Management Control System
CHAPTER 22
MANAGEMENT CONTROL SYSTEMS, TRANSFER PRICING,
AND MULTINATIONAL CONSIDERATIONS
22 1A management control system is a means of gathering and using information to aid and
coordinate the planning and control decisions throughout the organization and to guide the
behavior of its managers and employees. The goal of the system is to improve the collective
decisions within an organization.
22 2To be effective, management control systems should be (a) closely aligned to an organization
s strategies and goals, (b) designed to fit the organization s structure and the decision making
responsibility of individual managers, and (c) able to motivate managers and employees to put in
effort to attain selected goals desired by top ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
22 12Reasons why a dual pricing approach to transfer pricing is not widely used in practice include:
1.The manager of the supplying division uses a cost based method to record revenues and does not
have sufficient incentives to control costs.
2.This approach does not provide clear signals to division managers about the level of
decentralization top management wants. 3. This approach tends to insulate managers from the
frictions of the marketplace because costs, not market prices, affect the revenues of the supplying
division. 4. It leads to problems in computing the taxable income of subunits located in different tax
jurisdictions.
22 13Disagree. Cost and price information are often useful starting points in the negotiation
process. Costs, particularly variable costs of the selling division, serve as a floor below which
the selling division would be unwilling to sell. Prices that the buying division would pay to
purchase products from the outside market serves as a ceiling above which the buying division
would be unwilling to buy. The price negotiated by the two divisions will, in general, have no
specific relationship to either costs or prices. But the negotiated price will generally fall between
the variable costs based floor and the market price based ceiling.

John Lubbock Naturalism
John Lubbock, a British naturalist and politician, authored the quote, Your character is what you
yourself choose to make it. I firmly believe that he is right in his writing of this quote. This quote
s meaning can be taken taken in a literal sense, but there is a lot of context which must be
considered. There also exists the very precise wording that the author chose in his wording of this
quote. There exists a lot of bias in the author s writing of this quote, as he was a naturalist at the
time of the nature versus nurture debate. I am on the author s side and am a firm supporter in the
meaning of this quote. To examine the quote closely, people must first look at the concept that is
naturalism. Naturalism is the concept which states that people are not just products of their
environment but that people choose what characteristics of which they develop. In the quote the
author takes the viewpoint that the environment may leave an imprint upon the character if a
person, but it is the person who ultimately chooses who they want to be. While some may say that
the author is conveying that the person is not the only factor in adoption of... Show more content on

People are not just products of the environment, as the counter to naturalism might suggest. This is
firmly established in a biography known as A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer. Dave was abused by
his mother throughout his childhood and could have easily given into the hate that his environment
had placed around him. Instead of being consumed by the hatred of his environment, he made the
choice to develop perseverance and escaped this environment writing this biography. Were he a
product of his environment as nurturists would suggest, he would likely have developed much
more malicious habits during the rest of his lifetime. In the end, this quote largely represents the
debate known as nature versus

For thousands of years, many cultural traditions have...
For thousands of years, many cultural traditions have stood uninterrupted by one another. As culture
inevitably changed, societies remained respected. However, with the influence of globalization in
recent centuries, change has become intertwined with conflict. In many instances, a natural change
is not enough. When two societies collide, acculturation can occur, as members of the weaker
society acquire aspects of the dominant society. Despite acculturation s oppressive nature, dominant
cultures may seek the complete eradication of the other: genocide. An excerpt from The Convention
on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide officially defined genocide: In the present
Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed... Show more content on

Before understanding how gravely women have been treated, we must first comprehend how the
ethnic crisis in Darfur occurred. Darfur is a region in Western Sudan, with a population of nearly
six million people. In 1896, the British staged a colonial invasion of Sudan, hoping to carry out their
discriminatory world views of European domination. According to Savo Heleta (2007, 4) the British
administration heavily invested in the north, modernizing and liberalizing political and economic
institutions and improving social, educational, and health services... . With focus in the North, the
British created a Sudanese government that has never recuperated from colonial policy and impact.
Centered in Khotoum, the government was set up without regards for previous ethnic differences
that had been present in the country for centuries. The British followed through with a divide and
rule policy; a policy which established a division between Muslim Arabs and African Blacks. A
few elite (namely, African Blacks who were converted to Christianity) were put into power by the
colonists, creating a great unequal distribution of privilege. Tensions continued to rise between the
Muslim Arabs and African Blacks, especially when the colonists left. In 1989, General Omar Bashir
overthrew Sudan by a military coup. The National Islamic Front government, now in power, stirred
deeper cultural conflict. Wanting total political control and to showcase

Fixing Oklahoma s Education System
Fixing Oklahoma Education In taking a brief look at the Oklahoma education system, one need
not look far before issues of significant underfunding and understaffing come directly into view.
Many different proposals regarding what Oklahoma needs to do to resolve this problem have been
suggested in the past, but very few of these proposals outline an answer regarding how these fixes
will be implemented. How Oklahoma s educational system can increase the effectiveness of its
limited funding is something that can be addressed with simple cost effective steps and strategies
that have proven their effectiveness in other states. Additionally, the issue of understaffing can be
looked at from a fresh perspective in order to understand what the Oklahoma education system can
do to bring in new teachers and keep these teachers. Finally, in joining with national level
movements and interest groups such as the National Education Association which can help with
budgetary issues and Teach for America which can help to bring in new, trained and enthusiastic
teachers into areas of Oklahoma that have seen poor performance from students in the past.
Funding for Oklahoma schools has fallen dramatically in recent years, with Oklahoma spending
$706 less per student in inflation adjusted dollars that it did in 2008, and Oklahomans are worried
about it, and rightly so (Gene, 1). In looking toward a quick fix, many have argued that Oklahoma
need only reduce its administrative costs, thus

Character Analysis Of Avengers Age Of Ultron
Although not comic accurate, his arrogance and imperiousness compels him to build the
artificial intelligence Ultron in an attempt to create a suit of armour around the world . Of
course, Stark s self righteous plan fails and his creation becomes the new super villain of the film
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). In spite of this, his character remains appealing because, in the
netherworld of our unconscious is our constant propensity to return to a state of primary
narcissism (Peaslee 2005:online). Furthermore, with reference to Freudian theory, The Reluctant
Psychoanalyst (2015) claims that the concrete representation of psychologically separate aspects
of ourselves as individual elements pre dated but anticipated a development within
psychoanalytic theory of dream interpretation where one layer of an interpretation is to consider
whether each of the characters within a particular dream might be representing aspects of the
dreamer s personality a part of him or herself, as it were, that can be quite different than other
aspects of the self . If approached in the light of Freud, Avengers: Age of Ultron can be interpreted
as a dream and, therefore, the viewer as the dreamer. If this is the case, such narcissistic
superheroes could be characterizing not just part of our identification with powerful, self absorbed

Omnivore s Dilemma Summary
The Omnivore s Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals, by Michael Pollan, is about one man
s journey through the food production system and how he arrives at the conclusion that although
hunting and gathering may be an excellent means to keep oneself healthy, it is really up to the
individual as to what they are willing to put in their body. Pollan begins section 1 ( Industrial Corn
) by analyzing how far the practice of shopping for groceries at the supermarket has taken modern
society from the natural environment the foodis (presumably) gathered from. He cites the
florescent lighting, comparing it to the less harsh rays of the sun. From here, Pollan relates the
story of a corn farmer from Iowa, George Naylor, to expound upon the impact

In 1923, Hughes traveled abroad on a freighter to the Senegal, Nigeria, the Cameroons, Belgium
Congo, Angola, and Guinea in Africa, and later to Italy and France, Russia and Spain. One of his
favorite pastimes whether abroad or in Washington, D.C. or Harlem, New York was sitting in the
clubs listening to blues, jazz and writing poetry. Through these experiences a new rhythm emerged
in his writing, and a series of poems such as quot; The Weary Blues quot; were penned. He returned
to Harlem, in 1924, the period known as the Harlem Renaissance. During this period, his work was
frequently published and his writing flourished. In 1925 he moved to Washington, D.C., still
spending more time in blues and jazz clubs. He said, quot;I tried to write poems like the songs
they sang on Seventh Street...(these songs) had the pulse beat of the people who keep on going.

of Negro Life and History and founder of Black History Week in 1926. He returned to his beloved

Benefits Of Hypnosis
Have you ever thought of using hypnosis for another purpose besides fun? There are many
beneficial uses for hypnosis that have an outcome for a person. It seems to make things feel like
a dream when unable to accomplish these things awake and conscious. Hypnosis is defined as . . .
a trancelike state that resembles sleep but is induced by a person whose suggestions are readily
accepted by the subject (Merriam Webster). Hypnosiscan have a meaning for many things, not
only for fun at an event where there is hypnotist to make people do enjoyable things and everyone
laughs at them. There are serious reasons to putting someone under hypnosis as well. While being

Which is the fact that one can stop what they are doing, but wants to keep doing it even though it
may not be what someone wants to do. The person being hypnotized has the inner portion observing
what the outside actions are and the outside body doing whatever is being told. The brain chooses to
listen and do what it is being told, but understands on the inside what is happening. If someone did
not want to do something while under hypnosis, they would know and not do something crazy
they would later regret. The subject s inner conscious would take over and deny the hypnotist
directions because they are not in a dream like manner. This connecting to the sociocognitive
approach, a person keeps their social role while being under hypnosis. They would stop doing
something if they truly did not want to do something and their inner self knows the limits of what
is too much to do. Also being under hypnosis, the person can recall people in their real life such as
names while following directions and pretending they are someone else that the hypnotist tells
someone to be. This theory is an opinion that a hypnotist gives hints to the person being hypnotized
what they should do or act like (Wade and Tavris, 2002, pg. 161) . This also states that people can
not have strengths that they do not when they are under, they just broaden up an imagination more
than some people think is possible. The theory dissociation explains that a person listens to the
hypnotist and then becomes what the hypnotist tells them, while the sociocognitive theory explains
that someone can get hypnotized and while they are hypnotized they know their limits. These
theories have some of the same ideas, but overall, do not believe the same

competition in markets so that firms increase efficiency and lower prices for consumers. Hence,

increase competitions in sectors where they operate monopolies (such as electricity, gas, water and

Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). The establishment regulates the cost

The decline in commodity prices and the significant fall in price of oil reflect a combination of
lower growth in demand and significant increases in supply. Australia s growth is continuing at
a below trend pace, with domestic demand growth generally weak. As a result, the
unemployment rate has gradually moved higher over the past year. Overall, the output growth is
seemingly to remain below trend for longer, and the rate of unemployment peak higher. The
effects of the substantial easing in policy that had already been put in place shows that a further
reduction in the cash rate was necessary. As a result, effective as of 6th May 2015, the cash rate
had lowered to 2 percent. The global economy is expanding at a moderate pace, but some
commodity prices are much lower than a year ago. This action is expected to add some further
support to demand to foster sustainable growth and inflation outcomes consistent with the target.
The decreased cash rates prompted the economy to show signs of growth, although at a rate
somewhat below its longer term average as public spending is subdued. With very slow growth in
labour costs, inflation is forecast to remain consistent with the target over the next one to two years
thus requiring monetary policy to be accommodative. The easing of monetary policy have failed to

12 Angry Men
12 Angry Men revolves around opinions, perceptions/perspectives, and the logic and reason of the
12 jury members. This movie highlights the importance of critical thinking as well as its
components. In order to think critically, one must examine one s thinking process and the thinking
process of others. We can evaluate posing arguments by focusing our attention on various thinking
approaches and strategies. We actually have to think for ourselves, exemplified by Henry Fondas
character, to explore and make sense of situations by using our thinking abilities. We must break
down every component of an argument and question the credibility of the source the information is
coming from, put aside our own emotions/judgments/majority influence, and listen to other s
perspectives. To think critically, one need to analyze the content through breaking down each
component and analyzing each point through an examination of what was presented.
The premise of 12 Angry Men was that a minority may affect a majority if rational thought/logic are
used to construct credible arguments based on sound reasons and inconsistencies in argument come
be evaluated to form a credible and reliable conclusion. Critical thinking was not present ... Show

Two Perspectives Of The The Book Of Jonah
Disobedience is essentially a prideful power struggle against someone in authority over us. It can
be a parent, a priesthood leader, a teacher, or ultimately God. A proud person hates the fact that
someone is above him. He thinks this lowers his position (Ezra Taft Benson). The book of Jonah is
based off of a man who disobeys God. Jonahdisobeys God because he was already aware of how the
people of Ninevah would react to the word of God that he came to share. The Book of Jonah can
be used as a piece of art that describes the late 5th to early 4th century in Nineveh. It shows that

Those that lived in the East believed the story of Jonah but didn t believe that Jesus was
crucified and raised from the dead. One major thing that they could never see their God do was
allow His prophet to undergo such humiliation (The Importance of the Book of Jonah). Those
that lived in the West disagreed that Jonah was swallowed by a fish and spit back out in three

population. Survival of the apocalypsewill take an individual and a group s efforts, skills, and

Situations will arise where the group will need a variety of tools, and supplies to survive and to

are unsure of whether they should go into the armed forces or join what Paulo Freire describes as a
misguided system of education (Freire 1). Some students have been citing the need for educational
reform in response to the age old question should I go to college? Too distracted by the weight of
the reform problems, many haven t realized that there s a reasonable solution. While 1960 s Paulo
Freire and 1990 s Mark Edmundson both agree that they wanted students to revolt ... Show more

Evidence collected in the The Cost of Access: Racial Disparities in Student Loan Burdens of Young
Adults tells us that In 2012, 71% of graduates from all four year institutions in the United States had
federal loans, and the average loan amount was $25,500 (Kim et al. 99). That journal, written by
students of the university of Maryland and the university of Georgia, also recommends that In
order to create greater access to college for young adults from Black and other racial/ethnic
minority families there appears to be a greater necessity for some form of financial counseling that
explains the true cost of attending college, the availability of various sources of financial aid, and
the importance of planning ahead to start saving for college early (Kim et al. 112). The upside of
government assisted tuition is that it is free and blind to the color of a student s skin. As long as
they can handle the Air Force culture, their education is on the Government. Now that the student
has the means to get a proper education, they must identify the method of attaining it.
The great thing about an enlisted military education is its employment of both traditional and
nontraditional methods. One new method the USAF is implementing is the credentialing of their

When you call 911 from a land based phone the number you are calling from determines which
911 center receives the call. When you call from a cell phone, the cell phone signal is
transmitted to the closest phone company tower. From there, the signal is transmitted to the
closest 911 center. Sometime the signal is not routed right and could end in the wrong 911
center. However, if that happens, the dispatchers will send it to the right center. According to
Superior Ambulance How 911 Dispatch Works, if you live on the border of two different 911

An Evaluation Of An Internship At The Firm...
Competing on Analytics defines an analytical competitor as an organization that uses analytics
extensively and systematically to outthink and out execute the competition. (1) Business analytics
is a new way for companies to separate themselves from their competitors. I recently completed
an internship at the firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and will work there full time upon
completion of this program. PwC uses analytics to help solve complex business issues and to
identify opportunities across different industries. PwC is the largest professional service company
in the world and is part of the Big Four accounting firms. PwC operates in over 157 countries with
more than 750 offices throughout the world.(2) PwC is structured into three service lines, which
are Assurance, Advisory and Tax. The assurance practice audits almost 30% of the global fortune
500 companies.(2) The advisory practice is mainly consulting activities that cover strategy, cyber
security and privacy, human resources, deals and forensics. (2) These three practices generated

Harriet Tubman s Journeys In The Film The Power Of Good
According to the Cambridge English Dictionary, a rescuer is a person that saves someone or
something from a dangerous, harmful, or difficult situation. In the documentary, The Power of
Good, Nicholas Winton, a British humanitarian, organized the transport and rescue of Jewish
children from Czechoslovakia right before World War II. This operation was later known as the
Czech Kindertransport. Another historical figure who saved people from harm was Harriet
Tubman, an African American abolitionist who led enslaved people to freedom along the
Underground Railroad, a vast network of meeting places, secret routes, passageways and safe
houses used by slaves in the U.S. to escape bondage. Although Harriet Tubman and Nicholas
Winton are both historical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather than staying in the safety of the North, Tubman made it her mission to rescue other slaves
from bondage. However, in 1850, the Fugitive Slave Law was passed that stated that escaped
slaves could be captured in the North and be returned to slavery. This made Tubman re routed the
Underground Railroad to Canada, which prohibited slavery. These journeys were usually during
the winter months to minimize the likelihood of being seen. Tubman also carried a rifle for
protection and to ensure that her escapees would not lose their nerve. From 1850 to 1860, Tubman
rescued an estimated 70 slaves in thirteen expeditions and gave an additional 50 to 60 fugitives
successful instructions on how to escape, earning her the nickname the Moses of the Underground
Railroad. Nicholas Winton s rescue missions were very different than those of Harriet Tubman. In
December 1938, Winton visited a friend who was working with primarily Jewish, Czechoslovakian
refugees in Sudetenland, the western area of Czechoslovakia under German control, when he heard
that there were no organizations to deal with refugee children. He began writing letters asking
governments to help these children, but only Britain and Sweden agreed to support him. Winton,
along with some volunteers, forged travel documents, arranged foster parents for the children, and
paid out of pocket for the transportation. The children boarded trains from Prague, Czechoslovakia
across Germany to the Atlantic Coast. Then, they were transported across the English Channel to
Britain where foster parents waited to pick up the children. After the children arrived in Britain,
Winton had no contact with them. His rescue efforts ended on September 1, 1939, after Germany
invaded Poland and closed off all borders under German control, starting World War II. In total,
Winton managed to orchestrate eight transports and saved

Symbolism In The Open Boat By Stephen Crane
Undoubtedly, Stephen Crane s Open Boat is regarded as one of the finest and most intriguing short
story written by an author with a naturalistic point of view or perspective. Stephen sets up the story
based on his real life experience thereby bringing out the intrinsic reality to his audience using
symbolism, poetry, and imagery. Perhaps the most intriguing naturalistic approach of the Open Boat
is the way Stephen expresses the themes in the short story with an ironic twist regarding the
vastness of the universeand the insignificance of man. As such, Stephen Cranes short story, The
Open Boat, is a true depiction of the tag of war between the unpredictable cosmic universe and man
exposing the themes of determination for survival, mortality, friendship, with an exquisite touch of
other devices such as poetry, symbolism or imagery, and tone. This paper aims at dissecting this
subject matter through a detailed analysis of the plot created throughout the novel. Since the story
is based on the true life experience of Stephen Crane, the setting of the story, therefore, is
determined by the actual event off the coast of Florida. As mentioned in the story, the setting area
of the story is the Mosquito Inlet. Based on the occurrence of the real event, the story is
contextualized within the period of January 1897 (enotes 7). The main theme expressed by Stephen
Crane in the story is nature s indifference towards man or nature versus man. The author elaborates

Samuel De Champlain Was A Better Leader Than Jacques Cartier
This essay will explain why Samuel de Champlain was a better leader than Jacques Cartier.
Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other, said U.S. President John F. Kennedy.
Jacques Cartier and Samuel de Champlain were two French explorers who were the best of the
best at what they did. Both men tried to tame the wild snowy beast that we now know as Canada.
Both men were greatly respected explorers and leaders: one came to Canada tasked with finding
routes through Canada to Asia, and the other man came to establish the fur trade. The debate
about who was the better leader is still going on until today, but this essay will try and show that
the best leader was Samuel de Champlain. Resilience is an important feature to have as a leader.
Both men were cartographers and explorers, but only one had the resilience to remain in the
New World and establish and administer a new colony for France. Resilience is important to
have as a leader because no one would follow you if you crumble under any sort of pressure or
challenge Despite the difficulties of his first few months in the new land, including a very harsh
winter and the death of many of the first settlers due to the cold and starvation, Samuel de
Champlain traveled back and forth across the Atlantic Ocean 23 times to explore and map the land,
and establish and bolster the settlements by bringing back more settlers and materials to trade the
aboriginals for furs. He founded many long lasting settlements in the

Effect Of The Witches In Macbeth
How do the witches affect the actions of Macbeth?
Macduff enters Holding Macbeth s Lifeless head. Hail King of Scotland! , Cheer the people.
How did it get to this? How did a soft hearted and honest noble like Macbeth get into this position?
The quick and easy answer is that it was the work of the three witches.
At the beginning of the play, the three witches gave Macbeth and Banquo prophecies; Macbeth will
be king, thane of Cawdor, and be thane of Glamis. They also said that Banquo s sons will be kings.
At first, Macbeth didn t think much about what the witches said until the first prophecy came true;
Macbeth was awarded Thane of Cawdor. After that Macbeth was sure that the witches were telling

from women would kill Macbeth. Be bloody, bold, and resolute. Laugh to scorn the power of man,

All these predictions made Macbeth very confident in himself. No man born from a woman

impossible, Or so he thought. He was motivated to be violent and bold in his actions. He killed
Macduff s wife and children and stayed to fight Macduff when Edward s army marched to

him, Macbeth thought that he would be able to defeat Macduff. For example, when he killed

A High-Voltage Compliant Microelectrode Array Driver for...
2.5
High voltage switching
A fundamental component of this microelectrode driver is a high voltage switch and it is
necessary to characterize the implemented switch for different stimulation current levels. An
analog CMOS switch can be an n type or p type MOSFET which is operated either in cut off (OFF
state) or ohmic region
(ON state). The switch can be characterized by a fixed linear transconductance, gds , which is
strongly signal dependent and expressed according to Eq. 8 [37] where, Ојn and Ојp are electron
and hole mobility respectively in two types of transistors, Cox is the gate oxide capacitance, W n
and W p are the dimensions of transistors, VDD is the power supply
L
L voltage, and Vin is the input signal. The bulk of NMOS and PMOS transistors are connected to
the highest potential, VDD and the lowest potential, VSS respectively. The limitations are that the
maximum voltage an NMOS and the minimum voltage a PMOS can pass are [VDD в€’ Vthn ] and
|Vthp | respectively.
This drawback can be overcome using CMOS transmission gate (TG) which exhibits lower
overall transconductance. Another advantage of using TG based switch is that it passes good 1
(or logic level high) and good 0 (logic level low) without any threshold voltage drop, or in other
words, TG gate switch allows rail to rail swings. The transconductance of TG gate switch is
expressed by the following equation: The on resistance RsON of the switch is the reciprocal of its
transconductance, gdsON and given by

M. Rivlin s Efforts Establishing The Congressional Budget...
This paper will discuss Alice M. Rivlin s efforts establishing the Congressional Budget Office

This paper will also discuss what stance Rivlin should take regarding political patronage and how
she should manage the situation. Finally, this paper will address which organizational structure she
should adopt for CBO using the framework of five determinants of organizational structure.
The Congressional Budget Act of 1974 established the Congressional Budget Office and on April

major player in the budget process. Originally Congress was pressed to ... Show more content on

Some major power players in Rivlin s appointment and confirmation on the House side were
Chairman Al Ullman and then Rep. Brock Adams. On the Senate side, Chairman of the Senate
Budget Committee, who recommended Rivlin, Edmund Muskie was a major influence in her
appointment.
One of the first things Rivlin did was bringing on Robert Reischauer, a fellow economist from the
Brookings Institute, as her right hand man at CBO. She also reviewed the Budget Act, which
specified what CBO was charged, which was relatively short. Therefore CBO had considerable
freedom under the legislation since both the Senate and House had no clue what they wanted from
their new budget shop. This provided Rivlin an enormous opportunity to look at other models of
how to structure CBO. She could model CBO after other sister agencies like the General
Accounting Office (GAO), Congressional Research Service (CRS), the former Office of
Technology Assessment (OTA), Office of Management and Budget(OMB), or the Joint Committee
on Internal Revenue Taxation Staff. Some suggestions were to organize CBO along functional lines
with policy areas like defense or human resources in separate divisions each containing a numbers
and analysis subdivision. Another suggestion was to spread the numbers function all around to
enable program divisions with a focus on customer relations. But Rivlin also had to be aware of
political patronage. Both Congressmen and

Hitler s Role Of The Nazi Youth
Many wonder how Hitler came to be, but he was a great leader, for the most part. He took the
youth, and gave them power. The role of the Nazi Youth was very specific. Hitler wanted
everyone to think of him as the one and only. Hitler s plan of the Hitler Youth was very efficient
in a way and got everyone to hate the Jews. Hitler wanted them to be the early Aryan race as they
were the future. Hitler wanted the Nazi Regime to be the best, by a lot. If somebody tried
stopping Hitler, he would have them removed and dealt with. Hitler had all power in one man,
being able to do anything and have anything as he pleased. Hitler was very smart in his decisions
but he wasn t a good guy. Hitler and his men killed over 4+ million Jews in the Holocaust. What is
meant in that statement is, Hitler gave orders to exterminate the Jews for ruining the war for
Germany and are to be blamed . A womens role in Germany was very specific, all it was, was,
cooking, cleaning, children, church, and kitchen. What is meant is a womens role in Nazi Germany
was very simple in Hitler s mind, only being able to do those things and nothing else. Hitler also
wanted to remove the weakest and only keep the strongest . Hitler didn t want youth kids who were
considered weak so he had them removed, entirely. Many children had to meet certain requirements
in order to be in the Hitler Youth.
Hitler had also ordered to double gym classes. Hitler wanted every kid to be athletic and strong
so he had gym classes doubled so no Nazi Youth would be overweight or weak. With the rise of
Hitler, he had all school books re written to praise him and Germany and the military and name
the Jews as the enemy. Which means Hitler had all school books re written to feature propaganda
and brainwash the youth into hating the Jews for their crimes and should be willing to die for
Hitler. Many groups were formed that opposed Hitler, some were peaceful and some were violent,
either way Hitler hated them and tried to abolish them.
Groups like Swing Kids, White Rose, and Edelweiss Pirates were formed that opposed Hitler. The
Hitler youth trained the youth for future skill sets. The Youth were treated with great honor and

Persuasive Essay On Arts Education
On May 23, 2017, the president s educational budget was publicly released. It gave the people of
America a brutal outlook of what the future will hold for kids attending public education. Aside
from the many million dollar budget cuts, the new proposal would leave a record of 1.6 million
students without an after school program, most programs of which were centered around the arts.
President Trump and the secretary of education, Betsy DeVos, shaped a finance plan that would cut
approximately $27 million from arts education programs (Langsam, 11). DeVos s validation
procedure sparked the controversial likelihood of there being support for bills, policies, and other
legislation that would prove to be destructive to arts education. The Every Student Succeeds Act, or
the ESSA, ensures that every child receives both a beneficial and versatile education. The ESSA
not only guarantees the inclusion of challenging and progressive arts instruction for pre
kindergarten through 12th grade, but it also assures that the arts is integrated within general
scholastic subjects. If the country were to stray away from the policy in place, the ESSA, education
for kids would be centered around privatizing schools or the creation of a voucher system. This in
turn would impend the tools and funding needed to guarantee equity for arts education in America.
With the massive financial cut in mind, arts companies and organizations should be required to aid
schools in maintaining arts education in

The Problem Of Good And Evil
The problem of good and evil in the world has been a challenging subject for hundreds, even
thousands of years. If God is all powerful omnipotent, all knowing omniscient, and all good
omnibenevolent, how can that same God allow evil to exist and for bad things to happen to good
people? Unfortunately, this question has no certain answer, only theories of explanation. This
question is also one of the main queries of my personal life that drives my beliefs agnosticism. If an

hunger, genocides just to name a few to occur in our world. I would like to dissect this essay and

He wants to transform us into the express image of His Son Jesus Christ. He wants to consecrate
and set us apart unto Himself (Otto, 2014). By God testing us, He is slowly molding us into
sanctified creatures that will be worthy of eternal happiness when we die. The third topic that
Otto touches on as to why God tests us is the simple fact to establish our faith in Him. Otto
makes a very valid point, It s very easy to have faith in God when everything is going good and
great, but let any kind of severe adversity come knocking on our doors, and many Christians will
start to lose their faith in God once the going starts to really get tough (Otto, 2014). I understand
these Christian concepts I understand that God wants devote followers, ones that will not turn
on Him in times of trouble, but daily struggles and challenges are much different than moral evil
God should not have to test our faith by placing cancer, famine, war, genocides, etc. into the
world. In my opinion these types of evils are unnecessary and excessive to be used as a test of
faith. The second theory I would like to visit is the idea that God exists, however He is not all
powerful and is unable to eliminate evil from the world. The author James Beebe illustrates that
argument with this theory: if God is all powerful, He would be able eliminate the evil and
suffering in the world (Beebe, 2012). Furthermore, if God were morally perfect, then surely He

The Change The LA Riots Brought
African Americans in Los Angeles and throughout the United States have experienced racial
oppression for centuries. Rodney King was an African American motorist who inspired positive
police reforms after he had a brutal conflict and was beaten by four members LAPD. Rodney King s
encounter resulted in a social and legal compromise because the incident made people aware of the
police brutality, gave African Americans a voice against police abuse, and resulted in reforms to the
way that the LAPD responded to the communities of color.
The Los Angeles Riots were the second Riots to happen after the Watts Riots. The L.A Riots took

than 50 people and left more than 2,000 injured. On April 30,1992, writers Richard A. Serrano

The Importance Of Religion In Night By Elie Wiesel
Most people around the world are in pursuit of a religion that reflects one s personal interests,
qualities, and beliefs. As a Holocaust victim, Elie Wiesel has a first hand experience with the
overall cruelty that Jews become accustomed to in these times of torture. Within the second World
War were additional wars inside the minds of innocent people, or internal conflicts. God is an
entity that is positioned in the hearts of the enslaved; however, when put in distress, one s faith in
God slowly begins to repress. In Elie Wiesels memoir, Night, the significance of the loss in faith
of God can likewise be perceived as the loss of identity. Wiesel reveals how during this time of pure
hatred towards his religion, he becomes unfocused on who he used to be, and strays from his true
self. Religion has been the motive of most wars throughout history, and often this external conflict
leads the oppressed to internal conflict. As seen through Elie, one can see how this internal conflict
or loss of faith alters personal identity. Elie has difficulty in understanding inhumanity and
oppression surrounding him at this early stage in his life. Elie is beginning to distinguish between
what is legitimate and what is fabricated in terms of the war; for instance, the truth about where
they are being taken and what the Almighty are doing about the Nazi s actions. Walking through
Auschwitz, observing the crematoria, and the hundreds of innocent people walking into their death
unknowingly.

Child Safety Is The Number One Concern
You would be amazed at the amount of regulations that go into an automobile, but even more
surprising would be the amount of regulations that the seat you sit in must pass to make sure that
the driver and passengers are safe and comfortable. Out of all the pieces in the interior of your
car, the seats have the most regulations. This is really not so surprising if you think of the
amount of time and money that car companies spend on making people safe. Whether it be
adults or children, safety is the number one concern. And since child safety has been at the
forefront of the manufacturers focus as well as a few news stories every week we will concern
ourselves with one specific regulation that is essential: The Child Restraint Anchorage System.
The specific standard for this system is FMVSS 225, and can be found at the NHTSA website or
with a Google search on the web. The specific regulation is as follows: 571.225 Standard No. 225;
Child restraint anchorage systems. S1. Purpose and scope. This standard establishes requirements
for child restraint anchorage systems to ensure their proper location and strength for the effective

potential effectiveness in motor vehicles. For this discussion, we will be focusing on the anchors in

William Butler Yeats Research Paper
Yeats Irish Identity shaped poetry, mythology and history, other Irish writers, folktales, Irish

It did not take long for the dead bodies to be discovered. Shortly after the clock struck midnight on
June 13, 1994, Nicole and Ron s bodies were found by police following a 911 call they had
received from a passerby ( He could run ). Chicago police examined OJ s hotel room after he had

go on to claim that Simpson had broken the glass, thus cutting himself when he heard about Nicole

Negative Effects Of Running Marathons
For most, running 26.2 miles just for fun is not appealing; however, others do want to run
marathons for the excitement of a race or to prove to themselves that they can do it. For many
reasons, runners are on board to hit the pavement, whether it is for the challenge or for the
numerous health benefits that come along with it, including weight loss and fitness. Because of the
positive effects of running, the negative aspects of running long distances are sometimes
overlooked. Before deciding to just get up one day and start training for a marathon, know that
running this lengthy race has both desirable and undesirable physical consequences.
Often, running is a route to weight loss and, thus, motivates individuals to get out and exercise,
to burn calories. The activity does burn calories. For example, running at a 6 mph pace burns
372 calories in 30 minutes for a 155 pound person, according to Andrea Cespedes a freelance
wellness expert. However, since calories are needed for performance during long runs, one must
increase calorie intake to fuel the run, especially if the runner s mileage is lengthy (Cespedes). In
addition, some uneducated runners believe that the exercise can be an excuse to eat unhealthy
food, saying that their running makes up for what they eat. This, however, is a myth because often
the calories are empty and do not promote general health. You ran 10 miles, therefore you deserve
the fries, shake and burger. Calories still count and running doesn t

Magna Carta Research Paper Outline
Magna Carta
The Magna Carta or The Great Charter is one of the most influential documents in history till
date. The Magna Carta inspired many historical documents such as the U.S Constitution and the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The Magna Carta is a peace treaty signed in June 15,1215 between King John and the rebel barons.
The Magna Carta was made because nobles/barons caught King John breaking laws he
established. He was banned from churches by Pope Innocent III. To redeem his reputation, John
took money from barons to help the army, which was against the law. Rebel barons wanted King
John to pay for what he done. So, in May 17,1215, they captured the Tower of London. They made
a peace treaty, Magna Carta, which King John ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Magna Carta also charted the right to a fair trial and limits on taxation without
representation. This peace treaty was created because the king was going against the own laws set
by him, and the rebel barons wanted to put an end to this problem by creating a peace treaty. The
Magna Carta required that no one including the king himself must not violate the laws.
The Magna Carta is known as one of the first steps taken in England towards parliamentary
democracy. The Magna Carta is a symbol of freedom from oppression. This peace treaty inspired
the Parliament, in England. It also heavily influenced the American Bill of rights, and the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights. It inspired the U.S founding fathers to right the U.S Constitution.
The Magna Carta was made to protect basic human rights. The treaty was also contrived to limit
the king s power. King John had no intention of believing in the agreement leading to the Baron s
war. When the Baron s captured London King John was forced to negotiate with barons and
eventually sign the treaty. The 1215 Magna Carta was not the only version. In 1225 there was a

Communication between Morton Thiokol (the company that designed the Solid Rocket Boosters)
engineers and NASA management was also very poor. After the incident, Roger Boisjoly, a Morton
Thiokol engineer, stated that the meetings prior to the Challenger launch were filled with intense
customer intimidation (Boisjoly 1). Obviously, this was not a conducive environment to creating an
atmosphere where everyone was comfortable expressing their opinions and making thoughtful
decisions. The truth of the is that Morton Thiokol did not have any information on how its Solid
Rocket Boosters and O rings would perform at temperatures less than 51 ВєF. The night before the
launch, the temperature outside fell to 18 ВєF, and in the morning of the launch the temperature
was at 36 ВєF. At that moment, some engineers believed that the boosters would still be able to
function safely under these conditions, however many were very worried that the temperature
would cause a failure. The inability of the Morton Thiokol engineers to convey their concerns to the
NASA management and convince them to postpone the shuttle s launch is a factor that led to the

(Pearl Interview). It was remarkable to see a manager who has worked somewhere for thirty
years still take pride in his job. After working there for about a year, I decided to finally give it a
try. I have to admit, I ve always thought Mike s was just another seafood restaurant in south
Louisiana, but was I wrong! Mike Anderson s proved to be a wonderful dining experience. For
starters, the quality and taste of the foodis superb and it comes at a very reasonable price.
Secondly, I noticed the warm and inviting atmosphere from the second I walked in. Lastly and
most importantly, what stood out to me the most was the quality of service throughout the meal.
When I first walked through the door of the restaurant, I wasn t sure what to expect. After working

Old Testament Patriarchs Research Paper
The term Patriarchs in the Old Testament makes a reference to two groups of men. The first group
is the twenty men making up the ancestral lineage between Adam to Abraham. At the beginning of
this familial lineage there were ten men that lived before the flood who had extremely long lives
and were known as the Antediluvian Patriarchs, which consisted of Adam, Seth, Enos, Kenan,
Mahalalel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech and Noah. The second group known as the
Patriarchs of Judaismwere the first three leaders of the Israelites that included Abraham, his son

Fast Food Restaurants Are Being Blamed For Obesity Essay
This is an annotated bibliography for research on how fast food restaurants are being blamed for
obesity. I am researching the significance of fast food chains being blamed for obesity rates rising,
when we, in fact should be looking at the individual responsible.
Rice, S., McAllister, E. J., and Dhurandhar, N. V. Fast Food: Friendly? International Journal of
Obesity (2007): pp. 884 86. Academic Search Premier. Web.
In this article published by the International Journal of Obesity, S. Rice, Department of Nutrition
and Food Science, EJ McAllister, Human Nutrition and Food Division, and NV. Dhurandhar,
Department of Infections and Obesity, evaluate the effects of fast food in society. Fast food is
vastly blamed for the rising obesity epidemic, which as discussed in the article is fictional.
Depending on the income of a household, the age group of the consumers, or someone always
on the go, fast food is something people rely on every day as their source of food. This article
discusses how fast food is often blamed for obesity, but in fact has little, to nothing to deal with
obesity rates. I will be using this article in my research as a scholarly source to show how obesity
rates are not to be blamed on fast food.

COMPETENCY DEMONSTRATION REPORT I (CDR I)
CE.1.1. Introduction
Many problems had come to surface for electronic manufacturing companies to increase their
productivity. One of the solution is to reduce human errors in a PCB production especially before
the PCB dispatch for electronic productions.
This project was undertaken as one of the requirements to obtain my Engineering Degree at
Universitas Katholik Atmajaya, Jakarta. The details of the project were:
PROJECT : Create and Design a checking device for single layer printed circuit board (PCB)
DURATION: December 2001 April 2002
LOCATION: Jakarta, Indonesia
NAME OF THE ORGANIZATION: Universitas Katholik Atma Jaya, Jakarta
POSITION: Final year student
CE.1.2. Background
CE.1.2.1. Nature of overall engineering project
Manufacturing, including electronics manufacturing, is a major industry in Indonesia. To be
competitive internationally, manufacturers attempt to reduce their manufacturing cost but at the
same time increase product output and quality. Most manufacturing units use human labour to
undertake quality checking, in this case to ensure the path on the printed circuit board (PCB) was
not missing and that there are no scratches. These defects would cause the PCB to be defective, in
turn making the end electronic products defective. Subsequent market recalls would cost the
manufacturer a large sum of money and reputation.
I decided to create a system for reducing human error in electronics

Lady Boss Essay
The Lady Boss: Women In Entrepreneurship and Procurement
Women entrepreneurs are making their mark in entrepreneurship. According to facts from the
National Women s Business Council, women owned firms are growing and are continuing to help
in employing people. Women are also becoming active in the entrepreneurship world and they
contribute their different style compared to men entrepreneurs.
Some women entrepreneurs are confident to thrive in a male dominated industry while other
women entrepreneurs cater to other women and their concerns, needs and wants. In both aspects,
women play the game and they have the chance to be successful. Women are slowly taking the path
of entrepreneurship and most often make the transit from employer or housewife to a full fledged
entrepreneur in their own right. And such opportunities are not denied to them.
The SBA and the WOSB
The woman entrepreneur can have a lot of help in creating and building her business. The foremost
help can be from the Small Business Administration (SBA). The agency created a program, the
Woman Owned Small Business or WOSB, to help women entrepreneurs in terms of procurement
and purchasing.
The government, with the WOSB program, helps women and their businesses by setting aside and
giving them federal contracts. Businesses that qualify are characterized as business owned and run
by female entrepreneurs. The program also has its own certification called Woman Owned Small
Business (WOSB) program certification. The

Just War Theory, Using The Gulf War
The following essay will present the concept of just war theory, using the Gulf War as a case
study in order to understand the concreteness of the doctrine. The choice of this case is due to the
various issues regarding the application of just war theory to modern conflict, which will be
discussed in the concluding part of the paper.
Just war tradition has its origins in the fourth century AD. The first propagandist of these ideas
was St. Augustine (AD 354 430), who elaborated a just war doctrine, which was later adapted
and explicated by St. Thomas Aquinas (1225 74). According to these writers, a war is always
judged by following two criteria, which concern the reasons states have for fighting and the means
they adopt. They made a distinction between jus ad bellum, the justice of war, and jus in bello,
justice in war. REF
Jus ad bellum refers to the legitimacy of going to war. Having a just cause and possessing the
right intention are part of the conditions in favour of a just war. It is generally assumed as just
cause defending oneself from an act of aggression, which is believed unjust. However, because of
its open endedness, the term aggression should be defined. It could refer to a physical injury (a
violation of territory), an offense (against national honour), a trade embargo (against economy), or
even to a person s prosperity (violation of social justice). Thus, the general consensus considers as
only sufficient reason for just cause an initiation of physical

Baroque Art And Renaissance
Baroque Era: Art and Achitecture of 17th Century France The Baroque are was an era of
extravagance and nowhere in Europe showed this better then France. France was a country ruled
by the aristocracy in every way imaginable. This proved to be the monarchies downfall in the end
(Fiero, pg. 61). Baroque refers to a style of art that appeared around 1600 C.E. and continued until
1750 C.E. and was named after the Portuguese word barrocco which refers to irregularly shaped
pearls further referencing the styles gander (Fiero, pg. 46). The baroqueera in France was shown
with its art and architecture. Baroque is an odd era of art to define as there is not simply one
version of the style but three. The first style originates in Italy and was also where the general
Baroque style was born. This style was born out of the counter reformation and it showed
Christianity and biblical figures in a new light. The artist of this era desired to give a feeling of
being part of the action; unlike the High Renaissance style they did not strive for idealization of
their figures preferring to instead leave them with a more human feel. The most well known of the
Italian Baroque painters was Caravaggio; he bathed his figures in contrasts of light and dark and
used movement such as the figure of Jesus blessing the bread in his painting The Supper at
Emmaus (Fiero, pg. 47). The other best known Baroque artiest is Bernini. Unlike Caravaggio,
Bernini did not paint but instead created wonderful masterly

  • 2. Management Control System CHAPTER 22 MANAGEMENT CONTROL SYSTEMS, TRANSFER PRICING, AND MULTINATIONAL CONSIDERATIONS 22 1A management control system is a means of gathering and using information to aid and coordinate the planning and control decisions throughout the organization and to guide the behavior of its managers and employees. The goal of the system is to improve the collective decisions within an organization. 22 2To be effective, management control systems should be (a) closely aligned to an organization s strategies and goals, (b) designed to fit the organization s structure and the decision making responsibility of individual managers, and (c) able to motivate managers and employees to put in effort to attain selected goals desired by top ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 22 12Reasons why a dual pricing approach to transfer pricing is not widely used in practice include: 1.The manager of the supplying division uses a cost based method to record revenues and does not have sufficient incentives to control costs. 2.This approach does not provide clear signals to division managers about the level of decentralization top management wants. 3. This approach tends to insulate managers from the frictions of the marketplace because costs, not market prices, affect the revenues of the supplying division. 4. It leads to problems in computing the taxable income of subunits located in different tax jurisdictions. 22 13Disagree. Cost and price information are often useful starting points in the negotiation process. Costs, particularly variable costs of the selling division, serve as a floor below which the selling division would be unwilling to sell. Prices that the buying division would pay to purchase products from the outside market serves as a ceiling above which the buying division would be unwilling to buy. The price negotiated by the two divisions will, in general, have no specific relationship to either costs or prices. But the negotiated price will generally fall between the variable costs based floor and the market price based ceiling. 22 14 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. John Lubbock Naturalism John Lubbock, a British naturalist and politician, authored the quote, Your character is what you yourself choose to make it. I firmly believe that he is right in his writing of this quote. This quote s meaning can be taken taken in a literal sense, but there is a lot of context which must be considered. There also exists the very precise wording that the author chose in his wording of this quote. There exists a lot of bias in the author s writing of this quote, as he was a naturalist at the time of the nature versus nurture debate. I am on the author s side and am a firm supporter in the meaning of this quote. To examine the quote closely, people must first look at the concept that is naturalism. Naturalism is the concept which states that people are not just products of their environment but that people choose what characteristics of which they develop. In the quote the author takes the viewpoint that the environment may leave an imprint upon the character if a person, but it is the person who ultimately chooses who they want to be. While some may say that the author is conveying that the person is not the only factor in adoption of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People are not just products of the environment, as the counter to naturalism might suggest. This is firmly established in a biography known as A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer. Dave was abused by his mother throughout his childhood and could have easily given into the hate that his environment had placed around him. Instead of being consumed by the hatred of his environment, he made the choice to develop perseverance and escaped this environment writing this biography. Were he a product of his environment as nurturists would suggest, he would likely have developed much more malicious habits during the rest of his lifetime. In the end, this quote largely represents the debate known as nature versus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As culture inevitably changed, societies remained respected. However, with the influence of globalization in recent centuries, change has become intertwined with conflict. In many instances, a natural change is not enough. When two societies collide, acculturation can occur, as members of the weaker society acquire aspects of the dominant society. Despite acculturation s oppressive nature, dominant cultures may seek the complete eradication of the other: genocide. An excerpt from The Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide officially defined genocide: In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed... Darfur is a region in Western Sudan, with a population of nearly six million people. In 1896, the British staged a colonial invasion of Sudan, hoping to carry out their discriminatory world views of European domination. According to Savo Heleta (2007, 4) the British administration heavily invested in the north, modernizing and liberalizing political and economic institutions and improving social, educational, and health services... . With focus in the North, the British created a Sudanese government that has never recuperated from colonial policy and impact. Centered in Khotoum, the government was set up without regards for previous ethnic differences that had been present in the country for centuries. The British followed through with a divide and rule policy; a policy which established a division between Muslim Arabs and African Blacks. A few elite (namely, African Blacks who were converted to Christianity) were put into power by the colonists, creating a great unequal distribution of privilege. Tensions continued to rise between the Muslim Arabs and African Blacks, especially when the colonists left. In 1989, General Omar Bashir overthrew Sudan by a military coup. • 7. Fixing Oklahoma s Education System Fixing Oklahoma Education In taking a brief look at the Oklahoma education system, one need not look far before issues of significant underfunding and understaffing come directly into view. Many different proposals regarding what Oklahoma needs to do to resolve this problem have been suggested in the past, but very few of these proposals outline an answer regarding how these fixes will be implemented. How Oklahoma s educational system can increase the effectiveness of its limited funding is something that can be addressed with simple cost effective steps and strategies that have proven their effectiveness in other states. Additionally, the issue of understaffing can be looked at from a fresh perspective in order to understand what the Oklahoma education system can do to bring in new teachers and keep these teachers. Finally, in joining with national level movements and interest groups such as the National Education Association which can help with budgetary issues and Teach for America which can help to bring in new, trained and enthusiastic teachers into areas of Oklahoma that have seen poor performance from students in the past. Funding for Oklahoma schools has fallen dramatically in recent years, with Oklahoma spending $706 less per student in inflation adjusted dollars that it did in 2008, and Oklahomans are worried about it, and rightly so (Gene, 1). In looking toward a quick fix, many have argued that Oklahoma need only reduce its administrative costs, thus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Character Analysis Of Avengers Age Of Ultron Although not comic accurate, his arrogance and imperiousness compels him to build the artificial intelligence Ultron in an attempt to create a suit of armour around the world . Of course, Stark s self righteous plan fails and his creation becomes the new super villain of the film Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). In spite of this, his character remains appealing because, in the netherworld of our unconscious is our constant propensity to return to a state of primary narcissism (Peaslee 2005:online). Furthermore, with reference to Freudian theory, The Reluctant Psychoanalyst (2015) claims that the concrete representation of psychologically separate aspects of ourselves as individual elements pre dated but anticipated a development within psychoanalytic theory of dream interpretation where one layer of an interpretation is to consider whether each of the characters within a particular dream might be representing aspects of the dreamer s personality a part of him or herself, as it were, that can be quite different than other aspects of the self . If approached in the light of Freud, Avengers: Age of Ultron can be interpreted as a dream and, therefore, the viewer as the dreamer. Omnivore s Dilemma Summary The Omnivore s Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals, by Michael Pollan, is about one man s journey through the food production system and how he arrives at the conclusion that although hunting and gathering may be an excellent means to keep oneself healthy, it is really up to the individual as to what they are willing to put in their body. Pollan begins section 1 ( Industrial Corn ) by analyzing how far the practice of shopping for groceries at the supermarket has taken modern society from the natural environment the foodis (presumably) gathered from. He cites the florescent lighting, comparing it to the less harsh rays of the sun. From here, Pollan relates the story of a corn farmer from Iowa, George Naylor, to expound upon the impact ... • 12. Benefits Of Hypnosis Have you ever thought of using hypnosis for another purpose besides fun? There are many beneficial uses for hypnosis that have an outcome for a person. It seems to make things feel like a dream when unable to accomplish these things awake and conscious. Hypnosis is defined as . . . a trancelike state that resembles sleep but is induced by a person whose suggestions are readily accepted by the subject (Merriam Webster). Hypnosiscan have a meaning for many things, not only for fun at an event where there is hypnotist to make people do enjoyable things and everyone laughs at them. The person being hypnotized has the inner portion observing what the outside actions are and the outside body doing whatever is being told. The brain chooses to listen and do what it is being told, but understands on the inside what is happening. If someone did not want to do something while under hypnosis, they would know and not do something crazy they would later regret. The subject s inner conscious would take over and deny the hypnotist directions because they are not in a dream like manner. This connecting to the sociocognitive approach, a person keeps their social role while being under hypnosis. They would stop doing something if they truly did not want to do something and their inner self knows the limits of what is too much to do. Also being under hypnosis, the person can recall people in their real life such as names while following directions and pretending they are someone else that the hypnotist tells someone to be. This theory is an opinion that a hypnotist gives hints to the person being hypnotized what they should do or act like (Wade and Tavris, 2002, pg. 161) . This also states that people can not have strengths that they do not when they are under, they just broaden up an imagination more than some people think is possible. The theory dissociation explains that a person listens to the hypnotist and then becomes what the hypnotist tells them, while the sociocognitive theory explains that someone can get hypnotized and while they are hypnotized they know their limits. Overall, the output growth is seemingly to remain below trend for longer, and the rate of unemployment peak higher. This movie highlights the importance of critical thinking as well as its components. In order to think critically, one must examine one s thinking process and the thinking process of others. We can evaluate posing arguments by focusing our attention on various thinking approaches and strategies. We actually have to think for ourselves, exemplified by Henry Fondas character, to explore and make sense of situations by using our thinking abilities. We must break down every component of an argument and question the credibility of the source the information is coming from, put aside our own emotions/judgments/majority influence, and listen to other s perspectives. To think critically, one need to analyze the content through breaking down each component and analyzing each point through an examination of what was presented. From 1850 to 1860, Tubman rescued an estimated 70 slaves in thirteen expeditions and gave an additional 50 to 60 fugitives successful instructions on how to escape, earning her the nickname the Moses of the Underground Railroad. Nicholas Winton s rescue missions were very different than those of Harriet Tubman. Perhaps the most intriguing naturalistic approach of the Open Boat is the way Stephen expresses the themes in the short story with an ironic twist regarding the vastness of the universeand the insignificance of man. Both men were greatly respected explorers and leaders: one came to Canada tasked with finding routes through Canada to Asia, and the other man came to establish the fur trade. A High-Voltage Compliant Microelectrode Array Driver for... 2.5 High voltage switching A fundamental component of this microelectrode driver is a high voltage switch and it is necessary to characterize the implemented switch for different stimulation current levels. An analog CMOS switch can be an n type or p type MOSFET which is operated either in cut off (OFF state) or ohmic region (ON state). The switch can be characterized by a fixed linear transconductance, gds , which is strongly signal dependent and expressed according to Eq. 8 [37] where, Ојn and Ојp are electron and hole mobility respectively in two types of transistors, Cox is the gate oxide capacitance, W n and W p are the dimensions of transistors, VDD is the power supply L L voltage, and Vin is the input signal. The bulk of NMOS and PMOS transistors are connected to the highest potential, VDD and the lowest potential, VSS respectively. The limitations are that the maximum voltage an NMOS and the minimum voltage a PMOS can pass are [VDD в€’ Vthn ] and |Vthp | respectively. This drawback can be overcome using CMOS transmission gate (TG) which exhibits lower overall transconductance. Another advantage of using TG based switch is that it passes good 1 (or logic level high) and good 0 (logic level low) without any threshold voltage drop, or in other words, TG gate switch allows rail to rail swings. Some major power players in Rivlin s appointment and confirmation on the House side were Chairman Al Ullman and then Rep. Brock Adams. On the Senate side, Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, who recommended Rivlin, Edmund Muskie was a major influence in her appointment. One of the first things Rivlin did was bringing on Robert Reischauer, a fellow economist from the Brookings Institute, as her right hand man at CBO. She also reviewed the Budget Act, which specified what CBO was charged, which was relatively short. Therefore CBO had considerable freedom under the legislation since both the Senate and House had no clue what they wanted from their new budget shop. This provided Rivlin an enormous opportunity to look at other models of how to structure CBO. She could model CBO after other sister agencies like the General Accounting Office (GAO), Congressional Research Service (CRS), the former Office of Technology Assessment (OTA), Office of Management and Budget(OMB), or the Joint Committee on Internal Revenue Taxation Staff. Some suggestions were to organize CBO along functional lines with policy areas like defense or human resources in separate divisions each containing a numbers and analysis subdivision. Another suggestion was to spread the numbers function all around to enable program divisions with a focus on customer relations. But Rivlin also had to be aware of political patronage. • 31. Hitler s Role Of The Nazi Youth Many wonder how Hitler came to be, but he was a great leader, for the most part. He took the youth, and gave them power. The role of the Nazi Youth was very specific. Hitler wanted everyone to think of him as the one and only. Hitler s plan of the Hitler Youth was very efficient in a way and got everyone to hate the Jews. Hitler wanted them to be the early Aryan race as they were the future. Hitler wanted the Nazi Regime to be the best, by a lot. If somebody tried stopping Hitler, he would have them removed and dealt with. Hitler had all power in one man, being able to do anything and have anything as he pleased. Hitler was very smart in his decisions but he wasn t a good guy. Hitler and his men killed over 4+ million Jews in the Holocaust. What is meant in that statement is, Hitler gave orders to exterminate the Jews for ruining the war for Germany and are to be blamed . A womens role in Germany was very specific, all it was, was, cooking, cleaning, children, church, and kitchen. What is meant is a womens role in Nazi Germany was very simple in Hitler s mind, only being able to do those things and nothing else. Hitler also wanted to remove the weakest and only keep the strongest . Hitler didn t want youth kids who were considered weak so he had them removed, entirely. Many children had to meet certain requirements in order to be in the Hitler Youth. Hitler had also ordered to double gym classes. Hitler wanted every kid to be athletic and strong so he had gym classes doubled so no Nazi Youth would be overweight or weak. With the rise of Hitler, he had all school books re written to praise him and Germany and the military and name the Jews as the enemy. Which means Hitler had all school books re written to feature propaganda and brainwash the youth into hating the Jews for their crimes and should be willing to die for Hitler. Many groups were formed that opposed Hitler, some were peaceful and some were violent, either way Hitler hated them and tried to abolish them. • 32. Persuasive Essay On Arts Education On May 23, 2017, the president s educational budget was publicly released. It gave the people of America a brutal outlook of what the future will hold for kids attending public education. Aside from the many million dollar budget cuts, the new proposal would leave a record of 1.6 million students without an after school program, most programs of which were centered around the arts. President Trump and the secretary of education, Betsy DeVos, shaped a finance plan that would cut approximately $27 million from arts education programs (Langsam, 11). DeVos s validation procedure sparked the controversial likelihood of there being support for bills, policies, and other legislation that would prove to be destructive to arts education. The Every Student Succeeds Act, or the ESSA, ensures that every child receives both a beneficial and versatile education. The ESSA not only guarantees the inclusion of challenging and progressive arts instruction for pre kindergarten through 12th grade, but it also assures that the arts is integrated within general scholastic subjects. If the country were to stray away from the policy in place, the ESSA, education for kids would be centered around privatizing schools or the creation of a voucher system. This in turn would impend the tools and funding needed to guarantee equity for arts education in America. With the massive financial cut in mind, arts companies and organizations should be required to aid schools in maintaining arts education in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. The Problem Of Good And Evil The problem of good and evil in the world has been a challenging subject for hundreds, even thousands of years. If God is all powerful omnipotent, all knowing omniscient, and all good omnibenevolent, how can that same God allow evil to exist and for bad things to happen to good people? Unfortunately, this question has no certain answer, only theories of explanation. This question is also one of the main queries of my personal life that drives my beliefs agnosticism. If an all powerful Goddoes exist, I can t imagine why He would allow such atrocities, such as cancers, hunger, genocides just to name a few to occur in our world. He wants to transform us into the express image of His Son Jesus Christ. He wants to consecrate and set us apart unto Himself (Otto, 2014). By God testing us, He is slowly molding us into sanctified creatures that will be worthy of eternal happiness when we die. The third topic that Otto touches on as to why God tests us is the simple fact to establish our faith in Him. Otto makes a very valid point, It s very easy to have faith in God when everything is going good and great, but let any kind of severe adversity come knocking on our doors, and many Christians will start to lose their faith in God once the going starts to really get tough (Otto, 2014). I understand these Christian concepts I understand that God wants devote followers, ones that will not turn on Him in times of trouble, but daily struggles and challenges are much different than moral evil God should not have to test our faith by placing cancer, famine, war, genocides, etc. into the world. In my opinion these types of evils are unnecessary and excessive to be used as a test of faith. The second theory I would like to visit is the idea that God exists, however He is not all powerful and is unable to eliminate evil from the world. The author James Beebe illustrates that argument with this theory: if God is all powerful, He would be able eliminate the evil and suffering in the world (Beebe, 2012). • 39. The Importance Of Religion In Night By Elie Wiesel Most people around the world are in pursuit of a religion that reflects one s personal interests, qualities, and beliefs. As a Holocaust victim, Elie Wiesel has a first hand experience with the overall cruelty that Jews become accustomed to in these times of torture. Within the second World War were additional wars inside the minds of innocent people, or internal conflicts. God is an entity that is positioned in the hearts of the enslaved; however, when put in distress, one s faith in God slowly begins to repress. In Elie Wiesels memoir, Night, the significance of the loss in faith of God can likewise be perceived as the loss of identity. Wiesel reveals how during this time of pure hatred towards his religion, he becomes unfocused on who he used to be, and strays from his true self. Religion has been the motive of most wars throughout history, and often this external conflict leads the oppressed to internal conflict. As seen through Elie, one can see how this internal conflict or loss of faith alters personal identity. Elie has difficulty in understanding inhumanity and oppression surrounding him at this early stage in his life. Elie is beginning to distinguish between what is legitimate and what is fabricated in terms of the war; for instance, the truth about where they are being taken and what the Almighty are doing about the Nazi s actions. Negative Effects Of Running Marathons For most, running 26.2 miles just for fun is not appealing; however, others do want to run marathons for the excitement of a race or to prove to themselves that they can do it. For many reasons, runners are on board to hit the pavement, whether it is for the challenge or for the numerous health benefits that come along with it, including weight loss and fitness. Because of the positive effects of running, the negative aspects of running long distances are sometimes overlooked. Before deciding to just get up one day and start training for a marathon, know that running this lengthy race has both desirable and undesirable physical consequences. Often, running is a route to weight loss and, thus, motivates individuals to get out and exercise, to burn calories. The activity does burn calories. For example, running at a 6 mph pace burns 372 calories in 30 minutes for a 155 pound person, according to Andrea Cespedes a freelance wellness expert. However, since calories are needed for performance during long runs, one must increase calorie intake to fuel the run, especially if the runner s mileage is lengthy (Cespedes). In addition, some uneducated runners believe that the exercise can be an excuse to eat unhealthy food, saying that their running makes up for what they eat. • 53. Fast Food Restaurants Are Being Blamed For Obesity Essay This is an annotated bibliography for research on how fast food restaurants are being blamed for obesity. I am researching the significance of fast food chains being blamed for obesity rates rising, when we, in fact should be looking at the individual responsible. Rice, S., McAllister, E. J., and Dhurandhar, N. V. Fast Food: Friendly? International Journal of Obesity (2007): pp. 884 86. Academic Search Premier. Web. In this article published by the International Journal of Obesity, S. Rice, Department of Nutrition and Food Science, EJ McAllister, Human Nutrition and Food Division, and NV. Dhurandhar, Department of Infections and Obesity, evaluate the effects of fast food in society. Fast food is vastly blamed for the rising obesity epidemic, which as discussed in the article is fictional. Depending on the income of a household, the age group of the consumers, or someone always on the go, fast food is something people rely on every day as their source of food. This article discusses how fast food is often blamed for obesity, but in fact has little, to nothing to deal with obesity rates. I will be using this article in my research as a scholarly source to show how obesity rates are not to be blamed on fast food. Jeffery, W Robert. Baxter, Judy. McGuire, Maureen. Linde, Jennifer. • 54. Competency Demonstration Report I ( Pcb ) COMPETENCY DEMONSTRATION REPORT I (CDR I) CE.1.1. Introduction Many problems had come to surface for electronic manufacturing companies to increase their productivity. One of the solution is to reduce human errors in a PCB production especially before the PCB dispatch for electronic productions. This project was undertaken as one of the requirements to obtain my Engineering Degree at Universitas Katholik Atmajaya, Jakarta. The details of the project were: PROJECT : Create and Design a checking device for single layer printed circuit board (PCB) DURATION: December 2001 April 2002 LOCATION: Jakarta, Indonesia NAME OF THE ORGANIZATION: Universitas Katholik Atma Jaya, Jakarta POSITION: Final year student CE.1.2. Background CE.1.2.1. Nature of overall engineering project Manufacturing, including electronics manufacturing, is a major industry in Indonesia. To be competitive internationally, manufacturers attempt to reduce their manufacturing cost but at the same time increase product output and quality. Most manufacturing units use human labour to undertake quality checking, in this case to ensure the path on the printed circuit board (PCB) was not missing and that there are no scratches. These defects would cause the PCB to be defective, in turn making the end electronic products defective. Subsequent market recalls would cost the manufacturer a large sum of money and reputation. I decided to create a system for reducing human error in electronics ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 56. Just War Theory, Using The Gulf War The following essay will present the concept of just war theory, using the Gulf War as a case study in order to understand the concreteness of the doctrine. The choice of this case is due to the various issues regarding the application of just war theory to modern conflict, which will be discussed in the concluding part of the paper. Just war tradition has its origins in the fourth century AD. The first propagandist of these ideas was St. Augustine (AD 354 430), who elaborated a just war doctrine, which was later adapted and explicated by St. Thomas Aquinas (1225 74). According to these writers, a war is always judged by following two criteria, which concern the reasons states have for fighting and the means they adopt. They made a distinction between jus ad bellum, the justice of war, and jus in bello, justice in war. REF Jus ad bellum refers to the legitimacy of going to war. Having a just cause and possessing the right intention are part of the conditions in favour of a just war. It is generally assumed as just cause defending oneself from an act of aggression, which is believed unjust. However, because of its open endedness, the term aggression should be defined. It could refer to a physical injury (a violation of territory), an offense (against national honour), a trade embargo (against economy), or even to a person s prosperity (violation of social justice). Thus, the general consensus considers as only sufficient reason for just cause an initiation of physical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. Baroque Art And Renaissance Baroque Era: Art and Achitecture of 17th Century France The Baroque are was an era of extravagance and nowhere in Europe showed this better then France. France was a country ruled by the aristocracy in every way imaginable. This proved to be the monarchies downfall in the end (Fiero, pg. 61). Baroque refers to a style of art that appeared around 1600 C.E. and continued until 1750 C.E. and was named after the Portuguese word barrocco which refers to irregularly shaped pearls further referencing the styles gander (Fiero, pg. 46). The baroqueera in France was shown with its art and architecture. Baroque is an odd era of art to define as there is not simply one version of the style but three. The first style originates in Italy and was also where the general Baroque style was born. This style was born out of the counter reformation and it showed Christianity and biblical figures in a new light. The artist of this era desired to give a feeling of being part of the action; unlike the High Renaissance style they did not strive for idealization of their figures preferring to instead leave them with a more human feel. The most well known of the Italian Baroque painters was Caravaggio; he bathed his figures in contrasts of light and dark and used movement such as the figure of Jesus blessing the bread in his painting The Supper at Emmaus (Fiero, pg. 47). The other best known Baroque artiest is Bernini. Unlike Caravaggio, Bernini did not paint but instead created wonderful masterly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
