is estimated to be
smaller and the impact is bigger in one riskthan the other with a smaller impact. As you can see
from the above charts it is critical for New Concepts to concentrate first and foremost on the
quality and labor risks, followed swiftly by the financial risk.
Risk Planning and Analysis Risk Planning and Analysis is used to develop risk responses which
are options and actions to mitigate and reduce project threats. Risk responses delegate the owner
for each potential risk and are agreed upon by all parties involved. There are four ways risk can be
managed which are transferring risk, avoiding risk, reducing or mitigating risk and accepting risk.
Transferring Risk: Risk can be transferred from an organization to its contractor and vice versa.
This should be agreed upon prior to the project starting and detailed in the contract. All risk may
not be transferred, sometimes only partial risk can be transferred. New Concepts may consider
transferring risk to a contractor helping with coding when they do not believe they will not meet
deadlines on a new system.
Avoid Risk: Risk can be avoided

The Pros And Cons Of Immigration Reform
Reforming the system has wide support from Wall Street, advocacy groups, the American people,
and politicians. Billionaires Warren Buffett, Bill Gates and Sheldon Adelson urged congress to
regulate the flow of immigrants coming to the United States and provide them a path to citizenship.
They highlighted the economic value to the U.S. if lawmakers made it easier for skilled foreigners
to work in the country, and the need for dealing with the undocumented population in ways
allegedly true to Americas forgiving and generous traditions (Tonolesen, 1). As recently as the 2014
midterm elections the majority of potential voters were found to support comprehensive
immigrationreform. As many as forty four percent of the electorate considered reform an important
issue;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout 2013, Republicans successfully derailed the immigration reform bill for reasons that
ranged from the Affordable Cara Act website having technical problems to Representatives Steve
King and Louie Gohmert claiming that tragic Boston bombings showed any path to legal status
would endanger Americans, and that radical Islamists are trained to act Hispanic (Shen). This
partisan lack of cooperation by certain members of Congress was a far deterrence from their
former opinion regarding the need for immigration reform just as recently as 2009 when former
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice stated, This country needs comprehensive immigration
reform. I don t care whether it is the person who will crawl across the desert to make five dollars...
or Sergey Brin, who comes here from Russia and founds Google. At both ends of the spectrum,
America has always been able to attract the most ambitious people (Republicans for Immigration

Channeling Communication Between the World and Us Through...
By definition, sense perception is whereby the idea of sense is referred to the external stimulus in
which we perceive our knowledge through while perception is defined to be the awareness towards
something through our senses. Long before we learned how to use language, reasoning, faith, or
emotions, we have already been making use of our external stimuluses to make senseor even be
conscious of the world. This makes sense perceptionour primary source of obtaining knowledge
since it is the only way for us to interact with the world around us. However, though it plays a
requisite part for us in attaining knowledge, sense perception can both impede and limit our
understanding of the world. In this essay, the strengths and weaknesses of... Show more content on

This is similar to the way in which knowledge is deduced in human sciences. For example, in
Anthropology, anthropologists make claims based on the observations they make of a particular
community. These observations can range from the clothes the people in the community adorn, to
the way in which they interact with one another. Without observing the community while being
immersed in it, theories of communities or about their culture will never surface.
While sense perception serves as our fundamental way of knowing, its strength of it being our
predominant method of acquiring knowledge is its weakness as well.
Due to the imperfection of our sensory organs, it generates inconsistent information gathered
which subsequently affects the way we perceive knowledge. In the case of natural sciences,
such a Biology, the obtainment of raw data sometimes requires the process of the image. For
example, one might need to measure the size of the cell during the study of cytology. Human
error is involved the moment a process of what is observed needs to be carried out. From
various angles, the cell may appear slightly larger, while in other angles, slightly smaller, resulting
in a variation of the data obtained. In such a case, how can one deduce that the data collected by
one person is indeed accurate or false? Besides, we as humans generate our biasness towards
everything, subconsciously or consciously. This results in us never being able to grasp a situation

Capitalism And Feudalism
Marx and Engels suggested that the bourgeois revolution destroyed everything that was once held
sacred because people had to give up their dreams, passions, and occupations in order to provide
for themsel The alienation of labor added insult to injury because workers were forced to sell
themselves into slavery.
The destruction of the feudalism, and the industrial revolution was what created capitalism. During
the 19 century, the industrial revolution had allowed the once impoverished to become obtain
wealth through manufacturing and creating jobs, which created new oppressors. The workers that
they employed were alienated because they could afford the products they made while working
harsh hours in horrible conditions. Which lead Marx to create the Communist Manifesto, which
divided people into two classes: the property owners (Bourgeoisie) and the workers (proletariat) .
He did this because felt pity for the workers and wanted to go back to simpler times and knew
industrial societies were developed enough to have a workers revolution. This had led revolutions
because the people he called the proletariat were outraged and wanted a better standard of living.
Thus, leading to future revolutions throughout the world.
To understand how capitalism started must first know what feudalism was. Feudalism was a
medieval hierarchal power structure of King s, Nobles Knights, Peasants , and Serfs etc. The King
ruled what was known as divine rights of kings. The king s rule was

From the first community collegeestablished in 1901 in Joliet, Illinois (Dougherty 1994), the number of community colleges across the United States multiplied until the 1980s. After World War II the GI Bill of Rights promised returning veterans access to higher education. With the Center for Educational Statistics showing enrollments of over 2.1 million students in 654 community colleges as of 1970, more students were beginning their college careers at two year community colleges than at their four year counterparts, and by 1980 more than 4.5 million students were enrolled in community colleges (Brint and Karabel 198). Since they are so crucial to everything else, it is necessary to understand where Lutheranism stands on this matter. At its core, Lutheranism views God as the father in a parent child relationship (Jacobs 510). He is not a hateful or malicious God, but one that seeks the benefit of His creation through Christ, whom the Scriptures reveal (510). However, not many people know that there are different types of sugar, and one kind of food can have multiple kinds of sugar. Our bodies actually process the types of sugar differently, and with my science project, I will measure the concentration of two sugars; glucose, and sucrose, in different foods and how sucrose is converted into glucose with an enzyme called invertase, just like it would in our bodies. This will help figure out how the amount of glucose we digest fluctuates with the enzyme converting sucrose into glucose. Sweet tasty foods are one of the hearts great desires. The main reason why they are such a want is due to the sugarin them. The nutrition label often shows how much sugar are in these foods, but the sugar you probably see the most of is sucrose, generally the white granules of sugar used for backing delicious sweets like cupcakes and lollipops. For example, the nutrition label for a 20 fl oz. Dr. Pepper contains 64 g of sugar, and a total of 66g of carbohydrates. Even an original cheesecake from the cheesecake factory contains about 27 grams or more of sugar, with the total amount of carbs being 32 g. It has been hypothesized that these extraterrestrials have come to planet Earth and inspired the early humans to explore. The aliens would come down to Earth and gather in circles. That is why all over the world there are circle shaped structures made of something that symbolizes power, such as a rock. Only the extraterrestrials with their advanced technology would be able to lift the rocks and place them, especially the ones that overlap each other. There even is proof that they actually have visited. In the writing of the ancient people, it has been recorded that there is strange creatures that come from the celestial bodies. This has been recorded in the history of several ancient peoples. They all seem to be intertwined for they all similarly explain the same things: they gather in a circle and communicate with the humans. • 12. Rights, Laws, and Policies for Children with Special Needs In 2006 and 2007 over 6.5 million children (13.6 percent) enrolled in public schools in the U.S. were identified as children with disabilities or special needs (Ben Porath, 2012, p. 25). Current legislation, such as the Individuals with disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA), is designed to ensure these students get appropriate educationin an environment that is inclusive and the least restrictive possible. This best environment for students with special needs is not a physical place, but represents a philosophy to guide practitioners in supporting equity for all children (Darragh, 2007, p. 167). The equity does not mean that every child gets the same thing, but that each individual gets what is needed to be successful in school. There is, to some extent, a paradox. Students with special needs must be treated as individuals so their specific challenges can be addressed, and yet they must also be considered part of the mainstream to have access to that which is afforded the majority of students. Satisfying the mandates on both sides of the paradox requires sensitivity, skill, and understanding of laws, policies, and the rights of the individuals involved. There are four laws in the U.S. that are important to understand as they relate to children with special needs: Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA); Individuals with Disabilities Education Act(IDEA); and the Elementary and Secondary ... • 18. The Effects Of Energy Subsidies On The Consumer, The... Abstract Subsidies are one of the most powerful policy tools in the hands of the government. They have been used for decades to achieve a range of economic, social and environmental objectives. Indeed, one of the most important and challenging responsibilities of a government is allocating financial resources to achieve public good. This paper analyses the effects of energy subsidies on the consumer, the economy and the energy industry. Energy subsidies are any government actions that support the cost of energy production in terms of reduction in prices paid by consumers and increase in revenues to energy producers (World Bank, 2010). These investments aim to improve energy access by making prices more affordable, shielding domestic consumers from international price volatility and supporting energy intensive industries (The International Institute for sustainable development, 2012).In practice, energy subsidies come in different forms. (The IEA, 2002) and (UNEP, 2008) identify the following typical mechanisms by which governments support the production and consumption of energy: Direct financial transfers: grants to consumers, grants to producers, low interest or preferential loans and government loan guarantees; Preferential tax treatment: tax credits, tax rebates, exemptions on royalties, duties or tariffs, reduced tax rates, deferred tax liabilities and accelerated depreciation on energy supply equipment; Trade restrictions: tariffs, tariff rate import quotas ... In 1988 it was discovered that the Zebra Mussels were discharged into Lake St Clair near Detroit, Michigan. Lake St Clair connects to Lake Huron and Lake Erie. By the next year the Zebra Mussels traveled from these fresh water lakes into the Illinois and the Hudson Rivers. Ergonomics is a scientific discipline that deals with the research and understanding between the interaction of humans and other elements of a socio technical system. It involves conducting research into human: social, psychological, physical and biological characteristics, and using this information to optimize human performance, safety, habitability and health with regard to the design and evaluation of tasks, products, environments and jobs in a performance system (James H. and Stramler, 1993) to make them compatible with humans abilities, needs and limitations. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Carroll (cognitive view), there are two aspects of system design (Carroll, 1991). The first is the process of the design. Ergonomists want to determine how it is that people devise new systems, and what individual/group factors were involved in making all the decisions involved in the construct of a system (Paul R. Martin, 2011). Secondly, design requires innovation, and requires ergonomists to proactively supply empirical data for the future design of systems, thus improving the levels of human performance and acceptance of new artefacts (Paul R. Martin, 2011). User centred design in technological innovation The concept of user centred design was developed during the 1980 МЃs in the design of technologies (The Oxford Handbook of Cognitive Engineering, 2013). The aim of user centred design is to describe how a human will interact with a system from a cognitive science view. These characteristics will then be shared between the cognitive ergonomists and engineers in the design process of new systems. Six important aspects of technological system design (ticket machine): (1) Visibility This system is usually placed in an area, which is crowded, and busy , thus it must be easily seen. People in crowded placed are usually placed under stress. If the system isn t seen on first glance, the user will rather go to the ticket desk. (2) Physical Design The look and shape ... Human wellbeing, food and water security, health issues and national security are some of the threats that New Zealand will have to resolve. One of the first global effort in response to combating the issue of climate change is the Kyoto Protocol. However, the agreement did not include the two largest world emitters of greenhouse gas China and the USA. The issue impedes development in many small south pacific island nations. Agriculture is one of the major export for many developing island nations. The rise in sea level due to climate change directly affects the agricultural production. The ASEAN summit has identified food securityto be of great concern and there is a need to address the issue. The issue affects most south pacific island countries. Climate change affects them in many ways and one of the major issues is the rise in sea levels. High tides lead to flooded roads affecting transportation and other infrastructure. Heat stress and saltwater incursions are some of the effects that is quite problematic for the industry. Furthermore, the rapid population growth and increasing food consumption per person is also a critical issue. Drought or the lack of availability of fresh water is also a concern. • 24. Pain and Painkillers Like a bell ringing mechanism in a church . That is how, in 1664, Descartes (Jackson, 2002) suggested pain should be visualized. This, however, is a very primitive description of the phenomenon of pain. Injury or inflammation of a bodily tissue can lead to profound changes in the internal chemical environment. Damaged cells discharge their intracellular components, releasing substances, notably ATP, potassium ions (K+) and acetyl chloine (ACh). Some of these contents act on nociceptors directly, triggering an action potential which will end up in the brain. Other components released from the cells can sensitize the terminals, making them hypersensitive to further stimuli. This allows a pain signal to be transmitted when a seemingly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This hinders the production of the neurotransmitter ACh, resulting in fewer action potentials being transmitted down the neurones and hence a numbing effect is experienced. It is thought that morphine and other narcotics may exploit this natural mechanism that has evolved for the similarly shaped enkephalins. Heroin is a far more powerful drug than morphine, possibly because the drugpasses the blood brain barrier far more readily. The heroin is then hydrolysed to morphine once inside the body and so the pain killing mechanism is likely to be very similar to the way in which morphine works. However, it is common to develop tolerance and desensitization towards opioids as the opioid receptors are continually used. This has been termed the cascade of cellular adaptation (Strelzer J, 2001; Borgland SL, 2001). Furthermore, animal studies have suggested that, in the case of morphine taken during chronic pain, not only tolerance is acquired towards its analgesic effects, but also an increased sensitivity towards pain actually develops (Ibuki T, et al, 1997; Celerier E et al, 2001). Non narcotic analgesics are the household drugs used to treat moderate pains. These include paracetamol, aspirin and ibuprofen. There are very few noticeable effects beyond treating specific pains (in contrast to narcotics, when a feeling of well being takes over the body). • 29. Limitations Of Cosmopolitanism Cosmopolitanism does have its limits in achieving its aims. It is necessary that one tracks the historical roots of cosmopolitanism to understand what visions it sets out to propose for IR. In Hellenic era, cosmopolitanism finds its meaning when Alexandrian intermarriage took place (Russel, 1945: 220), introducing the concept of mankind as a whole . Similar notion came into being in Stoicism in which people, apart from their own local identity, are united under a world citizenship (Nussbaum, 2010: 156). Kant, in the eighteenth century, furthered expounded on cosmopolitanism by suggesting a rule of cosmopolitan law and universal liberties (Held, 2010: 3). Drawing on those historical developments, this essay takes cosmopolitanism as an ideal that posits that people are citizens of the world and are subject to a common normative standard. (Dunne, 2013: 348). By extension, it suggests that obligations and allegiances are to the universal category of humankind (Dunne, 2013: 348). There are limits to such a cosmopolitan ethical vision for IR. One can find limits in the vision s effectiveness and practicability of realising its proposals. As for effectiveness, cosmopolitan values (1) are extremely difficult to define and (2) fall short of being legally binding on international actors. These combine to undermine its assertion on the global stage. As for practicability, (1) there is moral debate as to who decides what cosmopolitanism ideals are; (2) it spells conflicts when it ... However, for Nellie this is quite the opposite. In Anton Chekhov s The Looking Glass character development, symbolism, and diction are used to communicate that reality upsets our expectations. Character Development is one of the most effective tools used to communicate the overall theme of The Looking Glass. Character Development is used in The Looking Glass to show the change of Nellie s perspective from the beginning of her vision to the end. In this excerpt, Nellie describes what she sees in the mirror It was he, the destined one, the object of long dreams and hopes. The destined one was for Nellie everything, the significance of life, personal happiness, career. Nellie s filled with new found wonder and excitement when she catches a glimpse of what she presumes to be her future husband. In Nellie s perspective her life has always been building up to find the perfect man and that man now stands before her in the mirror. It s apparent that not only did Nellie idolize her husband but she s seems very naive to not consider all the bad things that come with marriage. Life will test a relationship between wife and husband Nellie s perspective changes dramatically towards the end of the book, She looked into the looking glass and saw a pale, tear stained face. There was no grey background now. I must have fallen asleep, she thought with a sigh of relief. (Chekhov 7). Nellie has seen the full preview of what her life is supposed to be and she s horrified. Nellie no longer is a victim of her own naive complex she fully realizes that life is no picnic. The development of Nellie s perspective of what seemed like a bright future has been shattered by the universal fact that reality upsets expectations. We can never be certain of our future and setting up false hopes is setting yourself up for a rude awakening to reality. Character development was instrumental to the theme because it proves the point that our expectations for our future is not certainly not what we will receive no matter how hard we try to work towards. • 31. Defect Correction Is The Remediation Of A Software Condition Defect Correction Defect correction is the remediation of a software condition or result that contradicts or does not meet the needs of the software requirements (Defect, 2010). The agile test model is an automated and efficient process for detecting requirements and functionality variations (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). Also, unit testing activities are performed earlier within the life cycle and defects are identified sooner (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). The early identification of defects minimizes the costs for defect correction or rework (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). The accelerated timeframe allows teams to remediate defects before functionalities are demonstrated or sent to the customer for user acceptance testing (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). Without incremental methods, as evident in the waterfall model , identified defects are unknown until post customer delivery (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). As a result, the estimated costs for software development are exceeded to remedy code defects or cover the expense of rework for issues that customers identify post implementation (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). Finally, post development defects may result in the loss of customers given the impact and severity (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). An empirical study of development models revealed that agile model performance was superior to that of waterfall with respect to defect detection and cost control (Tarhan Yilmaz, 2014). For the most part, these early people of Europe could not read or write, and lived much as their nomadic ancestors had. In their isolation, they slowly cleared the forested areas for farming, but their greatest need was for protection. However, the need for protection grew to be most important when the Vikings from Scandinavia invaded many areas of Europe in the 8th and 9th centuries, followed by the Magyars, who came from the east in the late 9th century. In response, Europeans established feudalism as a way to unite and protect them. European feudal institutions revolved around political and military relationships. The feudal political order developed into a complicated network of lord vassal relationships, with lords having overlords, and overlords owing allegiance to kings. Some employees usually take great pride in their work and obtain satisfaction from performing their duties well. Such employees are innately motivated (Douglas McGregor: Theory X and Theory Y, 2015). Other employees are never proud of their work. They simply work because they believe that they cannot survive without their jobs. Such employees are externally motivated (they require an outside force to compel them to perform their duties) (Theory X and Theory Y: Understanding Team Member Motivation, 2016). These ideas about employee behavior and much more have been developed by social psychologist and managementprofessionals, such as Douglas Mc Gregor, Abraham Maslow, and Herzberg, in the form of theories to help managers and employees predict each other s behavior. This paper focuses on the Theory X and Theory Y, which were both developed by Douglas McGregor. It describes the theories and analyzes their effectiveness in predicting human behavior. Theory X and Theory Y Unlike other theories that usually focus on employees, Theory X and Theory Y focus on managers and the perceptions they have about their employees, which in turn influences their behavior towards their employees (Theory X and Theory Y: Understanding Team Member Motivation, 2016). If you or someone you know is in an untenable position in a family dispute, the best option is to seek legal advice as quickly as possible. Many people lose out in these situations because the emotional entanglements are more difficult to deal with than the legal ones. They become angry, hurt and frustrated... • 40. Persuasive Essay On National Security Today, Canadian s lives today are as translucent as ever. Most organizations especially the government constantly watches each and every one of our moves. From driving to the shopping mall to withdrawing money from the ATM machine, Canadians are being watched constantly. With Canada s commitment to advance technology and infrastructure in the 1960s, government surveillanceis much easier and much more prevalent than it was hundreds of years ago. Even as early as 1940s, the Dominion Bureau of Statistics used punch cards and machines to determine who is available for conscription in the military. Several ethnicity groups such as the Germans, the Italians, the Japanese, the Chinese and the Indians were removed from the military. Today, with the advancement of information technology such as the internet and high speed securitycameras, access to personal information by the government has never been much easier. For instance, airport security now uses finger printing, cameras, and electronic devices in passports that did not exist in the 1990s. For the majority of Canadians, this is a concern because it goes directly against their rights to freedom and privacy. For example, more than half of Canadians in 2012 said that they are against policeand intelligence services acquiring information on Canadians on social media sites. Two third of Canadians in the same year did not agree to the statement police and intelligence agencies should have more powers to ensure security even if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Coherence Theory Of Truth Essay Section 2.2: The Coherence Theory of Truth In his book Meditations on First Philosophy , Descartes writes that all beliefs, even the most irresistible convictions, may not correspond to how the world really is; and this is something that defenders of the correspondence theory are arguably unable to dismiss. As a result, the coherence theory takes a different approach and argues that a proposition (truth bearer) is true if it fits or coheres with a specific set of beliefs (truth maker). These beliefs may belong either to the individual (and include the laws of logic, for example), to human beings at the ultimate stage of historical development, or to a system of beliefs held by a God or the Absolute (Walker, 1989). So in the example where Billy believes that dogs have five legs , his claim can be assessed by considering if this statement coheres with a specific set of true beliefs. For instance, it may be commonly understood that dogs have four legs not five, that there has never been a dog with more than four legs, and that no one apart from Billy has ever claimed that dogs can have more than four legs. Thus, it follows that the key to determining whether Billy s statement is true or false is internal consistency and logical standards (Dunwoody, 2009, p. 117). Even though the coherence theory of truth differs from the coherence theory of knowledge, which states that a belief is justified if the belief coheres with a set of beliefs that forms a coherent system (Audi, ... • 42. Risk And Risk Of Risk The risk score represents the criticality order of the risks, while the risk priority number is used for assessing risk in a project and generally do not have a meaning on their own. In this case some of the numbers are identical for the risk scores and priority numbers; however this is not always the case. The reason for the duplicate numbers happens when the value is estimated to be smaller and the impact is bigger in one riskthan the other with a smaller impact. As you can see from the above charts it is critical for New Concepts to concentrate first and foremost on the quality and labor risks, followed swiftly by the financial risk. Risk Planning and Analysis Risk Planning and Analysis is used to develop risk responses which are options and actions to mitigate and reduce project threats. Risk responses delegate the owner for each potential risk and are agreed upon by all parties involved. There are four ways risk can be managed which are transferring risk, avoiding risk, reducing or mitigating risk and accepting risk. Transferring Risk: Risk can be transferred from an organization to its contractor and vice versa. This should be agreed upon prior to the project starting and detailed in the contract. All risk may not be transferred, sometimes only partial risk can be transferred. New Concepts may consider transferring risk to a contractor helping with coding when they do not believe they will not meet deadlines on a new system. Avoid Risk: Risk can be avoided ... • 45. The Pros And Cons Of Immigration Reform Reforming the system has wide support from Wall Street, advocacy groups, the American people, and politicians. Billionaires Warren Buffett, Bill Gates and Sheldon Adelson urged congress to regulate the flow of immigrants coming to the United States and provide them a path to citizenship. They highlighted the economic value to the U.S. if lawmakers made it easier for skilled foreigners to work in the country, and the need for dealing with the undocumented population in ways allegedly true to Americas forgiving and generous traditions (Tonolesen, 1). As recently as the 2014 midterm elections the majority of potential voters were found to support comprehensive immigrationreform. This partisan lack of cooperation by certain members of Congress was a far deterrence from their former opinion regarding the need for immigration reform just as recently as 2009 when former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice stated, This country needs comprehensive immigration reform. • 47. Channeling Communication Between the World and Us Through... By definition, sense perception is whereby the idea of sense is referred to the external stimulus in which we perceive our knowledge through while perception is defined to be the awareness towards something through our senses. Long before we learned how to use language, reasoning, faith, or emotions, we have already been making use of our external stimuluses to make senseor even be conscious of the world. This makes sense perceptionour primary source of obtaining knowledge since it is the only way for us to interact with the world around us. However, though it plays a requisite part for us in attaining knowledge, sense perception can both impede and limit our understanding of the world. In this essay, the strengths and weaknesses of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is similar to the way in which knowledge is deduced in human sciences. For example, in Anthropology, anthropologists make claims based on the observations they make of a particular community. These observations can range from the clothes the people in the community adorn, to the way in which they interact with one another. Without observing the community while being immersed in it, theories of communities or about their culture will never surface. While sense perception serves as our fundamental way of knowing, its strength of it being our predominant method of acquiring knowledge is its weakness as well. Due to the imperfection of our sensory organs, it generates inconsistent information gathered which subsequently affects the way we perceive knowledge. In the case of natural sciences, such a Biology, the obtainment of raw data sometimes requires the process of the image. For example, one might need to measure the size of the cell during the study of cytology. Human error is involved the moment a process of what is observed needs to be carried out. From various angles, the cell may appear slightly larger, while in other angles, slightly smaller, resulting in a variation of the data obtained. In such a case, how can one deduce that the data collected by one person is indeed accurate or false? Besides, we as humans generate our biasness towards everything, subconsciously or consciously. • 48. Capitalism And Feudalism Marx and Engels suggested that the bourgeois revolution destroyed everything that was once held sacred because people had to give up their dreams, passions, and occupations in order to provide for themsel The alienation of labor added insult to injury because workers were forced to sell themselves into slavery. The destruction of the feudalism, and the industrial revolution was what created capitalism. During the 19 century, the industrial revolution had allowed the once impoverished to become obtain wealth through manufacturing and creating jobs, which created new oppressors. The workers that they employed were alienated because they could afford the products they made while working harsh hours in horrible conditions. Which lead Marx to create the Communist Manifesto, which divided people into two classes: the property owners (Bourgeoisie) and the workers (proletariat) . He did this because felt pity for the workers and wanted to go back to simpler times and knew industrial societies were developed enough to have a workers revolution. This had led revolutions because the people he called the proletariat were outraged and wanted a better standard of living. Thus, leading to future revolutions throughout the world. To understand how capitalism started must first know what feudalism was. Feudalism was a medieval hierarchal power structure of King s, Nobles Knights, Peasants , and Serfs etc. The King ruled what was known as divine rights of kings. The king s rule was ...
