Social Problem Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of a "Social Problem" can be a challenging task that requires a
thoughtful and analytical approach. The difficulty lies in the broad and complex nature of social
problems, as they encompass a wide range of issues affecting individuals, communities, and
societies. Tackling such a topic requires in-depth research, critical thinking, and the ability to
navigate through various perspectives and opinions.
One of the challenges is selecting a specific social problem to focus on, as there are countless
issues to choose from, such as poverty, inequality, discrimination, environmental issues, and
more. Once a topic is chosen, the writer must delve into extensive research to gather relevant
data, statistics, and scholarly articles to support their arguments.
Crafting a coherent and well-organized essay on a social problem also involves analyzing the
root causes, effects, and potential solutions. It requires the writer to consider the historical
context, societal norms, and cultural factors that contribute to the issue at hand. Moreover,
addressing the complexity of social problems often involves grappling with ethical dilemmas and
conflicting viewpoints.
The writing process itself can be challenging as writers must strike a balance between being
informative, persuasive, and empathetic. Presenting a compelling argument while maintaining
objectivity can be demanding. Additionally, conveying the urgency of addressing the social
problem and inspiring readers to take action adds another layer of difficulty.
In conclusion, writing a compelling essay on a social problem requires a combination of research
skills, critical thinking, empathy, and effective communication. It is not just about presenting
facts but also about creating awareness and fostering a deeper understanding of the issue.
Despite the challenges, successfully navigating through the complexities of a social problem
essay can lead to a powerful and impactful piece of writing.

Marie Sklodowska Research Paper
Born Marie Sklodowska on November 7, 1867,1864 in Warsaw, Poland. She was
the youngest of five children that were born to poor school teachers. After her
mother died, her father could no longer support her so she became a governess
while reading and writing in her spare time to quench her thirst for knowledge
which she always had. Becoming a teacher was never a possibility because of her
lack of money, but when her sister offered her housing in Paris, France with a view
of going to a university there, she took the opportunity and moved to France with
her sister in 1891.In Paris in 1894, she Pierre Curie, who was a scientist working in
the city, and married him the next year. It was also around this time that she took
up the French spelling of her name: Marie. It is this name that is the most known
and most used. The Curies became research workers at the School of Chemistry and
Physics in Paris and began their studies of invisible rays that are given off by
uranium, which had recently been discovered by Professor Henri Becquerel. He had
shown that the invisible rays were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She conducted her own experiments on uranium rays and discovered that they
remained constant. The rays came from uranium s atomic structure. This idea created
the field of atomic physics. She coined the word, radioactivity to describe the
phenomena.Following her discovery of radioactivity, she continued her research with
her husband. Working with the mineral pitchblende, the two discovered a new
radioactive element in 1898. They named the element polonium, after Marie s native
country Poland. They also detected the presence of another radioactive material in the
pitchblende and called it radium. In 1902, the two announced that they had produced
a gram of pure radium, showing its existence as a unique chemical
The Importance Of Physical Beauty In The Renaissance Era
Society s perception of love changes constantly. As a result, poems of different time
periods have different perceptions of love and beauty. Ben Jonson s A Vision of
Beauty and Samuel Daniel s But love whilst that thou mayst be loved again reflect
the importance of physical beauty in love during the Renaissance Era. In the
Victorian Period, Wilfrid Scawen Blunt s I See You Juliet and Robert Browning s A
Face continue to reflect society s fascination with female beauty in both a positive
and negative way. In the Modern Period, a shift occurs in both marriageand lovewith
a greater emphasis on true love and inner beauty. William Butler Yeats When You
Are Old and Edna St. Vincent Millay s Only Until This Cigarette Is Ended show...

In his poem, But love whilst that thou mayst be loved again , he focuses on
warning women to find love soon because beauty will not last with age. He
compares a woman s beauty to a flower: the fairest flower that ever saw the light
/ men do not weigh the stalk for what it was / when they find her flower, her glory,
pass (Daniel 6, 13 14). Through this metaphor, he shows how men view beauty in
love. No one looks at a dead flower and thinks about what it used to be, rather, he or
she looks towards other flowers that bloom with life and colour. This sonnet begins as
an admiration for his subject s beauty, but it ends by telling the subject that when her
physical beauty deteriorates, no one will love her. This poem reflects society s
fixation on superficial beauty because it reminds women that they will never find
love without external beauty, as a result of the superficiality of men in society. Both
poems of the Renaissance Period assert the idea of perfection and the importance of
physical beauty in love and relationships. Victorian era poets continue to propound
the importance of superficial beauty. During this era, there was a continual belief in
lust and sexual desires, evident in the rampant disloyalty that husbands showed their
wives (Hughes). Wilfrid Scawen Blunt depicts this continual fascination of lust and
beauty in his poem, I See You Juliet . The
Who Lived From 50-130 Ad
Epictetus, a Stoic philosopher who lived from 50 130 AD, was instrumental in
allowing the Stoic philosophy to grow and flourish. As ideas have come and gone
throughout the years, this is a philosophy, a way of thinking, or even a lifestyle that
has maintained its validity ever since its inception into the human mind, and
continues to be a formative way of thinking to this day. Without knowing it, I have
adopted several of the views that are explicitly written in EpictetusThe Handbook. As
I grew tired and annoyed with the events happening around me, it dawned on me
that I can only control how I live my life, and that has been a central philosophy in
my life for several years. In this paper, I will use different excerpts from The
Handbook to support my claim that this philosophical way of thinking is a superior
path to eudaimonia, and I will look at counter arguments and discuss why they are
less valid than the Stoic outlook on life. Although many different excerpts from the
text contribute to the framework of the philosophy, the one that encapsulates the
essence of it most succinctly and provides a suitable base is fragment no. 8.: Do
not seek to have events happen as you want them to, but instead want them to
happen as they do happen, and your life will go well. The central idea behind this is
one that has been rooted in my life, and is a formative way of thinking. Rather than
hope that things out of one s control happens as one wishes, it is far more conducive

Toys R Us Japan Essay
Toys R Us Japan
Answer1: Is Japan a good market for Toys R Us? CAGE Framework Cultural: *
Lavish spending on children s toys and clothes to compensate for constant pressure
to excel in school * Greater preference to personal attention and guaranteed repair
rather than low prices * But the younger generation owing to a greater international
exposure realized that they were paying greater prices for many consumer goods
compared to global standard * Cultural shift from taking over parents small shops to
experimenting with bolder ventures * Principle of loyalty to manufacturers was

In 1991, the entry of Toys R Us would displace more people from jobs than the
opportunities it would create. The displaced people also include old people above 60
for whom this is a safety net post retirement. Japanese economy was in a state of
virtual full employment with qualified male graduates preferring local employers to
foreign establishments. Yet it will give employment opportunities for Japanese women
Conclusion: The entry of Toys R Us would shake the traditional Japanese toy
business, however the cracks appearing in the retail structure points towards the need
for transformation in the Japanese market. Hence Toys R Us potentially is a good
prospect for the Japanese markets.
Answer3 Has Toys R Us chosen the best entry strategy for the Japanese market? Has
it chosen the right partner?
It has core competency in its industry and has been in the International Strategy for
long time. So, next opportunity would be for a Transnational Strategy following the
incremental strategy where it should be focusing upon. In order to have it the
Integration and Responsiveness should be high. It has successfully addressed the
concerns related to CAGE framework by addressing the following concerns

Peasants, Rebels, Women, And Outcastes By Mikiso Hane
Urban life was exhilarating for Japan as cities began to develop in the 1890s. The
major changes were technological advancements that lead to more job opportunities
and made lives easier; however, most Japanese during the Meiji period were not
satisfied. These people were not benefiting from the changes that were occurring
around them. In Mikiso Hane s book, Peasants, Rebels, Women, And Outcastes: The
Underside of Modern Japan, the first chapter depicts the morbid ways in which
Japanese peasants reacted to starvation and military conscription. The next section
illustrates the difficult tasks of being a farmer, and the third division describes the
peasants morals. In the fourth section, Hane displays the demanding tasks that were

The rural communities provided Japan with food and the bulk of Japan s taxes. In
this manner, a plethora of tenant famers lost their land due to the average rent,
which was a little over 50 percent of yield (104), established in the Meiji era. They
were strained with the overwhelming land taxes which put copious farmers into the
hands of their landlords. The debt just kept increasing for these peasants, for a
multifold were pushed into destitution. Hence, those peasants were forced to
surrender their land. Another hardship that farmers were put through was the famine
of 1934, for it threatened their agricultural lifestyle. To make matters even worst,
preceding the famine was several years of inadequate harvests. Because of the
economic failures, Malnutrition shortened the lives of countless people (115).
According to a report on the Ghastly Conditions in the Northeastern Farm Villages
by Shimomura Chiaki, a man who was sitting next to Shimomura embodies that
many survive the famine by eating human flesh. In their desperate state, the poor
waited for girls between seventeen and eighteen years of age to perish because their
flesh was the best 130). Can one imagine how starving one must be to stick around
to watch teenage girls expire and consume their flesh? How desperate must an
individual be to go that far? One
A Humble Remonstrance By Thomas Stevenson Analysis
In his essay A Humble Remonstrance Robert Louis Stevenson vehemently disagrees
with the views of the renowned authors Walter Besant and Henry James, on what
constitutes the nature and function of fiction. This debate entitled The Art of fiction
was initiated by Besant following on from his lecture at the Royal Institution, and
continued by James in his essay of the same name which was published in Longmans
Magazine in 1884. This debate effectively became the most sustained discussion of
the nature of fictionat the time (The Open University, 2013).
Besant s attempts to lay down the laws of fiction , argues that Fiction is an Art in
every way, and is equal to other Fine Arts, such as Painting, Sculpture, Music, and
Poetry (2001, p.62). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These ideas are what Stevenson felt necessary to defend in his essay, A humble
remonstrance (Stevenson, 2001 [1884], p96).
Thus, encapsulating an abstract of life is an essential element in the writer s
toolbox, and in. Stevenson is saying that the novelist should be the mirror, and
looking glass, to the world and the role of a successful novelist is to bring an
abstract character to life in the world and imagination of the reader
Charles Dickens novel, Dombey and Son does just that, written at a time of
considerable social and economic turbulence in Victorian England with the
implementation of the Railway, the Industrial revolution and urbanisation all
contributed to this upheaval. These changes had both positive and negative effects on
personal relationships and industry. Denial and resistance to these social, personal,
and industrial changes, and the subsequent effect on the family is the crux of this

I believe management is smart and knows what locations/areas where Panera would
do well. But this will be something to keep an eye on. They also need to address
whether to expand their product line. Offering more products will attract customers
and help them to compete with their rivals.
Another issue management should address could be competition. Competition from
other eateries and cafГ©s will be something that could hurt Panera. Again, I believe
management is smart and knows what tactics work in this area, but competition is
still a factor that could hurt Panera and something to follow. They also need to
address whether to correct the company s deficiencies by acquiring a rival company
with the missing strengths.
The final issue would be location. 40% of Panera s bakery cafГ©s are located in the
Midwest. If a significant amount of these locations suffered serious damage for
whatever reason, it d hurt the company. Again, the strong balance sheet means the
company can handle some difficulties. But if anything major kept the cafГ©s shut or
the customers away, Panera wouldn t have much support from the stock market. They
could also address whether to expand into foreign markets. This would help Panera s
continual growth.

Morals Of The Prince Rhetorical Analysis
Author and philosopher, Niccolo Machiavelli, in the excerpt from his book, The
Morals of the Prince , describes the different ways of being a successful prince.
Machiavelli s purpose is to show readers how hard he life of a prince really is. He
adopts an informative tone in order to convey to his audience that princes are only
human and they will be criticized for every little thing. Machiavelli effectively
convinces his audience of what makes a good prince through the use of formal
diction, appealing to ethos, and appealing to logos. The diction Machiavelli uses
creates imagery in the minds of his audience. Thus some are considered generous,
others stingy; some are givers, others grabbers; some cruel, others merciful... His use

For the Autumn/Winter 2011 collection that we are appointed, Triumph has
coordinate together with Barbour. Barbour is a UK owned clothing store

that is designed for a full country lifestyle. The collection is to be launch during
February and March 2011. The launching event usually taken place at the factory
where dealers visit the pop up store for viewing the new collection and this is to be
joined by appointment only. Information, product demonstration and order making
are taken place on the event day. Sometimes the person visiting the event may not
have the authority to make the purchase, therefore the company is given them a 3

The main goal of this collection is to start expanding the market to those who are non

products into any other department stores because they want to give priority to their
existing dealers for stocking Triumph products. There is no budget limit for the

A Military Officer, And What Society And My

When a service member is addressed with the question, Why do you want to be a
military officer? One should reflect fully on his/her decision to integrate into the
position of an Officer in the United States Military. Each field within the Army, Air
Force, Navy, and Marines, has their specific Officers, who are expected to conduct
certain responsibilities within their Military Occupational Specialty (MOS). Being
that each branch of military holds its historic position on the battlefield i.e. the Navy
and Marines defend the beaches and land, the Army defends the land and the Air, and
the Air Force secures our skies, every unique officerwithin our military must still
adhere to one standard, a constant professional. In this informative essay, I am
going to discuss why I want to be a military officer, and what society and my
subordinates expect of me. When a service member is addressed with the question,

The Punisher, Luke Cage and The Iron Fist are also having their own series. Here s

Are these superheroes gonna combine in one single series?
It may be possible, and it may not. If it s indeed possible, it might take a long time
for the producers and writers to work this out. If it s possible to combine fictional
superheroes as Avengers, they can be possible too. There were rumors that Jessica
Jones are going to face off against the Punisher. If this is true, it would be amazing
for the fans to see this. When it comes for these 5 superheroes to meet up with each

Against Drinking Bottled Water
Have you ever been thirsty and wanted some water? You went to a store and bought
plastic bottled water, drank it and threw it away? But, did you know bottled water is
bought hundreds of thousands of times about every day? I am against drinking
bottled water because I think that it s hurting animals, costing 2000 times more than
tap water, and making global warming worse. Buying bottled watercan lead to huge
consequences and it will affect us desperately.
The first reason for why I am against bottled water is that bottled water is that it is
killing animals. Many sea animals/animals are dying because of these plastic bottles.

Tap water is basically like free! Just find a drinking fountain, press a button and
there! You can only get bottled water by going to a store and buying it. For
example, many of the bottled water brands say that Our water has fresh taste and is
cheap. That s not true, it s 2,000 times more expensive, and it doesn t even taste good
anyways. Did you know that the plastic on the bottle costs more than the water inside
the bottle? This is like getting water, but you re paying more for it because of the
plastic on it.This is way more expensive, and tap water is way better and cheaper.
There really is no reason to buy bottled water, if you can get it way easier from
your home s sink then going to a store and purchasing a plastic bottle 2000 times
the price of tap water. Did you remember how I said that bottled water brands were
trying to convince you to buy their water? Most of their water is just filtered tap
water inside a plastic bottle! According to Annie Leonard, an American proponent,
Bottled water costs 2000 times more than tap water. Can you imagine paying 2000
times the price of anything else? How about a $10,000 sandwich? It isn t smart to
buy something more expensive when you can get it for about free. This is like
getting a sandwich but 2000 times the price of a normal sandwich. This is like
bottled water being 2000 times more expensive than tap
Benefits Of Universal Health Care
Should healthcare be universal to all citizen of a nation? What is Universal health
care? According to the World Health organization (WHO) Universal health coverage
(UHC) means that all people and communities can, use the promotive, preventive,
curative, rehabilitative and palliative health services they need, of sufficient quality
to be effective, while also ensuring that the use of these services does not expose the
user to financial hardship (Organization, 2013). Universal Health careshould be
provided to all citizens because of the mass benefit we can receive. Universal
Health Care which is also known as universal care, universal coverage or universal

provides health care and financial protection to every citizen of a specific country
(Formosa 2017) Universal health care is an important health care that every
country need to implement to its citizen because universal health care provides

Analyzing Jonathan Lethem s Star Wars

the movie had changed. Later in the story, Jonathan states that his parents got a

and puts more focus on how he used Star Warsas a distraction from his real life. The
story starts out as Jonathan telling his audience how he watched Star Wars twenty
one times in a four month time frame. He states that he was the kid who went to the

He explains that his parents got a divorce a couple years ago, and his mom was
diagnosed with a brain tumor. She had seizures, two unsuccessful surgeries and dies
a year from the summer of Star Wars. By adding those details, Jonathan makes his
audience realize why he watched Star Wars so many times. It was his distraction from
the real world, and it gave him time to focus on something other than what was going
on at home. The way that Letham told this story was a unique and informal technique
to grab the audience s attention. It starts out, by showing Jonathan s obsession with
Star Wars, and then it turns into how Star Wars was Jonathan s distraction from his
mother s death. He numbered his writing from one to twenty one, by doing this, he
symbolized the number of times he went to Star Wars. Jonathan could have told the
story by discussing his mother s brain tumor first and then went into how he dealt
with it. Then, he could have grabbed his audience s attention at the beginning. I found

to measure and test the blood alcohol content in a person s blood stream before

ignition interlock, the car would not start. This device will also keep a record of the

Ibn Battuta and Marco Polo were both explorers in the 13th Century. Battuta was a
Muslim who explored in India, East Africa, the Middle East, parts of Russia and
areas surrounding Constantinople (in the excerpt we read). Marco Polo was a
Venetian merchant who traveled over land from Venice for half of his journey from
Acre to Beijing. From Beijing he traveled the South China Sea, through the Indian
Ocean, to the Arabic Sea and continuing his journey on land from Ormuz to Venice.
The passage we were given to read concentrated on Marco Polo s journey through
Persia and Southwest Asia.
While visiting Zafari, Ibn Battuta was shown great hospitality by two shakihs. Abu
l Abbas Ahmad and Abu Abdallah Muhammad, sons of the shaikh Abu Bakr. They
were both men of great benevolence. When they washed their hands after a meal,
Abu l Abbas, took that water in which they washed, drank some of it, and sent the
servant with the rest of it to his wives and children, and they drank it as well. This is
what they do with all visitors to them in whom they perceived indications of
goodness. Battuta was also entertained by Abu Hashim al Zabidi, who personally
served and washed his hands, not delegating it to anyone else. (Gibb, 385 386) During
Battuta s visit in Constantinople he had a chance meeting with the ex King of
Constantinople who renounced his throne and became a monk. Battuta seemed in

Zora Neale Hurston was so proud to be from the black community that she
mentioned it in her writings; she even changed it to her birthplace. Eatonville,
Florida, had a massive impact on Zora s life. It shaped her life and writing style.
Hurston explains: Anyway, the force from somewhere in Space which commands
you to write in the first place, gives you no choice. You take up the pen when you
are told, and write what is commanded. There is no agony like bearing an untold
story inside you.
Once her mother passed, she was passed about like a bad penny. Her father treated
her like he didn t want to have anything to do with her. Her father told her that she d

step mother Mattie Moge never got along with each other. They always exchange
words and sometimes it would get intense to the point of them fighting. A few years
later poor Zora would get tired of what she was going through. Zora worked her way

The baby blue ribbon draped around my horse s neck tells the crowd that I am the
tenth best junior dressage rider in the country. Don t confuse this with some fantasy, I
did not reign supreme nor top the field of competitors I faced during the weekend in
Chicago, Illinois at the Festival of Champions horse show. However, I stood proud
with my lowly score of 63.7 percent. Seven percent off the winner, which as far as
my sport goes equates to the difference between an A and a C on a math test.
In layman s terms, dressage means riding patterns on a horse. I could share the ideas
of flying changes, extended trots, and half passes, but these seemingly alien concepts

Afghanistan War Essay
In 2001 the Twin Towers were destroyed by two planes and also there were two
other planes one was supposed to hit the White House and the other the Pentagon.
This started the war in Afghanistan. It s been eight years since this incident, and the
United States and President Obama still want to keep this war going. Next year
they are going to send 30,000 troops to Afghanistan and Iraq. There are three
reasons why they shouldn t send them: one for their safety; two Afghanistan should
keep their business to themselves; and three it s going to affect the economy big
time. First of all President Obama is going to send 30,000 troops to Afghanistan
next year. My first reason on why he shouldn t is because of their safety, like for

See this isn t our problem yet because they are planning but they haven t done it yet.
So the United States military should just get prepared and stop this war. Because is
this all necessary to really to keep this war going, it s been eight years really they
should just don t send the troops. Ok also before the twin towers were destroyed,
Afghanistan had more problems with their neighbor they were going to get in a war
and that s when the United States got involved and tried to stop that war from
happening. Like they shouldn t have gotten involved because probably when they
destroyed the Twins Towers was because they were nosy and got involved on what
was not any of their business. So yea they really shouldn t gotten into that problem
because now we, the United States, are the ones who are suffering from all this.
Many would argue that the story of how 9/11 came about goes back, at least, to 1979
when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan, with which it shares a border.
Afghanistan had experienced several problems since 1973, when the Afghanistan
monarchy was overthrown by Daud Khan, who was sympathetic to Soviet overtures.
An unsuspected attack reflected struggles within Afghanistan among factions with
different ideas about how Afghanistan should be governed and whether it should be
communist, and with the problems with the Soviet Union. The Soviets intervened
following the overthrow of a pro communist leader. In late December 1979, after

The Freudian Slip Theory
Introduction
Freudian slip theory was originally created by Sigmund Freud. He was an Austrian
neurologist and was better known as the founder of psychoanalysis (1856 1939).
Psychoanalysis can be defined as a set of psychological theories which includes the
Freudian slip theory. He believed that everyone possess an unconscious mind,
feelings, desires and memories in their lifetime. It is to be said that peoples will bring
their unconscious content on their mind to their conscious awareness and people will
be able to experience catharsis and gain insight into their current state of mind.
(Cherry, What is Psychoanalysis?, 2016)
Freud s theory of slips of the tongue and pen Sigmund Freud theory is formed based
on peoples brings the unconscious thoughts to conscious self. Freudian slip is the
Hint of the Unconscious. (Cherry, What is a Freudian Slip?, 2015) A Freudian
slip also known as a parapraxis, is an error of speech and memory or physical
action which Freud stated was a result of interference of self own unconsciousness
wish, desire, conflict or train of thought. Freud believed errors of all types were
revealing. It acted like a defense mechanisms and errors come in many varieties.

that most errors happened when there are several causes to create the error. He
named it over determination of an error. It resembles a modern idea about how
memory retrieval takes place through an intersecting association process. When
interpreting the word potted lies at the intersection of several associations: it starts
with the letter p , it has two syllables, it fits into the sentence and it has to do with
the roommate problem. So the word potted was used and applied it on my roommate

The defendants will set out to argue the following points. We argue that we, W.R.
Grace Company, Beatrice Foods Company, and UniFirst Corporation are NOT
responsible for the contamination of wells G and H of East Woburn with toxic
chemicals, including trichloroethylene (TCE) and tetrachloroethylene, also known as

contamination of the drinking water in wells G and H of East Woburn, the
contamination of which allegedly caused the reported cases of sickness, including
cases of leukemia, as well as other illnesses including, cardiac arrhythmias and
disorders of the immune and neurological systems. Finally, we claim no responsibility

deny any charges against W.R. Grace Company, Beatrice Foods Company, and
UniFirst Corporation of contaminating the wells drinking water, and also bringing
about illnesses on to the East Woburn community.
Statement of Argument In this statement of argument, we will prove that W.R. Grace

chemical perspective of the case. We will look at Woburn s chemical industryhistory

The Most Precious Gems Of History
Some of the most precious gems in history are often overlooked or set aside. If a
person asked any student their thoughts on a World War, the student would most
likely respond with a negative reprisal of Adolf Hitler. What many students glance
over is World War I; they fail to realize that without World War I, there would be no
World War II. World War I
alone is a precious piece of history, but when plumbing
into the history historical documents become abundant. In World War I, letters were
the way soldiers communicated with friends and family members they were

War during this time seemed to be more focused on close range battles in the
trenches using rifles and shorter distance weapons, which is certainly different from
today where there is wide use of long range missiles and bombs. Surveillance at that
time was gathered by sending soldiers out to the enemy lines instead of a drone or
satellite gathering information and sending it via modern technology back to the base.
The second primary source document reviewed was also a letter. Gilbert Williams
composed this letter in France during World War One. Mr. Williams was a private
in the 1/6 Seaforth Highlanders division in the French army. This particular letter
was a thank you letter for the gift of State Express cigarettes from a group of
gentlemen at home. This document was also found in a web search on the United
Kingdom National Archives. Unlike the first letter reviewed, this one was much
shorter in length. While this letter from Mr. Williams didn t give insight into the
living conditions or travel of soldiers, it did provide interesting details about the
weather and the battle conditions. But the primary reason this letter stood out over
other resources was the way the author describes his excitement over using his
weapon in battle.
In this letter, the soldier described the weather during this time as frigid and the land
as snow covered. He points out that the snow makes it easy to spot the enemy making

The Battle Of Covadong The Final Push
Battle of Covadonga was the final push of numerous attempts of uprisings and
rebellions that began in 718. During this time, King Pelayo resisted attempts by the
Moors to gain control of Asturias. However, in 720, after sending out a force to
Asturias, Pelayo and his forces of about 500 men were forced to retreat. The
Moorish leader offered terms to surrender, but Pelayo refused. Al Kama, Moorish
leader, ordered an attack. However, the Asturians and Pelayo inflicted major
causalities and pushed back the Moors. The Moors soon began to retreat, but were
attacked by larger Asturians forces who had gained support by villagers. This
success ensured that part of Iberia remained in control of the Christians. For Pelayo,

A primary goal of the Reconquista was to repopulate the Iberian Peninsula with
Christians. As areas that used to be occupied by Muslims became vacant, kings
brought in their own people to secure the borders. In Spain, the main areas of
repopulation were places like the central Catalonia. During the Reconquista, the
Christians, mainly from the northern kingdoms, used their power to create legal and

Reconquista, 2016).
The religious war and conquest for land made a significant impact on Spain, many
of which you can see today. A significant impact the Reconquista had can be seen in
Spain s population and demographics. Today, Catholic Christianity is the largest
religion in Spain. Although it is no longer the official state religion after the Spanish
Constitution of 1978 abolished it, it is still prominent in Spain. According to the
World Atlas, 76.7% of the population consider themselves Catholic, 20% are atheist
and 3 5% are other religions like Islam. These numbers today are in result of the
Reconquista that dramatically decreased the population of many areas and cities that
was mainly populated by the Muslims before the war. Three main cities being;
Granada, Cordoba, and Seville. These permanent effects impacted population growth

Learning all of this will help me as well as be important in my future due to the
daily communication I have with others. Being a girl and having a lot of friends
that are girls could sometimes be a lot of drama so being able to effectively

Cleaning Gutter Guards Research
Tired Of Cleaning Clogged Gutters? Install Gutter Guards And Keep Leaves Out
If scraping decaying leaves out of your gutters is a job you hate, you should think
about installing gutter guards. The guards keep leaves out of the troughs while
allowing rain to seep in, so your gutters work as intended. While they don t make
your gutters completely maintenance free, they do cut down on a lot of time and
labor spent cleaning your gutters. Here are a few things to know. Different Types
Of Gutter Guards You can buy different types of gutter guards. Some are screens of
mesh or nylon that sit on top of the troughs. Others are curved like a dome, so
leaves slide off. Some guards fit inside the gutters. They are like sponges or bristle
brushes that allow water in, but keep leaves out. When choosing the type of guards
to put on your gutters, consider how they will affect the appearance of your house.
The most visible are the curved domes that sit on top of the troughs.... Show more

If you have screens or bristle guards, you may be able to clean them by flushing
them with water while they are still in place. You ll have to remove domed guards
so you can see inside the troughs. The guards should snap on and off in large
sections so you can remove them and hose them off in your yard. With no piles of
leaves clogging the troughs, small seeds and twigs should flush on through with
running water. Even though your gutters and the guards may not be clogged or
have much debris in them, it is still important to clean them occasionally. It is
always a good idea to inspect your gutters annually, and clean them if needed, to
make sure they are working properly. If a limb falls on the gutters or a raccoon
messes around on your roof, one of the guards could become dislodged and allow
leaves in without you knowing it unless you inspect your gutter system
Congressional Term Limits Essay
While Donald J. Trump was at a campaign event in Colorado Springs, he said that if
he was elected president he would call for congressional term limits. He began by
saying that he has plans to drain the swamp of Washington, DC. As apart of this
statement, he promised to push for a constitutional amendment to impose term limits
on congressional lawmakers. Not only will it end our government corruption, but we
will end the economic stagnation that we are in right now , stated Trump. What
Donald Trump is talking about is directly connected to the United StatesCongress and
would have huge impact on Congress if gone through with.
This is of considerable significance due to the fact that Congress is a fundamental part
of the United States government. And changing it, would lead to major changes in
how our government functions. Limiting congressional terms might have some
unforeseen complications. For example, some states have placed term limits on their
state legislatures, and have found that newly elected legislators tend to be more
partisan and ideological than their more seasoned colleagues. Long serving
lawmakers often become more understanding of the rival party and learn how to find
workable compromises. While novice legislators, fresh from the campaign trail, often
see the other party as an enemy. Which can greatly inhibit the coalition building
needed to pass budgets and meaningful laws. On the other hand, some people believe
that term limits will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I agree that term limits may help with the corruption problem, however I also believe
that term limits may create a Congress of little experience. In reality, there is almost
no possibility that congressional term limits will be enacted. Even if Donald Trump
proposed these term limits, such a change would require a two thirds vote from both
chambers or a constitutional convention. And neither the House nor the Senate would
agree to placing term limits on
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Immediate Syntact
Analysis
Immediate constituent analysis (IC analysis) was presented by American structural
linguist Leonard Bloomfield in 1933 (Encyclopædia Britannica, 1998). According to
him, it refers to a system of grammatical analysis that divides sentences into
successive layers, or constituents, until, in the final layer, each constituent consists of
only a wordor meaningful part of a word. (Encyclopædia Britannica, 1998) With
advantages and disadvantages, it makes multiple influences on linguistics. On the one
hand, by revealing syntactic structures of sentences, it can facilitate the study of
syntactic relations, the study of the recursiveness and creativity of language, as well
as the study of syntactic ambiguity. However, on the other hand, it is difficult to
employ this approach to analyze certain complex sentences in practice and to reveal
certain syntactic ambiguity. This essay will introduce... Show more content on

From the above explanations and examples, it has been proven that the IC analysis is
beneficial to the study of the three syntactic relations in that it can clearly divide
sentences into hierarchical structures.
What is more, the second advantage of the IC analysis is that it is helpful to the
study of the recursiveness and creativity of language. By definition, recursiveness
means to extend sentences by conjoining and embedding to form hypotactic or
paratactic sentence structures (Hu, 2011). Together with openness, it reveals the
creativity of language (Hu, 2011). Take the sentence The girl is watering the flower.

Australi An Australian Resident
According to S. (6) of ITAA 1936, an Australian resident is a person who resides in
Australia and whose home or domicile is in Australia, or a person who has been in
Australia continuously or from time to time for more than one half of the income
year, unless of course the person can prove that their usual place of abode is
situated outside of Australia and the person does not have any intension of taking up
residence in Australia. The cases like Levene vs. IRC and Lysaght vs. IRC suggest
that there are many other factors to be considered while determining a person s
residency rather than just seeing the duration of a person s stay in Australia. Such
factors include the purpose of a person to visit Australia, the individual s behavior...

Section 8 1 provides a deduction when assessable income is produced with the help
of borrowed funds or when a business is carried on with these funds.
In Steele s case 1999, High court considered that the interest is deductible before the
commencement of income generating activities.
In this case, the interest of Carl and Jill is not private or domestic in nature. The
purpose of incurring the income for both of them is only one.
Hence, Carl and Jill are carrying on a business for generating income so they are
allowed certain deductions under Section 8 1.
2.) Issue: Which method will be applied; cash or accrual basis of accounting if Carl
and Jill are carrying on a business for taxation law purpose.
Law and application: The decision of choosing the most appropriate method i.e.
cash or accrual depends upon the circumstances of the entity/business as well as its
relative income. The case clearly says that Carl and Jill are carrying on a trading
business. The accrual method of accounting is considered to be the most
appropriate method of accounting for income earned from trading activities. Carl
and Jill are into the business of buying and selling of gardening tools which is
trading and should therefore account for income under the accrual method.
Moreover the facts of this case appear to be close to the facts in the case of J.Rowe V
FCT.
Conclusion:Thus, accrual method of accounting will be the most appropriate for Carl
and Jill s business.

most common injuries, about 6 million people in the US will break a bone each

of them are not long term and can cause other complications. There are different
stages for bonerepair. The first step is the formation of hematoma at the break, then
the formation of a fibrocartilaginous callus, the third step is the formation of a bony

The Roman Colosseum Of Rome
When I ask you to imagine Italy and all the vast architecture, what do picture? I am
going to assume you would picture colosseums. The piece of art I chose to research
was the granddaddy of them all, the Roman Colosseum. This is potentially the most
famous monument to survive the classical period. Today, the Colosseumis one of
Rome s most popular tourist attractions, attracting millions of visitors every year.
This massive amphitheater is located in the center of Rome, Italy. During ancient
roman times these massive amphitheaters were commonly placed around cities.
Eventually there were well over 250 amphitheaters in the Roman empire(Hopkins).
However, no other amphitheater competes in size. What sparked the want to build
such a massive amphitheater? Why is this so important? Years prior to the
construction of the Colosseum, Rome was dealing with a massive civil war which
destroyed the city. At the time of construction, Rome s emperor was Vespasian s
and his decision to build the Colosseum on the site of Nero s lake can be seen as a
gesture of returning a part of the city to the people which emperor Nero had
appropriated for his own use (Roman Colosseum History). However, Vespasian
never saw the completion of his Colosseum due to his untimely death. His son, Titus
would go on to open the Colosseum to the public in AD 80. The Colosseum
remained in service for 450 years. The Colosseum is also known as The Flavian

Advocates for medicinal marijuana argue that clinical tests have established that
marijuana has definite and valid therapeutic values. It is the Tetrahydrocannabinol
(THC) in marijuana that is the active chemical component for the relief o pain and
symptoms. Marijuana suppresses AIDS related nausea and nausea in patients
undergoing cancer chemotherapy, along with appetite loss and abnormal pressure in
the eye which leads to glaucoma, the #1 cause of blindness. Marijuana is also
believed to be a safe and inexpensive alternative in treating muscle spasms, epilepsy,
anorexia, asthma, insomnia, depression and other disorders. Marijuana is not only
believed to help with physical ailments, but psychological ones as well. A former
chairman of the 1991 established Office of Alternative Medicine s (OAM) Program
Advisory Council said, When used appropriately, marijuana could be extremely
helpful to people undergoing certain kinds of emotional crises.
Then there is the opposition who says that there is still no consensus that confirms
marijuana as a legitimate medicinal agent. The opponents believe the THC damages
the brain, the heart, the lungs, the reproductive and immune systems, and that
marijuana use is linked to increased aggressiveness and violent behavior. It is also
reported to reduce memory, inhibit driving ability, limit attention span, increase the
risk of schizophrenia,
The Gospel Of John Analysis
The Gospel of John, as a way for the Church of today to reshape the understanding
and condition of salvation: applauds the Gospel of John as the Doctrine of Salvation
in Bings paper. Bing breaks down the gospel of John into a foundational belief system
as the justification through faith in Christ: Salvation by grace through faith:
Brief Summary Bing gives an in depth look at saving faith and why a defense of
believing in Christ is imperative in the foundations of faith alone. One must not only
defend Christ one must also defend faith in Christ In this paper he has taken point on
verse by verse stepping stones of what the Doctrine of Salvation is. Not just the bases
of metaphorical outcome, but solid exactness that stresses in each aspect Faith and
Christ.

Bing shows the concise distinction in Christ as the divine son, that you may
believe to have eternal life in chapters 10 17. He also shows: Johns purpose as it
was written: the clear, consistent and comparative effects of Johns Gospel and what
is necessary for each compilation of salvation. He explains what is not present in
John; qualifiers as he calls them, i.e. truly, really, genuine, real, or effectual. One
either believes or one does not. There is no in between with salvation and faith
according to the way that Bing explains it. Mainly, because there are not any
conditions to salvation and faith, and John shows that in his gospel. As Jesus spoke to
the woman at the well in John 4, all that was necessary was her belief that He was

Biology Case Study
Materials and methods
The levels of microRNA 22 3p (miR 22 3p) and TP63 were analyzed by RT qPCR
and/or Western blot. Cell proliferation was measured using MTT assay. Cell
invasion and migration were evaluated using Transwell assay chambers. Prediction
of a regulatory relationship between microRNA 22 3p and 3 UTR of TP63 mRNA
was performed by a bioinformatics algorithm and confirmed by a dual luciferase
reporter assay.
OC cell lines
Lung cancer cell lines H292, PC 9, CL1 5, A549 and normal NHBE cells were used
in this study. All of Lung cancer and normaL ceLL Lines were provided by ATCC.
H292, PC 9, CL1 5, A549 and NHBE cells were cultured in RPMI 1640 medium

Cell migration and invasion assays
In vitro cell migration and invasion were examined using the Boyden Chamber
Assays. For the cell migration assay, 30000 cells in 100 Ојl DMEM medium devoid
of fetal bovine serum (FBS) and a given concentration of cetuximab were cultured on
a polycarbonate membrane insert coated with fibronectin in a Boyden Chamber
(Essen BioScience, UK). In the lower chamber, 500 Ојl DMEM with 10% FBS was
added as chemoattractant. After the cells were incubated for 6 h at 37 В°C in a 5%
CO2 atmosphere, the insert was rinsed using PBS and cells on the upper side of the
insert were gently removed using a cotton swab. Subsequently, cells that adhered to
the lower side were fixed with methanol, stained with crystal violet solution and
counted under a microscope in five predetermined fields (Г—200). All assays were
independently repeated at least thrice. The same protocol as described above was
used for the cell invasion assay, except that the transwell filter membranes were pre
coated with 24 Ојg/Ојl matrigel (R D Systems, Inc., Minneapolis, MN, USA) and the
cells were incubated for 8 h at 37 В°C in a 5% CO2 atmosphere.
RNA isolation, reverse transcription and RT qPCR
RNA was extracted from the OC cells using the Trizol reagent. For miR 22 3p, RNA
was transcribed into complementary DNA and amplified using miRNA PrimeScript

Adler How To Mark A Book
To be an active reader is to be able to express yourself in the book one reads.
Mortimer J. Adler argues in his article, How to Mark a Book , that to be an active
reader, the reader needs to actually write in their book; but also to fully claim
ownership of their book. According to Adler, there are plenty of ways one can mark
in a book; underlining, vertical lines at the margin, asterisk, numbers in the margin,
circling or highlighting, writingin the margin at the bottom or top, etc. One does not
initially understand what they are reading, until they feel like they are having a
conversation with the author. Adler emphasizes marking in a book keeps the reader
mentally awake, helps their thoughts become more alive, and also remember later

Civil Rights Movement Songs
Musicians tend to compose music based on the struggles they experience in their
daily life. The Civil Rights Movement era is a perfect example of this, African
Americans were fighting for their basic human rights, to be equal, and to be free.
Many would express their feelings through different types of mediums, usually
music. Five artists, I found to do this were Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye,
Stevie Wonder, and Nina Simone. Their music became anthems of the movement and
gave hope and power their listeners. These artists have become icons of the
movement with their powerful words.
With his soulful voice and good looks, Sam Cooke is a great example of a
musician who used their music to support the Civil Right Movement. He uses a
wide selection of various types of instruments to portray the different emotion the
movement came with. One of his most legendary songs for the movement, released
in 1964 was A Change Is Gonna Come . The song voices hardships that black men
experienced in America during the 60 s. Being that Cooke grew up with little
money he adds his own struggle in the song, hence the born by the river in a little
tent he stays confident that change is gonna come. His song talks about how African
Americans are not able to enjoy normal everyday things like walking down the street
or going to the movies without that constant fear over their shoulders of getting in
trouble. One of the main meanings of this song according to musiqology.com is how
blacks are

America Growth Strategy
The growth strategy of the organization I work for is a methodical process that drives
the future structure at all levels. The approach involves maintaining the integration
capacity of the mill s operational output to support and supply our converting
facilities, in addition to external customers. Change is always occurring; we had a
significant change to our organization when we acquired Boise Inc., our company
size almost doubled. The transition process took approximately two years to integrate
the new operations.
The Packaging Corporation of America has and will continue to use a planned change
methodology, which starts at the prospect phase for potential acquisitions. When
determining if an outside company will fit into our operation, management may look
at the geographical location for customer servicing, health and strength, and
technology availability not only in operation but also for communication needs. ...

Technology change mostly occurred at the corporate level with the integration of the
new operations into our existing communications infrastructure. The expansion in
production capacity and servicing our existing combined customers and new
customers provided by the new market opportunities. The integration of new senior
executives into the current management team will happen and could affect the
current focus and philosophy depending on the strengths of the original team; this is
natural. Then lastly was employee changes through early retirement, attrition, moves
or dismissals; this was the most drastic due to the reshaping of the local facilities
operational landscape.
These changes not only created a new dynamic corporation, but it also reaffirmed the
mission and vision statements and strategic goals that have sustained the company
for the last fifty plus years.

Freshwater Fishing Vs. Fresh Water Fishing
Salt water fishing vs fresh water fishing Remember when you were a little kid
waking up at 5 in the morning just to go fishing. You re just hoping that today will
be the day to catch the big one. You re out there just waiting for something to hit your
line. No matter whether salt water fishing or fresh water fishing, it will meet every
fisherman s or woman s dreams. It doesn t matter if you re out on the lake or on the
ocean, you are always guaranteed to have a good time and make memories. When
fishing either salt water or fresh water you think about what kind of fish you are
trying to catch. One of the most commanded fish fresh water fish people think of is
catfish. They can range from 1 pound up to 60 pounds depending on how old they
are. Catfish spend most of their time swimming on the bottom of lakes or rivers
and they will usually eat everything. Catfish are usually dark in color, so dark that
they look brown. If you re more into the sport side of fishing, the first kind of fresh
water fish you think about is a large or small mouth bass. They usually like to
chase their prey down, but they don t wonder to far from their home. These fish lie
around the bank waiting for a chance to eat. Bass color markings usually consist of
bright and light green. The weight range of bass can be between a one half pound
to ten pounds. An example of salt water fish is Mahi Mahi. They are very bright in
colors; they vary from dark blue, to light yellow, to spots of green. A
Tone Of The Prelude
The Prelude: William Wordsworth s The Prelude, written in blank verse is an
autobiographical poem written from 1798 to 1799. Throughout the excerpt the
speaker has changing responses to his experience and conveys his responses with
varying diction, imagery, and tone style. There are three changes in the speaker s
response to his surroundings, which portray his changing emotion throughout the
piece. The transitions occur on lines 11, 24, and 34. Tones of adventure, decisiveness,
obstruction, and darkness are used throughout the work. The speaker changes his tone
during the transition from the first to second section. He starts in the first with an
awe filled and adventurous tone. He then transitions to a tone of pride and
decisiveness... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speaker s tone goes from nervous and scared to dim and dark. The man has had
to turn around and go back because of his fear for the humongous mountain that
seemed to be encroaching upon his every move. The word choice of and through
the meadows homeward went, in grave and serious mood; shows how he left his
boat with a feeling of sadness, but had not yet been robbed of his joy. But, in the
next section his starting word choice of but after I had seen that spectacle, for
many days, my brain worked with a dim and undetermined sense of unknown
modes of being shows that he doesn t even know how to feel anymore in light of
recent events. This marks the change in him from sadness to dim apathy. His
imagery of there hung a darkness and no familiar shapes remained parallels the
complete emptiness he feels in his soul. The speaker once again refers back to the
environment when he uses no pleasant images of trees , of sea and sky , and no
colours of green fields . He uses this environmental imagery to show that his life is
now devoid of all color. He closes this excerpt with like living men, moved slowly
through the mind by day, and were a trouble to my

The Second World War had started almost five years ear, on September 1, 1939,
when Germany invaded Poland. England and France had promised to defend Poland.
But they were unprepared to fight, and as a result they were terribly beaten. by the
next spring, France had fallen into German hands. The British army had to flee the
Continent and escaped from the French port of Dunkirk with frightful losses. In the
summer of 1940 the Germans, with their allies, the Italians, controlled all of western
Europe. The German air force began its attempt to bomb the British Isles into rubble.
Nevertheless, the British began to think about getting back onto the continent. They
started planning an attack across the Channel even though it seemed more likely
that they would become the invaded rather than the invaders. Hitler threatened to
invade England. He went so far as to assemble a fleet of barges along the French
coast, planning to use them as assault boats. But he hesitated because he realized the
risks of an amphibious attack. Also, he knew that the British navy would destroy
itself, if necessary in an attempt to smash a German invasion fleet. Still the idea was
tempting. The British knew as well as Hitler did that if the Germans could make the
landing successfully, England would be lost. Meanwhile, Royal Air Force fighter

  • 2. Marie Sklodowska Research Paper Born Marie Sklodowska on November 7, 1867,1864 in Warsaw, Poland. She was the youngest of five children that were born to poor school teachers. After her mother died, her father could no longer support her so she became a governess while reading and writing in her spare time to quench her thirst for knowledge which she always had. Becoming a teacher was never a possibility because of her lack of money, but when her sister offered her housing in Paris, France with a view of going to a university there, she took the opportunity and moved to France with her sister in 1891.In Paris in 1894, she Pierre Curie, who was a scientist working in the city, and married him the next year. It was also around this time that she took up the French spelling of her name: Marie. It is this name that is the most known and most used. The Curies became research workers at the School of Chemistry and Physics in Paris and began their studies of invisible rays that are given off by uranium, which had recently been discovered by Professor Henri Becquerel. He had shown that the invisible rays were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She conducted her own experiments on uranium rays and discovered that they remained constant. She coined the word, radioactivity to describe the phenomena.Following her discovery of radioactivity, she continued her research with her husband. Working with the mineral pitchblende, the two discovered a new radioactive element in 1898. They named the element polonium, after Marie s native country Poland. They also detected the presence of another radioactive material in the pitchblende and called it radium. In 1902, the two announced that they had produced a gram of pure radium, showing its existence as a unique chemical
  • 3. The Importance Of Physical Beauty In The Renaissance Era Society s perception of love changes constantly. As a result, poems of different time periods have different perceptions of love and beauty. Ben Jonson s A Vision of Beauty and Samuel Daniel s But love whilst that thou mayst be loved again reflect the importance of physical beauty in love during the Renaissance Era. In the Victorian Period, Wilfrid Scawen Blunt s I See You Juliet and Robert Browning s A Face continue to reflect society s fascination with female beauty in both a positive and negative way. In the Modern Period, a shift occurs in both marriageand lovewith a greater emphasis on true love and inner beauty. William Butler Yeats When You Are Old and Edna St. Vincent Millay s Only Until This Cigarette Is Ended show... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his poem, But love whilst that thou mayst be loved again , he focuses on warning women to find love soon because beauty will not last with age. He compares a woman s beauty to a flower: the fairest flower that ever saw the light / men do not weigh the stalk for what it was / when they find her flower, her glory, pass (Daniel 6, 13 14). Through this metaphor, he shows how men view beauty in love. No one looks at a dead flower and thinks about what it used to be, rather, he or she looks towards other flowers that bloom with life and colour. This sonnet begins as an admiration for his subject s beauty, but it ends by telling the subject that when her physical beauty deteriorates, no one will love her. This poem reflects society s fixation on superficial beauty because it reminds women that they will never find love without external beauty, as a result of the superficiality of men in society. Both poems of the Renaissance Period assert the idea of perfection and the importance of physical beauty in love and relationships. Victorian era poets continue to propound the importance of superficial beauty. During this era, there was a continual belief in lust and sexual desires, evident in the rampant disloyalty that husbands showed their wives (Hughes). Wilfrid Scawen Blunt depicts this continual fascination of lust and beauty in his poem, I See You Juliet . The
  • 4. Who Lived From 50-130 Ad Epictetus, a Stoic philosopher who lived from 50 130 AD, was instrumental in allowing the Stoic philosophy to grow and flourish. As ideas have come and gone throughout the years, this is a philosophy, a way of thinking, or even a lifestyle that has maintained its validity ever since its inception into the human mind, and continues to be a formative way of thinking to this day. Without knowing it, I have adopted several of the views that are explicitly written in EpictetusThe Handbook. As I grew tired and annoyed with the events happening around me, it dawned on me that I can only control how I live my life, and that has been a central philosophy in my life for several years. In this paper, I will use different excerpts from The Handbook to support my claim that this philosophical way of thinking is a superior path to eudaimonia, and I will look at counter arguments and discuss why they are less valid than the Stoic outlook on life. Although many different excerpts from the text contribute to the framework of the philosophy, the one that encapsulates the essence of it most succinctly and provides a suitable base is fragment no. 8.: Do not seek to have events happen as you want them to, but instead want them to happen as they do happen, and your life will go well. The central idea behind this is one that has been rooted in my life, and is a formative way of thinking. Rather than hope that things out of one s control happens as one wishes, it is far more conducive to

CAGE Framework Cultural: * Lavish spending on children s toys and clothes to compensate for constant pressure to excel in school * Greater preference to personal attention and guaranteed repair rather than low prices * But the younger generation owing to a greater international exposure realized that they were paying greater prices for many consumer goods compared to global standard * Cultural shift from taking over parents small shops to experimenting with bolder ventures * Principle of loyalty to manufacturers was strong in wholesaling and retailing Figure1: with the falling birth rate and fewer mouths to feed, the Japanese families ... Yet it will give employment opportunities for Japanese women Conclusion: The entry of Toys R Us would shake the traditional Japanese toy business, however the cracks appearing in the retail structure points towards the need for transformation in the Japanese market. Hence Toys R Us potentially is a good prospect for the Japanese markets. Answer3 Has Toys R Us chosen the best entry strategy for the Japanese market? Has it chosen the right partner? It has core competency in its industry and has been in the International Strategy for long time. • 6. Peasants, Rebels, Women, And Outcastes By Mikiso Hane Urban life was exhilarating for Japan as cities began to develop in the 1890s. The major changes were technological advancements that lead to more job opportunities and made lives easier; however, most Japanese during the Meiji period were not satisfied. These people were not benefiting from the changes that were occurring around them. In Mikiso Hane s book, Peasants, Rebels, Women, And Outcastes: The Underside of Modern Japan, the first chapter depicts the morbid ways in which Japanese peasants reacted to starvation and military conscription. In this manner, a plethora of tenant famers lost their land due to the average rent, which was a little over 50 percent of yield (104), established in the Meiji era. Another hardship that farmers were put through was the famine of 1934, for it threatened their agricultural lifestyle. • 7. A Humble Remonstrance By Thomas Stevenson Analysis In his essay A Humble Remonstrance Robert Louis Stevenson vehemently disagrees with the views of the renowned authors Walter Besant and Henry James, on what constitutes the nature and function of fiction. This debate entitled The Art of fiction was initiated by Besant following on from his lecture at the Royal Institution, and continued by James in his essay of the same name which was published in Longmans Magazine in 1884. This debate effectively became the most sustained discussion of the nature of fictionat the time (The Open University, 2013). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe management is smart and knows what locations/areas where Panera would do well. But this will be something to keep an eye on. They also need to address whether to expand their product line. Offering more products will attract customers and help them to compete with their rivals. Another issue management should address could be competition. Competition from other eateries and cafГ©s will be something that could hurt Panera. Again, I believe management is smart and knows what tactics work in this area, but competition is still a factor that could hurt Panera and something to follow. They also need to address whether to correct the company s deficiencies by acquiring a rival company with the missing strengths. The final issue would be location. 40% of Panera s bakery cafГ©s are located in the Midwest. If a significant amount of these locations suffered serious damage for whatever reason, it d hurt the company. Again, the strong balance sheet means the company can handle some difficulties. But if anything major kept the cafГ©s shut or the customers away, Panera wouldn t have much support from the stock market. They could also address whether to expand into foreign markets. This would help Panera s continual growth. 6. What does Panera Bread need to do to strengthen its competitive position and business prospects vis Г vis other restaurant

  • 35. Congressional Term Limits Essay While Donald J. Trump was at a campaign event in Colorado Springs, he said that if he was elected president he would call for congressional term limits. He began by saying that he has plans to drain the swamp of Washington, DC. As apart of this statement, he promised to push for a constitutional amendment to impose term limits on congressional lawmakers. Not only will it end our government corruption, but we will end the economic stagnation that we are in right now , stated Trump. What Donald Trump is talking about is directly connected to the United StatesCongress and would have huge impact on Congress if gone through with. This is of considerable significance due to the fact that Congress is a fundamental part of the United States government. And changing it, would lead to major changes in how our government functions. Limiting congressional terms might have some unforeseen complications. For example, some states have placed term limits on their state legislatures, and have found that newly elected legislators tend to be more partisan and ideological than their more seasoned colleagues. Long serving lawmakers often become more understanding of the rival party and learn how to find workable compromises. While novice legislators, fresh from the campaign trail, often see the other party as an enemy. Which can greatly inhibit the coalition building needed to pass budgets and meaningful laws. On the other hand, some people believe that term limits will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And neither the House nor the Senate would agree to placing term limits on
  • 36. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Immediate Syntact Analysis Immediate constituent analysis (IC analysis) was presented by American structural linguist Leonard Bloomfield in 1933 (EncyclopГ¦dia Britannica, 1998). According to him, it refers to a system of grammatical analysis that divides sentences into successive layers, or constituents, until, in the final layer, each constituent consists of only a wordor meaningful part of a word. (EncyclopГ¦dia Britannica, 1998) With advantages and disadvantages, it makes multiple influences on linguistics. On the one hand, by revealing syntactic structures of sentences, it can facilitate the study of syntactic relations, the study of the recursiveness and creativity of language, as well as the study of syntactic ambiguity. However, on the other hand, it is difficult to employ this approach to analyze certain complex sentences in practice and to reveal certain syntactic ambiguity. This essay will introduce... From the above explanations and examples, it has been proven that the IC analysis is beneficial to the study of the three syntactic relations in that it can clearly divide sentences into hierarchical structures. What is more, the second advantage of the IC analysis is that it is helpful to the study of the recursiveness and creativity of language. By definition, recursiveness means to extend sentences by conjoining and embedding to form hypotactic or paratactic sentence structures (Hu, 2011). Together with openness, it reveals the creativity of language (Hu, 2011). Take the sentence The girl is watering the flower. (Tian Zhao, 2007) for

Section 8 1 provides a deduction when assessable income is produced with the help of borrowed funds or when a business is carried on with these funds. In Steele s case 1999, High court considered that the interest is deductible before the commencement of income generating activities. In this case, the interest of Carl and Jill is not private or domestic in nature. The purpose of incurring the income for both of them is only one. Hence, Carl and Jill are carrying on a business for generating income so they are allowed certain deductions under Section 8 1. 2.) Issue: Which method will be applied; cash or accrual basis of accounting if Carl and Jill are carrying on a business for taxation law purpose. Law and application: The decision of choosing the most appropriate method i.e. cash or accrual depends upon the circumstances of the entity/business as well as its relative income. The case clearly says that Carl and Jill are carrying on a trading business. The accrual method of accounting is considered to be the most appropriate method of accounting for income earned from trading activities. Carl and Jill are into the business of buying and selling of gardening tools which is trading and should therefore account for income under the accrual method. Moreover the facts of this case appear to be close to the facts in the case of J.Rowe V FCT. Conclusion:Thus, accrual method of accounting will be the most appropriate for Carl and Jill s business. The piece of art I chose to research was the granddaddy of them all, the Roman Colosseum. This is potentially the most famous monument to survive the classical period. Today, the Colosseumis one of Rome s most popular tourist attractions, attracting millions of visitors every year. This massive amphitheater is located in the center of Rome, Italy. During ancient roman times these massive amphitheaters were commonly placed around cities. Eventually there were well over 250 amphitheaters in the Roman empire(Hopkins). However, no other amphitheater competes in size. What sparked the want to build such a massive amphitheater? Why is this so important? Years prior to the construction of the Colosseum, Rome was dealing with a massive civil war which destroyed the city. At the time of construction, Rome s emperor was Vespasian s and his decision to build the Colosseum on the site of Nero s lake can be seen as a gesture of returning a part of the city to the people which emperor Nero had appropriated for his own use (Roman Colosseum History). However, Vespasian never saw the completion of his Colosseum due to his untimely death. His son, Titus would go on to open the Colosseum to the public in AD 80. The Colosseum remained in service for 450 years. The Colosseum is also known as The Flavian Amphitheatre(Roman). The Colosseum had seating for
