The recession in 2008 resulted in travelers seeking cheaper fares and led to growth in sales for budget
airlines. This opportunity during recession allows budget airlines to take advantage and of more
travelers seeking low fares with budget airlines rather than more expensive airline tickets.
With the higher oil prices, natural disasters in Japan, discontent in the Middle East, North Africa and
can force competitors in the airline industry to increase prices and fuel surcharges which pose major
threats to airlines profits and survival of airlines.
Social
The growth in demand for passengers seeking low cost airlines for cheaper fares is an opportunity for
budget airlines. People are living a better standard of life with declining inequality of incomes made
up mostly of middle class income people. People are also more well travelled, experienced and seek
new destinations with the growth of vacation property (Goeldner and Ritchie, 2009). This is an
opportunity as budget airlines frequently service short haul destinations for short trips or weekend
trips for leisure or business purposes offering more destinations and new experiences to people with
low fares. Migration has also made commuting a factor with people seeking employment
opportunities and education as a motive for travelling as well as the rising quality standards has shown
to expect growth for low cost airlines (Gross and Schröder, 2007).

Safavid Architecture
The architecture and landscape design of the Palace of the Alhambra has been called sensuous because
the alhambra engages the senses of sight, smell and sound. The palace was made to engage the viewer
in all sense and showcase their own power. The patrons uses artists around the middle east who

The Three Concepts Of Donald Davidson s Anomalous Monism
Donald Davidson s Mental Events, challenges how we discuss mind body interactions. The thesis
presented by Davidson, is that of Anomalous Monism, which attempts to answer the causality of
mental and physical events. Differing from forms of the more common Dualism, Davidson accepts
monism as the best way to describe the mind body relationship. Meaning he accepts token identity and
rejects type identity. Davidson s argument consists of three key principles. The first being the
Principle of Causal Interaction which states that at least some mental events interact causally with
physical events. The second is the Principle of the Nomological Character of Causality, where there is
causality there must be law (Deterministic law). The third is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Essentially, he is saying that the mental physical relationship is dependent on an identity that is not
connected by psycho physical laws but on the properties of the two terms. Thus, The Principle of
Causal Interaction states that at least some mental events interact causally with physical events.
Therefore, the principle is saying that some mental events do not causally interact with physical ones,
which differentiates Anomalous monism from other theories on psycho physical causation.
The Principle of the Nomological Character of Causality, is Davidson s second principle for
Anomalous monism. As we review the next two principles we will run into many seemingly
contradicting points that can be argued in favor anEd against Davidson s Anomalous monism. The
second principle states that, where there is causality, there must be law: events related as cause and
effect fall under strict deterministic laws. Right away we can recognize the contradiction with the first
principle of causal interaction. According to the first principle of casual interaction there are no
psycho physical laws in which we can define mental and physical term, but in the second principle it
relies on strict deterministic laws. The principles appear to begin to contradict each other but Davidson
depend on his specific explanations to make sense of his seemingly opposing

My Dad
When I woke up the morning of June 11th, 2008, I thought it was going to be a normal day, but, I was
wrong. Growing up, my mom told my sisters and I about my Uncle. How he was hot tempered and did
things that were crazy when he didn t get his way. My mom and his relationship has always been
tense. From what I ve seen, and from what she has told me. When she got shot by him that day, it
proved to me that she was right. It was just a normal day. My mother sister, and I, driving around. My
uncle had called and told us how he had gotten a new pit bull puppy, and he invited us over to come
see it. We arrive, and this puppy is the cutest pup I ve ever seen. She was brindle with blue eyes. My
mom wanted to talk to my uncle about us keeping her. While lying on the couch playing with the
puppy, I look over and see my mom, sister, aunt and uncle sitting on the other couch. We were
laughing, smiling, telling jokes. You wouldn t think a bad thing would ever happen in the room. I
know my mother and uncles relationship, an argument was bound to spark over something simple.
They began their routine of arguing back and forth. Meanwhile, from what I could understand, they
were fighting about the pup. Now, I know that might sound outrageous but, the arguing continues. The
argument ended and my uncle walks off to the back room with a creepy smile on his face. In my mind
I m thinking, Ok everything is fine, they just had a moment. Just like that, I see my uncle come from

My Symbols Of My Life
When you are going through a tough time and having many problems, remember this story. It is
refreshing to sometimes remember that whatever our problem is, there are people in the world that
wish that they have our problems. I aspire to be just like my sister, Erika, for her optimism, everlasting
joy, and determination. No matter what life through at her she always remained happy. Erika is my
symbol of everything I want to be. Erika was born in Rome, Italy just like me in 1986. She lived in
Italy for the majority of her life and enjoyed many things. Such as Italian cuisine, dancing, blogging,
exploring, and spending time with her friends. She loved horses and her favorite color is purple. Erika
was born with spina bifida. Spina bifida is a condition of the spine where it doesn t develop fully or
properly in the womb. Erika was wheel chair bound by the time she was two or three. This didn t hold
her back. Erika went through over twenty five surgeries in her lifetime. She was often in pain and
needed a caretaker, family, or friend to help with every day care and needs. I moved from Rome when
I was about four years old to the United States. Throughout my life in America I took about five
pleasure trips to Italy to visit family including Erika. She moved from Italy when I was about fourteen
years old to live to be more involved in my life and to be with our mother. My sister was determined
to conquer this life given to her. Erika did many of things to be as independent as

Essay On Frank Romero
A Famous artist named Frank Romero painted a mural in 1984 in the city of Los Angeles he named
this mural Going to the Olympics. In the mural he tries to show the people of Los Angels what they
are known for, in the mural he paints cars with hearts on top to representing that the people of L.A.
love their cars, showing palm trees in between each car. On top he paints what you always see or can
do in L.A he paint a horse, goodyear blimp, men wresting, typical thing that people do in L.A. The
color choices he uses are bright vivid colors try to described Los Angeles and a big bright colorful
city.
In the the painting Romero tries to tell the viewers that one thing that everybody in Los Angeles cares
about is their cars. We know he tries to tell us this because what mostly pops out in the painting is the
cars and the giant heart on top of each car. The colors that Romero has chosen for his painting give a
certain type of mood to the viewers. When I first looked at the painting it gave me a bit of happiness
because his painting does really represent Los Angeles.
Frank Romero had officially finished the mural in 1984. Showing the people of Los Angeles what we
truly love. Few years later taggers began to spray paint over his mural ruining it. The people of Los ...

because they removed the mural without permission. The city could have avoided all this by just

Analysis Of The Poem Porphyria s Lover By Robert...
With so much poetry coming out of Britain it can be hard for any of it to stand out from the rest, but
Porphyria s Lover by Robert Browning and A Poison Tree by William Blake manage to stand out from
other poems. These two poems differ in structure, writing style, and voice but both have something
that sticks them out from the rest; murderers without a moral compass. While murder isn t new to
poetry it is rare to find it as nonchalant as it is in these two poems. These killers were not killing just
because they hated their victims; they were killing because they could and the fact that a life was
ended meant nothing to them. This is why these poems stick out from the rest. The poem Porphyria s
Lover by Robert Browning tells the story of two lovers who were not supposed to be and ends in the
death of one of the lovers. The poem starts with a stormy night and Porphyria, one of the two lovers,
visits her lover in a small cottage. We are given the image of her lover being angry with her by the
way he ignores her. She tries to seduce him by making her smooth white shoulder bare (Browning 17)
and pulling her lovers head against her. Porphyria admitted that although she loved him she was too
weak to give herself completely to him. She claims she thought about him at her dinner feast which
could mean that the reason they couldn t be together was because of class differences. While she told
him what went through her mind he looked at her eyes and claimed that he realized

Reaction Time Lab
In this lab, the team concluded that being distracted with an activity that diverts optical attention away
from the focal point, such as texting, significantly increases reaction time. The other distractors,
including listening to music and talking on a cell phone, had effectively no impact on reaction time in
comparison to having no distraction.
In order convert the distance the meter stick fell into the given unit of time (seconds or hours), the
time equation shown in the sample calculation was used. This equation directly found the reaction
time in seconds, which allowed the team to calculate the reaction time in hours. Dimensional analysis
was used to convert seconds to hours, which resulted in extraordinarily small quantities that warranted
the use of scientific notation.
From there, the team had to determine in each case how far a car traveling at 60 miles per hour would
travel before brakes would be applied. To do this, the team used the equation v=d/t to find distance,
and thus rewriting it as d=vt. This equation determined the distance in miles, prompting the team to
again use dimensional analysis to find the distance in feet.
The data that was tested without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reaction time was constant while listening to music, and was actually .01s shorter while talking on
a cell phone. Texting, however, left both partners completely incapable of catching the meter stick at
all, which only begins to demonstrate the danger of texting while driving. In a real world situation,
you would travel a whopping 38.01ft before applying the breaks (at 60mph), which is much longer
than the 12.03ft you would travel without distraction. Using that data, it was concluded that the only
distractor that had a substantial effect on reaction time was

Percent Copper In Brass
Percent Copper in Brass
I. Introduction Have you ever been to any orchestra show or home improvement store before? If you
have, I m sure you have seen those fancy gold colored instruments or fancy door knobs or faucets
from the home improvement store. Have you ever wondered what they are made up of? They are
made up with the binary alloy called brass. Brass is a binary alloy made up of copper and zinc with an
additional amount of lead and tin(Brass in Focus, Angela Vessey,2004). Its density is known as 8.3 to
8.7 g/cm3, and melting point is 1652 to 1724 °F(Bell,2017). The characteristics of the brass are varied
on the amount of zinc and copper. The higher amount of zinc seems to be cast easier while the lower
amount of zinc can be cold worked easier; high amounts of copper allow the brass to form a patina,
coating of the thin oxide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In real world, we use Beer s law to find out the amount of copper or zinc in the brass. The most
accurate way to find the amount of copper is by drawing a calibration curve. When a calibration curve
is a straight line, we represent it using y=β0+β1x where y is the signal, Sstd, and x is the analyte
concentration, Cstd. The constants β0 and β1 are, respectively, the calibration curve s expected y
intercept and its expected slope. Because of uncertainty in our measurements, the best we can do is to
estimate values for β0 and β1, which we represent as b0 and b1. The goal of a linear regression
analysis is to determine the best estimates for b0 and b1. How we do this depends on the uncertainty
in our measurements(Harvey,2016). Meanwhile, all the brasses share same characteristics of
malleability and ductility. All the brasses are capable of being shaped and can be drawn into a
wire(Brass in focus, Angela Vessey,2004). In the real world, brass is used for decoration, mechanical
applications, as well as for musical instruments. Depends on the copper percentage in brass,

The mechanical properties of the welded joint are determined by the microstructural behavior of
weldmetal [2]. It is well established that alloying elements such as Ti, Ni, B, Mo, Cr etc play an
important role for microstructural development [3]. Therefore, it is very essential to manipulate the
composition of welding consumables for the optimum joint properties. Previous researchers have used
various procedures to manipulate weld metal composition. Two major approaches for improving the
WM properties are to use of different types of flux and another one is to alter WM composition by the
introduce of newer filler material or by metal powder addition in WM [4]. Generally, weldmetal
microstructure of conventional low alloy steel consists of varying amounts of acicular ferrite,
polygonal ferrite, widmanstatten ferrite and M A microphases. It has been reported that the acicular
ferrite provide the optimum microstructure to the welds because of its fine grain size, as well as
dislocation density and reducing crack propagation[2]. One of the useful methods for promoting the
acicular ferrite formation in SAW is the enrichment of various oxides into the flux such as titanium
oxide, zirconium oxide, boron oxide. These oxides in the flux may contribute to different metallic
element dissolution and oxygen into the weld [5]. Evans et al. [6] studied the effect of

The Economic Crisis Of Japan
Introduction Japan enjoyed an Asia s economic miracle that the world witnessed a country that started
out poor and had become the second largest industrial power during the postwar era. However, a large
bubble economy had been irritated by the growth, especially in the stock and asset price markets, the
economy suffered a near catastrophic crash caused by speculative mania(Hall and Von Wiesen, 2014).
The Japanese economy has stagnated after the collapse of bubble economy. The economic situation
has been in a wide deflation. In the last two decades, Japanese government took several measures to
solve the deflation problem and spur the economy. There are fiscal expansion, conventional monetary
measures, Yen depreciation, bank recapitalisation, Quantitative Easing, and three arrows of
Abenomics. But the situation did not change much, the balance sheet of the country shows continuous
economic recession. The paper is organized in the following way. Section 2 briefly describes the
prolonged deflation in Japan. Section 3 evaluates policies proposed by the government and gives some
reasons of unsuccessful policies. Section 4 summarizes the policy implementation. Background The
long lasting deflation exert a tremendous influence in Japan, the persistent decrease in the level of
consumer prices shrunk profits and investments in corporate, wages and consumption in individuals.
This leaded to a further price decline. Such vicious cycle has caused the recovery of Japanese

Shell Oil and the Exploitation of Nigeria Essays
Shell Oil and the Exploitation of Nigeria
Nigeria has been a country in political turmoil for a long time. The country was created in 1914 under
British colonial rule and at that time it was considered a protectorate. It was not until 1960 that Nigeria
received independence from the United Kingdom. One of Nigeria s problems politically is that it has
over three hundred different ethnic groups. The three largest of these are the Hausa Fulani, Igbo, and
Yoruba. At the time of the independence of Nigeria it was split up into three states with each state
being under the control of one of the major ethnic groups. The natural resources of the other 297
ethnic groups were exploited for the major three groups, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

rights for the Ogoni people. His Bill of Rights was completely ignored by the government. He went on
to do peaceful demonstrations against Shell s oil plants where special police forces came in and killed
and injured many Ogoni people. In May 1995 Ken Sao Wiwa and his close MOSOP associates were
accused of the murders of four Ogoni chiefs. Their trial was closed to the public Ken Saro Wiwa s
legal defense resigned saying that the trial was not impartial or independent and no matter what they
would all be found guilty. Ken Saro Wiwa and eight of his close associates were all hanged. Shell has
since spent millions trying to repair the damage they inadvertently caused in Nigeria and the world s
major powers have taken small actions against Nigeria.
Violation of Human Rights, destruction of the environment, and denial of freedom of speech and

Childhood Immunizations and Why Some Children are not Getting Vaccines:

Abstract
Recent outbreaks of measles has promoted renewed interest in childhood vaccinations. However,
lingering doubts about the efficacy and safety of popular and recommended vaccines, specifically the
DTP and MMR vaccines, remain. It is not necessarily the attenuated virus portion of the vaccines, but
the ingredients which assist in the performance of the vaccines, that brings about concern. Some

One reason that is resurging in the media is the notion that vaccines can be linked to autism. In the
middle is the result: cases of measles, mumps and rubella are occurring and populations of children
are at risk to contract these preventable viruses. It is therefore important to examine whether
vaccinations are indeed safe, if such vaccines pose adverse health risks, and exactly what the nature of
reasons are as to why some children do not receive their immunizations. Much of the controversy
initially arose out of a study published originally in 1998.
The Center of the Questions of Vaccine Safety In 1998 Wakefield et al. published the results of a study
in the British Journal Lancet titled Ileal lymphoid nodular hyperplasia, non specific colitis, and
pervasive developmental disorder in children (Wakefield, et al., 1998). What the researchers reported
is the results of a study of 12 children who had been previously healthy, but were now presenting at a
hospital with various complaints. These included a loss of acquired skills including language, and
diarrhea and gastrointestinal pain. These children underwent extensive tests which all returned with
various results. Through the study Wakefield et al. (1998) found a correlation between these children s

Edward Snowden
Gathering of intelligence and espionage has been a fundamental part of American security since the
earliest days of the United States. Shortly after President George Washington took office in 1789, he
petitioned Congress to allocate a secret fund in the State Department budget for the purpose of
gathering foreign intelligence. By George Washington s third year in office, the secret fund was 12
percent of the federal budget. The first permanent intelligence organization the United States
established was the Office of Naval Intelligence in 1882. This organization s task was to gather
information about the military forces of foreign countries. Two years after World War II ended (1945)
congress passed the National Security Act. This gave birth to the modern intelligence apparatus. After
being signed into law by President Harry Truman, the U.S. Department of Defense (made up of all the
U.S. Armed Forces) and the CIA was created. This was created to inform the president on issues of
national security. Over the years, information gathering has become more and more common.
Recently, Edward Snowden showed the world how frequently it was actually happening. Although
many people consider Edward Snowden to be a hero, he is one of the biggest traitors in American
history.

Nietzsche s Views On God And Religion
Friedrich Nietzsche is a very blunt and straightforward philosopher and I was very surprised by his
writings, he is very different from philosophers in general as they do are never so blunt and
straightforward. Nietzsche, unlike other philosophers comes straight to the point whereas philosophers
generally beat around the bush . I found Nietzsche s readings to be very refreshing and interesting, he
had something new to say on the topic of God and religion. Nietzsche is not in favor of the idea that
God exists, in fact, he believes God to be dead. He seems to be not in favor of religions either, he
spoke very ill of them and is very passionately against the whole idea of religions in generally,
especially Christianity. Although I did find Nietzsche s

Timeline of American Beauty Essay
Not long ago, a woman s success was measured by the success of her husband and her domestic
prowess. Today, a woman is presumed successful if she can emulate the standards of beauty portrayed
in the media. Unfortunately, this subliminally enforced standard is unattainable to some women,
regardless of the quality of their character. Let s examine how western women went from being
pioneering superheroes, to people who measure their worth against airbrushed photographs of
impossibly beautiful women.
Timeline of American Beauty

The 1950 s introduced the American housewife. Women in print ads were portrayed in a wholesome,
Donna Reid, manner. They had the figures of a pin up, but these figures were covered with dainty
house dresses.
Health and Beauty
During the 19760 s and 1970 s, models, such as Twiggy, appeared everywhere. Women in print looked
thin to the point of being sick. The hippie movement, and the fashions that came with it, did nothing to
stop this standard. Hippies ate when they could, and were almost always thin. In the early 1980 s,
AIDS reared its ugly head. The general population believed that if a person was thin, he or she may
have the virus. The media began looking for healthier women to use to sell products. In the 1980 s, the
Wilhelmina Modeling Agency found Gia Carangi, the first supermodel. Gia sported a healthy, yet sexy
appearance. Sadly, Gia needed to use drugs to deal with the pressures of maintaining perfection. Sadly,
IV drug use led to her tragic death. On November 18, 1986, 26 year old Gia died of AIDS related
pneumonia.
Social Status
Today, print ads feature women with obvious social status. Veneers over teeth, name brand

Nt1310 Unit 1 Research
In Unit 1 Planning 10, I learned about various web 2.0 tools; e mail (message), wordle, digital
display, video tool, and sound tools. They all help to express yourself but they are used in different
occasions. E mail is used to communicate with a certain people through words. It is very convenient to
talk to someone far away. The advantage of wordle is that you can introduce yourself with just one
logo. Colours, arrangement and style of words involve in the overall impression. Digital display is
great when you want to show photos and pictures together with words. Posters and presentaions can
easily draw peoples attention. The unique point of sound byte is that it only contains sound and there
are no images to support it. Your skill of talking

A Reflection On The Life Of Hereworth Church
It is something of a challenge to write a reflection on the life of the chapel through 2017 when I have
only been there for a small part of it. Suffice it to say that the past year has been one of change and
transition for the role of Chaplain at Hereworth School, and for the life of the chapel. With Reverend
Rosemary Carey s departure at the end of Term Two, the life of the chapel was placed in the hands of
the teaching staff for Term Three, with valiant efforts to continue the spiritual dimension of the school.
While no doubt the experience was enjoyed by staff and students alike, the words uttered to me by one
staff member as I left my first chapel service, Thank God you re here , suggest there is an appreciation
for the unique challenges of the role.
These challenges are what I have been discovering as I have gone, very quickly, through our final term
of 2017. While there are definitely similarities to the parish ministry I was engaged in prior to joining
Hereworth, there are also distinct differences the demographic being a major part of that difference.
How do we translate the great power and truth of our Christian faith into language and practices that
are intelligible and formative for young boys? What are the tools and resources of our faith that not
only form our heritage but the character of those who come under their tutelage? What is it that the
spiritual life of Hereworth School can provide to our boys and our communities that make it
indispensable,

Museum Critique
The art museum I chose to visit is The Frist Center in Nashville. I have been to this museum before,
but I was much younger and do not remember it being so marvelous. The entrance itself is very
fascinating. The designs below the name of the museum really caught my eye, however, they did not
catch my eyes like the eagles on the sides of the building did. Once you are inside of the building, it
was as if I instantly knew I was in for some very elegant artwork. The first exhibit I saw was the
Irving Penn: Beyond Beauty exhibit. The mood of this exhibit to me was back and forth. I liked some
of the pieces and then I did not. In my opinion, Penn was somewhat of a demented artist. The second
exhibit I walked through was Claire Morgan: Stop Me Feeling. ... Show more content on

I have not ever in my life viewed a painting made out of sand, that looked like it was actually painted.
This piece has truly affected the way I view the world. It makes me have a little more passionate
connection with my own religion. The important message that is shown to me in this painting is that
we should not take anything for granted, especially our religion. If the monks can travel across the
world to show a piece of their religion, we should be able to get out of bed and support our religion as
well. This piece definitely reaffirms a religious belief. I think the same affect it had on me, it could
possibly happen to other believers. Everyone perceives art differently, so there is no certainty that
people will be fascinated by it like I was. This mandala relates to my life because like the monks, I am
a religious person. Along with being religious the piece also shows the universe, but on a different
level than we usually see it. The artists decided to work the way they did because the message is more
powerful this way. It sends the message that I stated before of how they have some much passion for
their religion. I am not sure why the monks had to come from the Drepung Loseling Monastery, but I
am positive that serves a purpose as well. Everything that evolved around this painting had a purpose.
I believe it was to show the universe as the monks see it. This piece is extremely different from other
art that

Individual Privacy vs. National Security
Individual Privacy vs. National Security
Individual Privacy vs. National Security is something that many people have argued for years. Many
people have forgotten what a disturbance September 11, 2001 was to everyone in America. This was
the day that 2,992 lives were stolen in the attacks by the Taliban on U.S. soil. Due to this attack the
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) along with the Federal Government has put in place
many new security regulations. Many people have lost touch with why these regulations were put in
place. As well, many people have lost touch with why TSA is using full body scanners and other
security devices. On September 11, 2001 19 members of a global terrorism network called al Qaeda in

The device carried by Abdulmutallab was not detectable by any device in wide spread use at the time,
other than a dog trained to detect bombs with its sense of smell. As a result, advanced imaging
technology (AIT) machinery, also known as full body scanners, were deployed more widely across
America. Even though these full body scanners were recognized by security experts as being better
and more effective at detecting prohibited items than the ordinary metal detectors that had been in use
for decades passengers objected to the new scanners, because they are able to take images through the
subject s clothing, and their alternative, a physical pat down inspection by a TSA security officer
similar to what police officers use to search subjects when they are taken into custody. Critics claim
AIT scanner images and pat downs violate the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which
guarantees the right of citizens to be protected from unreasonable searches, but those same critics have
not offered viable alternatives that would safeguard the traveling public from attacks like those of
Abdulmutallab. In other words, some activists became more focused on safeguarding their personal
privacy and rights at the risk of their personal safety.

Differences Between Gaap And Ifrs
Introduction
There are two distinct methods of accounting for finances in the business world. These two methods
are the methods both prescribed by the U.S., which is known as the generally accepted accounting
principles (GAAP), and that which is used by the international community known as international
financial reporting standards (IFRS). GAAP is regulated by the financial accounting standards board
(FASB) while IFRS is regulated by the international accounting standards board (IASB). These two
methods are currently under a process which is known as convergence or harmonization so that the
United States will eventually become integrated into the global community (Miller, S. E. 2009). This
will cause financial statements to be more usable for more people across the globe as well as enhance
citizens of the U.S. s ability to perform business more efficiently internationally.
Principles Versus Rules Based Methods
There are many challenges and hurdles to overcome in order to achieve harmonization between GAAP
and IFRS. The differences are widespread. Most importantly and fundamentally GAAP is considered
to be more rules based, while principalities are largely what guide the users of IFRS. GAAP
Regulations are more detailed, specific and voluminous. Conversely, IFRS regulations are less
voluminous and make allowance for more exceptions. As an example IFRS allows the reversal of a
write down after the fact while GAAP that when a write down is taken then it is irreversible.

Naivety In Perceval And Parry
Naivety is a common theme that is represented throughout literature and film. Naïve characters have
their hearts open for adventure and long for bravery, but their childlike mindset and ignorance of
reality lead to distrust in their abilities by other characters. Regarding Perceval and Parry, it is evident
that these characters fall under the naïve category of characters. Perceval was raised as a boy in the
country: he lacked knowledge of the world beyond his realm and he was ignorant of knighthood.
Despite his lack of knowledge, he desired to become the greatest knight. In comparison, the character
Parry was introduced as being a crazy homeless man who was convinced that he was a knight; clearly
lacking a true sense of reality. Parry desired

Essay On Cultural Capital
People Like Us The Bay Area is one of the most financially exhaustive places to call home in this
nation, thus it is no surprise to say that even a comfortable living in cities such as Berkeley or San
Francisco places one relatively high on the annual income scale. The city of Berkeley, my hometown,
is an amonole: distinct from other conventionally affluent cities across the country such as Irvine.
Berkeley has always been baked with a splendor of various cultures showcased through the multitude
of ethnicities, advanced tastes in art and music, along with an unapologetic exemplification of the
sense of self whether it may be through clothing, sexual orientation, conduct, etcetera. With this and
Bourdieu s ideas on habitus the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus shaped my specific habitus; a reflection of the comfortably affluent and culturally superfluous
environment. This allowed me and my circle of friends to express our tastes and partake in activities
that we genuinely enjoyed: weekends at the SFMOMA, brunching at La Note, watching ballets at the
Opera House and so on. All of these interests, in order to truly enjoy, requires a level of cultural
capital but it also demands economic capital. But habitus shapes more than just weekend interests. We
all received good grades, which then paved way to a four year university. Our tastes in clothing were
mostly identical. Even our tastes in boys aligned. But a humorous indicator of our shared habitus is
that we are all obsessively thin. If I didn t have money or if I had spent my childhood in Oklahoma,
my tastes, looks, opinions would differ drastically. Thus habitus trains people in my social class and
those in others, to know when someone just is or isn t. And in my hometown, it s culture.
In Berkeley, cultural capital is an indicator of social class; however, modern times have created a new
symbolic struggle ... one that works in reverse. Symbolic struggle is the fight for social dominance. It
is a game reflective of the higher class opinions; the middle class attempts to join in, acknowledging
the standards set by those above them as best , while the lowest class pushes back through affirming
their own identity. Currently there is an

Mesopotamia Changes
Mesopotamia is one of the oldest places where civilizations blossomed. In Greek, the word
mesopotamia means the land between the rivers (Leick, 2003, p. xii) . Mesopotamia was located
between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in what is now known as modern day Iraq. This land was
home to many civilizations dating as far back as 10,000 B.C. (Leick, 2003). Each civilization used the
different type of resources available to them between the two rivers. In the beginning, civilizations
relied mostly on hunting and gathering near the Levantine Coast (Leick, 2003). However, there was a
change from hunting and gathering to cultivating and domesticating animals. According to Van De
Mieroop, the transition was not sudden but rather a slow process

Old Oratorio New Contemporary Christian Music
Old Oratorio New Contemporary Christian Music
Music has always been very important to religion, and the music has always been changing. At the
beginning, the music told a story of a biblical event. The current day music tells a story about life and
how Jesus Christ can fix the problem because he is all powerful. Oratorio is one example of older
religion music. The current type of religion music is called Contemporary Christian music. There is a
lot of different types between these two. Oratorio and Contemporary music differs a lot; however, they
both speak about the perfect Jesus Christ, but that is about all they have in commons. Oratorio music
was very sacred music in its time. It was very sacred; however, it was not played during church. They
were played more for concerts. Oratorio had three different parts that was in every piece. Those three
parts would consist of a choir, soloist, and orchestra. Every piece comes from a biblical story. The
most famous composer from the Baroque ere, the era that oratorio was played, was George Frideric
Handel. A few of his most famous pieces came from the subjects, Israel in Egypt, Jephtha, Judas, Saul,
and Messiah (Baily 169). Contemporary Christian music is the complete opposite of Oratorio music.
Contemporary music consist of stories about having a relationship with Jesus Christ, biblical
inerrancy, and spreading Gods holy word. They take the form of hard rock, dance pop, and hip hop

Social The growth in demand for passengers seeking low cost airlines for cheaper fares is an opportunity for budget airlines. People are living a better standard of life with declining inequality of incomes made up mostly of middle class income people. People are also more well travelled, experienced and seek new destinations with the growth of vacation property (Goeldner and Ritchie, 2009). • 5. The Three Concepts Of Donald Davidson s Anomalous Monism Donald Davidson s Mental Events, challenges how we discuss mind body interactions. The thesis presented by Davidson, is that of Anomalous Monism, which attempts to answer the causality of mental and physical events. Differing from forms of the more common Dualism, Davidson accepts monism as the best way to describe the mind body relationship. Meaning he accepts token identity and rejects type identity. Davidson s argument consists of three key principles. The first being the Principle of Causal Interaction which states that at least some mental events interact causally with physical events. The second is the Principle of the Nomological Character of Causality, where there is causality there must be law (Deterministic law). The third is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essentially, he is saying that the mental physical relationship is dependent on an identity that is not connected by psycho physical laws but on the properties of the two terms. Thus, The Principle of Causal Interaction states that at least some mental events interact causally with physical events. Therefore, the principle is saying that some mental events do not causally interact with physical ones, which differentiates Anomalous monism from other theories on psycho physical causation. The Principle of the Nomological Character of Causality, is Davidson s second principle for Anomalous monism. As we review the next two principles we will run into many seemingly contradicting points that can be argued in favor anEd against Davidson s Anomalous monism. The second principle states that, where there is causality, there must be law: events related as cause and effect fall under strict deterministic laws. Right away we can recognize the contradiction with the first principle of causal interaction. According to the first principle of casual interaction there are no psycho physical laws in which we can define mental and physical term, but in the second principle it relies on strict deterministic laws. The principles appear to begin to contradict each other but Davidson depend on his specific explanations to make sense of his seemingly opposing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How he was hot tempered and did things that were crazy when he didn t get his way. My mom and his relationship has always been tense. From what I ve seen, and from what she has told me. When she got shot by him that day, it proved to me that she was right. It was just a normal day. My mother sister, and I, driving around. My uncle had called and told us how he had gotten a new pit bull puppy, and he invited us over to come see it. We arrive, and this puppy is the cutest pup I ve ever seen. She was brindle with blue eyes. My mom wanted to talk to my uncle about us keeping her. While lying on the couch playing with the puppy, I look over and see my mom, sister, aunt and uncle sitting on the other couch. We were laughing, smiling, telling jokes. You wouldn t think a bad thing would ever happen in the room. I know my mother and uncles relationship, an argument was bound to spark over something simple. They began their routine of arguing back and forth. Meanwhile, from what I could understand, they were fighting about the pup. Now, I know that might sound outrageous but, the arguing continues. I aspire to be just like my sister, Erika, for her optimism, everlasting joy, and determination. No matter what life through at her she always remained happy. Erika is my symbol of everything I want to be. Erika was born in Rome, Italy just like me in 1986. She lived in Italy for the majority of her life and enjoyed many things. Such as Italian cuisine, dancing, blogging, exploring, and spending time with her friends. She loved horses and her favorite color is purple. Erika was born with spina bifida. Spina bifida is a condition of the spine where it doesn t develop fully or properly in the womb. Erika was wheel chair bound by the time she was two or three. This didn t hold her back. Erika went through over twenty five surgeries in her lifetime. She was often in pain and needed a caretaker, family, or friend to help with every day care and needs. I moved from Rome when I was about four years old to the United States. Throughout my life in America I took about five pleasure trips to Italy to visit family including Erika. • 9. Analysis Of The Poem Porphyria s Lover By Robert... With so much poetry coming out of Britain it can be hard for any of it to stand out from the rest, but Porphyria s Lover by Robert Browning and A Poison Tree by William Blake manage to stand out from other poems. These two poems differ in structure, writing style, and voice but both have something that sticks them out from the rest; murderers without a moral compass. While murder isn t new to poetry it is rare to find it as nonchalant as it is in these two poems. These killers were not killing just because they hated their victims; they were killing because they could and the fact that a life was ended meant nothing to them. This is why these poems stick out from the rest. The poem Porphyria s Lover by Robert Browning tells the story of two lovers who were not supposed to be and ends in the death of one of the lovers. The poem starts with a stormy night and Porphyria, one of the two lovers, visits her lover in a small cottage. We are given the image of her lover being angry with her by the way he ignores her. She tries to seduce him by making her smooth white shoulder bare (Browning 17) and pulling her lovers head against her. Porphyria admitted that although she loved him she was too weak to give herself completely to him. She claims she thought about him at her dinner feast which could mean that the reason they couldn t be together was because of class differences. While she told him what went through her mind he looked at her eyes and claimed that he realized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Reaction Time Lab In this lab, the team concluded that being distracted with an activity that diverts optical attention away from the focal point, such as texting, significantly increases reaction time. The other distractors, including listening to music and talking on a cell phone, had effectively no impact on reaction time in comparison to having no distraction. In order convert the distance the meter stick fell into the given unit of time (seconds or hours), the time equation shown in the sample calculation was used. This equation directly found the reaction time in seconds, which allowed the team to calculate the reaction time in hours. Dimensional analysis was used to convert seconds to hours, which resulted in extraordinarily small quantities that warranted the use of scientific notation. From there, the team had to determine in each case how far a car traveling at 60 miles per hour would travel before brakes would be applied. To do this, the team used the equation v=d/t to find distance, and thus rewriting it as d=vt. This equation determined the distance in miles, prompting the team to again use dimensional analysis to find the distance in feet. The data that was tested without ... • 11. Percent Copper In Brass Percent Copper in Brass I. Introduction Have you ever been to any orchestra show or home improvement store before? If you have, I m sure you have seen those fancy gold colored instruments or fancy door knobs or faucets from the home improvement store. Have you ever wondered what they are made up of? They are made up with the binary alloy called brass. Brass is a binary alloy made up of copper and zinc with an additional amount of lead and tin(Brass in Focus, Angela Vessey,2004). Its density is known as 8.3 to 8.7 g/cm3, and melting point is 1652 to 1724 °F(Bell,2017). The characteristics of the brass are varied on the amount of zinc and copper. The higher amount of zinc seems to be cast easier while the lower amount of zinc can be cold worked easier; high amounts of copper allow the brass to form a patina, coating of the thin oxide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In real world, we use Beer s law to find out the amount of copper or zinc in the brass. The most accurate way to find the amount of copper is by drawing a calibration curve. When a calibration curve is a straight line, we represent it using y=β0+β1x where y is the signal, Sstd, and x is the analyte concentration, Cstd. The constants β0 and β1 are, respectively, the calibration curve s expected y intercept and its expected slope. Because of uncertainty in our measurements, the best we can do is to estimate values for β0 and β1, which we represent as b0 and b1. The goal of a linear regression analysis is to determine the best estimates for b0 and b1. How we do this depends on the uncertainty in our measurements(Harvey,2016). Meanwhile, all the brasses share same characteristics of malleability and ductility. All the brasses are capable of being shaped and can be drawn into a wire(Brass in focus, Angela Vessey,2004). In the real world, brass is used for decoration, mechanical applications, as well as for musical instruments. Depends on the copper percentage in brass, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The mechanical properties of the welded joint are determined by the microstructural behavior of weldmetal [2]. It is well established that alloying elements such as Ti, Ni, B, Mo, Cr etc play an important role for microstructural development [3]. Therefore, it is very essential to manipulate the composition of welding consumables for the optimum joint properties. Previous researchers have used various procedures to manipulate weld metal composition. Two major approaches for improving the WM properties are to use of different types of flux and another one is to alter WM composition by the introduce of newer filler material or by metal powder addition in WM [4]. Generally, weldmetal microstructure of conventional low alloy steel consists of varying amounts of acicular ferrite, polygonal ferrite, widmanstatten ferrite and M A microphases. It has been reported that the acicular ferrite provide the optimum microstructure to the welds because of its fine grain size, as well as dislocation density and reducing crack propagation[2]. One of the useful methods for promoting the acicular ferrite formation in SAW is the enrichment of various oxides into the flux such as titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, boron oxide. These oxides in the flux may contribute to different metallic element dissolution and oxygen into the weld [5]. Evans et al. [6] studied the effect of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Economic Crisis Of Japan Introduction Japan enjoyed an Asia s economic miracle that the world witnessed a country that started out poor and had become the second largest industrial power during the postwar era. However, a large bubble economy had been irritated by the growth, especially in the stock and asset price markets, the economy suffered a near catastrophic crash caused by speculative mania(Hall and Von Wiesen, 2014). The Japanese economy has stagnated after the collapse of bubble economy. The economic situation has been in a wide deflation. In the last two decades, Japanese government took several measures to solve the deflation problem and spur the economy. There are fiscal expansion, conventional monetary measures, Yen depreciation, bank recapitalisation, Quantitative Easing, and three arrows of Abenomics. But the situation did not change much, the balance sheet of the country shows continuous economic recession. The paper is organized in the following way. Section 2 briefly describes the prolonged deflation in Japan. Section 3 evaluates policies proposed by the government and gives some reasons of unsuccessful policies. Section 4 summarizes the policy implementation. Background The long lasting deflation exert a tremendous influence in Japan, the persistent decrease in the level of consumer prices shrunk profits and investments in corporate, wages and consumption in individuals. In the middle is the result: cases of measles, mumps and rubella are occurring and populations of children are at risk to contract these preventable viruses. It is therefore important to examine whether vaccinations are indeed safe, if such vaccines pose adverse health risks, and exactly what the nature of reasons are as to why some children do not receive their immunizations. Much of the controversy initially arose out of a study published originally in 1998. The Center of the Questions of Vaccine Safety In 1998 Wakefield et al. published the results of a study in the British Journal Lancet titled Ileal lymphoid nodular hyperplasia, non specific colitis, and pervasive developmental disorder in children (Wakefield, et al., 1998). What the researchers reported is the results of a study of 12 children who had been previously healthy, but were now presenting at a hospital with various complaints. These included a loss of acquired skills including language, and diarrhea and gastrointestinal pain. These children underwent extensive tests which all returned with various results. • 18. Edward Snowden Gathering of intelligence and espionage has been a fundamental part of American security since the earliest days of the United States. Shortly after President George Washington took office in 1789, he petitioned Congress to allocate a secret fund in the State Department budget for the purpose of gathering foreign intelligence. By George Washington s third year in office, the secret fund was 12 percent of the federal budget. The first permanent intelligence organization the United States established was the Office of Naval Intelligence in 1882. This organization s task was to gather information about the military forces of foreign countries. Two years after World War II ended (1945) congress passed the National Security Act. This gave birth to the modern intelligence apparatus. After being signed into law by President Harry Truman, the U.S. Department of Defense (made up of all the U.S. Armed Forces) and the CIA was created. This was created to inform the president on issues of national security. Over the years, information gathering has become more and more common. Recently, Edward Snowden showed the world how frequently it was actually happening. Although many people consider Edward Snowden to be a hero, he is one of the biggest traitors in American history. Nietzsche s Views On God And Religion Friedrich Nietzsche is a very blunt and straightforward philosopher and I was very surprised by his writings, he is very different from philosophers in general as they do are never so blunt and straightforward. Nietzsche, unlike other philosophers comes straight to the point whereas philosophers generally beat around the bush . I found Nietzsche s readings to be very refreshing and interesting, he had something new to say on the topic of God and religion. Nietzsche is not in favor of the idea that God exists, in fact, he believes God to be dead. • 22. Timeline of American Beauty Essay Not long ago, a woman s success was measured by the success of her husband and her domestic prowess. Today, a woman is presumed successful if she can emulate the standards of beauty portrayed in the media. Unfortunately, this subliminally enforced standard is unattainable to some women, regardless of the quality of their character. Let s examine how western women went from being pioneering superheroes, to people who measure their worth against airbrushed photographs of impossibly beautiful women. Some pin ups were printed to advertise a product, while others were printed as calendars or centerfolds for the soldiers serving in World War II. Pin up icons, such as Marilyn Monroe, began their careers this way. As of 2010, these women still set the par for American beauty standards. The 1950 s introduced the American housewife. Women in print ads were portrayed in a wholesome, Donna Reid, manner. They had the figures of a pin up, but these figures were covered with dainty house dresses. Health and Beauty During the 19760 s and 1970 s, models, such as Twiggy, appeared everywhere. Women in print looked thin to the point of being sick. The hippie movement, and the fashions that came with it, did nothing to stop this standard. Hippies ate when they could, and were almost always thin. In the early 1980 s, AIDS reared its ugly head. The general population believed that if a person was thin, he or she may have the virus. The media began looking for healthier women to use to sell products. In the 1980 s, the Wilhelmina Modeling Agency found Gia Carangi, the first supermodel. Gia sported a healthy, yet sexy appearance. • 25. A Reflection On The Life Of Hereworth Church It is something of a challenge to write a reflection on the life of the chapel through 2017 when I have only been there for a small part of it. Suffice it to say that the past year has been one of change and transition for the role of Chaplain at Hereworth School, and for the life of the chapel. With Reverend Rosemary Carey s departure at the end of Term Two, the life of the chapel was placed in the hands of the teaching staff for Term Three, with valiant efforts to continue the spiritual dimension of the school. While no doubt the experience was enjoyed by staff and students alike, the words uttered to me by one staff member as I left my first chapel service, Thank God you re here , suggest there is an appreciation for the unique challenges of the role. These challenges are what I have been discovering as I have gone, very quickly, through our final term of 2017. While there are definitely similarities to the parish ministry I was engaged in prior to joining Hereworth, there are also distinct differences the demographic being a major part of that difference. If the monks can travel across the world to show a piece of their religion, we should be able to get out of bed and support our religion as well. This piece definitely reaffirms a religious belief. I think the same affect it had on me, it could possibly happen to other believers. Everyone perceives art differently, so there is no certainty that people will be fascinated by it like I was. Even though these full body scanners were recognized by security experts as being better and more effective at detecting prohibited items than the ordinary metal detectors that had been in use for decades passengers objected to the new scanners, because they are able to take images through the subject s clothing, and their alternative, a physical pat down inspection by a TSA security officer similar to what police officers use to search subjects when they are taken into custody. Critics claim AIT scanner images and pat downs violate the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees the right of citizens to be protected from unreasonable searches, but those same critics have not offered viable alternatives that would safeguard the traveling public from attacks like those of Abdulmutallab. • 30. Differences Between Gaap And Ifrs Introduction There are two distinct methods of accounting for finances in the business world. These two methods are the methods both prescribed by the U.S., which is known as the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and that which is used by the international community known as international financial reporting standards (IFRS). GAAP is regulated by the financial accounting standards board (FASB) while IFRS is regulated by the international accounting standards board (IASB). These two methods are currently under a process which is known as convergence or harmonization so that the United States will eventually become integrated into the global community (Miller, S. E. 2009). This will cause financial statements to be more usable for more people across the globe as well as enhance citizens of the U.S. s ability to perform business more efficiently internationally. Principles Versus Rules Based Methods There are many challenges and hurdles to overcome in order to achieve harmonization between GAAP and IFRS. The differences are widespread. Most importantly and fundamentally GAAP is considered to be more rules based, while principalities are largely what guide the users of IFRS. GAAP Regulations are more detailed, specific and voluminous. Conversely, IFRS regulations are less voluminous and make allowance for more exceptions. As an example IFRS allows the reversal of a write down after the fact while GAAP that when a write down is taken then it is irreversible. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Berkeley has always been baked with a splendor of various cultures showcased through the multitude of ethnicities, advanced tastes in art and music, along with an unapologetic exemplification of the sense of self whether it may be through clothing, sexual orientation, conduct, etcetera. All of these interests, in order to truly enjoy, requires a level of cultural capital but it also demands economic capital. But habitus shapes more than just weekend interests. We all received good grades, which then paved way to a four year university. Our tastes in clothing were mostly identical. Even our tastes in boys aligned. But a humorous indicator of our shared habitus is that we are all obsessively thin. • 34. Old Oratorio New Contemporary Christian Music Old Oratorio New Contemporary Christian Music Music has always been very important to religion, and the music has always been changing. At the beginning, the music told a story of a biblical event. The current day music tells a story about life and how Jesus Christ can fix the problem because he is all powerful. Oratorio is one example of older religion music. The current type of religion music is called Contemporary Christian music. There is a lot of different types between these two. Oratorio and Contemporary music differs a lot; however, they both speak about the perfect Jesus Christ, but that is about all they have in commons. Oratorio music was very sacred music in its time. It was very sacred; however, it was not played during church. They were played more for concerts. Oratorio had three different parts that was in every piece. Those three parts would consist of a choir, soloist, and orchestra. Every piece comes from a biblical story. The most famous composer from the Baroque ere, the era that oratorio was played, was George Frideric Handel. A few of his most famous pieces came from the subjects, Israel in Egypt, Jephtha, Judas, Saul, and Messiah (Baily 169). Contemporary Christian music is the complete opposite of Oratorio music.
