environment. My teacher assigned this topic to me. I am glad my teacher assigned me a science
topic. This school focuses a lot on math and language arts so science gets left out a lot so I am

passes by many of us start to alienate from each other in terms of what classes we belong to and

In the book Of Love and Other Demons written by Gabriel Marquez, Main Character Sierva
Maria is a young child whose existence had been neglected from birth by her father, The second
Marquis of Casalduero, and her mother, a once powerful Merchant. She lives her life, peacefully,
among the slaves in their quarters until she is one day bitten by a rabid dog. Once the news had
spread of the bite, the question of not only life and death, but demonic possessionand lovecome into
play. The article, By Love Possessed written by A.S Byatt, closely analyzes the life Sierva suffered
after the bite and if the demons in the title of the work are really the ones the Church believes is
possessing her. Love is subliminally introduced throughout the piece and the only demonnamed in
the title. Knowing that love is the worst demon of all, the other demons mentioned in the work
never resided in Sierva, but in the sins of man. When Sierva was bitten, the only people who
knew about it were the slaves. After a few rituals, the bite slowly began to heal and she showed
no signs of contracting the deadly disease of rabies. Once her father, the Marquis, made the
discovery of what had occurred, he made Sierva live within the house instead of the slave quarters.
Not suited to the environment, Sierva never spoke and rarely showed any form of emotion. The
Marquis did everything he could to figure out how to save her, not only from possibly contracting
rabies, but from what was making her act
