Scavenger Hunt Assignment
From my consideration the most useful or applicable to me in completing the scavenger hunt
assignment s two concepts were link people to needed services and competent workforce. Link people
to needed services is very essential because it is the foundation of the Public Health. It is the place
where start to contribute all the privileges of living longer and healthier by obtains access of health
services; community health centers; clinics; effective care for socially disadvantaged to people and
their communities, which will help maintain health, wellness, socioeconomic, race, gender, and
cooperation in societies. For example, if the country or community don t provide the Link people to

King Hades Research Paper
Hades was born on the island of Crete to Cronus and Rhea. When Hades was just an infant, he was
devoured by Cronus to prevent a prophecy. This prophecy stated that Cronus would be overthrown by
his children as the new rulers. Eventually, Hades and his siblings were freed by Zeus and Cronus was
overthrown. Hades went on to become the God of the Dead and King of the Underworld.
Hades was a bitter middle aged man whose heart softened once he saw Persephone, the daughter of
Zeus and Demeter. So he kidnapped her and brought her down into the Underworld. Demeter had
become infuriated with Hades and released her anger on the earth in the form of a time where no crops
should grow. Meanwhile, Persephone ate six pomegranate seeds which made her want

Synthetic Proteins And Cellular Components Essay
Now with the GFP in the lysate solution with other soluble proteins and cellular components, we need
a strong and specific process that targets only the GFP and not the other parts of the mixture. This
strong and specific process used is called affinity chromatography, in which one substance can be
purified by using its specific interaction with another substance. In this case, GFP has six histidines at
its N terminus which can easily bond to Ni2+and this interaction can be used to purify the GFP from
the lysate by using a Ni NTA column. This Ni NTA column allows for solutions to follow through
except components that can easily bond to the immobilized Ni2+ ion in the column s silica matrix.
Before we could use the Ni NTA column, we had to equilibrate it by adding some binding buffer to the
column that washes and prepares the column and then centrifuge. After the column is ready for use,
the bacterial lysate can be added to the column, with some left for later analysis. The column is then
centrifuged in order for the mixture to flow through the matrix and separate those components that can
bind to Ni2+ (not necessarily only GFP) and those that simply flowed through. The liquid from the
collection tube is collected and transferred into a tube and labeled F for flow through (Figure 1, lane
F). At this point the GFP is bound to Ni2+ in the matrix of the Ni NTA column, however it is not
alone. Many other proteins and cellular components may have bound to the column as well due

Why Do Minor Disagreements
With such a diverse society, comprised of multi cultural ties, one has to work amongst people groups
whose views and beliefs differ from yours on a scale to minor disagreement to radical dissenting
opinions. Fortunately for me I have not had a major conflict with people I work with, however I have
had to work with many people where minor disagreements arose. Some of these venues include a
summer camp that I had attended, at an ACSM conference where I presented my topic, and even at
school working on projects. In the summer camp environment there was a group which I was assigned
to, and in that group we were assigned a task to complete as a team. The task delegated to us was a
physical task that required precise coordination between each individual

The Lakers Game Analysis
The (3 21) Los Angeles Lakers are back in the city of angels to host the (10 15) Milwaukee Bucks.
Tonight s game, the Bucks first of a Western Conference road trip, hoping to utilize the energy and
effort displayed in their 108 95 upset win over the Golden State Warriors as a catalyst for success. As
a matter of fact, both the Warriors and Bucks, were playing on the second night of back to back
games, to say nothing of the weary Warriors also playing the last game of a seven game road trip. The
Lakers lead the all time series (79 49) against the Bucks, 50 13 at the Staples Center. Los Angeles lost
the two game season series to Milwaukee (0 2) in the 2013 14 season and split the season series (1 1)
in 2014 15. In their last 10 games against Milwaukee, the Lakers are 4 6 ... Show more content on

Lakers Head Coach has bought into the less actually equals more approach in regards to Kobe Bryant
s playing time in addition to the young players playing extended minutes and closing out games. D
Angelo Russell and Julius Randle will continue to come off the bench, unless Jordan Clarkson s ankle
keeps him on the bench. Julius Randle has struggled coming off the bench, hopefully Randle will
realize that he is being scouted and must alter his approach and set up in the painted area, being left
handed attack more going to his right and not settle for jumpshots. The Bucks size, length and
athleticism will present a problem for the Lakers. Offensively, the Lakers need a solid performance
moving, passing and cutting to make the Bucks defense work as well as find the open shot.
Defensively, the purple and gold must get back in transition, stop the ball, do a solid job against the
pick and roll play, surround Greg Monroe and make him play in a crowd, quickly rotate out to open
shooters, limit the Bucks to one shot per possession, box their men out and

Mary s Role In Religion
Imagine yourself as a young girl of only twelve and on a cold night in Nazareth, an angel from God
appears and asks you a question that would change the rest of your life. This is exactly what had
happened to Mary. She had a choice to answer yes or no and she chose the hardest path. Mary is
important in history because she was the accepted God s invitation to be the mother of Jesus, and
devoted her life to God. She also raised, taught, and influenced our Savior. Mary was born in circa 20
B.C. in Nazareth, Israel. There was no exact month or date that she was born, but the Catholic Church
celebrates her birthday on the eighth of September. Mary also had a very loving and caring family. Her
parents encouraged her and taught her that her religion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the Rosary. A Rosary is a string of beads that are used to count prayers to Mary. It was originally a
garland of roses and roses are associated with the Virgin Mary. How did the Rosary originate? The
Rosary originated in the year of 1214 when St. Dominic gave the Church the Rosary as a present. St.

Summary Of The UF SOTD And Tilted Windmills
The UF SOTD and Tilted Windmills Theatricals did a remarkable job at presenting The Magnificent
Revengers by Matt Cox. The production uniquely presented the play by allowing the audience to
interact actively through technology. The technology used in the production made the play
unpredictable and entertaining. Nicole Cannon s fluid acting, Director Kristin McCarthy Parker s
casting and blocking choices, and Set Designer Colton Spurlock s set arrangements are key
components that contributed to the success of the production. Nicole Cannon did a spectacular job at
playing the role of Dorothy Kelly in the production through her effective dialogue delivery and body
language. At the beginning of the show, she said her lines in an uncertain and doubtful manner. For
instance, she stuttered and paused many times when she talked to Jonny Triumph (as John Kelly) and
tried to convince him that she may not be the right person to take his revenge. Through this
uncertainty in her tone, she displayed the innocent and unworldly aspect of Dorothy Kelly. As the
show was nearing the climax, she successfully displayed confidence and hunger for revenge in her
voice by speaking louder and with boldness. Through the confidence in her voice, she portrayed
another aspect of Dorothy Kelly; one that was desperate to take her brother s revenge and save her
town. Her body language was also effective in displaying the different emotional states of her
character. For instance, when she was dueling with Thiago Palma (as Mozie Thompson) and was
deciding whether to shoot him or not, she shook her hands steadily while holding the trigger and
twitched her eyes constantly to show anxiousness and hesitancy that Dorothy felt within her. Cannon
also fluidly transitioned between different body movements to make her acting realistic. She
particularly displayed this fluidity in the camping scene when she talked to Katherine Haeuser (as
Mysterious stranger). At first, she sat down with her legs crossed and then she slowly transitioned
towards the sleeping position. She did this so smoothly that it did not appear forced or instantaneous.
Moreover, Director Kristin McCarthy Parker s casting and blocking choices also contributed to the
success of the

A Brief Note On The Water Treatment Systems
Water treatment systems The groundwater source is from GoldCentury gold mine, whereby excess
groundwater is pumped out of mine at a maximum volumetric flow rate of 477L/s. It contains
contaminants such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), heavy metal impurities, sulphates,
bicarbonates, microorganisms, dissolved minerals and objectionable gases, but focuses on the removal
of dissolved inorganic contaminants such as calcium and iron. The most prevalent dissolved minerals
which are Calcium and Magnesium, also known as hardness, can be removed by precipitation,
requiring softening steps. The purification system designed is based more on efficiency over cost
effectiveness. The purpose of treating the groundwater in this assignment, is to purify it to drinking
standards to hydrate mineworkers underground during heated, intense mine work operations, and for
operating certain equipment and tools. Figure 1: Mine groundwater treatment plant schematic Figure 1
shows the following unit operations: A settling tank is installed to allow large particles such as to settle
so that they can easily be removed. The retention time is around 30 minutes or 0.5 hours. Aeration
removes excess and objectable gases. A packed tower stripping system is used which removes 99.95%
(or 179.91mg/L) of VOCs. This process also reduces the pH of the water and has a retention time of
22.716 minutes (0.3786hr). Chemical precipitation is performed on larger molecules which make up
the suspended solids

Leukocyte Intravascular Crawling Through Intravital...
Leukocyte intravascular crawling has only recently been identified as a key step in leukocyte
recruitment. Leukocyte intravascular crawling occurs after firm adhesion and before transmigration in
the leukocyte recruitment cascade. At a speed of 5 20um/min, leukocyte intravascular crawling
involves the lateral migration of leukocytes along the luminal surface of the endothelium, which may
assist in immune surveillance as well as searching for suitable sites for endothelial crossing (Shulman
et al, 2009). In order for the leukocytes to crawl, they must possess resistance against the shear flow of
blood, and this is achieved by the β2 integrins Mac 1 and LFA 1 and the α4 integrins VLA 4 and α4β7.
As leukocytes move, they display resistance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is often used in conjunction with epifluorescence and involves the use of long wavelengths to excite
fluorophores, which are fluorescent chemical compounds that light up upon excitation, in the tissue of
interest (Mempel, 2004). These techniques have shed light on the crawling at a molecular level,
including the importance of integrins.
The integrins MAC 1 and/or LFA 1 are the two integrins that have been identified in contributing to
crawling (Phillipson et al, 2006). The process of crawling is first triggered by chemokines, which
activate Rho and Rap 1 families, which in turn stimulate LFA 1 and/or MAC 1 to initiate crawling.
Using LFA 1 as an example, the activation of LFA 1 confers high affinity to the adhesion molecule,
ICAM 1. The high affinity LFA 1 engages with ICAM 1 focal dot points which is a crucial step for
resistance. The integrin LFA 1 must then be able to adjust its binding strength to ICAM 1 in order for
crawling to occur, whereby the leading edge is continuously creating new bonds whilst the back bonds
are being displaced (Shulman, 2009). Adhesive filopodia, which are projections into the endothelium,
are then generated to allow the crawling leukocyte to probe the endothelium for suitable
transendothelial migration in a millipede like motion (Shulman, 2009).
Mutational studies in these integrins, combined with IVM have revealed the

What Is Mlk Legacy
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a caring and passionate leader and symbol for change, provided inspiration
to encourage the integration of the American society, with the inequality for the colored people. To
fully appreciate MLK s legacy, one has to understand his importance during the American Civil Rights
Movement. The American Civil War was growing, which could have very likely led to the fall of the
strongest nation in the world.
MLK knew that the nation would fall if we kept fighting. His solution averted a war between the
races. During the Cold War, the Soviets would have loved the fighting that was taking place in
America. Dr. King prevented violent actions that could have very seriously weakened America. Today,
America has a remembrance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first building block that he talks about was to determine whether injustices are alive. If a
corruption is found and flourishing, the society as a whole must correct the injustice with peace. A
society cannot look away and justify an action that could be damaging to a population. People must
study the fairness of capital distribution within their communities. For example, on present day
minimum wage, can someone live at a standard that they would desire? Do we find suffering within
that group? A society that answers yes to these questions must come to the conclusion that corruptions
are still here today. The second building block Dr. King described is self purification. MLK, one of six
colored people who were among hundreds at the integrated Crozer Theological Seminary, had to go
through the self purification process. A activist for change has to go through a process where an sync
occurs, with the catalyst and society that has to be changed. The catalyst must know their
preconceptions, prejudice, and feelings towards the ones who they try to change. When the activist has
reached a certain level of self purification, they can start adding on to the the next

Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility Essay...
Business ethics and corporate social responsibility have become an increasing area of focus for
organizations today. However, this has not always been the case in the American business
environment. Chapter three Conducting Business Ethically and Responsibly (R.W. Griffin R.J. Ebert,
p.56 p.87) concentrates on the development of ethical codes of conduct as it relates to business. The
chapter also focuses on the social responsibility an organization holds in relation to everyday decision
making. Ethics and social responsibility go hand in hand. Ethics affects individuals or groups within
the workplace, whereas social responsibility refers to the overall route in which a company decides to
balance its involvement with employees, stake ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has been working world wide to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment
opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue in handling work related issues (ILO,
2008). In an attempt to comply with ILO standards, companies like GE are now joining organizations
like the Business Leaders Initiative on Humans Rights (BLIHR) who s goal is to create practical ways
of applying the aspirations of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights within a business context
and to inspire other businesses to do likewise (BLIHR, 2008). Since American Civil War, business
practices, attitudes and norms have evolved over time for the most part. The evolution has progressed
from obstructionist, to defensive, to accommodative to the now increasingly accepted proactive
stance. This change in approach to social responsibility is directly related to the change in
American/World values and culture. Over this same period of time institutions like slavery,
colonialism, segregation, sexism, child labor and other questionable and /or abusive business practices
have fallen by the wayside. As civilization has positively evolved, so have ethical standards and
attitudes toward social responsibility. The way in which businesses function does in fact depend on

The Out of Sight Transformation
Travel has always been associated with relaxation and enjoyment. People travel to explore new or
revisit favorite places. The idea that travel could also be a conduit for self growth and awareness,as
discussed in the article Transformative Travel,is a very new concept but old tradition. Various
religious groups send people across the world as missionaries. Missionary work was identified as a
group involvement. everyone on the mission fulfilled the same purpose. Transformative travel is a
combination of mission work and travel of leisure except it is based on an individual s personal goal.

Binary Trading And Binary Derivatives
In this paper, you will learn about binary Trading. I will discuss what is binary trading, and how it s
done. How it differs from regular stock market trading. The technological aspect of it. Then lastly
where it s at now.
Binary Trading is the trading of Binary Options. Binary Options are a type option where the payoff
depends on both the price levels of the strike and the underlying asset, like standard options. If you
have a Binary Option contract you are saying that the market price of the item you are investing in is
higher than the strike price, and the market price does go above the strike price. Then you are in the
money or True . The buyer of the contract would receive a fixed payout amount per contract. If it does

Binary Options are so much different than day trading on the stock market. It offers flexibility. The
three primary differences are expiration time, payout, and how it is executed.
First , the expiration time is a big difference. Binary options can be made to be short term as short as a
one hour expiration time. This means that with multiple expiration times investors can make an instant
profit on their binary options and can become more flexible in their option investments. The
expiration times can be weekly, monthly,or even longer terms.
Secondly, the payouts are different than day trading. With regular day trading, an investor pays per
contract. Subsequently, the investor will profit or lose an amount depending on the number of points
difference between the expiration level and the strike price. In binary options the win or lose outcome
is set ahead of time. The investor knows how much he or she is going to win or lose before they enter
the trade. This can be a serious edge in regular day trading.
Third, expiration is different between binary options and regular day trading. The investor has to hold
onto his binary option until the agreed upon expiration time. This means that when looking and
purchasing options contracts he cannot sell them once they are purchased. Although there are some
brokers who do allow the selling of contracts once they have been purchased.

The Causes And Consequences Of Grade Inflation
Grade inflation has been a widespread issue that has been affecting many institutions. It may be in a
way where the instructor raises a students grade by one letter, or by raising a failing grade to a passing
grade. Many colleges and universities to this day use the typical letter grading system which is
A,B,C,D,F. Some universities, on the other hand feel that this grading system is under estimating
students intelligence and abilities. Also, many universities are suffering from the problem of grades
that are expanding. Professors and teachers who over evaluate the quality of the student s work or
assignment and consequently assign a grade higher than what the student deserves mainly cause the
problem. Causes that might cause grade inflation is portrayed through personal motives, target of
getting an A grade and avoiding an F and students being in competition with their classmates.
One of the causes of grade inflation is portrayed through personal motives or high expectations from
parents to their children. Many parents put pressure on their children to get good grades. As a result,
the children demand to get A s to meet one of their parents expectations, which is to good a good job.
They get motivated to only get the best of grades. This later becomes a students personal motive. The
students get motivated by letter grades and believe that an A is the only acceptable grade and a
doorway to a brighter future. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ain t I a Woman Speech Analysis Draft
The truth is powerful and it will prevail. This quote was composed by Isabelle Baumfree, a solid
African American pioneer. She believed that truth is so strong that it cannot be hindered, and it will
eventually be known. Ms. Baumfree had the powers to express and motivate people on what she
believes in through her words and wisdom. Isabelle Baumfree wrote one of the most famous women
right s speeches known today called, Ain t I a Women , in which she uses purpose, audience, content,
tone, and structure to get her message across.
To begin with, the speaker of Ain t I a Women is Isabelle Baumfree. Isabelle Baumfree was born in
Hurley, New York on 1797. Unfortunately, she was born into slaves, and like most slaves, she
experienced the agonies by being brutally beaten and abused. As indicated in her biography, In late
1826, she escaped to freedom with her infant daughter, Sophia. Her other daughter and son stayed
behind. (Biography.com). In 1827, she at long last turns out to be free when New York abolished
slavery. As the vast majority perceive her today, she changed her name to Sojourner Truth. Ms. Truth
becomes a well know activist not only for women s rights but as well for civils rights. As indicated by
the National Historic Park in New York, At the 1851 Women s Rights Convention held in Akron,

Power Of Joseph Stalin
Following the death of Lenin in January 1924, Joseph Stalin emerged as the vital dictator of Russia in
February; he ruled the Soviet Union like a personal fiefdom. He aimed to transform the Union of
Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) from a backwards agriculture society into a great industrial
totalitarian nation, which he believed was essential if Russia was to survive in a world of powerful and
hostile capitalist states (Todd Allan 2001). Stalin claimed that
The major priority should be to consolidate the Marxian socialist system with the USSR and make the
country strong again (Cowie. H.R, 1992).
Stalin subsequently based the organisation of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Government
(CPSUG) on the principles of democratic centralism, aiming to achieve the dictatorship of the
proletariat (Payton Rousseau). According to Payton Rousseau, under Stain s reign, the CPSUG and
Soviet Government were two separate bodies, however, almost all high government officials were
Bolsheviks party members. It was this system of interlocking dual membership that enabled the CPSU
to both make and enforce policy (Payton Rousseau). This level of government authority allowed Stalin
to enact any policy he saw necessary, as he was the leading General Secretary and by the late 1930 s
Joseph Stalin was exercising as much power, in as authoritarian a manner, as the Tsars had done
before him (Cowie. H.R, 1992). This idea coincides with a comment made in 1974 by Alexander

Abstract
Accounting is used for several purposes. Investors, creditors, and individuals use accounting to see
whether a business is successful or not. Managers and employees use accounting to make decisions on
certain objectives. There are four main statements used in accounting: The balance sheet, income
statement, the statement of retained earnings, and the statement of cash flow. The equation for
accounting is assets equal equity plus liabilities. The equation must always balance out.
The Basic Principles of Accounting A business uses accounting to record all financial transactions a
business has made. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Debits and credits do not mean debits decrease an account or credits increase an account. Debit and
credit can increase or decrease an account. (Editorial Board, 2011).
Assets, liabilities, equity, revenue, and expenses has their own balance. A company will produce a trial
balance which will give the balance of all these in a certain amount of time such as monthly, quarterly,
or annually. The trial balance ensures that account balance is accurate. If the accounting equation isn t
balanced out then there is an error in the accounting records.
The final process of accounting is producing financial statements. The first statement is the income
statement. The income statement shows a company s profit or loss after revenue and expenses. The
equation for the income statement is revenue minus expenses equal net income. The next statement
produced is the statement of retained earnings. The statement of retained earnings starts out with the
net income retrieved from the income statement, which is added to the beginning retained earnings
from the previous month then subtracts the money paid out. The last document is the balance sheet. A
balance sheet contains a more detailed statement of each account balance. (Tracy, 2008).
A certain standard of moral and professional ethics should be kept in accounting. If professional ethics
are not met, some consequences may be faced. These

3. In the second paragraph, highlight three or four things that qualify you for the position. This is done
most effectively if you have called the employer ahead of time and asked them to identify the major
duties, and skills required for the position. A job description will frequently list 10 or 20 duties, but
most of your time will be spent on four or five tasks. Find out what those tasks are so you can focus
this paragraph on your experience and/or skills related to those items.
4. The third paragraph, if you choose to use it, can describe additional skills, or you can focus on why
you want to work for that employer. If you choose to flatter the employer, you need to be sincere and
specific. Again, it s most effective if you ve contacted the employer before preparing your cover letter
and resume. From what you told me when we spoke on the phone, it sounds like your company is just
the kind of place I d like to work.
5. The final paragraph should close with thanks and a request for action, or a statement of what action

salesperson is expected to be assertive, and ask for the sale. In a large organization, asking for the sale

Bohr Model
Postulates of Dalton s Atomic Theory
The main points of Dalton s atomic theory, an explanation of the structure of matter in terms of
different combinations of very small particles, are given by the following postulates:
1. All matter is composed of indivisible atoms. An atom is an extremely small particle of matter that
retains its identity during chemical reactions.
2. An element is a type of matter composed of only one kind of atom, each atom of a given kind
having the same properties. Mass is one such property. Thus, the atoms of a given element have a
characteristic mass.
3. A compound is a type of matter composed of atoms of two or more elements chemically combined
in fixed proportions. The relative numbers of any two kinds of ... Show more content on

Main Points of the Bohr Sommerfeld Model: Electrons are revolving around the nucleus not only in
circular paths but also in some electrical paths. These energy gaps are so close that normal machine

We can explain the multiplicity of hydrogen Atom via this model.
According to quantum mechanics, each electron in an atom is described by four different quantum
numbers, three of which (n, l, and ml) specify the wave function that gives the probability of finding
the electron at various points in space. lt; A wave function for an electron in an atom is called an
atomic orbital. An atomic orbital is pictured qualitatively by describing the region of space where
there is high probability of finding the electrons. The atomic orbital so pictured has a definite shape. A
fourth quantum number (ms) refers to a magnetic property of electrons called spin. We first look at
quantum numbers, then at atomic orbitals.
Quantum numbers: Numbers to state the exact position of an electron inside an atom are called
Quantum numbers. 1. Principal Quantum Number (n): this quantum number is the one on which The
energy of an electron in an atom principally depends; it can have any positive value: 1, 2, 3, and so on.

Electoral College Voting System
It s interesting to notice that in those four disputed elections of 1800, 1824, 1876 and 1960, the winner
of the popular vote didn t become President because they weren t the winners of the Electoral College
votes. The first two instances were mainly due to an unorganized system because of the early
establishment. However, there is a recurring pattern in the later elections.
In 1800, the problem was that the electors had two votes, one for President and one for the Vice
President, which, based on the outcome, resulted in the adoption of the 12th Amendment which
ensured that a tied vote for President wouldn t happen again. In the 1824 election resulted in the
creation of two political parties which were the Democratic and the Whig parties.

A Brief Note On The Documentary Program Essay
Documentary Program Essay I have met so many people who have given me a new perspective to
look at the world, who struck me with their values and characteristics, who have become inspirations
in my stories. I would like to tell stories that reflect certain problems and bring awareness to the
society. Here is a story that I would like to explore in depth: For decades, the phenomena of human
trafficking and smuggling in China have never stopped. While poor women and children were
trafficked for sexual exploitation and adoption, many young men were voluntarily smuggled to the
West due to their belief in having a richer and better life overseas . People pay money to the
snakeheads who have connections overseas and be shipped in cargo ships: some died of suffocation
during the journey, and some were detained in prisons and deported. Fujian, a southern province, has
been a hotbed of trafficking and smuggling in China. For more than a century, Fujianese had been
moving to the West both legally and illegally. Death or bitter lives have never taken away their desires
to earn money and prestige, but they have been living a hard life that outsiders could never have
imagined, and they would never be the insiders of these western countries.

In Queens, there is a huge community of Chinese immigrants. Many of the people were smuggled into
the United States. These people live in a grey area: they are separated from their families and couldn t

Depravity In Lord Of The Flies Essay
Our world is full of vicious, hazardous and dangerous aspects of life, but if there is anything we
should be afraid of most, it is ourselves. William Golding s 1954 World War II novel, Lord of the
Flies, revolves around a group of English schoolboys whose plane crashes on an island after being
shot out of the sky. The wilderness and lack of pre existing society prompts them to develop a
civilization, but things turn sour and man s malign nature quickly takes hold. The Lord of the Flies is
not a physical being or object, but a representation of the idea that all humans are inherently evil and
deep rooted with masochistic, selfish instincts. Before one can understand how the Lord of the Flies
represents innate evil, it is important that the three constituents of man s depravity are explored. The
first of these elements is the conversion from civilization to savagery. During an assembly among the
boys on the island, they go back and forth talking while the others listen. Order recedes and there is a

the spear, and the savage doubled up (Golding 195). Amidst a merciless chase, both sides completely
lose all civility and become ferocious animals. They transform into beasts and aim to kill. Signs of
order are nowhere to be found, only the bloodlust of a group of raging berserkers. Man s evil has
reached its apex and the intensity of it could not be higher. This part of human nature is at its most

Questions and Hypotheses
Introduction: Cells contain a number of different organelles, specialized structures living within
cells(Mcallister and Leicht 2017). When a cell tissue is grinded down and mixed into a soupy mixture,
the organelles can be separated using a process called centrifugation. The soupy mixture is placed in a
centrifuge which spins the mixture at high speeds. This results in the denser and heavier organelles
ending up in the bottom the the tube which is called the pellet. The lighter and less dense organelles
remain in the liquid portion called the supernatant. This process can be repeated many
times(Mcallister and Leicht 2017). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hypothesis for experiment 1: The hypothesis for experiment 1 was that cell fraction pellet 2 would
contain the most chloroplasts. Figure 2C on page 43 in the lab notebook shows that centrifugation of a
plant cell resulting in 3 pellets will result in the second pellet containing the most chloroplasts because
it is lighter and less dense when compared to nuclei and amyloplasts but more dense than
mitochondria(Mcallister and Leicht 43). We created 2 pellets so it would make sense that the last
pellet will contain the most chloroplasts.
Question for experiment 2: Using the cell fraction that was identified in the previous experiment as
containing the most chloroplasts, how much effect will diuron, an herbicide used in Iowa, have on the

Reflection On Math
Math has many different categories within itself and for this project, we had to observe and solve
problems on certain college placement tests. There were many college placement tests to chooses from
but I wanted to choose the college I want to go to and the test that I wanted to answer. I chose the
Monmouth Mathematics Placement Test and Barton College Practice
Placement Test. For each one, we had to categorize how many questions were in each type of math
whether it was algebra, geometry, or calculus. The Barton test had 64 geometry problems and 16
trigonometry problems while the Monmouth test had 50 problems which were all algebra.
I answered the Barton test because I liked the different variety of algebra problems it was consisted of.
The Monmouth test I will do at a future date because that is where I wanna go and it will help me
practice math and help me pass their placement test. I was actually surprised about both of their tests
because I thought they were gonna be a lot harder. Most of the problems seemed like Algebra 1 and I
believe I have excelled in that since freshman year. They both had problems on their tests that were
very easy and I did them fast and efficiently. A couple problems were hard since I haven t had a
refresher on that section of trigonometry, but if I studied, I would have easily gotten them right. I felt
confident with these tests because even if i had only gotten a couple wrong, I would have still easily
passed. Also, it was even easier since

The Transmission Line Cable Model
Thus, components like a mast or bridge girder can be analysed more comprehensively with

motion of a vibrating cable utilized in a transmission line [20]. The model has been created for a
transmission line cable with each of the end at a similar height, and by neglecting inertia in the
longitudinal direction. Since the displacement of the every end have been restricted, the model can t
be connected for analysis of cable supported structures. A simple transmission line cable model was
basically created in the present work, which can be used efficiently to determine a different kind of
types of cable structures like suspension bridges , guyed towers , , cable stayed bridges etc . The

The Song Dynasty
My Journal of the Song
Entry# 1: Good day journal, I have ventured further into my research on the Song Dynasty, I have
learned very much about the landscape, geographical features, and much more like some major epochs
of their time and even some quotes directly from some of the people living there. To start the song
dynasty lasted from 960 to 1279 A.D. they lasted 319 years Their climate had a very diverse range,
ranges from tropical in south and subtropical in the north. The terrain is mostly mountains, high
plateaus, deserts in the west, plains, deltas, and hills in the east. (Embry 4). This is what I observed
and mentally noted while I was touring the Song Dynasty. Emperor Taizu began reigning in the year
960. His capital was in Kaifeng. During his 16 years of rule, he instituted successful policies and won
his wars of expansion (Wu 7). This was something that a local had told me about emperor Taizu. He

An Ironic Reversal of Professional Perspective in Medical Ethics

McKee is a gifted, however, arrogant, and self centered surgeon who cares little about the emotional

It also goes against the requirement of a medical committee member to promote education regarding
medical ethical matters and also to assess and provide patient care by demonstrating a respect for
patient rights. However, despite Dr. McKeen s callous attitude towards his patients, I believe he would
follow the principle of beneficence, a supporting theory about the value of avoiding harm and helping
others. Although he treated his patients in a lackadaisical manner, he demonstrated his gifted surgical
abilities with the ultimate goal to heal them. Even when he is diagnosed with cancer and scheduled to
receive radiation therapy, he s concerned about missing his scheduled surgeries and continues to go to
work despite his sickness. In the beginning of the movie, Dr McKee was an egoist. Even though he
performed the kind actions of operating on people and saving their lives, he was only acting in his
own interest. He didn t actually care about the patients. On his way walking into a scheduled
operation, he stated A surgeon s job is to cut. Caring is all about time. I d rather cut straight, and care
less. He believed he had a right to his own interest, which was to do his job, and care only about his
interests, which is exactly how egoists think. Towards the end of the film, he turns into

Addressing Crohn s Disease
When a person has one, it doesn t mean that by this time next week, it will go away. It means that they

thought, often too large in scale for anyone to truly take seriously. Crohn s Disease is one of those
diseases that is improperly evaluated by the general public. Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Seantrel
Henderson battles it daily, yet is currently serving a 10 game suspension from the NFL for cannabis
use. Why is there such a disconnect between people who suffer from the disease and the doctors who
treat them, and the general public who believe those taking the drug are using it as an excuse to get

to combat Crohn s. In Henderson s case, he has tried to explain his use. Finding what works is by far
the hardest part of it all. At one point, I was taking 30+ pills a day to battle the disease and it caused
permanent damage to my liver in the process. If Henderson using a natural, plant based method to
treat his disease is the solution to his problem, what is the NFL trying to stop here? Not only is it

The Importance Of Looking Before You Leap Essay
The Importance of Looking Before You Leap Media portrays romantic relationships as a whirlwind of
emotions that ends in a happily ever after in the course of a few days; children s movies are a larger
perpetrator of this idea. But how accurate is this to real life relationships? Research, including John
Van Epp s book How to Avoid Falling in Love with a Jerk, tells us that a healthy relationship is built
on more than the initial emotions we feel. In chapter one of How to Avoid Falling in Love with a Jerk,
Epp discusses the importance of the love is blind phenomenon where we either one, don t know how
to identify predictors of relationship dissatisfaction or two, become so attached to someone that we
minimize predictors in the belief that things will get better. The love is blind phenomenon causes
discourse between the heart and mind, two things that need to be harmonious in order for a healthy
relationship. Epp also discusses the predictors of (dis)satisfaction in order to find a partner that
complements us and identify things that could result in potential problems in the relationship. For the
first chapter, I found the predictors to be the most interesting point in this chapter. Epp identified five
categories that seemed to play a large role in marital satisfaction and they are compatibility potential,
relationship skills, patterns from other relationships, family patterns and background, and character
and conscience traits. Compatibility potential is the similarities

The Golden State of Mind is Dried And Cracked
It s hard to imagine what life would be like without easily accessible and plentiful water. Humans use
water in many different ways for a number of important reasons, so the current drought that s taking
place in California is a big deal. Last year, during an outdoor speech, California governor Jerry Brown
made this statement: Today we are standing on dry grass where there should be five feet of snow. This
historic drought demands unprecedented action, therefore, I m issuing an executive order mandating
substantial water reductions across our state . California is home to 27 million acres of farmland and
38 million people, so this problem is widespread and could be devastating nationwide. Everyone from
farmers in somewhat rural areas, to residents in the middle of huge cities feel the repercussions of the
drought. The issue at hand is very complex and multidimensional, but can be thoroughly explained by
answering these key questions:
What is happening?
Why is this important?
What is being done to solve this issue?
What can still be done to solve this issue? The drought is a huge problem that won t go away without
certain changes, so understanding the various aspects of California s current drought is the only way to
fix what could be a catastrophe for the entire nation.

60 Minutes King Solomon
60 Minutes: King Solomon Edition Wealth, a lengthy lifespan, the death of his enemies, countless

unimaginable wealth and honor as well. Regarded by many as the most intellectually gifted person in
history, this son of King David led Israel to a period of great prosperity. While there are many
historical figures whom I look up to, due to his wisdom, discernment, and leadership abilities, King
Solomon would be the person whom I would choose to spend an hour with conversing. Wisdom and

Theatre Of The Absurd Summary
According to The Theatre of the Absurd began with American and European writers around the mid
1950 s to 60 s. Influenced by the recent World War II, the heartache and depression that came over a
multitude of societies raised questions surrounding the point of life. In conjunction, the Theatre of the
Absurd set to challenge the human condition and created existentialist (the belief that there is no
greater influential power and that meaning is created through ones own free will) views and opinions.
In that regard, it challenged the existence of God, and forced people to create their own morals. The
Theatre of the Absurd also focused largely on looking through a philosophical paradigm. Sometimes
appearing as there is no plot to the play, the Theatre of the Absurd had non linear plot developments
and went against general theatre conventions. Things that were considered a structure of human life
such as time, place and identity were often distorted to an extent where the characters became
confused on where they were or who they were, and therefore easily fell out of the rhythm of normal
life and the way that people generally live. Movement also played a major part in the Theatre of the
Absurd using conventions such as repetition and ritualistic choreography. The dialogue used very
similar techniques including repetition but also used cliché, pauses and often words that made no
sense to the audience. Although the Theatre of the Absurd generally made little to no sense to

Global Warming And The Green House Effect
With a world that is constantly changing and evolving everyday, there still remains one unsettling
factor that consistently surfaces. Global warming or the green house effect, specifically the field of
atmospheric and oceanic temperatures rising caused by human activity, or anthropomorphic climate
change. This idea in society was only a superstition, but scientists believe that this once fabled tale has
turned into a reality because of our over production of carbon dioxide as well as other greenhouse
gases. With dramatic spikes in the production of green house gases within the last 100 years, it has
become incredibly hard to deny the threat of anthropomorphic climate change and its diverse effects

Two effects contribute to the retention of the heat within the walls: the first is the translucent material
receives solar energy (light form) from an outside source that causes the green house to heat while
simultaneously emitting infrared radiation from inside the walls that cannot dissipate easily because it
is trapped within a barrier. The second is the translucent material creates a solid barrier that traps the
hot air created from within to be confined, thus causing the temperature of the green house to rise.
This concept of the way a green house works applies directly to the way the world is heating, the only
difference is in the case of our planet, instead of a translucent material trapping infrared radiation it is
greenhouse gases. These gases effect the light s intensity, atmospheric and oceanic temperatures, and
even vegetation. This in turn affects all forms of life on our planet.
Nevertheless, not all gases cause global warming and disrupt the fragile balance of our atmosphere. In
fact the main few, like methane and water vapors, are even very surprising because they ve been

as well as human activity; however, there are specific habits and practices that dramatically increase

montaigne and descartes on doubting Essay example
Montaigne and Descartes
Montaigne and Descartes both made use of a philosophical method that focused on the use of doubt to
make discoveries about themselves and the world around them. However, they doubted different
things. Descartes doubted all his previous knowledge from his senses, while Montaigne doubted that
there were any absolute certainties in knowledge. Although they both began their philosophical
processes by doubting, Montaigne doubting a constant static self, and Descartes doubted that anything
existed at all, Descartes was able to move past that doubt to find one indubitably certainty, I think,
therefore I am .

Through his philosophical search Descartes was able to find one indubitable certainty, that we are
thinking beings. We always think, even when we have doubts that we are thinking we are still thinking
because a doubt is a thought. Although Descartes found this one universal truth, he was still not able
to believe in anything but the fact that he was a thinking being. Therefore he still doubted everything
around him. He used this one certainty to try to find a system of knowledge about everything in the
world. Descartes idea was to propose a hypothesis about something. For example he might say that a
perfect being was in existence. He would go around this thought in a methodical way, doubting it, all
the while trying to identify it as a certainty. Doubting everything was at first dangerous because in
doubting everything he was also admitting that he doubted the existence of God, and thus opposing
the church. However he made it a point to tell us at the beginning of his Discourse on Methods that
what he was writing was only for himself and that he expected no one but himself to follow it
(Descartes 14, 15). Descartes eventually managed to prove the existence of a higher being. He said
that since he had the idea of a perfect being, then that perfect being must exist. His

Heidi Daub The Celtic Cross
Out of all the pieces that were a part of Heidi Daub s collection, this was the piece that kept drawing
me back. At first you couldn t see it, because there was the viewing screen in front of it, and then
when the screen was taken down, this canvas was behind it, and it honestly blew me away. The first
thing that my eye went to was the infinity symbol that was painted in blue. In my senior year, I studied
about the Celtics, and in my studies, I learned about The Celtic Cross. The Cross was quite literally a
cross and in the middle of it, there was a circle. It is said that the Celtics believed it to mean that there
was a passageway between heaven and earth. The Cross was thought to be based off of the infinity
symbol, representing spiritual

Much Ado About Nothing Quote Analysis
In the evaluation of the third act of the play, Much Ado About Nothing written by William
Shakespeare, it is clear and evident that one quote stands out among all the others to show the most
meaning and the most important to the vitality of the third act of the play. In the text, Shakespeare
states, The word is too good to paint out her wickedness. I could say she were worse. Think you of a
worse title, and I will fit her to it. Wonder not till further warrant. Go but with me tonight, you shall
see her chamber window entered, even the night before her wedding day. If you love her then,
tomorrow wed her. But it would better fit your honor to change your mind (3.2.102 109). When Don
John, the play s infamous villian, decides to trick Claudio into thinking that Hero is disloyal, it
demonstrates the overall feeling of sabotage in the third act, all in combination with the lie that Don
John has created and released among the other characters to try and inflict sadness on the fiancé of
Hero, or Claudio. Overall, the critiacal aspect of this quote to the endurance of the rest of the act is
obviously vital to the continuity of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Earlier in the play, a scene was described where Borachio and Don John plan to trick Claudio into
thinking that Hero is diwsloyal because of a man in her chamber the night prior to her wedding. After
the stated quote, the intent is to try and trick Claudio and show that Hero is disloyal when she is
actually not. This quote presents significance by describing the overall trait of the entire act and scene
which is the trickery and sabotage of Borachio and Don John upon the hapiness of all of the other
characters in the play. Overall, the previouly described scene, in part with an already confused
Claudio, makes this quote important to the wedding of Claudio and

Edwin, because your disability during the month of December, you were not able to accumulate
anough work for this period, you did not accumulate any rework numbers. However part of the quality
section of your monthly coaching form is your full house compliance and hope your whole house in
range. Currently for the month of February your score 96.9% in whole house complaints in 100% in
whole house in range. Your two new yearly averages are 93.4 and 98.7% respectively. currently you
are falling below on whole house compliance. Although these two percentages are difficult to
accomplish, you are within a very close range to meeting both goals. I have the confidence, that you
will reach the necessary goals by the end of this year.
Edwin, unfortunately your CSAT this month was 86.7%. This is going to be an area that we all have to
focus in 2016. Based on what I ve seen with other technicians, if you get a good score in CSAT this
will also transpire to your productivity and your rework. It is simple to understand. Because you take
care of the customer this will require that you generate additional points, and customer satisfaction,
while maintaining high quality of work. In turn, this will also make your productivity and your rework
better. I look forward to working with you in improving and increasing this percentage in the
upcoming months. Currently your are 98% CSAT overall. The new ... Show more content on

Benefits Of Fibromyalgia
Is Juicing Helpful for Fibromyalgia Symptoms?
From fad to fabulous, juicing has run the gamut. The health nuts of the 1970s touted juice cleanses for
detoxing the body. Like snake oil in past eras, juicing was claimed to cure everything from psoriasis
and cancer to old age, with weight loss thrown in as a side effect.
Yet, hippie types aren t responsible for the one size fits all diet vogue. Ayurvedic practitioners have
incorporated juice therapy in their practice for 5000 years. Also, the Master Cleanse juicing fast,
developed in the 1940s by Stanley Burroughs, naturopath is still in use today.
But is juicing helpful for fibromyalgia symptoms?
Good to Know
Will juicing cure fibromyalgia? Not likely. However, health care professionals are beginning to see the
value of juice therapy for symptoms of fibromyalgia. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of course, kale must be eaten to attain the full benefits of fiber. It is an excellent anti inflammatory.
Green vegetables don t generate a lot of juice, so add veggies with a higher water content such as
carrots, cucumbers and celery. Celery helps ease joint pain. It s too bland as a stand alone juice; celery
blends well with any vegetable juice.
Top Juicing Fruits
Cherries contain natural melatonin, which promotes quality sleep. They are power packed with pain
relievers called anthocyanins aka nature s anti inflammatories.
Pineapple contains bromelain, which is a digestive enzyme that decreases pain and swelling of
fibromyalgia. It also ramps up the body s creation of collagen that aids in relief of painful, achy joints.
When you juice bitter greens, add pineapple for sweetening.
Cantaloupe is a marvelous fruit for weight loss and it is chock full of phytonutrients, which serve as
anti inflammatories.
Bottom Line
Juicing is helpful for fibromyalgia symptoms. It is also the most auspicious way to saturate your body
with vital nutrients from living

Characteristics Of Japan, Korea And China
Japan, Korea, and China uphold a certain notoriety that categorizes them as one distinctive idea of
Asia. Despite the fact that each of these countries heavily contribute to the political, societal, and
cultural aspects of Eastern civilization, the individual characteristics of Japan, Korea, and China
highlight their vast variation. The parallels between these three countries derive from pre modern
Chinese customs that heavily influenced Japan and Korea, ultimately impacting their linguistic and
intellectual technicalities. As a result, many Japanese and Korean societal aspects greatly resembled
those found in Chinese culture, primarily by virtue of proximity. Alliances and various forms of trade
between China and its neighbors subsequently developed, thus contributing to the Chinese influence;
however, these actions, while promoting cultural unity, failed to entirely dominate the distinctive
aspects of both Japan and Korea. Both countries have since upheld their own idiosyncrasies that
further classify them as individual nations. Pre modern Chinese lifestyle substantially impacted Japan
and Korean culture through nearby affiliations; regardless, both countries managed to maintain their
own political organizations, social structures, and cultural traditions. An ultimate goal for any country
or civilization revolves around the idea of establishing a coherent, yet diverse political system.
However, many challenges arise around the fact that certain aspects of any government

This prophecy stated that Cronus would be overthrown by his children as the new rulers. Eventually, Hades and his siblings were freed by Zeus and Cronus was overthrown. Hades went on to become the God of the Dead and King of the Underworld. Hades was a bitter middle aged man whose heart softened once he saw Persephone, the daughter of Zeus and Demeter. So he kidnapped her and brought her down into the Underworld. Demeter had become infuriated with Hades and released her anger on the earth in the form of a time where no crops should grow. • 4. Synthetic Proteins And Cellular Components Essay Now with the GFP in the lysate solution with other soluble proteins and cellular components, we need a strong and specific process that targets only the GFP and not the other parts of the mixture. This strong and specific process used is called affinity chromatography, in which one substance can be purified by using its specific interaction with another substance. In this case, GFP has six histidines at its N terminus which can easily bond to Ni2+and this interaction can be used to purify the GFP from the lysate by using a Ni NTA column. This Ni NTA column allows for solutions to follow through except components that can easily bond to the immobilized Ni2+ ion in the column s silica matrix. Before we could use the Ni NTA column, we had to equilibrate it by adding some binding buffer to the column that washes and prepares the column and then centrifuge. After the column is ready for use, the bacterial lysate can be added to the column, with some left for later analysis. The column is then centrifuged in order for the mixture to flow through the matrix and separate those components that can bind to Ni2+ (not necessarily only GFP) and those that simply flowed through. The liquid from the collection tube is collected and transferred into a tube and labeled F for flow through (Figure 1, lane F). At this point the GFP is bound to Ni2+ in the matrix of the Ni NTA column, however it is not alone. Many other proteins and cellular components may have bound to the column as well due ... Fortunately for me I have not had a major conflict with people I work with, however I have had to work with many people where minor disagreements arose. Some of these venues include a summer camp that I had attended, at an ACSM conference where I presented my topic, and even at school working on projects. In the summer camp environment there was a group which I was assigned to, and in that group we were assigned a task to complete as a team. Tonight s game, the Bucks first of a Western Conference road trip, hoping to utilize the energy and effort displayed in their 108 95 upset win over the Golden State Warriors as a catalyst for success. As a matter of fact, both the Warriors and Bucks, were playing on the second night of back to back games, to say nothing of the weary Warriors also playing the last game of a seven game road trip. The Lakers lead the all time series (79 49) against the Bucks, 50 13 at the Staples Center. • 7. Mary s Role In Religion Imagine yourself as a young girl of only twelve and on a cold night in Nazareth, an angel from God appears and asks you a question that would change the rest of your life. This is exactly what had happened to Mary. She had a choice to answer yes or no and she chose the hardest path. Mary is important in history because she was the accepted God s invitation to be the mother of Jesus, and devoted her life to God. She also raised, taught, and influenced our Savior. Mary was born in circa 20 B.C. in Nazareth, Israel. There was no exact month or date that she was born, but the Catholic Church celebrates her birthday on the eighth of September. • 8. Summary Of The UF SOTD And Tilted Windmills The UF SOTD and Tilted Windmills Theatricals did a remarkable job at presenting The Magnificent Revengers by Matt Cox. The production uniquely presented the play by allowing the audience to interact actively through technology. The technology used in the production made the play unpredictable and entertaining. Nicole Cannon s fluid acting, Director Kristin McCarthy Parker s casting and blocking choices, and Set Designer Colton Spurlock s set arrangements are key components that contributed to the success of the production. Nicole Cannon did a spectacular job at playing the role of Dorothy Kelly in the production through her effective dialogue delivery and body language. At the beginning of the show, she said her lines in an uncertain and doubtful manner. For instance, she stuttered and paused many times when she talked to Jonny Triumph (as John Kelly) and tried to convince him that she may not be the right person to take his revenge. Through this uncertainty in her tone, she displayed the innocent and unworldly aspect of Dorothy Kelly. As the show was nearing the climax, she successfully displayed confidence and hunger for revenge in her voice by speaking louder and with boldness. Through the confidence in her voice, she portrayed another aspect of Dorothy Kelly; one that was desperate to take her brother s revenge and save her town. Her body language was also effective in displaying the different emotional states of her character. For instance, when she was dueling with Thiago Palma (as Mozie Thompson) and was deciding whether to shoot him or not, she shook her hands steadily while holding the trigger and twitched her eyes constantly to show anxiousness and hesitancy that Dorothy felt within her. Cannon also fluidly transitioned between different body movements to make her acting realistic. She particularly displayed this fluidity in the camping scene when she talked to Katherine Haeuser (as Mysterious stranger). At first, she sat down with her legs crossed and then she slowly transitioned towards the sleeping position. She did this so smoothly that it did not appear forced or instantaneous. Moreover, Director Kristin McCarthy Parker s casting and blocking choices also contributed to the success of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. A Brief Note On The Water Treatment Systems Water treatment systems The groundwater source is from GoldCentury gold mine, whereby excess groundwater is pumped out of mine at a maximum volumetric flow rate of 477L/s. It contains contaminants such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), heavy metal impurities, sulphates, bicarbonates, microorganisms, dissolved minerals and objectionable gases, but focuses on the removal of dissolved inorganic contaminants such as calcium and iron. The most prevalent dissolved minerals which are Calcium and Magnesium, also known as hardness, can be removed by precipitation, requiring softening steps. The purification system designed is based more on efficiency over cost effectiveness. The purpose of treating the groundwater in this assignment, is to purify it to drinking standards to hydrate mineworkers underground during heated, intense mine work operations, and for operating certain equipment and tools. Figure 1: Mine groundwater treatment plant schematic Figure 1 shows the following unit operations: A settling tank is installed to allow large particles such as to settle so that they can easily be removed. The retention time is around 30 minutes or 0.5 hours. Aeration removes excess and objectable gases. A packed tower stripping system is used which removes 99.95% (or 179.91mg/L) of VOCs. This process also reduces the pH of the water and has a retention time of 22.716 minutes (0.3786hr). Chemical precipitation is performed on larger molecules which make up the suspended solids ... • 11. Leukocyte Intravascular Crawling Through Intravital... Leukocyte intravascular crawling has only recently been identified as a key step in leukocyte recruitment. Leukocyte intravascular crawling occurs after firm adhesion and before transmigration in the leukocyte recruitment cascade. At a speed of 5 20um/min, leukocyte intravascular crawling involves the lateral migration of leukocytes along the luminal surface of the endothelium, which may assist in immune surveillance as well as searching for suitable sites for endothelial crossing (Shulman et al, 2009). In order for the leukocytes to crawl, they must possess resistance against the shear flow of blood, and this is achieved by the β2 integrins Mac 1 and LFA 1 and the α4 integrins VLA 4 and α4β7. As leukocytes move, they display resistance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is often used in conjunction with epifluorescence and involves the use of long wavelengths to excite fluorophores, which are fluorescent chemical compounds that light up upon excitation, in the tissue of interest (Mempel, 2004). These techniques have shed light on the crawling at a molecular level, including the importance of integrins. The integrins MAC 1 and/or LFA 1 are the two integrins that have been identified in contributing to crawling (Phillipson et al, 2006). The process of crawling is first triggered by chemokines, which activate Rho and Rap 1 families, which in turn stimulate LFA 1 and/or MAC 1 to initiate crawling. Using LFA 1 as an example, the activation of LFA 1 confers high affinity to the adhesion molecule, ICAM 1. The high affinity LFA 1 engages with ICAM 1 focal dot points which is a crucial step for resistance. The integrin LFA 1 must then be able to adjust its binding strength to ICAM 1 in order for crawling to occur, whereby the leading edge is continuously creating new bonds whilst the back bonds are being displaced (Shulman, 2009). Adhesive filopodia, which are projections into the endothelium, are then generated to allow the crawling leukocyte to probe the endothelium for suitable transendothelial migration in a millipede like motion (Shulman, 2009). • 12. What Is Mlk Legacy Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a caring and passionate leader and symbol for change, provided inspiration to encourage the integration of the American society, with the inequality for the colored people. To fully appreciate MLK s legacy, one has to understand his importance during the American Civil Rights Movement. The American Civil War was growing, which could have very likely led to the fall of the strongest nation in the world. MLK knew that the nation would fall if we kept fighting. His solution averted a war between the races. During the Cold War, the Soviets would have loved the fighting that was taking place in America. Dr. King prevented violent actions that could have very seriously weakened America. Today, America has a remembrance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first building block that he talks about was to determine whether injustices are alive. If a corruption is found and flourishing, the society as a whole must correct the injustice with peace. A society cannot look away and justify an action that could be damaging to a population. People must study the fairness of capital distribution within their communities. For example, on present day minimum wage, can someone live at a standard that they would desire? Do we find suffering within that group? A society that answers yes to these questions must come to the conclusion that corruptions are still here today. The second building block Dr. King described is self purification. MLK, one of six colored people who were among hundreds at the integrated Crozer Theological Seminary, had to go through the self purification process. A activist for change has to go through a process where an sync occurs, with the catalyst and society that has to be changed. The catalyst must know their preconceptions, prejudice, and feelings towards the ones who they try to change. Ebert, p.56 p.87) concentrates on the development of ethical codes of conduct as it relates to business. The chapter also focuses on the social responsibility an organization holds in relation to everyday decision making. Ethics and social responsibility go hand in hand. Since American Civil War, business practices, attitudes and norms have evolved over time for the most part. The evolution has progressed from obstructionist, to defensive, to accommodative to the now increasingly accepted proactive stance. This change in approach to social responsibility is directly related to the change in American/World values and culture. Over this same period of time institutions like slavery, colonialism, segregation, sexism, child labor and other questionable and /or abusive business practices have fallen by the wayside. This means that with multiple expiration times investors can make an instant profit on their binary options and can become more flexible in their option investments. The expiration times can be weekly, monthly,or even longer terms. Secondly, the payouts are different than day trading. With regular day trading, an investor pays per contract. Subsequently, the investor will profit or lose an amount depending on the number of points difference between the expiration level and the strike price. In binary options the win or lose outcome is set ahead of time. The investor knows how much he or she is going to win or lose before they enter the trade. This can be a serious edge in regular day trading. Third, expiration is different between binary options and regular day trading. It may be in a way where the instructor raises a students grade by one letter, or by raising a failing grade to a passing grade. Many colleges and universities to this day use the typical letter grading system which is A,B,C,D,F. Some universities, on the other hand feel that this grading system is under estimating students intelligence and abilities. Also, many universities are suffering from the problem of grades that are expanding. Professors and teachers who over evaluate the quality of the student s work or assignment and consequently assign a grade higher than what the student deserves mainly cause the problem. Causes that might cause grade inflation is portrayed through personal motives, target of getting an A grade and avoiding an F and students being in competition with their classmates. One of the causes of grade inflation is portrayed through personal motives or high expectations from parents to their children. Many parents put pressure on their children to get good grades. As a result, the children demand to get A s to meet one of their parents expectations, which is to good a good job. They get motivated to only get the best of grades. • 19. Power Of Joseph Stalin Following the death of Lenin in January 1924, Joseph Stalin emerged as the vital dictator of Russia in February; he ruled the Soviet Union like a personal fiefdom. He aimed to transform the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) from a backwards agriculture society into a great industrial totalitarian nation, which he believed was essential if Russia was to survive in a world of powerful and hostile capitalist states (Todd Allan 2001). Stalin claimed that The major priority should be to consolidate the Marxian socialist system with the USSR and make the country strong again (Cowie. H.R, 1992). Stalin subsequently based the organisation of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Government (CPSUG) on the principles of democratic centralism, aiming to achieve the dictatorship of the proletariat (Payton Rousseau). According to Payton Rousseau, under Stain s reign, the CPSUG and Soviet Government were two separate bodies, however, almost all high government officials were Bolsheviks party members. It was this system of interlocking dual membership that enabled the CPSU to both make and enforce policy (Payton Rousseau). This level of government authority allowed Stalin to enact any policy he saw necessary, as he was the leading General Secretary and by the late 1930 s Joseph Stalin was exercising as much power, in as authoritarian a manner, as the Tsars had done before him (Cowie. The Basic Principles of Accounting The Basic Principles of Accounting Cherry Marler ACCT205 1203A 17, IP 1 Instructor Jeffery Bloom June 06, 2012 Abstract Accounting is used for several purposes. Investors, creditors, and individuals use accounting to see whether a business is successful or not. Managers and employees use accounting to make decisions on certain objectives. There are four main statements used in accounting: The balance sheet, income statement, the statement of retained earnings, and the statement of cash flow. A company will produce a trial balance which will give the balance of all these in a certain amount of time such as monthly, quarterly, or annually. The trial balance ensures that account balance is accurate. If the accounting equation isn t balanced out then there is an error in the accounting records. The final process of accounting is producing financial statements. The first statement is the income statement. The income statement shows a company s profit or loss after revenue and expenses. The equation for the income statement is revenue minus expenses equal net income. The next statement produced is the statement of retained earnings. The statement of retained earnings starts out with the net income retrieved from the income statement, which is added to the beginning retained earnings from the previous month then subtracts the money paid out. The last document is the balance sheet. A balance sheet contains a more detailed statement of each account balance. (Tracy, 2008). Bohr Model Postulates of Dalton s Atomic Theory The main points of Dalton s atomic theory, an explanation of the structure of matter in terms of different combinations of very small particles, are given by the following postulates: 1. All matter is composed of indivisible atoms. An atom is an extremely small particle of matter that retains its identity during chemical reactions. 2. An element is a type of matter composed of only one kind of atom, each atom of a given kind having the same properties. Mass is one such property. Thus, the atoms of a given element have a characteristic mass. 3. A compound is a type of matter composed of atoms of two or more elements chemically combined in fixed proportions. According to quantum mechanics, each electron in an atom is described by four different quantum numbers, three of which (n, l, and ml) specify the wave function that gives the probability of finding the electron at various points in space. lt; A wave function for an electron in an atom is called an atomic orbital. An atomic orbital is pictured qualitatively by describing the region of space where there is high probability of finding the electrons. The atomic orbital so pictured has a definite shape. A fourth quantum number (ms) refers to a magnetic property of electrons called spin. We first look at quantum numbers, then at atomic orbitals. The first two instances were mainly due to an unorganized system because of the early establishment. However, there is a recurring pattern in the later elections. In 1800, the problem was that the electors had two votes, one for President and one for the Vice President, which, based on the outcome, resulted in the adoption of the 12th Amendment which ensured that a tied vote for President wouldn t happen again. A Brief Note On The Documentary Program Essay Documentary Program Essay I have met so many people who have given me a new perspective to look at the world, who struck me with their values and characteristics, who have become inspirations in my stories. I would like to tell stories that reflect certain problems and bring awareness to the society. Here is a story that I would like to explore in depth: For decades, the phenomena of human trafficking and smuggling in China have never stopped. While poor women and children were trafficked for sexual exploitation and adoption, many young men were voluntarily smuggled to the West due to their belief in having a richer and better life overseas . People pay money to the snakeheads who have connections overseas and be shipped in cargo ships: some died of suffocation during the journey, and some were detained in prisons and deported. Fujian, a southern province, has been a hotbed of trafficking and smuggling in China. For more than a century, Fujianese had been moving to the West both legally and illegally. Death or bitter lives have never taken away their desires to earn money and prestige, but they have been living a hard life that outsiders could never have imagined, and they would never be the insiders of these western countries. Storyline In Queens, there is a huge community of Chinese immigrants. Many of the people were smuggled into the United States. • 26. Depravity In Lord Of The Flies Essay Our world is full of vicious, hazardous and dangerous aspects of life, but if there is anything we should be afraid of most, it is ourselves. William Golding s 1954 World War II novel, Lord of the Flies, revolves around a group of English schoolboys whose plane crashes on an island after being shot out of the sky. The wilderness and lack of pre existing society prompts them to develop a civilization, but things turn sour and man s malign nature quickly takes hold. The Lord of the Flies is not a physical being or object, but a representation of the idea that all humans are inherently evil and deep rooted with masochistic, selfish instincts. Before one can understand how the Lord of the Flies represents innate evil, it is important that the three constituents of man s depravity are explored. The first of these elements is the conversion from civilization to savagery. During an assembly among the boys on the island, they go back and forth talking while the others listen. When a cell tissue is grinded down and mixed into a soupy mixture, the organelles can be separated using a process called centrifugation. The soupy mixture is placed in a centrifuge which spins the mixture at high speeds. This results in the denser and heavier organelles ending up in the bottom the the tube which is called the pellet. The lighter and less dense organelles remain in the liquid portion called the supernatant. This process can be repeated many times(Mcallister and Leicht 2017). ... A couple problems were hard since I haven t had a refresher on that section of trigonometry, but if I studied, I would have easily gotten them right. The Importance Of Looking Before You Leap Essay The Importance of Looking Before You Leap Media portrays romantic relationships as a whirlwind of emotions that ends in a happily ever after in the course of a few days; children s movies are a larger perpetrator of this idea. But how accurate is this to real life relationships? Research, including John Van Epp s book How to Avoid Falling in Love with a Jerk, tells us that a healthy relationship is built on more than the initial emotions we feel. In chapter one of How to Avoid Falling in Love with a Jerk, Epp discusses the importance of the love is blind phenomenon where we either one, don t know how to identify predictors of relationship dissatisfaction or two, become so attached to someone that we minimize predictors in the belief that things will get better. The love is blind phenomenon causes discourse between the heart and mind, two things that need to be harmonious in order for a healthy relationship. Epp also discusses the predictors of (dis)satisfaction in order to find a partner that complements us and identify things that could result in potential problems in the relationship. For the first chapter, I found the predictors to be the most interesting point in this chapter. Last year, during an outdoor speech, California governor Jerry Brown made this statement: Today we are standing on dry grass where there should be five feet of snow. Influenced by the recent World War II, the heartache and depression that came over a multitude of societies raised questions surrounding the point of life. In conjunction, the Theatre of the Absurd set to challenge the human condition and created existentialist (the belief that there is no greater influential power and that meaning is created through ones own free will) views and opinions. In that regard, it challenged the existence of God, and forced people to create their own morals. The Theatre of the Absurd also focused largely on looking through a philosophical paradigm. Sometimes appearing as there is no plot to the play, the Theatre of the Absurd had non linear plot developments and went against general theatre conventions. Things that were considered a structure of human life such as time, place and identity were often distorted to an extent where the characters became confused on where they were or who they were, and therefore easily fell out of the rhythm of normal life and the way that people generally live. Movement also played a major part in the Theatre of the Absurd using conventions such as repetition and ritualistic choreography. The dialogue used very similar techniques including repetition but also used cliché, pauses and often words that made no sense to the audience. The second is the translucent material creates a solid barrier that traps the hot air created from within to be confined, thus causing the temperature of the green house to rise. This concept of the way a green house works applies directly to the way the world is heating, the only difference is in the case of our planet, instead of a translucent material trapping infrared radiation it is greenhouse gases. Through his philosophical search Descartes was able to find one indubitable certainty, that we are thinking beings. We always think, even when we have doubts that we are thinking we are still thinking because a doubt is a thought. Although Descartes found this one universal truth, he was still not able to believe in anything but the fact that he was a thinking being. Therefore he still doubted everything around him. He used this one certainty to try to find a system of knowledge about everything in the world. Descartes idea was to propose a hypothesis about something. For example he might say that a perfect being was in existence. He would go around this thought in a methodical way, doubting it, all the while trying to identify it as a certainty. Doubting everything was at first dangerous because in doubting everything he was also admitting that he doubted the existence of God, and thus opposing the church. However he made it a point to tell us at the beginning of his Discourse on Methods that what he was writing was only for himself and that he expected no one but himself to follow it (Descartes 14, 15).
