Argumentative Essay On Law School
What do lawyers learn in law school? They learn to win... what they ve got to start thinking is
how do they solve problems. Benjamin Carson Law school can be a painfully long process. For
some, it s worth it. For others, the painfully long process can be stressful and mentally challenging.
Although the path to becoming a lawyer is very demanding, a person can reduce the stress by
studying the positive, negative, and mentally challenging aspects that he or she may face. Some
may worry about the affects of law school, but they need to remember there are a lot of positives
in it. First of all, it all depends on the type of person you are in law school to see if your mental
health will be affected. The Wellness Committee at Indiana Law School is a safe haven for
students suffering from depression, anxiety, extreme stress, or any other types of mental health
issues. So, considering that some law schools have clinics and doctors to help the mentally sick,
people can also seek advice or help off site, or off campus. For instance, the JLAP (Judges and
Lawyers Assistance Program) is not on a specific campus but it is a place where you can seek
assistance. The program will keep all of their patient s problems and concerns confidential so they
need no stress about their peers knowing. (Covington)
Just because you have heard about the struggles of some people who have had a mental illness
from their college era doesn t mean that you will too. For example, individuals that choose

La Alhambra is located on a hill in the south of Spain, in Granada, which takes part of the
AndalucГa Community. It is a city inside the city of Granada, where you can find palaces, gardens
and fortresses. In the past there where living the Nazari kingdom.
La Alhambra is surrounded at the north by the valley Darro, at the south by al Sabika and on its

We can divide them into three principal places: El Mexur , Palacio de Comares , el Palacio de los
Leones and we can also include a place built by the Christians later on. It is the main attraction of
La Alhambra, consequently it is always full of people.
El Mexuar
It is one of the oldest places from La Alhambra , therefor is very difficult to know the exact date
when it was built, as it suffered numerous destructions. Also, it is one of the places which was more
times destructed and rebuilt by the Christians.
It was the place where political events and where celebrated and sometimes it was used as
audience room. It also had a room at the top of the place where the king was listening without
being seen. It is very curious that this place did not have windows, it was only open at the top of
the roof. It is situated in a way that in the past the Arabic people could pray. During the Christian
time it was used as a chapel. Its appearance is from the reconstructions between the 16th century
and 20th century. The columns stand out from the Nazari architecture and also stands out the tile

New York Islanders Research Paper
1993...That was the last time the New York Islanders held a 3 2 game series lead in a round of
the NHL playoffs (Washington). After winning a game five for the first time in eleven previous
tries last night in Sunrise, outlasting the Florida Panthers 2 1 in double overtime, this rag tag
bunch of scrappers look to write their own history in Brooklyn after winning the second longest
overtime game in Islanders history. The Islanders, per chief statistician Eric Hornick, have hosted
a game six at home with the chance to clinch a series six times in their illustrious past. They have
won all six. Now, if you are truly the superstitious type, you would be alarmed at all the sixes

Save for a brief glimpse, the Islanders youngster has been a shell of himself during his second
pro season. Already sent to Bridgeport after a couple of discussions during training camp, he has
not responded to being called out by Capuano a couple of weeks prior to the end of the regular
season. Continuing on that, neither has Josh Bailey, who looks tentative and lacking any
confidence at all. He seems to be skating in mud, is not executing in any zone and is having a
dastardly time just clearing the puck. He could be next in line to receive the press box pass, you
would think as early as game six. Nikolay Kulemin got the message, even though he was spared
the public wrath. He was much more active last night and dogged on the forecheck. Marek
Zidlicky (23:45) and Steve Bernier (20:21 plus 9 hits) were also both very effective making their
series debuts. With a combined 115 games of playoff experience between them, both should remain
in the lineup as Jack Capuano continued to push mostly all the right buttons in this series. Hornick

Great Halifax Explosion Case Study
On December 6 1917, hundreds were left dead in Halifax, Nova Scotia due to a human error
quick to be immortalized. CBC news says the Imo, a Belgian relief vessel that left the Halifax
Harbor behind schedule on the morning of December 6. Another vessel the Mont Blank, a cargo
ship leaded with explosive materials, was entering. The Captain of the Imo disregarded the laws
of the sea, going over the speed limit for the narrows of the harbor and traversing it from the
wrong direction. Both the Imo and Mont Blank moved toward each other, each unwilling to change
course. The ships made evasive maneuvers at the same time, causing the vessels to scrape against
each other; the sparks from the collision set aflame the explosive materials aboard the Mont... Show

The very existence of disaster photography proves this. Voyeur as defined by the Oxford
Dictionary is a person who enjoys seeing the pain or distress of others. Why would humans
continuously photograph others suffering if they did not gain some pleasure from it?
Photographers might say that the motives of disaster photography are to document and expose
horrors around the world. The intention of the photographer about how the photo should be
received and how it is actually received can be quite different. An example of how humanity s
voyeuristic tendencies effects how viewers react to a photo is given by Susan Sontag in her
book Regarding the Pain of Others. When photographs of suffering are staged, people are
surprised to learn they were staged, and always disappointed instead of celebrating the fact that the
suffering was not real (55). This disappointment is felt because of the need to observe genuine
suffering. The photos of the Halifax disaster used to make postcards are real and it is because of
humanity s voyeuristic tendencies that there is a market for these snapshots of

Bilbo Themes
J.R.R. Tolkien s The Hobbit has often been regarded as one of the greatest fantasy stories. A
majority of the appeal of The Hobbit lies in the fact that it is, at its very core, a story about the
journey of a seemingly ordinary hero. The story may appeal to children because even on a
surface level, it is a story about the fantastical adventures once can have if they leave the comfort
of their home. However, it is also a journey from past to present; it shows how the richness of the
tradition of the past has a lot to teach us, and it tells us to live in the present with both the lessons
of the past enriching our experience, but also to consider what the future can hold for us. However,
the most essential journey in The Hobbitis the journey... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

wondered whether he ought not, now he had a magic ring, to go back into the horrible, horrible
tunnels and look for his friends (85). Even though Bilbo has gained control of one of the most
powerful magic objects in the story, he still feels a sense of duty towards the dwarves, one that
goes beyond the contract he signed to help them on their question. In contrast, Thorin is highly
unable to look beyond the contract, as he feels betrayed when Bilbo takes the Arkenstone and
gives it to the elves and men to make peace (252). The dwarves have sense of loyalty and
community towards each other, but that does not extend to Bilbo, as he gives away what Thorin
most wants and therefore, betrays him by breaching their contract. While Bilbo grows to value the
dwarves friendship, the dwarves are narrow minded because they only see Bilbo as a means to an
end and call him a thief and burglar when he betrays

Emily Bernard Letter To My Son Summary
The author, Emily Bernard, is a professor of English and Critical Race and Ethnic Studies at the
University of Vermont. She has experience teaching several courses related to African American
Literature and Race and Ethnicity. The author was motivated to reflect on this topic in response
to The Atlantic article Letter to My Son , written by Ta Nehisi Coates. However, instead of
addressing the fear and danger behind raising African American sons, she instead voices out her
worries of raising African American daughters and her disbelief over the fact that her daughters
can feel protected or safe simply because of their difference in gender. Her ultimate goal in
writing this piece is to inform the audience of the rage and worries she has over raising her
daughters in this society, and that maintaining hope is what allows her to provide [her] children
safety without suffocation. Given that this article was published in July of 2015 and the topic she
is addressing is still extremely relevant to our world today, this conversation is of immediate
political importance as the author is crying out to the world about the relentlessness of Black
American Motherhood and how fearful... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the end, she is indicating her devotion to keeping hope as it is what allows her to release her
daughters into the world without unleashing her inner rage to the world over the daily trauma

realm of ideas, as she is using Coates article as a foundation for her to publicize the fears of Black
American mothers that have been swept under the rug for so long. This is why she ultimately
attempts to culminate her emotions and inner feelings into a piece of writing for readers around the
world to gain a better sense of understanding

VAP is a growing problem in health care facilities which increases the cost of patient care and
increases patient care time, hospital length of stay, and patient morbidity. Ventilator associated
pneumonia increases healthcare costs by more than $40,000 per hospitalized patient (Lisboa,
Kollef, Rello, 2008). Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services plan to stop paying hospitals
for necessary care caused by preventable complications including nosocomial infections resulting
in unintended fiscal circumstances (Lisboa et al.). 2 The Centers for Disease Control (CDC)
established recommended guidelines to decrease the risk of VAP. It is these best practice
interventions that nurses should follow when caring for mechanically ventilated patients. The 2003
CDC guidelines reported that 63% of admitted patients in the ICU have oral colonization
associated with a pathogen resulting from VAP (Cason, Tyner, Saunders, Broome, 2007). The
CDC provided a set of seven guidelines to reduce risks related to hand washing, wearing gloves,
suctioning, elevated head of bed (HOB), education, oral hygiene program, and use of antiseptic
rinse. Studies suggested that best practices for reducing VAP were not consistently implemented.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and gram positive
Staphylococcus aureus were the two most common bacteria linked to VAP (Babcock et al., 2004).

Similarities And Differences Between Softball And Baseball
Strike! Safe! Foul Ball! You re out! These are just a few of the terms one would hear while
attending a ball game. Add a hot dog and peanuts and you are now a fan of a time honored
tradition by many Americans. A tradition that many fans look forward to watching in hopes that
the players will hit one over the fence while they are in attendance. Many people enjoy playing the
game more so than they do watching it. However, the game is not always the same for the players.
Some players call themselves softball players while others consider themselves baseballplayers. Is
there a difference?
Both sports are very similar as they both require four bases, the shape of a diamond, a glove, a bat,
a ball, innings, three outs, and nine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Baseball bats have a maximum length of 42 inches, but lengths over 34 inches is not a common
practice (Stamp, 2013). The difference between the weight and the length of a bat is referred to as
the drop. If a bat s weight is 24 ounces and its length is 34 inches, the bat would have a 10 drop or
be referred to as a drop 10 ( The Differences Between Baseball Softball, n.d.). For high school
baseball and up, the bats maximum drop is usually 3 , while softball maximum drop is 12 ounces
and may not be greater than a 8 drop difference ( The Differences Between Baseball Softball, n.d.).
The shape of a baseball bat compared to a softball bat is also very different. The softball bat, also
called a bottle bat because of its slender shape, has a maximum diameter of 2 Вј inches while
baseball bats have a maximum diameter requirement of 2 Вѕ inches ( The Differences Between
Baseball Softball , n.d.). Softball bats tend to be made of composite materials or various metal, in
addition to metals and composite materials, some baseball bats are made of wood.
From the first pitch at a baseball or softball game, it is immediately recognized that the pitching
styles are very different between the two sports. A pitcher in softball throws the ball underhand
while a pitcher in baseball throws the ball overhand (Mann, 2011). Both are pitched from a mound

Ventilate Oral Rinse
Ventilator associated (VAP) is the number one cause of health care associated infection in the
intensive care unit. (ICU). It is a major cause of mortality in patients and increase in healthcare
cost. Risk of VAP is increased in hospitalized patients in ICU unit on a mechanical ventilator. The
risk may be due to inability of caring out good and adequate infection control measures to prevent
the spread of disease. A reduction of VAP incidence in ICU setting could be accomplished by
implementing Chlorhexidine gluconate oral rinse for decontamination.

Same sex marriage is marriage between two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance,
Emperor Nero is reported to have engaged in a marriage ceremony with one of his male slaves.
Emperor Elagabalus married a Carian slave named Hierocles.
It should be noted, however, that conubium existed only between a civis Romanus and a civis
Romana (that is, between a male Roman citizen and a female Roman citizen), so that a so called
marriage between two Roman males (or with a slave) would have no legal standing in Roman law
(apart, presumably, from the arbitrary will of the emperor in the two aforementioned cases).
Furthermore, matrimonium is an institution involving a mother, mater.
The idea implicit in the word is that a man takes a woman in marriage, in matrimonium ducere, so
that he may have children by her. Still, the lack of legal validity notwithstanding, there is a
consensus among modern historians that same sex relationships existed in ancient Rome, but the
exact frequency and nature of same sex unions during that period is obscure.
In 342 AD Christian emperors Constantius II and Constans issued a law in the Theodosian Code
(C. Th. 9.7.3) prohibiting same sex marriage in Rome and ordering execution for those so married.
The first documented same sex marriage was between the two men Pedro DГaz and MuГ±o

Intelligence And Failure Of The Operation Market Garden
Operation Market Garden The purpose of this paper is to argue that Allied commanders failed to
utilize credible intelligence information prior to Operation Market Garden. Additionally, if the
commanders of the operation appropriately used the intelligence at hand, Operation Market
Garden would have been a success instead of failure. This paper examines how the Allied
commanders failed to properly take into consideration credible signals intelligence, human
intelligence, and imagery intelligence. If the Allied commanders would have not discredited
multiple discipline intelligence reports, Operation Market Garden would have been able to
capture all of the key objectives of the mission. The success of Operation Market Garden would
have forced Germany to surrender as much as six months earlier, saving countless lives.

The Advantages And Benefits Of Open And Distance Learning
Open and Distance Learning (ODL) refers to the supplying of flexible educational opportunities in
terms of access and multiple modes of knowledge collection (Malaysian Qualifying Agency 2008).
Flexible means the availability of choices for education anywhere, anytime and anyhow.
Access means opportunity made available to all, freeing them from constraints of time and place.
Multiple modes mean the use of various delivery systems and learning resources.
According to the Commonwealth of Learning (2000), some of the more commonly used terms
related to ODL are the following: correspondence education, home study, independent study,

The increasing number of open universities being established across the world clearly shows this
trend. To add to that, more and more traditional universities are transforming from single mode to

According to researcher Bayoli (2013) in today s learning society; student support in institutions of
higher learning is an important issue. The recent global growth and popularity of open and distance

those students who wish to have a working life while furthering their education

It is not reasonable to assume a culturewill remain static, but when the traditions, language, and
lifestyle of thousands of peoples are eradicated within a 500 year time span, that is no longer
evolution, but intentional extinction. Some cultures managed to stay somewhat intact, but they are
under a new threat to assimilate to the homogeneity of language, culture, and technology brought on
by globalization or face extinction. Some peoples are doing what they can to fight the annihilation
of their unique identity. One such culture is that of the Mi kmaq of eastern Canada.

Tomi Lahren Speech
TV host Tomi Lahren is not a nice or intelligent woman. I would like to state that before you read
this article that attempting to understanding and deciphering her uncivilized speech is going to
cause you to expend unnecessary brainpower. Once again Lahren is being seen all over social
media after a vicious attack on BeyoncГ© s super bowl performance. Tomi Lahren stupidly
believes that it was BeyoncГ© paying tribute to the Black Panthers. Apparently this halftime
performance was to push the message of Black Lives MATTER MORE . The #BLM movement
has always been and still is that Black Lives Matter . Not more, not less, just matter. The protests,
marches, events, have never once been orchestrated to declare that this ethnic group are any more
valuable then any other group, but more so that they are as valuable as others and are equal. Tomi
Lahren continues to make aggressive accusations that make me wonder what decade she thinks she

Although there may be mixed opinions about what exactly is political correctness , after
watching her final thoughts on Jesse Williams s speech, I can clearly see which side she favors.
What does it even mean for her to say that everyone has equal rights? What reason does she have
to say that white people fought in the Civil War to free enslaved people? Is she saying that white
people went through just as much horror so that we are equal? The reason so many white
people were fighting in the Civil War to fight for the freedom of those in slavery is because the
black people were unable to fight because they were enslaved! Clearly, America would not be
what it is today without the benefits that were reaped from slavery, but saying that it wasn t all that
bad because after so many years people saw that working innocent citizens against there will was
probably inhumane is a stupid

Action Research Is Way Of Learning Things With Different...
Action Research is way of learning things with different types of means. Some learn new things
by doing it (O Brian, 1998). It could be through collaborative inquiry, participatory research,
action learning or through contextual action (O Brian, 2001). Basically, Action Research involves
group of people working towards the same goals. For example, the company X created a group of
5 people to figure out the problem the company is facing such as to figure out ways that caused
poor performance. In this case, they should identify what the major problem is, take steps to gather
data and information, analyze them and work together to come with the best solution. Once they
come up with the plan, they use that to see if their efforts are good enough to solve the issues. In
this case, managementdecides whether it s successful or not. If they are unsatisfied, they can ask
the group to try again (O Brian, 2001). In Action research, the researcher and the client work
together in order to meet or achieve the targeted goals (Padak, 2015). There are different stages
associated with this research such as identifying questions what are the major issues that need
immediate care, collecting data and information from various sources so that one can understand
what the real problem is. The real problem can only be found if you do immense research, analyze
all the data and information and share the results with others in the research team (Padak, 2015).

Family The Taino Indians had sturdy familial ties and related families lived together. They lived
in very organized kingdoms and small villages, their order was decided by the chiefs. The Taino
s appearance was bronze colored, average height, dark, flowing coarse hair, and dark and
slightly oblique dark eyes. The men were typically naked or sported a breech cloth called nagua.
Single women walked around naked, while married women wore an apron made of cotton or
palm fibers to cover their genitalia. The length of the apron determined their rank size. The
Taino culture was a polygamous one. The male cacique as the leader was permitted to have
more wives than the other men in the villages. A woman whom was married to a cacique was
considered a great honor. Church Among the Taino community, there was a hierarchy of creators.
The Yocahu was the highest creator. Jurakan was constantly angry and governed the power of
the hurricane. Other Gods were the Zemi and Maboya. The Zemis was a God of both sexes and it
was characterized by images of human and animal figures. The Taino s thought that by being in the
good graces of their zemis, they were sheltered from disease, hurricanes, or war disasters. As an
offering, they would prepared cassava bread. The Maboyas were nocturnal Gods that ruined crops
and were feared among the Tainos. Thus, they offered detailed contributions to satisfy him. Polity

To build an understanding of how communities of practice create organizational value, we suggest
thinking of a community as an engine for the development of social capital. We argue that the social
capital resident in communities of practice leads to behavioral changes, which in turn positively
influence business performance. We identify four specific performance outcomes associated with
the communities of practice we studied and link these outcomes to the basic dimensions of social
capital. These dimensions include connections among practitioners who may or may not be co
located; relationships that build a sense of trust and mutual obligation, and a common language and
context that can be shared by community members. Our conclusions are based on a study of seven
organizations where communities of practice are acknowledged to be creating value.

Concert Review
I attended this concert at CU Denver s King Center, Concert Hall. Although the architectural design
and surrounding did not attest to much artistic creativity, the actual concert was better than my
expectations. I did have lower expectations because it was presented by students instead of
professional musicians or dancers as in my last concert review. The ensemble, a collaborative
outcome from MSU Denver and other dance/cultural musicgroups from denver, was actually a mix
of African and Indian/East Asian music and dance. The two teams alternated between each other
giving the audience a great deal of contrast of movement and sound. My favorite were the second
and fifth performances, African and Indian respectively.

story is meant to encourage people to face their fears and fight for what they want. I liked how they
used the same movements when they were describing the story before starting their performance
which they later used during the dance. For example, one of the dancers showed the same throwing
movement which she later used in the performance. The dance was accompanied by an Indian
chant like song over the speakers. It had the same simplistic nature as the African music discussed
above which I again noticed that it put the focus on the dancers. They music and movement was
much slower and calmer than the Africans, which makes sense when seen in light of the Eastern

A Pair Of Silk Stockings, A Shameful Affair, And The Story...
What is social expectation and how does it affects one s life? In the short stories A Pair of Silk
Stockings , A Shameful Affair , and The Story of Hour by Kate Chopin from the novel The
Awakening and Selected Stories of Kate Chopin, they uncover the expected roles and
responsibilities of women in the early 1900s. Through imagery and diction, Chopin reveals that
people tend to fall into others expectations upon their marriage and even before it, which leads to
lose their personal freedom and gain desires in conflict with social expectations.
First, numerous people especially women in the early 1900s fall into others expectations upon and
before their marriage. In A Pair of Silk Stockings and A Shameful Affair , two of their main
characters are women, and they both fall into societal expectations about them where they later lose
their freedom. For example, in A Pair of Silk Stocking , Chopin targets the social expectationupon
one s marriage where she describes the usual mother s responsibilities by saying A dollar or two
should be added to the price usually paid for Janie s shoes, which would insure their lasting an
appreciable time longer than they usually did () As Chopin utilizes imagery, this infers an image
of what Mrs. Sommers plans to do as a mother, who she carefully plan her money to buy new
clothes for her children. Moreover, the word insures means to arrange compensation for damage
that is done to the event, whereas the word appreciable means large enough to be noticed. Yet,
both connotes a stable lasting which further reveal that one of the mother s roles that is expected
by the society is to know how use the money wisely for their children without falling in debt. Thus,
the responsibilities of a mother have overloaded her where she later turn in self indulgent.
Likewise, Chopin not only portrays how women fall into others expectations upon their marriage
yet they also fall into it before their marriage. In the short story A Shameful Affair , the author
describes the primary character as Mildred Kraummer, who she falls in love with the one of the
farmhands. While Mildred meets him fishing, they accidentally give a kiss where the author
narrates He kissed her lips... Shame

Outline and Evaluate Issues Surrounding the Classification and Diagnosis of Depression
Scheff s Labelling Theory is a process which involves labelling people with mental disorders
when they produce behaviour that does not fit with socially constructed norms and labelling those
who reflect stereotyped or stigmatized behaviour of the mentally ill . A disadvantage of labelling
an individual with depression is that labelling can accentuate and prolong the issue. In addition by
labelling someone with depression who in fact is not depressed may in fact become depressed as a
result. Another problem is that labelling an individual with depression means that they can have

There are also issues relating to reliability which may affect the diagnosis. One type is Test retest
reliability, which occurs when a practitioner makes the same consistent diagnosis on separate
occasions from the same information. In terms of depression this can be applied if the same
Doctor or Psychiatrist gives a patient a diagnosis of depression on two separate occasions. The
other is Inter rater reliability occurs when several practitioners make identical, independent
diagnoses of the same patient. This can be applied to depression by confirming that the diagnosis of
depression is accurate in a given situation.
Issues of validity also arise in the diagnosis of depression. For example, Predictive validity occurs if
diagnosis leads to successful treatment, then the diagnosis can be seen as valid. Under the heading
of depression, there are a series of depressive disorders such as Major Depressive Disorder, Pre
Menstrual Disorder etc. In terms of depression predictive validity will occur if the right diagnosis
is made followed by a subsequent correct course of action.
Research by Sanchez Villegas et al (2008) supports the predictive validity of depression diagnosis.
They assessed the validity of the Structured Clinical Interview to diagnose depression, finding that
74.2% of those originally diagnosed as depressed had been accurately

We tend to think that whether one ought to be retained in a particular job position depends on
whether they are qualified for the job, rather than whether they are a generally decent person.
Suggesting that Tiger, Kobe, Magic, or Jordan should not be allowed to pursue their profession
in virtue of their personal indiscretions would amount to a unique kind of discrimination. From
the standpoint of employment qualifications, one s sexual behavior is usually an irrelevant
consideration. This brings us to the second consideration concerning punishment in one s
professional life based on actions in one s personal life. We tend to think that there is an
important separation between one s public life and one s private affairs. When one is a celebrity
like Tiger Woods, this line is blurred considerably, and one might claim that the loss of this
distinction is the price one pays for fame. However, this imposes an arbitrary constraint on a
person s individual freedoms. If one has a right to the maintenance of a public and a private sphere,
the fact that a person is famous is not obviously a reason for violating this right.
THE COMPANIES THAT DROPPED TIGER WOODS The second ethical question raised by
the Tiger Woods affair scandal concerns whether it is ethical to break a professional contract
based on a person s actions in their personal life. This is a complicated question, and I will limit
the discussion to one pertinent facet of it. If Tiger

Most of the time when a person is nervous or sad, they become sensitive when other people are
aware of these feelings and quickly try to learn to hide their emotions. Many ways you can
determine this nervousness is a person may breathe heavily, stumble on their words, and avoid eye

When the immune system functions properly, the system protects the body against any invaders

Essay On Keeping The Drinking Age
Without a doubt, the United States has been facing serious national problems with underage
drinking. Depending on personal ideologies, some people might not agree that the current
minimum drinking age of twenty one is based on scientific facts rather then ideology of
prohibitionism. For example, since 1975 over seventeen thousand lives have been saved since the
minimum legal drinking age(MLDA) was changed to age twenty one (Balkin 167). This shows that
even over a short amount of time, a higher MLDA helps decrease the risk of teen suicides,

This act gave full federal highway funds only to states that set the minimum age to purchase or

Life Experiences In Life
McVay.Session1. Journal
I ve had three life experiences I feel have influenced my academic goals for the better. The first one
was when I was 18 years old. I had a promising future ahead of me, but I was young and naГЇve.
Getting married was more important than going to college. Before I knew it, we had three
children under the age of four years old. I was a busy, stay at home mom, and I absolutely loved
it. I valued the closeness I had with my kids. I dabbled a bit in home businesses to bring in extra
money.
Sales sparked my interests and talents. My marriage was crumbling and I knew I needed a backup
plan, so I tried to pursue school but my husband never allowed it. I lived in a controlled
environment, with no room for personal growth.
The kids and I experienced verbal, emotional, and physical abuse. My marriage lasted 15 years
before it came to an end. In 2010, I found myself with three kids, no house, no job, no education,
and money. I was starting completely over with nothing but a high school diploma. I was kicking
myself for not going to college when I was eighteen. Having someone control my life to the point
that you became completely dependent on them was eye opening. This experience taught me a lot,
but it also fueled my desire to become educated and not let anyone take that away from me again. I
was an advocate for any youth I was in contact with to get an education and become independent

The option contract can be a convenient solution for the buyer when the demand is difficult to
predict due to market volatility. This type of contract helps the buyer to reduce the inventory risk
and keep good relations with the suppliers, as they both agree to fix a price and adjust orders
quantities after the demand have been determined, paying a reservation pricethat will be lost if the
buyer decide not to exercise the option. For the supplier, sometimes can be beneficial, sometimes
not, depending on the uncertainty in the demand and how much it costfor them to fulfill orders in

Lincoln s Battle with God by Stephen Mansfield depicts Abraham Lincoln s lifelong relationship
with religion. The book does an outstanding job of giving a generous background of Lincoln s
religious journey. Personally, I chose the book because of the title. Seeing the name Lincoln s
Battle with God just made me want to learn more about Lincoln s religious struggles throughout
his life. Mansfield begins the book by talking about Lincoln s childhood and relationships with his

parents had on him and how their relationships affected Lincoln s faith in the future. Lincoln even

The book covers an interesting subject matter that many people are not aware of. Stephen

However, despite Mansfield offering tons of information to the readers, his work began to

in their work, I feel Mansfield could have done without some repetition. To me, some important
points were passed over by ideas that were constantly being repeated. Because of this I felt I was

This review is on the book, The Way Things Ought to Be by Rush Limbaugh. The Way Things
Ought to Be was published in 1992 by Pocket Books. Rush uses humor and popular culture to
discuss his opinions of the way the government ought to work. He was one of the nation s most
popular radio stars at the time that the book was published. His radio show went national in the
year of 1988, after 28 years of being a local radio talk show host in Sacramento. Rush then
decided that he would take his conservative, yet sometimes provocative, beliefs and publish his
first book The Way Things Ought to Be. Rush is very intrigued by the way in which political and
social issues affect society. He is very confident in the individuals that make up society. In... Show

I picked a few of what I think are the most important arguments to discuss: abortion, feminism,
religion, environmentalism. These topics are very controversial in today s society. The first
topic is abortion. Rush takes the conservative standpoint of pro life, except in cases of the
mother s life being at risk. He is opposed to abortion because he believes that life begins at
conception. He strongly disagrees with other people s opinions on this topic. According to
Rush, supporting abortion is also supporting crime, illegitimacy, the dissolution of the family,
and callousness of the living. He also says that feminists are the only people to support abortion,
because they want the government out of their womb . Rush even went as low as to compare
abortion with rape. He used the argument that many women rightfully use in support of abortion
it s my body and I have the right to choose what I do with it in order to justify rape. He said, What
if a man claimed the right to rape, using the same principle found in the theory that it is his body
and he has the right to choose? (Chap. 6, pg. 52, Par. 1, Limbaugh). There is most definitely a
difference in rape and having a

Descriptive research is often used as a pre cursor to more quantitatively research designs, the
general overview giving some valuable pointers as to what variables are worth testing quantitatively.
Quantitative experiments are often expensive and time consuming so it is often good sense to get
an idea of what hypotheses are worth testing.
DISADVANTAGES Because there are no variables manipulated, there is no way to statistically
analyze the results. Many scientists regard this type of study as very unreliable and unscientific . In
addition, the results of observational studies are not repeatable, and so there can be no replication
of the experiment and reviewing of the results.
SURVEY
Survey research is one of the most important areas of measurement in applied social research.
The broad area of survey research encompasses any measurement procedures that involve asking
questions of respondents. A survey can be anything forms a short paper and pencil feedback form
to an intensive one on one in depth interview. Survey may be used to reveal summary statistics by
showing responses to all possible questionnaire items. It often provides leads in identifying needed
changes. May be used to explore relationships between 2 or more variables.
OBSERVATION
In marketing and the social sciences, observational research (or field research) is a social research
technique that involves the direct observation of phenomena

Psychological Analysis of Lee Harvey Oswald Essay
On November 22nd, 1963 President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. It was concluded by The
Warren Commission that the man who assassinated President Kennedy was 24 year old, Lee
Harvey Oswald. Less than 48 hours after Kennedy was shot, while Oswald was being transferred
to the county jail, he was assassinated. Lee Harvey Oswaldwas killed before he could undergo any
psychological or psychiatric analysis, so it is impossible to know for certain what his mental state
was at the time of President Kennedy s assassination. The Warren Commissionstates that they were
unable to reach any definite conclusions as to whether or not he (Lee Harvey Oswald) was sane
under prevailing legal standards (Warren et al., 1964, p. 375). I do not... Show more content on

It is known that during the divorce Oswald s mother often complained openly about how difficult
is was for her to raise three children on her own (Ewing McCann, 2006, p. 22). Undoubtedly
causing a young Oswald to feel rejected, unwanted, and like a burden. It is noted, that at this time
Oswald s family members realized that Oswald kept to himself most of the time and was becoming
increasingly withdrawn (Ewing McCann, 2006, p. 22).
As Oswald got a little older he became more delinquent and started to skip school while his
mother was at work. To make matters worse he and his mother were constantly moving and he
was transferred from school to school. By the time he was ten years old, Oswald had enrolled in
his sixth school (Ewing McCann, 2006, p. 23). When Oswald was 12 years old, he and his
mother moved to New York City to live with Oswald s older half brother and his family. Soon
after arriving, during an argument, Oswald threatened his sister in law with a pocketknife, and
Oswald and his mother were asked to leave (Ewing McCann, 2006, p. 23). This incident truly
speaks to Oswald s propensity for violence and is far from the only example in his life, which we
will see. After that incident, Oswald continued his truancy, which lead to him going to court and
being put on probation. This was his first encounter with the law. He was also ordered to stay at

The Application Of Pedagogical Principles
Analyse the application of pedagogical principles in own area of specialism
Pedagogy is a word that is used to describe the art and science of teaching. Pedagogical roles are the
many and varied that a teacher may perform while teaching, such as structuring, soliciting,
responding and reacting. Other roles involve assessing, criticising, discussing, encouraging,
enquiring, evaluating, explain, giving individual instruction, lecturing, organising, presenting,
questioning and answering, repeating and reviewing and team teaching and tutoring etc.
(L.Walklin 2000; pg 175)
In my own specialist area (Maths) I used pedagogic technologies like Power points for delivering
the sessions, and for messages I would use E mail, SMS and Twitter. For assignments I would
prefer my students to use Digital library, E books, Websites and Newsfeeds. Sometimes I give
tasks like Statistical analysis, Data analysis, Spreadsheet, and Search engine to my learners to do
independent work on computers. I also do Computer based assessment tools e.g. multiple choice
questions and quizzes. I also involve my students to design their own Maths posters on specific
topics using computer design tools e.g. Presentation tools and Multimedia presentation.

Concerns of Bioterrorism
Issues/ Concerns of Bioterrorism US/Guam
What is Bioterrorism? What are the types of Bioterrorism? What issues or concerns should we
be aware of when talking about Bioterrorism? How is Bioterrorism different from the United
States and that of Guam? These are some of the things people would think of and wonder when
they hear the word Bioterrorism. It s important to know the different steps or precautions that a
person can look into in order to prevent themselves from being a victim of Bioterrorism. First
things first, Bioterrorism is defined as the intentional release of toxic biological agents to harm
and terrorize civilians, in the name of a political or other cause. The history of Bioterrorism goes
way back. According to the Terrorism Issues and Homeland Security, there have always been
efforts to use germs and disease as weapons. The reported risk has led the U.S. government to
expend immense resources for bio defense in the early part of the 21st century. According to Right
Diagnosis from health grades, there was a list of the different types of Bioterrorism and they are:
Anthrax, Salmonella, Glanders, Melioidosis, and Smallpox.
Anthrax is an acute infectious disease caused by the spore forming bacterium Bacillus anthracis.
This disease mostly occurs in wild and domestic animals such as: antelopes, camels, cattle, goats,
sheep, and other herbivores, but can occur in human if they get in contact with the infected animal.

Power Struggle In Mo Yan s Red Sorghum
The novel Red Sorghum is a piece that captures the period of time in which the Japanese military
invaded and soon after occupied areas of China, including the county of Gaomi. Use of this
county is a key decision as it is also, the author, Mo Yan s home. That fact that this county is
familiar to him can be noted through the way the story is told; there are instances where the reader
can note the familiarity, authenticity, and customs of the area. This is exemplified in a passage
from the fifth chapter where the author illustrates his home of Gaomi as, largely swampy land that
is flooded by autumn rains (p.39) and the people were especially decent, strong willed, and
ambitious (p. 9). At this point and beforehand, it grows quite clear... Show more content on

It is through his use of rhetoric and storytelling does the reader realize the importance of the
sorghum. Although it is just a grass plant, by the end of the novel it becomes a character on its
own. It sees the best and worst of this period and shields those from opposing forces. These
forces included the likes of the Japanese foreign military and even fellow Chinese citizens. This
period of time is one that people experienced great amounts of conflict and chaos. However, we
do see the ability for the characters and certain people to stand together in an effort of resistance
against outside forces. The author successfully illustrates the very real struggles that ordinary
people due to the chaos from the Japanese and each other. There are also instances in which we see
the author conveys the importance of the Chinese people coming together against a common
enemy. Also, we see a change in gender expectations and behaviors through a literary figure. This
can be noted through the intelligent and untraditional heroine, Grandma. She is the epitome of
liberalization and defies the image of being just a silent and beautiful figure. Mo Yan s writing is
filled with large amounts of imagery and historical context to fully exemplify the conflict and
horrors of China in the

Brandon Ingram Case Study
This article is about what kind of player Brandon Ingram will be when he starts his rookie season
with the Lakers. He is not going to cause as much drama as D Angelo Russell did last season.
During his introductory news conference on Tuesday, he did not anticipate how he might play
this season instead he promised that he would be coachable. He said this same word three times
as he was questioned at the Lakers practice facility with second round draft pick Ivica Zubac. He
said that he will be coachable enough to listen to the coach. He just expects to work hard and
show up every day aggressive. He also pointed out that no one can replace Kobe Bryant and that

Researchers have now found that eating pasta actually lowers chances of obesity after examining
data on thousands of Italians. According to George Pounis savoring pasta helps a healthy body
mass index, lower waist circumference, and better waist hip ratio after looking at data. Older
research has recommended the Mediterranean Diet which is a lifestyle not a meal plan.
Researchers say that the unknown about how pasta affects health has been solved by this new
study. These results were published online, July 4 in the journal Nutrition and Diabetes. Pounis
added that eating pasta does not increase body weight but actually lowers it. People have
avoided pasta in these current years because they thought it was making them fat, but this new
research has caused people to look back on these views. Two huge studies were started in
Pozzilli, Italy so Pounis and the others part of IRCCS Neuromed can analyze. This included
23,000 Italians. One of the studies was the Moli sani Project which involved citizens part of the
Molise region and the other was the Italian Nutrition and Health Survey which looks at the eating
habits in all of Italy. The research didn t include overeating pasta which could add weight. Licia

Essay Romantic Love in Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale
Romantic Love in Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale
In her novel The Handmaid s Tale, Margaret Atwood addresses the concept of different expression
of romantic love through the eyes of Offred, a woman who has lost almost all her freedom to a
repressive, dystopic society. Throughout her struggle against oppression and guilt, Offred s view
evolves, and it is through this process that Atwood demonstrates the nature of love as it develops
under the most austere of circumstances.
The first glimses of romantic love one notes in this novel are the slivers of Offred s memeories of
Luke, her husband from whom she has been separated. For the most part they are sense memories
she recalls most of all images of comfort: of lying in her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s lack of love we die from. There s nobody here I can love, all the people I love are dead or
elsewhere (131 132). This presents her to the readers as alone, but seeking some comfort in her life
something more than a physical relationship.
Her relationship with the commander is transient one of convenience and necessity. Her feelings
for him are ambiguous, and confusing even to her. She muses: I ought to feel hatred for this
man. I know I ought to feel it, but it isn t what I do feel. What I feel is more complicated than
that. I don t know what to call it. It isn t love (76). So we see that Offred sets up this relationship
as the antithesis of romantic love a foil for her relationships with both Luke and Nick. It is
forced: a physical act devoid of desire, and in it she feels dominated and trapped. How she
describes herself in relation to this situation, even at her most empowered (when she is with him
in her office), is very revealing. Calling herself an attentive pet, prick eared and eager to perform
(238), she tolerates this relationship for the tiny bit of power it can afford her in this dystopic
society. And yet, there is something more to this, because she admits to taking an interest in their
social interaction: I don t love the commander, or anything like it, but he s of interest to me, he
occupies space, he is more than a shadow (211). This last

Rational Choice Theory, Social Process Theory And...
Criminology is a developing field of science that the justice system and its workers use to classify
and explain crime and criminals. Within the field, there are people that are extending theories that
have been around for some time. If they are not continuing work on an existing theory, they are
developing a new one. Our class discussed five main theories. The theories we discussed in class
are Rational Choice Theory, Trait Theory, Social Structure Theory, Social Process Theory, and
Developmental Theory. Rational Choice Theory says that a person chooses to commit the crime
based on if the reward outweighs the risk, regardless of the crime. Within this theory, there are
four sub theories, General Deterrence, Specific Deterrence, Rational Choice, and Incarceration.
Each of these theories includes the general characteristics of Rational Choice Theory and apply to
either offender specific or offense specific crimes as evaluating the risk of crime. Offender specific

Offense specific crimes are crimes where the offender reacts selectively to the characteristics of a
particular criminal act(Siegel, 2011). The first of the four sub theories, General Deterrence, focuses
on the fear of punishment. The best way to enforce this is to ensure the certainty, severity, and
swiftness of the punishment. Next, the second sub theory is specific deterrence. Specific deterrence
is the view that criminal sanctions should be so powerful that offenders will never repeat their
criminal acts. Furthermore, the third sub theory is more of an extension of the second sub theory.
Incapacitation says the keeping an offender behind bars in the years they would be more likely to
commit the crime prevents them from committing crime and lowers the crime

The Human Mark On The Environment
Sedentism and domestication represent not just a technological change but also a change in
worldview. Land was no longer a free good, available to anyone, with resources scattered
randomly across the landscape; it was transformed into particular territories, collectively or
individually owned, on which people raised crops and flocks. Thus, sedentism and a high level
of resource extraction (whether by complex foraging or farming) led to concepts of property that
were rare in previous foraging societies. Graves, grave goods, permanent housing, grain
processing equipment, as well as the fields and herds, connected people to places. The human
mark on the environment was larger and more obvious following sedentization and the rise of
farming; people transformed the landscape in more dramatic ways building terraces or walls to
hold back floods.
One of the more dramatic effects of settling down was the change in female fertility and the rise in
population. A number of different effects together caused the population to grow.Among modern
foragers, a woman s pregnancies tend to be spaced three to four years apart because of the
extended period of breastfeeding characteristic of these societies. Extended means not just that
children are weaned at three to four years of age but that they still nurse whenever they feel like it,
as frequently as several times an hour (Shostak 1981, 67). This nursing stimulus triggers the
secretion of a hormone that suppresses ovulation (Henry

Human Aggression In Frankenstein And The Modern Prometheus...
The last full novel we read, Frankenstein, or, The Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley, touches on
human aggression much more directly than Candide or The Overcoat. Frankenstein, or, The
Modern Prometheus starts with a create but ends with a monster. The creature suffers an
extraordinary amount in an amazingly short timespan. It is essentially the not funny version of
Candide. Initially, I felt extreme pity for the creature. His only family left him (i.e., Victor
Frankenstein) and he had little knowledge of his world. Even after murdering, I still pitied the
creature. Victor, in my opinion, was the real killer and was guilty of negligence that lead to
someone dying. Shelley s novel prompted the most logical arguments out of the books we read.
Is the creature guilty? And as I have already said, I did not think he was. But as the novel
unfolded, I found myself feeling extremely sorry for the monster while simultaneously slowly
realizing his guilt in the situation, which makes him a monster. When Victor meets his creation on
the mountain is when my opinion started to shift, but when the monster plans revenge on Victor
and executes his wife. No amount of ignorance and lack of self control excuses a being from first
degree murder, which is willful, deliberate, and premeditated. This self awareness of a reader s
own opinion of the monster can measure one s morality and is the true horror of the novel. Yes, all
the events that happen the monster are horrific in their own right. But,

(Source: ihaonline.org). In contrast, the CEO position requires personal qualities that are not
developed in the finance departments as to personal charisma, communication skills, and passion.
(Source: allbusiness.com). Furthermore, in a finance department a person learns how to avoid
conflicts, while a CEO actually uses these conflicts. (Source: asiaone.com).
Obviously, the pros of hiring a CFO to be a CEO would be that the person would prepare great
plans, monitor them carefully and control them with perfection. The person would ensure the
financial stability of the company, and that the company complies with all laws, and the creditors
were paid in time. In other words, the person would develop a great reputation for the company
with the investors and stockholders, and the credit rating of the company is likely to increase.
Consequently, the person would bring about perfection in internal control, set up an excellent
system for planning in every department, and make policies systematically. (Source:
bridgespan.org). On the other hand, the cons of hiring a CFO to be a CEO would be that the
person would not exude great energy, nor would be highly motivated. The person would be more
prone to turn away from open competition, and would not accept criticism. Specifically, the person
would stick to traditional markets and products and will not seek for new ideas and innovation as
these can be risky, foregoing opportunities. Therefore, the

  • 2. Argumentative Essay On Law School What do lawyers learn in law school? They learn to win... what they ve got to start thinking is how do they solve problems. Benjamin Carson Law school can be a painfully long process. For some, it s worth it. For others, the painfully long process can be stressful and mentally challenging. Although the path to becoming a lawyer is very demanding, a person can reduce the stress by studying the positive, negative, and mentally challenging aspects that he or she may face. Some may worry about the affects of law school, but they need to remember there are a lot of positives in it. First of all, it all depends on the type of person you are in law school to see if your mental health will be affected. The Wellness Committee at Indiana Law School is a safe haven for students suffering from depression, anxiety, extreme stress, or any other types of mental health issues. So, considering that some law schools have clinics and doctors to help the mentally sick, people can also seek advice or help off site, or off campus. For instance, the JLAP (Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program) is not on a specific campus but it is a place where you can seek assistance. The program will keep all of their patient s problems and concerns confidential so they need no stress about their peers knowing. (Covington) Just because you have heard about the struggles of some people who have had a mental illness from their college era doesn t mean that you will too. For example, individuals that choose ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also, it is one of the places which was more times destructed and rebuilt by the Christians. It was the place where political events and where celebrated and sometimes it was used as audience room. It also had a room at the top of the place where the king was listening without being seen. It is very curious that this place did not have windows, it was only open at the top of the roof. It is situated in a way that in the past the Arabic people could pray. During the Christian time it was used as a chapel. Its appearance is from the reconstructions between the 16th century and 20th century. • 4. New York Islanders Research Paper 1993...That was the last time the New York Islanders held a 3 2 game series lead in a round of the NHL playoffs (Washington). After winning a game five for the first time in eleven previous tries last night in Sunrise, outlasting the Florida Panthers 2 1 in double overtime, this rag tag bunch of scrappers look to write their own history in Brooklyn after winning the second longest overtime game in Islanders history. The Islanders, per chief statistician Eric Hornick, have hosted a game six at home with the chance to clinch a series six times in their illustrious past. They have won all six. Now, if you are truly the superstitious type, you would be alarmed at all the sixes showing. Good thing I am not as I write this column, as the walls in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Save for a brief glimpse, the Islanders youngster has been a shell of himself during his second pro season. Already sent to Bridgeport after a couple of discussions during training camp, he has not responded to being called out by Capuano a couple of weeks prior to the end of the regular season. Continuing on that, neither has Josh Bailey, who looks tentative and lacking any confidence at all. He seems to be skating in mud, is not executing in any zone and is having a dastardly time just clearing the puck. He could be next in line to receive the press box pass, you would think as early as game six. Nikolay Kulemin got the message, even though he was spared the public wrath. He was much more active last night and dogged on the forecheck. Marek Zidlicky (23:45) and Steve Bernier (20:21 plus 9 hits) were also both very effective making their series debuts. With a combined 115 games of playoff experience between them, both should remain in the lineup as Jack Capuano continued to push mostly all the right buttons in this series. Hornick s fantastic The Skinny contributed to this column. [link: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Great Halifax Explosion Case Study On December 6 1917, hundreds were left dead in Halifax, Nova Scotia due to a human error quick to be immortalized. CBC news says the Imo, a Belgian relief vessel that left the Halifax Harbor behind schedule on the morning of December 6. Another vessel the Mont Blank, a cargo ship leaded with explosive materials, was entering. The Captain of the Imo disregarded the laws of the sea, going over the speed limit for the narrows of the harbor and traversing it from the wrong direction. Both the Imo and Mont Blank moved toward each other, each unwilling to change course. The ships made evasive maneuvers at the same time, causing the vessels to scrape against each other; the sparks from the collision set aflame the explosive materials aboard the Mont... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The very existence of disaster photography proves this. Voyeur as defined by the Oxford Dictionary is a person who enjoys seeing the pain or distress of others. Why would humans continuously photograph others suffering if they did not gain some pleasure from it? Photographers might say that the motives of disaster photography are to document and expose horrors around the world. The intention of the photographer about how the photo should be received and how it is actually received can be quite different. An example of how humanity s voyeuristic tendencies effects how viewers react to a photo is given by Susan Sontag in her book Regarding the Pain of Others. When photographs of suffering are staged, people are surprised to learn they were staged, and always disappointed instead of celebrating the fact that the suffering was not real (55). This disappointment is felt because of the need to observe genuine suffering. The photos of the Halifax disaster used to make postcards are real and it is because of humanity s voyeuristic tendencies that there is a market for these snapshots of ... • 6. Bilbo Themes J.R.R. Tolkien s The Hobbit has often been regarded as one of the greatest fantasy stories. A majority of the appeal of The Hobbit lies in the fact that it is, at its very core, a story about the journey of a seemingly ordinary hero. The story may appeal to children because even on a surface level, it is a story about the fantastical adventures once can have if they leave the comfort of their home. However, it is also a journey from past to present; it shows how the richness of the tradition of the past has a lot to teach us, and it tells us to live in the present with both the lessons of the past enriching our experience, but also to consider what the future can hold for us. However, the most essential journey in The Hobbitis the journey... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, as soon as Bilbo gains the One Ring, he immediately thinks of his friends: He wondered whether he ought not, now he had a magic ring, to go back into the horrible, horrible tunnels and look for his friends (85). Even though Bilbo has gained control of one of the most powerful magic objects in the story, he still feels a sense of duty towards the dwarves, one that goes beyond the contract he signed to help them on their question. In contrast, Thorin is highly unable to look beyond the contract, as he feels betrayed when Bilbo takes the Arkenstone and gives it to the elves and men to make peace (252). The dwarves have sense of loyalty and community towards each other, but that does not extend to Bilbo, as he gives away what Thorin most wants and therefore, betrays him by breaching their contract. While Bilbo grows to value the dwarves friendship, the dwarves are narrow minded because they only see Bilbo as a means to an end and call him a thief and burglar when he betrays ... • 9. Emily Bernard Letter To My Son Summary The author, Emily Bernard, is a professor of English and Critical Race and Ethnic Studies at the University of Vermont. She has experience teaching several courses related to African American Literature and Race and Ethnicity. The author was motivated to reflect on this topic in response to The Atlantic article Letter to My Son , written by Ta Nehisi Coates. However, instead of addressing the fear and danger behind raising African American sons, she instead voices out her worries of raising African American daughters and her disbelief over the fact that her daughters can feel protected or safe simply because of their difference in gender. Her ultimate goal in writing this piece is to inform the audience of the rage and worries she has over raising her daughters in this society, and that maintaining hope is what allows her to provide [her] children safety without suffocation. Given that this article was published in July of 2015 and the topic she is addressing is still extremely relevant to our world today, this conversation is of immediate political importance as the author is crying out to the world about the relentlessness of Black American Motherhood and how fearful... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... VAP is a growing problem in health care facilities which increases the cost of patient care and increases patient care time, hospital length of stay, and patient morbidity. Ventilator associated pneumonia increases healthcare costs by more than $40,000 per hospitalized patient (Lisboa, Kollef, Rello, 2008). Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services plan to stop paying hospitals for necessary care caused by preventable complications including nosocomial infections resulting in unintended fiscal circumstances (Lisboa et al.). 2 The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) established recommended guidelines to decrease the risk of VAP. It is these best practice interventions that nurses should follow when caring for mechanically ventilated patients. The 2003 CDC guidelines reported that 63% of admitted patients in the ICU have oral colonization associated with a pathogen resulting from VAP (Cason, Tyner, Saunders, Broome, 2007). The CDC provided a set of seven guidelines to reduce risks related to hand washing, wearing gloves, suctioning, elevated head of bed (HOB), education, oral hygiene program, and use of antiseptic rinse. Studies suggested that best practices for reducing VAP were not consistently implemented. According to the Centers for Disease Control, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and gram positive Staphylococcus aureus were the two most common bacteria linked to VAP (Babcock et al., 2004). Pseudomonas ... Add a hot dog and peanuts and you are now a fan of a time honored tradition by many Americans. A tradition that many fans look forward to watching in hopes that the players will hit one over the fence while they are in attendance. Many people enjoy playing the game more so than they do watching it. However, the game is not always the same for the players. Some players call themselves softball players while others consider themselves baseballplayers. Is there a difference? Baseball bats have a maximum length of 42 inches, but lengths over 34 inches is not a common practice (Stamp, 2013). The difference between the weight and the length of a bat is referred to as the drop. If a bat s weight is 24 ounces and its length is 34 inches, the bat would have a 10 drop or be referred to as a drop 10 ( The Differences Between Baseball Softball, n.d.). For high school baseball and up, the bats maximum drop is usually 3 , while softball maximum drop is 12 ounces and may not be greater than a 8 drop difference ( The Differences Between Baseball Softball, n.d.). The shape of a baseball bat compared to a softball bat is also very different. The softball bat, also called a bottle bat because of its slender shape, has a maximum diameter of 2 Вј inches while baseball bats have a maximum diameter requirement of 2 Вѕ inches ( The Differences Between Baseball Softball , n.d.). Softball bats tend to be made of composite materials or various metal, in addition to metals and composite materials, some baseball bats are made of wood. From the first pitch at a baseball or softball game, it is immediately recognized that the pitching styles are very different between the two sports. For instance, Emperor Nero is reported to have engaged in a marriage ceremony with one of his male slaves. Emperor Elagabalus married a Carian slave named Hierocles. It should be noted, however, that conubium existed only between a civis Romanus and a civis Romana (that is, between a male Roman citizen and a female Roman citizen), so that a so called marriage between two Roman males (or with a slave) would have no legal standing in Roman law (apart, presumably, from the arbitrary will of the emperor in the two aforementioned cases). Furthermore, matrimonium is an institution involving a mother, mater. The idea implicit in the word is that a man takes a woman in marriage, in matrimonium ducere, so that he may have children by her. Still, the lack of legal validity notwithstanding, there is a consensus among modern historians that same sex relationships existed in ancient Rome, but the exact frequency and nature of same sex unions during that period is obscure. In 342 AD Christian emperors Constantius II and Constans issued a law in the Theodosian Code (C. Th. 9.7.3) prohibiting same sex marriage in Rome and ordering execution for those so married. The first documented same sex marriage was between the two men Pedro DГaz and MuГ±o Vandilaz, in the Galician municipality of Rairiz de Veiga in Spain, on April 16, 1061. They were ... It could be through collaborative inquiry, participatory research, action learning or through contextual action (O Brian, 2001). Basically, Action Research involves group of people working towards the same goals. For example, the company X created a group of 5 people to figure out the problem the company is facing such as to figure out ways that caused poor performance. In this case, they should identify what the major problem is, take steps to gather data and information, analyze them and work together to come with the best solution. Once they come up with the plan, they use that to see if their efforts are good enough to solve the issues. In this case, managementdecides whether it s successful or not. If they are unsatisfied, they can ask the group to try again (O Brian, 2001). In Action research, the researcher and the client work together in order to meet or achieve the targeted goals (Padak, 2015). There are different stages associated with this research such as identifying questions what are the major issues that need immediate care, collecting data and information from various sources so that one can understand what the real problem is. We argue that the social capital resident in communities of practice leads to behavioral changes, which in turn positively influence business performance. We identify four specific performance outcomes associated with the communities of practice we studied and link these outcomes to the basic dimensions of social capital. These dimensions include connections among practitioners who may or may not be co located; relationships that build a sense of trust and mutual obligation, and a common language and context that can be shared by community members. In the short stories A Pair of Silk Stockings , A Shameful Affair , and The Story of Hour by Kate Chopin from the novel The Awakening and Selected Stories of Kate Chopin, they uncover the expected roles and responsibilities of women in the early 1900s. Through imagery and diction, Chopin reveals that people tend to fall into others expectations upon their marriage and even before it, which leads to lose their personal freedom and gain desires in conflict with social expectations. First, numerous people especially women in the early 1900s fall into others expectations upon and before their marriage. In A Pair of Silk Stockings and A Shameful Affair , two of their main characters are women, and they both fall into societal expectations about them where they later lose their freedom. For example, in A Pair of Silk Stocking , Chopin targets the social expectationupon one s marriage where she describes the usual mother s responsibilities by saying A dollar or two should be added to the price usually paid for Janie s shoes, which would insure their lasting an appreciable time longer than they usually did () As Chopin utilizes imagery, this infers an image of what Mrs. Sommers plans to do as a mother, who she carefully plan her money to buy new clothes for her children. Moreover, the word insures means to arrange compensation for damage that is done to the event, whereas the word appreciable means large enough to be noticed. Yet, both connotes a stable lasting which further reveal that one of the mother s roles that is expected by the society is to know how use the money wisely for their children without falling in debt. Thus, the responsibilities of a mother have overloaded her where she later turn in self indulgent. Likewise, Chopin not only portrays how women fall into others expectations upon their marriage yet they also fall into it before their marriage. In the short story A Shameful Affair , the author describes the primary character as Mildred Kraummer, who she falls in love with the one of the farmhands. While Mildred meets him fishing, they accidentally give a kiss where the author narrates He kissed her lips... Shame ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The other is Inter rater reliability occurs when several practitioners make identical, independent diagnoses of the same patient. How would one feel if a loved one was killed in a collision due to an intoxicated driver? Wouldn t the individual want to do something about it? The death of the Candy Lightner s daughter lead to her development of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and the 1984 National Minimum Drinking Age Act. This act gave full federal highway funds only to states that set the minimum age to purchase or consume alcohol at twenty one years (Sanghavi). Once all states raised their MLDA to twenty one years, drunk driving accidents and deaths decreased. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the reduction in traffic fatalities due to the legal drinking age of twenty one prevented 846 deaths in 1997 and prevented a total of 17,359 deaths since 1975 (Balkin 168). This single statistic shows that automobile accidents have substantially decreased in response to the authorization of the National Minimum Drinking Age Act. In addition, the average teenager earns their drivers license at the age of seventeen. This being said, allowing a young driver with only one years experience (excluding a learners permit) to legally consume alcohol would surely be an irresponsible decision. Most people know ... The book does an outstanding job of giving a generous background of Lincoln s religious journey. Personally, I chose the book because of the title. His radio show went national in the year of 1988, after 28 years of being a local radio talk show host in Sacramento. The first topic is abortion. Rush takes the conservative standpoint of pro life, except in cases of the mother s life being at risk. He is opposed to abortion because he believes that life begins at conception. He strongly disagrees with other people s opinions on this topic. According to Rush, supporting abortion is also supporting crime, illegitimacy, the dissolution of the family, and callousness of the living. He also says that feminists are the only people to support abortion, because they want the government out of their womb . Rush even went as low as to compare abortion with rape. He used the argument that many women rightfully use in support of abortion it s my body and I have the right to choose what I do with it in order to justify rape. In addition, the results of observational studies are not repeatable, and so there can be no replication of the experiment and reviewing of the results. Throughout her struggle against oppression and guilt, Offred s view evolves, and it is through this process that Atwood demonstrates the nature of love as it develops under the most austere of circumstances. Her relationship with the commander is transient one of convenience and necessity. Her feelings for him are ambiguous, and confusing even to her. She muses: I ought to feel hatred for this man. I know I ought to feel it, but it isn t what I do feel. What I feel is more complicated than that. I don t know what to call it. It isn t love (76). So we see that Offred sets up this relationship as the antithesis of romantic love a foil for her relationships with both Luke and Nick. It is forced: a physical act devoid of desire, and in it she feels dominated and trapped. How she describes herself in relation to this situation, even at her most empowered (when she is with him in her office), is very revealing. Calling herself an attentive pet, prick eared and eager to perform (238), she tolerates this relationship for the tiny bit of power it can afford her in this dystopic society. • 52. The Human Mark On The Environment Sedentism and domestication represent not just a technological change but also a change in worldview. Land was no longer a free good, available to anyone, with resources scattered randomly across the landscape; it was transformed into particular territories, collectively or individually owned, on which people raised crops and flocks. Thus, sedentism and a high level of resource extraction (whether by complex foraging or farming) led to concepts of property that were rare in previous foraging societies. Graves, grave goods, permanent housing, grain processing equipment, as well as the fields and herds, connected people to places. The human mark on the environment was larger and more obvious following sedentization and the rise of farming; people transformed the landscape in more dramatic ways building terraces or walls to hold back floods. One of the more dramatic effects of settling down was the change in female fertility and the rise in population. A number of different effects together caused the population to grow.Among modern foragers, a woman s pregnancies tend to be spaced three to four years apart because of the extended period of breastfeeding characteristic of these societies. Extended means not just that children are weaned at three to four years of age but that they still nurse whenever they feel like it, as frequently as several times an hour (Shostak 1981, 67). The last full novel we read, Frankenstein, or, The Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley, touches on human aggression much more directly than Candide or The Overcoat. Frankenstein, or, The Modern Prometheus starts with a create but ends with a monster. The creature suffers an extraordinary amount in an amazingly short timespan. It is essentially the not funny version of Candide. Initially, I felt extreme pity for the creature. His only family left him (i.e., Victor Frankenstein) and he had little knowledge of his world. Even after murdering, I still pitied the creature. Victor, in my opinion, was the real killer and was guilty of negligence that lead to someone dying. Shelley s novel prompted the most logical arguments out of the books we read. Is the creature guilty? And as I have already said, I did not think he was. But as the novel unfolded, I found myself feeling extremely sorry for the monster while simultaneously slowly realizing his guilt in the situation, which makes him a monster. When Victor meets his creation on the mountain is when my opinion started to shift, but when the monster plans revenge on Victor and executes his wife. No amount of ignorance and lack of self control excuses a being from first degree murder, which is willful, deliberate, and premeditated. This self awareness of a reader s own opinion of the monster can measure one s morality and is the true horror of the novel.
