Superman s Real Hero Essay
British actor Michael Caine was quoted in the edition of Entertainment Weekly as saying
Superman is the way America sees itself, but Batman is the way the world sees America.
Although these two characters are classic comic book heroes they have also become the face of
America and how it has evolved over the many years. After analyzing the two articles Superman s
real identity: America s everyman by Gloria Goodale and Batmans War on Terror by Benjamin
Kerstein, Michael Caine is declaring that America s role in the world is subjected to different
viewpoints of its people and their values.
Superman is not only a classic American superhero but also a representation of the nation itself. His
characteristics reflect his identity and shape ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Superman does differ from most people in America as he strays away from involving
himself in any politics and focuses on the idea that his values are above mere politicians
(Goodale). Although as a young kid, he was just a superthug he grew to be the familiar role model
that stands for the nation and not for politics or anything that can divide the people of the United
States (Goodale).
Even though Superman is just a comic book character to some, he was created in the essence of
America and has evolved over the years with the nations gains and losses. Not only does
Superman focus on the representation of America but specially the view point of the country and
how it sees itself. Because he was created as an outsider he relates to the country in that it is a
nation of immigrants and follows the American values of truth, liberty, and justice that are given in
the constitution unlike any other country (Goodale). Just like Superman, America has a dual
identity. However, Americas dual identity is between its fundamentals of freedom, that it was built
on, and its new role as the world s sole superpower (Goodale). America is by far the youngest
country and has moved its way to the top very quickly which has made a huge impact on the society
that lives in it. Americans tend to see themselves with this confidence that resembles the success of
the country and embodies a patriotic respect for their nation. It

Reaction Lab Report Essay
Important equations:
Molarity = moles of solute / liters of solution
E = hОЅ = hc/О»
Elight = hОЅlight = hc/О»light = О”E = EUO EOO
Objective:
We will be using various combinations of distilled water, hydrogen peroxide, malonic acid, ascorbic
acid (Vitamin C), acetic acid (Vinegar), starch solution, laundry detergent, iodine tincture,
manganese sulfate, and sulfamic acid to produce multiple pairs of solutions labeled Solution A and
Solution B. The goal is to either observe the process of fluorescence or the absence of fluorescence.
Fluorescence is the chemical property of generating light after undergoing the process of absorbing
and emitting a certain amount of energy, directly causing a physical change in the substance s color.
Mixing Solution A and Solution B, while viewing the results under UV light from time to time,
should result in the new solution constantly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Make sure to pour Solution B into Solution A, then mix throughly.
Observations:
After swirling the resulting solution, its appearance kept cycling through the color yellow and
appearing colorless. However, there was constantly a small patch of blue residue caused by some
undissolved starch powder. There was some gas formation during this process. After 5 minutes, we
stopped swirling the beaker and let it sit in the fume hood. 15 to 20 minutes later, the solution
began to turn dark blue.
PART B:
Making ascorbic acid (Vitamin C solution)
Obtain one vitamin C tablet and place it into a mortar and pestle. Crush the tablet until it
becomes a fine powder. Next, move the powder into a new 50 mL beaker and pour exactly 1
tablespoon of distilled water into the beaker. Then, obtain a glass stir rod to partially mix the
solution, allowing any remaining solids to drown to the bottom of the beaker. Keep track of this
beaker since the acid will be utilized throughout the remainder of the

Apple also has an advantage on their low production cost because of its economies of scale and
these are the main reasons that contribute to Apple Company dominance in the market with respect
to new market entrants.
Another force, which is the threats of rivals doesn t affect Apple much and Apple Company is not
too concerned about these threats. When Apple first introduced the IPod and Iphone products, their
company rose to the top of the market immediately and it made them the top leader of the mobile
electronic market.
Apple Company has created a strong brand name which represents quality and classy products.
The brand has also built up customer loyalty throughout these years and they gained a lot of trust
from their product users. Apple eventually leads when it comes to quality because their product
such as MacBook recorded only 17.4% failure rate which is actually lower than a lot of their
competitors. Besides that, Apple also stayed two years ahead of its competitors. They designed and
worked on products that are launched today two years ago such as the Iphone 6 which is launched
today were actually designed and worked on from year 2012. Even though they are ahead in the
market, Apple does not stagnate but instead conducted continuous improvement and innovation to
make sure that there are fearless of their rivals in the industry.

United Kingdom s Royal Air Force is the world s oldest air force, created on April 1st 1918, it
became the first air force independent from army or navy control. The Royal Air Force (RAF)
was the merger of the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Naval Service, and was under command
of the British Government Air Ministry. The RAF was granted its independence because it was
believed that it would allow the opportunity to carry out the maximum effectiveness of what it
was capable of, and would allow the air force to provide the upmost proficiency in their missions.

Attacks on the most vulnerable targets were chosen: the destruction of oil, transportation, the air
craft industries were regarded as the most crucial targets, but in what order they were attacked
was decided upon operational experience of the commander. The destruction caused by these
strategic bombings placed a ceiling on Germany s war production. The frequent attacks on the
aircraft factories caused significant interruption to the flow of things being manufactured for the
war. In effort to reduce the chance of factories being bombed, larger factories were dispersed into
smaller units, and in doing so these elaborate dispersals caused additional acute problems in the
supply. These attacks proved to be so effective that it reduced the German aircraft production in
France to a total of 2,500 aircrafts for the whole war

Six Principal Of Persuasion
The Six Principals of Persuasion
Reciprocity is humans need to reciprocate a good or bad deed that has been done to them. In the
context of persuasion it is the persuader offering something, such as a good or service, to the
person being persuaded, so they feel the need to take the persuaders point of view
Scarcity is explaining that something isn t readily available or is disappearing fast. For example a
salesman can use scarcity to persuade someone to buy a product that is going out of stock.
Authority is using the statements of someone or an institution that holds a position of authority to
support your statements. The World Heath Organization states that the definition of health is: The
state of physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
This is an example of using the Authority of the World Health Organization... Show more content

Did the persuader write down their argument on an online blog where they can be rebutted from
anyone that reads the article or did they approach you in segregated location? The more publicly or
permanently accessible the persuasion is then the more it appeals to the Commitment and
Consistency.
Consensus is if other people share the same views as the person persuading. If it s a view that
many people hold, it carries more weight. This is because people speculate examples like, if all
these people think that this brand is the best TV, then it must be pretty good.
Liking is how similar the person persuading us, is to us. An example is if I had 4 children, and
the person selling me a washing machine also had four children, his persuasion for me to purchase
the washing machine would be a lot more effective because he was similar to me, and I would see
him as being able to empathize with my

Decline of Blanche DuBois in Tennessee Williams A...
The Unnecessary Decline of Blanche DuBois in A Streetcar Named Desire
Upon reviewing the drama, A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams, it would appear that
the character of Blanche DuBois is worthy of closer inspection. With her previous occupation as a
teacher of American literature and her former social status being that of a well bred woman of the
very traditional Old South, Blanche could be any human being transferring from one culture to
another with customs far different from the ones being left behind. Even today it could happen that
someone is suddenly confronted with a totally new and different value system with which he must
learn to cope in order to be accepted into his new environment. That is the ... Show more content on

Blanche depends on manner, on affected little girl innocence, to sustain her (Hirsch 33). That is
quite evident at the very beginning of the play when she seems to be disgusted by the way her
sister lives with her husband. However, Blanche s evasive explanation of her early arrival, before
the end of the spring term at the school in Laurel, is a clear indication that something went wrong
with Blanche. In her first meeting with Stanley it becomes quite clear that Stanley and Blanche are
antagonist and protagonist. Twice in scene 1, a cat screeches near the window, startling Blanche
and now summoning up a cat and mouse image for the relationship between Stanley and Blanche
(Londre 47).
In the second scene, the audience witnesses Blanche s obsessive bathing, just to quiet my nerves
(Williams 39) as she told her sister Stella, but it is a nominal gesture of guilt and wished for
redemption (Bloom 16). In a single moment of deviation from her mood of gaiety in this scene,
Blanche withholds a faded, ribbon tied sheaf of love letters: Poems a dead boy wrote. I hurt him
that way you would like to hurt me ... (Williams 41). That shows her feeling of guilt about the death
of her husband.
In the same scene Stanley reveals to Blanche that he is going to check her papers from Belle Reve,
inheritance having taken on added importance as Stella has taken on added girth with her
pregnancy. At that news, Blanche rushes to

Analysis Of Nineteen Shades Of Grey
There was a movie which was called Fifty Shades of Grey was released on February 2015. It had
a number of controversies when it was just on show. That was because this film was based on E.

Michael Heim s Virtual Reality
Michael Heim describes virtual reality as an event or entity that is real in effect but not in fact . He
states, There is a sense in which any simulation makes something real that in fact is not . In his
essay, The Essence of VR, Heim goes on to define this term by examining the seven divergent
concepts currently guiding VR research , which is stimulation, interaction, artificiality, immersion,
telepresence, full body immersion, and network communications (1993:109 114).
Heim notes that certain analysts attempt to dodge the term virtual reality since it appears to make
great cases for it. At MIT and NASA, they incline toward virtual situations, and a few colleges
would rather there be virtual planets. As a thinker, Heim is not reluctant to make extraordinary
and respectable cases for virtual reality, which he recommends may reasonably be viewed as the
Holy Grail of machine exploration: Perhaps the substance of VR in the long run lies not in
engineering yet in craftsmanship, maybe specialty of the most noteworthy request. As opposed to

The United States s Reconstruction Policies During The...
By March 1863, Union forces had taken control of the sugar planting region and reported that all
the slaves had come within their lines. Fellow sugar planter Andrew McCollam reported that he
had only a few hands left and he doubted he would be able to do more than manage the seed cane.
Viguerie, along with hundreds of Louisiana soldiers, including William A. Bisland of Terrebonne,
surrendered on May 26, 1865 in New Orleans. Viguerie was paroled to New Iberia, Louisiana on
June 6, 1865. He was released shortly after. Louisiana was the only region deep within the
Confederacy where Union authorities implemented experimental Reconstruction policies during the
Civil War. Louisiana responded to President Abraham Lincoln
s plan to readmit southern states into
the Union by selecting delegates to write a new constitution. The Constitution of 1864 abolished
slavery and disposed of Louisiana s old order of rule by planters and merchants, although it did not
give African Americans voting power. It was the first state charter to incorporate Lincoln s
conciliatory approach and was the leading test case for postwar policy. Lincoln s Emancipation
Proclamationof 1863 did not apply to Union held territory. Thus, slavery continued in the thirteen
Louisiana parishes under Union control. After much debate, delegates to the constitutional
convention agreed to abolish slavery without compensation for masters but not to give the vote to
black men. The new constitution, however, authorized

Capitalism and the free world have long been intertwined in their state of dependency. Reaping
insurmountable benefits, this economic system has become fully entrenched in our society,
elevating itself to a deity. In the 2009 documentary, Capitalism: A Love Story , film maker Michael
Moore advocates the blasphemous notion that capitalismis evil . Although the documentary targets
an American audience, its representation of capitalist corruption resonates globally. Throughout the
documentary Moore mercilessly critiques the status quo while illustrating his condemnation with
stark portraits of suffering ensued by economic crises to question the price that America is willing
to pay for its love affair with capitalism. Despite blatant bias,... Show more content on

interviewees, Moore constructs a vivid diatribe against private enterprise. This poignant, satirical

Essay on Casualties of World War I
The First World War witnessed an appalling number of casualties. Due partly to this fact, some
historians, developed the perception that commanders on both sides dependence on only one
disastrous approach to breaking the stalemate. These historians attributed the loss of life to the
reliance on soldiers charging across no man s land only to be mowed down by enemy
machineguns. The accuracy of this, however, is fallacious since a variety of tactics existed on both
sides. The main reason for battlefield success and eventual victory came from the transformation of
battlefield tactics; nevertheless, moral played a major role by greatly affecting the development of
new tactics and the final outcome of the war.

These officers claimed that the German s would subjugate France to a similar punishment that
Russia received in the Treaty of Brest Litovsk. The soldiers concurred with their officers and agreed
to return to the front lines (Smith 190). The French High Command, however, did not value the
treatment of enlisted men as equals and order the executions of a number of the mutineers. The
French Command, also, decided that the prudent decision to stop impending mutinies would be the
ending of on any new large scale offensive (Smith 195). With the comprehension that moral could
collapse further the Allies turned to a handful of new tactics to minimize the number of deaths that
occurred.
From observations from the battlefield and experimentation the Allies developed a number of
tactics that allowed them to gain substantially more ground than in the past while reducing the
number of casualties. To reduce wastage, the number of soldiers killed during a normal day, the
French adopted the use of difeme en profondeur (defence in depth)... (Smith 195). The British,
also, developed the tactic Bite and Hold that centered on advancing troops only as far as they could
hold, which reduced the chance of a successful German counterattack. Both the British and French
developed the creeping barrage to force the Germans defenders to stay under cover until the
attackers advanced up to the German lines. With these new tactics and more available to them the
allies could

Education Is An Important Aspect Of Teaching And Teaching
Critically evaluate the extent that performativity in education has on developing creativity in
learning and teaching and assess the impact that this has on individuals
Introduction
As a concept towards education, performativity is one that seems to strongly divide opinion. There
are many scholars who argue that an increasing emphasis on performativity within education has a
detrimental effect on the levels of creativity that students and teachers can demonstrate, and in turn
negatively effects the results of the educational process. On the other hand there are those that
believe that performative analysis within education plays an important role in highlighting areas of
success, and areas that require improvement. Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education) agree
that creativity is an important aspect of teaching and learning, however they also believe that a
disciplined structure is important to allow this creativity to be successful:
Occasionally, teachers fail to grasp that creative learning was not simply a question of allowing
pupils to follow their interests; careful planning was needed for enquiry, debate, speculation,
experimentation, review and presentation to be productive. (Ofsted, 2010)
Fostering creativity in education is intended to address many concerns. As Parkhurst summarises,
this includes dealing with ambiguous problems, coping with the fast changing world and facing an
uncertain future (Parkhurst, 1999). Other scholars such as Poole (1980) argue

Why Is Christopher Columbus Considered A Foreign Explorer
In the year of 1451 a protГ©gГ© was born. His name was Christopher Columbus and he was
born in Genoa, Italy. In his adulthood, he was known all over the world as the best explorer and
navigator. He had numerous discoveries in his lifetime and was fancied by many rulers who
sought what he sought. However, he had very high demands on what he would receive if
sponsored, so many foreign rulers rejected him and his demands. He was a Catholic and this stood
out to Queen Isabella because she wanted to spread Catholicism to non believers. This gave
Columbus a better standing with the queen. In Spain, a new federal power was beginning to drive
the Moors out of the Iberian Peninsula and this would increase the availability of resources to the
monarchs on this land. This involved the king and it pushed him towards sponsoring Columbus
because he was so familiar with the land. They soon agreed with all of Columbus claims and
sponsored his voyage in search of a water route from Europeto the East Indies. Columbus was
foreign to the country of Spain, so this leaves people to wonder why would Queen Isabella and
King Ferdinand sponsor a foreign explorer for such an important voyage? Since Columbus was not
from Spain he was considered a foreign explorer. A monarchfrom another country would only want
a foreign explorer if they had expertise in their field of voyaging. The explorers would most likely
be chosen if they shared common interests with the monarch, because they would help benefit

The Awakening By William Shakespeare
Intro:
Throughout the Awakening, Edna is able to find some liberation in each of the various places she
inhabits, yet it is immediately countered by misery and unfulfillment. This holds true even until the
end of the novel when the reader is left with the question of whether Edna has truly found a setting
in which she can finally feel whole and be her true self.
Grand Isle: The novel begins with Edna, her husband Leonce, and her two children vacationing in
the island of Grand Isle for the summer. When Edna is in Grand Isle her life still consists of her
husband who suffocates her identity as an individual the same way the water traps the land of
Grand Isle. There is no easy escape from it, because it would have been easier to simply carry on
than to go against the time period. Therefore, the vacation also represents her easier life, though
it may feel unfulfilled; she is able to find some temporary liberation from the house in New
Orleans. Edna must discover the island within herself. In the beginning of the novel Edna s
character is introduced into the novel, she is titled as the wife of Leonce, yet the rest of the
characters are mentioned simply by name and possibly followed by a physical description, with no
explanation of their relevance or relationship to the situation. This is done to illustrate the idea that
Edna, at this point in time, is not an individual. Her role in society and her community is defined
by her bounding ties to her marriage and the

In How to Tame a Wild Tongue by Gloria Anzaldua, she speaks from personal experiences she
grows up with while living as a Chicana in the United States. Throughout her life she was
subjected to being oppressed because of her native language. From a very young age she felt as
if she was not allowed to express and acknowledge herself while speaking Spanish. Anzaldua
believes that If you want to really hurt me, talk bad about my language. Ethnic identity is twin
skin to linguistic identity I am my language . What I get from this quote is if a person is really

Anzaldua repeats this claim throughout the text, informing her readers about language
discrimination within the people that share the same culture as she does but not the same language.
Anzaldua s audience is everyone, ranging from immigrants to native United States citizens. In her
text she uses examples that many people can relate to when English isn t their first language or
they have a unique difference from the majority. An example I chose to back up my claim is one
from Anzaldua s past experiences, this takes place in her childhood dentist office where from the
imagery she gives us shows she annoyed with some of the state the dentist is saying about her
strong [and] stubborn (206) tongue. Even though the comments made by the dentist wasn t
directed towards her language and accent, the way she feels while he s speaking to her show that
she already has some insecurities with the way she speaks. She believes that her language is
something that defines her, and if people have a problem with how she speaks they have made up
negative assumptions about her.
Throughout this essay, Anzaldua hold a prideful yet informative tone. When she tells her stories
from her childhood, the tone changes to disbelief as she remembers all hardships she had to go
through. Anzaldua gives another example of when her teachers mispronounced her name and as
she tried to correct them they told her If she wants

The, The American Academy Of Environmental Medicines Essay
Breck Erickson Based on animal research with GM (genetically modified) foods, the American
Academy of Environmental Medicines (AAEM), an international organization of physicians,
says that there are serious health risks associated with eating GM foods. for these reasons we
should not allow farmers to use GM products (2011, Smith). Based on many studies there are
very many reasons to ban GMOs (Genetically Mortified Organisms). Although there are a few
positive effects to GMOs like not having to spray the fields with different herbicides and
pesticides, there are also many unfavorable reasons to use and ban GMOs. These include slight
differences in yields, the inability to track GMOs in sugars, and the negative health effects. On
reason to ban the use of GMOs is because they don t make much of a difference in yields of the
crops that are being grown. According to Melissa Diane Smith (2011) an expert in nutrition and

Causes Of The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
The conflict between Jews and Palestinian Arabs is a struggle over land that began around the turn
of the 20th century. Unfortunately, ever since the conflict began, little to no progress has been
made in solving the Israeli Palestinian conflict. There is a tremendous amount of history
encompassing the dispute because it changes dramatically depending on which side is describing
their point of view and when they believe the conflict started. The United States, Great Britain, the
United Nations, and many other countries have attempted to mediate both parties in order to work
towards a solution; however, all of their efforts have been unsuccessful because the Israeli
Palestinian conflict is the direct result of Great Britain s lack of ability to maintain consistent
foreign policy in Israel, Palestine, and Egypt.
The fundamental issue in the Israeli Palestinian conflict remains who has rights to the land which
encompasses Israel, the Gaza Strip, and the West Bank. Jewish claims to the land are based on the
biblical promise to Abraham and his descendants, on the fact that Palestine was the historical site of
the Jewish kingdom of Israel and on Jews need for a haven from European anti Semitism. On the
other hand, Palestinian Arabs claims to the land are based on continuous residence in the country
for hundreds of years and the fact that they represented the demographic majority. Arabs engage the
biblical argument, and claim since Abraham s son Ishmael is the forefather of

The Dynamic Gastric Model ( Dgm )
The dynamic gastric model (DGM) was invented and designed by Dr. Martin Wickham and Dr.
Richard Faulks from the United Kingdom. Even though the model is only half the size of the
human digestive system, it can be used to investigate the effects of diet, drugs, alcohol and other
factors on digestion. The figure is made of plastic and metal and is composed in two parts. The
upper section is a funnel and a cylinder shaped container where food, enzyme, and gastric acidare
mixed. After the hydration reaction, the mixture is transported down a metal tube to get crushed
and is later stored in a transparent container to test the level of fat, protein or bacteria. Based on the
various functions of the model, technology replaces human body and is ethically friendlier. Hence
DGM well illustrates the digestive system, which brings a great contribution to development in
science.
The major limitation that differs dynamic gastric model from real organism is the inability to
process active transportation. Without transport channel, molecules could not flow against the
gradient. Consequently, the model fails to mimic the property of parietal cells, which the
hydrochloric acid is secreted by active transport into the stomach of hydrogen ion against a
concentration gradient of about 1 million to 1. Thus, the limitation of the model does show the
detail and uniqueness of a living organism.
On the other hand, dynamic gastric model mimics real organism from dialysis tubing, uneven
mixing,

The Social Acceptance Of Alcohol
INTRODUCTION: The social acceptance of alcohol all over the world, whether it be social or
cultural, is the leading cause of why alcohol addiction is so prevalent especially in the United
States. Alcohol is the second leading cause of death in the US and one of the most abused drugs
worldwide. It is the third leading preventable cause of death in the United States with nearly 88,000
peaople dying from it annually (AlcoholFacts and Statistics). There are many facts and statistics
that are available throughout the internet and pamphlets that are passed around in school,
however, this does not seem to scare those away from binge drinking. Drinking too much has
many harmful effects on many of your body s organs and immune system and can increase the
risk of many cancers such as liver, breast, and esophagus cancers. To many people, alcohol is not
a serious issue especially because it is used so commonly but thousands and thousands of people
are killed throughout the United States every year because of this preventable issue. As a public
health provider, I believe that alcohol abuseis a detriment to our society because of how many lives
are taken from it. Alcohol addictioncan cause many health problems and personality changes that
not only affects one person, but can also affect their friends and family. The problem that makes
alcohol addiction so frustrating is that it is completely preventable because of the resources that are
available to help a person quit.

Texting Is Not Safe ! Haha
I can not discuss this now. Driving and Facebooking is not safe! Haha. were the last words of
Taylor Sauer, before her car traveling at 80 mph slammed into a tanker truck (Hosansky 407). At
just 18, a Utah State University student lost her life due to the distraction that millions of
Americans find themselves facing: smartphones. While on her way to visiting family in Idaho, one
bad decision resulted in her death. I think she was probably texting to stay awake, she was probably
tired, stated her father. But that s not a reason to do it, and the kids think they re invincible. To
them, texting is not distracting; they are so proficient at texting that they don t feel it s distracted
driving. (Hosansky 407). Taylor s father raised an essential question: Are teenagers unaware of the
damage that their favorite devices can cause if misused? Smartphones raise a serious concern,
especially among parents. This is due to both the psychological damage and danger that
smartphones place on their children whose brains are not yet fully developed. According to a study
conducted on 404 undergraduate students, three fourths felt that they are dependent on their

issues, safety concerns, and distractions all which can be detrimental to society. One of the most

Native Language And Indigenous Language
Language is one of many components that identify a group of people to their culture. Unfortunately,
there are quite a few obstacles that challenge indigenous people learning their native language. The
loss of a language distances groups farther from their native roots, which is exactly opposite of the
efforts being made in Canada. Learning and practicing an indigenous languagefulfills one s role as
an engaged citizen and allows for engagement within a culture. The McGill Tribune published Jenny
Shen s article discussing these common issues regarding revitalizing indigenous languages in
Canada. Shen interviews Chelsea Vowel, a woman of MГ©tis descent, who has committed herself
to indigenous language education. Vowel states, The language is what holds our culture together
like glue. There is no separation in my mind. She also points out that it has become harder for
people of indigenous descent to learn their language for a number of reasons. Problems that arise
consist of not being completely engaged in the native language, deciphering between dialects, and
funding issues. The loss of indigenous languages in Canada is a contemporary issue of great
concern because many indigenous and nonindigenous people realize the extent of culture loss once
a language has dissipated. Shen also gathered information from Anna Daigneult, the Latin America
project coordinator and development officer at Living Tongues Institute for Endangered Languages.

King Henry V Character Analysis
Throughout history, it has been difficult to have a dynastic succession produce good leaders.
However, in William Shakespeare s Henry V, King Henry V is acclaimed as the dynastic successor
to England. Henry has a valid claim to the French throne, but France already has a successor, the
Dauphin. With some convincing and financing from the clergy, Henry decides to fight for his place
as the French heir. In the Battle of Agincourt, Henry demonstrates strong leadership at a young
age. As previously explained in Act I, Henry s father died when he was young, and Henry V
gained a new demeanor and changed his wild ways into proper ethics for royalty. Henry s
personality change leads to his noble leadership, and he seems to lead by example and in words
even as a young king. King Henry s conduct causes him to be a just ruler. King Henry s morality,
impartiality, and authority cause him to be a just ruler. King Henry s morality causes him to be
a just ruler. When Henry rises to the throne, he sheds his reckless personality as much as
possible, and he even distances himself from an old friend, John Falstaff. King Henry becomes
a morally and mentally sound king for England. Henry gains important morals for a ruler such as
humility, grace, piety, and wisdom even at his young age. Henry shows a glimpse of his
humility when he addresses the soldiers before the siege of Harfleur to inspire them for battle.
Henry says that they all must go Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once / more (3.1.1 2).
By addressing the soldiers as dear friends, Henry acknowledges them as equals and even goes as
far as saying that they are his comrades. His humility is loved by his people, so they respond as
motivated and united front for England. A good leader must never hold his/her head higher than
his/her subjects because this makes the ruler more popular when he/she considers all people
equally. Also, Henry is loved by the Church for his piety and other morals. As the Bishop of
Canterbury and the Bishop of Ely discuss the bill about to be passed which would tax the church,
the Bishops mention that Henry V is full of grace and fair reward. / And a true lover of the Church

Symbols In The Chinese Language
The language I decided to research is Chinese. I always found the language to be very interesting
due to the fact when it s written they use symbols. Granted they are not the only language that s
written using symbols, but they are the only language that uses what I would think to be considered
lines to form letters and words. The Chinese languageis one of the oldest written language in the
world with six thousand years of history. Chinese characters have been found in turtle shells
going as far back as the Shang dynasty. Proving the language has been around for more than three
thousand years and that s a long time. It also makes me wonder how long and how much work
goes into learning how to write, speak, and pronounce the words that form to create the Chinese
alphabet. The Chinese written language uses symbols and characters to represent each word of the
vocabulary. Most of the characters are written versions of spoken sounds that have meaning. A
large dictionary contains 40,000 characters. You must be able to say 2,000 3,000 characters to read
a newspaper. That alone has me disbelief as to how they can memorize so much, then again it may
be simple for people who have been doing it since birth it also honestly had me in shock as I thought
of how much information that is to hold / memorize. Although the written symbols have changed
over time the language along with the symbols and characters have remained the same. Although
many forms of Chinese exist the written language

Leinaweaver Child Circulation Summary
In Jesseca B. Leinaweaver s Child Circulation: Kinship, Adoption and Morality in Andean Peru,
Leinaweaver s central point is on how the movement of the children play a part on how kinship is
determined socially. It examines the phenomenon of formal and informal adoption practices. The
descriptive anthropology deals with a universal perspective on culture. What is made utile through
the circulation of children is gender, adoption and kinship to influence the organization of the
Andean community. Kinship means where you are from and where family ties in together.

At the beginning of the course, we also learned about feminist anthropology and how it initially
focused on women, gender construction, and gender inequality, increasingly concerned with
power and inequality in general. Using a reading from class, I am able to understand how social
constructions of gender is able to vary cross culturally. The Berdache Tradition explains the
difference between sex and gender. Sex is a biological form when gender can be perceived more
as a choice. Meaning, there are more than two genders. It is able to be varied among cultures. In
the reading, men played a third gender, doing housework. In some of the cultures, the berdache is

Many Native Americans were able to understand that gender roles had to do with more than just a
biological sex. Individuals were a part of the natural order of the universe itself, with something
special to contribute. This all helped me with the understanding of gender relations to understand
the lives of the adopted children in Ayacucho,

The Four Classifications Of Minority Serving Institutions
Before I began researching, I thought there were only four different designations for Minority
Serving Institutions. I was wrong. There is a range of designations for universities qualifying as
minority serving. Under Title III and V of the Higher Education Act of 1965 between sections, 316
and 320 there are six different categories. In this paper, we will begin with the overarching point of
understanding Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). We will then break apart the primary four
MSIs, the meaning, the purpose, and the progress and expansion of minority serving institutions.
The designation given to these institutions may seem like an alphabet soup but are really important
in understanding the different audiences that these institutions serve, and the ways they function.
Historically are represented by four of the most known classifications consisting of Hispanic

Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISI), and Tribal Colleges and

I Go Back To May 1937 Summary
It s clear to whoever is reading, I Go Back to May 1937, written by Sharon Olds, that the author
of the piece mustn t have had the easiest early life, and upon further investigation those
assumptions are proven. After years of denial, Olds began starting to admit that her pieces were
reflections of her own feelings and experiences as she got older. The fact that her poems are based
on personal events make them even darker and harder to read. Olds grew up in an extremely
conservative household run by her alcoholic father. Singularly those two things are what nightmares
are made out of, but put together it seems more like Hell. Which, considering how religious the
leaders of the household were, is rather symbolic. The literature and film content

Analysis Of The Article Your Mother Is Your Bones ...
Critical Responses to the Novel Orville Schell wrote the article Your Mother is in Your Bones about
The Joy Luck Club. Schell starts out by giving some historical background information on China,
about those emigrating in order to escape Communism and how Asian immigrants didn t fit in
America as easily as Europeans did. He also talks about Chinatowns and other struggles immigrants
faced. He talks about the strange phenomena where Chinese Americans were bound to China by
heritage, but they had never even been there. He then summarizes the events of the novel, focusing
on June and her dynamic with her motherand the rest of the Joy Luck Club. He talks about the
stories told by each of the mothers, describing them as surreal and magical. He says that the
formatting of the novel using all the different stories places the reader into the shoes of a Chinese
immigrant trying to navigate their way to becoming more Americanized. He says that the novel
could ve been written in a patronizing way or could ve been clichГ©, but because of Amy Tan s

William Shakespeare s The Midsummer Night Nights Dream
There are many characters in a Midsummers Nights Dream that could stand out, as the main
character, Lysander, however is definitely one of these main characters in the play. Lysander is a
lover and is a part of the group of four that focus on their issues with love in this play. Lysander
indefinitely relates to the theme of loves difficulty and the nature of romantic love. Although
besides the themes of the play being important to understanding Lysander s character, the way he
is portrayed, via. Movie and play matter just as much. Shakespeare has a specific intention for
the portrayal of Lysander s character; there are two movie versions of this play that both have
their own portrayal of Lysander. The question that arises from these two different portrayals of
Lysander s character is; how do they relate to Shakespeare s idea of how Lysander should be

The dominant theme in a Midsummers Nights Dream is love, the nature of romantic love and
loves difficulty. This is a subject that Shakespeare is known for. He returns constantly to this
theme in all of his comedies. Shakespeare explores how people tend to fall in love with those who

A Brief Note On The Area Of Engine Position Management
1.1.Objective and Goal of the Project The project is done in the area of engine position
management which is used in gasoline 4 stroke engines. During the development of device
drivers for the engine, it is very important to test each and every feature of the device driver.
Before going to the vehicle testing or software integration, the device driver software has to be
tested completely. For this purpose, mini test benches can be used. This test setup should provide
the necessary input signals to the driver software which is to be tested. The main input signals
needed for the testing includes crank sensor and cam sensor signals. These signals help us to
determine the crank and cam wheel positions and also calculate the engine speed at which the
engine is running at that particular time. The existing mini test bench allows the engine speed
information to be changed manually. The actual engine speed dynamics in the real engine/vehicle
cannot be simulated. They are not capable of changing the engine speed in a specific pattern
driven over time. They are not cost effective. The objective of this project comes from
disadvantages of the existing test equipments. The main aim is to create a mini test bench setup to
generate Cam and Crank Signals. The Setup should be able to allow testing of device driver
software without the need of Vehicle. It should allow engine speed to change manually. The setup
should allow the engine speed variation in a pre defined pattern without the

Biography Of Shirin Neshat, The Third Religious City Of Iran
Born in Qazvin, the third religious city in Iran, in 1957, Shirin Neshat was sent to the United States
at the age of 17, to study art at the UC Berkley. Her father was a physician, who under the influence
of the westernization the fashionable idea of the era and rejecting all the traditional values, sent his
children abroad to continue their studies.
After receiving her MFA in painting, willing to learn more about the western art, Neshat moved to
New York, attended many art classes and artists meetings, and that was when she met her future
husband, a Korean curator Kyong Park, who was the director and founder of Storefront for Art and
Architecture. She calls that time as a good opportunity to get exposed to different artistic ideas and
events.
Stranded in America by the 1979 Islamic revolution in Iran, Neshat returned to her country in 1990
for the first time. She found this journey extremely shocking, due to the huge amount of difference
in Iranian costumes and social behavior, between the after revolution time, and what she could
remember. I had never been in a country that was so ideologically based . She could remember that

dictatorship and the influences of the Western beauty industry, was adopted by educated feminists
in the 1960s and 1970s, and now many women treated the chador as a captive uniform.

constitution and national parliament, though it was not truly democratic. The modernization of the
nation also made Japan richer and more economically stable, with a structured education system.
Japan, an impotent, closed feudal state, was transformed into a formidable nation focused on
nationalism. In attempt to acquire strength and unity in the government, political changes focused
on creating a centralized government and a western constitution. In consequence, the Japanese
government became more united and organized. As the western... Show more content on

By the end of the Meiji Restoration, Japan had taken its inevitable part in the international scene. As
the government and economy adjusted, the society took on many changes as well, such as the
adoption of the Western culture, a reform in the education system, and the instillation of
nationalism in Japan. The desire to be perceived as an equal by Westerners resulted in the adoption
of the Western culture in the Japanese society. There were changes in the fashion as well as food
and cuisine. Western style haircuts were ubiquitous in the Japanese streets during 1870, while the
introduction to bread, beef and dairy products made their way to the community subsequently. With
the aim of a modernized society, the Meiji government also found an organized education system a
vital aspect, thus instituting the Terokoya system. This change in education also launched the
establishment of the Ministry of Education, which had an aim of providing education for all
people. In 1868, almost 13,000 terakoyas were constructed with 837,000 students. (Miocevich, 30)
By 1910, an immense advancement was made, as 98% of Japanese students were given
compulsory education. (Miocevich, 30) Clearly, the Japanese had made education a priority.
Finally, nationalism was probably the most prominent change in the Japanese society during the
Meiji Restoration. As Japan grew stronger as a

As a post civil rights baby, Chance the Rapper s political consciousness and the has been framed
in various ways, largely contributing to his artistic works and approach to social activism. As a
recipient of the labor gains made after the Civil Rights Act of 1964, his middle class upbringing
created a political framework for him to assess the conditions of black Chicagoans who are
marginalized. Specifically, as the son of Ken Williams Bennett, deputy chief of staff to current
mayor of the city, Rahm Emmanuel. Additionally, as a part of the second wave of the Hip Hop

traditions; a craft that he mastered while attending art programs, which educated him on the power
of the written word. This training helped him to become a respected lyricist, proven by the request
for him to eulogize the late boxing legend, Muhammad Ali; an invite that most rappers will never
receive (Austen). He has also been hailed as the most celebrated rapper of 2016 and heir to Kanye
West and Kendrick Lamar (Austen). This confirms the care and preparation (he spent five hours
recording a verse) that goes into Chance s lyrical contributions and the high level he operates
on(Austen). More importantly, his nonprofit, SocialWorks, which empowers youth through arts,
education and civic engagement uses the OpenMike imitative, to offer an opportunity for youth to
craft their lyrical skills (SocialWorks). Named in memory of his mentor, Mike Hawkins, this
resource conjures up the emotional wealth that DuBois speaks of because it allows for minority
youth, who come from the most blighted neighborhoods in Chicago, to express their experiences

various other challenges that youth in harsh inner cities face. Therefore, Chance uses his career to

Examining the Existing Role of the Emergency Medical...
Introduction
Health care is rapidly transforming to meet the demands of rising health care cost; aging Baby
boomers; and the shift from acute care settings to the community and primary care centers.
However, with the threat of the nursing shortage health care providers are positioning themselves to
develop innovative ways to meet the demand for health care. The Center for Medicare and
Medicaid Services (CMS) is offering billions of dollars in innovative grants to health care
providers to find projects that test healthcare payment and delivery health care models to meet
the goal of the Triple Aim; lowered cost, improved patient experience, and improved outcomes. (
CMS .org) One of the latest initiatives is the expansion of the role of the Emergency Medical
Service (EMS) provider to the new role of the Community Paramedic (CP). The purpose of this
paper is examine the existing role of the EMS provider, the evolution of Community Paramedic, the
overlapping roles and responsibilities the RN and the CP, and the regulatory framework needed to
support creation of the CP s to ensure patient safety.

Alzheimer s disease. Alice struggles to maintain her lifestyle even as her sense of self is being

Haroun and the Sea of Stories: Magic Meets Real World Haroun and the Sea of Stories is a
children s novel, written by Salman Rushdie, who is one of the prominent authors of magical
realism in English literature. The novel brings together real world elements and features of magic or
the supernatural. Using elements of literature such as made up words and rhyming throughout
Haroun and the Sea of Stories, Rushdie showcases why he is a distinguished author of magical
realism. (Warnes) The novel begins by introducing the city in which the main character lives.
Rushdie calls it the sad city because the citizens are so depressed, they have forgotten the city s
actual name. Haroun and his parents are the only people not depressed. Rashid, Haroun s father,
is a famous story teller. The depressed citizens solely care about facts and see no purpose in
these made up stories. Haroun s upstairs neighbor, Mr. Sengupta, is always complaining to
Haroun s mother about these stories and eventually runs off with her. This leads to the main
conflict of the story, Rashid becoming so sad he forgets how to tell his stories. (Rushdie, 12 26)
Rashid needs to perform stories for multiple politicos, but draws a blank. After angering the
politicos, they send him to Valley of K. Haroun and his father go to the bus station so they can ride
to the Valley of K, and eventually convince a psychotic bus driver, Mr. Butt, to take

Explain the Factors Which Make It Difficult to Amend the...
Q. Explain the factors which make it difficult to amend the US Constitution (15 marks) To amend
the US Constitution, a bill has to go through a two stage process: proposal and ratification. The
proposal stage has to have two thirds majority in both the House of Representatives and the
Senate. Every successful amendment has started this way and even the failed ones. A proposal
can also be made by a Constitutional convention, which is a one off body which is put together for
a specific purpose, and this is called by Congress on petition by two thirds of the states. This
method has never been used. The problem with this proposal method is that the Constitution doesn
t state how it should be done and there is no mechanism. There are,... Show more content on

However, there are implications for ratification. Thirty eight states are needed for ratification.
The problem with this is that there are huge variations in political culture of states the South is
known to be Conservative, North East or West Coast is known to be liberal/Cosmopolitan, North
is known to be urban and industrial and the Midwest is known to be rural and agricultural.
Therefore, with the differences in political culture, there are demands for a nationwide consensus
which can prove difficult. An example of this was the Equal Rights Act which failed to pass the
ratification stage as it was 3 states shy of the 38 needed to pass the ratification stage. It was
argued that there was already the 14th Amendment which states the Equal Opportunities Act. But
the Equal Rights Act failed because it ran out of time there was a 7 year time limit and it took 10
years. The amendment process takes place contemporaneously, meaning it is based on issues
happening at the moment. There was also an economic factor which was said to prevent this Act
from passing. Big businesses would have had to pay out more to ensure both male and females
received equal pay. Often these corporate companies would have connections to politicians
themselves, to oppose the Act because the businesses had access to them and pressure groups did
not. The pressure

Difference Between Semiotics, Semiology And Difference
What is Semiotics, Semiology and Difference? In this paper I will define the Semiotics, Semiology
and Difference then I will give the views and beliefs of the three of the masterminds behind these
terms.
Firstly, Semiology and Semiotics are two related disciplines, which study semiotics, the relation of
significance involving signs, object and mind, and classification of signs. Semiotics is a synonym
for Semiology. Semiotics is defined as the study of signs and symbols and their interpretation, while
Semiology is semiotics, the study of signs. According to Swiss Linguist and Semiotician Ferdinand
de Saussure semiotics is the science of signs. Saussure in Course in General Linguistics, said the
roles of signs are part of our social life . For him, sign has two parts, the signifier and the
signified. The signifier is the physical form of the sign. The signified is the concept to which the
signifier refers the meaning or idea it refers to in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For him, Semiotics is a formal doctrine of sign, signs must have a real connection with the thing it
signifies. It is a much boarder clasof Saussure s signifier, as it extends into the physical as well.
According to him, there is a third element that must be present for signification to take happen.
This, additional element is the understanding of the relation between signifier and signified, he
referred to this as the interpretant. The interpretant sheds light on the relationship between signifier
and signified. Pierce admonishes that a sign or signifier must be interpreted in order to exist. The
sign or signifier creates an interpretant and this in turn allows us to access it object or the signified.
In other words, if the sign means something it requires somebody (a mind) signifying and
something (an object) that is

Strong Relationships In Celie By Alice Walker
Zainab Beg
Marchand 8th
25 March 2015
English III Honors
Walker uses characterization and diction to illustrate how strong relationships can help individuals
overcome hardships.
Walker emphasizes the importance of having relationships with significant others through the use of
diction to characterize Nettie. There is so much to tell you that I don t know... but if this do get
through, one thing I want you to know, I love you, and I am not dead. And Olivia is fine and so is
your son (Walker 119). Nettie s love for Celie is unconditional. She reassures Celie of any
misleading thoughts or insecurities she may endure. Throughout Celie s letters, even while Nettie
leaves for thirty years, their relationship is constant and mutual. Regardless ... Show more content

Long as I can spell G O D I got somebody along (Walker 18). As the story begins, Celie feels as if
the only place she can express her true feelings is with God. She purposes that she can trust him
and turn to him when no other person will understand. Similarly to Nettie s doubts of her sister
thinking she s dead, Celie invokes that God is the only reliable source in her life. The letters
begin with Celie addressing herself to God because she s ashamed to tell anyone else (Bloom
54). As time goes on, she becomes less reliant on God, and more independent when it comes to
thoughts and intentions. Well, us talk and talk about God, but I m still adrift. Trying to chase
that old white man out of my head. I been so busy thinking bout him I never truly notice nothing
God make. Not a blade of corn (how it do that?) not the color purple (where it come from?)
(Walker 198). Attempting to escape the image of God as a white male which she cannot relate
to, Celie envisions God as the creator of all beauty. She used to associate God with all the
previous abuses from men, ranting to God about her many struggles with life. She now takes time
to appreciate, rather than denigrate, all of His blessings on earth, and how truly lucky she is after
all. Celie also associates His entity

John Steinbeck s Depiction Of The Tempts Of Jesus In The...
The Bible tells us that Satan is an expert tempter and he tempts us in three areas of our humanity
which are the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life (1Joh 2:16 KJV). We can see
these three things in his attempt to tempt Jesus in the wilderness to sin against God. Jesus had
fasted for forty days without food and was hungry so Satanchallenges Jesusto turn stones into bread,
but Jesus responds to the temptation with Scripture. (Mat 4:3 KJV) And when the tempter came to
him, he said if thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. (Mat 4:4) But
he answered and said, it is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every... Show more

(Mat 4:8) Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the
kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; (Mat 4:9) and saith unto him, All these things will I
give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. (Mat 4:10) Then saith Jesus unto him, get thee
hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Satan adds more pressure in his attempt to convince Jesus to bow down and worship. He makes
Jesus a promise that he would give Him everything for Jesus s allegiance. In the first place, Satan
cannot give what he does not own. He is a liar and the author of deception. Jesus does not fall for
the lies and again resist Satan with the Word of God. (Deu 6:13KJV) Thou shalt fear the LORD
thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
The Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. But God has a Word for us when we are tempted to
sin against Him. In 1 Cor. 10:13 (KJV) it is written, There hath no temptation taken you but such
as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are
able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear

Crooked Nose Research Paper
Crooked Nose
There are two procedures which are usually involved in the correction of a crooked nose. These
procedures include septoplasty, which is performed to improve or alleviate an airway obstruction,
and rhinoplasty, which is done to improve the external appearance of the nose. These two
procedures may be done individually, or together, depending on the needs and desires of the
patient. Then the physician can, if necessary, surgically realign the nasal septum to improve the air
flow, and, if desired by the patient also improve the cosmetic appearance of the nose.
The surgery, which may take anywhere from one to three hours, is usually performed on an
outpatient basis under local or general anesthesia. A small splint will be attached to the outside of
the nose and should be worn for approximately one week. The final appearance of the nose is not
apparent for six to twelve months because normal healing takes place gradually. Generally,
insurance will cover a procedure to improve or alleviate an airway obstruction, but not a procedure
to improve the external appearance of the nose. For a patient who has both septoplasty ... Show

techniques which have been recently developed use tiny endoscopes, to relieve specific blockage
for the nasal passages. The treatment is done as an outpatient and does not require nasal packing.

Reaction Paper About Tattoos In Society
On December 29, 2016, I got my first tattoo. Located on my upper thigh, it was a private
message to myself to keep fighting no matter how hard life is. Just this week, on December 4,
2017, I got a second tattoo. This one, more publicly located on my collar bone, was simply a
cluster of snowflakes. Immediately, I was bombarded with the question, Why snowflakes? I couldn
t give a meaningful answer as I could with my first tattoo, so I would simply reply with, I like snow.
This response was not well received, as people could not understand why I would put something
that permanent on my body just because I like it. Social interactions like these are all too common
for tattooed people, and especially so for women. It is these interactions, and those between family
members, employers, and more, that Beverly Yuen Thompson explores in her book. She first dives
into the history of tattoos, explaining how they came to be and why they are, to this day,
stigmatized. She questions how heavily tattooed women interact with others on a daily basis, be it
strangers, friends, or family. Her main point is that tattoos should not be considered any differently
than any other body modifications, such as plastic surgery, and that the public should learn the
proper etiquette to promote harmony between tattooed persons and non tattooed persons. For her
book, Thompson conducted a study consisting of interviewing several heavily tattooed women. She
defines someone as heavily tattooed when

  • 2. Superman s Real Hero Essay British actor Michael Caine was quoted in the edition of Entertainment Weekly as saying Superman is the way America sees itself, but Batman is the way the world sees America. Although these two characters are classic comic book heroes they have also become the face of America and how it has evolved over the many years. After analyzing the two articles Superman s real identity: America s everyman by Gloria Goodale and Batmans War on Terror by Benjamin Kerstein, Michael Caine is declaring that America s role in the world is subjected to different viewpoints of its people and their values. Superman is not only a classic American superhero but also a representation of the nation itself. His characteristics reflect his identity and shape ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Superman does differ from most people in America as he strays away from involving himself in any politics and focuses on the idea that his values are above mere politicians (Goodale). Although as a young kid, he was just a superthug he grew to be the familiar role model that stands for the nation and not for politics or anything that can divide the people of the United States (Goodale). Even though Superman is just a comic book character to some, he was created in the essence of America and has evolved over the years with the nations gains and losses. Not only does Superman focus on the representation of America but specially the view point of the country and how it sees itself. Because he was created as an outsider he relates to the country in that it is a nation of immigrants and follows the American values of truth, liberty, and justice that are given in the constitution unlike any other country (Goodale). Just like Superman, America has a dual identity. However, Americas dual identity is between its fundamentals of freedom, that it was built on, and its new role as the world s sole superpower (Goodale). America is by far the youngest country and has moved its way to the top very quickly which has made a huge impact on the society that lives in it. Americans tend to see themselves with this confidence that resembles the success of the country and embodies a patriotic respect for their nation. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Six Principal Of Persuasion The Six Principals of Persuasion Reciprocity is humans need to reciprocate a good or bad deed that has been done to them. In the context of persuasion it is the persuader offering something, such as a good or service, to the person being persuaded, so they feel the need to take the persuaders point of view Scarcity is explaining that something isn t readily available or is disappearing fast. For example a salesman can use scarcity to persuade someone to buy a product that is going out of stock. Authority is using the statements of someone or an institution that holds a position of authority to support your statements. The World Heath Organization states that the definition of health is: The state of physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Did the persuader write down their argument on an online blog where they can be rebutted from anyone that reads the article or did they approach you in segregated location? The more publicly or permanently accessible the persuasion is then the more it appeals to the Commitment and Consistency. Consensus is if other people share the same views as the person persuading. If it s a view that many people hold, it carries more weight. This is because people speculate examples like, if all these people think that this brand is the best TV, then it must be pretty good. Liking is how similar the person persuading us, is to us. An example is if I had 4 children, and the person selling me a washing machine also had four children, his persuasion for me to purchase the washing machine would be a lot more effective because he was similar to me, and I would see him as being able to empathize with my ... • 9. Decline of Blanche DuBois in Tennessee Williams A... The Unnecessary Decline of Blanche DuBois in A Streetcar Named Desire Upon reviewing the drama, A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams, it would appear that the character of Blanche DuBois is worthy of closer inspection. With her previous occupation as a teacher of American literature and her former social status being that of a well bred woman of the very traditional Old South, Blanche could be any human being transferring from one culture to another with customs far different from the ones being left behind. Even today it could happen that someone is suddenly confronted with a totally new and different value system with which he must learn to cope in order to be accepted into his new environment. That is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Blanche depends on manner, on affected little girl innocence, to sustain her (Hirsch 33). That is quite evident at the very beginning of the play when she seems to be disgusted by the way her sister lives with her husband. However, Blanche s evasive explanation of her early arrival, before the end of the spring term at the school in Laurel, is a clear indication that something went wrong with Blanche. In her first meeting with Stanley it becomes quite clear that Stanley and Blanche are antagonist and protagonist. Twice in scene 1, a cat screeches near the window, startling Blanche and now summoning up a cat and mouse image for the relationship between Stanley and Blanche (Londre 47). In the second scene, the audience witnesses Blanche s obsessive bathing, just to quiet my nerves (Williams 39) as she told her sister Stella, but it is a nominal gesture of guilt and wished for redemption (Bloom 16). In a single moment of deviation from her mood of gaiety in this scene, Blanche withholds a faded, ribbon tied sheaf of love letters: Poems a dead boy wrote. I hurt him that way you would like to hurt me ... (Williams 41). That shows her feeling of guilt about the death of her husband. In the same scene Stanley reveals to Blanche that he is going to check her papers from Belle Reve, inheritance having taken on added importance as Stella has taken on added girth with her pregnancy. At that news, Blanche rushes to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Michael Heim s Virtual Reality Michael Heim describes virtual reality as an event or entity that is real in effect but not in fact . He states, There is a sense in which any simulation makes something real that in fact is not . In his essay, The Essence of VR, Heim goes on to define this term by examining the seven divergent concepts currently guiding VR research , which is stimulation, interaction, artificiality, immersion, telepresence, full body immersion, and network communications (1993:109 114). Heim notes that certain analysts attempt to dodge the term virtual reality since it appears to make great cases for it. At MIT and NASA, they incline toward virtual situations, and a few colleges would rather there be virtual planets. As a thinker, Heim is not reluctant to make extraordinary and respectable cases for virtual reality, which he recommends may reasonably be viewed as the Holy Grail of machine exploration: Perhaps the substance of VR in the long run lies not in engineering yet in craftsmanship, maybe specialty of the most noteworthy request. Viguerie, along with hundreds of Louisiana soldiers, including William A. Bisland of Terrebonne, surrendered on May 26, 1865 in New Orleans. Viguerie was paroled to New Iberia, Louisiana on June 6, 1865. He was released shortly after. Louisiana was the only region deep within the Confederacy where Union authorities implemented experimental Reconstruction policies during the Civil War. Louisiana responded to President Abraham Lincoln s plan to readmit southern states into the Union by selecting delegates to write a new constitution. The Constitution of 1864 abolished slavery and disposed of Louisiana s old order of rule by planters and merchants, although it did not give African Americans voting power. It was the first state charter to incorporate Lincoln s conciliatory approach and was the leading test case for postwar policy. Lincoln s Emancipation Proclamationof 1863 did not apply to Union held territory. Thus, slavery continued in the thirteen Louisiana parishes under Union control. After much debate, delegates to the constitutional convention agreed to abolish slavery without compensation for masters but not to give the vote to black men. The new constitution, however, authorized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Essay on Casualties of World War I The First World War witnessed an appalling number of casualties. Due partly to this fact, some historians, developed the perception that commanders on both sides dependence on only one disastrous approach to breaking the stalemate. These historians attributed the loss of life to the reliance on soldiers charging across no man s land only to be mowed down by enemy machineguns. The accuracy of this, however, is fallacious since a variety of tactics existed on both sides. The main reason for battlefield success and eventual victory came from the transformation of battlefield tactics; nevertheless, moral played a major role by greatly affecting the development of new tactics and the final outcome of the war. The French Command, also, decided that the prudent decision to stop impending mutinies would be the ending of on any new large scale offensive (Smith 195). With the comprehension that moral could collapse further the Allies turned to a handful of new tactics to minimize the number of deaths that occurred. Education Is An Important Aspect Of Teaching And Teaching Critically evaluate the extent that performativity in education has on developing creativity in learning and teaching and assess the impact that this has on individuals Introduction As a concept towards education, performativity is one that seems to strongly divide opinion. There are many scholars who argue that an increasing emphasis on performativity within education has a detrimental effect on the levels of creativity that students and teachers can demonstrate, and in turn negatively effects the results of the educational process. On the other hand there are those that believe that performative analysis within education plays an important role in highlighting areas of success, and areas that require improvement. Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education) agree that creativity is an important aspect of teaching and learning, however they also believe that a disciplined structure is important to allow this creativity to be successful: Occasionally, teachers fail to grasp that creative learning was not simply a question of allowing pupils to follow their interests; careful planning was needed for enquiry, debate, speculation, experimentation, review and presentation to be productive. (Ofsted, 2010) Fostering creativity in education is intended to address many concerns. As Parkhurst summarises, this includes dealing with ambiguous problems, coping with the fast changing world and facing an uncertain future (Parkhurst, 1999). In his adulthood, he was known all over the world as the best explorer and navigator. He had numerous discoveries in his lifetime and was fancied by many rulers who sought what he sought. However, he had very high demands on what he would receive if sponsored, so many foreign rulers rejected him and his demands. He was a Catholic and this stood out to Queen Isabella because she wanted to spread Catholicism to non believers. This gave Columbus a better standing with the queen. In Spain, a new federal power was beginning to drive the Moors out of the Iberian Peninsula and this would increase the availability of resources to the monarchs on this land. This involved the king and it pushed him towards sponsoring Columbus because he was so familiar with the land. They soon agreed with all of Columbus claims and sponsored his voyage in search of a water route from Europeto the East Indies. Columbus was foreign to the country of Spain, so this leaves people to wonder why would Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand sponsor a foreign explorer for such an important voyage? Since Columbus was not from Spain he was considered a foreign explorer. A monarchfrom another country would only want a foreign explorer if they had expertise in their field of voyaging. The explorers would most likely be chosen if they shared common interests with the monarch, because they would help benefit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. The Awakening By William Shakespeare Intro: Throughout the Awakening, Edna is able to find some liberation in each of the various places she inhabits, yet it is immediately countered by misery and unfulfillment. This holds true even until the end of the novel when the reader is left with the question of whether Edna has truly found a setting in which she can finally feel whole and be her true self. Grand Isle: The novel begins with Edna, her husband Leonce, and her two children vacationing in the island of Grand Isle for the summer. When Edna is in Grand Isle her life still consists of her husband who suffocates her identity as an individual the same way the water traps the land of Grand Isle. There is no easy escape from it, because it would have been easier to simply carry on than to go against the time period. Therefore, the vacation also represents her easier life, though it may feel unfulfilled; she is able to find some temporary liberation from the house in New Orleans. Edna must discover the island within herself. In the beginning of the novel Edna s character is introduced into the novel, she is titled as the wife of Leonce, yet the rest of the characters are mentioned simply by name and possibly followed by a physical description, with no explanation of their relevance or relationship to the situation. This is done to illustrate the idea that Edna, at this point in time, is not an individual. Her role in society and her community is defined by her bounding ties to her marriage and the ... The, The American Academy Of Environmental Medicines Essay Breck Erickson Based on animal research with GM (genetically modified) foods, the American Academy of Environmental Medicines (AAEM), an international organization of physicians, says that there are serious health risks associated with eating GM foods. for these reasons we should not allow farmers to use GM products (2011, Smith). Based on many studies there are very many reasons to ban GMOs (Genetically Mortified Organisms). Although there are a few positive effects to GMOs like not having to spray the fields with different herbicides and pesticides, there are also many unfavorable reasons to use and ban GMOs. These include slight differences in yields, the inability to track GMOs in sugars, and the negative health effects. On reason to ban the use of GMOs is because they don t make much of a difference in yields of the crops that are being grown. According to Melissa Diane Smith (2011) an expert in nutrition and known for her work in the Better Nutrition magazine Despite 20 years of research and 13 years of commercialization, genetic engineering has failed to significantly increase the U.S. crop yields, according to a 2009 Union of Centered Scientists report. Unfortunately, ever since the conflict began, little to no progress has been made in solving the Israeli Palestinian conflict. There is a tremendous amount of history encompassing the dispute because it changes dramatically depending on which side is describing their point of view and when they believe the conflict started. The United States, Great Britain, the United Nations, and many other countries have attempted to mediate both parties in order to work towards a solution; however, all of their efforts have been unsuccessful because the Israeli Palestinian conflict is the direct result of Great Britain s lack of ability to maintain consistent foreign policy in Israel, Palestine, and Egypt. The fundamental issue in the Israeli Palestinian conflict remains who has rights to the land which encompasses Israel, the Gaza Strip, and the West Bank. Jewish claims to the land are based on the biblical promise to Abraham and his descendants, on the fact that Palestine was the historical site of the Jewish kingdom of Israel and on Jews need for a haven from European anti Semitism. • 24. The Dynamic Gastric Model ( Dgm ) The dynamic gastric model (DGM) was invented and designed by Dr. Martin Wickham and Dr. Richard Faulks from the United Kingdom. Even though the model is only half the size of the human digestive system, it can be used to investigate the effects of diet, drugs, alcohol and other factors on digestion. The figure is made of plastic and metal and is composed in two parts. The upper section is a funnel and a cylinder shaped container where food, enzyme, and gastric acidare mixed. After the hydration reaction, the mixture is transported down a metal tube to get crushed and is later stored in a transparent container to test the level of fat, protein or bacteria. Based on the various functions of the model, technology replaces human body and is ethically friendlier. Hence DGM well illustrates the digestive system, which brings a great contribution to development in science. The major limitation that differs dynamic gastric model from real organism is the inability to process active transportation. Without transport channel, molecules could not flow against the gradient. Consequently, the model fails to mimic the property of parietal cells, which the hydrochloric acid is secreted by active transport into the stomach of hydrogen ion against a concentration gradient of about 1 million to 1. Unfortunately, there are quite a few obstacles that challenge indigenous people learning their native language. The loss of a language distances groups farther from their native roots, which is exactly opposite of the efforts being made in Canada. Learning and practicing an indigenous languagefulfills one s role as an engaged citizen and allows for engagement within a culture. Problems that arise consist of not being completely engaged in the native language, deciphering between dialects, and funding issues. The loss of indigenous languages in Canada is a contemporary issue of great concern because many indigenous and nonindigenous people realize the extent of culture loss once a language has dissipated. I Go Back To May 1937 Summary It s clear to whoever is reading, I Go Back to May 1937, written by Sharon Olds, that the author of the piece mustn t have had the easiest early life, and upon further investigation those assumptions are proven. After years of denial, Olds began starting to admit that her pieces were reflections of her own feelings and experiences as she got older. The fact that her poems are based on personal events make them even darker and harder to read. Olds grew up in an extremely conservative household run by her alcoholic father. Singularly those two things are what nightmares are made out of, but put together it seems more like Hell. Which, considering how religious the leaders of the household were, is rather symbolic. • 36. Analysis Of The Article Your Mother Is Your Bones ... Critical Responses to the Novel Orville Schell wrote the article Your Mother is in Your Bones about The Joy Luck Club. Schell starts out by giving some historical background information on China, about those emigrating in order to escape Communism and how Asian immigrants didn t fit in America as easily as Europeans did. He also talks about Chinatowns and other struggles immigrants faced. He talks about the strange phenomena where Chinese Americans were bound to China by heritage, but they had never even been there. He then summarizes the events of the novel, focusing on June and her dynamic with her motherand the rest of the Joy Luck Club. He talks about the stories told by each of the mothers, describing them as surreal and magical. He says that the formatting of the novel using all the different stories places the reader into the shoes of a Chinese immigrant trying to navigate their way to becoming more Americanized. He says that the novel could ve been written in a patronizing way or could ve been clichГ©, but because of Amy Tan s skills it was written beautifully (Schell). In John Mullan s article John Mullan on The Joy Luck Club , Mullan starts by discussing the similarities between the game mah jong and the structure of the novel. He talks about the divisions of four, the four players, and he talks about which characters narrated which sections. He talks more about the narrators, mentioning that June is kind of the bridge between these two generations. He says ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lysander indefinitely relates to the theme of loves difficulty and the nature of romantic love. Although besides the themes of the play being important to understanding Lysander s character, the way he is portrayed, via. Movie and play matter just as much. Shakespeare has a specific intention for the portrayal of Lysander s character; there are two movie versions of this play that both have their own portrayal of Lysander. The question that arises from these two different portrayals of Lysander s character is; how do they relate to Shakespeare s idea of how Lysander should be portrayed in the play? Is he portrayed correctly? Is the portrayal effective? The dominant theme in a Midsummers Nights Dream is love, the nature of romantic love and loves difficulty. This is a subject that Shakespeare is known for. He returns constantly to this theme in all of his comedies. Shakespeare explores how people tend to fall in love with those who appear beautiful to them. A Brief Note On The Area Of Engine Position Management 1.1.Objective and Goal of the Project The project is done in the area of engine position management which is used in gasoline 4 stroke engines. During the development of device drivers for the engine, it is very important to test each and every feature of the device driver. Before going to the vehicle testing or software integration, the device driver software has to be tested completely. For this purpose, mini test benches can be used. This test setup should provide the necessary input signals to the driver software which is to be tested. The main input signals needed for the testing includes crank sensor and cam sensor signals. These signals help us to determine the crank and cam wheel positions and also calculate the engine speed at which the engine is running at that particular time. The existing mini test bench allows the engine speed information to be changed manually. The actual engine speed dynamics in the real engine/vehicle cannot be simulated. They are not capable of changing the engine speed in a specific pattern driven over time. They are not cost effective. The objective of this project comes from disadvantages of the existing test equipments. The main aim is to create a mini test bench setup to generate Cam and Crank Signals. The Setup should be able to allow testing of device driver software without the need of Vehicle. It should allow engine speed to change manually. The setup should allow the engine speed variation in a pre defined pattern without the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Explain the factors which make it difficult to amend the US Constitution (15 marks) To amend the US Constitution, a bill has to go through a two stage process: proposal and ratification. The proposal stage has to have two thirds majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Every successful amendment has started this way and even the failed ones. A proposal can also be made by a Constitutional convention, which is a one off body which is put together for a specific purpose, and this is called by Congress on petition by two thirds of the states. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, there are implications for ratification. Thirty eight states are needed for ratification. The problem with this is that there are huge variations in political culture of states the South is known to be Conservative, North East or West Coast is known to be liberal/Cosmopolitan, North is known to be urban and industrial and the Midwest is known to be rural and agricultural. Therefore, with the differences in political culture, there are demands for a nationwide consensus which can prove difficult. An example of this was the Equal Rights Act which failed to pass the ratification stage as it was 3 states shy of the 38 needed to pass the ratification stage. It was argued that there was already the 14th Amendment which states the Equal Opportunities Act. But the Equal Rights Act failed because it ran out of time there was a 7 year time limit and it took 10 years. The amendment process takes place contemporaneously, meaning it is based on issues happening at the moment. There was also an economic factor which was said to prevent this Act from passing. Big businesses would have had to pay out more to ensure both male and females received equal pay. Often these corporate companies would have connections to politicians themselves, to oppose the Act because the businesses had access to them and pressure groups did not. The pressure ... In this paper I will define the Semiotics, Semiology and Difference then I will give the views and beliefs of the three of the masterminds behind these terms. In 1 Cor. 10:13 (KJV) it is written, There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear ... • 55. Crooked Nose Research Paper Crooked Nose There are two procedures which are usually involved in the correction of a crooked nose. These procedures include septoplasty, which is performed to improve or alleviate an airway obstruction, and rhinoplasty, which is done to improve the external appearance of the nose. These two procedures may be done individually, or together, depending on the needs and desires of the patient. Then the physician can, if necessary, surgically realign the nasal septum to improve the air flow, and, if desired by the patient also improve the cosmetic appearance of the nose. The surgery, which may take anywhere from one to three hours, is usually performed on an outpatient basis under local or general anesthesia. Just this week, on December 4, 2017, I got a second tattoo. This one, more publicly located on my collar bone, was simply a cluster of snowflakes. Immediately, I was bombarded with the question, Why snowflakes? I couldn t give a meaningful answer as I could with my first tattoo, so I would simply reply with, I like snow. This response was not well received, as people could not understand why I would put something that permanent on my body just because I like it. Social interactions like these are all too common for tattooed people, and especially so for women. It is these interactions, and those between family members, employers, and more, that Beverly Yuen Thompson explores in her book. She first dives into the history of tattoos, explaining how they came to be and why they are, to this day, stigmatized. She questions how heavily tattooed women interact with others on a daily basis, be it strangers, friends, or family. Her main point is that tattoos should not be considered any differently than any other body modifications, such as plastic surgery, and that the public should learn the proper etiquette to promote harmony between tattooed persons and non tattooed persons. For her book, Thompson conducted a study consisting of interviewing several heavily tattooed women. She defines someone as heavily tattooed when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
