The most notable example of a global human rights regime is the United Nations, and an example of
regional human rights would be the OAS ( Organization of American States). Both entities have
focuses that are quite similar and intersecting. The main goal of the UN is displayed in article 1 of the
UN Charter which states to maintain international peace and security . Primary concerns of the UN are
security, humanitarian assistance, development, and human rights which is recognized in the Universal
Declaration of Rights by the UN. However, before there was the UN declaration there was the
American Declaration on the Rights and Duties of Man .
Despite the similarities both institutions possess there are differences that are apparent in the utilitarian
function of each. The UN has a universal influence and system of play, and the OAS plays a smaller
role looking over only its specific geographical region of the Americas. While both aim to influence
policy and the promotion of human rights there are advantages that come with their differences. The

are some sects of communities, such as the Latter Day Saints, that accept the practice. In contrast,
polygamy is not exactly commended, but is prevalent in Senegal. In the film, several male characters

Another difference between the American and Senegalese conception of marriage is gender roles. It
appears that in Senegalese culture women are to be subservient to their husband. In other words, Kine

in the media, violence against women, the wage gap, etc.). Lastly, American and Senegalese culture

without children. Furthermore, an unmarried/separated parents have certain legal responsibilities in

encapsulated all aspects of her life and the feeling that death is the only escape. This journey of poor

main causes of money problems. First, neither Kate nor Tanner knew each other spending habits. They

Introduction: How d He Do That? The recognition of patterns makes it much easier to read
complicated literature because recognizing patterns will help you relate two or more pieces of
literature together, therefore making it easier to understand and analyze the literature you are focused
on. Patterns in literature can help the reader understand plots, settings, themes, and other literary
elements. I greatly appreciated the novel, Brave New World because of how different the society in
the novel was from the one I live in. Using the Signposts from Notice and Note, I was able to see
contrast and contradictions that enhanced my understanding of the book. I noticed how I was
expecting Bernard, in Brave New World to be just like everybody else in the novel but instead he was
a normal person that felt normal human emotions, such as the longing for love, that the other
