A Woman s Prison By Henrik Ibsen Essay
A Woman s Prison
Ibsen s pla y, A Doll s House immediately encountered a spectrum of reactions ranging from strong
support to harsh criticism following its premier in 1879. Controversy came about over Nora s role
as an independent woman who makes her own decisions. The public s immediate response to Ibsen
s play reflects the shift occurring within society, centered on gender roles and women s place in the
mid to late 19th century. Ibsen s portrayal of women through Nora s role explores the ideas of
equality within marriage as well as women s individualism and their role within society.
Nora s character acts as a catalyst for Ibsen to portray women s standing as compared to their
male counterparts in different areas of society the home, marriage, workplace and in public
business. Through Ibsen s characterization of Nora, he explores these major themes of
controversy and pivotal change during the 1920 s. While Ibsen carefully refrains from
interjecting his own opinion, he successfully provides an accurate depiction of the power divide
in the household during the mid to late 19th century through his portrayal of Nora. Today s
marriages, known as a partnership between equals was once not regarded as equal at all. During
the 1920 s women held a rank below their husbands. Essentially, women were a pawn, leaving the
ownership of their father to be handed off to their husband. Nora explains the situation best stating:
I was simply transferred from Papa s hands to yours. You

Texas V. Johnson Congress Enacted The Flag Protection Act...
In response to the decision made in Texas v. Johnson, Congress enacted the Flag Protection Act
of 1989. The Act, this time focused not on simply prohibiting the desecration of a flag, but of
protecting the entire physical integrity of a flag. The Act did, however allow for the proper
disposal of old, torn, worn, or soiled flags. Congress did this with the purpose of removing
language that the courts might find made the statute a statute that aimed to suppress certain
kinds of expression. They also tried to challenge the Court and prior rulings to prohibit the
burning and desecration of American flags. After Congress passed this law, many burned flags
in protest. United States v. Eichman 496 U.S. 310 (1990) is a case following Texas v. Johnson in
which Shawn Eichman decided to challenge his arrest and conviction for burning of a flag under
the law to the Supreme Court. Eichman burned a flag on the steps of the U.S. Capitol protesting
against the government s domestic and foreign policies. He was prosecuted in violation of the
Flag Protection Act. When the Court looked at this case, they also reviewed the case of United
States v. Haggerty 496 U.S. 310 (1990). United States v. Haggerty involves defendant Mark
Haggerty who burned a flag in Seattle protesting against the passage of the Flag Protection Act. The
Court ruled against the government in both cases saying that the government had an interest in
protecting the physical integrity of a flag to preserve its symbol meaning,

Innovations in Handwriting Recognition Essay
Emergence networks mimics biological nervous system unleash generations of inventions and
discoveries in the artificial intelligent field. These networks have been introduced by McCulloch
and Pitts and called neural networks. Neural network s function is based on principle of extracting
the uniqueness of patterns through trained machines to understand the extracted knowledge.
Indeed, they gain their experiences from collected samples for known classes (patterns). Quick
development of neural networks promotes concept of the pattern recognition by proposing
intelligent systems such as handwriting recognition, speech recognition and face recognition. In
particular, Problem of handwriting recognition has been considered significantly during... Show

The first study discusses the basic operations of erosion and dilation and present a system to
recognize six handwritten digits. For this purpose, a novel method to recognize cursive and
degraded text has been found by Badr Haralick (1994 ) through using technology of OCR. Parts
of symbols (primitives) are detected to interpret the symbols with this method (KUMAR et al.
2010). The study involves mathematical morphology operations to perform the recognition
process. Cun et al. (1998) challenge this problem by designing a neural based classifier to
discriminate handwritten numeral. This study achieved a reliable system with very high accuracy
(over 99%) on the MINIST database. Moreover, the gradient and curvature of the grey character
image have been taken into consideration by Shi et al. (2002 ) to enhance the accuracy of
handwriting digits recognition. Uniquely, Teow Loe (2002 ) identify new idea to solve this
problem based on biological vision model with excellent results and very low error rate (0.59%).
The discoveries and development have been continuing through innovating new algorithms and
learning rules. Besides efficiency of using these rules individually in the machine learning, some
researchers have going further in developing the accuracy and performance of the learning by
mixing several rules to support one

Online Gambling And Online Casino
Blog 4 What can players expect more of when it comes to online casino gaming in 2016?
Considering it s January, it is no shock to see that online casino industry analysts are clambering
over themselves to issue predictions for the upcoming 12 months. While some of the predictions are
obvious, it seems that some online casino operators are focussing more on what players want.
Speaking on the matter, we have headed to both the polls and the online casino portals to discover
exactly what that is.
Calls for Anonymity
Big brother society has become an issue throughout the globe, as people are clearly worried about
less than honest government entities. Online casino players have showcased clear concerns
regarding privacy and following reports of NSA spying on British citizens. What this has brought
attention to is the fact that some online casinos just weren t doing enough to safeguard valued
members. While steps have been made to close the curtains as it were, it seems that online casino
players are calling for more of the same in 2016. Privacy was a hot topic last year and it looks like
it will remain so this year too.
Calls for a Challenge
In what was a huge reveal by Caesars Entertainment, it was detailed that millennial players found a
large percentage of online casino slot games boring. Gary Thompson said in his statement, Through
Caesars Entertainment backed research we have located a serious problem within the industry.
Reports show that younger players feel that

One of the main characteristics of the system is its decimal nature; therefore, the conversion
between smaller and larger units is made by moving the decimal point to the left of right. The SI
system of units (Systeme International d Unites), developed from the metric system, and has
been defined and recommended as the system of choice for scientific use worldwide. The
primary units in the SI system which are of interest to the motor mechanic are as follows:
QUANTITYUNITSYMBOL Length Meterm MassKilogramkg Capacity Litrel
TemperatureDegree CelsiusoC TemperatureDegree KelvinK TimeSeconds ForceNewtonN Heat
Joulej PowerWattw 4.0 Derived Units Derived units are those which can be expressed in terms
of the primary units so as to provide more units to work with. There is a primary unit for length,
but not for area or volume, however, it is possible to derive units for area and volume from the
primary units. Any area is measured as the products of two lengths. It can be said that an area
has the dimensions of (length) x (breadth) and so is measured in squared units. Area = length x
breadth and if the length of each of these is given in meters, then, area = m x m = m2 so the
derived unit for area is the square meter which is written m2. Another derived unit is that of
volume which is expressed in cubic meters written as m3Volume = length x breadth x height; m x
m x m = m3

Sixth Sense Theme
In the movie The Sixth Sense, directed by M. Night Shyamalan, there are numerous themes that
are brought to light. The theme that I am going to focus on for this paper is death as a part of life.
This theme is evident in this film because Dr. Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) is shot in the first
scene and passes on but the movie continues to show his afterlife without revealing that Dr. Crowe
has actually passed on. Deathas a part of life is also plays a big role with the young boy Cole
(Haley Joel Osment). He is able to see the ghosts of people that have died and listens to them but he
can also communicate with them, which turns out to be very important to the development of the
story.
The first scene where death as a part of life is evident is from the very beginning of the film.
It appears to be a familiar tale of a psychologist, doctor, or lawyer who wants to compensate for a
past failure by helping someone with a similar problem. Crowe feels that he failed his former
patient, Vincent Grey . ( La Caze 1) this is when Vincent Grey (Donnie Wahlberg) shoots Dr.
Crowe and then takes his own life in the bathroom of Dr. Crowes house. This supports the movies
theme because Vincent was one of Dr. Crowes patients who had problems... Show more content on

Crowe is meeting with Cole in his mother s home. The viewer at this point of the film does not
know that Dr. Crowe is dead but Cole is able to tell that he is because he is able to see and speak
to the deceased. Dr. Crowe is able to play a little game with the kid so that way the he will earn
his trust and open up to him about what is going on in his life. Dr. Crowe is able to recall events
from when he has dealt with other troubled kids working with his pervious patients. By playing
this game, the kid is able to speak to him and he sort of lets him in on what is currently going on
with his life and the issues that he is having by seeing

Comparing Godwin And Wolstonecraft-Wollstonecraft
This contingency was not unique to Goethe; rather, it continued to shape Romanticism as it spread
through England and Europe from the 1790 s to Queen Victoria s ascension in 1837. The works of
the Godwin Wollstonecraft Shelley family particularly espouse the correlation between children,
education, and women. William Godwin s treatise Enquiry on Political Justice (1793) outlines a
theory of education that illustrates the Romantic fascination with children; like Rousseau, Godwin
claims that children are naturally predisposed to good or are a sort of raw material put into
[parents] hands, a ductile and yielding substance (36 7). Further following Rousseau s example,
Godwin places the potential for moral and political regeneration with children,... Show more content

Whereas Godwin and Wollstonecraft s work only possess traces of the eternal feminine, Shelley
shares Goethe s fascination with the Gothic and the sublime. In Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein
s cousin and fiancГ©e Elizabeth combines Charlotte and Gretchen into one character. Like
Charlotte, the deaths of her maternal influences force Elizabeth to become a surrogate mother to
her young cousin William. Victor also idealizes Elizabeth in the way Werther worships Charlotte,
describing how, Since the death of her aunt . . . she felt that the most imperious duty of rendering
her uncle and cousins happy, had devolved upon her (2). Here, Elizabeth adheres to Goethe s
vision of the virtuous mother who wholly devotes herself to her children and family. Although
Elizabeth possesses Charlotte s moral purity, her tragic death aligns with Gretchen s fate. Like
Gretchen, Elizabeth fails as a mother when Victor s monster murders her surrogate son, William.
While the monster kills Elizabeth to spite Victor, her death establishes a correlation between her
life and status as a mother; if Elizabeth cannot protect or help her children, she possesses no value
as an individual. She simply becomes a disposable prop that resolves

911 First Responders
This paper is for the people that seem to do great things for the community, but receive such little
recognition in return. 911 first responders (dispatchers, Firefighters, police officers, etc.) is the
epitome of a lifesaver . These people choose to risk their lives and give up time with their family
to save yours. Yet, believe it or not they receive little compensation for the work they do. Having
personal experience in the matter as my mother is a 911 dispatcher. Not only does the job take a toll
on these people financially, but also their physical and mental health are at risk. As we should
make sure that the people that selflessly care about our well being be taken care of. Most people
are willing to pay $200 for a concert ticket, but would gripe over paying that in medical bills.

King Kong Comparison Essay
The original 1933 King Kong was created as a movie: to convey a story and entertain and
audience. Peter Jackson s 2005 remake took the foundation for King Kong and expanded upon it
in almost every way in order to make again the amazement of the original for a modern audience.
Audiences received the original King Kongvery well. The stop motionsequences of Kong were
amazing for their time and the movie grossed $90,000 in its opening weekend. In order to bank
upon its success again sequels were made and then in 1976 a remake was made to improve upon
the original. Paramount updated the movie to color, changed the story, and cast Jeff Bridges, a well
known actorof the time, as the lead. Although the movie received mixed reviews, it did... Show

While Jackson s remake is true to the original for the most part, there are some small changes
made in order to make the movie more appealing. In the original King Kong it is the lead actor in
the movie that saves the damsel in distress but in the 2005 remake it is the scriptwriter that saves
the female actress. This change is likely due to the recent trend of heroes coming from unlikely
places. Studios know that if a movie does well the first time, it is likely to do well the second
time and even the third time. King Kong is no exception. Producers can presume that the glory
of the original will pass on to the remake since audiences hope for that feeling again. Whether the
movie is better or not doesn t matter. Audiences will go to see King Kong over the years because
the remakes are associated with the original. Every King Kong remake is based on the same
principles: wanting to create a movie that will capture audiences and instill in them a sense of
wonderment and awe. The original did this and the remakes try to do it again. Directors, producers,
and studios may change the story, update the actors and technology but they are essentially just
trying to cash in on the success of the original. Take a good idea, update it, and reap the benefits

The Crisis Management Lesson From Toyota And Gm
The Crisis Management Lesson from Toyota and GM: It s Our Problem the Moment We Hear
About It
Delay in confronting crises is deadly. Corporate leaders must have processes for learning of
important safety issues. Then they must seize control immediately and lead a systematic response.
Crisis management is the ultimate stress test for the CEO and other top leaders of companies. The
mantra for all leaders in crisis management must be: It is our problem the moment we hear about
it. We will be judged from that instant forward for everything we do and don t do.
These are key lessons for leaders in all types of businesses from the front page stories about Toyota
s and GM s separate, lengthy delays in responding promptly and fully to reports of deadly accidents
possibly linked to product defects.
The news focus has been on regulatory investigations and enforcement relating to each company,
but the ultimate question is why the company leaders didn t forcefully address the possible defect
issues when deaths started to occur.
On the recent regulatory front:
Toyota just agreed to pay $1.2 billion in a deferred prosecution agreement with DOJ and accept a
safety monitor for failing to disclose to regulators and indeed misleading them about accelerators
that became stuck on certain types of floor mats or because of certain elements in the accelerator
itself. The problem of uncontrolled speeding and deadly crashes began to appear in 2007, but it

Haarp Research Paper
HAARP.
Ever heard of it? Probably not, unless you just happen to live in Alaska. HAARP stands for the
High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program, which is an ionosphere research program that
was funded by a combination of the U.S. Air Force, the University of Alaska, the Defense
Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), and the U.S. Navy. This information comes from
their own website.
Hold on... They are funded by DARPA? That s weird. What s a defense agency funding an
ionosphere research program? Are they considering HAARP a weapon? Hmm...
According to HAARP, their sole purpose is to analyze the ionosphere and investigate the potential
for developing ionosphere enhancement technology for radio communications and surveillance.

The VHF/UHF is used as return feedback from the excited atoms in the ionosphere. The digisonde
is used to target objects on a double three dimensional plane. As for the magnetometers, they
measure magnetization in the ionosphere to indicate polarity and charge amount.
The problem we have here is that we have a weapon that has been used for environmental
warfare. True, the main purpose the contractors had in mind was to detect anomalies in the
ionosphere by bursting it with energy, but if you just think back to science class, when you excite
atoms, they collide and after some duration of time, cause lots of heat. Of course, this is limited,
but let s say you want to play dangerous. Paired with doping agents like arsenic and boron (which
happen to cause Alzheimer s disease) in the atmosphere, you can turn the sky into a giant capacitor

you are extremely high in the atmosphere, that is not normal. They are actually chemical trails from

Red Deer River Oil Spill
Plains Midstream company is the cause of this big oil spill in Red Deer River. The big cause of
the oil spill was when a pipeline that was owned by Plains Midstream had been broken and was
not functioning correctly as it was supposed to. The pipe is supposed to process the oil through
it and around to make the oil. However, the pipe actually did not do this and the oil had gone
around and it had been broken since there were old pipes and not new ones. Almost half a
million of crude oil had been leaked into the creek of Red Deer River so the people had been
very devastated about this occurring because instead of enjoying the view, all they see is a lot of
oil that had polluted their water and there whole community with dirty water. The people... Show

If the oil spill is very big than it could take months to get out all of the oil because it really
depends on how fast you also clean it. If the spill is very little than it may just take days to clean
up to the spill. One big way to clean up a big oil spill is something called the Skimmer this is a
machine that goes through the water and it collects oil and removes it but sometimes the
Skimmer collects oil and saves it because not all of the oil that is in the water is bad. But, the oil
that is bad is taken out and removed completely. Another method to take out oil is something
called the Boom this is a barrier that traps oil inside the barrier and it reduces to pollute
shorelines and other resources around it, and it also makes the water recover faster to make it
normal once again. At the same time oil skimmers cost a pretty good amount to, it starts at
194.99 dollars for one machine and since the spill was in a pond you would need a lot of these
skimmers to clean all of the oil. You could use another big method to clean up the oil is
bioremediation this is a place where it s a waste management area, therefore you could use this to
clean up all of the bacteria and oil, but there is also a really big cost to clean all of the oil. For 1
cubic yard it costs around 50 dollars, so this shows that if you have a

Left Pedal Pedal
The Left Pedal: The clutch pedal is actually a three position pedal. When fully depressed it puts
the T in low gear. When let off halfway, you are in neutral and when released all the way out you
are in second or high gear. This last position is only true if you have the hand lever pushed all the
way forward. If the hand lever is half way back or all the way back the clutchpedal is in neutral. It
is a little safety feature of the Model T Ford transmission so if the hand lever is back or halfway
forward, you have to actively push the clutch pedal in to make the car move. For the beginner, it
is best to leave the hand lever in the halfway position while you are starting to drive the T. This
way you only have to deal with low gear while you get a feel for the clutch and brakes. Your
instructor will let you start out in low gear so you can get the feel of how you can speed up and
slow down using the throttle. Yes, the engine will help you slow down in low gear if you push the
right lever under the steering wheel all the way forward. You don t have to rely solely on the
brakes to slow and stop you. Putting the car in low gear by pushing the clutch pedal and moving
the throttle lever up is a great way to slow down for turns and stop lights without going into neutral.
It is actually the preferred way to reduce speed. Practice pushing the clutch into low gear and letting

You use it to slow the car and to stop the car. As pointed out before, you should use the engine to
slow the T but at some point when you need to stop, you must release the clutch pedal halfway or

right brake pedal. Because of the three pedals, the brake is used the most, it pays to use the
engine to slow the car. As we will point out next, using the reverse pedal to slow the car to save

Odysseus Archetype Analysis
There was a man who was willing to risk his whole life through many difficult obstacles just to
return to his family and home. The man who is willing to risk his whole life just to return home, a
mogul, and a hard worker is Odysseus. During this long heroic journey, Odysseus travels for a long
time and faces many common archetypes including monsters and temptresses. One major archetype
in this novel is the herojourney Odysseusis in because it includes all the ups and downs the main
characterfaces. An archetype is common patterns we view in movies and books. This novel takes
place during the Greek era where they idolized Xenia because they thought it was respectful to
take care of their house guests. The Greeks admired Xenia because the Greek gods sometimes
dressed up as paupers to visit people. Furthermore, the Greeks had many fears and theories about
the world, so they believed everything revolved around the gods. Throughout the Odyssey, many
of the archetypes related to Greek culture such as Hero s journey, monsters, and temptresses. The
tasks it takes to be a hero are saving, leading, and conquering. In the Odyssey, Odysseus makes
sure that no one taste the Lotus (pg.564) in order for his men to get home. Not only was that, but
Odysseus s journey home another example of the Hero archetype. During the Odyssey, the tale of

Figure 1: The biggest priority for drinking water The Figure 1 illustrates the effect of quality, cost,
availability and smell to drinking water habits of overseas students in Australia and their home
countries. The majority of students agreed that the quality of water was the most important element
for drinking water regardless in Australia or home countries. When international students came to
Australia, they were also less care about the quality of water as they were in their own countries.
There was 74% of respondents said that they considered about quality of water in their own

Gait Assessment
Gait is the most important function of daily living activities for all human beings. As physical
therapists and researchers we are particularly interested in evaluation of gait. There is a distinct
necessity for objective measurement of gait because without it the excellence of treatment decisions
is condensed, due to subjective and often unreliable nature of the assessment. Objective measures
must be employed to validate efficacy of the treatment protocol, a function that has become
imperative since health care resources are becoming more strained and health care providers are
held more accountable1. Gait assessment is an everyday responsibility of the therapist, and visual
assessment seems unreliable and erratic for the most part. Measurement... Show more content on

Pros And Cons Of Privatizing The United States
Privatizing the United States air traffic control operations may move closer to becoming a reality
in 2017 something most airline companies and other industry leaders have been pushing for a
long time. Proponents of shifting away from government control introduced a bill last year that
the incoming president has expressed a willingness to carefully consider. Rep. Bill Shuster (R),
who helped draft the legislation, sees the long overdue shift to satellite based air traffic
management as the solution to lower costs for operators, while making air traffic safer and more
efficient for all stakeholders. Whether global air travel is privately run or government controlled,

Supporters for privatizing air traffic control claim that it is time to address long delays and
inefficiencies in an aging airspace network that doesn t fully utilize modern aviation technology.
UK based NATS projects delays will exponentially increase from the current 90,000 minutes a year
to approximately 4 million in the next 15 years unless the United Kingdom government invests in
modernization by replacing outdated airspace technology by switching to satellite based control. In
the United States the federal government has a history of moving at a snail s pace when it comes
to updating national infrastructure. For example, New York City just completed a subway upgrade
that was originally approved in 1929. A revamping of the system similar to the innovative changes
that transformed call center voice recording equipment from simple recording devices to systems
that capture conversations and enable digital archiving and instant sharing via cloud based
technology, will help modernize our airspace management strategies. The time to act is now if we

The Mafia And The Mafia
original name in Italy.Mafia originated in Sicily today in Italy and Corsica in France, and refers to
the criminal organization of a local secret association.
Today, these criminal organizations are not only active in Italy. For more than 100 years (mainly
in the early 20th century), they have spread all over the world, especially on the east coast of the
United States, with the migration of Italians. Their forces in the United States rose during the Great
Depression and reached their height by the mid 20th century until a series of FBI investigations
broke down in the 1970s and 1980s. Their actions include assassinations, illegal trade and
obstruction of justice. Although their power is far behind, they still affect the trend culture of the
United States. Many movies, TV shows and even advertisements are related to their image or life.
Today, the term mafiarefers not only to these Italian offenders. Affected by the organization, similar
groups of mafias, such as the Russian mafia, have emerged in other parts of the world. Sometimes
referred to as local mafia, these elements are still referred to by the daily mafia, still referring to
the group of Sicilian criminals in the United States. On the other hand, the same is Italian, but the
criminal organization located in Napoli is not called the mafia, but another name is Camorra .

Example Of Tabula Rasha
Intro Idea 1: Pschology Tabula Rasa. From latin, it is a rough translation to Clean Slate. In swift
explanation, all babies are born with nothing in their brains. They are a clean slate. They have
committed no sins, they have no idea the value of life. They just know that a bright light has
burned their corneas and a breath as forced its way into their body as they experience life in the
world for the first time. Blissfully ignorant. Then, the environment around them is what makes
their cognition and psychological choices. Example: Mean mom + Mean dad = Mean Offspring.
Or Nice Mom + Nice Dad = Nice offspring. Then whatever they see more of, they grasp hold of.
The idea we are built from nothing, has been disproven with today s studies in psychology. Yet,
imagine tabula rasa trying to explain suicide. The environment around someone had to become so
violent and destructive from the start that it left them with one final option of meeting their creator
with a self stamped passport on a rope, bullet, bottle, razor, pill, edge, or forcing themselves. Their
lives from the start had yet to show them the value of life and the way a catalyst... Show more

dances primarily differed from those of Latin Dance, such as the Rumba, Samba and Mambo, but
do have some similarities as well. Here are some of the observations and comparisons I have made
after watching the videos on these dances. In the Lindy Hop, I noticed the dancing to be
representative of primarily men in the beginning of the dance. Later on, women did come into the
dance to join the man. The two stayed in relatively the same space the entire time while dancing,
and the movements were not super fast. There was, however, a lot of body movements going on in
that time. The music became progessively faster over the course of the video, and

A Research On Target Behavior
Target Behavior: Jack Winslow is an 8 year old boy in a 1st grade at risk class. He enjoys his
daily classroom jobs and his classmates. Jack has lots of energy and is the smallest in his class.
He tries to engage with his peers but it is usually awkward and unsuccessful. The targeted student
is functioning well academically. There are no deficits in reading and comprehension. He solves
math word problems slowly but works well with computation and number facts. Jack is currently
being evaluated because he constantly blurts out in class when he has something to say. Ms. Gray,
his teacher, complains that he constantly blurts out instead of raising his hand. She has also
mentioned that he calls her name constantly when she does not answer immediately. The
inappropriate behavior of blurting must be changed because these types of interruptions usually
get other students off track and prevent others from engaging fully in class activities. It is
important that the antecedents and consequences that trigger Jacks behavior are addressed. If this
inappropriate behavior that Jack display is not changed, other students will begin to follow his
lead and start to blurt out also. Changing the inappropriate behavior of blurting out, should include
strategies that are positive reinforcements to increase the desirable responses from Jack. Jack
should be able to wait for the teacher s response and ask question when called on. Once this
behavior is extinct, Jack should be able to self

John Cage Is The Epitome Of A Cutting Edge Composer
John cage is the epitome of a cutting edge composer. This is due to the fact that cage has achieved
an appreciation for music which is unmatched by any other composer. Cage enjoys sounds because
of their dynamics and their lengths, something other composers usually overlook. This gives him
the advantage to compose musicin a unique manner; he can make music that is unmatched by
others. This is what undoubtedly makes him one of the most influential composers of the 20th
century. One significant reason why cage is considered unique is because of his experimentation
with unorthodox instruments such as the prepared pianoand tape recorder. This was in efforts to
break the musical boundaries of traditional music in the west, this style was a change from his
traditional musical styles early on in his career, which were more alike to his mentors and
followed more of 12 tone style. The ideas brought forward by cage made him more of a
philosopher than a composer, he broke the normal role of a composer by encouraging people to
focus on sounds rather than music and by promoting eastern philosophies, specifically Zen
Buddhism. He has extended his teachings for years to come after his death by publishing many
books such as silence and lectures and writings . Cage always placed an emphasis on the ideas
conveyed by his music more than how they sounded, for example cage composed a piece in which
the performers are silent, only with ambient sounds in the background. This goes to show

Marketing Plan For Whole Foods Essay
Thirty six years ago John Mackey started a grocery store based on his vision of a business that
provides customers only natural foods. Based on a simple but effective business model, Whole
Foods has grown to a position of market leadership that is now being challenged by low cost
organic sellers. According to Feldman (as cited in Giammona, 2015) Whole Foodscontinues to face
challenges from competitors going after organic and natural foods more aggressively (para. 4). The
company s differentiation edge against lower cost competitors is fading as competitors have been
successfully emulating the Whole Foods experience (Sharma,2015).Furthermore, Wahba (2016)
noted that the company s Whole Paycheck reputation is hurting sales and driving customers away
to other low priced organic foodcompetitors.
Whole Foods needs to reduce prices due to the new competitive landscape. Since the grocery
industry runs on very low profit margins, in order to reduce prices the company needs to reduce
costs. Whole Foods can leverage its size along with the company s value proposition of working
with local farmers to develop more efficient collaborative networks. The creation of partnerships in
integrated networks opens up opportunities to take advantage of complementary costs structures,
the respective partner s technical expertise, market knowledge and brand equity (reputation)

Michael Eisner Disney America
Michael Eisner underestimated the public relation and marketing aspect of the Disney America
Theme Park. Pinkleton, Austin, Zhou, Willoughby and Reiser (2012) stated: a healthy, well
functioning democracy depends on the participation of engaged citizens who understand the
political process and keep informed about the actions of their governmentand public officials (p.
24). Likewise, Eisner misjudged the media s reaction to the creation of a Disney theme park.
Schlichting (2014) concluded, journalists were still seen as the most powerful mediators of the
public sphere and hence the key stakeholders of the public path of public affairs management(p.
414).
Therefore, this case study is an example of a large corporation attempting to implement its will
amongst the people and our democracy allowed them to fight against the measure. Moreover, Eisner

The Negative Effects of Twilight
The vampire craze has taken over what young teenagers today indulge themselves in regards to
reading material. But has this new fad had a negative effect on teens? Some of theses books (for
example the Twilight series written by Stephanie Meyer) have portrayed an example for
teenagers and even adults that should be more closely examined. A hundred years ago, books for
kids were dominated with stories about boys having adventures and girls finding husbands; then,
from the 1950s to the 1970s, the themes were emerging sexuality and parental conflict. The
current age of young adult literature contains a large chunk of stories of teenage girls falling in
love with the supernatural. Multiple books about girls getting into relationships with vampires
and werewolves have risen in the past 10 years. Maria Nikolajeva, a Cambridge University
professor of literature stated that We don t know exactly how literature affects the brain, but we
know that it does; some new findings have identified spots in the brain that respond to literature
and art. (Live Science) Knowing that literature affects the brain and how it develops, we should be
cautious as to what we are giving to the younger generation to read. The youth of today are being
overwhelmed with multiple messages on what to look for in a partner, and what constitutes as a
normal relationship (Chang). If you use Twilightas an example for these messages that are being
broadcasted, it is clear to see that the examples that have

Antibiotics Combat Infectious Bacteria
Introduction:
Antibiotics have the ability to kill or hinder the growth of bacteria. Antibiotics contain compounds
that are naturally produced by organisms to combat diseases caused by microbes. Discovery of
penicillin by Sir Alexander Fleming became the first stepping stone of many new antibiotics of
today s modern medicine. Antibiotics typically invade the very components that make up bacteria,
such as cell walls and metabolic pathways (Sato et al., 2014). However, frequent mutations of
bacteria cause today s strains to become more resistant. One of many ways which bacteria undergo
mutation is through horizontal transfer of genes (Lindsay J.A., 2013). The war against disease is a
battle that humanity has fought for centuries, and only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Polymyxin B is known to only be effective against Gram negative bacteria, which was consistent
with the collected data. Gram positive effective antibiotics and protein synthesis inhibitors such as
azithromycin and tetracycline were expected to be ineffective to Gram negative bacteria, along
with DNA dependent RNA polymerase inhibitor such as rifampin. However, contrasting results
were depicted after 48 hours of incubation at 37вЃ°C. The bacteria appeared to be susceptible to
azithromycin when the bacteria were anticipated to be resistant. This discrepancy could be
explained through the molecular mechanism of azithromycin. Azithromycin induces adenine
methylation in the rRNA in the 50S ribosomal subunit, and past experiments have indicated that it
has a higher affinity for the erythromycin binding site for the ribosome to cause azithromycin to
be more susceptible in Gram negative bacteria (Retsema et al., 1987). In addition, a polypeptide
inhibitor such as penicillin was anticipated to be susceptible to the Gram negative bacteria, but it
was displayed to be resistant. Penicillin is known to be a ОІ lactam antibiotic consisting of ОІ
lactam ring that inhibits the cell wall synthesis of Enterobacteriaceae. A prevalent mechanism for
resistance to ОІ lactam antibiotic is hyperproduction of ОІ lactamase (Philippon et al., 2002).
Moreover, it is proposed that bacteria are resistant to penicillin due to the formation of microbial
colony biofilm (Thomson

What Is Phonological Awareness
Phonological awareness is when children learn to associate sounds with symbols and create
links to word recognition and decoding skills. It consists of skills that develop through the
preschool period. Phonological awareness is an important part of learning to read and write,
children who have a broad range of phonics are able to identify and make oral rhymes, are able to
clap out the syllables in a word and can recognise words with the same initial sounds. Phonological
awareness is a good indicator whether your student will have a potential readingdifficulty and with
the many activities and resources available to us you can develop a child s awareness early on in a
child s education.

The design focuses on dealing with different groups in the city, heir changing forms in spatial

Essay about New Year Celeration Between Vietnam and America
New Year Holiday between the United States and Vietnam
New Years is an exciting holiday in many countries. It marks a new period of time with the pure
and pristine beginning for individuals. Every country has a unique cultural celebration and specific
traditions depending on where you live. However, there is a big difference between how Asian
people and Western people celebrate New Year
. The three most noticeable differences are in the
preparation, travel and length of the holiday will be last. The first big different between those two
countries is the preparation for New Year Day. In the United States, they use the Gregorian
calendar so people celebrate New Year on January first. Christmasday is an important holiday to ...

hometowns. People go back to help their family to clean the houses or together with their

celebration between these two countries is not the same. New Years in the United States only
has two days to celebrate. People celebrate on New Year s Eve and New Year s Day. After New
Year Day, everything will be back to normal, people are back to their work, and be ready for a
new year ahead. However, the spirit of Tet in Vietnamese people usually lasts more than a week,
but the Tet official is the first three days of January in lunar calendar. The first day of Tet is the
day for family. People gather together to wish everybody in the family the best year ahead; then
elderly people give red envelops that have money inside to younger people which is considering

day is a day for friends or just stay at home to enjoy the food and the spirit of Tet. Although Tet is

The Norm Of Conformity
According to an article by Saul McLeod in Simple Psychology, conformity is a type of social
influence involving a change in belief or behavior in order to fit in with a group (McLeod What ).
It is not an uncommon experience in life to encounter yourself or others yielding to group pressure.
Sometimes the situation is as simple as the celebration of some random basketball team making it
through to the next playoff game, not actually caring who shot that winning basket, but joining in
the excitement because it would be considered the norm within that social group. So for years now
scientists of all specialties have been asking the question, why is it that people conform, and where
will they draw the line? To explain, in 1955 Deutsch, M

Anarchy State And Utopia Summary
As part of his book, Anarchy, State and Utopia, Nozick puts forward his theory of the minimal
state. He argues that individuals in a state of nature would voluntarily form protective agencies to
ensure that their rights are effectively defended. Because of network effects and economies of
scale, one of the agencies will eventually achieve a dominant position where it would have the right
to suppress the activities of the other agencies. There is the need to suppress these activities
because they would subject the clients of the dormant agencyto the risk of rightsviolation. This
prohibition will be effective provided the dominant agency compensates the disadvantaged parties
by according them with the protectionof their rights. After this has occurred there will be a single

Two mechanisms can bring about the pattern from a set of actions and intentions not aiming the
pattern. The first mechanism is the filtering process where filters eliminate all other entities that
do not fit into a certain pattern. The second mechanism is the equilibrium process where each
component part adapts to the local conditions so that a pattern is realized. Nozick s account of the
rise of a state uses both mechanisms. There is the presumption that people seek to act justly and
use private reason to act with good faith in interpreting the moral law. In the account t of the rise
of the minimal state, people act to protect themselves and have no desire of spending a lot of time
being asked to protect others. These individuals also do not want to engage with contentious and
quarrelsome individuals and they seek to make the most out of their money. These individuals are

Expectancy theory recommends that individuals will adjust the level of exertion they put into
make it reasonable contrasted with others as per their observations. So on the off chance that a
same raise is given this year, it will be a significantly less exertion, this theory proposes that I
would scale back the exertion I put in. Different speculations don t take into account the same
level of uniqueness between individuals. This model considers singular recognitions and along
these lines individual histories, permitting an extravagance of reaction not clear in Maslow or
McClelland, who accept that individuals are basically all the same. Vroom s expectancy theory
could likewise be overlaid over another hypothesis (e.g. Maslow). Maslow could be utilized to
depict which results individuals are inspired by and Vroom to portray whether they will act based
upon their experience and desires. The ramifications of Vroom s expectancy is that individuals
change their level of exertion as indicated by the quality they put on the reward they get from the
procedure and on their impression of the quality of the connections in the middle of exertion and
result. Along these lines, on the off chance that somebody sees that any of these is

The Importance Of Social Deviance
Deviance is a concept that sociologists tend to struggle coming up with one widely accepted
definition for. It is a concept that impacts everyone in a given society, either directly or
indirectly, and is generally defined as Variation from a set of norms or shared social
expectations. (Laurence Basirico, Barbara Cashion, J. Ross Eshleman 2014:195) Society often
views social deviance as a negative thing that disrupts that natural order and guidelines of a
society, but it also has many positive functions to it. Society can help, define the limits of social
tolerance , Increase the solidarity and integration of a group , Serve as a safety valve for social
discontent , and indicate defects of inadequacies in the existing social organization. (Basirico,
2014:195). All of these positive functions of a deviant behavior tend to lead towards positive
change in a society that although may serve as a culture shock to the society at first, such as
equality for LGBT groups, it will eventually become beneficial to the society and make it a
healthier and more sustainable one. Without deviant behavior, the society becomes stagnant and
will die, much like a living organism s cells becoming stagnant, and the organism dying. Although
social deviance can bring productive change to a society, it is still important to understand that it
can lead to dysfunctions and be harmful to the society, as well as the people within it. Dysfunctions
of society can be things such as,

Creating A Skilled Baseball Player
Practice makes perfect, however, the skills are required to receive intensive training in order to
be a skilled baseball player. Practice makes perfect meaning the more you do something, the better
you will become at it. There are three essential ways of training to build my skills as a baseball
player: batting a baseballis a tough skill to grasp, catching a fly ball is a very difficult thing to do,
and running the bases are critical skill to develop. Everything is tough when I started to playlittle
league baseball at age of nine. Meanwhile, it takes me three years to make it perfect. Perfection is
almost impossible to accomplish, but perfection is impossible without practice. Firstly, batting a
baseball is a tough skill to grasp. In my first year, my batting was terrible and I had only one hit
in twenty games. During the off season, I took a lot of time to practice on batting from the
baseball field, batting cage, and batting tee with my head coach. My head coach wants me to work

Odysseus, An Egotistical Cretin
Odysseus tells Athena, whom he believes is a shepherd, a false account, of how he came to Ithaca,
primarily since he needs to keep his identity a secret, familiarize himself with the situation on
Ithaca and formulate a plan to execute the suitors. He perceives that he has arrived in a mist
shrouded and unknown land. And thus secondarily, he needs to present a feasible reason for being
alone and stranded with copious amounts of treasure for safety reasons as well as to allay suspicion
in relation to his identity. Athenaaffects how he tells his lie because he can see and listen to her. To

Hence, this absence of kleos portrays Odysseus as calculating, merciless and dishonorable. This
would warn the shepherd not to try to steal from Odysseus as Orsilokhos attempted because
Odysseus does not care for glory and will slaughter him in any way he can whether or not it
damages his reputation. The images evoked from Troy, all I had fought and bled for , serve to
somewhat justify his murder of Orsilokhos and show some appreciation for honest work, when it
serves him, and could function to make the shepherd feel less fear towards a murderous foreigner.
Mostly, this information gives the shepherd a distinct warning not to attempt to harm or steal from
him because not only is he a hardened warrior who survived a ten year war at Troy, but he has
already murdered royalty, dishonorably, in his own homeland for trying to take his hard earned
possessions. Obviously, he would have no qualms about killing a shepherd in a different country for
attempting the same.
Odysseus also mentions that he was not subservient to Idomeneus at Troy. He even led a command
of men not under Idomeneus, which would be skirting on treason. Though it was not admirable to
disregard duty, it allowed Odysseus a unit of men who would presumably die for him and could
potentially be used to overthrow Idomeneus

known as possibly life threatening, the logical explanation is that it is illegal or illegal for people
under a certain age. In this case being illegal is not the explanation, when in fact this substance is

  • 2. A Woman s Prison By Henrik Ibsen Essay A Woman s Prison Ibsen s pla y, A Doll s House immediately encountered a spectrum of reactions ranging from strong support to harsh criticism following its premier in 1879. Controversy came about over Nora s role as an independent woman who makes her own decisions. The public s immediate response to Ibsen s play reflects the shift occurring within society, centered on gender roles and women s place in the mid to late 19th century. Ibsen s portrayal of women through Nora s role explores the ideas of equality within marriage as well as women s individualism and their role within society. Nora s character acts as a catalyst for Ibsen to portray women s standing as compared to their male counterparts in different areas of society the home, marriage, workplace and in public business. Through Ibsen s characterization of Nora, he explores these major themes of controversy and pivotal change during the 1920 s. While Ibsen carefully refrains from interjecting his own opinion, he successfully provides an accurate depiction of the power divide in the household during the mid to late 19th century through his portrayal of Nora. Today s marriages, known as a partnership between equals was once not regarded as equal at all. During the 1920 s women held a rank below their husbands. Essentially, women were a pawn, leaving the ownership of their father to be handed off to their husband. Nora explains the situation best stating: I was simply transferred from Papa s hands to yours. • 3. Texas V. Johnson Congress Enacted The Flag Protection Act... In response to the decision made in Texas v. Johnson, Congress enacted the Flag Protection Act of 1989. The Act, this time focused not on simply prohibiting the desecration of a flag, but of protecting the entire physical integrity of a flag. The Act did, however allow for the proper disposal of old, torn, worn, or soiled flags. Congress did this with the purpose of removing language that the courts might find made the statute a statute that aimed to suppress certain kinds of expression. They also tried to challenge the Court and prior rulings to prohibit the burning and desecration of American flags. After Congress passed this law, many burned flags in protest. United States v. Eichman 496 U.S. 310 (1990) is a case following Texas v. Johnson in which Shawn Eichman decided to challenge his arrest and conviction for burning of a flag under the law to the Supreme Court. Eichman burned a flag on the steps of the U.S. Capitol protesting against the government s domestic and foreign policies. He was prosecuted in violation of the Flag Protection Act. When the Court looked at this case, they also reviewed the case of United States v. Haggerty 496 U.S. 310 (1990). United States v. Haggerty involves defendant Mark Haggerty who burned a flag in Seattle protesting against the passage of the Flag Protection Act. The Court ruled against the government in both cases saying that the government had an interest in protecting the physical integrity of a flag to preserve its symbol meaning, ... These networks have been introduced by McCulloch and Pitts and called neural networks. Neural network s function is based on principle of extracting the uniqueness of patterns through trained machines to understand the extracted knowledge. Indeed, they gain their experiences from collected samples for known classes (patterns). Quick development of neural networks promotes concept of the pattern recognition by proposing intelligent systems such as handwriting recognition, speech recognition and face recognition. In particular, Problem of handwriting recognition has been considered significantly during... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first study discusses the basic operations of erosion and dilation and present a system to recognize six handwritten digits. For this purpose, a novel method to recognize cursive and degraded text has been found by Badr Haralick (1994 ) through using technology of OCR. Parts of symbols (primitives) are detected to interpret the symbols with this method (KUMAR et al. 2010). The study involves mathematical morphology operations to perform the recognition process. Cun et al. (1998) challenge this problem by designing a neural based classifier to discriminate handwritten numeral. This study achieved a reliable system with very high accuracy (over 99%) on the MINIST database. Moreover, the gradient and curvature of the grey character image have been taken into consideration by Shi et al. (2002 ) to enhance the accuracy of handwriting digits recognition. Uniquely, Teow Loe (2002 ) identify new idea to solve this problem based on biological vision model with excellent results and very low error rate (0.59%). The discoveries and development have been continuing through innovating new algorithms and learning rules. Besides efficiency of using these rules individually in the machine learning, some researchers have going further in developing the accuracy and performance of the learning by mixing several rules to support one ... • 5. Online Gambling And Online Casino Blog 4 What can players expect more of when it comes to online casino gaming in 2016? Considering it s January, it is no shock to see that online casino industry analysts are clambering over themselves to issue predictions for the upcoming 12 months. While some of the predictions are obvious, it seems that some online casino operators are focussing more on what players want. Speaking on the matter, we have headed to both the polls and the online casino portals to discover exactly what that is. Calls for Anonymity Big brother society has become an issue throughout the globe, as people are clearly worried about less than honest government entities. Online casino players have showcased clear concerns regarding privacy and following reports of NSA spying on British citizens. What this has brought attention to is the fact that some online casinos just weren t doing enough to safeguard valued members. While steps have been made to close the curtains as it were, it seems that online casino players are calling for more of the same in 2016. Privacy was a hot topic last year and it looks like it will remain so this year too. Calls for a Challenge In what was a huge reveal by Caesars Entertainment, it was detailed that millennial players found a large percentage of online casino slot games boring. Gary Thompson said in his statement, Through Caesars Entertainment backed research we have located a serious problem within the industry. Reports show that younger players feel that ... One of the main characteristics of the system is its decimal nature; therefore, the conversion between smaller and larger units is made by moving the decimal point to the left of right. The SI system of units (Systeme International d Unites), developed from the metric system, and has been defined and recommended as the system of choice for scientific use worldwide. The primary units in the SI system which are of interest to the motor mechanic are as follows: QUANTITYUNITSYMBOL Length Meterm MassKilogramkg Capacity Litrel TemperatureDegree CelsiusoC TemperatureDegree KelvinK TimeSeconds ForceNewtonN Heat Joulej PowerWattw 4.0 Derived Units Derived units are those which can be expressed in terms of the primary units so as to provide more units to work with. There is a primary unit for length, but not for area or volume, however, it is possible to derive units for area and volume from the primary units. Any area is measured as the products of two lengths. It can be said that an area has the dimensions of (length) x (breadth) and so is measured in squared units. Area = length x breadth and if the length of each of these is given in meters, then, area = m x m = m2 so the derived unit for area is the square meter which is written m2. Another derived unit is that of volume which is expressed in cubic meters written as m3Volume = length x breadth x height; m x m x m = m3 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Sixth Sense Theme In the movie The Sixth Sense, directed by M. Night Shyamalan, there are numerous themes that are brought to light. The theme that I am going to focus on for this paper is death as a part of life. This theme is evident in this film because Dr. Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) is shot in the first scene and passes on but the movie continues to show his afterlife without revealing that Dr. Crowe has actually passed on. Deathas a part of life is also plays a big role with the young boy Cole (Haley Joel Osment). He is able to see the ghosts of people that have died and listens to them but he can also communicate with them, which turns out to be very important to the development of the story. The first scene where death as a part of life is evident is from the very beginning of the film. It appears to be a familiar tale of a psychologist, doctor, or lawyer who wants to compensate for a past failure by helping someone with a similar problem. Crowe feels that he failed his former patient, Vincent Grey . ( La Caze 1) this is when Vincent Grey (Donnie Wahlberg) shoots Dr. Crowe and then takes his own life in the bathroom of Dr. Crowes house. This supports the movies theme because Vincent was one of Dr. Crowes patients who had problems... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Crowe is meeting with Cole in his mother s home. Dr. Crowe is able to recall events from when he has dealt with other troubled kids working with his pervious patients. • 8. Comparing Godwin And Wolstonecraft-Wollstonecraft This contingency was not unique to Goethe; rather, it continued to shape Romanticism as it spread through England and Europe from the 1790 s to Queen Victoria s ascension in 1837. The works of the Godwin Wollstonecraft Shelley family particularly espouse the correlation between children, education, and women. William Godwin s treatise Enquiry on Political Justice (1793) outlines a theory of education that illustrates the Romantic fascination with children; like Rousseau, Godwin claims that children are naturally predisposed to good or are a sort of raw material put into [parents] hands, a ductile and yielding substance (36 7). Further following Rousseau s example, Godwin places the potential for moral and political regeneration with children,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whereas Godwin and Wollstonecraft s work only possess traces of the eternal feminine, Shelley shares Goethe s fascination with the Gothic and the sublime. In Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein s cousin and fiancГ©e Elizabeth combines Charlotte and Gretchen into one character. Like Charlotte, the deaths of her maternal influences force Elizabeth to become a surrogate mother to her young cousin William. Victor also idealizes Elizabeth in the way Werther worships Charlotte, describing how, Since the death of her aunt . . . she felt that the most imperious duty of rendering her uncle and cousins happy, had devolved upon her (2). Here, Elizabeth adheres to Goethe s vision of the virtuous mother who wholly devotes herself to her children and family. Although Elizabeth possesses Charlotte s moral purity, her tragic death aligns with Gretchen s fate. Like Gretchen, Elizabeth fails as a mother when Victor s monster murders her surrogate son, William. While the monster kills Elizabeth to spite Victor, her death establishes a correlation between her life and status as a mother; if Elizabeth cannot protect or help her children, she possesses no value as an individual. She simply becomes a disposable prop that resolves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Jackson s remake is true to the original for the most part, there are some small changes made in order to make the movie more appealing. In the original King Kong it is the lead actor in the movie that saves the damsel in distress but in the 2005 remake it is the scriptwriter that saves the female actress. This change is likely due to the recent trend of heroes coming from unlikely places. Their forces in the United States rose during the Great Depression and reached their height by the mid 20th century until a series of FBI investigations broke down in the 1970s and 1980s. • 30. Example Of Tabula Rasha Intro Idea 1: Pschology Tabula Rasa. From latin, it is a rough translation to Clean Slate. In swift explanation, all babies are born with nothing in their brains. They are a clean slate. They have committed no sins, they have no idea the value of life. They just know that a bright light has burned their corneas and a breath as forced its way into their body as they experience life in the world for the first time. Blissfully ignorant. Then, the environment around them is what makes their cognition and psychological choices. Example: Mean mom + Mean dad = Mean Offspring. Or Nice Mom + Nice Dad = Nice offspring. • 39. John Cage Is The Epitome Of A Cutting Edge Composer John cage is the epitome of a cutting edge composer. This is due to the fact that cage has achieved an appreciation for music which is unmatched by any other composer. Cage enjoys sounds because of their dynamics and their lengths, something other composers usually overlook. This gives him the advantage to compose musicin a unique manner; he can make music that is unmatched by others. This is what undoubtedly makes him one of the most influential composers of the 20th century. One significant reason why cage is considered unique is because of his experimentation with unorthodox instruments such as the prepared pianoand tape recorder. This was in efforts to break the musical boundaries of traditional music in the west, this style was a change from his traditional musical styles early on in his career, which were more alike to his mentors and followed more of 12 tone style. The ideas brought forward by cage made him more of a philosopher than a composer, he broke the normal role of a composer by encouraging people to focus on sounds rather than music and by promoting eastern philosophies, specifically Zen Buddhism. He has extended his teachings for years to come after his death by publishing many books such as silence and lectures and writings . Cage always placed an emphasis on the ideas conveyed by his music more than how they sounded, for example cage composed a piece in which the performers are silent, only with ambient sounds in the background. Based on a simple but effective business model, Whole Foods has grown to a position of market leadership that is now being challenged by low cost organic sellers. According to Feldman (as cited in Giammona, 2015) Whole Foodscontinues to face challenges from competitors going after organic and natural foods more aggressively (para. 4). The company s differentiation edge against lower cost competitors is fading as competitors have been successfully emulating the Whole Foods experience (Sharma,2015).Furthermore, Wahba (2016) noted that the company s Whole Paycheck reputation is hurting sales and driving customers away to other low priced organic foodcompetitors. Whole Foods needs to reduce prices due to the new competitive landscape. Since the grocery industry runs on very low profit margins, in order to reduce prices the company needs to reduce costs. Whole Foods can leverage its size along with the company s value proposition of working with local farmers to develop more efficient collaborative networks. The creation of partnerships in integrated networks opens up opportunities to take advantage of complementary costs structures, the respective partner s technical expertise, market knowledge and brand equity (reputation) (Swink, Melnyk, Cooper, Hartley,2014, p.11). Some of theses books (for example the Twilight series written by Stephanie Meyer) have portrayed an example for teenagers and even adults that should be more closely examined. A hundred years ago, books for kids were dominated with stories about boys having adventures and girls finding husbands; then, from the 1950s to the 1970s, the themes were emerging sexuality and parental conflict. Gram positive effective antibiotics and protein synthesis inhibitors such as azithromycin and tetracycline were expected to be ineffective to Gram negative bacteria, along with DNA dependent RNA polymerase inhibitor such as rifampin. However, contrasting results were depicted after 48 hours of incubation at 37вЃ°C. The bacteria appeared to be susceptible to azithromycin when the bacteria were anticipated to be resistant. This discrepancy could be explained through the molecular mechanism of azithromycin. Azithromycin induces adenine methylation in the rRNA in the 50S ribosomal subunit, and past experiments have indicated that it has a higher affinity for the erythromycin binding site for the ribosome to cause azithromycin to be more susceptible in Gram negative bacteria (Retsema et al., 1987). In addition, a polypeptide inhibitor such as penicillin was anticipated to be susceptible to the Gram negative bacteria, but it was displayed to be resistant. Penicillin is known to be a ОІ lactam antibiotic consisting of ОІ lactam ring that inhibits the cell wall synthesis of Enterobacteriaceae. A prevalent mechanism for resistance to ОІ lactam antibiotic is hyperproduction of ОІ lactamase (Philippon et al., 2002). It is a concept that impacts everyone in a given society, either directly or indirectly, and is generally defined as Variation from a set of norms or shared social expectations. (Laurence Basirico, Barbara Cashion, J. Ross Eshleman 2014:195) Society often views social deviance as a negative thing that disrupts that natural order and guidelines of a society, but it also has many positive functions to it. Society can help, define the limits of social tolerance , Increase the solidarity and integration of a group , Serve as a safety valve for social discontent , and indicate defects of inadequacies in the existing social organization. (Basirico, 2014:195). All of these positive functions of a deviant behavior tend to lead towards positive change in a society that although may serve as a culture shock to the society at first, such as equality for LGBT groups, it will eventually become beneficial to the society and make it a healthier and more sustainable one. Without deviant behavior, the society becomes stagnant and will die, much like a living organism s cells becoming stagnant, and the organism dying. Odysseus, An Egotistical Cretin Odysseus tells Athena, whom he believes is a shepherd, a false account, of how he came to Ithaca, primarily since he needs to keep his identity a secret, familiarize himself with the situation on Ithaca and formulate a plan to execute the suitors. He perceives that he has arrived in a mist shrouded and unknown land. And thus secondarily, he needs to present a feasible reason for being alone and stranded with copious amounts of treasure for safety reasons as well as to allay suspicion in relation to his identity. Mostly, this information gives the shepherd a distinct warning not to attempt to harm or steal from him because not only is he a hardened warrior who survived a ten year war at Troy, but he has already murdered royalty, dishonorably, in his own homeland for trying to take his hard earned possessions. Obviously, he would have no qualms about killing a shepherd in a different country for attempting the same. Odysseus also mentions that he was not subservient to Idomeneus at Troy. He even led a command of men not under Idomeneus, which would be skirting on treason. Though it was not admirable to disregard duty, it allowed Odysseus a unit of men who would presumably die for him and could potentially be used to overthrow Idomeneus ...
