Essay about The music industry-globalizing in many ways
Edi K.
THE MUSIC INDUSTRY GLOBALIZING IN MANY WAYS
The music industry is in a time of growth at this very moment. The environment for its growth has
been increasing rapidly on many geographical boundaries and has been established through
information technology and Internet. In this paper I will analyze how the music industry not only
has been affected by Globalization as an economic institution but also that it has become a
worldwide globalized commodity. First, I will begin by analyzing how the music industry, though
its consumption is not a necessity, it is affected by large economic factors and has become a large
Music Market. Furthermore I will analyze how the music market has globalizing tendencies ... Show

The popular music industry in the late 1990s was dominated by a small number of integrated
corporations with headquarters in Europe, the United States and Japan. This music market starts
simply with an artist and moves along through many steps to the consumer. Everything has its start
when a musician presents his music to a music manager, and if he/she finds the music promising, a
contract is signed between the two, recordings are made and a marketing plan is drafted for the

My Research Question:
How was the affect of Leon Trotsky and Snowball?
Throughout time, people learned about history from books, websites, articles, and magazines to
gain their understandings of History. Leon Trotsky played an important role in the Russian
Revolution and so did the character of Snowball from the novel Animal Farm. Their life actions
had a positive affect towards history even though their goals were never accomplished.

Snowball believes in a sustained revolution:
He claims that in demand to support and defend Animal Farm and toughen the certainty of Old
Major s dream of a life without humans, mixt up rebellions in other farms throughout England.
Napoleon always disagrees with Snowball s ideas because he doesn t want him to lead Animal Farm.
Snowball is eventually forced out of the farm when Napoleon uses his guard dogs to attack
Snowball. After that, he is blamed for issues of the farm, and it is claimed that he was in support
of Mr. Jones at the beginning. Even though he fought for Mr. Jones and the shorts offends are
distorted to wounds Napoleon perpetrated on him, those faulted of associating him are achieved
after being required to profess, or declare, and a compensation is proposed for his capture.
Snowball is a very imaginative and knowing pig that manipulated others to his side. It is never
revealed of what has happened to him after he escaped, although in the 1950s film adaptation it is
implied that the dogs killed him. Nevertheless, he is shown escaping the dogs and surviving in the
1999 live action film adaptation.
How does Snowball relate to Leon Trotsky?
Built on Leon Trotsky, Snowball is one if the 2 pigs who develop as leaders of the animals after
Old Major dies. Both, Trotsky and Snowball s similarities are both physical and mental for example:
The name Snowball reminds an image of whiteness,

Impact Of A Baby On Teenage Mothers
Becoming a mother changes a woman s life forever, as you now have a child who depends on
you for love and for a stable environment. Being a teenage mother is even more hard work, as a
lot of the time the young girls have not even grown up themselves. Today I will be exploring the
impact bringing a baby into the world has on a teenager s life. As part of this research, a survey
was conducted in order to find out first hand the impact becoming a motherhad on a group of
teenage girls.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Money is one of the biggest impacts on teenage pregnancy. The cost to prepare for a baby (cot,
change table, pram, clothes, nappies etc.) and prenatal care as well as the other expenses
involved in bringing up a child can pose vast financial hardships for teenage mothers. Often girls
are forced to drop out of school in order to work so they can provide for their baby, but can find it
difficult to find decent jobs since they did not complete their schooling. A high percentage of teen
parents have to rely on welfare payments to support their families, but these payments are often
barley enough to survive on (Home Remedies for you, 2017). Some teenage mothers even rely on
their parents to help financially support them, which can make them feel guilty for having to rely
on their parents. In worse case scenarios, some teenage mothers may find it difficult to even
provide the proper nutrition and care for their babies (Kamalasanan, 2012). In the survey conducted,
many girls

Socks leveled the knee with an affixed tassel. Robbed in custom made cloaks and capes that
drape the body, men s fashion marked a powerful statement. Designed differently quickly
identified position, kings, lords, nobles, knights and peasants. Nonetheless, clothing was warm
and comfortable and always suited for battle. It appears the fashion design switched because
currently lady s garments resemble the men of the medieval era. Yet during that period, lady s
gothic robes swept the floor surrounded with a matching scarf and cape. The chosen cloth, whether
for men or women, usually radiant in color, portrayed the crafty work prepared by selected
seamstress (Bednarz, Miyares, Schug, amp; White, 2006). My love, words are too vague to put into
picture the beauty of these incredible clothing.
Just like the clothing, the characteristics of military during the Battle of Hastings, differed from
current warfare. Soldiers dressed in heavy attire such as chains, helmets, and plated armor. This
warfare excluded guns such as AK47 assault rifles and shot guns; after all, these inventions
waited discovery. Even gun power evaded battle as it too had not surfaced the scene. (Bednarz et
al, (2006) found that soldiers exercise care when using axes, bows, daggers, knives, and swords
that displayed crafty skills. Some of these weapons reminded you of the Musketeers as seen on
television.

Lady Of Shalott Gender Roles
During the Victorian era many common themes are depicted throughout the writings of that time.
One of the more important theme is gender roles. The theme of gender roles is very prominent in
The Lady of Shalott by Alfred Lord Tennyson. Gender roles are also very noticeable in Jane Eyre
by Charlotte BrontГ«. In Alfred Lord Tennyson s The Lady of Shalott, the theme of gender
role is
obvious. The Lady of Shalott is stuck in a tower and has been there for a long time. She feels
alone and isolated while she watched the world around her. This poem shows how women may
have felt trapped in relationships. The Lady wanted to leave and be with Sir Lancelot but was
trapped. This symbolizes how women want to leave a bad relationship but they are

My Unknown Colonies
Unknown #3 Report To start off unknown #3, I picked out O17 from rack A and wrote down
my name, date, class, and I first noticed the broth was a light yellow that was quite cloudy or
milky. Soon later I streaked my organism onto a TSA plate and incubated it at 37oC for 24
hours, t was almost a perfect plate. There was no contamination; I could tell it there was only
one species on the plate and that it was okay for me to move on. There were many isolated
colonies in quadrants 3 and 4. The colonies were small and white in color, it was not translucent.
I then began to make my 2 slants, inoculating a straight line on each slant, I incubated it at 37oC
for 24 hours. The next day, I made sure my slants were pure and also there was a thick line of
organism where I had inoculated with a yellow white color. Now I was ready to begin making my
slides and start staining. I used E. Coli and S. Aureus next to my unknown to help me... Show more

When checking the results, H2S was negative, there were no black precipitants in the tube, and
the organism was motile. After recording those results, I went to the hood to add Kovoc s reagent
to the SIMs and waited for about 30 minutes before observing to get the results, and it came out to
be negative for indole as well. At this point, only one organism matched every result that I received
during all my tests, I decided to do my confirmation test. I did Methyl Red and Voges Proskauer
tests for my confirmation test. After inoculating the MRVP broth and incubating it at 37oC for 120
hours, I took my separated samples to the hood and added in the Methyl Red in one tube and
reagent A then B in the other tube, I mixed it and checked in on both tubes after every 10 minutes.
About 45 minutes later it was clear what the results were, negative for methyl red and positive for
Voges Proskauer. That confirmed that my unknown O17 was Enterobacter

Immigration And Immigration
The debates over immigration and immigration policy did not develop in recent memory. In fact,
one could argue that the debates over this issue date back to antiquity. During Biblical times people
did not agree with each other regarding immigration. Even the authors of the Scriptures had
different opinions about immigration. Matthew and Paul are two New Testament authors who each
discuss the topic of immigration in their writings. Matthew did so in the second chapter of his
Gospel, and Paul, in the thirteenth chapter of his letter to the Romans.
In the Gospel of Matthew, the author discusses the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. Some people
could argue that this story is an argument in favor of lenient immigration policies and
international laws, especially those regarding refugees and asylum. Matthew mentions the dream
that Joseph had about an angel of the Lord (Matthew 2:13) telling him to flee to Egypt with his
wife and their new baby because King Herod was searching for baby Jesus in order to kill him
since Herod did not want to believe that Jesus was the Messiah. This dream conversation is
important because part of the context of Matthew is trying to convince people that Jesus is the
Messiah.
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees defines a refugee as someone who has been forced to
flee his or her country because of persecution, war, or violence. (UNHCR) An asylum seeker,
according to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, is defined as a person who flees their

Media And Havens
Much change in the global media by means of mergers and increased concentration has resulted in
the limited diversity of content. In addition, the media consolidation does not only effect the
content but the ownership and employment opportunities. Winseck (2011) and Havens (2014), both
discuss the media mostly in the United States and other parts of the world; comparisons can be
drawn to relate to Canadian media. Different theories have been developed around the capitalistic
nature of the media corporation on the creativity and diversity of media (Havens, 2014). The
following will examine the current standings of the large media corporations in the United States
and other countries. In addition, the focus will be put upon the effects of consolidation... Show more

The corporations have the capacity to censor or alter important issues that go against their
political or ideological positions in the news and in other media outlets. Media can affect and
shape public views on numerous issues by leading them in a way that fits in with the views of
the organization. Since the media companies have consolidated individuals are less exposed to
outside views or particular viewpoints to issues. The current issue can fit within the realm of
propaganda, people watch and read what is available and intensely promoted (Chomsky Herman,
2002). If powerful corporations merge with others they are able to send out their own message
and as frequently as they would like. In the news, broadcasters can exaggerate what their own
points of views are on certain subjects to make individuals alter their own beliefs, as a result
(Chomsky Herman, 2002). However, we can also argue that with current technologies individuals
can go beyond the news to get their information by using the web for example. With the current
technologies, individuals can also verify is statements made by the media contain some truth.
What would be interesting to look at would be the racial and gender composition of media
corporations and its effect on the diversity of media. Furthermore, the analysis of media
consolidation proves to be beneficial in the eyes of capitalism.

How Does Kate Grenville’s Novel, the Secret River,...
How does Kate Grenville s novel, The Secret River, complicate simplistic views of the colonial
situation?
To some extent the past generations have been reared on a patriotic view of past Australian history,
interpreting its history as largely a success. Since history is determined by the perspective of from
which it is written, this version of Australian history, the Three Cheers view, was written from the
perspective of white working class males, who consider Australian pioneers to be the simple, honest
and humble people. Until recently, a rival interpretation, the Black Armband view, has assailed the
generally optimistic view of Australian history by construing the history of Australiaas a disgrace.
This second simplistic view ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Furthermore, Smasher is also guilty of the dehumanisation of an Aboriginal by creating a
scarecrow out of its body5, kidnapping and raping an Aboriginal woman6 and repeatedly
asserting that the Blacks deserve to die. Smasher 2appears in the novel to be a very hostile and
aggressive man who is not willing to even try to understand the Aboriginal culture, seeing himself
as superior and highly civilised. Because of his strong beliefs that the Aborigines are no more than
irritating savages, he frequently takes matters into his own hands by dealing with them violently
and quickly. By making it evident that Smasher s hatred and conflict towards the Aborigines was
not a result of fear or self defence, but an outcome from pure blind racism and malevolence,
Grenville suggests that some of the European settlers shared cruel, xenophobic personalities, which
reinforces the Black Armband view of Australian history.
In the novel, Grenville also creates another character who to a great extent juxtaposes the vision that
Smasher embodies. Thomas Blackwood, a fellow emancipist settler, out of all the characters in the
novel, is the one who shows utmost appreciation and knowledge of the Aborigines and their culture.

Defining Zero-Based Budgeting
ZERO BASED BUDGETING
What is Zero Based Budgeting?
Zero based budgeting is an innovative approach towards budgeting in corporations that is based on
the framing of assumptions about costs and benefits each time the budget is prepared. A budget is a
plan for the allocation of financial resources by an organization. Organizations possess finite
financial resources that managers allocate among various projects with the expectation that the
utilization of financial resources during the operation of these projects will enable the organization
to earn a targeted level of revenues or profits.
Like every plan, the budget is based on some assumptions about what the costs and revenues will
be affected by, and what the magnitude of these effects will be. These assumptions may change
each time a budget is made and thus may need to be incorporated in the new budget. As opposed to
the conventional form of budgeting which will be discussed later in this paper, zero based
budgeting does not assume that the assumptions made at the time of the last budget are still valid
in the present context. Therefore, the assumptions have to be developed again and justified before
senior management in order to win approval for the allocation of financial resources planned in the
budget (Prokopenko, 1987).
In revising the assumptions afresh, in zero based budgeting, the planner does not base his or her
estimates for the next year on the basis of the figures of the previous year. This is the historic

The Culture of Dominicans Essay
THE CULTURE OF THE DOMINICANS 2 . Culture is the thoughts, communications, actions,
beliefs, values, and institutions racial, ethnic, religious, or social groups (Jarvis, 2012, p 14).
Every culture has its own view/ understanding about health care, health and illnesses. Although
what might be seen as acceptable in one culture, may not be acceptable in another, regardless of
where you are health care and culture will always exist. My definition of culture is the way
someone lives his or her life in a daily basis; which includes things like the language one speaks in

The type of American food she prepares are ribs, rice, mashed potato and green salad, and
spaghetti. She usually eats breakfast between eight and nine in the morning, lunch between
eleven to one in the afternoon, dinner around five to seven in the evening, then super at nine at
night. In the Dominican culture, when it comes to illness and health, there is no real
explanation as to why people get sick. Some believe illness is caused by natural factors such as a
dysfunction in the body; others believe illness is due to supernatural causes such as punishment
from evil ancestral spirits or somebody sends the evil spirits after them to harm them. When
asked about views of health and illness, she stated that most Dominicans interpret health as being
up, active and not being in bed where one is unable to take care of his or her self. Many
Dominicans believe that if you are not in bed, therefore you are healthy. Many Dominicans
believe in folk practice to promote health, for example: a problems that are seen as natural and
spiritual are treated with prayer and ritual. Problems that are believed to be supernatural are treated
with the help of a witch, healer, or a voodoo priest. For instance, the Catholics practice Spiritism and
Santeria by praying the saints to grant them favors and heal them. Some may consult a healer who
usually enters in contact with the saint spiritually to ask the saints

Sketches By Boz – Passage.Charles Dickens’ Language In
Sketches by Boz Passage Charles Dickens language in the passage suggests gloominess the motif
of darkness is present throughout. The use of words, such as cold, solitary, lifeless gives the scene
a sense of degradation and morbidity. He does this in order to give his audience a sense of what it
would be like to live as a working class person at that time and thereby establish the atmosphere,
foreshadowing the expansion of the subject matter that Dickens held a vested interest in class. The
word solitary along with the others such as quiet and closely shut building , forms a semantic field
of abandonment and desolation through which Dickens accuses the Establishment (the

He voices his support for these side lined people of society by presenting their situation
euphemistically understating their circumstances via the word unfortunate . The sympathetic
tone in the word denies the idea that the poor are entirely at fault for their situation (which was a
widely held belief at the time of the Middle and Upper classes). Dickens purposefully emphasises
the idea of understanding and not the renunciation that was common. Having grown up in a
working class environment, he had first hand experience of the penury and hardship that they
endured. The rich and Middle Classes believed that the poor were at fault for their problems that
they did not follow the Christian way of life and deserved to be poor. Dickens was trying to
reverse this widespread opinion. Dickens presents the stigmatic problems of anything that could
be seen as un Christian , such as alcohol, prostitution, idleness , thereby vagrancy all often
classed as immorality , of which many are suggested in the passage and attributed to the poor.
But while doing this he also challenges the view that the poor are solely at fault; his blatantly
satirical description of the incompetency and idleness of the police, force who gaze listlessly is a
disdainful reveal of public attitudes towards them. This is perhaps a consequence of the low pay
in the profession s early days, where the passage is set. The police had been set up for some time
and were not yet considered

How Technology Affects the Business Environment
During the last century, the world has been through a technological revolution. We have in few
years moved from being a world where it could take months to receive a message, to being a world
where it takes microseconds. Within most industries, technology is a very important factor to
succeed. Especially in certain industries, like energy, transport and financial services, technological
innovations have been vital to make those industries develop into what they are today. Companies
are always struggling to acquire better technology, so that they in a more efficient way can produce
their products or carry out their services. It is therefore important for companies to keep an eye on
new technological innovations. The technological elements... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

An article made by naturalgas states that new innovations have reshaped the industry into a
technological leader9. A report made by the U.S. Department of energy in 1999 shows that if
technology had stagnated in 1985, America would have needed twice as many wells to produce
the same amount of oil and gas. However, because of technological improvement, we only need
half as many wells to produce the same amount in 1999. In 1999, the America used 22 000 less
wells to produce the same amount as they did in 1985.
A statistical review of world energy made by BP illustrates how much oil and natural gas that
has been produced in each country and worldwide from 1965 2010. Worldwide, the total
development of oil has increased from 31,806,000 barrels daily in 1965, to 82,095,000 barrels
daily in 2010. The development of oil has increased from 96,9 billion cubic feet daily in 1970, to
309 billion cubic feet daily in 2010. The main reason to the increase in production is off course
the growing demand, but according to naturalgas it would have been impossible without the
improvement in our technology. Consumption of oil increased from 30,783,000 daily in 1965 to
87,382,000 barrels daily in 2010 and consumption of gas increased from 63 billion cubic feet daily
in 1965 to 306,6 billion cubic feet daily in 2010.

Negative Consequences Of The Dust Bowl
I ve seen very often that some people seem to think their actions won t have any negative
consequences, or effect on anything around them. This can lead them to make decisions that have
can create major consequences for others and themselves, all for personal gain. This idea was
widely acted upon in the 1920 s, where so many people had not known that their actions would lead
to, creating The Great Depression. One of the more important Consequences was called the Dust
Bowl. The Dust Bowl was an event caused by the rise of farming in the 1920 s, which continues
to affect the way we grow our crops to this very day. The Dust Bowl was known as a large
section of the US that was covered in a large amount of powerful dust storms, which was caused
by over excessive farming during the 1920 s. Like many things during the time period, farming
had started to become more and more profitable. In fact, farming had been getting more
profitable since WW1. However, this caused people to become greedy. People would farm more
and more land each year, in an effort to produce better results. Farmers plowed away at field after
field, unaware that anything negative would occur from it. As said in the article The Dust Bowl
on USHistory.com, What was unknown to these early pioneers was that the grass and trees of the
plains essentially nourished and held the soil in place with their tough roots, (3). So when farmers
would plow the land, they were disturbing what was keeping all the land in

Each mitochondrion has a double layered membrane like the cell membrane, however the inner
layer is folder which produces shelves which are known as cristae, this is where the end stages
of glucose oxidation are located. The energy that has been released is stored until required by a
chemical battery called adenosine triphosphate. Endoplasmic reticulum: Endo means with in
and reticulum is a complex word meaning network. There are two variations to endoplasmic

Malvolio Dramatic Irony
Shakespeare presents Malvolio as behaving strangely and foolishly in act 3,scene 4 through his use
of dramatic irony, sexual jokes and visual comedy.
Shakespeare uses dramatic irony through this extract as the audience knows that Maria, Sir
Andrew and Sir Toby wrote the letter (supposedly from Olivia) to Malvolio but Malvolio s self love
and extreme self delusion make Malvolio completely ignorant to the trick.
Malvolio is behaving very strangely as he is usually very grave and wears all black. However, in
this seen he is so awoken by the idea that Olivia may grant him an advancement in social class
that he behaves like an utter fool, forgetting all his dignity, decency and good order. His
appearance in yellow and cross gartered stockings is utterly inappropriate especially as Olivia hates
the colour yellow. This makes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This line shows how Malvolio thinks he is much above Maria s social status as he considers her a
peasant and himself a noble man. This compels the audience o enjoy witnessing the downfall of
the supposed villain who has overstepped the bounds of his social position and attempted to
destroy the festive spirit of the foil characters: Maria, Sir Andrew and Sir Toby.
Shakespeare has portrayed Malvolio as a self absorbed fool to mock the Puritans, who hate the
theatre and therefore Shakespeare. As most of Shakespeare s audience would be anti Puritan as
they visit the theatre, this scene will allow them to laugh at there selfish and usually stern ways,
with no room to sympathise with Malvolio.

Pre Modern Era Research Paper
The pre modern era was a time when populations believed largely in God or god(s) and the
influence of the supernatural in human and cosmic activities. It was an era dominated by belief
and before scientific methods were discovered to find truth. The truths of god were majorly
communicated orally, which made it hard to filter falsehood from realities. In the pre modern era,
people didn t have answers on to why the universehappened and events happening, they needed an
explanation and over time oral communication grew expanding the knowledge of god(s) . In pre
modern I do not feel as though there was a major catalyst inclusive to this period, but the gradual
transition into humans inventing tools and exploring the scientific method that would

What Does Superwomen Mean
For boombox four, I decided to choose the song Superwomen. The song Superwomen by Alicia
Keys addresses the theme of women and femininity and thus helps us better understand The
Complete Persepolis because it too explorers the theme of feminism.
Marjane Satrapi s journey through different transitions phrases in life lead her to who she is. The
Complete Persepolis focuses on women and the different roles that they play. Women in Iranare
expected to portray themselves in a certain way. They are supposed to look, behavior and dress a
certain way. Women do not stand up for issues and have minimal rights.
The lyrics to the song are:
Everywhere I m turning
Nothing seems complete
I stand up and I m searching For the better part of me I hang

My High Training Approach
I venture up to my starting mark palms sweating, heart pounding. Three deep breaths followed
by a few warm up tuck jumps. Following my routine warmup, I begin the highly technical ten
step approach to ensure the correct take off position. From here I let my pliable body take over
to be able to arch my back over a bar. High jumping during track is where I understood that my
capabilities as a human being are unlimited. Track, being an outdoor sport, forces me to bear a
multitude of temperatures and conditions. Some days, the air is unbelievably hot and muggy and
surviving practice feels like an unattainable objective. Other days the cold strips my throat bleak.
Thanks to Wisconsin s unpredictable temperature, rain, snowflurries, and heat waves can occur
within one practice. If I learned anything from practicing under unpleasant conditions, it is that
regardless how abhorrent the climate is or how arduous the workout is, these obstacles can be
overcome. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Thesis About Snow Treasure
Have you ever thought about your country having a war with other country?? Snow Treasure by
Marie McSwigan is a sad and memorable story of children carrying gold in Norway(Norway is
their country) and adults fighting with Germans. This story is important to people who think war
is nothing. Because in this story, they show how they are having a hard time during the war. I
really admire character Jan Lasek, who is a Pole but he was once German solider. Then you ll ask
me why. Because he risked his life to save Peter from German army.
This story takes place in Norway during a war with Germans. The protagonist is Peter, a brave
young boy about ten years old. He leads children to carry a gold in Norway to Uncle Victor,
because Uncle Victor should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s important because it shows how much hard time they are having during the war and it
teaches you how people get hurt by war. In the war between Norway and German, children
always have to pull gold on the sled because Germans can take them. They carry more than
100kg. It will be really hard. And by hurting, sure it can be like shooting gun hurting, but if our
heart hurts, it really hurts. Like with war, when people pass away, think about it. How will their
family feel?? Really, really sad. So I think like war, we shouldn t make it happen.
I was able to identify with Peter who was afraid at first to be the leader but later on he did a great
job. I strongly recommend this book because it is touching and it shows how children has done a
great job, with very responsible actions. I was very moved with Jan Lasek because even if he
can die, he risked his life for Peter. How touching and amazing is that?? I think I can t have done
it. I was inspired with Uncle Victor s idea. If children is around, who would think they are
carrying a gold?? It was a great idea. It taught me that if we really want something, they risk their
lifes to. Like for example, if my mother is sick, than I ll do anything to fix it. Won t you?
It s a interesting story. It really made me sweat some times. And you ll be moved with what Jan
Lasek has done for Peter. I really loved this book. I recommend to all my

When We Judge Another We Define Our Self A family member once told me never judge a
book by its cover. If you open the book and see what is inside instead of overlooking it, you
might find it interesting after all. This quote by my family member can easily be tied to The Myth
of the Latin Women: I just met a Girl Named Maria by Judith Ortiz Cofer, and Just walk on By:
Black Men and Public Spaces by Brent Staples. Cofer, talks about how she was stereotyped for
being a Latin woman in American culture. Then Staples, talks about how he was discriminated
for being a tall, black man that worked as a journalist in a predominantly white field. Both of
these authors, were being put in categories based on their appearance. People assumed they were
a certain way because she was Hispanic and because he was African American. Modern society is
quick to judge people based on their appearance; mainly on attributes of race and gender, eventually
affecting the person s outlook on life. People can often be treated and judged in a less than an
equal manner. Before they even get to know the true nature of a person, they are judged based
on race. Additionally, a female may be overlooked for a certain job and the job is then given to a
male counterpart, based solely on gender. Lastly, people will see the world in a different
perspective because of the exposure of stereotypes. Being judgmental towards ethnicity and gender
will keep us

Analysis Of The Killer Angels By Shaara
War is a complex event. Many different aspect go into the complicated planning of a war from
amount of troops or supplies, layout of land and more. The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara
gives a unquestionable vivid image of the Battle of Gettysburg. In this novel it took place in the
span of three days and gives us the points of views from both the Union and Confederate armies.
Mr. Shaara s historical accuracy is spot on from the innermost thoughts of the characters to the

The book was historically accurate in all perspectives. This is shown from the location,
characters and the thoughts of them. One thing that was a big part of the entire battle was
loyalty. In many parts of the book loyalty is shown from the generals and commanders. For
example even though Longstreet did not agree with the decisions of Lee he still stayed loyal to
his commander and they army by going in with the plan. Shaara captured the essence of the battle
that I ve never seen before. Honor without intelligence is a disaster. Honor could lose the war.

Wyatt Earp Research Paper
If I had the chance to talk to someone for thirty minutes, I would choose Wyatt Earp. Earp was a
known as the biggest and best law enforcement officer during the late 1800 s early 1900 s.
Everywhere that Wyatt went, people knew about him. Wyatt Earp helped protect many people
during his life, and did not show fear to anyone. I admire Earp because of his bravery to protect
the people he loved and fulfilled his duty to his fullest potential. Even though Wyatt s familytold
him not to serve in law, he felt it was his duty and kept the people in Western America safe.
Talking to Wyatt Earp would be a dream of mine because he has been an inspiration of mine for

Marx, Mill And Freud s Critique Of Political Economy And...
Describe and assess the explicit (and sometimes merely implicit) notions of freedom and
unfreedom we find in the texts we have read by Marx, Mill and Freud. Use the esoteric traditions
we have examined thus far (from the Book of Job to Plato) as a comparative yardstick, or point of
reference, but without letting them take over the foreground in your paper the latter should be
reserved for these three figures. Karl Marx, Sigmund Freud, and John Stuart Mill are three authors
who tackle the topic of freedom in unique ways, but their messages are fundamentally the same and
continue the ideas that we encountered in the esoteric texts as well as in The Matrix: . First, we
have Karl Marx s Capital: Critique of Political Economy and The Communist Manifesto, where we
encounter the proletariat, or the working class people regarded collectively. In these two texts, the
latter of which was co authored by Frederick Engels, we learn that the proletariat is enslaved just
like the people in the matrix. And just like the people in the matrix, the proletariat is oblivious to
this limit on its freedom. That is why in Karl Marx s view, unfreedom is what we are living in now.
According to him, many people think that abolishing private property through communismis what
will infringe on our freedom, but that is not the case. Specifically, in The Communist Manifesto
Marx states, You are horrified at our intending to do away with private property. But in your
existing society, private

Patriot Missile Crisis
Intro Ballistic missile defense became a necessity after World War II when Germany developed
and launched several missiles at targets around Europe. During the Cold War, the United States
and Russia began developing technologies to build and use long range missiles at a moment s
notice. Before the Gulf War and Desert Storm there were no systems to defend against theater
ballistic missiles or TBM s. The Patriot missile system had been developed in the 1970 s to
counter threats from enemy aircrafts. Shortly before the Gulf War, testing and production of the
first PAC1 missiles had begun to be used against Short range missiles. The use of the Patriot
system had a huge impact to the success of the Gulf War and Desert Storm by defending US and
coalition assets in Saudi Arabia and Israel from Scud Missile attacks by Iraqi Forces. Before
World War II a German engineer, Wernher von Braun, had begun working on rocket designs that
eventually led to the development and launch of over 3000... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Mercantilism And The Industrial Revolution
The time period of the mercantilist theory of economics, was a time of slavery and effective ways
to maximize profit margins. Colonies soon learned that forced labor could help create a strong
colonization that could one day control the world and this all occurred when the small snow ball,
also known as the transatlantic slave trade, grew into what we study in school as slavery.
At the heart of mercantilism is the view that maximising net exports is the best route to national
prosperity. Boiled to its essence mercantilism is bullionism : the idea that the only true measure of
a country s wealth and success was the amount of gold that it had. If one country had more gold
than another, it was necessarily better off. This idea had important... Show more content on

first understand that they are human and equal in every regard and then deny them that. This also
brings about a discussion of of how different is American slavery, from slavery in earlier societies.
American slavery was more permanent. It was a social status more than anything, that was
inherited and that could only be escaped through great luck or great determination. Even when
escaped into a region of where slavery wasn t allowed, they were still outcasts. Slavery in the
Roman era was more fluid. A slave could become a freeman without enormous social stigma
sticking to either him or his offspring. Also, a very well educated, unique or useful slave could
have significant social status despite being different . Also, American slavery was heavily tied to
race whereas previous episodes of slavery were

INDUSTRIAL STUDIES ASSIGNMENT NO 1 Development of Engineering since the Industrial
Revolution The Main Outcomes of the Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution had a huge
impact on society. The major effects were socially and economically. It is rather difficult to date the
start of the industrial revolution but history books of today suggest the onset during the 18th
century. The change from agriculture to industry was vast and it must be remembered that England
was the first country to undergo this profound change. The initial effect on engineering industries
arising at the start of the Industrial Revolution were due partly to the geographical location of the

The manufacture of bicycles, aircraft, and most predominantly the motor car increased with the
utilisation of all forms of electrically powered machines. There were also increases in all forms
of electrical engineering from light bulbs and radios to generating plant and machinery. Natural
Resources e.g. Coal Petrochemicals The British coal industry was the major contributor to the
Industrial Revolution. The industry utilised the first steam powered engines of Newcommen
and many more that followed. As production grew from these applications the new railways were
used to transport the vast amounts of coal being produced. In 1830 steam power could wind
men and coal up and down a few hundred feet. By the 1860s there were pithead engines of 1500
hp. For 100 years from 1850 coal made up more than half of the railways freight. In 1913 one out
of every 14 British workers was employed at a coalmine. In the same year there were 3,289 pits.
Coal was used to power the giant iron works and the textile industry. The gasworks of the early
1800s were burning thousands of tons per year. The coal used in these gasworks was roasted and
this resulted in coke as a waste product. This coke was then sold on to the ironworks. In the 1860s
British engineers were still improving the steam engine. But there French and German counterparts
were short of steam coal so they turned there attention to gas. A

Summary Of Margaret Atwood s The Journals Of Susanna Moodie
In Margaret Atwood s book of poetry, The Journals of Susanna Moodie she dives into the
psychological dimension of the immigrant experience in Canada through the eyes of the persona,
Susanna Moodie. Susanna Moodie is used as the persona to demonstrate her gradual growth and
development as a person from a land of civilization to a person accepting a land of wilderness, to
explore how nature can force even those most stubborn to change. Margaret Atwoodbegins Moodie
s story with Disembarking at Quebec where the audience is able to see the her total alienation of
the land and isolation of her surroundings is self constructed. In this poem, Susanna Moodie is
just arriving to Canada yet she already has fixed thoughts and grows a hatred for the country.
She speaks of the landscape of nature The glare of sun , The moon alien , The rocks ignore
because it is all so foreign to her sensibility making her feel as she is a word in a foreign
language . For her the transition is difficult as she is an individual who has grown to live by
language of order and is now being forced into a language of wilderness. Margret Atwood
compiled 2 separate fire events Moodie endured in her life and in doing so utilized imagery to
exhibit her psychological exploration in coming to terms with the new land. Atwood shows the
significant differences between the two fires while still connecting them using key image elements
of light, darkness and trees. In both instances the trees are seen

Helena Maria Viramontes s Under The Feet Of Jesus
The excerpt from the novel Under the feet of Jesus, by Helena Maria Viramontes, shows the
development of Estrella from being angry to understanding what she needed to accomplish to
succeed. Viramontes uses figurative language, selection of detail, and tone to show the changes
Estrella s character goes through to figure out how beneficial it is to know what the letters in the

Viramontes uses figurative language like similes and metaphors to show Estrella s frustration with

Estrella s confusion of the tools in the tool chest to her understanding of the alphabet that confused

The Plan For Aviation And Aerospace Industry
Describing the blueprint of a particular aviation career
Background
The aviation and aerospace is one promising front in terms of careers and opportunities. Just like
any industries in the 21st Century, aviation and aerospace industry is a complex one that requires
skilled labor in all of its ranks. The demand for the various job positions in the industry is
motivated by both inadequate skilled personnel and the rapidly increasing demand for the airline
transport. From the beginning, aviation opportunities were believed to be only piloting,

Finally, one needs to master their passion and to question the purposes for the career choice.
With the opportunities in the aviation industry in the open, it serves as a wakeup call for
individuals to pursue career choices that are aligned to aviation and aerospace industry. Among all
the choices in this industry, I particularly will single out one part of aviation system: the airline
ground staff, most specifically, the air traffic controller.
The air traffic controller job
Air traffic controllers are one of the most important airline ground staff members, tasked with the
role of keeping airlines separated when flying under instrument flight rules (Outlook, 2015). With
the changes taking place in the air traffic control all the time, this front is believed to be one of the
most lucrative job opportunities in the near future. It is a well paid career with a minimum
requirement of a standard four year degree qualification.
The entry requirements for this post would have varied details between airline companies but the
standard requirements are minimum distinction in secondary school certificate, with as in Math
and English as well as eligibility to work in the country that hosts the airline company. In most
cases, the respective airline companies provide training and certification programs for these
positions.

Student Loans And Student Loan Debt
Samantha Hillstrom, a CNN production assistant, is living out her lifelong dream in television.
Unfortunately, at a staggering $1,200 per month in student loan repayment debt partly because she

leave borrowers distraught at the mere thought of the unrealistic terms (Hillstrom 55). All students
entering college need to be aware of student loans and how they impact the future; either negatively
or positively.
For some students, a college degree is the key to success but for others the completion of formal
education also introduces a huge burden. Many students desire higher education but increasing
enrollment rates have driven up the cost of college tuition and fees; therefore, forcing some students
to offset the cost with student loans whereas the loans are often accompanied by debt ( A College 6).
Student loans generate an average debt of twenty thousand dollars per student inevitably student
loans are necessary for two thirds of all students. (Collinge 76). Per data from the College Board,
the repayment of student loans becomes a challenge for some borrowers, especially students who
do not complete the program and those students who sought a less than marketable degree ( A

A Courageous Mother At Gallipoli
On April 6th 2014 in the New Zealand Herald a story titled A courageous mother at Gallipoli was
published. The story is about Mary and Doug Hill, whose names were drawn out of a ballot to
attend the prestigious Anzac Day ceremony in Gallipoli to mark 100 years since the Gallipoli
landing. The article was also about Catherine O Donnell, Doug Hill s great grandmother, who was
the first mother of a New Zealandsoldier to travel to Gallipolito visit her son s grave, who had been
killed during battle. Along with the article is three secondary images and one primary image
which is on the first page of the two page article. In this essay I will use the techniques of semiotics
to analyse the images and the article. Semiotics is described as a system used for analysing how all
sign systems work (O Shaughnessy, Stadler 2012, p. 131). In regards to the article and the images
of A courageous mother at Gallipoli the semiotic analysis will look at the representation of
photojournalism, the historic and social values and our cultural identity, the denotative and
connotative meanings of the image, and the signifier and signs.
Representation and the critique of ideology apply to photojournalism because a photo does not
exist in isolation. This means that a photo always has more meaning than what is shown. A camera
only captures what is in front of the lens, not around or behind it, therefore there is always more to
the story than one image can portray. A photo also has different

greenhouse gas emissions, and have a source of fuel coming from agriculture as a alternative outlet
for agricultural producers, ethanolproduction became an important and endorsed industrial process
(Mussatto et al., 2010).
Historically, Brazil was a example of country that started with a government program called Pro
ГЎlcool in 1975 to increase the production of ethanol, aimed to replacing the use of gasoline,
reducing oil imports at a moment that the crise of oil increased the price this combustible (Martines
Filho et al., 2006).
Sugarcane is an important tropical plant that is produced in Brazil. This forage is included in the
family of Poaceae, the same family of corn, wheat, rice and sorghum. Sugarcane is originally from
Southeast Asia and was introduced to Brazil in the 16th century, when Brazil was a Portuguese
colony. Using this raw material Brazil is the large producer of sugar and the second large producer
of ethanol.
Brazil has the largest market of biofuel using sugarcane as raw material, making this biofuel a
import renewable fuel with cost competitive to replace the petroleum fuel for transport. Producing
almost the same amount in 2005, Brazil use less than half of the area to cultivate the crop to
produce ethanol than United States, wich use mainly corn as raw

Stalin s Power Of The Communist Party Essay
How was Stalin able to assume control of the Communist Party by 1929?
The assumption of power by Joseph Stalin was arguably one of the most significant periods of
Bolshevik Russia s history. Stalin is recognised as one of the most influential men to have ever
lead Russia, and he did so through the largest war the world has ever faced, World War II, and
through the beginning of one of the most tense periods of modern history, the Cold War. It is easy
however, to get lost in the legacy Stalin left behind, and forget about the events leading up to his
total control over the communist regime of the 20th century Russia.
During his reign as the near absolute ruler of the Soviet Union, Stalin incited a plethora of
atrocities, notably the manufactured famines, purges, and labour camp imprisonments. Stalin was
able to be the primary blame for the death of an estimated 20 60 million people, with nearly no
regard for human life. (Ghosh, 2013)
Throughout his journey to power, Stalin faced several blockades and proved his leadership worthy
by defeating them and coming out a stronger politician. Examples like Vladimir Lenin s dying
testament to the Communist Party, and the turmoiled years of the struggle for power in the
Politburo, are all examples of which Stalin has bested his opponents. An abundance of evidence in
both the life and times of Joseph Stalin, and a hundred years of speculation of the USSR, should
lead for an interesting debate with multiple perspectives. Ultimately, by

History of British Literature
Late Medieval Period 14th Century British Literature
14th and 15th were period of transition from feudalism to pre industrial era. A time of political,
social and ideological conflicts;
England was in war with France (the hundred year war 1337 1453 Edward s claim to the French
throne and attempt to bring England, Gascony and Flanders under unified political control). The
defeats in France lead to deepening the internal crisis. The decline in agriculture together with the
rise in the population resulted in frequent famines and helped the spread during the 14th c. of the
Black Death . 1381 The Peasants Revolt.

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, by the same anonymous author, is also of high literary
sophistication, and its intelligence, vividness, and symbolic interest render it possibly the finest
Arthurian poem in English. Other important alliterative poems are the moral allegory Piers
Plowman, attributed to William Langland, and the alliterative Morte Arthur, which, like nearly all
English poetry until the mid 14th cent., was anonymous.
The works of Geoffrey Chaucer mark the brilliant culmination of Middle English literature. Chaucer
s The Canterbury Tales are stories told each other by pilgrimsВ–who comprise a very colorful cross
section of 14th century English societyВ–on their way to the shrine at Canterbury. The tales are
cast into many different verse forms and genres and collectively explore virtually every significant
medieval theme. Chaucer s wise and humane work also illuminates the full scope of medieval
thought. Overshadowed by Chaucer but of some note are the works of John Gower.
The Fifteenth Century:
The 15th cent. is not distinguished in English letters, due in part to the social dislocation caused by
the prolonged Wars of the Roses. Of the many 15th century imitators of Chaucer the best known are
John Lydgate and Thomas Hoccleve. Other poets of the time include Stephen Hawes and Alexander
Barclay and the Scots poets William Dunbar, Robert Henryson, and Gawin Douglas. The poetry of
John Skelton, which is mostly satiric, combines medieval and

Wallis Essay Compared To Turkle Summary
The gravity of the issue is certainly more pronounced in Wallis essay compared to Turkle s. She
begins by providing the reader with several scenarios that are likely to play out in the average
American household. Each of the twins is in their own world as they veraciously absorb the
stimulus coming from their computers, phones and tablets. They are supposed to be finishing
homework but even a task with this much importance falls to the wayside. It suddenly becomes
apparent that these kids are addicted to their devices, something that has become all too common in
many of our own homes. The term multi tasker was once used to define a person who could do
many things at one time successfully. However, Wallis explains that this is nearly impossible.

Examples Of Falsity In Fyodor Dostoevsky s Notes From...
PART 1: UNDERSTANDING THE UNDERGROUND MAN Falsity is defined by the online
Oxford dictionary as the fact of being untrue, incorrect, or insincere . In the novel Notes from
Underground, Fyodor Dostoevsky highlights the falsity, or artificiality of not only Russian
individuals, but of Russian culture as a whole. The novel describes falsity as people who are
superficial and shallow. While the main character, the Underground Man, did not consider himself
a slave to the falsity, he observed it in others he came into contact with. A good example of this is
when the Underground Man went to dinner with his friends (they were hardly so). At this dinner,
he mentions how the individuals are good looking on the outside but rather unintelligent on the
inside. At one point, he even says that one of them has a handsome but silly face (Dostoevsky),
thus indicating that on the outside, his face was handsome but at the same time he was also silly ,
or foolish and shallow. They were not who the portrayed themselves to be.... Show more content on

In his younger years, he tried to interact with these false people, but it in fact drove him mad, and
as a result he went underground. On page XX, the Underground man explains that: ... ingenuous
people and active figures are all active simply because they are dull and narrow minded. How to
explain it? Here s how: as a consequence of their narrow mindedness, they take the most immediate
and secondary causes for the primary ones, and thus become convinced more quickly and easily
than others that they have found an indisputable basis for their doings, and so they feel at ease; and
that, after all, is the main thing

interests. When you create a profile on Facebook, you will have a timeline that becomes a
chronology of your life. It is a place where you can place your posts, photos, likes, dislikes, and
you can update this on a daily or by the moment s notice. It is important to remember that
everything you do on Facebook becomes visible for the entire world to see. We must keep in

Facebook does have privacy settings available for us to use, however it is a good rule to follow
that there are no secrets. We must post with caution and be responsible while using this social

positive and negative results. I promote a music business through Facebook and I have

Reflective Reflection
The British Association of Occupational Therapists (2007) states that reflective practice is
fundamental in continuing professional development (CPD) in order to keep skills and
knowledge up to date and to practice effectively, safely and legally (Health and Care Professions
Council, 2012). Reflection is vital for all healthcare students in order to establish links between
theory and practice (Jasper, 2013), that will help increase clinical reasoning and enhance
professional practice (Rigby et al., 2012). Using models of reflective thinking makes sure that
reflectionsare meaningful to our personal CPD (Armitage et al., 2012).
Models of reflective thinking are designed to aid us reflectively. Each models varies in how much
information, description, evaluation and critical analysis are needed. The most commonly used
models in healthcare are; Gibbs, Kolb and Borton. In order to choose a reflective model an
individual must firstly know what they want to achieve and how in depth they want to go with their
reflection (Jasper, 2013).
For this reflection I have chosen Gibbs (1988) model to help me understand my role, actions and
behaviours throughout my group work sessions with my Personal Professional Development
(PPD) group and explore and evaluate the interactions with the multi disciplinary team (MDT)
during the research of a patient care pathway. The reasons for choosing Gibbs model is that it is
clear and precise which allows for description, analysis and evaluation

Horror Versus Terror
Before beginning my argument and analysis, it is first necessary to discuss some of the basic
contrasting features of the concepts of horror versus terror, beginning with the concept as outlined
by Paul Wells. On this distinction, and first referring to terror, he writes terror stimulates the desire
to actively come to terms with shock; to enjoy its provocation and understand its effect. [...]
Horror, however, has only a negative and paralysing effect; a wholly nihilistic and enduring
condition of death and oppression (Wells 11). Our class lecture from March 8th clarified, largely
encompassing the definition provided by Wells, that terror is a reactionary, automatic response to
an external threat in which the fearis immediate and involves... Show more content on

We also went over how horror involves the realization that evil exists in the world, but is largely
not something that can be seen in the world, only in one s own mind, and that while terror and
horror coexist, horror can never come before an interrelated experience of terror, but terror can
inspire later horror, though not simultaneously as there must be some separation in time (Wynter 8
March; Wells 11 13). We learned that horror requires thought, memory, and imagination and that it
must be separated by time from whatever experience or event inspired it, even if that event was
terror, in our lecture on March 8th, and in a lecture on April 5th we connected the immediate fear
of terror and the more prolonged and building experience of horror to common themes and tropes
used in many, if not almost all horror films today, which involves the overall change in, and
usually tightening, of space in order to elicit horror, and the growing distance in time that builds
the experience of horror (Wynter 8 March, 5 April; Wells

Business And Limited Liability Company
Business can be run through different platform considering advantages the platform will offer.
Limited liability Company is chosen over general partnership to be more advantageous. Limited
Liability Company and general partnership are compared based on flexibility of business,
continuity of business in case of transfer of ownership, and also the risk of possession of
personal assets and risk of incurring business debt. 1.0INTRODUCTION New business with
more than single owner may consider being Limited Liability Company or general partnership.
General partnership requires two or more people to agree to own and run a company for profit
where management duties are shared among them including profits and loss. In contrast, a single
member can own, manage and operate Limited Liability Company. A limited liability company
with single owner can easily set up business strategies and guidelines without getting approval
from anybody. General partnerships are not mandated to be registered with Registrar of companies.
Partners are expected to disclose information to one another according to The Partnership act 1890
which applies to general partnership. Limited Liability Company is treated as a separate legal
entity according to companies Act 1985. General partnership are formed when the partners begin
business activities and not formed by state

Fantine And Cosette
Though Jean valjean struggles and conflicts only got more strenuous, he still continued, if not to an
even greater extent, his selfless devotion to the ill fated members of society. The exemplary
heroism, compassion, and love of Jean Valjean s character was further deepened through the
meeting of Cosette and Fantine. The mother and daughter both express a cry for help, a call which
although difficult to answer, was dutifully plowed after by Jean Valjean.
Fantine is a reflection of the horrific outcome of French society. Exploited by the thenardiers,
and undoubtedly naive to the intentions of others, she is the weak prey oblivious of her
predators. Jean Valjean steps into her life, and by doing so, he cultivates a strong empathy for
her situation, one which is quite familiar to himself. Fantine causes Jean Valjean to look back at
the character of his darkest days, and thus, make a decision to firmly not revert back to his old
ways. In fact, she is the embodiment of a part of a debt to society he must pay, and so Jean
Valjean is determined to help Fantine in any way he can. Likewise, he pursues the recovery of her
daughter Cosette in order to achieve completion of her final wish. Fantine impacts Jean Valjean by
acting like a mirror for his personal flaws, and continued to spark the seemingly never ending
selfless drive to make up for them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Effects Of AIDS And The Media On The Gay Liberation...
The Effects of AIDS and the Media on the Gay Liberation Movement: The Constitution promises
liberty for all, regardless of one s sexual orientation. However, throughout courses of history in
America, homosexuals have lived in a conformist climate, and they have experienced various levels
of discrimination. Despite this, America also provided homosexuals with the power to fight their
oppressors, thus the Gay Liberation Movement. This movement was not one of linear pattern,
especially because of the effects of AIDS and the media. As a result of pre existing discrimination
and the stereotyping of homosexuals, the media and the public stigmatized AIDS, which
temporarily halted the progress of the Gay Liberation Movement; however, after the devastating
effects of the AIDS epidemic, the movement advanced as the media shifted the discussion of AIDS
and allowed for homosexuals to fight for proper treatment, research, and rights. Due to a conformist
society in which homosexuals felt oppressed by conservative views, homosexuals were
discriminated against and ridiculed, causing interruptions in the movement and a difficulty
advocating for their rights. Due to homosexuals lack of conformity to societal norms, many
believed homosexuals were not normal and needed to be fixed . So, doctors and psychiatrists used
electrical shock treatment; when homosexuals protested this and disrupted the psychiatrist parley,
their defense was that unhappy homosexuals came to them and requested

The Role of Federal Agencies in Fighting Digital Crime Essay
Explain the existing challenges that result from the independent nature of these agencies, as well as
the other factors that are common to each of them. In the United States, local, state, and federal law
enforcement agencies, including FBI, Department of Homeland Security, among others, have taken
on roles to fight computer crimes and terrorism. The roles and responses of these law enforcement
agencies concerning digital crime have created challenges that limit enforcement efforts against
digital crime. The Department Of Justice has had to address evolving challenges such as mortgage

In April 2011, GAO, Government Accountability Office, reported that backlogs in the forensic
analysis of digital evidence can delay or hinder online child pornography investigations. Among
factors that federal law enforcement officials cited as limiting investigations and prosecutions
were variations in the steps that agencies believe enhance the integrity of forensic analysis of
digital evidence. In some cases, these steps may increase the time it takes to analyze evidence and
add to backlogs and delays. (GAO High Risk Other Major Government Challenges Balancing
Fighting Crime Versus Terrorism) State and local law enforcement agencies face several
challenges including the lack of resources, expertise, training, and funding to solve cyber crime. Of
these problems, are the growing concerns of the local and state officials about the threats made
relating to the protection of computer infrastructures at the federal level. Local officers are not
having the capacity or understanding of computer crimes necessary to properly investigate offenses
such as computer and electric crimes and fraud and theft crimes by digital technology. (Taylor,
2011) Having education and appropriate training is crucial in the investigation process to gain an
upper hand in fighting digital crime. In addition, state and local law enforcement expressed
concerns about resource constraints and apprehension regarding expertise and jurisdictional

The During The Elizabethan Era Essay
The Elizabethan theater became a central part of social life in Shakespeare s time and was a form
of entertainment that took people s minds off the daily hardships during the Elizabethan era. The
Elizabethan era is known for its English nationalism and advancements of arts during the English
Renaissance. Because of this, the Elizabethan erais considered to be the height of the English
Renaissance.
England s working class had a difficult life. Powerful lords owned and governed local districts
that were usually made up of a few hundred peasants. Nearly 95 percent of England s population
lived in these types of districts. Almost all of the labor was performed by the peasant farmers.
They farmed about one third of the land for the local lord, a portion for the local church, and the
rest for their own usage. They typically worked from sunup to sundown and their daily lives
were regulated by the different growing seasons. They rarely traveled beyond their own village.
The sick and elderly relied greatly on the kindness of their local lord for survival. The death rate
was high and life expectancy was low because of frequent outbreaks of the plague. The life of a
peasant was usually fairly stable but there was almost no chance of escaping the rut of belonging to
this class of people from one generation to the next.
Elizabethan entertainment was important to people who lived in the Elizabethan era. People used
forms of Elizabethan entertainment whenever there was something to

  • 2. Essay about The music industry-globalizing in many ways Edi K. THE MUSIC INDUSTRY GLOBALIZING IN MANY WAYS The music industry is in a time of growth at this very moment. The environment for its growth has been increasing rapidly on many geographical boundaries and has been established through information technology and Internet. In this paper I will analyze how the music industry not only has been affected by Globalization as an economic institution but also that it has become a worldwide globalized commodity. First, I will begin by analyzing how the music industry, though its consumption is not a necessity, it is affected by large economic factors and has become a large Music Market. Furthermore I will analyze how the music market has globalizing tendencies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... International Survey Of Music Publishing Revenues. New York: NMPA.) • 3. Snowball from Animal Farm and Leon Trotsky s Roles in the... My Research Question: How was the affect of Leon Trotsky and Snowball? Throughout time, people learned about history from books, websites, articles, and magazines to gain their understandings of History. Leon Trotsky played an important role in the Russian Revolution and so did the character of Snowball from the novel Animal Farm. Their life actions had a positive affect towards history even though their goals were never accomplished. Leon Trotsky Leon Trotsky was the chairman of the Military Revolutionary Committee of the Petrograd Soviet. The organization was that, under Lenin s direction, that shown the overthrow of the state which is called or known The October Revolution Since the Revolt is originated into Civil War, It was a... Snowball believes in a sustained revolution: He claims that in demand to support and defend Animal Farm and toughen the certainty of Old Major s dream of a life without humans, mixt up rebellions in other farms throughout England. Napoleon always disagrees with Snowball s ideas because he doesn t want him to lead Animal Farm. Snowball is eventually forced out of the farm when Napoleon uses his guard dogs to attack Snowball. After that, he is blamed for issues of the farm, and it is claimed that he was in support of Mr. Jones at the beginning. Even though he fought for Mr. Jones and the shorts offends are distorted to wounds Napoleon perpetrated on him, those faulted of associating him are achieved after being required to profess, or declare, and a compensation is proposed for his capture. Snowball is a very imaginative and knowing pig that manipulated others to his side. It is never revealed of what has happened to him after he escaped, although in the 1950s film adaptation it is implied that the dogs killed him. Nevertheless, he is shown escaping the dogs and surviving in the 1999 live action film adaptation. How does Snowball relate to Leon Trotsky? Built on Leon Trotsky, Snowball is one if the 2 pigs who develop as leaders of the animals after Old Major dies. • 4. Impact Of A Baby On Teenage Mothers Becoming a mother changes a woman s life forever, as you now have a child who depends on you for love and for a stable environment. Being a teenage mother is even more hard work, as a lot of the time the young girls have not even grown up themselves. Today I will be exploring the impact bringing a baby into the world has on a teenager s life. As part of this research, a survey was conducted in order to find out first hand the impact becoming a motherhad on a group of teenage girls. FINANCIAL IMPACT Money is one of the biggest impacts on teenage pregnancy. The cost to prepare for a baby (cot, change table, pram, clothes, nappies etc.) and prenatal care as well as the other expenses involved in bringing up a child can pose vast financial hardships for teenage mothers. Often girls are forced to drop out of school in order to work so they can provide for their baby, but can find it difficult to find decent jobs since they did not complete their schooling. A high percentage of teen parents have to rely on welfare payments to support their families, but these payments are often barley enough to survive on (Home Remedies for you, 2017). Some teenage mothers even rely on their parents to help financially support them, which can make them feel guilty for having to rely on their parents. In worse case scenarios, some teenage mothers may find it difficult to even provide the proper nutrition and care for their babies (Kamalasanan, 2012). In the survey conducted, many girls ... Socks leveled the knee with an affixed tassel. Robbed in custom made cloaks and capes that drape the body, men s fashion marked a powerful statement. Designed differently quickly identified position, kings, lords, nobles, knights and peasants. Nonetheless, clothing was warm and comfortable and always suited for battle. It appears the fashion design switched because currently lady s garments resemble the men of the medieval era. Yet during that period, lady s gothic robes swept the floor surrounded with a matching scarf and cape. The chosen cloth, whether for men or women, usually radiant in color, portrayed the crafty work prepared by selected seamstress (Bednarz, Miyares, Schug, amp; White, 2006). My love, words are too vague to put into picture the beauty of these incredible clothing. Just like the clothing, the characteristics of military during the Battle of Hastings, differed from current warfare. Soldiers dressed in heavy attire such as chains, helmets, and plated armor. This warfare excluded guns such as AK47 assault rifles and shot guns; after all, these inventions waited discovery. Even gun power evaded battle as it too had not surfaced the scene. (Bednarz et al, (2006) found that soldiers exercise care when using axes, bows, daggers, knives, and swords that displayed crafty skills. Some of these weapons reminded you of the Musketeers as seen on television.

The theme of gender roles is very prominent in The Lady of Shalott by Alfred Lord Tennyson. Gender roles are also very noticeable in Jane Eyre by Charlotte BrontГ«. In Alfred Lord Tennyson s The Lady of Shalott, the theme of gender role is obvious. The Lady of Shalott is stuck in a tower and has been there for a long time. She feels alone and isolated while she watched the world around her. This poem shows how women may have felt trapped in relationships. My Unknown Colonies Unknown #3 Report To start off unknown #3, I picked out O17 from rack A and wrote down my name, date, class, and I first noticed the broth was a light yellow that was quite cloudy or milky. Soon later I streaked my organism onto a TSA plate and incubated it at 37oC for 24 hours, t was almost a perfect plate. There was no contamination; I could tell it there was only one species on the plate and that it was okay for me to move on. There were many isolated colonies in quadrants 3 and 4. The colonies were small and white in color, it was not translucent. I then began to make my 2 slants, inoculating a straight line on each slant, I incubated it at 37oC for 24 hours. The next day, I made sure my slants were pure and also there was a thick line of organism where I had inoculated with a yellow white color. Now I was ready to begin making my slides and start staining. I used E. Coli and S. Aureus next to my unknown to help me... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this point, only one organism matched every result that I received during all my tests, I decided to do my confirmation test. I did Methyl Red and Voges Proskauer tests for my confirmation test. After inoculating the MRVP broth and incubating it at 37oC for 120 hours, I took my separated samples to the hood and added in the Methyl Red in one tube and reagent A then B in the other tube, I mixed it and checked in on both tubes after every 10 minutes. • 9. Immigration And Immigration The debates over immigration and immigration policy did not develop in recent memory. In fact, one could argue that the debates over this issue date back to antiquity. During Biblical times people did not agree with each other regarding immigration. Even the authors of the Scriptures had different opinions about immigration. Matthew and Paul are two New Testament authors who each discuss the topic of immigration in their writings. Matthew did so in the second chapter of his Gospel, and Paul, in the thirteenth chapter of his letter to the Romans. In the Gospel of Matthew, the author discusses the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. Some people could argue that this story is an argument in favor of lenient immigration policies and international laws, especially those regarding refugees and asylum. Matthew mentions the dream that Joseph had about an angel of the Lord (Matthew 2:13) telling him to flee to Egypt with his wife and their new baby because King Herod was searching for baby Jesus in order to kill him since Herod did not want to believe that Jesus was the Messiah. This dream conversation is important because part of the context of Matthew is trying to convince people that Jesus is the Messiah. The UN High Commissioner for Refugees defines a refugee as someone who has been forced to flee his or her country because of persecution, war, or violence. (UNHCR) An asylum seeker, according to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, is defined as a person who flees their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Media And Havens Much change in the global media by means of mergers and increased concentration has resulted in the limited diversity of content. In addition, the media consolidation does not only effect the content but the ownership and employment opportunities. Winseck (2011) and Havens (2014), both discuss the media mostly in the United States and other parts of the world; comparisons can be drawn to relate to Canadian media. Different theories have been developed around the capitalistic nature of the media corporation on the creativity and diversity of media (Havens, 2014). The following will examine the current standings of the large media corporations in the United States and other countries. In addition, the focus will be put upon the effects of consolidation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The corporations have the capacity to censor or alter important issues that go against their political or ideological positions in the news and in other media outlets. Media can affect and shape public views on numerous issues by leading them in a way that fits in with the views of the organization. Since the media companies have consolidated individuals are less exposed to outside views or particular viewpoints to issues. The current issue can fit within the realm of propaganda, people watch and read what is available and intensely promoted (Chomsky Herman, 2002). If powerful corporations merge with others they are able to send out their own message and as frequently as they would like. In the news, broadcasters can exaggerate what their own points of views are on certain subjects to make individuals alter their own beliefs, as a result (Chomsky Herman, 2002). However, we can also argue that with current technologies individuals can go beyond the news to get their information by using the web for example. With the current technologies, individuals can also verify is statements made by the media contain some truth. What would be interesting to look at would be the racial and gender composition of media corporations and its effect on the diversity of media. Furthermore, the analysis of media consolidation proves to be beneficial in the eyes of capitalism. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. How Does Kate Grenville’s Novel, the Secret River,... How does Kate Grenville s novel, The Secret River, complicate simplistic views of the colonial situation? To some extent the past generations have been reared on a patriotic view of past Australian history, interpreting its history as largely a success. Since history is determined by the perspective of from which it is written, this version of Australian history, the Three Cheers view, was written from the perspective of white working class males, who consider Australian pioneers to be the simple, honest and humble people. Until recently, a rival interpretation, the Black Armband view, has assailed the generally optimistic view of Australian history by construing the history of Australiaas a disgrace. Furthermore, Smasher is also guilty of the dehumanisation of an Aboriginal by creating a scarecrow out of its body5, kidnapping and raping an Aboriginal woman6 and repeatedly asserting that the Blacks deserve to die. Smasher 2appears in the novel to be a very hostile and aggressive man who is not willing to even try to understand the Aboriginal culture, seeing himself as superior and highly civilised. Because of his strong beliefs that the Aborigines are no more than irritating savages, he frequently takes matters into his own hands by dealing with them violently and quickly. By making it evident that Smasher s hatred and conflict towards the Aborigines was not a result of fear or self defence, but an outcome from pure blind racism and malevolence, Grenville suggests that some of the European settlers shared cruel, xenophobic personalities, which reinforces the Black Armband view of Australian history. In the novel, Grenville also creates another character who to a great extent juxtaposes the vision that Smasher embodies. Thomas Blackwood, a fellow emancipist settler, out of all the characters in the novel, is the one who shows utmost appreciation and knowledge of the Aborigines and their culture. • 12. Defining Zero-Based Budgeting ZERO BASED BUDGETING What is Zero Based Budgeting? Zero based budgeting is an innovative approach towards budgeting in corporations that is based on the framing of assumptions about costs and benefits each time the budget is prepared. A budget is a plan for the allocation of financial resources by an organization. Organizations possess finite financial resources that managers allocate among various projects with the expectation that the utilization of financial resources during the operation of these projects will enable the organization to earn a targeted level of revenues or profits. Like every plan, the budget is based on some assumptions about what the costs and revenues will be affected by, and what the magnitude of these effects will be. These assumptions may change each time a budget is made and thus may need to be incorporated in the new budget. As opposed to the conventional form of budgeting which will be discussed later in this paper, zero based budgeting does not assume that the assumptions made at the time of the last budget are still valid in the present context. Therefore, the assumptions have to be developed again and justified before senior management in order to win approval for the allocation of financial resources planned in the budget (Prokopenko, 1987). In revising the assumptions afresh, in zero based budgeting, the planner does not base his or her estimates for the next year on the basis of the figures of the previous year. Although what might be seen as acceptable in one culture, may not be acceptable in another, regardless of where you are health care and culture will always exist. In the Dominican culture, when it comes to illness and health, there is no real explanation as to why people get sick. Some believe illness is caused by natural factors such as a dysfunction in the body; others believe illness is due to supernatural causes such as punishment from evil ancestral spirits or somebody sends the evil spirits after them to harm them. When asked about views of health and illness, she stated that most Dominicans interpret health as being up, active and not being in bed where one is unable to take care of his or her self. Many Dominicans believe that if you are not in bed, therefore you are healthy. Many Dominicans believe in folk practice to promote health, for example: a problems that are seen as natural and spiritual are treated with prayer and ritual. Problems that are believed to be supernatural are treated with the help of a witch, healer, or a voodoo priest. For instance, the Catholics practice Spiritism and Santeria by praying the saints to grant them favors and heal them. • 14. Sketches By Boz – Passage.Charles Dickens’ Language In Sketches by Boz Passage Charles Dickens language in the passage suggests gloominess the motif of darkness is present throughout. The use of words, such as cold, solitary, lifeless gives the scene a sense of degradation and morbidity. He does this in order to give his audience a sense of what it would be like to live as a working class person at that time and thereby establish the atmosphere, foreshadowing the expansion of the subject matter that Dickens held a vested interest in class. The word solitary along with the others such as quiet and closely shut building , forms a semantic field of abandonment and desolation through which Dickens accuses the Establishment (the Government) of essentially neglecting its citizens by... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He voices his support for these side lined people of society by presenting their situation euphemistically understating their circumstances via the word unfortunate . The sympathetic tone in the word denies the idea that the poor are entirely at fault for their situation (which was a widely held belief at the time of the Middle and Upper classes). Dickens purposefully emphasises the idea of understanding and not the renunciation that was common. Having grown up in a working class environment, he had first hand experience of the penury and hardship that they endured. The rich and Middle Classes believed that the poor were at fault for their problems that they did not follow the Christian way of life and deserved to be poor. Dickens was trying to reverse this widespread opinion. Dickens presents the stigmatic problems of anything that could be seen as un Christian , such as alcohol, prostitution, idleness , thereby vagrancy all often classed as immorality , of which many are suggested in the passage and attributed to the poor. But while doing this he also challenges the view that the poor are solely at fault; his blatantly satirical description of the incompetency and idleness of the police, force who gaze listlessly is a disdainful reveal of public attitudes towards them. This is perhaps a consequence of the low pay in the profession s early days, where the passage is set. The police had been set up for some time and were not yet considered ... Especially in certain industries, like energy, transport and financial services, technological innovations have been vital to make those industries develop into what they are today. A report made by the U.S. Department of energy in 1999 shows that if technology had stagnated in 1985, America would have needed twice as many wells to produce the same amount of oil and gas. However, because of technological improvement, we only need half as many wells to produce the same amount in 1999. In 1999, the America used 22 000 less wells to produce the same amount as they did in 1985. A statistical review of world energy made by BP illustrates how much oil and natural gas that has been produced in each country and worldwide from 1965 2010. Worldwide, the total development of oil has increased from 31,806,000 barrels daily in 1965, to 82,095,000 barrels daily in 2010. The development of oil has increased from 96,9 billion cubic feet daily in 1970, to 309 billion cubic feet daily in 2010. The main reason to the increase in production is off course the growing demand, but according to naturalgas it would have been impossible without the improvement in our technology. Consumption of oil increased from 30,783,000 daily in 1965 to 87,382,000 barrels daily in 2010 and consumption of gas increased from 63 billion cubic feet daily in 1965 to 306,6 billion cubic feet daily in 2010. This can lead them to make decisions that have can create major consequences for others and themselves, all for personal gain. This idea was widely acted upon in the 1920 s, where so many people had not known that their actions would lead to, creating The Great Depression. One of the more important Consequences was called the Dust Bowl. The Dust Bowl was an event caused by the rise of farming in the 1920 s, which continues to affect the way we grow our crops to this very day. The Dust Bowl was known as a large section of the US that was covered in a large amount of powerful dust storms, which was caused by over excessive farming during the 1920 s. Like many things during the time period, farming had started to become more and more profitable. In fact, farming had been getting more profitable since WW1. However, this caused people to become greedy. People would farm more and more land each year, in an effort to produce better results. Farmers plowed away at field after field, unaware that anything negative would occur from it. As said in the article The Dust Bowl on USHistory.com, What was unknown to these early pioneers was that the grass and trees of the plains essentially nourished and held the soil in place with their tough roots, (3). If you open the book and see what is inside instead of overlooking it, you might find it interesting after all. This quote by my family member can easily be tied to The Myth of the Latin Women: I just met a Girl Named Maria by Judith Ortiz Cofer, and Just walk on By: Black Men and Public Spaces by Brent Staples. Cofer, talks about how she was stereotyped for being a Latin woman in American culture. Then Staples, talks about how he was discriminated for being a tall, black man that worked as a journalist in a predominantly white field. Both of these authors, were being put in categories based on their appearance. People assumed they were a certain way because she was Hispanic and because he was African American. Modern society is quick to judge people based on their appearance; mainly on attributes of race and gender, eventually affecting the person s outlook on life. People can often be treated and judged in a less than an equal manner. Before they even get to know the true nature of a person, they are judged based on race. Additionally, a female may be overlooked for a certain job and the job is then given to a male counterpart, based solely on gender. Lastly, people will see the world in a different perspective because of the exposure of stereotypes. Being judgmental towards ethnicity and gender will keep us ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Describe and assess the explicit (and sometimes merely implicit) notions of freedom and unfreedom we find in the texts we have read by Marx, Mill and Freud. Use the esoteric traditions we have examined thus far (from the Book of Job to Plato) as a comparative yardstick, or point of reference, but without letting them take over the foreground in your paper the latter should be reserved for these three figures. Karl Marx, Sigmund Freud, and John Stuart Mill are three authors who tackle the topic of freedom in unique ways, but their messages are fundamentally the same and continue the ideas that we encountered in the esoteric texts as well as in The Matrix: . First, we have Karl Marx s Capital: Critique of Political Economy and The Communist Manifesto, where we encounter the proletariat, or the working class people regarded collectively. In these two texts, the latter of which was co authored by Frederick Engels, we learn that the proletariat is enslaved just like the people in the matrix. And just like the people in the matrix, the proletariat is oblivious to this limit on its freedom. That is why in Karl Marx s view, unfreedom is what we are living in now. It s the absession with the six pack that can become dangerous. Female bodies were meant to have a certain amount of body fat in order to maintain healthy menstrual cycles, fertility, safe pregnancies, healthy bones, skin and hair. • 41. A Courageous Mother At Gallipoli On April 6th 2014 in the New Zealand Herald a story titled A courageous mother at Gallipoli was published. The story is about Mary and Doug Hill, whose names were drawn out of a ballot to attend the prestigious Anzac Day ceremony in Gallipoli to mark 100 years since the Gallipoli landing. The article was also about Catherine O Donnell, Doug Hill s great grandmother, who was the first mother of a New Zealandsoldier to travel to Gallipolito visit her son s grave, who had been killed during battle. Along with the article is three secondary images and one primary image which is on the first page of the two page article. In this essay I will use the techniques of semiotics to analyse the images and the article. Semiotics is described as a system used for analysing how all sign systems work (O Shaughnessy, Stadler 2012, p. 131). In regards to the article and the images of A courageous mother at Gallipoli the semiotic analysis will look at the representation of photojournalism, the historic and social values and our cultural identity, the denotative and connotative meanings of the image, and the signifier and signs. Representation and the critique of ideology apply to photojournalism because a photo does not exist in isolation. This means that a photo always has more meaning than what is shown. A camera only captures what is in front of the lens, not around or behind it, therefore there is always more to the story than one image can portray. A photo also has different ... The ability to compete with non renewable fossil fuels, concern about the environment and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and have a source of fuel coming from agriculture as a alternative outlet for agricultural producers, ethanolproduction became an important and endorsed industrial process (Mussatto et al., 2010). Historically, Brazil was a example of country that started with a government program called Pro ГЎlcool in 1975 to increase the production of ethanol, aimed to replacing the use of gasoline, reducing oil imports at a moment that the crise of oil increased the price this combustible (Martines Filho et al., 2006). Sugarcane is an important tropical plant that is produced in Brazil. This forage is included in the family of Poaceae, the same family of corn, wheat, rice and sorghum. Sugarcane is originally from Southeast Asia and was introduced to Brazil in the 16th century, when Brazil was a Portuguese colony. Using this raw material Brazil is the large producer of sugar and the second large producer of ethanol. Brazil has the largest market of biofuel using sugarcane as raw material, making this biofuel a import renewable fuel with cost competitive to replace the petroleum fuel for transport. The assumption of power by Joseph Stalin was arguably one of the most significant periods of Bolshevik Russia s history. Stalin is recognised as one of the most influential men to have ever lead Russia, and he did so through the largest war the world has ever faced, World War II, and through the beginning of one of the most tense periods of modern history, the Cold War. It is easy however, to get lost in the legacy Stalin left behind, and forget about the events leading up to his total control over the communist regime of the 20th century Russia. During his reign as the near absolute ruler of the Soviet Union, Stalin incited a plethora of atrocities, notably the manufactured famines, purges, and labour camp imprisonments. Stalin was able to be the primary blame for the death of an estimated 20 60 million people, with nearly no regard for human life. (Ghosh, 2013) Throughout his journey to power, Stalin faced several blockades and proved his leadership worthy by defeating them and coming out a stronger politician. Examples like Vladimir Lenin s dying testament to the Communist Party, and the turmoiled years of the struggle for power in the Politburo, are all examples of which Stalin has bested his opponents. An abundance of evidence in both the life and times of Joseph Stalin, and a hundred years of speculation of the USSR, should lead for an interesting debate with multiple perspectives. PART 1: UNDERSTANDING THE UNDERGROUND MAN Falsity is defined by the online Oxford dictionary as the fact of being untrue, incorrect, or insincere . In the novel Notes from Underground, Fyodor Dostoevsky highlights the falsity, or artificiality of not only Russian individuals, but of Russian culture as a whole. The novel describes falsity as people who are superficial and shallow. While the main character, the Underground Man, did not consider himself a slave to the falsity, he observed it in others he came into contact with. A good example of this is when the Underground Man went to dinner with his friends (they were hardly so). At this dinner, he mentions how the individuals are good looking on the outside but rather unintelligent on the inside. At one point, he even says that one of them has a handsome but silly face (Dostoevsky), thus indicating that on the outside, his face was handsome but at the same time he was also silly , or foolish and shallow. Horror Versus Terror Before beginning my argument and analysis, it is first necessary to discuss some of the basic contrasting features of the concepts of horror versus terror, beginning with the concept as outlined by Paul Wells. On this distinction, and first referring to terror, he writes terror stimulates the desire to actively come to terms with shock; to enjoy its provocation and understand its effect. [...] Horror, however, has only a negative and paralysing effect; a wholly nihilistic and enduring condition of death and oppression (Wells 11). We learned that horror requires thought, memory, and imagination and that it must be separated by time from whatever experience or event inspired it, even if that event was terror, in our lecture on March 8th, and in a lecture on April 5th we connected the immediate fear of terror and the more prolonged and building experience of horror to common themes and tropes used in many, if not almost all horror films today, which involves the overall change in, and usually tightening, of space in order to elicit horror, and the growing distance in time that builds the experience of horror (Wynter 8 March, 5 April; Wells ... The Effects of AIDS and the Media on the Gay Liberation Movement: The Constitution promises liberty for all, regardless of one s sexual orientation. However, throughout courses of history in America, homosexuals have lived in a conformist climate, and they have experienced various levels of discrimination. Despite this, America also provided homosexuals with the power to fight their oppressors, thus the Gay Liberation Movement. This movement was not one of linear pattern, especially because of the effects of AIDS and the media. As a result of pre existing discrimination and the stereotyping of homosexuals, the media and the public stigmatized AIDS, which temporarily halted the progress of the Gay Liberation Movement; however, after the devastating effects of the AIDS epidemic, the movement advanced as the media shifted the discussion of AIDS and allowed for homosexuals to fight for proper treatment, research, and rights. Due to a conformist society in which homosexuals felt oppressed by conservative views, homosexuals were discriminated against and ridiculed, causing interruptions in the movement and a difficulty advocating for their rights. The During The Elizabethan Era Essay The Elizabethan theater became a central part of social life in Shakespeare s time and was a form of entertainment that took people s minds off the daily hardships during the Elizabethan era. The Elizabethan era is known for its English nationalism and advancements of arts during the English Renaissance. Because of this, the Elizabethan erais considered to be the height of the English Renaissance. England s working class had a difficult life. Powerful lords owned and governed local districts that were usually made up of a few hundred peasants. Nearly 95 percent of England s population lived in these types of districts. Almost all of the labor was performed by the peasant farmers. They farmed about one third of the land for the local lord, a portion for the local church, and the rest for their own usage. They typically worked from sunup to sundown and their daily lives were regulated by the different growing seasons. They rarely traveled beyond their own village. The sick and elderly relied greatly on the kindness of their local lord for survival. The death rate was high and life expectancy was low because of frequent outbreaks of the plague.
