greatest asset to incorporate into their lives would be solitude. Solitude brings much needed quiet
time where humans are free to talk to the Creator of the Universe about anything they want and be
humbled by the Lord's presence. Although solitude can be perceived as boring and pointless, this

The discipline of solitude has withstood the test of time from the Old Testament to the modern world
today. As Christians currently still read the Bible, Richard Foster, a Christian theologian and author
points out an example of Jesus using solitude in Matthew 26, "As he prepared for his highest and
most holy work, Jesus sought the solitude of the garden of Gethsemane" (97). The biggest history

Comparing these two texts there are several similarities in the way God responds to the humans
violating the covenant. Firstly, the most significant similarity is how God punishes them. Despite the
Lord being so angry and upset at the people breaking his covenant he doesn't take out all of his

Verbal tracking is another skill I would like to say is one of my strengths. I understand the
importance of listening. This is the one skill that I have tried to hone. At first I noticed myself
interjecting my own ideas and stories, taking over conversations and making them about me. When I
became aware of this, I began listening more to others. Verbal tracking has made me a better listener
and I feel that I am better at following my client's train of thought. Limitations Though I have
strengths, I am aware of my various limitations. To being with, I willingly admit that I am not great
at challenging others during a counseling session. At times I do not know how to challenge the
individual. In the past I have come off judgmental and pushy. This has caused me to become more

The lack of discipline is an act that heavily contributes. Allowing people to do whatever they want
without consequences at hand is a very inconsiderate thing to do. It'll let them think what they are

In The Lords of Discipline, Pat Conroy develops a complex personality in the character of "Tradd
St. Croix." (Conroy 22) Tradd is a character overwhelmed by insecurities and through a variety of
reasons, is made to stay quiet about them. These insecurities and the restraint from expressing his
true feelings are what the artist's representation of Tradd presents to us, through a variety of visuals,
which show the artist's opinion of Tradd's innocence in the situation.
What first strikes the viewer about this image is its bizarre depiction of Tradd, shirtless, crying, and
chained by a collar. What this shows is Tradd's situation in life, wherein he is "chained" to the high–
class St. Croix family. They bind him, and submit him to their will, despite what he wants for
himself. Tradd would most like to be with his friends and to enjoy their company, but because of his
position in the society of Charleston, he is held to certain values and traditions that prevent him from
enjoying his life for his own. An example of this would be Tradd's membership in "The Ten," a
secret organization which seeks to cast out those they find unworthy from the school. Tradd does not
join this group of his own volition, rather he is forced into it by his being a member of the St. Croix
family. As Tradd put it, "It was my heritage again, Will. I've never earned a single thing in my life
on my own merits. Everything is because my name is Tradd St. Croix." (551) Tradd feels he has a
duty to uphold family tradition, but also longs to join his friends, thus resulting in his being chained.
This chaining is what leads to the sadness on Tradd's face in the image. This conflict between his
familial obligations and the straining of his relationship with his friends is what causes Tradd so
much torment, and leads to his sadness.
What next sticks out about the image is the background depiction of the four silhouettes. Due to the
somewhat ambiguous nature of these shadowy figures, there are multiple interpretations one can

because they knew that a lord would be desperate to grow and harvest his crops. So the lords started
